Review Vue Restaurant - Auckland Central

Karen Perese
Atmosphere and decor, fantastic, really cool views, service spot on, fast but there weren't many people there. Food was ok, tasty and good portion size. Chicken dish we had, the chicken was quite dry unfortunately. Had an early sitting so half price. Happy experience. Would I come back? Yes definitely. Try some other dishes.

Vue is nicely furnished, has separate lounge, bar, and restaurant areas, a short but tasty menu, and of course the titular view. We brought 2 kids along for a family birthday dinner on a weeknight, and it was quiet and pleasant. They do have a kids' menu. The adults' menu is a bit pricey for the small sizes - you'll need a couple of dishes to be full - but I guess you're paying for the view.

Came with 1st table, so it was great eating dinner early, and very fast service. Food was delicious, they have a small menu but know how to do everything on the menu perfectly. Very high quality food and decent portion sizes. Worth coming back to for special occasions.

Amazing food and great service! Had my boyfriend's birthday celebration here. Was a wonderful experience. The service was a bit slow. But the food came right away after we told them that we have a show to catch.

Fantastic fine dinning place here. At the top of hotel, you can see a whole habor view when dinning. Clean and bright space with a liitle oriental element. Lovely food in fusion style and artistic decoration. Salmon with takiyaki style and japanese soy sauce. Tapioka Tofu, quite different with Agedashi tofu, must try. Grilled fish with itallian dried tomato, special combination. Friendly staff with perfect service.

Delicious prawn curry. Everything else was excellent too, so too was the service. Window views were stunning. Last time I came was 5 years ago. But now it is even better. Will be back again. Truffle fries tasted crunchy and delicious. Service: 4/5 Presentation: 5/5 Environment: 5/5 Food Quality: 5/5 Food Quantity: 5/5 Price per person: $50-$100

Probably one of the greatest views of the habour in the City! To top it off, the menu is bursting with options and flavors to try. On this recent visit I was hosting diplomats from two foreign nations and when deciding a location I didnt hesitate to choose Vue. I decided of all the great options, lamb and roasted cauliflower was jumping out to me! The rack of lamb cooked perfectly medium rare and couples with the roasted cauliflower was the right combo! Try some of their fries drizzled with truffle oil if you want a starter! Tell them I sent you! JL

We had a lovely meal here, only fault was my hapuka skin wasn't crisp :( apart from that it was great! Service great & nice views!

Absolutely amazing food, great service, will be back again.

Beautiful views, wonderful service. I had the squid salad and my guest had the ceasar salad we had the sourdough bread. A couple of beers and coffee and tea to finish a casual business lunch. We were there for 2 hours and had great service with pressure or hassle. Food was excellent and total bill was $99.20.

Isaac our waiter was fantastic!-a real credit/asset to his employer. Wonderful ambience here with stunning views of Auckland harbour & the city-even more special as day light faded away. Our meals were stunning! Chicken moist, Scotch Steak cooked to perfection, side dishes extremely fresh & crisp. Highly recommended, we will most certainly return here.

I came here for dinner with friends for a birthday. The menu is a little small but the meals were fabulous. Very delicious. We provided a cake and the staff were great in delivering it. The staff were also very patient with one member of our group who was being a bit demanding and rude. The restaurant is also laid out really well and we had a bit of a view over the harbour. Would definately recommend this restaurant.

Valentines dinner. View was good, not as spectacular as I was hoping. Ambience was also nothing too special. It’s evident that it needs a bit of a refurbish. Food wise, it also was not up to the quality I was expecting it to be. The sourdough bread was divine. But the beef stew I got (I forgot the name)... although tender and well cooked, had an acquired taste to it. Not bad but it also didn’t jive with my palette. Partner’s steak dinner drizzled with truffle butter seemed scrumptious. Service was excellent though. Everyone was attentive. Maybe it was just me as I was recovering from a strep throat but the overall experience was average. I would still come back - but only with a firsttable voucher again :)

3 people ate here. One of the people had a birthday celebration here. The food was beautiful. The surroundings however were very outdated and old. Clean though, but very old. What really shocked me was the dessert menus were filthy. They were stained with smudges of food from past diners meals. This was disgusting. We pointed this out. The waiter took them away, however these menus were spotted at the cash register. I’ll guarantee they will be used again. Yuk.....

Went here to celebrate my birthday with my friends. Our server was so nice and polite and didn't mind us staying for around 3 hours 'cause we had such a good time catching up and enjoying our food. The ambience is very classy. If you're lucky to catch the sunset, make sure you take some pictures. The clam linguini was delicious and the creme brulee too. Been here twice and will visit again soon!

Came here for a birthday dinner using First Tables and everything went very smoothly.

We had amazing service from our waiter. He sorted out any issues we had instantly and made sure that everyone was happy and made conversation throughout the night.

The food was decent for the price. I loved the Fish Crudo (entree) that we ended up getting another one. The Wagyu beef tataki was also amazing, and everyone loved it.
For my main, I got the wagyu cheeseburger, which was cooked perfectly and definitely not something I would normally get at a restaurant like this, but it was super filling. We also got the Scotch Filet - unfortunately, it was overcooked (asked for medium rare got a medium). The waiter offered multiple times to take it back to the kitchen, but we thought it would be too much of a hassle for everyone.

Overall we had a lovely time here, definitely a worth it place to come especially with first tables. The place had a nice vibe and absolutely amazing service.

Service: 5/5
Food: 4/5
Ambience: 4/5

Came here for my mums birthday a couple weeks back, and all i can say is i would NEVER come back. The service here is so terrible genuinely ruined my mums birthday. Nothing was even photo worthy to post or even get a photo of. We even left earlier then we usually do because we didn’t want to be there anymore. We waited 15 minutes for them to bring us a bottle of wine which the waiter put something on to make sure it wouldn’t flat, yet it broke and we couldn’t even pour our wine and this happened about 1/2 way through the bottle. Then the waiter took another 15 minutes to get us more wine and only came back with one glass?? Was so outraged and when we went to pay for our meal ALL of the waiters scattered and so tried the manager so that he wouldn’t have to deal with our complaints leaving only one young waiter having to apologise for the whole staffs behaviour! Definitely do not recommend coming here

Amazing restaurant with excellent service. We went here last week for our anniversary. The food was DIVINE and the service to match it. This was last week Wednesday, thank you so much to the staff for making our anniversary so memorable!!

Celebrated our wedding anniversary at Vue! Amazing food, excellent service and beautiful views. Found them competitively priced. We started our evening with the bread and burnt butter (heavenly!). We shared the salmon, which was very tasty but a tiny portion - definitely not a mains size. Hubby had the lamb shoulder which he reckons was the best slow cooked meat he’s ever had! Something crunchy would have completed the meal perfectly so he had my fries. I had the scotch steak which was good, not as amazing as the lamb but can’t fault it and we shared the cauliflower. For dessert we shared the coconut creme brûlée and the key lime meringue - both were very fantastic. Can’t wait to go back and try next seasons menu!

Was wonderful place with nice view:) kind staff with great service. I had 3 main with lamb, beef, and king prawn . Were okay for 2 pple haha

I started going to this restaurant when I would stay at the Grand Mercure for work. I enjoy this restaurant and it’s view so much I head back there when staying at other hotels. The food is alway delish and they have a decent wine selection. Last nights dinners was particularly good. I had the lamb shoulder and the cauliflower with Gouda cheese which was massive. The guy at the table next to me order the lamb as well and he commented how good it was so I knew when mine arrived it’d be great... and it was. Go check this place out as well as their bar.

Went for a Valentine's day dinner with my gf.
I wasn't expecting much but I was positively suprised.
The location is amazing and the service one of the best.
We have the truffle and parmesan fries for starters, the beef tataki and baked fish for mains.
They didn't disappoint us, quite the opposite.
Flavours very well balanced, the tataki beef was soft( just the way I like it) and the baked fish didn't had any flaws...just perfect.
Overall, a very good experience and a most likely see you soon.

Vue restaurant have prefect deco and view. Every dishes were delicious and service were warm and friendly. Love the king prawn red curry the best, i even ate all the sauce

The staff were very friendly but not very good. Drinks order took 30 mins to arrive after several reminders/requests. Then the order was wrong. This was a grab one voucher and set menu. Four of us dining and three entrees and mains came out and we had to ask for the fourth one each time. Dessert choices x4 but did not have one of the choices that x3 ordered. Nice view. Terrible service. Food unimaginative - steak nice but no side dish or vegetables. Offered water on arrival but was not told this was chargeable nor was tap water offered as an option. Would not go back.

Ambience is warm, welcoming and romantic. Good for intimate dinner dates. Choose the sea view and experience a sunset dinner with your choice of wine. Food is so, so. My husband and I were already full when we were invited for dinner here. So we just ordered one main and chips — everything split in to two. The pork belly is delicious but not a wow factor. Service is just okay; the Filipino staff is friendly and nice. They also forgot to serve my chips. We already finished my half pork belly when the chips came in. We also tried their lamb from my friend’s leftover, and it is surprisingly goooooood! Serving of the lamb is quite huge and good for sharing. Lamb is the only recommendation worth bragging about the restaurant. Overall, we’re happy! Who wouldn’t be when someone paid for our dinner. Haha!
Cristina
I don't know where to start. Maybe from the very bad food! Since the chef was changed the food is not even edible, dry fish with smell of expired fish, very chewy lamb that not even my knife couldn't cut it, brown rice with absolutely no taste and the list can continue.
The presentation was actually nice but it's only the looks, flavours are non existing.
The only constant is BAD service. We literally asked for a menu after 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come although there was only one other table which had been already served. This was the thrid time when we try it but definitely the last.

I came here for my birthday lunch in January in the middle of a storm, we came in flustered from the rain and I was holding my birthday bouquet. The staff was extremely helpful even taking care of my flowers for me, ambiance is amazing and we were given a seat by the glass windows and the view was spectacular! Food was great too! Kudos to the team at Vue Restaurant, would definitely go back again!

Came here on a Saturday evening. We were seated at one of their spacious couch booths for just the two of us, which I thought was lovely. We had a nice view overlooking North Shore.

For Entree we got Game Fish Ceviche and Beef Carpaccio.
For Mains we got 300g Angus Ribeye Fillet w/ Spring Carrot sides and Chicken Breast.
For Dessert we got the Hazelnut Praline Mousse and Orange Chocolate Truffle Tart.
We also got red wine.

We requested for entrees and mains to come together so we could share and taste a bit of everything.
• The carpaccio was a bit bland and lacking in flavour. The scoop of sour cream/yoghurt also didn’t add much to the dish, and had a doughy rubbery consistency.
• The Ceviche was better, having sea salt sprinkled and a fresh drizzle of coconut and lime dressing. Still missing in something though.
• Ribeye (medium rare) was cooked nicely but lacked in flavour. We had to ask for salt and pepper to save it. The bone marrow was nice but also lacked seasoning. Bread crumbs sprinkled on top of it added to the texture.
• Chicken breast was slightly over cooked and a bit dry. Sitting on a bed of pasta and a cheese-based sauce, it was too greasy for my liking. Nevertheless the sauce added to the flavour but nothing amazing. The stuffed chorizo was a nice touch and a pleasure to eat though.
• Sad to say my favourite was probably the side of carrots; perfectly roasted so that they were tender inside and slightly crisp on the outside. Perfectly seasoned and was the perfect accompaniment to the dishes.

Service was good, albeit it took me 2 days and 6 phone calls to finally get through to the restaurant line and make a reservation.
We were predominantly looked after by a Filipino waiter who was friendly and helpful. Interesting to note that all staff were males. Water-filling was attentive and appropriate too.
Overall, lacking in finer details in food but ambience is nice enough to compensate.

Food: 6/10
Price: 8/10
Ambience: 9/10
Service: 8/0
Entrees began with beef, fish, and salmon. My personal favourite was the salmon. It tasted fresh and the sauce was really good. For one of the mains, we had pasta and chicken. The pasta was creamy but the chicken didn't taste very tender. Another main was the fish. It was served with black rice and mushrooms. The mushrooms were very sweet and the black rice helped to even it out the sweetness. The other main was the pork belly. I usually don't eat pork belly but this one tasted amazing. It was juicy and the meat was tender! The last main was the steak. It was medium rare and cooked extremely well as I could taste the smoked flavour even though it wasn't burnt. I highly recommend the medium rare steak. We ended with desserts. To me, the chocolate tart and mousse was too sweet for my preference. Unlike the creme brulee which was creamy and not too sweet. The mint ice cream that came with the chocolate mousse was one of my favourites as I could taste a creamy dairy texture inside it. The fries came late but was as a very side to our mains. It was a great way to finish the meal.

My partner and I dined at Vue on a Saturday night.

Restaurant is nice with an excellent view of the harbor. Staff are also friendly.

Food was disappointing and overall lacked flavour. We ordered the carpaccio, ceviche, steak and onion tart. The steak was cooked to how we ordered just needed alot more seasoning. The onion tart had a nice creamed spinach sauce but the onion tart was lacking seasoning and slightly undercooked. Side of carrots were actually seasoned but sad as the thicker carrots were undercooked.

Dessert was nice. Gingerbread parfait was good. I would have liked even more gingerbread flavour.

It wasn't bad but I expected better for a hotel restaurant with an amazing view.

This was a very poor dining experience due to severe service problems. Drinks incorrect, food slow, bread very stale, meat not cooked as requested, wait staff undertrained and condescending. Amazing views, safe for one beverage but wouldn’t go for a meal.

Had an amazing Father's Day breakfast. The team were so helpful and friendly. Could not fault both the food or the team. Thanks for making our day.
We went for father's day buffet, as soon as you come out the elevator and get seated you can't help but be blown away by the breath taking view, which was a great start to our family outing. The politeness of the hosts and waitresses was very inviting, but the highlight was definitely the food...the steak and oyster pie was my favourite main and the mango and coconut mousse just devine! Definitely looking forward to coming back here.

We had a three course meal. Ordered the venison and salmon for entree. The salmon had mint jelly on it which didn't really make sense and didn't compliment the dish at all. The venison on the other had was beautiful. For main we had the lamb cutlets with polenta and also the venison loin. The cutlets and the loins were well done to the days! The waitress didn't really ask how we would like our meat and served it well done as a result. For dessert I had the banana Tarte Tatin and Belgium chocolate with raspberry parfait. The only good thing about the desserts were the ice cream. Also DO NOT try the chai latte. It's basically just frothy milk served in the smallest cup imaginable!!!! What a waste!!!
The view however was spectacular! And that's about it!

I went here last night with my work colleagues. We were all really impressed with the hotels upgrades and the view from the restaurant is stunning! Plenty of seating in the restaurant and they also have a separate bar area.

The service is impeccable! Every one was very friendly and helpful when asked questions. Our waters were always topped up, plates cleared and courses came without a fault.

The downside of the evening however was the food. It was beautifully presented however the dishes just weren't amazing. I had the chicken entree (along with the rest of my colleagues) we all agreed that it was overly sweet for a savoury dish and the chicken with the skin on was weird as it was just slimy and there. For main I had the lamb rack. The lamb was cooked beautifully it was what it was served with that was the let down. Polenta had no flavour, the carrot aspect was just plain weird in texture and taste.

Overall it was a nice evening out however I probably wouldn't come back again as there are plenty of other places to go to that serve amazing food in Auckland.

Went on a very quiet evening..Were seated by the window which i had requested. Service was very attentive as there were only a few people dining due to the All Blacks game.Entree was the endive salad which was fresh, main was fish of the day and salmon..Both were very good and were cooked to perfection. The snapper didn't have crispy skin though..Desserts were the strawberry and chocolate. Overall very nice food and atmosphere.

I took my friend here for a birthday breakfast buffet and was pleased with the choice (as was she). A good range of food was available and having a love of breakfast buffets, this restaurant satisfied my cravings.

Update from my visit on the 16-12-2017 for dinner at 8pm:

4 of us girls came here and all ordered the steak. 300 Grams of goodness with the most delicious marrow jus, it was actually better than the red wine one.

It also came with a huge piece of marrow which we all did not eat just due to our own preferences. i'm sure if we liked marrow we may have considered eating it.

for the sides i would highly recommend the carrots with herbs. Super delicious as were the peri peri chips.

Negatives: Please don't serve complimentary breads if they are going to be cold and stale. Not to mention butter that was not very good at all. If you do want to serve this it's a great idea but make sure the breads are crusty and hot and the butter is whipped not stone cold and oddly flakey.

Older review: Lovely place for a lunch and dinner. I had my 21st function over here by the bar area, while my parents had dinner at the Vue Restaurant. Although this was now 5 years ago we still come here every 2-3 months for a meal. If you have an Accor hotels loyalty card it's a bonus as you get 50% off the food bill.

Usually order the Steak

Manuka smoked Harmony organic eye fillet, 39

confit short rib, cauliflower, chestnut crème,

wild mushroom, white truffle popcorn

Surprisingly hard to get hold of the menu anywhere online. They should really update it here. The eye fillet was cooked nice and rare as i liked it. I didn't get all the side bits and bobs as per the description above as we went for lunch and they specially made a steak for us which was super nice.

Oh yeah and of course the view is breathtaking!

Been here about 4 times for the buffet breakfast. It's not great but if you have a grabone worth trying out once. I found that the first two times were good but the last two were really bad for breakfast, so i haven't been back.

Saying that the a-la-carte menu is great :)

We went on my birthday for dinner which we both enjoyed our time here.
Great view of the viaduct harbour. The food was tasting. Extremely friendly staff with great service.
It was such a pleasant experice 😊

We had the misfortune of having breakfast at Vue on Sunday. Even though they take bookings they could not cater for all the people. The buffet area was overcrowded and like a circus. They had either run out of food or crockery. At times there was only one out of about 5 hot dishes. Often there were no plates or glasses. At one stage there was only baked beans as a hot dish. There was only one toaster to serve all the people. When dishes were replenished it was in such small amounts that it was gone in a minute. The only good thing about the whole experience was the view. Will definitely not recommend it or ever go again.
Vivek
It a nice rooftop restaurant specifically famous for breakfast deals via grabone. The English breakfast served here is quite normal however if you going with a deal then you might think that its value for money.

Ham ,sausages, mushrooms, eggs ,cutlets( my favorite) ,juices, fruits and breads are quite nicely prepared . Staff is also friendly and one can expect a full house during early morning hours .
Tabete mimashou !

Awesome food and ambience. But really poor service and staff. We went there with work colleagues and the wait staff seemed untrained. They took ages to pour drinks, asking to order for mains every 5 minutes, and never bothered to take the used plates etc. The place has a great feel and interiors. The food was just divine and what views! Only if the service can improve.

My partner and I wanted to take my mother in law out for a beautiful birthday dinner. She has a few eating allergies and is always saying that there are no good gluten free and dairy free places to eat out but I found Vue online called the restaurant and they confirmed that they offered both options. Having previously worked for Marriott International and knowing how hotels operate, I assumed that they would have their act together.

However our dinner experience was an utter disaster! I would literally recommend going to anywhere else for gf and df options and if your wanting a fine dining hotel experience to go eat at anywhere in the Langham or Sky City.

We were shown to our table and were given water but that was the extent of our good service over with. 3 out of our table of 5 finished our water within 5 minutes of being seated and we were not offered refills during the 2 hours we were seated. Waited 20 mins for someone to come take our drink and food order. When the guy was taking our order my mother in law made sure to go over that she was gf and df (she ordered the lamb shoulder) she specified that she wanted the lamb with plain steamed veges and a side of potatoes none of the other sides on the menu, he said yes he understood and left. Meals came out and my mother in law was given her meal first, was told that it was gf and df, she noticed there was a spring roll item on the plate and queried the woman waiter who indeed confirmed she was given the wrong plate. She disappeared into the kitchen and came out with the correct meal this time again confirmed it was gf and df and apologized. The meal came out will all of the sides on the menu, no steamed veges or potatoes in sight. We thought we would wait and give them a chance to come out. Nothing came, so off my father in law went to go find them, only to find that the male server had not even placed the order, so he put in an order. At this point we had all finished our meals and still no potatoes. The woman server finally brings them out and confirmed once again that they are gf and df. 30 mins later after finishing my meal and no one had cleared away a single plate! I'm also paying about $60 for my meal for bad service. Still no water re-fills since our arrival might I add. To make a bad night out even worse, my sister picked apart the bill and found that we were over charged $25. We weren't offered any compensation for the gf and df meal mix up to which my sister demanded that at the very least the potatoes should be free, the male server agreed and we left. Apart from the rib eye and eye fillet the 3 lamb shoulder meals were a bit small and also dry so it wasn't that greatest meal to begin with. Finally to top it all off my mother in law had a horrible reaction around 30 mins later due to eating something that was either gf, df or both! Why are you telling people that you offer these dietary food options if you cannot provide them! Will certainly not be coming back to this place and will be telling friends and family not to waste their money.

Came here with grab one voucher for breakfast- tried to give a review fairly considering it was a deal but something was certainly not right. Food quality was low, buffet variety was very small . Not worth the trouble. Only positive was the staff and manager were trying to please- but fundamentally this place is a joke.

Went for the buffet, good variety of breakfast option and friendly staff. Well worth the value if you purchase the occasional voucher that pop up.

Have been to Vue for breakfast buffet using a Grabone coupon multiple times and the selection of food has been consistent over the past few years.
You can expect the regular breakfast foods such as a variety of bakery, eggs, bacon, sausages, pancake, cereals, yoghurt, fruits, nuts, juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate... And many more.

The food itself is nothing too special, just regular English breakfast, however the view is amazing as it is at the highest level of Mercure hotel next to the port; the staff is friendly; the food is consistently resupplied; the environment is clean, modern and classy.

It is definitely worth it if you have the Grabone coupon (less than $15 per person). You could even skip lunch if you stuff yourself until you feel like throwing up.

It's a great breakfast to start the day!

29-OCT-2018 : Got to reacquaint myself with this restaurant and the upgraded Grand Mercure Auckland. Enjoyed the nicely medium rare Scotch with red wine jus and truffle fries. Delicious!

02-DEC-2015 : This restaurant has fantastic views from the 13th floor of Mercure Auckland. The breakfast buffet spread is decent with a good choice of hot and cold dishes. At least 4 choices of juice and selection of bread. Lunch menu is small but sufficient variety.

Great resturant if u are wanting a meal in a high end meal. View is amazing, service excellent and the food is prepared to a high standard. Would recommend for any special occasion. But be sure to book to reserve a seat next to the window. Both Rachel and I would come back again.

I came here with my family last weekend for Labour weekend dinner. We've been here a couple of times for breakfast but we'd never been to dinner. So we thought we'd try it out.

We knew what to expect in terms of atmosphere, service and the impeccable view! Since the restaurant is situated at the top of the Mecure Hotel it hosts an amazing view of Auckland's Harbour. We went around 7ish so it was perfect timing to watching the light turn into night.

We started off with entree ordering 3 dishes between the 4 of us: zucchini chips, pork belly and a bread platter. The zucchini chips were my fav! They were seasoned well and came with chipotle sauce which was a great combination. For main I got the line caught fish - which ended up being salmon, my brother got the free range chicken breast - coq au vin style, mum got the winter vegetarian - vegetable soufflé and dad got the eye fillet. We were all very happy with our mains. My salmon was cooked perfectly and the cloudy bay clams gave it that extra touch. Since I don't eat beef I had a try of my mums and brothers dish. Both were very flavoursome and cooked to perfection! To finish my brother and I both got dessert. Probably wasn't the best idea since I literally couldn't eat anymore! I ended up getting the custard and cardamon slice and my brother got the lemon mousse. Both complemented the mains well.

A great place for dinner! The waiters are very attentive and friendly offering amazing service. I highly recommend if you are wanting a flavoursome and hearty meal. I would definitely come back for more!

We came here for our anniversary.. The views are absolutely stunning!
We usually try to pick different dishes off the menu but this time we both liked the same steak dish and we decided go for it...
when the food arrived there was soo much going on the dish we didn't know where to start but once started we couldn't stop till we finished the whole plate..
Based on that particular dish I this place a 4.5

Babysat a mate recovery from surgery fortnight ago. Yes, looks can be deceiving from the entrance of the hotel foyer to actual rooms which is very dated/tired n in desperate need of a make-over incl. bathrooms, lumpy mattresses & hospital graded sheets Fans desperately needed in bathrooms BUT despite all this - the customer service was simply VA-VA-VOOM! Especially the 2 friendly young Indian FOH staff in dinning room n the friendly young Indian lady behind the bar. She delivered superb customer service all thorough-out our stay, spoke beautiful English, was impeccably dressed n just a pleasant all-rounder to chat with. To say the views are stunning would be putting it mildly, the views are INCREDIBLE. Despite the lengthy wait for a small piece of fillet steak to be cooked, compliments to the chef esp. deep fried onion rings with garlic aloli cooked beautifully, very lightly battered, crisp & yummy. The meals were ogled at, photographed then demolished with gusto after an exhaustive day at hospital. Thank you Mercure hotel, we will definitely be recommending and returning to experience the delightful customer service.

Great view really nice looking place food was not very nice service was really average!! We were left with dirty plates until we left. We were never attended to the whole time. Staff pretty rude someone bumped into me shoving me into the breakfast bar never said sorry or checked I was okay.

Beautiful venue and offered seats right by the window to enjoy the view. Friendly staff - thank you to Rebecca Liddle in particular.
Had the steak for lunch - super yummy but was more medium than medium rare. Fantastic fries.
Ordered wine and they didn't have any currently of the one we were after but very friendly and apologetic and offered good alternatives.
Sounded very knowledgeable despite being new.
Had a few issues with the eftpos machine which held us up a wee bit but we did get there in the end.

Will be coming back for another visit but when we have voucher or something as it's a little more expensive for a lunch than it warrants.

When we came here I had quite high hopes.
But to start with I feel like the waiters must be new? It didn't feel like they knew what they were doing. But they were friendly.

I did like the booth seating but sadly we did not get offered those seats even though the place was completely empty.

We had the set menu of 5 courses.
The food was actually very good!
Their lamb was amazing!!
But my only issue was that two consecutive courses had large portions of had some kind of beans in it, I think it was lentils? This made it WAAAAY too filling before our last 2 courses.

I bought a Grabone voucher for the buffet breakfast and we went with high expectation this morning. The buffet breakfast was very disappointing. There were very few selection and the bake beans were even a bit off. Even the coffee was horrible. There were only 3 selections - expresso, black coffee and mocha. They didn't even taste like real coffee - more like the cheap coffee you get from the vending machine. This is the worst buffet breakfast I had ever been in a hotel chain.

The service was poor too - well… I don't even think there was any service at all. No one came to take our dishes away and we had to put the dishes on the table next to us.

I don't think I will ever go back there again.

Went there for breakfast. Fantastic view, funnily enough! Decent if a little uninspired breakfast buffet selection.
One thing that annoyed me was that in the hour we were there (business breakfast), nobody came to clear our table. We ended up with plates and mugs piled up while the staff chatted at the front desk. Finally had to ask a lady (duty manager?) to clear some space on our table, she came, took half of the plates but left the others and never came back. I have to say, I'd be quite disappointed if I was the GM: great surroundings, good food but let down by unnecessarily slack service. Also, although we were the first for breakfast that morning, the carpet looked like it had been vacuumed halfheartedly, not a great sign. Someone needs a kick up the bum.

Disgraceful service and horrible food. Chef and his skills need addressing and time needs to be pit into training good waiting staff. Chairs need a damn good clean and would help if Supervisor spoke English better. View is to die for, but that is all. Will never be back. Most disgraceful food I have had in a very long time.

Final update: The meal was fantastic. Entrees are small but Devine. We had the steak & pork which was cooked to perfection. Didn't like the deconst tiramisu but tht was just a personal opinion. Well done chef.
Update: Finally spoke to the manager who was actually very polite and apologetic. We have been offered a room and meal on the house to experience the real Mercure Hotel and Vue restaurant. So watch this space... Maybe we just had a one off bad experience. Prepared to give thm the benefit of the doubt :)

Don't waste your time or money. Hubby & I went to Vue Restaurant for set menu @ $99pp for Valentines. Only because it was in Entertainment Book. Husband left hungry & even though the menu looked great on paper, it must of been too difficult 4 the chef to pull off. Prawns were small & in the shell. At least give us a water bowl for our hands. Portions were tiny. Serve sorbet in a chilled glass.. I had to drink mine. My salmon was smaller than my husbands. I need not carry on. The staff were great so I decided to contact the manager about the fact they would not take my Entertainment Card. I have left Mr Judd 3 messages, but no return call. Shocking managerial service. Will make sure all my friends never stay or eat here. Worst Valentines ever!

I give the 3 star rating because my husband and I dined Sunday night and whilst his meal was fantastic mine was a little disappointing. My fish was over cooked and the pork belly was under cooked. It was a shame because of the elements had have been cooked better I would have been tempted to give a 5 star rating! The service was excellent and we were not rushed, just right. The view is amazing and I will recommend Vue to my friends and family.

Have dined here multiple times. Food is always fantastic, great service. Love the view and would highly recommend to people. The mains, breads and sides are decent portions. Would love to see a more creative dessert menu as we always wish to have dessert but end up going elsewhere. Lovely atmosphere none-the-less.

The food was very good, hot and well presented. The views are fantastic.

Great food, great view. But the air con was freezing and the service staff were a bit rude which was disappointing.

Had breakfast here on the 21st July and the view was spectacular! Unfortunately the breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing which is a shame as the service was good and attentive. The food was mediocre. The hash brown was sitting in a lot of oil, they had 2 types of bacon but all soggy no crisp at all. With a view like this,Mercure should make more of an effort to make the experience worth returning.

Fantastic views and beautiful decor, staff were attentive and obliging. Had a lunch for 10 ladies, the $20 lunch menu was good value. I feel the overall quality of restaurant location and service would justify wider advertising. Most enjoyable.

Was taken there as a birthday surprise... The food was great and proportions were generous but the service didn't quite match the price or the service . It can be very loud if there are groups of people. However I'm not put off and would go again.
