Review Tasca - Spanish Tapas Bar & Restaurant - Auckland Central

The food is so delicious and the servings are well presented and generous. Really like this place and will go back. Service is meh, luckily the atmosphere easily makes up for it.

Food was good but service could be better.. place was not very busy, but took some time to attend to us.. nothing bad, but could be improved.. we were starving so did not remember to take food pic.. got the dessert 📸.. food portion was big and taste was good.. place had a very neighbourhood bar, cozy feel..

A great place to get together, have a catch up with friends and grab a bite. Service was really great, the staff were all very attentive and friendly. We really appreciate that. Food was great, the sticky beef cheek was my favourite, it was so delicious. Sangria was great and the Spanish music in the background took us back to Spain. Overall this was a great restaurant. Thank you guys

Amazing Espanol food.. really loved the choice of cocktails and tapas. Delizio Abondigas, chargrilled walnut chicken, Sticky Beef cheek though was better than the chicken Algarve but flavours were on spot.. portions for mains are huge lol, didn't expect that. The El Mariachi and martini of Seville were really well balanced and had a nice kick too.. always love a good kick.. the place was so good we ended up getting the lahmajun and coco maria pizzas think a day later from the dominion place. Dominion was cute but the new market place was spanish flash.. loved the deco and enjoyed the experience. Oh and service at the new market was first class.. thanks guys be back for more tapas and drinks 😁

The signature Cordero lamb is utterly delicious, with meat falling off the bone and dripping with flavour from the red peppers, harissa and pomegranate. We really enjoyed the Calamari tapas as well. Great atmosphere with friendly staff.

If you like Spanish food, come and try this restaurant, in the heart of New Market at Nuffield street. They have a good selection of vegetarian and vegan menu too. Excellent services. We left behind our bag and the team gave us a call to let us know. Thanks Tasca team !!
Julia
I was there for drinks and dessert in the evening. Probably one of very few in the area that offer tea, coffee and cakes till late. Cozy and comfy interior and friendly service. Their turkish apple tea is very nice. Nice selection of cakes and sweets in cabinet. Good range of cocktails and sangria and beers too. Dinner menu looked very good too. Would come back to try their food soon.

Literally some of the best food I've eaten. My tastebuds went to heaven especially the potato bombas.

It's a classic! Great food at reasonable prices. Good service. Hopefully this precinct will come back, as it's looking a bit sad at the moment. We come to Tasca specially though. They have a no gluten added menu too.😁

I imagine Tasca is known more as a bar than a morning coffee joint, but I popped in for an iced latte this morning and was mightily impressed. The duty manager was awesome and she definitely knew her way around the coffee machine. Next time I’m here it’ll be for a beer and a bite, and I’m sure it won’t disappoint! The consistency and good quality of this restaurant has lasted trough the years making one of the best Spanish cuisine you could ever find in Auckland The Tasca New Market breakfast or dinner authentic Spanish style, lovely service excellent and friendly staff 👌
Darren Patterson
Went here with my girlfriend. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, the service was great. We mainly had the tapas which were delicious, I definitely recommend getting the Bombas, the beef quesadillas and the calimares. 8/10

Awesome food and lovely atmosphere. The staff were friendly and there was a nice selection of cocktails. If you park at Westfield Newmarket it’s an easy walk

Friendly service and delicious food. One of our favourite breakfast places. Make sure you check it out as the new mall has shut down the local stores, but this one is a gem and really deserves the public's support and patronage.

If you are looking for a nice and pleasant dine in experience then this is the place. I went for a quick snack b and had their apple tea and avo sandwich, both items were 10/10 . Loved it, will visit again for dinner.

There was some mishap with the order so we had to wait a bit longer but they quickly owned it and delivered these amazing dishes. It was one of the busiest day for them too so overall great location, great staff and amazing food.
Daniel
very delcious and authentic. nice vibe

Dined here a while ago. The tapas were tasty as was the service whether I was alone or with a friend.
Nina
Super unapologetic staff. We ordered something that didn’t match the menu description. We nicely and calmly told the lady that this is not what we expected and the title of the menu item is a bit misleading. She straight out said , “well if you asked me to describe it I would have told you”.... and the other sever implied “everyone has their own opinions about how they interpret the menu!”.... Never again. <br/>
Chrissy
Yummy and pretty decor. Friendly staff

Service was very poor. Took a long time to get a waiters attention to order more drinks. When food came one of the dishes was not what we had ordered (it came in 2 variations, which we didn’t know about and staff did not clarify when we ordered). The waitress was almost yelling at us that it was what we had ordered, hard to insist on showing her the menu. Could have easily been a pleasant night if not for this.

Busy lunch on a Friday, so of course we ordered Sangria! We order the Linguine Al Mariscos, two Vegan Pizzas and Fries. Sadly the Linguine mussels had sand so we didn't eat it but we did finish the Linguine. It needed more seasoning so we added salt which was the kick we needed. The Vegan Pizza needed the extra salt too but the fries was seasoned well and it was good! The Sangria is always good especially the fruits you get to eat at the end. 8/10

Everything was delicious, especially the paella
June Robinson
The Margherita pizza was divine - full of flavour but expensive for a pizza with no meat. Quality ingredients were used and very fresh - the crust was well cooked and plenty of basil
Dee
Love the romantic atmosphere there! Food are delicious. Paella is my personal favorite, meatballs are tasty as well. For dessert, we had chocolate mudcake and rice pudding. Sweet service.
Tremaine Jotham
The paella as usual was simply delicious as well as a pleasant amount of heat. However, the ice tea I remember was larger and tasted nicer as well as in a larger glass. Please return to the old way because it's frustrating to pay $6 for a skinny glass of watered down ice tea which has way too much ice in it.

Great ambiance with live music on Saturdays!<br/>The staff was friendly and attentive and the location is convenient. They have a big space so we were able to get a seat without a problem. <br/>The food was ok. The menu is a little unconventional (not just Spanish - includes quesadillas and pizza) but the items we did try were good.
Shaun Ross
Another amazing atmosphere, food is always tasty! Main dish was slightly on the large side lacking flavor towards to the middle of the beef cheek, became chewy after a while! Prawns and calamari were cooked perfectly!!
Asianfoodie
The staff members were really friendly and they have really a really nice interior that gives off good vibes. The food was quite nice, but not that mind blowing as I expected :(
Donna&Shane
Popped in here for breakfast ... ordered eggs bene with bacon (sauce on the side) and halloumi on the side:<br/>Food was ok... some of the bacon was undercooked and poached eggs were firm<br/>But filled the spot. Service was friendly.

When: Friday night<br/>What we ordered: Grilled Haloumi Cheese, Chorizo and Migas, Albondigas, Paella Mixta, Market Fish and Sangria.<br/>What stood out: Market Fish 😊 - The Fish was fresh and tender. I loved the sauce. It complemented well with the fish as well as with the thinly cut potatoes. We could order another serving if we weren’t already full.<br/>Chorizo and Migas 😔 - It was overcooked, a bit burnt that I found it hard to appreciate its actual flavor.<br/>Rating:<br/>Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved the interior design and decors.<br/>Customer Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Attentive staff.<br/>Would I go back? Yes.<br/>Would I recommend it? Yes.

Really nice food and drinks. Tasty so yum and delicious, especially the meatballs, my husband loves it. ingredients are all fresh. Service good too.

I love Spanish food, this place does it authentic. A great place to come for a light dinner. Their sangrias are super refreshing too perfect for this summer weather.

Nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. Very welcoming staff members. Made a change having a main course that was substantial compared to other eating establishments

Nothing much to say...<br/>Just a really warm and cosy place to dine in. <br/><br/>Ordered their Chicken&Spinach quesadillas and speggetti&meatballs, both were delicious! Full of savoury flavours<br/><br/>Staff was very friendly and welcoming <br/>Knows how to keep their customers happy <br/><br/>Met our expectations 😋

Went there on Wednesday the 3rd January 2019 for lunch,  was not impressed this time,  I ordered the Spaghetti and meatballs with a lime and Lemonade, Husband ordered the Fish and chips with a corona.Meatballs ( od which there were 4)  were warm on the outside and cold on the inside, the spaghetti was lukewarm,  I didn't get the lime and lemonade as they had no limes, EXCEPT, my husbands corona came out with a lime in the neck...His Fish and chips were hot, but the batter on the fish had been over cooked,I asked for extra napkins as Spaghetti can be messy  ( well, for those that know me, it can be)  and that didn't happen eitherNo I didn't cause a ruckus or complain, as i saw they were busy,   when I went to pay, that took over 5 minutes as the one behind the bar working the till had desserts lined up on the back of the bar, putting whipped cream from a can on desserts.  ( would not have been impressed to get artificial cream if I had ordered a dessert)The bill came to just over $72,

This is the second time we've been back to this place but a lot of things have changed. The biggest reason why we (my partner and I) decided to give 2 stars is the customer service.<br/><br/>1. We were welcomed by this middle age lady with heavy accent. It was a bit awkward because we were trying to say a table for 2 but she was just staring hahaha. Anyway, we ordered coffee and maybe because we wanted to sit outside: they wanted us to pay first which was ok. But she was a bit rude in wanting us to pay and always was nonchalant about everything. She just said "pay first" rudely. Oh well at this point we were just thinking maybe shes not having a good morning.<br/><br/>2. Coffee were sent to us; bad coffee but not horrible. We decided to order food, asked for menu, 5 mins the lady came back saying "so what you want". It was very unpleasant. Less than 10 mins later came back, gave us a cheque without saying ANYTHING, just chuck it on the table and walk away.<br/><br/>3. Food came; we ordered some kind of their big breakfast. The only saving grace is the potatoes. They were crunchy and nice. But the rest was just horrible: bacon was part crispy part undercooked. Mushroom is literally only half portobello, cooked as a whole (half(?)) and put on a plate as a whole. Sausages were cold but yummy.<br/><br/>4. This is the biggest bomb for us; it started raining and getting heavy; but no one came out to check w us about food, or about how we are as eating customers sitting outside in the rain. Did not offer napkin whatsoever. Came in to pay after that, no comment whatsoever<br/><br/>We have nothing against the cafe, food can be improved little bit, but the whole experience with this one lady was quite rude and weird + unpleasant.
Rob
Mostly go there for dinner but also open for lunch too. Large restaurant with great atmosphere. My favourite items on the menu is the paella and the sangria. Also reasonably priced too.
Andrean
Our go to place for working lunch.<br/>The food selection is quite broad, the quality is above average and the portion is generous.<br/>I am pretty sure, our next working lunch will be at this place again 😊
Shannon
Had the Mediterranean lunch platter, was nice but not amazing. Is hard to beat my go-to Mezze in the CBD. Prices reasonable. Service standard. Fit out is school chairs with padded seats. Nicely decorated. Very attractive vibe from the street. Comfy and cosy place to dine on a rainy day.

Great place to snack and have coffee on nuffield.<br/><br/>Everyone is always friendly and they have great peach ice tea!<br/><br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Presentation: 4/5<br/>Environment: 4/5<br/>Food Quality: 4/5<br/>Food Quantity: 4/5<br/>Price per person: $30

Dined here yesterday - the food was delicious (though our dessert and hot chocolate did take a while to arrive).  We had the mussels in saffron, prawns and the assorted breads - absolutely heavenly. This was followed by the spiced hot chocolate and churros. I personally was not impressed by hot chocolate (too milky and too sweet, not enough chocolate and spice); though the rest of the group enjoyed it.  I'll surely go back - but only for the entree / mains.
Chris L
I really want to give a 5 star for their foods but my first time experience at this restaurant was ruined by one of the (older) waitresses who seem very casual and almost too rough talking to us. When I observed her attitude she very quiet friendly to other guests.
Bianca Ratima
I like the $7 coffee and savoury scone combo. Scones are always fresh and full of flavour. Meals are hit and miss sometimes but good tapas for sharing with a few drinks

Four of us had brunch here on Saturday am<br/>Service was very good<br/>As were the meals<br/>They did overlook a request for eggs to be done hard<br/>But most do that!<br/>The Spaniard was excellent with Chorizo<br/>Lovely premises on Nuffield<br/>Perhaps not quite as good as the Mount Eden one but getting there
Fraser Jordan
Went here for dinner. The service was great and the atmosphere was great, the live performer was awesome. The food was Ok but nothing special, I found it to be a little pricey too.

Occasionally when I want something different to Cali’s I walk a few metres down to Tasca’s. I’ve been to Tasca’s a few times now, and I must admit that they have great consistency. I usually get either the meatball or spaghetti. Both are fantastic and the lunch price won’t hurt your pocket too bad. In terms of setting, I love sitting on the street, theres something about eating your meal on the street that really appeals to me, I’m not exactly sure why but its an awesome feeling. If you’re in NewMarket, I would highly recommend you drop by Tasca’s. <br/><br/>I’ll admit that my knowledge of Spanish/Mediterranean cuisine is limited, so if Tasca isn’t up to your taste my sincerest apologies. <br/><br/>Showstopper: Can’t go wrong with the Meatball or Spaghetti .<br/><br/>Overall Grad: A-

I always have an amazing experience at Tasha and Danielle always makes us feel at home. The Dolma is to die for and the market fish always done beautifully. For a lovely elegant Spanish food experience, I’d highly recommend. Can’t wait to try the Mt Eden one!

Nice atmosphere, nice staff good place for relaxing afternoon. Good selection of drinks. Especially best sangria in auckland by far.<br/>Must try

We were in the area and after reading some reviews on here/looking at their menu we wanted to give it a go. Service is standard and the ambience is nice, rustic with candles and live music at the time (sat night). <br/><br/>We had the Paella Mixta, Cordero (it had carrots as well) and a Lahmajun. The menu states to allow 20 mins for the paella but everything came out together in about 10 mins which was great. It was all very delicious, I'm guessing maybe not fresh seafood in the paella though but still nice and fair enough. The cordero was just like a tasty lamb shank/stew, nice but not really stand out. The lahmajun was the winner for me (the other dishes were still good though) but that's me being biased for it.<br/><br/>Looking forward to our next visit to try more items on the menu.

I had nice diner here. I didnt know the signature dishes .but all of my friends ordered the same dishes (34 dollar one). My pizza n shrimps was good:)

Really great food! An entire Veggie and entire Vegan menu are provided on request! So much delicious food! Reasonably priced for the amount you get too. Order the haloumi, as you get heaps! THE best Sangria outside of Spain too. Please go here!! They also have another restaurant in Mt Eden. Very happy!

Been to this place several times, never let down. Came in Sunday night, ordered signature dishes Paella and Roast lamb shoulder, and sword fish skewer, the fish was average and slightly blend, the lamb shoulder and paella were divine. Also the tapas were absolutely worthwhile small and varieties of choice. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Their food was horrible. We ordered salad with chicken which was too dry and dripping in oil. The chicken didn’t even taste like chicken and tasted like an old rubber. Another thing we ordered was steak sandwich, which was more disappointing than the chicken salad. I ordered medium but the meat was well done and tasted bad. It was for lunch. Returned both back to kitchen but the answer we heard back was that the steak arrived in the morning. The only thing edible there was chips, although we had to pay for all three. WARNING: DON’T EAT ANY MEAT THERE. Will never go back there again. It was the most horrible experience I had at any restaurant in my life.
Mmmfood
I absolutely love this place. The food is a delight and because tapas come in small portions, you get to try more than one thing with each meal. We ordered 3 tapas for 2 people, which is plenty to fill the belly. The restaurant has a beautiful rustic ambience, which is complemented by the soft sounds of flamenco music playing in the background. The service was also very friendly and prompt. While the food isn't exactly cheap, it's definitely worth every cent. This place is going to be one of our regulars!

Came in last year after school with a friend for afternoon tea.<br/>Delicious moist muffins served in a nice cozy environment by friendly staff. Coffee was brewed well. Price was good for the quality and size. Would definitely come again to try main meals.
Rubyrose
My partner and I have been there only once for dinner, we ordered two Tapas (they were alright) and I had market fish as main which was recommended by the staff and my partner ordered Cordero. We found both of the mains were very normal and didn’t justify the name/ culture / taste of the restaurant..

If you've ever been to Europe or Spain, this place will bring back lovely memories for you. :) It really feels like dining out in the Mediterranean. It has a lovely atmos and setting, and the staff were great.<br/>Everyone I was with had a great meal, I was worried that there would be nothing for my vegan, gluten free diet, but I asked and they gave me an entire separate menu.... two in fact, one for Gluten free, one for vegan, (and they also have a vegetarian menu), and were happy to combine the vegan one with the GF one... It was great, no hassle and exactly what I asked for. the chef was really nice and even came out and chatted with me about where he got the bread from and my meal in general.<br/><br/>The others I dined with had chicken, meat and pizzas and everything was really nice quality, well cooked and really enjoyed. My husband has eaten here alot previously and said the Sangria is fantastic. <br/>It wasn't too expensive, especially given as it is in the city, and we will definitely go back. only downside is it does make me miss Europe even more! ;)

Lamb shanks are always a winner!! Bigger space...<br/><br/>Staff hung around like flies, obviously wasn’t a busy night - much prefer Mt Eden atmosphere
Rebecca MacDonald
Who doesn’t love Spanish tapas? As per usual I ordered way too much for just two people but what we didn’t finish we took home so we can enjoy Spanish tapas for lunch as well! The place was busy given we hadn’t booked we only had two table options - both were fine but demonstrates how busy they were for a Tuesday night!
Reenz
Came here for dinner with a friend and it was our first time dining here. The place was quite full but we managed to get a table with their staff being quite accommodating. The low light ambience of the restaurant is quite nice with a lit candle on each table. Wait staff were lovely. We ordered their mussels and ceviche for starters. Both were amazing. Their mussels were flavoured well and the ceviche was a little different to what I have had before, but was so delicious. I just wish the portion was a bit bigger. For mains we ordered the spaghetti meatballs and the lamb. When the lamb came out it was massive! This would be good for a male or a very hungry person because the portion is huge! The taste was quite nice but I wouldn't be able to eat it all, it would get a bit sickening after awhile, so I think this dish is best to be shared. The spaghetti meatballs were yummy and portion was quite good. We will definitely return but next time will order more tapas/starters and share our meals this time. Ordered the house beer and that was quite good also 👌 prices are ok? Not the cheapest but I'm happy to pay if the quality is good.

First visit, excellent food and it was flamenco night, delighted. First spanish restaurant that actually feels and tastes like spanish. Lovely rustic decor. Tried potato balls with bacon and it was wonderful. The sangria was alright, not awesome (why brandy?) and the dessert was some sort of chocolate cake, very good.<br/>All staff looks spanish but not sure.<br/>Definitely to repeat.

Well ....... <br/><br/>Let's start with the + points <br/><br/>Ambience & setting 5/5<br/>Wait staff 4/5 <br/>Coffee 4/5 <br/><br/>Food 1.5/5<br/><br/>The food<br/>I was super excited about this place after I read<br/>All the reviews and saw they had a vegan menu <br/><br/>Both meals as shown <br/>Were just was lacking any flavour what so ever<br/><br/>I ordered the vegan pizza <br/>Which was hold the tomato(raw tomato on top) and add extra <br/>Potato<br/><br/>As you can see in the pic<br/>The base - dry - marginal sauce <br/>(Cardboard with toppings)<br/><br/>Toppings were good in terms of quantity <br/>But purely lacking any seasoning or flavour <br/>I was hoping the Rosemary would come <br/>Through after adding some salt and pepper<br/>Zilch <br/><br/>The other meal was a friends<br/>Tasca vegan lunch plate<br/>Bland again .... The hummus which I had a <br/>Taste of <br/>Was just chickpeas and oil <br/>No seasoning <br/>And he confirmed the rest of the meal was<br/>What evs<br/><br/><br/><br/>Hungry as hell we finished both meals as<br/>We'd driven from Papakura to eat here<br/>In pure disappointment <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Would recommend for a team beer or coffee<br/>As the settings nice and the staff is friendly<br/><br/>However eat elsewhere? = /<br/>

You shouldn’t miss the gold old Spanish taste at Tasca New Market. Must-try are the Pastrami Pizza, Pepperonni Pizza (which we ordered twice!), Paella Mixta, and the Baklava Dessert (which was voted by my team as one of the best in town). More than the food, we would commend the crew. Despite without prior reservation, the manager accommodated us well. We were told to sit on their comfy lounge to wait and she would come to us occasionally to ensure that we were fine. She was busy that time, but she never ran out of good conversation every time she approached us. It was her warm personality that really stood out and made us feel at home. Good food and great feel! We couldn’t ask for more.

First time here with my girl friends ...good athmosphere and nice pizza to share .. trying for the first time lahmajun ...instanbul street flavours... basically beef pizza with rocket and tomatoes at the top ..good large size :) was good but no wow <br/>Moka coffee with nice decoration & litle mashmellow cookies

My friend and I have been to this place (Dominion rd branch) so many times and terms of foods we were always happy with the quality and taste. But last one we were there, my friend tried to call them to make a booking but nobody picked up the phone (she did it 3 times). Then we decided to come there without booking. It was 5.30pm and one of the waiters asked us if we have made booking. My friend told him that she had tried called a few hours ago bit nobody picked up the phone. Then she showed him the grabone voucher. He made a weird yet rude face to us and asked "So you guys haven't made a booking or have made? We are so busy right now and without any booking you guys can't be here." But we didn't see the crowd of people? Then we asked him when the people will turned up and if there's still a small table available as we were just 2 people. He said rudely "I said to you guys without booking you guys cannot be here, and in about 30 mins the reserved people will start coming and everywhere will be full" <br/>Luckily, a lovely lady who recognised us as their loyal customers popped out and she just let us came in to the garden area and made up table for us! She even said sorry to us! Then as usual, we had our dinner peacefully and enjoy every meals we ordered. We still love this place, but not that GUY!!! He just doesn't have a good attitude or good customer service.
Aimee.
The service here is really good and the waitress was always smiling and friendly. However the menu itself wasn't very vegan friendly. The menu was very heavy in red meat such as beef and didn't have many options for chicken or dairy free. The food itself was flavourful and the portions were huge.

Our party of 4 walked 100 meters to have dessert and liqueur coffee at Tasca ( Newmarket) last night. We were seated quickly, together with the dessert menu being promptly offered. Orders were quickly given and service the turnaround was lightening fast. Fantastic. We had never eaten here before. The desserts were fresh, generous and mouthwatering. The liqueur coffees were supreme. What a great time we had. Well done Tasca. We'll be back. Guaranteed.

My oh my! Ive been to Tasca, Newmarket a few times. Situated along Nuffield St. Good vibe and ambiance capped with nicely dimmed lights. Food was served quick and fresh. We ordered Lahmajun pizza and jug of Sangria. Pizza was delish, thin based crunchy with salads on top. Service was average, but overall it was a pleasant dining experience.
Lucyeatsakld
Came here just before the lunch time rush on a Saturday and was seated straight away. Between two people we got the kumru burger, spicy meatballs, and the ceviche salad, which was quite a lot as all the dishes were pretty big and filling. My pick had to be the meatballs - they had a fantastic peppery flavour on their own but they came with the most devine smokey eggplant dip that I could've just had on its own. The ceviche salad I was less passionate about but all in all it was a very satisfying meal, came to $67 incl a drink. <br/><br/>Food: 4.5/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Atmosphere: 5/5<br/>Instagrammability: 3/5

I was hugely impressed with the Tasca on Dominion Road, however, this was my first time visiting the New Market branch.<br/><br/>The layout is quite different, it is long and spacious. I loved the vibrant colors, the art collection on the wall, and the comfy looking couches.<br/><br/>The staffs were friendly and professional. I was also delighted to find out that besides dinner & drinks, they offer breakfast too. Everything on the menu looked delicious! Lots of vegetarian\vegan & gluten-free options too.<br/><br/>My friend ordered the salmon eggs benedicts, which looked generous in serving size, and mouthwatering. However, she did complain the the bread was completely soggy therefore she did not end up eating it :(<br/><br/>I had the Mediterranean lunch plate, which was prettily presented. Unfortunately the egg plant dip had a horrible burnt flavour, which kind of ruined it for me :( Other than that, the beans were yummy and well-seasoned. The bread was hot, fresh, and soft. The grilled halloumi cheese was absolutely heavenly.<br/><br/>Another thing we really enjoyed was the chai latte - not overly sweet, perfectly rich with cinnamon flavours and other spices.<br/><br/>All in all, definitely mixed experience in terms of food. I liked this place enough that I wouldn't mind returning, but I think I preferred the Olive Garden dining environment for the Dominion Road branch more.
CocoOnFire
Been here for a numeric times, love to come for coffee as there's nice shops around.<br/>The food is good with some Spanish style. We ordered three dishes to shared, love the seafood rice the most but just a bit small; the tuna salad is ok if you don't treat it as sashimi; the Tasco lunch plate has quite a bit of variety within. We had a friendly service this time.

Had a lovely night last night... ordered the oxtail, mussel, beer. Service was good, nice lady with kind services. Did not have any issues at all. Did enjoy the time spend there. Recommended and will come back.

Loved this place, went here for my friends 21st birthday a while ago and the staff were so kind and friendly to us. The food is delicious and tasty. Tasca has a unique cultural atmosphere within it. The restaurant is very clean. A little bit on the pricier side. However it is definitely worth the experience. Would definitely go again.

Had a business lunch. Great service, excellent food and reasonable prices. Cold winter weather called for the soup of the day and a pizza - both were very good. Highly recommended.<br/>Another visit on a Friday night. Service was outstanding and the Tapas tasty. Great atmosphere with a cosmopolitan feel. The beer selection has some good Spanish options.<br/><br/>Don’t eat the salty carrot cake. Icing was salty. When the problem was highlighted they were in absolute denial. Took it off the bill though. The difference between salt & sugar is basic - worrying when the chef can’t taste the difference!<br/>

Really enjoyed my time at Tasca the other night, have been here several times and the food is always delicious. I just think its a little expensive, especially the tapas since they're pretty small. Service was good, I'd just prefer if staff give us more time before ordering especially since it was quiet. Although they were really nice in letting us bring in a birthday cake with no charge. <br/><br/>The margharita pizza is my go to dinner here, but the other night I had the spaghetti meatballs and think this is my new favourite. I was worried there would be too much spaghetti and not enough meat, but I was happily surprised as there were 5 huge meatballs. The chicken dish is a great portion size too.

Occasion: A birthday dinner with relatives.<br/>Food: Decent, enjoyable food.<br/><br/>Service: Poor. We were served by a middle-aged man whose only words for the two-hour dining were "Ready to order?" and "Finished?". He refused to properly serve dishes. Rather handed them out for the patrons to take. He did not once move from his rigidly upright posture.<br/><br/>Ambience: Nice enough. Fairly casual environment.<br/><br/>Summary: I place as much value on service as I do for food. In contrast to many of the reviewers here, I found the service to be poor. Perhaps it is just this particular server. Regardless, I would not dine here again.

Came here a few times with friends, mostly just for a light snack as the food portions are extremely small. <br/><br/>The wait staff are all nice and friendly, it has an exotic decor too that is sort of Greek with some Spanish influence. <br/><br/>The food itself is OK, it doesn't contain the wow factor and the price was a bit dear too. Tasca didn't get my fancy but perhaps it will please others.

Just popped in for a quick moccachino and ordered ahead. Lovely service thanks for the wee chocolate surprise. I'd like to try the lunch next it was busy !

I like coming here on a cold night -the decor and atmosphere is really warming- especially nice if you manage to get to sit by the fireplace. My favourite dish is the chilli prawns with garlic olive oil. The prawns are really big and juicy and full of flavour. And comes with bread to mop up what's left over. A red wine or sangria goes really nicely with it as well.
Chuchueats
Such a beautiful interior and nicely welcomed by Spanish waiters, full of vibrant dishes and really filling and delicious! Had such an amazing time eating tapas for lunch, took me back to Barcelona for a bit! Cheers

Tasca is a fantastic restaurant for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or just coffee! I've done it all. Of all the menu dishes I've tried, I would mostly recommend the savoury brunch dishes and the tapas menu! I had the French toast this morning, served with poached pear and whipped cream, it was nice but could have been way better.. definitely order bacon to go with it and extra whipped cream. I'm not sure if the poached pear is meant to be cold but personally I'd have preferred it warm like the toast itself. The coffee here is superb and never disappoints. The vibe is super cosy, nice on a rainy day to bring a book and chill for a while. They also have big tables for groups which is nice 👍🏼 the staff are really attentive and friendly, always smiling and having fun at work. Prices are super reasonable too. Highly recommended 😍

Came here with a group for a friend's birthday. The decor and live entertainment was a nice touch and really made it an exciting place to go. We went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. The ambience of the place would probably be my favourite thing about the restaurant. The food was tasty and service was average; neither were particularly outstanding. My friend brought a birthday cake along to have there and was told there would be a cost to do so, but $20 seems pretty excessive to bring your own cake. Overall I wouldn't be inclined to return.

Delicious, well made food with heaps of flavour and variety. This is a great place to come with a big group of people. Everyone was raving about the food, and the rosĂŠ sangria is nothing to be sneezed at. Loved the Spanish dĂŠcor with the pictures and the tiles on the wall. The staff was friendly however I would have liked them to have refilled our water as I got very thirsty. But I will definitely return and I know my friends will want to as well!

The food is really nice here, lots of interesting flavours and a heap of classics. Dolma was my favorite. The food came quickly after ordering and the sangria was nice. We might have just come on a bad night, but there was this high pitched squealing coming from a speaker somewhere (maybe to scare the birds away?) that was incredibly loud. I made the call that it would be alright after a few minutes but I could barely concentrate the whole evening. Lesson learned.

Had the squid. Great aioli but could have had more squid. Simple menu. Restaurant a little dark inside and cluttered. Table wobbly and cutlery a little rough. <br/>But would go again.

Had an early lunch her with my wife and one of my daughters. We had the cheese scones (excellent texture and flavour), the fries (fresh oil - very tasty) and double espressos with hot milk on the side (very good). Service authentic - so Latin laid back and you aren't quite sure what you are going to end up with. Worth a try.

Tasca, this place always brings a smile on my face. Newmarket has a lot of character and this place totally adds to bring that out. Very well thought of decor and super friendly staff who make you feel so welcome, strange how it is but this characteristic is becoming quite rare nowadays. We often stop by there for a couple during the day, l love how open and bright this place is which overlooks the street's hustle bustle. Their bread platter, olives and crockets are very authentic and delicious.however their portion size is very small. But their Cocktails are such a hit, finally a place which gets Spanish Sangria right-well done. Also Peach Belini is something to look out for ladies, yumm yummy yumm.

Stopped by for lunch. The wait staff were really friendly and showed us to our table and gave us time to wait for our last friend. They were fairly attentive and came to get our orders when we were ready. The food looked and tasted really nice. Nice flavours and decent portion.

I was around new market this morning and looking for a place for brunch. I've always liked tasca for their dinner and decided to try their brunch today. I ordered the baked eggs and the bf got the omelette. The baked eggs was perfect. I like my baked eggs with a bit of acidity in it and tasca nailed it. The meatball in it was juicy as well. My bf enjoyed his omelette. The only complain was that he wasn't feeling the potatoes in the omelette. Other than that, no complains. Service was good, atmosphere was good and food was good

Called in here for lunch Thursday 25 Aug 2016, nice Spanish fell, I did make a phone booking and inquired about the fish in there Pallea - I was not told that this is only on there dinner menu. Had the calamares $24 & affgato $15.50 (ice cream, coffee shot & liqueur) + Spanish Estrella 550ml $12.50. Had a grab one voucher so quit good value for what I had. Would have been nice if they pointed out the chefs special. Menues on here need updating.

That dreamlike cosy fireplace with the mint tea and cake from the other day? That was actually Tasca in Newmarket. It's bigger than what you see from the streets, it's warm and spacious at the same time, with candles on each table, couples enjoying romantic dinner with knives and forks on the one side while a lone dude lounges with a novel and coffee on the other.

Great food at reasonable prices! <br/>Waitress was very friendly ..however the owner seemed a bit confronting? <br/>So after our food we ordered a brownie and we waited around 20minutes...so we were frustrated as the cafe wasnt that busy <br/>So when it came, I said "finally!" And the owner asked us if we were busy or in a rush and that they had to cook it without an apology? Although the brownie was from the cabinet...<br/>Anyhow!<br/>We got the lunch tapas which was good! And the moorish eggs which were very nice but tomato was a little bland<br/>I'll definitely come back

It had been a while since I'd eaten at Tasca, so we were keen to try their menu after being regulars there in the past.<br/>We were lucky to score a table in their window - great for people watching, but warm enough on a cold winters night.<br/>Service was good, efficient enough.<br/>We ordered the house red - a Spanish merlot & it was delicious. A nice mellow red with enough flavour to work well alongside our meals.<br/>For our dishes we had the chilli prawns from the tapas menu. Four prawns that were cooked well without being overdone (quite often the case). They had lots of flavour & that chilli hit. It came with some freshly toasted bread to soak up the juices.<br/>Also the potato bravas which were again perfectly cooked with a delicious tomato sauce.<br/>Also the spaghetti & meatballs - lots of flavour in the meatballs with fresh & very fragrant basil throughout. A great meal - will be back.

It was a Saturday night, we were a bit hungry but not starving, thus we decided to go out and find a place we could have some bites. We were not looking for a big meal but more a kind of place we could share some small portions.<br/><br/>Tapas was the first stuff that came to our minds so we decided to give it a go. This place is quite popular in New Market, so it was not hard to find it.<br/><br/>When we arrived there was live music and the place was quite busy. We were welcome by one of the waiters and she accommodated us in one of the tables just on the main hall. <br/><br/>We had patatas bravas, domma, croquetas and a fish with vegetables and 2 glasses of wine.<br/><br/>Our favorites were Domma (a sort of pepper stuffed with rice and spiced herbs) and croquetas (a kind of fish balls). Services were quite good as well despite the fact that communication sometimes can be an issue.<br/><br/>We are definitely getting back in another opportunity and we recommend this place if you are looking for quick bites and are adventurous enough to dive into the Spanish world :)

We ordered Moorish Eggs, Tapas lunch, Carbonara and Steak Sandwich. The meat balls in the moorish eggs were dry maybe because of reheating. The Carbonara was great, creamy and flavorsome. The Steak Sandwich was ok and the Tapas was mediocre. Overall, not a bad experience but could've been better.
Scylla De Magalhaes
Nice tapas, friendly service. I would come back for a quick bite and nice glass of wine. Te where ra Pinot Gris in the menu is a winner. <br/>The chicken and bacon croquet were really tasty.

TASCA! <br/>Boy o boy is this place amazing, love this little restaurant/bar came here with a friend for the very first time, after time and time again of considering the place, I thought I'd check it out and wow amazing food! My friend and I both got the spaghetti & meat balls which was the perfect portion size and more than filling amazing environment and the staff were nice and quick with service! Yum, will be definitely returning here for some drinks and tapas with more friends or family soon! <br/> <br/><br/>UPDATE!:  i have taken down my 4.0 rating due to a recent visit last night.. me and 6 friends went to Tasca  after i had told them it was a lovely place to eat.. i am appalled to say we had the worst service! my last visit was so lovely with them that i didn't expect anything less. However when we were seated and happily choosing our meals and drinks, my two male friends ordered drinks and received them (without being checked for  ID) whilst me and a good friend decided either to go for the sangria or the Mojito.. tough decision.. after a lot of ums and ahhs we decided to go with their red wine and punch sangria!,  we had chosen to get  a litre seeing as we would get more bang for our buck as the 1/2 a litre is $20 and 1 liter is $35, upon request the younger waitress took our order and our ID's proving we were both of age, then i happen to see out the corner of my eye the young  waitress go over to the older woman who i assume is the manager working on the night, and they start to point at our table and have what seemed to be a very big discussion.. no later than 2 minutes of ordering our sangria the older woman comes across to our table  and asks us who is drinking on the table, my friend and i state we are sharing  the sangria and the men are drinking their own drinks also ( no one else on the table were having alcohol) she then Id's my other friend which made her feel very uncomfortable as she didnt order any alcohol and wasn't sharing drinks with us. <br/><br/>I would like to point out here that its usually a custom to check Identification for the whole table not just select people at random and not include 2 people who had already been served alcohol without being checked. The older lady  then proceeded to tell me and my friend that she can only serve us the 1/2 litre of sangria due to the kitchen closing in 5 minutes and no other alcohol can be served after that point, to which we said why are we only being served the half and not the full? if the kitchen closes in 5 minutes i'm sure it takes no longer to make the difference in liters for the sangria..? she refused to give us another explanation as to why and left, we were given our sangria.. 20 minutes later a gentle man was served several glasses of wine for his table and the kitchen was clearly still open.<br/><br/>Upon paying the bill , we had laid a formal complaint and spoke to her about what she could improve on to make the service better for the future, she then had apologized to us all and stated to me and my friend who shared the sangria  "sorry, you all look very young" which concludes to us believing that she only didn't serve the full portion because we looked young despite we had provided true legal documentations including a passport!. <br/><br/>After leaving i had realized she had actually over charged us, she charged us for the full litre and we  ended up paying for the 1 litre sangria even after her insisting on us only having the half litre.... I will not be returning to this branch with any friends or family again as it was very appalling.  Apart from that the food was very good. <br/><br/>kind regards.
Jayce Huynh
We had the grilled tomato bread and moorish eggs - they were good, tasty and no real complaints. Coffee is great. Oh I did feel the meatballs were a bit "heavy" for breakie, so if you can't appreciate meatballs this early on in the day (like me) then steer away from that. 😂
Tet
We dined at lunch, the place wasn't packed but it took a while to get service for placing orders and getting extras like drinks. The tasca lunch we ordered which had bread and 2 tapas were very filling, although the 3 plates of the same order had big differences in the sizes of the bread, one plate had really big slices and the two were really small thin slices. Great variety of food to excite the palate,i would want to go back to check out more tapas variety!
Helen S.
Tasca is my favourite restaraunt in Auckland. It has a nice ambience, service is exactly the way I like it, really great pizza (one of the best in town) an very tasty sangria. We usually share a pizza, calamari or chorizo tapa and 1 litre of sangria between two people. Dominion branch has a cute outdoor garden area, very atmospheric and romantic. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.  (Grabone deal is a great value).
Michelle Hwang
Meatballs were tasty and good texture. Beef salad also was nice, but the sauce on the top was too salty to me. Seafood rice was not as good as I thought with the price before, too less seafood and the fish was not fresh enough. Paid with a $25 for $50 voucher, so it was acceptable price.
Sherry
Service was good and fast, meals came out quick, as usual were huge portions. The food was okay but nothing exceptional. Nice relaxed ambience.
Allison Hamilton
Went with a group of 50 foreigners on their final stay in NZ. We had a preset Tapas menu. With a large group we wanted drinks to be paid as they went not left to the end of the evening but the manager said no they couldn't do that. We had two staff doing our service which was very very slow. Food was average, nothing exceptional. Service was very very slow. We booked for 6:30pm and the last plate of dessert came at 10pm. We had dishes all up, 5 savoury and 3 dessert. Not everyone got their desserts because they left early. They were short staffed even though this was booked weeks prior to evening. Paying the bill at the end of the night put a damper on the evening. If the food came out more frequently in 5 min gaps and if we could have paid for our drinks as we went then we wouldn't have had an issue at the end of the night. They should not take large groups if they can't offer good service.
Alienbabe
Nice staff and good service on what was a quiet night. <br/>We had emanadas - felt they were a little bland<br/>Calamari - ok, nothing to rave about, slightly oily<br/>2 wines <br/>Oxtails were - were nice and tasty<br/>Garlic bread<br/>Prawns- were ok but average <br/><br/>Total for 2 people $91<br/>On the whole the tapas meal was ok but nothing to rave about, I've had better tasting tapas. But they filled the gap. <br/>Not sure I would say this was a must eat at place. <br/> I would prefer Melba in cbd.
Taran
Really good food, I ordered a salad and it was really delicious. This is my second time here and enjoyed it again. Really fast service and friendly staff, a must visit for a true Spanish feeling while dining.
Breadzania
We came here for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the baked eggs and spanish eggs and they were both very generous with size and protein. Will definitely come back
Di
Awesome Spanish restaurant!!! I bought a breakfast voucher on Granone, which was a good value of money. I ordered moorish eggs and a glass of latte. The meatballs in moorish eggs tasted very delicious but a bit heavy for breakfast.
Iluv Pandas
Ordered the bacon and eggs benedict for<br/> brekkie and it was delicious. Service was great and I loved the atmosphere of the place. Overall, I highly recommend anyone to try it out.

Onethe eggs Bennie mission once again, this time went to Tasca, the place is awesome; cool vibe and great location. Purchased a voucher for $10 which got me $20 worth of food. Eggs Bennie was great, no faults, and at the price I payed for it was a dam bargain! Service was good. Will be trying this place again that's for sure!
J
So a Tapas bar with a grand total of 6 tapas on the menu. No paella but fish and chips, eggs Benedict, Turkish pizza and tagliatelle. It's a poor, pale imitation. Food is average. Service is a very loose term here an unapologetic in its delivery.
Karl Swart
I've been here a few times. The lamb shanks and oxtail are amazing. The churros are amazing. They even have a Greek night. My favourite place to dine at present.
Shannon T
I was pretty damn chuffed with the service and food here. Came here for a light lunch and ordered the soup from the El Cheapo menu (love that they have a menu specifically for this). It was deliciously hearty and my coffee was solid. Our waitress was lovely and actually responded in Spanish which was a nice touch. Trendy atmosphere and cool casual outdoor seating on the street - feeling the Spanish vibes! Will be going back ☺️
A
Had the Margherita- was absolutely delicious. The el cheapo menu on weekday is pretty reasonable compared to the full menu prices. Lovely staff.
Fiona
We went tonight after finishing 10 k pink walk , 5 of us we shared tapas was very tasty and filing , we enjoyed the food and would love to try brunch one day
Mat
As you walk in, this place definitely depicts a Mediterranean vibe, which is a good start when you're visiting a restaurant that specialises in Spanish food. <br/><br/>Quick summary; good service, good food = happy tummy - keen to try more things on the menu other than pizza. <br/><br/><br/><br/>

Came here for a friend’s birthday dinner during a weekday. The atmosphere in the evening here is super cozy and has a great vibe. On the night that we were there, they had live music playing and that really added to the experience. We had booked in advance so they had a table ready and waiting for us, although it wasn’t too busy that night. I didn’t get to try that many other items from the menu, but from the selection I did try, I would recommend the chorizo sausages & the croquetas which were both great. The chorizo was punchy and full of spicy flavours, but not overdone. Will have to try a few others from the menu next time!
Katrina Dodge
Came here with a small group for a coffee. Coffee was yummy and looking at the other tables I will definitely come here for a bite to eat aswell. Staff were friendly and the place had a really cool authentic vibe to it.
Claire Emily
This place is so good! Both times I have been there I've had the chicken wrap. Good sized meals and well priced considering lots of places in new market are over priced! Customer service is very good. It's quite busy whenever I walk past/ have been ,so bookings might be beneficial. Over all great place!
Miss2thfairy
Paella was overpriced for the disappointing quantity and quality. 34$ is not justified. However nice atmosphere and very pleasant staff. We also had the chorizo tapas which was also underwhelming.
Stevie Clutterbuck
Really great food, came here with a grab one voucher and you can't go wrong. Food was fast and delicious, service was good. Can't fault it!
Jim Lu
I forgot what these are called. Went there for lunch the other day, superb quality love the meatball thing, the bread was pretty nice, thought they might've made it themselves Not too overpowering. Pasta was up to decent standard. Definitely would go back again
Nicole Mae Flores
Came here with some friends for lunch and it tasted great. The interior was colourful and the vibe was alright. A little music would have made it even better. The food was great. I ordered calamari and it came with a side of shoestring chips and salad. But i highly recommend their spaghetti and meatballs as it was cheesy and the meatballs tasted amazing. The staff were welcomingamd very friendly. Overall, would definitely visit here again.
Belinda Mannion
I was disappointed with the high price, small serving size and average tasting food. $8 for a small amount of chips an aioli is too much. High drink prices too. I won't be going back.
AngeLi
I would give them credit for their nice and spanish feel interior, but i did not really enjoy my meal. I ordered the calamari. My partner liked their chorizo tapas though.
Jaya
I'm not very fond of Tasca's food, but their baklava and Turkish tea is quite nice. The decor is lively and there's tons of seating options. Whenever we shop at Newmarket, we find ourselves relaxing in one of their couches.

A great place in a very convenient location. The tapas is a typical preparation and is good. The ambience is great and staff is overall friendly. Will go again.
Megan Yang
we went here on a Wednesday's night, they are very busy. Service are not following up since customers are keep coming. The food are good, love the seafood pan rice:)
Tom
Been coming here for years, and it's been amazing every time. Great staff, food and even better service. Awesome friendly atmosphere and pretty much had everything on the menu.

Time and date: Weekend breakfast<br/><br/>Food and beverages ordered: tapas lunch(meatballs and chorizo on beans), french toast and cortado(coffee)<br/><br/>Environment: as expected, quite vibrant<br/><br/>Service: adequate<br/><br/>Costs: $25 per person <br/><br/>Will I return: personally prefered the dominion road branch <br/><br/>Comment: while the place is as expected, it was not extraordinary. I heard during dinner and supper the place is very vibrant and exciting.

Was absolutely starving after a hard days work and I decided to visit here with a close friend of mine for dinner today. Since we made early bookings, our seats were reserved and seated quite quickly. The overall ambience was great and was perfect to have a nice little chat with my friend. We ordered the patatas bravas, albondigas (spanish meat balls) and the croquetas for the tapas and Paella Mixta for the mains. The patatas bravas were perfectly cooked and the aioli sauce fitted perfectly. The meat balls in the albondigas were perfectly seasoned and sized but unfortunately, the salsa was a bit too bland for my liking. Pretty much could only taste the meatballs which is a shame because I love a good salsa. The croquetas were actually very delicious. The outside was crispy and the inside was flavourful and soft. Personally though, it was a littlt 'too' soft for my liking. However, perfectly round and definately worth ago. The highlight was the Paella Mixta which was perfectly cooked and with plenty of seafood. I LOVED the chorizos in the Paella and will possibly order the chorizos on their own next time. The downside is that it got a bit 'too' greasy near the end which meant that I couldn't finish it. Also, compared to the price, it's quite small portioned. The gentlemen sitting next to us ordered the calamari but had to order bread as well because of the small portions. But then, you wouldnt expect large portions for tapas in the first place. Overall, it's a little pricey but the flavours will deliver! Definately worth visiting this place!
Sheena
Always a good option for an early dinner after a mooch round newmarket. Relaxed atmosphere in an informal setting. Bit pricey but very tasty tapas. Well worth a visit.

Zomato notes this restaurant is BYO but last night (Saturday)  it was not? However food and service were quick and good. Great spot for after dinner bite.

I love Tasca. I have been here on various occasions and I am always very happy with the food, service and prices. I would highly recommend the seafood linguine. Tasca has a lovely warm atmosphere at a nice location on Nuffield St; it is always a pleasure to be there!
Mel Cope
Visited Tasca on a Saturday night with a few friends - absolutely loved it.  The food was amazing, and the feel/vibe of the place was very bright colourful.  Staff were super friendly. The patrons were entertained by a talented Flamenco guitarist which soon had everyone up dancing - a few Sangrias helped us with that. The four of us ordered 8 tapas which did the trick and left a lil room for some dessert.  Definitely recommend booking as it does get busy. Our new favourite local restaurant!
Wokka
Went to Tasca with a Grabone voucher and the staff knew this and I suspect that's why food was so BAD ! When I paid full price 1 week ago was fine. <br/><br/>The seafood in various dishes was especially bad, being overcooked and not fresh. We returned the calamarie because it was soooo rubbery and the new plate was no better. The bakalava and turkish delight for desert was not that impressive either. The oxtail was fine even if portion was abit small. The seafood paella still had the sharp horns on the head of the prawn and not trimmed (abit tacky), the small piece of fish was over-cooked and not fresh... <br/><br/>Needless to say I will NOT be coming to Tasca again with a voucher or on full price, and will be telling all my friends that for a Spanish restaurant in the heart of fancy Newmarket there are way better other places to spend their time/ money.
Aimee R
Lovely place with a great atmosphere. However my only experience here wasn't great. I ordered bacon and eggs on toast and received beans?! Then when I told the waiter he was totally confused and didn't know what I was talking about, even though he took my order. I eventually got my order but no apology. It is a popular place so I might give it another try when I'm back in town.

I first tried Tasca at the end of last year when we had a staff function. We tried most of the tapas (my favourite being the patatas bravas) and had a buffet set up complete with paellas, salads and Turkish Pide bread. It was a great night - the restaurant had a lovely ambience, the service was good and most importantly, the food was delicious!!! <br/><br/>So delicious that I really wanted to come back and try their lunch menu. When a recent Grabone deal popped up, it was the perfect opportunity! <br/><br/>I booked a table for two ahead of time and I'm so glad I did! We arrived at 1pm on a beautiful sunny Saturday and the place was absolutely packed! Our table was right by the huge windows that open out onto Nuffield Street. They have ample seating, with a great indoor/outdoor flow and it definitely felt like we were in a European city - such a cool vibe! <br/><br/>We ordered a Mojito ($14.50), the Mussels ($18.50) and the Moorish Eggs with Turkish Pide Bread ($17.50). The mojito was very refreshing on the hot summers day and instead of being overly sweet, it was minty and had a good amount of lime in it. <br/><br/>My Mum had the mussels and she thoroughly enjoyed them - the flavours were a perfect balance of garlic, chilli and lemon. <br/><br/>The Moorish eggs were delicious as well. After seeing many Instagram photos of the Moorish eggs, I just knew I had to order them! At $17.50, one would think it is too steep, but it was actually very filling! The dish consists of 3 eggs and 6 meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, plus Turkish Pide bread on the side. It was very yummy and it would make a great comfort meal in the winter! <br/><br/>The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Highly recommend Tasca - it's a great place for all occasions whether it be a function, a birthday, a date night or best of all, a lazy Sunday afternoon!

If you're stuck in New Market for the day and bored of seeing Remuera housewives frolicking in their fluoro Nike attire or the hordes of teenage girls hanging at the cool place to be, head into Tasca for a Spanish meal respite. My favourite dish is the calamares; in unbattered, abundant form, it is lightly spiced and pan fried, giving a flavorful aroma and slightly chewy (in a good way) texture. It is well accompanied by crunchy fries, a piquant homemade aioli and green salad. In other meals; their chicken wrap is pretty good but nothing special, and eggs Benedict a tad salty. I enjoy the Barcelona posters canvassing the walls, matched by the rustic, wooden furniture, though service can be mediocre at times.

This place was amazing I loved it , went for breakfast staff were super cool and friendly ordered egg something it was incredible forgot to photograph it, DeLish, will be going back for sure
Trin
Came here for lunch the other day with my friend, not sure if it's because we ordered the wrong thing but it was pretty average. We ordered the tapa dish . Small portion, not what we expected at all. The table next to us ordered the chicken wrap and it looked amazing. Will definitely try that next time!

I met 4 relatives for lunch on Friday at Tasca. The restaurant /tapas bar has a warm friendly atmosphere and the staff are most welcoming and helpful. I was tempted by the Friday special of $10 paella (and by a number of other items on the menu) but finally chose the Moorish Eggs - a variation on a Moroccan classic - which was mildly spiced and delicious. Others chose the Spanish Omelette, the Spaniard (scrambled egg), and 2 Tasca Grills. All were pronounced tasty and a satisfying serving for lunch - as the empty plates testified. We did manage to share some Baklava (served with ice cream) - not as flaky as some, not as sweet as some, but a satisfactory end to our lunch. I hope to return and sample their menu further.

Tasca is one of my favorite places to have coffee/tea time in New Market. It's one of the coolest places to hang around in Nuffield Street. The desserts are delightful and I love their tea as well!!! <br/>This is also a great place to have either a "me time"or catch up with friends.  They have cute couches to sit in and very comfy too. The ambiance is just great! Also the staff are friendly too.  I love staying for a good hour or two in this lovely place!
Han
We walked by and came for curious and we were happy with it. Very nice place. Waitress lady is very nice. Dont know much about the menu but that pizza and churros is so yummy. Will come back for sure. ^^ . Yummy yum yum.
Ian Littleworth
We were after something Spanish and stumbled across this place and what a great decision to go inside for lunch...in fact we went back the next day for brunch.<br/>The service was friendly and very efficient. There was a good selection of tapas to satisfy our craving for Spanish food but also lots of other options as well.<br/>The cafe was busy but with a nice ambience so felt vibrant without being noisy or feeling that you needed to rush through our food.
Esther Consedine
Just had the most amazing eating and relaxing experience at Tasca! I'm on work business and eating alone and find myself on a couch, in front of the log burner - glass of Rioja in one hand, book in the other....until that us, my slow roasted lamb shoulder arrives! I can't stop eating its so delicious! All that is left is a clean bone! Thank you, what a lovely experience!
Emily
I love this place. It is a bit expensive but you would expect that in new market. Has a great atmosphere an the food and drinks are great. Such nice decor, seems to be a really clean place. Staff are lovely. I always take my friends there when I am planning to meet up with them. Love taking people from out of Auckland here. Would go here all the time if I could afford to!
James Lee
The Sangria tasted really like grape juice mixed with oranges and apples ... The alcohol was close to zero. When I asked the waiter, she said ouw yeah, that is Sangria ... it should be like that ... I said, hang on, I have been in Spain last year and I know how should Sangria taste like ... She said ouw, our Sangria is fresh , that's why the alcohol is not that strong ... Maybe the Sangria that you had in Spain was not fresh ... I was like ... lol ... had no interest to discuss more ... <br/><br/>The tapas was OK ... a bit expensive and not really authentic ...
James Tum
The food was really delicious and the service was incredibly fast. We got four tapas and the desserts and they were all fantastic. In particular, the calamari was very well prepared. Can't comment that much on the value as we had a half price voucher but it was a fantastic meal with great service.
Luke Crowley
This restaurant has been one of the best ever best breakfast I have had out of home. Everything fantastic. Perfect coffee. amazing calamari was just perfectly cooked. and the eggs benedict was the best I have ever had. if you want an amazing restaurant bar this the perfect place to come
Amanda Barry
Went for tapas and drinks with a group of 5 last night, lovely staff and lovely atmosphere. We ordered pretty much every tapa on the menu between us, they were well presented but we found them all to be very under flavored and over priced. One of our friends had a pizza and they said that was quite average also. Nothing really to rave about food-wise sorry, for that sort of quality for that money I will not be going back. Maybe being in Europe spoilt out taste buds ;)

Went to Tasca on a Sunday for a casual catch up. With our coffee, my friend and I had a savoury scone each which was surprisingly delicious (I secretly wanted another one). Because the coffee was so nice, we ended up staying for another. Good atmosphere, good coffee, nice staff!

Really great!. We went for a birthday party and had a treat! Real Spanish tapas, good selection of wine, even live music. Much more than we expected. Authentic atmosphere that didn't cost the earth. Already looking forward to next excuse to visit<br/><br/>Jason Prendergast.

Went there Saturday morning for breakfast! Bought some daily voucers for a meal and a hot drink! The staff was very friendly and helpfull! Service was very good. The breakfast was absolutely amazing! We have a omelet and a big breakfast (which we shared). They had the most fantastic mushroom that I have tasted in a very long time! It is a restaurant that is really worth while visiting! The setting of the restaurant was good and a lovely place to eat at!

I revisited Tasca Newmarket recently after a very disappointing meal with a large group when we ordered tapas platters.<br/>This time we were a group of three and the lamb and oxtail meals were beautiful.<br/>The service was very attentive and there was a nice touch with complimentary churros with our hot drinks at the end of our meal.<br/>Hopefully my previous experience was a one off for the restaurant.

We were a party of 5 last night and had a lovely time at Tasca in celebration of a colleague's birthday. The service was prompt and friendly, our waitress was very helpful in advising us of menu items. <br/><br/>For tapas we got: Calamari, Grilled haloumi, Dolma (stuffed bell peppers), mussels (listed in order of my preference). All the tapas were delicious! Flavours were fabulously authentic and prepared to perfection! <br/><br/>For mains, we ordered: Seafood + chicken Paella, Margarita pizza and the stuff aubergine (can't remember the technical name). These were also pretty amazing! <br/><br/>It was a very good night, the only suggestion I have for the restaurant is to maybe think about some vegetarian options of the paella.

Wow, just wow! We have always enjoyed the food from Tasca, both Newmarket and Dominion Rd, but honestly this was one of the best experiences we have had there. I am lactose intolerant, and my oh my was I taken care of! The service was absolutely fantastic! Friendly, warm, relaxed, and normally when I go out, I feel a like a burden on the staff, but was not made to feel this way at all. There was a guitarist, and some of the staff and customers danced, the atmosphere was perfect for this cold weather! The portion sizes and the flavours are one of the things that always draw us back to this place. The portions are more than enough, and fully satisfying, but we love the heartiness of the food too. I had the oxtail, which fell off the bone and the cabbage just set the entire dish off! My partner had the Paella, which was as always, magnificent. This was accompanied by a beautiful riojan tempranillo. I cannot say enough good things about this place honestly! For a good night out, relaxed and cosy atmosphere and just the best food ever in the whole world, go to Tasca in Newmarket, you seriously will not be disappointed!

Grumpy and rude waiters, slow service (2 hours for a set menu for 2 adults) and food was average. Left without having one of our desserts as it took far too long to come out. Had a message left the next day by owner/manager Julio to which we called him back on Wednesday and left a message for him but we are yet to hear back from him.<br/><br/>Food:- Average<br/>Service:- Bad<br/>Children Friendly:- You got to be kidding me!!! Our girls were so bored, nothing to help entertain them.<br/><br/>Recommendation:- Never!

Had a great night at Tasca. The food was just lovely. The chorizo tapas was delish though the haloumi one was a bit plain and bland. Lamb Cordero for main was awesome too. The cream caramel dessert was perfect. Food here is not cheap but it was a special occasion so didn't mind the prices. The waitress was very friendly and looked like she genuinely loved her job and wanted to be there (not a common sight). Overall Tasca lived up to my expectations and I will surely come back.

Went for the 1st time tonight to watch the flamenco dancers, but must say myself and 2 friends were impressed with the dancers, the service, the lovely pizzas and desserts. Next time will try a main, will definitely be back soon, not expensive!!

I really enjoy coming here, have been for dinner and breakfast and both were delicious. Can recommend the haloumi, oxtails, moorish eggs. The service both times was excellent too. I can't wait to go back!<br/>Mains are a little expensive - but they are big portions. I will probably order a tapa and a dessert next time, so I am not completely stuffed!

Purely by chance we were passing Tasca the other night looking for a place to eat before going to the movies.<br/><br/>I have lived in Spain and enjoy Spanish food and sherry in particular so we thought we would give it a try and were very pleased we did.<br/><br/>I was a little surprised at the fact that they had only one sherry house available, I would have preferred more selection but the fino I had was excellent and my partner made a note of the beer he had as he liked it so much. <br/><br/>The service was knowledgeable, fast and friendly. We ordered 5 tapas, just right. The standout was the red cabbage - fabulous flavours and a dish that will be remembered for sometime. The whole sardines were also excellent as were the prawns with chorizo and the croquettes, only pork belly was a bit disapointing.<br/><br/>We'll be back again I'm sure(got to have more of that cabbage), hopefully by then they'll have a bigger selection of sherries so I can stay longer !

Went for dinner and ordered two tapas dishes - haloumi cheese, stuffed peppers, and pizza del pueblo. Very disappointed - the flavours were bland and forgettable. Service good, but won't be going back

The food is always pretty delicious. I have ordered almost everything on the menu. My favourite would have to be the kumru burger with chorizo sausage and the chicken wrap (both on the lunch menu). The staff are also friendly and polite. The only downside is that my coffee is often lukewarm and not hot.

Fantastic food. Friendly, very fast service, and generous portion sizes. My wife and I were in the mood for European food with more options than Italian. A great variety of European food, including Italian, but also Spanish and Greek. Highly recommended!

The food was very average for a not overly busy Sunday brunch, I would have expected a bit more. It is rare for us to try something different such as a Spanish breakfast but we thought why not! We ordered our meals and also a bowl of fries to come out before our meals. I know it's only fries but half were literally cold and the other half fresh. We had no choice but to say something. I found this very odd they would give us half cold/old fries with some fresh ones?? The coffee was great and the other meals (omelette and moorish eggs) were mediocre. Flavours were very bland for a Spanish restaurant, needs to have more Spanish influence in the kitchen. Front of house staff were excellent.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice now – once for breakfast and another for dinner. I enjoyed both experiences. The atmosphere is really good in here and the décor gives it an authentic feel. It is always relatively busy and gives the place a fun vibe. <br/>The service is very good and always feel very well attended to. The staff were friendly and attentive.<br/>I find it a little pricey and doesn’t have the widest variety for breakfast – you either have some variety of eggs or pastry.<br/>I enjoyed my dinner of seafood fettuccine but wasn't blown away by flavour. My partner order paella which was very over cooked. <br/>Overall I enjoy coming here and am happy to recommend it.

So I have only just got around to writing a review for this place.... <br/>Went here with some friends last week.. Was totally excited to eat some Spanish food.. got there and were greeted and seated quite quickly and given menu's and water.. Which was awesome and I was impressed especially since I worked in the hospitality industry not long ago...<br/>But then what seemed like every two minutes the waitress would come and ask if we were ready to order even though we had already told her that we would let her know when we were ready to order as we were still waiting for a friend... but we ordered drinks and fries.. But while taking our orders she tried to make small talk with us which would have been fine if everything she said didn't sound like an insult. Which to be honest really took me by surprise. <br/>Anywho... We all had a look at the menu and thought " ooooo these things sound amazing... interesting even" .. Even though the waitress could see we were still deciding she still kept asking if we wanted to order. She bought over the fries and asked we were ready to order.. AGAIN.... By now i was getting a bit peeved off... Anyway the girls ordered their things. I ordered the Croquetas Spanish crumbed, fried chicken &amp; bacon morsels with aioli ($10.50) and Chilli Prawns - Gambas al Pil Pil garlic &amp; chilli prawns in a cazuelita ($18.50).. both of which ad reasonable prices considering the location of the restaurant. But three little Croquetas for that much? Really? Especially ones that are dry and bland?? Spanish food is meant to be full of flavor.... The prawns.. Tasted pretty good! BUT 4 prawns and a prawn head for $18.50 and really tiny pieces of turkish bread?... My friend ordered the Tortilla de Patatas which was bland and no presented nicely... we were offered the dessert menu's but we kindly declined and we were given the "evils" look by that waitress... Was uncalled for.. To be fair the food was alright... but service was not so good.. we were then over charged for our bill and we only realised after we had already left.. $260 for tapas.. Not going there again... Maybe someone else will have a better experience then us.

Been here twice- used to go to the Durham lane one, until we got sick of the abysmal service.<br/>This one has great service. Its a bit pricy, for what you get, and the food isn't really all that. Its not an authentic Spanish experience, lets be clear about that- its a general med melting pot. I have no particular gripes-its probably the best place I know in Newmarket. Why would I not rate it higher? Well, it just doesn't make you walk out feeling wow. On the other hand, I remember it and would go there again for the cafe con leche and 'cheap' Argentinian wine.

I visited Tasca on the weekend with some friends. No sooner had we sat down we were"pestered" by the staff. This was constant until we ordered our food. Not really a chance to talk or even look at the menu.<br/>Anyway entree/tapas ordered and pretty poor to be fair. <br/>We then ordered a jug of Sangria and I would like to know the alcohol content as it didn't seem to have much in comparison to others I have had, especially for $35.00.<br/>Mains were a bit better, average to good.<br/>At the end of the day I am rating on the experience taste and value for money. Our bill for 4 people was $230.00 and I think that pretty much say's it all.

We visited Tasca in Newmarket as a treat for our daughters 13th birthday. It was a bit of a trek across town using 'Auckland public transport' as we were staying over in Albert St, in the CBD. However, the trip was well worth the effort, the food was exemplary in choice, quality, preparation and portion size. The staff were excellent and a credit to the proprietor, they were attentive and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our experience. I would highly recommend this establishment to all and we will definitely be returning (I cant ever forget the Cordero lamb shoulder roasted in the woodfired oven, delicious!).

I went to Tasca with a large group of 10. We went because they advertised as being BYO. When we arrived they told us that the BYO was only on certain days. Very unimpressed that this was not made known to us when we booked and asked if the restaurant was BYO. I ordered a pizza was very sub par - burnt and quite tasteless. Two friends ordered some pasta which they thought was rather bland. However a couple of friends ordered some tapas which they thought wasn't bad. But not exceptional. Overall not really a nice dining experience.<br/>The only thing that I was impressed about was the atmosphere was quite nice. But food and service definitely lacking!

Having not enjoyed my experience at Tasca in the city, I was not massively enthused about the idea of going to the Nuffield Street branch. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. There is nothing to blow you away on the menu, but what we had was tasty and the staff were very friendly. Oddly quiet for a Friday night, but that's Newmarket for you (the rest of the suburb was just as dead). Recommended.

Really didn't like it. The restaurant location and space itself was alright, but food is poor and not even tapas in its portions... How can you call fries 'tapas'? Service was okay but at the end of the day you got to serve decent food and that's sadly lacking in this restaurant.

Tasca is a lovely place with a nice atmosphere. We found the staff very helpful and friendly. We ordered a variety of tapas and desserts. The food was o.k, the oxtail, meat balls and the fried haloumi were nice. The tortilla seemed to be a day old and reheated, unfortunately burnt on the top. For desserts we had flan (a sort of creme caramel) and chocolate cake. The flan was enjoyable, the cake seemed to be a little on the dry side, possibly because it was not freshly made on the day. Overall, not a bad place to visit.

I was very disappointed in the way the manager handled a minor complaint (food returned because it was overcooked - calamari). So much so that I felt the need to post this review here. Worst experience I have ever had. Waiting staff were very nice and did their best and the food that wasn't overcooked was OK. There are many other restaurants in Newmarket and if you want a good overall dining experience I recommend trying them all first.

Dreadful place. Food overpriced, and decidedly below average. When I sent a dish back (the first time I’ve done so in years) the owner/manager came to our table and got hopelessly aggressive about the whole thing! Unreal. My advice? Keep walking – there are plenty of other restaurants on that street!

Very friendly, great atmosphere and lovely food! Have been back several times and will go back again.

Menu is getting less and less Spanish and more and more Kiwi which is hardly a good thing. Service starting to slip as well. Great location uninterested owners I guess.

I`m originally from Spain and I don`t normally eat at Tapas bars out of my country, but this one is very acceptable and the decoration an environment totally get me home every time I visit Tasca Newmarket. It`s a little pricey to me but if you want good food you have to pay for it. If you want Spanish tapas is the place to go.

We walk past Tasca almost everyday yet had never tried it so when a grabone voucher popped up I was eager to check out what they had to offer us. <br/><br/>We started with a drink - for him an espresso, for me a hot chocolate. Both were great and I personally loved the addition of the little chocolate hearts with the hot chocolate. <br/><br/>To eat - for him, the Tasca Grill, consisting of bacon, eggs any style, sausage, mushroom and turkish bread. The boy was very impressed with his grill and really enjoyed the potato's which he decided must have been fried somehow as they were that good. <br/><br/>I decided to try the tapa's for lunch which was served with bread (awesome) and hummus (awesome), I tried the chicken and bacon croquettes which were different but I really enjoyed the aioli that came with them. I also had the patates brava's which were nice as well. The highlight for me was definitely the bread and hummus! <br/><br/>We had a few dollars left of our voucher so decided to try a couple of cakes from the cabinet as well, I wanted the Alfajores but so did everyone else that morning as they had sold out when I ordered so we went with a slice of the chocolate brownie and some baklava which the boy had never tried before. The brownie was rich and decadent and awesome, it had almonds in it which I really liked as well, the boy was quite taken with the cream! The baklava was super super sweet and the boy couldn't finish his piece, you couldn't eat more than a couple of those tiny squares as they are so sweet. I do love the look and taste of baklava but wouldn't order it again as it just was far too sweet (and I have a major sweet tooth!).

With a lovely Spanish vibe, Tasca offers a bit of European charm in the middle of Nuffield Street, New Market. Serving a good selection of tapas and meals, Tasca has something for everyone. I was here a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed my Barcelona Salad which was a mesclun salad with slices of spicy chorizo, pickled artichokes, gherkins, crispy potatoes and a boiled egg. The salad was tossed with a creamy garlic aioli. The portion was really good for $19.50 and the various flavours of the different ingredients worked well together. We were served by a lovely waitress who was interactive and friendly and I absolutely loved the vibe of the restaurant. Very reminisces of my time in Barcelona!<br/><br/>For more reviews, please check out my blog - http://mydiningjourney.wordpress.com
