We managed to get a last minute early booking, we had stayed at Millbrook several times however this was the first time dining at Kobe. It did not disappoint, one of the finest Japanese meals weve experienced. Serving sizes were on the smaller side however packed with flavour. Small but cozy restaurant. Dishes were plated like works of art. Good selection of drinks.

It took some serious looking to even find this place but it was well worth the effort in almost freezing temperatures! Authentic, delicious and so very very comfortable to dine with. Kobe is situated within the Millbrook Resort, and has been run by the same chef for some 20+ plus years. Their food is delicate but flavours are lively. We ate in front of the Teppan, and it was an awesome experience to watch the chef cook up your next meal. Definitely coming again.

Food was exquisite, perfectly executed and worth the higher price tag. The staff were warm and welcoming, and after we shared that we were there to celebrate for a friend, the kitchen presented us with a surprise congratulations dessert platter on the house. It was such a delight 🥰 I’m giving 4 stars because I wished the seating arrangements were more cosy. I like how the kitchen extends out into the service bench all the way to the teppan seating, but the sparse arrangements of tables and the fact that our table was right in front of the door meant the ambience wasn’t what I expected.

If you are in Queenstown and want to have a. Amazing Japanese Dinner experience , this is your place. If you can get a spot by the Tepanaki and watch the chef do the cooking .... that’s a bonus.
The presentation on the plates it’s amazing and from all the places I’ve tried they have the most Amazing Dessert ever ... it’s a must.
Friendly staff, nice terrace if you are there in a nice day. Even if you are not staying in Millbrook, it’s worth to go for dinner

Really good food. The salmon sashimi melts in your mouth. Staff are friendly and will guide you through the menu. Inside it was quiet and homely.

Delicious food and fun experience. We sat next to the kitchen and watched the food being made for entertainment. Our servers were great- they talked us through the menu, and helped us select a satisfying à la carte meal. While it was all good, the most notable were the salmon ceviche tacos. Highly recommend.

Dinner at Kobe last night was an unforgettable experience. The food was refined, interesting, and melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The ambience was elevated by the warmth and professionalism of the staff, particularly our waitress (Scottish accent, we didn’t catch her name). If you are ever visiting Queenstown and looking for a nice night out (price tag be damned), this is the place to go.

We decided to dine at Kobe Cuisine for our last night at the Millbrook. The service received was top class, and all staff were extremely friendly. We were seated right at the grill where all night we could watch our food being made. The food had met and exceeded all expectations, most certainly the best Japanese cuisine I have had to date. We will be back again next time

Honestly... I have lived in Queenstown for 2.5 years and eaten at LOADS of restaurants, but this one blew me away! We tried 9 dishes and each one was absolutely perfect. We watched as the chef prepared the food on the tepanyaki grill and he was so lovely as he chatted to us about the cuisine he makes and what the flavours are. Would definitely go back!

Open kitchen Japan-style with inside and outside dining and from inside an unexpectedly dramatic vista across the lower valley towards the Remarkables and Queenstown. Attentive service, casual atmosphere, modest plate sizes which we thought would drive up our dining cost but our final cost of around $100 for two (food) plus our wine choice was fair value. The sushi and sashimi plate was first class in content and presentation. The pork brought back nostalgic memories of fine dining in Japan.

Very nice, step up from your average Japanese restaurant. Big flavor explosions.<br/><br/>We had tuna sushi, wagyu beef and the scallops with rice cakes which were all amazing. <br/><br/>My only mention is the size of the dishes are so small that one person needs 3 mains to be satisfied. So expect $100 per head on food alone for a decent meal.
