Review Gerome Restaurant - Auckland Central

Always a good reliable lunch here. Pictured is the lamb, chicken, eggplant and meatball option (forgot what meat it was), all from the lunch menu. I recommend the chicken!! The house made bread and dip is also delicious so fresh, def order some to share. 🤤🤤

Located at the heart of the popular Parnell Road, this Greek fusion restaurant is an awesome place to enjoy the beautiful Greek cuisine. The bbq eggplants, meatballs, cauliflower as well as the desserts are all delicious. There are beautiful seatings upstairs and downstairs including big tables for big group. The service is wonderful, staffs are professional and experience. Happy to come back to try other dishes.

The dishes were delicious and well served. The highlight was every dish and experience with one low light being the market fish combination. We didn't quite like the combination.

Great food and restaurant. I do think it was slightly overpriced for the portion size but seems to be in line with Auckland. Nice!

Came here for a family dinner and had a lovely time. All the smaller dishes were 10/10, with the highlight being the harissa chicken - absolute perfection. The mains didn’t hit the spot compared to the starters but were still nice.

Absolutely gorgeous authentic Greek cuisine. Presented very well with all ingredients on each dish complimenting the others in flavors and textures. Very swift service for such busy environment. Food was Absolutely to die for. Lamb meat balls, tarakihi fish, hummus, homemade pita, squid and calamari all were cooked perfectly. A must try place if you were in Parnell.

Service was impeccable! The waitress ensured we always had water at our table and ensured I was never without a drink. She was attentive to our table and clearly took pride in excellent customer service. The Manager approached the table once or twice with such grace and service. Highly recommended this place based on the lovely decor inside and the amazing service you will receive. To top it off, the food was fantastic! Great place to take someone to impress them!

Amazing! One of the best restaurants ever! Service was awesome, food was next level! I seriously couldn't compliment this restaurant enough. I would 100% recommend going for a special occasion or something!

Gerome is an excellent restaurant with a varied menu and delicious food. We were a group of 15 people, the service was excellent, and they took good care of our guests who had food allergies. A very good evening; highly recommended.

Stunning food! Beautiful interior. Spacious and good for large groups. <br/>The beef cheek dish was delicious - flavours on the plate made this something special when eaten together. <br/>Service was exceptional. It was refreshing to have a waitress who not only knew the food, but could make recommendations and was passionate about what she was serving. <br/>While waiting for our ride we spoke to the maître d'? He was a real treasure. Unpretentious, genuine. Some of the best staff I've come across in Auckland. It makes a big difference to your experience. <br/>Highly recommend Gerome for a special occasion, or to just treat yourself. <br/>Exceptional.

We thought this place was OK but we didn’t have anything that wowed us. We had the pita bread with taramasalata (probably the highlight) with the prawn dumplings that lacked seasoning and the eggplant which was nice but not amazing. We then shared the lamb which was overly rich and the Greek salad. After our first course the waiter swiped our remaining pita bread away that we were saving for our main which was mildly annoying. The main needed carbs with it to balance the richness as it was served alongside a rich skordalia. We then had the Loukamades Greek doughnuts for desert which was one large donut that was cold and therefore tasted a bit stale. The restaurant was really noisy, I think fine if you are in a group but not if you are wanting a nice dinner as a couple.

I really liked the place. The atmosphere is very nice. The prices are good. The food is so yummy. Tabouleh dish was yummy. The fish was devine. The fries had too much seasoning on them though. The lamb was very soft and tender, according to my friends.

I came to Gerome with my boyfriend and we had such a great time dining here. Firstly, the atmosphere was beautiful, the decorations were cosy, well-organised and fancy. The service was great and efficient, food came out quickly and we were recommended the pork cheek which was beautiful. We got the pita bread with hummus, lamb shoulder and pork cheek between the two of us.<br/><br/>The pita bread with hummus came out first and the pita bread was so soft, warm and airy. It was probably one of the freshest tasting bread I have ever had and I highly recommend you get this when you come to Gerome. I know I will definitely be re-ordering this next time I come here. The next dish was the pork cheek, the sweetness from the dates, yoghurt and pumpkin puree helped cut down the fattiness of the rich pork cheek and it went so well together. Highly recommend this dish as a starter as well. Lastly, the lamb was alright, a bit on the dry side but the lemon carrot tzatziki helped moisten it a little bit. Lamb is extremely hard to cook to perfection but I think Gerome did a good job.<br/><br/>Overall, I was super impressed by the food and service from Gerome. I will definitely be back and will safely say it is one of my favourite restaurants around Auckland!

Dined at Gerome for my 21st last weekend. Beautiful venue! Very spacious place - great if you are planning a group event. We had a group of 14 people and were seated in a private air-conditioned dining area. However, I was quite disappointed with the lack of proper communication by the staff. I booked four weeks in advance to make sure all arrangements would be smoothly accommodated for. A majority of my guests including myself only eat halal food, so prior to booking I had a thorough conversation with the restaurant about serving halal chicken and the person on the phone confirmed it is halal. Then on the day we are told by our waitress that the chicken is not halal. We were both confused and after some discussion with the manager, we are informed that Gerome’s chicken supplier sometimes supplies halal chicken and sometimes doesn’t (quite bizarre?) and moreover, they do not know which batch they currently have. This was very embarrassing for me as the host of 14 guests - having already told them it is halal! We had already given our orders and then I had to apologise that it was not actually halal and we had to re-order all of our meals. Most of us resorted to the Falafel Souvlaki - this was delicious with the unfortunate experience aside. It was a hot day and the AC was not working very well in the private dining area and the option to connect our own devices to play our music also did not work. These matters were more so trivial than anything else but nonetheless should be fixed by Gerome. I hope that Gerome takes this criticism on board constructively to resolve the confusions around the meat they are serving and begin serving halal chicken. It is misinforming to say on your website that you cater to all dietary requirements yet cannot perform on the day and disappoint a large group. I hope this also improves the quality of the information their staff are providing to people who are inquiring about something so fundamental to their booking. Overall, disappointed with lack of appropriate catering and misinformation but we had a good time. Waitress was lovely and tried her best so hats off to her!

Had dinner here today. We had the prawn manti, lamb sheftalia, barbecued eggplant, fried kaitaifi prawns and the barbecued chicken thigh. Everything was really tasty. <br/>For dessert we ordered the loukoumades and the galaktoboureko. The galaktoboureko was really great but the loukoumades was a bit disappointing. There was an essence in it (almond maybe) that was quite overpowering. We couldn’t even finish it. <br/><br/>4 stars because of that one dessert and the service when we first entered was a bit slow, they took so long (not busy at the time) to come to take our drink order that we didn’t feel like having one and therefore just ordered our food. Once the food started coming out the service picked up. <br/>The prawn manti is a must if you’re going here.

A different experience that is definitely worth!<br/>Amazing restaurant when it comes to space and costumer service.<br/>Truly a different concept with the old and new of Greek cuisine walking together.<br/>The fried prawns, the barbecued eggplant, the lamb meatballs and the 500g rib eye it is a must eat.<br/>Highly recommended

Came on recommendation and will be back. There were a few dishes that we weren’t too familiar with but the staff are very knowledgeable and helped us out. <br/><br/>Food is delicious; beautifully cooked and seasoned, but very rich and saucy so be sure to get a glass of ouzo with your meal, it will cut through beautifully.
Suprizzle Fo Shizzle
Absolutely perfect food.<br/>We got the lamb sheftalia (meatballs), prawn manti (dumplings), barbecued eggplant, chicken skewers and kefalograviera.<br/>Fresh, flavourful and great value for money.<br/>Beautiful decor too, 10/10.

Came here after a friends recommendation and already can't wait to come back. As a couple we shared a small plate, 2 large and 2 sides. This was more than enough but I really wanted to try the lamb and the fish. The pumpkin skordalia popped up on a couple of dishes and it was beautifully smoothe and smoked.. it was amazing. My partner is not a pumpkin fab but did ate it without worry. I would have squeezed in a dessert but we were running short of time. I really liked it here. We were day in 2 high seats which fellow dinner guest said felt like child's high chairs but I didn't feel that way. I can't wait to come and bring my work team here

Gerome's is impressive. The chicken souvlaki was amazing - Gerome's menu is abundant and everything looks appealing. Great atmosphere and staff are very attentive. This is one of Auckland's best restaurants - no doubt.

One of a kind food and it is always amazing, been here about 3 times and they never disappoint. Have tried quite a few things but the mains are great

My partner and I had the best dinner date ever last night!! From the ambience, the atmosphere, the lovely stuff and most importantly, the out of this world, packed with flavors, undeniably delicious food served at Gerome. Writing this review just makes me want to go back immediately for more! I cannot fault any of the meals we had.<br/>Prawns 10/10<br/>Eggplant 10/10<br/>Lamb 10/10<br/>Fish 10/10<br/>Desert 10/10 - orgasmic level<br/>On a side note though - their restrooms looks like something plucked straight out of magazine. I love it 😍 lol<br/>Nothing but love and high praises for Gerome ♥️<br/>

I went to this place around 6 p.m. on Thursday with six other people.<br/><br/>Atmosphere: 4/4<br/>The place is spacious and well decorated.<br/><br/>Food: 3/4<br/>I shared lamb shoulder ($37) and bbq pork ($34) with another friend. For desert I had loukoumades ($15), this was the highlight for me.<br/><br/>Service: 4/4<br/>Friendly and genuine service.<br/><br/>Cost: 3.5/4<br/>For the portion and quality. The place was pretty decent. I was so full after.

We realised we hadn’t actually gotten to experience much good Greek food in Auckland at all, so we were pretty psyched to hit up one of the cities best-rated restaurants serving gorgeously gourmet Greek food. And boy, we were not disappointed. ⁣<br/>⁣⁣<br/>𝐊𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐚 🧀 🍯 This tangy, firm sheep’s cheese was reminiscent of a fat slice of halloumi, but with the extra punch that sheep’s milk provides. It came drizzled in gorgeously heady honey and a fat peppered fig balanced on top, a wonderful sweet and savoury dish. 9.5/10⁣⁣<br/>⁣<br/>𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐟𝐢 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐬 🍤 These fat, succulent, juicy prawns came wrapped in kataifi, thin crispy strands of pastry similar to filo. Dip these bad boys in creamy cucumber tzatziki and the surrounding layer of sweet honey and you have a taste and mouth-feel explosion. 9.5/10⁣⁣<br/>⁣⁣<br/>𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 🍆 The eggplant itself was melt-in-your-mouth perfection. It was some of the most tender, succulent eggplant we’ve ever tried. It was elevated even further by the delicious creamy, citrusy tahini dressing, juicy fat raisins for a dash of sweetness, and herbaceous almond gremolata, the chunks of almond which added the crunch to the dish which just made it 👌🏼 9.5/10⁣⁣<br/>⁣⁣<br/>𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚 🥙 We chose the pita as a side, and honestly I still think it might have been the star of the show. These fat, juicy, doughy slices of risen pita were grilled and sprinkled with olive oil, salt and rosemary. Honestly I can’t stop thinking about them- hands down the best pita we’ve ever had. 10/10⁣⁣<br/>⁣⁣<br/>𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐤𝐨𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 🌰🍫 These are the Greek equivalent of deep-fried donuts. They came with a chocolate “Nutella” syrup, chunks of hazelnut, honey, and a fat scoop of coffee ice-cream. Unfortunately, the dish sounded spectacular but didn’t match expectations. The sauce tasted like cheap chocolate syrup and overwhelmed the dish, the ice cream lacked flavour, and the donuts themselves weren’t crispy or fluffy enough. 6/10 Still, as the only disapppinting part of the meal, overall we left very

4 of us went for dinner here last night.  Service was excellent - friendly, knowledgable waiter who wasn't intrusive; Food was excellent and the recommended portions that the waiter suggested were spot on.  Highlights were the Sheeps cheese entree with figs and honey, the Lamb shoulder main and the Cauliflower main (which we had as our shared vege).  Definitely worth a visit

Rainy tuesday night but i decided i had to go. Buttermilk pitas were divine. Not typically a fan of olives but they wernt too bad. Tried the harissa chicken with potato skordalia, absolutely amazing must try. Finished with pork and lamb manti with a beautiful hung yoghurt.<br/><br/>Decent wine and cocktail list beers only a few. Great staff great venue<br/>

Loved the ambience, the service is also great.<br/>Had the lamb shoulder and market fish, the lamb was a bit bland for me, but the fish was delicious.<br/>Overall, a great place to pop in for some greek craving.

My word. What an absolute gem. Been here 4 times and every single time I get lost in how good this place is. The buttermilk pitas are insanely good. Can't recommend Gerome highly enough. Can't fault the food or service. Truly superb!
Jenny Kan
nice setting and great selection of the drinks not too many choices on the food menu. We had the pork cheeck egg plant and prawns from the small dishes with lamb shoulder from the large selection. the egg plant was interesting and personally loved the lamb shoulder wish it could have been a bigger portion.
Sabrina Chae
Loved the food, service, and the ambience. They have a cozy upscale ambience however I took a star out because the heavy door and the dim lighting with small menu wasn't elderly friendly. However the food and the service was on point! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.<br/><br/>The food was great that I only managed to remember to take 3 pictures. The rest were gone by the time I remembered.
SpoonMe
Absolutely loved the dinner I had the other night here! <br/>From ambience to service it was spot on! <br/>The food here is made to share so you can try so many different flavours. Highly recommend the cauliflower dish and chicken dish I had. I can’t wait to come back here and try some other dishes ❤️

Hands down one of the BEST culinary skills I’ve encountered in Auckland. <br/><br/>We ordered most of their menu to share between 4. From entrees we got: Lamb Kofta, Prawn, Pork Cheeks, Grilled Eggplant. <br/>From mains we got: Barbecued Pig, Barbecued Lamb Shoulder Kleftiko, Thigh of Chicken. <br/>We got broccolini for sides and also Greek Yoghurt Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse for dessert. <br/><br/>Been having a lot of outstanding meals lately, with another highlight at @geromeparnell . We tried 80% of their menu between 4, some not displayed in these photos. <br/>- Prawns (9/10) were an exciting punchy bang to start the meal, with amazing textures of crunch and juices bouncing around your mouth. <br/>- Lamb Kofta (8/10) very bold flavours and very herbal with mint coming quite strongly. <br/>- Grilled Eggplant (9/10) soft, juicy and melts in the mouth, it’s grilled and coated with a layer of cheesy goodness at the perfect flavour levels. <br/>- Braised Lamb Shoulder Kleftiko (10/10) one of my personal favourites, it’s insanely soft inside yet crispy on the outside, with a coating of mildly sweet glaze. What won for me was the yoghurt mixed with salad and jam on the side, which was SO GOOD idek how to explain so you’ll have to try this for yourself 😂. <br/>- Pork Cheeks (10/10) so juicy and fatty but so fulfilling and not sickly, the skin is crunchy yet brittle and THAT SAUCE OK the Greeks are the masters of their sauces and we almost licked their plate clean from that kumara and Greek yoghurt purée. <br/>- Barbecued Thigh of Chicken (10/10) I have NEVER had chicken this soft and juicy ANYWHERE before my eyes literally lit up after a bite into it and juices just exploded in my mouth. The bean soup at the bottom is packed with flavour too and the crispy kale and spinach garnish added to the textures and flavours. <br/>- Barbecued Pig (10/10) again a perfectly cooked meat dish that oozes with juice. The acidity of the feijoa purée excites your taste buds and lifts the taste of the pork. <br/><br/>- Greek Yoghurt Cheesecake (10/10) AMAZING! It was light yet dense and decadent, and aromatic passionfruit sorbet and passionfruit syrup drizzled on top was such a delight; we all loved the extra crunch added by the crushed biscuits! <br/>- Chocolate mousse (10/10) another outstanding dessert; this one is for chocolate lovers! It’s more thick than mousse per se, more like Nutella but it’s very very good and the pineapple chunks worked unexpectedly well with the chocolate. <br/><br/>Wait staff are extremely friendly and the interiors are beautiful! I would come here again to celebrate special occasions! <br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Price: 8/10<br/>Ambience: 10/10<br/>Service: 10/10<br/><br/><br/>I’ll make another post about their dessert later 😂<br/>Friendly staff and beautiful interiors too!
S&G Take Auckland
Where to start ! Came here with an earlybird voucher but was running half an hour late. Staff were so good about it which we really appreciated. Eggplant was probably the only dish I wouldn’t rate too highly. Cooked nicely but not much flavour. The BBQ fish was so unusual it reminded me of Bombay duck. Delicious but difficult to eat as you have to debone it. Mind you the bones are very soft. <br/>The butter milk pitas are a must. Butterflied prawns were so-so - bit too mushy for my liking. The cheesecake was unique and delish and the Nutella doughnuts were also great. Overall the staff were so lovely and the ambience is great will definitely be back. Opa !

This place has an amazing modern deco. Love it, Blue valet with metal gold bar set up. Food is lovely and service is awesome. They had a private party upstairs a little noisy, but nothing really bothered us. Unfortunately they ran out of prawns which was out #1 on the list. Entree's were Piper Fish and Pork/lamb Manti (similar to dumplings) and mains were Market Fish (John Dory) and  BBQ Thigh of chicken. all dishes were very unique and full of flavours. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent place all around!<br/><br/>Must try the eggplant with gruyere! We also tried the fish of the day which was great too. Ordered the chips with oregano as well, those were average but I would go back just based on the eggplants alone. <br/><br/>Ambiance and service were excellent too!

Do you notice how suburbs like Parnell, Herne Bay and Mission Bay don't have supermarkets in them?  There's a good reason.  People who live in these affluent areas don't do grocery shopping like the rest of us. They dine out.  And it's restaurants like Gerome in Parnell that benefit from such clientele.  These  institutions survive by the affluence of their surrounding neighborhoods, not by their innovation or ability to excite, it's all a bit yawntastic.<br/><br/>Recently engaged and trying desperately to thwart our attention away from the Christchurch massacre, my partner took me out for a surprise dinner.  Gerome was her choice, advertising themselves as modern Greek food.<br/><br/>Taking full advantage of the First Table deal, we booked for 5:30pm for an early, 50% off the food bill, dinner.<br/><br/>Entrees:  <br/>Buttermilk Pita Breads served with Taramasalta, carrot Tzatziki and Olives - The Greek equivalent of breads and dips, nice, just nice.<br/><br/>Heirloom Tomato, stone fruit, muscat vinegar basil and feta - A strange dish which didn't gel well, it needed something to bring it together.  Having a dish where fresh (green!?) tomatoes are the star of the dish so late in summer may not be a smart move as they were lacking in flavour, tomatoes have peaked already.<br/><br/>Kefalograviera - peppered figs, northland honey - An intriguing dish with some lovely textures and a sweet/bitter rivalry fighting it out over your pallette.<br/><br/>Mains:<br/>Shoulder of Lamb - melt in your mouth, you could carve this with a blunt spoon.  Beautifully done.  The carrot Tzatziki making another cameo appearance as a condiment to the lamb, which I felt was a tad lazy, but delicious nonetheless.<br/><br/>Gratin Egglant - Stunning dish, both to look at and to eat.  Bravo Gerome, this was a show stopper.<br/><br/>Service was a mixed bag, when we arrived and asked for a table for 2, he simply turned and walked away from us without asking us to follow him, confusing and not very warming.  He did warm to us the more the evening went on.

The fancy and modern decorate and service was fantastic. We ordered lamb souvlaki ,pork cheek and roast califlower for sharing. I love pork cheek taste soft and crispy. The price was acceptable. We will try dinner next time
#fatlyfe
Where do I begin.... basically ordered half the menu!! The bread and dips the lamb, chicken, fish and cauliflower of the large dishes. The prawns, fried chicken, the burnt eggplant, the pork cheeks from the small dishes followed by the trifle loukamemdes and the pancetta desert. Standout dishes were the fried chicken pork cheeks eggplant lamb and the donuts. The didn’t like the chicken which came with the risotto not because it was bad but I’ve decided I don’t like risotto. The donuts had a chocolate sauce which I didn’t take to but everything else was exceptional. I don’t eat seafood and actually ate 3 prawns!!! The sauce that it came with was delicious. We didn’t have to wait for our food at all and the waiter was helpful and quite alert!! The sauces and dips in every dish were soooo nice we ordered some extra bread to soak it up 😍

Ok. so I wouldn't usually go for Mediterranean cuisine myself but as it was the favorite of my best mate we hit up a Gerome early on a Tuesday night. First impressions was of a cozy tastefully decorated restaurant (quite dim though if anyone finds that off putting?). We arrived at around 5:30/6 so it was still very quiet and so we were quickly seated and served. <br/><br/>We had the lamb dolmades, Chicken Thigh and loukoumades for desert. <br/><br/>Overall everything was cooked well. Each of the ingredients in each dish worked well together and there are some pretty interesting and inventive combinations of flavors that worked surprisingly well. that being said Gerome has much more of a subtle flavor profile than some other restaurants but made for a very well rounded meal. Definitely recommend the chicken.<br/><br/>The one thing that made our night though was the waiter who served us. Me and my mate are both goth/alt girls and dressed as such, Our waiter had noticed this and tactfully put on some tracks from The Cure and Siouxsie Sioux from his own playlist without us mentioning anything! (we only found out after I queried if that was the stuff they usually play) but yeah +1000 attentiveness very polite and the absolute highlight of our night.

Well. Decided to.come here after seeing the huge rating.<br/><br/>Service slow. 50 mins to receieve a dish.<br/><br/>Ordered<br/>2 x lemon lime and bitters. The flavour was like a weak popsicle.<br/><br/>Ordered<br/>Lamb. Chicken and a side of chips.<br/><br/>Chicken first. The risotto has great flavour. But its consistency is close to baby food. It tasted great.. but was not pleasant. Chicken cooked well.<br/><br/>Side note. Risotto made a nice dipping sauce for the chips.<br/><br/>Lamb. There is bland and unseasoned and then there is lamb that has sat so long that the tzatziki turns it so cold that its good for tomorrows lunch. Very below average dish.<br/><br/>The fact that it took 22 mins between lamb and chicken arrival just topped off a very average dining experience.<br/><br/>The chicken has fab flavour and when the risotto is cooked properly would be a seriously good dish.<br/><br/>But obviously the chef had the night off tonight<br/><br/>:(<br/><br/>

Gerome is NO short in delicious flavours. Every dish that came out were presented beautifully just by looking at it you can almost tell that it's going to be mouthwatering goodness 😃<br/><br/>All the dishes were equally delicious but market fish was a favourite which was pan fried John Dory with brown butter sauce.<br/><br/>We had a fabulous adults night out and we were looked after by our excellent waitress.<br/><br/>The update on the decor makes this a perfect place to enjoy scrumptious food, drinks and friends or family

I have been here both for lunch and dinner and loved it! I like the cosy/fancy atmosphere and the service is fantastic.<br/>The lamb souvlaki for lunch was delish, nice sauce and the bread is a 10/10. For dinner me and a friend shared the pork cheek, which was a bit fatty as expected, it had fabulous flavours. The eggplant, which was nice but it wasn’t good value. The dumplings I really enjoyed, overall a great experience.<br/>
Victoria Jenner
Interesting flavours. I enjoyed the pork cheek the best. Some dishes were a bit too sweet for my liking. Atmosphere is very cool. Dishes designed for sharing, a bit over priced for portion sizes. Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Gerome is an exceptional casual-dining eatery - nice & special food; comfortable dining area; good & efficient service. We started with the buttermilk pita bread, with beetroot tzatziki, smoked hapuka roe taramasalata (pastes) & olives. For the smaller dishes, we had the kofta of lamb and pork cheek for sharing. The lamb skewers were very ordinary, but the pork cheek was beautifully cooked - we almost wanted another order after we finished it!  For the larger dishes, there were only 5 choices & we had the lamb shoulder & the papagolas coffee brisket. They were both very nice. The dessert of galaktoboureko (semolina custard in filo) & salted almond ice cream was lovely, but I preferred sweeter dessert - just personal taste.<br/>(Food - 4.5/5; Service - 4.5/5; Ambience 4.5/5)P.S. An overall 4.5/5 should be a more accurate rating.<br/>Visited on 11 November 2018

Came here yesterday with my partner and we ordered two small dishes, one side, one main and a dessert. Each dish was cooked to perfection. My absolute favourite was one of their small dishes, the pork cheek. It was so tender that it practically melts in your mouth. Definitely will recommend it to anyone!

Great location. Great ambience. Great wine. Great people. However the meagre quantity of food served by price is not ok. Dessert of custard and rice (I think that’s what it was), was underwhelming and profiteroles were heavy and chewy. We came with bigger group of friends and qty of food for the number of people was abysmal. Need to change this or customers (like us) won’t come back.

Gorgeous place. Lovely service and yummy food. <br/>Upstairs can get pretty hot, so<br/>We asked to stay downstairs. The waiter was so lovely and the wine was delicious- I highly recommend the cotes du Rhône variety. <br/>We had the kalimari, bbq eggplant, asparagus and kofta. Everything was cooked perfectly and we left satisfied. I feel I missed out on the lamb shoulder but maybe that gives me a reason to come Back later again.
Stephy_NakiGirl
Great location in Parnell with a beautiful ambience & friendly service.<br/>Varied menu with small & large dishes designed for sharing. We tried a range, and all were delicious although the halloumi as a substitute to the kefalograviera wasn’t as nice. The lamb was beautifully cooked though & cauliflower & asparagus good accompaniments. The cocktail as nice for a change.<br/>Will be back as the menu changes seasons

I’m so glad to come this place. Food here not make me disappoint I love grilled prawn with whole shell. And butter milk pita bread is very delicious. And good drink menu here too. Service is nice and friendly very professional. I will come back again soon.

One of our favourite restaurants currently, have been about 4 times. The pita breads with taramasalata are a must, absolutely amazing. The pork cheek was the highlight of the meal for me this time, melted like butter and beautiful flavours. The calamari is to die for as is the lamb main and asparagus side. Our group this time wasn’t as crazy about the roasted cauliflower main, found it a bit too tangy with the vinaigrette, but it was still a lovely dish. The coffee brisket wasn’t to my taste but a friend really enjoyed it. Desserts - the Loukoumades weren’t loved, we found them too sweet and a very large portion. Last time we visited I loved the Baklava though. Our group included a coeliac and some fussy eaters and everyone left full and happy. Service, as always, was perfect.

Wow, the taste of their amazing food still lingers. . . <br/>They have a small menu and the restaurant allows sharing, that's the reason this place wont let you down. The dishes on the menu are prepared to perfection and everything seems fit together in perfect harmony.  Its a complete dining experience which starts from beautiful ambiance, nicely plated dishes, great wine collection to experiencing the burst of flavours in your mouth, which makes Gerome so unique.

Gerome is cosy cocktail lounge/restaurant with a nice atmosphere, however my visit was tainted with the huge delay on dinner and the rudeness of a few staff members. We had a group of 42 people, and had pre-ordered 1 week prior our individual meals due to our large size. We arrived at 6.30pm and were given platters to share instead, with barely enough food to share for the number of people on each table. I asked if we could have another lamb kofta entree for the table and was told that we had already had our share (2 sausages to share between 10 people). Those who had specifically chosen menu items due to dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian) had to share their menu item with several others, even though we were all paying the full price for a three-course dinner. We were served entree at around 7-7.30pm but were made to wait until after 9pm for our mains. One member of our party who had children had to leave before he had his main, but still expected to pay the full price. About 9.10pm, we asked the waitstaff where our meals were expected and were met with rudeness. We were told that we were late sitting down and that is why our mains were so late. One waitress in particular was very argumentative. Overall, I was very disappointed and feel this restaurant should not accept large groups if they cannot cope with the volume.

I was lucky enough to visit Gerome last month with a few friends, and I was not disappointed. We managed to get a table upstairs which is so beautifully decorated and set up. Service was impeccable and really attentive. The food was amazing, everything was fresh and vibrant. The chicken and risotto was a stand out and the lamb was just falling apart, I couldn't recommend this place more!

Atmosphere warm and plush, impeccable service and a terrific Greek-influenced menu.<br/>Is there such a thing as Greek-modern? It would be that<br/>Fresh and delicious tastes. <br/>Our highlight being the lamb main, fell apart in the best way.....and oh my lord the Nutella donuts!!!<br/>Excellent wine menu and drinks selection, big points for the espresso martini!

A beautiful spot to dine at; the interior set a relaxing mood. The staff were friendly and helpful! The food was tasty, however there were limited options to select from (for the lunch menu), and even fewer catered for pescatarians (and other such diets, ie vegetarian/vegan). The lunch plates were to share, but the serving size made it difficult to be full without ordering too many dishes - we shared four dishes between three people. Despite this, would still recommend this place for its food and drinks!

I’ve been here a few times now and I can honestly say the service is fantastic, the food is delicious and the decor is lovely ! Parnell has some great spots now and Gerome has made it that much better !!

An excellent place for lunch or dinner. Went again today and it's definitely on my regular places to go list. Great service and great food - at quite a reasonable price.

OH EM GEE<br/>Is all I need to say! <br/>This is totally the place to dine. My partner and I came here for dinner. We were greeted with smiles, the lovely gentlemen seated us to our table and we were served by a lovely waitress. The decor is beautiful. Love the Greek twist with the modern look. <br/>Now for the best part, we ordered for small sides: pig sheftalias, onions, tzatziki and the minced Dolmade. This dish made us feel like we were back in Santorini, beautifully presented and very tasty!! <br/>For the main; we ordered the shoulder of lamb, tahini yoghurt, pinenuts, watermelon, mustard leaf & barbecued chicken thighs, heirloom tomato salad, lemon oil, white bean skordalia, capers then followed by the side of butter green salad. The lamb was perfect! Chicken.... amazing! <br/>Finally for something sweet to the end our night, galaktoboureko, strawberry variations, rosewater . Wow. Looked heavy especially after eating so much food but it was super delicious and was very light. <br/>Perfect place to eat everyone!

Love this restaurant! <br/>Food is always delicious and great value for money! Sharing plates makes the food go a long way and there buttermilk pita and spreads is a wonderful way to start and delicious! There melt in the mouth lamb and watermelon is a standout and never misses the mark. The restaurant itself is beautiful with an upstairs area which is just lovely! It’s Greek fusion and done so well!

Came by for lunch to try it out. Quite a nice place where they take your umbrellas and jackets as you enter. <br/>Along with the lunch menu, they had specials as well. We ordered a few dishes to share. All the items were delicious. The soft shell crab souvlaki was tasty, as was the grilled squid. The lamb dolmades were definitely the top of the lot. The flavours and textures were amazing, would come back daily just for those.<br/>We also tried the galaktoboureko for dessert. The galaktoboureko itself was really nice but I found the strawberries a bit too tart.<br/>It is an amazing place for lunch but I am now curious about how it might differ with dinner.

The lamb is insane!! Slow cooked like your mother did it back home in Greece. Burnt eggplant & other veg dishes were all outstanding. 5/5 for the food. Service was patchy 4/5. Decor and ambiance could be any modern restaurant - don’t expect traditional Greece. 4/5. Value 5/5. <br/>

Great range of flavoursome Mediterranean dishes designed to be shared.<br/>I dinned at this restaurant with a decent sized group which meant I got to try almost everything on the entire menu.Service was friendly and prompt and the server did a great job of introducing the restaurants concept.Looks and feels like a very high end establishment with very affordable prices.

<br/>Good location and ambience. Food is quite average although some dishes were better. Service was reasonable but could do better.<br/>Worth an evening with friends but don’t expect too much from the food!

Really amazing interior design that’s so contemporary, elegant and has elements of Ancient Greece. Would love a name for the interior designer actually! Music was on par with lounge playlists from Hôtel Costes. Food was shared which meant everyone got to taste different things. Best feta I’ve tasted since Greece 👌🏼 interesting flavours - amazing starter of sashimi style fish with avocado and braid beans.

We went there for a friends birthday (20 of us) on a friday night and went for the set menu option. By the end of the night we were all full and extremely satisfied! The meat was so tender and we loved the twists they added to the traditional greek recipes. The waiters were very quick and super friendly and the owner was very hospitable. Thanks so much for a great night. Will definitely come again.

We've had lunch at Gerome twice now and each time we over ordered.  It's hard not to because everything sounds so tempting.  The food is excellent and we will return! The slow cooked lamb is absolutely superb - next time we intend to try the chicken.  All dishes can be shared.

Went here for dinner on a Sunday night. I was super excited to try this place out as I go to NSP all the time and was curious what this restaurant was about! Gorgeous interior inside, loved how the bar was in the middle and you could walk around it. The scallops with haulumi were average to be honest, but luckily the fish in coconut cream and cucumber was amazing! The last course was lamb with watermelon which is insane! Highly recommend this place plus the prices are actually cheap comparing to other places

Gerome is gorgeous. Amazing food, great concept for sharing. The staff are amazing and attentive. The steak, the lamb and the fish are all gorgeous. Loved eggplant the leeks and the potatoes. Very funky vibe. Great for a special occasion.
Travels4Food
Beautiful ambience. Very creative and complementary combination of ingredients. The lamb was very tender and tasty. The burnt eggplant was done really well with not much bitterness but still has a good smokiness tied well with the fresh pomegranate

Gerome is new modern upcomer in Parnell, and we couldn't of asked for a better place. Gerome has really stood out for me with its uplifting design beautiful and the beautiful teal blue, velvet bunker seating is eye-catchingly. Gerome is serving new unique Greek dishes. The staff are friendly and the service is outstanding.  The lamb shoulder dish really stood out to me with a mouth-watering sensation of a dish, my personal favourite. All the dishes that my wife and I tried were amazing! I am definitely returning and I can't wait for my next time dining!

Gerome was an exquisite dining adventure! The staff are very friendly and the food is outstanding! I came here for my birthday and I enjoyed every part of it. The lamb dish especially was a mouth-watering sensation! The combination of flavours is so creative! Auckland was crying for such a unique cuisine like this and you can't find this type of food and these flavours anywhere else! Definitely will be returning!

This place is nicely spaced out with a good balance so that it feels private yet also close enough to others so that the place is lively/sociable. Very modern style from the layout to the plates/utensils to the furnishings installed. The food is really good and the flavours are intense and sometimes overwhelming, but done so well!

Came here a month ago with friends. The decor is stunning and the booths are cosy. We had cocktails and Shared plates for dinner. The highlights for me were the lamb ribs, the chicken with mushroom and the baklava ice cream sandwich. Portions are generous and the food is delicious.

The decor is lovely and the service is professional, albeit stretched too thin amongst many tables. The food was good enough and fairly priced (for Auckland), with the exception of desserts which, while tasty, were overpriced. <br/>

We were excited to go to Gerome after spending many happy times at its predecessor. Gerome more than exceeded expectations with beautiful ambiance and service. Our French waiter was professional, warm and proud of the restaurant which is a lovely combination. The food was delicious and very generous servings. We will make this a regular occurrence. Claudia loves Gerome!

Gerome is the latest newcomer to Parnell’s dining scene, occupying the space where the famous Iguacu used to be. This new restaurant is serving up beautiful modern Greek food, matched with an elegant dining experience and friendly and attentive service. Three of us dined here last week for a special birthday, and we were very impressed.

New Greek restaurant in Parnell. Ambience was very nice and service was great. <br/>Flat bread with dips and olives - loved this! Great starter to have.<br/>Grilled saganaki cheese - this was ok but too small, just 2 pieces.<br/>Lamb with watermelon - the meat was so tender and full of flavour! <br/>Burnt eggplant - the burnt taste was too strong, and again the portion was so tiny. <br/>Overall the food was of high quality but the portions didn't justify the price. Approx $40-50pp but you will still be hungry.

The rich teal blue, velvet bunker seating is eye-catchingly sumptuous as you arrive,  with an industrial 'edge' in the remaining decor.  It leaves you feeling that you have been transported from Auckland to Milan or downtown New York - I know that's not Greece, but trying to pick high fashion industrial edginess here to remove any thoughts that you might have of being in countryside Greece.

Just spent a fantastic night beautiful food ,the beef rib was falling off the bone ,the bread lovely hot and crunchy, fried cheese with fig ,wiping up the sauce with the bread , greedy, once you get the hang of a shared menu ,you would know how to order, and stagger your meal, couldn't think of anything better, good luck to the staff ,will be back loved it mike and Monica

The dining room is chic and cool, the spirit of the old Iguacu would approve!  The Greek/Mediterranean fusion menu was interesting, built to share, and for the most part delicious.  We started out with succulent lamb ribs, ceviche, grilled piper, and one of the surprising stars of the meal the roasted cauliflower covered in capers and pomegranate seeds.  The spit roast pork main was actually a tender pork steak, the beef short ribs were moist tender and delicious with flat bread, and the lamb shoulder was accompanied by the wonderfully refreshing compressed watermelon.  Despite being near full we pushed on with dessert and were suitably rewarded.  The Loukoumades with coffee ice cream were light fluffy and totally yum, the lemon dessert was a nice counterpoint to the rich donuts, a beautiful finish to a very nice meal

We were interested to try this new restaurant alas it did not live up to the hype - though it was only the fourth night they were open. We were told when we ordered that dishes come out when the kitchen cooks them - so we ordered our small plates first. Unfortunately all of our entree plates arrived within two minutes of each other - for two of us. Too much too fast and not a relaxing way to dine. This also meant that some dishes went cold. Also if you don't eat their flat bead reasonably quickly it goes hard - and the taramasalata while tasty was tiny and we did not feel this dish was great value. While it was accompanied by a carrot dip the tarama. component was tiny. The brains and piper fish were nice.<br/><br/>Note that they are very limited on the side dish options - corn, chips and/ or burghul.<br/><br/>We ordered two mains - the first (beef rib) was almost burnt to a crisp (we left half of it) and the staff, after a very long time, came and admitted that they had forgotten our second main (blamed the kitchen) and had now run out. We had ordered the lamb. They did offer us a free glass of dessert wine for this but it had been too long and it was too loud under the speaker and we just wanted to leave.<br/><br/>The good - wait staff and management very pleasant and trying their hardest.<br/><br/>The ok - the attempt at service recovery.<br/><br/>The bad - wanting to serve you everything when it suits them, a space that is sooooo 80's and not in a good way. The acoustics make hearing each other almost impossible - think stone walls with speakers hung on them i.e. some terrible design thinking. Also some of the food related issues outlined above.<br/><br/>Their G&T coming with two large slices of orange in it was overpowering and quite frankly not a good idea. Again think 1980's. And at these prices - serve us like we're the customers, not when it suits the kitchen. We wish them the best (as we do for all new restaurants) but we are not keen to return for quite some time and hope that if we do the issues are ironed out.<br/><br/>

Four years in the making, with a budget that surpasses what I can imagine, from the ashes of our old favourite Iguaçu rises a new Greek fusion phoenix called Geromes. Iguaçu used to be our favourite in Parnell and many a fun evening was had here, so I am glad to see the new owners have lifted the bar (so to speak) even higher with a fitout that is currently second to none...beautiful turquoise velvet booths and gold adornments give the entire two level venue a sleek and sexy feel that any unqualified amateur diner will instantly appreciate. Service was impeccable, the Greek fusion dishes were sublime, and my Hellenic Mess dessert sensational. Protip: If you want to be in the thick of the action, sit downstairs.

Beautiful restaurant setting and vibe, lovely Customer service with a delicious menu set to ensure a valuable night of dining. I had the short rib beef which was delicious, tasty and the portion gorgeously sized for a girl like me! The entire menu selection was absolutely beautiful! We are already planning to visit again. Thank you! Compliments to Chef Jamie!!

Gerome "Greek Fusion" for venue layout it a solid 10/10 it feels like you could be in NY, suede booths, great mezzanine floor, impressive open kitchen, service is slick, the bar and leather seats are a great spot to come just for a drink.<br/><br/>The idea is shared plates. We had flat bread, dips and olives to start, washed down with the best looking Negroni AKL has to offer! The food needs more punch with the flavours.<br/><br/>Followed by lamb ribs, roast lamb with watermelon (great combo), pineapple and caramelised nuts with ice cream for desert - I ate way to much and feeling it now!!!<br/><br/>
