Review The Store - Auckland Central

Elena Khrustalyova
Fantastic place for brunch. We have discovered it by accident and it has become favorite regular brunch spot. I love the piccolo coffee, beautiful eggs benedict, asparagus is absolutely delicious, haloumi usually is pretty spot on too! And service is impeccable! I highly recommend it to anyone who loves delicious and beautiful brunch🍳

Tried the grill and the hotcakes. the grill was a typical "big breakfast" equivalent, and no complaints. The hotcakes were a surprise as it was a large for the price. Both dishes were tasy. Leaving a 4* as i'm likely to return.

Pancakes are awesome, the best ones I found around CBD area.

First visit here. Was so impressed. The service was great and the food amazing! Food arrived really quickly too. Will be back very soon.

We had a fantastic breakfast here and went back the following day. I ordered the big breakfast and my husband had the pancake. Both of the dishes we ordered were cook to perfection!
Heather Beasley
Very nice breakfast or brunch spot. Staff were very pleasant and food was delicious.

Lived the free sparkling water. Great food. I had the big breakfast which was all good value. Perfectly cooked ingredients. Flat White was nice all the service was also good. Great place to sit out in the sun on a good day

Very nice place, the floor staff was amazing. Food was delicious, it's definitely worth visiting!

The customer service was outstanding and we were extremely impressed by the food and coffee. Highly recommend the Halloumi, broccoli, carrot, poached eggs with sherry vinaigrette dish and also the Asparagus & Ricotta Omelette. Will definitely be back again very soon.

We ordered the eggs Benedict and the pancakes. Both were incredible. It has nice indoor and outdoor seating. Its not possible to reserve a table, and popular but we were sat down quickly on a Sunday early afternoon. Service was excellent. Thoroughly recommend!

Solid brunch food, service is good.

Disappointed to say the least. Went to The Store on the weekend. It’s a nice place in britomart with a great atmosphere but the beef burger I ordered for $25 dollars was bland. The meat wasn’t seasoned at all, while I was eating it I thought to myself that even I could do a better job. The chips were dry, I had to keep drinking my water, so the dipping sauce is a must. The red sauce tasted like clove oil which was disgusting. Took me back to the days when I had tooth ache and my mum would put it on my tooth for the pain. The price is okay everything considering everything in Auckland costs an arm and a leg. Have to give props for the chips portion though was impressed on that. Usually restaurants are so povo and stingy they give you like 5 fries. Not this place, they didn’t skimp. Would maybe give it another shot and try their brunch menu as my friend found her dish quite pleasant. Staff are nice and the seating area was lovely!

Great location and good crowd. Went there for brunch and the food was pretty okay, but the service is very slow unfortunately.

I had the granola at a brunch session. It was overall good but I feel the menu could be a bit more elaborative! The outside seating area is lovely and it is close to Britomart which is very convenient.
Foodventurer
Overpriced food and drinks when the taste isn’t so good. I had pasta salad which tasted extremely bland, and a bottle of juice which was way too overpriced. Sat outside but due to the constructions right in front of the cafe I could not chat with my friends and had to inhale all the dust from the roadwork. Nice friendly and polite staff though.

Asking a straw for my soda water. One of waitress told me straw only for smoothie.... I have to go in and take one straw for myself..

I came here for brunch with two friends. The Store is the perfect brunch place in the summer as most of the seating is outdoor, so you can enjoy the sun while having a conversation. I got the eggs on toast (poached) with a side of bacon, one of my friend got the berry hotcakes and my other friend got the smashed eggs.

My friend said his hot cake was a bit too sweet so he was struggling to finish it but my other friend enjoyed her smashed eggs. My poached eggs were cooked well and the bacon was delicious as it was very lean and not very fatty.

The service is worth mentioning as it was very good. The waitress who served us asked if we wanted our photo taken even though we didn’t ask her and she also gave us something so our table will stop wobbling even though we didn’t ask.

The only downside is it was a bit expensive. I was charged $19.50 for eggs on toast with bacon.

Was a regular here over the years. The food is top notch and makes for a delicious brunch, and the staff are always excellent. I enjoy the seating area and blankets during cold seasons....it would be good to have more variation in the menu, but also it is rather expensive for meals- so more of a treat thing.

got their donut for takeaway earlier , both were so yummy ! generous filling and texture so soft and fluffy; and they werent too sweet as well! :)
I found the fish had to much batter for my liking but apart from that everything was divine! This is my second time at The Store and I would definitely go back next time I’m in the city. This place is a little pricey but for the service, portions and vibes it’s totally worth it.
Chan Can Eat
Great coffee and fab cabinet food. The store owns coffee in britomart
I’ve had breakfast here also, but not in a while, I do remember it was delicious
Rosanne Choy
Came in today for a birthday lunch with friends. Tried food from the menu and the cabinet. Got the feta danish, gnocchi and the kumara with halloumi. Service was really good. Waitress kept refilling my sparkling water and asked if I wanted more food :)

I read an article online, praising 'The Store' for amazing pies, the second best in the city!
Excitedly, I happily paid $7 for a beef and red wine pie.
They couldn't have been more wrong.
No gravy to be seen in the pie anywhere?? The meat, HORRIDLY overcooked, literally HARD in some places. The pastry was miserable and in some parts was chewier than the over cooked meat.
If you're looking for a pie, I'd recommend your local convenience store warmer over this place.
0/10 I would recommend avoiding.

Great place for a coffee in Britomart (they use All Press) plus the bonus of complimentary sparkling water is always a draw card for me. Prices are on the higher side for brunch but they use really good quality ingredients, and the dishes are not your run of the mill cafe dishes. You can also order the salads from the takeaway side (round the back), to have in the dine in area as a cheaper lunch alternative. They don’t have much in the way of indoor seating but have heaters on and blankets available for use in winter.

The Store, you've knocked it out of the park with this brekky. Early mornings are hard enough as it is but a start like this sets you up for the day. The coffee was good and strong. Special mention to the sausages here!
Cheapeatobsession
impeccable staff and service! Enjoyed every moment of dining here. Food was delicious with amazing choice. Lovely and super friendly staff. Food was worth the money. Eggs benedict was lovely with the difference of smoked fish. Also ordered something from the deli and they brought it to my table! Would definitely go again.

Has great cabinet food, I enjoy their almond croissants to go. Their one is crispy but moist in the middle. Slightly smaller but they give you a serviette with it which I think is an added bonus compared to other bakeries nearby. ive also tried pancakes a while ago, very fluffy and pretty with flowers. Neat environment out the back with tables, the cabinet area is small. Service is good ad efficient.

We visited The Store for lunch today. I was recommended the butternut and ricotta ravioli which I chose to order and a cold pressed Broccoli juice. The ravioli was absolutely incredibly, the flavours were to die for. It was $23 for the ravioli and it came with 3 large pieces. It was slightly on the smaller side, I would have liked an extra piece or two for the price, however the flavours made up for it. The broccoli juice was super fresh and delicious, and didn't have any foam which was really nice.My friend ordered the Grilled Chicken salad. The chicken was over cooked and dry, and the overall salad was very bland, and at $24 we felt it was way too expensive. We had just the day before had a Chicken Ceasar salad which was 10x better and cheaper. My friend noticed one of the waitresses was carrying meals out to some other customers and coughed over the food. We understand her hands were full, but there was no turning away or anything. We received very good service from our waiters however, and our waters were constantly topped up.All in all, we were relatively happy and would go again for the Ravioli if we weren't too hungry and were willing to treat ourselves.

Had the muesli for brunch and it was delicious! Ambience was pretty and they have heaters on so it's not freezing to sit outside despite the weather being chilly. Would love to visit again during the summer.
Luz !
This one has a nice business scene ambience and is conveniently located. Great to stop by for a quick informal meeting or to have a break for a decent coffee while being in Britomart. The food is acceptable, a bit overpriced for what you get - I guess it is the location.
Mashed_Potato
Great place to start your weekend! Outside seating, fresh air and a great variety of great pastries. Great MYO breakfast for 2 only $24 :)
Great place and will be back!

Very nice food and service, coffee was absolutely amazing. Food was very yummy.

Car park was a bit hard to find.

Food: 8/10
Service: 9/10
Cost: 8/10

Average place for breakfast in the city. Tried the Ricotta pancakes, pancakes tasted good and were filling but something tasted abit ‘off’ maybe the lemon curd or something? Would say the serving size for the smoothies is quite small for $8.

I think this place is way too hyped and theres not too many options on the menu.

Wouldn’t mind coming back, but deffs not my go to breakfast place in the city.

Quick coffee and a tasty little pain au chocolat. The store is best on a sunny day under the wide umbrellas with friends and chattering people!

Friendly staff, good grub and great coffee! What more could a girl ask for?
In my quest for mushroom gnocchi, I stumbled on the store in the heart of britomart. While they didn’t have mushroom gnocchi, I did have their with tomatoes, ricotta and hazelnut, which was not as satisfying as a mushroom gnocchi, but was quite delicious nonetheless. The coffee is quite good, which makes me sad that they close so early.
I need to come back to try their iced coffee which is an affogatto with milk - yummers! They also have a chocolate version with chocolate ganache instead of espresso which would appeal to chocolate aficionados.
Am I coming back? Most certainly!

I love coming here for a coffee and chat with friends. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are always very friendly. I keep coming back to this cafe over and over again. Highly recommended. Also popped in for lunch and tried the eggs bene with the smoked fish, holy it was good, a little on the dry side but lived the flavours together.
Jewel
Good breakfast here. I love scramble eggs and they cooked it’s so nice tomatoes very juicy too. Avocado on flat bread also yummy but the bread too hard they should improve it. Service is good.

Had an amazing brunch here - very friendly staff who all worked efficiently and with a smile :) The food was beautifully presented and the portions were very generous! My gnocchi with tomatoes, ricotta, walnuts and a poached egg was divine and my hubby loved his mascapone and orange hotcakes - He also praised the hot chocolate he ordered saying it was one of the best!
Loved the relaxed vibe around this area and will definitely pop in again.

Came here for a date with my boyfriend and was immensely impressed with the atmosphere - really friendly staff and nice decor and vibe. What really let it down was the food that we got. I ordered the burger which was nice, not the best I've ever had though, and the agria chips were a bit dry and didn't come with any sauces which I was a bit disappointed about. My boyfriend ordered the avocado flat bread which he wasn't entirely impressed about. We ordered two milkshakes as well and for $8 each we were expecting something a bit bigger than the size of a slim water glass. Salted caramel milkshake was a big let down - not much flavour and had large chunks, of I have no idea what, inside. As I was drinking it I found a huge lump at the bottom and dug it out to see what it was. Expecting it to be like a chunk of syrup or whatever I tried a bit but it was disgusting - tasted like grainy fat. For the price point that The Store is at, I was hoping for a better meal. Bit of a disappointment but maybe we just got a bad batch.

A great spot downtown for a coffee and brunch! The inside is nice and toasty and the outside seating looked pretty comfortable too. We had the granola and the hotcakes, both of which were fantastic and well worth the price!

This is about their Takeaway shop (right next to the restaurant itself). I've never been to the restaurant.

I've been to the Takeaway shop probably 5 times due to they have a nice rating in a list I saw online for pies in the CBD. Out of the 5 times I've been there only twice did they actually have any pies in stock and both those times it was one type. That pretty much sums up the shop. They always are out of everything and it always looks like a mess (90% of the stuff isn't labelled).

I suspect the entire purpose of this shop is to get rid of stuff they don't need in the restaurant (either it's old or restaurant has too much). If I didn't actually see the kitchen and people working in it I would assume they don't make anything themselves (otherwise why wouldn't you make new stuff when you run out?).

Anyway don't waste your time going here, I've finally given up.

We stopped here for afternoon coffees and cakes. My piccolo was spot on and the cakes were just as delicious. Sat outside under a well placed heater and used their rugs for extra warmth 😊

Would like to return one day to try their mains.

The vibes in this restaurant is amazing! The staff we’re very funny and friendly. I ordered a market fish burger and it was good but not the best but the agria chips that came with it is amazing! Their braised lamb pappardelle was also amazing along with their hot chocolate and matcha latte! Great place to eat lunch in!

Came here for lunch but it was really for breakfast ... busy but nice seating outside only complaint would be the tables as you can’t put your feet under it...
friendly service
We ordered:
The Grill... replaced mushrooms with smoked market fish
The Grill... replaced bacon with greens
Both very nice
Jess
Great place for a lunch with friends on a nice day. They have lots of outdoor seating, so the best time to catch it would be when the weather is good. We had the gnocchi and the market fish, both of which were really delicious. It didn’t look like a lot at the time, but we both felt pretty full afterwards. The fruit teas are also quite refreshing and colourful! Would definitely look forward to going there again some time.

Brief menu. With a very tasty breakfast. Mushrooms were the best.
Very friendly staff that were informative and accommodating. Clean and great setting.

This place was niiiiiiiiiice
We met a friend for lunch and sat outside, and Babycake had a cute little baby chair.
Coffee was yum, and I ordered pear and yoghurt on the macadamia spelt granola, our friend had a burger and Mr Cake outdid himself with a Jam Donut.
Ok so the donut was interesting because the store has both a cafe (where we were) and a like takeaway bakery thing filled with DELICIOUS treats but is on the other side of the cafe area (like at different ends of a rectangle if you know what I mean) Eg I had to walk out of The Store, down the road and into the bakery to look at the cabinet, then walk back to tell the waitress we would have a donut.
The waitress then collected a donut and served it to us in the cafe alongside the meals and we paid for the whole thing together at the cafe at the end?
It seems it would be better if either the waitress knew what the bakery was serving so she could tell
you rather than sending you for a walk and a look.

Came here for Saturday brunch and I ordered the burger and a latte. Wow! I think it might be one of the best burger I’ve tried. The portion is good, the price is fair and the place is nice especially on a sunny day. I might come back again!.

A quick snack at around 11:30 was a good experience for the adults but not so for a 4 year old. Funky upmarket health inspired cuisine does not do it for under 7 year group - no burgers or milkshakes (even the healthy version. Leave the kids at home - great food for urban metros and international passers through. Great fresh smoothies and super healthy and fresh salads.

The store is one of my favourite cafe to visit. love their friendly and kind staff. It was extreamly hot day and ordered green tea, pepper mint and apple tea and it was super freshing and had cute flower for decoration. Always love their fresh and fine dishes they put up on the table.

Very close to where I live, have been many times and consistently very good. Love their big breakfast and they make delicious fries with skin left on, market fish always fresh. Outdoor seating ambience works perfect...

Great ambience, excellent service and food. Had the Bacon, Toulouse sausage, hash browns, poached eggs and artisan bread. From the menu it says mushrooms as well, however there was none but a few cherry tomatoes so I was a little disappointed. Everything was perfectly cooked and good. Would definitely try the other dishes next time.

Came here 20 minutes before their kitchen closed, yet the staff were very nice about it!

We got the Organic Chicken Salad and their Agria Gnocchi.
The chicken salad did the trick perfectly for me; vinegar dressing with such tender and moist chicken! Usually the chicken can be dry and over cooked but this was cooked to perfection. The creamy feta pieces tied the flavours and textures to the dish amazingly well. I scraped the plate clean.

The gnocchi, which was potato based was good! I can see why it’s one of The Store’s popular dishes. However it wasn’t the right dish for my friend, but I personally would have enjoyed it.

Service is very friendly! Would come back again to try their hot cakes.

Wanting some brunch in the afternoon, so had the ricotta hotcakes and hash browns, both of which were different from what I expected, in the best way. Pretty presentation and subtle taste! Hotcakes unexpectedly largely portioned, so you could easily choose it as a dish to share.

Better yet, service is very friendly and accommodating.

The Store is one of the best places to go to in Britomart. The service is great and so is the food. I would most definitely recommend the store.
Jimon007
Nice atmosphere & looks very trendy. In terms of food - been to places which are not nice as this but dishes were much better than this. Don't be fooled by the decoration - not yummy. The staff there was rather impolite asked us several times whether we finished our meal which made us feel uncomfortable.

Once again although I am posting photos of the meals we had, they were not tasty. I will not go back. This place is in the list of places to avoid.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
A quality food establishment within the Britomart area. This cafe was quite busy so decided to take a gander at it as stomach was rumbling for breakfast.

Friendly greeting and taken straight to a table. They were pretty busy and keeping up with the flow of people. Water brought straight away and asked if I wanted a drink but decided to check out the menu first before ordering.

I decided upon a Matcha Latte and something I don’t usually see at breakfast which was a gnocchi with ham and poached egg. Sounded good so went with that. The matcha latte had a good taste to it and wasn’t overly savoury. The gnocchi was well made and the perfectly poached egg had a nice runny yolk which added another contrast to the pasta, ham, and leeks.

Really nice food, nice ambiance and good vibe. Great for brunch and to catch up with friends!! Staff were friendly! I had the omelette, really tasty and well seasoned!

Great location chill vibe
Great place for breakfast before work
Had ricotta hotcakes and big breakfast; big portions, well done and decent price.

Did not disappoint. ~50 for two including coffee

Also had flat white, nicely done

3.5 Yums

We got the hot cakes, gnocchi, and the omelette. Starting with the hot cakes, it was probably the best one out of the 3 dishes as it was sweet and had a little cheesy taste to it. The lemon curd (that sweet lemony taste and a tiny bit of passionfruit sauce incorporated) and macadamia nuts worked really well with the sweetness of the hot cakes. The cream on top was a bit too much though.

The gnocchi was a tiny bit soggy and kind of tasted like the hot cakes just without that much sweetness. The leek was a good choice to the dish even though a bit more taste to it and garnishing would help the dish to lighten up.

The omelette wasn't what I had expected after reading the reviews about it. The first few bites was good when you eat everything together. However, as you keep on eating, each ingredient's distinct tastes just doesn't mix well together. The sausages' taste was way too strong and peppery, only the first few bites taste good. The pesto sauce didn't mix well with the eggs because it just made it even more oily. The overall taste to the dish which was strongly influenced by the sausages was a bit salty as you keep in eating it. A little sweet and sour would help.

Taste - 7/10
Size - 8/10
Service - 8/10
Price - 7.5/10

We went here for a brunch on Saturday. We had the Market fish with black currant and yogurt which ia divine and cooked to perfection, the combination of each ingredients just give a burst of flavours on your palate in each bite. The big breakfast was a winner too! Best sausage in most of the cafés we try to our search of good big breakfast, meat was tasty and generous servings.
The only downside is the waiting time-35minutes so the coffee is already finished by the time we have our meal. It would've been nice to wnjoy the meal with our warm coffee instead of sipping the coffee without the meal. Good friendly staff that's attentive if in case you'll need anything.

First time here, my dad is a regular and raves about how good their baguette sandwiches are. Came here with my dad actually upon this first visit and, he was right, the baguette sandwiches were amazing! The bread is fresh and a sandwich so simple was packed with flavour. Also had the fries, and out of all the fries I've tried in NZ. These are definitely a stand out. Not greasy, not dry and they were crispy and moreish. The service here was lovely and welcoming. I got a job around britomart so I'll be a new regular here for my morning coffee 😂

Food is so good. The pancakes are delicious 😍 Perfect for brunches and the food is very filling. It's a cute little cafe! Strongly recommend.

This cafe is lovely in winter. You can sit outside but there's heaters and they give you blankets too.
The big breakfast really is big, really filling. The sausage is delicious. The eggs benedict is really good as well. The hot cakes weren't that great but overall this place is really good.

Located at the heart of Britomart this place has a great ambiance, service, and food.

I went with my mom for a sit down breakfast and tried the Agria gnocchi with pumpkin, house ricotta, walnuts, and a poached egg. My mom had the eggs benedict with manuka smoked ham. I also ordered a beet/carrot/orange juice which was nice and fresh. Everything was enjoyable!

I've also made quick take away stops at The Store before work. I always get the yogurt parfait. I haven't found any other places which have those and theirs is quite good.
Ryan Wong
Great friendly service, quality food, comfortable place to hang around! Been here twice and the food taste great if not a little on the pricey side, big brekkie was filling and coffee was nice and strong. My buddies scon was dry and when he approached one of the guys up the counter he commented that it was 'a bit of a hit and miss'. That being said I'll probably be back!
Emma Barry
Delicious food. Love how they have multiple takeaway options and a salad bar. However they are let down by one of the managers. The customer services received multiple times by her has been rude and unhelpful. It makes me not want to eat here but love the food.
S&G Take Auckland
Love this little local in Britomart. Stopped by for a jam donut which was simple but delicious. Tastes like store bought jam but the actual donut was soft and suggary. The fig and custard dessert was average not much flavor to it

Had a great experience at The Store for lunch today. Waitor was very personable and took our orders efficiently but did not feel rushed at all. The outdoor setting is lovely, especially on a sunny day like today. Most importantly, the food was to die for. I had the Agria Gnocchi which was presented like a beautiful garden and came with heirloom tomatoes, a poached egg, ricotta and hazelnuts. The flavours were amazing! The portion was also just right, usually after gnocchi I'm left bloated but this was a really nice and light meal. I was so close to ordering seconds!!

I remember the first time I came here during my first year at uni. I was still getting used to the city area, thought I might do little walk about just to get the feel of the city life. Went and bought myself a Rhubarb Smoothie and as fancy as it sounds, so is the taste. I've never tasted Rhubarb in my life until then, needless to say I'm glad I did because the smoothie was so good.

The time I bought the smoothie was during the after noon, during that time it was very busy and the only reason I know why is because everyone must've been on their break. There was quite a line waiting to order and the waiting time was a bit long. But mind you I was only getting used the vibe here.

Upon entering, I felt kind of out of place. Here you have this uni student going inside a cafe where you see all these people wearing business clothes such as suits etc and I'm wearing casual summer clothes. But the layout and design is not all that bad. It's very futuristic and modern and they also have a very large dining area outside with large shade which is what everyone needs during the summer.
Tony Wang
Absolutely delightful meal here! Always busy but they do deliver great service. Food was great, price was acceptable. The only flaw might be sitting outdoor in a cold day. I would definitely recommend this place. :)

Totally recommend. Fabulous food..great service. Went for Sunday brunch and the place was buzzing..
Menu very interesting with alot of different combinations. Choice of still or sparkling which is nice ...would definitely go back.
Claire
Amazing food , lovely setting , the service we got from the outside end compared to the inside is like two different restaurants .in regards to service .The waitress outside was rude and blunt and even offered an eye roll whilst talking to us , and when we went at the front end where we had to sit down the service was so friendly, and top notch , it was more like the sun is out, birds are chirping, how is your life ? Kind of friendly vibe and the food was amazing so I give it a 4.5 . I'm very fussy about my coffee but it was delicious , no complains.if we didn't stay and left by the service we received outside I would have given it a 2.

Average breakfast/brunch food, and friendly service. Although highly disappointed by the food itself despite great reviews. First dish includes; Bacon, Sausage, mushroom, poached egg etc according to the menu (swapped egg and mushrooms out for chorizo and avocado). Except that the restaurant had forgotten to add the bacon that we paid for onto the dish, and we had unfortunately not noticed this until after payment. Second dish had a disproportionate serving of poached egg, to go with what exactly? The rest of the dish included a Small slice of ciabatta, a slither of salsa and two small slices of average, salt flavoured chorizo which left an overwhelming amount of flavourless egg that made the meal difficult to enjoy. I felt that the dish had potential and the sides were meant to bring flavour into the dish, but the poor proportioning and flavours made the entire ordeal difficult to finish.

Been here a couple of times but can't really remembered what I have ordered but the pork
Benedict did give me a good impression of the food and the quality. Service efficiency is good .

Would come back for more to try other food :)

The last day. After a lazy breakfast in bed of fruit and nutella and freshly squeezed orange juice, A and I sped towards Sunday mass. We ate quiches in the sun watching children enjoy themselves getting almost wet by the fountains at Britomart. We ran into A who was in town with his young family. Spent the rest of the day at the Auckland Domain, at the ocean life expo in the Museum and the gardens. Wished there were more photos and more jellyfish, which scare and fascinate me. Finished packing everything and was scared the bags were too heavy... I hate having too much stuff. The Store5b Gore StreetAuckland Central

The Store is a great cafe/restaurant with a chilled vibe, great service and delicious food. The menu might be a little hard to decipher if ur a regular folk like me, but so far everything I've tried is amazing from the kitchen food to the cabinet selection.

It's been awhile since I last visited this cafe/restaurant, so I was very happy that the standards are still as high as ever. As I mentioned, the food items are a quite a bit fancy, so I won't bother trying to remember what their called. Just go there and point - that's what I do. :)

What I ate today: a bun with some slices of ham, vege and salad. Oh and it came with crisps too. Don't take my word for it - go n try it for urself.

(Also, very fast service for a place with such high customer traffic).

Had a disappointing" vegetarian" filled roll here today. They seem to think vegetarian is a few bits of lettuce, cucumber a bit of humuus and overpowering vinagrette.
Carlene O'Meagher
Meal was delicious and reasonably priced, $20 for the smoked fish on buckwheat galette and I was hungry. Service was prompt and very friendly. Had a table in the sun, I just wish I'd known they had sunhats for customers to use. Recommend.

Good coffee, beautiful food (particularly the salt beef burger) and funky design here at The Store but what impressed me the most was the amazing service! Every staff member we encountered was super lovely and attentive without being over the top. Thanks for the great brekky.

Love the outdoor seating vibe which still keeps you relatively warm during winter with their surrounding heaters.

Service is friendly and their coffee is made well. We had brunch here and food was of good standard (not surprising). I tried their gallette because it sounded different. However I thought the veggies were a bit too raw for me but it is definitely a lighter and healthier option. The normal sounding breakfast items looked pretty good! but my favourite of all would definitely be their donuts! So definitely take a wander to their takeaway store for some fresh baking.

Very nice, it had great service from staff that wanted to help have a good experience. We had the breakfasts which were great and had all the flavors you would expect. The highlight was the beetroot hot chocolate that was smooth and creamy and we persuaded ourselves was probably very healthy...

cool place. weird architecture, not sure how they got it through Planning.
however, didn't come here for the architecture, it was for breakfast. went for the scrambled egg with house made chorizo. the eggs were very nice but the chorizo wasnt for me, there was some flavour in there that was a little over powering, couldn't quite identify it. the dish was nice but wouldnt go for it again. the broccoli with poached eggs sounded delish. the coffee was ok.
all in all, cool place but could do better. I would recommend to a friend.

Wow it's our first time here we had breakfast today,I had the market fish which was perfect just the right balance of ingredients and my partner had the truffle omelette which was also good, friendly staff great service, just minutes from gym so great spot to get a quick bite 😀
Mindy Song
Been here for breakfast twice and both times have been spectacular! The food is great, the chorizo and scrambled eggs is fantastic. The only downside is there is not much inside seating so it can get quite cold. They mainly have small round tables so it's a bit awkward with large groups

Spent only $4.00 for a tasty flat white. Milk foam was very smoothly. It made my Sunday afternoon more warm and joyful. Staff was very friendly.

We decided to make the trek into the city to treat Dad for Father's Day - parking non existent so had to pay for Britomart parking which all adds to the expense & hassle of eating in the city, even on the weekend.
A lovely setting but our service was slow to start. The menu is compact & there was little on offer for children. Another table with kids left after only having drinks. Coffees were very good but our breakfast choices were just okay for the price. Had the homemade chorizo & scrambled eggs & eggs bene.
Didn't think it was all worth the effort as there are so many excellent suburban cafes such as Geeks on Sainsbury that do better & you don't have to pay extra to park.
Perhaps their lunches/dinners are better but we won't be rushing back.

Delicious food and wonderful service! My friend and I had such a lovely time here because all the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was just amazing.

There's a reason why this place is always packed and its cause of their fantastic food and service! Highly recommend the market fish and chicken salad! I love the picked veges with the fish and their chicken salad was well dressed and full of flavour! Everything is also reasonable priced for the quality of food and service you recieve. I will definitely be back here again!

Stopped by at lunchtime for a baguette, and picked out a chicken, parsley mayo, and cos baguette. Was thankful by the time I finished eating it that I had been eating alone - what a mission to eat. Baguette was so hard, and so crunchy, and so difficult to bite into, I had to practically tear at it with my teeth like a rabid dog just to get a bite. The chicken parsley mayo was bland and tasteless - couldn't taste the parsley, no tang to the mayo. It was unceremoniously dumped into a large paper bag to take away, so by the time I got back to work, it was half all over the place. I don't know why this city finds it so hard to do a simple baguette.

It was a disappointing lunchtime experience, and I doubt I'll be back.
Lisa Kim
The pasta and salad were good and the atmosphere outdoor was better than the food. I visited here during the week because it is so crowded on weekend.
MrJan
Speedy service, yummy food. Good location.
Eggs benedict with house smoked fish - winner winner.
House made lemon. Ginger and honey was good as well. Would come back for more food.

Food at this place is average. The only thing really enjoyable is the experience of a brunch in the outdoor setting. But that can be a downer too - if it's not sunny, or even if it's way too sunny on a hot day.
Staff's good, but can be rushy when people start swarming in (can't blame them for that).
It's a good experience having a brunch here but for what you get you end up paying more than you should. Still, I can't call it bad.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I came to eat here on a rather cool day, and on a whim. I am so glad I chose to enjoy my brunch here! In the heart of Britomart, you get to enjoy the cool atmosphere of the city life, while relaxing on its street. I ordered the pancakes with a pear drizzle, and a homemade soda. Both were extremely tasty and made to perfection. Also a must to try their large-cut fries!

I love this place and often come here for breakfast in the weekends, their egg benedict is my favourite 😊 This time I came for lunch with a friend during weekday. Although the place is packed, we got seated right away. I ordered the organic chicken salad (without anchovy) and an avocado smoothie while my friend got the braised lamb with tagliatelle pasta. The salad for me was very fulfilling despite the average taste and the fact that their crunchy bread chunks were too hard and burnt to eat. The smoothie on the other hand is superb, very very nice indeed. My friend also loves her lamb dish. What made me happy was the service that day, top-notch! The staff was really attentive, especially the manager (a Korean lady) who was super friendly and helpful. I can honestly say one of the best customer service I've experienced among Auckland restaurants. The price range is 20ish for a main dish which is reasonable. Highly recommend this place đŸ‘đŸŒ
Marley
Interesting breakfast and drink options- many dishes are very different to what the menu says. However everything was fresh and tasty, although the staff did not seem to be communicating with each other to put orders through.
Vikas Yadav
Loved this place for my perfect Sunday morning coffee. Very friendly staff and prompt service. We ordered at the take-away side but shortly after placing the order realised that we would rather prefer sitting down comfortably and enjoying that lovely cup of coffee. The lady was pleasant enough to guide us through to the dining area and also transfer our order to the other side.

I have visited this place a few years ago for a business brunch but never paid attention to the service that much. I think everything was so prompt that there was nothing to complaint. However today when I have time I would like to compliment both occasions. Prompt as it was earlier.

Will be coming back next week and trying out the brunch menu again. đŸ˜€đŸ˜€đŸ‘đŸœđŸ‘đŸœ

I have to admit, in the past the very breakfast/brunch focused menu at The Store hasn’t been able to entice me – but as today that was exactly what we were looking for, it ticked the box. Nestled in between Sass & Bide and Lululemon, this is a yummy mummy haunt and a good choice for a Britomart refuel. Owned by the Hip Group, the same proprietors as Metro Top 50 joint Ortolana that sits barely 50 metres away, you might notice similarities in the stablemates’ ethos and menus – The Store is just slightly more ‘café’ like. Both use the same organic/’from our own farm’ produce, both focus on hipster-rustic dishes and both have a gnocchi dish on the menu – having just tried Ortolana’s version a few days back, I figured I may as well see how the sibling’s version stacked up.

Little pricey for what it is but nice food all the same, good place for a lunch on a break or in the weekend. Friendly staff, they do a good iced mocha!!
Paris
Quality fine gourmet food! Been here a few times came for breakfast after the market and have been for lunch also! The market fish is always fresh as fresh can get! And breakfast a must also with great sausages and scrambles oh and great chips and omletes be sure to also check out their sister restaurant Ortolana just across (also do dinner) and the most amazing high quality made daily dessert bar Milse!! Especially their bombed Alaska gelato stick!

Went for lunch on Saturday. The place is beautiful with mostly outdoor seating. I tried the chicken salad and the garden harvest juice. The salad was just superb and so was the juice with decent portioning. The service was pretty much up there. Its great food for the price. Will highly recommend and come back again to try more.

Fantastic birthday breakfast this morning with friends. I has the Eggs Benedict with black pudding which was cooked to perfection. We ordered a side of Agri chips which were to die for. Friends ordered home made chorizo and scrambled eggs, a good sign is when the eggs are fluffy and yellow, again perfection on a plate. Ambience and service was as expected but not exceptional. Highly recommend for a lovely Brunch
Micko
Most amazing breakfast menu. I had the gnocchi with burnt tomatoes, poached egg, walnuts, pancetta and baby herbs. So pretty on the plate and sublime on the tastebuds!
Misty
Great cafe in Britomart to catch up with friends for coffee, brunch or lunch. Such a good central location and love the outdoor seating in the sun on a nice day. The Hip group never disappoints with their food. It gets so busy though so get in quick!
Fiona M
The coffee at the store is probably the best I've had in Auckland. It's always really creamy and never bitter. The croque monsuier is my favourite takeaway breakfast and you can't beat their donuts.... The jam is an old fave ofcourse but looking forward to having a salted caramel one in the future. Having this place so close to work is dangerous! We dined in the other day and it was blissful sitting in the sun eating a beautiful and healthy breakfast of bircher muesli and washing it down with an icy cold prosecco. Divine! Do yourself a favour and get down to the store.
Gianina Castro
Booking is a must! There's a 15 min wait on tables as it is usually quite packed. So if you don't like waiting around, book a table in advance.

Staff were very friendly! And the food was delicious! Would definitely go back to try the other dishes they have.
Annie Ren
The store is such a popular space for lunches during weekdays. It's beautiful and has a number of express lunch options, including sandwiches, salads and lovely desserts! I had a tomato salad with crispy bread crumbd. However, I found the taste a little bit monotone and would've loved some variations, perhaps add in the creaminess of cheese?

I akso had a pecan tart for dessert! It was tasty, had a great crusty pastry base and rich in nut flavour. However, for a rather small dessert, it was $6 and I found it a tad bit expensive.
Georgia Forde
Had the most outstanding brunch here today, the drinks and food were sensational. I had the scrambled eggs with avocado and spring greens and it was all perfection. The service was amazing, special mention to our waiter Will! We will definitely all be back as everything on the menu looks so delicious. I also love the fact that all the food is locally sourced!!
Razelle Icaro
Went here for lunch after my last exam for the year and it definitely made my day. Been craving eggs benedict all week so it didn't take me that long to choose my order. It's different to the other eggs bene dishes I've had, and it's the good kind of different. The pancakes had ricotta and mascarpone. At first I wasn't quite sure about it because it looked unusual. I would say it's unique though. They manage to add a twist to their dishes to make it different and I would say it's working great for them. Staff were super friendly too!
James
Great coffee and breakfast options. Brushed here twice now and each time the food has been really good. I have gone for eggs and toast meals each time and it has been really good. Would recommend.
G
Great location, vibe and atmosphere. Food was delicious - had the agria gnocchi, spring greens, almonds, citrus butter with a poached egg. It was a little expensive but that was to be expected, given the location. Still, the food was good enough for me to want to come again to try other stuff :)
EpiCurious
You just have to try the eggs benedict with smoked kahawhai from this place. Beautifully cooked, and it's great to have a twist on and favourite. Excellent service, and the home made sodas and coffee are also excellent.
Claudia Serra
Custard cream donuts 10/10, coffee has been great the few times I've had it here. The takeaway side prices are really cheap and the courtyard is nice to sit down for a meal in the sun :) this is a good local for me.
Emily Devine
Super friendly service. Delicious Menu incorporates fresh and seasonal produce. The ambience of the environment is on point, offering straw hats for sunny days or blankets for the cold. Highly recommend the halumi Beetroot walnut salad for lunch.
Rebecca MacDonald
I had some time to kill in town this morning so popped into The store for brekkie. I have eaten here several times before and it is always great, the takeaway side also has some fab sweet and savoury bits to grab on the run. I particularly love their doughnuts! Anyway I digress, today I had a flatwhite and the chorizo and Agra baked eggs and it was delicious!
S.
Try their salted beef sandnicewich, absolutely love it!! The beef is perfect with the pickles and the bread is delicious as well! Although it's a busy cafe, but it maintain high standard service as well. It is a good place for a cozy brunch!
Caitlin Johnstone
My friend and I tried to find this café. We typed in 5B Gore Street into Maps, thinking we were going to be lead to amazing food. Instead we were lead to street with a whole bunch of escort places and strip clubs? I'm not sure if the address on Zomato was a glitch or if we did something wrong? I know where it is now (thank God) but that was just a little confusing.
Vic
Sat outside under the sun surrounded myself with lavender flowers haha. Waitress was nice. Atmosphere was relaxing. My mocha was alright. Eggs Benedict with smoked market fish was amazing though. I was happy. Waiters' white dress and apron uniform were refreshing as well compare to everyone using denim aprons. Thumbs up!
Naomi
I only had long black after lunch at other place.
Staff were very friendly, customers looked enjoyed meal under the sun.
I really wanna come again to have something else.
Gemma
My mum and I came here a while ago for lunch, so their menu may have changed. I had a kale, brussel sprout and poached egg dish. It was light, fresh, and tasty! My Mum had a potato gratin with a poached egg and black pudding. From what she told me, she enjoyed it, but she's never been a fan of black pudding. Overall it was a light, enjoyable meal. The setting was nice outside, and the service seemed similar to Ortolana. You were given a different glass if you didn't want sparkling water. Tasty food and reasonable pricing too! I must come here again!
Auckland Foodie
Hidden in the courtyard is this gem in Britomart. Best frequented on a nice day given that the majority of seating is outside. Come early or book ahead since this place is popular! I especially love their brunch offerings and the recent addition of kombucha is on trend. I mourned the loss of their gelateria, but am comforted that Milse is a courtyard away.
Matthew Smiley Armstrong
Went in there for breakfast after the rugby this morning.

Service was fantastic. Because of my tricky diet they made me a special mushroom burger - was the best breakfast I've had in a long time! Thank you so much!
James
Got a donut from the store today.

It was a chocolate donut.

Had a nice surprise chocolate mousse filling in it .

It was very delicious

Had it with a coffee .
Ryan
Had a not so great coffee here, tasted quite weak, I didn't even finish it. Maybe it was an off day, cabinet items look good. Will come back and give it another shot.

Layout of the store is a little confusing if you've never been before.

I come here every Saturday and every time is a delight. Favorites include the coffee, sodas, citrus juice, and pan au chocolate. The staff are THE loveliest in Britomart. The only thing which is annoying is the surcharge when sitting down to eat food from the takeaway side- but understandable because everyone would want to sit! So I give it a 5 nevertheless đŸ‘ŒđŸœ
Scott Kennedy
Great spot for a Saturday morning coffee ☕☕ also enjoyed the complementary sparkling water đŸ‘ŒđŸŒOnly downside was a tiny long black, could have had 5 of them.
Isi
Nice little place to sit back, relax and people watch. Surprising menu and choices to come from such a small place and equally as good. Well worth a visit
Michelle
Heard a lot about this cafe and finally made a visit after months planning. Tried the ribbon pasta and thought it was not gonna be good as there are lots of green colour on top but it was wrong! The pasta was really nice! And the fries are the best fries I've eaten so far in town as the best fries are always the one with the skin left unpeeled. The service was great and it is definitely worth coming back.
Lena Guo
Great service as per usual. I ordered a Urlar Sav and beef brisket for lunch. The brisket was very tender and flavoursome. However there were a little bit too much onion so for my likings but the layout looked great. My partner ordered the eggs Benedict, they went the extra mile and swapped the muffin split for ciabatta for him.
Jessica Teasdale
Noting was that stand out on the menu. The homemade sodas were pretty gross. For what it actually is I think it's pretty over priced and not that tasty. I love the outdoor area though, they really nailed the layout.

Probably wouldn't return! There are way better options in the britomart area
Lara Custance
Beautiful location and one of many great al fresco spots in Britomart. The Store has wonderful attention to detail in both flavour and presentation - from the sparkling water regularly refilled, to the composition of the dishes, each dish is well thought out and this extends to its excellent quick serve counter food. Down to each sandwich and salad, each perfectly designed to delight.
Jing Min Liu
The Store has always been somewhere I've wanted to try but never had the time! So pleased when I finally got to try it. Arriving at about 2pm, they were still quite full with all the outside tables taken on a nice sunny afternoon. We were greeted instantly and were told it was not long until a table was free and were welcome to sit at the bar table until a table was ready. We only waited maybe a minute or two so it wasn't too bad!
Waitress was very nice and friendly and checked on us regularly. Wasn't a long wait time for the food despite them being very busy which was a good surprise! Food was delicious and filling! Quite worth the money and definitely will be back to try more items!
Lovefood
Came in for lunch on a Thursday and it was real busy. The food didnt come quick to the table , had a good 15mins wait but it was all good as I wasnt in a rush and they were real busy. The pasta was very nice. Cooked well and flavours were very good. The fish burger was amazing. The fish pattie was fresh and very well flavoured. excellent staff and a very laid bak location.
Miss Persistant
Just got something to takeaway, layout doesn't make sense as you go through pay in the middle, I was a first timer so maybe I was confused so its also small and pokey so not sure where to stand or line up. However staff were friendly and was served quickly. Sandwich looked good but it didn't taste like anything but fresh. The donut was nice and fresh. Will go back when it's less busy so I can have a good look at all the yummy delights o. Hand.
Foodarella
10/10 service and food. The staff were friendly, attentive and polite. Food came out very quickly and was sensational - well cook, seasoned and presented. Toulouse sausages are to die for. Great coffee too!

Last Saturday, we visited "the store", there were already full. Their staff service was SO nice, service water was carbonated water. And kindly they prepared some blankets each table. We ate a hot cake, it was great. The ingredients were fresh and decoration were pretty good! Especially, cheese on the top of cake was smooth and delicous. I was satisfied with them. Thank you for your time.

We had afternoon tea here at The Store last weekendI ordered a lemon meringue tart and a Lemon, honey&ginger hot drink~My friend had a caramel donut and a small mocha~very delicious and visually beautiful
Victoria
Interior is very sweet and menu looks delish. We only grabbed coffee's which weren't very good unfortunately.. we didn't even finish them. Headed over to Ortolana instead. Maybe a bad day, we'll try again soon.

The Store is one third of The Hip Group's Britomart presence and is a regular, oh dear I haven't had breakfast stop for yours truly.

While my pick is generally a Breakfast Bap ($5.50 from memory) and a coffee, they also sell incredible sweet treats (the choux donuts are insane - filled with custard and fruit *insert heart eye emoji here*), filled rolls, or if you have a bit of time, you can pick from the sit down menu too.

Like most Hip Group eateries, the decor is attractive and the staff are generally pretty friendly.

What surprises me most is that it's not that pricy to visit - e.g. in the CBD you can often expect to play at least $8 for a breakfast bap with bacon and egg, at The Store you can get that and a coffee for under $10. And if you're looking for a tiny snack of both the savoury and sweet variety, you're well covered at a good price.

#challenge

Love their breakfast offerings here, and lunch too. Last time I had the muesli and coffee for takeaway. The muesli had the right amount of crunch and fruits and yogurt. Their coffees are good as well.

Last weekend I decided to visit The Store after hearing so many fabulous reviews. The Store is a chic diner located in Britomart and is run by the Hip Group.

As we entered, we were greeted by a lovely young gentleman who offered us a table inside. The Store was warm and cosy and it was nice to be able to escape the winter chill. They have an in-house artisan bakery around the back so the café is filled with incredible fresh aromas. We had a hard time deciding what to order from the seasonal menu because there were so many delicious options and it was quite different to the usual brunch dishes that we order.

I decided to have a healthy green smoothie to kick-start my day. The smoothie was packed full of kale, kiwifruit, spirulina and almond milk ($7). It had quite a strong spirulina taste but it was still really tasty. My friend ordered a mochaccino ($5) which was sweet and creamy.

After browsing through the menu several times I decided to order the autumn greens, organic rye and herb salad with a poached egg, ($18), a side of smoked fish ($6) and a side of gluten free toast. The dish was really tasty and was filled with salad greens, broccoli, brussel sprouts and kale. My friend ordered the spiced baked beans, sourdough, poached eggs, crĂšme fraiche and parmesan ($18) and a side of three extra poached eggs. The baked beans were full of flavour with a nice spicy kick to them and the eggs were perfectly poached with soft whites and runny yolks.

We really enjoyed our morning at The Store – the service was impeccable, the food was incredible and it had a relaxing atmosphere.

nourishedbitesbyjess.wordpress.com

Nice place with a very fresh and seasonal menu choices. During the winter I love their hot apple drink and during the summer their gelato smoothies are what is needed. The place is situated in a nice area in britomart with always a bustling crowd of people to join. I had a porcini gnocchi which was a really nice winter meal. The eggs Benedict was simple but a good brunch staple.

I was feeling like having a fancy breakfast with my sister before work.
The Store has an urban atmosphere with outgoing service.
I ordered their equivalent of a big breakfast; bacon, sausages, mushrooms, potatoes and eggs. My eggs were poached the way I like them, soft whites with runny yolks. And everything else on my plate was cooked well. My sister enjoyed her beer battered fish and chips, they were crispy but still moist.
I would come here again as the experience was great but they're overpriced.
Melissa Chai
A bit on the pricey side but the food portion was well thought out, my fish was crispy and not burnt which was good! I enjoyed my time there however the dessert menu was a little odd.
Shirley Yu
Nice brunch with my friends. I have expected to go to The store for a long time. In fact it is great. I grabbed gnocchi and two of my friends had a pasta and a egg Benedict. It tasted fantastic. The service is excellent and the environment is pleasant. Hope to have another try someday!

This place is smack bang right in the heart of downtown Britomart. I love this place for its fresh salads, soups, fresh juices and baked goods - presentation is just superb! The Store also own Milse dessert cafe, so dont be surprised to see their desserts in their shop. Dont forget there is a takeaway bar around the back of the store, which you will struggle to pick just one treat to leave with. This place is upbeat and classy - all with a relaxed feel to it. Must go! Plus all you Lululemon/Sass&Bide fans be sure to pop in as this is located right next to The Store - treat yourself to lunch and a purchase or two right?
Raquel Munn
Great coffee and cakes. Good atmosphere in the heart of Britomart. You can see the chefs prepare the food. After some good shopping at Lululemon, this was a great stop.
Cindy Ong
No indoor seating in this cafe. The tables were always fully occupied. We tried their fish and chips and pull pork burger but no surprise. Overall it was a nice place for gathering but not for good food.
Miss Kiki
I came here for breakfast 2 weeks ago. My friend had the Granola which she enjoyed and I had the gnocchi. I really enjoyed the gnocchi, it was well cooked. I liked that it was cut small. The sauce was nice, but not seasoned well enough for my liking.
Service was not the best, not sure what is up with this whole sparkling water thing. Maybe I am not cultured enough :p I would have preferred to have been asked if I wanted sparkling.
All in all a good experience and I would come here again.
The main reason I go to the Store in Britomart is their liquorice ice cream. Usual Hip Group formula with nice free water and good if not spectacular coffee. As with all Hip Group venues the staff are attentive and well trained.

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend.

The smoothies were really good! I got the banana one.

The place had a really chill vibe and they had blankets around which I used because I was sitting outside and auckland being auckland it got windy.

There's gelato inside right next to the counter when you're paying so be prepared to through your diet off

We went to The Store on Mothers Day for brunch as we'd seen this restaurant but never had an opportunity to dine in.

Friendly and polite staff greeted my wife and me and because the place was busy we had to leave our contact details so that we could be informed when a table became available. (This was fine as we thought we’d grab some coffees from the takeaway side of this restaurant).

When we were shown to our table after about 20 minutes we studied the menu and ended up choosing the dish with the Bacon, Toulouse sausages, Portobello mushrooms which I guess is the big breakfast and my wife selected the pulled beef burger.

The food was ‘all right’ - we weren’t overly impressed. There was very little of the big breakfast, which left me unsatisfied, and my wife, well she did not quite enjoy her meal. The beef was rather bland and really did not leave either of us wanting more.

Our bill came to $46 which is probably a reasonably fair price for the privilege of dining in the Britomart area but we felt that for what we consumed (or rather what I consumed and what little my wife ate....about two thirds of her burger was left), the food wasn’t really up to mark or our expectations.

I don’t think we’d write this place off as we’d like to come back and try their takeaway menu and maybe some other dishes on their dine-in menu just to ensure that we hadn’t caught the chef on an off day.

Rating out of 5 (5 being the highest):
Food – 2
Ambience – 4
Presentation – 3
Service – 5
Environment – 4

I am reviewing the takeaway side of the The Store (not much of a fan of the dine in part after my order was mixed up). The big sandwiches (can't remember their name- behamel I think???) served in the mornings for a mere $7 are yum! They go so well with a nice cup of mocha on the go. Prices are good, and food is good. One must try their sweet treats - I have tried a few of these, one of my favorites being one that contains beetroot (cannot remember the exact name of the little cupcake). Most staff are friendly and service is fast.

The experience I had at The Store was exactly how I wanted to spend an afternoon catching up with old friends. The lovely staff were friendly, attentive and very patient as we were an indecisive bunch, as well as tardy, waiting for our later lunch companions to arrive.

The whole menu sounded delicious and everyone had a hard time choosing. Upon arrival, our good-looking food was photographed, and from the sudden food silence that swept over our previously noisy table- it all tasted as good as it sounded and looked.

The ingredients were fresh, wholesome and just delicious. My big breakfast had all the components- sausages, crispy bacon, perfectly poached eggs- but a lovely twist to the carb component, which is normally toast or hash browns, was a slice of potato galette. Portions were generous, coffee was good and our water was always topped up.

Thank you to The Store and the staff for a great afternoon- we were there for hours and never felt rushed. Instead we were just well fed and had a marvellous time. I'm coming back to eat the rest of the menu!

The Store is my go-to place for early morning coffee and pastry runs pre-work in the weekends. Conveniently open at 7am, the staff are always "bright eyed and bushy tailed" ready to take your order. They are happy to make suggestions on their personal faves from the wide selection of pastries on offer. One side of The Store is a take-away end and the other has seated dining with food made-to-order. The location makes it great for central city workers. Do pay The Store a visit if you're in the Britomart precinct.

The Store offers a wide range of classic and humble food with a refreshing take on it. For example, I went with my mother one day and she ordered some simple pancakes but they were tangy and sweet with a fresh mascarpone dollop (these are called the ricotta hotcakes with burnt orange syrup and mascarpone Incase you wanted to know) absolutely decadent. I ordered my all time favourite brunch meal: Eggs Benedict. With a smooth hollandaise and perfectly poached eggs on top of a toasted English muffin i was very impressed. The Store is perfect after a long day of shopping in Britomart.
J
I was lucky enough to receive a table, I arrived at 11:30 which was a perfect time before the rush of people came in for lunch.

The menu is definitely unique in its own way but it still has the classics like Eggs Benedict etc. I ordered the iced mocha and the autumn greens salad, normally I'm quite picky with food but this dish, there was nothing I could fault. Everything just went together so well and it is definitely something I have not eaten before so it was quite good experiencing new flavours.

Would definitely come here again as it has a good atmosphere to catch up with friends, and of course the food will not disappoint. Highly recommend, and will definitely be visiting again sometime soon.

It pays to come a bit earlier if you want to eat lunch here since the tables disappear quickly! You can either order of the menu, and some of the dishes we saw going past looked amazing (coming back for sure) or from the cabinet selection on the other side of the building (small walk required). I ordered vegie pie, which unfortunately had to wait a bit longer than I would've liked, and it arrived cold so had to wait again. My suggestion = order a la carte... Super tasty food in a great central location!

A group of us were wandering around britomart looking for a place to eat before our concert and happened upon The Store. Even though they were very busy from all the concert goers we were seated straight away. The service was fantastic, and the staff were lovely. Even with all the people that were eating, we had our food within 10min of ordering. I had the ribbon pasta and it was devine, such amazing flavours that all worked together and the peach and time soda was surprisingly tasty.

My boyfriend took me to this cafe which is one of his favourites. I have enjoyed the egg benedict with smoked market fish and also the agria gnocchi. The flavour of the food taste delicious which totally worth the price. Their coffee are also great and high quality. The waiting time is average even when it's busy and the customer services are great too. I would definitely recommend this cafe and visit it again.
Eden Wood
Very cute set-up but we had to wait 15 mins to get a table. The water was sparkling and there was no option to have still. I ordered the hot cakes which were excellently presented and tasted good but they weren't the best hot cakes I've had. Good service and friendly staff. Overall a good place to go for a weekend brunch.

The Store is an eatery of two halves. At one end a chic diner serving casual meals and drinks with attentive table service.

Other a neighbourhood store selling an ever-changing menu of house-made ‘gourmet convenience’ food and superb coffee to take away.

Overall, a great little cafe to grab a quick bite from or relax in, definitely recommend their sandwiches and baguettes in particular.

Will definitely go back again and try more of there tempting dishes.

Delicious food, and drinks! Love the doughnuts with raspberry jam when I'm in the mood for something sweet and they're constantly my go-to for catering when I need to organise something for work.

One of my favourites is the daily salad and watermelon and coconut juice :)

The Store is part of the Hip Group which is at a level of it's own. I usually only have takeaway from the bakery as the cafe is too packed during lunch time. Some of the items are a little dear for the size you get, but I would recommend trying the chicken sandwich (made with the 5 grain bread baked in store), the gourmet pies and the sausage rolls. The coffee is pretty decent too.

Saturday's at The Store isn't a bad option. With their very own in-house artisan bakery round the back, it's hard to resist the fresh aromas. For lunch I devoured the agria gnocchi; $18. They were heavenly Italian balls of goodness, with a perfectly soft texture and well flavoured by the citrus butter while the complimentary spring greens refrained the meal becoming too heavy. I wasn't feeling the vego vibes so opted for a side of bacon; $5, which was generously portioned and tasty. The nectarine, macadamia, vanilla smoothie was a risky decision and unfortunately didn't pay off, tasting frankly strange (macadamias probably don't belong in liquid form), though I've enjoyed other drinks here. If you're an eggs benedict fan, I'd recommend the one from here. The predominantly outside location at the Britomart Pavilions works wonders on sunny days but can feel a tad dreary when the clouds decide to cry.

We first ate here at The Store, last year for lunch. I had fish on couscous and it was delicious! The fish was cooked nicely and moist. The veggies were fresh and crunchy, which I really liked! The coffee was great too,I had a cup of mocha. The place seemed a bit busy though but I guess lots of people want to eat at The Store. The staff was very helpful and friendly even though there were heaps of customers ordering.

We liked our lunch at The Store. Good food, great coffee and nice place. It's great for brunching out with friends and buddies. Best place to sit would be outside too.

Coming here for a luxury styled brunch with friends, I found the service was great, lovely friendly staff that were extremely attentive and friendly, had great knowledge and personal experience with the food and gave good recommendations that we all loved. The food itself was tasteful enough but was made maybe to say a bit too luxurious and the mushroom & cheese dish I ordered was delicious however the cheese grossly overshadowed everything else on the plate and was quite a pain to choose, also their ice tea was a tad watery and bland. Overall a delightful scenery with great service and yum food

I've been wanting to try this place ever since I moved to Auckland and hearing great things about it both online and from friends. I finally had the chance to this weekend, and headed down for breakfast/brunch with the boyfriend. We were lucky to get the last available table before the next lot of people got put onto the waiting list. Unfortunately, it was quite a cold morning and the table was on the edge of their outdoor area, so it was quite chilly with the wind. They did provide some cozy blankets though, which was the perfect remedy for that. Their outdoor area would be beautiful in the summer time.

I ordered a latte, and for food we got the ricotta pancakes and winter greens & barley. Both dishes looks and tasted amazing; the pancakes were so incredibly fluffy and went so well with the rhubarb & pears. The winter green salad had some good flavours going on, and was a good size I think. I definitely liked the pancakes best, but if you're not feeling the sweets, the winter greens would be perfect! Our wait staff were all super bubbly and friendly; made for a great experience.

Service was good. We ordered a tender braised beef, and a lamb pasta dish with olive. Both dishes were blend and salty. Coffee was ok, nothing unexpected.

I' come for brunch frequently and have had good food and service most of the time.

Love their ice cream and usually get the eggs Benedict with bacon.

They used to have this amazing thick bacon but now it's just the same as anywhere else (if you are reading this please bring this back!).

Only issue was once my poached egg was not cooked properly (as in the egg White was still raw). When I told the waitress she seemed uninterested.

Overall good place to eat, especially on a sunny day.

I'm a big fan and I don't get it why the store got such a low star in here, normally they are always very busy! very great quality cafe food, best yummy icecream (coconut, lemoncurd yogurt) and their pastry are mostly good, CRONUTS! and my routine is to have their Vege sandwich every sunday morning, They used to do mushroom sandwich for vegetarian option but now even better with the vege sandwich, I am surprised how a normal vege sandwich will make me so addictive, and its sooooo good. Their 5grains bread is very very good as well! I love everything about the store and will keep going back!

Well, I went down here today with my partner and had the fish and chip butty (one piece of bread and no butter?) and the potato boulangere- dripping in oil, it was pretty average considering the price and what prompted me to write this review was the appalling way after our plates were cleared, I was finishing my hot chocolate and the waitress dumped the bill in front of us and said 'when you ready' . Now , they were not closing or anything (I asked this) but this made us feel like they wanted us to go, and like we were not welcome. This is unacceptable in a cafe I think, I have always asked for the bill in cafes and restaurants, I've never had one shoved on my table without even asking for it?! And I also have worked in the industry for many years - this was very inhospitable and I remarked on this as I paid the bill. The staff all stared and one guy just said 'sorry' which at least was something. I don't think I'd go back there as I personally don't go to cafes which make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by eating there!

I am a huge foodie, and always reluctant to make bad reviews because I want businesses to do well! But Unfortunately I have to this time, particularly for fellow coeliac’s. I ordered a soup, which they confirmed was gluten free (even gave me gf bread to go with it) – however it had Farro grains in it – from the wheat (gluten) family. When I questioned this with the waitress– she said the chef thought it was gluten free, I then asked for the packet, which was in Spanish, (No English ingredient list) . Hence why the chef thought it was gluten free. It worries me that such a prestigious cafĂ© like “The Store” can’t get it right, I always put my trust in cafes/restaurants such as this, as you would think they would be at the top of their game. However, not in this case. Be warned if your ordering gluten free from this cafĂ©, ask ask ask again.

Paid $9.50 for a sandwich on the café side, looked on the website and the takeaway charge is $6. Won't be going back there.

I always visit this place and buy at least a piece of brioche after my gym workout at les mills. They're that great. Coffee you can't beat this place and ortolana(they're the same owner), and patisseries are really good. My favourite cafe and restaurants were here, Ortolana and the beach cafe in Taka before the two opened up, but no wonder, found out they were all the same owner's! Try coconut gelato ice-cream. They're really good.

After unsuccessfully trying to go to The Shelf for brunch on Sunday I ended up at The Store. It was fairly busy but the wait was only 10 minutes which gave me time to peruse the nearby stores which is always fun. This was my first time at The Store but definitely not the last.

Our waiter was friendly and very helpful, especially when we couldn't chose what to order off their amazing menu. We ended up ordering the Slab bacon, pork & garlic sausages, portobello mushrooms, potato galette, poached eggs and the Smoked pork sandwich; sauerkraut, emmental, campagne, agria crisps. The make their own slab bacon and holy crap it is AMAZING. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best bacon I have ever had, and I have eaten more than my fair share of bacon. You can buy it from them at $32 p/kg, I wish I was rich... They also make their own sausages which were also delicious. Everything was wonderful. The smoked pork sandwich was very large and very tasty. I don't think I could have finished it alone. The agria chips were delightfully light and crunchy.

We were happy and full and didn't think we could possibly eat another bite, when we were offered a free taste of their gelato while we waited to pay... we both ended up buying a scoop, salted caramel and chocolate espresso.

I'm coming back for you Portobello mushrooms, provolone, porcini butter with campagne, you sounded delicious.

Dining options are endless when it comes to Britomart. This Auckland CBD hub has long been the center of attention and the place to be for high fashion and exceptional food, dethroning the then popular High Street.

Stopping by The Store for a bite to eat after an eventful day at the Auckland Art Galley, I went for a healthy afternoon tea. A generous serving of thick creamy yoghurt with walnuts, baked figs which has lightly caramelised and a wedge of honeycomb. The combination of the different consistency and flavours were splendid and it was just the right portion. Figs are in season and the people from The Store grow their own in their farm, ensuring the best quality to be served.

I am curious to see if the other items on the menu are just as good. I will be back!

Like this review? Please check out my blog at http://mydiningjourney.wordpress.com

The Store does amazing food in an amazing area. I really like the atmosphere of the Britomart eateries in general, and The Store is no exception. A stylish cafe with good food and no fuss, you can opt to go to the side for takeout or eat in. They were completely full up in the cafe that day, although I could see the atmosphere was super friendly and cool, so I decided to go for some takeaway goodies.

Presented in a huge white box with its logo on the side, it looked just as good inside. I got some banana breads, vine tomato and rocket tarts (which more like quiches than tarts), free range chicken salad baguettes, vegetarian cucumber baguettes, and a ham and cheese sandwich.

Their breads are really good, I think. I'm usually not one to enjoy wholegrain, but the wholegrain bread went really well with the ham and cheese in the sandwich, it added this sort of aromatic nutty flavour that rounded off the sandwich. I liked that way more than the baguette because it was easier to bite into and chew, but baguette lovers will definitely enjoy the free range chicken salad baguettes.

It had shredded chicken and lettuce inside and didn't have gooey sauces that make for messy eating which was good. The baguette was a bit drier and harder than I expected, particularly if you got the baguette end, but the chicken was delicious.

The Store also does really good quiches (which they call tarts). I think a trap a lot of places fall into is having far too much egg in their quiches, but The Store has a good ratio of veges and egg. The vine tomato slices are particularly juicy and sharp which helps take the edge off eating too much egg. The pastry is a bit thin and and not as flaky as I'd like perhaps, but I think the fact that the quiche was cold unlike everything else also made it less than satisfactory. However, I love quiches, so I wasn't unhappy with it per se.

The banana bread was refreshingly devoid of artificial banana essence tastes and seemed freshly made. It wasn't too sweet either, but I felt it was more like a cake than a bread. I also thought the portions a bit small for the price.

Overall, a great little cafe to grab a quick bite from or relax in, definitely recommend their sandwiches and baguettes in particular.

We have been very impressed by the calibre of the eateries in the Britomart precint, and The Store is just as welcome. It's a great location with good food options even though the service can be a bit hit-and-miss. One time we came, the food arrived before the cutlery and the person who ordered granola had to ask for milk to go with it.

The dishes on offer all sound exciting, though some better executed than others. The granola was delicious, crunchy, nutty and not too sweet, served with whipped yoghurt, coconut flakes and fruit. Definitely right up there. The omelette was also beautifully cooked. The chicken burger came with great hand cut chunky fries, crispy but not oily, but the chicken itself was underseasoned, though also skifully cooked. The dish came with house made pickles that didn't really go with the burger, and the lettuce was not dried properly, so it dripped everywhere. Some other dishes we tried were good, but not memorable.

I was surprised that the peanut butter milkshake I ordered was white in colour, but the peanut flavours were there. The coconut and cocoa smoothie was refreshing, tasting more of coconut water than coconut milk, though it temporarily made us feel ill, probably because we had not yet eaten.

All in all, a good place to go for a bit of variety. Nice central location and some very good meal options.

Superb heirloom tomatoes and buratta and chickpea squid salad great aqua frizzante and the gelato is up with the best I've had anywhere

The store is little cafe-like eatery near britomart near other boutique stores such as Milse. Our experience at The Store was nothing amazing, in fact the service we had was quite disappointing. The staff seemed to pay minimal attention to us and other customers. Fortunately the food was of course delicious, albeit a little pricey. There are plenty of seats and the atmosphere of that particular britomart area is very lively.

Would recommend this to those looking for a upper class cafe in the cbd. Woof.
Two Honest Truths
Inside, The Store adopts the same honeycomb wooden walls Milse has. Their award-winning ice cream is also available. On the other side of the restaurant is an on-the-go takeout area where they offer gourmet food and coffee. Of course by dining at a Hip Group restaurant we know that service is going to be impeccable.

Kiwi classic Fish n chips ($21) - We found the fish fresh and the chips thick and crispy. The gribiche was super delicious and flavourful, a nice change to the typical aioli. We were a bit surprised to find the dish accompanied with a slice of toast. It was however very tasty, soft and sweet but not particularly necessary.

Vanilla milkshake ($6.50) - It was almost as if we were drinking vanilla bean ice cream, straight up.

Eggs benedict with bacon ($18.50) - The benes came on two burger style buns that were toasted to perfection. It was accompanied with lots of quality bacon and delicious hollandaise sauce.

Passionfruit frappe ($6.50) - refreshing and full of flavour.

For the full review and more photos visit: http://twohonesttruths.com/category/the-store/
