Review Rosie - Auckland Central

Quinten Oustrup Laureijs
Great little gem of a cafe in Parnell facing the park. We liked the atmosphere, the service and the coffee. A nice touch to keep adding sparkling water to keep hydrated. The big breakfast we ordered was great but the value for money was off in our opinion. The green smoothie was well presented and tasty.

Loved this place. A great space. The taste combinations were fantastic. Staff was wonderful. Great value for the quality of food.

We had a brunch at Rosie's and we would definitely go there again! There was something for everyone, whether you wanted something sweet and delicious from the cabinet, or a more substantial, hearty breakfast. The pastries and cakes were delectable and the savoury meals were just as good too. Service was extremely attentive and both the head waitress and table waiter were lovely and welcoming. Right next to the rose gardens so a great place to head for something to eat after a walk!

We were staying up the road and decided to check Rosie's out. At 1:30pm we felt like some of the breakfast meals and it was not a problem. Service was excellent as was the meals presentation and mix. Great coffee also. Definitely make it a regular in future travels.

We only went to the coffee bar and bakery, but these were some of the most delicious Pattie’s we’ve ever had. We ordered almond croissants and pain au chocolat, and it’s probably best for our health that we don’t live nearby! Everything is made for takeaway here, so we weren’t sure whether it was ok to drink our coffee and eat our pastries in this light, airy place at the great big table.

Delicious food with fresh ingredients! Highly recommend the muesli especially with honeycomb. Scrumptious dish! The restaurant also have a selection of tasty freshly squeezed juice options - be sure to order without ice so it’s not as watered down! In the summer, the relaxed seating outside the restaurant is a cute spot to relax.

Rosie never fails to impress. It's expensive (there's no way around it) but worth it for a high-quality but informal dining experience. Also not too noisy and a pleasant place to sit. Next door to the main restaurant is a separate café for coffees and takeaway snacks and lunch items. Pricey but excellent.

Absolutely love their food. I have been here many times. This week I hosted there 20 guests for dinner who haven’t been there before and most were from abroad and Wellington. All loved the food and service. Most returned for breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day. I highly recommend this restaurant.

WOW!! The food was incredible. Every bite was soooo flavourful. If I could lick my plate clean afterwards, I would. Instead, I tried my best to scrape off every single sauce from the plate with my food. 💯 recommend. Humble looking cafe but food and service were on point!

Absolutely delicious food, great service with thoughtful touches particularly patient and helpful with the kids. Best flat white I’ve had in a very long time. All dishes were with fresh ingredients that seemed to be made in house.

This place is always my favourite restaurant to go. All dishes are fantastic. They change menu regularly, so you will never feel bored. However I must be honest, their coffee is just average. If you are a coffee lover, you may feel a little bit disappointed.

Me & partner went here first time for late lunch. Place atmosphere is lovely, staff is friendly. The food is nice & lovely presentation, the pasta taste more like curry-ish style and my partner fish w/ mushroom sauce was the star of the day among the rest. I order green juice & jasmine-elderflower ice tea (in this photo) both drinks lovely! Coffee was nice based on my partner review. Overall, we are satisfied with the foods & drinks def will back, just little downside is the attentiveness of staff to take empty glasses/dishes from our table 😅 which makes our table bit crowded & not comfortable for enjoying our meal.

Always wanted to visit here when we stumbled upon this restaurant back then. We finally had a chance to have dinner here. Atmosphere was pretty romantic. The food was great, especially the fish. The tagliatelle was pretty nice too. The apple peppermint malt was yummy. The hot chocolate was our less favorite, but still good. Service was friendly.

Stopped by for lunch since we were aiming for their deconstructed hot chocolates. We were greeted at the door and led to our table. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty the menu sounded. It was one of those menus where you wanted to try at least two or three things. I decided to go with the short rib. The rib just fell off the bone and was tender and juicy. The sauce and fig chutney gave it textural and flavour nuances to make the meal very enjoyable. The portions were quite good. Prices are a bit over the $20 mark per plate. Good food and service so would recommend it.

Hands down best pancakes in Auckland! We spent a few days in Auckland as part of our holiday visit from Australia and ended up eating there for breakfast nearly every day after the first because we loved the food so much. On our last day our order sadly got mixed up and delayed significantly, but we still had a wonderful time due to the way the amazing staff dealt with it, even recognising how often we'd come by in the past two weeks. We feel sad we won't be able to come by till we come back to New Zeland again but would fly over just for more pancakes!

Sitting outside in the Winter sunshine with a wonderful Navy friend on a Sunday. Had my little dog with me. I read the reviews a few days earlier and had already zoomed in on the pancakes with bacon. Absolutely superb and wonderful friendly folks walking past with their dogs and those enjoying breakfast at Rosie. Easy 5 stars all round. Friendly youngster's as wait staff. I'll be back. Thank you.

I was honestly surprised. I thought Rosie was a bit more image than quality but I was very wrong. The food is cooked wonderfully, the flavors and dishes are unique to other restaurants. Staff were great. Price was decent too for the quality and I'd say the fish and the in house non alcoholic drinks are espaically worth trying.

Follow me on Instagram @hungrynomster for more food reviews! ❤️<br/><br/>【ROSIE】<br/><br/>Rosie, in my opinion, is hands down one of the best brunch spots in AKL, with not only consistently top-notch quality but also very interesting flavours that are definitely not your typical basic cafe foods. Idk why it took me so long but I finally tried dinner here the other day & was 💯 mind blown 🤯💘.<br/><br/>• 𝘼𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚: The place has glass walls = heaps of sunshine ☀️ = amazing lighting for photos 📸during the day time! At night the hanging halo garland chandelier above the centre of the dining floor is lit up, giving off serious romantic vibes.<br/><br/>• 𝙏𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚: Tbh Rosie’s menu can be a bit confusing - as if they just put random fancy ingredients names tgt & call it a day 😒- BUT don’t be put off & just trusttt that the dishes taste way more impressive than they sound 🤪<br/><br/>𝕊𝕒𝕧𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕪: The star of the night has to be the 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙛, 𝙬𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙨, 𝙨𝙠𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙖, 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 - the beef 🥩 literally melts in your mouth & the umami truffle butter really gives it extra oomph! The 𝙍𝙝𝙪𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙗, 𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙙, 𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖 is a dazzling deconstructed version of the rhubarb custard pie 🥧 though my dumb ass really be expecting a stalk of rhubarb, a spoonful of custard & a vanilla bean on the side - which really does this dish a disservice bc it truly is a work of art. The 𝙁𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙘𝙝𝙚, 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙨𝙚 is luckily quite literal, featuring the 2 said delicious duos with a little bit of golden honey 🍯 drizzled on top. The Vanilla 𝙂𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮 🍨, served with delicately spiced poached pears 🍐 with a drizzle of rich chocolate sauce 🍫 over top, is so elegant & classy it puts all the sundaes out there to shame.<br/><br/>𝔻𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕜𝕤: Whether it be 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙡, 𝙝𝙤𝙩 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤 is a must-try here. It always comes with a glass of frothy milk 🥛 & a jug of rich chocolate ganache 🍫 for you to pour through your drink. (They used to have homemade marshmallows which were such a hit but have now been replaced with boring store-bought marshmallows *cringe* - totally not judging if you’re into that tho, 𝘛𝘖𝘛𝘈𝘓𝘓𝘠). The 𝙅𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙚𝙖 🍹is also a great drink that’s refreshing & sweet but not cloying.<br/><br/>• 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚: Service is excellent & staff are super accommodating. I really like the vibe and the atmosphere at this place. However, menu is confusing and food is overpriced. Went for brunch and took a lot of time trying to find something appealing on the menu. Wasn’t quite satisfied with what I ordered - not feeling, average for taste and overpriced for sure. Coffee are meh, too.

I got the lamb sausage dish with added avocado. Not a very traditional sausage, I didn't like how the meat was crumbly? It was hard to eat. The staff was attentive always filling up on our water.
Louise Hwang
Ordered an omelette with zucchini strips inside. I didn't realise an omelette could taste so bad until I ate at Rosie's. They really need to improve what they put on the table because my friends and I were expecting good breakfast food. Your cream corn was sub par, and overall unappetising. Genuinely felt sick after eating here. Disappointed that your ratings did not match the quality of your food.
BelaIna
The service and ambiance it’s good for a cafeteria. The food came fast and hot. The place was crowded with people but not annoyingly which is nice to see. The only thing I disliked was the flavour of my omelette. Was to watery. Also I added pancetta as an extra and I got 1 very thin overcooked stripe.

Sunday brunch at Rosie’s is always my fav. I love the cosy spot, cheerful service and above all clean flavours. Today i explored the vege menu:<br/>1) Tomatoes, puffed rice, avocado and pecorino- a very balanced dish with freshness from the tomatoes, nuttiness from the puffed rice and creaminess from the avo and pecorino cheese. <br/>2) Asparagus, macadamia, ras el hanout- the asparagus was surprisingly sweet and had a good bite to it. Would have loved a bit more macadamia flavour coming through. <br/>3) Cauliflower, Chickpea fritters, malt chèvre- my favourite of the three. Fritters were fluffy and full of flavour,

I came here for lunch with my boyfriend because I remember having the scampi pasta and it was really good. The location is really nice and the atmosphere was very lively. The service was fast and efficient but the food took a while to come out because it was the busiest time when we went. I got the pulled pork sausage for a change and he got the omelette with pancetta. My pulled pork sausage was really delicious, the sausage was flavoured nicely and the ingredients used was fresh and pulled the dish together. I highly recommend Rosie for brunch/lunch because it's a cafe away from the main street of Parnell so you also have a local neighbourhood feel to it!

Good muffin! They gave butter on wrong plate so me and my friends had to swaped ourself and there was no sugar sticks on the table(not a big deal). They keep filles the glass with sparkling water and taste good to stay long. Dates muffin was very nice and good place to spend time.

A really nice place with a nice atmosphere. I came here for my friend’s birthday a while back and I decided to come again for my own birthday. They were very accommodating and the staff was always friendly. They serve sparkling water and give you heaps of refills. <br/><br/>The lamb shoulder with flatbread is my favourite. The lamb is super tender and everything is delicious, although I wish there was a couple more pieces of flatbread with it. My friends got the clam pasta and really liked it too.

Same high quality food as other Hip Group places. Service was good, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu, able to give recommendations . Downside was that it was too warm and stuffy inside, tables a bit too close together. A been there done that experience for me.

Had a nice Saturday brunch up here a few weeks back. Had one of my go to's -  poached eggs with a side of bacon and sourdough. Food was good, service was good. It was a little cramped and hot with the sun pouring in (see photo). Solid 4.

I like rosie. It belongs to hip group. Their cafes all have same standard. Maybe the presentation is not beautiful. But the food ingredients created great. If you want old fashion traditional food you could not miss it.

Everything we ordered were super delicious. Only wish they served breakfast/brunch menu all day. We got there a bit late and could only order from the lunch menu. Will be back!

Lovely location, service needs improvement, payment arrangements also need consideration, as it is unclear who is waiting for coffee and who needs to pay. Many of the staff are lovely, but as a regular, it would be nice to see some consistency in service. Great coffee

I was meeting some friends early in the afternoon and we decided to stop here. Whilst this place doesn’t look all big and flashy, it was surprisingly spacious. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I had the beef with the quail egg, the presentation was very well done and the taste was really good as well. A place to return again for sure.

The esteemed Rosie Café, made even more famous by John Key’s hair pulling tactics it taken me far too long to check out Rosies. First off, I’ll probably do another review for this place. I was invited to Rosie by my mentor who’s moved to another company and I wanted to catch up with him in regards to some business. <br/><br/>The ambiance was as expected classy. Coffee was as expected quality, although I didn’t have the chance to eat anything my mentor did pick up some lamb rump and watching him devour his meal I assume it was delicious. Service was fabulous and I’ll be sure to come back soon.<br/><br/>Love the bathrooms, clean and elegant I’m a sucker for nice bathrooms.<br/><br/>Showstopper: OP date spot.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+

Lunch is great here, very nice and relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food and coffee 😋 service is always good and wait staff is always helpful in recommendations. Love the decor that’s why I come often.

Certainly a 5 star. I've been to Rosie almost every second day for the past 5 years. I love the relaxing atmosphere to start the morning. The staff are very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. If you are looking for a 6.30 a.m. coffee start any day of the week you'd be hard press trying to find somewhere better!

I always wanted to go here for breakfast or lunch, but its always busy. Had a chance to be in the area around 3 in the afternoon and decided to have an afternoon tea here (it wasn’t full that time). From the outside the place doesn’t look that it had so much space inside, but it does. The place is clean and staff are so accommodating and friendly. I like that they give you sparkling water and refills it when they see you’re almost finish with it. I had the Salted caramel hot chocolate and a piece of macaroon. It was nicely presented and taste really good as well. I will come back here with my partner and try their breakfast/lunch menu.<br/><br/>So I’ve returned to try out other stuff in their menu. And I wasn’t disappointed. This time my friend and I ordered some savoury. I had the Pulled pork sausage; plating was really eye catching, taste wise I love how the saltiness of the sausage mixed with the chilli creme, the poached egg was divine. I also had the a Salted caramel vanilla macademia smoothie which I also like cause it’s not to sweet. My friend had the Omelette, it was a huge serving and might be good for two people. The omelette was nice, but the pancetta was a bit too salty. She also had a glass of Malt and honey smoothie which was nice according to her. <br/>

I tried their french toast and it was pretty delicious. The caramel cream on top was very different from anything Ive tried and complimented the dish very well. I did think the pricing in general was a little bit overpriced compared to other brunch places.<br/><br/>Ambiance was nice and service was good!

Super friendly place and very nice interior. You get served with sparkling water and someone came around to refill my glass as soon as i drank more than half of it. I had the salted caramel hot chocolate which didn‘t only look amazing but also tasted delicious. Will have to come back for food next time.

Dined here for lunch on a Saturday the place wasn’t busy and we managed to grab a table! Service was excellent the staff were super friendly (we had our 9months old with us) and they were very accommodating. We got there just after 12 and have two menu a breakfast and lunch/dinner. Our meals were from their lunch/dinner menu. We ordered Lamb, Venison, Kumara, flat bread and chai&flat white (both super yum). The dishes came out super fast and very well presented! Our meat was cooked to perfection and the flavours were subtle and goes together really well! We did prefer the lamb dish over the venison dish. And the Kumara side was delicious! For what we ordered we paid $92 (2people) which was decent and the quality of food was outstanding. <br/><br/>I’m not giving them a 5 due to the Ambiance being average the place is actually super small and crowded (for those with little ones, don’t bring your strollers! They do have high chairs but no changing table.) But the vibe is very relaxing and still enjoyable despite the size..Overall we love this place and will definitely be back to try their other dishes!

Rosie has a very high rating at Zomato. We were there for brunch on a Sunday. There were a lot of customers. I had a fried halloumi with mushrooms, seeds & poached eggs.  Halloumi wasn't too salty with seeds & mushrooms & was really nice - a 4/5. My wife's bacon, egg & bap was good - a 3.5/5. Too bad the photo of my Lamington didn't come out. I would say, it's excellent. <br/>(Food - 4/5; Service 4/5; Ambience - 3/5)<br/>Visited on 20 May 2018

Absolutely delightful 😊 walked in on a busy mothers day got asked takeaway or eat in. We ate in and the lady wrote our name down straight away and said 15mins. We went next door to flower shop and walked back in 15mins and our table was ready. 😊😊😊<br/>The food was devine definitely different but so tasty and delicious.<br/>We ordered = scampi omelette, flat bread with hummus, pork sausage with scrambled eggs and a flat white. All beautiful presentation and can taste every bite 😄<br/>What an amazing and delicious meal !!!

I was so excited to finally come to Rosie for lunch on a Saturday. It was an absolute disappointment.<br/><br/>Ambience: 4/5<br/>Nice location. Beautiful setting and decoration. Heaps of windows and light. <br/><br/>Service: 2/5<br/>Honestly, staff were neither friendly nor attentive. We sat right in the front but had to wait a while before the barista noticed us and told the waitress to take our order. While eating I had to chuck a lot of water because my dish was very salty. I was waiting to speak to someone and ask for more water but none of the staff paid attention so we decided to leave. When paying, she didn’t even ask if everything was okay even though I was clearly upset. She just gave me the amount to pay and sent me on my way.<br/><br/>Food: 2/5<br/>We got the Scampi Omelette and the Stuffed fried bread. My Scampi Omelette was really really salty, and that’s saying something because normally I eat quite salty food. The sauce reduction was more like a soup that the omelette sat in. The execution on the scampi were somewhat nice but not consistent, two were overdone and felt like rubber. My friend said his fried bread was ok, but not something he would want to eat again. Price was expensive given the portion and taste. $28 for the Scampi Omelette and $25 for the Stuffed fried bread.<br/><br/>I left Rosie feeling hugely disappointed and hungry. i stopped for bagel on the way home. Definitely not going back and would not recommend it to anyone.

A good coffee with an almond croissant! Both were excellent. Service was quick and attentive. A small but interesting lunch menu. Venue was full at 11:00am

How could you not give this place 5 stars?<br/><br/>I've been fortunate enough to go here twice now: once for dinner and once for a sunday brunch. Both times the food and service was absolutely spectacular.<br/><br/>For dinner, all I can remember of the night were the fantastic smoothies and the fried zucchini flowers. For brunch, we got the fried bread sausage, smoothies, and coffee. All were absolutely fantastic.I would come here e very day if I could afford it!

Welcome back to my Auckland review series! Today we’re talking Rosie’s, a vibrant eatery in the neighbourhood of Parnell. Picture the scene: Great big floor to ceiling windows, a garland of sparkling lights, colourful cushions and stylish wicker chairs. A room full of people. Waitresses buzzing around cheerily; chefs hard at work behind the open pass; the old couple treating themselves to a mid week bite; the suits deep in business chat and the girly catchup in the middle of the room.
Angela
Service was impeccable! The staff were very friendly, and offered us a new drink after we accidentally spilt it. It’s a little pricey but definately worth it. We had the fish kebab and sweet corn, a long with their green smoothie and house made sodas. Highly recommend!

Ambience: Loved it. A nice and very relaxing atmosphere with an open view and lots of natural lighting looking out into the neighbourhood (5/5). <br/><br/>Food: On a Saturday morning brunch (11am), beverage wise we ordered a Coconut Smoothie (4/5) and a Jasmine and Elderflower iced tea (4.5/5) from the speciality range. Both were very tasty and I found the tea refreshing and well balanced in flavour. To eat, we decided to get one of each off the sweet and savoury menu. The Crepes, stone fruit, macadamia nuts, earl gray anglaise (5/5) as well as the Ricotta and butchers stuffed sausage fried bread, poached egg, smoked hung yoghurt were ordered (4/5). Both tasted amazing!! The flavours and texture all exploded in my mouth. Each mouthful was very enjoyable. Portion size was just right as well. Both can be shared. <br/><br/>Price: Didn't mind paying abit more than I would for exceptional quality and unique dishes. <br/><br/>Service: All the staff had great customer service. We were seated right away and they were attentive. Will definitely be coming back!

This was our second visit for breakfast , still enjoyed it. Food and service were both great. <br/>Scampi Omelette were delicious. Maybe one day we will go back to try their All Day Menu.

Rosie is my favourite cafe in Auckland. They're so accommodating and the service is outstanding, they always remember my coffee order! If you like iced coffee this is the place for you!

Was very excited to try this place. Visited with my friend who said their coffee is always top notch. Yes, coffee was very good. I ordered avocado, hummus, tomato, fermented chilli with turkish pide and my friend ordered scampi omelette. I seriously could not cut through those turkish pide. I have no idea whether the knife was blunt but I struggled with pide so much that it ruined my whole experience at Rosie. And overall my whole dish was just too salty.. I could not finish it. Maybe... Maybe if I am around the area I may visit again for coffee, but not for their food. Hugely disappointed..

Rosie is one of our all-time favorite restaurants that has a consistent standard of excellent service and delicious food. We love how they handle every ingredient with respect and finesse, in every visit we thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes with rich layers of flavors that match so well together.

Another place on my Wishlist, I finally went on Thursday evening. It was horrible weather outside and we were welcomed into a beautiful space and sat immediately. The waiter was very kind and prompt with our orders. I had market fish (blue nose) with kumara purée and spinach 'coleslaw'. The food was deliver piping hot to perfection - I love receiving food that warms your insides when you taste it. It was delicious that I had to test the dessert. I shared the Varona chocolate mouse with citrus and donuts - not DF/GF at all (I paid for it later!) but was worth the treat. It was silky and finger licking good. Food was priced well for quality and size. <br/>I will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu!

Went here on the weekend with two friends and it was absolutely perfect! The cafe itself is on a corner facing the rose gardens, nice open plan with lots of seating.<br/><br/>Service was amazing, we were greeted by the Maitre'd/ Manager and sat down within minutes. Our waitress came over with water and menus, taking the time to tell us what was popular and tasty as well. Every time making sure that it was all going well and if she could get us anything else.<br/><br/>I had the scampi omelette which honestly was to die for! So delicious! My friends meals were also tasty. <br/><br/>Would definitely return to this cafe as it was a great experience! Only negative comment I would make is your door, it is way too big and awkward for such a small opening. As we were trying to get in there was a lot of congestion and my friend got stuck on the other side of it.

This place truly felt like it was gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen. Excellent service. <br/><br/>Beautiful atmosphere. Food is delicious. Must try the Venison & Goat Cheese and their market Fish of the Day for mains. Channa (waiter) is excellent and very hospitable- well done!<br/><br/>..I just have to comment on how we asked for 5+1 baby pax..and we were seated in a table for four because the other tables are booked? but then those customers haven't arrived yet when we were about to leave. There were also plenty of seats available, we just needed a bit of space.. or maybe a baby chair offered (maybe next time) =)<br/><br/>Other than that, their drinks are well-made and we really liked the hot chocolate and coconut chocolate smoothie.<br/><br/>Highly recommend this place.

By far, one of the best brunch spots in Auckland. The waitress was super friendly. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. Drinks are slightly overpriced, but food is defs worth it! ❤

I tried this place with some of my friends and just looking at the prices it wasnt student friendly but since we were already there we wanted to try it. The place was small but cozy. The food were really good and made me forget about the prize for a few minutes. I want to go back but I hope they move to a more easily accessible area.

Mike the chef there is amazing, love the breakfast salad! Their cabinet of pastries is always very hard to resist... potentially the best coffee in Auckland, I remember in one visit I had four!! The pulled pork sandwich is my go to for lunch. Best cafe in Auckland by a mile.

Great atmosphere, attentive staff, delicious food. <br/><br/>We were there for dinner and between us we ordered the venison, grilled chicken, and pork dishes which were all cooked beautifully. Looking forward to our next visit already.

I've been keeping Rosie on my list of "restaurants to try" for quite a long time because I think the plate decorating looks not very special. But impression from visit last Saturday was just so lovely. The place is simple but clean, beautiful view through the big glass. We tried the chicken sandwich from the bakery counter and Salmon omelette from the kitchen. The chicken had a very special smoked flavour which I really like and omelette was just perfect. And the best thing- that tiny cup of coffee. Smooth foam just made my relax morning. Staffs are also very helpful and friendly. Now I understand why this place has been remaining such a high rated through time.

Lovely food, great service, beautiful venue. My boss took me here with a colleague for lunch on a busy week day and it's one I'd like to come back to!<br/><br/>I had the smashed eggs with field mushrooms, which also came with ricotta and potato pieces. The mushrooms in particular were delicious.<br/><br/>But I had a serious case of lunch envy when the eggs bene with fish and seared kingfish mains came to our table. <br/><br/>They'll be no shortage of things to try on my next visit!

Very chic place from the staff to the decor. Lively and great atmosphere. More importantly, really good tasting food. Fusion lovers-this is the place for you but if you just want a simple scrambled eggs that is not on the menu, just ask the staff and they can do it for you!

We ate here on a chilly Sunday evening. Inside was warm enough but not toasty. I ordered a honey malt smoothie that was gone before I could get a picture. For the main I had a seafood salad consisting of generous portions of (battered?) fried shrimp/crab/lobster. It was great and I didn't want to share. We did however go halves on dessert which was a passionfruit gelato with baked coconut flakes. Our waiters carried strong foreign accents thoughthey provided a friendly service all the same. We were given a $100 gift voucher and concluded that it was perfect for two sober people (x2 smoothies, x2 mains, x1 side dish, x1 dessert) Will be back after a pay rise. <br/><br/>Solid 4.5/5

Great service, nice atmosphere and amazing flavour combinations in the food. Wine list great too! Highly recommend for people after high quality casual dining.

Great location, awesome service but we think the food is quite average. Their smoothie is really well presentation and tasty very yum! We have malt and honey and leave smoothie. Both of them are really lovely!<br/><br/>The food is quite average. The egg Benedict with smoked fish is little bit dry. The pancake is very sticky inside and that comes with passion fruits I don't think it a proper combination.<br/><br/>Overall excellent location, environment and service. If you are looking for a perfect environment it is a right place. However not the quality of the food.

Rosie in Parnell is another restaurant owned by the Hip Group - this of course comes with high expectations of good food & service. I'm happy to say that this lives up to their reputation.<br/>The waiter for our large group was friendly & efficient. Nothing was a problem & things like wine & water were topped up at just the right time.<br/>The food was all amazing - beautifully presented & delicious from the mains to the sides & desserts. None of us had a bad meal which isn't always the case in a large group.<br/>Looking forward to visiting again soon

Very underwhelming meal. 700g of meat still mooing. Was not asked how we would like meat cooked. Returned it to the kitchen twice. Told that 'that is how the chef cooks it'. Chicken cutlet was served on the most enormous pile of peas which we doubt were fresh. The coating on the chicken was flavourless. Loads of lentils with the fish. Sides saved the day though the beans were raw rather than crisp. Prosecco was excellent. Sadly, not recommended.

We came to Rosie on a Sunday morning at 9am.<br/>It was already busy but we were seated right away. <br/>Service was good and the staff were helpful.<br/>I ordered the chorizo croquettes - these came with 2 poached eggs on zoodles with a bit of butternut mash it was good but wouldn't order again <br/>The chocolate coconut smoothie was delicious <br/>My friends had the smashed eggs and smoked fish omelette they both left happy

Love the atmosphere, awesome setting and Deco, comfortably modern, the salad was very bitter, the price is a bit on the higher end of cafe food but very generous portions were served 😱😱😱👌🏻👌🏻

Good quality food on perfect location close to judges bay. Friendly staffs with perfect environment! The lamb flat bread introduced my their friendly waitress was perf👌🏻👌🏻

In comparison with all of the industrial-styled cafes on trend these days, Rosie is quite simply and minimally decorated, while featuring a stunning halo/garland style lighting as the centrepiece.<br/><br/>I was surprised at how absolutely packed the place was on Monday that we had to wait outside for seats, thankfully it did not take long before we were seated. I was not hugely hungry so just wanted to order a small lunch for the cabinet - it was a pity that the cabinet was very small, with extremely limited options, and mostly sweets. I guess that was there strategy of getting the customers to order from the menu!<br/><br/>So I opt for the green leaf smoothie - service was very fast, and it was one of the most delicious green smoothies that I have had, completely not bitter from the vegetables but sweetened with fruit :) It was also a very tall glass for what you pay for, I was completely full by the time I finished mine! Husband had the malt & honey smoothie which was just heavenly - tasted just like a glass of Horlicks richly flavoured wit honey, but in smoothie form.<br/><br/>The items on the menu was a bit pricier than normal cafes, but it was totally worth it. The serving sizes were huge. Most importantly the food presentation, quality, and flavourings were impeccable. Husband ordered the flat bread with short ribs. It was as pretty as a picture, but tasted even better than it looked. The flat bread had an amazing firm texture, the ribs were fall-off-the-bone and melt-in-your-mouth kind, the chilli mayo packed quite the kick, but it was perfectly balanced by the salad. Neither of us could fault the dish at all, husband said he would definitely rate the place a solid 4.5/5! <br/><br/>Overall, this place is understated and full with surprises. The ideal place for a gourmet date.

Stopped by for lunch since we were aiming for their deconstructed hot chocolates. We were greeted at the door and led to our table. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty the menu sounded. It was one of those menus where you wanted to try at least two or three things.<br/><br/>I decided to go with the short rib. The rib just fell off the bone and was tender and juicy. The sauce and fig chutney gave it textural and flavour nuances to make the meal very enjoyable. The portions were quite good.<br/><br/>Prices are a bit over the $20 mark per plate. Good food and service so would recommend it.

I am in love with most of the Hip Group eateries, including Milse, The Store, Ortolana and Amano, so it is no surprise that I am now loving Rosie, a busy cafe and restaurant located near the Parnell Rose Gardens. Rosie has been around for quite a while now (almost three years!), so I am a bit late to the party. Having just moved nearby, I thought it high time I check out this popular eatery. So far, I have really enjoyed their coffee, their specialty Valrhona house hot chocolate and more recently, their brunch fare.

The old proverbial saying about judging a book by its cover could easily nowadays apply to the dining scene, where appearances can often matter more for diners than the quality of food served. For a small cafe like Rosie with no flashy board sign or pretentious gimmicks, it would seem rather ambivalent to patrons on their continued success, given that casual on-goers through Gladstone Rd could easily miss the cafe situated on the outskirts of Parnell. For readers unaware of this gem in Auckland, Rosie is a cafe that embodies the idea that decor and appearances can mean very little when the food and service is simply a notch above the rest. <br/>The moment we tried our dishes we knew Rosie was a pretty special place. Having just eaten at Odettes Eatery the month before, it was remarkable for my friend and I to concur immediately that the flavour here were indeed much more refined and spectacular. Not only was the proportion sizes more appropriate for the amount paid for, the fresh vibrant colours contrasted with the different edible elements made each and every dish ordered a sense of peculiar care. <br/>All the elements were cooked well, with the duck rendered perfectly and the John Dorry moist in texture juxtaposed with its crispy skin. The brilliance of the two mains was that it had a similar template whereupon there is a bountiful grain (couscous & risotto) to compliment the protein, some sort of acidic/pickled element for contrast and a crunchy texture - found in the hazelnut on the fish & the oat crumble on the duck. The elements worked very well making it a very enjoyable brunch indeed. Perhaps the best part was the grilled kumara topped with ricotta. The fact we thought this was the most rewarding element was due to its simplicity yet ergonomic use of coriander butter which enhanced the smokiness of the smoked potato. Notwithstanding how brilliant the mains were, we felt the elegance of the kumara upheld its flavour the most and was indeed something we finished rather quickly. My friend also complemented the hot chocolate which is gospel in itself.

Been here a few times as it is very close to me. Both food and coffee are great. Very special. The service is always good. Highly recommended!

Crowned best café in Metro for 2014, we had pretty high hopes for this revamped corner of Parnell. This is a Hip Group creation after all, the creative minds behind Ortolana and St Helier's Bistro & Café — if anything, we're looking for a surprise rather than just immaculately-made food… We found the space rather quickly despite the lack of signage — the jewel-bright ottomans dotting the perimeter gave us a hand as well as the general buzz of the place. We had to squeeze into the entrance past the narrow strip between the cashier, coffee machine and waiting customers to get to our table — reminding us vividly of the layout of Milse or Takapuna Beach café… a Hip Group trend perhaps? Vintage white shutters lined the ceiling and the chairs were made of woven stripes of leather — a large wreath of petal-like structures glowed like a halo in the center of the room (a tribute to its namesake, perhaps). The space was well-lit with large panels of glass sliding doors. All in all, the vibes were there, though the loud chatter in the small space made conversation difficult; neither is it a space you could sit with a latte and book to idle on for half a day — unless you don't mind being glared at by customers waiting for a table. Go for the Malt 'n' Honey smoothie we reckon - we swear it won't disappoint!<br/><br/>Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/rosie-march-2015

Quaint place to stop for brunch, friendly enough staff. However a little squishy inside, quite hard to have a conversation with my bf across the table without yelling over the tables next door. If they reduced the inside by a couple tables I actually quite enjoy the interior design and atmosphere. <br/>I didn't manage to try anything in the display cabinet but the Sammies looked tasty.<br/>We ordered the salted caramel hot chocolate which was a popular drink and tasted good, it's got more the fun of putting it together yourself which makes it look interesting. We ordered a rum cocktail which was rather tasty, could do with a tad more alcohol but great combo. <br/>Lastly we both got flat breads, I got the beef short rib and bf got the lamb. The dishes were very well balanced with the right amount of salt, sweet and tart. Portion size surprisingly perfect, very generous with the meat, not too much not too little just right. <br/>Only downside is they claim their flat bread is made in house, however they soak it with a watery sauce which makes it rather soggy. If they used a slightly thicker sauce or separated them that would make it a perfect dish. <br/>Overall, a nice experience, I would revisit to try other dishes.

Amazing food and friendly staff. Highly recommended! Gets really busy around 10.30am during the weekends so be there early to avoid massive queue!

Came here with a few friends on a saturday for brunch..was pretty busy so we had to wait outside for about half an hour, which was fine as it was a nice day. Waitress asked our group if we wanted to order coffees, to which we agreed but then they forgot to bring mine out, so I had to ask then again once we sat down. Food was good, atmosphere was nice.

Alright, why we came into this cafe? Been staying in Quality Hotel Parnell before we settled down and we drove through the cafe almost everyday for a month. Every time we saw the cafe was full and very popular...<br/><br/>So we decided to give it a try this day. <br/>We ordered flat white, hot chocolate, salted caramel hot chocolate and brekkies. <br/><br/>I don't quite fancy the food but I love their salted caramel hot chocolate! <br/>Something you cannot find else where and the rating 5.0 is for the salted caramel hot chocolate!<br/>

I went to Rosie for lunch and wow was really impressed. I ordered the omelette with fish and capers and it was seriously the best omelette I have ever eaten!! Service was very good and so fast!!

Love this cafe! The menu is amazing, the food is just delicious and the staff are always amazingly helpful and friendly! They also make the best coffee in Auckland!<br/>

Nice celebrating my friend's birthday at such a pleasant lunch place. The waiters are pleased to recommend their specialities and all the food we ordered were enjoying.<br/>We had two cocktails. Both of their fitted our taste. <br/>Good lunch places at Parnell! Definitely will come along again sometime.

I love this place! Their market fish is to die for 😍 and if you go there for brunch/lunch be sure to try their kale smoothie for a healthy kick! Food is reasonable priced and service is incredible, the staff really know the menu well and are very helpful! <br/>

Great coffee and atmosphere, always enjoy my experience at Rosie! The food is always good from both the kitchen and the cabinet! It's quite amazing how they can make a croissant taste so good. Great decorand atmosphere, gets quite busy so ger in there quick.
Warrick Corfe-Tan
Atmosphere was nice, love the ambience. Cosy, contemporary aesthetic. Appetiser was nice but a little dull. The main I had was really nice market Fish with barley I think, my only criticism is that it could've have been moister or had more sauce in the dish. Desert was a very nicest an rich brownie, berry and mouse with a hot chocolate. The drinks were also really refreshing and unique. Excuse my<br/>Horrible paragraph structure. Over all really nice place.

Beautiful place tucked away near parnell.<br/>Best time to go is at night time since restaurant has nice lovely lighting. Went to this place twice. Once for lunch and another for dinner. Both times the place was busy. <br/><br/>All the dishes I've tried was great except for fish dish i had last time. I was so suprised when waitress came with a dish which had whole fish cooked that wasn't cut. It was quiet gross to see all the eyes and tail there. It had really strong fish taste and had all the bones. Could not able to finish....<br/><br/>Food 7/10<br/>Price 6/10 <br/>Place 10/10<br/>Service 8/10

Rosie's focus is on locally sourced, fresh, seasonal food, with the aim of letting the ingredients shine. And based on my experience, Rosie totally nailed it. While I rarely have more than two courses (main and dessert) the entree options were too tempting to resist. The special of the day - fried zucchini flowers stuffed with pinenuts and feta - was a great dish. Just as good were the panfried tarakihi fillets, and the pretty mini doughnuts with passionfruit curd and peach proved to be a wonderful finish. Great food, superior service and all for a reasonable price

We went here for breakfast today morning before leaving Auckland after reading the reviews on Zomato. I must say we were not disappointed at all.<br/><br/>There wasn't sufficient vegetarian on the menu but they were happy accommodate. We started off with a fresh citrus juice and superberry with flaxseed smoothie. Both were very refreshing. I had the passionfruit Panna cotta with milk and granola bars while my husband ordered the hash browns with mushrooms and feta.<br/><br/>The Panna cotta with the passion fruit was superb it was fresh, light and not overly sweet. It went well with the granola bars. I was so happy with my meal didn't even try his meal. He said it tasted good so will have to take his word for it.<br/><br/>The portion sizes are quite big and they charge accordingly too. The entire meal cost us about 50$. The only upside to it was the meal was good and filling.

First time dine in for lunch at this cafe, the service was good, this miss our order but they doing Their best to recover it... We order fish of the day and omelette and donuts with fruit smoothies, foods was pretty good with great services.. Well done Rosie!

Nice cafe. Pleasant food. Wonderful sunlight streaming in. Quick service. But a few too many flies.<br/>We ordered an eggplant dish, chickpea and zucchini fritters, and black pudding and liver sausages. All were very nice. A few too many tomatoes with the eggplant for my liking however that was only a minor point. <br/>The flavoured sodas were delicious too. <br/>After lunch we got coffee and tea and a few desserts to share. The lemon meringue tart was by far the best, followed by a baked custard with prunes which was interesting and not unpleasant, and then last came the chocolatey tart which needed much more flavour and was quite bland. Looked pretty though! <br/>Overall it was a lovely lunch in the wonderful area of Parnell. The service could have been a little friendlier but it was quick. Flies were a little annoying. Nice food though, and a comprehensive menu with more dishes that I'd like to order.

Couldn't help stopping at Rosie's after passed in front of it during my lunch break.<br/><br/>"Packed means good", I thought, and fortunately I wasn't wrong.<br/><br/>The staff was very kind since I came in, and made the waiting for a table pass quickly while I had a fine espresso.<br/><br/>My order was the market fish, which was cooked to perfection, crispy skin and moist inside. The mild seasoning highlighted the delicate flavours of the meat.<br/><br/>Fresh vegetables sided the dish, and the radish was particularly good, as well as some delicate sprouts, that matched with the fraiche sauce. <br/><br/>It wasn't described in the menu, but there was a smoked capsicum sauce in it. The flavour was very good, but too strong, considering that there was another fava beans hummus that, as you may think, is far from subtle.<br/><br/>Also think that the amount of corn was unecessarily big since it doesn't bring much to the dish.<br/><br/>For dessert I had a pumpkin pie, which had a good chocolate, but could be fresher.<br/><br/><br/><br/>

Dined at Rosie for breakfast this morning. I have never been here before. Rosie is nicely decorated and very cozy but the tables are probably a bit too close together which can make it feel cramped.<br/>I ordered the lamb meatballs which was served with eggplant, spiced tomato, agria hash and labneh. The flavours of this dish is very well balanced and work well together. The has brown was nice and crispy and not oily. The labneh went so well with the spiced tomato and meatball. The flavour of the meatballs were very nice but personally I found the texture too dense. You could probably kock someone out with it.<br/>My fellow diner ordered the lamb liver and black pudding sausage which was served with beetroot and vinegar. This is a type of dish which you would only like if you love liver. It is quite rich. I am not a huge fan of liver so probably would not have been able to finish it. My diner felt like it needed something to balance out the richness like some toast or rocket but he still liked it and finished it regardless. The soy hot chocolate was delicious and they gave that special touch with a homemade marshmallow.
Whiskyncigars
I ordered the black pudding and language liver. Outstanding dish. Rich and tasty if you like this sort of stuff. Not many people have this on their menu but it was well executed . I do believe it would have been improved by a piece of bread or hash because it is so rich but in saying that I loved it

Nice cafe/restaurant atmosphere with unique menu offerings. If you want to try something different then this is a great place to go. The dishes incorporated quite a strange combination, not quite my cup of tea but maybe yours. The service was good though and the presentation also nicely done. We ordered the market fish/watermelon dish which was quite strange.. And the flat iron steak which was slightly over seasoned.

came here for a second time after enjoying the first so much. we were seated immediately as we arrived not long after they opened. I had the omelette with feta and courgette, my dad had the black pudding eggs bene, and my mum had the smashed eggs. my parents both had coffee which they said was perfect, and I (again) loved the coconut chocolate smoothie. the food came out relatively fast which was nice, and we all genuinely enjoyed our meals! staff were friendly and helpful, the only downfall being that our water was never refilled throughout the meal, and our plates were not cleared for about 15/20 minutes (and they weren't overly busy), definately reccomend once again though for a fresh and tasty meal!

Super busy place! Caught up with some friends here on a Saturday avro. Loved the atmosphere. Good service, but not the best I've experienced. A friend ordered just a Swiss roll from the counter and took them ages (>20 minutes to arrive), and we had to remind one of their staffs. The berry smoothie was delicious, and so are their garlic potatoes.
Paris
Great fresh food like all the hip group restaurants! Although very frustrating as they forgot our meal and had to wait 30min as others who arrived after got all theirs. Blue nose market fish was very fresh and super tasty though and coffees are always Devine! Lamb meatballs not as fresh and rosti was little greasy but otherwise good

Popped into Rosie one weekday night for a spot of dinner, they were busy and we manage do grab the last table, we were told that a new menu had started that night and it did not disappoint. Started we shared the mozzarella fior Di latte, which was a cheese drenched it olive oil topped with plum that you slathered over bread. I could have sat there with a couple plates of that and be done for the night. Mains we had the flat iron steak and the char grilled chicken, the steak was cooked to perfection and tender, the chicken was moist and both played were generous in serving sizes. A side of potato roasties never go amiss and these were lovely and crunchy. Dessert was the donuts which that night were served with passion fruit, and the seasonal Eton mess of cherry and apple. Ordered a salted caramel hot chocolate with dessert which comes out as a jug of chocolate caramel and your glass of frothy milk so you can poor and little or as much into your glass, I may have gone overboard. Was a very lovely evening, dinner was not rushed and received great service from both Channa and Evan. Can't wait to go back, maybe this time for the breakfast menu.

I'm gonna keep this short. Beautiful cafe and very clean. Service was average and nothing out of the ordinary, would have been nice if the waiter explained the menu a bit. I got the market fish and it was good but nothing amazing and out of the world. Overall, I wasnt blown away. Everything was just average and I probably wouldn't go there again for overpriced average food and service, didn't really live up to hype.

After hearing about their top cafe in 2014 I think? I've been wanting to pay a visit and finally got around to it today<br/>From the outside doesn't look like much <br/>Interior was very modern & clean<br/>They had a range of sandwiches and pastries as alternate options to their menu which was great <br/>Greeted straight upon entering and very quick service -food came out fast despite being busy and waitresses did not make us wait to order which was lovely<br/>We shared the lamb meatballs and mozzarella dish they were both very unique and delicious <br/>I had their supervery smoothie which was lovely topped with a heap of flax seed + friend had a root juice which was also very refreshing <br/>This place sits on the more expensive side relative to other cafes but worth it for their location (parnell) and service + quality <br/>Would love to come back and try other dishes<br/>Thank you

Visited Rosie for the first time today and lived up to my expectations! I had the special which was stuffed deep fried zucchini flowers plated with a delicious green sauce, creamy white dollops of gorgeousness, grilled chunks of zucchini, radish slices and watercress. Absolutely divine!!! Highly suggest this becomes a regular on your menu as I would come back for this dish in a heart beat. Service was very attentive, plum and basil soda was refreshing, coffee was spot on and shared a "lamington" for dessert (I would consider renaming this item as really didn't resemble a lamington at all!) which was rich and sumptuous. Would definitely go again for brunch or lunch.

Amazing place with an oh so feel good ambience. Went there on new year day. Had to sit inside inspite of the beautiful outside seating, as it was raining bad. There was a waiting time of 20 minutes which was not a problem as we ordered while waiting and the food was ready as we got a table. We had the green eggs Benedict with smoked fish, spicy chicken salad, sausage and hash brown along with coffees. All the dishes were nothing less than amazing. Taste: 10/10. Appearance: 10/10. The portions could have been a tad bit more but no complaints on that front as we were starving. The staff was the most awesome ever and apologised multiple times for the wait time. The restaurant is on the pricey range plus being a public holiday we paid a 15% surcharge. <br/>Will i go back - damn yes i would<br/>P.s thats a cup of fluffy.

The green eggs benedict with smoked fish is oh-so-delicious! The food, service and ambience is pretty much the same as the other Hip group cafes. Plenty of street parking.

Came for brunch on a beautiful hot day a few weeks ago. The service was great, we had a few lovely waiters look after or table of 5. Offered water on arrival as we had to wait for a table. A very busy little bistro which is a good sign. I had the smashed eggs which were delicious although I feel as if the menu is a tad overpriced. I also ordered the "cold brew" which i normally would order at other speciality coffee cafes and it came out as a sweetened tea instead of black coffee. Maybe add "tea" to the menu to eliminate further confusion? Also when we went to pay - the glass cabinet was legit infested with flies... Had to let the waiter know as nobody was paying attention to it. Overall an OK experience at Rosie.

Came here for brunch with the family, had a salted Carmel iced choc, smashed avo and hubby had eggs bene! The avo hollandaise was a clean fresh version of the usual rich topping. The smashed avo<br/>Was amazing! Never fault with these stores as the store on Kohi is my local fav. <br/>

Delicious food, coffee and a warm surround made for a lovely lunch here. <br/><br/>The food was presented beautifully and tasted just as good. Service was efficient and friendly. <br/><br/>Highly recommend the omelette or the butchers sausage as they were both flavoursome and easily enough for a goos Sunday brunch. Great wine selection here too.

OMG 😍💕 yes yes yes yes! Driven past this place every time I'm in Parnell and had always wondered what the hype was. Popped in one morning and I have no regrets. The staff are absolutely lovely and extremely accommodating. They make you feel welcome especially as a lone diner. I got the 'Rosie grill' and I feel as if my life has changed forever since having the quail egg and hash brown cake here. I don't think I've had a better breakfast in my entire life. Highly highly recommend - yes it's pricey but it's pricey for s reason! Love love love

I highly recommend this cafe! From the ambiance, decor, service, food and food presentation, every single bit of it is absolute perfection!<br/><br/>I hate marshmallows but I sure loved theirs! Their home made sugar free, gluten free marshmallows were just the right amount of sweetness and it melted in your mouth. They used dark chocolate in their hot chocolate and it went very well with the marshmallow. The ox tongue dish I had was just marvelous!! Loved every single bit of the experience and would definitely go back again!

We arrived around 9am, luckily got a table for 2 straight away> Smoked Fish Green Eggs Benedict with Avocado on side - fish was a bit too salty (for me). Where to get this green Hollandaise sauce? Loved the Superberry & Flaxseed smoothie;) great coffee☕️very cool & beautiful decor but the woven chairs were not comfortable at all🙄

Been to Rosie a few times. This place is always busy! The staff are friendly. The coffee is consistently good. If you are a coffee lover, this is the place to be.

Arrived at 12 today, was lucky to get a table when we got there. I love the interior of the restaurant, the colour coordination is very chic. The presentation of the food is 10/10 and the dishes are full of flavour. One thing we didn't like was we got so thirsty after the meal, not sure why?
TinaS
Visited this place a few times for brunch / lunch and each time they have provided me with great experience. It's also one of the restaurants owned by the Hipgroup; sister restaurants with Ortolana, Milse, St Heliers Bistro & Cafe, Takapuna Beach Cafe & Restaurant - so expect somewhat similar atmosphere which is classy and cuisines. They have a great selection of drinks - coffee, hot chocolate, wines, and freshly squeezed juices. I have tried their various dishes from main including chicken, lamb and they never fail to impress! Mind you, this place can be very very busy especially during weekend, last time we had to wait for at least 20 minutes for a table for 4!

This place is wonderful! In the upmarket suburb of Parnell, it makes a fantastic atmosphere. The place was full when we got there but there was a wait list thing going on where we gave them our names and phone numbers for them to call us when there was a table ready which was no problem as that wasn't even a 10 minute wait. <br/><br/>Decided to try out some of the cabinet food which was pretty good but the crowning glory was the grapefruit and elderflower sodas!! Dessert was also great - had a coffee infused eclair thing while my friend had a donut. Since it was our first time here, we asked the waitress for recommendations and I was very pleased with the service. Her customer service was impeccable and she really took the time to describe what each thing was and what we would possibly like, based on our tastes and an innate understanding of the intricate details of the menu.

Rosie has such a warm and relaxing vibe!<br/>The decor is super chic and quirky..<br/><br/>I brought my parents in for lunch to give them a cool Auckland dining experience and Rosie totally delivered. These out-of-towners were so impressed 😋<br/>The staff are all smiles - welcoming attentive and kind. Happy to be there and good at their job!<br/><br/>The food.. Omg. My dad and I had the butchers sausage coz I love breakfast at any time of the day. Served with potato hash, poached egg and a parsley sauce. Presentation 100 and it was absolutely delicious! I really liked the variety on the menu, light options and open sandwich options. They also had some cabinet options and stunning cakes and slices!<br/><br/>Over all I highly recommend and can't wait to come back and try more! 😍😍😍

minimalism taken to the next level. so minimalistic that even your meal portions are minimal. food is, of course not bad, but it is also not the hype in terms of 'bang for your buck'. On the plus side, a very cozy and bright environment.
Gentlepig
Love to look wealthy? Come on a weekday afternoon, where the riches are here gossiping and/or having money talks. Gentlepig was here with his colleague, and wow did we feel a million dollars.<br/><br/>I always give restaurants that use the freshest season ingredients a head start - Rosie, like it's cousins pluck their ingredients from their own garden and a quick glance at their menu shows that they don't keep to the same menu for long. <br/><br/>Gentlepig ordered the ceviche, and his colleague had the omelette with whitebait. Ceviche is notoriously hard to prepare perfectly - one small detail and the dish is gone, so I highly commend Rosie for nailing it. The omelette with whitebait is well seasoned and the egg is cooked perfectly, yet it misses a sense of excitement about the dish and you don't feel special with it in front of you.<br/><br/>Service is impeccable, and the coffee too is excellent. What more could you ask for from a fancy brunch?

Upper east side of Parnell. Very bougie haha!! Beautiful coffee. Food portion is tiny for the price. Taste is fantastic. Beautiful location for meeting friends and relatives.

NOTE: I came here in March 2015, so their menu may have changed.<br/><br/>I had heard a lot about this place through Instagram, and i had been wanting to go here for ages. Finally we did! We had to ring for a table on our way there, as they don't take bookings. At first we drove past the place because it had no sign. It just looked like a place on the corner with lots of people. We thought it had to be there. When we walked in, we had to wait a bit for our table to finish up. They offered us water while we were waiting, which was nice. the setting was like a clear glass open box, with wooden shutters. As we walked to our table, we passed two glass cabinets. One filled with desserts and pastries, and the other with sandwiches and rolls. Behind this was an open kitchen, so you could see everything happening.<br/><br/>When it came to ordering, i couldn't decide! They had so many nice looking egg dishes, but i just had eggs for breakfast. I ended up getting the market fish. It was tarakihi with cauliflower cream, horse radish, candied walnuts and lentils. the combination of the crispy skinned fish with the creamy sauce and lentils was just perfect! I got three decent sized pieces of fish and it cost $28. My family got the green Benedict with smoked fish, which looked nice. My Mum got the pulled pork tartine, which was like an open sandwich. She said it was nice, but a bit salty.<br/><br/>After our main we got offered the dessert menu, and of course i couldn't say no! I got the seasonal gelato plate because I had seen so many yummy pictures on Instagram. This consisted of three scoops of passionfruit gelato with walnuts, grilled peaches and marshmallows. I was a bit disappointed, as I wasn't too keen on the flavours ( I don't really like marshmallow). The pictures of the ones i saw were more berry, or chocolatey. But i guess i should of asked what the flavours were first. It was still nice and refreshing, but just a bit sweet for my liking. <br/>The others got the chocolate eclair and peach tart from the cabinet.<br/><br/>Overall I really enjoyed my dining experience here. I noticed that their menu listed basic meals, but when they came out, I was surprised with the other ingredients, and how they  incorporated them. Undersell, Over deliver! Good service, great food, and I like how they served my dessert in a deconstructed way! I'm also a fan of food being served on black plates! I don't know why, but it just makes it look better!

Been wanting to try Rosie's for ages, so when asked where I wanted to have my team farewell lunch, it had to be here. <br/><br/>Great atmosphere, bustling, lovely decor (very cool seats) and the staff were friendly and very helpful (some of us had never heard of 90% of the ingredients in the menu, so they had to do quite a bit of explaining!). <br/><br/>Rosie's has quite an extensive drinks menu - yummy sodas, smoothies, coffees and alcoholic drinks too. The food all looked exquisite, fresh and used a lot of trendy ingredients. Definitely a very hip place to eat at. Pun intended. <br/><br/>Most of us ordered the fish of the day and unanimously thought it was delicious, though it had a bit too much shrubbery and peas in it for me personally. My vegetarian friend ordered the smashed eggs with haloumi which she smashed down. Another workmate ordered the beef short rib which he really liked as well. <br/><br/>They also have delicious desserts on display, we tried almost all of them! The best was definitely the lemon meringue tart, salted caramel/chocolate layered cake and apple/white chocolate roulade.

Heard great things about Rosie and expected great things as it's part of the Hip group. I ordered the smashed herb eggs with halloumi which was FANTASTIC. Great flavours, the halloumi was cooked to my liking and the eggs were zesty and herby. Partner ordered the bone marrow and was told by the waiter to order a side of roast potatoes, as it was a small dish. The bone marrow was warm, rich and a bit weird for breakfast (it's actually a dinner entree) but my partner said it was the best breakfast he's had in a while. However, the roast potatoes weren't that flash as they were oily and not really roasted. They were a let down! Our coffees were strong and hot, which were perfect. I'm already planning my next visit.

Just wow! The brunch menu is delicious. The staff are even more fantastic. We had to wait for a table, but they gave us a nice sparkling water while we waited. Can't wait to go back soon. Sarah Forsyth #gidschallenge

Love this place, so warm and well decorated. The food is very well presented, ever dish will make you fell like its Xmas. Love the refreshing house made apple and thyme soda. Dishes recommend: broken eggs and halloumi cheese; freshly caught squid. Must try dessert: chocolate mousse. Definitely will go back there again, try to avoid lunch time if you don't want to wait in long queues.

Love this place ! The service is great and ambiance is A+<br/>The only thing for me is that it the food isn't quite to my taste. I've had the smashed herb egg halloumi dish which was nice but there were hard diced up pieces of sour and probably pickled carrot or raw pumpkin? It tastes like carrot but it only mentioned pumpkin so not sure. I felt like that really distracted from the dish. I've also had the market fish of tarakihi for dinner and didn't enjoy the vegetables with it and so it was rather untouched on my plate.<br/><br/>For lunch the drinks were interesting a bit steep on price but it's like that everywhere basicallyApple thyme - nice flavours are there interesting soda <br/>Jasmine elder flower cold brew specialty - couldn't taste much elderflower but it was yummy added a different depth of flavour to jasmine tea <br/><br/>I held a dinner here and it was really great they open til late everyday and I had mine on a Sunday. They even have me a little cake and candle to wish me a happy birthday ! I've heard good things about the ox bone marrow so will be back to try it out. In all this is a great place to go for brunch and really great to venture out to !

Went today to Rosie for breakfast as I had heard so much about this cafe. I had the crushed egg with pumpkin and haloumi.  The dish was absolutely awesome, the coffee superb and the service impeccable. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient.. Even though the cafe was packed our food arrived promptly. Only wish we had more time to enjoy the lovely food and ambiance.

Been here 3 times now. Service was excellent! However food was just okay. I went today again and order fried chicken with coleslaw. I was expecting pan fried chicken. What I got was deep fried chicken. 2 pieces at $32? I mean come on. Your standard Café food dining should not serve this. If I wanted this type of food I will go to KFC. Really disappointed. Thanks and I hope you do take this feed back.

Rosie is an opulent cafe that revels in gorgeous views of the Parnell rose gardens. Have to say though, Rosie is perhaps more hype than anything else. Drive past often and the place is always packed to the rafters. So with that in mind (as well as John Key's hair pulling shenanigans), gave this place a visit. <br/><br/>Taste: 3.5/5 The food is nice. The rib eye was probably the best from what we ordered, beautiful and tender. Gravy for the chicken too salty. Desserts bland. <br/>Service: 2/5 Staff wasn't very friendly, despite efforts on our part to be friendly<br/>Value: 3.5/5 Normal fine dining prices which was expected. However the fried chicken with slaw, a dish that closely resembled a two piece quarter pack from KFC, was priced at $30++. What is this, Wagyu chicken?<br/>Decor/Ambience: 5/5 Gorgeous interior and spatial flow from the dining area through to the kitchen in full view<br/>Overall: 3.5/5 Auckland has so many top notch restaurants. Rosie needs to up their game if they want to stay relevant<br/><br/>Tip: Would recommend maybe just coming on a sunny afternoon to enjoy the surroundings over a coffee

I dont understand the hype about Rosie. The food is nice but not so nice I would come rushing back. I had the muesli which was alright. I like that they give you sparkling water. Service wasn't very friendly.... I would be willing to come back to try another dish as I've heard such good things. Maybe I just didn't order the right thing.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch with Zoe Redden, great food, great service and comfy seats! Would return and recommend. The smashed eggs and mushroom+artichoke combo top notch

As a past student of Whitecliffe down the road, I used to come here all the time. <br/><br/>I love every single item on the menu. The roast potatoes are to die for, the green eggs are wonderful and their coffees are some of the best i've ever had. One of my favourite drinks was the Salted Caramel mocha (a twist on their salted caramel hot chocolate)<br/><br/>The staff are friendly and always smiling, very attentive and helpful if you have any concerns about the menu. <br/><br/>They give you free sparkling water which is a nice treat and it is superb being able to end your meal with one of their delicious sweet treats from inside the cabinet. Highly recommended.

We went here for breakfast on a rainy sunday. The service is great and the food is pretty good. Probably more on the expensive posh side but overall very satisfied. I ordered the smashed eggs and my husband ordered the sausage for breakfast. The coffee and fluffy arrived promptly.

Back at my favourite cafe once again. Service is great they top up my glass with sparkling water regularly and are always bright and cheerful. Changing it up this morning I went for Herbed eggs, halloumi, preserved lemon, peas. Delicious! 9/10 recommended.

Uniquely decorated little restaurant. From a few angles you get a view of the Sky Tower and the Metropolis.<br/><br/>All our dishes were really beautifully presented. Mozzarella entree, which worked as a dip, was a little too vinegary for my taste - overpowering the other flavours. The pork shoulder main with garlic potatoes as a side is worth trying though! Really beautifully cooked and presented.<br/><br/>One slightly annoying thing is that our table for two was silly close to the people next to us.

This have to be one of my favorite cafes! It wasn't very busy when we came here so we managed to be seated as soon as we were greeted. The staff at Rosie was friendly and professional. I loved the design of the interior - the open space gave a soft, and relaxed ambience. <br/><br/>We ordered a green leaf smoothie and two cappuccinos to start of. The smoothie tasted very clean, refreshing and not too bitter. It was perfect!<br/><br/>The meal portions were quite generous. We ordered the omelette with smoked fish, soft herbs, and caper salad. The smashed herbed eggs with halloumi, preserved lemon, and peas. And the mushrooms with jerusalem artichoke, poached egg and truffle powder. Everything tasted fresh and healthy. The mushrooms were delicious, and the poached egg was flawless! The omellette was cooked really well - it was one of the best omellettes I've tried, and the smoked fish just made it better! Although, I thought the toasts that were served with the smashed herbed eggs were a bit dry.<br/><br/>I am so glad I finally got to visit another great cafe by The Hip Group. Definitely coming back here soon!

J said it was always crowded. He had tried to come by with his wife, but could never get a table. Well, he was in luck, because I wasn't going to leave until we did dine in here. Who knows when else we'd get the chance? Oh, L, we will come back, for you, of course!

We've tried this lovely cafe for breakfast several times, and were lucky to have no wait time on both occasions. The staff are friendly and professional, and we were very happy with the service here. The decor has a nice balance of natural wood, stone floors,  comfy woven chairs and cheerful coloured ottomans.  This cafe is doggy friendly, and has seating outside if you wish to sit with your dog.<br/>We ordered the smoked fish omelette (generous portion), Granola and Sausage & Green Eggs, along with some great coffees and fresh juice.  <br/>Will def come back to try the lunch menu, or one of the delish cakes.
Winnie Luo
Busy and upbeat cafe!<br/><br/>Food was well done! Refreshing choices in the menu and coffee was absolutely divine! The only thing was that all they had was slightly sparkling water as they don't believe in tap water. Could be a plus for some people but no so much for me.<br/><br/>There are lots of tables in a not so big place so you are very close to the next table in all directions!<br/><br/>There will also be a little bit of a wait as this is a very popular/only cafe in the area! Will come back one day to taste some of their cabinet food!
Georgia Forde
The most amazing food and service! Everything was perfect. All the food we ordered was devine. The sodas and cacao smoothie was also delicious. Topped off by friendly and attentive waiters/waitress's! Will definitely be back!

Came here for brunch recently on a Sunday; the place was relatively busy but there was a table available right away. The interior is modern and sunny, and would be lovely on a summer morning. We ordered our meals, but unfortunately, I think there may have been a mix up or something, because we waited around 45 minutes for them to come out! People who came in after us got their meals before us, which was not good at all. When it did eventually come out, it was quite tasty and presented very nicely; there were lots of intricate flavours and textures that blended nicely together. However, the wait time ruined the experience a bit for me.<br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #challenge

A refurbished, friendly cafe. Yummy food and yummy fresh juices. I had a granola which was really nice with the rhubarb. My husband had the apple hot cakes. They were a bit too sweet. There was not enough texture in the meal and a bit too much apple going on. Yummy but nothing special... A bit of fresh fruit or creme fresh would have lifted the meal. My father in law had the mushrooms, although nice, they were a little salty. A little on the pricey side. But will still be going back.

My partner and I have been to Rosie twice for dinner and we have been thoroughly impressed both times. I am a big fan of the Hip Group eateries. Rosie is popular with the locals and foodies.<br/><br/>The menu has an impressive selection of locally sourced seasonal dishes. The last time I went I ordered the grilled sardines ($23) with a side of chargrilled baby gem with anchovy egg dressing ($7). The sardines were so flavoursome and unlike any other fish I had ever tasted. I would definitely go back again just for this dish. My partner ordered the lamb, pumpkin, almond milk and quince preserve ($29). The meat just melted in your mouth and everything was full of flavour. I definitely could not fault the food. <br/>The café is sophistically decorated with white walls, an open kitchen, woven brown chairs and a beautiful chandelier in the centre. It is really easy to find and there is lots of free parking which is always a bonus in Auckland. The staff were really friendly and always came to top up our sparkling water.<br/><br/>Best café in Parnell and one of the best cafes in Auckland - it’s worth visiting!

Had a lovely lunch here, smoked fish omelette and green field juice, very nice and healthy food, friendly and warm staff, will be coming again

Just enjoyed a delicious breakfast smoothie with ricotta and honey, and the smashed eggs with pumpkin purée. <br/>My brunch buddy had the Ox tongue and bone marrow which she said was also amazing! <br/>Great staff: friendly and attentive. Lovely space in the sun by the window. I will be going back!!

Rosie and shine everyone!!<br/><br/>This lovely place in parnell is like having a sunny fine dining experience brunch time style.. The Menu will challenge some people as there is offals here and offals there. Though i was tempted to try my favourite offals, we stick to our original plan try the simply humble, breakfast menu!<br/><br/>We had the mushroom dish with artichoke, the smoked fish omellete and the sausage of the day! The mushroom was really lovely nicely seasoned with a bit of acid though it had some truffle malto dextrine that I think is unnecessary it was still a nice mushroom to wake up to,the omellette is cooked a bit more than what we would have it "also please be careful with the scales" but it is nicely seasoned and the sausage which is lamb that day was nice with some hash and broccoli salad. We also had some take away desserts, good way to finish your lunch. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.<br/><br/>Did you know!!<br/>Milse, ortolana and the Store is Rosie's brothers, not surprised I had a good day brunch down there!!
Sophia
My partner and I enjoyed a delicious brunch at Rosie in Parnell earlier this week. As a big fan of Ortolana & Milse, I was very excited in anticipation to try another one of The Hip Group’s eateries.<br/><br/>Entering Rosie, I loved the soft, relaxed ambience in the cafe – it was spacious with large glass walls that gave a lovely open feel, letting in plenty of sunshine. The cafe featured white walls, an open kitchen, woven brown chairs, bright & colourful woven ottomans, and a beautiful chandelier in the centre.<br/><br/>My partner and I were seated at the very front of the cafe, in front of the window with lots of natural light. We started with two smoothies, Green Leaf and Chocolate & Coconut. The smoothies were perfection. They had the perfect consistency that was creamy but light, coupled with perfectly blended flavour. <br/><br/>The Green Leaf smoothie included lemon and superfood kale, and tasted very clean and refreshing. However, our favourite was the addictive Chocolate & Coconut, which was mild and sweet. I don’t usually love coconut, but it tasted amazing here mixed with chocolate. The smoothies were nicely garnished, too!<br/><br/>We ordered our mains while sharing charred carrots with goat dairy and honeycomb. The carrots had a good texture and were complimented well, especially by the honeycomb, though I feel it could've been better (having loved Ostro's honey butter carrots). Personally, I enjoyed them, and would've enjoyed them more if they were a bit more flavorsome, softer on the outside while crunchy on the inside, and coated more evenly with honey. It was still a very well cooked and enjoyable side dish. <br/><br/>My partner ordered chargrilled baby chicken w/ bulgur wheat & lime pickle yoghurt which he described as very tender and succulent, with a nicely roasted texture and herbs that complimented the flavour. Even at the time, I could tell how happy he was with his main by how eagerly he consumed the whole thing! I specifically remember him describing how delicious it was, while dipping his chicken in the lime pickle yoghurt and sharing some with me.<br/><br/>My main was the mushrooms w/ jerusalem artichoke, poached egg & truffle powder. Like everything else, it was perfection. I love mushrooms, and this mushroom dish was wonderfully cooked and flavoured – a generous mix of mushrooms and artichoke, which had a slightly grilled, salty flavour. I also enjoyed the flawless poached egg, sitting pretty in the centre of the dish. I absolutely loved this dish and couldn’t have been happier with it!<br/><br/>Overall, we had the most delicious and healthy brunch at Rosie. Rosie exceeded my expectations, and I am so glad I finally had the chance to give them a visit. The food and drinks at Rosie were nutritious and wholesome, and as always I admire The Hip Group’s focus on sustainability and fresh, natural produce that comes through in every meal.<br/><br/>Chocolate & coconut smoothie $7 <br/>Green leaf smoothie $7 <br/>Charred carrots, goat dairy, honeycomb $7 <br/>Mushrooms, jerusalem artichoke, poached egg, truffle powder $19 <br/>Chargrilled baby chicken, bulgur wheat, lime pickle yoghurt $32
Mueslilo
Came in yesterday with a friend eager to try Rosie as we had heard good things. Both massive muesli fans we were both excited to try this option. Muesli was very good although was unfortunate they had run out of fejoas, so had rubarb instead, which made the dish seem very sweet. Price was reasonable. Staff were friendly and service a good especially on a busy lunch time
Rebecca MacDonald
This was the first time I had been there since the update from 'Rosehip' and it's fantastic! We went for a family lunch today and we're able to book a table for 9.<br/>I had the pulled pork tartine which was delish, other meals were the short rib, squid, eggs bene and steak!<br/>After we sampled some of the sweet things, that hip group is known for. I had an amazing passion fruit meringue tart!
Petra Pearce
Rosie is our local cafe and we love visiting for breakfast and have also dined there for dinner. The staff are excellent and super-attentive, the food is delicious and we love the decor too. The only downside is that it's so busy - guess that's a measure of success though!
Lauren
Whenever I pass Rosie it is always busy, but luckily when we decided to try here we didn't have to wait for a table. I recommend dinning here during the week at around 11am because it isn't too busy. In saying that, the service is really fast despite only having 2 chefs and such a small kitchen. I wouldn't have minded waiting hours because the food was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning :)

Went here tonight for dessert! Love this place - love how everything is gourmet and quite special. Tried the handmade donuts, which was on point. Very light and not too sweet which was exactly what I was looking for 👌
Anthony Ellis
Went for dessert and had the cinnamon doughnuts. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing! Definitely recommended. The place is also really cool.

Been there yesterday, great service and friendly wait staff that knows how to recommend food and special for the day. Great recommendation and I love my brunch! I tried the Butchers Sausage, poached egg, agria hash, broccoli dish, it's divine! Then I ordered Smoothie of the day as recommend Coconut and Feijoa, it's refreshing! I like it when the wait staff know when to top up my water instead of some cafe you need to ask for it every time. Great service and good food, definitely will be there again!
Donna&Shane
For an experience with food that is different but excellent give this a try.... Annoying how places are getting popular in not accepting bookings but you can come here anytime and order kitchen doesn't close at 2! Service is excellent. Desserts abut too unusual but the soda drinks are yum.
Nidhi
All the reviews about Rosie have been true. Its a cute little cafe where food is amazing. The menu is different from the other cafes and it is very filling. The price isn't too bad actually. Very well worth for the quantity. The staff were also so friendly. Because they are so busy they have a seating/waiting area outside so you dont have to stand and wait to get a table. Would definitely go there again.

Had brunch today. Great service. We were well looked after. Nice coffee. Served at the right temperature, cause this is one thing I've found lacking at other good cafes .very efficient we were in an hour in an hour inspite of the place being choca. Never felt rushed. We had the egg bene with Pancetta. Very fresh. Beautiful egg. Loved the green sauce on it. Bread was just right. Hard enough to hold the eggs n sauce but soft enough to be cut easily with a knife. Also had the sausages dish. Juicy beautiful sausages. Will go back for them sausages. Also had a cinnamon rolls usually not a fan of cinnamon cause it can be overpowering. But this roll was just right. Hint of cinnamon. The Macaron was a bit of a let down. A bit hard I felt. Ended it with another beautiful coffee. See you next weekend hopefully.

Only go to this cafe outside of the lunch rush if you are wanting a table quick! Been here twice, once at 12pm and had to wait over half an hour for a table and the other time early in the morning. <br/>Both times I have ordered the omelette which is delicious! I wouldn't order anything else...<br/>Last time I went, I ordered two piccolos, first one was so average, was incredibly bitter and the waitress had spilt some of it on the way over. With that being said, the second one was much better. <br/><br/>Will be back!
Garry Graham
Took my wife for lunch here on Anzac Day. The service is very good and the staff are friendly. I had pork belly and my wife had crayfish sausage. Unfortunately the food is nicely presented but tasteless. My pork belly was 70% fat and not much of it. My wife couldn't taste any crayfish in her sausage and neither could I when I sampled a bit.<br/>The coffee was good.
Girlygirl
Dinner Saturday night with friends blue cod fish of the day was outstanding, passion fruit meringue tart for dessert spectacular. Recommend popping in for a meal whenever you're in the neighbourhood or even when you're not ???
Laura Hunt
I was excited to finally be able to try this place after having it on my to do list for a while now. <br/>I can't fault the service, everyone was very friendly and informative about their food and what was in it. The cafe itself also gave a really nice feeling, the decor was simple and it was buzzing with people - but we were still able to sit comfortably and engage in conversation. <br/>What really let Rosie down for me was the food. Two of us got the butchers sausage and the other got the omelette with smoked fish. The amount salt in both these dishes was overwhelming to the point they were unpleasant. It was almost like each component of the dish had been lathered in it. <br/>This really ruined the experience for myself and the people I was with. Despite the ambience of Rosie and there being other things on the menu that do appeal to me, unfortunately I'm not overly inspired to return based on this experience.
Amy @ My Dining Journey
Surprise surprise, the Hip Group did it again with success at Rosie. The full dining room is a clear indication of its popularity and the friendly and helpful staff made dining at Rosie a delightful experience. They are open from morning to night; would like to see how they execute their dinner! Bookings are usually not taken, so go early or risk waiting for a table!

The best thing about this place was we were seated immediately and offered mineral water on a hot Auckland summers day. It goes downhill from there. One of our 5 or 6 waiters receommended the clams which were fresh from the ocean that very morning. So we both went with that option and 2 glasses of riesling to wash it down with. The clams arrived luke warm and at least 3 of the shells in my bowl were broken leaving shell throughout the broth. The dish was mediocre and Ive had better shelffish dishes at the local pub. Secondly we had to ask for the wine as it came 10 mins later....so much for enjoying our dish with a lovely fresh riesling. The waiter who came to collect our plates asked us if we had enjoyed and my American friend explained that in the states they serve big buckets of clams as a staple. This obviously went well over is head as he crapped on about how good the seafood was here (he was a foreigner to boot) and alot of toff and piffle about local cuisine that he did not know anything about. We let him rave on as it was clear there was no shutting him up and he was far less interested about our expereince with the meal. Great venue, service was appaling (what is up with the whole segregation of waiters and the guys who deliver food from kitchen?) Can they just get one waiter who tends to the table instead of different waiters and servers popping up? Food overpriced and over rated. And who gives a toss if the PM or any of the B listers from Parnell are eating there.

When you are awarded the best cafe of the year, expectations get pretty high. We've decided to visit today and we were not disappoint - from attentive staff to immaculately prepared food, everything was just the way it should. Prices are reasonable - $19 for mains is fantastic for Parnell location. We'll be back for sure ;)

Easy to find, lots of parking. Quite different though, as it's situated away from the busy Parnell Rise. Rosie is sophisticatedly decorated, and although the cafe isn't too large in area, they still managed to fit quite a lot of tables in!<br/><br/>I ordered the omelette and my friend chose one of the green eggs benedicts. Both were yum! I would have to say that it was one of the best omelettes I've ever had, and the smoked fish in it just made it that much better. The jasmine and elderflower is a must try too!

Cute little cafe, offered blankets when customers are cold. Had an awesome experience here and have returned a few times and been impressed more every time. Well worth your money and coffee is superb! Thanks, Sue

Another excellent visit this morning to this favourite cafe. Service as always incredibly professional, friendly and low key. The gold standard in cafes that others should take note of and emulate.<br/><br/>We'll be back!

You'll recognise Rosie as another Hip Group establishment with its synonymous menu featuring a list of posh ingredients and contemporary, sophisticated decour. The cafe throws elegant meets playful into the mix with a beautiful chandelier expansing the roof while colourful ottoman-like croquet stools that are surprisingly comfy are scattered around the room. Like the other establishments, the waiters are fabulously professional, matchy-matchy - this time in sky blue aprons and seem irrationally pleasant 24/7 (seriously where do they get these people from). For brunch today I was tempted by the green eggs Benedict. I was intrigued by the idea of a green hollandaise and I was impressed; it still tasted good and healthier than the normal sauce while complimenting the delicious, crispy pancetta. I couldn't decide what juice I wanted so our waiter suggested a surprise; I enjoyed the shrouded mystery trying to work out what fruits I was consuming. However there were a couple mishaps with our brunch; my friend found a small piece of egg shell in her meal and ours both came out a tad not warm enough.<br/><br/>For more reviews around Auckland follow @adl_taste_akl on Instagram!

A lovely little cafe with good ambiance. Had visited a few months ago for lunch and had ordered the eggs benedict with smoked fish, the market fish, and cos lettuce. Borge the eggs benedict and lettuce was very nice, with a different twist on both dishes. We were a bit disappointed when the market fish came out with the portion be much smaller than the benedict, costing more as well. <br/>Rosie is a nice place for meetings as well as dates, however will not make the out of our way trip
UltimateOmNoms
As with any Hip Group eatery, you’ll recognise Rosie by the contemporary decor and clean lines that attract young people for being effortlessly chic. If you’re like me and you love Ortolana, you’ll love the softer and more relaxed atmosphere here. There’s detail in everything! If I could take something home, I’d go for the woven brown chairs that on one hand are beautiful and elegant, but are firm and practical enough to sit and eat on.<br/><br/>With an open kitchen stretched across the front, it gives you the illusion that you had walked into someone’s elaborate dining room with a beautiful chandelier in the middle. Cabinet displays full of beautiful desserts lie across the front and it makes me want to come back to Rosie during the day to experience the cafe culture.<br/><br/>Like other menus found at other Hip Group eateries, the menu almost looks like a shopping list, which to the undiscerning eye – can look like a jumble of ingredients. For some reason, you’ll feel assured that the chef has a purpose for throwing the bunch of uncommon ingredients together. This can be refreshing, it can also put people out of their comfort zone – not knowing exactly what to expect out of the kitchen!<br/><br/>The lamb was beautiful and melted in my mouth. Even with the pieces sprawled across the plate artistically, you actually get a lot of meat on the menu. My only gripe was that the sauce was bit sour and overpowered the natural sweetness of the lamb.<br/><br/>The boys ordered “spatchcock” in an attempt to be adventurous to try something unfamiliar. Which turned out to be chicken. Boys being boys, they joked about it looking like KFC chicken on a plate, but so much more succulent and without the grease. That’s a tick!<br/><br/>Be warned, the dessert sizes are big! If you’re already full from the meal and crave something sweet, I would opt for something from the cabinet instead. The combination of flavours were creative and the promised “celery root” adorned the top of the brulee. It reminds me of the dried persimmon I used to make at home – sweet and chewy.<br/><br/>Away from the central buzz in Parnell, it makes for easy meet and eat. I’m a fan of dining places that serve fresh and contemporary food. A place where you can sit back and relax after a day’s hard work without going through the pulse of the city hub. One visit isn’t enough to satisfy – I’ll be back during the day to try more!

Rosie is the perfect combination of great food, delightful staff and amazing decor in a central Auckland location.  The menu is synonymous with other Hip Group establishments including an impressive selection of house-made sodas, juices, smoothies, All Press coffee and locally sourced seasonal dishes.  The brunch menu consists the usual fare with a few unusual twists such as eggs benedict with a green hollandaise sauce.  The cabinet food on offer is highly tempting with sandwiches, sweet treats and colourful macarons to name a few.<br/><br/>Service is friendly and pleasant but oh-so-professional making Rosie a pleasure to visit.  It does get busy but there is an efficient wait-list system.  The interior is relaxed with funky colourful crochet ottoman-style stools, long wicker-like benches, unique light fittings and a mix of wood, and granite with a cleverly lined ceiling made up of white shutters.  Rosie is truly deserving of its number one ranking in the Metro Top 50 café list.

Had tea at this lovely place last Sunday and enjoyed it very much. The place is modern looking and cozy. The first thing I noticed was their colorful chairs, they look cool and very nice to sit on. <br/>Food was awesome. And the tea and hot choco were divine. I loved the ox tongue too! The desserts were really nice too! We ate the lemon meringue and chocolate cake. <br/>Will be back again for more. That's for sure! Rosie is in our fave list now. <br/>

Wonderful milkshakes, good service and great food. The food is relatively pricey for what it is (serving size) but the flavours are delicious. I am very likely to visit Rosie again sometime soon.

Pretty good coffee, attentive service and better-than-average food. I had the popular mushrooms + poached egg ... I wish I went for a couple of sides (portions were pretty small).  My meal looked pretty lonely at the end of the day! Really busy wee cafe, so make sure you go early.

Stellar food and service at Rosie. The coffee was superb and we each got the mushroom served with a poached egg (forgot what it was called) with a side of bacon and roast potatoes. The dessert in the end was to die for, my rhubarb pear tart, while small, was pure indulgence. All this was coupled by super welcoming staff and finely tuned service. <br/><br/>This is brunch at its absolute finest. Well done to Rosie and the Hip Group.

Having replaced Parnell’s iconic Rosehip Cafe at the Gladstone Rd junction, Rosie was buzzing with customers on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It’s one of those places that I’m not quite sure how to categorize; it’s described as a cafe in most reviews, yet it mostly serves courses such as lamb, short rib, pork collar, market fish and spatchcock (butterflied chicken) – not exactly standard cafe fare.<br/><br/>As is the norm for other places owned by the Hip Group (Ortolana, The Store, Takapuna Beach Cafe, etc), Rosie’s menu varies according to the availability of produce at their farm. At the time that we went (a couple of months ago) we had the pork collar with green apple salsa verde, lamb with diced tomatoes, and a side of grilled radish. Both of the meats came beautifully presented, and were tender and juicy, with just the right amount of seasoning. However, neither of us was a big fan of the large grains that came with our meat, although that is likely to just be an issue of personal preference.<br/><br/>We tried, also, their dessert of figs with honeycomb, cheese and charcoal biscuits. It didn’t stand out much, at least not in comparison to the Milse desserts available at the counter. As is to be expected from a Hip Group branch, the service was impeccable, the decor tasteful, and the opening hours long – Rosie is open from 6.30am to 10pm, which is a welcome rarity in Auckland’s dining scene.<br/><br/>They are slightly more pricey than sister bistro Ortolana, with their mains going for around $25. The dishes are still decent value for money, though, especially in consideration of how well the meat was prepared.

Rosie is another wonderful cafe from The Hip Group. The menu follows similar suit to their other eateries, with breakfast and lunch options presented beautifully. <br/><br/>I have actually come twice now and the food hasn't disappointed. The two top pics are actually the same dish, though mine on the right is no egg but with mushrooms -- eek as i don't like eggs. The one on the left also has the sauce on the side. They are the beef brisket with potato galette. Absoultly delicious, great cooking temperature and both $18 - great value for money. I was def feeling stuffed after that. One downside that bothered me - it was served in a bowl! I realise that these are the "in trends" but its a pain and inconvenient. Serve my dish on a plate please.<br/><br/>The pulled beef tartine below - also $18 was not really value for money. Its a a shame because it actually tasted really nice. Great texture and flavour but I was left still hungry. I ordered this when they first opened so the dish may have improved in size - not sure? Dessert was great. I don't normally like cinnamon but i would recommend this sponge as it isn't over powering in flavour. One other improvement I think is the smoothie may need more malt - you wouldn't know its malt and honey otherwise. <br/><br/>Overall service was attentive and friendly. Great warm atmosphere and beautiful decor. Btw love their open kitchen! Sorry forgot to take photos of the decor - too busy chatting away<br/><br/>Rating<br/>Food: 9/10<br/>Service: 9/10<br/>Value for Money: Good
Amy @ My Dining Journey
A new addition to the Metro Top 50 Restaurants for 2014, Rosie is created by Scott Brown and Jackie Grant (aka the Hip Group) and is an incarnation of the former cafe Rosehip which sat at the same spot. With a similar menu like Ortolana where fresh ingredients and local produce are their top priority, Rosie is a popular eatery for the locals. Wanting to give this place a try after reading reviews online, my friends and I stopped by for lunch on Saturday.<br/><br/>In the mood for eggs, I decided to try their smoked fish omelette with capers and soft herbs. The salty caper salad replaced the need for any addition of salt and the smoked fish incorporated a light smokey element into the fluffy omelette. My dining companions both enjoyed their green egg benedict with kale and a mushroom, pancetta and poached eggs combination which was finished off with a truffled soubaise. The only complaint amongst the table was the bread served with the benedict. It was bland and boring, rather disappointing.<br/><br/>Surprise surprise, the Hip Group did it again with success at Rosie. The full dining room is a clear indication of its popularity and the friendly and helpful staff made dining at Rosie a delightful experience. They are open from morning to night; would like to see how they execute their dinner! Bookings are usually not taken, so go early or risk waiting for a table!
Taste
Went there lunch and it's the first time. Staff were delightful. They were busy all the time and I waited 15 mins to get a table. The waitress passed me water while I was waiting. Service was very good, and food was well presented and tasty. But I saw a waitress without uniform stir the lavender tea with her finger. This made me feel really disgusted and I was lucky not the one who ordered that cup of tea. As a nice cafe, this shouldn't happen. I will be back but definitely not order tea.

Went for the first time since it reopened in April.<br/>Without doubt one of the best meals I have ever had. The imagination that has gone into the entrees is amazing, with such delights as parons's nose, ox tongue and bone marrow. My spatchcock and barley main was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Can't wait to go back. The staff are delightful. <br/>Only downside is you cannot book and there is nowhere to wait for a table. We headed to The Paddington for a drink and they rang us when a table was available. No big deal but perhaps something to work on. Left a tip which is unusual me.

Pompous and precious - will not be visiting again.<br/>Had to wait to be seated and were placed at a very nice table in the sunny window. Just settled in and were asked to move because a woman and her son (approx 10yrs old) apparently had decided that they wanted to sit there and for some reason were of more value to the cafe than us, so we shifted. <br/>The selection of sweet treats in the cabinet was very disappointing - and the coffee average.<br/>We were given glasses of sparkling water without being asked - plain tap water would have been great.<br/>Very noisy, hard to hear any conversation, and in the end we were only too happy to leave and we'll be sticking to our regular friendly Mt Eden haunts.<br/>On the plus side, the light fitting in the cafe is gorgeous.

A group of 6 of us had dinner at this crowded, noisy restaurant recently. The food was good, the service reasonable but I thought it was expensive for what we had.

Went to the new Rose Hip in Parnell today...coffee bloody awful...sorry guys...you were busy but I know a bad coffee when I taste one... it was really bitter.....we were going to stay for breakfast however didn't want to take the risk.

Love the new fit out. Same great service. <br/>Please don't change your name to " Rosie " - it's a bit blue rinse isn't it ? Plus you can't very well say " I'll meet you at Rosie " ... It's Creepy. <br/>Stick with the hip!

This is a fav spot for sunny weekends. The location is great, not far but peaceful. The prices are slightly high but we feel its worth it. They have their own farm and the food is always fresh. In terms of coffee they are one of the better cafes around serving Allpress.

Don't try the scrambled eggs, they are made with olive oil, not just a dash then olive oil must be poured over the top.<br/>A greasy, going brown eggs on toast, yuck they are still sitting on my stomach.<br/>That is not how scrambled eggs should be cooked, they should be yellow and golden , not glistening in oil and verging on being brown in colour.<br/>How come a manager, chef or wait-person hasn't commented about these, I would state they would be the worst I have ever eaten.<br/>Great service, shame about some of the food.

popped in there for lunch after visiting the rose garden.<br/><br/>Took my wife and daughter who are a bit picky. However 2 x egs benedict and 1 x big grill later we all left happy. Great service, good food and a nice experience<br/><br/>Special thanks to the lovely waiters - never had to ask for a thing - thanks guys :)

I LOVE Rosehip Cafe! the staff are very friendly, attentive and efficient. The food is amazing and fresh and they make a wicked old fashioned lemonade. To top it all off it's in a lovely location - nice and close to the rose gardens making it perfect for a post meal walk off! My only wish is that the kitchen stayed open longer in the afternoon. Rosehip cafe has to be one of my favourites in Auckland and it won't disapoint!

March 2012 This is such a popular cafe that at times it is impossible to find a place to sit! Once you are in the coffee is superb!<br/><br/>June 2013 We returned here today. The coffee was served hot (just as I like it), and with a smile. We arrived at just after 11am - in between the breakfast and lunch crowd, so finding a seat wasn't a problem. Very pleasant.

An unsuspecting venue and location - a cafe at the side of Gladstone Road. However the food was delicious, interesting and even surprising! Service was good, friendly and efficient. No wonder it's packed full at lunchtime mid-week!

Delicious...very good menu. Lovely food, excellent coffee. Service is great. Crowd is a mix, mostly older patrons. That's okay! It's Parnell after all.

We discovered this place a month ago after being regulars at Kohi Road Cafe and Takapuna beach cafe over the last 6 months and found out the same owners had another cafe in Parnell via their website. It really is such a beautiful location, residential and near the rose gardens. Most importantly, the coffee is amazing. We have soy lattes and soy cappucinos and they really are probably the best in the world...Food is great too, I prefer the Bruschetta with No29 at their Kohi branch though which they don't offer here but I generally order their delicious banana or ginger loaf's, food is always consistently A grade.<br/><br/>Highly recommended.

I think this is overall one of the best cafes in Auckland. The location is beautiful and it always seems to be sunny and warm there somehow. The food is good, service is good and coffee is good. Can't ask for much more than that...
