Review Paper Moon Albany - Albany

Awesome presentation! The coffee was amazing! The French toast was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent even though they were super busy everything was out and to us in great time! Can't wait to visit again!.... We went again and exactly the same service it was awesome!

Won’t disappoint you, the food was great however the portion size could have been better. Nice place to take your family with variety of options choose from. Service was excellent 👌

The dishes were very well presented, the chef adds some originality and flair. The cabinet food looks delightful, and prices quite reasonable. Excellent coffee and friendly, efficient service.

I really wish I had of got the name of the barista but tonight was a bit hard for me working my first retail Christmas eve. But, my girl pulled through for me with the gorgeous latte art that I had previously on Saturday with my friend. She absolutely made my day and I will make sure to check if she's working before i decide to go there. Absolutely love it. Thank you, you beautiful lady, I hope you see this 💖.

The best eggs benedict I have ever tried. The combination of the sauce, bread and hashbrown with your choice of item is top tier. I have moved from Northcote to Takanini and still drive all the way back every month to try this.

Wow was not expecting that. Just had a fantastic breakfast here especially the French toast as seen in the pictures. Such a great variety of fruit and flavours with even some tiramisu puree.

The coffee is absolutely amazing, and the environment and staff are even better! Friendly people and good food as well. Highly recommended

I've been twice now, and both times the cakes have been delicious. The staff are always lovely.

The best cabinet food around! I love how the favourites are always there. Apple crumble to die for as well as noodles salad and Mexican stack! Great service and nice atmosphere. We always look forward to treating ourselves at paper moon

Fab breakfast and the guy behind the counter has superb customer experience skilks

You don’t usually expect much from a cafe in a mall. But every time we come here, coffees are the best every time! Kids fluffy is actually fluffy and not just a warmed up milk like in many other places. Cappuccino is always hot and frothy and not flat. Barista gets 5 stars!

Just had the best fish chips I’ve had in a cafe, and the best thing is it came out on a steaming hot dinner plate. The coffee was hot n strong, Quick service, tasty food. Will be back soon. Cheers

My GF and I both love to frequent Papermoon Cafe in Albany mall as it has become our favourite, the food is always well presented and tastes amazing and the menu is robust. Our personal faves are the Chicken Filo, veggie scones & eggs Benedict, lots of delicious options and all very interesting options too, the food is not just typical types found everywhere, it's unique, the hot and cold beverages are also fantastic, the frappe latte is my fave. HIGHLY recommend this cafe!

Nice place, bit busy due to weather. We ordered French Toast and Mt Aoraki Salmon Bagel - both were delicious and cappuccino was good. Drinks came out within minutes and meals were bought out in good time. No waiting despite the cafe being full. Would definitely go back again.

Very handy when out shopping, always full of diner , tasty food and friendly service staff.

Very slow service. Food was good. Great presentation. Good at accommodating our egg free request in all 4 dishes. Low stars are.for such a long wait for our food.

been here once for brunch, ordered coffee and few cabinets food. Food was average, service was okay. I rated this a 3 stars because the whole place felt like a mess, didn’t feel comfortable the whole time.

Cabinet food is stocked with so much goodness..that it took a while to choose. I had the mocha cheese cake which I couldn't fault. Coffee was great and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Def coming back to try out more of their menu

What a great place to hang out! My first time in the neighbourhood and love all about this place! Awesome service, delicious cappuccino & chocolate croissant.
Bright One
I'd like to give it a 4/5 if the size of the fish is a bit more generous. I ordered snapper/scallops risotto for my lunch in a busy Saturday. There was a tiny piece of fish and 2 tiny scallops in my bowl. It's not good enough for a $22 dish. The flavor is there though.

I originally came here as Columbus didn’t offer any vegan options except a salad in the cabinet that didn’t look very fresh, so Paper Moon was very refreshing. I ordered the Squash Garden salad and as you can see in the photo, a lot of love went into it! The service is also very helpful - When all our mains came out, my father asked for extra hollandaise sauce and it was bought out with the trust that we’d pay at the end (Which we did)

One of my favorite spots. Incredibly trendy tasteful decor and DELICIOUS food. Great for a coffee/lunch meet up. Lots of classic and unique options for food and drinks
Mrs Puddingcake
This place is in the albany food court and it’s a big step up from the typical fast food kind of places you usually find at food courts.<br/>Coffee is fantastic, lots of seating either in the cafe or in the food court (obvs it’s nicer in the cafe part but beggars can’t be choosers) and the food is pretty great. I had coffee only but Mr Puddingcake had the big breakfast. The bread was lovely and dark, huge serving of well scrambled eggs, and all the usual extras. A nice surprise in the mall

Please bring back the mushroom trio 🙏 it was so different to have creamy mushrooms with a balsamic hit and different types of mushrooms. Now the creamy mushrooms aren’t so special anymore - just heavily creamy with chorizo and potato, which means less mushrooms :( <br/><br/>Good coffee<br/>Decent assortment of cabinet food<br/>Average a la carte menu
Sei
Had breakfast here today - food was lovely we got - salmon eggs Benedict, creamy mushrooms, kids breaky, a kids fluffy, banana smoothie & medium hot choc. Prices standard cafe pricing. Great portions. Gave lowish score due to The customer service we experienced today - which was sleepyish. But I will be back as it might hv just bn a off morning.

Definitely the best cafe in the mall. I really enjoy their wedges with cheese and bacon. Always very crispy wedges. The cakes are a bit overpriced
Annie
Their pasta of the day - chicken bacon mushroon with creamy sauce is the best! And the manager Leo is really helpful and super accomodating! Best fettuccine iv had so far!
MrGodHimself
Good portion sizes. Food came out quickly. Fish and chips was good (side salad and peas were very very good, fish was average). Pizzas enjoyed by all. Point down for lack of table service as had to order at the counter! Would happily return.

There’s no better way to escape the busy crowd at Westfield Albany Mall than to sit and relax at Papermoon Cafe and Bar. <br/><br/>It was interesting to note their healthy and delicious lunch choices. But we had gluten free chocolate cake and blueberry cheesecake for our afternoon treats. Words can’t describe these flavoursome delights- just perfect to go with our hot cappuccino.

We went on a busy Saturday night with prior booking as we had a grabone voucher. Good atmosphere with an ample amount of indoor and outdoor seating. However, an issue was that they were understaffed with only two servers during peak time and a result we were unsure whether or not menus and water were meant to be self-service as they clearly didn't have any spare time to cater to us.<br/>Ordered gnocchi, blue bird pizza, and the soup of the day which ended up being tomato soup, with a wait time of around 20 minutes which was impressive considering there was a big group of 8 that had just ordered before us.<br/>The food itself however was unfortunately just mediocre. The gnocchi did not taste fresh at all and had us wondering if they just used the ones coming out of a packet. Pizza is one of my favourite foods, however this one didn't leave an impression at all especially with the dry chicken.<br/>Good thing we had a grabone voucher, because this would not have been worth the original price.<br/>Only noteworthy part of this experience was the great service from the two FOH girls who offered smiles throughout despite being extremely busy.
Bambi
The WORST coffee ever!!!! I had to ask staff to make latte for me again as it was just impossible for me to drink it. Second time, no improvement. Coffee was separated into two layers- thick foam & bitter, unpleasant coffee drip. And their food was no different. Everything was just horrible, horrible, horrible!

AVOID AT ALL COST - The service here is Terrible with a capital 'T'. I received a Grabone gift from the parents of the team that I coach. In theory great but I couldn't get in before the deadline date because they kept saying they were FULL. Very convenient 'Con' to people who thought they had a good deal. So I just turned up and saw they weren't full and asked if I could use the gift... simple answer was "No" because I hadn't booked. I offered to step half a yard back and call them on the phone to book. The response was "No point because we're too busy"... I never leave reviews but this service has compelled me to WARN everyone.

We got gifted a grab one voucher for my partners birthday for papermoon. We called them and tried to make a booking on a Thursday but as soon as we mentioned the grabone voucher they were fully booked all of a sudden. They said we could come next Thursday. We called again to check on our booking bit again they are fully booked. I bet if I would swing by the would be plenty of free tables. This is such a rip off. If you don't want to have grabone diners coming in then don't put it on grabone. If u don't want to honour it don't do it. The voucher expires tmrw and we were unable to use it. When are we supposed to use it then? <br/>I can't say anything about the food quality but most comments below say that it's worse than average and rude service.
Biani Hoskins-Peri
The service was really good. Coffee was really good. The food was fairly good but the hollandaise sauce was a tad buttery. Other than that it's a good little cafe
Rusty22017
Have been visiting the cafe over the years. The cabniet food has really steped up its game latly! Now every visit there is another new cake to try and the savoury things are nice and fresh. The coffee has improved alot and there are a few new hot drinks im dying to try. Place is very at lunch time. I like to come in after 2 for aquite cuppa and sweet treat.
Anna
The food was average at best. Choices were pasta, pizza, burger, pasta, pasta.<br/>The service was extremely poor, we had to ask for water twice before a waitress placed a bottle of water in front of us while suppressing an eye roll.<br/>Decor was your everyday cafe look.<br/>Honestly, the service was so terrible that even if the food was good I wouldn't be back.
Ashleigh Kulwant
Came here spontaneously after realising that the rest of the food court was closed. The service was really great - staff were polite & attentive. I noticed a sign stating that they gave a 20% discount if you had a same night movie ticket so asked about it, and the staff on double checked what time our movie was to make sure that we had plenty of time to eat and make it to the movies. We ordered at 7.05, and had it on our table, and had finished by 7.35! The food was OK - we had the Blue Bird pizza which didn't have enough blue cheese by far (we couldn't even taste it!) and the flavour on the chicken was over-powering, a nicer smoked chicken would have been preferable rather than the cajun-ish type chicken on it but, it wasn't bad! The chips weren't very crunchy, they were actually quite soft which is always a little disappointing. The serving sizes were great, a pizza and chips were plenty for husband & i. They wouldn't be our first choice, but for the movie discount, & the excellent service, we would come again.
Indigo Foodie
A busy little place right in the mall with plenty of attentive staff. Sadly the food has started to go down hill, what used to be a great breakfast with juicy bacon has now been replaced with stringy streaky bacon. Looks like cost cutting. Bring back the old bacon and ill come back.

The days when papermoon was run by the original owners of the Mairangi branch were the good days.<br/>I have dined at paper moon since then and quality of food and service has been getting poorer.<br/><br/>On saturday morning, we were immediately seated to a table of our choice.<br/>But when we told them we had a grab one voucher we were told we couldn't dine there anymore as we had to book one day in advance. <br/>That was atrocious service as there were plenty of free tables around and when I challenged them of this the manager commented "well you are very lucky today usually we are packed."<br/><br/>Also the rude lady who was the manager was very intrusive and kept interrupting us as we tried to speak. Listening and communication is a critical part of social behaviour not only in hospitality. Very disappointing.<br/><br/>The fact that using a grab one voucher inhibited us from dining was unbelievable.<br/>I will not come back as with AKL blooming of new cafes there are plenty more places to dine for brunch who offer excellent food and exceptional service.

Visited here on Boxing Day for a birthday in a group of 5. Had previously called to book a week earlier and they had taken my name and number. Upon arrival we were told the booking was not there, however would seat us anyway. In other words someone forgot to write the booking down. Staff weren't very attentive and despite it not being too busy, the service was pretty bad. The cashier did not know how to use the till system and it some time to place our orders (which you have to go to the counter to do as they do not do table service). The food came at all different times however was an ok standard. The fries could definitely do with less salt however. Overall pretty disappointing. It's a shame when papermoon Mairangi is amazing, yet the same name is put on another establishment which turns out to be pretty lacklustre. Will not be returning.

The original one in Mairangi Bay was the shizzzz in its day, current owners are doing ok but definitely not the same. Today we tried the one in the Albany Mall and it was just ok.<br/><br/>Had the salmon avo (not real avo) bagel with a side of mushrooms and coffee.
Meghan Kerr-Phillips
Had an excellent meal and coffee here today. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Food was well presented and tasty. Service was fast despite the fact they were busy. Only recommendation was the coffee did not have the immaculate presentation as the food. Still my favorite place around Albany for brunch
Brooke Tokana
Came here for breakfast. Sat outside which was really nice but started to get really crammed as more and more people sat down. There's not much space between tables which is fine but a little squishy when it's full. Ordered the eggs Benedict which was so lovely! Had OJ (orange juice) and hot chocolate. Both of which were really nice. Staff were really friendly . Will definitely try something else on the menu next time.
Jessica
If your ever at Albany mall and don't feel like eating at the food court I could suggest coming here. The service is fine, and the food is reasonably priced. It's nothing fancy or special but just somewhere nice to maybe spend some more quiet time having a chat with someone rather than sitting in the loud food court of the mall.
Heather
Nice interior with decent desserts... They have friendly staff and nice service. A little downside would be the price - $9 (or $10) for one brownie. Premium pricing is to be expected considering the central location, but the brownie itself was average.
Frazer Noble
Situated in Albany's mall, Paper Moon Cafe is towards the exit of the food court and is worth visiting. The staff are friendly, and welcoming and the food appetising. In the past I've had the pot pie, which was hot, tasty, and filling ; I've also had coffee and cabinet food as well, which were also good. They can get a bit busy, so expect a bit of a wait.<br/><br/>Whether you're after dinner, lunch, or a coffee, I'd recommend Paper Moon Cafe to friends, family, and followers.
Connor Gielen
Coffee was poor. The roast Kumera I had was okay but nothing beyond okay. The service was poor, and most of all the salad that came with the Kumera is a bit of a joke.. Won't be coming back.
Jack
Good food, slow service expected if during rush hour. Limited seating due to in a mall. Food was fresh and flavourful. Would definitely return.
Sharon
Been here a number of times over the past few years and first I must say that the staff are always friendly, work like little Trojans and the service is fast. We have had breakfast items, been a couple of times for dinner but we mainly go for the beef salad which is most of the time top notch. Personally I would love it to be a bit spicier but loading it up with black pepper helps a bit. The items in the food cabinet always looks fresh and tempting. Thanks for your consistently good service<br/>Mar/Apr 2017 Have had a change of owners recently I understand and they no longer have  the same beef salad sadly. What they have now is OK but not up to the same standard as the old one as far as flavor and quality goes and I would have something else in preference. DId overhear others commenting in a similar vein so maybe something to think about. Pizzas were OK but if you are going to call one Spicy Devil, please make it spicy. Chicken livers are lovely as are the other salads. I have never encountered unfriendly staff, infact they have always worked hard and have smile on their face even when they are rushed off their feet. Maybe it comes back to how you as a customer treat them. They are not your slave, they are there to help make your outing enjoyable and if you get bad service from them maybe you only have yourself to blame. Just saying :)

After having tried nearly all cafes in the mall, my friend wanted to try Paper moon last week. <br/>Coffee and food were not bad but service was very poor. Staffs appeared very unhappy to assist and no greeting to customers. So it was very disappointing and No returning.
Kerryj
This is a busy mall cafe that has an attractive food display, extensive menu and efficient staff.<br/><br/>I had an average latte here along with their coffee walnut fudge slice. The food I saw coming to other tables looked great and I wouldn't hesitate to come here again.

I bought a voucher for 6 people for brunch at Papermoon because I had been there before when my mother had a voucher and we really enjoyed ourselves. I called up to book and they said they were booked up and there was no space. We turned up anyway to check and the cafe was half empty. There were empty tables everywhere. We grabbed a table for 6 and went up to order. The girl asked me if I had booked and I said I had tried. I pointed out there was plenty of space. She went to check with the chef who said it was fine and then checked with the manager. She came back and said they couldn't serve us as they only had a certain amount of food and there was a 20 minute wait for food. I said we would wait and she said no, we would have to make a booking and come back in 2 hours. When I asked if we were to stay and pay full price if there would be "enough food". She said yes. Totally Ridiculous! The month prior to this we didn't book and they had no problem with this. I will be trying to get my money back and all 6 of us went to another cafe and had brunch. I will not be going back to Papermoon. It was obvious that they don't want knew customers and they definitely aren't willing to go the extra mile to make customers happy.

Was an ok experience.<br/>The food and drinks were served fast. The cabinet food was very bland. <br/>My salmon/potato cake was ok but the salad it came with was yuk, totally wilted and unappetising.<br/>My soy latte tasted not quite right. I asked them to double check it was Soy as tasted like it was milk. No one got back to me.<br/>Overall pretty average. Overpriced for the portion.
Sarah Clarke
Customer service is good and a nice set up.  Food is of good quality however I have noticed the quality is sometimes inconsistent.<br/><br/>I am a lover of Creamy Mushrooms and find on some occasions it is not as creamy and more runny, however there are still good flavours in the dish.<br/><br/>Coffee is good which is always a deal breaker for me but no issues here.

■ Good location<br/>■ Nice atmosphere<br/>■ Good customer service<br/><br/>■ Average food<br/>■ Food is a little overpriced<br/><br/>Have been here several times over the last few years and the experience has been really average most of the time. Foodwise - have tasted a few items out of there cabinet food including their sandwiches and pastas and nothing too memorable. Both times food has been quite dry and bland. I reckon their food is also quite overpriced considering the quality and small portion sizes.<br/><br/>However their iced drinks especially their iced coffees& chocolates are worth a try! So recently came in here for a chilled friday evening and the place was quiet that time.<br/><br/>The service and staff have always been very open and friendly and the location is so good since it's right inside Albany mall hence bringing in so many hungry shoppers and families with kids on a regular basis. There's a fair amount of seating space and the atmosphere is pretty mellow and relaxed. I reckon this place has a lot of potential to improve their menu and up their game considering being located in such a busy location. Overall nothing worth raving about tbh, have had better experiences in the neighbouring cafes  right next door...

Really pleasant dining experience. We were a party of six and had dinner (7pm) at Paper Moon. Food was excellent. From the fish and chips to the steak and the lamb options - all dishes were tasty and delivered to our table quickly. <br/>Service was good too. Very friendly and helpful staff. <br/>Pleasantly surprised and will definitely be returning.

I've made many visit here at paper moon Albany I'd have to say this place never disappoints me in terms of service one of my favourite cafes situated in Albany.<br/>Egg Benin had an outstanding plate presentation its standards were of an actual five star restaurant which had me surprised. Lovely service, menu was reasonable priced great for morning brunches. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kate Irvine
MEAT PLATTER AND GREEN BEANS SIDE...Really fantastic beans with beautiful macadamia sauce. Meat platter was great and decent amount of food. Only thing I could suggest is that the chicken maybe be pieces and not nibbles and not deep fried. Other than that really good flavoursum food.
Robyn Wickenden
We had dinner as a couple here on Thursday night. We used to eat here quite regularly under the old owners, but have found that things are not quite the same now. The restaurant looks grubby ( or is this just a it run down?) I had the market fish - trevally ( which I asked what it was when ordering, having not been told) and it came with quite crunchy bok choy ( ends not nearly trimmed), cooked vine tomatoes and kumara and a smear of cauliflower puree. A nice enough meal but lacking a bit of finesse. My husband had the lamb pot pie which he enjoyed immensely. It had a very crisp and brown flaky pastry top served in a ramekin. We had to ask for dessert menus after a while. When we tried to order the berry crumble, we were told there was none because of the contaminated berries issue. Bit stange given the berries are cooked and there are other sources of berries othet than China, but I suppose it's better to be safe. Must of the other desserts also came with a berry couli, so I enquired about that. Turns out that it what an artificial syrup, not a berry couli at all. Ended up with the panacotta which was very rich and creamy. Hubby the poached pear. It proved to be quite difficult to eat - could have done with being a bit softer, or being given a fork as well as a spoon. So overall, a pleasant enough meal but felt there was room for improvement.

Coffee is good. Food not much so. I come here once in a while normally with workmates having meeting. Sometimes it can really get busy with not enough tables and chairs.
Andrew @anjeats
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: a cool dark colour scheme and indoor outdoor flow gives this cafe a prime position in busy Albany Mall. <br/><br/>FOOD: I had the muesli with yoghurt and fruit, which seemed a tad lacklustre to me. I wish it was a bit more toasted and to be honest it tasted like it came from a packet. The portion of yogurt was small too. Edible without being remarkable. <br/><br/>COFFEE: strong and hot. Just how I like it! <br/><br/>A comfortable space to relax in, but the background music was much too loud! Top marks for the coffee.
Jon Vao
The service being the busiest period they were quite hurried. I had to request for my order again. It was quite noisy & yet i shouldn't have to chase my order - Customer service 101.@ matavaotuua <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Not that great when they forget to bring your order and my wife has received hers and I had to go to the counter and ask for my order.<br/><br/>Birds flying into the Cafe is not hygiene either. Will not go back there and the coffee was cold.
Zhang Athena
Love the creamy mushroom here except the portion seems getting smaller now. Coffee is allpress which is nice, service is ok, a good place for breakfast in the shopping mall
Kim M
I enjoy visiting Paper Moon Cafe every time i visit the mall. The eggs benedict is amazing! One of my favourite places for french toast - a must try. It comes with fruit also. I have tried the thai beef salad - was good. The food at the counter in cabinet is lovely too. The coffee is lovely.
Timer
Was initially attracted to the setting - cafe in a mall with opening to outdoor area. The food was fine but not exciting. While the portion was generous but was pretty flat. Eggs over cooked. Bacon unevenly cook half burned half undercooked. <br/><br/>The service was average. Staff only did something when asked. Clean the table. Get the cutlery. Etc. <br/><br/>The floor was dirty as.
Lochbuie
Lunched yesterday at Paper Moon in Albany Mall.  As usual it was packed but there were still tables available outside in the winter sunshine.  There was a good selection of cabinet food, which appeared to be very popular with the lunchtime crowd, but we chose to order from the menu - fish & chips and the chicken lasagna.  The fish was terakihi, moist and encased in a crisp and savoury batter.  The chicken lasagna contained portobello mushrooms, pumpkin, spinach, and eggplant in individual layers, each bringing its own particular flavours, and topped with delightfully crispy curls of fried kumara.  Both dishes were accompanied by fresh green salad, and were a good size and price for lunch.
A Libra Perspective
Paper Moon used to be my number one spot. Their Eggs Benedict was so good, and their Iced Coffee was just the best tasting I had had in far too long a time. Everything else however, is average.<br/><br/>I've had, the pesto chicken open sandwich, the corn fritters with bacon, and a cabinet Caesar Salad. The salad is the only thing I remember fondly... and that was a few years ago now. The sandwich is not what it could be, and was very dry, and awkward to eat on such a small, narrow plate. It lacked flavour (despite being GREEN with pesto) and I think the fries and aioli were the best part about it. The Corn fritters just needed more love. The bacon was overcooked, and tough and dry, and so were the fritters. Despite having chutney and sour cream... My friend also ordered Chicken Livers which were drowning in grease, she was compensated thankfully without complaint. The eggs benedict aren't as good as I remember, but I'll still give them another chance and the iced coffee is a lot smaller than it used to be.<br/><br/>The atmosphere is okay. When you get a seat near the walls it's great, but as this is part of a Mall it can be crowded and indoor seats can be taken quickly, the outdoor seating is narrow, and can be cold, or too hot.<br/><br/>Room for improvement: I don't know about their evening crowd, or menu but the lunch/brunch menu has slipped. I remember their salads being the best around, including the calamari and the chicken avocado. I see the menu has been updated and I will be back to give it another shot.<br/><br/>Paper Moon is the best cafe option in Westfield Albany, it needs to keep its standards high and it's chefs happy!
Chris O'Brien
My wife and I visited these folks for the first time today. Great service and great coffee!!! They we also very accommodating finding something for our 10 month old to have! Thank you and we will be back!!
Viaan Janse Van Rensburg
My wife and I stopped here for lunch today. Chicken burger and iced coffee for her, steak sandwich and flat white for me.<br/>Service = 2 - we were not tended to and had to see out assistance at the till ourselves. We were not meal checked. <br/>Value = 4 - prices are mid range ~ $20. Meal. We got extra value through a voucher.<br/>Quality 3 - whilst the meal was tasty the ciabatta bun was extremely tough. We had to remove them from our meal.<br/><br/>
Mark Greene
Service was slow, it took 30 minutes to get the food. The salad arrived without dressing and the chips on a separate meal were so heavily salted as to be inedible. This used to be an excellent restaurant, so this was very disappointing. <br/>
WeiTing Ashley Shyu
Average. I've been here a couple of times for coffee. Although the coffee is great, the food lacks in consistency.<br/><br/>Consistency is important. The salads I ordered have been the same but they all taste different... Sometimes bland or sometimes the chicken is too dry.
Cararmel Queen
I ordered the Thai beef salad which was yum and nicely presented. However it did not fill me up in the slightest. My boyfriend ordered the Salt and pepper squid main and it was an entrée size so of course it didn't do a dent on him! Way over priced for the amount he got. We are already scoping out where we are going to go get some more food now as we are both still hungry! We also got a tropical smoothie which tasted like foam. Service isn't that great either. Fairly nice meals but defiantly over priced.
JrdnJnf
I asked to make one Affogato which wasnt on the menu<br/><br/>Yet, they made me one, with the spinkle of cinnamon on top. <br/><br/>It was the best affogato I have ever had<br/><br/>I tried Chicken Lasagna and it was great too. The lasaga was decorated with fried kumura and it looked wonderful. <br/><br/>For my experience, Service, Food and Location were all good :)
S B
We enjoyed a great Thai Beef Salad, which was a really good combination of ingredients and excellent service!  It's nice to have the option of sitting inside or out, and still be part of the mall. (Seating outside would be much quieter, if you want to get away from the noise of the mall)
Helen Gyde
Went to lunch with a friend and found the service to be friendly and efficient. The prices were fine and the place fairly busy with a few tables free. My friend had the burger which she enjoyed and I had the chicken salad which was nice if you haven't been to the paper moon in mairangi bay and had their version.<br/><br/>I thought carrot was a strange item to include in the salad, it didn't go with anything else. That said the salad was nice and I will definetly be back. All in all, a good lunch.
Sabrina Zhou
We live just around the corner. Always go for coffees and icecream next door. They serve very nice coffees however the food was pretty average.
Becca Callaghan
Went here with a friend of lunch today, the food was amazing! I had a slow cooked steak sandwich with wedges. I couldnt fault the dish at all, apart from it could habe been hotter, it was a bit luke warm. The serive is where this cafe loses its marks for me. The service staff saw my friend and i sit down and theu just ignored us. After waiting 5min we went and got menus ourselves and still no one can to serve uo so we decided to get up and que in line to order. Once in the que a server came up to is and saod they can come take our ours which he did. It was all a bit more of a hassel than it sould have been. But the food was amazing :)
Love Food
Not recommend to any of my friend, poor service and high priced food. Very disappointed coffee, and very unbelievable small fluffy! Served in a small demise cup with only half filled milk foam + two marshmallow. Not a kid friendly place.<br/>
Carla Hedgeman
Came with high expectations and really let down, we had big breakfast potatoes were cold and had a terrible taste, bacon was black from grease but not cooked and sweet corn fritters well below average, steak cooked nicely on steak sandwich. Feedback taken onboard by the manager and I appreciate this, hopefully they will change a few things.
Monica Flieshman
Found it very average in food, service and quality. Was a bit slow and not much space in the cafe

We chose this café for its great looking establishment and well-presented meals that we saw delivered to other patrons, however, we were disappointed and regretted our choice. We were a party of 10, and found it hard to find a good place to accommodate us all. All 10 meals came out at different times, meaning many were finished by the time the other meals came out. The meals were not particularly hot when delivered to the table. A hair was found in one of the Big Breakfasts (which was quickly remade with an apology), a caramelised banana was missing from the French Toast, the eggs in the Eggs Benedict were overdone (or cold by the time they arrived) and the hollandaise sauce looked and tasted like it was squirted out of a bottle and did not have a nice taste, and the bacon was not great quality bacon. The waitress who served us was pleasant and accommodating. While the pricing was fair, around $16-$20 for the meals we chose, we were disappointed with what we got. We wouldn’t choose this café again, especially when it was how we ended a great family weekend away.

Went to Paper Moon over the weekend and really had an enjoyable time. The service was excellent, the young man who was on our table was very attentive and efficient. The food and coffee was great!!!. It is a busy cafe and timeliness of the orders was good.. The only thing I have to ponder is the Hash Brown potatoes were not real Hash Browns and Onion Rings could be tastier and these 2 little items on the menu could be looked at. All in all excellent and atmosphere was great.

Went to lunch with a girlfriend yesterday for a joint birthday. The service was terrible.. w waited outside for ages or menus in the end we went in and asked the girl dropped them out never asked if we wanted drinks and did not return to take our order. in the end we went back in and asked for the waiter to come and take our order. We ordered chicken salads and water. the water did not come and it was hot in the sun. We asked a girl again for water. The table next to ours who arrived later received their chicken salad before us. Food arrived at that stage we had been there one hour. The waitress near asked if we wanted anything else or cracked pepper.<br/>No one came back out to replenish the water or ask if we wanted coffee etc. the salad was nice but completely let down by the service<br/>complete let down

My girlfriend and I try and go there every three weeks for brunch. I arrived on Sunday and was ignored for the first ten minutes. Finally they acknowledged us, asked if I would like to order. We placed our orders, both of us being pregnant we were very specific of what we wanted, we had to send both dishes back, they had not listened. The food was average, the service was terrible and we both walked away thinking we would not be coming back.

Had a coffee there yesterday nice coffee ,ordered my husband a slice of Louise cake looked nice in the cabinet when he got it was shaped in a triangle very thick and he had to leave some of it,he could not mange it to hard for him as he has Motor Neurone decease ,and has to have softer food ,the slice was so nice in the cabinet they should never sell the end bits like that ,I took a photo of him there ,he loves the slice and we go elsewhere, and he always has the slice and no worries .Nice staff I should have complained there and then .

Went for a coffee expecting the coffee to be a lot better than other places in the mall. Also being Allpress you usually get a good cup, however, it was far too hot and these days there is no excuse for not getting the temperature correct. Maybe a bit more training is required. Service was very good but unfortunately let down by the coffee.

Went for dinner with my husband the other day before going to the cinema which is opposite. Have been there during the day a few times before to get a coffee and cake (I can highly recommend their lemon sponge cake). I was really impressed with the food. I had the vegetarian risotto and he had the steak which was cooked to perfection. I didn't have desert but my husband got the sticky date pudding which was very tasty. Will definitely be back!

Lunch today, very pleasant staff and service great as always. The Caesar salad however was poor, curried chicken in Caesar was unexpected and my first thoughts were the chicken had been in another curried dish and was washed to put in the salad!! I hope I am wrong but think you should know!!

I went there with my mother for lunch this week and had a really nice time. There was only the bar table available when we got there and sat down. A waiter came over and offered us a table outside with the heater on and thought we would be more comfortable. Very thoughtful of him! We sat outside and ordered a fish and chips and a harvest melt which was recommended by our waiter. We got told about the wine special and my mother ordered a wine from the Waipara region. Good food and good coffee. My mum had a carrot cake which was perfect. Our food, coffee and cake came very quickly and were cleared quickly. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend this place if you don't feel like sitting in the crazy noisy and busy food court!

Highly recommend Paper Moon Albany for a night cap after movies or even a meal during the day. Food is varied and healthy options are available. Nice place to meet with the girls - one of our favourites:)

This place was originally recommended to me by a friend as we were having a conversation about the best place to eat Eggs Benedict. <br/><br/>Turned up here with my wife and we were greeted with friendly staff and lots of smiles. We had the Basil Chicken Melt and the Autumn Harvest Melt (Vegetarian friendly). Both dishes came with shoestring fries, a small pot of aioli and rocket salad with a light dressing. <br/><br/>Both dishes were full of flavor and really well presented. Portion wise was slightly small but it would be good as a light lunch meal. <br/><br/>I guess the only thing I didn't like was the fact that the plate didn't sit firmly on the table so it made it a bit of a challenge to eat in a relaxing manner. It's not a huge bother but the overall experience was great.

Fantastic, fast service. French toast with bacon, banana and fresh fruit was lovely - perfect; not too heavy or sweet. Will be back.

Good position in the mall but not as smart as it could be , no hurry to go back. Very cold baguette served on top of the napkin, tea arrived with the ubiquitous milk-jug-in-the-cup ( is that hygienic?) & yesterdays newspaper available.

Paper moon is a nice looking cafe with seats inside and outside of the Albany shopping mall. At first glance I thought we were in for a really good time, unfortunately this was not the case. The food itself was pretty good and is priced not too high. However, the service was the real let down. When we arrived the seats outside were messy, with dirty dishes left on the tables for the birds to peck at. We sat down and the waiter didn't bother coming over to clean our table until we had seemed him out and asked. We also asked one waiter for a glass of water and he said it may take a while until he can get it. A bit odd... So we waited a fee minutes before asking a different waiter, and he was able to get the water immediately. Its unusual for me to write negative reviews but honestly we left this cafe unsatisfied. Maybe it was just a sluggish day for them, but that can't be the case if you want to please all of your customers. Hopefully they pick up the slack sooner than later as I'm sure it can be a great little cafe when the waiters aren't half asleep. Woof.

Paper Moon Cafe is a nice place to have lunch when you're shopping at Albany Mall but don't want to fight for tables in the main food court area. They have a typical cafe menu with long breakfast hours and a good lunch selection. This time, we ordered two servings of eggs benedict and one serving of hot cakes. One of our orders was mixed up but the good natured waitress sorted it out with the kitchen. Unfortunately, our dishes arrived lukewarm but the flavours were there and we were in a rush so didn't complain. The hot cakes were delicious and just the right amount of sweet (I hate when they arrive swimming in syrup!) but we found that the spinach on the eggs benedict was a bit watery.
