Review Twisted Tomato - Auckland Central

Enjoyed our meal here. Excellent selection of food. One concern is that the pricing on the board didn't match the physical menus and unfortunately we didn't grab the receipt to check.

Really nice place to go with a group. We sat in the courtyard out the back which was really nice, we had immune compromised people in our group so we're always looking for good outdoor dining options. Kitchen was accommodating of our dietary requirements. I will say they could have more vegan options but what they did have was tasty. It took a bit of a while for our food to come out, but we did have a big group so it was probably just a big job to get it all ready :)

Amazing food, great service, cute cafe at point Chev. Ordered the spicy chicken waffle. It’s got bite! Not for the faint of heart but not too spicy, either. Coffee was average, bit on the acidic side but could have been their choice of beans (I didn’t ask). Still good and would definitely pop in again! They have a large courtyard so if you want fresh air and if the tables out the front are already taken, go to the back.

Excellent service, excellent food. Food was delicious and ice chocolate was amazing. Loved how you pour the chocolate and milk into your glass. Definitely will be visiting again. Steady stream of customers.value for money. Atmosphere was cosy. Will have to tried sitting out the back as I heard several people ask about it. I have been here quite a few times. Food and service are always excellent 👍

This is such a friendly place to come and eat and enjoy being pampered. The food is lovely and the service is too. Always so respectful. Not all cafes are like that, especially when you have dogs. We used to eat closer to the beach but we had to be "waited to be seated" and had to eat outside and the same order was $2 dearer 🥺 It's lovely here and deserves the 5 stars for everything 😊

Stumbled upon this cafe one day and we’ve become regulars ever since. The food is amazing and their eggs Benedict is the best we’ve ever had. I’m a huge fan of big breakfasts and theirs is definitely satisfies my cravings. The portions are great and the staff are always friendly.

We had eggs on toast and the pea and halloumi fritters. The food was divine! The highlight was the peach and coconut smoothie - that was 10/10!!!

One of my new favourite cafes for eating at outdoor (but covered) seating. I've enjoyed all my meals on the three occasions I have visited since discovering Twisted Tomatoes, as have my friends. The Calamari, Mr Benny and Creamy Mushrooms meals were all delicious.

Twisted Tomato is an absolute gem of a cafe! Its chic and cozy atmosphere immediately sets the mood for a delightful dining experience. The menu boasts an impressive array of drinks and dishes, and we couldn't resist trying the Wild Creamy Mushrooms on toast and the delectable smashed avocado. The flavors were incredible! The staff members were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warmth of the place. We left feeling fully satisfied, grateful for the amazing food, excellent service, and inviting ambience. A definite 5-star cafe! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What an absolute gem! I opted for the big breakfast (aka Mr. Big) and it ticked all the boxes. Perfect eggs, perfect bacon, timely service with a smile…these guys are going places. Thanks team, love your work! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

Another great brunch at Twisted Tomato 🍅 The owner Cam, has an excellent team working for him, providing good food, good coffee, good service and a friendly, relaxed environment. I took my daughter and her boyfriend there today and as always it was super enjoyable! I has my usual eggs on toast, my daughter had eggs Benedict with halloumi and her boyfriend had, as he always does, the spicy chicken waffles. Go check it out sometime peeps 🔥

So pleased to find a decent eatery in my neighbourhood. Cozy atmosphere. Outdoor sitting in the front and back. Fantastic service with all smiles. Mouth-watering presentation. Generous portion. Incredible taste. Great coffee. Just hands down. Doubtlessly my new go-to. Tips: breakfast from 7 to 10 am for just $13.90 On Thursday close at 9 pm. Friday & Saturday open till late.

Delicious food and great service and decently affordable. Better option then the breakfast club down the road if you’re looking for affordable delicious food and plenty of space

Great little cafe with a nice, fresh outdoor area out back. Excellent smoothies and food, and very friendly service. A really nice surprise.

Had a fantastic dinner in this cozy and neat restaurant. The food is very well presented and delicious! The staff are very friendly. It's a place I'd like to go back again 👍 👍 👍.

My mum recommended this place to me and my partner after coming here a few year's ago so we came and it still lives up to her hype. Absolutely phenomenal tasting food, amazing presentation, the deli cabinet and place in general looks amazing and cozy, staff are super friendly and accommodating, we had the sticky pork burger and the big breakfast, was so delicious, we definitely have a new favorite cafe, 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

Such a great little cafe! The food was delicious and well-priced with good portions -not too much or too little. The staff are lovely and make you feel welcome. We will be back.

I’m a regular visitor of twisted tomato and my family and I just love it. I always get the bagel with bacon, Swiss cheese and Smokey tomato relish and it is absolutely delicious. Another favourite is the peach and coconut smoothie. The vegetarian burger is also 10/10! Can’t say a bad word about this place

3.5/5 Rating
Has all your signature cafe staples. They have some interesting beverages on the menu. I have yet to try their deconstructed beverages.

Their poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Beautifully shaped poached eggs with the perfect yolky center lathered in just the right amount of hollandaise sauce.

Everything was amazing. Portion size was big, yummy food, friendly service and great coffee.

One thing I really really don’t like when I eat out at restaurants is when they use greens straight from the packet sold at supermarkets. It’s fine if a little bit is used but not when the whole dish is filled with it, plus there isn’t even a decent sauce to make it a bit better. Idk about you but I personally don’t like the idea of paying over $20 for “salads” I could’ve bought from Countdown. The dish I got (Mediterranean Lamb Koftas) had a few bits of lamb in it which tasted fine but the overflowing amount of salad was just too much. I couldn’t finish it and I hardly ever not finish my plate of food (second pic is after me already trying to eat half the “salad”). The coffee I got was too warm, just not a great temperature.
-> BE BACK OR BACK AWAY? Ummm yeah back away, at least don’t get any food or drinks from their main menu. Their cabinet looks decent though. I would never go out of my way for this place. But if I happen to be nearby and my friend really wanted to go try it out for some reason, I’d just sit there and maybe try something from their cabinet. They have almond croissants and can’t go wrong with that right, surely? Lol anyways imo cute lil cafe but not worth the money.
-——- ok so I just googled them up and I’m genuinely confused why their rating is so high. Either the Devonport one is a lot better or they changed up their menu idk. But judging from their food pics I definitely picked one of the worst dishes. And then again, the pics of their other dishes don’t scream wow to me. I’m put off so won’t be back but I mayyy give it a try again some years later lol but probably not (my sisters friend loves this place). Maybe it’s just me, but either way I would probably just get their cabinet food if you actually wanted to try this place out.

Good coffee prompt fast and efficient.

Very nice environment and service.
p1. Caramelized pancake no fluffy enough 2.5/5
p2. Polenta bites made of cornmeal. It tasted great with sauce and even better to eat it cool . 4/5
p3. Potato croquettes a little bit crispy outside and very soft inside. It tasted great 5/5
p4. Pea and halloumi fritters a really green color dish. Normal. 3.5/5

There's a few cafes down this stretch of road and I'm one of many road users that use the Meola rat run - Twisted Tomato always seem the most popular of the lot. Luckily for me I got in stupidly early for breakfast one morning, the service is great the layout is smart and utilizes the small space effectively and the food is divine. There's really nothing more to say, they're a first tier Cafe & I'll definitely be back. 4☆

We got the MS twisted and the eggs bene and enjoyed both! The chutney was really good and service was very friendly. Ambience and prices were all good! Would definitely recommend :)
Persian Foodie
Healthy cafe food with outdoor seating but lots of errors in the order. For the eggs Benedict, we asked for no beetroot but got beetroot purée smeared on the plate. Was also told they’d run out of their usual bread so we got some sort of sourdough that was impossible to cut through with a knife and fork so we had to use our hands. The peanut muesli was an odd side to have on the plate, quite a dry texture. For the burger, the bacon was overdone that it would break into little pieces every time I’d try to cut into it. The sauce on the plate was some sort of sour pumpkin with paprika which really didn’t go well as a chip dip. I also ordered fries but had gotten polenta. At the end I asked the owner what kind of chips they were because they tasted funny. He said that I must’ve liked them because I finished them. Very wrong logic. When someone orders fries, majority of the time it will be regular potato unless the customer has specifically stated polenta, it was wrong for him to assume and try to justify the mistake by the customer finishing what was on the plate... furthermore the salted caramel shake was in a regular water cup, very watered down and wasn’t even filled to the top (was mostly whipped cream).

Loved everything about the food, service, and the place

Service was amazing and food was absolutely delightful! Can’t wait to try more of their menu.

The best service ever, and consistently amazing tasty food whether you are there for breakfast or dinner. The coffee is brilliant too
Hannah Bayard
Best eggs bene in Auckland! Friendly staff and perfectly made coffee. Love this local in my neighbourhood.

I am a regular at Twisted Tomato in Pt Chev' - for very good reasons. The owners and staff at Twisted offer better than perfect food, coffee and service (super friendly, generous and helpful, remembers names and coffee orders and always goes the extra mile). I have seen many kind gestures with older adults and children as well as the rest of us.
Food wise, try the absolutely delicious pea and haloumi fritters. They are the perfect brunch with crispy outside and soft centres with lots of peas rather than batter. The salad is fresh and works perfectly with the fritters and the sauces are so yummy that I used a spoon to scoop up whatever was left on the plate.

Had a fantastic dinner in this neat and cozy place. The food is very well presented and delicious! The staff there are very friendly and professional! I would definitely come back again!
Chan Can Eat
Nice little place. Good atmosphere as it’s smaller. The menu is a great size and there are some great looking options. I had the mushrooms with crispy polenta. It was delicious, as was the coffee. The meals came out quick even though the place was busy.
I would definitely come back.
Especially seeing as zomato gold discounts apply.
It was tasty too - so regardless, I’d visit again. And would recommend a try :)
Kyle Wong
Amazed by their breakfast meals. I ordered the wild mushrooms with fried polenta (polenta was a little bland but works well with the creamy sauce) and my hubby enjoyed his egg benny.

Food-2.5/5, Presentation-3.5/5, portion size-2.5/5,price-3/5,service-2/5
We called in the morning for a booking and was told that they are a busy place and do not take any bookings(fair enough), however when we reached, it has half full only although people were coming and going. But what got our goat(or bacon) was that the table next to us, was being set-up for 6 people, with cutlery/crockery/napkin etc and a RESERVED sign put. The waitresses were very cold and didnt provide us with any cutlery with our food. We had to bring it ourselves(we saw that it was being given to others around us).
The burgers, priced at $16 was good enough for a not very hungry kid, pretty small, although the meat was tasty.
Overall not very good experience. The saving grace was the Zomato Gold on food
Jason Jost
We went here for brunch last weekend. The coffee and food was yummy with friendly service. We ordered the Big Daddy Breakfast and Ms Twisted with spinach and salmon as extras. We were surprised the extras were actually a side order on another plate not part of the main meal. The extras weren’t needed as the Ms Twisted was a big meal by itself.
Shannon
Looking forward to coming back here, had a lot of food envy as we saw the dishes being brought out of the kitchen to other customers. Really liked my eggs bene with salmon, the eggs were poached perfectly. The cabinet food looked great too with a decent selection of both sweet and savoury items. Good service and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Can’t ask for anything more.
Kathy
Service is good, food is excellent and the owner is always there. Very hands on, accomodating and humble
The burger was amazing! Would return for it.

First time here and it was quite nice but I don't think I will be rushing back. I had a Zomato Gold and you can't order from the specials menu. I ordered the smashed peas with feta and cherry tomatoes which is $20. If I didn't use Zomato Gold I would have been very disappointed with this. The peas were good but there was only 1 little cherry tomato cut in half (thats it!!) and not even joking probably a small cube of feta crumbled up?! The dish is smashed peas WITH feta AND cherry tomatoes so these should all feature in the dish. The poached egg that came with it was hard as rocks, it was like a hard boiled egg. Coffee was nice though. My mum got the chicken salad which I was told was nice. I use Zomato Gold all the time and I have never had any other place skimp on ingredients but this is how I felt here.. One dish was fine however the other was not?

Sunday brunch is a busy time to come here to eat! Happy to have been seated instead of leaving to find another place. We ordered two of the Mr Benne, one with bacon another with salmon and the Peri Peri Chicken Burger. The eggs was cooked perfectly as the yolk waterfall over our potato croquettes. Was hoping the salmon was fresh instead of smoked/cooked. The potato croquettes was the best part if you're a potato lover like me. The burger was juicy and messy to eat but what can you expect when eating a burger. The fries were so good, would have loved more fries. Prices are average like most cafes. 8/10

Came here with my boyfriend for his birthday brunch, I ordered the Mr Benne, while he ordered the Big Daddy Breakfast and we got a Deconstructed Iced Mocha to share.

The iced mocha was so fun to make/pour yourself and it tasted delicious too, great balance of flavours. I absolutely loved my egg bene, the chicken sage sausages and potato croquettes were delicious. I normally do not go anywhere near beetroot, but the puree in this dish was surprisingly delicious and made the dish so much better.

Service probably wasn’t the most efficient as we were required to show our Gold unlock to the server when we ordered, which we did and it was approved. However, that message didn’t get relayed on to the girl who processed our payment at the end of the meal, so it took some extra time for her to confirm and edit our bill.

It's cute and quaint, reminiscent of a rural country cafe.

We sat and witnessed a delicious looking burger get delivered to a table near us, "What did you order", we asked the stranger, "the Peri-peri Chicken Burger, it's gooood" he replied.

A wee while later 2x Peri-peri Chicken Burgers were delivered to our table. These were as pretty as a petal and as colouful as a rainbow. More importantly they held all the qualities of a good burger and ticked the following boxes:

- A great amount of char on the chicken.
- Enough bacon to rival any big breakfast.
- Buns that have enough give in them and act as a sponge to help suck up excess burger juice.
- You have to roll up your sleeves to stop burger juices running down your forearms onto your clothes.

If you want fried with your burger, you need to pay $5 extra.
It's like charging more for gravy on your roast beef.
It's like charging more for mash with your bangers.
It's like charging ..... you get the idea.

I honestly would’ve gone straight past Twisted Tomato had it not of been for their outdoor seating I remembered from zomato reviews I had read. When we arrived we were seated quickly and given water and menus. Before we had even touched the menus the waitress asked if we wanted drinks which was a bit too hasty imo. After reading so many rave reviews about the Mr Bene with karaage chicken I kind of had to order it (as well as a chai latte). Honestly speaking? meh. The chai latte was watery and lacked oomph (literally water + foam + spice). The potato rosti was light and fluffy on the inside and golden and crunchy on the outside, but unfortunately it had an odd earthy aftertaste. The eggs were perfectly spherical and PERFECTLY COOKED (you know how sometimes they undercook the egg whites?? Or overcook the yolks?? Not a problem here). The karaage chicken was super crunchy, moist, well seasoned and sweet. The Beetroot Purée was an unnecessary addition to the plate in my opinion. It just added more of an earthy taste to the dish which I wasn’t a fan of (especially when eaten with the chicken). I don’t think that everything belonged on the plate together, but it was a fun idea?? (Earthy + sweet is not a yes from me). After a disappointing chai latte, a slightly shy/stand offish waitress and the eggs Benedict I don’t think I’ll be making a return to Twisted Tomato 🍅

Lovely little place situated in Pt Chev. Staff are lovely. Food is tasty and portion’s generous. Would definitely be going back soon to try other meals on their menu. ☺️

Went for breakfast. Tried their Big Daddy (1) and Ms twisted. (2) Parking available in front of cafe or on side streets.
Well done. Probably two of the best burgers I have tasted in a long time. Highly recommended. Fries were great too even though I am not generally a big fan. Will be back for sure.

Awsome little place, very helpful staff. Dishes are nicely presented. Generous portions sizes and mostly importantly food was delicious. Would go back again.

🍅This little cafe must be one of the hidden gem of Pt Chev. We came here because it was on Zomato Gold and was recommended by one of our friend. It did not disappoint as they serve delicious food and deconstructed ice drinks. We got 3 Big Daddy Breakfast with different types of egg, Grilled Chicken Salad and Ms Twisted. Also, we order several smoothies and a deconstructed ice mocha. It was a busy day so we waited for a bit before our food arrived but the drinks obviously came out first. The smoothies was good but the deconstructed ice mocha was beyond my expectations and I absolutely loved it ☕ All the dishes were very well presented and tasted amazing. Our favourite was the Grilled Chicken Salad, it came with kumara crisps on top and the salad dressing was delicious 🥗🍠 Ms Twisted was also very good for those who loves veggies, we really loved the mushroom as it was seasoned and cooked very well 🍄Big Daddy Breakfast was good too but it was the first time I have seen a big breakfast without a hash brown 🥔 Overall, we had a very good dining experience and would definitely recommend others to try this cafe especially while it's still on Zomato Gold (very worth for the food and service).
👆GENERAL TIP: Try ordering a Vegetarian option on the menu as you might be surprise at how delicious the dish will turn out.
Very busy place on weekend, booked a table before come. We order big breakfast and taste quite nice. Nice and warm inside, stuffs are quite friendly. Will come again.

This popular and cosy lil cafe tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood of Pt Chev turned out to be beyond my expectations. We got the Caramelised Pancake w/ ice cream, Crispy Pork Belly Salad l, Big Daddy Breakfast and Mr Benne with chicken karrage. We loved our visit here! The service was lovely and we were greeted warmly upon arrival. All the food we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted just as good! Our favourite was the Caramelised Pancake - doesn't it look amazing? It was the right level of sweetness and made even better with ice cream. The pork belly was also good - tender with flavoursome coating and paired well with the slaw. This was the first time I've seen chicken karaage as an option to go with eggs benedict but it was a really nice pairing! The only thing I'd say that could be improved is the coffee.

Check out my insta @ohmyfoodiegoodie to follow more of my tried eats.

closer to 3.5
i was out west on a delivery run with my brother and we decided to have lunch before returning to the east. checked on Zomato and this place scored the highest in rating. nice little place in the middle of nowhere. the taste i felt like is a bit rich/salty etc for my taste. minus half a star because of the unexpected exclusion of the chips to be discounted via usage of zomato gold which is not the usual compared to other places and not make clear to us
Timer
We come here every now and then. Tried quite a few different thing. Always good. Today we opted for Lebanese Roll and teriyaki Salmon. no surprise it didn’t disappoint. Portion was generous. Yummy-ness is off the chart. Even the salad dressing was divine.

Took my mum here for lunch on a Friday.

What a cute little cafe nestled in Pt Chev! We were greeted by a friendly smile when we walked in. We got the: Crispy Pork Belly Salad, Teriyaki Salmon and Mediterranean Lamb Koftas (all to share).

- Pork Belly (9.5/10) I get pork belly almost everywhere I go and was super excited to see this on the menu! The pork belly chunks were beautifully laid ontop of a refreshingly delicious salad. The pork belly chunks were almost perfect! Flavoursome glazed coating that was sweet and salty and slightly hard, but reveals soft and melting tender pork inside. Bonus brownie points for not being greasy too! My only downfall is perhaps a little extra more kick to the flavours would have made this perfect! Or some more sauce!

- Salmon (10/10) I love a perfectly cooked salmon that is dark pink inside (medium) and is so soft it butters and melts away on your tongue. The chefs here mastered this, and it was drenched in a amazing teriyaki sauce, making it super juicy and flavourful! The salmon portion was also very generous, and the vegetables on the side were grilled to perfection that was soft and soaks up the sauce.

- Lamb Koftas (8.5/10) we probably left this too cold before we dove into it, but the lamb koftas were amazingly seasoned! The combination of quinoa, seeds and crushed peanuts were a party of texture, pulled together with a creamily smooth hummus on the side! I think maybe an extra kofta or two would have won it for me!

My mum and myself enjoyed all dishes so much we actually scrapped all the plates clean, sauces and everything! Favourites for me would be the Pork Belly and Salmon though!
Prices are well well-priced, especially for the quality you get! The lady behind the counter is really friendly and helpful as well; who let me use my Zomato Gold despite me telling her at the time of paying (best to let them know beforehand!)

Food: 9/10
Price: 9/10
Service: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Gourmet Vegetarians
The twisted tomato is a small little cafe tucked away in a hidden part of Pt Chev. The coffee is good and there are several appealing vege options on the menu.

We ordered the pea and halloumi fritters swirled with tomatillo, yoghurt and harissa sauces, and the mushrooms on grilled polenta with a poached egg and blue vein sauce.

The fritters were ok but the pea flavour was quite overwhelming, the sauce it came with was reasonably flavoursome but still nothing special. The mushrooms were better, they were cooked until tender and the blue vein sauce was deliciously moreish. If the grilled polenta had been a little more crispy it could have been an outstanding dish. Our friend ordered the smashed avo on toast (classic millennial) and was most disappointed by the petite serving of tomato’s on his plate ( I think he took the name of the cafe a little too literally).

Overall we are giving this place a 7.5/10- worth the visit, especially with Zomato Gold, but probably won’t become a regular spot for us.
MCP
Nice little cafe, came here on Zomato gold and we ordered the burger and mushroom, They didnt inform us the add on for burger’s not covered with the gold and they also forgot my coffee - food was a little bit too oily the burger was bland
Foodhunta
Came here with my brother for brunch/early lunch. First impression is a nice little cafe located in a quiet area of Pt Chev. however was a little disappointed with the food. a bit too much oil and a little too salty. Also, was a little surprised too when paying that the chips add-on with burger treated as separate side order so was not covered in zomato gold despite menu hv it along with burger, not from side menu (another cafe i went last week dont hv to pay for chips add-on). costed us ~$19 per person even after zomato gold 1+1 food.
Food taste 3/5
Food presentation 3.5/5
Service 3/5
Ambiance 4/5
Value (price and portion size) 3/5

LOVE this cafe!!! My go to is the benne and peri peri chicken burger! I’m always going back to try something new and I must say everything on their menu is beautiful! The cafe it self is quite small so it’s first in first serve. It would be nice if they had a bigger cafe because this place is a hit. The service is awesome and waiting time usually is 15-20 minutes which is good. Def worth a try if your in the area your tastebuds will be amazed !
Kelvin Cheng
The cafe was quite busy. Nice food and friendly service! More importantly I enjoyed 1 + 1 meal using zomato gold! Definitely will drop by again!

Lovely small cafe located in point chev. Beautiful ambience and always have lovely service and food. Also have been very accommodating to students in the past.

Overall nice place for breakfast, is a very small and quaint cafe and can get very busy at brunch time. We ordered eggs salmon bene and pancakes. Wasn’t the best eggs bene I’ve ever had but nice for a different style but was tasty and satisfying . Eggs were cooked to perfection and salmon was cooked not cold smoked but nice and for my palette there was a bit too much beetroot. Pancakes we felt had to much extras like cream etc. But overall a lovely kai and experience
Jaspreet Dhindsa
Great service, amazing food (had the most amazing chicken Lebanese wrap today). Highly recommend to anyone looking for an easy lunch/brunch option :)

Very very tasty food and good service, highly recommended the chicken salad🥗quite busy during the weekend, waiting time a bit longer...worth to try

Best food and service ever. My friends and I had a great time. Chef rocks. I highly recommend people to go and experience it. Banana chocolate bread yuuuummmm😋
HeyUYy
In fair words. Been there on a Sunday, busy lunch time, full house. Been set down to a uncleaned table, but given they are extremely busy I did not mind. Got informed upon ordering that the max wait time for food is up to 30 minutes, understood and ordered. Drinks arrived after 20 minutes, but waited a total of 58 minutes for food! In the mean time that waiting staff are having their lunch while we starved and waiting. Being fair, the food is alright, but the level of service is, well you got it.

Didn’t expect this place to be located here! Service was nice and the portions were quite big, I wasn’t able to finish my meal . Each dish seemed to be made quality ingredients. The de constructed mocha was really good too!

Ive been to twisted tomato twice using zomato gold, i hadnt heard of it beforehand. I must say it is now one of my favourite cafes in auckland, the food is so so good especially the breakfast menu. It is such a bargain with zomato gold, this will now be my regular brunching spot. Good service and good coffee !
L
Unfortunate first time experience. Was busy so happy to wait for food - took about 10 minutes to have order taken. Asked for burgers with fries. Told they had run out of fries which we said that's fine and got wedges instead. 45 mins later wedges came out by themselves along with our two drinks. Waited another 15 mins eating our wedges. Waited another 10 after finishing them. Waitress finally comes up to us "oh did noone tell you we have no burgers?" I don't mind if you run out of items but how were we waiting for over an hour before being told. Left very hungry. Wedges were delicious though so 2 stars

Food was awesome. Serving size was good.. good we had the zomato gold— got three of their yummy brekkie and just paid for two. Def a must try for brunch.
We had lunch on Sat. Good Interior design creating a comfortable atmosphere. Staffs were very friendly. Beef burger was great. Beef patties were kind of home made style thick patties. They were juicy and really tasty. The burger had a good amount of cheese and source. I added chips for 6 bucks which was slightly below average unfortunately. I would have rated 5 stars if chips were nice. Chicken salad was really delicious. Well cooked chicken had a good amount of charcoal flavour and the source was amazing. Will come back!

Cosy little place with good food. If you are coming with a pram you will need to book ahead and let them know as space is very limited. We did this but with 2 prams we were still a bit in the way for other customers.

The food was good and everyone enjoyed what they had. Highlight was the deconstructed ice chocolate - very cool concept.

We used Zomato Gold so it was good value.

Crispy pork belly had a good amount of meat and eggs bene were nice :) would definitely visit again!
P.S their cookie sandwich in the cabinet is a must-try for people with a sweet tooth!

What a neat and lovely cafe. The food definitely are worth the drive (we live out East). Beautifully presented and big portions too. We had a big breakfast, Mr beanie, bagel & Ms Twist.

Twisted Tomato is a participating restaurant with Zomato Gold. For those interested, here’s the promo code LITTLETD to get you 20% off your membership.

This place has the best BBQ pork belly! It was juicy and tender and full of flavor. Hubs also enjoyed the selection of different sausages/meats in his big breakfast.
Jiten Patel
It started off with no one seating us, then when we were seated no one came to take our order, we had to go up to the counter to ask. A couple of the items on the menu were not available. In the end we had the omelette and the big breakfast,Both were average. To be honest we wont be going back.
Connor Toner
Definitely worth a visit, wait was a little long but that's because everyone else knew this place was so good aswell. I had the asain pork belly couldnt fault it, definitely a good amount. Partner had smashed avo which was also pretty good.

Cosy and welcoming. Had a delicious brunch on a rainy Monday. Service was attentive and friendly but not invasive. Food was tasty. Would definitely return. No issues using gold membership

Really good food, enjoyed the service and couldn’t get enough of the menu (Our party had the mushrooms, eggs Benedict and peri-peri burger along with assorted drinks from their extensive menu). Is a bit out of the way for me, but would return again.

Enjoyed this cozy hidden gem!
It doesn’t look as cozy from the outside as it is inside, so I was pleasantly surprised when I came in. Delighted to find Atomic coffee in a nice little cafe, too!
Eggs bene on ciabatta was good and so was the big breakfast! The flat white was made well :-)

The cafe was quite packed, but we did come in for a Sunday lunch.
Liked the ambience, food and coffee!
Service is always great and eggs bene meal and blue vein sauce and polenta dish for breaky are my favourites so far. Amaaazing mushrooms and sauces too! Nice casual venue and plenty of parking on main rd. Always leave satisfied and this is my favourite place for breakfast.

A lovely Burch shop! Love the veg mushroom’s sauce, the second pic. Pork salad is a little bit dry though. Unfortunately they don’t have salmon today. Nice services, quick dish serving. Recommend u guys to go.

Highly recommended this nice local cafe with lovely environment. Staffs are friendly and accept Zomato gold straight away. Very busy on Saturday morning and it takes a little bit long to serve the food, deserve to wait though. We ordered big breakfast and teriyaki salmon. The portion are super generous and taste are great. Will come back to try the rest.

Good food, friendly service, cute decor.
The cafe is relatively small in comparison to how busy they were on the day of our visit.

We ordered the pork belly salad, the pancake, a classic bagel and 2x big daddy's breakfast.
The food was very delicious, generous serving too.
A nice little cafe tucked away in Pt Chev, would highly recommend to those around the area.

Heads up for Zomato gold members, you'll need to split the bill if you have multiple gold members on the same table as they do not do it in 1 transaction.
Food was incredible! Had the Beef Burger & The Smashed Peas w/ a side of Salmon (not pictured), the Salmon was so so good like an actual fillet of salmon rather than the slimy smoked salmon you usually get. The Burger was perfectly cooked and the option of having Polenta chips was really cool! - they were yum too. The chicken was ok, could have had more sauce. Would rate higher but the service and wait for food was pretty shocking.

Could have better ventilation inside cafe. Food was good but could be priced lower for better value. Not much selection on the menu, few items is seasonal.

Went back again with a friend and food is good as usual.

Join Zomato Gold and get 1+1 on food or 2+2 on drinks. Over half a hour wait for the most underwhelming food. Would give negative 5 stars if possible. Smashed peas were NOT smashed. Nuts and seeds in food but did not disclose on the menu. Tasted bland and infuriating.
Nicola
We ordered the Vegetarian breakfast & eggs bene with bacon. The Bene was delicious - perfectly poached fresh eggs and crispy potato croquettes. The vege breakfast was light with a lovely variety of roasted veges, however it was lacking in flavour. Service was great - attentive friendly staff. Cafe had a rustic relaxed feel to it. Will def return

Great cafe, good coffee and food.

Only con was our waitress who took our order didn’t let us know our dish that had sides (an option on the dish itself, not extra sides on another part of the menu) was not part of the deal. I would recommend for their staff to inform customer when ordering & using Zomato gold so the expectation is set.

A different waitress who took our payment was nice and genuine saying Zomato Gold is new - so I understand their staff may not all be trained.

We came here due to the zomato gold and good review based on zomato. everything is exceeded our expectation. Food was good although we waited for quite long. Coffee was great! And food is buy 1 get 1 free. There are outdoor seats as well so we will definitely pop by here again with our dog b4 heading to meola reef park :)

I went here to grab brunch with my mother. Must say i am impressed with this place! The big daddy breakfast, and egg benedict are filled with flavours. Dishes took awhile, but I was very impressed with the presentation when it arrived. This resturant is small and cosy, makes a perfect place for a catch up.

We found this cafe from zomato gold. Buy one get one free food. Service quite nice and friendly, prepared paper and color pen for kids which is super nice. Environment is good, except few flies at corner. Still give 5 star, hope focus on pest control.

Tasty food, nice local cafe, great service.

Kids can draw and have fun too. If it weren’t for the flies I would give 5 stars.

Good value for money with zomato gold.

Service: 5/5
Presentation: 4.5/5
Environment: 3/5
Food Quality: 4.5/5
Food Quantity: 5/5
Price per person: $10-$12

Love this place, go nearly every week. Service is excellent and they do a great cooked breakfast. I recommend the scrambled eggs and mushrooms. The lentil loaf is also yummy. Fantastic to have a friendly local cafe within walking distance.
presentation is very good but most importantly food tasted good too. coffee is nice and strong, service is friendly. liked the interiors of the cafe, it gives the cafe a warm and comfortable vibe.

Have been here several times and had great experiences every single time!! The food is delicious and so beautifly presented and great variety.. good to get away from your typical breakfast type menu
Cheapeatobsession
Small place so not greta for big groups or on days of bad weather. Overall great food at all times of the day. Good quality and sizing, offers something a little different and risky but good! Pea and hollumi fritters are different and exciting, if you want to try something new this is the place to go.

Just loved this amazing dish, Lamb Kofta! Best chef in Auckland! This place never disappoints you with their friendly staff. Its a must visit Cafe!

We stopped by Twisted Tomato and were a little put off by the price of the breakfast menu, instead we opted for coffee and a date scone. It was probably the best date scone we’ve ever had, it was absolutely delicious and the coffee didn’t disappoint either. Will have to stop by again to splash out and try their breakfast.

EDIT: I stopped in for a late lunch with a friend and again really enjoyed the coffee, and this time ordered from their menu. I ordered the pea and Halloumi fritters which I really enjoyed, a little extra halloumi along with the fritters would have been a nice touch. I ordered salmon in the side and this was a highlight! They smoke their salmon in-house making for a deliciously balanced smoked fillet, the perfect addition to this meal. My friend had an omelette which was a really generous portion. We also shared a banana choc loaf, they must have a seriously good baker on their team because it was absolutely Devine, and warmed so perfectly. The team their are super friendly too, when we went to pay I just had to grab another scone, when I asked how much they were the man serving us so generously said I could have one free of charge, he also gave one to my friend. Such a lovely little gem with a real community feel! I’ll definitely be back :)

The food is amazing, a but pricey. But the wait for food is so long. I’ve been a few times and always end up waiting about half an hour for my food, today I waited 40 minutes and it wasn’t even busy
Julia Louise
Lovely little cafe in point chev. Great food with interesting flavours. I had the smashed avocado and is much more interesting than the standard - delicious sauce! Nice decor with a cosy, quiet vibe.

Great vibe & fantastic customer service: great to have staff who care! Food is delicious here and beautifully presented. Highly recommended 👍😋

We came for a brunch at Twisted Tomato and ordered Mr Benne Caramelized Pancake with a side of bacon, grilled hallumi and crispy karaage chicken. The chicken is crispy but not dry. Pancake is huge so can be shared between 2. Everything was made perfectly and the ingredients of the dishes blend in great harmony. Was best brunch in such a long time. highly recommend👍👍👍

Absolutely beautiful food, love coming here for brunch or a nice lunch. The food is full-flavoured, the staff are very friendly, and the coffee is great. Would definitely come back more.

Not sure if it was the owner who served us on an early Wednesday morning but my mum and I went in and he the most delicious eggs on toast WITH coffee for $13!!! Like what!!!! It’s 7-9am deal I think. Best service ever, the man was so lovely and made the best hot chocolate ever. Such a nice ambience at that time in the morning too. Well impressed will be back again and again!! Great job guys!

Most amazing and unexpected dishes out there! We ordered our dishes expecting the normal cafe dishes you get but instead we got something way more delicious! Nice little cafe! Great good looking staff! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an interesting meal!

Amazing selection of food, whether it's off the menu or from the cabinet. Will leave you licking your fingers for sure!
Price: Moderate $$
Quantity: A LOT, doubt you'll finish the whole plate.
Vibe: Extremely chic and Instagram-able.
Recommend: The PeriPeri Chicken Burger!
Food below: Periperi chicken burger with rustic chips, Lamb curry pie (salad and relish included), Hot chocolate and Cappuccino.

We ordered pea & haloumi fritters, omellete & scrambled egg w kumara sourdough, kids hot chocolate and beetroot juice. I wouldn't change anything, they were all delicious. Beetroot juice as scary as it sounds was very nicely balanced with carrot and apple. As a bonus they are also extremely friendly for such a busy place! Keep it up guys, we can't wait to go back 😁👍👏

#vegetarian #brunch #cafe

A small cafe on the main road, it might be hard to miss. I ordered the 5 grain toast with poached egg and added an extra of baked tomatoes. A good and healthy choice at a cafe. The tomato’s were an extra $5 on top of the $10. Overall not too expensive compared to other choices.
Simple but delicious flavours and finishable too. The waiter was really friendly, the place warm and I certainly had a good experience here.
Hannah Baker
Chose Twisted Tomato based on it's good rep on Zomato.
Was not disappointed. The staff were all so friendly and kind, helping the typical indecisive me make a choice - the Crispy Pork Belly Salad was soooo good. They were also very accommodating to my friends children that were with us. I loved the rustic, cosy feel of the place. Looking forward to returning when in the area next. 5/5

A bit of drive from us but an awesome morning in Auckland and the drive was worth it.

Smaller than I envisioned but comfortable and once seated it had a great vibe. Constant flow of people picking up coffee orders or Sunday morning treats.

Staff were friendly (the only lady serving has her work cut for her).

We both had the "Best ugly bagels" Farmers Temptation which were fantastic!!! Such rich flavour, it's like eating an awesome pizza on a bagel.

There are plenty other items I want to try, we will need to go back 😊

Food: 90%
Ambience: 84%
Service: 85%
Coffee: 70%

I came here a few times, coffee is always Good, the savory scone is so delicious and the pie doesn't taste fatty at all. I will come back to try more food.

Nice atmosphere and the food was delicious as well. I had the pea and halloumi fritters. So good! Looking forward to trying some other items from their menu

Nice, cozy and relaxing. Food is beautifully presented, all fresh and delicious. They have a small range of cakes for you to choose from the coffee is good!

I seriously loved the food & service here. I was not disappointed with the eggs bene to say the least! The twist of interesting flavours that TT add to meals are so well created. We will be back!

Located in an area I don’t usually visit or live near to, Twisted Tomato was worth the drive. My partner and I meet with some friends here on a Sunday for brunch and it was packed. It’s not a huge place but there is a decent amount of seating. The café is a little rustic with its natural colour palette and wooden walls which adds to its homely vibe. We grabbed the last table and couldn’t help but notice the delicious food passing by from the kitchen. I ordered the Smash avocado with feta served on Quinoa buckwheat cakes and a poached egg. A petite dish but with lots of flavour! The buckwheat cakes weren’t what I expected but they were good and paired well with the avo and feta. My friend’s dishes - Mr Benne with chicken karaage, Veggie lovers bagel and the Big daddy breakfast, were also very good and well-presented.

The service was good, our waitress was patient when we struggled to make our minds up and when making alterations to the dishes. We didn’t have to wait very long either considering how busy they were. Would definitely visit again if we’re in the area – especially for their drown worthy cakes in the cabinet! They are worth the visit alone!

Met friends here for lunch. Really enjoyed the ambience of the cafe and its decor (5/5)

We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered a Banana Berry Smoothie, Date and Almond Smoothie, Carrot cake from the cabinet and the Classic Best ugly bagel from the menu.

Both Smoothies looked amazing when it arrived, with puffed quinoa (im assuming) stuck to the side of the cups, however the taste were not enjoyed as much.. both tasted watered down and liquidy to my liking, for a pretty pricey beverage.

The Carrot Cake, was nice, moist and reasonably priced ($5). I enjoyed it very much, till a discovered a piece of small hair on the plate..

The Classic Best Ugly Bagels, were ok. They came out smaller than we all expected, some of us recieving a few burnt bottom bagels. For the price and taste, I very much prefer getting them from the Best Ugly Bagel Eatery!
Simon Julius
Yummy place - we tried avocado and feta smash and the wild mushroom omelette. The place was really busy and service was slow but the food is amazing - go there!
Eva - Maria Gh
Arrived there at 3.45, ordered items off what's left in display. Food was alright but the staff member at the till was so impatient and relatively annoyed we got there. I understand that it's not the most fun to serve people coming in when you're about to close but this was the 3rd café we go to this afternoon trying to get something decent to eat and we weren't going to give up just yet. She could've simply told us she couldn't accommodate us rather than being sulky while taking the order and running it. I don't think we'll be back.
Grace Leilua
The ambiance twisted tomato has is great! Laid back-chill feel to it. Customer service was excellent- the lady at the counter was all smile and was more then happy to help us. Even though they don’t have hash browns I throughly enjoyed Mr. Benne and my husband enjoyed his “Big daddy breakfast”. The fries were delicious! My hot chocolate was meh but that’s only minor compared to the yummy food. We will definitely be back!
Sandi
Absolutely amazing food. Eggs benny with a twist, pork burger, Lebanese roll and pork sandwich all outstanding.

Any place that can get Mr. 12 to eat verges and complain that he wants more definitely gets a thumbs up from us!

We will definitely come back!
Dini
Only one dairy free option for a place that says that they're dairy free on Zomato. Still, food was good, nice place, busy in the weekends, staff were friendly
Deborah Harrison-Flynn
Had a lovely lunch here. Asian pork belly coleslaw & amazing mushrooms took eggs bene to new heights.
Hollandaise had too much going on but the beetroot purée helped even it out.
Lovely warm atmosphere & nice staff!
Jocheli015
I love me some karaage fried chicken from time to time. And I'm also a sucker for a good eggs bene. And so when Twisted Tomato combined them, what chance did I stand? Little to none of cos. Coupled with witty service and a cozy local vibe, there was no real reason for us not to grab a coffee and a bite here.
Liz Bradley
Somethings changed since we were last there, and not for the better.

Our coffee was a little disappointing, not at the temperature we specified nor made as well as one would expect. Perhaps further barista training is in order.

Food was delivered to the table with a clatter and my bagel was burnt under the sparse cream cheese.

However the music in the cafe was lovely.
Kaydeen Manukia
I love the date scones here! Good range of cabinet food.
Didn't really enjoy the Chai latte though it was weird.
It's a bit too squashy in there.
Hiran Mistry
Food was pretty good. Great service. Cosy and chilled out vibes. Great selection to choose from. Plenty of parking around and not bad on price too. Quality stuff all around. Would definitely come back

Very slow on Sunday lunch time. Waited 20mins for Kids menu pizza ( simply cheese and pineapple on bread ......) and a chips to turn up. Waited another for the other 2 dishes.

I might have had the best bacon and eggs at The Twisted Tomato! Chargrilled with a fragrant smoky flavour. BuT a very average coffee let down the experience.... air bubbles on top of the flat white is not the sign of a great coffee.
Juliet
Enjoyed this place this morning. Yummy food, I ordered the Ms twisted and my boyfriend ordered Mr Benny. Both very good -loved the freedom loaf bread as part of my meal. The ambience was also nice with a big family presence. Would come back here

What an awesome place to try something delicious that's a classic but with a bit of a twist! Loved it just wish I had more on my plate and in my glass just too small for myself & my husband but that won't put us off coming back 😉

Always good food here. My regular business meeting cafe. Favorites are the pork belly salad and peri peri burger. Karage chicken side is also good. Great coffee and smoothies. Can get busy so plan ahead.

I ❤️ you guys! Feels just like home! I've been a few times but they always know my regular coffee, they'll start making it even as I park up. I love their cabinet treats and the creative take on standard brunch options. The date and cheese scone is a must! Atomic coffee, always a winner. Fave local for sure.

One of the best cafes I've been to, so much that when travelling in other cities and wondering where to eat we would often find ourselves wishing to find a place that serves food like Twisted Tomato! Not only are their offerings delicious but presentation is always faultless!! As much as I dislike phones out while eating, it is very hard to resist snapping a photo of the chefs art work to try and copy at home.
Favourite dish - peri peri chicken burger. Favourite drink - chai latte, and banana, almond smoothie. Fluffies are free with a parents drink so fav spot for kiddies too!!

Tried this place out this morning after dropping the kids off at school seeing it was across the road and after looking at their rating on zomato. So I had the big breakfast which consisted of eggs anyway, chorizo, Pork sausage, black pudding, grilled mushroom, tomato and ciabatta with a tomato relish and a herb butter. So the eggs were nicely cooked with perfect yolks which was the best on the plate. Paying $22 for this plate I expected a little more or just even a well executed dish. The black pudding and the chorizo were cooked till it was unrecognizable and the gourmet sausage was deep fried which wasn't very nice. 1 thin slice of toast and some sliced grilled mushroom with little flavour made the roasted tomato a refreshing standout. My partner had the ms benedict. Croquet was nice and again the eggs were perfect. The mustard hollandaise was delicious. Our winter was good but sometimes hard to hear and understand but we were well looked after. I ordered a latte and my partner a mocha both came out like warm but I felt like another coffee which was really good but was disappointed with the chocolate cake with salted caramel and crumbled meringue as it tasted old and dry. We didn't eat the rest.
All in all was ok experience with a chilled vibe but probably won't rush to go back

Took my wife and 1 yr old for a weekend lunch. The fritters were out of this world, absolutely fabulous and my big breakfast was super yum. We tried the banana smoothie on chef's recommendation and it was totally awesome. They had fine collection of gluten free dairy free toasts and that really showed the class. Super happy, will be back soon.
Jessica
I had a terrible experience here this morning. I was extremely disappointed with the service. I went here and ordered a berry & banana smoothie which the only good thing to come from this place. I also had the ms twisted which didn't even come with the grilled haloumi for a meal that cost $22 its fair to say I would want everything described on the menu to come on my plate. I told the waitress about this error and she didn't even bother to tell her manager or the chef and didn't apologise for this mistake. The portion size was very underwhelming for the price of $22. You could go to so many other places for less of that price and get a way bigger meal and feel so much more satisfied. I'm very disappointed that when I went to pay I told the lady at the counter I was unhappy with my experience and she didn't bother to make the situation better by giving me a refund or a free coffee or anything to make the situation better. I would defiantly not recommend this place as there are SO many better places to go for better value for money and taste.
Athena
Went there after reading some positive reviews. Ordered tumeric latte, saffron and cardamon latte and a variety of foods. The omlette was great, but unfortunately, the halloumi on the other plates had a burnt taste. And the bread on one plate was burnt. Service was fine, but we won't be back...
Abbey Lissaman
Fantastic lunch. We went on Tuesday, and it wasn't as busy as we expected, given that every time we've driven past it has looked super popular. Plenty of menu options, the food came quick, and although portion sizes looked small, it was just enough, leaving room for the generous slices of cake from the cabinet! The pea and haloumi fritters were lovely, and the sauce had a bit of a kick but was a great addition. The Mediterranean koftas were also very flavourful. The salmon almost had too much flavour and masked the natural taste, but was still pleasant. Carrot cake was amazing, one of the best I've had! This cafe is gorgeous and well set out, and it's not too close to busy shops, and there is plenty of parking on the side streets. Definitely coming back here!
Gabby
Ordered the big daddy breakfast and lamb koftas. The lamb was delicious but does have a bit of a kick to it! Only criticism is that I would of liked the coffee we ordered to arrive before our meals rather than at the same time.
Ryan Orr
We couldn't get a table at our usual cafe so thought we'd try the twisted tomato... and I'm so glad we did. The place was buzzing without being too busy, we sat down and were served quickly and following a short wait great earthy strong coffee's arrived - great start. When the food was served we were stoked by the look of the dishes but the flavour was even more exciting ... we think that the breakfast may be the best cafe meals we have had an some time!

In the suburban back-blocks of Pt Chevalier lies a little gem of a place called Twisted Tomato. The Huskies visited with a special guest and former Husky, Annie, on a glorious sunny day, squeezing into the biggest table in the petite-sized cafe. What Twisted Tomato might lack in sprawl, it very much made up for in flavours, presentation and service.

The menu was huge, and filled with lots of great temptations including creatively-fused Indian flavours with European and American selections. The Huskies particularly enjoyed the healthy selection of drinks and were impressed by the exotic tumeric latte option. While unassuming and almost missable from the street, Twisted Tomato proved to be a hidden treasure and a massive tick in the box for the Huskies.

Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/twisted-tomato-sept-2016

What An amazing menu and hospitality, fritters are sumptuous and so are pancakes. Had their big brekky and was pleasantly surprised to find spicy chorizo authentic sausages. Full marks

My girlfriends and I decided to finally try this cute little cafe in Pt Chev. We loved the interior and how we received instant attention from the waitress when we took our seats. Looking at the drinks menu, I really wanted to have a wine but the dark creamy hot chocolate caught my eye and decided to opt for that option. My other girlfriend decided to have a salted caramel cappuccino brulee. We have experienced in the past that we shouldn't mess with the simplicity of a self glorious coffee but this sounded too good to be missed out on. Our dark creamy hot chocolate were served, and we died and went to heaven. Definitely the use of good quality chocolate came through. The gf who ordered salted caramel cappuccino brulee was really excited when she saw the waitress doing the brulee on the coffee. However, upon sipping this she was disappointed. She thought it was too sweet and I agree with her. She kept that aside.

Anyways, our food was served shortly and here is what we ordered: Mr Bene with with chicken kaarage, wild mushrooms and polenta, pea and halloumi fritters. I normally add salt and pepper to my food before eating it( I know, a really bad habit) but in this case I did not-the seasoning was spot on! The the combination of flavors were simple but yet satisfied our pallets. I must say we really enjoyed our meals!

As we went on chatting as us girls do, the barista noticed that my friend did not finish her salted caramel cappuccino brulee. We definitely did not expect this but she asked us if she could replace it with another coffee. My friend happily ordered a flat white. The barista was super friendly which is very rare these days and asked to us come in next time because she noticed we were not the locals!

Omg I almost forgot to mention the beetroot and pistachio cake we had. Very earthy flavor and simply divine.

Overall, with the ambiance, friendliness, food and wonderful service- we had a great time and will be going there again!

The best breakfast ever. So rustic. Interesting and magical combinations. Great service and atmosphere. I can't wait to come back and bring friends and family Claudia

Pretty average cafe at best. I'll keep this short. It's an awkward spot which feels crowded. Service is okay at best but had a forced friendly feel. I had the Eggs Bene. Food is over priced, lacks flavour and the portions are small. Coffee lacked any substance but wasn't awful. While I was there it was as if the entire stay at home mum brigade turned up and filled the crowed space with prams. It was as if the wiggles were about to show up and the wannabe pons mum club (WPMC) wanted me gone as they stood over me.

if u are looking for god blessed french toast fit for a ponsonby central regular, come here! so mouthwatering, it has very good bacon so you should be sold by now. Who wouldnt be! also very nice cofffeeeeee which is also very important

So many different varieties of lattes are gracing Auckland's cafe scene. The Saffron & Cardamom latte here is not to be missed. Comes served with a sprinkling of almonds for texture and a pistachio biscotti perfect for dunking.

Had brunch here today. Friendly staff and satisfactory service but as a whole I found the meal lacking (though good value for money). My trim flat white was weak and had a frothy rather than creamy top. The rustic omelette was cooked so long that the bottom was caramelized and therefore a bit dry. "Good enough" but I am not inclined to visit TT again.
Jane Irwin
Very disappointed with Twisted Tomato. No table reserved for us after I called ahead to book, and was assured we'd be saved a table. A lot of the seating was uncomfortable. (With such expensive meals, I'd rather not sit on a stool.) They mixed up our order, bacon came with the wrong eggs, eggs on toast were good though, and good value. My meal however, was $18 for one piece of toast with smashed avocado and a poached egg. This was definitely overpriced, and the taste was nothing special. I could certainly do better avocado on toast at home. Service wasn't great, the place was full on a week day lunchtime, and they couldn't cope. Repeatedly had to ask for water, and then go up to counter for it etc. Won't go back.

Herby and rich mushroom with crispy polenta sticks. The poached egg added to the flavours really well. Rustic fries with aioli is always a classic too.

Went here for first time due to the reviews on Zomato and we're not disappointed 😉
Very small cafe but a really nice ambience and very friendly staff.
Menu is just awesome and really enjoyed our meals.
We were served fairly quickly and meals also came out quickly even though it was busy . So we were impressed 👍🏽
I had pea fritters with salmon and my partner had there version of a big Vege grill with salmon
Both meals well presented with quality ingredients and so much flavour- loved it and we will love to return again to sample more😆
Our latte and flat white had nice flavour but was warm and we asked the latte have 2 sweetners added but this was missing. They may have come out to us a little late as there was a lot customers to be served . Do understand in this instance but we were let down by that.😒
Cabinet items looked great but the menu is just awesome-Recommend 👌🏽😃We will be back again😎
Monique Porteous
No photos sorry! But I assure you it looked pretty good 😎. Managed to get the last table on a busy Saturday morning and I'm glad we did. The service is lovely but slightly overbearing - which isn't a terrible thing! 😋. It's a small place with less than 20 tables so prepare yourselves to get cosy with the locals. The menu caters to most diets and tastes pretty well and the food is well priced 🤑. The food was rather simple but the ingredients shone through. If you like strong coffee this is the place for you ☕️. All in all I would come back if I was in the area 😄

That butter chicken pie ! Okay lemme take a bite and talk about the food reviews. Though it was my first time to this place , the staff made me sit back relaxed and comfortable with good food on my Table. Food was nicely presented and cooked.

The juices and smoothies were good to the taste.

Great rustic little place with very friendly staff, great service & great food.
The bene with wild mushrooms & halloumi was a standout, as well as an excellent country omelette.
Filled up pretty quickly early on a Sunday- the locals know a good thing
I love this place! The cabinet is always full of yummy food and good healthy choices too. They serve Storm & India teas which always makes my morning great. I had the Me Bene and it was delicious, however the boys had the big breakfast which were a little small for the price.

Just wanted to try something new and drove pass to check this little cosy place out. First impression was good and love the rustic timber exposed brick look of it. It is very busy which had my hopes up for great food and coffee.
We both had the latte but had me thinking it was a flat white half way drinking through it.
We ordered the big daddy breakfast and the periperi burger with palenta chips. While the burger had well balance of flavour with the crunch of the fresh lettuce and their home made tomato chutney and soft yet toasted buns were great. However it lack any periperi flavour as the chicken was quite small and dry and all I tasted was bacon. The palenta chips came with awesome spicy mayo had good seasoning but was a bit soggy.Big breakfast was good had a range of food no plus or negatives for it.
What a delightful place to brunch with my girls on a winters day. Not very big in terms of space but taste and service and atmosphere is big. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and when we were short of two more coffee shots she was quick to acknowledge and the extra shot was brought out. The food was delicious. There is something be celebrated when you discover the French toast is with brioche bread. The syrup paired comfortably with the lovely toffee sauce. The twisted cooked brekkie was served hot and the servings of each food ingredient just right. Our coffees perfect that I did two rounds and the freshly squeezed juice was sweet not bitter.
We will return to sample dinner one night. Recommended for sure.

1st time visit. Easily one of the best brunches we've had. We had six people and a range of meals. Not a bad one. Will be back....soon. great coffee.

Been wanting to come here for a while with all the positive reviews and it sure lived up to its standards. Excellent service, very cute decor and such a nice atmosphere with good tunes
Playing in the background.

My partner had "big daddy's breakfast" and I "miss twisted ". Every components served on the plate was delicious, especially their balsamic wild mushrooms !!!! Both dish were Yum!!! Amazing coffee too !

The only slight negative was the kumara rosti, it was too dry and slightly on the burnt side .

Will definitely be coming back for other dishes on the menu!

I love this place and can't believe I hadn't heard of it earlier: I have a feeling the locals are trying to keep it a secret.
Food is excellent in terms of quality, choice and value. It is not your typical cafe: everything is packed full of flavours that you wouldn't ordinarily expect.
The ninjas are always welcome here and everyone is always so nice.
Oh and the coffee is excellent every time.

Went here the first time 6 months ago. Loved it. Food tasted fantastic, the presentation was great, and the atmosphere excellent. Only fault is that it is not big enough, as you have to queue up for a table, and they no longer do dinners, which we found out this time around. So six months on and we went for lunch. Great menu, and well presented. Lovely people and easy to communicate with, so for anyone wanting a great lunch, get there at 11am or else you'll miss out. Twice we've been, and twice we've had great food. Ideal if you are wanting nice flavors and a good presentation of food. Unfortunately never took any pix, the place was packed until about 1.30pm on a Sunday.

Being a Point Chevalierian, it would be rude not to try the Twisted Tomato. A local favourite, this wee cafe-come-restaurant usually always has queues for a table or takeaway coffee (a sure sign of good things). Within five minutes of being seated, our coffee orders had been taken and arrived a short time later (I don't know about you, but something I really appreciate is fast coffee service while you admire the menu). Mr Benne' with bacon was a popular choice at our table and the Twisted Biggy also made an appearance. Brunch did not disappoint. Mr Benne was damn delicious. The beetroot purée was an interesting (but great) touch and the perfect amount of hollandaise was appreciated. A must try if you are in the area for a delicious, well priced, friendly meal.

Awesome little place right in the middle of Pt Chev. Doesn't look like much from the road but is well worth the visit! Service here is really good, staff are friendly, food delivered quick and happy to accommodate menu changes (which I always want!). I had the pea and haloumi fritters with bacon and my partner had the Mr Bennys. Both were perfect, couldn't fault. We each had a coffee too which was delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Food was absolutely delicious. Very busy though and service a little lackluster. Coffee was on par, though they do offer almond milk which is a plus, overall good value for money.

I had passed this place many a times and today was the first time I actually went in.
It was fairly busy and the decor was appealing to the eye. Pretty much all tables were either taken or uncleared and looked as if they had been unoccupied for a very long time before even being attended to. Menu was decent. A lot of great options that are your usual but had a different "twist" to it. Eggs bene with beetroot purée and kumera crisps? Who would've thought? They have funky smoothie flavours and deconstructed iced chocolate/coffee which is always fun.
My friend made her own eggs dish consisting of poached eggs, spinach, forest mushrooms, bacon, halloumi, with a side of hollandaise (yes she was hungry) and I had the eggs bene with bacon and added the forest mushrooms. Very flavoursome and exactly what I was craving.
I highly recommend the food if you can handle below par service. Would probably go again in hopes it was just because today was a public holiday.

Had a fabulous evening with my friends last night at this little treasure. The menu had a great selection, and the meals that we chose were cooked to perfection. My scotch fillet was absolutely divine. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back to this cafe again.

Had lunch with a friend before Christmas. Both went for the pulled pork sandwich and a green smoothie. Wow. The pork was so succulent and had been slow cooked for so long it was almost melt in the mouth. My one and only qualm was that the menu said crackling - of which there was none. I didn't realise until after we left cause
I was so absorbed with my lunch. Can't wait to go back

Ambiance: trendy and comfortable ambiance with good music. Relaxed and feels like home.

Service: spectacular and so friendly. The staff will go out of their way to make you feel at home

Food: also fantastic. I've been there three times to eat and have never been disappointed!

Would definitely recommend.

Cool atmosphere and innovative menu- classic breakfasts with extras. The smoothies and coffees were great. Two days in a row the staff were friendly and the food was most enjoyable.

I absolutely love the little hidden cafes, that I've not really heard about and don't know much about.. But that wonderfully surprise me! Twisted tomato is exactly that! Set as a local spot among a small row of shops for the Pt. Chev residents, this cafe has lots of hip, alternative charm.

The menu has the mains - eggs bene, portobello mushrooms etc, but with cool extras. My friends enjoyed the rustic omelette, salmon eggs benedict on hash potatoes, field mushrooms. I had the pea and haloumi fritter, which can I say... Is one of the best breakfasts I've had. The sauces are mixture of sour from the Greek yoghurt, sweet from the tomato relish with a slightly spicy twist. So fresh tasting and full of different but complimentary flavours, I would definitely recommend trying this dish. No wait times when I went, and the staff were really nice.

Overall, a relatively unknown and under-acknowledged cafe, definitely one to have on your radar!

I love good food & I love eating out when I get the chance. I also have really high standards when it comes to food! Twisted Tomato has the most delicious food I have ever eaten in a cafe! I have been to Twisted Tomato for lunch many times since I discovered this little gem in our neighbourhood a few months ago! You could say I am addicted! Such delicious flavours! I've been telling friends the food is just as delicious as some fine dining restaurants I have eaten at & those that have tried it agree with me. The chicken salad & Thai Beef salad are definitely my favourites. My kids (& I) looooove the ice chocolates. My husband & I had dinner for the first time this week & it was all as delicious as I expected it to be - yummy scallops, calamari, bbq beef cheek steam bun & the oysters to name a few of the dishes we tried. I managed to squeeze in the sticky date pudding & I am so glad I did as it was magnificent! I do also have to give the date scones with caramel sauce a special mention, they are sensational! Finally besides the delicious food all of the staff are so lovely which is why this is my new favourite cafe!!

Wanting to unwind and enjoy a great meal.
Visited Twisted Tomato and was not disappointed.

Coffee
Was well made top marks
Atmosphere
Rustic yet comfortable. Lively music and friendly staff.
Food
Had the Eggs Benedict. Great to enjoy this tradition dish with a twist. Presentation blew me away and the taste lived delivered 10 out of 10.

I would defiantly be back to enjoy the other dishes on the menu. Thanks for creating something a bit different.

Every single time we arrive at Twisted Tomato, Nick & his staff are always smiling, giving us the biggest welcome known to mankind. The menu of this establishment is crafted so as to ensure that each dish compliments each other, and can be paired well with any other item on the menu. The food is ALWAYS amazing, which makes the wait for the food worth it.

Desserts to match the genuine smiles on our faces. Eton Mess with fresh berries, rhubarb and meringue. Chocolate Fondant with Toffee Sauce and Kapiti raspberry sorbet.

Been here a couple of times ... First time ages ago the menu was small so wasn't keen to come back as there wasn't anything else to try..... BUT we did come back earlier this year and the menu was better... Popped in here again to sample most of the starters and betroot salad and fries... No mains! The pork bites were nice but there was more fat than meat on most of them... The fish tacos seemed out of place with everything else though and not that great ... The beetroot/feta salad was nice the pork buns were nice.... Unfortunately there was no Kahawai croquettes.... Then we finished with the Eton Mess which was good although served in the same glass that our water was in.... The service wasn't quite there but she did apologise for that. Would like to come back for breakfast/lunch and give it another try then.
Added another point because...
We came here for lunch and got a chicken salad which was really nice and tasty and got the calamari salad... Which wasn't really a salad as it came with fries and a little coleslaw but that was also really nice. Definitely nice place to try the breakfast/lunch menu.

Great local that we've been to for brunch and lunch many times, always friendly service, great food and good coffee any time of the day. Well worth a visit or 3! Came back again in the weekend and the brunch was great - pea and haloumi fritters were excellent

Always outstanding food in our local cafe / restaurant. If you want excellent quality and unique twists on the classics, this is the place. Super friendly & efficient service, great coffee and cabinet treats. Dinner meals are executed perfectly too and don't forget to save room for the 'happy endings' they are to die for. There are outside tables & soon a little outdoor area at the back too. Don't miss it, it's the best not so secret spot in Point Chev!

What a great little cafe! Stopped by today with a friend and was most impressed. Service was outstanding, but more importantly so was the food. Had the Pork Belly Salad with chili, cabbage, peanuts and lime. The portion was generous and it was delicious as the ingredients in the salad were fresh, fresh, fresh!

Will be back soon.

WOW, I have never written a review for a cafe on an online site, however, the food, the service...the entire experience I had today at the Twisted Tomato today had to be shared. The coffee was outstanding. That's saying something because I roast my own coffee at home from green beans. Consequently, I can practically smell a great cup of coffee from 50 paces. However, the coffee was nothing compared to the pork belly salad that I was served. The salad ingredients were absolutely fresh. The pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender with flavors that left my taste buds screaming, "Don't stop now, eat more, eat more, we love this". You'll love this place too. ENJOY

Really enjoyed my chicken salad, very fresh and tasty. Was nice to sit outside and watch the cars go by. My husband also enjoyed his meal. Would return.

The new local is a must try. Just wow. So good to have a local like this, almost want to keep it a secret. Great food, it's not quiet fusion. But rather just has a tint of Indian flavors.
Adline Shandil
Awesome customer service. Had a great time here and the food is what we call "top notch"!!! Enjoyed every bit of it and loved it all; from the delicious starters to the mains to last but not the least, the happy endings.

5+ stars - Twisted Tomato is one of my locals, and I have only just tried the lunch menu. The chef knows what he is doing, such beautiful and delicate combinations. The service was good, cute decor. Will defiantly go back!

Stopped in today for a quick coffee and to send a few e-mails. The very attentive waitress could see I was struggling to tether and gave me the password to their wifi~! I had Poached eggs on Toast and a couple of coffees. Eggs were cooked brilliantly, coffee was delicious.

The lunch and dinner menu looked delicious. I'll be back to try more for sure!

One of my favourite places. Great food, great service and the best coffee. Came here with a group for an early breakfast before work and the staff were very accommodating, food was serviced promptly and we were able to enjoy ourselves without being rushed. Can't wait to come again

Awesome. Delicious menu, went for lunch.
All day breakfast, yay!
Lamb burger was absolutely flawless, so delicious. Cute decor, nice staff, good spot. I had a free ranged chicken salad was really nice, could of been slightly bigger, especially for the price but overall really good.
Loved the healthy menu and the location.
Will DEFINITELY come again 😀
Laura
Wow what an amazing little place. Thanks to a power outage at home tonight we went on a hunt and thanks to zomato found this place. Managed to just get a table even though they were packed. Had the surf & turf as part of our entree and wow this will be hard not to order everytime. All our meals were incredible and the service was impeccable. How did we not find this place sooner!!!!! So good we are going back in the morning to try out the highly rated breakfast. Thanks to Nick and his team. We will be your new regulars!!!!!

Following a great review in Canvas magazine, I stopped by on two occasions, once for a smoothie and once a coffee. From the outside it's very unpretentious and small. Once inside it's vibrant and cozy, namely due to the happy, welcoming staff. The coffee is great, some of the best in Auckland and the mocha smoothie felt like a satisfyingly good healthy treat. Will definitely be back to try the menu which sounds and looks delicious.
The staff here are so nice! An obvious passion for their work. I had the fitters recommend to me by the waitress, so delicious. The coffee was amazing too, and coconut sugar on the table was a very nice touch. Amazing latte art too. Such a funky cafe, this place was awesome! Will be returning frequently.also returned for dinner and was blown away by the menu, a big table of around 10 and all served and received our food together

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: a very cute cafe with brick features and cool hanging shelves to boot. The space felt comfortable and I liked the chilled indie pop tunes playing in the background.

FOOD: I shared a slice of hummingbird cake with my sister and whilst it tasted nice, didn't really match the expectation of its name. I was expecting a denser texture.

COFFEE: a very nicely executed trim flat white with lovely foam design.

SERVICE: attentive and friendly. They were actively engaging with customers.

I can only base my review based on the food I had today, but I am keen to come back and try the lunch menu. With a few tweaks (eg put fresh water in the flower vases) this place will be top-notch.

TT is a cute little cafe w. fantastic staff and nice strong coffee. We opted to share a slice of hummingbird cake which was nice, but thought our cake tasted more like an apple or pineapple cake. Great decor @ TT though and we're def keen to try some of their other food on offer.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! This is a must place to go! The food is sensational, the flavours are so delicious- a melt in your mouth kind. The portions are big which is fantastic! I rave about this place, it is my all time favourite! Friendly kind staff that are so welcoming and attentive, atmosphere is great, its comfortable to eat in and I just cannot fault it.

I would recommend to everyone, you will not be disappointed :)
Well done Twisted Tomato!

This is a great little place in my neighbourhood...Point Chev has long needed a place like this.

Friendly, great coffee, good food and affordable. The date scone with salted caramel is to die for, as is the breakfast bagel.

Most of the time it would get a perfect 5 star review, but when the owner isn't there the service slips a little. Not quite as fast and friendly....and little things like the tables not getting wiped down often enough.

Still the best breakfast place in Point Chev :)

Looking for a bite to eat on the way home from St Luke's but wanted to avoid the mall crowd! Randomly ended up at twisted tomato! very cute, tidy and rustic - loved the decor and also the music.

Ordered the Avocado smash bagel with bacon, an iced mocha and a brownie to share. My friend also ordered the same.

Meals came out efficiently, loved it - also loved the concept of the iced mocha and mixing it together myself! The brownie was also delicious! Service was very polite and attentive! will definitely be coming back regularly seeing as this place is walking distance for me! thanks for a pleasent afternoon twisted tomato

Beautiful coffee, lovely food and great service! Can't get enough of those haloumi fritters!

I'm not generally easy to please, but during our first visit last night, Twisted Tomato was wonderful. From the warm, relaxed atmosphere, to the great service, to the unique and delicious food. It reminded me of how wonderful it is to have small, neighborhood cafes. Thanks!
Jamie Denton
Coffee, hot chocolate and atmosphere were very good but the food (eggs Benedict and Steak sandwich) was a bit bland for our liking. Overall, an ok experience for lunch, but a good to great experience for coffee

Quite simply one of the best neighbourhood restaurants I've ever dined in. Food is simple yet high quality, fast, efficient and friendly service. What more could anyone ask for? Will definitely be back soon.

Had a great meal at Twisted Tomato. Delicious food, great service & atmosphere. Just moved into the neighborhood and am thrilled to have such a great Resturant in walking distance.
A great addition to the local Pt Chev/Waterview scene. A busy friendly local neighborhood restaurant with a high level of food at good prices. We have visited three times and always consistent. The service is always very attentive but not overly friendly with a seasonal menu and the food is exceptional. Good sized hearty meals beautifully presented. Definitely worth the trip. David Boshier

Under new ownership, visited July 2015 for breakfast. Much more of a Bistro style now rather than fine dining. Seem to be doing a good job. Nice coffee and food poached eggs on sourdough.

Went to Twisted Tomato last night for a casual night out and dinner with my wife. It is not the first time and will definitely not be the last time we will be there. The whole experience was brilliant from front of house with Tamara to the kitchen with Thomas's always very well thought out flavours. Given the history and ability of these two wonderfull people its not at all surprising they have a solid following. It is casual yet offers some very sophisticated meals. I had the Lamb for my mains which I will say you would not find any better at a lot of very high end Auckland restaurants. We hope to be back there sooner rather than later as this place is one of Aucklands little gems.

Cutest little restaurant the maitre d is so lovely and friendly definately gives the place a really nice vibe and the food is awesome especially the desserts. Love the local eatery !

This place is pure magic and well known by the locals. The husband and wife team deliver some of the finest food in Auckland. Luckily we live close so can sample their creations often. The Kahawai croquettes and Angus scotch fillet are hard to go past. Fantastic desserts. Well priced.
Hannah Gear
Wonderful meal! I had the duck, which was fabulous and so succulent. I also had strawberry mousse for dessert, which melted in the mouth. Will be back!
Azwhayn Nirvana Skye
Service was wonderful. Dishes arrived within 15 of ordering. Duck was cooked perfectly and contrast of flavours was a delight. Will definitely be returning.
Ralph Chang
We had a wonderful 11 person dinner here in March. Food was great. Service was excellent. Despite us being a large group, the team maintained high levels of service. Great place, they do all the little things right. Will be back

Was looking for a hidden gem for dinner and really found one. Stumbled upon the twisted tomato while driving to Westmere. We were greeted very warmly by staff and quickly found a seat. My girlfriend who is a vegetarian and allergic to nuts is often seen by some restaurants as a hassle. Not this one, the friendly staff looked after her wonderfully and double checked everything along the way. Steak was cooked perfectly, Gnocchi was light and everything it should have been.

I can't recommend this place highly enough. What a great evening out. Great food and even better service.
Brigitte PW
Had a brilliant dinner last night. Beautifully decorated, clean and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were all amazing, helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble and they were very accommodating and understanding when we had a "numbers" issue. (We booked for 8 but 10 turned up!) The menu was fantastic and all meals were devoured. Beautifully presented, generous portion sizes and the flavors were incredible. Great wine list which had some different varieties we were keen to try. We are super fussy and we were all totally satisfied and will be back soon. What a great place!
Jan Codyre
This is a cute little restaurant with beautiful food, well presented good value for money and a very good wine list, will definitely be back
Mike M
Was fully booked when we rang for my partners birthday, however the lovely staff said they would make us up a table outside. When we got there the sun was low in the sky and quite blinding - so instead of having us seated outside squinting away they gave us a table inside. It just got better and better from there on!
The service was excellent, attentive, warm and not intrusive.
Apertisers were delicious, entree's were divine and the mains were wonderful!
Good portion sizes and all beautifully presented. The Chef is talented.
A well appointed wine list added the perfect touch. At this stage we were happily satisfied customers not needing anything else. However as everything that we had eaten was so good we thought maybe a wee look at the dessert menu was in order. What we ordered, even though we were quite full was devoured as it was dangerously good!
The owner (Im sure her name was Tamara) was delightful and a wonderful host with a genuine smile.
I will be recommending Twisted Tomato to all my friends and family and will be going back to try the rest of the menu and soak up the atmosphere.
Carmella @ Easy Food Hacks
Located next to a dairy and a takeaway on a quiet intersection on Point Chevalier Road, this gem of an eatery serves understated, fresh food with beautifully robust flavours. The evolving menu is simple; four/five entrees, four/five mains and three desserts. You’d think this would make the decision easy. Hardly, the combinations are intriguing and I wanted to try them all. The prices are also very reasonable ~$18 for a generous entrée,
Lisa Edgar
Great date night place. Intimate, candlelit restaurant with outstanding customer service. Huge portion size for quality of food. Dessert is a must!
Brett Hancock
No kids menu seems odd given that it is in Pt Chev which is kids mecca.

Very yummy food, and awesome wine list.
