Hibiscus was started a couple of years ago by a group of lovely young Koreans; they've since gone from strength to strength. The service is excellent, the food and coffee are as good as anywhere else in the area.
Most notably, the staff are friendly and welcoming, greeting me by name and with genuine smiles on every visit.
Can get a bit crowded, but that's the price of popularity.
The food here is delish! I highly recommend the potato stack although the mushroom bagel is also a killer. The service is so wonderful and the prices are very reasonable.
Always a great morning or brunch spot! Foods super yum! The smashed avocado is my go to.. the iced chocolates are loaded with whipped cream, marshmallows and an Oreo. Such a cute touch. Staff are friendly, occasionally takes a while to place your order because of how busy it can get 😊
Love the hibiscus cafe! After trying heaps of cafes on the coast this is the place we always come back to and leave happy! Great coffee, friendly service and good food always!
We love this café! It’s always busy and bustling, but the service is always on point, the food is amazing and there’s a small corner for the little ones to keep busy. It can get quite noisy in there, which makes hearing conversations a bit difficult for some, but an awesome place to meet with family and friends.
My go to on the coast, the food is always good, service is always friendly and there is a toy corner for kids as well. Best cafe on the pensinsula.
Not what you would expect.. Amazing food, free range meats, large portions, they really do not skip on anything here. All the ingredients are of really high quality and there is a great range of different foods. The design of the cafe would have you thinking that it's not as good as what it really is. Only cafe in Whangaparaoa that I have come across so far that is worth the trip.
Small Cafe that feels a little cramped and often quite busy. The coffee is as expected. Nice cabinet food with the best date scones on the coast!
I feel cautious writing this review as this cafe is a hidden gem and I'd love to keep it that way :p But you all really deserve to know.
Excellent food, and excellent service. Some of the best eggs we've had. We've visited multiple times and their plates are big - reasonably priced, and delicious!
I also like how they allow substitutions if you can't eat something - and provide you with options too, like different types of sausages (not just pork), etc.
Their burgers are also delicious and some of the best thin crispy fries I've tried.
They use Allpress coffee too!
Good vibe. Good food and great coffee. Overall a good experience. Menu is extensive and product range is diverse. Kids area too so nive for us parents to relax while watching them
I and my son went to this place for the first time for breakfast and it was awesome. When we entered they gave us a menus and told us they will come to deliver it to us. The food and coffee there were delicious and yum 😀
Delicious food and massive portions. It was very busy the day we went but the lady serving was doing a fantastic job rushing about. Very polite. Food came out fast and was very tasty. We also had a protein smoothie which was very filling and tasty. Would highly recommend.
Food is always delicious here and excellent service. The bulgogi burger is good.
Lovely Cafe with yummy food, and friendly service. I have returned several times, and it's always a good experience! They also have a nice play area for the kids.
If you ask me where is the most delicious restaurant in New Zealand, I would say here. Noodles soba was really delicious. and I loved the large amount of potato chips in the hamburger, and the coffee was excellent, too.

Somehow my previous review was headed Subway in error. Subway is next door but I have not been there. Cafe Hibiscus is my preferred cafe each Wednesday morning. Mary is the delightful greeter as you walk in the door. A coffee and oh so tasty muffin are on my table in no time along with the morning paper ! Who could ask for anything more ? One Photo is of the wallpaper on one wall .. you could almost walk into it ! As Arnold the Terminator would assert .. “l’ll be back ! “ . NB Mary’s birthday on Aug 3. 🌹

Great portion sizes for the price, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food we bought tasted great ^_^
