Review Kiss Kiss - Auckland Central

A group of friends catching up. This place came recommend by other friends and did not disappoint. Ample parking (both free and paying). Great location and easy to find as it stands on its own. Nice size as not too crowded. Love the esthetics - almost a retro vibe with Asian food. Food was well done, great value and reasonable portions. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful - great customer service. Can recommend for all ages..

Really good Thai food restaurant. Friendly staff, restaurant clean and tidy. Food is really good and tasty. Love that pork ribs, pad Thai, larb meal and many more. Good vibe to bring family and friend. I give 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Thank you for the lovely afternoon meal. Good for local and tourist.
Jay “Jackels” Pat
Food was really good totally reccommend, service was average and not very attentive. The tables are very close together and make it slightly uncomfortable for bigger parties when split between two tables.

Amazing place to visit with friends, Atmosphere was amazing, staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is outstanding! Highly recommend checking this place out. Lots of parking across the road at secure park
Filly Misiloony
Man, talk about a step back in time. Love tge retro look, the staff were amazing, this includes food and drinks. Reasonably priced also. We paid parked across the road. All worth it. Great times.

Amongst the whispers of culinary taste lies Kiss Kiss Eatery, a haven on Dominican Road where flavors pirouette on taste buds. A symphony of aromas greets visitors, drawing them into a gastronomic embrace. The manager on duty katherine homeres is an amazing filipina manager.

The taste of food here is similar to Thai fusion restaurants, the price of dishes is under 23$. Fast service food. They have a large and vibrant space, many big tables, decorated with many neon lights like Thai street style with striking patterned tablecloths..The music is quite loud for me. This place is quite close to convenient parking.

We has catering from kiss kiss for our end of year staff Christmas function! It was amazing! Great food and flavours and so reasonably priced and delivered bang on when we needed it Staff had rave reviews on it. Will definitely book again

The restaurant vibe is really cool 👍 The Tom Yum soup taste fantastic! The chicken curry noodle surprised me, I love it!
Michael Jerome de Loyola
I’ve been here twice already. The first time, we had the ribs and pad thai. They were so delicious. Second time, we had the green curry and pork belly with rice, they were delicious as well. Then restaurant have the asian vibe that reminded me of a carinderia (street style restaurant) back home in the Philippines.

We had a group booking for 38 people. what an incredible experience was had by all... Superb food, awesome venue, fantastic staff, fast service, and very well priced. we were delighted. A fantastic night out and a real showcase of Auckland cuisine... we will be back and would highly recommend this venue to anyone who wants an incredible night out.

Lovely place and surprisingly children friendly. Kids meal is a great deal and my kid always enjoy it. Pork open bao bun is a Must try! Highly recommend sticky rice with your savory dishes like chicken wings, whole snapper or pork ribs. Pad thai is good too. I tried the buddha bowl this time and not really a fan of it. I thought the satay and coconut sauce was too much. Also a bit of wait so be patient when you’re here.

The varied Menu caters to a range of taste buds! We enjoyed each of the dishes we had ordered, however, the Pork Ribs was amazing - they are prepared exquisitely and the meat just falls to the bone. Loved the casual set-up and decor but having a mix of more comfortable seating would be a bonus. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

Visited this place this morning, great service and amazing timing which I appreciated, all the food came together at the same time so there was no awkward waiting, the only thing I have a issue with was the price the share platters were a little expensive but it was worth the experience ☺️
Maki AndArt
I love everything about Kiss kiss. Most specially their food. It’s flavorful and have a right portion at a very reasonable price. Been dining here with a big group and they accommodate us on the day booking. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. Will definitely going back to Kiss Kiss.

Street food vibes and well done, a pleasant space to enjoy good food. Lots of tables and spacious so good for eating with a group.

The place was lovely! Would definitely recommend this to people wanting to try out different food! There was way too much ginger in my drink but other than that very nice!

This place is so freaking awesome! Decor, ambience and vibe totally rad!! Food is really really good with maybe portions and great drinks menu. Beers were small but we'll priced. Caution: There is 90% pork on the menu, everything from starter to mains is all pork because it's northern Thai and they have stuck to their true pork heavy cuisine. And the staff is just the best, service was lightning fast and super friendly and polite. We ordered the pork belly curry rice dish and the rice balls salad with Thai sausages - they both were awesome, even though I am not a light beer person, I liked their brothers lychee lager.

I have been to a number of Thai restaurants and this has to be the best so far. Only tried a few of their dishes and all of it were really good. The pad thai is unlike any other and the pork ribs are just delicious. Very affordable menu as well and won't cost an arm and leg. Staff service were top notch. Definitely worth coming back to on my next trip back to Auckland.

love the food. craved it all lockdown. always get fantastic service from the friendly staff. awesome mix of drinks available also. must try pork bao and sticky ribs<br/>

Staff/service: 5/5<br/>Venue: 4/5<br/>Price/portion: 4/5<br/><br/>Came here for a birthday celebration. The staff was super friendly and nice. They saw me carrying a cake and asked if I wanted to store the cake in their fridge.<br/><br/>Food here is good for sharing and the decor is interesting with nice ambience.<br/><br/>When it’s time for the cake. The staff prepared for us with candles. Really great job.<br/><br/>Would recommend going to here again.<br/><br/>Join Zomato Pro and get a flat discount on the total bill. Just yum!!! I had the fabulous lemongrass chicken bao and shared a salad with my friend. I can’t fault the food - the crunchy rice bits in our salad just topped it off. Will definitely be back! Staff were lovely and service very prompt.

Tried and loved it :D we had sweet and sour pork belly & of course pad Thai! I would say Saan has more variety in terms of menu selection - but overall it was awesome, enjoyed my food

The travel to Balmoral is worth it just to literally gobble down the most delicious Chicken Bao buns on this planet. The texture of the bun, the sauce and the chicken is divine... and the exceptional service for a busy restaurant does not go unnoticed... love this place
LuNa The TuNa
Omg this is so impressive. Fresh mango, coconut rice, not too sweet and not too sour. Everything just right. Will definitely order again. I love Thai dessert~
Kathrine Haigh
We came in for Sunday lunch and staff were really friendly and accommodating with the kids. We loved the sticky rice and mango dessert! So we will be back! Good vibes overall.
Tony Ma
Very disappointed. I had high hopes...tried their chicken bun today. <br/><br/><br/>Chicken lack flavour and seasoning. Also lacks spice. And lacks chicken! 60% of the entire chicken was batter!<br/><br/>The bun itself lacks flavour. Texture was ok. Very underwhelmed. <br/><br/>Not sure if Because they are about to close or lacked something... not sure... very dissapointed. <br/><br/>Took 3 bites and threw it in the bin.
Zhan Curtis
Have had the bao burgers and pad Thai here. The burgers are pretty small and a bit pricey and the pad Thai isn't that great. But I do really like the Mango and Sticky Rice dessert. But this place has a great look and atmosphere, it's just too bad the food isn't that great
Jay
Honestly this place is overrated. The food isn't authentic and doesn't taste particularly good either. The service is ok, but rushed and not as friendly as you get in real asian restaurants. This is very much designed to be an Asian themed watering hole than any real restaurant. <br/><br/>What's really frustrating is the seating - all benches to replicate outdoor Asia is great, except when you want to go as a couple - no real privacy anywhere.<br/><br/>Overall, overpriced mediocre and unauthentic food, annoying decor, and more Instagram than reality.
Alas
The flavours are subtle. Wish it had more stronger Asian flavour. Hot is more like medium. The buns are thin but is OK. Ingredients are fresh though. Nice friendly staff. Sour mocktail was nice. Love the decor. Service is great. $60 for 2 people with drinks.

Would recommend this place. Good food, loved the ambience. Food presentation was beautiful and tastes so yummy. Serving size are big and great for sharing with family. Value for the food was reasonable.

The staff at kiss kiss really make the experiance! From friendly management to lovely waitresses 💞 I love this place. Also great bang for buck
Monica A
Great vibe and cool decor. Food was a bit too small portion and pricey though.
Allison B
The Pad Thai and Kuaitiao Khua Kai (Menu items 17 and 18) were amazing. Not only was everything delicious the food came so quickly I thought we were getting someone else’s order at first! Quick, delicious, and tons of food! I can’t wait to go back.

Because I've often see Kiss Kiss very packed, I wanted to see what it was all about. I ordered the chicken nibbles, pork larb, mango sticky rice and some noodles with tofu. My favourite dish was the chicken nibbles because they were tender and very juicy. Everything else, I probably wouldn't order again. The atmosphere is pretty unique and it is a very casual vibe.
Alice
Don’t order the tofu bun. It was the thinnest piece of tofu, plain cabbage and a lot of mayonnaise. Not worth it. Neither was the pork bun it was basically just fat. The pork belly salad was good tho. Overall disappointing.
Megan Browne
Absolutely amazing! I had the tofu bun and it was delicious, along with the phat kana which was so flavourful. I also had the French fries which topped off the whole delicious meal which left me extremely full. My mum had the Buddha bowl and she loved it as it was full of different flavours. The staff were lovely and super friendly, would definitely come back

Have always wanted to try this place since it open because I'm so curious of their meals. Ordered the Pad Thai, Larb Pork and Pork Belly Bao. I must say though the flavor is there the Larb was too salty. I know fish sauce is one of the ingredients of the Larb Moo but there was no balance with Salty, sweet and Acidity on the meal. The Pad Thai is quiet unusual as well with the different type of noodles they use but its just ok. The service was quiet good though, staff's doing their meal checks and all.
Trin
Amazing food! This place is great for a large group so you get to try a bit of everything!
Chan Can Eat
Delicious food here and cool(ly) decorated interior<br/>The baos are yum as are the deep fried tofu<br/>Great ambience, great vibe and delicious food & decor here

Awesome Atmoshphere! , we came here just after opening time and ordered the Bao Buns, Pad Thai, Pork Ribs and Khao Soi.. Loved the food, Great Authentic Thai taste.. I recommend coming here during off peak times to guarantee yourself a table..
Pig Cat
Must-try restaurant on Dominion Road. Vibrant and colorful decor with friendly staff service. Food was delicious and got so many wow-factors in it! Pad Thai was amazing and so were the other dishes. Last visit I also noticed that they sell insects as package snacks. What an interesting restaurant.<br/>Like the idea of cocktail menu as well.
Fi Bing
Beautiful ambience. Quite a unique place and lovely restaurant to socialise. Tasty food and fills u up. Definitely a place to try out!
Mia Sun
Wow, favoriate Thai restaurant in Auckland. Crazy with their pork belly and fish. Every sigle dishes tried so far all tasty. Trust me Must try!!
Liv
The pork ribs were SO good. My friend and I matched it with the chicken & prawn pad Thai with one of their cocktails. The atmosphere was great, service was quick and friendly.
Sarah Tran
Lucky enough to get a table immediately on a Friday night. The food is excellent with all the Thai flavour: sour and fresh. I love the pork ribs and fish which are great taste-matching with the sticky rice, or even jasmine rice. However, we had to wait for more than 20’ for our food which wasn’t so nice if you visited with your empty stomach. Food for the late coming tables arrived but we still had to wait in vain (even there were some same dishes as we ordered), staffs seemed lack of care.
Oceane
Sticky rice and mango is tooooooo sweet, although I know it is in sweets menu, I don’t need so much sugar to remind me what I am eating. So disappointed
Gloria Ching
I always love coming to kiss kiss for a chilled out place to catch up with friends over a good feed. Brought a friend from Taupo for a late lunch on Sat. We ordered:<br/>1) Phat Thai Thamada- pretty much your standard Pad Thai (nothing particularly special). It was cooked well with generous amounts of chicken, peanuts and tofu etc but we both felt the dish could do with more spice so added our own Siracha. <br/>2) Yum Moo Krob- the spicy and sour pork belly was crispy yet tender, accompanied with a fresh salad that had a beautiful sour tangy dressing. The flavours just worked so well. <br/>Overall the place to go for a hipster vibe with tasty Thai fusion food.

Decided to be adventurous and go to @kisskisseatery in dominion road for some thai 😮<br/><br/>Food: 7/10<br/>Atmosphere: 7/10<br/>Service: 7/10<br/>Recommend: 8/10<br/><br/>We ordered the pork belly and fried chicken buns ($9.50 each), the phat thai thamadaa ($17.90 for chicken), and the yum moo krob ($17.90). .<br/>.<br/>.<br/>.<br/>The yum moo krob was hands down the best dish of the night with its fatty and crispy pork belly that just melts in your mouth, and freshness of the salad drenched in the iconic sweet and sour thai fish sauce dressing 🤤🤤🤤. Only let down was the sticky rice on it since it was relatively hard, and some pork slices being a bit dry in the lean parts (8/10). The phat thai wasn't bad, but relatively average 😬 (6/10). For the buns, the pork belly was hella juicy but needed a bit more sauce since the bun can make things a bit dry (7/10). On the other hand, the fried chicken bun was loaded with sauce, but the breast meat itself was a bit dry (6/10) 😕. The atmosphere was unique but the music was a bit too loud since I could barely hear what my partner was saying to me 😅.

The decor and the lighting in the restaurant really adds to the overall experience. With their prompt and quick service it makes for an enjoyable meal.<br/><br/>My absolute favourite dish on their menu would have to be the Pad Thai. Love the funk that it has - you know it's good when you can smell the fish sauce! It's tangy, salty and spicy! The noodles are still al dente. This dish never disappoints.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a fun and quirky place to eat with delicious food, this fits the bill.<br/>
William Van Roosmalen
For full disclosure I am not generally a fan of Asian fusion cuisine. Kiss Kiss is essentially that. The food was good and had good flavours in their pork belly salad. The Pad Thai was average, and at $21.00 not the best value for money. Overall, a good dining experience. Also, you are unlikely to get your own table, FYI.

This restaurant has been recommended in the past but we didn't had the chance and what we were missing!!!!<br/>Although the restaurant is simple reminding Bangkok street food, what makes you leave the house is definitely the food.<br/>The Khao Phat Muu was above delicious and the Khao Soi Kai to die for.<br/>Definitely a place to try
Vegesaur
Lovely interior, and a few veggie and vegan options to choose from. My fave was the tofu bao, and I wish I'd got 2 of them! The noodles were ok, but a little bland. Great cocktails, very helpful staff, quick service. I'll def be back to try more. I'd love a couple more veggie options though!
Cheapeatobsession
Amazing choice and variety!! something for everyone! great for big groups. Doesn’t take bookings but wait isn’t too long. Amazing cocktails and super funky vibe. Cool colours and even cooler way to read cocktail menu! love everything about this place especially the ambiance and art. would definitely recommend

Staff were friendly but inattentive - we waited over 40 minutes to get someone to take our order after trying to wave someone down for a while, and when our food arrived it was dropped off at the head of the table with no explanation. Food was bland - I had the tofu larb which was small and flavourless, and my friends got the pork belly which they said was overly chewy and lacked flavour as well. The $9 “Thai style fries” are literally just McDonald’s fries that come with a mayo so definitely not worth the price. The bao buns everyone else got were apparently really good, but overall a pretty disappointing experience after we’d all been so excited to come here. Definitely will stick to Happy Boy or HotHot or just authentic Asian cuisine in future

Finally went here after tonnes of recommendations and it lived up to the hype! Food was great but a shout out to the lychee beer! The pork belly curry was crazy good and the meat melted like butter! Must try!
Denny M
Ribs is tender and nicely seasoned. <br/>Pad Thai and fries is a little bland today, but usually good. <br/>Food came together at the same time. Service is always great and good wait time!

Great food. The ribs were quite nice. The fish were yummy. Will definitely come here to try other food. Quite crowded so make sure you come early. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.

Tucked down on a side street off busy Dominion road. I feel like I was having dinner at a street shop on an isolated island. Love the vibe and the neon lighting so so much. Service is good. Their ribs are really something that you should die for. I and my partner really enjoy it. However, the Pat Thai is just so so, definitely not up to our expectation and not as good as other Thai places that we have been to. Portion is quite decent so I don't recomnend you order more than 2 main dishes fir 2 people. For desert, we had the mango sticky rice with coconut milk. I must say the coconut milk is a bit over sweet for us. Luckily, we've got the sour mango to balance. Overall experience is super cool tho. Btw, they also sell lollies with real arachnids/insects inside. Give those lollies a try guys haha

Porkribsssssss! Best in Auckland I reckon. Used to love the other American chain restaurant's ribs. But now kiss kiss is my favourite. The atmosphere puts you in the street of Thai. Bucket cocktail to share or not. Every dish is right in the place definitely gonna come back with friends again.
Margarita Ramos
Went here for an early dinner with my boyfriend and we had the pork bun, chicken pad thai and the larb. ALL of the dishes were sooo good and very fillling. But my favourite would have to be the pad thai. Will defs go back and get that next time im craving some good pad thai.
Lucy
One of the kind Thai restaurant set around Dominion Rd. Love the island decorations and lively vibe. Staff are warm and friendly. Great for a causal night out with friends.<br/><br/>Food are well portioned. The pad thai was quite delicious and welly flavored. The chicken bun was crispy on the outer and tender on the inside with a tasty sriracha mayo. The chicken nibble was flavorful, but very dry. The beef vermicelli salad was a bit plain.<br/><br/>Overall worthy of its price. <br/><br/>Food: 7/10<br/>Food presentation: 6/10<br/>Service: 8/10<br/>Location: 7/10<br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/>Price $30

Good food, great portions and lovely staff. Ambience is a bit too loud and jazzy but I wouldn’t mind visiting this place again for the food and drinks. Had pork ribs (yum!) and pad Thai (good). Worth a try and definitely worth for money !
Komal G
Yummy food and portioned well. Definitely is filling. Had a long wait and also having to share tables isnt really what I'm used to! But overall good food and staff were very nice.

I went to this restaurant about a month ago and had to write a review. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. Friendly service with great food. What more could you ask for? Seriously, it is worth visiting :)
Alyssa Cabingan
You definitely need to check this place out. Third time visiting this place was during my 19th birthday and I absolutely loved it. I definitely think you pay for what you get and the food just has so much flavour. A personal favourite of mine is the lemon grass chicken buns and the thai iced tea. <br/><br/>It’s a bit of a drive from where we live but so worth it.<br/>

Decided to try this place out after seeing it on Zomato. <br/>We made use of my sis Zomato Gold 1+1 food and my Groupon voucher. <br/>Good value for money as the four dishes we got was enough to leave us feeling full afterwards. <br/>Our favourite dish was the pork ribs. The meat is well cooked to perfection and falls right off. <br/>The salad we got however lacked seasoning and was very bland. <br/>Overall score:<br/>Ambience 4/5 the tables felt a bit sticky as we sat to eat. <br/>Service 5/5<br/>Food 4/5<br/>Value for money 5/5
Rosanne Choy
Came in for dinner yesterday night. We ordered the fried rofu, mayo, crispy with cabbage with a Bangkok style dressing and coriander bun, Sii Khrong Moo Yaang (thai style pork ribs served with Jaew sauce), Khao Soi Kai (curry noodle soup), Kiss Kiss buddha bowl, som tum salad, the sticky rice and mango dessert and the la cha cha drink.  The kiss kiss buddha bowl had lots of sauce inside, extremely flavourful and tasted a bit sour and sweet at the same time. A good option for vegetarians. The som tum salad was a bit spicy but tasted very nice. Curry noodle soup felt like laksa. It was strong and heavy in flavour. Mango sticky rice came with very sweet coconut sauce. One of the better mango sticky rices I've tasted. Tofu bun is strongly recommended. Atmosphere was wacky. Staff was real nice.
Genuben
We came for dinner on a Sunday and the place was packed! With no booking, my party of three was seated less than two minutes and the staff was friendly, attentive and service was quick. <br/>We had Pad Thai (chicken and prawn) and pork ribs which was melt-in-your-mouth delish! The lemongrass chicken and pulled pork buns were both so flavourful I wanted to order more but my tummy was already stretched. <br/>My 7 year old ate everything on his plate...this boy doesn’t usually like Asian-fusion food. Apparently, KissKiss is the exception. <br/>Three stars because there were flies which were mostly confined to the loo. A bit of fly spray and easily a four-star experience.

This is definitely one of my favourite foodie spots! My partner and I dined here last night - we ordered one of the Buns (lemongrass chicken one), fries and the pork ribs between the two of us and loved all three dishes. Everything is always cooked to perfection every time I come here and the ambience and service is impeccable. Highly recommend this spot!
Alice In New Zealand
It was wonderful diner. I enjoyed so much. Had chicken bun, fish, chips, pat-tai. Everything was so yum. I will definitely come back. Kind and lovely staff
Soumya PriyaDarshini
The place was awesome with lovely staff. Just love the vibe ! <br/>Tried whole snapper, pork buns , sriracha chicken wings all deliciously tasty!
Kate
No bookings so we had to wait about 20 minutes, wasn't too bad however as you were able to purchase a drink whilst you waited. We ordered the pork and chicken bun, both great however preferred the pork, as well as the popular favourite pad Thai. <br/><br/>The whole vibe of the restaurant is great, quirky and colourful, would definitely recommend and would go again myself.

This place literally has a piece of my heart. We came on a friday night, so it was busy. Had a small wait but ordered drinks. Once we were seated and ordered we were good.<br/><br/>Spare ribs, deep fried whole fresh fish, pork bun and fries.<br/><br/>I gotta tell you, the deep fried whole fish was simply unbelievable.<br/>I do believe it was the spicey thai sauce which came in a plastic bag that made this dish. If you like some heat and fish, THIS is the dish for you!<br/>I loved the pork ribs. The sweet marinade with a hint of cinnamon really sat well with me. Heaps of meat, and just a delight. Def try these.<br/>The pork bun was good too. And ofcourse the fries, nice and crispy almost as if they'd been air fried. Just a delightful meal all round.<br/><br/>Service was quick and efficient. Presentation of all the food was simple but it all worked. Great art spruced over the walls. Friendly staff. Tidy. The atmosphere was buzzing, but quite loud so be prepared for that. The bill suprised us in a great way. Amazing food without the killer pricetag!<br/><br/>5/5 This will be a monthly treat for us indefinitely. Get here!!!
Hannah Chiam
Really, really yummy food. Service was friendly and fast. We had the whole fried fish, pulled beef salad and the sticky pork dish. Fiber licking good! Great iced coffee and for dessert we shared the dough in custard. Too stuffed to walk after all that!
Cesar Luis
We have been here a couple of times, in both occasions it has been delicious, our favorite dishes are Pad Thai -spicy and awesome- and pork ribs -juicy and filling- the decor is pretty cool, well done!

Food was disappointing. Service was disappointing. Not recommended.<br/><br/>Guy at the counter was rude, and the food is just shameless appropriation that tasted terrible. Never had bad ribs until now.<br/><br/>

Brave to come here at dinner with children. No bookings required therefore we waited at least 25 minutes to get a seat. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is very lively. We ordered Sii Khrong Moo Yaang (Thai Style Pork Ribs), Thai Style Pork Belly bun and Neua Naam Tok (Beef Vermicelli salad). We just love the tenderness of the pork ribs meat - not the off the bone but tender enough for easy eating, the marinade was combination of sweet, sourish and ginger flavour when dipped in Jaew sauce took it to the next level of tangy kick. The pork belly bun was just delicious too with crunchy crackling and pillow soft bun. The beef from the vermicelli salad may be their take for the regular Thai Beef salad which we love the flavours too. Good dining experience for us.

◾Great Service<br/>◾ Good Vibes<br/>◾ Tasty food<br/><br/>We did a random groupon for Kiss Kiss and it was well worth the drive.<br/>They don't take bookings , but the wait was not long and they have a bar. So win win :)<br/><br/>We ordered :-<br/>A thai style pork bun - this was fresh, tasty and well worth the 7 bucks.<br/>To share we ordered the sriracha chicken nibbles with fried shallots. This was surprisingly tasty, even though sriracha can normally be overpowering there was the right amount of (I think honey) to keep it spot on. Totally worth eating with your fingers!<br/>To share we grabbed GAENG HANG LAY ...this was just yum!!<br/>Finally we grabbed the donuts..and they were enormous...a tad phallic donuts ;) with green custard. But again awesome<br/><br/>All in all it's a great spot and one I will be going to again.<br/><br/>

Kiss Kiss has the most amazing atmosphere, without a doubt this was the biggest highlight of the location. I would probably rate this just under 4 if I could mainly because the food wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It's not bad and is still good, but for the price point and what I've heard I was slightly underwhelmed. It did, however, sate my hunger, which a lot of popular places just don't do anymore. I normally feel like I'm paying a premium for the whole atmosphere and everything else besides the foods, but this place did fill me up. It might not look like much at first, but it turned out to be quite a bit. It really helps that there are so many herbs, and citrus in the pad si ew. The actual flavour was quite strong but the herbs helped to cut through the strong flavour which made the dish quite palatable. This place is a great place for get-togethers with friends. Not somewhere I would take my parents, but somewhere that I would take my friends. One example would be that if one of my friends got their full license then I would go with them to this place to treat and wow them. If they haven't been there before it's like they have stepped away from the hustle and bustle of Dominion Road and into somewhere else.
Ben Willis
Amazing food and lovely customer service. Would definitely recommend for lunch, dinner or just a snack. Nice vibe and design. suitable for all ages
S&G Take Auckland
Oh ma gash this place was everything I expected and more! The lemon grass chicken bao was delish. Nice chunky piece of crispy chicken with pickled onions and a perfect bao yum ! Skinny fries were also toight with a tangy powder will definitely be back... not too sure what the side of $3 satay sauce was supposed to accompany but a nice big portion which went well with the fries too. The only reason I’m not giving this place a 5 is because the service from staff was soooo slow 15-20 min to get the attention of staff while ordering and trying to get a takeaway and the place wasn’t that busy
Adrianna
We went here at night. Love the atmosphere and decor and quirky viewmaster cocktail drinks menu. Nice and friendly staff. The floor was noticeably very sticky for some reason. <br/><br/>We ordered a $22 cocktail bucket (very diluted taste), pad thai, two different buns, as well as some interesting and scary snacks - scorpions 🦂 ($12) and a tarantula 🕷($20!) packet. There was also grasshoppers, but we didn’t order it.<br/><br/>Would come here again with a group of friends for the good vibes and to try their other food/drinks.
Persian Foodie
We got the chicken pad Thai, pork belly coriander curry with coconut jasmine rice, free range fried chicken bao bun and chips with tumeric spices. Portion was great. Dishes had familiar and yummy taste! I absolutely loved the yellow sauce in the bao bun and the fried chicken was super succulent. Took a doggy bag home because we couldn't finish it off! The curry was a little watery and lacked the bold taste and close to no spice but the pork belly pieces were juicy and tender. The chips were very over salted so the remaining ones at the bottom of the bowl we literally couldn't eat because they were covered in salt. Pad Thai is a classic though! Would come back again definitely! Oh and the service was super quick! We literally got our food 5 minutes later. I didn't mind that the benches were shared because the benches were long and the restaurant was spacious! If you want a quiet romantic environment for an intimate chat, this is probably not your preference. But it's good for group birthdays and social events. Considering chinoserie is its sister restaurant and chinoserie was an utter, bland, dry disappointment, kiss kiss was a pleasant surprise!
Rose
Pork belly bao gets my vote every time, but despite living so close I hardly ever go to Kiss Kiss - it's just that much pricier than places that I think do equally good Thai food nearby, like Zap2. However, kiss kiss would be an ideal place to take a family group who want alcoholic drinks, tasty snacks, and euro-palate-friendly Thai food.
Danique Tupou-Boyce
Would recommend this place to everyone😍 The place has great vibes, if u love ribs..this is the place to visit for fall of the bone type of ribs, sticky rice and mango is worth the try also!!!!

Been wanting to try this place for ages! If you've been to Happy Boy you should be familiar with the bright neon lights and friendly and chill atmosphere. The service here was great, everyone was so lovely and welcoming. We went in a Tuesday night so it wasn't too busy. We ordered the pad Thai with chicken, the pork belly bao , sriracha chicken and the sticky rice with magic for dessert. The dessert was okay, it was a bit too sweet and the mangoes didn't taste like anything (maybe because out of season?) , But everything else we got was amazing! I especially loved the sriracha chicken. Get the extra satay sauce! You won't regret it! Can't wait to come back here and try more!

I have been told by so many people that if I like Thai cuisine, I simply must visit Kiss Kiss.<br/><br/>I loved the decoration and the vibe of this restaurant: so colorful, bright, and happy! I felt as if we were transported to a tropical island.<br/><br/>We got the sriracha chicken nibbles to share. It was beautiful: the perfect balance between spicy, tangy, with a hint of sweetness! It has had a crispy skin, but still tender on the inside.<br/><br/>My chicken Pad Thai was average: there were only a few chicken pieces, and the flavoring was underwhelming. The rest of the group enjoyed their food though. However, all of us found the serving sizes a bit small, especially that you have to add an extra $3 just for the Satay sauce (the sauce was delicious though, but one is probably enough for the table).<br/><br/>All in all Kiss Kiss definitely has decent food, but I’m not too sure if it’s special enough to worth the hypo or traveling for.

Love the vibe of this place its like you're in a resto near the beach 😎 Love the chicken bun. Also, the pad thai is different from the usual but soooo delicious. Staff were friendly especially the one in the counter.

Went here recently with a friend and had the pork ribs and pad thai. Both were delicious! We also shared a bucket cocktail which I thought was a really cute idea. Service was attentive. The only downside was the wait to get a table, which is understandable since it's a popular spot and it felt a bit cramped.

Great place for some good Asian fusion food! Awesome price for some delicious food, good for both large groups and date nights. Well conceited interior too and totally #gramworthy! They also do some pretty bomb cocktail buckets 👌🏽

We ordered the pork belly bao - delish, generous serving of pork. Also had a fried chicken bao - the chicken was really tough but still tasty. We had pad Thai and that was really tasty. Friendly staff , good service<br/>It was also really good to see the chefs in the kitchen smiling and laughing as they were working - really adds something nice to the atmosphere of the place. We will be back

HINT: As they don't take reservations (understandable), get there by five if you're going on a Saturday. I arrived just before and the place was starting to fill up, by six it was chocka, by seven they were taking names for seats or groups were leaving. <br/><br/>Food was delicious. I ordered the Pad Thai. Upon its first taste it did need more heat but they have the chili to the side so you can add to your own taste. The peanuts added a nice crunch, once again to your own taste. My friends both had the Khao Phan Muu for which they had no complaints. <br/><br/>The drinks menu was quite limited and although the cocktail was nice I felt like it needed a little more alcohol.<br/><br/>The staff are friendly but I did feel that because they are so busy you don't get much attention unless they come to clear your table. I got a little confused when I first got there because I was only asked if I wanted water so after waiting 15 minutes I asked for a drink at the bar.<br/><br/>I totally get the kitsch beachy vibe, very cool! But it was ruined by a guy practising the drums upstairs which broke into the music playing in the cafe.<br/><br/>Overall, it's ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if I was in the neighbourhood I would.

Food was nice and very well priced, service was great. A bit tricky to find parking unfortunately. Only downfall is that I would have loved 100x more coriander on my food 😂

Booking is unavailable, but fortunately, there were plenty of seats available for lunch. (I heard that it is quite busy for dinner.) We had the Thai pork ribs which were recommended by our friends, the special of the day - 3 chicken skewers in one order, a whole deep-fried fish (snapper, served with tamarind, garlic & chilli), a phad si ew (stir-fried rice noodles with pork & veggies) & a couple of sticky rice. The ribs really deserved our thumbs up - very tasty with a special sweet & sourness; lean but not tough. The chicken in the rice noodles was tough & so were the skewers which were way over-priced. The snapper was very nice - spicy hot but just right for me.<br/>P.S. The lychee & lemongrass lager on tap was worth a try.<br/>(Food- 3.5/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 2/5)<br/>Visited on 12 Aug 2018

This place has an unique vibe that I cant find anywhere else. Been following them on instagram for a while and finally we got the chance to give it a go. We went for lunch on Saturday so it wasn’t packed. We ordered pad thai, rice and salad. It wasn’t really authentic but I really enjoyed the combination between Thai and Kiwi cuisine. My pad Thai brought back memories when I was a little kid (weird). Suitable portion. Lovely service. Plenty room for lots of customers. My boyfriend liked his food as well. Will be back soon!

Super yummy food, great quirky ambiance and very friendly staff. I was really surprised at how crispy and super delish their whole snapper was. Definitely coming back here again

If you love neon vibe anything, Kiss kiss is a place for you. The take on thai food served with a hint of playfulness elevates the dining experience, orrrrr just go for that special instagram pic cos ur cool.<br/><br/>Food- 8/10<br/>Service- 9/10<br/>Aesthetics- 10/10

Came here with friends for lunch and loved the menu! so many different options and great to see a few vegetarian selections too. I had the king of love cocktail which was a little strong but had really good flavour!

Thai cuisine is probably my favourite cuisine and kiss kiss is right up there with the best of Thai places. From the buns through to the noodle or rice dishes we're never disappointed. Our most recent visit was for the whole deep fried fish and stir fried rice with pork. It was so yummy. The place is very urban cool with neon and pink lighting and also include a hip drinks menu. Staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. Give it a go....you won't be disappointed.

Great place to go! Good atmosphere and the service is excellent. Don’t miss the ribs! A must. Small menu but all plates are fantastic. Deserts also good. I am a regular.

Took my family here for lunch, we’re big eaters... everything was so flavourful and FILLING! Might I add there were 8 of us - ordered 3 plates of ribs, could only finish 2 😂 Daniel was our waiter - he was awesome!
Sarina Tuihalangingie
Loved everything about this place - seating, decor, service, and most importantly the food. From the thin rice noodles to the curry noodle soup and the ribs there's nothing I can't complain about really. I also liked that the place was child friendly as well. Would definitely come back to try other things on the menu.

Found some string in our Pad Thai but other than that was very tasty meal. Would advise closer quality control to ensure no food safety issues

Absolutely love this place. Staff are friendly and attentive, food is great!!! Pork ribs are a must try.... want to go back again and Ive already been here three times in the past two weeks.

The ambiance is great. The food is what you expect. Something about the lighting always makes me smile. It’s a great addition to the rest of the family - if you love chinoiserie or happy boy, you’ll love kiss kiss
Brojoe1021
Cool decoration nice beers. But the food is terribly bland. Much better asian fusion places around. I would suggest grabbing a beer on your way to one of the many cheap eats around. If you are after asian Fusion go to White and Wongs. Or Chinoiserie<br/>

Overall really tasty food but wouldn’t consider it authentic thai food. Must order the pork ribs and fried fish!! Definitely must-try :):) Wouldn’t recommend the bao though, they’re pretty average although I heard they’re a customer favourite. Will definitely come back for the ribs! 😁😁

AMBIENCE 3/5<br/>SERVICE/STAFF 5/5<br/>FOOD 4/5<br/>PRESENTATION 4/5<br/>QUANTITY/PRICE 4/5<br/><br/>To start off with the ambience is beautiful the paintings and the huge umbrella large tables for small groups. However the tables and seating in my opinion is a little uncomfortable to sit. To look at is nice the way it’s all<br/>Set up however when you are actually sitting down to have a meal . Felt a little uncomfortable. <br/><br/>When we went it was a bit busy, although it was busy our order was taken quickly and food did not take long and the staff was very friendly. <br/><br/>A little downfall for me personally was there wasn’t much chicken options, almost 80% pork. But still we managed to order chicken pad Thai and chicken nibbles which was not that spicy, but had a lot of meat in them and was cooked very well . But there are sauces on the tables and got offered chillies. Presentation was very nice as well and got offered rice in a tiny basket.<br/><br/>Finally the quantity was good for the price, some items I felt were a little over priced , overall definitely recommend this place and will go back to try more things on the menu. Not a lot of options on menu and it was missing the traditional soup like other restaurants. Simple and sweet.
Jmo
Great food at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly. Would be great if you could book though, especially as they don’t have any seating area while you’re waiting. I would recommend this place to others.
Benedict Uy
The food prices here are similar to most of the other Asian fusion restaurants but the best thing about this place is that the portions are decent. Most of the items are under $20.<br/><br/>I had the pork rib and the crispy rice salad. The pork ribs were simply delicious and the portion was enough for a meal or two. That with rice would have been enough. I also tried the crispy rice salad since it sounded interesting. The flavours were interesting but i couldn't really taste much of the sausage. The rice gave it a nice crispy texture and made it fairly filling. I did regret not trying the pad thai since i could get the smell of fried egg each time it was ordered.<br/><br/>The seating was a bit different through. Large tables inside a fairly empty hall. It wasn't bust so i had a table to myself but would guess that you would most likely share with strangers if it did get busy.<br/><br/>If you were wanting to try something different to drink take a look at the viewmaster on the table (although they also do have a drinks menu but it isn't as fun).<br/><br/>Really interesting decor and the staff were really friendly. If you're game, they also have edible insects for sale by the counter. Nice place to stop by for nice food.

We came along for a birthday celebration for seven guests on a Saturday evening. We were seated promptly despite how busy the place was. Cocktails were tasty and the food was very nice, the peanut sauce is highly recommended! I understand what they’re going for with the unusual cocktail menu but to be honest I think a traditional menu would be more user friendly.

It is a probably good place to eat if you have a very tight budget.<br/>Good location and easy setting. Service is reasonable. But I just can't appreciate the food. It was not fresh and no quality when I had my first bite and immediately lost interest. Wonder why so many people love this place.
I'm Hungry
Auburn4000
If you love pork and act like one. Welcome.<br/><br/>Strong advocate of the Pork belly bao here. <br/>Have since brought two people here to try it, cause my fat a*s won’t shut up about it.<br/><br/>Service is good. Pricey. But worth your arm and organ. <br/><br/>Maybe stay away from the main dishes. They’re not as gr8 as other asian restaurants. I’ve had the pad thai & pork curry. And its a no from me in my simon cowell voice.<br/>
Jessia
Cool atmosphere and restaurant layout. They have vegan options which is cool. We all ordered a different bao bun each, they were good but we’ve had better. A friend and I shared a noodles, they were so oily we just could not eat them (we aren't picky either), so gave them to our friends to take home as leftovers. The following day 4/5 of us were unwell. Will not be returning.

Quick service, reasonably acceptable dishes. .. slightly overpriced cocktails (there wasn't much liquor in mine). We ordered the som tum salad (we enjoyed this), pad si eww (so so) and pork ribs (so so). It's no different from any thai eateries or takeaways in auckland except that it's got a more relaxed, shared eating-style atmosphere. Atmosphere was so-so if you don't mind cramped spaces. .. tables were also quite sticky though. .. so could do with a proper wipe.

3.5!<br/>Definately a great place to eat if you dont want to break your bank account but also want to get that instagram worthy pic.<br/>The interior here is so vibrant and colourful. Be mindful that you most prob have to share a table if you come as a couple or a trio.<br/>Ordered the larb, northern pork belly curry and sriracha wings. The larb was pretty nice-had lots if fresh flavour. Pork belly curry was good, could have used abit more flavour but the winning dish was defs the wings. So incredible 😍😍😍<br/>

Great place for delicious and affordable Thai food.<br/><br/>There are not many restaurants in this area that have interiors that are as colourful and as vibrant as Kiss Kiss, making it stand out from the rest.<br/><br/>The staff here give great customer service and the food comes quick even though they get fairly busy. <br/>Portions are great especially with the price.<br/><br/>We ordered their pork belly, chicken and tofu bao. All were tasty and well-made but they aren’t that different compared to other restaurants that also sell baos of the same variation.<br/><br/>Everything else we ordered were pretty tasty but some stood out more than others.<br/><br/>I really recommend their Naem Khao Tod which is a crispy rice salad. There’s a bit of sweetness to counteract the savoury notes but also feels really fresh and not heavy. There’s lot of textures with the meats, vegetables and the crispy rice bits which I love. I’d honestly come back just to have that 💕<br/><br/>It’s a great place to eat out without breaking your bank account too much. Definitely share the meals to try more than just one thing; if you say you love Thai cuisine and only get Pad Thai then stop lying to yourself. <br/><br/>This place isn’t 100% authentic but most of their food represents the cuisine fairly well.<br/>It’s always nice seeing places try to give their own take on things.<br/><br/>Will definitely come back here another time 👌

Went for a Friday dinner. The decor is pretty cool and the service outstanding, however the food leaves a lot to be desired. For Aucklanders who are looking for a little fun and have had little experience with Auckland's more authentic Asian cuisine, this is a great place.

We were recommended by a friend for their food. But they didn’t take reservation. So we thought it was a first come first service basis. In order to get enough seats for all of us, we decided to go early at 5.30 pm. On arrival we saw there were plenty of empty seats, at least five long tables. We need three long tables but our repeated requests were all rudely declined, asking us to sequence into one table. They knew very well one table was not enough for us but they were so rude and refused to concede. Their reason was other tables were for other potential customers. Ridiculous! I know they were in fact not welcoming us . So we were constrained to leave. Not sure about the quality of their food. But their restaurant was really bad, exactly like a cafeteria. Even if their food were cheap and their staff were nice, I won’t come to a place like this for dinner.

Came here for a snack lunch on a Saturday around 1pm. It wasn’t really busy or quiet and the interior design is very spacious; bringing a feeling of funkiness. Between 2 we got a lemon grass chicken bun and the ribs. The bun itself was alright but the chicken had too much coating which made it pretty dry even though the meat was tender. The ribs were bland itself as the bbq flavor was only on the surface. The flavor is inconsistent this time but the last time we went, it was delicious. <br/><br/>Taste - 7/10<br/>Price - 7/10<br/>Size - 8/10<br/>Service - 7/10<br/>Ambience - 8/10

Don’t come here if you have a big group. They apparently have a ‘policy’ of squeezing 12 people into a table meant for 8. In fact , they told us they were planning to sit 14 of us at one table.! That’s fine if you plan to sit on each other’s laps. When questioned about other tables where there were only two people, they said that they could be expected to share with strangers. So bottom line, don’t come here if you have a big party or if you are expecting to have a romantic date or even a private conversation with your mates. The manageress was arrogant and rude. We took our business elsewhere where we had a great meal and great service.
Breadzania
Turned up with 24 people and they forced us to squeeze into two tables where there are plenty of empty tables at 530pm. Obviously they don't need our business and are being quite rude and inflexible about it. There are other tables that have only two people on there. You can't put a no booking rule and then when people made effort to turn up early, you don't give them the tables they want.
Georgia Vossen
This place is so hip! It’s layout is alike to a lunch room, small low tables at a large amount fitted closely together. But it’s a atmosphere like you have never experienced. Cool and hip, neon lights and fluorescent colours about the place, arty designs. Sorry hard to describe to very cool! Let’s just say, you like it or you don’t. I feel it’s more targeted towards a late teens, young adult market. <br/>Food wise this place is really very good. Thai dishes, well priced, delicious flavours, variety. My vegan friend loves this place! Prices are very reasonable also. <br/>Only off thing about this place is the wait for a table, I’ve only ever come weekend nights but have had to wait over an hour for a table both times. I mean it shows how popular this spot is, but it is a bit annoying when your starving and don’t get a table till 9:30. They didn’t let us book over the phone either so that a no go. <br/>Highly recommend though, maybe just come around 5:30? Get a spot in early!

I was really disappointed with Kiss Kiss. It looks aesthetically pleasing but that's about all it's got going for it. Our service was slow (15min for a waiter when there was three other tables). They brought us the wrong food and had to make ours again. Then the "correct" food was lukewarm. I hope this is a one off as all other reviews are great, but I was really disappointed.<br/><br/>Update: Got food poisoning.
Hannah Rose
Always an amazing time at the always busy kiss kiss. The food is really nicely priced. I would just be ware that because they don’t do bookings it’s sometimes a bit of a wait

Had heard amazing things from the girls at work and was really disappointed... the ribs were very dry and fatty, actually put me off pork for a wee while. The pad thai was nice, but nothing to rave about, could have got one for half the price and just as good from round the corner on Dominion Road. Service was average at best and the atmosphere was dingy - had to sit next to a group of 14/15 year old girls taking selfies and screaming all night, was ultimately quite unpleasant. Really like their other restaurants so was a bit of a shame.

Went after work with our Cuisine Club, has skoped out the menu before hand, so ordering didnt take long - the food was ON POINT!  The Bucket Cocktail... was rather small for the price tag and its taste was an acquired one I suppose.  A friend and I shared and it took us the entire time we were dining to consume it... and we can smash cocktails back like shots.  Interesting lollipops on display at the counter, staff were very friendly, service was quick and we were able to split our bill between the three of us.  Word to the wise - GET THE RIBS TO SHARE... especially if you are having the gorgeous Chicken Wings and some Pork Bao.
Yuko Saito
Not super authentic, but still good vibes and pretty good food. The bucket cocktail was pretty “uniquely” flavoured. Can’t say it was my cuppa tea. We had padthai, curry, and then shared chicken wings, ribs and whole fish. Not including drinks, the meal came to 35 pp for 5 of us, and prob could have done 1 less dish.

Kiss Kiss is a fusion Asian eatery dressed in pink kitsch-ness off Dominion Road. It's a younger sibling of similarly popular, and blue-er, Chinoiserie in Mt Albert.

A step inside Kiss Kiss I had the impression I was transported to a beach side cafeteria while on holiday - was it the picnic tables and huge colourful beach umbrellas over us?!
Bella Luv Food
Lovely asian fusion admostphere. We ordered the cocktail of the day and it's so fun it came out in a bucket, probably enough for 3 people. Me and my husband enjoyed it. Everything is so tasty and the ribs came with big portion. Great place to catch up with friends.

Kiss Kiss is Dominion Road's modern, thai-fusion bombshell. It's renowned for the bright, vibrant, neon-pink, psychedelic graffiti vibes which make it stand out from literally all other eateries in Auckland, but I personally am overwhelmed by the volume of the music and pace of service that comes along with it. Sometimes I feel as if I am bothering the staff by wanting to order, and the busyness of it all means it's often a while before one is noticed and tended to. Nearly every time we come we have to seek attention and service from staff as opposed to the other way round. <br/><br/>However, it's a fun place to be in a crowd and a stimulating dinner location for a special, party occasion or before a night out! The food is quite delicious - the vegan options are so much appreciated and a real asset to Kiss Kiss. Noodles are tasty, sticky rice is sometimes a little hard but nonetheless delicious, and there is an extensive range of fun cocktails to go along with neon-coloured bug-filled candies. Classic kitschiness at its finest!<br/><br/>Overall, Kiss Kiss could be recommended for those looking for an exciting experience with tasty food, but perhaps not so much for those after a pleasant and relaxing dining experience (which I do admit is quite obvious by its vibrant aesthetic!). A cool blend of east and west, upmarket and cheap eats, and club versus restaurant.<br/><br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Ambience: 3.5/5

This place is the cutest! I can’t believe I’ve lived in Auckland for this long and have never been here before. It was super busy when we went so there was about a 30 minute wait. During that time we ordered a bucket cocktail from the bar, and that was super yummy and more than enough for 3 people to share as we weren’t drinking that much that night. We ordered Thai fried rice, curry noodle soup, the fried chicken and pork belly bao and siracha wings. We were pretty hungry so it went down super fast. Everything was so delicious! I would definitely recommend the pork belly bao and Siracha wings! They were definitely my favourite. Would definitely go back :)

Food options limited and uninspiring, substitution of regular mint, place reeks of rancid fish sauce.<br/>Music overbearingly loud.<br/>Service staff excellent, food presentation was nice but less than enjoyable. Price was okay for what you get, but definitely not coming back

I’ve been to Kiss Kiss many times and it always delivers on flavour. My favourite dish is the crispy rice salad with homemade northern Thai sausage. Add the fried egg - it’s worth it! The ribs are exceptional and the tangy sweet spicy sauce that comes with them is addictive. Shoe string fries with Siracha mayo a great addition to any order. Love the curry soup with chicken leg and noodles as well. Bao are pretty tasty too.

Tried the lost jungle & holy grail cocktails..ordered pad Thai, pork ribs and mango sticky rice as main and dessert.. Ribs was very flavorful but it was very dry and chewy on some pieces..Loved the mango sticky rice. The place was crowded and it sounded like a busy street market and it was so warm and stuffy. Almost passed out from the heat. Get a place out doors during the warm weather.

Weird, confusing and bizarre experience. Music was so loud it was hard to converse with even the people right next to me. We were seated right next strangers which we felt was not right considering the price we pay for the food and drinks. The staff were friendly but wore quite weird "uniforms" in which some were off putting. With that being said food wasn't the best either so definitely would not go back again.
Cristian Baldassarre
Awesome place... Good Thai food... I have an amazing time here.<br/>Love the food. Everything came really fast... Drinks looks very good.<br/>Place is not very expensive

We were very disappointed in the buns we had at Kisskiss tonight. We sampled a chicken and a pork belly bun but both were tasteless and the salad very average and also bland tasting. We were used to the delicious spicy buns from Chinoiserie so we were expecting the same at Kisskiss. On the bright side the service was friendly and the atmosphere was upbeat and fun.

10/10. Great Asian cuisine.<br/>Choose cocktails via a viewfinder,<br/>Great menu, exceptional food. Try the ribs, pad Thai, while fried snapper and the laksa. Delish!

The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered prawn crackers, chicken nibbles, phat thai, and another rice dish and they exceeded my expectations! They were full of so much flavour and were so generous portion sizes. My friends and I split the payment and all together it only cost $18 each which I feel is really great value for money. The atmosphere of Kiss Kiss was vibrant and addictive - not ideal if you don’t like eating in dark environments though. We sat outside and it was really great because we had a table to ourselves and were not cramped into their shared tables. The staff were efficient! Definitely try the Thai iced coffee - perfectly sweet yet bitter!

Came for dinner with party of 4 at 7pm. Very busy but were seated quickly by friendly front of house staff. <br/>Were seated right under stereo speaker which was quite loud. Asked for it to be turned down. It was for a few minutes and then quite obviously turned back up again. We asked again and again the same thing happened. Our waitress (different person from who seated us) gave the attitude she really didn’t want to be working that night. We felt like we were putting her out. <br/>All meals turned up fine and were delicious but the person who asked for the stereo to be turned down, who had ordered the Larb (minced pork, spices, herbs, fried shallots, garlic & sticky rice) almost chocked on their meal. It was loaded with chilli. It wasn’t sent back as we were too scared what else was going to happen!!!!

Friend recommended this restaurant so I decided to try it out. The environment was very chill and easy going which was nice and also great for taking photos. The staff was all very friendly but the food was too salty for my taste. I would recommend it for a one off experience.

I could kiss the food and the bowel ~ Super delicious, fragrant, flavourful food!! There’s always a line so be prepared to wait. Ordered: Thai style pork belly bun, Chicken nibbles, thin rice noodles and isaan pulled beef vermicelli salad. The bun was plain-dry meat with no sauce. Chicken nibbles however were tasty! Meat falls right off bone and every bite of chicken was slathered in a sweet/chilli sauce. Rice noodles were good but the winner was the salad. The entire salad was fragrant and tossed in a wide range of veges and spices that made each mouthful a burst of contrasting but perfect flavours!! Would definitely go again and try more !!

Finally visited this place and it was sick. Great place to go out with your buds- food is good to share and the cocktail buckets are 🤙. And it goes without saying that the decor is 😩🙏😛.

You had me at - kiss kiss 👍 Those ribs were oozing with sweet cane in my mouth. 'Don't be shy now.' 😂😂😂 We used our main as a sharing platter and it worked out well considering we wanted to try a lot of things at once. 😍😍😍<br/>Awesome to see some old skool binoculars again to look through for cocktails. Good touch. 👌<br/>Even better when they also do takeaways 👍👐<br/>Staff are awesome! Definitely a fun bunch which really makes the experience even better.<br/>I gave it a 4 star only because I prefer their other restaurant - Chinsoerie. Pork buns here were quite small and I just felt the other restaurant had better options on their menu. Apart from that, great little spot. Definitely worth a try. 😊👍<br/>

What not to love about Kiss Kiss!!! Attentive staff, delicious food with outstanding drink selection, amazing atmosphere with fun and playful setup, great prices! <br/><br/>We have been here a few times and our favourite dish will be the deep fried fish, super nyum! Thumbs up for the sticky rice mango dessert too, might not be comparable to the authentic ones from Thai (due to the Mangoes mainly), but this is pretty good and definetely not a lot of Thai restaurant brave enough to put this on the menu.

It's like somebody opened the moerish gates to food heaven. The pork and chicken buns were amazing. From the mayo to the crispy crust, I enjoyed it all. The meals are large so you only need 2-3 between two, maybe 4. We took our donuts and custard home, which were amazing reheated. The staff were cool, real hip hospital type who obviously love restaurant atmosphere, and want to be there. This really adds to the whole experience. This is going to be a staple must do for me when I'm in Auckland. Kimbo

Firstly, I absolutely RAVE about the ribs here! They are the best I've had in auckland! The sauce on the ribs themselves was amazing and I didn't even touch the dipping sauce on the side as I thought the ribs were already fantastic by themselves. My bf ordered pad thai which were very standard and not different from any other pad thai we've had. Their gua baos were also good and we tried their donut with pandan sauce which tasted great but definitely looked very off putting as it was a vivid dark green color. The sticky rice mango pudding was ok too but also standard compared to others. The wait for a table was about 10min but we didn't mind waiting. Staff were great and atmosphere was also great! Loved the tropical eccentric theme :) Will definitely be back for those ribs (they're pretty much the only reason I rated this a 4.5!) !!

Very busy eatery even at an early time at the start of the evening. The place is bustling with people.<br/><br/>Service is quick and food is served quickly. The menu is simple. <br/><br/>Not so highlights: <br/>The nuea nam tok was average. The beef wasn't what I expected in a nam tok. The beef was a bit dry in my opinion and the salad was hot which ruined all the herbs by cooking it. I wouldn't order this again.<br/><br/>The "Thai style French fries" we're just poorly fried fries with siracha Mayo. The fries seemed stale and were cold. Won't order this again.<br/><br/>The "doughnuts" and custard is way overpriced. With two Chinese style breakfast doughnuts and pandan custard at $11. This is a pretty hefty price considering you can get them for $1 each at the Asian supermarkets.<br/><br/>Highlights: The curry noodles was a generous proportion. The soup was very tasty and bursting with flavour.

Food is amazing here! Such a good twist on Thai dishes. Definitely would come here again, every night if I could. Only downfall is that the bar can get quite busy and there’s normally only one staff member manning it. It’s a bit of wait for a table, so it’s nice to get your drink straight away when you wait.

Can't go wrong with Kiss Kiss, such a classic and always delivers. Perfect for a date night, but get in early as it's always super busy! Reasonably priced for the quality.

If you haven't been to Kiss Kiss before then make sure it is your next destination. Sometimes it is best to go during the week instead of the weekend. Kiss Kiss doesn't take bookings and every time I have been there you always have to wait about 20minutes or so until a table is free; and that's on weekdays. Can't imagine what the wait would be like in the weekends!<br/><br/>I've been to Kiss Kiss before and have ordered the tofu bao and pad sew - both I highly recommend. Today I went for the shoestring fries which comes with a delicious siracha mayo sauce and the pad Thai with chicken and prawn. The portions at this restaurant are massive  (which I enjoy as I am a big portion kind of girl) so I ended up having some leftovers for lunch the next day. In terms of food, I would definitely give Kiss Kiss a 5. I didn't try any drinks but they have unique flavours that you wouldn't find at your usual joint!<br/><br/>The ambience was unique and fun. The neon lights and almost Palm Beach feel to the restaurant makes you forget you're in Balmoral. I would give that a 5 as well.<br/><br/>Customer service was also fantastic. The waiters are attentive despite the mad rush. My friend got tofu pad sew and the waitress double checked with the kitchen that it truly was tofu without us even asking her. <br/><br/>My only advice would be to make sure you get exactlu what you ordered otherwise you'll end up paying more than you expect. My pad Thai came with a satay sauce on the side. I didn't request it and thought it was part of the meal. At the end I saw I had been charged for it. When the waiter asked me if I wanted both chicken and prawn in my pad Thai I thought it came at no additional price but I was wrong. <br/><br/>I will still definitely go back but I'll just be a bit more weary about hidden additional costs and menu items I didn't ask for. But that's just coming from a girl on a budget!

Creative dining environment which makes u feel like dining in a pub. The decorations are so south eastern style but the staff there are almost kiwi, which was joyful and enjoyable with their excellent services. Highly recommend! And the awesome food as well

Great casual place for some good, large-portioned affordable food. Staff were accommodating for my celiac disease and put extra effort into making sure my meal was gluten free. After a small mix-up (which was arguably more my fault than theirs), they were extremely accommodating and generous. Even though only 2 GF options are available on menu, I would recommend to people looking for a tasty, safe, and understanding place to get gluten free food

Every bit as good as the reviews say! We ordered quite a few things on the menu and all were delicious. The Pad Thai & donuts with custard with my personal favourite. Great atmosphere and amazing service as well. All dishes came out super quick and everyone working was so friendly. Will surely be back :)

I've dined here perhaps 5 times before. Been there with different people, ranging from group of 2, to group of 7. We love the ambience, food and service. Last night, we waited 25 mins before we were seated, which is quite normal as they are usually packed at dinner time. We ordered our favorite pork ribs and deep fried fish immediately. We think those two items are the best on their menu. Usually the food arrives quite quickly. Last night, we waited nearly an hour for our food after being seated, and others around us all had their mains served. My husband said "I'm never coming here again."<br/>We were not told, but can surmise from staff actions then, that our order was not entered into the system. We got our food within a few minutes after our enquiry, which was great. As usual, the food was superb. An even better comeback for Kiss Kiss is that they took some other items off our bill as a compensation for our wait. At the end, the Manager had a chat with me, and admitted to me that they would have to beef up their training. That's understandable, as staff come and go, and they were super busy, which requires staff to be super efficient.<br/>At the end of our conversion, I found myself saying to the Manager "see you next time"!
CrazyCatLady_EmmaC
Great atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Took us a while to find parking and wait for food. We had 12 people for dinner and we all enjoyed our order. Recommend their ice coffee!

Heard so many good reviews about Kiss Kiss so my friend and I came for dinner yesterday. The place was full and we were 6th on the queue. We got seated after 15 mins or so. First impression: friendly staff, super casual vibe, tropical-theme decoration and the lovely pink neon light all over the place 💕 <br/><br/>We ordered 5 dishes: (1) Pork crackling and Jaew sauce, (3) Prawn crackers and sweet chile sauce, (5) Lemongrass fried chicken bun, (13) Som tom salad and (18) Phat Thai Thamadaa with prawns. Personally, I love no.3 and no.18. The Prawn crackers was my favourite snack. The Pad Thai was very delicious and the portion was huge. Also they put peanuts on the side, not mixed it in the noodles, which I appreciate. The others were not that good. The pork crackling was too salty for me, meanwhile, the chicken bun was super bland. I think I like the pickles in the bun more than the chicken. The salad honestly was a less tasty version of Nom Du Du from Sen (Mt.Eden). But, overall very fulfilling meal.

Such amazing food, the buns are delicious and the pad Thai had so much flavour. So many vegan options, and the atmosphere was lovely, quite busy though considering it was a Wednesday. However, some of the staff were a bit unfriendly - but the quick service and amazing food definitely made up for it. Will for sure come back here again!

Went there for dinner during weekday to avoid long queue as they dont take reservation. It's truly a hidden gem in Balmoral. Excellent service huge portion and great taste! We have their fried fish and sticky pork ribs, trust me these two dishes are to die for. Definitely too much for two person, I think these two dishes can easily feed three hungry adults. But their thai milk tea is nt authentic though, taste too bland and sweet like a sweet milk tea. Overall we r really happy for our food and also the price, totally reasonable. Cant wait to go back again!

I looooove Thai food and had been looking forward to come here. The decor is fantastic with typical beach vibes (makes you want to go waterboarding). The staff was friendly and the food was great. The portion size is massive so I would recommend that if you’re not headed there with a big group - watch what you order (unless you have a big appetite, ofc); they do takeaways so that helps.
Sammy D
The whole fried fish was cooked perfectly with a delicious tamarind sauce on the side that was all kinds of yummy - spicy, garlicky and sweet. Loved how the sauce was served in a bag on the side! Very reminiscent of cheap eats in Asia. The chicken bun was ok, a little on the dry side and not as flavoursome as everything else we ordered. The service was good and easy and the vibe buzzy. Great for families

I guess the main reason why people patronize is for the aesthetics ✨ really beautiful interior and set up!<br/><br/>Food wise,<br/>✔️ (25) satay fried rice was pretty yummy! Recommended!<br/>• (18)pad thai was rather mediocre but still tasty<br/>• (4)pork bun was alright, nothing special, probably not worth the price due to the fact it was just one piece<br/>• (23)pork belly curry was quite watery but the meat was still tasty<br/>• lemongrass & lychee lager just tasted like plain beer, definitely disappointing ☹️<br/>• Thai milk tea was definitely not authentic, it looked and tasted like milk<br/>(all seen in pics)<br/>✔️ staffs were really amazing though!<br/><br/>In overall, it was worth the experience but prolly not worth a second time.
Petra Pearce
Always great Thai food, nice and cheap too. The bao are yummy and the pad Thai is really good. Good selection of craft beer and cocktails. It's got a great vibe and is always pumping! Expect a wait for a table but it's worth it!
Lidiyosha
Nice place, good vibes and friendly service! However, food aren’t impressive. I had chicken wings and phad si ew. I’m a huge fan of Thai food, but haven’t enjoyed any of the dishes I’ve ordered. Phad si ew was definitely something different and not what I expected when I placed an order. The main downside was lack of flavour and sauce. Maybe I just picked the wrong dishes of the menu. So I might give this place another try!
HelenMeng2000
Interior is aesthetic but we had to sit outside bc there it was full inside and dont think you can make a reservation. The pork bun was yum, but quite small and probably not worth the price. The curry noodles were okay but the phad si ew was nice.
Shazza
Enjoyed the dinner with mates. Unique atmosphere, reasonable price but delicious food (esp pork ribs). Cannot make reservations but was lucky to get table without any waiting time. For nice cocktail menus, you will have to check the special effect glasses!
Mary Vegan Poppins
Food was nice but not awesome very oily - very easy to make vegan and the staff were super helpful. Main issue was the cutlery was dirty, but they gave us a new basket of cutlery once we pointed it out. Great atmosphere.

Would rate lower if I could. I ordered the Beef Vermicelli salad and received food poisoning that lead me to hospital and missing 3 days of work. A friend of mine's Dad also received food poisoning from here from a pork meal. Wouldn't recommend obviously very low standards of hygiene.
Hope
Service was awesome - food was yummy! The pork bao was a bit dry would have been perfect if it wasn't so tough and chicken bao was yummy too. I had the finger fizz and an Asahi - both good. Overall good food and service especially for what you pay. Would go back.

One of the hippest places in Auckland! Cool atmosphere spices up the amazing food experience! Love the flavors of each dish we ordered! Big portions and are perfect for sharing!

went to kiss kiss after a tiring shift and was immediately cheered up because the staff were so kind and funny. the food was also super delicious, we ordered fried rice and chicken wings and the fried chicken bun. all of it was super satisfying! great vibe and great food Finbar

I've been wanting to go to Kiss Kiss for a very long time and I finally went lastnight. I ordered the Thai milk tea, Thai style pork belly bun & Phat Thai Thamadaa (Phad Thai)<br/><br/>Thai milk tea - This was good! But personally the tea flavor wasn't strong enough. 3/5<br/><br/>Thai style pork belly bun - It was okay, did meet my expectations. Firstly the pork belly was cooked very well! the som tum salad in the bun missed the mark. It was very bland as it did not have the flavors of a som tum salad. This caused the bun to be very heavy to eat as it didn't have the acidity it need to cut the fat from the pork belly. Peanuts would of work really well with the flavors if the salad wasn't a failure. Also didn't get any mint as that would have given the bun the fresh kick it needed. 3/5<br/><br/>Phat Thai Thamadaa (Phad Thai) - The portion size is very generous. The flavours were on point but there was something missing. Just couldn't put my finger on what it was. 2.5/5

been waiting so long to come here!!!!<br/>when we first came there was a 20 minute wait which was fine because we knew it was busy plus it was a saturday night. in the mean time we could look at a cocktail menu through these cool as 90s binoculars that i used to play with when i was a kid haha! the ambience is like a 5/5. it's neon, busy and there's so much going on. i got the ribs to share which were amazing and then i got a lemmy lemonade and chicken noodle curry, not so sure on the curry but the ribs were fab. if i were to come back i'd get ribs and something else.
Charlotte Lucas
Service was friendly but a little disorganised, based on the number of guests; expected. <br/>The food and atmosphere was great, fun twist on the usual pad thai. Highly recommend for big groups.. and cocktails are amazing!

Initially seen some great reviews of this place and who doesn't like Thai food? Been here more than a few times now.<br/><br/>Ambience is pretty cool, you definitely won't see anything else like it around town. Service is your usual standard and due to its popularity there can be a bit of a wait at peak times. <br/><br/>We had the pork crackling, pork belly and chicken buns, sai oua, som tom, Thai style French fries and larb. We also had the coriander cocktail and a "put the lime in the coconut" while we waited, they were ok. Everything was brought out pretty much together in a good time and was delicious. Although I did find the fries to be disappointing as they were just ordinary shoestring fries unless that is what they mean by Thai style but if I knew that then I wouldn't of ordered them. Otherwise not a bad place at all.
Phoenixlovestodine
This place is busy that is why you need to be have patience in waiting if you want dine in a busy night. We waited for almost half an hour for our table. The foods were alright and the service is fine. So much buzz on this place but I just find it common and ordinary.

Great food and awesome service!<br/>Would go back and highly recommended. <br/>If you like asian food, it's an ideal place to go and would also suit people who wouldn't prefer asian food.
Dale
Awesome spot, great vibe and decor. Service was lovely although our server was new and didn't know a what a few things on the menu were. Food wise I was impressed by cost, portions and quality. Had the pork bao, chicken bao, ribs and green mango salad. Salad seemed a bit like it had been prepared earlier and a bit soggy but still enjoyed the flavours. Highly recommend as a cheap, cheerful dinner or lunch

Amazing dining experience! Seriously felt like we were eating in Thailand - place was pumping with people on a Friday night, love the crazy decor (bright colourful lights and trees/foliage to create a unique indoor night atmosphere) we ordered 5 mains and 2 sides for 7 adults - huge portions and the flavours were amazing! Strong so it leaves an impression but not overly so that you need lots of liquid to wash it down. The wet napkins were a nice touch to the plastic plates . Highly recommend the ribs (best in auckland!!!) Fried fish, pad Thai, pork crackling and the rice noodles. After a few drinks we got adventurous and had some crazy candy for dessert ... Would have posted pics of the food but they got devoured in no time.

I can't believe it took me this long to get around to trying Kiss Kiss. They do amazing fusion food and also have a delightfully funky decor. With the famous neon light sign casting a pink light everywhere and fronds and oversized parasols near tables, there's major Miami vibes that make it Instagram and Tumblr worthy.<br/><br/>The wait for a table for two on a Saturday evening wasn't too bad at 20 to 30 mins. There's space near the bar to sit and wait. At the bar, you can view the drinks menu through a retro 90s-esque viewfinder, which is pretty cool.<br/><br/>There were small things that kept the experience back from being truly outstanding. Like many other of the best Asian food places on Dominion Road, there were a few cleanliness issues. I normally wouldn't mind much, but I did expect a step better from Kiss Kiss. There was bits of food still stuck on the menus and on the tablecloth, which would both easily be remedied with a thorough wipe between customers. We also spotted ants on the walls and benches.<br/><br/>However, the food was absolutely glorious. It more than overshadowed those slight annoyances. We got the pork ribs, pad thai with chicken and shoestring fries. Truthfully, this was quite a lot for two and we were stuffed at the end. We probably could have done without the fries.<br/><br/>The ribs are deceptively filling and some of the best in Auckland. Juicy, tender and coated in a sweet soy sauce like glaze, they fell off the bone easily and were delicious. A squirt of lemon really added a bit of piercing zest to the dish which was quite heavy and fatty after a few ribs. I dipped some fries in the sauce at the bottom of the dish afterwards, which was a surprisingly good combo. But perhaps it's testament to how delicious the ribs are. <br/><br/>The pad thai was also a decent sized portion for the price. The bean sprouts were fresh and crispy. I also love it when establishments don't just scramble eggs into a mess of fine drops but kind of fry it like an omelette and then cut up. The result is a chunkier texture that adds to the dish and also soaks some of the dish's flavours into the egg. The noodles were great, and the chilli flakes were to the side so you could mix in as much of a spicy kick as you desired.<br/><br/>Overall, a very hip and funky place with the best pork ribs ever and an outstanding pad thai. It's also really affordable for the food and ambiance you're getting, so it's a win-win for your stomach and wallet.

Second time being here & really enjoyed it..<br/>Kiss kiss has such a cool funky vibe and atmosphere. Food style is Thai fusion. <br/><br/>Food is amazing and comes out super fast..<br/>I would definitely recommend any of the buns (I've had both pork & chicken and really enjoyed both) & the sticky chicken wings. Big portions and great sharing options.. food has amazing flavours to it and it doesn't get overwhelming. Pricing is pretty standard but when you do lots of sharing plates it works out well. <br/><br/>Can't wait to go back 👌🏼👌🏼<br/><br/>

This place has really cool vibes. The neon "kiss kiss" sign really captures the eye. The service is pretty good too. Most of the tables are large and meant to be shared, not my personal favourite table setting. <br/>The dishes are a bit pricy for Asian but since it is fusion we decided to give it a go. Boy am I glad we did. <br/>The food is absolutely delicious, very flavoursome and goes really well with the rice. I forgot exactly what we got but one was a beef curry. <br/>The portions are a little small and it left me wanting more. <br/>Overall, a good place for catch ups and lunch. <br/>

I called to get takeaway which the girl said would be a 25 mins wait, and that's perfect since it takes 25 mins to get there anyway. I ordered the fries with siracha mayo, pork belly bun and pork Larb which came with sticky rice. My totally fave one is the pork belly bun, the flavours just perfect and the pork melts in your mouth. The pork Larb was alright but I've had better from somewhere else, and the sticky rice isn't for me tbh. I would try their other food next time, the ribs and the fish looks really good. The place reminded me of night life in Thailand and their service is quite good. Would definitely come back to actually dine in.<br/><br/>Update: went here for my birthday dinner on Saturday and it was really busy, as you can expect. Food is sooooo good. Definitely my favourite Thai restaurant in town. The buns are good, light and fluffy. The pork larb is so good too! Going back for those ribs and fish next time!

Vibe: Asian fusion, alternative, trendy<br/><br/>Asian fusions cuisine is not normally my first option. However I was convinced to try it with some friends.<br/><br/>Flavours of the dishes are excellent. Food is served very quickly and it is very affordable.<br/><br/>The place is always busy.<br/>

We have been here multiple times with my friends and family. Can't beleive i haven't written a review yet.<br/>I highly recommend:<br/>-Pork bao although chicken bao is pretty good alternative<br/>-Pad Thai<br/>-BBQ ribs (caramelised lil sweet yo)<br/>-Deep fried fish (you got to try this)<br/><br/>Now for my Pros and Cons<br/>Pros:<br/>- Funky Dunky atmosphere<br/>- amazing thai food<br/>- psychotic lighting<br/>- reasonly average pricing<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>- the food can be overwhelming for plain foodies<br/>- you lose colour orientation due lighting<br/>- can be damn busy especially dinner ( but hey it means food is good)
Leo Dilshan
Awesome customer service . This has the Thai streetfood atmosphere from table clothe to plates . Food was good but not the best Thai food I've tried in Auckland . Thai archer has better flavours but still really good food and service .
Simone Mulitalo
The first time I came here I loved everything, the food was good, service was good and loved the shabby thai theme. I recently came back and did not like anything this time. Service was weirdly rude and food was average. The place was empty on a Sunday yet no one came to sear us straight away, instead a waitress walked past us to clear another table, then once we were seatee the same waitress came over and removed our cutlery from our table and took it to another table that had just been seated.

Visited here for dinner tonight. Great ambience and cute decorations throughout the place. I was amazed to see many staff working at the place which was great because every customer was attentively served. I ordered pad thai, curry and fries. My order didnt take more than 15 minutes to be served! Amazing.<br/><br/>Food was delicious. Everything I ordered was good. I expected smaller portion of the food because of its not expensive price but the portion size of the food was very generous. I felt very full after the meal. Price is very good. Only around 16-17$ per main dish. It only came out to be around $40 for the whole bill. I was very happy with the meal and service here<br/><br/>I will definitely visit again to try other menu

Such a cute place for food with friends and family. Beautiful pink lighting and food was very authentic. Cheap for the amount of food you get but delicious

Had a pork belly bun for lunch today, the slow cooked pork belly got very rich flavour inside, but the skin outside was crispy and crunchy, served with fresh slaw, very tasty!!!

Tried this place for dinner, the casual setting is very welcome and neon lighting is cool. Service was good, the staff were friendly. The buns are great here, I tried the chicken one. Definitely will be coming back here again.

Been here twice now, once for brekkie and once for dinner, two different dining feels. <br/><br/>When we came in the morning it was pretty quiet and we got seated straight away but food did take a little while. I got their chicken wrapped egg which was a weird combination of flavours that just seemed to work on the plate. Definitely different from your typical brunch dish but I really enjoyed it. <br/><br/>When we came back for dinner it was a Saturday night and really pumping so there was a bit of a wait for a table for 6. I have to say the seating plan is not super efficient. There's multiple big picnic tables which meant there were a few tables that had groups of 2 or 3 people leaving the other side empty. Anyway this wasn't too much of an issue because their kitchen must have a really efficient system at peak time. Food came out within about 15 mins of ordering and was piping hot. Between 6 people we got 7 dishes and a few rice bowls to share. I highly recommend the pork belly curry and phad si ew! The whole deep fried fish could be missed though as it was overly dry and didn't have very much meat on it. For drinks me and two friends shared a cocktail bucket which was delicious and not overly sweet. <br/><br/>Food: 5/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Instagrammability: 4/5 (cool neon lights but made everything pink!)

Such a cool vibrant place- the food and the setup of the restaurant reminds me of the cool street food markets in northern Thailand. Delicious food and very cool atmosphere

We decided to pop.in after hearing so many good reports and we weren't disappointed 😁 fast friendly service. We sat outside and the beer complemented the food nicely. Fresh and tasty and we will be back!
Angel
Fantastic vibe, great food and customer service! Ordered the whole deep fried snapper, pad thai, pork sticky ribs and pork cracklings to share for a table of 4. Food was magnificent, especially loved the ribs and the tamarind glaze on the snapper. Big portions for sharing too so bang on the buck. Will def be back!
Briana
We came here with a friend visiting Auckland and were not disappointed! We arrived a bit later around 8 and only waited about 5 minutes for a table. It was packed for a Tuesday. We ordered the pork buns, pork ribs, pad Thai and pork belly curry (yes, pork crazy). The ribs were amazing, as as was the curry. The pad Thai was yum, but i think I'd order something else next time, it was a bit safe. Service was a tad slow at the start, but friendly. Planning on coming back next week, can't wait 🙌🏼
Anna
Had dinner here last night, love the decor & set up. Ordered the pork ribs (10/10 recommend), fried fish & two rice for my boyfriend & I. The food is very authentic and well priced for big portion sizes. Food came out quickly and the service was good.

Great spot for a bite of something different, awesome atmosphere and everyone provided great service except one girl who was extremely snooty when we questioned an extra drink which was accidentally added to our bill. Until then we were really impressed!
Kiwi Eats Asia
Yum :) what delicious food! We went as a group of three on a very chilly Friday night (not at all recommended weekday since it was absolutely crazy and packed with people waiting). Luckily (?) there were some seats outside. We regretfully wrapped ourselves up in our coats and scarves and sat down outside in the cold sidewalk ambiance. We ordered three dishes to share - larb, khao soi kai and gaeng hung lay. The gaeng hung lay was the real stand out dish for me - though very rich with the fatty pork belly. It tasted amazing with the coconut rice. The larb was also delicious, especially with the sticky rice - perfect combo. It was quite a small portion though. The khao soi kai was pretty disappointing. It was a bit sickening with very little except for noodles and creamy soup. I wish there were more veges or more of anything else. It was like a strange laksa. We also had the fried chicken gua bao which was pretty good, but a bit expensive for the size. <br/>Service was super friendly which was a bonus. Not the cheapest, but yummy experience all round :)<br/> I went back and tried the whole fried fish of the day (snapper in this case) and wow that was great value - I've never eaten such a cheap whole fish! Even at quick and cheap Chinese restaurants. The flavours were delicious and I would highly recommend it though I think it's a little spicy for some. I was annoyed that they choose to use plastic to hold the sauce as it makes no sense when they could serve it in a small jug instead? Same goes for sticky rice, I think the plastic could be ditched in favour of pandan / banana leaf wrapping. It's be nice to see these popular restaurants setting an example on avoidable waste :)

Have been to kiss kiss four times. Love the vibe and decor, and staff are always very friendly. Would recommend the fried chicken bao, and the curry noodle soup ( AMAZING) and large portion. The mulled wine they have on offer at the moment is yum. Go early ( before 6pm) to avoid a wait.
Bella Qian
Amazing food and amazing service! Had to wait 10 minutes for a table but it was definitely worth it. Had the peach ice tea and lemmy lemonade for drinks and both were so good and the service was fast. The waitress was super nice and great at recommending dishes. You have to try the fried fish it is possibly the best fish you will ever try, the sauce is perfection. Loved how you could add an array of sauces to your dish (I really like the fish sauce with my pad Thai). Downside is you gotta share a table if it is busy and it can be a bit noisy. However the food is amazing and of great value.
Richie Chewy
Fantastic vibe and good value for money too, well exceeded expectations with awesome service ! We only had to wait ten mins before being seated after ordering drinks, Phuket beer and coconut water in actual coconut ! We had the ribs , chicken pad Thai and beef vermicelli which was warm as we thought it would be cold , strange ... it was very generous portions and had to take away the vermicelli despite demolishing the rest which was yummy! Highly recommended with its vibrant atmosphere and good value food ! Also watch out for the bugs candy at the checkout which was interesting haha

Boyfriend took me here as he raved about how good the food was. I have to say I was a bit sceptic as I thought it's just another Asian fusion restaurant. <br/>Nice decor, makes you feel like you are in South East Asia. <br/>We ordered the fried chicken bun, ribs and phad si ew. The most impressed I was with is the sauce with every dish - just hit the spot! Ribs portion was amazing. <br/>Also ordered a lemongrass cocktail, so yum! <br/><br/>Ambience: 4/5<br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5

Great food, Had the Ribs, and chicken wings, and pork belly buns. Enjoyed them all but took some of the ribs home as was a big amount.<br/>The Lemongrass Lyechee Lager is good too :)Enjoyed it all, cost was about $60 for two

The deep fried fish and tamarind sauce is delicious. The bun with chicken was bland. Many options in the menu with pork. Limited options for chicken lovers :). The ambience is great and service excellent.

There are always lots of ppl there. We ordered 8 pork ribs and 10 fried fish. Both of them taste good. The bun is also yummy. It is interesting that there is rarely see Thai ppl in it even the cook is not Thai, but they cook Thai cuisine well.

Seen a few of my friends going to this place and was very keen to try it out. Came here on Sunday arvo with a friend. The atmosphere was quite different. Felt like we weren't even in Auckland. The vibes and decor. Loved it. Service wasn't bad either. Thought they would be packed for a Sunday arvo but that weren't. <br/><br/>I ordered #5 free range lemon grass fried chicken, sriracha mayo, white cabbage and pickled red onion bun to start with - which was very tasty. I love baos/buns! A tad on the pricey side though for one bun only. Normally there's two served on a plate. <br/><br/>Ordered #19 large stir fried rice noodles (pork) for the 'main' and that was yum as well. Only downfall was, that it had far too much MSG in it and oh my life I was thirsty AF. I ended up ordering a whole coconut to rehydrate myself. The coconut was chilled and was SO refreshing. Love every sip of it. Probably needed 5 of those to be honest. <br/><br/>We ended up ordering from the "sweets" menu too. One of each from the menu. The doughnuts served with pandan custard sounded very nice but.. We were actually quite disappointed. Weren't the kind of doughnuts we had in mind. They were more like those Chinese doughnuts that they have for breakfast with congee. There also wasn't enough pandan custard. <br/><br/>The sticky rice and mango? Or was it something else? 🤔 it was also different to what we had imagined. It came in a cup... I didn't like the coconut flakes in it. I duno. Wasn't really a fan of it. It was more like sago than sticky rice to me. <br/><br/>Oh and they also sell crickey lollipops lol. Think I'd only come back for the buns and whole coconuts though 🙄

I have been to Kiss Kiss multiple times since the day it opened, but my last experience really tore down my high opinion of it. I came here with a group of girlfriends just before it started to get really busy, and the hostess told us it would be a 20 minute wait, to which we were happy to wait. But after 45 minutes we were starting to get quite hungry and were ready to have a meal. When we approached the hostess she was incredibly rude, and when I noticed other groups who came in behind us were being seated before us I made a comment to a friend, to which the hostess overheard and became pretty confrontational. I get that working in hospitality can be bad, but you don't need to be one to customers who are patiently waiting. We were then served the dryest pad thai I have ever had. It was a really disappointing experience, as usually I love Kiss Kiss, but don't think I will be returning for a while.<br/>

Food was good and fresh made. Awesome price considering the portions and the taste of it.<br/>Love the open kitchen and the easy design of it. Friendly and helpful stuff made it to a great experience. They defo gone see me soon again ;-)

Best pad thai in Auckland!!!:) my partner enjoyed his pork ribs that he had to order an extra cup of rice. 😂🙈 the feel and ambience of the restaurant is perfect plus the food is relatively cheap. Will definitely go back!

Good food, good ambiance, friendly service.<br/>Enjoyed my dinner today. Will be back <br/><br/>Pork ribs are delicious, bar snacks go really well with drink.

If I am wanting some thai fix. Kiss kiss is the place to be. <br/><br/>With a tad of euro asian fusion. This place still keeps the authentic thai taste of their dishes. <br/><br/>This place gets busy so make sure to be early. <br/><br/>I will recommend getting their snapper! It is served hot and crispy with this salt and sweet gingery sauce. Slowly put it depending to how you would like it. Perfect with jasmine rice! <br/><br/>Their baos are also worth trying! Pork belly is always my go to for it is really soft and tender. The bao tastes so soft as well. <br/><br/>I know I shouldn't be ordering chips from a thai resto but the shoestring with the wasabi mayo was a perfect side to my meal.

What an awesome place! Went with my in laws early and we just managed to get a table. Clearly quite a popular spot but after tasting the food, I understand why. Stands out from its competitors because of its funky decor and friendly service. Definitely have the Kiss Kiss house lager which has lemongrass and lychee in it. We had several sharing plates and absolutely demolished them. Thoroughly enjoyed the beef cold vermicelli noodle dish. It was light and refreshing. The deep fried whole snapper was amazing and I loved the sauce! Wish I could buy that sauce to take home. Skip Barilla and head to Kiss Kiss for some Thai food.

It isn't cheap, and the portions are small. However, it is super fresh ingredients, and traditional flavors, if not entirely traditional dishes(fusion style cooking do they call it?). Modern. You share tables with strangers lol. The staff are super friendly, but the order was wrong, I just about got charged for my drink twice, and the food took forever. The system and the business are most likely the cause. But it was really good food. It is a great place to go if you want to go somewhere fashionable, but not if you are very hungry, on a budget or in a hurry.

We went to kiss kiss on a busy afternoon. The place was packed and we were given an estimate of 30mins wait. The wait was worth it. We ordered some pork crackling Thai Ice Coffee and the Kombucha to start. The crackling was nice. Could of came with vinegar and chilli dipping sauce. But by it self it was okay. The coffee and Kombucha was good. We ordered the chicken wings and sticky rice which was "so goood" it had a sweet coating 👌. Also we got Gaeng Hang Lay. The pork was melt in your mouth soft. And the sauce was "so gooood" 🙌 this is a must try dish. It came with rice that had coconut shards on top. Service was great. Good job kiss kiss. <br/>

Probably the best restaurant in terms of the happy vibe you get here. Floral sheets, pink kiss kiss lighted boards etc make you feel like if you go out of this place you'll land in a cool Asian beach! <br/><br/>I wasn't totally impressed with the food as my chicken wings were too sticky and a noodle dish that we ordered was kind of bland.<br/><br/>I'll come back here for a second chance though as looking at all the other reviews it looks like I ordered the wrong stuff here!

Great place for dates or a quick bite before moving on. Loved the shared table idea, reminds me of street food eating in Asia. Can get busy, but you expect that with popular restaurants. But with a bar offer a good range of drinks and bar snacks the time goes quickly.<br/><br/>Meals once order come fairly quickly and are both hot and fresh.

Have walked in several times and just looked way to busy to want to dine in. Finally ended up coming to try it out with a couple of friends. Lovely set up with great vibes, like a night out in Thailand. Food was delicious with right portion sizes and unique local and fusion flavours. Table service was great, until the front of house decided to shift us over a bit to accommodate for more diners. We had plates that were overflowing and we placed them to the side and she had come back and sat the new diners next to us and rudely picked up our empty plates and dumped them back onto our side which obviously didn't have any more room. Not sure if she was having a bad day or whether it was too busy for her to maintain her professionalism in providing great service. That was a real bummer as everything else on the night was magnificent. The person who we shared the feedback to at the till attempted to compensate by giving us a voucher, nice gesture there and appreciated but when it comes down to service - you just gotta get that on lock down. Overall, great quality food, surrounded by great friends on the table, with a tiny hiccup making us feel slightly awkward by that one person providing us below average service. Thanks for a memorable night.

UPDATE: came here at 9:15pm on a Saturday before Christmas Eve for a late dinner. We got the chicken and pork belly bun, ribs and som yum salad. <br/><br/>Buns were divine as usual; fluffy buns with well-flavoured Caramelised pork and crispy chicken. The ribs did not disappoint! Giant plate of ribs which we didn’t even finish! Flavour-wise was definitely there; Caramelised and crispy, but some parts were a little over crisp and a bit burnt. <br/><br/>Salad was good! Refreshingly sour and a hint of spice. Love the peanuts and portions were huge! Didn’t quite finish this either but loved it! Service amazing yet again and they were dancing towards the end of the night because tis a season to be jolly right?! <br/><br/>OLD:<br/>Service was really good! The buns were really good too! But I'm afraid the Kai-Lan and the pork belly curry was waaayyyyy too salty, it honestly tasted like they put salt in once, then forgot they put salt in already and then dumped another tablespoon full of salt. <br/>Might be back for the buns but will pass on everything else.

Fun environment with good food and drinks. The staff were a bit slow to take our order or check on us but when they did finally come to take our order (after we spent 10 minutes waving someone down) they were quick to run through what was gluten free. Gluten Free items are listed on the menu but I always double check when ordering. The meals then came out. We ordered two mains and a starter. It was way too much for two people but the staff were happy to provide a takeaway box at the end of the night. All in all I would go back.

Had a fantastic time stuffing my face and the people were super nice, especially the lady with the toucan pin, you're fantastic 🌻<br/>Definitely telling everyone about those donuts and the amazing themed decor

As soon as you walk in, you will notice the eclectic and relaxed vibe of the place. Communal tables, neon lights, a disco ball in the restrooms etc. The staff was attentive, and the food was just off the charts. Try the khao soi kai, and get the sticky rice for dessert.
Karen
Great value and food came very quickly. Good service. <br/><br/>Sharing between 3 people, we each got a bun and ordered the pork ribs and Phat Thai. <br/><br/>I had the lemongrass chicken bun which was delicious. The chicken was yum and the spicy sauce was a great kick. <br/><br/>The ribs were good but wasn't packed with as much flavour as I expected. It was a really decent portion for its price though. <br/><br/>The Phat Thai is a bit different to the Pad Thai that I'm used to. It has a thin noodle base and does not have as much of the usual tangy flavour that I like. Still a good dish but a matter of personal preference. <br/><br/>Overall favourite is the bun.<br/><br/>Also had the Thai milk tea which was great for a hot summer evening.

The food at kiss kiss is definitely unique. And as much as I hate to admit it, the food is worth every cent. The people have always been friendly. I have yet to order a dish that didn't taste unique and tasty. I recommend their pork and chicken buns.

Fantastic quick meal out on a weeknight! Cheap and cheerful, great atmosphere, and plenty of friendly staff so food came super quick! The chicken bun and the pork buns were lovely. Meat was cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavours. The ribs were enjoyed as well, they were so tender and had a yummy marinade. We took the leftovers home for lunch the next day! The vermicelli beef salad was generous and had a little kick in the sauce, but the fresh and clean flavours balanced well and left us very satisfied (with slightly tingly lips!) Like I said, service was fast and friendly, even on a super busy Thursday with people waiting for tables. Kiss kiss exceeded my expectations for a yummy, fresh, good value, quick dinner, and I'll definitely be back here again.
Nicole Jana
Kiss kiss is awesome! Love the vibe here, can be a tad tricky trying to get a table as they dont take any bookings, first come first served. I can definitely say the wait is worth it! The pad thai chicken was delish!

Such a nice place, quality food that make you feel you are in Thailand.<br/>Mango sticky rice was awesome!!<br/>Loved the atmosphere of the place too.

Loveeed the vibe of this place<br/>From the plastic floral table sheets to the led kiss kiss sign and the way you guys let us view your cocktail list ! So awesome<br/>They are a brunch place in the day and it turns into an asian cuisine restaurant by night<br/>We were pleasantly suprised with our food<br/>Ordered Phad Si Ew which was really good! Thought phas thai we can get anywhere else so asked the kind waitor was another suggestion. The buns were good but not amazing-pork belly was our favourite<br/>Quantity was just perfect<br/>Also enjoyed the shared cocktail in the bucket!<br/>There is street parking around the place which also makes parking convenient <br/>Will definitely come back

My friends and I went to this restaurant last week. When I entered it and I found it didn't unlike other thai restaurants of New Zealand. I like its environment and atmosphere. Food is not very impressive but service is great.
Z.
It is an amazing space (with some amazing pop art going on), the staff were super lovely and the food came out pretty fast. Plus I was pretty ecstatic seeing them bottles of (the hen) Sriracha.  <br/><br/>I had the glass noodles with the satay sauce and my friend had the crispy rice salad. While the flavors were good, the only problem I had with mine was that there was way too many crushed peanuts in there and not enough noodle. It was as if the peanuts became the base of the meal and not the glass noodles. So it would be nice if the peanuts were placed on the side for people to sprinkle as they please. <br/><br/>But would probably go again because the vibe was so good.
Tastebud Tingles
Awesome staff, big portions, decent food and a relaxed South East Asian vibe about the place.<br/><br/>Loved and can recommend the whole coconut juice - super refreshing on a hot summers day and you get to spoon out the flesh too. Tofu glass noodle salad - not much to complain about it as it was tasty and peanutty in every way expected.

Our first dinner attempt incurred queues so I returned to Kiss Kiss on my lonesome to make sure I got a sample of their food offering. This time in breakfast form. Super contemporary Asian-styled fusion menu across all times of the day, lots of curious things on offer. I had the rum and orange-soaked brioche french toast ($16.90) served with banana and Dulce de Leche. Huge serve with delicate, tropical flavours. Plenty yum enough to want to come back for a dinner round.

Finally got to eat here on our second attempt, first time they said 30 min wait for a table so went down the street instead because I was too hungry to wait. This place is busy so either go early in the evening or be prepared to wait. But I can't fault the service once you are seated. There was barely 5-10 min between ordering and the food coming out, despite the number of customers in the place.<br/><br/>Pork belly bun was nice (if you've eaten at their other store, Chinoiserie, you'll notice the similarities), a hint more spice/heat would make it better so I added some sriracha to the bun. The tofu larb was nicely seasoned and if you're a meat eater then you wouldn't even notice the lack of animal protein in the dish. My favourite was the Neua Naam Took, a nice fresh, light taste with plenty of mint and coriander (again maybe a touch more chili would make it better).
Chris Ruscoe
We walked into a packed restaurant with plenty of staff and a fantastic atmosphere. Big green tick. However, that's where it went downhill.<br/><br/>To start, we ordered pork crackling. For $5.00, I was eagerly awaiting a bowl of delicious, crispy crackling, homemade of course given that there was so much pork belly on the menu. However, we received crackling straight out of a pack that clearly had been open for too long as it was soft and horrible. Damn. To the staff's credit, they replaced it with a fresh batch and were very apologetic. Redeeming for sure, but I'd be reluctant to pay for that again given I buy large packs of crackling for $1.50 from Tai Ping.<br/><br/>On to the pork belly bao (bun). The pork belly was dry and the bun was crying out for sauce and some pickled vegetables (the som tum salad in the bun did nothing for me). Not a pleasant eating experience and the pork wasn't given the love it deserved.<br/><br/>Finally, we ordered Gaeng Hang Lay (pork belly curry) and Pad Thai. The curry was incredibly fragrant and delicious. I could have sat in a bath of it, it was that good. The pork was melty and flavoursome and the heat from the ginger sat beautifully in the background. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, the Pad Thai (or Phat Thai Thamadaa on the menu) was excruciatingly awful. Dry, bitter, too much tamarind, overcooked chicken (rubbery) and remnants of char from the wok which tasted what I would imagine licking burnt toast tastes like. I've seen a few comments from other reviews with similar comments which is disappointing.<br/><br/>There was one last thing which I found irritating. The tables have bottles of Huy Fong Foods Sriracha sauce (i.e. from California) to use with your food, however, the staff have clearly refilled these bottles with the generic Thai Sriracha sauce. Although I like both varieties, I don't think Huy Fong would be too happy with Kiss Kiss refilling their bottles with the other Sriracha. It could be likened to filling up a bottle of Heinz Ketchup with Watties Tomato Sauce (or the other way around). Perhaps an innocent mistake or a cost-cutting exercise, I don't know, but it's not good.<br/><br/>Although I really enjoyed the great service, overall Kiss Kiss missed the mark by a mile for me.

I went to Kiss Kiss for a meal last night.  The cheap and cheerful environment was perfectly acceptable to me but the food was not.  I ordered Neua Naam Tok and left half of it on the plate uneaten.  I could detect no hint of fresh mint, coriander or birds eye chillies....the dish had a strangely brown look with no specific flavours detectable.  What a disappointment!!!
Miura Elikana
I enjoyed this place. There's a good vibe with the chirpy music in the background and the tropical decor. It has a calming, relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the Gaeng Hang Lay which is a pork belly curry that's quite fragrant. Very hearty. It comes with jasmine rice which is decorated with sliced almonds 👌🏾. My friend ordered the sticky rice and mango for dessert which was very rich but delicious. It's an ideal spot for groups of friends to catch up or big families.

Good atmosphere. Love the interior but feel like it kinda struggles to find its them...Island paradise? Asian? Idk. Food was not too bad. Flavours are they except the food that my friends and I had were way too over seasoned/salty. This place is definitely not the place to come if you want authentic asian food. Menu is pretty much designed for Caucasian people.
Nathalie
Great place, very spacious really chilled vibe. Staff were nice and friendly we were seated right away. Thai menu, we ordered pad thai, fried chicken bao, pork and rice, fries and mango dessert. Overall flavours were pretty average to be honest (not that authentic) but the price is very affordable (compared to similar hipster places) and decent serving size and food came out super fast. It's a great place to get together with friends and easy parking across the road, best to come early as they do get packed!
Hello Food
pretty average. food is tasteless and doesnt hv the<br/> wow effect.....apart from that, staffs were very friendly tho. the atmosphere was pretty good.<br/>

Cute place with nice food 👍<br/>Really enjoyed beef mint coriander salad. Beef curry was too salty. We keep adding water to it. <br/>But overall not bad. <br/>Must have sticky rice with the dishes! <br/>

About time there was a cool place like this on dominion rd. They live up to their reputation with great service and amazing food. I love the retro decor and little knick knacks as well that give it a funky vibe. Great place for a sat nite group outing or casual week night dinner.

If you haven’t been to Kiss Kiss, it’s worth a visit. Walking in it feels similar to a small overseas food court with large tables to share with strangers. The interior is very hip and on trend – love the wall art, bright floral table cloths and neon lights. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night, and we were told there would be a 20 minute wait. The dinner menu has some interesting options at reasonable prices. We ordered the fried tofu bun, thai style fries and the pad thai thamadaa. The bun was delicious. The fried tofu was smothered in satay sauce surrounded by a soft and fluffy bun – yum. The pad thai was well portioned and really tasty. We were hoping the fries would be something a little different with ‘thai style’ in the title, but they were just standard fries. Thumbs up to the sriracha sauce though.<br/> <br/>The service is pretty good considering how busy they are. The staff are friendly and easy going. There is a great vibe to this place and it ticks a lot of boxes. Will be back to try their breakfast menu. Keep up the good work guys!

Dined last night with friends, my first time..food was amazing the stand out was the buns!!!!!!<br/>Going today for takeaway buns to show off to family, great service and its a good sign when the restaurant is full

Love the ambience at Kiss Kiss. Large neon signs, pop art and splashes of colour everywhere...very unlike the muted monochromatic palette of Auckland. The cocktail menu is very funky. I won't disclose more...just look out for the view master on your table :)<br/><br/>We ordered the thai chicken wings, phad se ew and thai fried rice along with a kombucha and a beer. The thai style wings were the highlight of my experience here. It was crispy, juicy, sticky with the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Definitely will come back to eat more. The noodles and rice dishes were good too, though I wouldn't say it blew my mind.<br/><br/>I feel kiss kiss would be a great place for friday night drinks. <br/><br/>Meal for two with 1 shared plate + 2 mains + 2 drinks = $60

Proprietors of Chinoiserie and L’Oeuf, Celeste Thornley and brothers Jasper and Ludo Maignot’s newest venture is Kiss Kiss in Balmoral. Modeled on a Chiang Mai style dining hall, the decor is pink, eclectic and like nothing else in Auckland. Street food is what’s on offer here and patrons sit at long communal tables sampling the Northern Thai inspired dishes.Floral vinyl tablecloths line the tables and fluorescent lighting adorns the walls with novelty viewfinders available at the tables to view the cocktail menus.

Well priced, Great falvours, innovative and not your typical thai place. <br/>everything is great.Have tried the pad thai, rice salad, pork curry, larb, curry soup thing, cinammon brioche and never been disappointed. <br/>I Do not understand though but your lunch is more expensive than mains at dinner. <br/>I prefer to go for dinner. <br/>Awesome place.

Lives up to the hype, just like its sister restaurants there isnt much you can fault with the breakfast at Kiss Kiss. The staff are all really friendly and chatty, the coffee is good, the lychee beer cold and delicious, and the deep fried scotch egg is the shiz. If you dont like coriander as many of you out there dont, make sure you ask if your dish has it first! Otherwise youll be that one sad friend at the table of four others enjoying there plates of treats :D <br/>The creamed purple rice with coconut and candied sugar is a sensationally good finish...

Great new fusion restaurant giving Dominion Road a bit of diversity. Fantastic service and decor, a really funky place! Fresh, fast food full of flavour. The sticky chicken nibbles and noodles were a hit for me. My favourite thing however, was the presentation of the cocktails, throwback down memory lane.

Came here on Sunday with my 3 brothers for lunch. Immediately impressed with the quick service and tables were spotless. Bench type seats so plenty of room between tables. Food was delicious and generous servings in big bowls and plates. This is new Thai fusion Cafe having only been open 6 months in the old rock shop in Balmoral. Western menus were easy to read and understand what you were going to eat . Children friendly and lots of people there and not just Asians which frequently visit Balmoral. Kiss kiss certainly gets my vote and we will be back.

After hearing the owners of 'Chinoiserie' and 'Loeuf' had opened a new Asian-fusion eatery, I couldn't wait to check it out and finally managed to come here for dinner tonight! <br/><br/>'Kiss kiss' is Asian-fusion but with a focus on Thai cuisine, showcasing a few different northern Thai dishes too like larb Gai. We ordered the pork belly bun, fried chicken bun, pad Thai noodles, thai fries and the donuts with pandan custard. I really wanted to LOVE everything but the only things that really stood out were the buns and the Thai fries. The pork belly bun was best, had a great punchy flavour and the pork belly fat was crispy too. The fries were thin shoestring ones with a fishy-flavoured salt on it, sounds weird but worked so well and really made normal fries taste amazing!! The pad Thai was average and didn't taste very authentic. It had a strong savoury, charred taste from the wok and was missing sugar. I like my pad Thai a bit sweet and saucy, this one was very dry. I had to add fish sauce and sirracha so that I could actually enjoy it. The donuts weren't very nice either, the pandan custard was interesting and creative but this desert just didn't work for me. <br/><br/>I really love what they've done with the place and the atmosphere they have created. It has a hipster vibe to it, similar to the Asian eateries in ponsonby, but more down to earth. The staff are also super friendly and the food is fairly priced and came out quickly. However I feel they can still improve on the taste of some of their dishes. Id love to come back and try the Khao soi, northern Thai sausage and the whole deep fried snapper.

Wow! This place is great! Cool decor, good service and yummy food. <br/>Fried chicken bun- 4/5<br/>Pork belly bun- 3.5/5<br/>Ribs- 4.5/5<br/>Pulled beef vermicile salad- 3/5<br/>Definitely coming back to try the chicken wings. If you're in the neighbourhood, you should definitely check this place out :)<br/>

Awesome decor, cool View master cocktail menu and fantastic food! Haven't tried day menu but the ribs, chicken wings and doughnuts were amazing! Loving the fake palmtrees and vinyl tablecloths!

Great atmosphere and wait people. <br/>My pork belly was quite good. While friend's Thai fish cake just good. It just wasn't quite punchy enough for my taste buds. $20 a dish is getting up there. <br/><br/>I guess once you've been to Chinoiserie - with which this place has much the same ambience! - the bar really is raised 😊.<br/><br/>So maybe worth a try but wouldn't go again.<br/>And I didn't try any of their cakes and other desserts which do look tempting.

I really like the flavour of the food we had here and it was rather easy on the wallet too. <br/>The cheeky Thai road side deco plus old school benches and table seems to be the way fusion restaurants are going these days. <br/>There was ample of space but on a Friday night it's packed already at 620. As the seating arrangement was on those long bench and table we pretty much shared a table with someone else and that was a let down due to the lack of privacy. <br/>We had the pad Thai the ribs and the lemon grass chicken bun. <br/>Absolutely love the pad Thai it was on point! My mrs said it tasted just eating on side of the street in Thailand! <br/>The pork ribs are to die for and the portion was very generous! It's cooked well and most parts kinda just melts in your mouth. The sweetness of the pork goes well with the spicy fish sauce that comes with the dish. <br/>The bun was ok, I feel like the ones in chinisorie (mt Albert) was better. <br/>There is a lot more on the menu that I would love to try. Only spending $58 on food plus 2 beer is very good considering I was too full to drink anymore beer! Would def come back again

I love this place, there is so much flavour in everything I have eaten here. There service is very proffessional and everyone is actually working when you walk in even if there are only a couple of punters. The feeling of staff being busy means business...literally

Dined here last night. First impressions were great, lovely waitresses who came and told us where to sit. Once seated were handed menus to figure out what to eat. Not that easy, let me tell you! I had read so much about the cocktails, yet the drinks menu didn't include them. When I asked the waitress, she said she would get a use a couple of menus. They turned out to be viewfinders with a different cocktail on each slide! Very cool. We decided on a cocktail each, pork crackling, two buns (fried chicken and pork belly), pad si ew and a vermicelli pulled beef salad. The cocktails were had great Asian flavours and very refreshing. The pork crackling was ok, was expecting something better. The buns were phenomenal with all the flavours complimenting each other perfectly. The two noodle dishes were great as well bursting with flavours and filling us up very nicely.<br/>I will be back to try more of their menu!

Again another hipster asian places that is doing well in Auckland. The crispy chicken bun could do with a bit more heat and salt but not bad. The bun was a bit too thick for my liking though. The ribs and pad Thai was typical. The pork belly curry was also more like a stewed pork belly instead. Overall not enough heat for the south East Asian flavours to be authentic and pack a punch for me
Elena Ching
Delicious street Thai food with punchy flavours and plenty of character to boot. Love the retro theme with the wall murals, decor and drinks menu in a view master.<br/><br/>Came here for a casual dinner with friends on a weekday night and they packed out pretty quickly. Overall great service and food in a relaxed atmosphere for a decent price.<br/><br/>Thai Style Sticky Chicken Wings - deep fried crispy and coated in sticky goodness, these were a great appetiser to start our meal.<br/><br/>Larb rice dish - this was packed full of flavour and spice. It was quite spicy though so if you can't handle heat this may not be for you. <br/><br/>Neua Naam Tok - this was my favourite dish of the day. It was very fresh and I couldn't get enough of it. Beef was tender and the dressing for the salad was on point.<br/><br/>Pad Thai - wouldn't say this was the best Pad Thai I've had but it was decent. Felt like it was missing something.<br/><br/>Between the three of us we were completely stuffed with the dishes we had and the sticky rice. They also had the usual Thai condiments which was great. The cocktail menu is original and has Asian flavours. We tried the Kiss Kiss cocktail which was pleasant but a bit weak on the alcohol.

WOW . After hearing rave reviews my friend and I decided to try this place for dinner. Loved the atmosphere when we came in. Wasnt too formal just real laxed out and a cool vibe. Our waitress was Aroha she was amazing , she always checked in on us , told us the most popular dishes, told us what the good beers were and shared a few laughs also. She was real detailed and thorough and actually made the experience even more enjoyable. The Chicken wings were so yummy. Such a good amount for a affordable price. The Tom Yum was so GOOD. Warmed us up on a Cold Winter night. My favourite and highlight was the Sticky rice and Mango Pudding, i would come back again for just for that over amd over. Ill be back with my family. Thanks heaps team 😍😍😍

7 of us had dinner there last night<br/>All very much enjoyed it<br/>Slightly off beat tables and benches add to the experience<br/>The service was excellent on a very busy night<br/>The food was outstanding in all cases<br/>My Larb Kua Muu (pork mince) was delicious<br/>The sticky rice that came with it not so much<br/>The others loved their Phat Thais Tom Yum Gaeng Hang Lay and Khao Soi Kai<br/>Nice beer choices<br/>We will be back

I went to kiss kiss for lunch with mum on a weekday, and i was rather disappointed. I guess after all the hype about the new thai place on dominion road, i was so excited to try the food. <br/><br/>I ordered larb moo (pork) with sticky rice and and extra sunny side up, while mum had the tom yum soup with jasmine rice. I found the larb really oily, and it had way too much lemon grass for my liking, I actually had to pull out quite a few strings of hard lemon grass. Apart from that I thought it was quite bland, not enough fish sauce, sugar, lemon/lime and coriander. I think larb should be fresh and simple when it's done well. Although i love that you can taste the roasted ground rice which is one of the key ingredient of larb. <br/><br/>The sticky rice was placed in a plastic bag i side a bamboo basket, but i had a suspicion that it was a reheated in a microwave and not in a steamer, because once it goes cold, it was solid hard. Growing up in an asian house hold and after working in a thai restaurant kitchen for 4 years, i am pretty sure that steamed (even if it was reheated) sticky rice would not be that hard. <br/><br/>Mum's tom yum gai (chicken) was also very bland, apart from the fact that it was very sour. There should be a nice balance between the sweetness and the sourness in the soup, and unfortunately it was lacking in this case.<br/><br/>The service however was great! The staff were friendly and the coffee was awesome! <br/>Would i go back for food? Probably not, but I would probably go back for coffee

Love the decor of this place!!!! Super spacious, funky murals, indoor plants and umbrellas! It's like a vacation resort. <br/><br/>Came here for brunch and O M G. It was delicious!!!!! Thai fusion so expect some unique menu. I had the Thai fishcake with Sriracha hollandaise sauce. Also comes with salad that had amazing dressing. Others got the pork belly beans, crispy rice (which is what I'll eat next :p) and something with coriander pesto yum! <br/><br/>Also had a Thai coffee which I was a bit disappointed with. Tasted like normal ice milky coffee with tiny bits of condense milk. Meh. Bring out the Thai iced tea next, which they currently don't have. <br/><br/>Also go check out their cocktail menu, which is in a view master. How old school is that!!! Have to try dinner one night, but menu seems more like normal Thai then.

One word - AMAZING. We had the Larb Moo & the Bangkok Filled Roll (Pork). The flavours were unmatched. The food was presented beautifully and the it was like an explosion of flavours in every mouthful. The ambience was different - no what one would usually expect from a Thai restaurant. Very fresh! <br/><br/>Loved the way the cocktail menu is presented! But didn't fancy the drinks much. Ordered a Lost Jungle and a Ginger Fizz. <br/><br/>Blow away by the food. Completely! Will definitely be back.

Wow! This place is awesome! I saw a few of my fellow Instagram friends dine here so we came here lunch time on a Saturday. <br/>It was fairly busy, but not completely full. <br/>They have a breakfast/brunch type of menu lunch time so if you are wanting curries it may be best to go for dinner.<br/>We ordered the larb and crispy rice salad with homemade thai sausage.<br/>I was very surprised at the flavour punch when I tried these dishes! They are so full of flavour using fresh ingredients. If you like bold, strong flavours then you will love this place.<br/>The crispy rice salad was probably the most creative dish I have had for a while. I am nit sure how they crispified the rice but I suspect that the rice was formed into balls, deep fried and the smashed up to become a salad. The sausage was not quite what I expected. I was expecting a whole piece of sausage but it came sliced up which did not disapoint. <br/>I lucked out on the Pandan charcoal pastry -I saw it when I came in and should have ordered it straight away. Oh well I now have more than 1 reason to return.

Being back for a few weeks now, its been great to see the change in the Auckland food scene. I should probably look at getting some work soon, but in the mean time its been a good excuse to eat out and fill my belly for breakfast, lunch and dinner at all these chic places. Last weekends lunch excuse: Kiss Kiss

Great staff and atmosphere! <br/><br/>We ordered the full coconut and a bucket of alcohol... <br/><br/>That bucket was so small but was the most expensive item on our table which was absolutely ridiculous.<br/><br/>We ordered Pad Thai (one of the best) with a massive Satay Sauce dip, Green Chicken Curry w/ rice and...
Ridad
We went here after seeing all the hype on Zomato and I really don't see what it's about. We had the beef salad, soup and chicken curry and they were all just ok. I really didn't enjoy the soup. The saving grace were the chicken wings which was really good and the mango sticky rice.
❤️Irene
My partner and I came for dinner last night We ordered chicken wing as starter, Pad Thai and Tom Yum Gai as main dish and mango sticky rice for dessert. The cuisine are delightful. We are looking forward to visit again!
Melissa
Came here when it first opened not really knowing what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered around 9 things on the menu and they were all quite tasty! Some things were a bit spicy but not so much that I couldn't handle it. I personally enjoyed everything but the others I went with didn't so it depends on your taste buds 😁 <br/><br/>Would recommend giving this place a go if you want to try some Laos/Thai food :)

The Auckland epic food scene has been slowly branching out in their flavour profiles, serving up not just the typical eggs bene and pancakes, but exotic international flavours like korean gochujang and vietnamese pho (that’s “fuh” to those who want the right lingo). The Huskies took to a Thai-fusion café in Balmoral, and after hearing that the owners also produced Metro stars the L’Oeuf café and Chinoiserie, it was hard to not have high expectations. <br/><br/>We were greeted by a grinning waitress, long communal tables, pink neon lights and palm trees aplenty. All of us (except for Emilie) were woo’d by the Scotch Eggs (wrapped in free-range chicken mince and kaffir lime) and we were not disappointed. The running yolk served with the sourdough and coriander pesto was a slam to the senses - you won’t find anything else like it. The staff also showed us the cocktails menu, cleverly encased in bright-blue Viewmasters — have a peek even if you’re not ordering any, it’s holds a good laugh or two inside. Give us more, Kisskiss!<br/><br/>Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/kiss-kiss

Loved the laid back atmosphere of the place. Great place for a casual catch up with friends and ideal for sharing with a group of about 8ppl. The food was excellent, especially the larb, the wings and ribs! Great choice of cocktails as well. Will definitely be back again soon!

Good food and fun atmosphere. The food lacked the freshness and heat expected from Thai food. We ordered the curry noodle soup, pork sausage salad and pork belly curry. Both were pretty good but lacking a wee bit of punch. Service was good too. Will come back again but not rushing to.

Dinner for 4 tonight. Place was pumping with every seat taken. 15min wait for a table was well worth it. I can see why it is so busy. Food was all delicious. Tried chicken wings, pad thai, chicken curry, whole deep fried fish, fried rice. Flavours all tasted authentic. Food service was excellent and reasonably quick. Drink service was a little muddled but not too bad. Cool vibe in the room. Fun eclectic decor. Best of all very well priced. $45 per head with a bottle of wine and drinks. I'll be back

Thai restaurant meets Dennys. It's okay, not mind blowing. Good atmosphere if you like sitting next to strangers. Good value for the food but the alcohol will sting ya. Funny watching others viewfinder their drinks. Doughnuts need the sugar/cinnamon coating, green custard is odd. Appreciated, however, the friendly service 😊

New kid on the block, Kiss Kiss takes over the old Drum City space; serving Thai street food for modest prices in an extremely spacious spot.<br/><br/>The Pad Thai cooked in pork fat served with nuts and chilli flakes is such an explosion of flavour. It's definitely the safe and delicious option. <br/><br/>Khao Soi Kai is a nice blend of noodles with a creamy curry and has an interesting blend of flavours served on a side plate. <br/><br/>Do give it a go 😊

These guys are good. Really good! And the service is friendly too. Ribs are soooo great. Donuts and green custard is weird but also great! So glad this place is here its perfect.

This place is so hype right now, and understandably so! It was so packed a couple of Wednesdays ago that it was a 1/2 hour wait to be seated so we took our hungry selves off for a greasy Barilla feed instead. <br/>Today we came back for a try at brunch and I'm so glad we did. We got 2 coffees, a mango lassi, the scotch egg, thai fish cake with poached egg + sriracha hollandaise(!), and the curried pork belly baked beans. Everything was a winner but the beans are one of those truly special dishes that will be hard not to order each time I'm back. Also of note - the decor is SO kitsch and fun, and to the blonde waitress with the stripy top you are awesome we all wished you were our friend IRL. <br/>If you go, maybe go for brunch or aim for before or after the dinner rush. Whatever you do make sure that you go!<br/> AMENDMENT - Came for like the 3rd time for brunch the other day. This place is consistently epic. Additional things I have tried now are the crispy rice salad (huge, fragrant and delish) and the choc banana milkshake (very dark choc flavour and real banana texture in there). NEVER CHANGE YOU GUYS, NEVER CHANGE.

"When in doubt, cut up a pig - that was the town's motto." Harry, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.<br/><br/>Sunday 7pm <br/>2 diners <br/>Khao Soi Gai, Larb Kua Moo, Som Tum salad <br/>Relaxed and friendly service <br/>Would come back for the Khao Soi Gai, especially due to affordability <br/><br/>Food: In an unusual break from tradition, I didn't have any pig when I ate at Kiss Kiss. We got the much anticipated Khao Soi Gai (no. 8) and the Larb Kua Moo (no. 10, with the optional addition of Som Tum salad). Everything was really lovely. The Khao Soi was splendid - the combination of warm curry and silky noodles is so comforting and the crunch of the crispy noodles is so satisfying. I firmly believe that all things can be improved by the addition of crispy noodles (I ran through a few hypothetical dishes in my head after writing this and the fact remains, literally everything can be improved by the addition of crispy noodles - including, and perhaps especially, cake). The chicken in the Khao Soi was nicely done. It comes in a whole segment so be prepared to get involved. Interactive eating y'all. The Larb was one of the best I've had (without detracting from this praise, I just want to say that I haven't had that many). The flavours were full and the ratios were spot on. There are better (or perhaps, more complex) Som Tum salads around, but this one was quite a nice complement to the Larb. Oh also, the portion sizes were very appropriate for both the stomach and the cost. <br/><br/>Service/Timing/Atmosphere: Perhaps somewhat foolishly my first visit to Kiss Kiss was at around 8pm on a Saturday night, with six ravenous stomachs in tow. The atmosphere was great and the staff seemed relaxed despite the fact that they had a full house and several groups waiting. The waitress, wonderfully bubbly and appropriately apologetic, told us that the wait would be around 30 to 40 minutes. Unfortunately we simply couldn't bear it. If you absolutely must go on a Saturday, either go in anticipation of being hungry or ready to wait it out. You may not encounter a wait, but if you do you don't want to risk getting hangry. It never makes for pleasant dining. <br/><br/>Determined to eat here and in the mood for Khao Soi, I went back on a Sunday night at around 7pm. The atmosphere was totally different but just as pleasant. It was surprisingly quiet, even for a Sunday and this may account for the incredible speed with which we got our mains. Microwave meals circa 1998 were never that quick, and they sure as hell were never that tasty. Retrospectively, I wish I'd made more of a big deal about how impressed I was - because I was, and still am, really impressed and grateful. I find fast service immensely satisfying. Alas, I was far too excited about my Khao Soi. I'm sure it exists on other menu's in Auckland, but I haven't come across it until now so I feel as though I have been waiting an immeasurably (five years) long time for this dish.<br/><br/>Final: The wine was very nice. The service was very friendly and relaxed. The viewfinder was a sweet and nostalgic touch. If I hadn't pigged out on the Khao Soi, I'm confident the sticky rice would have been an excellent complement. <br/><br/>I'll be back for the Khao Soi.

Visited kiss kiss for dinner. Loved the retro fit out, good open space and lighting. Ordered the deep fried snapper, it was so damn good I finished the whole snapper by myself. Will def go again, all round experience was chill & enjoyable.

I was so excited to hear about this place opening up! We have had the pleasure of experiencing Kiss Kiss for dinner and brunch and both were outstanding. The decor in here is amazing - I love the pink walls and how they have the fluorescent lights and table cloths to transform from day to night. I have been put off Thai lately after too many BYO dinners but my love has been reignited with their dinner menu. A must try is the Thai sausage for the starter - I would eat this every day if I could. The breakfast menu has infused Thai flavours with breakfast and this is also outstanding. Thai fish cakes and the pork bun are our favourites at the moment. The boyfriend has announced this is his new fave and that is a compliment in its own! Once the payment system is sorted this place will be a definite 5/5. We are so lucky to have another amazing eatery by this team so close to home! Thanks guys 😘
Lee
This place is awesome- friendly staff who were great at helping us through the menu, nice atmosphere and such good food. We went for lunch and the thai fish cakes are the best I've ever had. I also recommend having one of their beers with a meal! Will definitely be back
Lisa
Pork-belly curry = 4/5. Get the pork belly. $16 and Melts in your mouth! <br/>The Pad Thai was pretty outstanding, but there's better out there. <br/>Great prices for good portions.<br/>Decor was cheap, borderline tacky. Service was actually pretty good considering how over crowded it was. The line for paying up was disorganised and took 10 minutes! Big turn off.<br/><br/><br/>

We live around the corner from Kiss Kiss and Sunday night was the second time we've been in a month. The place has an awesome vibe / atmosphere which makes dining there an experience. The starters are fantastic - I recommend the Thai sausage and the ribs. Both times I've been I've found the mains...

This place could have been transported directly from any Sth East Asian city, it's that legit.  They have View Masters at each table, VIEW MASTERS!!! The interior looks like it's been decked out by PARA Rubber, cheap, cheerful and psychedelic! <br/><br/>My partner and I had broken up a week earlier and we picked Kiss Kiss to meet up and talk about things.  It was slightly awkward as you'd expect.<br/>What wasn't awkward was the food, AMAZING!! I'll be telling my grand kids about the pork ribs, the Pad Thai was a stunner, the Pork Belly was tasty, (when is Pork Belly not tasty? Honestly, you've got to go a long way to screw Pork Belly up).<br/><br/>One thing they've got to sort out is the paying of your bill, I waited in a line of people for approximately 15 min just to pay.  Had that not happened this please easily would've been a 4.5 out of 5.<br/><br/>I'm off to Cambodia in 4 days time, it'll be really interesting to see if the local Sth East Asian food matches up to the taste extravaganza that is Kiss Kiss.

I'm so happy that this is a "cool" looking place with great food and prompt and very friendly service. Far too many eateries in Auckland these days look the part but food and service have disappointed. Not Kiss kiss though! Wouldn't expect any less considering their two other eateries have always been amazing.<br/><br/>My favourite from this new northern thai inspired joint has to be the spicy thai fishcakes. The sriracha infused hollandaise gives the right sort of kick that elevates this dish.<br/><br/>Presentation, plating and flavours of each dish Ive tried are all on point.<br/><br/>Will definitely be back to try the dinner menu.

What a delightful place, so vibrant and fresh feeling. The food is delicious and fast! Great for sharing and the cocktails pack a punch - I recommend the Farage cocktail. Reasonable pricing as well...we can't wait to go back.

Arrived for dinner around 7pm and it was chaos, people everywhere. No indication of who was waiting to eat, who was waiting for a drink, who was doing what... Went to the bar for a drink only to find that you cannot order a drink, you need to queue to order at a separate till (the one which you also pay for your meal at)! Very odd system and no signage to make people aware of this. <br/><br/>After about 20 minutes we finally managed to get a drink. Not long after, we were seated and ordered our food. There was a little bit of confusion with our order but the food arrived quickly so we were happy. <br/><br/>We tried 4 dishes (2 mains & 2 sides), all were tasty but we enjoyed the pork mince the most and the stir fried gai lan the least (it was still hard & didn't have a lot of flavour). All in all, it was a good meal. <br/><br/>However when we came to pay, the bill was incorrect. Rather than apologise and quickly change our bill to what we did have, the woman behind the till had us explain in minute detail what we had and didn't have and then spent an age updating every item before we could pay. It was not a great ending to our evening. Most places would say sorry and don't worry about it or quickly fix the issue and let us pay and leave. Considering it was them at fault, we felt like it was a problem we caused and were being asked to explain ourselves! There were also people behind us waiting to pay which made it a bit embarrassing not to mention time consuming for the rest waiting patiently. <br/><br/>In summary, ok food but need to sort the rest to make it a smoother experience.

A Friend and I decided after seeing the massive hype of this establishment one night on our way past, that we would go for dinner here at some point. Today was the day. We were super stoked to have some awesome Thai food.<br/><br/>I have to say though, we were left relatively underwhelmed with the dishes that we ordered except for the Chicken Wings(my god, they were amazing). I ordered a noodle dish, and asked for it to be spicy. They definitely delivered and it was nice, but apart from the bite of the chili, it was a little bland. The rice dish we ordered was mostly rice, very little mince.. It was ok, but pretty bland. <br/><br/>The service here is great, the meals come out fast, and the price is alright. I'd say it's worth checking it out for the vibe, and making up your own mind. But unfortunately I don't think a Kiss Kiss dinner will be on menu soon.

How great is it when a new eatery lives up to the hype?<br/>We had brunch at Kiss Kiss today and wow! What a great new addition to the super popular Balmoral dining scene.<br/>I must admit, when we pulled up it appeared to be a bit of a hipster hangout, but I'm glad that didn't put us off, because the food was impressive.<br/>Miss 11 ordered the Burmese pork belly and I went with the brioche French toast.<br/>I'm a huge fan of pork belly and if it's on the menu I'm pretty much guaranteed to order it, so I was happy to share when it arrived at the table. I love food with lots of flavour, so the pork belly was pretty much perfection.<br/>The French toast was very good too. Great presentation, great flavours. Loved the combination of dulce de leche & coconut.<br/>I thought some coconut yoghurt would have gone nicely with it, but it's definitely still a dish worth ordering.<br/>As popular as they are, so far I prefer Kiss Kiss to it's sister eateries, Leouf & Chinoiserie.<br/>Will be back for sure!<br/><br/>Update: Have since returned and tried the 'Night' menu (& more items from the 'Day' menu) and I was not disappointed in any way. <br/>Despite our late arrival one night, the staff were lovely and the ribs and pork curry were exceptional. <br/>I'm quite a fan of the ribs at Chinoiserie, but prefer the ones at Kiss Kiss. And the pork curry was equally delicious. <br/><br/>Overall: lovely service and consistently great food. Love this place!

Yum yum yum! We love kiss kiss! The atmosphere is very hip. Youngsters will defitnately enjoy this place. I ordered the porkbelly and my bf got the scotched eggs. The flavours were amazing. The food taste better than it looks! Coffee was yummy too. No complaints!

We LOVE KK and we've only dined there during the day. If you're looking for a cool, funky place to dine @ and you want great service, definitely try KK. We've read reviews from people on Fb complaining about the cost of KK's dishes and the fact that people don't like the interior and our question is, "then why stay?" KK is current and hip and we wish there were more people out there wanting to take a punt and open up funky fresh places like KK, the Chinoiserie and L'oeuf. <br/><br/>Another plus? Sebastian if you're lucky enough to be served by him, then your experience will be even snazzier. We had a couple of nice, strong fw's, the Burmese pork belly and the Bangkok filled roll w. tofu. DEEEEELISH! We don't mind paying for an overall amazing experience, we can't wait to do it again and try the even more diverse night menu. Thanks team, thanks Sebastian!

I was hanging out for my new favourite brunch spot and now I have found it. I plan on going back and trying everything on their brunch menu as soon as I can. Best of all it that they also have a kick ass dinner menu so I can eat here twice a day.<br/><br/>Kiss Kiss is a Northern Thai inspired restaurant with a kick ass brunch menu. If you're bored of the usual brunch fare I highly recommend trying Kiss Kiss. It was really hard ordering as everything sounded delicious. We ended up getting the pork belly curried beans, crispy rice salad and rum and orange soaked brioche french toast. They were all fantastic and everyone had a different favourite dish. My favourite was the pork belly curried beans. The pork and beans (hehe) was all packed with flavour. The son in law egg was cooked perfectly and the bread was great to mop up the soupy sauce. Loved it! The crispy rice salad was indeed crispy and my friend Erin loved the texture of the dish making it her favourite. The french toast was light and flavourful, not sickly sweet, with delicious coconut dulche de leche. My only criticism is that it was a little on the small side with two smallish pieces of toast. It was so tasty I definitely wanted more. <br/><br/>Upon paying I discovered Kiss Kiss had a treasure trove of baked goods inside as well. Again, something I will have to try next time. <br/><br/>I was fortunate to go on a beautiful sunny morning so I sat outside. I was pleasantly surprised how much seating there was inside. <br/><br/>I was so impressed with brunch I had to come back for dinner and was equally impressed. The dinner menu is cheaper than brunch (don't you hate that, why does brunch have to be so expensive?) and is divided into rice and noodle dishes.  We order #6 Phat Thai Thamadaa (pad thai) #12 Gai Phat Kaphrao (Pork belly curry) and #Kao Phat Moo (Pork fried rice). All the dishes were delciuous and had the same great flavour and freshness that the brunch dishes had. I don't thik I could pick a favourite. Maybe the Phat Thai Thamadaa cause I'm a sucker for a great pad thai. Again, I will have to come back and try more of their dinner menu.

These French boys produce excellent Asian fusion / European brunch items. The menu is more Asian than L'oeuuf which is a firm fave of mine. Make sure you try the charcoal tarts!<br/>What lets the place down is the inconsistent random service. Forgotten cutlery; slow service; inattentive waitstaff seemed to dominate two times we have come with friends. Once a waitress even forgot to ask one of our friends for her order and it took a whole to track another down. I really hope they work on it because it really isn't l'oeuf's style!
Yoda
Was treated to Mother's Day breakfast at this great new addition to Balmoral. Seating was the first obstacle as it's all bench/shared tables for 6, most of which were occupied by 2 or 3 people who spread-out to discourage anyone from sitting at their table. A bit puzzling that smaller tables aren't available as there's plenty of room to add some without crowding the room.<br/>Next problem, of a nicer nature, was choosing what to eat from the interesting brunch/day menu. Great coffee to start, delicious chicken lime scotch egg, must try fish cakes with "hot" hollandaise, & a Bangkok roll with pork that also meet with praise.<br/>The cakes/pastries available were less successful. A lemon tart & green pandan tart looked very interesting with a black pastry base - apparently black due to added charcoal for health cleansing benefits. Afraid it was just gritty & not at all pleasant. The Danish pastry looked good.<br/>The kitchen at night has a different menu more heavily Thai influenced.<br/>Overall excellent mains, a bit on the high $, but chose your cakes with care. And whoever picked the dirty pink colour for the walls didn't do the place any favours! Dulls everything. Do something like classic clean white or really electric pink, please.

I've been to Kiss Kiss twice now and loved it both times. So far I've tasted the pad Thai, the chicken coconut curry and a handful of the cocktails. The food is amazing, filling and packed with flavour. The drinks are more hit and miss but I think that comes down to personal preferences - there's something for everyone from sweat and fruity to deep and full of amber liquors. The coolest thing is that the cocktail menu is found via a view master. It's also a bit tricky to view if you wear glasses. <br/><br/>Kiss Kiss is lovely for a date but also great for a drink & a bite with friends. A couple more vege friendly options on the starter/sides menu would be amazing for a casual bite but otherwise no complaints!
Kat
Have heard mixed reviews about this place but really wanted to give it a try myself. I loved everything about it, the atmosphere, the interior, staff were super friendly, the coffee was perfect and the food was amazing with a great mix of flavours. We had the free range chicken And scotched egg, and the glass noodle and satay salad. Basically couldn't fault anything! Can't wait to come back for dinner!
Sweetlikesugar
Came here in a big group and look the restaurant at this stage can not cope with larger groups.<br/>Drinks all came out at different times and by different I mean at least 30-40 min waits in between, food the same. Staff were friendly but there obviously was just too much going on at other tables to cope.<br/>The snacks we shared at the beginning were good but the mains were very average, lacked flavour and just not exciting, no wow. <br/>Wouldn't come back but always good to try somewhere new when in Auckland.
Anna Barlow
Came here for dinner and had the pad Thai with prawns which was truly authentic Thai. Can't wait to come back to have the sticky rice again (this is a MUST) and I've heard the snapper and ribs are to die for. Fast, friendly service, and looking forward to trying the day menu!
Bizcochito
This is such a welcome addition to Balmoral where our cafe scene is close to nonexistent! (This place has two different vibes & menus between night and day we tried it for brunch). I had high expectations, having visited the owners' other cafes, but Kiss Kiss did not disappoint. We both had the Bangkok filled roll (1 with tofu and 1 with pork) and the food came out promptly and was absolutely delicious with amazing flavours! Coffee is atomic and was good, service also excellent. Great selection of pastries in the cabinet as well as a really interesting menu, will be back far too often for sure.
Joanna Koat
Delicious food! I had the kaffir lime scotch egg with spiced pumpkin, cabbage and coriander pesto on sourdough. Amazing flavours and textures, would definitely order again! The crispy rice noodle salad and apple muesli which also looked yum. Good coffee. The wait staff seemed a little hesitant and the space felt unusually empty but otherwise a great place. Keen to go back for the Mango Lassi!
Ally Smart
Amazing spot, vibrant and fun. The food is amazing, both during the day and the evening. Its laid back and welcoming and fits in to the Balmoral dining scene perfectly. Get there!
Becky Lee
Dined here on the opening night and absolutely loved it. Service was quick and super friendly. I had the pad thai and it was delicious! It was very authentic and not overly sweet like other thai places. For dessert, we had both the doughnuts and the mango sticky rice - both were superb. The atmosphere was also fun and energetic. Overall, great dining experience, can't wait to come back again.
Matt Davidson
went here for lunch last week and then dinner a couple days later. opted for French toast and the black rice at the lunch which was delightful and perfect portions. very cool interior and location. was very busy for dinner but only had to wait 5 minutes for a table and were sat at the end of a long trestle table with another party but felt very private still. had pad thai and chicken curry - pad thai was very standard not so imaginative and the chicken curry was a bit mushy. on the whole a good experience would have thought the dinner menu to be a bit more creative. very fast service
Food Adventures With AnnaJ
I read about Kiss Kiss on The Denizen so I thought id try something new in Balmoral.<br/>The decor was basic but had cool vibes and some cool wall art. The menu offers a range of northern Thai food, some classics like pad thai and something new like the pork belly curry. I firstly ordered the 'lychee' beer, which had no lychee flavour at all. We each ordered something different; I had the gaeng hang lay - pork belly curry. Super flavourful and portion size was perfect for the price. My friends had pad se ew, pretty standard Thai dish, again perfect portion. The Thai style pork ribs very deliciously marinated but the dipping sauce was too spicy and took away the flavour. the last dish ordered was gai phat kaphrao. This was very disappointing. the 'stir fry' was minced chicken that was very dry and lacked any chili or garlic flavours. <br/>Service was ok for a brand new place, some of the staff knew lots about the menu where others didn't know what dish they were putting on the table. I loved the viewfinders for the cocktail list, cool touch of something different.<br/>I potentially will eat here again, as the price of the food was great and this place was quite different to the standard Thai restaurant.
Caroline Jericevich
Great new addition to the cafe/restaurant scene in Balmoral. I had heard a couple of great reviews about this new all day Thai Eatery so thought we would try. <br/><br/>We arrived 15minutes before we were due to meet friends (as we thought there would be a wait for a table), only to find we walked right in and could choose between 3 or 4 tables. Oh well. Inside tables are communal style and there are umbrellas and palm trees propped up everywhere. Coffee service was super fast and it was one of the best coffees I have had (a consensus across the table). <br/><br/>Lots of interesting items on the menu...Smoked Thai Fish Cakes and the Burmese style pork belly were winners for today. Warning: the red strings on top of the fish cakes are not saffron! They are chilli! Took me a little too long to figure this out and my mouth suffered the consequences. Besides this blonde moment, food was absolutely to die for. Those fish cakes were beautiful...a smart twist on your standard eggs benedict and the pork belly with curried beans was even tastier!! Everything was reasonably priced too - always a plus!<br/><br/>I can imagine at night, when the communal style dining hall is full, the atmosphere is bustling and it will transport you to a different city. Unfortunately, during the day this atmosphere was absent and the rather large room seemed rather empty. Heaps of potential and I will definitely come back for dinner service...those old school view finders at the bar look far too intriguing!!
Stu
The thai scotch egg was nice but the larb was not at all like an authentic thai tarb and had a lot of burnt bits in it.  Also the thai sausage side was overpriced for how much one got. I can imagine this is more of a place to come with a group of friends for drinks with some OK thai food rather than for a good thai meal out.
Birdman
Avoid at all costs. Although the service was friendly it was horribly slow with drinks taking 20 minutes each time and food sitting on the table for 10 minutes before plates even came out. Food was horrific and so salty, the only thing which was half decent was the satay sauce. It as cheap but still don't wast your time.
Michael
We had a bit of a mixed bag here. The pork belly curry was good, but the pad Thai was a bit burnt and also lacking in flavour (we weren't charged for the pad Thai).<br/><br/>Service was friendly but the pork crackling and our drinks came out quite a while after the mains were served. <br/><br/>So overall - has potential but some teething problems to address.
Anh Doe
Love their daytime cafe menu. The Brioche French toast with dulce de leche is to die for. The scotched eggs is also equally delicious although the overall dish was a bit on the dry side. Awesome quirky Thai inspired decor and plenty of room for some D&M sesh without feeling like your neighbouring table is involuntarily taking part in your conversation.

Great new addition to Balmoral. <br/>Delicious pork curry, green papaya salad, pork crackling by the bowl. <br/>Nice spacious area. Light and airy decor. <br/>Will need to go back to order the only two other things on the menu we didn't get!<br/>
