Review Panthers Rock - Ashburton

Wonderful country pub with an excellent outdoor area for families. The food range is very extensive and the burgers are very tasty! The Sunday Music sessions are a great event to look out for with live music out under the shade of the trees while enjoying food and a bevy.

First time visit this place for lunch. Exceptional friendly service from owner Deb and staff Abby. It was busy but didn't have to wait long for my Massive Mixed Grill-Ribeye steak, sausage, bacon, two eggs, grilled tomato, grilled mushroom and heaps of fried chips. My steak was cooked to perfection. Will come back to try their black board menu.

Husband happy with his spare ribs. Great service I only wish I had remembered the cheerful waitress name only that she moved down from Auckland. What a delight she was. Sadly we thought the cost of our food & drinks were expensive ( over $80).

Lovely little country place kind of combo restaurant and bar. Great food with big portions for reasonable prices. Great friendly staff and obviously popular with the locals.

Brilliant service, one of our meals was wrong, but they were very apologetic and sorted out very quickly. 6 stars! The fish sliders, were super fresh! 🐟

7 of us for lunch, inc 1 child who was given pencils and puzzle - well done! The hot chocolate looked amazing - wish I’d had one. My chicken filo was bigger than expected, very tasty filling. Others were very happy with their chicken salad, roasted pumpkin soup and sliders (the fish sliders may have raised my envy). If you’re in or passing near Mayfield make sure you stop in, you won’t be disappointed.

I arrived for a late lunch. We chose from the chef's choices. I had the soup with garlic bread. I asked for the gluten free option. The chef made gf garlic bread. I was delighted as usually the gf option is plain butter. The soup was delicious. My partner had the pasta. He said it was delicious and flavorsome. Our second time at Panthers Rock. It did not disappoint. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth going to.

Almost typical country pub but bright, clean, modern and elevated menu, but retaining pub prices. Charming staff. Totally worth the stop.

Such a wonderful place and a very proud and kind owner Alice who helped us on a rainy and chilly night during closing time with not only delicious food but also helped us dry our clothes (as we were riding a motorcycle) and comforted us with a warm room and hot water. She also called up her friend and booked up a motel for us. All this help along with such a delicious food even after the kitchen was closed, Alice we are very thankful to you, you are an angel to us.

Our local restraunt and bar. Can't fault the food, absolutely delicious and have never had any problems!! It's especially amazing because it's a hidden gem. Atmosphere is always great, always warm with the fire lit, service is very friendly! Happy to say we are regular customers :)

Excellent food and friendly staff! They stayed open late for us and served up a delicious roast pork dinner with asparagus, potatoes, sweet potato, and superb gravy. Speights on tap to wash it down. Gave us seats by the fire and made us feel just like family. Will definitely be returning.

10/10, great food and great service. Nothing made our first day in NZ better than finding this place on our way to Lake Tekapo.

A couple of days ago we needed to get to Queenstown from Franz Josef, but due to the road closures after the cyclone, we had to do a 14 hour detour. We needed a break from driving and came across Panthers Rock and we could not believe our luck. The staff there were so amazing and did everything they could to help us on our way (quick service, filled our water bottles, offered us advice etc.) and the food was also really good. To the staff at Panthers Rock, we were so touched by your hospitality, thank you so much!

We stopped for ice coffee and a snack after our hike. Service was super fast and the staff were very friendly. I had a brownie and my husband had a sausage roll. Both were deliciously home made - as was the moreish tomato sauce! Will definitely come back for a meal.

The chips were very nice, my iced coffee was only nice once I managed to mix a bit of the cream & ice cream in: too much cream so I spilled! Mr fruend's smoothie was apparently not as berry-ish as it looked. A tad on the expensive side too. The servers were really friendly though.
