Work trip for a night so looking for a nice dinner spot. Very good place for dinner on your own. Modern approach and decor juxtaposed nicely with the antique bathroom fittings and style. Excellent and friendly service from the ladies front of house.
Starters lovely. Never had black garlic.
Mains very good (fish paella with just enough crisp on the bottom. :) No room for desert unfortunately.

Had the most amazing meal! The fried chicken started was 10/10 and the presentation was also amazing, Raising the steaks was absolutely divine ! Steak cooked perfectly and it just melted in my mouth, rhe potatos were delish and the cauliflower had some seasoning on it that just tasted amazing! the cheeseburger was HUGE !!! And packed full of flavor! Cocktails were beautiful in taste and appearance and the beer came in a really nice cold cup which was a nice touch! The atmosphere was lovely, as were the staff! Will definitely be back!!!!

We had an out off this world experience with a 3 course dinner and Iād have to say, it was the best steak I have ever had.
I finished with the biggest Affogato in the world.
The service was perfection.
I love to dress up a little for this place and make a night of it.

Do yourself a favour and come here, the food is incredible, the cocktails delicious and refreshing and the service was lovely.
We ordered the venison croquettes, kawakawa fries, pork belly and the filet. Everything was cooked to perfection and we will happily be back!!
The best burger i have tasted in years and the fries were amazing. Lovely venue with balcony and great service. Itās absolutely worth seeking this place out on the 2nd storey.

Stopped for the late lunch on the escape from home for the weekend trip... Great atmosphere, quick and friendly service. Food was excellent - baked camembert with freeze dried manuka honey etc. was absolutely amazing! Will stop by again for sure!
With the Little Creatures on tap The Fine Lion is definitely an iconic place to have a brunch with your workmates on this sunny long weekend afternoon in Ashburton. Menu has a wide assortment from the starters to the main meal. Chicken, beef, lamb, sea food - you name it. Had a nice chat with the owners about the place. Very high standards. Bathroom is a Museum.
