Review Mandala Restaurant - Akaroa

Food was absolutely amazing, the scallops, lamb cutlets and the Muscovy duck was to die for. The service and attention we received from Kamal was top tier. Kamal also made me one of the best whiskey sours I’ve ever had.

The food was extremely good. I have been to India several times and have done a lot of Indian cooking grinding my own spices and cooking from scratch. The food at Mandala was much closer to a home cooked meal than your average Indian restaurant food. Very fresh very tasty. The fusion with Polynesia creates a unique style.

Absolutely a standout meal, I've never had such flavorsome Indian food. The fusion flavors were top notch. Indian / Fijian. The service was brilliant friendly and engaging. I will be looking for excuses to go back. 10/10 Totally recommend going to Mandala.

This restaurant offers wonderful Indian fusion meal full of traditional indian flavours and western delicacy. An outstanding customer service 👍 No matter how far you live you MUST come to this restaurant. It's worth to drive from Christchurch to Akaroa just only for a nice meal. What an incredible experience! We are both vegan and had the pleasure of being served by Angie and another lady (didn’t catch her name) who helped us with the options. One of the most amazing meals we’ve ever had! Delicious and flavoursome. Highly recommend to anyone coming through Akaroa, with a serene environment. Thank you again! We will definitely be back!

My wife and love this place! The food was so good that we the second night we cancelled our booking at another restaurant and came back! The chef is inspired and the staff is great! If you like a bit of spice the goat curry is amazing, and when we mixed it with the pumpkin curry it was fantastic! Also, they are very gluten free friendly.

Delicious indian fusion food prepared with love and passion. Cozy atmosphere inside and a beautiful outdoor courtyard. Really glad we got to stop here on our visit to Akaroa!

Food here is incredible, the menu is really diverse which can sometimes be a bit of a red flag but honestly everything here was delicious and distinct. The Lamb Madrass was the most delicious I've ever eaten, where I live in Australia has a high indian population so there are plenty of brilliant indian restaurants but this one dish was a stand out for me. The serving sizes are also very generous for the price, the cevice was easily the size of a main and was done differently to any I'd tried before, very enjoyable, as was the seared Tuna. The French style mains were also very well done! The duck was a little sweet in the cherry jus but I find this is often the way with French cuisine, so no qualms! Definitely worth a visit.

Nice atmosphere, lovely service. We did think it was pricey for what we got however. For example the starter we shared was $25 and came with 2 prawns. The mains were flavoursome, but again for $140 for 2 people to share a starter and have a main each with roti, was much more than we'd usually pay for this type of meal.

Best food in Akaroa! We have been 3 times in the last month & loved it every time. I have tried the Butter Chicken, Pumpkin Curry, Beef Massamam Curry & the Beef Cheek - all flawless! Highly recommend to anyone visiting/living in Akaroa. We will continue to come back for more!

We were in Akaroa for six days and ate here four times—it would have been five, but they were closed one evening. Everything we had was quite good, but the lamb shank, duck curry, and goat curry really stood out to me. And for dessert, the "Passion for Cardamom" was top-notch. If I'm ever in town again, I'll be going to Mandala for sure.

We celebrated my sisters 30th at this restaurant and it was absolutely amazing! Delicious food, wonderful service and super cool cocktails. Such a good place in Akaroa. Will absolutely be back!

Mandala is our favourite in Akaroa! After many, many dinners we've enjoyed there, the Mandala team serve up fabulous cocktails, amazing curries, duck, pork belly and so much more! Great atmosphere too. See you again soon 😋

Definitely our favorite food in Akaroa! We had the pani puri, butter chicken curry, and goat curry. All were excellent and very different - the butter chicken was really creamy which balanced the spice of the goat curry. Our server Kamal was really friendly and shared that he is currently making the restaurant a new cocktail list based on his experience as a bartender in Dubai. We tried one with cherry and amaretto and it was perfectly sweet and delicious. Overall a lovely experience and would recommend to anyone visiting Akaroa.

We had a Friday dinner in the place. The food was tasty, and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommended.

Food was delicious and came out quickly. We were there on a Tuesday evening at 6pm. And Kamal was great!
