Review Java Room - Auckland Central

I recently dined at Java Room Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The Indonesian food was absolutely delicious, offering flavors that I won't soon forget. Every bite was a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs. I've dined at many places, but I can confidently say I have no regrets choosing Java Room. Beyond the incredible cuisine, the service was impeccable. The staff was attentive, ensuring our experience was nothing short of amazing. I can't recommend this place enough for anyone seeking a delightful meal in a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you Java Room

There was a group of 9 who attended a fabulous dinner. We were very impressed with the cuisine, atmosphere and service which we received. The selection of food was fabulous and tasty. Great restaurant and we shall definitely return again.

One of my favorite restaurants. Consistently good food and impeccable service. Feels very homely and welcoming.

I walked in and was greeted by Sara, who's parents own the Asian fusion cuisine restaurant and chatted amicably about the food. I asked what the chefs favourite dish was and Tara quickly returned with her mum that selected both the wine and meal. Perfect! Tara exemplified excellent customer service which is a dying art in customer service. Will return when I'll in Auckland.

We decided to go there just to try. We passed in front of it a few times but never really paid attention. That was a mistake! The food is great! Tasty but not overwhelming. We all loved it and we will definitely come back and recommend to all our friends to go. The atmosphere is nice, the service great (arigatou gosaimasu) and the food is amazing! 5 stars is not enough. Thanks again for the great dinner and we’ll see you again for sure!

This restaurant is professionally run by its owners. And they can cater to your specific taste/level of heat/spice. Lovely heated outdoor outdoor area with romantic ambience. A varied menu. We were a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed the evening.

First time dining here. We were in Parnell wondering where to go for a lunch and found this place. It was a lovely atmosphere seated in the covered outdoor area with pretty fairy lights and a great view of the Sky Tower. The service was great and the people were very polite and friendly. Our meals were really nice and so fresh. At the end when we were walking past the kitchen we were thanked by the chef for coming and that was a really nice touch. Highly recommend. Can't wait to come back.

We had lunch The Java Room in Parnell following many months and several attempts to visit in the past. The owner escorted us through to restaurant through he kitchen as we had entered through the takeaway section and we were warmly welcomed and seated after looking around the beautiful indoor outdoor seating areas. The outside area has gorgeous views overlooking Parnell and at night with the fairy lighting, it would spectacular. Following a recommendation from the chef of the Tour of Asia platter, we got to enjoy showcased entrees of satay chicken, corn fritters, lemongrass mussels, pork dim sum, crispy spring rolls and raw fish snapper. For mains, we ordered the Nasi Goreng, Javinese Chicken Curry, Hot Ruby Prawns and Dragon Szechuan Chicken. All of the food was delicious and generously portioned and the requested spice level was exact! Our wait staff were the perfect hosts too. Highly recommended with distinction!

This mainstay of the Parnell dining scene is always a delight. The owners Yati and Amir are fantastic hosts; warm, friendly, welcoming and still manage to be superbly efficient. The food never disappoints and the menu is pretty extensive with something for everyone. The Grand Tour of Asia is an excellent way to start, with a bit of everything, followed by my favourite, Chilli Prawns, again, and they were mouth wateringly delicious when enjoyed with rotis or jasmine rice. Ended with the rich and decadent Dutch Chocolate Cake, followed by the Teh Tarik, hot, hot milk tea, before braving the trek down the Parnell slope in the cold. Can't wait to head back in and maybe I'll even try something different the next time I am there.

I'm sorry, sir or madam, is it true that this restaurant needs workers from Indonesia? The problem is, someone has offered me a job there in the NZ area, please answer, thank you in advance.

Very nice place with yummy food. The owners are also very friendly. Highly recommended

I love this restaurant, great food, friendly efficient service, super environment, comfortable warm, clean, tasty, desserts amazing.  What's not to love!  The owners are always putting back into this great iconic Parnell restaurant.  We've been enjoying meal experiences here for years.  Highly recommend

The Java room is an awesome restaurant! <br/>The food is delicious, the staff is very welcoming and the outdoor seating is so beautiful! This place is perfect for a date night or a night out with friends. <br/><br/>I highly recommend their coconut gelato ! It’s so yum!! <br/>I will definitely be back

Over priced. I got the seafood dish for $32 which didn’t have scallops even though it was listed. It was a bowl of veggies and bland tasting seafood drenched in a pool of sauce. Not a good presentation. Small portion. <br/>This was our second visit to this restaurant- the first time we were left waiting for approx 15 minutes before we were asked for our orders when the restaurant was not busy. Won’t be returning.

Absolutely lovely! The food was amazing! The service, even more so! Definitely will be back to enjoy their delicious food!!!!! 1000000000000/10 for sure!!!!

The Java room is one of our favorite restaurants. Located at the back of the historic Parnell village, a nice tucked away location, with either indoor or veranda dining. The Veranda has views over the  Auckland domain. The service is always friendly and personal. And the dishes are well thought out and very very well executed.  Favourite dishes are South Indian snapper and chilli prawn. The Gado Gado is always tempting. (Side note: It would be nice if it was offered as a side dish). <br/>Looking forward to our next visit.

Very fancy menu but the food lacks depth and flavour.<br/>Too expensive for what the food turned out to be. Three dishes for $65 approx. not worth it

Great customer service, friendly owners and good food.<br/>The chef came out to see us and offered COMP deserte to the mothers on the table as it is Mother's Day.

Average at best. I order the dragon eyed pork, which essentially meant very small pieces of deep fried pork covered lathered with sweet chili sauce and hidden under a forest of salad. <br/><br/>Everyone of a 10 seat table got their orders and mine had essentially been forgotten. Waited 45 minutes, asked the waitress what happened, and what I got was an apology for forgetting my order. 1 hour in total to get my food, 10 minutes to eat it due to my hunger and relatively small portions. <br/><br/>Not worth it.

Visited the Java room on Saturday night for a friend’s birthday. We were seated in the outdoor area which was perfect for big groups. It was a little chilly but thankfully they had some really cosy blankets nearby to keep us warm. The restaurant is well presented with modern décor and is clean and tidy. We had a selection of dishes as part of the set menu to share between us which worked out well. My favourite dishes for the night were the Far east chicken, vegetarian Green curry and the Cripsy Siamese snapper. The food was well portioned and all quite tasty. The staff were kind enough to bring out a piece of cake with candles for the birthday boy. The service is efficient and the staff are really friendly. Thanks for having us!!

A great place to dine casually in Parnell - The Java Room's food has all the classic takeaway feel to it, but with higher quality. The Javanese curry is a hit here! And the dragon eye pork dish is a great choice - a great mix between savoury and sweet. Very friendly staff. 😊

We were a group of 10 and it was a real treat for us.  The host Yati and Amir were just lovely and attentive the whole time.  The food was yummy and all homemade.  I pre-ordered authentic spicy beef rendang and it was awesome. Relaxed almosphere, very generous portions and a great place to catch up with friends.

I'm not usually one to write reviews but felt like this place deserves one. We stumbled across this quaint place and decided to try it out and it most definitely exceeded expectations! Everything was great! The food was amazing and super tasty! We shared the Grand tour of Asia for entree (best of everything!) and that was super delicious, perfect way to start of the meal, not one thing we didn't like on that platter. I then had the Bami Goreng for main and it was very tasty, portion sizes for what you pay are great too. Most of the food here is spicy, so if you're not a fan of spicy food, then probably not the place to go. The decor was also lovely, and most of all the service was awesome! The chef lady (owner maybe?) kept coming out to check on our food and she was so lovely, constantly had a smile on her face and was so welcoming! Will most definitely be back!

The Java room is my favourite Indonesian restaurant in Parnell, I tried almost all their menu, everything is so good and tasty. 10 out of 10. Highly recommended to all food lover in Auckland.👍

I went here a week ago. It's a cute restaurant in one of the ally ways (if you may). <br/><br/>The environment is pretty good, they have indoor & outdoor sitting arrangements. <br/><br/>The food was nice also I had Far East chicken which was amazing & my friend had Javanese curry which wasn't as nice but okay. <br/><br/>The service was excellent which made the experience memorable.

Good Food although took a while to order. They were very busy though which I understand. Server was nice and friendly n kept us entertained. Music could be better but then again that would just be me being picky.

We recently visited The Java Room and it was truly a memorable dining experience. We were greeted at the entrance by lovely hosts with big smiles and a warm welcome and opted to sit in a quiet corner of their well appointed dining area. Decorated with tasteful Asian relics, stunning crystal chandeliers and large French style windows created a beautiful, cozy and wonderful dining experience. The food itself was really delicious. Flavoursome food presented beautifully - it looked, smelled and tasted amazing. It's definitely one of those places that can become a fast favourite and they have a range of food choices to suit every palate. I had a spicy Kung Fu Chick dish followed up with their rich and decadent Dutch chocolate cake and a cup of freshly brewed Earl grey tea. This is really a gorgeous setting and a lovely little restaurant to indulge in exotic flavours. Highly recommend. A must try in the heart of Parnell Village.

Disappointing to say the least.<br/>Poor service: staff could not be bothered/unfriendly.<br/>Food: bland, small portions, badly cooked rice.<br/>Overpriced for what it is. Sorry, I would not go back.
Keith
Beautiful setting with a lovely view of the city lights and an interesting menu with a blend of ethnic cultures. Not as ridiculously pricey as some restaurants in Parnell but unfortunately the food is a little bland for my liking like the previous review. This is a good place for an intimate dinner or girls' night out.
Sharon
Service was attentive but not overbearing. Food was a little different to other Thai style restaurants, some of the flavours were nice but others a bit bland, but felt overall a bit pricey for the quantity.

The food and service here was great! BEST place i have received quality-prices,warm,friendly staff.<br/>Only thing was the toilets were a bit of walk.Food was amazing for the price. Had a orsum girls nite dinner and the scenery was nice- at dark time with the lights all liten up.

If you are looking for some high quality, and most definitely filling Indonesian/South East Asian food, Java Room should be on the top of your list. The food is so flavoursome, ranging from very sweet (dragon-eyed pork) to spicy (South Indian Curry with Snapper) to well seasoned, my personal favourite is the orange duck curry - with some rice, this scrumptious meal becomes addictive to say the least. They also offer takeaways - perhaps one of the best takeaway foods ever, as it is prepped quickly and yet tastes so good every time. It definitely makes you feel less guilty than eating pizza or burgers that's for sure. <br/><br/>Highly recommended, feeling a bit adventurous (if you haven't had Indonesian food before) and a bit hungry for more flavours, this is the place to go to! (You don't even have to dine in if you don't feel like dressing up!)
