Review Dizengoff - Auckland Central

Ju W
HALF & HALF - Recommended dish here. The dish comprises of half balsamic mushrooms & half scrambled eggs, along with two slices of delicious toasted sourdough. The balsamic seasoning of the mushroom was perfect and the scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. Also the eggs were not seasoned, allowing me to adjust the seasoning to my taste. The staff were friendly and the service time was reasonable given how busy the place was. There is extra seating upstairs along with alot of outdoor seating, including the tables in front of the restaurant next door. Great to take in some sun rays and enjoy. In summary, they deliver staple food to a high standard in a great wee spot on Ponsonby. Will be back again!

I came here for the first time on 2Jan and as you can imagine it was crazy busy die to other cafes being closed Still they smashed home runs with great food, timely service and friendly staff I can recommend the French toast with a generous helping of fresh fruits, the oat porridge with honey is really good bringing back childhood memories. Highly recommended

This place has become my favorite cafe in city. I had big breakfast and french toast. I really loved big breakfast which included eggs, sausage, pastrami and creamy mushrooms. It had all the things that I like to have for breakfast. We also ordered a piece of brownie and it was so good that we had to order another piece.

Went here for a Saturday morning breakfast. The atmosphere was nice and laid back and the food is pretty good. I had a matcha latte and the french toast. The French toast came with fruits, caramelised bananas syrup and a cream. It was delicious and well portioned.

I've been here a few times already and I really enjoyed the experience. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the coffee is great, but the food is absolutely amazing! I definitely recommend Dizengoff for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Last time I was here with my work colleagues and we were all impressed.

The food here is so good and they’re FAST. For the price it’s an amazing value!

Ordered large flat white, banana loaf, brownies and lemon glazed cookies. Fast service, verything tasted great and loved the fact that they open earlier than other cafe. Large flat white didn’t seem like a large size, more like a small-medium

1st time here, was not disappointed. Superb eggs bennie, generous with the salmon. Big Brekkie was one of the better ones on P road, great portion and sausage was very tasty. Would recommend, would come again.

An old favourite, Dizengoff continues to impress. Excellent coffee and you can6beat the Israeli chicken salad.
Andrew M. Bell
I had a delicious dish for lunch called Jewish Chicken Salad. It was really fresh and yummy with great ingredients.

Great coffee with the best cheese scones in town. You may need to be there early as once I went at 8 a.m. (weekday) and the scones were gone! Yup, sad day that was. Their eggs benny with salmon and avocado are quite delicious too. Special props to Anita who's asked our names when we started going there and now greets us by our names, and always has a smile on her face.

Great coffee at 6:39 am? I don't know where to get coffee, let alone great coffee. And it's open 364 days a year. I can't believe I've lived almost 20 years in Auckland and didn't try Dizengoff.

Excellent breakfast in Ponsonby. It is mainlyreally good, but in my opinion, the best advantage is that the kitchen is pretty quick compared to some others
Steph Edlin
Excellent fast service, ordered the feta salad which was amazing and had the best cheese to salad ratio I have ever encountered. Definitely recommend this place for brunch.

1st time here and it was great. Thanks to the busy team and I loved the off menu, surprise eggs with the breakfast grill which was unique, tasty and satisfying. The G says the salmon was a bit too salty for her, however I found it fine.

Coffee is excellent. Recommend mushrooms and scrambled eggs on toast or the Israeli plate. So glad to see the menu and ambience hasn't changed too much after all these years

Food the best.service excellent. They can't do much about traffic. A secret place.

1/2 & 1/2 - such a good meal for being quite simple. These mushrooms were PERFECTLY cooked in a delightful balsamic sauce. The eggs... where do I even start... I am usually not a fan of scrambled eggs but I had heard good things about these so I had to try it out. HIGHLY RATE. Fluffy while still having a smooth texture and somehow still flavourful and not dried out.

Mocha - perfect blend of chocolate & coffee. Not too sweet & not too bitter.

Overall, the food was great quality and the price was good! Not a cheap eat but definitely worth your money. Will be going back for seconds.

Great cafe with fast and friendly service.

I’m a fan of their bagels, specifically the Moroccan chicken, it’s different to anything that other cafes do. The bagel it’s self is really nice, it’s soft but still has a bit of a chew. I’ve ordered off their menu a few times and that’s been great also. Will definitely continue to eat here

Drip in for a weekend brunch - they serve amazing food, mushroom is cooked perfectly and so creamy, the egg’s really fluffy as well! Recommended

Good service and good food plus coffee, recommend. Maybe a few plants upstairs could give it more ambiance, but a nice place to sit especially when downstairs is busy.

Coffee 5/5
service 4/5
Ambience 5/5

Came in here for a morning coffee(Allpress) which was really really tasty and came out super quick! I think this was one of the best coffee's I've had recently too so I was happy to have started my day with it:)Loved the ambience which had nice big windows that brought in a lot of light that made it nice to sit inside and felt really comfortable. Definitely want to come back and try their food sometime soon:)

Had the most amazing dense and moist poppy seed muffin for a good value especially from a cafe on Ponsonby road. It goes well with the coffee, and is sliced into three pieces so it can be easily consumed.
The lady who served me recommended it and asked if u wanted it heated and I'm so glad I took her recommendation!
The place gets a bit quieter during lunch compared to breakfast
Charles
Really enjoyed the 50/50. Never really order eggs out but it was a delicious change. The waiters were nice and chill, cleared plates in a timely manner. Defs woud return :)

I am a regular at Dizengoff and this morning was shocked at the poor service, and the inferior coffee. They were busy so we went upstairs. No-one bothered to take our order so after 15 minutes we ordered at the counter. When our coffee arrived it was minus the hot milk we had ordered - so I brought it up myself. The coffee was weak. When finding there were no glasses for water we asked the waiter who had come upstairs to clear plates if he could bring glasses on his next trip. He replied without glancing our way that he wouldn't be back upstairs and that we should "go downstairs and get them yourself". We went afterwards to one of the many great coffee shops on Ponsonby road and got the coffee fix we had hoped for and expected from Dizengoff.

Pleasant peaceful weekday breakfast. Fried pastrami with soft scrambled eggs and sour dough toast. Nice coffee! Love the big windows. Fun people watching.
Rosanne Choy
Chicken pasta was amazing. Sauce complimented chicken very well. Mushroom sauce was kind of sour but the mushrooms still tasted alright. French toast was not too hard but the sourdough was 😅
Ryder
Decent food, well presented with great taste. Didn’t advertise all ingredients though as my meal came with a few dairy products I wouldn’t usually eat. Would still return. Fresh decor.

I’ve been wanting to try here for ages. Sat here for about 10 minutes with my young daughter, ignored by two staff who were clearing tables around me. I waited patiently as they were busy but not so much as a Hello or I’ll be with you shortly. Worst service I’ve seen here in Auckland! Mind bogglingly rude. Never again. Sort yourselves out, seriously.

Literally Auckland’s best coffee house. Food is filling and consistently good - the Jewish delights are one to try if you want something lighter. All around thumbs up. 😍.

Dizengoff is one of the mainstays of Ponsonby’s ever evolving dining scene and has been serving up Jewish inspired fare since 1994. The secret of its success is simple – a menu full of favourites that keep customers coming back, friendly, efficient service, and great coffee.

Good ratings, Ponsonby location... what can possibly go wrong?!
Despite I heard many good things, I cannot say it captured my heart. It was busy when we got there and there was a lot of staff however they sometimes seemed to be more busy talking to themselves then providing attentive service. The cafe looks rather raw and sterile then cozy and welcoming. Chairs and tables are very basic.
I am usual a big fan of cabinet food but the look of pale sandwiches didn't appeal to us. We ended up ordering porridge with poached fruit and the chicken salad. It was a simple oat porridge, nothing special about. I was disappointed about the "poached fruit". They seemed to be cooked dried fruit. Coffee was nice though.
I wouldn't go back or recommend it to my friends. The food was ok however not outstanding and the lack of atmosphere didn't make us feel comfortable.

Having walked past Dizengoff several times whenever popping into Ponsonby, I was excited to finally check it out one rainy Saturday morning. My overall experience was alright; food was pretty good but I was slightly put off by the staff's initial lack of friendliness – which might’ve been because of the weather and how busy the café was.

I'm a sucker for brioche French toast, so I decided to give that a go. While I’m not usually a fan of poached fruit, the bits of stonefruit + prunes served this morning were spiced well and worked nicely with the fluffy toast. The portion and presentation of the dish were good (the bananas were beautifully seared!) but special mention goes to the labneh cheese that complemented the syrup. Thinking about what could’ve been better, perhaps some sprinkled nuts could serve as a crunchy contrast?

I also tried their 'half and half' (tasty scrambled eggs and balsamic mushrooms with tangy pesto and sourdough). Although the dish sounds basic, I really enjoyed it and was impressed with the mushrooms and pesto in particular.

Overall, I came in to Dizengoff with high expectations and while I wasn't blown away, they did do a lot of things right (service was fast and their menu is well-priced for Ponsonby). I’d be happy to come back to try another savoury breakfast dish in future.

The first cafe i came to when i arrived in Auckland. I did a bit of research and wanted a nice breakfast. I'd heard the balsamic mushrooms were to die for, although a bit apprehensive as i thought they might taste weird, they were sooo good. My partner ordered them and i had eggs benedict. Although we had a hair in the mushrooms, the waitress changed it for a whole new one which was great service. I'm not too bothered about hairs as i've worked in restaurants before and it does happen, it's not a big deal if dealt with correctly as did our waitress. The cafe was also really busy and service was still great. Will defo be back for breakfast!!
CocoOnFire
First time in here because of the high score. The food was alright - it's normal cafe food but Jerwish style. We ordered 3 meals to share, the service is good but not as good as the score, maybe it's too busy on a rainy day.
Stephy_NakiGirl
Popular local cafe in Ponsonby. Friendly & efficient service.
They have some unique menu items - one of the most popular being the mushrooms. If you're a mushroom lover you must order this dish.
On this visit I had the muesli with fresh fruit & yoghurt. The stand out of this dish was the fruit as it can quite often be flavourless. This was all fresh & juicy.
Coffee was well made. There are lots of tasty baked items to eat in or takeaway too.

Ah Dizengoff, highly spoken of and for a damn good reason 💕. The Jewish/Israeli fare is expansive here and that is definitely ok with me! I found the menu to be extremely well priced and well varied. The service is very 'too cool for school' but polite at the same time. The coffee? STELLAR 😍☕️. I was pleasantly surprised at the large portion sizes and consistency throughout the meals we received! If you love eggs as much as I do, this is the cafe for you 🍳
Kate
Awesome cafe that my friend and I stumbled upon yesterday, we ordered a chicken salad each, not your typical chicken salad, loaaaads of flavour, great service, would definitely absolutely return if I was in the area again. Super delish looking cakes and slices on the counter that I had to really drag myself away from hahah

Coffee is lovely. The food tastes authentic and fresh! Service is pretty good. I love the menu. Would be keen to try everything. The flavors mesh very well together. Well worth the price. Highly recommended. Visited on a busy day and received decent service, so overall very pleased!

Love Dizzy! It's lasted in the competiveness that is Ponsonby for a reason. It doesn't try too hard or follows fads (mason jars etc.). Best coffee in Auckland and it's standard double shot woop. I always go for the trustworthy half/half or eggs benedict with pastrami. Their serving sizes are great and you don't have to pay some absurd amount extra for avo. The mushrooms are also a must-have!
Kieran
Walking into Dizengoff after a good session at Taste of Auckland the day before, we were looking for a brunch to hit the spot and rejuvenate our souls.

The environment in Dizengoff is very sterile, crashes and bangs from behind the counter, the grinding of the coffee beans all seemed to resonate round the restaurant bouncing off the walls, not a comfortable environment.

The service was sub standard, apart from taking the order and delivering the food, it was non existent. No smiles, no character. I got up from the table to fetch some water and had to navigate my way around a group of FOH staff while they socialized with each other around the water counter. With so much time on their hands you'd think they could actually provide a service to their customers.

We ordered the omelet and the French toast, the omelet was presented well however bland to the taste. The French toast was again presented beautifully, the stewed fruit at the base of the dish wasn't pleasant to eat. We both walked away a bit dissapointed.

I would encourage the manager/owner of this cafe to visit Rad in Mt. Eden to see and experience what excellent service feels like.
Came here for lunch with friends. Loved Dizengoff's Jewish-Western spin, something a bit different. Decided to be adventurous and try the chopped pâté with bread, great flavour and texture. Will be back again :)

Had their soy cappuccino one day and was one of the best
If you like your coffees quite strong this is a good place
However at the end the soy? Or whatever it was maybe the foam was all becoming a bit solid like?
Other that that, good location and awesome upstairs area
Will come back to try food if the opportunity arises :)
Also friendly staff

The best cafe in Auckland !!!! I am here every single weekend without fail ! Large flatwhites made to perfection every single time, amazing staff, mushrooms !! Do not leave without getting mushrooms with your Brunch or breakfast . Everything on the menu is amazing and portion sizes are great 😀credit to the owners ... Wait if it's busy you will be amazed 👏❤️

Perfection ❤️ from the food and service to the deco and atmosphere, Dizengoff is definitely a must-visit place in Ponsonby 😊

My friends and I had an amazing brunch here last weekend. We ordered 2 big breakfasts, 1 half and half and 1 Israel plate. Mine was the half and half which was scrambled eggs and creamy balsamic mushrooms on sourdough bread, with butter and avocado on the side. The mushroom was superb, I couldn't stop eating it, and two of my friends who got the big breakfasts (same mushroom included) also loved it. Seriously I can't stress enough how good the mushroom was!! If you come to Dizengoff, please try it, it is now a MUST for me. Everything else on my plate was tasty and cooked to perfection, but the mushroom was one hundred percent the star. My friend also let me try the sausage in the big breakfast and I loved it, kind regretted not ordering it as an extra. For drinks, I got the green smoothie while all my friends got coffee. I have a habit of ordering green smoothie at any cafe/brunch place and so far, Dizengoff's smoothie comes in third on my list. It was pretty delicious with a touch of cayenne I think, to enhance the flavour. Love it ❤️

All and all, I left with a happy stomach and will absolutely come back for more goodness 😊

Visited for the first time today and was impressed with the quick service. My coffee was great also pleased they offer almond milk as not a lot of the places do. Will definitely be going back

Dizzy is the gold standard for the Ponsonby cafe scene (and dare I say, the rest of Auckland). Great coffee, drinks & food. Always have a good time. The staff rock.

An oldie but a goodie, Dizengoff has been a popular stable in Ponsonbys' cafe scene for as long as I can remember. Small, minimalist decor allows the food here to speak for itself.

The Jewish inspired menu doesn't read quite as well as it comes out. From the outlook, the feta/avocado/chicken salads for example, all look kind of straightforward. But when the dishes arrive, there is so much unexpected, wonderful ingredients on the plate that don't come across when looking at the menu. I came here yesterday with my mum and we enjoyed the feta salad and Israel plate. Both were delicious, however if looking for a healthy salad, perhaps ask for the sauces/cheeses/pesto to be put to the side. Reasonably priced, however the service was a little lack lustre, with the wait staff acting a bit like it was too early to be talking.

But overall, a definite must-try at least for the interesting dishes that aren't a dime a dozen.
Food 24/7
Came here in a quiet late Sunday afternoon as we have been wanting to try this place for a while.

Friendly staff and their Flat White is on point ! Possibly one of the best I have had .

I Ordered roasted vegetable with avocado and my partner had their smoked salmon pasta.

Sadly my dish was overwhilmed with dressing, over lumped with pesto and too much grated cheese. There was Not enough vegetables or salad on there to balance out the saltiness.

The salmon pasta was tasty at the beginning but the amount of cream in there made it hard to eat after a few mouth full .

Maybe we will return to try other dishes

Been here couple times, food is somewhat okay, but service in general is mediocre. Staff is super grumpy, and it seems that this place's idea is too keep dirty plates on the table from previous guests as long as possible, even when they bring you your order they don't collect it.
HJ
This place always seems to have a good vibe about it. One of my favorite coffee shops in Ponsonby. Service is always consistent and so are the coffees with hardly any wait times - perfect if your in a rush or need to get back to work quickly. Staff are friendly which helps, plenty of seating up and down stairs so great for a small group catch up. Try to avoid Saturday mornings because this place is pretty busy then. I would go here for breakfast any other day of the week though! Definitely worth checking out for those who love a good coffee.
Richie Chewy
One of my fav cafes at Ponsonby with one of the best coffees served in Auckland / nz ! Had the usual chicken pasta which will fill you up and also the feta salad , very friendly and attentive staff with my fav flat white and special allpress blend served in a glass rather than cup so highly recommended. Insider tip is the upstairs area handy for private meetings and conversations ;-)

Went ponsonby for the Christmas market day and decided to settle here for some brunch. I ordered the half and half and my boyfriend got the eggs benny with pastrami. The half and half was delicious, the mushroom was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The egg beny was really good too, the pastrami goes really well with the eggs and hollandaise sauce. It was something different.

My favourite cafe in Auckland.

The half and half, big breakfast, the coffee, the chicken bagels....

Everything here is amazing, the service is great and it is always a great atmosphere.
Iain Smart
Simple for me, eggs & pastrami, hits the spot. Coffee is good, just too busy to get a table on a Saturday (but that's my problem and a good one for Dizengoff)
GideonMarisa MasterchefNz2015
One of the finer breakfast spots in Auckland! Clean, inviting, exquisite and an all round 10/10 ! Can't fault anything .. Worth the money and the service! Sarah Forsyth #g7

Probably my favourite breakfast spot in Ponsonby, beautiful coffee - beautiful service. Fantastic food!! I have never been let down - defiantly a favourite 😍
Vincent Warner
The eggs and mushrooms here are amazing. I come here fairly often when my lust for mushrooms can't be sated elsewhere. Staff always friendly, occasionally the place is completely jammed and noisy as hell which is a bit much for hangover at times but overall, it's just a great breakfast place which surprisingly doesn't have bacon.
Ben Tutty
I bloody love Dizengoff. It's always packed and there's often a line for ordering but I can see why. Their mushroom on toast and salmon scrambled eggs are some nek level s%#t and their coffee is the best in the city. Plus they're super cheap, you can grab yourself poached eggs on freshly baked bread with house made pesto for around 10 bucks. Beauty.
Fiona M
We have been here twice now and the foods is pretty amazing. The first time I ordered museli which was nice but I did wish I had chosen something a bit more incredible like the mushroom toast my boyfriend ordered. Second time around I knew better and ordered a spinach and feta pie that came with a beautiful balsamic dressed salad. The crust on the pie was amazing and I finished every bite. We will definitely be back, it's a new favourite. Yum!
B
Great place to go on the weekend for bunch. The atmosphere is great, as is the food and the coffee. The go-to is always the mushrooms and scrambled eggs - such a treat. I've heard the bagels are also a good choice.
Gracie B.
Consistently outstanding brunch cafe in Auckland. Highly recommend the house smoked salmon, the balsamic mushrooms, the pastrami and scrambled eggs and the Allpress coffee. The staff are always very friendly and efficient and the food service is speedy, even though the place is usually packed with patrons.
Duncan Galletly
A very cool name and a very cool restaurant. Have been perhaps half a dozen times when in auckland, usually for breakfast or lunch with family. I find it hard to go past the israel plate - maybe one of the most interesting things on the menu. Always found the service and coffee very good. Recommended

Went along to Dizengoff after reading some great reviews only to walk away very disappointed. I think this is more a place to 'be be seen' as appose to going to for great food. Tables are almost on top of each other, service was average, and food very much the same. I got the mushrooms after hearing they were the best around town but after battling with the hard as rock toast that was next to a pile of all button mushrooms by about half way through I decided to call it a day. The salmon scrambled eggs, also was left half uneaten.
I love to try new breakfast places and always think there is not a lot to go wrong but very under whelmed by Dizengoff, to the point of walking down the road to get a smoothie to full the gap.
Ishita M. Mendonsa
One of my favourite breakfast spots in Auckland. Been here many times and I've never been disappointed. Consistently delicious and staff are lovely!
Priyanka Victor
My friend and I came here as buzzfeed recommended this place (was on the top 10 places to have brunch) and it didn't live up to that expectation unfortunately. It wasn't bad at all but it wasn't great. The staff were average at their service and whilst the food and coffee came pretty quickly, it wasn't the wow i was expecting. Probably my fault for having high expectations but anyway, i ordered the french toast brioche with banana, maple syrup and a compote of fruits. The latter was a bit soggy and overwhelming. Probably not worth the money but if you're in the area and keen for brunch then id resort to going here otherwise, there's better brunch places out there.
Renata
AMAZING!. Delicious coffee and friendly service..
The eggs benedict were incredible.. I forced myself to eat it all! And my partner was equally impressed with his Big Breakfast.. Each element of the dish was perfect, and the creamy mushrooms were divine..
I wish there was a cafe like this in Brisbane! Highly recommended!

Great local gem in ponsonby! Busy cafe with good coffee and a simple but generous menu. The mushrooms on toast was delicious but a heavy brunch with the rich buttered mushrooms sitting over the lovely bread soaking in the flavours. Luckily the staff recommended a competent of half scrambled eggs and half mushrooms as a whole serving of mushrooms may have turned the level of enjoyment from an 8 to a 6 given the generous size. Overall, great coffee, lovely spot on the Main Street and good food that followed. Nice start to a lovely Sunday Auckland morning.
Chasing A Plate
...This Ponsonby cafe has been churning out Jewish-ish food for years, think chopped liver, bagels and salmon, so if you’re hanging out for some streaky bacon, this aint the place to come. The decor of this institution is plain- simple white walls, wooden floors and tables which are never empty...
Lucyeatsakld
Was awesome that my friend and I were able to get seated straight away and food and coffee was bought out quickly. The coffee is to die for and my mushrooms on toast was definitely worth skipping breakfast for. The only negative about this cafe is that the tables are so close together we were nearly bumping elbows with the neighboring brunchers, and it's definitely not the place to go if you want a quiet relaxed meal
Peifen Chua
This place was super busy when we visited on a Friday morning at around 7.45am! Atmosphere in the cafe was overwhelming, was very loud, found myself nearly shouting. Nonetheless, it's the perfect place if you want to have a quick breakfast before work. Recommended to try their bagels plus coffee. Their bagels are different to normal bagels as they are not as dense. I saw one which had purple cabbage and chicken and was instantly sold without looking at the others. The flavours are unusual and different and I loved it. I wish I knew what spice / sauce they added to it. My bagel paired with a cuppa chai latte. Was def sweet and right amount of spicy. Defs made my morning and a good start to the day. Will definitely come back to for their lunch menu.

Dizengoff never disappoints. One of my favourite cafes in Auckland. The 1/2 and 1/2 scrambled egg and creamed mushroom on toast is one of those must-try, must-have dishes.

It's always pretty busy and a little loud downstairs at Dizengoff. But if you're lucky enough to get a table upstairs by the window, enjoy the sun, the coffee, the food and your time there.
Lynda Williams
Have never written a review for anything before but feel compelled to do so today. I really wanted to try the veal sausages, which had been hailed as wonderful in a previous comment. I asked the girl if the sausages on the menu were veal, she didn't seem to know but feigned an affirmative response. $14.95 for two things that were shaped like sausages, cut in half and grilled, you know, just like dad used to do on the barbie, when they weren't quite thawed out and he had to make sure they cooked through? But the worst crime was that these "things" reminded me of (she screams) PALONIES!!!!! I couldn't eat them, nor could I say anything because the person I was with would have been mortified.
All through our breakfast the staff chatted, as if no one else was there. Not one of them asked if everything was ok, neither did they clear the dirty plates.
Why, would a popular cafe serve processed sausages?
Liz Winstone
Outstanding coffee & macaroons at Dizengoff yesterday. It was late Sunday morning, and the place was pumping. We sat outside in the beautiful sun.

Anyone who can make a decaf soy flat white taste THAT good gets 'excellent'.

Tidy loos upstairs, chipper friendly staff, and a light, airy cafe with that stylish Ponsonby renewed-classic building feel.

Highly recommended.

Heard so much about Dizzy so drove up from Pukekohe to have brunch here, well the mushrooms in particular. My partner and I both ordered them and were cheaper than expected at $16 for mushrooms on toast with a side of some house made parsley type pesto. They were nice but nothing fantastic or to rave about. No highchairs for kids. Service was good. Bagels on counter looked great. Not sure I'd go again tho with all the other competition along Ponsonby Rd.
Mel
Really mediocre food at this place. The brunch fare is extremely ordinary with no imagination at all. You can do better in five minutes at home. I guess people go there because it's some kind of scene.
Amanda
Service was friendly and the food was quick however I was a bit disppointed with my breakfast, the eggs were a bit undercooked to my liking and they'd given me the end piece of the bread loaf which was hard and dry. I might try this place again however in the hope that it was an off day.
Juku
Coffee was good and the slice of coconut bread tasted yummy. I didn't enjoy the service and atmosphere - both came across as very cold. The best are the opening hours! The two cafes in the close neighbourhood both already close at 4pm so I was very pleased to find the Dizengoff to be open until 5pm.
Lucia
Amazing awesome Eggs bene...so good that I still kept thinking about the day after! Hah :)
Would definitely come back, again and again!
When you've tried something this good, it automatically becomes your local haunt for a good brekkie/brunch. Would also recommend the Big Breakfast, as my boyfriend was very quiet for a good 8mins while he was busy scoffing it down.
Good work Dizengoff. Keep up the good work.
Chloë Leonarda
My favorite cafe by far. I love this place, the coffee is perfect every time and the staff remember what I order even though I only go every few weeks. The food is also amazing! Also I'd like to add that not only do they make a mean coffee, their chai is the perfect mixture of spicy and sweet.
NomNomPanda
Confusing and not very descriptive wall menu (the only menu available) had us standing at the counter for ages. Lots of egg options, but we didn't feel like having egg, and instead ordered the chicken pasta and the onion tart. Pasta was tasty but the chicken was dry, and the onion tart appeared with a huge black burnt patch on top, which we scraped off before eating. The tart was delicious as was the accompanying parsley pesto, but serving burnt food did give an impression that the restaurant did not care very much.
Catherine
I recently moved back into the Ponse and have made it my regular haunt for morning coffee. My flatwhite is always made to perfection with a love heart on the top! Food is amazing too especially the Mushrooms or sometimes i have this feta salad also great! The service to me seems great. Super friendly & they even know what coffee i drink! Very speedy no waiting for ages for your coffee. Seems the current place to be of coolio hipsters.

Crap service but amazing coffee. Another service with a slap place in ponsonby....amazing coffee and/or food but don't go there if you are looking to have your day brightened. stopped being a regular years ago - couldn't do dizengoff and fatimas ...
Louise Ashford
Chicken Pasta is amazing!! best i've ever had. Loved the contemporary wall designs upstairs. Friendly people. A new favorite!!

Dizengoff is my favourite cafe in Ponsonby. The coffee is fantastic. The atmosphere is great. It is always busy. The service is great too. Can't go past salmon eggs.

This place never fails to impress
Consistently good
Service, food, and ambiance.
Dizengoff is usually always busy so if we decide to go we make sure its during that in between time of either really early (8am) or just before lunch (11am).
The prices are reasonable and servings a substantial - we share the big breakfast between the two of us
For further details, recommendations and photos have a look at http://theincredibleediblelifeofstephandmike.blogspot.co.nz/2014/02/dizengoff.html

This is in our top #brunchbumpin spots in Auckland

Dizengoff is an Auckland institution that needs no introduction. Located on the main Ponsonby strip, it serves great coffee and brunch with Jewish flare (you won't find any bacon here!)
The richly dark mushrooms on toast have a cult-following, and the towers of eggplant, peppers and feta are an impressive sight. For something a little more unusual (vegetarians beware), try the Israel plate, a trio of creamy labneh, hummus and chopped liver.
