Review Chocolate Boutique Cafe - Auckland Central

William W. Perez Rivero
I recently visited "The Chocolate Boutique" and overall, it was a good experience. The place offers a variety of chocolate treats that are sure to satisfy any chocolate lover's cravings. The quality of the food was good; their chocolate creations were rich and delicious. The service, on the other hand, was just average. While the staff was polite and attentive, there were moments when it seemed a bit slow, especially during peak hours. However, they were knowledgeable about their products and were able to provide recommendations based on preferences. The ambiance of the boutique was cozy and inviting, with a pleasant aroma of chocolate filling the air. The presentation of their dishes was appealing, showcasing their commitment to creating visually pleasing desserts. In conclusion, if you're in the mood for some delectable chocolate treats, "The Chocolate Boutique" is a worthwhile stop. While the service might not be exceptional, the quality of the food and the charming atmosphere make it a place worth visiting for a sweet indulgence.

Not as good as we thought it would be. The chocolate steam pudding lacked flavour. The hot fudge cake was decent. I got a dark hot chocolate submarino, both my partner and I thought it was rich in flavour whilst my partner got a milk chocolate submarino which lacked flavour. Overall while it was decent, it wasn't worth the wait.

Good location. You can find parking in nearby locations. Reasonable quality and reasonable price. Enough seating space. Staff are friendly. A bit dated and dark and need some love. But overall an interesting experience. We always struggle to find these kind of places in Auckland.

We love to see dessert places open late in the city, and the Chocolate Boutique Cafe has enough options to keep everyone happy. Coffees, chocolate, baked goods, hot and cold desserts, and ice cream - including some vegan options across the board. It’s just expensive for what you get with the service and atmosphere.

TOP STUDENT BUDGET FRIENDLY PLACE. this place has a massive menu and amazing deserts. And have a huge hot drink menu too. They never seem to miss. They are always quiet so it's nice to go to a quiet place for some hearty desserts. Last time I was here was a year ago but the prices were very affordable. Update: the way they collect orders is still old school and the service is lowkey terrible. But the vibes and prices are alright and they open quite late.

Attentive, knowledgeable, and patience staff members. Definitely the place to go to if you want to get awesome chocolate and desserts. Their chocolate dishes are definitely must try and will be a memorable experience too. The name of the dishes are also memorable.

Chocolate vegan pudding was amazing. Very rich but so yummy. There’s lots of vegan single chocolate available too. Staff usually know which ones are vegan and if not they have a list which is helpful.

This place has an amazing ambience. The dreserts are delicious. Prices are okay considering the standards and the location. Staff members are friendly and customer service is pretty good. Overall prefect place for chill outs and dates.

This is really good place for people who like special drinks. They have a large menu, many different options from desserts, coffee, or a nice gift from Chocolate. Behind the shop is a great place to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset with a view of the sky Tower. Suitable for going with friends, dating or even with your kids with the pastry menu. However, there is no space for them to play. Ambient: 9/10 Price: 10/10 Staff: 9/10 Taste: 8/10 Parking: No

Perfect place for a date or for friends and families meet up. Deserts are delicious and fresh with reasonable price. Staffs are welcoming and really helpful.Orders came out quickly for us. There are inside and out side seating available. You will have a great view if you choose outside. The building is rwally stylish and will give you a different out of Auckland feeling.

Top desert outfit indeed. Chocolate is divine. Recently tried out their waffle. Wow. Wow. Wow. Absolutely banging. It’s worth running another few more Km the next day.

What a charming cafe nestled in the heart of Parnell. A perfect sojourn after a busy day, I enjoyed watching people and traffic pass by as I enjoyed my hot chocolate. They know how to make a good hot chocolate! The cafe has a storied history and has been visited by numerous heads of state and other celebrities, including Bill Clinton. I will be returning.

Nice place to meet with friends. Hot dark chocolate is okay-ish. However, I am very disappointed about the Kahlua cheese cake because it doesn't taste like the cheese cake at all. Maybe I shouldn't order the desert, should only focus on chocolate.

Delicious hot chocolate! Black Forest was like liquid heaven. Server was so sweet and friendly. Atmosphere was so inviting. I can't wait to come back ❤️

Great location to sit and have a cup of drink and watch the world go by in tranquility. The hot chocolate is top quality, but I felt the Italian Denso too thick. I had expected to be able to drink from it, but it wasn’t runny enough(maybe that’s what it’s meant to be). Mistakenly, I ordered a lemon tart to go with it, and it proved a bit too much. I’ll go with just the hot chocolate next time.

I just love the sticky date pudding and lava cake. Generous portion and also i love the drinks. I ordered honey, lemon, ginger tumeric whick i can give 5 star!!!. The staff are very friendly, very curtious, but maybe because it was during the weekdays. I heard this place can be very packed and service is awkward during the weekend. But i could be wrong as this was my first time there. Hope someone can add to this.

A good spot for chocolate lovers. They not only offer dessert treats but also sell quite a lot of chocolates and candies. Came here a few times with friends, but I found the dessert here is a bit too sweet, which would be more suitable for those who have sweet tooth. Death of Chocolate Sundae tastes all right but with too much whipped cream. However the back of the shop is a beautiful place to sit and chill out with friends.

Worst customer service, especially that obnoxious woman at the counter, would never go there again!!!!!!!

Great selection of chocolates. Great outdoor area for a cup of hot choco or tea and a good conversation. This cafe promotes talking instead of being busy looking at your phone screen - as theres no wifi ☺️ We went for a shared dessert plate for 17$ for our sweet fix. All in all, coming back for more taste experiences.

My go to place to get a cup of steaming hot chocolate. I have tried every single one from their menu and each one is wonderfully delicious (my personal favorite is the black forest). Their dessert are really yummy as well with good portion sizes. For people with a sweet tooth it's a must visit.

Found this cute little boutique in Parnell's trendy row of eateries. Went in saw their chocolate counter, drinks and ice creams and ventured in further to discover that you could order and eat in. Did not need further persuasion especially after a garlic filled Korean BBQ meal and on a cool Auckland evening.

What I liked:
1. A good menu with lots of variety for vegans, gluten-free, lactose-free diets and even diabetics.

2. Offers a wide range of everything chocolate ranging from cold and hot drinks, frappes to submarinos, shared desserts, cakes and cookies, pralines, cheesecakes, mud cakes, flourless cakes, pavlovas, mousses, waffles, densos. Amazing!

3. You can't book a table as they don't take bookings so its a first come first served venue. Open 11am till 9.50pm daily.

Takeaways available even as though anyone would want to as the quaint European vibe and decor just make it a perfect place for a catch up with another like-minded chocolate lover - of course!
Always happy everytime i go to chocolate boutique... its like everything’s so yummy! Wish i could order everything!

Last time i was here was almost 2 years ago i think and everytime its always full.. its just now that they’re not.. guess due to covid, all businesses are still trying to recover.

Food: Very sweet selection of chocolate drinks & cakes. They were a bit too sweet for my liking but I'm sure I am very picky! :) The italian denso was a chocolate sludge - not as sweet as I thought which was great (denso is a mix of cornflour, chocolate & sugar). The dark hot chocolate was great too. The chocolate steam cake was a bit too sweet but as above, I prefer dark chocolate so I may have found it sweeter than others.
Menu: The menu does look outdated however they have an extensive selection of items from cakes, mousse, drinks & even a 'diabetic' section with less sugar.
Ambience/interior: Vintage interior with a cosy feel to it. They have extra seating outdoors as well.
Overall: Very cute cafe for dessert with the added bonus of late opening hours.

Service = 2.5/5; Taste = 4/5; Value = 3/5; Menu option = 5/5; Vibe = 2.5/5; Hubby rating = 5/5
The Chocolate Boutique Cafe is a delicious dessert stop after dinner in Parnell. The service is quite slow and non-existent once you get your food, but what can you expect from a dessert place.
To read my full review visit honestfoodiereview.com and follow @honest_foodie_nz

Heaven if you're a chocolate lover - really good value for money too!

I ordered one of the vegan menu which I found it really good as it was not thst sweet but still giving the feeling of eating chocolate.

This is our go to place esp on winter :) love all their desserts

This place is LOVE. They serve the most amazing and pocket friendly desserts. We live in the complete opposite side of Auckland but we always drive back to this place for desserts.
The ambience is really nice and warm. The place is decorated with cute little things. Their counter is a place where I can just stand and stare for hours.
I personally love ordering their chocolate waffle. They have an awesome menu and their staff is so polite. This place has my heart. A must visit.

Our regular! We make the trip at least once a week and never regret it. Desserts are affordable, not overly-complicated and comforting. They also offer a large selection of candies and chocolates to take home or gift to others. Expect to pay less than $10.00 per head for most of the desserts, including loaded sundaes and cakes. They also have vegan and gluten free offerings on their extensive menu, so definitely cater to all.
Renie
How can you go wrong with chocolate! The ambience is very good but most of the nice seats are normally taken. There was quite a wait time as there were quite a lot of people but that was probably because we went on a weekend. Loved the vibe and will return to satisfy the sweet tooth :)

Had a piece of chocolate mud cake and the chocolate waffle. The waffle was nice and sweet with nice chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce on top. The chocolate cake, although nice and dense was quite dry? They had microwaved it which made the bits of sponge without sauce very dry. They also have the cakes sitting on display all day, I’m not sure if they’ve been refrigerated at all which isn’t good in this hot summer weather. The place is also quite outdated and had dusty window frames and table tops. The girls in the stall were gossiping so loudly without a care that we were seated close to the counter. I was able to gauge what they studied, what they did over the weekend, and details on their relationships when I really didn’t need to. Really not cool service 😂

The Tiramisu Cheesecake is the best item on the menu I have had so far. It is really amazing and not too sweet so just the perfect amount of sugar for dessert 😊

Checked out chocolate boutique while innthe parnell area. We grabbed the Au Chocolat and a Hot Chocolate to share. The platter consisted of a chocolate brownie, chocolate mousse, two chocolate pieces, and chocolate ice cream. The hot chocolate was good but not as chocolatey as expected. The mousse was average and just tasted like chocolate whipped topping. The chocolate ice cream was nice but was average as well. The chocolate pieces contained filling which did not match the rest of the cholately meal. The chocolate pieces were also underwhelming. The browine was incredible. Next time we come back I think we will try something else such as one of the lava cakes or the death by chocolate ice cream as it looked a bit more rich.
Julia Le Cheminant
cute and cosy atmosphere, cute for dates atmospherically. Excellent candy selection for purchase. deserts and beverages were average, not great not bad, definitely could find tastier desserts in akl. Service was ok due to the wait time and that the items were bought out at strange times e.g drinks after mains (creme brûlée to die for tho)
Tanuj
I would say that there are better places in Auckland for deserts ! We had the pancakes with maple syrup and tiramisu! Both the deserts were quite average! The cafe is beautiful , quaint and cosy!
Sophie Wang
My friends got creme brulee and a delicious chocolate cake to share. They rated the creme brulee quite highly. They also got a chai latte. Due to my sugar free diet, I was pleased to see some desserts for me, I got the diabetic soy hot chocolate which was creamy and heartwarming!
Nyasha Makunga
Has a wide variety of options. Some the presentation is way nicer than others but in terms of taste it’s pretty good. Definitely affordable and pretty nice selections.
Charis Yang
Me and my friends are always impressed by their inexpensive desserts, and most importantly they are super delicious as well. I personally love the waffles, iced peach tea, lava cake, hot chocolate... Definitely recommend to all dessert lovers.

I went here after having dinner with two friends. It was extremely busy on a Saturday night so we knew we came to the right place. We decided to share the chocolate tiramisu and the berry waffles. The chocolate tiramisu is absolutely to die for. It looks extremely sweet and rich but honestly, it isn’t as sweet as it looks and we all agreed we really loved how it wasn’t too sweet. I feel like I need to come back again to get a slice for myself and not share it!! The berry waffle was also really delicious! I’d definitely be back to try other things and I highly recommend this cafe!!
Isabel See
Food was great but service was bad. We were not greeted when entering the cafe. Only saw 1 girl doing her job(cashier, arraging stuff) while 2 other girls were busy chatting loudly behind the cake counter. We politely asked for a refill of hot water for our tea but got a stare in return. Heavily place the tea pot back to our table.

I bought the 'Italian Denso' Hot Chocolate here. If you like the idea of basically drinking/eating chocolate sauce by the cup then go for it, it tastes pretty much just like a mix of sugar, coco powder and skim milk. I though it was going to be like drinking liquid milk chocolate but I was disappointed, to be honest. It tastes like cocoa powder and sugar, not creamy chocolate. I have had much better drinking chocolates elsewhere at much better prices. The inside of the shop is dingy but has a lovely 80s/90s vibe. Staff were nice enough. Could be more friendlier? Overpriced menu. Other desserts/drinks/eats they serve may be nicer – based on other reviews.

as always a perfect after dinner dessert go to place. loves the chocolate mousse chocolate ice cream with waffle and the rich chocolate tiramisu (rich chocolate lesser tastr of a cheese cake)

Their interior decor makes me feel like i am getting lost in a sweet desert wonderland. Their waffles are so so nice with the ice-cream on top. Chocolate is amazing too. Other things else are just so so.

I had been in New Zealand for thirteen years now and we visit Parnell once in a while. For some reason I never been to Chocolate Boutique Cafe up until now after searching for some place to have some dessert. Was it in a busy place where there is a lot to see or is it because of that red telephone booth in front that gains more attention that the cafe at the back, most probably it’s the latter as we have tons of photo on that telephone booth.

Love this place. Affordable quality desserts. i ordered the passionfruit, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, nuts, cherry on top dessert. Perfect after dinner. Would love to go back & try their waffles.
Daine Kingma
Amazing cheap and delicious! Great staff, almost want to mark them down so not too many people go! 😁 highly recommend. Death by chocolate is next level and their creme brûlée is about perfect.
Asianfoodie
One of my absolute favourite places to dine in for dessert. Would strongly recommend the shared desserts but honestly, everything on the menu is perfect. Friendly staff with quiet and calm ambience. Another thing I really like about this place is that they don't overcharge you - it is a really honest place and deserves more than 5 stars.

10 May 2019
Good place for medium sized groups or friends to catch up. Chocolate shots were lot of fun. 2 between 6 people was too much to finish!
Kahlua cheesecake, too sweet to have all alone !

If I ever feel like waffles this place is my go to. Never had to wait too long and the staff are really nice and helpful. Like the idea of no wifi very refreshing.

Chocolate boutique is nestled in a beautiful old building oozing with character and most importantly it has all the classic desserts from way back.

The food is awesome and perfect for catching up with friends without having to pay as much as you would going out for dinner. You can relax and overdose on chocolate and waffles, what more could you want. The waffles are superb, and posses a gluten free option! They are classic style waffles with everything you need, ice-cream, and chocolate, enough said. The food quite simply can be described as classic and delicious, nothing to knock you off your feet, but you will never be disappointed.

The staff are friendly and the service is relatively fast. The inside is nothing special but cute. However, it is great to see the jars full of sweets behind the counter (which you can purchase of course).

Overall, this is a place that is perfect to hang out with friends or go on a quiet little date with your partner for a reasonable price. The desserts never disappoint but it will never blow you away, however, there is still something very comforting about that. You can't go wrong with the classics!
Saasha
There’s a lot of hype over this place but I can’t understand why. I thought the desserts were quite simple and things you could make at home. Staff were lovely and can’t fault the service but this place wasn’t for me.

I honestly haven’t been to chocolate boutique cafe in forever, it used to be my go to catch up with friends place.

The menu has almost endless options of sweets and drinks all at very reasonable prices, especially for Parnell. The chocolate eclair pictured is only $2.50!!

Their death by chocolate dessert assortment is one of my faves and they also have sweets in jars and gift boxes for sale.

A must visit if you’re in the area, takeaway or dine in available.

I have been to here for few times , The best chocolate sundae I’ve ever eaten, good atmosphere friendly staffs, This place is heaven for chocolate lovers
Floyd Moratti
I’m a mocha person and this place is one of my favorites. Not only does the chocolate taste amazing, the place is situated in a great spot and has a real natural feel to it. You always a bonus chocolate with your drink. Just the best feeling sitting outside this cafe drinking coffee on a sunny day.

After longing to come here for so long, we finally came! The inside is cozy with a spacious veranda offering some nice views. The customer service is good. The desserts are all served beautifully at reasonable and affordable prices. The waffles tasted absolutely divine and definitely lived up to my expectations. The outside was crispy and warm and the inside was crunchy soft (if that makes sense haha). Everything, the ice cream and chocolate, complemented the waffles soo well without being overly sweet. The Italian denso was also really rich and thick, but it eventually became too much to handle even for us chocolate lovers hahaha. Definitely recommend chocolate lovers and of course everyone to come and pay a visit to this delectable cafe :)))

Lovely location and environment but desserts and drinks not up to my (chocolate lover) expectation. Hope the dessert will be better on my return. :)

Love coming here after dinner for dessert. The white chocolate mouse is fantastic and the little sweets behind the counter always get me while waiting. Can be a bit tight on seating, but always worth it! The submarinos are perfect on a cold winter night too.

My happy pill. I don’t have a sweet tooth but this place makes me grateful I am alive! Their denso is so rich and sweet and oh so very satisfying. With cool ambience and chocolates all over the place, snap some photos and you’re sure to have some instagram-worthy shots.

This place is heaven for chocolate lovers ! Everything is full of chocolate❤️ I tried chocolate mud cake, caramel waffle, caramel brownie everything was super delicious 😋 The ambiance and service is great ! Also the place is pocket friendly. I would definitely visit again soon!

Absolute pleasure! Waffles with ice cream and jam were delicious, chocolate made me to forget about a diet :).
And it feels so cozy, private and sunny - amazing!

When I found this on zomato, I was expecting it to be good because it has a 4.4 rating. Reached the place, despite the cafe looked a little old and messy inside, there r alooooot chocolate displayed around the counter like wow looks like a chocolate specialty place, and the cafe was quite crowded as well so me n my bf were getting more excited. Looked at the menu n the price shocked us too cus u can get a waffle with two scoops of ice cream with $10?!?!?! C’mon what r u waiting for.

10mins later we got our waffle, looks a little small but okay its jz $10 u get what you pay okayyyy. Tried the ice cream, taste like those $4 1L ice cream where u can get frm supermarket. The waffle is so thin as well. Iced chocolate was okay but seriously nothing fancy. The chocolate coated marshmallow taste really cheap as well. Maybe I have high expectation cos when i see the cafe name ‘chocolate boutique’ and it sells so much chocolate! It’s like u wont expect urself to have a failed ketchup flavour tomyun fried rice when u dine in at authentic thai restaurant. Feels like Im having these at food court.
Will I come back? No I wont. But if you r looking for a place that u can sit down n have some cheap dessert, u can think bout it.
2 stars, 1 for the effort, another one for seats.
SpoonMe
As soon as I walked into this place I felt like it’s a typical place where tourists go because it’s “well known”.
It cluttered and messy inside and the tables that are there felt very uncomfortable to sit at and I say this since it is a place to have coffee and desserts so people want to sit there comfortably and chit chat.
The desserts weren’t bad but they didn’t wow me at all. They were fine to eat but felt like a standard apple crumble you could get any where else.
I was most disappointed in the coffee.
They were served in these weird long glasses and I knew the moment I saw it that it was not good. The coffee had huge bubbles and the taste it self was extremely bitter.
If you’re in the area it is the only place to have desserts other than movenpick so I understand why they are busy but the quality of their products are not worth it.
Deano
Great service.
Enjoyed the coffee waffle.
Neat and tidy place.
Would recommend
Finally found a dessert place which is not ridiculously over priced.

This is our go to place to satisfy our choco cravings post sumptuous dinner.

For reasonable prices, we are always treated with yummy desserts and drinks. Having a spacious veranda is a huge plus factor for dining families. It is our favourite spot where my son could enjoy crossing the mini wooden bridge a million times while my wife and I enjoy our food. Aj Chan

Great place, nice food and chocolates. Bill Clinton visited and didn't sexually assault anyone the chocolate was that good. Give it a try and take home some lovely nibbles.

This place is the cutest! It's the perfect place for a dessert date, and just like the name says, it literally has all things chocolateeeeee. They also have a wide range of drinks and all types of desserts to suit anybody with a sweet tooth. I highly recommend the tiramisu and the hot fudge cake (pictured). They're also open quite late, so it's no excuse for a cheeky little bit of indulgence after dinner!
Abhi R
Delicious treats and really competitively priced.

The lady at the front till could be a lot friendlier. Not sure if she was upset or just generally grumpy but felt a little unwelcome.

We tried the chocolate mud cake and death by chocolate, which were both amazing. Can't wait for our next visit!
Sofija
The chocolate boutique is a lovely place for a nice dessert. All of the food is delicious (and sweet). It can get a little crowded, especially during peak hours and it makes it hard to find a table.
Calvin
This little cozy spot in Parnell serves everything chocolate, it’s an all thing chocolate store with seatings throughout, I would describe their dessert almost similar to a ‘home-made’ style. Good for what it is.

Food-7.5/10
Service-7.5/10
Aesthetics-8.5/10

I went to this place after a swim and wanted to have a smoothie.. a quick search on Zomato showed up this place. so after reaching here, I thought I entered into this secret world where everything is made of CHOCOLATE (as the name suggests, Duh!). It instantly gives you this warm fuzzy feeling. The seating, the decor, the display, everything was perfection. I wanted to order so much more than just a berry smoothie. Btw berry smoothie was nice, and well priced. I am just disappointed that I didnt try other items on their menu, hopefully soon!
GeoPanda
Was disappointed as I came here for dessert with a friend and ordered the sticky date pudding for dessert, only to find out that it was a supermarket bought one. It was nice but not homemade. Good service though and friendly staff.

Loved it! So good. This cute cafe has a variety of desserts to choose from. The presentation and taste is good. The outlook and feel of the store is amazing love it! I really recommend this place

Lovely Ambience with great staff, friendly people around. Unique deserts to serve. You have really good location. I really loved the outdoor seating and we had literally 7 different type of deserts which were not common I suppose.overall Experience was too good :) Cheers Team Chocolate Boutique!
Annie Ren
This place offers a range of desserts that are extremely well priced (most of them are under $10) in an area especially like Parnell. Their chocolate desserts are tasty but today I tried the stick date pudding and it was SUPER sweet! I actually found it hard to eat and struggled to get through it after eating 1/3...
Tia Lindbom
The atmosphere is very odd, with disco balls throughout the cafe and odd items to decorate the place. There is so much more potential to make it look amazing especially when it is in such a prime location. The desserts are very cheap and taste top notch 👌🏼
Dxlche
You order at the counter and take a seat. This place definitely has some of the cheapest desserts ever. A sundae is around $6 as well as a mousse. Their other desserts such as waffles and creme brûlée are very reasonably priced too.
I ordered the s’mores sundae and the dark chocolate mousse. The s’mores crumb tasted a bit weird and the marshmallows could do with a bit more toasting but otherwise it was pleasant.
The dark chocolate mousse definitely went above my expectations. It was smooth and chocolatey without being too heavy or dense.

Wow... loved it . Awesome experience. Though we went around closing time the staffs were friendly. Really enjoyed the deserts. Would love to go there again.

Visited the Chocolate Boutique Cafe on a rainy night wanting something to warm me up and also satisfy my sweet tooth. Saw this cafe had great reviews so figured I would have to try it out! Such a cosy cafe, so much seating but it was packed to the brim! The chocolate waffle is delicious, the waffle is crispy on the edges but soft on the inside. Two big scoops of chocolate ice cream and whipped cream, very generous. Really enjoyed the dessert here and will back soon because there are so many items I want to try!
Shannon
I went here with high expectations given all of the positive reviews. My partner and I both ordered a couple of deserts and a drink each. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. However, the quality of the food was average and the highly-regarded waffles were nothing special. This would be a nice social spot and is decently priced, but I personally would not go back again due to the average food.
Steamed Hams
The place it self was pretty cool. I had a chocolate mousse cake with a Vienna créme hot chocolate. The cake was creamy and not to sweet, with a nice chocolate taste. The hot chocolate came with a huge marshmallow with cream at the top.
Couldn’t count how many times we (friends and family) have been here in this boutique.
It’s always a good choice visiting this boutique when your tongue and brain started to crave for any sweets - - desserts. ❤️😘
We will definitely come back here again and again and again! :)

Wanted to eat dessert and ended up here. Couldn't be happier about it really. First time in Parnell and managed to get parking just across the road. Parking is parallel and is pay and display before 6pm. Such a quaint little shop with chocolate, sweets and goodies all over the place. We weren't greeted or instructed on the routine. There was just a sign with directions which I thought was a bit odd. We placed our order and paid at the counter. While waiting for our dessert and hot drinks, I bought some of the chocolate pieces from the display, I just couldn't help myself.

Between myself and my fiance we ordered:Chocolate Butterscotch Creme (hot drink), a Chocolate Malt (hot drink) and Share Indulgence to share (slice of warm decadent chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate mousse, extra chocolate sauce, cream and 2 chocolate fish). We weren't told which drink was which and it wasn't obvious, we ended up drinking each others drink. The dessert to share was lovely, we both enjoyed it.

I definitely want to come back here and try more items from the extensive menu. The chocolates were also nice but I now have a favourite. The only thing I found lacking with the experience to give it a 5 star rating was the customer service. It was cavalier. Maybe it's because they have a lot of business in their store but it's always nice to be greeted with a smile.

I had ordered a takeaway. It was guava smoothie and a piece of tiramisu and creme brûlée. The smoothie was awesome and the tiramisu and brûlée were so yummy that I could keep on eating a lot of them. One of the best cafes that I have ever been to.

Had a sticky date pudding which was way too sweet and carrot cake was drizzled with passion fruit syrup .....not a great combination. Unlikely that we would go there again

Staff are not friendly or welcoming. Food is great though. Great prices too. Staff very cold as usual. Especially the women at front counter. A gentle word or smile could go a long way.

The chocolate waffles taste superb!!! They came in about 5-8minutes, I didn't really count but I was in a hurry finishing it so didn't take a photo.
The boutique inside also sold hundreds types (almost) of chocolate sweets confectionery, they all look super scrumptious!
Will definitely come back next time with friends and comment with fab photo!!! Love this place!!! Recommending it to anyone who loves chocolate, ice creams, and waffles! Absolute devine treat!
Adarsh Chaturvedee
It was such a memorable experience! The store feels like it is made of chocolate through and through! It's practically crowded with chocolate and other sweets! My eclair was great! The chocolate melted in my mouth and the taste was exactly what I expect in good chocolate, a little bitter mixed with sweet. Great place.

I have been to this place a few times with my friends and they really love the waffles here. Since I am not a big fan of waffles, my favorite dessert is the chocolate mousse. Considering that this is a fancy dessert place in auckland, the pricing seems very reasonable and decent. The quality, taste and presentation of the desserts is on point. A few things that I would recommend are chocolate mousse, tiramisu, hot fudge sundae and waffles (if you like them) :)

Taste: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Interior Deco: 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Customer service: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Recommend: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑
Although the atmosphere seems nice but the food taste quite average in my opinion. A bit overrated to be honest. Other than that I’m quite happy that there are many common dessert choices to choose from.

You have to love this place! One of the best desert place in Auckland with great selections which beats most other places in a heartbeat! Great service and very reasonable price. Finding table at peak times ( late evening) can be challenging but not impossible. Highly recommended.

Nice tucked away cafe in the heart of Parnell. Ordered the Iced Mocha, Chocolate waffles and Kahlua Cheesecake. One word, yum! Everything was sweet and tasty. Staff were friendly and polite. Good vibes and ambience. Must visit.

Went out with my partner and had an amazing experience, really impressive loved all the desert especially the maple waffle crunchy and delicious
Hasiba Zareh
I don’t even have a sweet tooth and I really loved the waffles here!
I had the chocolate waffles and my friend had the maple waffles! Both were so good!
The ice tea came after we had finished the entire meal so that was the only downer, but the lady was super sorry about it.
Overall the service was good! It would be better if they could try bring our food at the same time tho.
Came in for a sweet treat with friends. We ordered iced mocha, iced coffee, smores and a sundae. All were quite sweet and delicious to have. Would definitely come back for more!
Aimee
Pretty lights, decorated very nicely. Dessert came out nice and quickly, friendly staff and everything is wallet friendly. Definitely recommend

We have been waiting for 45 mins on a busy Saturday night. Desserts are fine but poor service indeed. Obviously not a good choice to go there unless u have nothing to do.
Maria
A friend recommended we meet at this place for afternoon tea. It's a small place so it may be packed during peak times but there wasn't much people there around 2pm. I ended up getting a berry smoothie since I'm not into sweet things too much and I had lunch beforehand so I didn't get anything to eat. They have a selection of sweet treats available though. You can check the menu beforehand on their page as well. The interior was cute. The smoothie was nice and refreshing. Of course, I'd recommend this place for people who really like sweet food.

as someone who is lactose intolerant ive never wanted to go here for fear of not being able to eat anything... BUT went along with my siblings anyway and found there was a vegan pudding and a dark chocolate drink that i could enjoy!... and it was amazing!... definitely going back to order it again!...

atmosphere was also amazing... you know the place is legit when its 9:30pm on a school night and its packed with people!... the waitress' were also super friendly and accomodating!... considering it is in parnell i found it extremely cheap and affordable!... defiantly recommend checking this place out!...

my only reason for giving it a 4.0 rating is because there were only 2 or 3 options for dairy free options... would have been happy to give them the 5 if there were a few more options!...

Such a great experience every time we go here! Everything on the menu is just delicious, they also charge such reasonable price for all of the desserts, we have been here well over 10 times and every time we are never disappointed! In the photo we ordered ice coffee, whites chocolate moose and a smore sundae. So sweet so yummy!

Beautiful cafe with a romantic ambiance. The outdoor seating area was lovely.
We waited at the tables for a bit, and was surprised to find out that you had to go to the front desk to order, and pay upfront. But that’s just their policy I guess.
I loved their wide selection of menu - definitely for chocolate lovers.
My cookies and cream smoothie tasted nice, but I thought it was a little bit thin. My friend’s feijoa & Apple smoothie was amazing! Refreshing and tasted strongly of feijoa.

We ordered a ‘indulgence’ to share. At $13, it was totally worth it, as it contained everything you could possibly want: chocolate mud cake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. Everything was delicious. The only complaints are that the mud cake could be a little bit more moist, and the ice cream was a little bit too soft.

All in all, the perfect place to come for a sweet date. We will definitely keep returning.
Winnie Luo
A cute little cafe with lots of different kinds of chocolate desserts.

The drinks are pretty yummy but the waffles we ordered were very average. Tasted like waffles you can make at home without too much effort.

The atmosphere is cosy but I did feel abit distracted by the conversations that the staff were having in the kitchen.

I feel like with all the new dessert cafes popping around everywhere, this cafe just isn't quite the place that I'd pick first anymore.

I tried Italian Denso(most popular) with a few of my friends. It was a bit too sweet for my liking(this could be different for others), but tastes amazing! Felt like chocolate melting in my mouth when I first tasted it. Lovely atmosphere and staff are friendly. Definitely a great place to have a cup of hot chocolate and relax. Also a nice place for dates. ;) Highly recommend.

Pretty good place to have dessert! Very affordable and a cute little place. Nice ambiance. The food was great! I liked the banoffee parfait. Pretty good service as well
Quinn Mai
The smell of this place always triggers me whenever I pass by. Nice decoration. The back yard is perfect for a view on a summer day. I ordered hot chocolate and tiramisu cake. Quality is among the top. There are many kinds of gift for chocolate lovers. Worth going back.
Edi NT
Nice place for dessert, nice location. Got the chance today to visit. Great choices of chocolate. Got it combined with ice cream. Suitable for summer day. Relax a bit and enjoy the dessert.

Came here for a birthday dessert party after the birthday lunch. It was already busy when we got here and the waitresses’ service was very fast as they quickly started to assemble a table for 9 for us.

The chocolate mousse cake was a killer topped with the vanilla ice cream - I wouldn’t mind getting diabetes from this store. 3 of us also got the fortune chocolates and my fortune was very unexpected LOL.

Overall, it was a great and enjoyable time.
Todd
A solid chocolate experience catering towards all lovers of chocolate! we got the chocolate milkshakes that lived up to there high expectations. They also offer inside a wide range of amenities and novelty teas!

Chocolate Boutique, delicious chocolate desserts and all sorts. Lovely place to go to when it's not busy. Very cute but could do with an update.

This place is a surprising winner in my books. It felt nostalgic, as a lot of what was on offer, the smell and the overall feel reminded me of dessert places of old. I ordered the chocolate mousse cake and my partner ordered the chocolate sundae. Both were as expected, chocolate overload with all the trimmings. You can also add for additional toppings if you ask. The place is a nice quiet getaway from the bustle of parnell and town. If you need a chocolate fix, this is highly recommended.
Katherine Ann-Marie
The best chocolate cafe in Auckland by far! I will always be back, the drinks and food are delicious and well priced. I enjoy it every time I come even though it is often very busy. Best times are for an afternoon treat when you can have the place more to yourself! Would highly recommend :)
Hyeon Sung
My friend said this is her go to, so I thought it would be good:) I ordered a dark hot chocolate drink and it was quite nice, especially in today's weather. I could really taste the dark chocolate.

Came with a group of 9 after my birthday lunch with friends. It was a Sunday afternoon so it was fairly busy but it was manageable.
The ladies got right away with reshuffling the tables and seats in their outdoor porch, we were very grateful for that!
Amongst us we got khalua cheesecake, chocolate waffles, mud cake, chocolate mousse cake, créme brûlée, chocolate pudding.
Everything came served with cream, some with ice cream as well. A few of us also got their fortune chocolate, which copped a few laughs from us.
The flavours of the khalua cheesecake was a bit lacking, tasted more like rubber rather than a cheesecake texture. Nevertheless it was enjoyable and we all had a good time!

Food: 8/10
Price: 10/10
Service: 8/10
Ambiance:7/10

It's a wonderful place to visit for chocolate lovers! There are many chocolate desserts served here. These will definitely satisfy any sweet tooth! My partner ordered Italian Denso which is a kind of hot and liquid chocolate. It must be finished until getting cold. I ordered banana split that isn't too sweet. I like it.
Mun Clair
Came here for my partners birthday for a few desserts. The restaurant itself is super cute and has a definite boutique vibe. The menu is super extensive so there's definitely something for everyone!

We got the iced mocha, chocolate waffles, and the chocolate indulgence. The waffles and the indulgence meal were absolutely delicious! The iced mocha was a bit bland however I appreciated it not being too sweet as it worked like a palate cleanser.

The food came to us really quickly despite the rush! Would give a 5 but the waitstaff were not welcoming or accommodating
Jeffie
Haven't had a chance to come and try the cafe part of this place as it's always packed but every time I visit I get a box of chocolates are always divine. The staff are friendly/helpful and the ambience is nice, who hasn't had a date here?
Ana
I love the desserts here, they never disappoint my sweet tooth cravings! I especially like the fudge brownie and the Italian denso drink. Pure chocolate heaven! The only thing I don't like about this place is the space - I came with two friends on a Sunday night and it was absolutely packed, so we had trouble finding a table (there were a lot of chairs being moved around tables as people come and go) and it was tricky because we had to order first. Other than that, this is hands down one of the best dessert places I've been to.
Mandy C
Finally came here after all the hype all over social media. We ordered chocolate brownie and chocolate mud cake. Came out super quick but too quick that we knew all they had to do was put it in the microwave to heat up.. the taste was good- chocolately and full of sugar.. but nothing extraordinary :( could get the same brownie and cake from the cafe down the road.

When someone is passionate about what they do, it shows. Chocolate Boutique Cafe is a shining example of this. On Sunday afternoon 27/8/17 I took my dear wife to CBC for a sweet chocolatety treat, a work mate recommended CBC after we discussed my experience at Cereal Killer Cafe. CBC was given big wraps and I wasn't disappointed. We ordered the warm Chocolate Mudcake with icecream and whipped cream and two flat whites. The staff didn't know we were pressed for time. It didn't matter. They were busy but service was prompt, friendly and professional. The Mudcake was moist, smooth and delicious. The coffee was great and the ambience sensational. I was impressed with their colourful displays of confectionary. We bought two boxes of chocolate coated coffee beans as birthday treats for friends. Take someone special to this cafe as a sweet passionate treat. You won't be disappointed.

Cute little place found in Parnell, cafe and seating located at the rear of a sweet shop.
Prices are low and reasonable. Totally on point !!
Selection: Great variety

We ordered a cherry & coconut shake and iced chocolate as well as 2 slices of chocolate mousse cake.
Delicious !!!
Saw so many other things I want to come back and try.
Thanks for a lovely experience Chocolate Boutique ❤️

Its a full star for this place. If you like chocolate, desserts this is the place for you. It was a friend of us who suggested the place. We went on a Sunday night around 9. The place was packed. After a while we got a table for 4.
So many options with photo of it..idea is indeed good. I ordered mudcake served with whipped cream. Chocolate denso was another order. We ordered few more also which I don't remember right now. But I loved all.definately will go again n again.
Foodie Chronicles
The waffles were really good, I especially loved the berry sauce! Unfortunately the hot chocolate I had was a bit average but will still come back to try some of the other interesting flavours!! The service was really friendly and fast.

An absolute disappointment. Came to Parnell just to try the hot chocolate that was recommended by the Urban List Auckland and from the moment we walked in to the empty cafe we were ignored by the two staff members. They didn't even acknowledge us when we said hello. We got our own menus, sat down and when we made eye contact and smiled at both staff members they looked away and walked off. Another couple came in and said hello to which they were ignored and not served. We walked out without having tried anything purely because of how rude the staff were. Sour and unfriendly, your cafe should be ashamed of its complete lack of customer service. Don't know how you think it's ok to treat your would be customers like this.

I just love everything about this place. The cafe it self looks sooooo delicious. I had death by chocolate nd it was just awesome. I will be trying everything on their menu 😋
Nidhi Chauhan
@Jaynish Shah
This place is simply amazing with lots and lots of choices and just too perfect for desserte lovers like me 😊. Moreover, my husband who doesn't have a sweet tooth has also become a huge fan of this place 😉
Veronica Te
My favourite thing about this place has to be their wide range of hot drinks that really compliments the desserts on offer. With that, the desserts are not anything amazing and you'll probably have tried better tasting mud cake or carrot cake etc elsewhere. I must say that they do a really good brownie though! As the name says its a boutique and definitely gives of the 'boutique-y' vibe - a little cramped for size, cute, friendly staff.
Bea Ambrosio
One of my go-to dessert places all year round! Very affordable and will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. You can tell it's highly favourable because it gets pretty packed, particularly at night.
Watt
Lots of good chocolate desserts. Tried limited edn green tea milkshake once, hardly had any green tea flavour in it - would recommend sticking to choc flavoured desserts. Berry and other flavoured waffles were below average.

Been here 10+ times :) submarino's, death by choc and hot chocs are top notch. Also love the cheesecakes. Waffles are a bit overpriced tho
GreeneggsnHam
It was really hard to find a seat and extremely crowded in the front by the counter. Waffles were good, so much sauce and not enough ice cream. The fondue dipping options were really odd. I just didn't think any of those go with chocolate sauce.. barely touched the fondue. Not sure if I'll return. If I do, I'll order something different.

I've always been a fan of cute little cafes and dessert parlours. Ambience matters as much as the food for a good dining experience. Chocolate Boutique doesn't only have the best desserts ever, it also has black furniture which makes the place look really chic. Don't miss out on their Hot Chocolate!
Jessica Thomson
Favourite place to go at night. They are open late which is perfect when I have chocolate cravings. I've been here well over 10 times now and it has never disappointed me. Highly recommend the chocolate raspberry tart!
Allie
Awesome shop! Been about 4 times now and it's always so delicious and super fast service no matter how busy it is. Love this place :) I live down the road so I'll definitely be back.

I think I may have found my new favourite dessert, those damn waffles of course. A romantic little shop in the heart of Parnell that offers inexpensive, delicious desserts & drinks that'll satisfy your sweet tooth. The peanut butter mocha just needed a good stir but sure went down a treat on that cold night. The homemade waffles - warm, fluffy and sweet topped with a generous serving of ice cream, whipped cream & your choice of sauce. Great service + chill vibes and a sweet menu (literally) = WINNER
Yaz
Great place for dessert. The best thing is pricing.
The prices are sooo soo well priced, you would expect it to be higher and it's so well priced!

Staff are great! The shop itself is kept very tidy and organised!

Food wise. We ordered some fudges and waffles, they took around 10 minutes to come and the quantity was great! Find that it's perfect sweetness it's not so sweet that your teeth hurt haha. The textures and taste in the fudge compliment the ice cream so well!

The presentation as I always say is "Insta Worthy" and with all due respect to other places this place is probably the best place for classic desserts in terms of value and price that I know of so far.

Negative is that the inside is kinda old and in need of a brave refreshing new look! But it's still great for some photos.

Also the shakes aren't great! Found it a bit over priced and bland, the decoration on them or taste weren't up to a standard set by other counterparts! Apart from that point that needs improvement it's a great little adventure to explore if your in Parnell.

Great place for dates and families without getting broke.

I'll be back when I'm around Parnell!
Nice and cosy chocolate cafe! Really good for the chocolate lovers but it's hard to find a place to sit and it may be a little cramped on other days
Neelam Chandra
This is a great late night spot for dessert ! Always craving something sweet at night and I can never find anywhere to get some good dessert from.
The menu here is insane ! So many pages full of sweet decadent looking items and it's cheap as chips.
I will definitely be returning
Sharan Dhanala
No complaints at all apart from the waiting time. Fabulous deserts, great ambience and friendly staff. No wonder this place is packed and the waiting time is about 10-15 mins.
I_like_pickles
Indulgent, decadent and delicious.
Beautifully crafted and presented. Very chocolatey and velvety smooth.
Everyone enjoyed their picks.
Spoilt for choice.
Stephy_NakiGirl
Great place to stop for something sweet after dinner. Their coffee is okay, but other cafes are probably better. Love their waffles as they are freshly made, light & delicious. There are a range of toppings to choose from & ice cream as well. Hot chocolate is also really tasty.
Annie Wilson
SUPER CHEAP! You'd think being in the city the prices would be over the top, but definitely not this place. Prices are great and their sweets are good!

(If you go late at night especially weekends, don't expect to be seated. First in first serve. It gets very busy)
S&G Take Auckland
Been here a couple of times with friends and my grandma who has a massive sweet tooth.

Granny ordered the sticky date pudding which was really delicious and moist. I ordered an eclair which was very average something you can buy in the frozen food aisle at countdown and defrost.

Previously i tried the waffles with berries which was delicious and a very generous portion size too.

There's something for everyone.
YumYum
We always take a quick stop at chocolate boutique every time we are in Parnell. Our favorite is "sticky date pudding & caramel waffles ". Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely amazing. Definitely a go to place for the people who likes desserts or chocolates or sweet things.

A great place to treat your taste buds!

I visited this wonderful place over a year ago and I've had a few visits since for those dessert night treats. There's a great selection of hot and cold desserts and something for everyone.
I'd certainly recommend this place if visiting Auckland.
In the unique location of Parnell, it might be difficult finding a car park near by on busy nights, or even a seat in the cafe for that matter, however the overall experience is worth it. The only critique I might make is a bit of confusion as to what to do upon entering, instead of awkwardly looking for seats through the cafe, perhaps a table can be sought by staff after ordering.

The photo attached is of their beautiful chocolate waffles
Ann R
If Auckland had a MB like Sydney this would be the closet comparison! All things chocolate and good selection of handcrafted sweets. Our cure for sugar cravings is satisfied here. They have a cute little outdoor area in the back that looks onto sky city tower. Very romantic for dates especially on foggy winter evenings.
LilMSunshine
Chocolate haven in the heart of Parnell. Location and ambiance is 💯primo. I like going there at night time even though it's the busiest of the day. Wide collection/range of chocolates and reasonable price. I have no specific favorite as I like all of their chocolates!! Must visit in Auckland!
Tavita Milford
Came here with a friend one time and looking at their Hot Chocolate, the Diabetic Hot Chocolate was definitely my calling. Despite how fancy the building looks from the outside, the name is definitely appealed me. After all, I live life on the edge when it comes to anything that can be diabetic. And I must say the Hot Chocolate was so sweet, but great. I was thinking, 'Well at least I made the right choice ordering this one, now I need to burn it off so I don't get diabetes' or as WIlford Brimley would say 'Diabeetus'. Anyways, a really great beverage.

The person who served me was so friendly and smiles were all around the place. The waiting was a bit long than expected, which was reasonable because it was busy by the time I was there.

All I could say is 'vintage exterior'. You know those houses that were built in the 19th/20th century. Very original I must say, the main thematic colour I identified while over there was black. It's very evident with the outdoor tables and chairs.
Tepa Wadsworth
I love this place, been here numerous of times! Went here tonight with my daughter, she ordered caramel waffles and a chocolate thick shake which turned out be a milkshake, and I had the chocolate mousse cake. It was really busy. I just don't think it's big enough anymore, people waiting around for a table, blocking the entrance and queuing at the small counter with one assistant behind it. The service was average, the staff seem very frazzled, and the sign that says "one air conditioner to be on at a time because your power bill is hideous". Is that even safe due to the small space? But like I said the desserts are great.
Abbey Lissaman
A busy Saturday night for the chocolate boutique! The decor and the presentation of dishes, including but not limited to whipped cream from a can, was a little dated - not quite as instagram worthy as many of the dishes from other popular cafes! In saying that, the desserts were delicious! We ordered a French Vanilla double latte, which was absolutley delicious and a perfect blend of sweet vanilla and milky coffee, and a peanut butter mocha, which was frothy and once stirred, the peanut butter melted and blended wonderfully. Along with our drinks, which may be enough for dessert by themselves, we also got an incredibly light and smooth chocolate tirimasu, and a moussy and rich raspberry chocolate tart. Both came, disappointingly, with canned cream, and bright red napkins. But the drinks and cakes were so good! There were plenty of candies and quality chocolates for sale, and adorable paper bags and packages to gift the chocolates in! I'm going to be back with other friends who love chocolate. I think they'll enjoy this place quite a lot.
Choco
Absolutely enjoyed my first visit to Chocolate Boutique. The caramello was delicious with the right amount of caramel added to the hot chocolate. The tiramisu just melted in my mouth, and didnt even last 5 mins. Their service was excellent and this made my day, Hats off to the staff. It gets a bit stuffy in the summers , so i prefer takeaway.
Josh
I almost wish I had a partner just to share the amazing experience I had at Chocolate Boutique, but nah, I actually want it all for myself. The atmosphere, desserts, drinks and staff are all wonderful. Chocolate Boutique focuses on food based around their quality chocolate, and I fell in love with this café in just one visit. I ordered a chocolate tiramisu and an iced mocha, all for $12, not to mention I was absolutely full afterwards. Full of chocolate bliss that is. The visual aesthetics on both orders were stunning, not to mention the quality and quantity it provided. I will most definitely be going back for more!
Sam Smith
A chocolate lovers heaven!! This place does chocolate dessert like no other in Auckland. However i would recommend taking a date with you as its sooo good its bad! I could barely finish my amazing dessert.
Onara
I don't know how Chocolate Boutique compares with other chocolate shops in Auckland, but I know it compares very favourably with the ones in Sydney and Melbourne. The chocolates are generous and rich, each one with a distinctly different design. And the shop itself is just delightful. We wandered in because, from the street it looked so popular. I can see why
Anna
This is the cutest little place and the selection of anything chocolate is amazing. The drinks menu is something like 5 pages long and all of it sounds so good.

I am diary free and you can make a good amount of drinks here almost diary free by making them soy, most of the chocolate drinks will have diary in them because of the chocolate obviously, however it's not in significant enough amounts for me to break out so I'm happy.

I would always come early to Parnell and pop in to this cafe for a drink before getting lash extensions next door, I swear half the reason I kept on going Ashley allen for extensions was because I got to visit this place!

I'm not even big on chocolate but this place is one of my faves. Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet stuff.
Jessica
A few years ago before dessert restaurants were as popular as they are now these guys used to be the place to go to! But now there is a lot of competition I find this place not be somewhere I would prefer to go to anymore. The location is small, so hard to find a table and service is average. But I can say if your feeling in the mood for a liquid chocolate drink defiantly try the Italian denso.
Michelle W
Cute lil place to have a chocolate to go with your other chocolates 🍫Very popular place in Parnell with a good range of sweets and drinks to choose from. Nice place to sit and relax!
Vijay S. Sethi
Beautiful place.. and absolutely great puddings! great ambiance and chocolate to die for! Subtle flavors, delicately done with great service.

Was craving for sweets so went to this place. We ordered mocha, waffles and brownie.. Everything was just ok but not value for money.
Coffee was the regular one, brownie i found hard not as soft as it should be n banana waffles were fine.
It has quite a small seating arrangement , outdoor seating z available but who sits outside on a rainy day.
Its pricey may be due to its location.
Bonita Tiamo
First time visiting, waffles were nice and soft. Second visit, waffles were super super hard/burnt/brown not golden. We were told it was supposed to be hard but we have never been served super super hard waffles ever before at other cafes.

Sorry but we won't be back.

We happened to be in the area and took up the offer.
The waffles were lovely this time :). The iced mocha and feijoa smoothie was really nice aswell. Highly recommend these.
The chocolate fondue was below average considering how much it cost.
Service was good.
Thanks for correcting our previous experience. We really appreciate it :)

I chose a box of chocolate for my friend as her birthday present, unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of it. The chocolates are soo nice and all of them look tasty and good looking. Compared to some other stores, their prices were reasonable.
I also chose a candy-like chocolate. It was so cute!!!

Delicate, Delicious and Divine!

Yummy!

I heard about this place through my friend who recommended it to me. She said that Chocolate Boutiques is one of her favorite places she goes to in Auckland. The chocolate drinks are quite expensive, but its so delicious and delicate in your mouth! It is basically like drinking melted chocolate. Would I go there again? Definitely yes! The staff there are lovely and yes I do love chocolate!

I also realized Parnell Village was off the old zip zap national bank visa ad circa 1980, because I recognized that cute bridge in the ad.
Coz I Can
I heard good things abput this place but was sadly dissapointed with my visit. My friend and I decided to pick this place after a lacklustre Japanese meal. We went here and wasnt impressed. We were suprised at how cheap everything was and thought this place is amazing for the price of everything. That was until received what we got. My friend got Creme Brulee and i had the Fondue. Dried Fruit, Hard Sponge fingers , and marshmallows had me feeling the dish was incomplete. Saving grace was the Pretzels and the Chocolate Dip. LOVED the Chocolate 😍😍😍
Eat And Be Merry Crew
Think of a hot chocolate that is so thick you need to eat it with a spoon. A hot chocolate that is exactly like drinking melted dark chocolate. A hot chocolate that would more than satisfy the cravings of any chocoholic. That is the Chocolate Boutique’s Italian denso… At peak times there can be queues for tables and a long wait, but the end result is totally worth it.
Coffeeomg
Girls' Night Out = Chocolate Pot & Shared Desert between 3 of us. Absolutely guiltless. :) Otherwise, I will recommend any hot chocolate drinks from the manu. A great way to finish the night and to warm your heart up before bed. (And I did buy some chocolates from the shop to share with others at home, but the chocolates didn't quite made home with me...)
KG
Went here with a bunch of friends one Friday after going out for dinner. Appeared at 945. The shop was closing at 10. People working didn't seem impressed with us arriving so close to closing. Order two drinks both were amazing. Although the wait time was a while. Got told to leave as they were closing. I would suggest staying open later because there were still a decent amount of people there. The place was packed with people still at closing time. Would go back again maybe when it's not so close to closing time!!
Gemma Leigh
Love their eclairs especially with the chocolate flavoured cream too. The italian hot chocolate is delicious too but best on its own as a shared desert on a cold night, its too rich to be eaten alone! :)
Gautham Vasudevan
If you love chocolate then this is the place. Went here on a busy Saturday evening after dinner and the place was almost full. Had to wait for like 5-10 mins to get a table but after ordering the items and tasting it, it was worth the wait. Yummy desserts straight from the heart at cheap rates :)
Julie
I have been to chocolate boutique many times, it's one of my favourite dessert places in Auckland! Great atmosphere, lovely food, reasonable price and easy parking. Below is a break down of all the desserts I have tried so far, have to strongly recommend the chocolate waffle!
Waffles
I tried the caramel waffles and the chocolate waffles; I would say the chocolate waffle is one of the best in Auckland! It was the chocolate waffles that draw me back here again and again. Most of the waffles sold outside are soggly by the time they get to you, but Chocolate boutique’s waffles are always crunchy and along with the ice-cream and cream, is like heaven! I reckon the chocolate one is better than the caramel one because the caramel one with hocky pocky ice-cream is a little bit too sweet, the chocolate ice-cream on hot crunchy waffle has the right amount of sweetness as the chocolate’s bitterness dampen the sweet taste, and add a rich favouring to it.
Tiramisu
It was a nice tiramisu, but wasn’t too memorable.
Chocolate mud cake
The chocolate mud cake was descent, is better to have it with the cream at the same time. It was good, but wasn’t too memorable.
Chocolate mousse cake
I like the ratio of the mousse and cake (is not just mousse like a lot of shops), and the mousse is quite smooth.
Crème brulee
I like the crème brulee, it’s always satisfying to crack that caramel on top! The crème brulee had the right amount of thickness and smoothness to it.
Dairy free Submarino
This is probably my least favourite drink; it wasn’t too sweet so that was good. But I didn’t like the way it tasted like diluted chocolate with water, so I didn’t even finish the drink.
Cookie and cream smoothie
This is one of my favourite drink from chocolate boutique! I don’t really like drinks being too sweet, and this smoothie is just right in terms of sweetness! But the cookie taste wasn’t as strong as I hope it to be, but still pretty nice.
Italian denso
My cousin have tried this one, she's a big chocolate fan, but even she said it was too rich, but then to be fair, she did order a death by chocolate as well, so I guess it should still be quite nice for the chocolate lovers out there
A paradise of desserts, chocolates and all the yummy treats as well as gorgeous give aways or gifts.

A must visit place in the artistic parnell village... very boutiquey and buzzing dessert place in town.
Pancham Lakhanpal
One of the best place to visit . Love this place. Must visit for every one. The service is so good . I will be visiting again soon . I like the siting place too .

The service was great, all the staff that we came in contact with were nice & helpful.

We went on a busy Saturday night. So it was Jam packed.
The quality of the food does slightly degrade I think especially around their peak hours however a must try for all the foodies

Also it's a great date night material either with your partner or friends or family.
I also like how they are open till 10:30

It's axiomatic that chocolate is a gift given from the gods, and on a cold winters night in Auckland, I and a few friends adventured out of our fan-warm rooms in search of some dark, gooey, and sweet elixir.

Our journey landed us at Chocolate Boutique where we ordered a Hot Jaffa, Mocha, carrot cake and not 1 but 2 blazing chocolate waffles.

The carrot cake was disappointing and my advice would be to steer clear! The drinks we ordered was nice and the Jaffa was divine thanks to its strong citrus kick. Would recommend the waffles, although they are not outstanding.

Good prices for what you get considering this joint is situated in the middle of Parnell's hustle and bustle.

Showstopper: Drinks are tasty and chocolatey.

Overall Grade: B+

We found this gem while looking for a dessert place with my younger sisters
They had such a great environment with a cosy feel. The staff were so friendly. The prices for the desserts and chocolates were so cheap and they have the option of eating in or purchasing chocolate or lollies. Definitely worth visiting again

If you're looking for a cute cafe that's at the same time modern, then this cafe is it; Chocolate Boutique. I remember the surprise I had coming here as a surprise date from my lover, it was just amazing. The employees were quite friendly, the sweets they have were simply brilliant as well as the hot beverages. The style of the cafe as well as the location makes you feel like you found that hidden gem within the leaves. The sweets that we had was a rich Tiramisu and a Sweet Banoffee Parfait, both presented quite nicely. As for beverages, which sadly I vaguely remember was a Gingerbread Maple Hot Chocolate and a Submarino. Overall, this cafe was splendid apart from the slight busyness and the occasional crowds loitering around.

I had high expectations when I came into this store. Their desserts were pretty pricey for the quality. It tasted store bought to me. I ordered a chocolate tiramisu with a chocolate sauce that tasted artifical. Presentation was good though. I don't think I'll be coming back. You'll also have to be patient coming into this store as the waiting time is very long.

Went here for the first time today, I ordered the steamed chocolate pudding, and when it came out the presentation was average not worth taking a picture... And go to taste it and it's actually just an Aunt Betty's steamed pudding, I can tell as I really hate those things! I even got my boyfriend to try it as he eats those regularly and without me even telling him what I thought he said 'Aunt Bettys' .

Being open till late this is one of the best spots for the late night dessert of an after dinner sweet with a cup of tea. Great variety of desserts in the menu from brownies to waffles. Well priced. Only wished a wait time could have been less, especially for takeaway orders. But it is a busy spot, understandable.

Old time favourite place😊
Their oreo milkshake is the Best👍👍
Chocolate fondue was quiet disappointed.. Came with small portion of real fruits and rest of them were dry fruits. Not worth the money to get choco fondue.

A well established Parnell favourite, Chocolate Boutique is everyone's favourite destination for all things... you guessed it, chocolate.
The first time I visited, I was on a bit of a no-sugar phase. They make a pretty amazing sugar free hot chocolate that tastes really good, makes you wonder why you really need sugar in anything really - I don't believe that it had any sweetener, because it didn't taste 'sweet' it tasted 'dark' like you'd get if you got 90% Cocoa Lindt Chocolate.
There is seating inside and out, and they also do takeaway drinks (not sure about meals). The servers are friendly, and the store has a cosy feel to it. They also sell a range of other chocolate products that would make nice gifts, so make sure you have a browse!

This place is amazing. I've been here around ten times already and every time I go I always leave satisfied and happy with a smile on my face. My favourite drink is their iced mocha. The coffee taste is not too strong and when it's mixed with the chocolate taste its just absolute bliss. Their chocolate caramel brownie is also absolutely amazingly delicious. I usually feel quite sick quickly after eating sweet stuff, but I could finish the whole slice without feeling sick at all. The texture of the brownie is very soft and topped off with the caramel makes it perfection. I also had the Death by Chocolate which nearly killed me since it consisted of 4 scoops of chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge, chocolate sauce and whipped cream, but even though I felt a little sick and I couldn't finish it, the taste was amazing and I loved every bit of it. I've also had the lemon cake which was okay, it wasn't amazing but it still tasted quite nice. Their waffles were also really nice. They were nice and crispy and topped off the ice cream. Overall this place is truly one of the best dessert places I have every been to, I am never disappointed and I absolutely recommend this place to everyone, especially chocolate lovers like me.

Great spot for chocolate lovers. Well, who doesn't love chocolate anyway?!

Visited on a Monday night when we had a light dinner and felt like we needed some sinful indulgence. Heard about this place from friends and only good things!

The location is great, quaint and very romantic. The cafe is cozy and has plenty of tables outside as well as inside. Since it was pleasantly cold we decided to sit outside.

Between the two of us, we had chocolate pudding which came out warm and gooey with ice-cream and whipped cream. Delicious! And perfect warm dessert. The eclair was tiny and not that great. Wouldn't order again. Mousse cake was tasty as well. My partner went a bit overboard and got the hot chocolate as well. No complains here either. I got chamomile tea and we sat and enjoyed our drinks. Great way to end a Monday night.

Everything we ordered came out fairly quickly. Easy on the pocket too. Quite a few people walked in past 9 pm as well. Great place to catch up for late evenings.

Will be back soon. I see myself enjoying their delicious hot chocolate on a winter night.

Great food. Just amazing. If only their service matched their food standards. Found them too arrogant just near rude. But guess for chocolate one can forego that!!
Disha
Chocolate lovers paradise. This store is super cute has so much to offer that could confuse you. Have a nice look at the menu and see what your taste buds is craving for. Love the backyard seating which has a gorgeous view, the dark and white wood interior combination complements the theme of chocolate. You can pick up assorted chocolates as takeaway 6 pieces for $10 dollars. It also has a range of shakes, coffee, cold and hot desserts which are priced moderately.
Always a delicious sinful experience coming here.

Chocolates are great and staff were attentive in serving me.

The coffee was excellent.
I'm grateful to the manager who pays attention to customers needs and to make my experience a pleasurable one after a hard days work.

Such a variety of mouth watering desserts here and it is definitely one of the best places to go for dessert in Auckland.

Nathalie
Love love this place! My fav chocolate cafe in Auckland! Very chilled and calming environment and plenty of choices. Although their items are a little pricey the price is worth it because quality is super yum and its a nice place to treat yourself! My only negative is that the place is very small and it gets a bit crowded other than that it's not too shabby for a romantic date night!

Been to Chocolate Boutique Cafe just to many times. Lovely little cafe to get your sweet cravings fixed! They normally get really pack especially towards Thursday - Sunday evenings. So make sure you get in early, if not you'll need to be super patient as it's a great place for girly catch-ups, that means a very long waiting time.

Seriously, you can't quite go wrong with anything you order on their menu. (as far as I know).
Jaimie McLeod
We love the Chocolate Boutique and have been here several times. The food is amazing and the service is very good. The rating would of been 5/5 expect last time I went there, I ordered 'Death by Chocolate' and they were out of chocolate Ice-cream. This must of been a one off so I don't mind that much, it was still delicious. Will definitely go back.
Vikas Yadav
We have been here twice. First time it was recommended by a friend and second time it was on our own. Amazing place, I would call it a gem in the heart of Parnell. Great selection of desserts which actually are a sinful treat. Tastes amazing and portion size (wrong reference for a dessert) but make it a value for money sin. Reasonably priced would not deny your pocket if you take your Bae out for a treat.
Friendly and very helpful staff. Will be a regular #chocolate

■ Huge Selection
■ Good location
■ Good atmosphere

■ Chocolate desserts can be improved
■ Not enough seating

I really liked my first time here and it's more based on the whole experience overall rather than just the desserts. There's a huge selection in the chocolate menu and not much range in everything else. We really didnt know where to start so got recommended the Italian Denzo which is their best seller. I personally didnt enjoy it that much coz it was so rich and almost sickening after a while, but the mousse cake and creme brulee made up for it! They were soft, light and creamy.
Im not usually one for rich and heavy desserts and most of the chocolate menu here is pretty much that but if youve got a big sweet tooth, this is defs a great place! I dont recommend coming here after lunch or dinner though just coz the dishes can be pretty overwhelming and if youre there in a group, youll be tempted to order a whole lot of stuff and regret it later after being too full coz it feels like an entire meal itself.

The staff are really nice and attentive and really make sure you get an idea of what the boutique is like by mentioning what new stuff is cming up on their menu and also whats out in store in their cabinet/shop area. They also keep checking on you to see how everything's going. The setup's quite small with limited seating so best to come in the daytime when it's not busy! Good location, centred in Parnell so 5 minute drive from Auckland uni!

Yummy !! Can't wait to go back will definitely recommend it . Service was quick and ambience was excellent to spend a nice and quiet time with friends

Really nice place and the staff is very gentle.

Went there for some coffee, which was better than average, and some snack, which wasn't.

Although beautiful, the crème brûlée didn't taste that good and I missed a more powerful vanilla. The consistence made it look like a pudding.
Mahvish Iqbal
I really enjoyed my first experience at the chocolate botique!! The indoor aesthetics were absolutely stunning and created a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy their sweet treats. The presentation of the items my family and i ordered were also lovely. Overall the taste of what I ordered was good, but getting too many chocolate items can get quite rich!! My personal favourites were the chocolate mousse cake and chocolate waffles - both tasted divine. The service was prompt and the staff were really friendly! I'm already looking forward to my next visit! ☺

So tonight's experience was pretty disappointing. My partner and I took our 2 children and while the kids enjoyed their dessert ours never showed up.

1 star given for the lady who served us and organized our refund. 1 star given for value.... not over priced at all. Tidy, clean etc.

However when you order 4 desserts, 3 of them exactly the same... and 2 of the 4 turn up.

We watched the girl return from 'up the road' with the bananas she needed to complete our order but they had missed 3 opportunities to let us know.... and then when they had the required ingredients they still forgot to make ours. The kids enjoyed theirs. We gave up after 20 minutes. (35 minutes since ordered)

In future may I recommend....
1. If you run out of something advise the customer and ask if they would like to reorder, refund or wait. (Before running up the road)
2. When 2 of 4 orders are delivered to a table advise that the other 2 orders are delayed and revert to point 1.
3. When you do get the ability to make the final product make it your priority as the customer has been waiting longer than anyone else. Totally forgetting is unforgivable.

We also ordered 2 coffees which did arrive with the waitress saying here are your hot chocolates. We said.... are these ours? As we ordered coffee. She went to the kitchen to check but never came back to let us know. So we drank them anyway.

Refund of desserts given straight away and an explanation as we walked out the door about bananas.... but we had already worked that it by the end of our wait.

We'll simply not return. Too many other options if we want to treat the kids.

If you are a chocolate fan, then this is a must try..
Good ambience , service and deserts.. They have got a variety of drinks and deserts and never seem to disappoint me.
The British Kiwi Foodies
We had white chocolate and chocolate frappes with a cheesecake and chocolate waffles. Highlights were the little white chocolate bailey's pieces and the menu had a great variety. The chocolate waffles were amazing! The cheesecake was a little "chewy".. like it had too much gelatin and I would pick something else next time. Would happily return to see what other treats they have
Mezza
Brought my Mother in Law here for a sneaky treat. The view overlooking the Sky tower was fabulous! We ordered the Pav, Death by Chocolate, Chocolate Brownie, Lemon Meringue pie and two chocolate submarinos. My favorite was the Death by Chocolate Sundae. So FREAKING GOOD! I didn't even get to taste the pav as my MIL wolfed it down. The brownie was sadly disappointing. It was hard and dry. The lemon meringue pie wasn't what we were expecting and I wouldn't order again. However, I love this place just for experience!

This is a favourite for me and my girlfriends. Yummy deserts and chocolates to die for!

In the summer, or the winter, seats are hard to come by at this place is the only thing.
The Italian Denso is one of my favourites on a cold (or hot) day! It's decedent and super smooth that even thinking of it makes my mouth water :-) yummmmmm

Is definitely one of my favourite places to go. Been here many times and it still seizes to surprise me that everything new I try turns out to be wonderful. The service is absolutely great, despite the fact that my friend had chocolate dropped on her (it was a great laugh) the lady was extremely kind, cleaning it up and helping us out immediately! Will definitely continue to recommend the place to others in future.
Izzy Mendoza
I used to love Chocolate Cafe to death, seeing as it was a cafe centred on my favourite thing in the world. But as of late the standard of their desserts have dropped, had a brownie and it tasted like something out of a box, and the sticky date tasted artificial - sorely disappointing. No doubt the chocolates are still good though!
Ruth
Great place for chocolate lovers!!
Lovely place to go in the afternoon with my besties~~~~
Absolutely will go there for the second time~and it's not far from the city
Melissa Bishop
I have came in once or twice and I really enjoyed my experience, the team were very friendly, it was hard to choose what I wanted to eat because everything sounded so delicious! The environment is lovely and will be coming back soon with friends ☺️
Charlotte
Best place for chocolate lovers. It's like chocolate heaven... it's been around for as long as I can remember and it's still one of my fave place to go for desserts. They have yummy chocolates for sale and dessert, drinks etc galore.... everything is great! Everything ordered always arrives quickly and they're well presented and delish! After their recent expansion, they have a great outdoor seating area with a lovely view of Parnell and Auckland :)
Claud Hoskins
Went here last night with my partner, such a cute place! We were lucky enough to sit outside under the fairy lights and could see the sky tower perfectly lit up in the distance. Unfortunately they didn't have the drink I ordered but instead got the tiger chai latte and that was even better. Perfect place for a cheap(ish) date. Definitely recommend sitting outside of the weather allows you to!

Great place for a chocolate lover.
The interiors are very eliteand welcoming but
The service was okay. We waited long without any acknowledgement !
The white chocolate mousse is my favorite.
Also hot chocolate was truly delicious.
Overall great time but not really good value for money.
Zahra Howell
We went there last night. Ordered mud cake and chocolate pudding. We both love dark chocolate and these two options were made of dark chocolate. However, we found them very sweet and not really dark. It was still nice though and we liked them but not as dark as we liked.. By dark I assume sth like 70% dark lindt chocolate or higher.. I loved the experience and would probably go back but I'd suggest making some real dark chocolate options for their dark chocolate lover customers. The staff were nice and friendly and the service was quick. Reasonable prices as well! Which makes it awesome

For years I had visit this little spot. And I still enjoy it now. Sweet little chocolate spot. Great for times in need of a choc fix. Sit and relax out back, you may not always get a seat. But don't give up. It's worth it.

Love to go quiet a few often. Loved their waffle items. Nice environment. Need to go again and again to try their all items. Recommend to all.

My absolute favourite pairing = Pistachio Macaron + Apple and Fejoa Smoothie! That's my go-to order whenever I come here xD

Been to the chocolate boutique many times now and have tried a few of their chocolate drinks along with their waffles, macarons, and cakes. The waffles are pretty average but their chocolate drinks are worth trying. There are so many things on the menu so it can be difficult if you're indecisive and if you want to try everything! xD

Their apple and fejoa smoothie is my absolute favourite, which is ironic considering it's mainly known for their diverse range of chocolate drinks :P Their pistachio macaron is probably the best I've tried from anywhere, and also the best out of all the macarons they have to offer.

It's a lovely little cafe that's located in Parnell but parking can be difficult to find. Also, I'd recommend sharing the Italian Denso between 2 or 3 people :P

I had wanted to come here for ages! A place that sells chocolate and desserts?? Yes please! There had been a lot of hype about it on Instagram. Chocolate death, food comas, pure indulgence? I had to give it a go! My cousin and I arrived here around lunch time. We were so excited as soon as we walked in! At first we had a bit of trouble finding the place. We went down the side and out the back, realising we couldn’t get in through the back. Once we found the front door, we were welcomed by the sweet smell of chocolate. We chose our own cute table in the window, looking out onto the road. I got our menus, and some water, because I think you’re meant to serve yourself? I was so overwhelmed by the menu! There were too many choices I just couldn’t decide!!! It ranged from waffles, to cakes, ice cream sundaes, and much more!!! After a hard time deciding, I opted for the warm chocolate pudding with ice cream and cream. My cousin got the smores ice cream sundae!

It didn’t take long before they arrived!! They looked yummy, and I couldn’t wait to dig in! My chocolate pudding was warm and moist, paired with the cold ice cream, it was delicious! However, I wasn’t a fan of the cream and sauce, as the cream was from a can, and the chocolate sauce reminded me of the one you get on sundaes at Mc Donalds. It was still nice though! I also tried my cousin’s sundae. I ate a bit of the cookie crumbs with the ice cream, and it also came with chocolate sauce, toasted marshmallows and cream.

Overall it was a nice experience. It’s a good place if you’re looking for dessert, but nothing special! ☺

We dined in on a Friday evening. Reasonably priced located in the heart of Auckland, this place will satisfy the tastebuds of all chocolate lovers. This was my first time in here and I will definitely be visiting more.
We were 3 of us and shared the "share indulgence", the chocolate waffle, a berry smoothie and an eclair.
Share indulgence and the chocolate waffle are to die for if u like chocolates. I loved the berry smoothie as well, as I'm an avid lover of berries too.
We plan to try the fondue next time, but wish it combined 2 of my favourites: chocolate and strawberry

Mouth watering chocolate for the chocolate lovers out there... I love the ambiance... Nice view of the sky tower... The service is good... Highly recommended...

Really good sweets and very relaxing place! All the dessert is reasonably priced and good quality! I love this place and would recommend my friends :)

An old yet still popular small cafe in Parnell. The name explains it all - they sell chocolate ... but it does come at a price.

Food: 6/10
Service: 3/5
Ambience: 3.5/5
Value: 3/5
Overall: 15.5/25

Decadent! Absolute decadence with our orders. Hits the sweet spot with each visit. It's just I wish there was more variety, as well, offering seasonal menu.
Also, I strongly suggest for them to put their menu on their page on zomato. It would be so helpful for future customers.

Such a cute place! I loved everything about the set up of this choc cafe. The lady who served us at the counter was absolutely lovely! However the waitresses who bought our food out weren't as warm lol but thats okay cause the atmosphere was great! The desserts we had were really sweet but sooooo good! Loved it :) Will definitely come back here again :) Thanks Chocolate Boutique xx

Situated in the heart of Parnell, this cosy boutique offers an abundance of options for the sweet tooth. If you have specific dietary preferences or needs, you don't have to miss out either! Offering a sugar free, dairy free and gluten free options allows everyone to satisfy their sweet cravings. It's easy to overdo it so be careful in ordering! The hot chocolates can be somewhat sickly sweet halfway through but amazing amount of options to choose from. The selection of chocolates and other sweets in the cabinet is overwhelming in itself. This place can get really busy on an evening in the weekend so be prepared to have takeaway or wait it out for a table. Definitely recommend the sticky date pudding and the macaroons.
One of the best chocolate eateries I've ever found. Fantastic menu, wonderful attentive staff and quick service. The only problem was what to choose from the menu. Will definitely be back! Highly recommended.
This is a pretty cute place to come with a group of friends or after a big dinner, but unfortunately the desserts are pretty disappointing.

The waffles are pretty much toaster waffles with ice cream and chocolate sauce. I could make them at home myself. Was pretty underwhelmed! The hot drinks are really nice, I'll say that.

It's a really nice location I just wish the desserts were a bit more creative! The redeeming quality is they are all chocolate based, and it's pretty hard to get it wrong with chocolate.
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered:
Chocolate Frappe
Chocolate Butterscotch
Chocolate Tiramisu
Praline White Chocolate Heart
Passionfruit Chocolate Heart

Bill: $20

Big tummy: To be honest, we discovered The Chocolate Boutique by accident, as our first choice was unexpectedly closed, but wow... what a discovery. The store is relatively small and bustling, but if you're lucky enough to get a seat you'll soon find that the cosy layout adds to the ambience.
Firstly, the selection is amazing. It took us ages to decide what to get and even after we ordered, upon watching other customers' orders arrive, we were already planning what to order next time. The chocolate tiramisu was absolute perfection... rich but not too sweet... and the portion size was ideal for sharing. I ordered the chocolate frappe, while my girlfriend ordered the chocolate butterscotch, but in the end we ended up swapping as we preferred each other's drink. I found the frappe was refreshing, without being too spectacular, while the butterscotch was deliciously rich... pure heaven in a glass. For me the standout star though was the passionfruit chocolate heart. It's not often you find passionfruit combined with chocolate and CB's little creation left me asking why. Perfectly encapsulating the passionfruit flavour within the chocolate shell, it was one of the best treats I've ever tasted. I just wish I could find it in the supermarket.
We will certainly be visiting again and can't wait to explore more of what CB has to offer.

Little tummy: As an avid chocolate lover, I was excited when we discovered this little gem in Parnell (I even forfeited an offer of gelato to give CB a chance, which is unheard of for me!). I ordered the tiramisu, which surpassed all my expectations. It was absolutely perfect. Delicious and flavorful without being too sweet. Personally I found my chocolate butterscotch to be a bit too sweet, but that might possibly be because I got a bit excited and threw my chocolate fish into the sea of rich chocolate. For myself, I actually enjoyed my boyfriend's chocolate frappe more, as the taste wasn't too rich or sweet. As a side note, we also found the little sign by the door (as shown in our photos) to be particularly endearing. A very nice touch! We'll definitely be back to try more of their desserts.

Update: We came back here last night to try a few more goodies. This time we opted for the caramel chocolate brownie, a salted caramel hot chocolate and a chocolate frappe. Again - everything we ordered was utter perfection. We couldn't help but notice too that compared to similar establishments, Chocolate Boutique is actually relatively cheap. We've never managed to spend more than $20 there... and that includes a sneaky few chocolates on the side. Perfect portion sizes, absolutely divine taste, comparatively cheap... CB is simply one of the best dessert places in Auckland.

Firstly, the chocolate boutique is a nice spot to indulge, celebrate or just hang out. Secondly, they have a huge menu so each time you go there's always something new to try! I had this dense Italian chocolate thing and I've gotta say, at first it was chocolate heaven, but after a few sips it was a little too rich. Maybe go for the chocolate shots?
Selin
Anything chocolate is a must-try. This cafe is casual, affordable and delicious. The menu is filled with sweet infused happiness and you may also choose from tiny bits of chocolate variety from the tray in display. I probably liked everything there, but the waffle. (May be its just me).
Shelly
The drinks and dessert here are so sweet and decadent that you go away feeling sick lol. I always used to get the waffles but got sick of it after a while. Now whenever we go, we share because we know its going to be too much. Staff are not that friendly and inviting and coffee is below average. Creme de menthe is a beautiful creation though! A shame the staff/service ruin it for me.
Helena Chen
A classic choice for after dinner dessert, I have been here many times since living in Auckland. I find it can be a bit hit and miss; I love the banoffee parfait and chocolate mud cake, however I would not recommend the sundaes at all. They do a decent hot chocolate, and the prices point is really good compared to many other dessert places around the city. It can often be quite busy so I'd pick my nights here smartly to avoid waiting around. Overall, a good place for dessert if you know what to order/what you like from their menu.
SS
I was so so excited to come back to The Chocolate boutique after 3 or so years!!! I had remembered it to be absolutely amazing. Last night, I was let down.

Let's begin with the good - they have more seating now compared to three years ago. The menu and chocolates on display are still exactly the same AND the prices are still the same!!! Seriously can't think of anywhere else that charges $5ish for a creme brûlée!!!!

As I'm not too keen on chocolate, I went for the creme brûlée. My friend had the white chocolate mousse. Desserts were served literally as we found a table and took a seat. The creme brûlée had a really really thin layer of caramelised sugar, to the point where it didn't break, it just sunk into the custard when I applied pressure with my spoon. The custard itself wasn't creamy at all, rather solid. Kinda seemed like it had sat in the cabinet for a while.... The mousse though, was a complete let down. It just wasn't mousse. It was definitely more of a jelly/gelatinous pudding. It held the shape of the glass jar even when spooning it out. It also didn't melt at all, you literally had to chew it for it to break down. It was bland and didn't have that chocolate-yness you would expect at all.

Two points for service, cleanliness and not charging a bomb for dessert. But still, would not visit again.

My favourite chocolate cafe in Auckland. Cool vibe inside, its like chocolate heaven. The chocolate display is amazing and I do recommend the chocolates. Ambiance is 10/10 and fills up quite quickly after dinner time. Highly recommended for chocolate drinks and desserts at reasonably good prices.

As a dedicated chocolate lover, it isn't too hard to impress me. With that being said, my sweet tooth is always completely satisfied by The Chocolate Boutique Cafe. The desserts I have had over time are flavoursome, although a little rich and stodgy. As a piece of constructive criticism, it would be immensely pleasing if there were some desserts that had a simpler 'chocolate edge' rather than being drenched in dripping fudge - but I suppose that would defeat the purpose.
Mandy
The chocolate heaven of Parnell

I've been to chocolate boutique many times and I feel that it's my favourite chocolate place in Auckland. We came here at around 3pm and were a bit worried it might be super busy. Luckily we were able to find a seat and decided to order the share indulgence to share between the two of us. We didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive and the service was really lovely. Everything on the plate was super sweet but luckily the cream helped to balance out the sweetness along with water. Most of the time I come here with friends so I always have the shared desserts and I find it is more than enough to share. Unfortunately I can't comment on the chocolates they sell as I've never tried them before.

Picture:
- Share Indulgence ($13.95) = Chocolate ice cream with chocolate cream, chocolate mud cake with hot chocolate sauce, a chocolate fish and cream.

Overall, it's a lovely chocolate place and since they have expanded at the back, they are getting more and more popular. If you're not a chocolate lover, this might not be your cup of tea but personally, I really enjoy having desserts here.
Julia Nguyen
The favorite place of mine to go out with friends. This chocolate boutique is cute and the chocolate drinks are so good. It can be super busy sometimes so the best option is choosing to go in the afternoon. I also love their cakes - try the tiramisu one ❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌

I'm not known to have a sweet tooth but that Chocolate Steamed Pudding was to die for! Great service, the turn-around time for making the dessert was pretty remarkable! Great ambience and all-in-all just so dam good!
Maddie
A few weeks ago we visited Chocolate Boutique with some friends, the staff were friendly, and the prices were very reasonable, although we were a little disappointed that the chocolate cake was extremely dry and the icing was really thick, and the mousse was more of a chocolate yogurt consistancy, rather than mousse. Other than that the waffles were delicious but probably wouldn't go back.

Well known by Aucklanders and well visited by tourist The Chocolate Boutique Cafe has created quite a name for itself.

One evening last week looking for a coffee spot my sister and I walked down Parnell Road. Not hard to miss is The Chocolate Boutique Cafe.

It's a shop you wouldn't be surprised finding on Diagon Alley. Upon entering you find yourself surrounded chocolate treats of all sorts. From chocolate frogs and bunnies to chocolate roses and eggs most of the cafe seems edible.

Once your inner child calms from all the excitement you do start to feel the lack of atmosphere the space has. Compared the bustling road it's situated on, The Chocolate Boutique Cafe is generally pretty quite.

We weren't overly impressed with our coffees ether. Being overly milky we won't be back in a rush.

I have previously tried the Italian Denso - which is a glass cup of rich melted chocolate. Being a person who isn't fond of dark chocolate I found it a bit overwhelming, but I'm sure a chocoholic would be extremely pleased.

Overall, I think The Chocolate Boutique Cafe isn't quite what it use to be, and up against competitors like milse, it needs a bit of reviving.

Sarah Reynolds #challenge

Met up with a friend here, we grabbed some hot drinks to share and I also got a creme brûlée. My coffee was nice and creamy and the creme brûlée was very good, sweet and custardy in texture with a beautiful sugar top. A nice pick on the Parnell strip - will be back!

Great & tasty menu for all chocolate lovers! Hot chocolates and waffles are melt-in-your-mouth good. So I've definitely come in a few times for these. However one night I came into this cafe for fondue it was way too full ended up standing out in the cold waiting to be served and unfortunately had to get this takeaway as I was not the only one waiting for a seat. The fondue doesn't taste very good take away. I was slightly disappointed but the service is usually good and everything I've ordered prior has been great. Definitely worth a try if you haven't already!

Good place to go and have dessert if you're looking for somewhere late at night that isn't too formal. Always very busy though - so tables are sometimes hard to sort out, especially if you're in a group. There's nothing I've found that I would stand by every time, but the selection is great for accommodating groups.
Rebecca Stringfellow
Was very excited to go here, seen all the reviews and photos and looked delicious. After looking over the extensive menu that was on offer I decided on the creme brûlée and chocolate mousse. Was soo good and was so surprised by the cheap prices as well. Overall only paying around $12 for both. Definitely back again n if u have enough room I would get the salted caramel macaroon , best thing invented.

This is my favourite chocolate cafe in Auckland, when I am craving for a chocolate fix! When you step inside, you are literally in Chocolate Heaven indeed.

I am a fan of dark chocolate, so I would recommend the Dark Chocolate Submarino which comprises of real dark chocolate mixed together with delicious fresh milk. It's sinful but not too sweet at the same time.

Chocolate fans would also like the Chocolate Mud Cake, which is very rich and satisfying, coming with a scoop of whipped cream too.

The macarons are also nice - they have a nice chewy texture and the flavours are also unique and authentic. My favourites are the salted caramel and chocolate peppermint ones. #Challenge

I loved this cafe.... just my style.... its really an awesome place.. we had good service and the hot chocolate was amazing.... :) would definately go there again

I always highly recommend this chocolate haven to my family and friends. Well located in upmarket Parnell, this posh yet comforting cafe is perfect for the weekend wind-down. The chocolate bar is amazingly displayed, with children pushing their noses up the window right alongside the adults.

The submarino is my go-to drink, though the other coffees are also well brewed. The service is friendly, they are willing to push tables together for you if there is quite a few of you and if you are sitting at the back, they will come to you when you want to order, instead of you having to walk to the counter (which is more common in most cafes around central Auckland).

This place has a beautiful vibe, and the food/beverages are absolutely amazing. However, several times that I have been here I feel the people working were a little rude when we asked to split a payment.

If you're a fan of chocolate or desserts in general then this is a great place to try visit. It is a short distance away from the CBD and worth going the distance to try out. If you are getting the Death by Chocolate, it's a good idea to share it with someone as it is quite chocolatey and filling. Albeit the good food, their service was lacking. We had to serve ourselves apart from when we went up to the counter to order. All in all, Chocolate Boutique is a good place to relax with something sweet.
Kelly
Nice atmosphere but don't really get the hype. Death by chocolate was disappointing; no trace of finesse. Affogato was average, hot chocolate is just so dense that the texture is weird. I like that it's in Parnell and it's a cute cafe with friendly staff, but I've been here many times and never really felt like it's anything special. Creme brulee is alright but again, just an average dessert.

Love chocolate boutique! A fav among my friend group. We love the butterscotch hot chocolate- could be hotter though as it's usually luke warm. We love the vibe here. Always busy and hard to get a table! A very popular place. My favourite is the chocolate waffle- so rays and reasonably priced! Despite being super busy all the time we never have to wait long after we've ordered. Love!
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4.5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Overall 10/10

A lovely place to have a cup of hot drink and catch up with friends. It is very cozy and the walls are filled with all sorts of candy and chocolate. Definitely the place to be in Parnell.

First time eating here, we arrived and weren't welcomed as we entered. Me and my foodie buddy decided to have a sharing plate or the chocolate cake and icecream. I really liked the variety of choices for drinks but in the ended I ordered the chocolate de menthe which was peppermint hot chocolate one and My friend had the Italian denso. When the food arrived after 5 mins the lady had negative tone and was incapable of smiling so service is 2/10. I really liked my drink, but my friends drink was literally like thick liquid chocolate cake and was far to rich to get through half of it. I liked how the sharing plate was bitsy and lots to eat. But i recommend its shares between 3 people rather than to. The chocolate cake was rich and quite average to me, the icecream was alright, great portions. I would come back because of the good prices but it was an average experience.

Cute place with friendly staff (the two older ladies that were there at the counter I mean - the younger girls who work in the back could do with smiling at customers it would be nicer than the frosty looks they all seem to have!) and SO DAMN CHEAP! My friend and I may have had eyes bigger than our stomachs when we went last week... I hadn't been here in years but had good memories from past visits so we went for dessert. My friend had the death by chocolate which was delicious and an Italian denso (so rich this really should be ordered with nothing else!). He had to take it away! I ordered a chocolate pot which is definitely better for two people - you get so much! So delicious, but after an incredible sticky date pudding I thought I would go into a coma if I had any more! All in all would definitely go back but next time may not be as eager to consume as much as possible. All the drinks and desserts are rich and full of flavour :)
Kristi Tansilia
I've been coming here for several times and tried some from their menu. the cakes and the drinks were amazing and they weren't that expensive. Their Italian Denso just perfect for these cold winter days!

Chocolate break~ took my family for a sweet treat at chocolate Boutique couldn't decide what to order so we ended up ordered one of each different thing to try and we just love them all.. Can't pick which one is better.. They are all very nice.. So next time visiting we will
have to go thru a hard time deciding what to order again 😝
We had a great time here, but it would be even better if we can order the food at our table. We almost have to stand eating cuz couldn't find any seat after made the orders (first) at the counter.. 😬lucky 1 table was leaving 😅 Also when we tried to make an order we took a bit of time deciding, and there were ppl waiting behind us.. what a pressure moment 😰 had to decide and order quickly...
The good thing is whatever we ordered, they are very nice hehe 😄 👍👏
Cute little place, there's so much you can try. We got 2 plates to share between 5 people and we're all pretty satisfied. Wish I took some chocolate back home.

I also came here with both my daughters and found the service to be cold and unwelcoming. Apart from our orders being taken and being served our desserts we were totally ignored and had to ask for serviettes. Atmosphere is also cold and somber unfortunately this is not a place I will be visiting again and am especially annoyed that my children had to experience that type of service in what look like a very inviting pleasant place to have a lovely dessert. Service is everything where your customers are your biggest critics maybe something the business owner needs to look at urgently judging also by other comments. Service with a smile goes a long way its an easy one!
Royneel K
I have been to Chocolate Boutique many times. It's a great place to hang out with some of the best desserts in Auckland. I would highly recommend the passionfruit waffles and the Chocolate hazelnut mocha is amazing
Mat
Whenever I am in the mood for a good chocolate raspberry tart - this is the place I visit! It's probably my favourite thing on the menu. The environment of this place is usually crowded after 7pm and it's quite hard to find a free table. I think the only downfall of this place is the service. The girls can be rather uhh blunt... The coffee isn't great either ... But that chocolate raspberry tart makes up for it ;)
Jazzy Jazz
When there a few weeks ago, has a good atmosphere in the place a good spot to sit around the table and socialise with friends while indulging you sweet toothed desires! They seem to have most tastes covered from sweet to tart. Def will be revisiting!
Brenda Phu
I came here about week ago with a friend after an evening exam.
The place was surprising quiet but the staff were mucking about, with 5 idle girls. The service was blunt and quite rude.
We ordered the Italian denso which was deliciously rich; and not too sweet, with a thick consistency.
However, the passionfruit creme brûlée was overcooked, it tasted like plain yoghurt with the texture of tofu. It was a off and rip off for $7, for the portion and the flavour.
I guess that's why they're called the chocolate boutique, for the chocolate only. 👎🏻
What I Ate Today
I've been to this place quite a few times but this was the first since writing reviews. We first went to this little cafe after it was recommended to us from friends and have been back so many times! There aren't that many dessert restaurants in Auckland as good as this for the same price.

We always order the banoffee parfait and it never disappoints! It's a mix of cream, ice cream, banana and a lot of caramel sauce! Yummy! We have struggled with a second dish that is as yummy from these guys. We always get two and share. This trip we ordered the mud cake which was probably the best second dish we have tried so far. However I asked for it warned up and it was still pretty cold. We also got a normal hot chocolate and a caramel hot chocolate. Both were nice but I loved the extra sweetness from the caramel one!

Will always keep going back to this place but need to find a second dish that matches the banoffee parfait!!
Gentlepig
Presentation makes the dish - you'd be very impressed with the effort the chefs go to in order to make your dish picture worthy. Oh and don't worry - the flavours are perfectly weighted too; nothing is overpowering, nothing is 'watered down'. It loses a few points however on service. Sometimes borderline rude, I've been treated to several sarcastic remarks from their staff. Overall though, if you can block that from your experience, a good special date night destination.
Table For One
Smore sundae and black forest hot chocolate!!!
This place has a vast range of cakes, desserts and drinks on the menu.
It's a great place to treat yourself on a cold and rainy day.

Fantastic place for dessert. The collection is large and interesting. Chocolate truffles are superb. The place is cozy and feels good. Will keep visiting.
Queena
This place seems to always be busy and packed full of people. Service is average. Probably all too busy to greet customers.

Thought the chocolate fondue would be an excellent dessert to share between two. But when it arrived it was quite small -very nice presentation though. But like dried fruits? Wasn't what we were expecting. I personally didn't think pretzels and chocolate worked together but my partner didn't mind.

And the fondue itself. Wasn't even hot. Was warm and by the time we were like half way, the chocolate was pretty much cold or barely warm. Thought there would be a little candle or fire at the bottom of it like some places do. But nope. Probably wouldn't order this again.

On the bright side, their macarons are to die for! The best I've had so far. Would come back just for the macarons.
Denise D'Sa
Chocolate boutique is heaven for anyone with a love of chocolate (so everyone).

The Italian denso is rich and creamy and the waffles are delicious. I would recommend sharing, the portion sizes are quite large. I found the prices really good, especially for the quality!

One of my favourite dessert places in Auckland.
Nikita Kumar
Very good prices, great location. Food is exceptional and really large for the price. Usually too big for one person to finish on their own, highly recommended
कुमार नोलीन
Love this place, prices are reasonable and affordable
Great for a fun date night and chocolate lovers
Fast and friendly service.. Though this place gets very busy, sometimes hard to find tables
Abdul Wahid Awan
Love this place. The new seating and layout is very nice. Only critical thing i can say is It's about time they increased their prices and used quality melted chocolate on their waffles. Overall very pleased 8/10.
Melissa Chai
Been here several times! Things are often sold out because I imagine they are very good! I really enjoy the cakes and drinks here when I want a sweet treat! I usually go on a birthday occasion for dessert when in Parnell!
Gianina Castro
The hot chocolate drink I had was to die for!! Would definitely come back.

The chocolate cake was yummy too, but I didn't enjoy it as much, a sweet drink and a sweet cake didn't quite go well together. So pick one and come back and try the other. Can't get too excited and order all things sweet or you won't enjoy it.
Alhassan4111
It is a nice cafe , the best chocolate waffles in Auckland it's amazing in everything, but the cashier wasn't friendly with me . The smile is free!!
Aniva Huang
I always love coming here for desserts after dinner!
I just wish that there was better seating arrangements!!
I love the variety of kitchen prepared desserts and jars of lollies in the store!
Tarcísio Pinhate
I was positively surprised with the variety of options available, it was hard to pick a dessert. I ended up having the 'Death by Chocolate' and it was great! Prices are reasonable. I'll definitely come back.
Labroye Tauevihi
Came here after dinner one cold night and it was full... Was ok though cause we went out back an surprise it was free so we sat there... Ordered the banana berry waffle and omg that was amazing... The peanut butter mocha however wasn't as good as it sounded... Cool little place though... Maybe they should invest in some outdoor heaters for winter... Chur...

Not a big chocolate fan so I cannot comment on them but I have to say this place has the best macarons in town - I always get them for my girl for special occasions because she loves them. Light crispy biscuits, not too sweet, with creamy filling. Will not disappointment.

If anyone knows anywhere better, do message me so I can scout it out! But until then, this place will do.

Priced at $2.50 each.

Quatre Yums.
HJ
Great little place this is! Perfect first date spot. Really reasonably and will satisfy sweet tooths. Dessert options, hot beverages, chocolate, lollies and gifts. Services is good - usual cafe service. Waffles and ice cream are always good. Lots of varieties for hot drinks. One of my fav easy dessert places.
Peifen Chua
My favourite dessert place to go to. It's best going in small groups of up to 4 as the place has limited seating and it's always very busy. People have to place their orders up front at the counter and they normally do so before finding seats. And the line was super long when we got there on a Saturday night. We ordered a caramel chcolate brownie, a Black Forest hot chocolate and a peanut butter hot chocolate. I was a bit scared that the peanut butter might be too rich but it was actually just nice, not too thick, not too sweet and not too rich either. The Black Forest had full flavours as well but was leaning a bit towards the sweeter end of the scale. Nonetheless it was still good. It would be nice if they stay open after 10pm on a weekend.

This dessert place is probably the cosiest dessert location in all of Auckland. Located in Parnell, there is a bit of a serenity once you get off the main streets and into what is a chocolate utopia.

The decor is really stunning with a lot of items on display all over the place. Its obvious that this place is someones pride and joy.

I ordered the chocolate waffle with others ordering chocolate drinks and another ordering the chocolate mousse. The waffle has always been my favorite thing off their menu. The texture of waffle is just right and the ice cream and whipped cream put you into a chocolate coma.

However the chocolate drinks can be a bit hit or miss as well as the cakes so order wisely.

The reason I give it a 4 and not a 5 is because a lot of the times it is hard to get a table, especially at peak times. Additionally, having ordered a lot of things on their menu, some things can be very hit and miss.
Hannah
Have been here a few times and as a self-confessed chocoholic I have loved it each time :) Went recently on a Friday night and was quite busy (as per usual) but managed to get a table straight away. Staff were really friendly and I love the decor and selection of chocolate treats they have available. We ordered the Share Indulgence (choc ice cream with syrup topped with chocolate mousse, a slice of mudcake, whipped cream and chocolate sauce to drizzle) which of course was delicious - the cake was nice and moist with a very tasty ganache icing, the Chocolate and Raspberry Tart - also very good - rich chocolate taste with a nice tang of raspberry, a Chocolate Denso (very thick hot chocolate, a bit like pudding) which was very rich but sooo good, and an Iced Chocolate (had syrup, milk, ice cream and whipped cream) which was also rather good. The perfect place to go if you love chocolate as much as I do :)

A great cafe which create a warm and romantic place for couple and friends. Was suprise how busy they were and each time we go, there are lots of people wating. Caramel waffle was amazing and being my favor each time.
Rojas
Their coconut latte is to die for! A great place to come for dessert with friends. Their kahlua cheesecake is great but extremely rich so can be sickening if you've eaten something prior. The service is fantastic and food served to your table relatively quickly considering how busy they are.
S B
A great dessert cafe, which I recommend! We ordered large coffees plus a cream brulee and lemon meringue tart. These came with all the trimmings, including whipped cream, a large piece of decorative chocolate and passionfruit and strawberry sauces. The coffees came with chocolate coffee beans.
The cafe is also set up like an old fashioned sweet store, with all the sweets you can think of, along with chocolates etc.
We sat out on the back deck beside the trees and water features. A very relaxed setting for a hot summers day.
Picky Diner
Not a cafe with a smile. Average service but nice food, location and decor. Even the order for takeaway cup cakes took around 15 mins though the cafe was almost empty

Went here a few nights ago .. Was super busy when we arrived so had to wait 10 minutes for a table which was fine .. The menu is very extensive and everything sounded so good I wanted to try it all ! .. I decided on the Caramel waffle which was amazing .. The food was great and the staff were very friendly and the food took very quick to get to us .. Highly recommend

from past experiences at the Chocolate Boutique has been good, the coffees are lovely, and macroons are really nice, it's like walking into an old candy store you only see on movies and the selection is wide, and you can find things in there you haven't seen since you were a kid. I understand the suburb it is situated in is up-market but the prices are a little high in my opinion, and seating is not comfy at all in the front of shop, it is much nicer at the back although it is still very squished. it's only good for groups 6 and under any more is too uncomfortable.

Located on Parnell's busiest street, tucked between other cafes and restaurants, the Chocolate Boutique is a cosy place to make the most of a cheat day by indulging in the sweet treats on offer.

Used to come here quite often and the Italian Denso is always my favourite drink on the menu. They always make it perfectly. I went here again last night, and nothing has changed - still the same hot, thick, rich chocolatey drink topped with melting cream. Yum!

Not a big fan of the fruit smoothies, love the macadamia thickshake. The chocolate mud cake is pretty decent. The chocolate pudding is amazing!! The chocolate and raspberry pie could do with a softer base. The submarino tastes like a very toned down milkyway chocolate drink. And the chocolate fondue needs more items to dip!

Overall, love the place, especially since I can always find seating now!
Andrea
Visited this place a couple of times with friends.

Food: Very reasonably priced, and generously portioned. However, I found the Bailey's cheesecake a bit too sweet for my liking.

Service: Pleasant, and very friendly waitstaff.

Ambience: I LOVE the courtyard! It has an amazing view of the city skyline. Try to find a space quick though, the courtyard has very limited seating.

Overall: I really enjoyed the food and drinks, and will be back. Hopefully they cut down on the sugar. (Bonus - they close at 9.50pm, later than most cafes which makes them a perfect spot for an after dinner treat.)

Be prepared for Willy Wonka-like inspiration .that place is located in the sweetest district of Auckland (surprise-surprise) and has a good vibe .while this review looks like I receive some commission from chocolate boutique for being all lovey-dovey about the place -I want to point out that sometimes service is nowhere near excellency of the coffee drinks and sweet treats they provide(hence 4 stars out of five).yes,I'm talking about grumpy old lady (owner??manager???Grinch stealing my Christmas ???)-you are not making me a favour by printing the bill!)other than that-sweet as!
Madicattt
I've heard a lot about chocolate boutique but was not at all prepared for how extensively chocolatey and amazing the drinks list was!

I had a macadamia mocha and ginger cupcake. The macadamia mocha was insane, super sweet, and incredibly delicious, but not high on the coffee content. The ginger cupcake, that was the highlight. Moist, zesty. It was a dream.

Located on Parnell rise and sitting next to Amber Whitecliffes boutique, Chocolate Boutique is a cute and tasty little spot for some mid afternoon indulgence.

It has been few years since I discovered this romantic place. Their little dishes are pretty and sweet. I love the hazelnut chocolate drink, and would like to sitting at the conner because can view the people pass by, feeling relext.

I have been to this place for many years...since I was single...dated and single again...haha!A great place to bring your first date or hang out with a small group of friends.Ever since they have extended the back of the café...there is more option to seat either indoor or outdoor.I love the Hazelnut and Praline White Chocolate drink. Anything and everything in the menu worth trying. The price is reasonable and what more can I say...if you have a sweet tooth...then this is the right place for you!
Anna Liew
Came in with the husband after dinner.. Husband had a cappucino $3.50 decent size, hot and strong served with two chocolate covered coffee beans.I ordered the hazelnut milkshake also $3.50 it was awesome served in an old fashioned milk bottle, made with icecream and milk served with a chocolate fish, very generoys size also.We were too ull to eat dessert but all prices looked very reasonable.. thumbs up to you
Mana Katsukawa Otimi
Everything you want and more , I must say that it might be best to just order one thing instead of two because what ever you get is more than enough . Love it will be back for more ????????????

Love the Chocolate Boutique! Have been coming here for years. They have recently redone the place (which was much needed) so it now caters for a larger crowd. As a Coeliac their extensive gluten free menu is refreshing. They offer gluten free waffles which are hard to come by in auckland and they are delish. I love the large selection of Lollies and vast variety of chocolates. My personal fav is the macadamia nut brittle. The macarons do however let them down. With a inauthentic filling of some sort of cream rather than chocolate ganache they are undesirable.
Hannah Short
This is a little slice of heaven. Devine chocolate sundaes and waffles. All are reasonable price and big enough to share with others. The only thing is there are not many seats so you need to go early.
Daniel Taylor
My experience of the Chocolate Boutique Cafe was unfortunately sub-par. After receiving a table inside after much to-ing and fro-ing with the staff I ordered the hot chocolate and smore sundae (advertised special at the time). The hot chocolate, thinking it would be a specialty left me a little underwhelmed, and the smore sundae burnt marshmallow was great, the rest was very sickeningly sweet (like a store-bought chocolate sauce with added sugar) that one mouthful was all I could handle...unfortunately not the best first impression.
Cmys001
The deserts were yum but the service was bad. The one girl at the counter was not helpful at all and was very uninterested in taking my order. Also I ordered something and it took them 20 minutes to tell me it was not available and took a further 10 minutes to give me something else extremely bad service especially when the deserts are all made you just need to heat it up or put it on a plate
Sabrina
i love the hot chocolate so much, especially when i drink it in the winter time or cold day, it makes me feel more warm after drinking such tasty hot chocolate.
Riddhi
After waiting so long to go to this cafe, a few friends and I finally went. The weather was disgusting unfortuntely and finding a place inside the small cafe was a bit of a nightmare but we did find some space outside.

I ordered the passionfruit waffle and peach iced tea, and my friends ordered the coffee waffle and the chocolate waffle. All three waffles were delicious and the wait time wasn't very long which was even better! My waffle was definitely the winner though, only down side is the ice cream which still had ice pieces in it. The prices for the deserts were also very reasonable, everything under $15.

Overall a definite winner for a cute date night, dessert after dinner or just a casual visit. Will be back.

One of Aucklands best chocolate boutiques, stumbled across this place
after a rough day six years ago and i cannot say enough about how well they make
their chocolates my favourite hazelnut cone and their supreme range of
hot chocolates they make on site.
Shharukh Issani (Sharkx)
Chocolate lovers , this be your heaven yes the tittle says it. Really great service and delicious menu including extra stuff you can choose to fill your plate . Have visited 5-6 times in past few months and every time I tasted something I said "wow"
Jemimah
A cute little place to go to for something sweet. Our regular here has become a hot chocolate submarino of some sort. On this occasion we decided to try the praline version which was beautiful, tasting of "forerro roche". A lovely place to take dates at any time as they open till late every night. Their chocolates are also very good and at wonderful prices with so many to choose from. From the seating out back or on the deck you can enjoy a lovely view of the skytower, beautiful at night. A place worth traveling for.

I was quite looking forward to going there and finally I made it. but the as soon as I entered I realized that the staffs there were very rude.
it was week day and wasn't very full but they just ignored me . when I was ordering the staff was not friendly at all. even she looked angry or something .

I liked the chocolates but don't wanna use the cafe anymore.
Rachel Candy Li
Yumyumyum. Always come for a hot chocolate. The best in town.
Nix
Had to find our own seats in a hectic crowded environment. Ordered after a group of foreigners who nearly got surcharged. Waited over an hour to find out our orders for 2 sharing chocolate platters never got sent. So we got a refund and vowed never to return. The WORST customer service and a whole lot of wasted gas.
Missk Khan
Love this place, huge favourite, espcially since they expanded the place and you can now find a table! Love the denso, chocolate pudding, waffles with ice cream, the list goes on and it's always good. They're quick and service is lovely. Not a huge fan of their packaged chocolate they serve but their menu items are fantastic.
We uses to go twice a week as it was too tempting being so close. Now it's an occasional treat, and hits the spot every time!
Mimi Yang
The concept of this place and the food is amazing! It's really nice that an extension is built in the back to accommodate more people and bigger groups. Being such a great place, it's a huge let down when the service is rude and dismissive. I have been here at least 5 times before and each time the service has always been sub par. I understand that its busy so tables can't be cleared right away, but on my latest visit, I thought I'd be helpful and bring someone else's dirty dishes to the kitchen only to be rudely told to take them back to the table where staff will come and get it. Not sure I'd come back here again, whilst the food is great, it's just not enough to compensate for bad service.
Roshnee Patel
Food is always good. However, service needs to be a whole lot better. The staff snap at you for no apparent reason and feel as if they don't want to be there. I went and we had ordered food.. waitress brought it put noticed the dirty dishes from other patrons and still didn't clear it up. I queried about our order and she gave me a rude comment back. I didn't feel like I was a valuable customer at all just a number to add to the list.
The Guppy
Nice courtyard out the back. Wasn't particularly impressed with the overall vibe of this place - made me kinda claustrophobic and all the staff felt a bit jittery and stressy.

But... the four stars are all there to praise the feijoa smoothie ---- HOW DID THEY DO THAT????? I crave feijoas all year round, and these seriously tasted like they were straight off the tree. They must have a stash of frozen ones or something.

Hmmmmm - what I would give for one of those right now.
T Pritchard
I went here two days ago and can't wait to go back. I had the death by chocolate dessert which was delicious and very satisfying. I also bought some chocolates to take home and they were very nice. Great seating, and staff were very friendly.
Maria
An absolute gem. Discovered it several years ago now and not intending to stop visiting once in a while. Good service, amazing food, and wonderful drinks. Loving the fact that they extended the place and it's now way easier to find a siting there.
On the last visit me and partner ordered hazelnut mocha and coconut latte (both of the drinks were fantastic), chocolate pudding (rich and moist), chocolate raspberry tart (finger-licking), chocolate pot and a piece of tiramisu cake, which we did not like as much as other deserts we ordered as it did not really taste like a tiramisu at all, but it was still yummy and we ate it up.
My partner also got a couple of handmade chocolates from the counter which were oh soo good.
Overall, loving this place!

I absolutely adore this place, the hot chocolates are divine and they have the best range of luxury, individual chocolates that I've seen in New Zealand.

Staff are always friendly, and I'm really loving the new layout - it used to be difficult to find a seat at times, but the new extension and additional seating at the back is a very welcome addition.

I tried the new spicy maple hot chocolate today, it was really, really good. My daughter had the Italian Denso which was very rich but just what she was craving. She also had the Death by Chocolate dessert and I couldn't resist a mouthful, wow, delicious!! We skipped dinner tonight because we were both so satisfied!

I would totally recommend the Chocolate Boutique to true chocolate lovers and those with sweet tooths. We've been coming here for several years now and still love it.

Although the drinks we ordered were delightful, it was the attitude of who we presume was the owner, that made our chocolate boutique experience a disappointment. Perhaps if the whole staff looked a little more happy to be there and were slightly more welcoming to their customers, we would make a trip back. As an aside, the steamed puds resembled the microwaved goods that our old mate aunt betty sells in your local supermarket

Fab place! Thank you for the much needed tables! Ordered chocolate mudcake and made sure to request it be very warm - I think the winter chill might have taken away from that request... I won't fault the staff.

Note: Please put smaller tables for 2 inside because I came with a group of 4 and all the big tables inside were used by couples engaging in some very intense public displays of affection. Alas we sat outside on the deck at the back...rather cold, quested that the heater be turned on. Was given a cold (pun not intended) reply that heaters are not functioning...again won't fault the staff.

Apart from that, delicious meals and great value for money! Love you guys but need to sort your heating / table arrangement out!

The menu is great and i LOVE the italian chocolate however the service is consistently bad. The young girls that work there always seem to be doing their best but they have to contend with the elderly woman who must be the owner who barks at customers and despite it being super busy in the evenings, she insists on closing the kitchen when there are customers streaming in. Last night we witnessed her snapping at a table of 6 or 7 who were obviously trying to decide what to order and then she turned away at least 6 other people in the 5 minutes we were there.
She should think about hiring someone who can work late so she doesn't have to, she might make more money - particularly on weekends.
Nicole
We've been here a lot and we'll probably visit again, it seems to be our guilty pleasure when we are in town. There is no denying that they do chocolate well, however there always seems to be confusion when ordering and the layout just does not work. The chocolate shots seem to be our pick off the menu

Love this place!
My guily pleasure, this is where i would go if i wanted to treat myself to a nice hot submarino. Only downfall is limited tables...
Jane
I Had a Chocolate tart was yummy!

I could've enjoyed more if the place was bit spacious. i could hear each n everything out loud, right into my ears what the man was talking who was sitting right next to my table.

Would come back but won't mind having a seat.

3 tables inside and 5 outside. It is winter so I would of expected a gas heater outside for the customers - but no. If there had of been heaters outside we would of stayed around longer and spent more money. It had rained at some stage and I would of expected the staff to come and wipe the water from seats and tables - but no we had to ask for a towel and do it ourselves - so no customer service in this place. The furniture is old and the menu old and worn out - need new ones!!
First impressions mean alot.
Cons
The hot chocolate was very good and the merchandise great.
Chocolate Boutique you need to talk to your staff and retrain them re customer service.

I've always loved Chocolate Boutique, its so unique to
Auckland and to chocolate lovers!

The chocolate recipes on the menu are very delicious and wonderfully affordable making it very popular with the locals, hence the queue during every weekends at night.

Despite the place being small and cannot necessarily accommodate all their customers during semi-busy to very busy hours, it is understandable that the owner cannot do any cafe extensions due to the landlord and rental agreement.

However the furniture and fittings can be a bit on the rough side with duck tape taping down the ripped edges of seats and nurturing rust on the steel legs of their eating tables.

The display of stock by the kitchen is also displayed boldly for anyone to see when entering the cafe, also an unnecessary visual for the dining customers.

It is usually over staffed at times when its not of busy hours where often two of the waitresses chats at the kitchen free-handedly while one waitress runs around to serve the customers.

Overall, the food is great, price is great, location is excellent with beautiful interior and exterior villa design, however the "rustic furniture" can be a bit of a down-side to the cafe to experience as it is not the type of furniture to suit the lovely place.

The Chocolate Boutique is always full and it takes patience to get a table in this lovely tiny villa.

On my 3rd visit to Chocolate Boutique I finally managed to get a table inside after lingering around the counter reading the menu for 5 minutes. I decided to take the opportunity to order a dessert that I otherwise couldn't have without a table. I had a chocolate waffle that was very delightful and affordable. I wanted to try everything on the menu but that is simply impossible. I would definitely return to try their drinks.

you can get some amazing products at this shop. not the cheapest but the quality is right up there with anywhere I have seen. Nice place to go for desert and a hot chocolate.

I love this place!
An awesome place to come have a yummy dessert.
The best is their Sticky Date Pudding, Rasberry & Chocolate Tart and their Milk Submarino drinks(come with melted choc in hot milk).
I also love their waffles and Sundae's.
Excellent prices nothing over about $10.
The also have gourmet chocolates you can pick out and take home along with a few shleves of lollies in glass jars you can pick from too.
Loads of presents and tones of variety
Gets busy after 8pm so come early.
Highly recommended.

As the name suggests - chocolate. Awesome place for dessert now that they opened up the extra space at the back. It used to be so hard to get a table so the option was take away and find a place to eat it. Now you can sit and enjoy. I've been here so many times and every time I get chocolate overload. The prices are so worth it and the desserts are so delicious. If you don't like chocolate they also have normal coffee as well and they have diabetic options available as well. Extensive selection so everyone is bound to find something suitable to enjoy.

The chocolate drinks and chocolate waffles are amazing!!

Chocolate Boutique is chocolate heaven for chocoholics in Auckland come rain or shine. Their chocolate cakes and ice chocolate drink do tantalise the taste buds that you feel the chocolatey taste is so good you just want more. Totally recommend Chocolate Boutique to anyone looking for a chocolate fix

One of the cafe that I'll go to if I want to pamper myself. They have a huge selection of dessert. The location is cozy as well and I don't mind sitting outside in summer. I've tried the one in the photo and I melted right then and there. The prices range 5-10 NZD which is really affordable. The welcome is pretty warm and makes you feel that you are at home.

Since my indo friend is feeling a lilttle heart broken at this point of her life, she asked me to go out with her today and eat something, somewhere. I asked her what does she feel like having and she said she wants something sweet, so where else can we go then? Indeed a perfect place for a sweet tooth craving plus we had the nice sunny and cool weather while having a front outside seat at this place, it was just really relaxing.

Wide selections of delightful desserts and even drinks like coffee and milkshakes. Very affordable price with goodness of taste that will exceed your expectation. She had her favourite carrot cake and hot chocolate while as for me, I chose to try their chocolate mud cake which was so yummy in a sense that it's not so sweet that it blended with its chocolate drizzle and cream on the side. Coffee is just really my thing so I had iced coffee to pair with the cake. I tried some of their cute tiny chocolates as well.

I was pleased and will absolutely come back for more of their pastries. I would love it even more if they will be able to maximise their space to accommodate their customers coming in every few minutes.
Jess
Awwww I love this place! Its heaven for someone with a sweet tooth. Wish they were open later though and its always busy so wait times can be really annoying but well worth the wait ♡

Chocolate denso ( density redefined ;-) ) white hot chocolate, chocolate drink, you imagine it they have it. Chocoholics. . This is the heavens of ecstasy. I would love to go back here if ever I do and relive the memory of a cold winter evening with a handful of friends with chocolate in its varied forms solid, liquid, hot and cold, wrapped and moulded. . time is not enough here.

I'm one of those weird people who don't like chocolate - so why would I come here? Good question. I have the odd sweet tooth and can eat a whole block of Cadbury Black Forest Chocolate, make myself sick and swear off chocolate/sweets until my next craving. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean I won't eat it and there's always heaps of other options of sugar loaded foods to choose from.

I came here after dinner with my sister and friend for dessert because my sister LOVED the macaron and nut thing she had here before with her friend.

I ordered a lemon iced tea and something to eat (probably lemon related) and they didn't have it/ran out - so I stupidly chose the chocolate mousse. It is SICKENINGLY sweet, like.... ugh. I can taste the diabetes. If you have a massive sweet tooth, you'd probably love this to bits, but I didn't even get through 2 spoonfuls before giving up and attempting to offload it onto my sister and friend. Funnily enough, the white chocolate mousse wasn't too sweet - still very sweet, but not as OTT as the chocolate mousse.

My sister ordered the crème brûlée, macarons and an iced (passionfruit*) tea - I'd highly recommend the crème brûlée! It tasted amazing, not too sweet at all! People say the more the better right? Usually that's the case, but the excessive filling for these macarons don't actually taste very good (especially by itself) as it has a somewhat bitter taste to it.

I wouldn't recommend the ice teas either, it tastes like powder mix.... and the ratio of powder : water was way off.

*note: I came here 4 months ago

I don't know anyone who doesn't like Chocolate so I don't know anyone who wouldn't like this place. It is a chocolate lovers go-to. And When you look at the menu the Chocolate boutique offers you, you're overwhelmed by the choices and combinations of flavours. The menu covers a range of drinks, chocolates and desserts.
A word of warning of the very popular pick 'Al Dente' that is described as a very rich hot chocolate. More of a melted chocolate drink. A self-serve water station is situated in the centre of the cafe. Well needed as the cafe ensures no one experiences a chocolate overload.
Inside is an intimate cafe, perfect to enjoy a delightful dessert. Outdoor seating is also offered as this cafe can tend to get very busy.
A cafe you need to try out yourself! :)

If you're super into chocolate, this is the place to be!

I'm not really into chocolate, to be honest, lol. I came because it was a birthday! When you walk in, it's like you've walked into Honeyduke's or something? Badass displays of chocolate surround you on all sides, pressing in, threatening to coat you in syrup...

The menu is quite lovely, and the extensive range of chocolate themed beverages is beyond the limits of my imagination. I ordered a butterscotch submarino (the butterscotch sort of...melts inside the beverage as you stir and drink it? I don't know) and a caramel sundae. Because those are the best flavours of anything. The submarino was great, the sundae okay. Everyone seemed very pleased indeed with their choices.

Downsides: because of the dearth of staff, orders come very slowly; to get the bathroom you go outside, down some stairs, around the side of the building, into a tiny, gross, creepy, cellar bathroom; the seating situation is THE WORST. Don't bring a group tbh.

To see more pictures and details of the day, view the post on my blog:
http://minaross.wordpress.com/2013/09/28/birthday-parties-at-the-chocolate-boutique-wagamama/

Spent far too much money than I should have here. Never regretted it once. Love the location and variety of chocolate goodness on offer. Love to recently added deck out back.

Wanting to have a luxurious dose of chocolate, look no further and make your way to Parnell's Chocolate Boutique! I love coming here because not only do they serve tasty beverages, they sell a large range of candies, chocolates as well as classic desserts and gluten free waffles! Before the introduction of other accessible chocolate shops, my friends and I would frequently come here to get our chocolate fix and I always leave with a bag/box of gourmet chocolate and truffles! However, the limited parking in Parnell and with more accessible chocolate stores around, I no longer visit as much as I use to.

For more reviews, please check out my blog - http://mydiningjourney.wordpress.com

One of my favorite dessert stops! Choc Boutique has been part of the Auckland 'night scene' for a long time (even Bill Clinton visited at some point in time).
Their menu has evolved over the years; chocolate-based dishes, drinks, and sweets have always been their speciality, but they have now added various other delicacies like flavored shakes (mango, strawberry...), fruit parfaits, and traditional desserts (creme brule, panna cotta etc). Also, CB have recently acquired some extra space, so their seating capacity has increased from a mere 5 to 10 seats to about 30 or 40. The area towards the back of the cafe has a nice, cosy ambience - wooden decor with dim lighting, trees covered in fairy lights, and an outdoor patio.

I always go to Chocolate Boutique for their Densos, which can be simply described as melted chocolate in a cup, and the Mexican Denso (with a hint of cinnamon) or the Chilli Denso (chocolate and chilli) are my favorites. Also, if you are a chocolate fan, then Death by Chocolate (six or seven layers of chocolatey-goodness) is worth trying.

The place is open till 10pm, although anytime of the day is a good time for chocolate!

Chocolate boutique is an unmissable for chocoholics passing through Auckland. Be it little bite sized chocolates to buy as gifts, a hot chocolate to savour on a chilly evening, or just a mouthwatering slice of chocolate cheesecake to dig into after a tough week at the office, this place will satisfy that sweet tooth.

As expected of a café in Parnell, the premises are pristine and the staff is very polite and professional. If you're sitting in, I would suggest getting a table on the deck at the back - you get an amazing view of the city skyline from there.

I really enjoy the variety of artisan chocolates they have on sale here, and I keep going back for more.
