Review Marua Road Cafe - Auckland Central

Brent Mattock
We ordered the big breakfast and Spanish omelette. The eggs were cooked and seasoned nicely, and the omelette was nice. The sausage was very meaty and cheesy, I liked it, and rosti was very crispy and seasoned perfectly. I would work on the mushrooms, maybe halves instead of slices, and bread, more butter conditioned so it can easily spread. Very reasonably priced. A near perfect brunch thank you

While I was staying at an Airbnb nearby I had the opportunity to visit this cafe for a few days in a row. I became a "regular" there during my visit. I really enjoyed the food, the latte and the latte art too (thank you, V!!) I also got to chat with Clarissa, who's the owner, who is a warm and welcoming person. This cafe has rare qualities -- good food, good people and a cozy atmosphere. I rarely come across cafes during my travels that make me wish I was a local and Marua Road Cafe is definitely one of them. If you are visiting or in the area, I highly recommend going here. They have pastries made in-house too, by Clarissa herself!

great cafe! amazing service and the food was so yummy ☺️ we got the breakfast salad and carrot hotcakes, delicious ! staff were so friendly and welcoming too:) would definitely go back again

This place is clearly a labor of love. The staff are lovely and welcoming. I would come back to the staff alone. The food was good but not the best I've ever had either. Just ok; it felt a like it was trying to be fancier than it needed to be. Still good! Just wish it was more "straight forward" (An egg with avocado and tomato instead of avocado with peas mixed in and tomatoes on the side if that makes sense?)

Love this spot! The place is always buzzing but never overcrowded, and the coffee is very hard to beat. A big thanks to Clarissa and the team who run a very tight ship! Hamish Dorrington Kakapo Business Sales

We arrived at midday and the tables were bathed in sunshine. Comfortable seating which is often lacking in cafes. A good selection of cabinet food. Bacon and eggs nicely cooked. The experienced owner is very welcoming and it's excellent that she takes time to reply to reviews.

Amazing coffee, delicious and hot 🔥 Staff were kind and prompt, and the food was fresh and tasty. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, parking right outside the door. Well worth a stop!

Popped by for a biscuit and it was tasty. Lovely friendly service and super comfortable looking tables and seats. The only thing making me hesitate in returning for a sitdown meal was the fact that the entire cafe was full of the cooking fumes from the open kitchen, so it was difficult to breathe even during the short time I was there. But the service and ambience was so lovely, I may give it a go later, as maybe the kitchen fan wasn't working when I went there.

Food and coffee were presented really nicely. The service was excellent and very very attentive to us and all the tables. Had the smoked salmon rosti stack and my partner had the fried chicken Beni both were very good.
Sabrina Savage
Such a nice place to have breakfast, everything was so delicious and coffee was 10/10. Will be back.

Great friendly team here! Don't miss the award winning carrot cake pancakes. Grab a seat and someone will pop over with a menu, some choice options in the cabinet too if you want something smaller. Great coffee too!

This place is great! There are plenty of good food options in Auckland, but what sets the bar for this Cafe is the service. We were greeted by the owner (I think) who gave us a table where a box of toys were to occupy our toddler while we enjoyed lunch together. All staff were friendly and we felt very welcome. Well priced also. Will be back. Best spot in Mt Wellington.

Been wanting to try this since I moved to AKL in Nov2020. It's a nice, somewhat busy cafe for a Saturday late lunch. Latte was excellent, and the coffee art, surreal! Chicken n Waffles, was just OK. I feel the waffle is store bought, and not freshly made. Tastes similar to the waffle I buy at Countdown. Don't get me wrong, it still tastes good. But just have this feeling, by experience, it isn't fresh off a waffle maker. I could be wrong. The chicken had a bit of cumin taste to it, not such a fan. Perhaps since most of the staff seemed to be of Indian origin, they really add this, dunno? Friendly staff. Overall, still good for me!

I had lunch here with my family since we live nearby. My dad got the chef’s special ribs for $21, my mum and brother both got the lamb curry and I got the eggs your way (scrambled) on sourdough with smoked salmon on the side.

Overall, the food was affordable and the portion sizes were pretty big, especially the salmon. The eggs were cooked beautifully, you could taste the creaminess of the eggs from the milk. The tomato kasundi went really well with the sourdough as well, I used that as opposed to the butter. The salmon was the best, it was smoked perfectly, juicy on the inside and extremely smokey tasting on the outside, a bit sweet and spicy.

The service was really average though, the staff seemed a bit tired (no one was smiling or looked happy) except for the owner/manager.

Unexpected jewel that my wife and I have found!
Amazing coffee and food!
Already been there twice in a month.
Love the cleanness of the cafe and friendliness of the staff.

Turned up at 8:30 Sunday morning to avoid potential weekend busy crowds,
and was pleased I came in before busy time which is 10am+

Asked for a table for 1 and promptly seated where I wanted to be.

Food:
Ordered a flat white, which turned up quickly.
It was a little mild for my taste buds but well made.

Ordered eggs (poached) benedict with chorizo on sourdough and hollandaise.
Turned up pretty quickly as well.

This was a solid dish.
Would have preferred the chorizo to be fried a bit more, to be a little crispier.

Service:
The server needed to be more assertive/confident.
When I walked in he was friendly in a timid way and I like it when I'm just quickly welcomed and asked how I can be helped. 101 hospo things could be improved here.

Same when ordering the coffee - large vs small - want to be told small = 1 shot, large = 2 shot, without having to extract that. There is no consistency in cafes serving sizes or shots so don't presume I know what yours is.

About 10 mins into eating was asked if everything was ok and then left alone.

On leaving the same lack of assertiveness as I approached the counter to pay also left me unsure where to go as a staff member was sorting coffee cards at the counter.

I'm nitpicking, but that's what reviews are for.

Solid food and service.
Other reviews will have comments if different experience when it's busy.

Bit feeling under the weather today and wanting some comfort food after grabbing a plant from Mitre 10. Marua Road Cafe was the closest to grab a coffee and a plate. Staff were so friendly and looked after the customers really well. I was just by myself but two staff were attending to me, giving me a cup and a bottle of water while the other one was asking me if I wanted a cup coffee while I'm browsing the menu, awesome! The food came out really quick but yummy. I ordered Creamy Mushroom and it was a delight and so delish, a must try. The coffee design was so cute which really painted a smile on my face and made me feel so much better after the great cafe experience. Highly recommended and will come back anytime soon with family and friends.

The food here is very tasty and the customer service is truly great. What really sets this place aside from others is the barista and the cute and quirky pictures he creates on the top of the coffee. Highly recommend

Best service by the guys here, and the food was super tasty. Creamy mushrooms were best i have ever had . The big breakfast was also very good and eggs cooked to perfection.
Met a friend here for lunch. It was fairly packed but we had a table outside. When they came to check on us they gave us the option of getting the umbrella out for some shade.

When ordering they were able to change the chorizo in the mushrooms to bacon. I had the portabello rosti stack which was nice. It had two pesto sauces which were both flavourful. I did find the red one (think it was sundried tomato) a bit salty. The creamy mushrooms looked quite creamy and tasty with kumara strings over the top.

The iced chocolate was almost milo like. The hot chocolate was also quite nice and chocolatey. They also have cabinet food as well.

They are located in a hub with shared parking spaces so I'm unsure if you are able to park in the other spaces after hours. There were also a few places on the road side.

As you may already know if you have read some of my other reviews, I am making my way through Urban List’s 56 best Auckland cafes for brekkie. They are not ranked in any way. However they are clustered into locations. Marua Road Cafe fell under East Auckland and lands itself as number 42 out of 56 cafes.

I would say, in terms of food, it was very average compared to other cafes I have dined in. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves, is ordering poached eggs & the eggs are not poached. Unfortunately, that was the case here with my Portobello Rosti Stack. My egg was more soft-boiled. However, someone who dined on the table next to us ordered the same dish as mine and I saw his poached egg was even worse. It was pretty much hard-boiled. So that was disappointing. The mushrooms were good though & the sundried tomato was average and grainy.

My partner ordered the corn fritters. They were a bit dry and the presentation of the food could have done with a bit more work. The dollop of sour cream looked as though it was a poached egg. Maybe it could be served in a little dish to add a bit more finesse to the dish? Also, maybe even a bit of sweet chilli sauce could have added a bit more depth and flavour to the dish - considering it was a bit dry.

The coffee was good though. They use Jack’s Coffee beans. I hadn’t had that before, but it was still yum! I liked the coffee art of the bear as well.

Other than that, we weren’t waiting too long for our food to be served. Service was friendly. Coffee was good. Food was very average.

Nice place on Marua to get a well made coffee. Staff are always friendly and service is always fast. Plenty of foods to choose from ready made or off the menu.
Most items are reasonably priced for serving sizes, $21 for breakfast tho is a lil steep for what you get but tastes good.
Plenty of seats to sit and enjoy coffee and foods.
Nice little cafe. went for lunch. Got the Southern Fried chicken Eggs Benedict. Fries with their Homemade Aioli. And my little brother got their Kids fish and chips, and a caramel slice.

All the food was really nice, it was a good experience trying fried chicken eggs benny, but you cant beat the classics.

Mocha for myself which was AMAZING and a hot chocolate for my brother.

Great friendly service. Will definitely be back.
Linda
A cosy cafe in a relatively quieter area (not many other shops around) - but consistently makes good coffee and their creamy mushrooms are top notch. Staff are always friendly :)

We stumbled across this cafe and pulled in. The menu was diverse, good potion sizes, food and coffee excellent, and the staff really friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

If your after the most incredible food and service that beats no other this is the place for you. The staff, (especially the owner) always great you with the biggest smile and no request is too large. Asking for a wheelchair friendly table the team within minutes had a new table all set up and ready to go in the sun (just as we’d hoped for). The food here is always incredible, I’ve never once left disappointed and would recommend it to anyone and everyone! 11/10 for service and food. Thank you Maria road cafe for never letting us down!

Friendly for dairy/gluten free folks. It was no problem to tailor the smashed avo to be dairy free and they even added a potato rosti to make up for the subtracted feta and jalapeño bites. They have smoothies on the menu that are dairy free without needing alterations. Food came out quickly and service was friendly. My partner had the eggs Benedict with fried chicken - which got a big thumbs up but a little more hollandaise would have been appreciated.

Coming to live on" this side" of The Bridge, I was introduced to The Marua Cafe by a long time friend. This Cafe has to be one of the greatest Cafes in the area. It's so good, I am taking 5 residents from Logan Campbell Village to have lunch there next week. The variety of food is fantastic, well cooked and beautifully presented, and the costs are well within our budgets.
Kelvin
The place is quiet busy but its a great atmosphere to be in, i had the fried chicken bene which was very different to your standard eggs bene and i love fried chicken so it was a great!
It tastes very good expectes nothing less.
Would definitely come back for it again!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The service, food and atmosphere were all outstanding. You’re greeted with big smiles and you instantly feel welcome. The owner was going around to all the tables chatting and asking how everyone’s meals were. The coffee is wonderful, made to perfection, and my lunch, the carrot cake pancakes - absolutely incredible. They were beautifully presented, light and fluffy and so flavoursome!

I loved this place a year ago, since the original owners have left I feel that the happy community vibe has left. Clearly unhappy staff and undercooked food. Such a shame, it was my go to for brunch!
DC
One of the few places within a few streets where you can get a brunch, not a lot of other cafes to this standard around unless you head into Ellerslie main highway shops and cafes. Been here a couple of times and seems pretty average, reasonable coffee, lots to choose from but not a lot of healthy options.
Truth Hurts
Service is friendly and the menu looked promising with good vegetarian options. The food and drinks arrived quickly but the food wasn't that great. I ordered the Portobello and Rosti stack and when it arrived it looked great. But the rosti was a bit cold and the mushroom was just grilled and placed on the side with nothing else. I guess it's a literal interpretation of the menu but for $19 I expected more. I won't be going again.
Auckland Foodie
The coffee was super delicious and came with nice coffee art. I can really recommend their portobello Rosti stack with pesto, it was delicious. The eggs Benedict with salmon were nice but not amazing. A nice and busy cafe though with friendly staff.

Fast service and friendly. Menu options are small but food is great and tasty. Glad to try carrot pancakes. Really enjoyed it.
Mushrooms is a very tasty dish and great quality ingredients was used
I booked a table for 2 to celebrate my good friends' birthday. The staff were very accommodating and very lovely. Our food arrived in a timely manner. We ordered:
Stacked wedges
The Benedicts Portobello mushroom
Moroccan lamb salad
Food were portioned decently. Very tasteful and full of flavors. I appreciate fact the staff came thru with my request which made my friends day even more special.
No doubt Ill be back in the future.

Haven't been to Marua Road Cafe before, but ordered Uber Eats yesterday for brunch. The food was delicious, we ordered Eggs Benedict (one with salmon and one chorizo). The portion size was great, and everything cooked perfectly. They also took into consideration all of our special requests. Would definitely be keen to try other dishes on the menu!

This place is excellent. Very good friendly service and great brunch fare. I recommend egg dishes and salads, great coffee too. Nice to have consistent attentive and friendly service to match the food.

Friendly staff and good food. At first I wasn’t too sure if I need to order my food by the counter or wait for staff to be seated. After a minute a staff came to the rescue and gave me the menu. I had the Eggs Benedict with Spanish Chorizo on potato rosti and iced coffee. The food was cooked perfectly while the iced coffee was just ok.

Latte art was amazing:) but if u oder in take away cup, u cant get the letter art. Mushroom dish was delicious :) u might wait for 10 or 20mins to get a table.
Maisie Ramsay
Greeted with smiles on arrival and water straight away and asked if we wanted any coffee! Long black was delicious and super quick. Really nice vibe in there and loved the decor.

Excruciatingly mediocre and average. The Steak Sandwich was very poorly put together, with an under-toasted Turkish Pide, supermarket brought mesclun lettuce, and two slices of tomato alongside the steak. The saving grace of the meal was the steak, cooked perfectly to medium rare, and the accompany caramelised onion with mustard and pesto. The chips were unsalted and tasteless. Coffee was, again, average in taste and sub-par in presentation.

With the exception of the poor choice of bread for the sandwich and the salad choice, nothing glaringly negative about Marua Road Cafe, but nothing memorable or great about the place either.

This place is a great little cafe with a nice ambience and good food. I've enjoyed all of my meals here and the service is always friendly. On a sunny day, it can get a bit too warm and on one visit, there were a quite a few flies around for some reason, but overall, this is a cafe I enjoy coming to. Reliable food and the staff are always lovely.
Incredible service, incredible food and incredible coffee. Such a creative menu and the coffee art is so awesome! Everything here is so good!

Visited this cafe for the first time with the family! Options very average and coffee 6.5/10. Wouldn't return in a hurry! Very busy on Saturdays!

Cafe is very welcoming and it is usually full when we go. I had the egg bene which is always good 😊. Hats off the the chefs. There is an easy atmosphere with families with kids to office staff on their lunch breaks. Would recommend.
Been back again. Staff is very friendly. Enjoyed the mushrooms without the cream, still delicious. Dog friendly too with a nice outdoor area.

Our visit was ok but didn't blow us away. We waited quite a bit for the coffees which then were nice amd pretty.
The food was alright, however I think I wouldn't order the combination of fried chicken and eggs benny again.
It's a nice cafe and was quite busy.

This place is definitely worth a visit..
I had the bagel filled with haloumi, tomato and basil pesto.. it was delicious.
My sister had the eggs benedict with southern fried chicken which she said was amazing.
The coffee was great.. and very cute with the drawing in the milk froth :-)
Ms. Piggy Loves Food
The coffee was good..and the egg bene on rosti was amazing..i was there on a sunday..it was really busy but the staff still had a smile in their face

I wish I liked this place more than I do - a lot of people clearly love it as it's always hard to find a table. But I find the food frustratingly inconsistent. The lamb salad and corn fritters were excellent, the steak sandwich was just average, and the Hawaiian burgers were very dull. The coffee is great and the service ranges from super-friendly to lackadaisical. I don't find it a particularly comfortable environment - it's a nice fresh fitout, but on a sunny day the tables by the windows are uncomfortably hot to sit at.
Sean Shu
The ambiance is comfortable and nice, but the pork belly was not as good as it, it was a little tasteless, and the skin was not crispy enough😏
Fiona Ealson
basic breakfast and it wasn't great . Poached eggs under done and a pool of poaching liquid in the plate making the toast soggy . Butter cut up and placed in cabinet well before service made it rancid and not good on our toast .Coffee good but second cup not hot. Excellent friendly attentive service ... pity about the food and the view to the over filled rubbish bins out our window .
Susie Bratanova
Great service, delicious menu- mushroom on toast did not disappoint. Coffee had a bear shape which was cute. Would definitely go back. Comfy and warm
Christina
Creamy Mushroom. So yummy. A must-eat dish for mushroom lovers like me. $15 is also a good price compared to the same dish in other restaurants.

Came here today, having bookmarked it for some time. I was really excited to try their food after reading the comments.

First up, service was great. We were promptly greeted upon arrival and served with water. Coffee was also great and came with cute coffee art. However, food was average at best. I had the eggs benedict with potato rosti and southern fried chicken while my bf had the Hawaiian chicken burger. The chicken wasn't crispy but was rather thick and bland. Unfortunately the much wowed potato rosti failed to make an impression too. Although we sat indoors, that didn't stop the houseflies from buzzing around and we couldn't enjoy our meal without having to shoo them away every so often.

Will I be back again? I probably wouldn't specially drive down to marua rd when there are loads of other cafes around.

Great little cafe - extremely busy being tucked away with the 'work' places. Staff were friendly and helpful..we had to wait for a table but definitely worth it! We ordered Eggs Benedict and chicken/avo bagel. Both plates were quick, delicious and something I would eat again and again! I will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Awesome coffee, great Barista, efficient and super friendly service. Yummy food, nice design atmosphere. Hard to stay away! Free wifi, doggy friendly outside with outdoor seats.

So good for Ellerslie! The service is always efficient and friendly. All the normal breakfast offerings on the menu and a decent display of cabinet food. Kid friendly too.

A much needed addition to the area! After visiting in the weekend we learned it’s already a hit with locals as most tables were filled. The café décor is modern and spacious with plenty of natural light. Loved the customized ceramic utensil holders and illustrations on the chalk board wall. Walking in we were greeted and seated promptly. The cabinet food looked appealing but not substantial enough for lunch so we opted for something off the menu - plenty of choices for both breakfast and lunch. Our picks were the breakfast salad and the big breakfast (swapping the meat for halloumi and avo) and a large flat white.

The flat white arrived but unfortunately was a small, not a large as ordered. My partner was a bit disappointed as he was craving his caffeine fix. Pointing it out to our waitress she was happy to replace it for a large as ordered. He decided to stick with the small and told her not to worry…which he then regretted after his first sip. The coffee was superb and exactly how he likes it - I could tell he was tempted to order another. The food arrived not long after and both were very decent portions and well presented. My partner cut into his poached eggs to find both the yolks were firm…’it’s just not your day is it babe?’ Then I cut into mine and the egg was also firm. A waiter soon appeared to check that everything was ok. It was good timing and we pointed out the eggs. He was very apologetic and asked the chef to get some more out asap. The new eggs arrived and were perfect but we were well into out meals by then. I enjoyed the salad and it was a great healthier / carb-less option. All the elements married together nicely. Although it was present, the salad could have done with a bit more quinoa. The big breakfast had a lot of good components and lived up to its name. They did a nice job switching the dish to a vegetarian option.

The service was friendly and despite the hiccups we encountered, it was still really good. The manager was even kind enough to not charge us for the coffee. Would love to try some more dishes here in order to up their rating. If we're in the area we'll definitely pop in for coffee.

A great addition to Marua Road. This cafe may be new but it's already busy. The breakfast dishes are hearty and the coffee is on point.

I had the creamy mushrooms with chorizo. The mushrooms were juicy and the dish had great texture with the crispy shredded kumara and toasted ciabatta. However, eating the whole thing got a bit too much as the richness from the creamy sauce and the chorizo was quite filling. It needed something else to cut through the richness.

I also tried a bit of the big breakfast which had quite a few similar elements. This was also well done.

The eggs benedict with southern fried chicken was delicious and inspired. A pity that the chicken was smothered by the hollandaise sauce instead of sitting up top to keep the crispy texture.

The portions were generous. Service was a bit hit and miss, it was a bit hard getting the waitress' attention when required - probably just due to the recent opening and a big crowd. A good local cafe if you're in the area.

My friend and I went there for lunch. Had French toast and Frittata, love the Frittata! French toast was also nice, like the presentation and the crockery. Staff was nice and service was great. Love the decor, especially the plants and flowers. Cozy place, really like it. Thanks guys. Wish you all a Merry Christmas and a bright new year!

Stopped in for a quick coffee with my wife. Meh, it's just another cafe. The other cafe Open Table around the corner has more character so likely won't come back.
Brett
Went here for breakfast and it was amazing . Never seen fried chicken eggs Benedict anywhere so had to give it a try! Was amazing! Good food and service would defiantly go again

Checked out this new busy spot, the Marua Road Cafe, in Mt Wellington. It has all the classic cafe fare, but presented with a completely modern approach.

Great coffee. Even better food. Staff were very accomodating for our last minute booking of 10 people at very short notice.

Stephy_NakiGirl
Great to finally try this relatively new spot - a good addition to the local cafe scene.
Seating is available inside & out & you generally don't have to wait too long.
Although service was really good overall, they do need to work on one part. If you're new to the cafe it's hard to know whether you order at the counter or if it's table service. There was a sign which I eventually saw, but unfortunately the word 'table' was obscured...it was a guessing game. Eventually I flagged someone down who cleared a table & got a menu and water. She gave great service, so yes a bit more clarity or just welcoming anyone walking in & getting them seated would be awesome.
Couldn't see any papers which is a shame but there was a selection of magazines
Onto the food & coffee. Coffee was great - nice & strong but not bitter. Food - eggs bene with chicken was one of the best I've tried. Not greasy or heavy & all well balanced. Other meals were also tasty & well presented.
Overall a great experience - will be back.

Went back assuming they had time to sort out the problems below. Assured by the wait staff that the more oval lamb was safe. The lamb was great tasting though a little over cooked. The salad was blah! Not enough dressing that make up for bag salad and half a tomato. Salads around Auckland are real disappointing compared to other city’s in new zealand

This is a review on appearances only. We went in needing something gluten free but nothing. The staff were friendly and helpful but I'm at a conundrum about why? Firstly this day and age you should have some options and secondly the likes of the Moroccan lamb salad having gluten in it? Why? Looks like they have mrs Rodgers salt so do you use mrs rodgers Moroccan seasoning spices? I do it's gluten free? Do you make it your self? I do, there's no need to add flour (containing gluten) so many ways to make food gluten free, it even looks like gluten containing products have been added needlessly.

Really disappointed we didn't get a chance to try anything out :-(

Decor is great and the cafe has a good vibe about it, but the service is appalling. I have visited here three times and it gets no better, each time you are eagerly shown to a table and then you wait and wait until eventually you have to go up to the counter and ask for the menu even though it is suppose to be table service. I ordered a cheese scone and asked for it to be toasted under the grill the waitress looked at me blankly and said they only heat up in the microwave! I told her I wanted it toasted under grill again as most cafes do this now and to her merit she did get it toasted but it came back to me with rock hard butter that was impossible to spread! The coffee is average but I will give it full marks for the cheese scones they are pretty tasty. This cafe certainly needs to lift its gain in service if it wants to do well.
Sinfully Delicious
Tried my new local a couple of times now and so far so good. Love the decor which reflects the industrial area that surrounds them. New staff are still trying to find their feet but they are friendly enough. Coffee is very smooth and easy to drink (tad on the weak side). They have an interesting dilmah tea collection that im keen to try next time. Food is pretty food. I've tried acai bowl which is super delicious and super goodness in a bowl, refreshing and healthy and not too heavy. The shashuka eggs was delicious with a bit of heat from the chorizo but found it abit heavy for breakfast but perhaps more suited for lunch. Its great to have this place so close to home.
Brittany Nealie
Was great service and cute wait staff. Food was brought out promptly and we were offered more coffee after the meal! Will be back. Nice lot of cakes in the cabinet too

New cafe in the suburb and well needed. Bright atmosphere and simple industrial decor. However, be ready for some noise because of the concrete walls, sound seemed to echo louder than usual.

My cappuccino was done well, even though the coffee may have been sitting on the bench for a little bit before being served. Food wise, I had the eggs bene with southern fried chicken (something different). It was delicious! I chose it on a potato Rosti as recommended and was a good choice! Wish the fried chicken was on top of the hollandaise sauce though because it was all soggy right from the start. What I did love was the bits of Parmesan on the potato which gave it an extra boost of flavour.

Others ordered the creamy mushroom which was delicious with big fat shrooms and well balanced with yummy chorizo. Very rich indeed. The big breakfast looked hearty and worth it.

This place was real busy for a newly opened cafe. Well done! Elena Ching

Came here not so long ago, on one of there very busy days (not surprising considering they just opened, and how amazing everything is) The group I was with ordered the corn fritters which are out of this world, salmon and steak sandwich both were incredible. Services was outstanding given the circumstances of having just opened and being a busy morning. Coffee was great along with the juices and house made sodas that we ordered. Will be coming back again in no time!

Marua Road Cafe is the newest addition to the Mt Wellington suburbs and it was clear by the never ending influx of eager diners that it was doing something right. It matches perfectly with the industrial surroundings, there is on site parking and it is in a prime location of being a short drive from Sylvia Park, what more can you ask for?

Chris was awesome, the omelet was amazing... Fantastic service and decent coffee... Definately the best in the area and one I will visit again!

Heard about this cafe on social media and I live close by. My bf and I came on a busy saturday and the cafe was very packed. He ordered the open steak sandwich and I got the egg bennie. Initially I was set on the shakshuka but they ran out, and then I decided on the morrocan lamb meatball, but they also ran outta that. I guess i just have to come back next time for it. The food was very yummy. My bf enjoyed his steak sandwich very much and the egg bennie was perfect.

Drove past this new cafe in the weekend and it was full and buzzy. Decided to come by on Monday morning and again it was just about full. Luckily it was a sunny warm spring day as the only table left was outside. There was a good vibe with a variety of customers - mums with kids and people on a working coffee meeting. Decent parking in the lot next to it as other shop space hasn't been filled yet.
We ordered two egg benedicts - my friend's with salmon and mine with southern fried chicken. I also got a regular flat white ($4).
Soon after our order was taken by the waitress, another waiter came by twice, first to check if our orders have been taken, and then couple of minutes later to double check if they got what we ordered correctly. Hmm... and then when my coffee arrived, they checked again if my friend had ordered a long black and no she didn't. So we sat around waiting for about 20 min and slightly concerning if our food will come. We flagged down the waiter to check, a few minutes later he brought out our food (yay).
Now first the coffee - while it was tasty, it didn't feel like a flat white but just a coffee with milk. The egg benedict was faultless with runny yolk however it didn't quite taste like what was described on the menu with citrus hollandaise, and wilted baby spinach. My chicken was decent, maybe not as crispy/crunchy as I would have liked but it was a good portion and decent moisture.
Overall it was a decent cafe that looks good and enjoining a fair buzz at the moment. Wait staff need more training possibly but maybe this will get better as the cafe matures.

Great location based on Marua Rd & easy to find, perfect for stopping in on my way to work.

The coffee was great with fresh beans and at a decent price. I Ordered the Marua Big Breakfast and I must say it was perfect. Requested my eggs poached which were delicious. The Chorizo was amazing with a nice zing to it and who doesn't like bacon? The Potato Rosti was a nice touch, a twist on the traditional boring hash brown. Also included were Portobello Mushroom, Roasted Tomato & toasted sourdough. Left satisfied with my stomach full and in a great mood! The Staff were also very friendly and have bright personalities. Will definitely become a regular!

We were driving by and noticed this new cafe popped up so thought we'd try for a late-ish lunch round 2pm. (Luckily got in just in time before kitchen finishing up!)

Loved the atmosphere bright, vibrant and spacious with modern decor. Had to ask for salt, pepper, tomato sauce. Friendly and appeared to be good number of staff.

Ordered the creamy mushrooms that was really delicious. Meaty mushrooms combined with melted parmesan on a toasted ciabatta went so well together. Thin crunchy kumara chips needed some salt but were yum.

My husband ordered the open steak sandwich asked for as rare. This turned out superb and was tender enough to cut without a steak knife. Excellent seasoning and teamed well with the toasted bread and the right amount of fries.

Overall very impressed and happy to have this new place in the neighbourhood.

Much needed cafe on Marua road for local business. Good setup. Very modern and contemporary. Polite staff. Very busy for what's only a 3 days old business. Even the staff are surprised with the rush. Aaahh the power of social media. Now the food and coffee. Let's start with the coffee. Nice coffee. Fresh beans. Well done. Hope it stays like that. The food. A lot of buzz around their Southern style chicken egg benedict right now. So we came to try that. Couple of us ordered that and I got me a Salmon beny on English muffin. First impression was...oh that's a tiny portion hope it fills me up. I stand corrected. It's the right portion size. Not too much like most places. Just right. The salmon was nice but could be smoked a little more cause the smokey flavour was lost on me. The English muffin a good idea. Eggs done right. Hollandaise was beautiful. Not very salty. In fact slightly low on salt which works for me cause I can adjust the salt if I want to my liking myself. Overall a good dish. Now the southern style chicken. Mixed reviews. One found chicken overcooked and dry. Other was perfect. So yeah lacked consistency. But that's fine for a 3 day old place. The potatoe rostie went down really well. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Eggs were done well too. Overall a good addition to that area. Room for improvement and a massive challenge for them to maintain good food and coffee standards. Oh and wonderful staff. Will go back this weekend to try some more food. 👍🏾
