Review Archie's Restaurant And Pizzeria - Auckland Central

Our go to & favourite place for Italian pizza and pasta for many many years. The menu is extensive, food is consistently good, toppings on the wood fired pizza is generous, and there is plenty of seating indoors and outside. Archie,, the Italian owner is always there which is a testament to how hardworking he is & the quality of the food and service they provide.

Hi All, we went to Archie's Restaurant 30/11/2023. The first time we were here for dinner, the pizza and pasta were super nice, the boss and workers were friendly , super good and fast service. Price is accepted because the food is worth that price. 5 starts for all. Thank you.

Perhaps the second best pizza I ever had. Pasta was delicious and so did lamb cutlets. A Sunday afternoon lunch when you feel like some wood-fired pizza and keen to travel 24kms for it. Believe me it won’t disappoint you. Nice weather and you approach restaurant and owner welcomes you with greetings. Waitress provide you with menu and water, seems little unwelcoming but this can be ignored. You go through intense menu on pizzas and pastas. You also don’t want to offend staff and owner with unusual request about their food. However you still ask your waitress about a mix and match of pasta sauce and meat and she advised it can be done. Food arrives pretty quick and it turns out to be soooo delicious. Everything on table is exceptionally good. You again encounter the same waitress which is more comfortable now and more helpful. When you done and you couldn’t finish you ask for doggy bag and some other Waitress and she helped you for it and pack it very nicely. Price was not toooo bad as compare to other places. 5 starts to everything including service…keep it up 👍🏽

Wonderful Italian restaurant. Atmosphere is really nice and the food was so tasty. Only thing I would mention is that the bruschetta needed some garlic. Waitresses were so attentive and I would definitely return.

Arrived quite late but the kitchen was still open! Absolutely delicious ricotta filled tortelloni in creamy lemon suave with mushrooms. My workmate had the eye fillet and said it was cooked beautifully. Definitely recommend. Friendly, busy atmosphere (for a Monday night), it was buzzing. Located across from our motel so very handy.

This restaurant is a culinary haven for pasta and pizza enthusiasts. The spaghetti and pizza here are nothing short of amazing. The spaghetti is perfectly al dente, and the rich tomato sauce is a burst of flavor in every bite. The pizza is a slice of heaven, with a crispy thin crust, fresh toppings, and bubbling cheese that's simply irresistible. Whether you're a fan of classic Margherita or adventurous with unique toppings, this place has it all. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff make it a delightful dining experience. For a taste of Italy in every bite, this restaurant is a must-visit. Recommend to take a reservation in advance cause it's always full of people.

Very nice pizza and pasta would definitely recommend. I remember coming here a couple of years ago and the food has not changed always a good place to stop by and eat 😁

Cosy corner restaurant. The manager is very attentive and looks after all the customers - we had a couple of kids at our table where we were surprised they were each given a cup of fluffy and a little bit of dough to play with which was super nice of them. The pasta dishes are quite large so great if you're sharing along with the pizzas. The only negative critique was that the tomato sauce in the pasta was a little salty and got saltier as you keep eating. I thought it was just me as we ordered the pasta with bacon but we saw someone at another table tell the waitress they were only taking away the leftover pizza because the pasta was salty. Would still return to try other dishes and for the great service in general.

Great food, very good portion, good service (great staff and fast on serving the food), good atmosphere, even though am a bit surprised that there were a lot of people on the week night. Highly recommended!

I ordered Prawn Linguini, which is relatively expensive compared to other places in Auckland. I must say the quality of ingredients is good and tasted fresh. I have ordered here twice, but for my Indian palettes, Italian food seems so bland. I can't understand the hype for Italian food. However, it seems so addictive even though it is bland in taste. The Prawn Linguini which I ordered was fresh, addictive, filling and bland at the same time. I will try another item once again. The customer service and atmosphere is also good. However, it is a very busy restaurant during peak hours. A customer may have to wait for their food, but it's worth it.

Beautiful service, top wine and excellent food! Thank you Alessandro and team

Second time eating Archie’s and my goodness they do not disappoint! Amazing wood fires pizza and pasta! I mean look at that cream cheese ratio! Great customer service and on time delivery! Thanks team!
Kritika
Really yum pizzas and pasta..loved the desserts too! Best service and super friendly staff! Been here too many times and always keen for another great night at Archie’s 😀

Best seafood risotto I’ve ever had. There’re fish, scallops, mussels, squids and prawns inside the tasty risotto.

I love Archies! I have eaten here many times and every time is great. Friendly service, delicious food and wonderful vibe! The pizza and pasta are amazing. The salmon dish is my fav!
Stella Lin
Their pasta, seafood salad and lamb shank are very good! Worth trying. But risotto is a bit watery.

PERFECTION! Everything I have tried from here is 10/10 no fault! Every dish is delicious! My favourite being the aubergine and leek filled tortellini, the pene carbonara and the Margherita pizza
The Poor Foodie
My friend and I were not too hungry so we only got a pizza and two drinks for a snack before movie. The Al Salmone was absolutely delicious! I had the longest cheese pull from the pizza and the salmon was really fresh. Loved the cream cheese underneath the salmon also. It was a busy restaurant and sometimes you may need to wait a bit to be seated

Went on Monday and damn it was busy!! Staff was really attentive and helpful and service was prompt.I ordered fettuccine polo pasta which was something different and I loved it, it was so creamy and chicken was rightly tendered, I still can’t forget the taste , also ordered pollo e pesto pizza which was really nice with that pesto toppings and lastly ordered the lamb cutlets with mash Kumara and salad, it was disappointing bcoz lamb had no taste and was half cooked, though other part of the plate like mashed kumara and fresh leaves were delight to eat, I would definitely recommend this place and surely come back but during lunch hours😆
Renie
Always the go to for a nice pizza and pasta! The staff are very friendly :)

My sister and I went for lunch on saturday and had the garlic pizza with their balsamic vinegar on the side (which was the best thing to have on a nice saturday), spaghetti bolognese and the creamy chicken and mushroom pasta. The food was absolutely heart warming. Truly a must visit! Friendly and attentive staff members. Will definitely come again!
#fatlyfe
Food drinks games and bowling! Can u really go wrong..... we ordered the hot dogs literally all of them on the menu the chicken one was probably better than the American one. Ordered the combos and they came in a pink Cadillac 😍😍 soooo creative! We also had a ton of cocktails the schapps one would be my favourite!! To get the most tickets try the sack game, ball in the hole game (hole in the wall) or the ring game! I think I’m addicted 😳😳

The food was so good and the price is okay. Lunch menu was 18 dollars. Could have been cheaper but it was good amount of food for that price. We went in a big group and the wait time for food was short. Got our food within 15 mins. The service was fairly good.

Mamma Mia pizzeria!!! (How do I know you read that in an Italian accent 😉). If you know Archie’s , you know that their food is SICK. I ordered their seafood fettuccine and I don’t regret it. The food is so good here, fresh , delicious , with lots of butter and olive oil goodness. This is just a definite safe bet for a good meal. The atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon is also amazing. The owner walks around , greeting all the customers and is extremely good with kids. If you didn’t know the kids get raw dough to play with while the parents can have a nice chat. This joint is always busy so you should probably call for a booking rather than miss out the food. One of the f*cking best Italian places. 💦 @dailydoseofeats for other instagram reviews

Archie's is a bustling little restaurant tucked away in Newmarket offering fantastically authentic Italian food. This is a lovely little gem with easy food that makes your mouth water. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for some of the best Italian food in Auckland.<br/><br/>The service here is good, there is nothing to complain about here. This is very good considering how busy they do get, so the staff here do do a fantastic job to make things run at a good pace. The staff a very friendly and you definitely feel well looked after. <br/><br/>The aesthetic and condition of the place is unfortunately why I couldn't give it five stars. The inside feels a bit tired and dark. Also our table was rather uneven and some of the chairs had definitely seen better days, as they possessed some rather loose legs and backs. The table that we were put at was too small as well for four people. I think if you do get to go here, sitting outside might be a better option. Overall, the interior doesn't take too much away from the experience and definitely not the food. <br/><br/>The food here was the real stand out! It was awesome authentic Italian food full of flavour and wonderfully simple. I got the seafood pasta, which was simply divine. The pizzas also looked fantastic and I definitely will be eyeing one of them for next time. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the seafood delicious. The menu is full of amazing options, so you will have to go back to try more. There are also alternatives for any gluten free individuals as most things can be adjusted or substituted.<br/><br/>Overall despite the tired interior and some malfunctioning chairs this is a fantastic place and shouldn't be overlooked. The food is fantastic, it is always busy and the staff are lovely.

Both my boyfriend and I were craving Italian and decided to try out Archies on a busy Friday night. When we got there, it was already pretty full (around 6:15 pm) but they managed to squeeze us in outside with the outdoor heaters. The menu had difficult choices, I was personally deciding between pasta or pizza but decided on pizza. We got the garlic pizza bread as a starter and the Mediterraneo pizza as our main. For two people, the portion was massive (maybe a bit too much) and extremely affordable ($34 for a meal that could easily feed 3 people). <br/><br/>The garlic pizza bread was delicious, it was crispy and hot when it arrived. The pizza bread was so garlicky and fragrant tasting with visible pieces of garlic and you could clearly see in the photo how crunchy looking it is. They cut the pizza into 8 pieces and it was only $8.50 so it is definitely affordable and could be easily shared. The main was the Mediterraneo, containing fresh tomatoes, pancetta, pecorino, mozzarella and rosemary. The pizza was cooked beautifully and massive as well. The saltiness and fattiness of the pancetta blended in so well with the sweet, freshly sliced tomatoes, which cut down the fattiness a bit. The cheese was so stringy as well, adding more flavour into the pizza. For $25.50, which may seem expensive at first, the portion size and fresh ingredients in the pizza make up for it.<br/><br/>I highly recommend Archies if you're craving good Italian food with good service. Food was authentic with huge portion at an affordable price! Can't wait to come back to try the pasta.

Food was great, came a bit slower than expected, but fine. <br/><br/>The service on the other hand, was atrocious. Rude and impatient waiters made our experience unbearable. I always thought requesting a water was simple, but according to the young waiter, it was a mammoth task. His reaction included and eye roll and something muttered under his breath. <br/><br/>Sort your staffs attitude out, or lose customers. It’s not always about the food - people come for an experience.

We came here on a bustling Wednesday night and were seated in the covered outdoor area. <br/><br/>We ordered an Alla Margarita Pizza and Penne Polo Fumigato. I would have to say that this pizza is probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. I got the longest cheese pull I’ve ever experienced taking my first slice. Every single bite was juicy and cheesy, I loved the bites where I would get tomato as well as the bocconcini as I would taste the freshness from the tomato but also creaminess from the cheese. Even the crust was amazing, fragrant from the olive oil and perfectly crunchy.<br/><br/>The pasta was aromatic and had a great flavour with tender smoked chicken pieces.<br/><br/>Service was friendly and efficient. Relaxing atmosphere to dine in.

Archie’s has been here forever and is my all time favorite restaurant in New Market since uni when each dish was only $14. Nothing has changed since then. <br/><br/>I don’t particularly eat pizza and pasta that often, but when I do, I eat Archie’s. <br/><br/>The pizza is actually full of substance ! <br/>It’s not just dough and tomato sauce and bits of cheese. The base is perfectly cooked in the firewood oven; crust is crispy and the middle is soft underneath all the toppings. Super duper juicy and greasy in a good way. Very filling. They give you balsamic sauce, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, and peperoncino flakes to go on the pizza so you can add more flavors. <br/><br/>Also.. the seafood pasta !! Ah... the best seafood pasta ever. Highly recommend :)

We came here for the first time over the weekend for lunch and the restaurant was so busy that it was at full capacity! Not sure if it was because of Father’s Day or it was busy in general because the food is that good!<br/><br/>My husband ordered two pizzas the Pollo e Pesto and Alla Margherita, I ordered the Fettuccine Polo. Personally the Pollo e Pesto was my favourite it was packed full of flavour, a pizza I would never have ordered as I’m not a big pesto fan. The Alla Margherita was a bit different it had fresh tomatoes instead of passata (sieved tomatoes) like an authentic Margherita does. Last but not least the Fettucine Polo was good it was creamy and had a good amount of garlic flavour but it did lack a bit of salt which could easily be rectified. <br/><br/>Overall it was a great spot for lunch and great vibes. They also gave my daughter some pizza dough to play with to keep her occupied while we waited for our meal.
Akramaziz95
The place is very crowded .....because of the large number of people, chairs and table that can makes you feel upset and there is no ventilation enough, besides that you feel like a very noise place and inconvenience around you.<br/>

Margherita pizza your location 2️⃣: Archies Pizzeria, Newmarket. <br/><br/>This little place is situated in a nice and cozy lane of small eateries. With ample indoor and outdoor seats, you'll find your perfect table anywhere. <br/><br/>The customer service was great for a very busy period and day, lunch time on fathers day! We appreciated the availability of staff during this time and the great atmosphere that the pizzeria had. Big props to the owner for his great positive energy and character that he exuded! You'll be sure to love him 👍<br/><br/>As you know, we came here for the Alla Margherita. Archie’s had their own take on the Margherita which didn’t include passata (sieved tomatoes) but opted fresh tomato slices, parmesan, and a generous amount of basil. The crust had a great crunch, thin, and carried the ingredients well. I did enjoy the crust but did miss the extra savouriness passata gives compared to fresh tomatoes. <br/><br/>We also enjoyed the Pollo e Pesto (chicken with pesto) and a Fettuccine Pollo. The Pollo e Pesto was an awesome pizza. Everything worked so well together that my wife Sueshi said it’s the best pizza she ever had! The Fettucine Pollo was great aswell. Creamy, garlicky, pasta done right, chicken nice and tender with mushrooms to top it off. It did lack some salt for us but that could be remedied by adding more salt, or maybe not eating so many different things at once!<br/><br/>I highly recommend heading to Archie’s for your wood fired pizza fix.<br/><br/>They even gave our daughter some pizza dough to play with! That was a great gesture and she was very happy to have ‘play-doh’ to play with while she waited for our pizza.

Italian paradise: personally I would rate the best risotto I had! I tried sautéed prawn risotto, oh so perfect. Also that yummy prosciutto bruschetta must try.. and their fresh pizzas so simple yet so delicious. Will definitely go back
Food?
Amazing food, service is great. Gave me a new appreciation for italian food. Pizza is cooked in a stone oven, quality of pastas were very high.

Came here for a birthday lunch with 15 or so friends. The atmosphere was cheerful and the interior was really quite authentic, with the bustling waiters/waitresses and the large pizza oven on for show. Their service was great for such a busy lunch period. Food didn't take too long considering how large our group was. I ordered a penne pollo: it was a big portion! The pasta was al dente, the sauce was super creamy and rich, and the chicken was more tender than I expected. It was seasoned well, especially the chicken and mushrooms.<br/>In the end, they gave a complementary birthday tiramisu complete with candle and a song, very cute 😋

Very authentic Italian food and all the meals are full of flavors. Love the pasta, risotto, pizzas and pene with Mama's special sauce - yumm. Great service and location. Will definitely come back for more!!
Cynthia Agustin
Nice and toasty inside on a cold and wet wintry evening, good food, friendly staff. Will definitely come back for more. You will always feel full after a meal here!
FoodiesTable
Been here many times. They are often very busy. Not to be picky but service isn’t great most of the times. Food comes late. But we do love the food there.
Zo Po
pizza was very underwhelming.... rotten zucchini and uncooked pizza dough. other pizza we received wasn't the one we had ordered, cheap nasty meat cuts. to expensive for bad pizza
Samantha
Came here for my birthday and was not disappointed! The food was amazing and everyone was happy, would definitely recommend to others. Had a very good experience and would definitely go back!
Jack Burton
Friendly staff. Good range of tasty Italian food and the portions are great for big eaters!<br/>Current favourite: Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi<br/>Pastas are beautiful too.
Robert Peterson
Although rather pricey the pizza is very well made. Their passion for making great pizzas really shows. Their pizzas are very well complimented by an excellent selection of wines.
Michael.aholelei
Went for the Napolitana and Puttanesca. Both were really good. Crust was a little doughy, but the cheese melted well in to the sauce.<br/><br/>A little pricy but thats Auckland...<br/><br/>A solid 7.8/10
Lizzie
How is this place not more hyped?!! Came here for a byo last night & was blown away honestly!! At first looking at the menu I thought that it was abit pricy but once I saw the portion sizes I understood why. My friend and I shared the bruschetta w/ mozzarella, tomato & basil and there were 8 big pieces so cheesy and delicious!! I also had the fettuccine pollo which was like 3 portion sizes! The pizzas are also phenomoenal - especially the salmon and the chicken and pesto. One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been too, so authentic and it was so packed!!
Annie Low
Very nice Italian restaurant in new market!! <br/>Went in the evening with my boss and I have ordered the fettuccine polo for myself, and also seafood salad to share over! Love the creamy sauce so much. Will definitely be back to try their bolognese !’ Super big portion too. I only get to finish 3/4 of my food!! Seafood salad was scrumptious too. They are very generous with their portion!!
Randy
Anything seafood related at Archie’s Pizzeria is THE thing to get. We have had the seafood salad (my absolute favourite), the salmon pizza and the seafood marinara. The seafood salad comes with a good variety of seafood, mainly fresh prawns and fish which is cooked to perfection. We come here just for these dishes EVERY time.
Gina Voglar
Archie's pizzeria brings the authenticity and generosity of the Italian cuisine and the art of pizza making: the service is efficient, and kind and always welcoming and happy, the music is great. The salads are amazing and the choices of entree's. Archie is an amazing host! For birthdays he always gifts the guests with his special surprises - very communicative and lifting . The BEST Pizzeria in NZ!
Asianfoodie
Had the Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi and the Fettuccine Polo. I reallllly loved the fettuccine and enjoyed the pizza. Friendly staff who went up and beyond to make our experience a gem.
Anastasia Matiatos
Damn Archie's Pizzeria is a 9/10. Went here for my birthday dinner with my family and had a pleasant time. The restaurant is always super busy but the staff manage to cater for everyone well. I got the Spaghetti Bolognaise which was pretty good, I mean you can't really go wrong with a bolognaise like it wasn't amazing and it wasn't terrible. The rest of my family got pizza's and pastas and they also enjoyed their meals. I would like to come back here as it's fairly good Italian and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. x
Diner8Here
Archies is one of most original pizza/pasta places known and finally i came out of my comfort zone to try out this place as every time i walk by it is always well patronised with diners.<br/>Had the chicken fettuccine and vege pizza made the traditional way, and you can see the cook make it, had i known it has alot of olives would ask for none,  just manage to finish fettuccine but took home half pizza, quite pricey here though.
Jenny Da
I love Archie’s pizza, it’s right around the corner from where I work and when we did a lunch shout I just knew to come here!<br/><br/>We ordered a couple of pizzas, pasta and salad for takeaway (sorry no photos, the team ate it all) but it was much enjoyed by everyone. I recommend the Margherita pizza and chicken pesto! Perfect wood fire crusts and toppings. The service is always friendly and welcoming too, I was given a glass of orange juice while waiting for the orders. <br/><br/>The garlic pizza bread is also delicious if you want something light! <br/><br/>Highly recommend this restaurant for their food and lovely service.
Flippynz
Great pizza at this place which is all i had room for. Watching a lot of the other dishes come out gave me a serious case of food envy. Menus shows a solid pizza and pasta list. Beer list is naff but the lumsden is a few doors down anyway. Super long wait time but place was packed neck to neck so measure it before comitting.
LuNa The TuNa
Best pizza and pasta in newmarket. Also the seafood salad not bad. Sometimes we want to eat refresh foods coz paste too creamy, the seafood salad must be the best choice.
Jason Jost
Delicious pizza full of flavour with fresh ingredients. Friendly service though it took a while for them to take our order. There could have been a bit more topping on the pizza. A very nice atmosphere with the outdoor dining at 10pm. Very much looking forward to going back and trying a few other things on their menu.
SpoonMe
Been here twice and both times were great. <br/>Always busy for lunch but the food comes out quick and quality is great. <br/>$17 for their lunch menu is on the more expensive side but if you want to spend a few extra dollars in Newmarket, I highly recommend getting one of their pizzas!
Ilie
Best italian in town! You get the full italian experience too — lively chatter (but not too much), friendly service and the smell of good food permeates the area.<br/><br/>Not to mention, the food is superb! Full of flavour, creamy pasta and large portions. I personally recommend their Fettucine Pollo & Steak Salad.
Bonny Sapphire
Used to come here weekly about 8 years ago! Returned yesterday for a small staff lunch, was just as I remember! Fantastic! Lovely Rose, everyone was pleased with their meals. The seafood pasta is my personal favourite but i had to try something different, the prosciutto pizza was delicious! Love the olive oil and balsamic reduction on table. Family business vibe. Given complimentary nib at end, nice touch. Thanks guys, will be back again soon! 👍🏼🤩
Francesca Ramponi
I eat pizza here last week and I can say that unfortunately I didn’t find an Italian pizza. It’s thin and crispy, so it isn’t that. I’m sorry but this is my opinion.
Cass Finlayson
Archie’s never fails. Not only that, but on more than one occasion he has given us complimentary frangelico & to top it off he gave us a ride to the impound yard after we sat there watching our car get towed 🙈 10+ stars, have said it before and will continue to say it - will most certainly be back.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
Food has changed !!!<br/>Less ingredients and pizza base crunchy like cracker.<br/>The place also looks more messy than ever !!!<br/>Dirty toilets; soft drink boxes on the floor in the back of the restaurant<br/>Bad smell from the cleaning cloths they used to clean the table.<br/><br/>Very sorry to see that but after coming here for almost 6 years.<br/>Thd place has gone backwards and the last 2 dining experiences were terrible.<br/><br/>I don't think I am back here.<br/>
Lillie
Food was very nice and within a manageable price range, staff was friendly and nice. Highly recommend the pizza and the penne dishes. Overall, it was very nice and the ambience was nice as well.
Anitha Narayan
Excellent salads and good pizzas. Friends I went with raves about their seafood salad. Check it out for some authentic Italian food ... great service guys!!
Veronica Te
This place is VERY Italian. Prepare for a loud, friendly, fast-paced dining experience. This place is always packed 7 days of the week (especially during dinner). However the team there are very accommodating and often will move tables to fit you in. All of Archie's food is just divine and they use such fresh ingredients. I particularly love their bruschetta that has both melted mozzarella and fresh mozzarella!
Morné Van Tonder
Time for a good pizza and pasta? From a warm welcome to quick service, Archies delivers on this. One of the best wood fired pizza’s yet while the family enjoyed fresh and delicious pasta. Owner checking in at the end. Great Saturday afternoon out!
Jewel
I heard about this place very long time but I been to this restaurant first time on last 2 months. Actually I don’t like to eat pizza a lot but this place made me feel amazing with their pizza and other food also real yummy too. I like something I will go back to eat the same thing again and again. I really like they seafood salad and salmon and pizza too. Yummy yummy

I absolutely love this restaurant! Love the service you get from the time you enter through their door right up until you leave. <br/><br/>I usually order the vegetarian lasagne - which is just to die for TRUST ME! but today I tried the fettuccine seafood marinara .. and this tasted amazing too!! <br/><br/>I really love the atmosphere of this restaurant, it’s got a very casual/rustic homey feel to it, and you just feel right at home when your there. It also helps a lot that the staff/team are so friendly, they definetly make you feel very welcomed and they take very good care of you ... it’s also awesome to see and talk the charming Archie - 😅 your service is incredible <br/><br/>All in all .. I’ve been to this restaurant so many times I’ve lost count. Beautiful food and great vibes! Would definitely recommend it to everyone of all ages ❤️

Lovely Italian atmosphere, I almost felt like I was in Italy haha. Tried Alla Margarita pizza and Fettucine Polo. Well-seasoned, nice flavours and good textures!
Brendan Chun
PLEASANT is the keyword here. While located nice and central in Newmarket, Archies is conveniently placed away from the noisy intersection and instead, you are accompanied by some live nearby bands while you dine outside on a pleasant day. I prefer to come here during lunch on weekdays while it’s cheaper, however that doesn’t stop me coming in the weekend if I need to satisfy my cravings for pasta or pizza. Note, if you’re outside service may be slow as they aren’t always outside and very busy dealing with all the other tables that are consistently full!<br/>Food 5/5<br/>Service 3/5<br/>Look & Feel 4/5<br/>Value 4/5
Henry
Nice wood-fired pizza (had the margarita). Average pasta (had the penne carbonara). Busy place and staff try their best. Would return for the pizza if my arm was twisted. If not, then no.
Chhavi Kohli
Went to this place because of the hype- which it failed to live upto. We ordered a pitcher of their tap beer which came with a fly in it. The pizza was crusty but was again subnormal- I've had much better in Auckland. The lamb was a bit hard and the flavours of the plate didn't complement each other. I had expected much better from this place. Thumbs down 👎
Marcusliddell007
Very tasty , bloody nice medium rare ribeye steak came with decent sized salad, buttery and perfect mashed spuds. Mrs had a pizza- not best in the world as they claim but still tasted nice. Lady “boss” seemed a bit abrupt to the point of almost rude but no big deal. That said a smile with a bit of friendliness can go a long way.
Pamela
We took our Italian visitor who wasn’t impressed! The pizza bread and pizza were delicious but the risotto was undercooked and bland. The fettuccini was also tasteless. Very disappointing. <br/>
Allan Fong
It's been a while since we last had Archie's. I ordered a pizza. Pizza was topped with a salad that was way past its expiry. It was half yellow and rotten....
Bean
Very good service. Food came out very fast. The lunch speicals are the best ordered the pizza gf ordered the beef salad both cooked perfectly.will definatly be returning Lane Fluffy.
Momo
Had the worst experience here, after placing our order and waiting about 40 minutes, the lady came back and asked "what did you order again ?" Then we got our food 10 minutes later. The lady clearly forgot our order as people that came after us got served before us. They also forgot part of our order, I didn't say anything as I was extremely disappointed already and just wanted to finish our meal and leave. Food was okay, will definetly not be returning here.
João Plácido
Well..on a Saturday walk through Newmarket knowing nothing about restaurants in the area we decided to make a quick stop for a pizza and boy were we suprised.<br/>All natural ingredients and the dishes are well served. I can say without a doubt that from I know, we have found the best pizza in Auckland
Wei
It's not often that when I order a seafood pasta, I get more seafood than pasta but that's how it is at Archies! The tutto mare is just an incredible flavour explosion. Pasta, prawns, scallops, mussels, fish and plenty of it in a delicious tomato sauce with al dente noodles. First bite tastes like the ocean and sends you to heaven, it's a must try. The salads, pizzas and other pasta dishes look delicious too, portion sizes are generous and I think everything on the lunch menu is $16.
Margot Vildósola
The beef lasagna is really good, pizza crust is thin and crunchy. Staff is very attentive, it can be quite busy for lunch and for dinner probably better to book.
Samantha Green
We were overcharged and they added extra drinks onto our tab. Clearly you could tell this was not the owners first time, she separated us, provided no receipt and whispered our totals so that we would not work it out. When we went back to fix it they said they were close and couldn’t do anything about it. Fair to say I will not be coming back.
Tyler Sutton
I love this place. I’m back again today after my first visit yesterday! It has a nice and relaxed vibe. I’ve only tried the pizza which is absolutely delicious. The one with chicken and courgette is wow. The prices are so good and reasonable ultimately the $16 pizza is what will keep me coming back. Good portion sizes too. Room for improvement would be the decor but the foods to good to care so much about that.
Oksana Zhang
Came here for a lunch stopover while we waited to see avengers! Ironically neither of us ordered their wood fired pizza this time round; instead opting for their Seafood Salad and Pasta. <br/><br/>Portions were really good for just $16! I quite enjoyed the seafood salad, which was loaded with fish, calamari, prawns and scallops— all very well seasoned and not at all dry too! <br/><br/>Would love to be back to try their pizzas! <br/><br/>Food: 8/10<br/>Price: 10/10<br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/>Service: 8/10

I loved the pizza and the place/staff is very welcoming.<br/>People in my group were not too happy about their pasta though.<br/>But pizza is good and service is great.
Jemma
I love Archie’s!! While I was there I ate the chicken and pesto pizza along with a pasta. (me and my date shared 👅) The service started the experience off phenomenally well, then the dishes came and exceeded the amazing service only in taste and texture. Finally I shared a creme caramel which compared to the other experiences from the restaurant was underwhelming, however because everything else was so good, this leaves the dessert still very good compared to other Italian restaurants.

Beautiful place to stop and have a pasta, beer, wine, you name it! Lovely little sparrows chirping around add to the atmosphere ❤️ Italian man whom I assume to be the owner, very polite, hands on and smartly dressed. Food was delicious, I had a cream based pasta, seasoned well and as it was lunch time menu at 3pm, I only paid $16! Well worth it :) I will be back x

Archies has been a long time favourite for myself and friends as we have worked and studied close to newmarket. The have a $16 lunch special for pizzas/pastas/salads. It is pretty much their dinner menu but half the price! (As such I struggle to come here for dinner as I would rather wait for lunch the next day and pay half the amount). It’s a nice environment always quite busy and the owner Archie is often seen working alongside his staff. <br/><br/>At times it can be a little strange as the management will argue with staff in full view of the diners (one point off) unfortunately this happens more then it should. I personally have witnessed around four times. <br/><br/>My personal favourite is the Tutumare. Seafood lover bliss!! Comes with fish, squid, mussels, prawn and scallops all perfectly cooked! I often ask to change my sauce from tomato to cream which the staff have always been happy to do. The garlic bread pizza is delicious. <br/><br/>I will continue to come back here for lunches. They have been a long standing resident in Newmarket and have a very popular following for good reason!

Archies is a popular Italian restauarant in Newmarket with a reasonable range of pizza and pasta. Busy most nights but not too hard to find a table. It is good for casual lunch or dinner rather than exciting food exploration.

I visit this restaurant often and usually would rate it between a 4 and 4.5.But my last visit (28/03/18 evening) was a disappointment. Ordered the eye fillet steak which was $37+ and it was easily the smallest cut of steak I have ever had at a restaurant, not to mention that my "medium rare" steak was burnt to a crisp in some places. It would be nice if the meat portion sizes represented the cost.Their pastas are usually great in terms of taste and quantity, so the steak was a bit of a let down.<br/><br/>

Best GF pizza I have had ever. Very busy but found a table. Great atmosphere with a nice buzz. Even though it was busy we were not rushed and left feeling great. Will go back again and again...<br/>

Being a pizza and pasta lover, this is my to-go place. I love their food, it's super delicious. The pizza is served fresh from the oven and the quantity of pasta was good too. The staff is cheerful and the service was decent too. The best part is their amazing delicious food doesn't impact on a student's pocket drastically.  :D

Absolutely terrible service. Food is sometimes great, sometimes terrible, but inconsistency itself makes me not want to go back, not to mention how overpriced it is. It's a shame because the place is right near where I live, and there are no other italian restaurants near me. Saw the pizza chef scratch his crotch area down his pants, and a waiter casually drinking what looked like an iced chocolate on the floor. Not very professional and I would never be able to do that at the cafe I work at. Don't know how it survives.

4/5 Taste<br/>4/5 Display <br/>4/5 Quantity <br/>4/5 Customer Service<br/><br/>Decent value Italian Restaurant,<br/><br/>Always heard about them and finally got to go, portions of pasta were huge comparing with other italian restaurants, pizza was very nice indeed. <br/>Keen to go again in lunchtime to abuse their cheaper pizza and pasta. <br/><br/>

the waiters here...are one of the sole reasons why i come here...<br/><br/>oh and also the food is great!! their penne pasta dishes are amazing and super rich
Diogo Reck
The menu here makes me feel like in a true Italian restaurant. Love the carpaccio and the pizza is great, crispy and with just the right amount of topping. <br/><br/>Also like the chilled vibe and the service, but I'd really luv if they could replace their olive oil for a better one.
Lily
Quality food. Delicious tortellinis. Amazing ambience. Warm, friendly and efficient staff. Really fast service and food preparation. Happy to go there again with friends. I just wished there was a variety of dressings and sauces. But it may not be the Italian fashion.

I’ve been to Archie’s twice and enjoyed their pastas (especially during lunch, as the price drops down to $16). Service is generally pretty friendly, and I like that the restaurant has a decent amount of space – so you can usually get a seat even without a booking. <br/><br/>The first time I visited, I had their fettucine carbonara pollo. The pasta was filling and very creamy, and came with lots of chicken. I couldn’t taste the white wine in the sauce, though. Not very memorable but still tasty and comforting. <br/><br/>Second time round, I had the penne di mare – which came with lots of seafood. I loved the fish, prawns and scallops. The red sauce was surprisingly sweet, which was a nice touch. <br/><br/>Their limonata was refreshing and simple; fine for $3.50.<br/><br/>Overall, a nice place for a casual meal with friends.

My wife and I come here a lot. It's not too expensive. Basically the best pizza I am aware of in Auckland. Very authentic. You will be served by an Italian with bad English always a good sign.  Get the pizza with prosciutto on it. Staff are really nice. It is always packed for a reason!!
Dxlche
$16 Pizzas and Pastas, this is a broke students dream Italian restaurant. The seafood pasta is always a good deal here. Their sauce has a great depth of flavour too. I have come here many many times in the past few years. <br/>The taste and service never lets me down and I will be coming here for the foreseeable future. <br/>

Utterly reliable, utterly affordable - pizza salmone mwah! Apparently this review must be 140 characters... What BS is that! Here's another 16 then

Pizza was fresh out of the oven and tasted amazing. The chicken salad tasted very delicious and healthy at the same time. As for the pasta, the prawns proved to be a good match to it.
Sheila Putri
Perfection, love the pasta & the service. Always ordered Fettuccine Polo & I absolutely adore how light the cream sauce is, its not too heavy yet very tasty. Dash of blackpepper simply enhances the sauce taste. All in all, can never get tired of this place.

Went with a big group of friends, good service and decent food. However the walls of the restaurant and the roof were covered in black bugs and flies. It was very off-putting and made the restaurant seem very dirty.
Steven Bennett
Great service and great food. Will come back. Had the salmon fillet and the chicken pesto pizza. We also got the garlic pizza entree and it was too much food for two!
Rohit
Lunch specials are great here. $15 for great choice of pasta with good ambience and atmosphere. I always have the chicken fettucine and the chefs are nice enough to cater for tomato sauce base instead of cream.
Try_something_new
Ordered : prawn linguini and polo pesto pizza. The base and crust of the pizza was thin and crispy. Good amounts of chicken and pesto but the flavours didn't compliment each other. The pasta had tasty prawns and tomatoes. But the pasta was a little hard the sauce was very watery.
LilMSunshine
Good location amongst the strip of other restaurants & pubs. As I'm a pizza and pasta lover, I really love this place! Pizza was served fresh from oven and absolutely good. Ordered half and half which is a bonus. Friendly vibe, quick service and place was packed and popular with the locals. So damn good! 🍕🍕🍕🍰🍰🍰
Gabi
Fantassssstic pizza. Ordered the Al Salmone, to die for! Great service and the food is reasonably priced, fresh and served hot and fast. What a find.

Went for my birthday treat, it was a fine place to dine. Staffs were warm and welcoming, good ambiance. <br/>Had variety of wine to choose. <br/>Food was good, served well. Didn't make us wait for long. Felt happy that i chose a good place take take my friend's for a special occasion. <br/><br/>Food: 4/5 <br/>Ambience: 4/5 <br/>Wine variety: 4.5/5 <br/>Service: 4.5/5 <br/>

I came here on lunch break with a friend, and was delightfully surprised with their prosciutto pizza! The flavours worked perfectly together and was absolutely delicious - I high recommend. However service was somewhat questionable at times. Overall, worth trying out!
FlyingFoodWanderer
Okay tonight’s foodgasm presenting Archie’s Pizzeria! The Italian is everywhere! Mouthwatering food 🥘 Location ✔️ service ✔️ owner is so down to earth 🌏 5⭐️ overall! Very personalised approach when it comes to their diners. If you want to take your date or family, this is the place to be.

Bought a smoked chicken mushroom pasta takeaway from here. Did not realise it would be supermarket smoked chicken and watery sauce.<br/><br/>Definitely not worth it, super disappointed.
Mmmfood
We had lunch here again after a period of not visiting this restaurant and I am afraid to say that things have gone downhill quite a bit. The pizza was greasy, the crust was burnt on the side and the capers and olives were all in the centre of the pizza, causing an overkill of flavours in the centre and a lack of flavours on the outside. We also tried the chicken and mushroom risotto for the first time. Honestly, you cannot call that a risotto - it is just rice with chicken and mushrooms. A risotto is supposed to be creamy. To top it all off, what used to be some of the best service of any restaurant in Auckland, has turned into a no smiles policy. The guy at the till was particularly stand-offish. I also overheard the waiters getting the order at the neighbouring table wrong (vege lasagne instead of beef lasagne). This is a very disappointing development. Good Italian food seems to be hard to come by in Auckland these days.

Went to Archie’s Newmarket for Kusum’s birthday lunch. It was a warm sunny day and we got there for the lunch rush hour. Ordered 2 pasta dishes and a pizza. The food not only looked great, it tasted even better! Definitely recommend to anyone that wants to get some good Italian food! Will be back again! 😁
Rob Lucci
fair prices for thi type of resturant, really friendly and proactive services<br/>Had seafood fettucine and there was more seafood than pasta, theres a whole fish, and lots of others<br/>really generous portions<br/>steak salad from next table looked amazing too<br/>

Archie's is always busy during lunch and for a good reason! <br/>The food is fantastic, great quality and great value. Archie's offers a $16 lunch menu which has everything from salads, pasta and pizza. <br/>I had the seafood salad which was amazing! Full of good ingredients.<br/>My work colleague had the lamb shank which I tried and also enjoyed.<br/>I have also had their pizzas in the past and enjoy the chicken and courgette one. <br/>Only thing I could fault is the service from one of the waitresses, but she may have been overwhelmed with how busy it was.<br/>I will definitely be returning!

There's an air of authenticity to this place. The staff looks like theu know half the people who's dining. We ordered pizza and pasta and we both like them with a bottle of italian red wine. We are seated beside the wood fired oven so that's exciting. The table is too small for the pizza and the dishes we ordered but it's not a let down. At first, we were seated in the table beside the toilet but they are accommodating enougj to make room for us without reservation. Overall it was good and i'll go back again :)
HelenMeng2000
Nice restaurant, calamari is very yum. However, restaurant is a little small and one of the pizzas was too salty. Overall not too expensive and in a good location
J Jones
Good customer service, food tasted great. Good price and lunch menu. I would recommend coming here for lunch. This place can get very busy around lunchtime.
Wapatino
I tried the Penne pollo fumigato pasta dish and it was absolutely delicious! <br/>My friend had the chicken and mushroom risotto and that dish needed some salt/parmesan cheese to be really tasty. But overall it was good. Pizza was delicious as well. <br/><br/>Service was great. The staff was friendly and accommodating. <br/>I'm definitely looking forward to going back to Archies and trying more of the items in the menu including the pizzas!

We went to Archies on Saturday evening after movie. We arrived just before 7pm without reservation and restaurant was really busy, luckily Yon and I managed to squish in the outside table.<br/><br/>We though service was good, staffs looks tired but very genuine and helpful. We sat next to very big table which in the beginning was quite noisy. We will try to get table inside and find quieter time for next time.<br/><br/>Great selection of menu but we only ordered a few, pizza bread and dips, bruschetta, and seafood pizza. <br/><br/>We love their pizza, base was perfectly made and cooked in wood fire, crispy, light, puffy, and thin. Nyummm! Our seafood were cooked to the perfection, my personal favourite was how the fish cooked on top of our pizza. Pizza's size was good too!<br/><br/>Dips was good with the pesto being our favourite. We had mix bruschetta, great addition of rocket salad in the middle but I would prefer fresher (more tomatoes, basil, etc) version than cheesy ones. <br/><br/>We made this review purely based on one experience which may not be representative. We will definitely come back for more. Thank you Archies Pizzeria
Jeffie
We had pizza on the brain so we thought we would give this place a try.<br/><br/>Ambience and service is standard. We had the prosciutto cotto e funghi and al salmone. I liked all the condiments being on the table, the pizzas were brought out in a good time and weren't bad at all. I've had pizza in a small village in Italy and these were very reminiscent of those.
Matthew O'Connor
Having been to restaurants in Italy and Spain where they make a fuss of children, this was a lovely surprise. No colouring in book, here's your pizza dough to roll out (that they would then take away cook in their oven). Great service, really good food. Would recommend all day long.<br/>
Samantha Gemmell
Nice little Italian restaurant in new market. All the food was nice but nothing outstanding as I've definitely had better around auckland. The pizza that we got was okay but it was a little bit bland and meh for my liking. The chicken fettuccine was quite nice though and so was the fish.
I_like_pickles
Nice seating area, nice outdoor seating if the weather is fine. Service is pretty quick and friendly.<br/><br/>Pizzas are ok, not the best but ok. Could do with more toppings. The toppings are really only scattered in the middle and there's a lot of crust area lacking in toppings and sauce. For the price you pay for a pizza I expected more toppings for a pizza of that size.<br/><br/>

Went here for lunch with 2 friends. I have never been before. Really crowded. Seated by the window. Very fast service and fabulous food. We ate pizza, pasta & a chicken salad. Brilliant. Lots of food for very reasonable prices. Well done Archie's. I'll be back.
Peter Sefton
Went to Archie's with friends on 5 August. My, are you ever jammed in with the next door diners practically sitting at your table! So noisy you can only have a conversation with yourself. Archie's claims to have best pizzas in Auckland, however not in my opinion- I can think of at least two other nearby restaurants where in my judgement the pizzas are far superior. I had a lasagne which was barely OK as the pasta sheets were quite hard and difficult to get your fork through- that's not the Italian way of preparing pasta. My guess is that they were bought sheets rather than made in house.<br/>Nevertheless the restaurant was frantically busy so must appeal to others. Sadly, not to me.
Winnie Chauchau
Really cosy little corner restaurant! There's even a pizza oven where you can see your pizza sitting inside! We ordered a prosciutto pizza and the chicken fettuccine between two people, and had to takeaway half of it because the portions are so generous. The fettuccine had a subtle mushroom flavour, but perhaps had a bit too much olive oil, which overpowered the sauce. It was also a bit dry for my liking. The pizza was amazing, with a gorgeous crispy crust, and heaps of prosciutto and tomato on top. We went on a Wednesday night, and it was packed, so a bit noisy. Definitely recommend booking to ensure you can get a seat - they're very popular (for good reason)!

Food - 4/5 (Would have given 5 if the pasta was cooked more) <br/>Customer Service - 5/5 *<br/>Place it self - 5/5    <br/>*Special mention for their customer service. EXTREMELY friendly staff! We went there as a big group (8 of us) to celebrate a friend's birthday with a cake. The moment we got in one of the waiter's understood what we wanted with the cake and offered to take it in and to bring it after lunch. <br/>After lunch what we see is that their whole staff carrying the cake with a candle lit up and singing Happy Birthday for our friend. Which I thought was an amazing thought of them! Last but not least they got us extra plates and cutleries to eat the cake where the work load for them is obviously doubled but didn't charge a single dollar. Therefore, a special thanks to the whole staff for being so kind and welcoming... Definitely would come here again with friends and family.

Came here on a cold Wednesday night with a friend.<br/><br/>The customer service was certainly amazing - got seated immediately and the waiter was very nice.<br/><br/>For the entree we ordered bread & dip which was yum!<br/><br/>They also give you Parmesan and balsamic vinegar on the side if you're looking for something crazy ;)<br/><br/>The vegetarian pizza was certainly the highlight - authentic and crispy :))<br/><br/>All in all, great place to go to!
Mochi.95
I had a great lunch here and it definitely lived up to its expectations. The place felt very warm and friendly and customers kept on coming it. It was very full throughout lunch and the food still managed to be amazing👏👏 The service was very nice and friendly and all waiters/waitresses were Italian (I'm assuming based on my other Italian friends) and hence it felt extra authentic.<br/><br/>I ordered the Rare Beef Salad, Mediteranneo pizza and Fettuccine Tutto Mare. The food was very delicous and worth the price. However I would've preferred a one or two more slices of beef for the salad. <br/><br/>Overall, it was a nice lunch and I would recommend those dishes to anyone wanting to try the place out for lunch. I will definitely be visiting again for lunch.
Mercypatch
Authentic Italian from food to even staff, nice hearing the Italian accents by the friendly and attentive staff when ordering. We were quickly bought water and seated right under the heater when they could see I was shivering, it kept us so cosy all night. Daiquiri and Pina Colada were so delish - could probably add a little garnish to the Pina Colada to make it look as good as it tasted.<br/>I'm a really big eater and couldn't finish the Fettuccine Polo, it was so rich and tasty with so much chicken breast in it, amazing. My friend ordered the Margarita pizza and said it was the best woodfire pizza she's ever had - she owned a woodfire pizza company in the past.<br/>A cosy, cool atmosphere, lovely staff, great drinks and yummy food to take home as leftovers with a full belly. Will definitely be back.
Anna
Came here for our anniversary dinner. It is a very authentic Italian restaurant with a wood fire oven for pizzas. You could see them make the pizza bases next to the ovens.<br/>The vegetarian lasagna was full of good wholesome ingredients but it needed a decent pinch of salt. The pizza base was faultless. Thin, crispy and not chewy, definitely the highlight of the meal. My partner's penne with creamy mushrooms was also very enjoyable.<br/>Their house made lemon, lime and bitters was very sour even for me, who normally enjoys a sour kick.<br/>It was a busy little place with lots of chatter but the seating was comfortable and the service was good.
Jaffa
Staple Newmarket restaurant.. great for a weekday lunch or quick after dinner meal.<br/><br/>The pizzas here are great with Parmesan and balsamic glaze to add an extra kick. They are quick, nice and light hand tossed bases with simple quality toppings! <br/><br/>Service is simple but friendly! Generally always busy so get on quick for a table!
Chris Mahon
It's really noisy inside but if you can manage that, the food is great.  Service is average, ambience is challenging but our favorite is the Seafood pizza.  It takes longer than the average pizza but is SO well worth it!!  Give it a try... you'll go back again and again!
Julie-Couper Thlady Albany
I knew from the moment I walked in from the fresh garlic and tomato smells that this was going to be a good one.  I was not disappointed.  Totally recommend the seafood pizza, with its fresh seafood and tomato on a thin and crispy base.  I will be coming back real soon.
Pef Mmg
Really good pizza but quite slow service. We order for take away and unfortunately the pizza was cold when arrived home. Traffic was bad but it took more than 10min to pay and get our takeaway... Will try again and hope it was just a busy/not enough staff night.
Allie
Ordered some takeaways tonight and they told me 20 minutes but when I got there only half my food was ready & had to wait 15 for the other food, when I got it, it was cold like it had been sitting there for a while. Was very disappointed so my partner wanted to eat there as we were walking back to a place with no access to an appliance that would heat our food.<br/><br/>We complained and the lady who I assume was the owner, took it off us to sort everything out. She quickly reheated our pastas and remade our pizza whilst still letting us keep the other pizza. She was very apologetic and the rest of our stay was catered for by the friendly staff members.<br/><br/>Food was absolutely delicious, I look forward to eating my other pizza! I will be back, mistakes happen.
Sinead Hesnan
Great food especially the carbonara - staff are friendly and service is prompt but the set up at the till needs changing. When the place is busy you have to stand and queue on top of people trying to enjoy their meal which feels quite awkward. Overall a great place to go for good pizza/pasta!
Julia Dempsey
The food is mediocre but the real thing this restaurant is lacking is service. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly by staff, we came in with a large party of people and the owner was unpleasant from the entree until dessert. If you're looking for the worst service in auckland come here
Chico
Time to time I crave for a rich & creamy pasta badly.<br/>The cream chicken pasta definitely satisfy my crave.<br/>If you know good creamy pasta, please let me know I love to try 😊
Shadowinthenightfall
Our small party of three were very well looked after by the friendly and welcoming staff. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive and when it did everything was great. Especially the tiramisu. We will definitely go back.
Annie Zhou
Popular eatery especially on the weekends. Service is always friendly, and the pizzas are definitely something special! The base being oven baked is crunchy and chewy at the same time, much different from your average fast food joint.
Toaiva Tom Teevale
Penne Polo Fumigato and Al Salmone Pizza are to die for.  Great friendly service from a family owned business.  Great atmosphere.  Very reasonable prices on the lunch menu.
Ashleigh Michelle
I came here for dinner the other day on Mothers Day, and it was both of our first time here and we were pleasantly suprised! Although really busy, the staff were super friendly which made the atmosphere really comfortable. We weren't too hungry so only ordered a Margharita pizza and garlic bread, but they were both huge so we left full! I especially didn't expect the garlic bread to be way bigger than a normal size pizza and it tasted so good. Probably because of the woodfired base. The Margharita was amazing with lots of fresh basil and mozarella but would have been better with more tomato. Also, I did have a coffee here but would never have one again here. I found the coffee they used to be almost undrinkable. Overall, I had an excellent experience here, the food was delicious and service great. Can't wait to try out tbe $15 lunch meals I've heard they do.
Hannah Poole
A 3 at best. Pizza is over priced. The ingredients taste cheap and the huge tomato slices on the pizza are off putting and simply not nice. This is not authentic Italian pizza.  Lacked seasoning greatly and was all around disappointing. Will not be back.
Eda Huang
We got the garlic pizza bread, prosciutto cotto e funghi and penne pollo, <br/><br/>- food was amazing, <br/>- loved every bit of it, <br/>- great lunch place in new market,<br/>- was satisfied with everything we had, only disappointment was the staffs that served us, kinda gave us a feeling that they were giving a little attitude but apart from that everything was great
Danielle Riethmiller
The food here is consistently amazing. On the 6 or so times I have aaten here I have never been disappointed in the food. My favorites are the diavlo pizza and the carbonara, my partner really enjoys the salmon or mushroom risotto. We always leave very full and quite satisfied.
Charlene Weaver
I haven't been to Archie's in years and was looking forward to trying it again! <br/><br/>My friend and I ordered the Margherita pizza and the rocket salad to share. Both were really disappointing.. the pizza isn't authentic. There was a tomato slice on each piece and it was just so bland, try Dantes in Ponsonby for authentic Italian pizza. <br/><br/>The salad wasnt enjoyable, however my friend said it was ok so maybe just a personal preference. The goats cheese wasn't the creamiest I've had and I really didn't enjoy the mix of goats cheese and Parmesan together, both cheeses are so rich and different I would have preferred one or the other. It also lacked dressing and was a very dry salad. <br/><br/>I personally prefer other Italian restaurants however the $15 lunch special they do is good value for money.
Claude VanDamm
Heard a lot of great reviews about this place so took the kids. Pasta was tasty portions sizes were ok, the pizza bases were tasty and crisp. Pretty authentic.
Tone TT
Very nice set up and the service was top notch, the scotch fillet was cooked to perfection and also the fettuccine Polo which was very beautiful and very filling<br/>
Pu Spencer
worst pasta I had in Auckland....obviously, they used too much butter or oil in pasta. The pizza was ok. My boyfriend likes the pizza because of its thin pizza bread. And service was average. Definitely will not go back again.
Ffionachua
This is one of my go to pasta and pizza places in auckland. Conveniently located in Newmarket, Archie's has quite a wide range of pasta and pizza options. My fav is their fettuccine pollo (I usually swap for spaghetti tho). <br/><br/>Recently, I tried their pizza and loved it. The crust is light and crisp, and the ratio of the crust to the sauce and toppings is just nice. If you're looking for something light to fill your tummy, pizza at Archie's a really good option! <br/><br/>I'd highly recommend asking for extra chilli flakes / chilli oil to add to your pasta at Archie's. It really elevates the flavours that are already there!
S&G Take Auckland
Great food and value for money. We usually go here for the $15 lunch specials, and have never been disappointed. The portion sizes are huge and the pasta is really good. Usually i get the fettuccine which has always been delicious. The smoked chicken pizza isn't to my taste, but my friend loves it. Great prices for a very filling meal. We always have food left over.
Lauren Jennett
Took my mum and sister here for dinner. Food was amazing and staff were awesome, we didn't book a table and they were busy but made room for us 😊 highly recommend the seafood pasta it was amazing
Aaron Yap
I guess Business is too good and the quality of food drops constantly, Mussels in the pasta are not cleaned properly, Still left with hair in it. Pasta flooded with sauce, I thought i was eating a soup with fettuccine. Should probably call it Soup with Pasta. Owner is rude, Probably that's how italian's are. Overall, Really bad!
Tess Jones
Bruschetta great 4.5 star and enjoyed the wine<br/>However please don't order the prawn linguini see photo.. after finishing (mostly because I was really hungry and late for a movie) I notice my bland pasta had been sitting in a bucket of brown water at the bottom on my deep dish plate.<br/>I'm astounded a chef made this. <br/>*Another at my table orders lasagne and mentioned he has had better microwave meals.<br/>*Waitress accidentally spilt water on the lap of another patron..
Chicken Wing
This would probably be one of my favourite places to eat pizza, if not the most. Firstly service was great, the food wait was kinda long but totally worth it when the food came. The pizza base/crust was amazing, probably because it's wood-fired. It was thin and crispy and the flavour was subtle and delicious. I ordered the Al Salmone pizza, and the salmon was also really really good, perfectly cooked with a nice texture and flavour. The mesclun was a tiny bit dry though, but apart from that it was really good. The cream cheese went really well with it, and the mozzarella was also done really well, it wasn't too thick or thin or gooey like I've had at some other places. The lemon lime and bitters that I ordered was a bit average, too sour and it kinda just tasted like limeonade. It wasn't too bad though, I've had worse. Overall the pizza was superb, its a little pricey but it's definitely worth coming at least once in your lifetime.
Trish
Well, the food was great but it was so slow to come we ended up scoffing it down or putting it in boxes to go. We arrived at 7pm for our booking as we had an 8.45 at power plant at the domain. That should have been more than enough time!!People still eating at the table before us, hadn't even had their desserts!! So we finally got in at 7.30, sat down and waited! First table wasn't set for enough people, drinks took forever, got our garlic pizza at 8.15, kids were starving so munched that down, then we encouraged them to speed up, so we got our mains at 8.35, inhaled some food and then boxed the rest up! Not a pleasant eating experience. What we ate was delicious, but would we go back? Not sure!
Benedict Uy
Stopped by for lunch with some friends. We had to book to make sure we had a table since they are always busy. Fairly decent selection of pasta and pizza on the menu as well as other items like steak.<br/><br/>The food is nice. Decent portions and nice flavours.<br/><br/>Nice place to stop by for good service and good food.
Carlo C.
Favourite Italian Restaurant by far in Auckland, great Pizza and Pasta. U will be surprised the price is reasonable with great customer service and ambience. Thats why we keep on coming back for more!
KBoy
Yeah yeah bloody awesome food aye. I like olives and oil. Ravioli ravioli give me the formioli. Order the Penne Carbonara it blew my blimin socks off.
K
I always abuse their lunch specials! Its just cheaper meal but great quality pizzas and pastas.<br/>I thoroughly enjoyed dining here with my family.<br/><br/>Pros:<br/>- Excellent friendly staff, top notch with all smiles although they are so damn busy.<br/>- I would say amazing food.<br/>- Energetic ambience.<br/>- Surprisingly although it is always packed here, it doesn't take that long to acquire a table.<br/>- Manager/boss is always on the floor, they keep things flowing to deliver to customers.<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>- Price will be more higher for dinner time.<br/>- In case where there are no table inside the restaurant, you will have to sit outside.<br/>- Can be noisy.
Anneliese Longstaff
Archie's is my favourite restaurant in Auckland! It's my go to place anytime I don't know where to go. Always get the margarita pizza, delicious crispy cheese and good cheese to pizza ratio 😋 only complaint is that the service isn't always to friendly but the amazing food makes up for it

If you are in Newmarket and want some Italian food, Archie's is the place to go. I am surprised every time we go there on how busy they are, but somehow can always find you a table. To be honest I have a pizza every time we go. I can't resist those wood fire pizzas and the thick balsamic you can freely spread over your dish is to die for. Staff is friendly and fast, the ideal place for a quick dinner before going to the movies

I took my girlfriend here last Friday as a treat before she went on holiday, all the waiters/waitresses where Italian (I'm guessing) aswell as the owner/manager being Italian, it really give off an atmosphere of being in Italy itself, the food was exceptional, we waited longer for the drinks than we did the food, it had an authentic Italian taste, which is something you'd expect, the only complaints I have where that the signage isn't the best unless you know exactly where it is, the entrees where far too big to be called entrees, given their size they could have been mains themselves and the food seemed rushed out, though it still tasted really nice we had barely finished our entrees and our mains where already at our table, and too me personally, I don't think the overall experience justified what we paid, though that's just me, but I would recommend Archie's to anyone looking for a taste of Italy, on a side note the manager was very apologetic in the rushed food, which is always nice to hear from any manager/owner.

On a Friday night 4 of us with time to kill in Newmarket walked up the road from the noisy pub on the corner where we couldn't hear ourseves speak to Archies. Enjoyed the pizza to share and 2 pastas, a rissotto, and a steak. Everyone happy with their meals and the service. BYO an advantage.

I love Archies. I really do. For their food mostly. Archies is a great place to go on a sunny afternoon for a cheeky drink and a delicious pizza or pasta dish. Their food is truly beautiful. <br/>I've been to Archies several times now and have realized that a sunny afternoon is the only time to go. On a sunny afternoon, you can sit outside and have a bit more space to really enjoy your delicious meal and the company you may be with. The times that I have been for dinner (on a Friday & Saturday night) have been absolutely hectic - they try and squeeze as many people in as possible until you're basically sharing a table with the rest of the restaurant. It can get very noisy & unpleasant & you eventually start to just feel like a giant dollar sign, and that's it. Most of the staff are quite friendly and attentive, even on a busy night, but the couple who appear to be the managers (maybe even the owners) are often very cold & rude. <br/>I'll definitely still go back as I love the food, and I would recommend a visit, but I'm going to stick to going on a sunny afternoon when it's not too busy.

Have had takeaway from here twice in the last couple of weeks. First time was great, food was good, portions were good. Second time was disappointing. Food was still great but the portion size was less than half the first visit. Literally had 5 pieces of tortalini for $24.50

Archie's is simply the BEST! I've been coming here for over 8yrs and it's still the best Italian I've had in Auckland.<br/>It's a family friendly restaurant with great food, reasonable pricing and quick service.<br/>The dough and rolling pin they give the kids is perfect to keep them entertained until your food is served.<br/>I look forward to dining here for many more years to come.

Wife and I went here on Saturday just gone, daughter joined us a little later. The food is really, really good and the service here is very good as well. The young man who looked after us was very pleasant and seemed to know all the answers wish is always nice. We ordered, lasagne ( veggie),seafood dish, and a chicken dish.all were very nice and very good value for $15. We will certainly be returning.

There was a family group dining here with young children too. The woodfired pizza's were very good indeed. Mine was ordered for me so I have no idea its name, but it was mainly mushroom, and ham, very yummy indeed. Everyone seemed to enjoy their pizza or pasta dishes.<br/><br/>The keep the young diners happy, the staff brought out small dough balls and rolling pins to keep them amused. Shame I got there too late to play with them too, maybe next time !<br/><br/>I am looking forward to going back again soon.

We went here last night on a busy Saturday night and despite not having prior reservation, we were gladly accommodated. I was pleasantly surprised by the dimly-lit cozy ambiance with the wood fire pizza oven as the focal point and the aroma as we entered made me twice as hungry. We ordered Diavolo pizza, (which I can't get over until now how fabulous it is), Fettuccine Tuto Mare (by all means one of the best seafood pasta I've had, the scallops are divine) and a friend ordered Seafood salad which she also can't stop raving about - all in big generous servings!!! I'm so glad we've found this authentic Italian place, super value for money! Will definitely come back! Michelle Jariel Francisco

It was appalling from the off when my lemon and lime drink came with 10-15 inexcusable lemon seeds, which one could choke on. I ordered a chicken fettuccine which the menu promised would come with garlic, fresh herbs, olive oil and parmesan. There was not a hint of garlic. There were no fresh herbs. The entire dish tasted of nothing and what's more, was drowning in a lake of olive oil. Friend's pizza was also mediocre at best. An all around disappointment.

I remember walking through New Market and seeing this restaurant across the street and seeing the huge plates they give out everytime my mum and I went to go pick my sister up from work. I eventually got the chance to try it out and OMG i am in love with most the dishes there.

We walk past here every Wednesday and always see them busy. Never knew what the fuss was, so thought we'd finally try them out.<br/>Service is fantastic - our server was bubbly and friendly, and great at small talk!<br/>Food is brought out quickly. They're always standing nearby with a pepper shaker.<br/>They have balsamic cream sauce that you can help yourself to, which is delicious.<br/>We had a Prawn Risotto and a Home-Made Tortelloni and both were very wholesome and fulfilling.<br/>Great place, will definitely come back again.

Well this place was our only choice as we just reached our hotel late after a long 16 hour flight, they were the nearest and open till late. Hence we didn't have great expectations but we definitely we surprised <br/>What I ordered:<br/>Fettuccine Tuto Mare<br/>It was pasta with sea food <br/>Man, it was filling and tasted good.<br/>We had a beer along with the food n it was a perfect meal after a long long day<br/>Taste 3.5/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/>Cleanliness 5/5<br/>Quantity 4/5<br/>Value for money 3.5/5

We use to come and eat but not anymore<br/>Waste of money and almost one hour wait for food and taste like water. Chef looks not really dont know about how to cook meat and service is sorry too.

I came here after school one day with a group of friends, while in uniform of course. Servers were extremely rude to us and made us wait outside as well as asking us to move further away as we waited for our order - which took forever. Although they did not explicitly mention it, it was blatantly obvious their lack of respect for us was because we were high school students, as people who came after us, received much better service. The pizza itself was delicious but the service and lack of respect has put me off this place. Please sort out the attitude of your workers.

I can't believe I haven't loaded a review for Archies yet. Archie's is my local. I have been here so many times I can't even count. When I have that crave for a really good spag bol or magherita pizza, this is where I go. The food has been consistent throughout the years and to make it even better they do a lunch special. Add on some fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic and life is complete. The only reason why I didn't give them a 5 is because the service can sometimes be a little inconsistent but other than that the food hits the spot every time!

Went with kids for lunch on Monday. It's a very busy restaurant. The kids were given a dough each to play with while waiting for the food. They had fun for sure. I ordered the eye fillet with potato mash. The beef was so tender and was cooked to perfection. Salad was a bit try but it tasted good after adding the balsamic vinaigrette to it. In general, it's a nice Italian restaurant. One thing that i dislike is lack of spaces.
P L
Been here exactly twice on the advice of friends who raved about this place. Both times had a pasta dish. Was a little let down, both the pasta sauce (seemed watered down) and pasta noodles were not to my liking. and the presentation was not to best either. <br/><br/>Looking at the reviews, I will be back once more to try the pizzas the next time I happen to be in Newmarket+craving pizza since alot of the positive reviews on this site correlate with pizza consumption.
Hyerin Jo
Had a past, risotto and pizza which can say basic of the Italian. But they was not really good taste. Just can say not bad? Seasoning is quite important at cooking but they didn't any season to chicken so it was just chicken meat and any specialised recipe to sauces. They just know how to cook pasta and risotto but nothing special than other people can cook.
Julia Zou
Personally not a big fav on Italian food but this place definitely exceeds my expectations. Came here on a rainy day, but the restaurant was full of people. I ordered the Fettuccine Pollo. The pasta was very creamy but not to the extent you will feel sick and the chicken meat was very soft and flavoured perfectly with mushroom. For the price you pay and the portion given during lunch hours, it's definitely worth the price and experience.
Sneha John
A divine chicken fettuccine! The pizza was good but wasn't exceptional. Great vibe and was quite packed on a Friday night! Will be back!
Donna&Shane
We came here for dinner... Got 2 pizzas and 2 pasta dishes. The risotto was nice and full of chicken and mushrooms, the Tutto Mare fettuccine had a good selection of seafood and the fettuccine was fresh... the wood fire pizzas are definately worth coming here for.... But the tap water not so much.

Amazing place. Lives up to it's name with the "Best pizza in the world". Service is perfect, food and drink have reasonable prices for their quality, however seating could be a little more organised. Tables are a bit too close and you might find other customers bumping into your chair.
Maria F
Best of the best. Never have had a bad meal here, have always been seated and served promptly, and servers are always friendly. Pizza and pasta are both amazing, and extra parmesan/olive oil on the side is another great touch.
Daniel
Good environment, nice food. But it was very pricey. <br/>Personally I've never had Italian food before and this left a good impression. However I wouldn't want to pay that price for Italian food. <br/><br/>It looks like a really nice place to take a girl on a date :) <br/> <br/><br/>Edit: Went again with my girlfriend this time and again. It's a nice place for lunch and dinner

Reliable italian. Visited with my family. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. The owner was particularly good and his customer service was noteworthy. We have since had a meal at our home delivery was free. Great on a cold wet weekend

Great food. Nice restaurant and friendly servers. Working my way through their menu. My favourite so far is the shrimp salad dinner. Shrimps cooked well and nice salad accompaniment.
Danny
I dropped by Archie’s during their lunchtime hours for the $14 pizza special. I’m pretty sure you won’t be able to find better pizza in Auckland for this price. I went half Diavolo and half Pollo e Pesto. Both were fantastic. The Diavolo was refreshingly spicy, littered with salami, oregano and tomatoes. The Pollo e Pesto was my favourite though – here’s a pizza where you can taste the individual ingredients and just how well they go together. The toppings on the pizza were generous, the chicken was succulent and the pesto tasted very fresh.
Karen Gu
💟Really nice place. The fresh ingredients and special flavor for each dish!we get three dishes and all very satisfied ! Especially the pasta named Fettuccine tuto mare!! Recommend!

Had birthday dinners here and I am so glad I did. Archie's has such a wonderful atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff. My friends were pleasantly surprised by how large the food portions were and how delicious the food was. There were a couple of issues with orders on both nights but that could have been due to miscommunication when ordering. Regardless, the issues were dealt with in a professional and generous manner. Very impressed with Archie's and will definitely be back for more. Thanks for the amazing service and food 😊

Catching up with a friend in Newmarket, we ( aka myself ) were in particular mood for pizza. We decided on Archies because of their large layout, plentiful seating and bustling vibe.<br/><br/>Archie's has an excellent lunch menu and for $15 you get a wide range of Italian dishes to choose from such as pasta, pizza and their special of the day.<br/><br/>I had the Chicken Pollo Pizza and my friend had the seafood pasta. What really surprised me was how large our meals were. My pizza had a decent amount of chicken with generous cheese.<br/><br/>For my friend she had enough left over that it practically looked like another meal. Her seafood pasta was full of prawns, mussels etc. <br/><br/>Showstopper: the amount of seafood and meat given were excellent. The service was attentive and our waiter always made sure we had full glasses of water.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+. Tempted to come back for dinner!

Came here for a family dinner and had heard how amazing the food was! We ordered chicken pasta, seafood pasta, pizza and salmon. The meals were good some thought really good! I though it was pretty bland..plus the service was pretty bad - the girl assigned to our table was grumpy and just disinterested. The tables were squashed very close and being a busy night was loud..hence very hard to have a conversation. Sadly I wasn't impressed! :(

Not a big fan on Italian food. My daughter love it. <br/>Ambience 3.5<br/>Food: 3<br/>Service: 3.5<br/>Price: value for money <br/>Overall: 3.5<br/><br/>We had seared calamari is good<br/>Pizza is pretty average<br/>Pasta is ok too<br/><br/><br/>

With a name like Archies, I was expecting a burger or milkshake bar, or least Betty and Veronica prancing around, but no - I get an Italian restaurant? In the spirit of all good Italian street restaurants there is plenty of custom and vibe and we were pulled in by the infectious fun that vented from this venue. Service very friendly, and my Diavolo pizza was fabulous but not hot (chilli and spicy salami please??), the crust and other toppings were perfect however, am definitely keen to try out some of their other variations.

I came here today with a friend who has been before she was saying that it is her sisters favorite place to come in the area. My meal was enjoyable and I was happy that they offer the pasta and pizza in gluten free even though I couldn't see any mention of that on the menu. I had the penne pollo which was lovely and creamy while my friend had a pizza which truly looked amazing. The staff were pleasant and the prices were really reasonable. I would come back again as it was great value for money.
Christian
Really good for value here. I am not if its really authentic Italian as many of the dishes have a bit too many ingredients for me. I still prefer the simplicity of real Italian affairs. However, their dishes could easily satisfy a hungry stomach.
SS
I've heard great things about Archies for some time now and no doubt gave me some pretty high expectations... <br/><br/>Staff are quite friendly and are quite knowledgeable about the menu. We ended up grabbing the pollo fettucine and the grilled seafood salad. <br/><br/>I loved the seafood salad! It was filled to the brim in fresh seafood and for only $15, I couldn't fault it. The fettucine on the other hand wasn't very nice. Not seasoned enough and waay to eggy. My italian didn't rate it very high and left quite a lot of it.... <br/><br/>Overall, I enjoyed my experience and probably would come back if we were around ;-)
Joli Wong
I am impressed and surprised with the quality of archies pizzeria. Although, they have a lunch special of only $15 per meal, the quality of it did not suffer because of the price. Pasta and pizza were well made, there were a general amount of seafood and chicken as well. Well done, keep it up.
Noor S (noorinfoodistan.wordpress.com)
Do take me seriously! <br/><br/>Not having halal meat around, the only option I was left with was something in seafood. The thin crust "Salmon pizza" was something I tried for the first time n it was just amazing!!!! OMG! I wish I could get to taste such pizza at my place!<br/><br/>The service was friendly n courteous.
Emma Patricia Katili
The pizzas are all really delicious and i love the pasta here as well. My favourite however, is the seafood salad. It's half seafood and half fresh vegetables. They give freshly grilled clams, mussels, shrimp, crab and fish fillets on top of an array of fresh greens and tomatoes. Any seafood lover should definitely try this salad.
Josh Burton
I was really looking forward to Archies - heard great things about it. Unfortunately I ordered a gluten free pasta and what I got was not gluten free, despite the waitress confirming my order. Very disappointed!
Anna Fern
An authentic Italian restaurant.  I've been to both lunch and dinner time.  If you want to save some money come during lunch time - it's so much cheaper but the quantity of food is almost the same as dinner time.   <br/><br/>I really like their pan fried seafood salad and the prosciutto/mushroom pizza. My friends tried their risotto and they said it was very delicious. <br/><br/>This place is quite small and can be very noisy.  So if you want somewhere quiet, this is not the place for you. Other than this, this place is worth a visit.
Aleana Fernando
Went here for lunch and I was quite satisfied overall.<br/>The prices were quite reasonable since it was the lunch menu. The portions were very good especially for the penne pollo that I ordered.<br/>The service was fast and the staff were very friendly and efficient. <br/>The pasta was really nice but slightly bland, but they had extra Parmesan and other things to make it suitable for my taste buds.<br/>The pizza was good but nothing too special.<br/>I would definitely come here again during lunch or dinner if I am feeling for some Italian food.<br/>
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
I am a long time customer for Archies, love the fresh made pasta and pizza. All staff are very friendly and love the smell from the woodfire pizza oven. My personal favourite is the fettuccine tuto mare, fresh fish, scallops and prawn! If you are not a fan of seafood you should try Penne polo !
Rubyn Park
Really good food, my friends and I like to go whenever we feel like Italian food! The portions are pretty decent and the pizzas are so good!
Lissy Fehnker
Nice pizza - amazing. But... You need to be prepared to what a long time! They are really busy and only have a couple of guys doing the pizzas so takes about 30-45minutes (for two pizzas). Went there for the first time last night and also unfortunately another let down was the rude what seemed to be manager - she was quite rude towards me when I asked where my ginger beer was (had ordered it 25 minutes earlier) and seemed to be giving all the other staff A hard time which was a bit sad to watch. Didn't smile at all at customers. Apart from that our waitress was lovely and pizza was nice but a few improvements is needed.
Winnie Luo
Perfection.<br/><br/>I have been coming here for many years, ever since their lunch menu was $10 up until the $15 lunch menu now.<br/><br/>The lunch is above and beyond in terms of value for your money. There are alot of options for just $15. The dinner here is also amazing, the steak is to die for!<br/><br/>The pizza here are all freshly made on order and you can really taste the difference. The pasta is perfection every time. Always perfect! The salads are also amazing and the serving sizes are generous.<br/><br/>There is no fault with the authenticity of the food here. This place makes me skeptical about trying other Italian places!<br/><br/>The service is good, food comes quickly and the owners here are also amazing and very passionate about their restaurant.<br/><br/>I would definitely recommend this place and continue to come back again and again to get my Italian food fix!<br/>
Thegreeats
Come here for lunch ! They have same menu pretty much for $13 :) used to be cheaper but prices steadily increasing<br/>Their pizzas are better than their pasta I feel. I had their fettuccine and it was bland which is odd because the other time it was perfect. Seafood pasta was very yum however<br/>Always quite busy<br/>Love the owners Italian accent!<br/>If you're around in new market during lunch have a visit !
GothicMetalFairy
I have been here twice now and find it to be a generally good place to eat. The food is nice and the portions are good for the price, more vegetarian options would be nice but they do have a decent amount already. The only problem with this restaurant is because it is so popular it is usually really busy and can be extremely loud to the point of not being able to hear your dining partner speak clearly. Also being seated outside near the road can be sort of off putting. The staff are generally nice, however forgot to remove the onion from the salad, as I am allergic that was a issue. Generally this is a great place to go for a dinner with friends or colleagues, perhaps not with a partner for a quiet romantic date.
Flay Loo
Went many times, love the pizza and pasta, the service was ok, however it wasn't so nice when we did a recent visit. Food waiting time is long but acceptable. Still love the place even need to drive all the way to new market. Service needs some improvement.
Sam Papworth
We came here today (Sunday) for an afternoon lunch around 2:30pm. When we arrived the outdoor seating was almost full, so definitely best tor reserve a table as we had. <br/>For drinks we ordered a sea breeze cocktail, Bellini cocktail and 2 x Peroni's. The beer was a good price ($7.50 each) and the Bellini was very nice and a great price too ($11). At first glance the cocktails seemed a steal at around the $10 mark, however it appears this is due to the almost non existent amount of alcohol they use! The sea breeze tasted entirely of juice and ice and you couldn't taste any vodka whatsoever.<br/>For mains we ordered the cajun chicken salad and the penne pollo. The salad was lovely, had loads of chicken on and the green beans were really tasty. Only downside would be that it was quite oily and wet even with having the vinaigrette served on the side. The pasta (chicken and mushroom in a cream sauce) was good without being great. It was tasty however the sauce was quite thin and even though there was an abundance of chicken the quality was poor (thigh meat not breast meat). <br/>Service was average if not slightly on the poor side. It took a while to be seated as the waitresses were stood around but didn't notice us. Our waitress wasn't overly friendly and after she spilled one of the drinks didn't replace what was lost. However we did like the fact that after finishing our mains we weren't rushed into getting the bill and could still sit for a while in the sunshine.<br/>Overall our experience was quite average although certain parts were very good (the salad and the seating environment mainly). We would be back to try the pizzas on the menu. Archie's is a nice place to sit and have a meal, and at lunch has great deals, so maybe we just had a one-off average experience.

Wonderful restaurant.  Owner recognized us from our first visit (which was quite a while ago) and acknowledged us.  Happy, friendly and efficient staff who clearly liked children.  Im a bit surprised that a couple of other reviews said the staff werent that great because I completely disagree.  Family oriented owner, staff and restaurant.  Excellent food.  I ordered the mixed seafood salad............DEVINE!  The place was quite busy yet we were in and out in 1 hour and 15 minutes which suited us because we had young children to get home to bed.  We didnt have to wait long for our meals and desserts.  We didn't feel rushed or anything though.  Not a cheap eat, but was reasonably and averagely priced.

The food are really good but the toilet is terrible. There are only two toilets available (1 male and 1 female) and the toilets are not clean properly and ran out of toilet paper when I was there on Saturday afternoon. It kinds of annoy me when I need to use toilet next door (other restaurant) to avoid queuing on Friday evening. (when we were there for dinner and drinks)

Went to Archie's for dinner and dessert but pummelled the pizzas and pastas hence no pictures. A corner restaurant located in Newmarket, this small, humble, homely Italian eatery has been here for as long as I can remember. <br/><br/>The menu has pretty much all of your favourite Italian dishes - Really good wood fire pizzas and filling pastas on offer. We had the seafood and salmon pizzas which are quite large, perhaps enough for 1-2 people. The main thing I want to harp on about though, is the chocolate tart with white chocolate sauce! Oh my goodness, if you came here just for that, you would not be disappointed! Wait times aren't usually that long because there are so many places to eat close by that people don't really wait, but it is usually always pretty full anyway. Wait times for the food however, is quite long. Service staff aren't all the nicest I've come across, but the owner is so nice.. you win some you lose some. <br/><br/>Overall, a cozy little restaurant that leaves you feeling full and like you've had a little taste of Italy.
Natalia NatNat
GO FOR SALMON Pizza! 🍕It's so delicious! They tend to put a lot of spinach.. Everywhere.. Everywhere... The chicken pizza is ok, a bit dry.😕 it was a no for my boyfriend and for me. Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere and felt like I'm somewhere in Europe for a moment

My 4th time here. Best western food in town. Especially their pasta and pizza. well cook and delicious. Would come here more often hahah :)

Last night was my second time at Archies and it was even better than my first. The pizza he is great! The salmon pizza was so yummy, very generous with the toppings. There was so confusion over my drink order, I thought vodka and orange juice was fairly straight forward but a second waitress quickly remedied this. <br/>Love the authenticity of Archies, all the wait staff are italian and the place has great vibes. Will definitely be returning!<br/>
Sophia Ignateva
Amazing food! Their homemade lemonade is amazing and definitely a must try! Sadly the have no vegan options, and only a few vegetarian/dairy free:( Prices are okay, very good deals for lunches!
Maia Churichkova
Haven't been here in ages and returned for a quick dinner tonight. Amazing as usual - lots of staff on when we first arrived and I was surprised. But by the time we got our mains the whole place was packed - good to see they were well prepared. Service attentive - made sure water was filled up etc. We had the bruschetta with red onion to start, and a diavolo pizza and spaghetti bolognese for the mains. Delicious. Arrived in good time too. Too full for dessert but did get coffees (which were perfect). Good job guys! Definitely recommend.
Jessica Li
I love this place! The food is so fresh and yummy and the service is great as well. The portion sizes are really decent too. The only thing is that they are a bit pricey for a student budget but it's a good place for special occasions. I would definitely recommend :)

Italian is one of those cuisines I get an almighty craving for - so it has to be good!<br/><br/>I was so happy with my food I took half of it home for lunch the following day hehe<br/><br/>I had the chicken breast with polenta and roast veges (can't remember what they call it) soooooo yum! I highly recommend.<br/><br/>The service was so quick - even with a full restaurant. Everyone was really friendly and we always had our water glasses topped up (bonus points!)<br/><br/>Really cool atmosphere with the wood fire pizza oven - fun to watch and so good to eat!!! <br/><br/>I will definitely be back next time I have a pasta craving and would recommend to others 🍝😍

What a hidden gem in Newmarket. Love the pizzas as they are just the way I like them - thin, crispy, crunchy base which isn't laden with tomato sauce. Prosciutto pizza as well as chicken & pesto pizza are amazing. Service is great and so are the staff. Grab one of their lunch specials to enjoy authentic Italian.
Taran
Good service, yummy creamy pasta with a big serving and the chocolate brownie was too good. Decent portion food and dessert, so you better be hungry. Although the brownie was too good but I couldn't finish it as by the end there was a bit too much food for me.
Ed
The pizzas here are pretty decent but on the small side. They are not cheap at all. Seriously they are some of the most expensive pizzas you can find. Still popular though.<br/><br/>Food: 6.5/10<br/>Service: 3.5/5 <br/>Ambience: 4/5<br/>Value: 2/5<br/>Overall: 16/25

It's my second time went to there have dinner,it's a very popular restaurant. And there have the most delicious and traditional pizza I have eaten in Auckland.
Annie Bananie
I love their wood fried pizzas. The boss is super friendly and welcoming. The seafood salad is really good and so is the chicken pollo. And the pesto pizza! Awesome lunch specials always packed

A must for all Italian lovers. Great vegetarian selection. Can't go wrong with the cheesy garlic bread and an alla margherita pizza. Last time I was there it was disappointing to be sat in this dingy corner next to the bathroom- it didn't have the best aroma- and there were flies buzzing around. Would be great if it was a bit cleaner! I'll be back but probably for takeaways.
Rebecca Gray
Had dinner here a couple of Friday's ago, cheesy garlic pizza to share, delicous! Big for 2, easily shared with 3! I had the seafood pizza as my main, it had white fish on it which I've not seen before, very yummy and big pizza I thought.  My beautiful flatmate had steak, big portion again and apparently an awesome bit of red meat, melt in your mouth, med/rare!  We were so full we didn't have dessert, however I had a short black, BEST COFFEE EVER!!!
Nandini Chand
Lunch deals are great here, in love with the vegetarian lasagne. However last time we went here they had forgotten one of our orders, we had ordered a starter and unfortunately had to remind them of our order once we had nearly finished our meal. Apart from that great place to have lunch.
Louise MacNaughton
I give Archie's a 5/5 because it is consistent and you cannot beat the $13 lunch specials! We come here for a cheap filling lunch and we are never disappointed! I don't think I would pay full price for the dinner menu.
Kelly
Great food, great service! All the food is made with love, really tasty and reasonably priced. All pizzas and pastas are amazing but my fav would be the seafood salad. Portion sizes also very generous.
Samantha Chow
Only been there a couple times but is now one of my favourite places! The choices are limited but who even cares with the quality of pizza and pasta they serve. Especially for the price which is not bad at all! Every time I go near Archie's it's packed, and for good and obvious reason. And even so, I haven't had to wait long for my food to come at all. The staff are nice and always on to it. Excited to come here again.
Brittany Montana
We went here a couple of weeks ago and I was very pleasantly surprised. The service was very attentive, and food was great value. We started with the tomato and mozzarella bruschetta, oh my it was good and the serving was extremely generous. I followed this with the Pasta Tuto Mare, the seafood pasta, it was really good value for $14 (lunchtime special), seafood on the cheap is always a gamble but they pulled it off. The woodfired pizzas also looked devine! I recommend Archies for a casual lunch, I would go back!
Javier Yebenes
Archies never dissapoints. Service is always outstanding and there's always a very good atmosphere.<br/><br/>Waitresses are very pleasant and personable and every table is very well looked after. Portions are big and the servings of meat or seafood generous, unlike in other Italian restaurants in town.<br/><br/>The pizzas are made fresh and pasta is always a good choice. Great for couples, family and friends.<br/><br/>Archies is always a good choice.

.can never go wrong at archies.<br/>From a fluke accident we stumbled across this little slice of heaven during a lunch date me and my husband were impressed from the get go !!<br/>Have become regulars at Archies & always manage to have a quick convo with Archie himself . Kid friendly too with Archie always giving the kids dough to roll out for their own pizzas .<br/><br/>'il cibo è delizioso'<br/>- grazie ❤

This restaurant is a bright beacon of hope for the Newmarket dinning district. The location is awesome tucked away from the bustle of Broadway but still very convenient. The menu is absolutely delicious for those moments you're looking for a light weeknight meal that won't demolish the bank account. I had pizza and it was nom nom! The best part about going to Archies would be the staff. They're the friendliest group of people I've meet in ages! Definitely worth a visit 😀!

It really is Newmarket's best kept secret. <br/><br/>On the corner of Davis Crescent Archies Pizzeria is an afternoon sun trap and home to some of the best pizza's in Auckland.<br/><br/>With a menu that is divided into three sections, Archies offers Italian pasta, pizzas, and meat dishes and salads.<br/><br/>Newmarket's best Pizzeria cook their Italian classic in a wood-fired oven which is situated in the middle of the restaurant. behind the counter. A personal recommendation is the Polo e Pesto pizza. A light pesto, pine nuts, shredded chicken and zucchini completed on a thin base - having had this choice countless times you can trust me when I say this pizza is like no other. <br/><br/>Something I also like on their menu is their Fettuccine Polo. With fresh chicken breast, mushrooms and parmesan cheese with a creamy sauce this option is one for the hungry. <br/><br/>Additionally if you are on a tight budget or just looking for something small, Archies Pizzeria offers $2 wood-fire bread with olive oil. A great companion with a glass of wine in the afternoon sun. <br/><br/>With excellent customer service, plenty of seating options and food to die for, Archies Pizzeria ticks all the boxes for me. It is hands down my favourite restaurant in Newmarket. <br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds  #challenge

Delicious Italian food, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. Decent variety of dishes in the menu.<br/>Has become my favourite place for lunch on weekdays.<br/>I will definitely keep being a regular guest there.

Back in Newmarket and in the mood for Italian. Glad to have gone in to Archie's because it was just great! Archie was there when we dined and he entertained everyone with his quirks and energy. Pizza is oh so yummy! Their staff are very friendly too. I noticed they were giving pizza doughs and rolling pin to children, so they can have a play while waiting for food. So cute!

Archie's rocks. Certainly the best pizzas I've ever had and it's here in our own back yard. Archie is a good operator. Pizzas are full flavoured and fresh.

Archie's is always bustling at lunch time, you just can't go wrong with the $14 special, such great value for money! <br/><br/>Their pizzas are large and the bases are perfectly thin and crispy, however I personally prefer the pasta here. Even the lunch servings are huge and my favourite Penne polo fumigato (chicken and mushroom penne) is creamy and delicious. They offer the option of mix and matching any pasta type with any sauce which is fantastic. <br/><br/>Service is friendly and fast and the atmosphere inside the restaurant is inviting, they have a huge wood-fire oven which is pretty cool.

Came here for a late dinner one night. <br/><br/>The seafood salad had a generous amount of seafood!! The pasta tastes good but nothing special <br/><br/>The service was great! I loved how chatty the manager was!

If you're wanting a great Italian pizza with crispy base and flavoursome toppings in cosy surrounds this is the place! <br/>It was a chilly winter evening when we called in for a Pollo e Pesto pizza fix! Generous amounts of chicken and pesto scattered over the thin crispy base We enjoyed a glass of smooth Italian Red with it. And as a bonus we had Dean Martin music serenading us! Truly transported us back to Sorrento.... <br/>Wonderful service and pizzas are consistently good. <br/>

My favourite Italian restaurant! Big servings, great pasta & pizza! Best to dine at lunchtime for their 15$ mains. We had the Carbonara, Tuto Mare & Neapolitana with our pasta of choice, all delicious! For pizza, Diavolo pizza the best! We also order pizza with our toppings of choice! The let down for me is the Lemonada drink which taste so flat.

oh my lordy lord, if anyone's looking for a money worth and satisfying pizza fix, Archie's is definitely the place to be! I'd been wanting to come here for months and am so glad I did. For $15, my friend and I shared one of their pizzas ( we were actually so full afterwards) <br/>. We had ordered it to be half the Funghi flavour and the other half, the chicken polo one. both flavours were amazing! With extremely fresh ingredients and a thin and crispy base, Archie's did not disappoint at all. Am hoping to return soon to try everything on their menu :)<br/><br/>UPDATE:<br/>Came back here two weeks after the first visit ( I CANT STAY AWAY) and had tried the salmon pizza this time round, LOVED IT! the pizza was once again amazing with a crispy crust and the freshest ingredients. Second time round actually tasted better for some reason, gj archies!
Kelly
Favourite place for my pasta fix! Always a bustling eatery when I visit so the food must and is worth the buzz! The lamb shanks are a decent portion too, both pasta dish and lamb shank meal were $15 each. Great deal for such a big delicious portion 😁<br/>Well definitely be back for more!

One of my Favourite place to have Italian food. Was due from a long time and had a great time. Wood fired polo e pesto Chicken is my favourite. A must go place ..Amazing place | food | people .
Craig
Never disappointed when I go here for lunch or dinner! Been here multiple for pizza only and its always perfect! Lunch is incredibly good value and the place is always busy! even on a Tuesday lunch when i last went. Only negative is that the staff always look a little grumpy but that doesn't affect how great the food is
Priyanka Victor
The seafood risotto is great! Its creamy and cooked fairly well and the pizzas were packed with flavour! The staff were average in their service but i think that depends on which meal you go for as the lunch staff seeemed much friendlier than dinner. But it could have been a one off. Overall, the food is good and if you're with good company then its even more enjoyable!
Vyvie Kyle
Four of us were welcomed well and we sat outside. Even though it was a cold night we didn't notice because we were comfy and warm under the heaters. The service was excellent! The 4 staff who attended to us were well presented, professional and sociable. Our food was superb and our guest from overseas enjoyed the meal and evening too! Thanks Archies!

This past Sunday my colleagues and I went to Archie's for a dinner. After we were seated down a young tanned girl with long brown hair came to serve us. She looked either ill or hungover, and after she approached us it was safe to say hungover as her body odour was unbearable. I own a restaurant myself and find this extremely unprofessional and unhygienic. The food arrived after a wait and I wasn't even shocked when i found a hair on the food that looked as though it was from the hungover staff member. I so hope this is a one off, or if it's not perhaps you can hire better staff. The food was alright but nothing special, we wont be coming back here.
Troy Norrie
I've been here 3 times with family. 2 kids are 2.5 and 5 years. They go out of their way and give dough kids can make pizza base with. The pizza's are great and Italian authentic. Well worth a visit.<br/>

Italian food is what I wanted, so Italian food is what I got!! Enjoyed a delicious $15 lunch special of an alla margarita pizza. We also ordered the spaghetti for just $15 as well which was filling. Service was friendly although we had to wait 45 mins for dessert - tiramisu was incredible but our chocolate soufflé had collapsed when it was served. Still a great atmosphere to dine. Will return to try their dinner menu

Came here for lunch, met up with a few friends, tried the Fettuccine Polo, and one of my friends tried the Al Salmone Pizza. I was not disappointed with the pasta, chicken was not dry, and the pasta was fantastic, tried the pizza as well, loved the base, it looked simple, but the flavour combination worked really well, quality way above your local Pizza Hutt. Nice place to meet up with some friends and share some food, and chat.
Supreet Kaur
Gosh this place is magical. The staff are involved and attended to us even though it was busy. The food did take a long time to come to us but was worth all the wait. The pasta was melt in the mouth delicious. I got one to take away as well!
Jannyannyanice
Experienced Archie's twice this week. Takeaway pizzas once, and dine in pizza the other. While both experiences were high quality, I think the pizzas were more memorable for me. Their recommended prosciutto pizza is a must try. Friendly service as always, and love the atmosphere.

I just love this place!<br/>I had pizza and pasta, both very very good!<br/>And price is very reasonable and specially I was impressed how much seafood I got in my seafood pasta! I love it so much :)<br/>Stuff were very friendly and kept offering water which I loved it about !!!<br/>We will go back again!!!! MUST TRY!

Archies has a really good setting and amazing service. They supply olive oil, parmesan and balsamic cream at the ready. Ordered a chicken, pesto pizza and seafood fettucini. The pizza tasted delicious, especially with the balsamic cream. Only downside was they didn't use buffalo mozzarella which I particularly enjoy. The pasta was good. Being a seafood medley, the fish and scallops were perfectly cooked, though their mussels and prawns were a bit overcooked and the prawns still had some shell attached which was a let down. I also wished there was more mariana sauce which would've complimented the pizza better. A well deserved four, only minor issues for an otherwise amazing dining experience
Margaret
Pizzas & Pastas are all $15 for lunch. We ordered Al Salmone and Fettuccine Tuto Mare. The 2-person-table is too small, it even can not place 2 dishes on the table. However the foods are fine and substantial. OMG finally I reached 140 words... So that's all... P.S. Actually the seafood pasta is really good...
Foodiesfeast
Enjoyed a delicious margherita pizza and seafood spaghetti here for lunch a few weeks ago. For $15.00 (each) serving size was large and food was tasty. Service was quick and friendly<br/> Will definitely be back again.
Sylvielle
<br/>This was today's lunch place which was highly recommended by a friend and I thank her for taking me here!<br/><br/>We ordered two pastas; Fettuccine Tuto Mare ($15), Penne Polo ($15) and Homemade Lemon and Lime Juice ($3.50) for the drink.<br/><br/>The sauce in Fettuccine Tuto Mare was a little on the sweet side considering I always tend to go for more of a savoury flavour dishes, but it was quite nice. The Penne Polo on the other hand was just perfect. The penne was springy, chicken was very tender, mushrooms were juicy and the creamy sauce made it all work in harmony. Their lemon juice was pretty good too, having that zestiness bursting out of each sip.<br/><br/>Although the staff were not the most friendliest, they were on their toes and seemed to do their best at serving each table. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I will definitely visit again.<br/>

Came here for lunch because I was craving some good pizza, and Archies did not let me down! I've been wanting to try their pizza for a while now, but always get dissuaded by the amount of people that turn up for lunch (a lot!!). We went around 1pm (when it wasnt too busy), were greeted and seated promptly, and given water and menus and ordered not long after. It didn't take us long to get our $15 pizzas (as per the lunch special) and we were suprised with the efficient and friendly waiting staff. I had the diavolo which was a chilli based pizza with salami and mozarella, which was very well balanced and had just the right amount of flavour. We also had the chicken pesto pizza - which definitely needed the balsamic cream to give it an extra zing. This was a good experience and am likely to eat here again!
Cherie
Lunch specials are great value, <br/>authentic flavour always brings me back. My favorite is the penne mare tutto, hearty tomato sauce with generous amount of assorted seafood, it always hit the spot!
Rojas
Great place for pizza and drinks with friends. The salmon pizza was fantastic; simple but a great combinations of flavours. They have great, attentive staff here who were more then happy to make recommendations.

Archie's sits at the curvy end of Davies Crescent in Newmarket, along a row of equally enticing restaurants. We visited on a very busy Friday afternoon, just an hour past noon. We were lucky to get seating easily, the place was packed, and we didn't have a reservation. We were quickly handed the menu and (thankfully!) glasses of water.<br/><br/>Archie's special lunch menu is quite popular for patrons where pizza, pasta, and salads are $15 each. If you don't fancy these, mains are available if you're willing to pay extra. <br/><br/>We split a Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi pizza, Diavolo pizza, and a tomato based penne pasta with bacon which name eludes me, between the two of us. Obviously, Archie's is known for their pizzas but oddly enough the hero of the meal for us was the pasta (so good I forgot the name). Although the pasta didn't taste like it was made in-store, we loved it because of the adequately sour tomato sauce which had a little bit of a kick, and of course who wouldn't love a bit of bacon fat on pasta sauce.<br/><br/>The Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi is a good place to start, if you can't decide on which pizza to get. The lunch menu can be quite overwhelming, which is a good sign more often than not. I would also recommend the Diavolo if you're happy with a bit of a kick on your pizza. Quick tip: Archie's can split a pizza for two flavours.<br/><br/>If Archie's was a block away from where I work, I'd probably be here for lunch at least once a week. Although I'll probably have to annoy a coworker to split a pizza with me. <br/><br/>Service was fast and attentive and thankfully not the in-your-face kind. We took home three slices of pizza which were still good two meals after, and this probably proves the quality and the freshness of the ingredients they use. <br/><br/>The pizzeria claims to be on par with the best in the world, but is it the best pizzeria in Auckland? It will all boil down to preference, of course. For me? I don't think so.
Jeff Bocking
Very rude staff, food is okay but I found it very un professional when I heard a girl swearing on the phone behind the counter and stating a meal from the menu was "sick". Thinking this was a one off bad experience I have archies another chance. Food was ok again but once again a staff member was rude, a young man slammed the glasses of water on the table and had a look on his face that this was the last place he wanted to be. Get take aways if you would like to eat here as the staff and a disgrace. <br/>
Paige Eriwata
I love the ambience of this place, it's always busy and loud - as an authentic italian restaurant should be. Unfortunately this can often mean slow service or certain items on the menu being sold out. The food is quality and cooked quite well, it's the perfect venue for a group gathering however you may prefer a more personalised service for date night.
Kevin Newton
The food is always good. I have dined in and eaten takeaway and the food is always top quality. Being tucked away, it is easy to miss unless you know it is there, but make the effort and you will not be disappointed. The pizza is astounding and the pasta is delicious. My only concern is that sometimes it is difficult to get a seat, but that's a good thing as a testament to its popularity.
Kwan-Lyn
LOVE the Tuto Marre pasta here.  And such great value for lunch!  Served with a generous selection of seafood including mussels, prawns and scallops.

Absolutely fantastic - Archie's Pizzeria is possibly our best restaurant find in 2015 thus far. It's hidden away in a corner in Newmarket, and at first glance there isn't much that sets it apart from the rest of the eateries on the same row, which probably explains how we spent over 2 years living in a neighbouring suburb without having discovered it. I really wish we had found it sooner, though.<br/><br/>The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon, and for good reason - many of the pizzas, pasta, and mains are going for $14 each! And they aren't some minified and watered-down versions of the dinner mains either - they were, as far as I could tell, the real deal. The Prosciutto Cotto e Funghi was brilliant, the base crisp and fresh out of their wood-fired oven, and the toppings of prosciutto, mushrooms, mozzarella and tomato were generous. And their seafood pasta was delicious, the texture of the spaghetti a perfect al dente, perfectly accompanied by the white wine and homemade tomato sauce.<br/><br/>All in all, both dishes that we tried were an absolute steal for $14, and the portions were more than enough to satisfy our ravenous appetites. As an added bonus, even the service was good - our drinks and food arrived quite promptly despite them being very busy. AND if you need an additional reason to go, you get to watch them put the pizzas in the wood-fired oven.<br/><br/>I look forward to coming back as many times as possible. :)

Archie's Pizzeria is a real gem hidden in Newmarket. The service is great and the food is yummy. They claim to have the best pizzas in Auckland - and that is definitely true. These thin-crusted pizzas are tasty and crunchy. The pasta's also extremely scrumptious especially the prawn linguine, which was probably my favourite pasta so far.<br/><br/>And for the desserts, they're a great way to end your meal here. I would recommend the Tartin Tart, which is served with vanilla ice cream. The flavours go so well together and the taste is great.<br/><br/>More details and pictures here: <br/>

First time at Archie's Pizza and have to say was impressed with the service and food ! They had an awesome $14 lunch menu and with the beautiful day outside couldn't complain! My husband had the lamb shank special and I had the ham pizza and it was so yummy ! The manager/owner went beyond as he saw I was pregnant and asked if I wanted the ham cooked as I can't eat raw deli ... Awesome service !! Would highly recommend

Love Archies! Amazing food, my fave is definitely the seafood salad.  I am not a fan of pizzas but I could never say no to their pizzas!<br/><br/>Been a fan for 2 years now and they are busier than ever.

Archies is so popular! <br/>Lunch special for $14! We ordered the penne pollo and salmon pizza, nice! Really nice, I mean it! the pasta was fantastic! And the pizza was super, i fell in love with their pizza even though I wasn't a fan of pizzasssss!! <br/>The amazing food + the sunshine = a good day! Yeah!

Recently went to Archies Pizzeria with my family for dinner. Really busy & authentic. Service was good, pizza was amazing (especially the Chicken Pesto & Proscuitto) and it was BYO.
Live To Eat
Decent food, reasonable prices, generous portions. Summer cocktails aren't good though, can't taste any alcohol in it.<br/><br/>We ordered lamb cutlets as our main, it comes with a good 5 pieces, with yum mashed kumara and generous portion of salad (not like in some restaurants that only put 2 leaves on your plate)
Samuel Davis
Went here a few weeks back. Ordered some home made stuffed pasta (don't remember the exact name) . Best pasta I've ever had. And I've tried a lot of pasta. The owner checked on us making sure we were being served in a reasonable amount of time. He clearly cared about his restaurant and it shows in the quality. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

I went Archies with my aunty in a nice afternoon. It was sunny but a bit windy, so we chose to sit inside. The environment was so cool that we felt comfortable to sit around the table. <br/>The pizza tasted quite different from the others, maybe because it is baked in some special way. There was a large amount of cheese on the top, and the meat was also great. <br/>What impressed me most was not the pizza but the salad. It tasted amazing. There were several different seafood like fish, prawns, mussels and shells (some other things that I cannot tell from :-D). The salad itself was full of vegetables and the price only valued $14. Wasn't it fantastic? <br/>Hope to come back and try some new things next time!
Danny
I dropped by Archies during their lunchtime hours for the $14 pizza special. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to find better pizza in Auckland for this price. <br/><br/>I went half Diavolo and half Pollo e Pesto. Both were fantastic. The Diavolo was refreshingly spicy, littered with salami, oregano and tomatoes. The Polo e Pesto was my favourite though - here's a pizza where you can taste the individual ingredients and just how well they go together. The toppings on the pizza were generous, the chicken was succulent and the pesto tasted very fresh.<br/><br/>The service was polite and wait was relatively short. Will definitely be returning here soon!

Have been going here for years and the quality and taste and excellent service remains the same. Reasonable pricing too. Would Highly recommend

Have been coming here ever since I had to visit the orthodontist in New Market during school years (roughly 7 or so years). We would always order the Diavalo pizza, was our favourite!! Have had a couple of different meals more recently including the eye fillet, seafood pizza and the prosciutto pizza. Will definately come back! Service & atmosphere is brilliant!

What can you say about the Newmarket institution of Archies Pizzerria. Good service with nice food. The pizzas are light and breezie with a light base. They could add new menu items but they do what is on the menu well. Recommended
Jason B
This is like a little piece of New York hidden in the streets of Newmarket. Totally worth a visit for casual friday lunch with work mates or that intimate dinner for two. I found this place amazingly refreshing from it's simple menu to it's friendly and easily accessible staff (always a good thing!). I had a salad with chicken and it was well flavoured as well as one generous size. My work mates ordered pizza's and most of them couldn't finish them. They were massive! Totally coming back here. Pricing was great and service with a smile. Add it to your "to do" list.
David Arthur
I have walked past Archie's a few times and seen the board stating they have the best pizzas in the world. I dined in on Sunday and I am sorry to say that my pizza was the most bland, tasteless pizza I have ever had in my life. BUT, the atmosphere was good and the staff were great.
Dougal
The authentic looking pizza you see in the photo does not represent the pizzas they make!!! I only went there because I saw the picture and concluded that Archies made authentic Italian pizzas. Sadly, I was presented with a very cheesy pizza that bared no resemblance to the picture that has been posted. It must go.<br/><br/>The pizzas weren't bad for kiwi pizzas though.<br/><br/>I got the Magherita (for me, Magherita's cannot be surpassed) and they are a bit too over eager with the amount of mozarella and then included boccocini on top - completely unecessary. There was also a small piece of chopped ham on my pizza, I am vegetarian, but luckily not too fussy, so I simply put it to the side of my plate, but they should be more careful with vegetarian pizzas.<br/><br/>For lovers of real authentic Napoli styled pizza, don't be fooled / tempted by the photo!<br/><br/>Just sitting at my desk after eating my lunch and the pizza has left a pretty bad aftertaste. You have been warned!
Shivani Prakash
Such nice food! The service was amazing too! It's a small place but I like it! The owner's personal approach with the customers is just astounding! I am always impressed when I go in there. The waiters and waitresses are always really attentive. I have been in here on numerous occasions and I have never experienced bad service! It's always been perfect. Love the food and service! Definitely worth going! :)
Sarah
Worst pizza ever!! Bought pizza alla putanesca takeaway today for 21.50 but it was not worth the money! Got 6 slives with 6 slices of tomatoes a handful of olive say 10 and few capers on a soggy too much cheesy with pretty much no sauce at all. Think Dominos or pizza hut is much better than these pizzas. Definitely not coming back!! And will not recommend anyone to go here. A total rip-off!!
Katja
Nice seating outside, but what a rip-off. I ordered a seafood salad, and got a mesclun salad mix just like the ones from the supermarket with two fresh mussels, the rest was pre-frozen fish and seafood mix from a packet and one pre-frozen scallop, they charged $25???. I also ordered a home made lime and lemon drink, which was just tap-water with lime-cordial. The toilets were filthy.
Jamie Chiang
Came here for lunch with 4 other friends to celebrate a friend's birthday. We took outside seats as it was a hot day and we knew we were going to be quite loud with all the celebration. We were immediately seated and given water, menus, a bottle of olive oil and balsamic sauce. The waiter we had was very patient with us, who were very indecisive. <br/>We ordered 2 pizzas and 2 pastas and it was just enough to feed 5 people. The pizzas were Al Salmone and Pollo e Pesto and the pastas were Penne Tutto Mare and Fettuccine Pollo. The waiter was very attentive and asked if we would like for the pizzas to be delivered first and then the pasta since the table that we were seated at barely allowed for two plates to be put on. He also asked if we were sharing the pizza or not, which was nice.<br/>We waited for some time, perhaps around 20-30 minutes for our pizzas to be delivered. The Pollo e Pesto was very delicious, though it could have cut back slightly on the oil as my slice of pizza dripped with oil when I picked it up. It was very flavourful and I definitely recommend it. The Al Salmone was pretty nice (or perhaps I'm just super bias towards salmon) but the salmon was fairly overpowering and I couldn't taste anything else. The salad that came on top was a nice touch. The crust for both pizzas was absolutely delicious to the point where I could eat it by itself with no problem.<br/><br/>Once we finished our pizzas, the pasta dishes came. At first we thought that the servings were rather small, but after digging in we were proved to be wrong. The Fettuccini Pollo was average - a bit less in terms of the chicken and mushroom pieces and a bit too heavy in terms of the cream. The Penne Tutto Mare was definitely the highlight of the day. The pasta was cooked just al dente and smothered in delicious sauce. It was served with two mussels in their shells (made a slight mess when we went to eat it), a few pieces of shrimp with their tails (which I personally have nothing against because I love eating shrimp with their tail on), scallops, what I presume to be a razor-clam and very succulent pieces of fish. Overall the dish was very delicious. Again, I would greatly recommend.<br/><br/>Overall it was a pleasant first time experience. As we went for the lunch special, it came to a total of $48. The cashier was very willing to let 4 of us pay for one dish each despite the hassle involved. She also had a friendly chat with one of our friends who had gone there last year with her classmates. I will definitely visit again and I hope to try more dishes from the lunch and dinner menu; perhaps even dessert next time if it is available.<br/><br/>Thank you Archie's for a pleasant experience!
Nicola Owen
I've been going here on and off for the past 6 years. (On average, about 3x a year).<br/><br/>I love the food. I always order one of two things:<br/>Chicken Salad<br/>Pollo e Pesto Pizza.<br/><br/>So will only comment on the above.<br/><br/>Chicken Salad<br/>Cajun (like?) seasoning on Chicken tenderloins, mesclun, tomatoes, cucumber and asparagus. Balsamic vinaigrette. Generous Chicken servings. Very yummy and great to have when I feel like being healthy.<br/><br/>Pollo e Pesto Pizza<br/>Also very yummy. Chicken portions are good. There're also pine nuts, courgette and pesto. I wouldn't mind more courgette on my pizza though
Kerri Hurman
I've been here a few times and I simply love Italian food. The pizzas are okay, but I find that the sauces for the pastas are bland and stodgy. I wouldn't mind going there even though the food is average.<br/><br/>The reason for the poor review is that as I was walking by one lunchtime (I work across the street) I heard a passerby ask the owner where another restaurant was as they were lost. This other restaurant is literally beside Archie's but tucked away around the corner. I watched the owner look at the restaurant and then told the customer that they were around the corner, sending him the other way at a completely different location. I caught up with them and pointed out the restaurant. Not one dude at all!!!! Shame on you! Haven't eaten there since.
Jamie
Absolutely amazing, I got told about this place by a friend who was raving about it.. I can now see why.. The staff are great, the food is divine and really well priced.. I will be coming back every chance I get!
Karinne
AMAZING pizzeria! We walked up for lunch unsure if we could be accommodated with our dog but he approached us and said "table for 3?". Were seated and ordered lunch, and he brought our dog some water and even gave him a little treat of some bacon! The food was DIVINE, my pizza was perfect and the dough was crispy and light. My husband's seafood salad was garnering a lot of "mmm's" from across the table. GREAT service, friendly accommodating and will go back. Recommend!!!!!
Hannah Kerkin
My family and I are regulars at Archies and we love it every time! Although crowded sometimes (I think it adds to the experience) the service is always great and the food always delicious! Simple pizzas and very Italian!! Massive meals and great value for money spent!I always get the Penne Pollo Fumigato or a Alla Margherita and my boyfriend loves the Diavolo pizza! Even my Grandparents who are very picky love it! BYO also which is fantastic! Great location, everything YES! Highly recommend
Emily
Food 5/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/>Value: 4.5/5 for lunch<br/><br/>I love the pizza here! I always order the Al Salmone and it's simple but delicious! Even my mum who is a very picky eater loves it. We also always order the seafood linguine or pasta. They are very generous with the protein in the dish which I love!! It's always quite busy but lovely, and the service is quick. I've been here several times and I still love it.<br/><br/>I recently tried a different dish: the chicken linguine and spaghetti Bolognese. Delicious delicious.
Eat Places
went to Archies tonight. the restaurant was cramped, i ordered the prawn linguine. The prawns were so over cooked they were inedible. The wine list was awful bracott estate should not be on an Italian restaurant wine list. Spent $40 for one drink each and only one person to eat, terrible.
Claire Reichert
Went out for dinner with the girls, Great atmosphere, fabo food, was really impressed with the quick service. The portions were massive, and great value for money. will definitely be back again.
Dmitry
I liked the place. We met with our friends and had very nice dinner. Pizza was very good, fettuccine very tasteful. Good service. Thanks.<br/>It was very nice weather and we were sitting outside. My small recommendation - clean the ground. It was quite messy. Apart from that - no any problems.
Gus
Archies is our local Italian and it provides a consistently good dining experience. The service is always eager and well organised, led by the man himself. The portions are generous and well priced. I had the squid salad, the squid was tender and perfectly cooked. The seafood penne was very tasty with a light tomato cream sauce. We love going before heading to the movies and I am never disappointed
Raquel
Went there for lunch with work as it was my birthday. Archie came to take our drinks order which he asked if I would like Malibu in my pineapple juice as it was my birthday but I declined knowing I had to go back to work. We had our meals, all was perfect, then as we were about to leave he brought over Tiramisu with a candle in it, was really nice &amp; unexpected. I've been here alot &amp; would recommend the food &amp; the service - love it!

Looking at the past reviews on this place it made me realise how everyone’s dining experiences can be so different. Anyway here’s mine:<br/><br/>1st time at this place, charming owner greeted us in true Italian style, even handing out lollies to the kids afterwards and chatting to the patrons, a very nice touch.<br/> It was a Thursday night so quite busy inside and out. The atmosphere was great and to be honest so was the food. Ordered the bruschetta, diavolo pizza with pancetta, tomato, pecorino, mozzarella &amp; rosemary and prawn salad. The bruschetta was melt in your mouth, prawn salad generous in size and tasty and the pizza superb, the base thin and crispy and the toppings very good quality. The service was attentive and the food arrived in good time. The only criticism I really have is that the cashier did not ask how our food was or said thank you when I settled the bill. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and would recommend it.

My partner and I went to Archie's for the first time last night and we will definitely be going back there. We got there about 9pm and I ordered the seafood salad. It was fairly late at night so fancied something a little lighter. The portion size far exceeded my expectations and so did the taste. My partner ordered one of the pizzas and that was also pretty damn good. Both of us didn't want to leave any of our food even though we were so full. Really good service and definitely recommended

Archie's is my favourite place to go to lunch, with the lunch special at $14 being affordable. The meals are very tasty, especially the pizzas and the portion sizes are large enough. Archie himself is friendly and service is alright, the atmosphere of the restaurant is good, though usually quite busy. Recommended.

Had pizza and pasta with friends for lunch. It was great and portion sizes were generous. The waitress was super friendly and attentive.

I went to Archie's today - just as I have been for the past 5 years to make my usual order from the 14 dollar lunch special menu...I live in manukau and I alway make e special trip to come here and get our takeaway chicken pizzas as its a nice change from the usual. Being a loyal returning customer, after placing my usual phone order went in to pick up my pizza. "That will be 24.50 please" . I advised the lovely waitress that there was a mistake and I ordered my usual. She then calls the owner over, who is usually pleasant and full of smiles. He stalks over - grunts " you ordered the 24.50 large pizza" .<br/><br/>At this point I advise him there has been a mistake, and to my horror he says " we'll what am I going to do with this pizza!". I am so overwhelmed by his response, being a calm person instead of screaming the restaurant down and telling him exactly where he should shove his attitude, I walked out and left the pizza there. How rude - is that any way to treat a loyal customer who has only ever had good things to say and is has always been an ambassador of how great the food is. Service was not always great, but it was nothing to make the effort and actually write a review. <br/><br/>At this point I would have shrugged it off. And the he has the nerve to follow me to my car!!! What kind of behaviour is this - completely unprofessional! Are you going to record my number plate so you can charge an unpaid pizza that you messed up the Order for and refused to correct it?!<br/><br/>I will never EVER return to Archie's - the thousands of dollars spent over the years, and the thousands more to come - Archie was this really worth your pathetic outburst? Save yourself the grief and go down the road...even the service at McDonald's trumps Archie's!!<br/><br/>I hope you learn from this and never treat a customer like that ever again!!!

Dropped in for dinner at Archies after a movie on a Friday night. The ambience was good and waitress attentive. The food unfortunately was a bit of a let down. Had the tortellini stuffed with ricotta in a mushroom sauce. The sauce was so overpowering that all one could taste was mushrooom. Portion size was good just wished it tasted better. Also had the cassata and it wasn't very impressive. However, will surely go back to try the pizzas that seem very popular here. Overall it's a lovely place to have a nice quite meal.

I work in Newmarket and colleagues and I often meet there to have lunch time meetings.<br/>The lunch menu is fantastic, with generous portion sizes..<br/>Value for money and quality food.<br/>Wonderful service. Archie himself is a very welcoming host.<br/>Highly recommended.

Archie's is most definitely slipping.<br/><br/>They could not give us a white wine spritzer, despite describing exactly what it was (1/2 white wine, 1/2 sparkling water). They gave us a glass of still water with a splash of wine in it, which we sent back. After getting the same thing again, we gave up. Later we found out we were charged for two glasses of wine.<br/><br/>We were ignored by the wait staff for most of the night and had to wave one down whenever we could to get some attention. <br/><br/>The food was fine - nothing special. Perhaps a little expensive, but it is Newmarket, so this is to be expected I guess. Although, after receiving my rare beef salad and starting to tuck in, a waitress appeared at my shoulder with some extra beef on a saucer and tipped it into my salad without a word! Very odd!<br/><br/>Our plates were not cleared and again I had to wave down a waiter to ask for desert menus and then to order. We really shouldn't have bothered. What was described as a "French Chocolate Mousse" was really a chocolate fondant which tasted only of egg. As our desert was cleared we were not offered coffees, which we wanted, but actually had decided that it wasn't worth the bother. <br/><br/>In addition to this, the restaurant is over crowded with tables, very noisy, there were boxes of liquor piled up in plain view in the dining room, the bathrooms left much to be desired and we were freezing all night as we were seated by the door which I frequently had to get up and close as people left it open when they went through.<br/><br/>Seriously, don't bother.

Popped in after a movie. Ordered a pizza. Very tasty. Will go there again

Never been here for supper but I come here regularly for the $12 lunches. As a student, its really good because the food is lovely but the portion is good too. A huge fan of their fettuccine bolognase and I'm always stuffed after eating it! The service is also good, run by a family and Archie himself is always friendly greeting customers. I have always felt welcome here and once I also came here at around 5pm with some student friends asking for lunch menu and we were given it :D very happy and will keep coming.

Dinner on a Thursday night at Archie's Restaurant &amp; Pizzeria was pleasant, although nothing striking.<br/><br/>My friends and I were seated at the back of the restaurant which was a bit isolated from others but worked like a privated booth. The table and seats were greasy and we asked a staff to give it a wipe but she forgot about it. It seems that most of the floor staff were rather unfocused. There was one very dedicated foreign waiter but overloaded with work.<br/><br/>The food was great. Good taste, portion and average value.

This place was recommended by a friend.<br/><br/>working atmosphere observed was absolute chaos.<br/><br/>Ordered a pizza and garlic pizza. was told the wait time would be 20 minutes by owner/manager. Waited nearly an hour for food. <br/><br/>After waiting 30 minutes I heard him say to hold off take away orders. After waiting 40 minutes and having other staff approach me to ask me what I ordered. <br/><br/>An hour later I get my order. Explained to the manager I was not happy that I had to wait over an hour when told there was a 20 minute wait.... to hear him say not to do my order.<br/><br/>Owner/manager was arrogant and rude and still made me pay full price.<br/><br/>Pizza- soggy base. tasted ok<br/><br/>Garlic pizza- terrible! Cold, extremely salty and ZERO garlic.<br/><br/>Hells pizza over this place any day.

The pizzas are the best I ever tried! the lunch ones are cheaper, smaller and do have more bland taste but still they are very nice. <br/>The service is not the best - we did have order mix up couple of times there but the staff is very friendly!<br/>We had our daughter's birthday party there and we really enjoyed it - the owner and the staff done all they could to make it the best experience for the kids, from allowing our own deserts and providing cutlery to offering candles and singing 'happy birthday'.<br/>We enjoy coming there if we want pizza or just a lunch on weekend.

We were looking for a restaurant to dine just before our movie and we were lucky to stumble across a table at Archies on a busy Friday night with no reservation. Great ambience, filled with attentive staff. Ordered a chicken salad which was beautifully presented with fresh greens. Friends ordered a pizza which looked absolutely divine and huge! Will definitely be back.

After reading recent reviews I thought I better write about my experience. We visited on a Monday night, two adults and two kids on a recommendation from a family member. We thought the food was great and the service fantastic, especially with the kids.

Had a shocking experience here. We were seated outside- it started to rain and now one came to offer to move us inside. When I asked for this to happen it was like I asked to have a finger cut off. Staff were generally very rude. Food was crap- pizza lacked taste, minimal toppings, served luke warm. Expensive. Would never go again and would never recommend. I am amazed they have survived so long.

I work in hospitality and have to say, Archies has the worst service of any restaurant/cafe I have ever been to.<br/><br/>When my friend and I turned up, we were quickly seated by the owner, and given menus. After a minute or two, his wife came over and took our orders. We ordered two cokes, one with no ice, two half pizzas as an entree, and pasta each for mains.<br/><br/>The wife brought out our drinks, both with ice. I told her that I ordered a coke, no ice. She went back inside and came back out shortly with my coke, no ice. She didn't look too happy. After a long wait, we saw one waiter coming our way with 2 plates of pasta. He asked if we had ordered the pastas, we said yes but we had ordered pizza as an entree and we have not had our entrees yet. As he looked around as if he had gone to the wrong table, another waiter turned up with our pizza. The first waiter then went to another table and asked if they ordered pizza. Meanwhile, the waiter that brought our pizza put our pizza on our table and left. We assumed he was going to get us some side plates and cutlery as there were none on the table. Wrong. We watched him go inside and started clearing tables. I had to go inside myself and get them myself. Halfway through our pizza, we noticed no one had come back to enquire how we were, so we asked a passing waiter to please call away our mains. We finished and out table was cleared. Not long after, our pastas arrived. As the waiter was putting our plates down we asked for cutlery in case he forgets. <br/><br/>The pizza we had for entree was not that flash, for $12, it was very disappointing, and when our pasta arrived, looked bland, plain and very boring. <br/><br/>Not being able to finish our pastas, we waited a while before trying to get any waiters attention for takeaway containers. Two tables away, a waiter was taking an order from a group of three. We politely just put our hands up to get his attention to let him know we needed attention. He looked at us and called out "Just relax girls, I'm taking these girls orders as they have been waiting awhile." We thought his attitude very rude and most certainly unnecessary. So as we waited, Archies wife came over and asked if we needed anything else. We asked her if we could get some takeaway containers for our pastas. She said she would be back shortly with the containers. After she left, the rude waiter came over and asked how he could help us. We promptly told him that we had already been seen to. We watched the wife go inside, serve people at the counter and started to take food to other tables. Seeing that she had forgotten about us, I again had to go inside and get them myself. When I got to the counter, the wife just looked at me as if I was being difficult. <br/><br/>After paying our bill, we left and I told my friend that I would probably not be coming anytime soon. <br/><br/>Overall, the $12 pizza was not worth what we payed for and the $12 pizza was not worth talking about. Unfortunately I cannot leave the stars unchecked. Or type the fowl words in my head that I would really like to say.<br/><br/>I most definitely would not recommend this place to any of my friends.

I'm not going to review the food at this place as I have never dined there, and due to the attitude of the maitre d I am very put off ever going. We have dined twice now with freinds at the great little Spanish place 'Basque' next door. The first time, back in July, one of our group approached Archies &amp; was hustled inside by the man, only to realise that we weren't there. When he explained &amp; then asked where Basque was the guy told him he'd never heard of it! Last night we again arranged to meet freinds at Basque, and as they were accosted by this same guy in the street, they asked him where Basque is and he directed them in the opposite direction. They arrived late &amp; furious the the guy. I'm not allowed to say here what we all think of him, but there is no way ever that we will dine there.

THis place is great!!<br/>The staff are friendly and attentive. <br/>Customer Service all the way -top marks.<br/>THey have great lunch specials and well worth $10.<br/>I work in Newmarket and have tried several restaurants/cafe's etc.<br/>Alot of places try to pull off the $10 specials but it doesn't beat Archies!!<br/><br/>Archies is always tops!!! People in our company prefer coming here for their food and friendliness to their customers as well.

We made a reservation for 10 people at 7.45.... we turnded up at 7.30 to a compleatly full restaurant and a manager that kept telling us that they would only be a moment clearing a table... and an HOUR later we were seated! And that was only the start of it! Not only did we have to wait 2 HOURS for our food to arrive but we had to watch tables that arrived a substantial amount of time after us and takeaway orders leave before we had even had our food. This wouldn't have been to bad if we had a waitress asking if we would like another drink but no... the most a waitress done for us was full our beer glasses up with water and not even offer a complimentry beer after doing so. We also bought a cake in with us as it was a 21st birthday but by the time our food arrived at 10.30, the last thing anyone felt like doing was hanging around any longer as it was a tuesday night. Over all, the food was mediocre and the service was a disgrace and at the end of the night did the birthday girl (who was in tears by this stage might I add) get an apology? No she got offered the entree's for free...Wow. What a shame for a restaurent with such a good name and I know 10 people who definitely won't be returning.
Laura
We had a reservation for 10 people for 8:45pm .... when we turned up the restaurant was full and we were wondering where they were going to seat us.......... an HOUR later we were seated.... did i mention that this was for a 21st birthday dinner!!!!!!?? the food arrived 2 hours later!!! not impressed with the service .. the owner did not even apologise. They probley do really great pizza but the service and respond we got was a complete turn off. i would never go back and i am sure the other 9 people of the group would not go back as well ...... word of mouth can be very damaging :( shame on you Archies what a DISSAPOINTMENT.

Dined on the $10 menu on Friday with business colleagues - so wonderful! Went back on Saturday and still impressed. The bolognaise sauce was bland but the pizza and seafood fettucine outweiged that. Brilliant and buzzing place to lunch! The pizzas are to die for!

Here is an example of how a restaurant should be run. Surrounded by competition this place is always packed while others struggle. Get them in the door with cheap, simple quality food, good service and they just keep coming back and back and spending more and more. $10 a pizza, pasta, salad is awesome value and not one tiny sign of discontent from any of the staff if thats all you order and your free water is constanty being topped up. I felt guitly spending $24.00 for my wife and I but I will be back if i can get a table. A reference point for any restaurant anywhere to come and learn.

best pizza in all of auckland in my opinion. as an ex chief man these guys know what they're doing.

Archie make pizza as it is supposed to be, simple and beautiful Italian flavour in a wood fire oven, I have tried most of the flavours and Prosciutto definitely is the best. Another great choice for Pizza and Pasta lovers.

Came here for a quick dinner with my flatmate on a Sunday night. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived, but we managed to get table near the back. The atmosphere inside was romantic and bustling; it would be a great spot for a date night. <br/><br/>We decided to order just one pizza to share, since they looked quite large judging from tables around us. All the pizza's sounded delicious, but we ended up going with the Diavolo. The toppings were generous and the crust was perfectly crispy. I especially loved the bocconcini, which were balls of cheese on top of the pizza; too delicious! <br/><br/>Since we only ordered one pizza, it ended up being a really cheap meal. The service was lovely and the cashier was super suave and friendly; it really made for a great dining experience.

Archie's has been a family favourite for the last six years & the best Italian in Auckland in my opinion! Perfect for lunch as a shopping break in Newmarket - there's $14 lunch deals with generous serving sizes & if you're visiting during summertime then grab an outside table (outdoor heaters during winter). Dinner meals are twice the price but also twice the size and great for group shared dinners. Here's a list of my top picks from the menu if you're visiting for the first time - vegetarian suggestions (V): <br/><br/>Pizza - Diavolo or Margerita (V) <br/>Pasta - Penne Fumigato or Tortellini with Aubergine & Leek (V) <br/>Dessert - Tiramisu

This is my all time favourite place in Auckland :) I've had countless dinners here ranging from 2 to 25 people! The pasta is amazing. The pizza's are amazing! They also have a lunch deal for $14 which is totally worth every bite! It fills up fast though so you might want to have either an early lunch or a late one but other than that you're met with friendly staff, great food and hot guys cooking the pizza. All over great experience :) Everyone should check this place out and if you're in the area and don't want to go in alone REPLY HERE! I am always in the area working and my girls at PreLOVED BOUTIQUE are always keen for Archies and meeting new people ... if you're not a crazy serial killer :)

Felt like having pasta after watching A Trip to Italy, so found ourselves at this bustling pizzeria.<br/><br/>Although there were a couple of tables free near the door, we were told to wait for a few minutes for other people to leave, so we could be seated by the window.<br/><br/>The vege lasagne was piping hot, tasty and came with a large portion of salad, which was good as we were also considering ordering salad.<br/><br/>The seafood pasta was less enjoyable, as the pasta reminded us of cheap Diamond supermarket pasta and was cooked past al dente.<br/><br/>When we went to pay, there were some items on the account that we had not ordered, but the owner simply asked us what we had and charged us for that.<br/><br/>Would be keen to return to try their pizza, which looked good on other tables. Also liked the fact that they provided a parmesan shaker.

I have only been to Archie's for Lunch before, however there $14 lunch menu is fantastic value. There is always a plethora of people sitting both out in the sun and indoors at Archie's and for good reason. <br/><br/>I have tried both a pizza and a pasta from the lunch menu which were both divine. The meals are large enough for lunch and some leftovers if your not a huge eater. The pizza is dinner plate size and there is a nice selection of pasta as well as a few salads for those who are looking for a lighter option. <br/><br/>While Archie's can be a little noisy given the popularity it is definitely a great place to pop along to for lunch. While I am not sure if I would go there for dinner or not - the ambience is lovely however I believe the menu is a bit pricer. The lunch menu is definitely worth a shot at $14. <br/><br/>Unfortunately I didn't get any photo's from the visits I have been to previously. Next time I visit Archie's I will make sure I get some photo's!

One of my favourite italian restaurant! Price is great as well as food. Check this place out at lunch times with special price for only lunch time. My favourite dish of this restaurant is rare steak salad with their balsamic sauce. They cook the steak really nice. It just melts in your mouth. Always great service!

Archies features some good ungreasy pizza as well as some of my favourite pasta! I always enjoy dining at Archies as it fills me up and their staff are lovely!

Don't go to Archie's if you want to catch up with people you haven't seen for ages! Like any good pizzeria should be its small and packed and bustling and noisy and FUN! The pizzas are outstanding and you can watch them being prepared and cooked in the open ovens The menu has all the classics but the seafood risotto is particularly good as is the prawn linguine <br/>Archie himself is usually playing host - definitely good for business. Go midweek for a quieter meal but it will still be busy Go on a Friday night if you line it loud!

This pizzeria is definitely one of my favourites, only had great customer service and delicious foods each and every time! The owner himself is often hanging around and serving customers (which gives you such a great sense of humility from him as well as making you feel very V.I.P.). Firstly, the food is great, I have no complaints, the portions are large and the quality is top-notch. The spacing is large - you can also hold many group dinners (as long as you book in advance! It's so popular). Parking is also a breeze, literally a few steps away from a building carpark which charges cheaply as well. The lunch specials are very affordable yet the quality persists still.<br/><br/>Secondly and perhaps more importantly, the service is excellent! The atmosphere is bustling, the staff are attentive - especially Archie himself. The man that runs the show definitely knows how to run it, his passion and his friendliness makes you feel like you've visited this restaurant from the day it was open, I definitely love how he treats his customer. <br/><br/>I love this place, awesome food, awesome people and definitely one of the most interactive and involved owner I've met in a restaurant. Keep up the excellent work Archie, and I wish you the best for your brilliant business.
