Review Goodness Gracious - Auckland Central

Ashi Ezz
**Nice Coffee Spot:** This quaint coffee shop is a good find, specializing in bagel sandwiches. **Tasty Salmon Delight:** I opted for the salmon bagel, and it didn't disappoint; it was a delicious treat. **Welcoming Staff:** The staff are warm and friendly, adding to the inviting atmosphere. **Pricier Option:** Keep in mind that this quality does come at a slightly higher price point. **Street Noise:** Situated on a bustling street, it can get a bit noisy at times.

Love this place! The staff were super friendly and the bagel and the mocha shake were just perfect. Will surely visit again!

Super amazing place! From the cutlery to the food, everything is beautiful and delicious. I love how you can build your own bagel too! The coffee is also very good.

Best bagel place ever, tasty and healthy, my favorite one is always the classic salmon and avocado with Parmesan cheese bagel. The service also very satisfying.✨

Hands down the best bagel I’ve had in my life! Highly recommend the C.A.B bagel. As a barista/coffee snob, I was stoked to have a perfect flat white. Friendly staff definitely check it out. 10/10,

The bagels are delicious! I have been coming to the Eden Terrace goodness gracious at least once a week for many years now and it’s my go to cafe in Auckland. Highly recommend!

My friend and I went there for lunch and we absolutely enjoyed the place! Although it doesn’t offer many seats the environment is cozy and relaxing. I ordered Vegan bagel and my friend Brekkie one. Mine has fried mushrooms, fresh avocado and raw rocket with cooked tomato and catchup. While my friend’s goes with bacon, eggs and spinach. Definitely tasty!! But for us it’s not that filling. Coffee is good too! Will come again.

Just delicious, absolutely delicious!!! The home made relish just brings everything together!! Great hospitality and nice and simple cafe! A must try for all bagel lovers, coffee goes well with the bagel.
Jasmine Gill
So delicious! Prices are a touch high, but the food is definitely worth it. Coffee was delicious, service was fab, and the food came out quickly. Big recommendation for these awesome guys!
Paora Morrison
Amazing fresh bagels and great coffee. Food came out very fast and staff were super helpful but not intrusive.
Mathieu Dube
Excellent coffee and staff is so nice!! Try it!

Never have I left this place disappointed! Coffee is great, the food is even better, service is genuine and real and the wait time is outstanding! Cheers guys, we will see you again!
Eric Kim
Nice coffee, friendly staff. Price is reasonable. Small but very compact. Toilet available. Good place to have a coffee break.
Tayla Saunders
Best bagel I’ve ever had. Amazing service, friendly staff and delicious food and drink.
Gemma Dutton
Awesome little place, great coffee, lots of menu choices and the bagels are full of fillings. CAB and vege bagel were both excellent, as was the top notch customer service. Perfect example of how a small business should be!

Neat, tidy and comfy little place. Friendly staff who ensured we are well looked after. Food was delish. Ordered The Sampler $18 for 3 mini bagels because I wanted to try a few types. That meal allowed me to choose 3 options out of 5. I had the classic (salmon n avo), Kransky, Chicken n Avocado. They were YUM! Also had the Apple n cinnamon muffin - tasty n not too sweet. Tried Organic cola for the first time and it was surprisingly good, with less fizz. The reasons for not rating it 5-star were the lack of parking and food was a wee bit pricey.
Holly
Decent bagels, I recommend trying the tasting platter which has three different flavours of mini bagels. They can be a little on the dry side though. I would come here more often if they had more seating and shelter from the wind, but getting a table that isn’t exposed to the elements is basically impossible unfortunately. In winter you’re definitely better off if you take away.
Biani Hoskins-Peri
What’s not to love? Their food is amazing, my faves are the Wilbur, the CAB, the BLAT and the bene bagel! They serve great coffee and scrumptious smoothies! The staff are always super friendly too
Angie
The cafe is quite small. I love the coffee there. we ordered two bagels. I can’t believe the portion is so big, two people can share one.

Small little poky cafe In busy Eden Terrace, coffee is good but pricey. Just called in after dropping my bike into Bike Barn for a morining fix. Wednesday 2nd October 2019.

BEST bagel cafe ever.

-Price was excellent.
-Bagels were full of flavour and the ingredients inside were very generous.
-Coffee was delicious.
-Staff were super friendly.
-I would highly recommend the tasting bagel platter - gives you three mini bagels with a selection of tastes (Helps for indecisive people like myself).
-Music was low key and went with the vibe of the place.

I am looking forward to heading back to try some more of their bagles ASAP!

My go to bagel place!! Everything is always fresh and tastes amazing. I also really enjoy their mochas. I did get one of the shakes once- the peanut butter one but it tasted really “healthy” and wasn’t really sweet enough for me.
Kate Paddy
Fast service, very attentive staff and always delicious! Highly recommend this place, have been here three times in the last two weeks. Only wish there was more seating, but otherwise this place is perfect.
Cairan Merissa
Great customer service, what can i say ! Food was awesome and everyone was friendly and welcoming. Outside tables are great if you have brought your dog along.

A popular breakfast option amongst my Mediaworks brethren. This cute cafe on the corner of Symonds St & Mt Eden Rd is nothing short of amazing. The staff are always friendly and the bagels are to die for! They make a mean mocha here too. There isn't a tonne of seating options but they make do with what they've got; not that it matters to me though, I only work down the road and I'm more than happy to spill salmon & cream cheese all over my keyboard
Greg
Come here often, the staff is quick and friendly. Food is always good, sometimes amazing but occasionally at peak times and bacon and egg is a little overcooked other than that really great!
Yoda
Great at any time. Breakfast is our preference. The brekkie bagels are delicious.
Loaded bagels with good coffee - what more could you want?
FoodiesTable
One of the best eggs benedict we have ever had. The sauce is just so creamy and delicious. Also love their bacon it’s perfectly cooked. Bagel is yum too
Anna M
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. The BEST almond milk coffee i've EVER had and I don't say that lightly. Bagels are pretty dam n awesome too. Great vibe and very welcoming staff.

Definitely the best bagels and coffee. Generous amount in the bagels and the staff really great, Will definitely be going back to try another bagel and an iced coffee.

Great Coffee and delicious bagels. Been here a couple of times now and the coffee is lit..and they do a mean cortado. We had the vege bagel and bagel woth jam and lemon curd..both were excellent!!!
Gnxsta23

Came here for brunch for the first time and ordered the sampler, everything was spot on. Would definitely recommend getting the sampler if you're indecisive. I can't wait to come back again.

After all the fuss over this place in the news recently and reading someone’s opinion, I decided to go check the place out to gather my own opinion also.

The bagels are ok. They aren’t freshly baked at the cafe so I wasn’t expecting to have my mind blown and it wasn’t. My feedback for this is that the place that’s main product is bagels should at least attempt to hand craft them. I think doing this would be really beneficial and make their meals taste a lot better and more fresh.

I ordered the classic bagel, for 12.50 I think it’s pushing it considering the bagels are store brought. There was nothing special about this bagel that made me want to come back in my opinion considering the high price.

I hope the owners consider this as feedback and my own opinion and use it to improve. Nothing can ever be perfect and the best restaurants keep innovating, keep moving forward and take feedback into consideration to keep doing so. Will definitely come through again in a few months to have another try.

Read the news. So I thought I myself, someone with better credentials, that doesn’t swear and has 10million views on Zomato should give it a go.

Absolutely delicious. Great coffee too. The bagel is heaps better than best ugly as it has tasty meats and veges whereas best ugly only has plain boring bagels.

Will be back again.

Delicious. Keep up the great work so I can come back with friends and family!

Service: 4.5/5
Environment: 4/5
Presentation: 4/5
Food Quality: 5/5
Food Quantity: 5/5
Price per person: $10-$20

Was recommended this place by the chick that did my lashes today and I straight up think this is the best bagel I’ve had in my life.

Cute cafe on the corner with great service, great food and great coffee. Will definitely be back.
Kelly
Amazing bagels. The portion sizes are generous and the flavours are delicious. Have always had super friendly service too. The C.A.B. Bagel is out of this world! The perfect blend of chicken, avocado, bacon, aioli and rocket. The Kransky is also incredible and filling. A major bonus is ordering and paying for it online, and being able to pick it up within 10 mins every time. Love it!
Sam Chen
Good food and good service. Love the bagel burger. The salted caramel peanut butter smoothie is amazing. There are heaters outside so in winter it’s perfect to sit outside.
Darren Big Belly
Bagels were great! The cheese and sauce was bit too salty for me.
Coffee was really good too.
This is primarily a takeaway place I guess so the inside was tiny and narrow.

Food: 4.5/5
Setting 3/5
Staff 4/5

Came here for breakfast this morning after driving past on a daily basis and seeing it absolutely packed all the time! Had the Cab, it was absolutely delish. Coffee excellent too. The guy working the coffee machine (may have been the owner? Not sure, Asian guy) was lovely too, just a really nice customer service manner. Will most definitely be back with boyfriend in tow - he's very jealous I came without him!

Not only are the bagels and coffee nice here, but I also recommend the salads – large and good quality. I’ve tried their Breakfast Salad. You can definitely get your money’s worth right here. Just wish they'd have more seating area!
Beccs
Great coffee 5/5!!! Service always prompt and with a smile! A tiny place and often we have to wait for a table but this is never a problem! Parking next door.
João Plácido
A nice to have a Sunday breakfast.
Very friendly staff and the bagels are very good (specially the Wilbur and the Brekkie).
The only downside is there's not many seats
Y Anne
Came here on a weekday afternoon and didn't have difficulty finding a table. However seating area is very limited and many people usually do takeaways. Love their coffee and bagels are delicious. Staff are friendly and check back on you. Also love the fact that they've got a clean toilet inside.
DC
If you want a great coffee in Auckland this is one of the best. The place is tiny but the staff friendly and efficient, keeping their customers happy and coming back for more. Food is also pretty delicious. There is a small car park beside the place.
D Leow
Came here to try the infamous bagels out and I was not disappointed!! I would definitely recommend the Wilbur (pulled pork), the CAB (chicken and avocado) and the Breakfast bagel! There is also the option to choose your bagel type and I really loooooveeee the parmesan bagel :) This is a must try for everyone who’s around the corner 👍🙌
Connie
Best bagel - it’s soft inside and “crispy” outside .. just the right texture for the bite.
One of my fav ..
The Wilbur Bagel > Love the generous serving of the spiced Pulled Pork, so tasty & yummy and you will be hooked .. and their GG Apple Chutney.. can never have enough of it!!
Oh did I mention the Great GG coffee too!!
Not to forget their friendly and warm service too!

Briar McGlynn
I was here on Saturday and got a takeaway bagel which while tasted ok, was just thrown into a paper bag so half the spread was attached to the top of the bag :( but the thing about this cafe that really stops me going back is the really rude girl who served me, every time I have been she has been very snappy and unpleasant.
Harley Broughton
These bagels are the bomb! Compliments to the chef! A mate i used to work with showed me this place and I used to work just around the corner so i used to come here pretty much every lunch break. Tried them all! mean as! My favourite was the breakky bagel and the kransky bagel :) Worth the coin!
Misscocolitten
They have a massive bagel selection to cater for everyone, including pregnant women! However, the highlight is their coffees, one of the best soy flat whites I’ve ever had! The staff are super friendly too so what’s not to love about this place.
Diogo Reck
If I knew bagels could be that good I'd have come here ages before.

Definitely one of the best places for breakfast in Auckland: good food, good coffee and good service. My bagel had the perfect balance of flavour and freshness. Wanna come back here so many times!

Goodness Gracious does not disappoint 💛

Service/Ambience: Came on a Saturday around lunch time and the place was packed. The whole store was kinda small and it’s only good when it’s sunny so people can seat outside. We stood there for a good 10 mins waiting for the manager to notice us when we should have told him that we want a table. Anyway we finally got seated and the waiter was very friendly. He got us water and took our order right away.

Food: I ordered The Samplers since it was my first visit and I don’t know which bagel to get. I choose The Cab, The Kransky and The Classic. My favourite is the Kransky, I mean I could eat this everyday, although it might not be the healthiest but it is so delicious. Second favourite is the Cab, the amount of avocado, chicken and bacon in there is very generous and they all mixed well together with the aioli. The Classic is also good but I prefer it more if the salmon pieces weren’t shredded. As for my friend, she ordered The Breakfast salad and loved it too. The portion is quite big as well.

Price: mine was 18$, worth every penny. The range is 10-18$, totally justifiable given the quality and portion.

Overall, I’m super happy, fulfilling and excited to come back and try other dishes. Highly recommended!!! 💓
Lucy
yes, this place. My boyfriend and I have nursed many a hangover at GG Eden Terrace. I like to sit outside to people watch, but have sat inside the last couple of visits and felt our experience was enriched by the staff banter - it seems like an epic place to work at because of the culture & people.Coffee is consistently great, I'm obsessed with the dinky small-town NZ teaspoons that come out with it, also you can buy beans to take home!

I haven't tried a bagel here that I didn't like, but most of the time I can't resist ordering the CAB (they will add tabasco if you ask, which you should). You get a heckin huge pile of chicken, bacon, and avo with aoli + rocket for ELEVEN DOLLARS, aka chump change. Other special mentions include the classic (hot smoked salmon aww yee), the vege, and bf always gets the chilli con carne which is uuge and delicious. Got so excited writing this that we are going to head in for lunch soon haha. See you soon goodness gracious, love you xx

For a place that specialises in bagels, this place definitely does not disappoint. The textures of their bagels were perfectly chewy, definitely the best that I have had.
There were lots of fillings to cheese from. The pulled pork was tender and flavourful, although had a huge kick to it, not for the faint hearted! If you could not decide what to have, go for the sampler - where you get to try three mini bagels of your choice. The CAB had a generous amount of avocado, and the sausage and relish the used for The KRANSKY was delicious! Might go for a fill-size next time.

Their machaccino was nice and strong too. The only downside is that the place is quite small. if you come too late or with a bigger group you will have to dine outside. Not a problem if its a sunny weather, but definitely not for those rainy days!
Jasmine
The bagels here are some of the best in auckland! Portions sizes are generous and the staff is amazing and the bagels so tasty! I learned that everything is house made (except the bagel) which makes the experience all the better!

I have had many of the bagels so far but my favourites have to be the kransky (with a poached egg) and the louie(so spicy it's amazing).

The juices are also really great, all fresh and tasty.

Both stores (mt eden and parnell) are fantastic.
Chomnomnom
Came by on the weekend during lunch hours, luckily for us a table came free as we arrived so seated pretty much straight away. Tried the sampler - the CAB, the Classic and the BLAT. Perfect if you're indecisive or want to try a bit of everything 🐽🐽

CAB was the winner, hands down. Nice to have tried the others but considering value for money, would def go for a full size CAB next time. Unfortunately the mini bagels don't have different options either (sesame, wholemeal etc).

Vegan GF double choc cookie (supplied by moustache) was yum. Service was good.
Taylor Compain
Absolutely love this place! Perfect for a quick bite/first date/easy breakfast if you live centrally. Nice atmosphere and the staff are effing awesome!! Highly recommend this place. Only downside is lack of parking but nowadays it doesn't really matter. 100% love it
Roni Ramone
Someone from work ordered a bunch of bagels for us and brought them back, so I wasn't able to check out the place for ambience and service and all that, however the vege bagel was absolutely delicious. I love me some haloumi, and I love how there options for different kinds of bagels and also vegan. The only problem was that it was gone too quickly! Great little bagel place for the city fringe.
Connor X
I don't have photos to dazzle the readers of how great these guy's bagels are. Well priced, well portioned and not to mention delicious bagels to have as a meal or as a snack. I'd always drop by when I'm in the area just to satisfy my stomach. I recommend to try every variety they offer and don't be afraid to have more than one bagel.
Mysticmojito
I love this place. My friend introduced this little spot to me and its been a favourite bagel spot every since. Far prefer to Best Ugly. Good coffee. Yummy bagels. Tiny spot though, but worth the cue. The service, although not superb, is down to earth and appropriate for a bagel spot. Welcoming and helpful nonetheless.

Would love to see them keep experimenting with the menu some more.
Michelle S
Goodness Gracious is a small place so maybe call in advance during peak times to make sure they have a table available.
Coffee - Made to perfection and should definitely be tried by any coffee enthusiast.
The CAB Bagel - Simple but yet so delicious! There was a fairly decent amount of chicken which I was super surprised with considering the size of the bagel
The Bene Bagel - Perfectly poached egg and really complimented this bagel. When you thought eggs bene couldn't be any better! The salmon wasn't too salty which is what I usually dislike about other cafes.
The Wilbur Burger - The pulled pork was super succulent and flavoursome! Had a try of my friends and honestly was blown away! Usually not a big fan of pulled pork options but this one was amazing! Right amount of flavour and portion size was very filling as well.
All 4 of us loved our bagels and we're toasted to absolute perfection! This place is a must try!
The Welly Mex
So good, just as good if not better than Mr. Al Brown's Best Ugly.

Great coffees and the CAB Bagel was sooo so good.
Chicken was nice and creamy and the bacon was crispy and perfectly salty.
Filling, too. Usually one bagel isn't gonna do it for me, but this one was on point, yo.

Great place to bring your dog as well, and the staff were very welcoming with a little tray of water for the pup.

Only downside is the bus route that goes by right outside, so it gets a little noisy.
Ellynn
Service was so bad! We went there to buy drinks and bagels. I ordered a juice and the basic bagel with jam and lemon custard while my friend ordered the same thing. It took them 45mins just to give us what we ordered. The people after us that were eating dine-in got theirs first. So bad. Will definitely not come back. I waited so long that it wasnt even worth it anymore. It was just bagel, jam and custard.. it was even messy when i opened my paperbag.
Justinelaboisse
Can't think of a better place for a Sunday brunch. Their bagels are awesome and the orange-apple-lemon juice is the best I ever had. I highly recommend this place.
Nic Grantham
I love Goodness Gracious it is has my weekend local for the past year, I've pretty much tried everything on the menu. But the eggs Benedict has to be my favourite quite possibly the best hollandaise sauce in auckland.
Tommy Ocean
Small but mighty is Goodness Gracious. A couple downsides but always a pleasurable experience.

I had one girl serve me the first time I went in who came across as cold and uninterested in being there but apart from her, all staff have been attentive and interested in us having positive dining experiences.

The coffee has been consistently good and silky. The bagels are top notch and so cheap considering how much other places charge. They're also put together for you instead of having to piece it together once served. Like, how many more steps do we really need between buying the food and getting it inside my face??

As said in my first sentence, Goodness Gracious is small. There's like 3 or 4 tables inside which run along the wall just across from the kitchen. Staff walk along there regularly which could be annoying. There's some longer bench seats outside that could fit perhaps 8 people at a table and then there's a couple of square wooden boxes with cushions that can be moved around. So, seating is slightly limited. Also, there can be quite a bit of traffic. Busses, cars, trucks. It's just down from an intersection which means traffic starting and stopping.

I would bump my rating up to 4.5 if they were at a better location. Somewhere a bit more tranquil with music. Perhaps some grass. The location and size are the issue.

Summary: It can be noisy and seating can be scarce but on a sunny day, there's lots of blue sky to be seen outside. On a cold day there's wall mounted heaters. The bagels are delicious, well priced and ready to eat. The coffee is excellent. I definitely recommend and will absolutely be going back many times again.

My partner and I and I had been eyeing up this place for a few weeks, there’s always stacks of people outside Goodness Gracious on Eden Terrace, so with great anticipation we schlacked (is that even a word?) ourselves out of bed and headed out the door to investigate this exciting little hole in the wall! Now we both had our work X-mas do’s the night prior and were both rocking pretty severe hangovers, the kind that make you want to drink all the Blue Powerade in the world and bury noisy small children alive.

We were lucky enough to get a seat inside. The building is split into 3 parts, the kitchen out the back, the middle area where there are a few tables for 2 alongside a drinks prepping area, then the front counter where orders are taken and coffee is made. It’s quite impressive what they’ve managed to fit into such a small space. What’s also impressive is the volume of food and drink these guys are able to pump out.

An abundance of different Bagels to choose from, they go from your standard breakfast Bagel fillings, to more lunchy fillings and pretty much anything in-between.

We chose the Eggs Benny Bagel, visually impressive with a generous serving of bacon, a drizzling of hollandaise and a smattering of baby spinach, eggs cooked perfectly! I went for the Chili Con Carne Bagel, equally as impressive visually, a generous portion of Beef Chili with a man sized dollop of sour cream. The Ratio of sour cream to chili was good, it needed to be as this Chili had a kick to it! There was a friendly warning about this when I ordered the dish. I did feel that this chili was a tad on the sweet side for my liking but you can’t please everyone all the time can ya? As my father would say, “to each their own ….”

The wait for the food wasn’t too bad considering we had visited during peak brunch hour on a Saturday. We’ll be back again very soon to Goodness Gracious, can not wait to get my lips around that Pulled Pork Bagel!

@Greg – Thanks for you feedback on my initial review. You really gave me some food for thought (pun unintended). We will see you and the team very soon to sample more of the deliciousness at Goodness Gracious, sans hangovers this time!

Two bagels are in the oven, first one says "Wow it's hot in here." The second one says "Oh my god a talking bagel!!”
Olivia Barnett - Naghshineh
Affordable and delicious, can guarantee the BLAT will always be good and the gluten free bagels are spot on. Great service and a quick and easy place to get a solid breakfast!
Kaash
I visited this cafe recently and needed to make some changes to an item on the menu (due to allergies). The waitress was very friendly and accomodating, but the kitchen staff were downright rude. We could hear them making jokes and comments about the changes I requested from my table - which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. None of the staff made any effort to apologize either. If the waitress hadn't been so friendly - I would give them a lower rating.
The food itself was okay, but not worth it.
Mmmfood
This place deserves 5 stars all the way! Try any bagel on the menu, they are all amazing. My personal favourite is The Cab. Add one of Auckland's best coffees to that and you've got yourself a meal. If you're not into coffee, try one of the fresh juices - very recommendable. The ambience is brilliant. You're basically sitting in a garage fitted out to be a cafe listening to some seriously good music, enjoying some seriously good food. And big ups to the staff for always being super friendly despite always being crazy busy.
Ben Jammin
Hands down, the best value breakfast I have found in the central Auckland suburbs, or anywhere in Auckland for that matter. These guys do bagels which are best eaten with knife and fork rather than the hand held versions you may be used to. BLAT is a real winner with generous helpings of bacon and condiments. Chilli con carne has a very generous portion of mince on a split bagel. The rest of the menu is filled with great choices. Great coffee. Friendly, fast service and their transformation of an awkward small space into a setup which looks great and caters to a decent amount of people is awesome. Some may prefer a cafe with a nice garden, but I really like the tables setup curb side to take in the urban vibes sitting by Mt Eden Rd and Khyber pass. I leave this place ultra satisfied with a BLAT bagel and flat white for 13 bucks! So good I've taken all my friends here, Goodness Gracious has become a go-to cafe for me to return to happily again and again - something that I have found surprisingly hard in Auckland thanks to the various combinations of bad service, high prices or poor ambience that other cafes in the city's central suburbs often offer. Go there today!
Laura McWhirter
Bagel heaven! This place is so good. I've been here a few times now and it's has been consistent every time. Amazing coffee and I love the BLAT bagel. I always notice the queue out the door, it's a small place but pretty quick turnover. Really fast service. These guys are awesome :)
Joanna Koat
Came here for Saturday brunch. The breakie bagel was delicious. Fried egg with bacon, spinach tomato and yummy aioli & tomato relish. Enjoyed with a killer coffee milkshake 😍
Kelly
Decided to come here for some bagel goodness after hearing some good reviews!

I'm please to confirm the positive reviews for this place! It's a very little eatery, but it accommodates a lot of people quite comfortably for its size! They definitely know how to utilise such a small space.

We orders a Bagel Burger, Cab Bagel and a Bagel Sampler that had three mini versions of some of the bagels on the menu (cab, kransky, and classic)

Definitely very filling! Generous portions of fillings! My favourite would've been a toss up between the Cab Bagel and the Classic Bagel. The cab bagel can be quite creamy, I enjoyed my bite size versions compared to the normal size!

Overall, very satisfied with the bagels. Highly recommend and will definitely be back when I'm craving for some bagel goodness!
Wesley
I ordered a chicken salad and the chicken was dry and tasteless. My partner order a bagel burger and it was not too bad. Coffee was good tho.
Jasper Eaton
Hands down one of the best eateries in town. Consistent coffee perfection with the best eggs benedict in town. But be quick, people come from afar and the seating is thin.
Athena
Great place for brunch on the weekends, very busy place so we usually get the food take away! Our absolute fave is the vegeterian one which we order without tobasco, relish or aioli--> we just find that these sauces make the bagel heavier and messier to eat as they go everywhere.
We have also tried the salmon bagel but that was a bit too filling for brunch.
Their coffee is great, staff are attentive, perhaps the only downside is finding a carpark!
Avi
Went here for lunch today. Cool vibe. Outdoor seating was great despite street noise. Chicken salad was delicious. Coffee excellent. Service was also great. Recommended.
Rebecca
I always sit outside as the music is rather loud inside but other than that, Goodness Gracious is always perfect! Delicious bagels with many options, good drinks, cool space.
Mary
Best bagels we have ever had! It's now a local for us for lunch a 5 min walk away. Blat bagel is amazing and the coffee is pretty great too! Highly recommend this little place!
Rona Dalgleish
Best bagels! Had an off the menu vegan bagel with fried mushrooms, avocado, tomato, cos and tomato relish. I loved it! If only they had more seating available! Highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone! 🍴
Max Sobels
Great brunch spot! The bagels are a generous size and very reasonably priced! Nice decor, with a simple clean interior and unfussy cutlery. Decent veg options and a fun drinks menu! It is very tiny and you sometimes have to wait for a table but the wait is never long and the staff make sure you still feel welcomed. Consider this to be the best bagel place in Auckland!
James
Great coffee and very nice bagels - a local favorite . We always get the brekkie bagel which they serve on a sesame seed bagel with bacon ,aioli, relish ,fried egg ,bacon and spinach . It goes very well together and the coffee is always good . Usually Good energy at this place also always playing some cool tunes
Fries With That
Fantastic bagels to be had here, have tried most of their options and strangely I love the vegetarian option the best, the flavours are so well put together at the end of eating you can't stop smiling. The service is very good and clientele are a great mix of local office workers and funky types. This place is an easy recommend to anyone looking for a outstanding lunch! Definitely one of my favorite haunts.
Louise MacNaughton
One of our locals for over a year now!

I love that every time we come here, it's consistently good. Never any off days, guaranteed an amazing bagel each time! Coffee is offffff da hook as well.

I recommend the CAB (chicken, avocado, bacon) or the kranksy, although everything on the menu is equally as good.

Awesome service, the workers treat us like family. Always an enjoyable experience, thanks guys!

Amazing bagels you get out here. I decided to visit this place after reading some impressive reviews for Goodness Gracious and Zomato was absolutely correct as always.

The bagels taste very fresh and come with a lot of fillings between them with what you order. You'll have a range of coffee/juices selections out here.

This place is tiny and hence finding a spot coule be a bit of a mission during rush hours.

Staff members are super attentive towards what you need and are also very friendly.

Will I come back here? - Yes. And will highly recommend this place to my friends who love to try out bagels.

Highly recommend this place. Best place around town for breakfast/lunch. Visited for early lunch and tried the veggie bagel, and it bowled me over. My partner ordered the bagel with pork and she couldn't be happier. Very friendly staff. I was facing the kitchen and hats off to the chef - amazing operational skills. Will visit again.

Ahh the bagels here are sooo good! Unfortunately I was too hungry and demolished it before I could get a photo of how good it looked 😋 I got the bene bagel and my friend had the wilbur. It's such a hipster little spot as well. I would definitely recommend and another bonus is that it's very close to uni as well.

This little bagelry is a delight, especially in the summer months when you can sit outside on the benches - in the winter however, the space is quite tiny, with not much indoor seating and sometimes the only option is take-away.

I like that the menu has a wide selection of different types of bagels, topping combinations and beverages, so there are plenty of bagel options to try! I recommend the vege bagel with grilled haloumi, or the classic bagel with avocado, salmon and cream cheese. Obviously however.. If you aren't after a bagel, there's not much point in coming here (a couple of salad options on the menu but not much else). Prices are reasonable and dishes are filling.

Overall, a nice little spot to fulfil your bagel craving.

I try to always eat here when I am in the neighbourhood. The bagels are so good. I have tried almost everything on the menu but I keep coming back to the CAB as my favourite meal. The coffee is excellent and so is the peanut butter smoothie! My rating is not perfect because I prefer to dine in but the place is so small that there is limited seating and it can get very cramped. But don't let this put you off because this establishment has been consistently delivering their foodie goodness at a reasonable price without ever compromising on quality or service all the times I've been a customer.

They say good things come in small packages...

Greg was known as one of the best baristas in Melbourne when I was living there 10yrs ago. His coffee was a daily pleasure that I sorely missed when he moved back to NZ. It's fair to say that when I'm back in NZ it's always on my must do's.

Best bagels I've ever had! Goes without saying that the coffee is second to None. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Greg has a great team who have always provided us with great service.

Thanks guys - you absolutely nailed it!

So bloody good. Food, beers and service on point. A fine establishment to visit any day, any time. Greg the owner is a slick operator and makes you feel at home.

Best bagels so far…came here for my lunch today. I had the classic and my friend had the bene bagel with smoked salmon, soooooo amazing and delicious. The shop is quite small, but heaps of people just came and took away a bagel or a cup of coffee

NOM NOM NOM~~~
We came here on Sunday and they were so busy, but definitely worth the wait!!! Great ambience, great service, and the most importantly, great food!

We had the CAB (chicken, avocado, and bacon) and the bagel burger. The bangle itself was fresh, dense and chewy. The CAB is creamy, tasty, and with generous portion of avocado. The pattie in the bagel burger was juicy and flavourful. My husband isn't a huge bangle fan but he loved it.

We also ordered the salted caramel and peanut butter smoothie and the berries and banana smoothie. The salted caramel one was to die for! So creamy and delicious!

Will definitely come back!!!

Great bagels, great ambience and great service, what more can you ask for from a hole in the wall bagel eatery! Drove past here ages ago and was amazed to see how many amateur diners were eating outside, especially since this place is a bit out of the way. But the fact they have a great range of bagels, salads etc, and a funky uptown character means it will be perennially popular with the local hipster community. Bagel wise, the toppings are superb and very generous, with plenty of options to select from, you won't be disappointed!
Winnie Luo
AMAZING bagels! definitely the best bagels in town!

I had the chilli one. A bit on the spicy side though! My partner had the omelette which was amazing as well! The serving sizes were big!

Drinks were also yummy! Would definitely return for more bagel deliciousness!

Died and went to heaven. Had "the vege bagel" which hit the spot. Huge coffee and tea selection. Also fresh juices if you're on that health buzz. Will be back again and again. Need a bagel emoji asap ❤️

This is a compact place, hidden away from public view. The ambience is overall fair - with indoor and outdoor sitting options. Bagels are superb. Service is good. Will go again.

It is a relaxing afternoon with fine weather and I was thinkking of bagels. Found this fabulous place on Zomato. The experience was excellent, great customer service, best bagels ever and the Barista has shown his profession. Well done! Definitely a second visit. This is a place I would highly recommend to friends' catch up and light lunch.

I thought i wasn't into bagels so it took me a while before i tried this place out. When i finally did, i finally understood why so many people are always in their shop. I had the 3 small sampler bagels and they were all very good! Everything was fresh and tasty. A bit expensive for lunch for me but it was definitely worth it.

Goodness Gracious provide an amazing atmosphere and have hands down the best bagels in town. All complete with immaculate service. If you're a bagel lover, go no further than Goodness Gracious. It's always packed and vibing but it's only about a 10-minute wait for your food.

The Bagels are more of a meal than they are a "quick bite". They also provide a range of great coffees which can be done takeaway. Bagels are very affordable, ranging from $9 - $15.

Have been a few times now and will always be a regular.
A well deserved 5 star from me.

Amazing! Can't rave about this place anymore! Great service and great food and coffee. Love that gluten free food is easy for them to do and they can remove a few items off a meal due to my allergies! You can tell owner is there everyday making sure everything is top notch!

This cute little bagel place is quietly tucked in the overlooked streets in Eden Terrace. It's small and cozy on the inside, with a few outdoor seating options as well for when the sun is shining. I came here for brunch with a friend and was greeted by friendly staff and good coffee. I ordered the CAB (chicken avocado bacon, best combo ever) and was surprised at how huge it was! It came out in a 'sandwich' style, but I ended up taking it apart and eating it as two halves. There was definitely enough filling for both sides! The avo was so creamy and flavoursome, I’d definitely recommend trying this flavour if you’re an avocado fan such as myself. Probably some of top bagels you’ll find in Auckland, will be back for more soon!

GG is a go-to among a lot of my friend group. Genuine service and genuine food. My fav is probably the vege bagel, though you honestly can't go wrong with anything off the menu. It gets very busy on the weekend, but definitely worth the wait. One of the most humble places in AKL. I've never been disappointed, and always highly recommend to others.
Ariah-Bella Peters
The bagels at this place are to die for. My personal favourite is the one with haloumi, they got all the flavours right. A little expensive (for a poor student like myself) but if you want to treat yourself for lunch I would definitely recommend. Not a lot of seating so consider taking away.
Bogdan Cluj
I've discovered just few days back GG.
Best coffee close to my place and one of the best in Auckland. Don't let yourself be fooled by the look!
***update
had a breakfast last weekend... service & food was great!
gg is a great deal ;)
Sarah
What a great find this is. We went for lunch and ordered a round of hot drinks and bagels. I had the salmon, capers and creme cheese bagel. It was hands down one the best bagels I've had. My boyfriend got three mini bagels that he really enjoyed as well. This is a awesome little cafe. Only bummer was having to sit right up by the door in the way of the traffic coming into the cafe. But, the food definitely made up for this.

Just around the corner, in the most unexpected place, lies a small little cafe that makes good coffee and yummy bagels. Whenever my friends are over and if I have no other new cafes to venture in mind, this is my go to place. Be sure to get here early because it definitely gets busy!

With a few spots inside (nice and warm), there are also outdoor seating areas with heaters.

Food: Yum!! The bagels are chewy as they should be, and they are really generous with the fillings. The usual bagel that I get would contain bacon and avocado. Tried the chicken and avocado and it was good too. Just last weekend, I tried the spiced pull pork bagel for breakfast and it was delicious. I always share the bagels with my friends so that we can try more. Ask the servers to cut the bagels in half for you as it is way neater when they do it!
They also do mini trio bagels that could be a good option too :)

Coffee: Not too bad. I'm picky about my dry cappuccino and they usually do it right!
Service: Good!
Ambience: I like how it is small and feels cosy :)

This was one of the first cafes I went to when I moved to new zealand and the brekkie bagel definitely got me. The crowd outside the cafe on Saturday morning says it all. Have been a few times after. Never fails to impress my friends with their simple ingredients, healthy and delicious bagels.
Georgia Dobbs
This place is the best! Generously sized bagels with decent toppings, for a good price. Cool vibes on a weekend morning, great place for a Sunday brunch consisting of coffee and bagels. I had a BLT bagel which was super tasty and so big I couldn't finish it!
Abbey Hale
Goodness Gracious isn't talked about nearly enough as it should be. My partner and I decided to visit for a quick breakfast before work/uni, as we craved anything we didn't have to make ourselves. The food was excellent, the vibe was perfect and the drinks were on point. My partner ordered the benedict and I had the breakfast bagel with added halloumi on gluten-free, we both agreed it was the best value for money we've come across in Auckland for a while, and we're still raving on about it that evening. Well done Goodness Gracious, love your work!!
Lacey Thompson
Today I had the classic bagel and a banana berry smoothie and it was sooo good! The avocado and rocket is a nice change to your usual salmon cream cheese bagel and it all worked really well! Unfortunately I was in a bit of a rush so couldn't eat in with my fellow diners and had to eat on the run. The only slight criticism was that the smoothie could have been a bit sweeter. Also a list of the drinks is inside so take a peek before sitting outside. I wish they could have more space for seating!
Hamish Patel
Was a little disappointed that I missed the grill by 10minutes so my Choice was limited. But I had the cab and it was amazing. Can't wait to go back and tried the salted caramel and peanut butter smoothie
Scott Tibbutt
Awesome set up in a small space but creates that uptown funky kinda atmosphere, one of a number of cool shops/cafe's that have opened up over the last year or so that are creating a cool chilled 'going places' vibe for Eden Terrace. All of that is before you even get started on the bagel selection! Get here!
Laura Hunt
Goodness gracious indeed! The place is itsy bitsy so don't come with a group, but it works perfectly for a bite to eat and coffee with a friend.
I came here for the first time on the weekend and got the Proud Mary, a succulent lamb bagel, and my friend got the BLAT. I'm not hugely in to bagels but I can assure you they were both delicious, and had much more filling than I expected. We also got an iced coffee each, mine black and my friends with milk. I love places that offer actual "iced coffee" and not just milkshake-like ones.
I have every intention to return, it's such a simple concept that has been well executed! I genuinely believe there is something to suit everyone, and if bagels aren't your thing there are a couple of other options to satisfy your hunger.

Funky cool cafe. Walkable distance from city centre. Great coffee, delicious food and generous portions. Staff are on the ball. Love this place

Top Notch. I arrived at Goodness Gracious for brunch on a Tuesday morning, and found the place to be pretty busy. It didn't take long to be served and seated though. I was offered a coffee and ordered a Latte, which came out hot, strong, quickly and perfect. It was a tough deciding on food, as the whole menu looked great. I finally settled on the 'BLT' bagel and could see the staff in the kitchen's every step that they took to prepare it which I thought was pretty cool. The quality of the ingredients was fantastic, especially the bacon. Overall it was a positive experience at this Cafe, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back the next time I visit New Zealand, or recommend it to my friends.

Yesterday was my first time at Goodness Gracious and ill definitely be returning!! I want to try everything on the menu. Got a table out front which was great for people watching. Started with coffee which was great. I also had a juice, great that it was freshly squeezed but it had a really weird after taste. Had the Wilbur bagel, huge pulled pork fan - the pork ws different texture to what I was expecting but still delish with a nice chilli kick. Great crunchy coleslaw with generous dressing. Such a decent meal for so cheap! My meal could have been a bit warmer but thats my only conplaint.
Tim Burns
Never have I found such a bagel place that fills me up for such a great price, must've been here around 40 times now alternating between the cab and wilbur. Taste and staff are tops.
Mark Wilson
This is my local coffee fix. Great service fantastic coffee and some amazing bagels. Highly recommend the wilbur . Only downside is the lack of seats!
Ami
Tried this place out after hearing good things about their bagels, and was pleasantly surprised. The bagels were A+, very filling and tasty! The best bagels I have had anywhere!
Rebecca MacDonald
I have wanted to try this place out ever since it opened and today the gods were finally aligned and I went there with a work colleague for lunch. I often drive past and see people spilling out onto the pavement and today was no different, but we got a spot at one of the large tables outside.
I ordered the sampler which is three mini bagels and you can choose the fillings from five options. I had the chicken, the blat and the kransky. All were amazing, slightly messy to eat but messy in a good way because of the awesome flavoured sauces.
My colleague wasn't too hungry so had one of their freshly squeezed juices which she said was tasty. I took the vege bagel back for another colleague who couldn't stop raving about it.
I will definitely visit again to try one of their other tasty sounding bagel options.
Mele Foliaki
Popped down to Goodness Gracious after colleagues praised their bagels...can honestly say this is worthy of praise. I tried the Burger Bagel and hands down would be the best bagel I've had. So full of flavour and amazingly tasty. Staff were also friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!
Monica
h my goodness gracious, these bagels are just orgasmic. My go-to destination to fix a bagel craving, goodness gracious pays homage to this iconic NY snack. One of Auckland's best kept secrets, this small place is easy to miss unless you work near or a friend kindly let you in on the secret. The menu is surprisingly abundant for a basic cuisine and they hardly dent the pocket with most bagels $9-11. Though I've enjoyed every food item that I've consumed here (rare), my favourite picks are the kranksy and the classic. The ingredients are always simple, fresh, complementary and full of zest (mmm that speciality westmere kranksy) while overpacked to the brim ensuring you get your money's worth. The juices are delectable, however the only thing I've been disappointed with is the salted caramel and peanut butter smoothie, which I know sounds heavenly but really lacked the caramel component, leaving me feeling like I was drinking straight from a peanut butter tub. No matter, I'm in love with all other elements of this bagelry including the hip, vivacious vibe, easy service and stylish black and white colour palette interior.

Follow adl_taste_akl on Instagram for more reviews around Auckland!

Finally got round to trying Goodness Gracious, was really impressed that they offered the option of gluten free bagels (unlike best ugly). I had a chocolate milkshake which was delicious, I had to stop myself from devouring the entire thing and filling up before my bagel arrived. Luckily that didn't take long. I went for a pretty standard choice of gluten free bagel with jam and cream cheese. The bagel itself was the best gluten free one id tried, however the jam was more of a berry couli rather than a jam which was disappointing. It lacked the thickness a jam should have and I would have liked it a bit sweeter. Although that was disappointing I will definitely be back to try a different bagel in the near future!
Drea Couper
If I hadn't eaten my bagel I would have married it, this place is off the chain! First time for me; got BLAT and added an egg, needless to say my tastebuds were unprepared for the delicious taste explosion that happened.

10/10 would eat here again.. And again!

p.s good coffee too

Great hole in the wall cafe. Really nice owner who squeezed us in last minute before closing time. Had the classic bagel with salmon, the bagel was really tasty.
Shharukh Issani (Sharkx)
Started with salted caramel and peanut butter smoothie, really loved it.

Ordered bene bagel with bacon, really nice poached eggs with good spinach and crispy bacon on finely toasted bagels. Although hollandaise was lacking thickness and was a bit sour but went perfectly fine for me.

Service was great, did not have to wait too long. Really like how staff interacts with each other during service.

After being to Goodness Gracious multiple times, I feel like it's time for a review! I met up with a friend here last Sunday for a catch up over bagels and coffee.

I feel like timing is crucial here, sometimes you can get a seat straight away, sometimes waiting is necessary. We waited for about 10 minutes as it was so busy, but staff were helpful and remained friendly.

I ordered the vege bagel, which consisted of haloumi, roast veges and pesto. It was delicious and very satisfying. I also ordered the red juice, consisting of beetroot and other fruits.

Sitting next to a large family, I got food envy as I saw someone had ordered the plate of mini bagels - will definitely be ordering that next time!

Goodness Gracious is a super place to visit for very affordable food and brilliant coffee. Probably best to visit really early in the morning! :)

What can I say
Bagels & Coffee
I go here all the time as it is tucked away in a little corner up the road from my house.
The guy who runs it seriously reaks of passion. You can tell he puts everything into this being the best it can be and it truly shows as he is always there working hard
I almost always get the 'Breakie Bagel' as it hits all the hangover style notes for me
Heaps of egg, heaps of tomato relish, heaps of rocket, heaps of mayo all smushed up between crispy god donuts. I also really rate the chilli con carne one - it is packed with flavour. Once I went for the porridge and even that didn't disappoint!

On a side note - (I'm so awkward) but the bathroom is really nice.
Anyway if the bathroom even has his full attention, clearly the food sings songs.

My only suggestion would be some kind of closed area for outside as the wind picks up and it can be pretty cold sometimes. But once you have these bagels and coffee not much else matters to be honest

Goodness Gracious is a tucked away store/cafe in Eden Terrace. Unless you work around there or someone told you about it, you would hardly notice it. Goodness Gracious offers a menu of NY Bagels, which the store follows a similar concept at Best Ugly Bagels.

To be honest, I was initially hesitant to try Goodness Gracious. I have had Ugly Bagels a couple of times and there was a lot to live up to. Their menu was quite standard with your classic sandwich fillings in a bagel but executed well. I do like the option to choose the type of bagel you want. I'm a sucker for salmon, so I chose the Classic bagel. It was a nice change since the salmon was cooked rather than raw. My dining partner chose the Wilbur bagel which was an unusual bagel filling with a spiced pulled pork. Again like Burger Burger, this was a very messy bagel to eat although tasty. We also had to try the Peanut butter and salted caramel smoothie. For $7 this was quite reasonable with the unique flavours and great flavour.

Seating was very limited so we had to takeaway. This is where we realised some of the bagels you may need a fork and knife to eat it.

Good place to try. Everything was tasty and quick, just not quite as good as Best Ugly Bagels.

Rating
Food: 6.5/10
Service: 8/10
Value for Money: Good

2A New North Road, Eden Terrace
Opening Hours:
Mon-Fri 730am-4pm
Sat 8am-4pm
Sun 8am-3pm

I have only been here twice. It is a cool little spot with friendly service. The first time I got a coffee which was top quality. The second time I had a salmon bagel which was surprisingly perfect for breakfast. I would have that over my usual cafe choice of eggs bene any day. At around $10 is is much more affordable that forking out $17 odd for breckie at my other locals in this area. The coffee was top quality the second visit, and my partner got a chicken bagel that was excellent too. Will be back!
Catalina Espinoza
Great service, fantastic bagels and amazing smoothies. The smoothies are dairy free - I tried the salted caramel and would definitely recommend it. Have had the veggie bagel on a number of occasions and love it. Will continue to come back for more!
Shelley
Delicious bagels. Will definitely be repeat offenders :).

BUT... Three of us visited today for a BLAT which was $9... however, don't ask for cheese to be added to your BLAT as it's $4 extra per bagel! We think that's kind of steep for a small slice of cheese.
Peter Walton
Had breakfast today. Really good and the bagel was to die for. Plenty of filling at a v reasonable price.
I'm told they are New York Bagels, so delish. A great combination well done and great staff as well.
I will be a regular, it's already very busy
Ms.Hall
Fantastic!
I've been watching the place getting ready to open with great anticipation and it didn't disappoint: just had a brekkie bagel there. To die for!
Great food and value for money and very attentive staff (kinda rare in NZ and Auckland specifically)
Dondon3000
Really had a good there, great coffee and awesome food. The stand out was the Wilbur for me. Must try this place

Cute little cafe with huge surprises! We ordered the BLAT bagel and the smoke salmon one. Bacon was crispy and lots of avocado, delicious dressing! Loved the chunky salmon, very satisfying. Great strong coffee too!

Wow! Definitely really impressed by this little place in eden terrace. Though the place is tiny, we managed to get seats straight away, sharing a table with others, which is cool. If ur a huge bagel fan, you definitely need to try this place. Prices are very affordable . You can get a decent meal with drinks for under $20. We tried this bon Bon coffee shot, that consists of three layers: condensed milk, coffee, and foam. A little bit sweet but the best coffee shot / only type of coffee shot I would do. Staff are also super friendly, and the toilet is also super adorable with individual hand towels. Haha
Nom Nom Panda
If you love bagels, you will love this little cafe. They don't make their own bagels - they are ordered in daily - but they sure know how to turn out delicious and filling meals with them.

These are not the thin Montreal-style bagels with a schmear of something on top, but chunky New York-style ones, with freshly cooked, hot fillings/toppings. Definitely more of a sit-down-and-eat place than an eat-on-the-run place (though they do do takeout orders).

We have tried the burger bagel, the pulled pork bagel, the vege benedict bagel, as well as a plain bagel with cream cheese. All were satisfying and delicious, and a staff member even brought over hot sauce for the burger.

They also have a good range of drinks, from tea and coffee, to juices and smoothies, to coconut water, to beer and wine.

It can be a bit of a tight squeeze though, as this cafe is tiny, and you may have trouble finding a seat at peak times.
Genie @ BunnyEatsDesign
We just enjoyed a quick Friday lunch at Goodness Gracious. We arrived around noon and there were a two tables free. This cafe is tiny. Really tiny. You might not get a seat, or you might be even grateful to be seated with strangers. Sitting by the juice station with a clear view of the kitchen, it's entertaining to watch the hustle and bustle. As we waited for our food, the line in front of the counter soon extended out of the shop.

We shared a pulled pork bagel and a burger bagel. The burger bagel was amazing. The beef patty was chunky, loosely formed and perfectly seasoned. The pulled pork bagel with apple chutney was tasty but too spicy for our tastebuds.

The black and white decor is simple and very New York, just how I want my own kitchen to look like (one day). White subway tiles, wooden crates, black metal finishings. Going by what was flying out the kitchen, their specialities are bagels and juice. The bagels are served in enamel bowls and Victorian cutlery is provided. The fancy cutlery seem a little extravagance compared to the understated design of the cafe but a little fancy is nice.

Goodness Gracious do not have a liquor license yet and the booze in the glass front fridge across from us only taunted me. Looking forward to a beer with my next bagel burger. I also hope that one day they extend the menu to something that resembles fries. Bagel burger with some curly fries would be great!
