Review Meet Fresh - Albany

Vincent (Vince)
Great shaved ice, good for 3-4 people to share, big portion would be better if they could a little bit more of fruits
Kimberly Yeo
Yum as usual! Got the signature herbal jelly taro ball one as usual, and the fruit special (fresh strawberry & mango)! Very yummy... though after you eat the fruity sweet one, the other one tastes less sweet. The signature had very little ice (not much balls) and loads of jelly. Would be better if they had more ice and was consistent around the branches 🤔 still real yum though!

Howdy all, I had never tried Asian deserts before and I was pleasantly surprised! Place seemed packed and popular with the locals too. Couldn't tell ya what I had as one of our friends kindly offered to treat us and I asked for a surprise but I'm sure it was mango with coconut icecream and some other bits. I tried other stuff that the rest were having and they were mostly ok. Check out the pics

Delicious desserts. It's my favorite place to go for a late night dessert.

Meet fresh is my favorite place stay with my friends. Snowflake ice like creamy with fresh mango 😄 Waffle also taste good! I ordered almond waffle with vanilla ice cream. They also have chocolate waffle with banana. 🥳🥳 The last one is Shaveice with strawberry, seasonal fresh fruit. I love mf!

Meet Fresh is a popular dessert chain from Taiwan that specializes in freshest taro balls and delicate herbal jelly desserts using traditional processes - love it - completely delicious and super refreshing❣️Their drinks menu is also extensive👏 - I always ask for half sugar... Summer is around the corner, more excuses to pop in and try some authentic Taiwanese treats😝... As far as I know, they have stores on Lorne St Auckland CBD, Dominion Rd Mt Eden & Rosedale Rd Albany.

My go to place for desserts in the Shore. Love the Taro ball classic and the new flavour Sago with mango. The location is very convenient with lots of parking. The service is fast but it can get very busy between 7-9 pm. The menu is extensive with hot and cold stuff. The shop is open from 12 noon to 12 midnight every day and during holiday season.

Meet Fresh maames the best waffles for dessert. I love coming here just for the Dessert. 😋😋Best place to come with friends and family if you're looking just to chill out and relax. The staff are amazing too🥰🥰

I got my favourite purple rice bowl dessert and it’s absolutely amazing. The waffle portion is huge, but it’s quite dry, needed more butter in the making. Also, I’d love for some more whipped cream or ice cream scoops. One dollop of ice cream with that lot of waffles is just out of balance, really

Always love to come here. Good desserts and nice atmosphere. The place can get quite busy sometimes when we aren’t in lockdown.

Happy with the service and setting 🙌. Just the seating area is very cramped up.

Exactly what I was looking for to cool down after the day. Coming back for more shaved ice and mochi when it gets even warmer. 😋

Our family's favorite Taiwanese dessert shop. The shop is always kept tidy with fast and efficient service. Consistent quality is what attracts us to visit every week.

Love the snowflake. My fav! Just a bit crowded.

Ordered from HungryPanda and the food is as good as always!!

Excuse me! I went here to order tofu jelly with mini taro ball $9.5 for take away half and hour ago !
And found out u forgotten to add taro ball in my tofu jelly .....look at the pic ! Only tofu jelly no topping at all !

I got a takeaway Taro Ball Snowflake Ice and a Mango Shaved Ice. They were really sweet and yummy. I liked the chewy taro balls and the milk pudding in the snowflake!

Always go for the red bean shaved ice with pearls. It is amazing and one of the best desserts I enjoy. Unsure about the service here which affected the rating to be a little lower.
Rose
Absolutely delicious always come here with friends as it has nice seating interior and the mango and strawberry shaved ice is to die for totally worth it!!!

Nice place to hang out for a sober drink.
Lovely ambience, they have a wall full of sticky notes from customers which was quite cute.

Their fillings are not as good as the one in city. The taro ball was soft and inelastic.

Food: 4/10
Food presentation: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Location: 6/10
Ambience: 8/10
Price $9 per person
We ordered a shaved ice dish which was very sweet. Tasted like honey, and I enjoyed the red beans as it balances out the sweetness. We also ordered their waffles, and it was fluffy and sweet, served with icecream, cream and syrup.
We went in on a wet night, and as soon as we step in here you can tell this place gets very stuffy because the place is too small for the high demand. There were 5 of us so one of us had to grab a chair and sit on the end of the table which looked uncomfortable as they literally in the way of customers/workers as the place is so small. You can see people playing card games or even doing their homework or work on laptop.

I’ve been to this place several times with some friends. Food is okey. I experienced one time the customer service is not really good. Maybe that lady was tired already. I’m writing this review so that they will improve their customer service. Ta!

Been here a few times, great place and nice environment to hang out w friends. Dessert taste good but drinks are average. Nice and friendly service.

I ordered tofu with pearls (hot). It was super delicious!! Not too sweet. A bit pricey $9 though. But it was yummy. Customer service fair. Tables and chairs very tidy.

Come here for desserts sometimes and it's nice to have a Meet Fresh branch on the Shore. I normally order the taro ball or shaved ice dishes which are great.
LLay01
I paid $10 for the sago and $6 for 2 pieces of Mochi split in half. Not worth it. Customer service not bad. Food is okay, feels store bought.
Aimee.
My friends and I love coming here after dinner to pig out on some dessert. The dessert is perfect because it’s not overly sweet or heavy or dense so you don’t feel completely bloated afterwards. We love the taro and sweet potato shaved ice and the herbal jelly.

I just called the store to place an order and the woman just spoke chinese to me after i told her i spoke english. After she spoke some more chinese to me she hung up on me. Maybe get someone who speaks english to operate the phone because the experience was unpleasant and pretty rude. I mean drinks are pretty good tho.

Visited Meet fresh so many times but I got to say the standard in albany team is far away from the city Meet fresh one! Most of the drinks I ordered was pretty bland and desserts also not taste as good as when I try out in the city! Ambience is better out here, bathroom is tidy and not dirty like city one!
Food and drinks 3/5
Ambience 4/5
Service 3/5

Great food, the desserts taste traditional as they make it in Taiwan. Definitely overpriced and would only come occasionally as a treat because of that. My personal favourite is the red bean shaved ice. The staff there were somewhat helpful and the facilities were clean.

Very inconsistent everyone I come here they always make it different (I guess they don't have a legit recipe and maybe have a manual like spoonful of red bean or handful of taro lol) I think now snowman had opened up in albany and more places selling asian desserts on the shore down the road maybe they will be shutting down but the only good thing about them is that they open on sun so after soju sat you can still come here and get the all the sugary stuff (every now and then I want sweets for hangover day)
J.Ca
the milk tea here is the best, there Are more and more milk tea store appear in Albany, but i still like meet fresh. go to meet fresh is a hobby we talk, play and rest there. i realy like cheese top with milk tea

A little pricy but other than that everything was great! My go to place when I’ve got a sweet tooth. They open till late. Their food is served quite fast. Plenty of parking. Highly recommend!

Food tastes ok, but since price increase it's a bit expensive to come regularly now. If you do go, I'd recommend something with the taro ball and pearls. Waffle is overpriced for the amount u get and is served cold and isn't crispy.

Would get 2.5/5 rating if it wasn't for customer service. I used the toilet, but there was no soap - ok, I tell them they ran out of soap and ask for a refill. Get told they don't have any more. I say "Then how do you guys wash your hands?" She hesitates, mutters something about washing them in the kitchen, but refused to bring me some of the kitchen soap for me to use. No apologies, very unhygienic. I really question whether they actually have any soap in the store. Makes me wonder how clean their hands are when making my food/drink....

4/5 Taste
3.5/5 Display
4/5 Quantity
2.5/5 Customer Service

Chinese style dessert cafe

I personally didn't enjoy their most popular menus, for first time triers I recommend the snow shaved ice desserts. They come in big portion and just cannot fail.

Food is average but good enough to satisfy a sweet tooth when you are so far away from town. I live very close by so I visit quite often, have not had a bad service day, which is nice. Quality of their food is pretty consistent I'd say. Plus they open till 12pm, what more can I ask for.

Me & 3 went to this cafe as were wanting a cafe that was open late, they are open 12-12. 2 of us had a matcha latte, and each ordered a different dessert. I particularly like red beans. I was very impressed with the attentiveness of the staff - they bought beakers for us to share the drinks and extra cutlery. Really enjoyed the food and drink. 2days later I went with my daughter to meet fresh in Dominion rd. Unfortunately for us but great for the cafe, it was so crowded and noisy. I think it was the low ceiling, Again I enjoyed my food and drink, but because of the noise didn't stay long. I would recommend the Rosedale cafe, but I'm sure any of their outlets are worth the experience

A good place to have Taiwan style dessert. It's not that sweet like western dessert. It's correct for Asian gusto.

Excellent environment, it's great to hang out with your friends here. The mochi or daifuku are a little too expensive for its worth. The price for the taro balls and herb jelly is a little high-$8 (it used to be around $6.00 ) Although I have no complaints about the quality, the price does not match up. (The mango ice is great though, I recommend it to be shared between two) Overall, it's very good, but I miss the variated/coloured taro balls.
Blackpearl
Our new favourite place to hang out! Their desserts taste fresh and not too sweet which I like. I love their tofu pudding and my husband loves their herbal jelly. Would go back again to try other dishes!

The first time I visited it was great fast service and delicious food but the next time we went the service had dropped we waited ages for our food and it was definitely not as good as before (only 1 week in between visits) I got the mango shaved ice and it was thick chunks of ice and it was so watery was very very disappointing

That's a fantastic please to relax. The dessert was delicious and the service was good. The staffs were friendly. I pretty love the black tea and enjoying it in such a comfortable place

One of my favourite desert shops in Auckland. Service was good. I ordered one strawberry mini waffle and it tastes extraordinary. I love the environment here. Definitely coming back.
Ling Su
The place was clean and tidy. The service was good. The staffs I met were friendly. I like the bubble milk tea:) however, if they can have big size one will be great.

Doesn't compare to Mellow in the city but this is the best North Shore has got. It's always pretty packed even though the weather is cold, lol (I don't mind, it's a good sign right?). This place hasn't disappoint yet except from my latest visit, when I was given the wrong order. It was a take out so I didn't realise until I got home. I decided to eat it anyway ... It was nice but still quite annoyed how it was different from what I ordered. Anyway, I think I'm still gonna keep coming back to this place when I can't be bothered travelling across the bridge.

This asian style dessert place is our favourite late-night hang out spot, non-alcoholic type. We like their mango shaved ice (super huge and is for 2 people at least), herbal jellies and winter melon tea. They also have a range of hot desserts which is perfect for upcoming winter. Out of all the Meet Fresh that we have tried, our fav is the Albany branch - quick, fast and generous portion. Plenty of parking on site too.

I visited on a Monday after school. I ordered a tofu pudding with red bean which I did enjoy but i would of preferred more red bean but for that case they allow you to choose extra toppings. For 8 dollars the portion size was ok but nothing to really brag about. My friend ordered the waffles which were nice but i wouldn't order it myself as I believe its over priced. However I will return to try out the other desserts.
Jack
Apart from one of our drinks looked retarded with the pearls floating above (see photos attached), very well made deserts. Can get quite busy.
Lovely Maralit
First time trying this place. Very interesting flavours. I got taro ball no. 4 and the ambience was nice, Asian feeling but Quite busy tho.
L G
Portions are big and generally a good dessert place. My personal favourite is the mango shaved ice that is so big that it can be shared between 4 people or more. The staff however was on their phone most of the time. The place looked clean and good ambience.
Ruth Gong
The food is very similar to the original Meet Fresh in Taiwan. The average price is $8 per bowl. There are many choices between taro ball, herb jelly or tofu pudding. My favourite is taro ball number 6 (photo). The place has great ambience and a great environment for a catch up. The staff may sometimes be a little rude but overall the experience was quite enjoyable.

I have come here before and the other times the food fine. This time, I was absolutely appalled by the quality of food I received. I don't usually write reviews but I think that people definitely need to know about my experience and be warned so it doesn't happen to them. The staff today were unhelpful and bordering on being rude. Having ordered a takeaway, when I went home I realised that TWO THIRDS of the dessert was just ICE. They also 'forgot' to give me syrup. (And I know what I ordered, it usually is not like this). I am extremely unhappy that I have paid nearly $10 for a bowl of ice and bad service. I don't know if they thought I was taking away so I wouldn't know, or if I don't look like the type of person who would usually buy this and so they didn't care. But this is definitely not up to standard and I will not be coming back again.

Been here quite a few times as I enjoy the ambience and the environment. The food is alright but the staff service is appalling. We ordered one cold and one warm taro ball however, we were given two warm bowls. The staff is very unfriendly and unwilling to serve us. If you cannot finish your bowl they charge extra for takeaway which I think is ridiculous as I have already paid $8+ per bowl.

Been here just once and have only tried two desserts (grass jelly and tofu with taro balls). The soft tofu desserts brings nostalgia to me as it's similar to a Filipino dessert (taho) that I used to eat when I was little, so I really enjoyed eating it. Although for the non Asian or people who haven't tried Asian desserts, will definitely find the desserts weird as it's not as sweet as you'd expect from a Western dessert eg. Cakes and they will probably be unfamiliar with the ingredients. Service was okay - there wasn't really any? You basically just order on the counter and you get the food when it's ready. Pricing is alright too, portions are quite big, good for sharing between 2 people and I like that they close at midnight.
Biohazard
Very Taiwanese style dessert bar, so don't expect to find slices and cakes here. The flavours are not for everyone but what you get is quite similar to those you get in Sydney and dare I say, in Taiwan. Friendly staff.

Meet Fresh stores have recently popped up and the one in town is always crowded, so thought we would give this place a go.

Easy parking, lots of eating, great for big groups.

The ordering process is kind of weird though. You go up to the counter, order and pay, they give you a beeper and you go back to your seat. When your beeper beeps, you go up and grab your tray. I would think at a place like this, they would come to your table to take your order, or at least bring the food to you??

Anyway, not sure if I liked my sweet tofu with barley dessert.... Maybe someone who likes that stuff would like it, maybe I just chose the wrong thing for myself.

My boyfriend ordered a taro drink and red bean mochi. The mochi was very yum!

It's a nice place to hang out while enjoying a sweet treat, and more importantly, the store opens until midnight - this will make a nice supper.

I ordered Taro Ball No. 4 and it was not too bad - just make sure u mix the syrup well before u eat and do not order cold one when it's freezing cold outside (winter/autumn)! It will make u freezing from inside. I used to think that Taiwanese dessert should be consumed chill but the hot ones turned out to be nice as well. The taro ball was chewy enough and the red bean added more flavour into the dessert. Next time I will try the tofu pudding or grass jelly menus. Should try a lot of variations to decide which one is better.

The price, for me, is okay. It is still under $10 and the portion is more than enough to be enjoyed individually (sharing would be better, in my opinion since the portion is big for me). The service is nice as well - I like the way they deliver the order. They will give u a remote with LED lights that will blink once the order has been made so we just go to the counter to ask for our order. I have never seen the method like that in other restaurant. Fancy!
