Review Misters - Auckland Central

Laith Colonica-Ladnier
We "accidentally" found this place via a guide to great cafe's in Auckland. What we didn't know was that everything on the menu was free from gluten, dairy, and refined sugar. Usually when we eat out, we can only choose from 2-6 menu items. Here, we could eat absolutely anything we wanted, including desserts!!! And we could still have dairy in our coffee! Not only that, the food was SO delicious and the service was outstanding and friendly. Thank you, Misters.

Misters is an awesome place! Completely gluten and dairy free kitchen, which means if you are allergic - there is no chance you’ll be “poisoned” here. We’ve tried a few different vegan lunch bowls in here so far, none of which disappointed, especially I would like to point out the falafel, It was out of a competition - nowhere close to any other falafels I’ve tried in whole my life. Portions are not too big, take about 10 minutes for order to be made, they serve breakfast from 7 to 11 am and lunch from 11 to 3. Unfortunately no dinner, but it gets very busy at lunch time. The staff is nice and helpful. Definitely 5 starts to this place and us as a regular customers. The only thing I did not like is that all the dishes in here are single use, even if you order not take away, at least water glasses could be actual glasses but not plastic with a straw, so not environmental friendly. But otherwise, thank you very much for your great work!

I’ve wanted to visit here for a while, as I’d heard great things and it is good. Misters can be summed up as healthy and tasty. The menu is gluten and dairy free. I had eggs benedict with bacon. The hollandaise is made with olive oil and it was really tasty without being too rich. My dining companion’s french toast looked amazing and was apparently very good. My only quibble? They use disposable plates and cutlery. It’s a bit challenging cutting through bacon with a plastic knife and the plates were a little unwieldy. Despite that, I’m keen to go back and try their lunch menu.

Lots of vegan options! The lunch bowls are amazing and the staff is very friendly. I have a nut allergy and they were double-checking if I could really eat the Moroccan Bowl. It's not a cheap place (15.90 the cheapest bowl) but it's worth every dollar. If you're looking for a cozy place to eat fresh and healthy food, go for it!

I came here every morning for breakfast during my work trip to Auckland. The food was always delicious, the staff always friendly and I always left feeling satisfied. As a Coeliac with a dairy allergy, this place was an absolute godsend and totally worth waking up early to come to. Thank you team; I'll be back!

Pictured is the Chinese bowl from their winter menu - I had it with crispy silken tofu. It was perfectly balanced and seasoned. Although I find their lunch prices to be premium, I’ve never been disappointed as it’s always fresh and tasty. Their beef brisket is worth mentioning because it’s also delicious!

Amazing Misters Benedict brekkie - one of the best eggs benedict I’ve had. I used to think their ice mocha with hazelnut milk was one of the best too, but this morning’s wasn’t as good as I used to remember. Regardless, a great place to dine in 👌🏼

Great, healthy, fresh food, good options for all dietary requirements. Fast and friendly service. Nice ambiance. Will definitely be back! All packaging is compostable 😀 #Vegan

Great food! All gluten free, very tasty!

Delicious cacao smoothie and gf/df toast with almond butter and jam! Excited to come back for lunch for more healthy yum. Here are updated menu pics, as there were some outdated items on earlier photos.

Excellent food and service! It is so hard to find a decent option when you're gluten and dairy free, but this spot is amazing. We have had almost everything on the menu (and will be trying more tomorrow) and it has all been top notch and flavourful. Generous portions, decent prices 👌

Great place for breakfast in the city. Loved the pancakes.

The lunch bowls were delicious and lots of great flavor options. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes in the menu. Friendly staff, quick service and nice decor. Would be even better if it opened for dinner and weekends

For anyone with coeliac disease I'd like to suggest this place. Super healthy and 100% GF foods.
Chris Allen
Wow this place is good! So many GLUTEN FREE options and the food was incredible. I went for the "Cali" bowl, and can definitely recommend it. My gf had the Chinese bowl, which was still good, but no where near as good as the Cali Bowl for me! Plenty of good desert and drink options too and all for a good price. Loved it!!
MOORE FINE ARTS
The best cafe in Auckland for a healthy delicious breakfast or lunch. You can treat your Vegan, Paleo, Gluten Free, Dairy Free friends for lunch and there is plenty of choice for everyone! Mainly organic food and as it is an eatery, everything is served in compostable takeaway containers which is also great if you want to take your lunch back to the office or home. The food here is absolutely delicious and very addictive. The service is excellent with staff being very friendly and helpful. Other cafes won't be the same after you have tasted the food here. Excellent quality. Highly recommend!

Everything is gluten free and dairy free. Great food and service. If you are coeliac this is great as no risk of cross contamination. I've eaten here twice now both times amazing food and no issues. Highly recommend!

Rating 4. Been here a few times for lunch now & every time the food had been delicious. The lunch menu is like different variations of poke bowls mashed together. My fav so far is the Bali bowl with beef brisket. It’s a little bit pricey for lunch salads, but it’s well worth it.

This chill cafe in the CBD specialises in wholesome, organic fare and are particularly know for their salad bowls. ⁣
⁣
I ordered the Bali bowl with crispy silken tofu, which came in three thick slabs. As always, I approached the tofu skeptically, but was please to find it had a delightfully crispy crust and was surprisingly flavoursome. It was complemented nicely with the zesty yet creamy lemongrass peanut satay sauce. In the bowl was also brown sticky rice, cabbage slaw, kumara crisps in top- all which worked together nicely. My only qualm was paying $16.90 for a salad of that size felt like a bit of a rip off. 8/10

Great coffee and nice place to visit if you're feeling peckish before work. The omelette I had was made perfectly with bacon and even tomato inside it.

I ordered the coffee in a takeaway cup, and the omelette also came out in a takeaway container. Each table had disposable cutlery. I found it hard to eat the omelette as the container got in the way and it was made even harder as the cutlery wasn't very practically designed. It's good that Misters is using environmentally friendly containers but itd be nicer if these environmentally friendly containers and cutlery were practical!

First review I am writing but first time going to Misters Cafe with my friend and bowls are amazing and healthy!! I had a Mermaid Latte and it was like no latte I have tried! Very special! Is a nice place to revisit!

Great takeaway Keto! Delivery was on time, food was hot and delicious. Highly recommend this cafe and will definitely order from there again

Great, tasty food, and a welcome alternative to more traditional lunchtime fare. Mexican, Thai, Bali bowls etc full of flavour and texture. The slow cooked beef is a must try! It can be a bit noisy (hard surfaces everywhere), but it just adds to the vibe. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a bit pricey, more so now a surcharge (2.9% at time of visit) has been introduced if paying by credit card or paywave (really!?).

I'm going to start off by saying that I have no idea why I didn't eat here ever since I discovered it more than a year ago. Misters has been my go to place for their hot drinks, particularly their almond matcha which tastes great and is worth the money you pay for it unlike many other places where you pay a large price for a tiny cup.

It happened to be the weekend of my birthday so we decided to come to Misters and experience the American express restaurant month which had them add two additional meals to their menu. We ordered one of them, the vegan burger with a kumara, quinoa and black bean party, plenty of vege and absolutely slathered with delicious vegan queso. My absolutely non-vegan boyfriend loved the taste saying that if vege burgers tasted more like this one, he may actually get them more often.

I, on the other hand, got the Morroccan Bowl with cauliflower rice and my God, the falafels that came with it had the loveliest, softest texture coupled with flavourful veges. All the flavours in the dish worked so well, the lemon 'mayo', dukkah, pomogranate... Just a burst of delight in every mouthful.

I highly recommend Misters not just for their meals and drinks but their consistent customer service. They are usually super busy around lunchtime but the smile never leaves their fave and they still have time to ask you how your day has been.

One of my absolute favourite places!! The ambience is just perfect, the service always uplifting, doesn't matter if you're taking away or eating there, you will always be treated nicely by genuinely nice people. Food is always good but sometimes the portions feel a little small and a little bit of chili as an option for some of the Asian food on the menu would be perfect. That said though, it is a haven for anyone with any allergies - if you've got more than two options, it's a treat and Misters is always a treat!! Absolute best thing though is the seasonal menu, how could you even get bored!!!

I’ve been here a couple of times now and enjoyed my meal each time! Staff are very helpful and friendly - plus the range of menu items and products available is incredible (everyone is catered for!) The food is flavourful and good quality, but because of this it is also extremely pricey particularly for the portions that you get (I almost feel like I need to order two bowls to be full!) So definitely keep price and hunger levels in mind before you visit 😊

Great place and vibes. I love how there are so many vegan and non vegan options so there’s something for everyone. Been here twice: first time I got the Thai bowl and the second time, the Moroccan bowl. I liked both of them equally. Reasonably priced too and it was nice that they use compostable packaging. One thing I would raise is that, they take down our names when we order, whether or not it’s eating in or takeaway then they bring the food to your table. I think it would be a lot easier to use table numbers? Because we were a little unsure at one point whether they got our orders right or whether they remember our faces to our names. Also, it can be pretty hard to find seats during the lunch hours, especially as a lot of the seats were for big tables. Maybe it should be more small tables that can be put together to make a big table if necessary because otherwise, I’ve seen people have to sit at the big tables with strangers, in communal style, which makes conversing a bit hard. Otherwise, great food, will definitely be back!

I love Misters. It has definitely become a regular spot of mine over the past couple years and I’m always left impressed! The food menu is always changing and always delicious. It’s so amazing that the entire kitchen is gluten and dairy free, I can actually chose anything I like off the menu! And even people who aren’t health conscious will enjoy it. My only complaint is that I wish they served breakfast later than 1130am! I always am in the mood for brekkie for lunch.

Had no idea this cute little place existed (evidently I have not been keeping up with Metro's top 50 eats - as these guys have been in it for the past three years!)

Love that it's feel good, healthy food that fills you up. The lamb meatballs with the Mexican bowl was such a great pairing and the fried chicken is insane. The potatoes are perfect!

And the iced coffee... I didn't think I'd like it with coconut cream but honestly, the smoothest, most delicious coffee I have ever had.

Plus the sustainable practices are a massive bonus!

My friend and I tried the Raw Granola and Sweet potato roasti with guacamole and leafy greens and I also ordered a Matcha latte with almond milk. Although the food was delicious we found the portions very small for the prices we paid. In addition I did not realize that the Matcha latte wasn't sweetened. However that was no problem at all as it was still yummy and I had a variety of healthy sweeteners to choose from on our table. The Ambience was lovely and unique, however the staff member who served us seemed quite unenthusiastic. Maybe she was having a rough day, maybe that's just who she is. Who knows :/

A colleague at work suggested here for lunch as she can't eat many foods and my first thought was 'oh great, bland expensive food' but I was pleasantly surprised. The lunch menu is very small, only 6 dishes but I had a Mexican bowl although the menu does change. The food was expensive but it kept me full for the rest of the day and was delicious, i would visit again.

I spend a lot of time just wandering around Auckland on Saturday mornings looking for decent coffee.

Haven't tried the food yet, but the coffee here is one of the best in the CBD area. The only other place I found that is on par with Misters is the Red Rabbit Coffee Co in Parnell.
Mysticmojito
I liked Misters, but I didn't love it. It does however seem very popular with the lunch crowd, in fact the interior seems like a bit of a (trendy?) school lunchroom. We arrived just before the rush, but food still took a while to arrive. The food was nice and healthy, though flavour was a little lacking for my taste. Portion size was large, and the smoothie was nice but not fantastic.

I've been here several times and every time the food has been amazing.
Really healthy and delicious.
The only downside I would say is that it feels a bit expensive and the food takes a while to be made. I would give a higher rating if it weren't for that.
They obviously take a lot of care in the presentation and the food always seems really fresh.
The menu seems to change a lot but I've had a delicious omelette there before, before work in the morning. And also the French toast.
I've had an amazing morrocan dish -with dates and a cauliflower rice -once with lamb and another time with chicken.
A good place for delicious healthy breakfast or lunch in the city.
Great food. Yummy Herby hollandaise and I like that the salmon was hot. I just feel a little dissapointed that I paid $35 for a breakfast and I was served on a paper plate and plastic cutlery. I understand it is compostable, but the experience of great food with proper cutlery on a white plate can't be beat. Perhaps I am too snobby for the hippyness of the cafe. Wouldn't come back due to the plate and cutlery issue. Isn't there compostable dish washing liquid for proper plates?
LAC
Love the iced cacao and the green juice. Both very tasty!
Also the peanut butter on toast is to die for! Both the bread and the peanut butter was so delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking of it...!

My main Bae when it comes to healthy cafes. Best and most affordable matcha lattes around town. Highly recommend! Guilt free! I have yet to try their dishes though

I like the menu they have on offer: healthy 'on-trend' food that goes beyond fancy looking salads. There's an interesting range to check out, and the portions are surprisingly filling – but take note that it's a bit pricey for a casual work lunch.

I chose the Chilean bowl with prawn, which was great. My prawns were cooked perfectly; they were juicy and still had their own flavour. The quinoa underneath was plain but I think that is what it's supposed to taste like. Maybe they should offer flavoured rice (coconut? saffron?) instead? However, the avocado in my dish was beautiful and fresh.

This review is strictly from the point of view of a person who is not "all for organic". Hence the people who live and love organic this review is not something that you should rely on or at least completely rely on. Moving on, this cafe is neatly and visibly tucked behind the coffee club on Wyndham street. Went there for breakfast. The decor of the place is very industrial. In a good way. There is ample seating space which does not feel cramped. There is a huge space for people who want to collect take aways.

I ordered a eggs Benedict and bacon spinach omelette. Of Course I ordered coffee. More on that later. The food was pretty good. Not a big portion size but just a tad bit less to fill an empty breakfast stomach. It was served in hard paper containers instead of plates. The cutlery was disposable forks and knives. This goes in line with the organic philosophy. Everything that they use is biodegradable. The containers, the cutlery, the plastic glasses. They have a bin on the side of the shop, when u finish eating, you take the leftovers and/or the containers and dump in the green bag. New Zealanders know what the green bag is. So yeah good job the misters.

Coffee. I love. Coffee, they serve. Organic. Not a deal breaker for me. I am friends with organic coffee. What they messed up for me was coconut sugar. Yes i like my coffee with sugar. Just a bit of it. But coconut sugar just tasted wrong. And they dont stock regular sugar. They did have stevia. Even worse than coconut sugar. So coffee which is usually the highlight of my breakfast, drained my experience here. Please stock the regular sugar/raw sugar Misters.

Pricewise: On the higher side. Makes sense as they are all organic. Costs a bit more with the additional costs of disposal and procurement. $60 for 2

Return: Not on the cards.

Overly Priced for the Amount of food we got. For some between $15 - $20 I at least expect it on a plate and with a little more since its Salad. It tasted amazing but the portion size could be a bit more. I had the Isreali Bowl and my Partner had the French Bowl. We thought wed get chips as a filler but got disapointed, the amount of chips for the price you pay is robbery. $8 for chips that amounted to one potato sliced up. Not impressed. Best thing about this place was the service. The Guy was amazing.

Had coffee (very good) and banana waffles (very tasty). I would say this place is good when you're looking for something healthy. You're not going to get a large (/standard) portion packed with flavour (sugar) but you will leave very happy and satisfied. I also love the serving of food in recyclable containers even though I didn't originally when looking up the place.

Misters would be one of my favourite salad places in Auckland! Their menu is seasonal, so I would like to basically recommend adding the pulled lamb shoulder to any bowl. The lamb melts in your mouth!

Also on my list of loves is their feijoa smoothie and the iced cacao. Both tastes amazing but healthy at the same time.

Although I feel guilty for dropping $17 for lunch, it is totally worth it!
Lauren Carruthers
Favourite smoothie place and love the healthy food approach. The staff know me by name because I am such a regular. Definitely recommend if you're into whole foods and don't mind paying more for quality.
Amit Tripuraneni
Nice place with prompt service and healthy food. I had the 3 egg bacon omelette and it was adequate - I was expecting a bigger portion. Worth a try if you are in central city.
Katherine Witchman
Excellent coffee with excellent service to match. Looking forward to eating here again soon. Great to have a place that caters for all tastes/eating preferences.

Came for brunch. Fantastic place. Wide range of food.
Pleasantly surprised by the Jordan bowl and their Spanish bowl. Drink sizes were a tad small, but overall, very nice experience. Would definitely come again!

If you're into the health buzz then you'll love this place. Dairy free, gluten free, refined sugar free.. It's a health-nuts dream! The Malaysian Salad bowl with grilled chicken breast was divine. I could've done with a few more pieces of chicken but the sauce, noodles and slaw were amazing. The crispy fried chicken breast with aoli was also delicious, with a lovely fresh coating.. Not like the processed stuff you get at other places. It actually tastes good and isn't bad for you either! If only I lived closer I'd be here everyday for lunch.
George Nurijanian
Nice atmosphere, gets loud during lunchtime, but pretty cozy and heaps of space. Only tried the coffee which was ok, not sure about the various bowls which is the bulk of the menu.
Rebecca MacDonald
We checked our Misters for lunch today and it was a perfect choice. Their menu is pretty simple, great salads, smoothies and raw treats. We both had the Jordan salad (with riced cauliflower) and I had it with pulled lamb, and my friend had hers with zucchini fritters. Amazing I will definitely be back to try their other salad options!

So happy to find a place in the CBD serving a healthy breakfast before 9am on a Saturday, thank you! We had enough time to stop in before heading to the airport. The decor is so great inside. I was a little apprehensive when I noticed the disposable cutlery and serving bowls, until I realised it was all eco friendly - good on you! I had the porridge which was nice, a decent serving size for the price, and nice presentation. They were also kind enough to make me hot water with lemon (I'm sick), I believe the lemon was actually freshly juiced as well! Husband had the granola and a coffee which he was happy with.

With an afternoon flight, I packed up my things and checked out of my hotel this morning and needed a place to sit down and work until lunch, when my ride was taking me to the Auckland airport. Right near where I was staying was a place that seemed packed every breakfast and lunch with a seemingly hipster vibe. I’d always thought about popping in but for some reason just ended up at Coffee Club instead in the mornings. Boy do I now regret that. Misters Real Food focuses on organic food with a gluten and dairy free kitchen/menu. The menu itself is designed to look like a chalkboard to the side of the counter where you order from an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Went into Misters for a takeaway breakfast after hearing and reading all about the hype. Ordered their signature homemade granola (with grilled stone fruit). The good stuff: chairs available for those who are on-the-go; a great menu; fresh food.I like they have chairs aside for the take-out customers, very thoughtful. Two customers were waiting there already. One of them appeared to be in a hurry and asked for the time. I thought it's only a takeaway it shouldn't be that long. But later I found myself checking the time as well. The café had customers to attend to but wasn't busy. Finally when I did get my order, it turned out to be a cute little bowl inside an unnecessarily huge paper bag - same size as my shoulder bag. Not something an environmentalist would favour. The portion size was small for what you paid for.The service was fine but average.I would love to try their smoothies but with the long wait and the gigantic paper bag....maybe not anytime soon.
Diogo Reck
Delicates, beautiful and tasteful food and beverages are enough for recommending any place.

But, besides that, Misters is also a cool place with pretty pleasant staff.

Although the chairs are not that comfortable, it's a good place to gather together with friends or to come by yourself and enjoy a good book.
Emily Bell
Lovely staff @ Misters. The food is flavourful. I had the Moroccan bowl with cauliflower rice. The crispy eggplant was cooked to perfection but I felt the cauliflower rice needed some more salt. The babaganoush was great. I will come back if I'm in a healthy mood, that's for sure!
Flora
Friend came to Auckland and stayed in CBD hotel, so I came to find a place to have a brunch together. Found this place in Zomato, and welcomed when we walked to the counter. There's not much choice for breakfast before 11 am, so I chose vanilla French toast and my friend chose egg omelette with vege. It looks and tastes healthy. Tropical smoothie is ok. There're a few ants crawling on the table because plants in the room.

Great wee place for the yogis and the food conscious. Lunch or brekkie are best. Some lovely dessert options to OD on as well. Perfect for solo eating or catch up with mates. Probably not great for the burly hubby unless it's for a snack and smoothies.
Phee Nicks
YES PLZ OMG! I would honestly have Misters everyday if I could. Super healthy and totally delicious! The menu is as fresh as the food; it changes with the season.
Penguin93
Misters is amazing! Good changes every so often, which is nice. Everything arrived pretty promptly. Service is amazing too, they remembered my name when I went back a few days later. The food always tastes amazing, and it's surprisingly filling despite how small the portion looks. Definitely a nice place to go to during your lunch break if you work in town.
Courtney
This place was amazing! Ticket all my boxes! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the location and atmosphere was really modern and fresh, the menu was full of amazing options for all dietary requirements. I liked how the menu had a key indicating which meals were gluten free, dairy free and vegan as this made it easy for me to order a vegan meal. I ordered the Jerusalem salad bowl with crispy eggplant, everything about this dish was so good! The eggplant was very tasty with the sauce and hummus, all together the flavours complimented each other making a very flavourful meal. Next time I would try one of their drinks as they have a range of juices and smoothies.
Jasmine
Love love love this place. I only wish they were open on Sunday's and weren't in the CBD because I don't work nearby and getting there is a hassle! The food is healthy (paleo - subjective obviously) and delicious and there are many choices to be made for your meal. I had the Jerusalem bowl and a super green smoothie. I felt fantastic afterwards. Will definitely be back at some point when I'm in the CBD during the week again

What a great find. It was so great to find a place where I could eat the whole menu!! I have difficulty eating out as I am dairy intollerant and unable to eat wheat and many other food due to medical issues, not a voluntary choice. Your cafe was a gem. The service and the food was better than perfection. Thank you very much. I even got to eat cake:) I wish we had somewhere and someone with your passion down our end of the country.

Misters is a cavernous, high-ceilinged, spacey eatery squished in-amongst the CBD's high rises, with beautiful exposed brick walls lined with lush plants. My first impression was a decent one - I decided to pay a visit to try something from their extensive vegan selection (a smart move, and a good way to keep customers coming back). I visited at around 11am, and at the time there were only two other customers in the entire cafe. I placed my order with the easygoing staff - an apple pie smoothie with house made cashew milk, apple, banana, cinnamon, vanilla bean and nutmeg, and an Indonesian bowl with umami carrot noodles, wombok and coconut slaw, lemongrass peanut sauce, crushed peanuts, and crispy tofu - and took a seat at the biggest table, adorned with copies of Remix, Denzien, and The New Yorker. I must also note their fine taste in music (Jimi Hendrix, yes).

The food was on the table within 10 minutes of ordering - I really enjoyed the smoothie's flavour (the cinnamon was heavy in the best way possible), although it could have been a little thicker (perhaps freezing the banana and apple would be a good idea?). The Indonesian bowl was delicious also, and I loved the thickness of the carrot noodles. The price made me wince a little, but as a once-in-a-while treat I certainly wouldn't mind forking out the cash! I'm not entirely sure that I'm a fan of the 100% takeaway carton thing that seems to be taking over inner-Auckland eateries - it seems a little bit wasteful to me. I understand that the majority of Misters customers like to takeaway, but I always find that eating out of compostable containers really cheapens the cafe experience for me.

I can imagine that Misters would be a bustling hive with good vibes at the right time of day - food is good, smoothies are great, and it's a refreshing change from Queen Street's takeaway-littered strip. Their health-focussed ethos is fantastic, and I look forward to returning and trying out the other options!

Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Value: 3.5/5

Misters is a beautifully set out eatery located just a little way up the hill on Wyndham Street; you cant miss the top hat ;) Arriving here at around 1:30pm with two other friends, it wasnt surprising to see that there was only a few tables free as this place seems to be forever populated with juice lovers and paleo low carb lovers :P After taking a look at the menu, we decided on a Jamaican bowl with chicken, a Levantine bowl with the fritters and a Peruvian bowl with the lamb koftas.

The dishes were served pretty fast (~10 minutes) and actually came ot in tiny rectangular cardboard takeaway boxes even tho we were eating here. Although this is probably great in terms of convenience and environmentally friendliness, I didnt really see the point of needing to waste more trees when these could be served on pretty ceramic plates instead haha. The portions were tiny for what you pay for ( average of $15), but I guess it's all about quality and quantity when it comes to Misters; afterall health is priceless but still expensive when you're living the student life @.@ KK Food time !

Jamaican bowl with chicken: 6/10, the dish was literally what it was stated as on the menu haha rice and chicken with some sauce and slaw. The sauce that came with it was really nice and the chicken was well cooked and moist, but the dish was quite monotonous overall and lacked any wow factor; tbh I'd rather settle for a Haianese chicken rice if wanting to satisfy my chicken rice cravings haha. Not too bad tho ( needed more veges imo)

Levantine bowl: 7.5/10, I had liked this dish better over the Jamaican one due to the fritters and the Tahini dressing that came with the cauliflower rice. The fritters were 10/10 but the rest of the dish also seemed to lack any wow factor. Price may have played a part in my opinion towards this dish as for $14, you'd expect a little more :/ still a good dish :)

Peruvian Bowl ( mine hehe) : 9/10 This was my favourite dish out of the three :) Served on a bed of quinoa with a delicious peanut sauce and perfectly cooked lamb koftas, this was by far the tastiest bowl in my opinion haha. If you're a lamb lover, definitely opt for any of the lamb kofta options as it was packed full of flavour ( similar to lamb sausages, but extremely moist and tender). However, similar to the other two dishes, the portion size in my opinion was way too small haha

Overall, Ambiance was 9/10: Stunning setting with good music playing in the bg, this place gives good chilling vibes and will be good for playing catchups with friends. Needs more tables to accommodate 3 or more people tho haha
Food: 7/10, taste-wise, nothing to complain as flavour combos were yum :) But due to the tiny portions for the price, I wouldnt recommend coming here for lunch if you had skipped breakfast that morning hahaha.
Service: You order at the counter, give your name, they bring the food, all is good. :D

Misters is a great place if you're looking for a small and light guilt free lunch and have the $$$ to afford it. My most recommended dish would be the lamb Peruvian bowl fo sure! May come back in the future to try their breakfast menu :)
Maye Elle
I could literally taste the health at this place.

I got the falafel Levantine bowl which was .. Interesting hahaha.

The portions are quite small for the price but I did manage to get full and the experience is something to be had in my opinion. I personally didn't enjoy the food that I got but will be willing to try other things & for the cause and marketing that they have set out for I do believe it is something people should hold interest in. As Auckland heads towards a clearly more health conscious style of thinking places like this are places to get to before the hype :P
Two people got smoothies as well which were okay to me and of course perhaps due to everything being so health conscious it may be due to that but of course for the lovers of all things healthy this would be right for you.

The place looks amazing as well. A full feature wall of plants and a clean and stunning brick styled area with lots of space for customers.

Service - you order at the counter where they take your name and later serve it to your table. So for the service it is a so so, seeing as it's structure isn't one that really allows service to be shown at its best. The staff seem lovely though (:

It looks like there is a really large kitchen in the back so they probably sell to other cafes - would love to see a cooking lesson done there if they offer it.

I also got the cake afterwards which was sooooo good and it's healthy whaaaaaat?! Definitely get that if you have a sweet tooth (:
I definitely need to try bird on a wire after this.

I just had breakfast at misters this morning! It was delish! I had the porridge with banana and nuts! The only thing I didn't like was the dishes were served in paper containers and not plates!! Though I would definitely go back to try their acai bowls and granola!

I love coming here! The food is always delicious, fresh and wholesome tasting and they change their menu up a lot too. Lots of options for vegetarians and vegans too. Love the decor and vibe of the place too. Today I had the Korean bowl with beef and it was so good. Great coffee too!
Emma
Delicious food, surprisingly packed full of flavour. I've tried the green smoothie and also the nut butter one, both are delicious. I've also had the nacho bowl, which is unfortunately only available in summer which is so yummy. However I have no doubt the other dishes on the menu are just as light and flavourful! My boyfriend isn't into the "healthy food trend" however he loved it just as much.

I went to misters for breakfast and coffee - the coffee was great!!! The granola with apple slaw was nice. However 80% of my bowl was 'apple slaw' and 20% was actual granola. I expected a little more as I left misters feeling like I paid $10.90 for an apple...

I will be returning for the delicious coffee and may try one of their superfood smoothies which looked very tasty!!

I 've been here twice for a quick snack and the place always looks very urban cool. As I am often on a dairy and gluten free diet, I am always on the lookout for places with great snacks to suit, and Misters is one of them.

The first time I was here I had the buckwheat waffles which were pretty good, but the second time I dropped by, I had a slice one of the most amazing GF and DF chocolate cakes ever! I actually went to Misters' Facebook page to make sure the cake was ACTUALLY GF and DF as it tasted too good to be true. Have also tried the orange & cinnamon chocolate truffle which was pretty good. The chocolate treats were decently priced too which is always a bonus. Would definitely go back for more.

Luv their latte made with home made nuts milk !! (choice of Almond, Hazel or Cashew) Taste totally different to pre packaged nuts milk. Totally worth paying extra 50cents for the real stuff!

Average, overpriced food and terrible service.

Every single person working there looked incredibly bored and seemed to avoid entering conversation with me.

Sadly the food didn't bring the experience any points either - I tried the broccoli with some sort of sauce (which was awful) and a Mexican style salad dish, which had a chewy pumpkin stalk in it! Thankfully the staff did refund me and apologise.

My smoothie was also quite average (pumpkin pie smoothie), although my boyfriends tasted pretty good.

Clearly there are some quality control issues in the kitchen and I don't have a whole lot of motivation to go back here.

I do love what they do though, with trying to bring nutritious options to busy people in the city centre (they serve in takeaway style containers, even if you eat in - would be nice to see some proper tableware for dine-in, though).

Overall:
Food: 2/5
Service: 1/5
Value: 2/5

Instagram: @recoveringraw

So happy to have discovered this place! A great place to come with my friends as there are vegan options for me, and meat options for them :) I got the African bowl with the zucchini fritters and it was delicious!
Also recommend the nut butter smoothie.
Can't wait to go back!

What I like best about eating Misters food, is that I feel good afterwards. The food is fresh, mainly organic, no preservatives or additives...real food. The servings are perfect, but if you are extra hungry you can get sides or one of their yummy nut smoothies.
It is so hard to find a place to eat when you are vegetarian, and even harder if you have friends that can't have dairy or gluten. So Misters for me is perfect as it caters for all sorts of dietary requirements.
Although I think Misters is designed to have you takeaway their food, as everything comes in compostible takeaway containers (love the eco side of things :) ) you can't help but want to sit in to eat your food as has such a lovely atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful and the green wall makes you feel uplifted after being surrounded by concrete buildings all day.
The food is amazing..you have to try the Granola for breakfast..it is out of this world! And my favourite lunch is the African Bowl - the vegetarian option with one of their delicious juices or smoothies.
The upside is that you can take all of their food away, and it tastes even nicer by the time you get to eat it. Great for the busy office worker !

I was very skeptical about eating here for lunch because my experiences with this type of food has always been terrible. I ordered the Mexican bowl with the pulled pork and it was absolutely amazing. All the ingredients complimented each other so well and there was so much flavour. Misters definitely changed my opinion for the better

Excellent coffee, loved the breakfast menu. Very chic fit out. Managed to stay for a few hours and get a lot of work done, easy takeaway packaging to head back to the office too. As a bonus, the staff are lovely too.

Disappointed. Lovely decor and tunes but won't be returning. If I'm going out for breakfast I like to eat off plates and drink from glasses. I felt the wholefood ethos was completely out of place with the wasteful throwaway plastic cutlery, paper cups and plates. Food was nice but came out at different times. We'd finished before the last (paper) plate was served. Such a shame, so much potential.

Reconmend! We have tried Mexican bowl and Japanese bowl, very yummy and healthy!
we have been here about4 times a week, every time we were comfortable and happy, service is good too.

Beautiful space and beautiful food that is just so healthy and tasty. It's a shame the meals are a bit on the small side. I had the soft shelled taco's (2 for $13 or so bucks) and although so very tasty I could've demolished another one easily. Smoothies are filling and well priced. I'll definitely be going back.

Simple, delicious and guilt free..
Unfortunate how small the meals are, but it does leave you feeling good.
My favourite place for breakfast in town... Especially if you get there early enough to avoid all the hipster ????
Frank
It's amazing how some rustic wood flooring and a bit of exposed brickwork sucks out all the local hipsters from their burrows, like moles to a molehill... This place was veritably buzzing and it was just luck I managed to find a table. Perfect place for a healthy and delicious lunch, the pulled pork tacos I had were great. Nicely toasted with red cabbage and a bit of mayo :-) Pricey smoothies but then you pay for quality I guess!

I have been frequenting Misters for a few weeks now. I wanted to try a few items on their menu before writing a review so I could get a real feel for their food. And boy, I'm glad I did!

Misters serves fresh, organic, dairy AND gluten free meals and drinks, which is a nice change (and you definitely feel great afterwards). Some meals are also vegan, vegetarian or paleo, so there really is something for everyone!

So far, I have tried their Vegan Rice Paper Rolls ($5.90), Cacao Smoothie ($8.90), Rice Don with chicken ($13.90), Buckwheat & Chia Seed Griddle Cakes with blueberries ($9.90), Ranchero Beans with an egg and chorizo ($9.90) and an Iced Cacao - like an iced chocolate, but far tastier ($8.90). Everything has been great so far - highly recommend the Iced cacao (perfect on a hot summers day) and the Ranchero Beans were so good that I'll be having it for breakfast next week!

The first time I ate at Misters, I was a little wary of the food being served in takeaway compostable containers (possibly because it is so new to me), but now I see that it's great for the environment, easy to eat out of, and perfect to take back to your desk, or to eat later!

They also serve juices and coffee, and the best thing about the coffee is that you get to choose the milk, from dairy to soy, rice, hazelnut, almond or cashew! Plus they use iced coconut cream in their iced drinks - absolutely delicious!

I am so happy Misters has opened. I really love their concept and it is great to try out new foods that you wouldn't normally eat/make yourself!

Heard this place was really healthy and it didn't disappoint. Prices were a bit steep for the main - for the sizing but the food was really tastey and quite filling. I ordered the crumbed catch of the day with avocado and a green juice.

The packaging was quite different in a glass bottle, reusable so quite Eco friendly. Every meal is served in a takeaway cardboard bowl/ plate.

Ambiance is really cool with a plant wall. Next time I go, I'll get a couple of sides as oppose to one meal- I can try everything! It will fill you up.

Been here many times since opening. Friendly staff. Love the food and the drinks. Yummy freshly made smoothies and juices! Good coffee as well (with a loyalty card available). Delicious food! Love the crispy chicken and the breakfast wrap.
Cristina
Gorgeous food, lovely ambiance and friendly staff! Finally a good gluten free cafe in town! They even have in house nut milk for the coffees, my cashew cappuccino was just beautiful and not to mention the berry granola which is to die for :)

There has been a fair but of hype over Misters, especially in the newspaper, Viva etc, so thought it was definitely worth popping in for lunch.

Considering this used to (apparently) be a very grotty Chinese takeaway, the pale looks awesome. Extremely spacious and such a peaceful atmosphere. The staff are very chill, and just the right amount of friendly.

I ordered the flat white and sweet potato tacos. The coffee was spot on and I really appreciate the fact that they don't charge extra here for non-dairy drinkers! The tacos were very tasty, the sauce especially. The serving was quite small considering the price, but still very good. My bf got the fish burger and he said the same thing.

The breakfast menu also looks fantastic, so we will definitely be back to try it! I'm sure Misters will do very well in the CBD as there aren't many pales like it!

I had a good experience coming here for lunch today!
I got the noodle don with beef brisket and green juice, and my friend got the fresh spring rolls (which were a side) with tropical juice. My dish was awesome. The beef and sauce had lots of flavour and the zucchini and carrot "noodles" were great. The spring rolls were also good! And the sauce that came with it was a good compliment to the dish. It's awesome to see more of this kind of food becoming available! Both juices were also really nice.
To be fair my dish wasn't a big "man size" portion, but I found it really satisfying! Maybe if you have a big appetite go for a side as well!
I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Misters is a delicious new eatery that has taken home to an old Chinese takeaway on Wyndham Street in Auckland Central. You can't feel guilty when eating at Misters, with their menu items offering healthy organic and free range eats where possible.

They have designed their menu options to be served in takeaway compostable containers to eat in or eat on the run. I came for breakfast, and i was so impressed I came back for lunch the next day. Their menu items are all about clean eating, but without taking the fun out of food and serving appetising and delicious items. Theres no feeling bloated or stuffed after eating.

The baked butter beans really changed my mind on beans themselves. I normally loathe beans for their texture, but these were delicious. Plus I am an avocado lover so also a bit bias with how much i loved this dish. The grilled lamb biscuit was full of flavour but quite messy, and was served probably a bit undercooked then what I would prefer personally. I was pleasantly surprised by the gluten free bun, TBH I didn't even realise I was eating one until I remembered their whole menu is GF. So great job there Misters! They are that place I have been searching for that offer healthy eats without taking the delicious flavour from everything.

Theres no table service, which I normally insist is important, but with their takeout design its ok. I really love what Misters is doing and will be back again. I recommend them and love the natural interior their cafe offers.

Rating
Food: 9/10
Service: 9/10
Value for Money: Very Good

12 Wyndham Street, Auckland Central
Opening Hours:
Mon-Fri 7am-4pm
Sat 8am-3pm

Yatchi Yan of Zomato NZ and I met at Misters Cafe in Wyndham Street, Auckland to have lunch. Big clear ceiling-to-floor windows with the cafe's logo on top of it makes for a grand welcome and also lets passersby in on a big secret, so to speak.

Inside, I love how the owners retained the exposed brick walls specially on the right side as it lends to the authentic heritage feel, yet still looks modern. Tables varying from a two seater to a massive family size one occupies the second half of floor space while the first half serves as hallway. Interestingly enough, there's a mirror on the left corner, which to be honest they could have done better with other wall art or something like that.

On the far left side of the counter is the wall menu, which has breakfast, lunch, smaller size options for your food needs while a variety of coffees, teas from Harney & Sons, and smoothies for your drink.

I noticed this feature wall of green plants on the far corner of the cafe. It definitely brings a refreshing vibe to the atmosphere. It's like you don't have to wear proper clothes. You can just be yourself, and that's fine.

Our choices for lunch were Tabbouli, or can also be spelled Tabbouleh, with cauliflower, almonds, rocket, roasted tomato sauce, cashew tzatziki, and zucchini fritters. Drink was Dragon Pearl Jasmine tea, which was very fragrant and easy to drink. Yatchi had Rice Don, which was toasted sesame brown rice nori balls, with cucumber ribbons, baby radish, shoots, ponzu dressing, and crispy silken tofu. Drink was Berry Smoothie.

Food was yummy, filling without the heaviness associated with meat, and fresh. I can taste the freshness of the ingredients. Even when the price was usually out of my range when having lunch, this is wirth every penny.

If you are looking for another place to hang out with friends and family in the city, then come to Misters Cafe.

My friends and I went to Misters for lunch yesterday. The interior and layout is nice, I particularly like the living wall at the end of the space. The menu is short but has a good range of options - I had trouble choosing what to have as they all sounded good. I had the cauliflower tabbouli with the meat balls. The meat balls were yummy, very tasty and the harissa and cashew tzatziki were both good too. However, the cauliflower tabbouli itself was pretty bland and tasteless which really let the whole dish down (my friends also agreed). It needed some zing to it - lemon, chilli, garlic, cumin, maybe even some coriander - to liven it up. Hopefully they remedy this. I do want to try the other dishes on the menu though (they all looked good coming out of the kitchen) so I can see a return trip in the near future.
