Review Machi Machi - Albany

Julia Sakaguchi
I've been hearing reviews that it may not meet the hype so have been extending my visit for 2+ years. Wish I had gone sooner because their drinks are amazing. If you're lactose intolerant but still want to try the cheese or milk foam the foam at machi machi is the best one to try. Flavour was great!

It was not busy compared to when they just opened the store. I waited for around 10 minutes for my drink. Their tea is strong and the cheese foam is delicious. The store is now extended their opening hour until late. Yay 🙌 Only take away, no space for having tea in the store. Parking was always busy as they share parking lots with other neighbor stores.

Unlike other bubble tea places, this place focuses on the tea itself instead of other flavours. Their menu is quite limited but interesting. There isn't much parking in the area and it was full when I was there so I had to find some street parking nearby. There seems to always be a line. It was about a 30-minute wait in line followed by a 20-minute wait for the tea. Part of the long wait is that they brew the tea fresh so it does mean a lot of waiting. There are seats inside to wait from but they also call you if you aren't there to pick up the order. The tea itself is nice and the predominant flavour of the drink is tea. I had the tea panna cotta and was a bit disappointed that the bottle was made of plastic instead of glass. It was nice but I do prefer flavoured teas. It would be worth the wait if you like tea.

Very cute bottle! Taste great! First time try drink with panna cotta, it was yummy! Panna cotta was smooth and soft pudding texture. Lot of cute photo spots available at store. Great spots for instagram📸

The taste is a bit too sweet for me. But generally good bubble tea and welcoming environment.

Had their number one choice black tea with creme brulee 50% sugar. It was the right sweetness. Super fun drink as you get to taste the fragrance of the black tea first and then near the end when we open the lid and drink the creme brulee bit which even had the torched sugar on top. Reasonably price with such a large and tasty drink. One of my favourite bubble tea drink so far.

One of the best milk tea shops, I quite like their atmosphere, simple but nice and cute. Because it is famous already so you have to wait in a long queue. I like the oolong tea with cheese foam and baked dango.

Still first week opening. Queue very long but during this tough time opening new business already hard enough let alone global chain. Will come back to try more flavour.

The bubble tea here is quite different from everywhere else. Smooth taste with nicely balanced sugar. Hot bubble tea normally needs to wait longer than cold drinks. The bottle is a bit hard to open for girls tho.

The day we went the wait was long but the line was moving faster than I expected. Personally I wouldn’t want to wait that long for bubble tea on the regular but I just wanted to try this place out. From getting in the line to getting our drinks it took about 35 minutes. I got one of the pannacotta drinks and it was good but I didn’t love it. I’d want to try some of their other drinks especially as the matcha drinks weren’t available yet when we went. The staff were quite friendly and cheerful despite how busy it was. Would consider coming back maybe when the hype dies down.
