Nice, serene and relaxing environment. Staff members are friendly and welcoming. Prices are okay. I like the ambience. Prefect place for a drink date in my opinion as its kinda calm and private.

The place has a really nice atmosphere whether its full or empty. The bar looks absolutely amazing. Plenty of bathrooms and knowledgeable bar staff that can make great recommendations and whip up a fantastic cocktail. Its nicely hidden away though definitely not a secret and its my favourite bar in Auckland. The food options are also really good whether you want a snack or something more substantial.

Exceptional selection of whisk(e)y and knowledgeable, friendly staff. The atmosphere is perfect to relax and unwind over a few drams. Great price points catering for all discretion levels so don't let the $320 per oz offerings stop you from coming to enjoy a $16 per oz. Will continue to come back & introduce more people to the world of uisge beatha.

An absolutely fantastic place. This is the absolute most go to place for any whiskey lover with over 600 whiskies available.

3 down - 619 to go - fantastic staff introduced us to the world's finest whisky - great experience - we'll be back - highly recommended!

Great bar, cool staff and great drinks. Recommend the top shelf whiskey and tequila too. We had a great night on an unexpected Monday outing through work but they more than accommodated us.

Great whisky bar with knowledgeable staff and an extensive range. If you can't find a whisky to drink here... Then whisky probably isn't your thing haha. Very cool vibe being underground. Does mean there's no mobile reception though.

Amazing cocktails, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. A nice, vibrant place to bring friends or loved ones–highly recommend!

Lovely place to relax after work or enjoy a drink with a date. Very warm and cozy, feels private, the music selection is chill and adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Good selection of drinks, the cocktails are very well done.

Very friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. They have an extensive list of whiskeys and have also extended their range of gin as well. Great place hidden in Fort Lane for a quick drink (wine/whisky/gin), cozy and romantic atmosphere. Just watch out for when they have special functions on as you can only sit around near the bar on these occasions.

Friday’s night always feel so good when you spend it in great place.. found this hidden whiskey playground which make me fall in love with their whiskey collection. I can find a lot of new whiskey which i never try before.. but Scottish whiskey will always be my fave

This place is one of the nicest bars (if not the nicest) bar I have ever been to. The bartenders and the staff are very knowledgeable and can make the perfect drink!<br/>The prices aren’t actually extravagant, and are around the same price as any cocktails from a restaurant. <br/><br/>Drinks: 5/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Ambience: 5/5<br/>

Great spot to drink the best whisky in Auckland. Bartenders recommendations always nail it and the know their stuff. I recommend to do the whisky tasting. Great experience!

Really enjoyed my visit with a friend- we were there early- 6.30ish. We were the only ones there so got 5 star service! Very knowledgeable about whisky- and the jalapeno poppers were AMAZING! It's expensive but worth the quality and variety of whiskies they have. The ambience is wonderful as well - just got a bit noisy later in the evening, but it was a Friday night so understandable. Great experience- will definitely be back :-)

Seen some great reviews of this place and we both like whiskey so we had to pay a visit here. Ambience is nice and modern. Service is below standard. I started off with an old fashioned which was great and then we made our way through some house cocktails which were also good. Wouldn't go back for the service though.

Well that was a disappointment! I can take nothing away from the whiskey selection but the bar itself was such a let down. You'd expect a whiskey bar to be warm and cozy and wood paneled. Instead it's more like a 90's nightclub! If you are expecting to have a detailed discussion with the bar tender and talk about the nuances of the rate whiskey you are tasting, forget it! The selection is great but the execution is diabolical. It's clearly geared for a mid-twenties party crowd. Huge miss!

Want to impress?<br/>Go to The Jefferson. <br/>I think it's an abomination not drinking whiskey straight but I just wanted a snap of the cool rocks. <br/>They have a great range- if you're a whiskey lover, The Jefferson is a MUST-DO.

Special bar, insane collection of whiskeys, refined wine list. Well heeled crowd and a nice vibe. Dark and cosy and super good staff who know their stuff. Recommended highly

Jeeeeeeeeeeffy where have you been all my life! Auckland / New Zealand's best Whisky Bar hands down! The range of Whisky and Bourbon is off the chain, the staff know their shit, the venue is grouce! All this place need is live Jazz and accomodation - I'd never bloody leave! <br/>

Love the design and interior of the place. Told the bartender I like something that tasted fresh and crisp and he made the perfect drink. A great date location too.

Lovely space however a little drafty and starkly lit. Crowd runs a little older and had a corporate vibe on the weeknight I visited. Service is light touch.

I had a catch up session with my friend here. Very nice and cosy ambience. Reminds me of bars in classic movies. It was fun to try different whiskeys. The staff told me that they have over 50 different whiskeys and various liquors. I think they have some really nice Japanese liquors too. I don't recommend you to order beef tenders from their 10$ bar snack. It was just blend and their barbecue sauce tastes like home brand barbecue sauce. However their jumbo sized fries were pretty nice. <br/><br/>I went on Wednesday night. It was not full but quite a few people were their and noise level was just right for me to talk to my friend. However, my friend told me it gets quite busy sometimes and gets very noisy too. <br/><br/>Oh the price of whiskey ranges from 10$ to 50$ by a glass. Note that your phone might not work well in this area because it is underground bar. My phone didn't work at all.

Awesome! Whiskey. Always enjoy coming to The Jefferson's.<br/><br/>Great place to bring friends or pop in after work with work mates after a busy day.<br/><br/>Nice to unwind and relax on the comfy couches. Love that this place is hidden away downstairs. <br/><br/>Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely keep coming back.

One of the best bars that I've ever seen, especially a must try for Whisky lovers.Delighted by the wide range of Whiskies they stocked.<br/>Candle lights decoration, underground Den Style, very good place to visit for a group.Staff are informative we went for Whisky tasting and the staff gave us the Best 5 and explained about them like Tourist guide.I really liked his approach.<br/>Though their Food Menu is not great.

Definitely a place I'd like to take anyone who loves whiskys or whiskeys. Did you know, whisky comes from the Gaelic word meaning, "water", and whiskeys with 'e' are Irish? The whisky/whiskey spelling is up for debates, but you learn something new everyday. . The Jefferson is a cool underground sort of place, posh, exceptional, a little intimidating. But the service is wonderful and you will definitely try something new every time. Spoilt for choice.

Outstanding little place to hide away in at the end of the day or the end of the night. The staff, particularly the senior team, really know their way around the whisky collection. It's a pretty large whisky collection too, catering to all tastes. They are not too precious either - they know that taste is individual and subjective so will work hard to bring you something you'll enjoy. Great space whether you want an easy quiet drink at the bar or to sit in the comfortable booths and tables.

I wish I had more time to sample the whiskeys. A great spot, could see myself spending a few hours sitting at the bar with a few friends and a few drinks.<br/><br/>Had the pork ribs, they were fantastic. Waitress had to walk slowly when bringing them to the table as the meat was falling off the bone.<br/><br/>Served as a whole rack with a great bbq sauce, just like they should be!<br/><br/>Staff were very friendly and helpful. <br/><br/>Am looking forward to my next visit.

There is finally a high end whiskey lounge! Came in here with some workmates and some clients and we were delighted by the selection on offer. The food is very limited but youre not here for the food.

New favourite whiskey bar, which is a great addition to Auckland's bar scene (American influenced)<br/><br/>Ambience feels more towards the sophisticated, older crowd. Lots of comfy couches but also high stools around for those looking for drinks only. Very nice decor and good music in the early nights. <br/><br/>They serve ribs and huge range of whiskey. Service was excellent. When I was there earlier in the night (8pm), The lady serving me recommended us some whiskey and she brought the bottles over so that we can have a sniff to find which we prefer. Also you can tell them a price range and she will only bring those within your range (as they can be really expensive!) <br/>When I went later at night when it was busy, the bartender would still do the same and took the time to explain if u asked questions. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, the bartender I got didn't ask me my preference instead just assumed I was a beginner whiskey drinker and recommended me the easy to drink whiskeys... A little presumptuous I guess...just because I'm a petite girl, doesn't mean I'm new to whiskey. :p <br/><br/>But other than that, if you can afford the slightly pricy drinks, I stay true to it being best bar in Auckland.

The first thing that strikes you about this place is the location - a little ramp next to a well established joint leads you down to this hidden gem! I am loving the amazing places Fort Lane has been dishing up lately. Once you are in you are greeted with the warm glow coming from the shelves which house mostly whiskeys, in all blends and maturities! Ask the bar staff for advice, they are very knowledgeable about the range, some have enough skill to match your palette just from listening! Pretty amazing experience. They also have a Rat-Pack themed Cocktail Menu. Basically, many wins in one place. Haven't had a chance to really get in to the food, but that day is not far behind!

Stopped off for a T-Bone Steak and was not disappointed . You could do some serious damage to your bank account here with the vast array of Bourbon and Whiskey available. <br/><br/>There is an interesting price list made up of gold lettering which lists all of their available Bourbons by glass. The Jefferson catch phrase is ..."Bourbon must be at least 51% Corn and distilled to no more than 160 proof , no colouring or flavouring added, aged in new charred oak barrels , made in the USA and liked by US!"<br/><br/>5/5 Character<br/>5/5 Meal quality<br/>5/5 Staff<br/>5/5 Ambiance<br/>5/5 Drinks selection<br/><br/>One of the top spots in Auckland.

A new whisky/bourbon bar in town. The bottles they have are amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you want a bite to eat as well do try the restaurant. The ribs are beautiful with the meat just falling off the bone. Well worth going to.
