Review Fortuna Buffet Restaurant - Auckland Central

Rasika Gunawardana
I was to rate this buffet 5 stars due to the variety of food and value for money, however the taste of food was not great (I know it is a personal preference). They charged $77 for two adults and when you pay $5.50, you'll get unlimited drinks and I think it's a really good price. Their service was excellent and the staff was amazing. You get concession parking when you spend >$40. I would definitely go back there.

This is a perfect place to come with family or friends, the atmosphere is very pleasant and the attention at the tables is one of the best I have seen, they are always attentive when you need them and they are extremely careful in every detail

The best buffet in Aotearoa best value of money in fantastic quality and amazing ambiance. The new Fortuna has amazing selection Im not a fan of buffet as I feel I don't get thevalue of my money not until I came back to Fortuna after almost a year. Awesome selection from seafood hot and cold, melt in your freakinouth meats, fresh salad bar, DIY nachos, chicken wings, cheese selection what a delight. Love how spacious the area is it doesn't feel cluttered. Service was fantastic too. Highly recommended. Coming back for more!

Always worth every bite!!! Back to this amazing and lovely restaurant serving buffet dinner after 4 years. Offering variety of food, best desserts and drinks. Signs are visible, clean toilets and surrounding. Well mannered staff and efficient booking system. If you have not been to this place, please pay a visit, worth it 👍 Back again for my son’s birthday.

Great selection of food to choose from, popular dishes go fast, hot food can be a bit dry from the heat sitting there, but sushi and cold items are lovely to easy to over indulge...staff are amazing people.

Came here Saturday night 1/4/2023 for a family birthday dinner, quality of food service was great and the different dessert range was fantastic aswell as the hot dishes around the buffet ,Definitely worth it!

Went to celebrate my sister n laws birthday here this week! The atmosphere was great 👍 Food was amazing 👏 loved the nachos, butter chicken and the dessert was so good! The caramel slice, toffee custard on pudding was the best!

For a tourist attraction location buffet, the prices are actually quite good! Also, usually buffets kind of have mediocre food, and the drawcard is that you can eat as much as you want of it, but we genuinely enjoyed many of the things on the line-up - especially the butter chicken!! For desserts, the caramel slice and the triffle were my favorites.

We had our 6 months in marriage lunch out in city. Food is so yum and really good. Not too cheap but not too expensive. Price just right and worth it. Dinner has more food options. But haven’t tried it and would like to come on dinner.

Value for money, plenty of choices. $5.50 unlimited soft drink is a great deal. Super friendly and helpful staff. My only issue was the food was not tasty. Desserts were amazing.
Shailendra Kewal
Thank you for making it extra special with birthday card, cake and candle, much appreciated.Suggestion to include soft drinks in the price🙏

Back to Fortuna after a small break. I was very very surprised! It does cost a bit more than previously ($65 per adult) but the food was way way better! Previously they tend to serve the same food on both sides but tonight they have different dishes on each side even the salad bars. They have cleared some tables in the middle to make way for more food choices as well. Previously I swore I wouldn't return but after seeing what I saw tonight I do think it is worth it and will return again.

I have always enjoyed Fortuna Buffet. The only drawback here is that it's always fully booked at all times. You need to make your reservations atleast 10 days prior to be very precise. They have got varieties and the food is fresh. They might just need to focus on refilling when they know it's the particular item that is being devoured. Certainly recommended. A few pictures are posted below.

Nice variety meals options from entrees, mains, desserts and also hot drinks such as coffee and hot chocolate. You're welcome to pay extra for soft drinks. You must reserve the seats and commonly people come with the group seating. Nice atmosphere for special occasions such as Birthdays. Great customer service experience 👍👌👍

Wide varieties of selection. High quality and fresh. Best lamb shank I've ever had, far more superior than the restaurant at the MET in NYC.

I took my family (5) to visit Auckland in Jan 2020. We thought the buffet price would be over $60 since the Skycity hotel is pricey when we stayed here. Unexpectedly, the lunch buffet is only $25/p and $12/child, which is much less than the average 5-stars buffet in Australia. The hot meal and cold dishes are great, most interesting, the desserts and fresh milk are one of the best, they all taste much better than other buffet. Highly recommend!

I’ve only been here a couple of times and this review is based mostly on our most recent visit for my Husband’s birthday. It is best to book in advance because they get very busy and remember that there is a time limit for the buffet. Make sure you clarify with your servers what time you begin, and what time you end to avoid any confusion.<br/><br/>Ambiance 3.5/5 – The ambiance is quite average. There was ample seating though and the restaurant was well lit. For some reason I remember it being much bigger than it is now haha. We didn’t find it hard to navigate through the buffet and we appreciate our location in the dining room as we were very close to the food. For a buffet place, it was well presented but I thought the dĂ©cor could be better.<br/><br/>Food 3.5/5 – We came here with a big appetite because it was a buffet. I really enjoyed the hot drinks on offer. The hot chocolate was suuuuper good that I had it a second time and it was actually the last taste I wanted, so I had it before we left. I didn’t enjoy the salads much that night as the dressings were not as pleasing to me personally. I was so excited about the potato salad, but I felt the radish didn’t belong. I liked the prawns and mussels, but thought it could be fresher I suppose. We really enjoyed the champagne ham. The steak looked really nice, but was very tough to chew â˜č I really liked the garlic bread. There were a lot of hot food on offer, but not everything was enticing to me personally. I wished they served more “familiar” options. I have a similar sentiment with the desserts. Last time I went there were eclairs and a blueberry cheesecake. They had a lot of options still for dessert and everything looked lovely! But the flavours were just too different. In saying that, I did have the strawberry cheesecake (which looked like a mousse) and the fruits for dessert. Hubby really enjoyed the soft serve and toppings. I loved the cheese and crackers and the bread ranhge on offer. I also really loved and enjoyed the taco/burrito/nacho station. In the end, we were still very full and if you were creative, you could mix and match a lot of the food on display to make different things 😊<br/><br/>Staff and Service 5/5 – Everyone there was so lovely and kind. When hubby and I were inquiring about other drinks, the server who assisted us was knowledgeable enough to offer the unlimited soda option for my husband. Staff were always smiling and they were very attentive (Sometimes too attentive as one time they took my un-finished burrito that I was still eating, but that’s no biggie!).<br/><br/>Total: 4/5 - Overall experience was good and we think that we would like to give it another try. Looking forward to our next visit!

So I went with a big appetite and started off with salads. Loved them. Moved on to mussels oyesters shrimp all good. But then the hot food was not great. There was a chicken curry and lamb not very good. Champagne ham was good. But their desserts were very good. Good variety and appealing to everyone. Hot coffee tea also good. Overall a good place for someone who eats all sorts of meat. But my husband hardly has nothing other than chicken so no many options.

Lunch here is very disappointing especially for the money you spend. Food is varied but repeated. some dry food. Not very appetising. Dessert was okay though. I forget why we go there. Remember not to have lunch there again!!!!
Alice In New Zealand
I had lunch here and the Desserts was the best. Pork belly also good.
LilianMonaghan
The taste and the quality of the food here were pretty average. Service was friendly and welcoming tho but won’t come back again.

Been here a few times and food has always been tasty with a plentiful variety. Unfortunately did not enjoy the experience this day. Food quality has definitely dropped. Food was bland. Meat section tasted the same. Salad and seafood was horrid. I give the food 1/5 but service 3/5. Will not be returning until new chefs are hired.
Elizabeth Edwards
More meats selection at lunch would be great. Also improvement on some of the deserts too, some of the slices were quite bland.

I remember coming here when we first came to Auckland and being amazed by the freshness and quality of the food , and variety of different foods and flavours. I remember amazing marinated mussels and flavourful and succulent meat .<br/><br/>I can honestly say that the spread has not only got smaller but the quality of the food is super underwhelming. I had a lemon cake that didn't even taste like lemon đŸ˜‚đŸ€Ł dry asf meat 😅😂 and cakes and desserts that weren't even sweet .<br/><br/>Honestly won't be coming back for awhile unless things change again 😎

I had not been here in years after going here quite a bit in my uni days. The price was really decent for lunch, but I was rather disappointed with the food. I wondered whether to rate this 2 or 3 and went with a 3 because of their desserts. Most of the food was bland and felt cheap, and just felt something was missing. The best thing was their ham but only if you got it straight from the carving. The pizza, chick schnitzel, pasta all felt like cheap microwaved frozen food. Their fresh salads sounded impressive trying to follow the latest health trends and all, but just didnt quite work. I wondered if they should have just kept it simple. Their desserts were the saving factor but most of their fresh fruit was canned, the soft serve ice cream tasted crap (and I wondered how you could get soft serve wrong - the colour n texture was all off), and looking closely into the dessert you could see they were largely reconfigurations of the same basic ingredients like cream and choc mousse but it was still good. Coffee machines were ok. Cheese selection was also ok. My toddler son was just happy with the fish and chips and my husband was not expecting much so just thought it was average and ok.

Fortuna is good value for money, make sure you book in your tables before heading there. Great range of food, nice and clean environment and staff is amazing! We come here regualry for family events. Never disappoints.
Amorita Maharaj
Celebrated a birthday there and was grateful for the small free birthday plate. Enjoyed the buffet dinner with my family which catered for all types of cuisines. Great range of seafood, European and Asian style meals. Drinks we paid extra and it was a help yourself to refill type of service. Adorable and reasonable priced for the meal. Good views and good service.
Hope đŸ„°
Pretty ok place. Time limit is a little annoying but desert it good. Sushi at dinner is good too but other food like chicken and soups/casseroles aren’t the best. Limited range actually

Thank You Fortuna, we had an amazing night, for Charlotte's birthday, thanks to your great food and outstanding customer service. Your staff are amazing. Thank You, we will be back
Luke Rooney
Fortuna is a good place if you just want a simple buffet with nothing special.. Some staff are attentive, Service is good.. Considering the price this is an all rounder buffet which suits anyone with a small budget.. I wouldnt recommend this place if you are planning on having a nice date or family dinner where you want to spoil the people for choice as there is very little over here, i would recommend you go to Eight Restaurant at Cordis which is a bit more expensive but you have more options..
Samodalteovir
I’ve here for 3 times already. This is the most affordable yet elegant place to dine-in in the city. But you need to book ahead atleast 3days since this place is always fully booked. One time i tried to walk-in but there was no vacant. They have huge variety of foods from Seafood, veggies, meat, soup, asian food, european food, etc. if you are planning to celebrate your birthdays or any important celebrations, try to book this place. The negative side for this buffet restau, is the parking. The parking is so expensive. Almost half of your total expenses goes to the parking fee.
Chrstn_nn
Had dinner with friends. My fav buffet place so far. Many option of foods, all arranged very nicely and looks appetizing. Clean environment, nice ambiance. Will come back, definitely.
Becky Kuang
My favorite lunch buffet place in Auckland. Come here a number of times. Each time felt satisfied with their food and services. Great value for money. Lots of deserts to choose from. If you have sweet tooth as me, you will enjoy their lunch. Drink price is very reasonable too.
Megan Durrant
Food was great, but the service of the bar staff let the team down a bit. They were a rude and it was totally unneeded. Also one of the staff dropped a tray of glasses which left the floor wet and dangerous, there was no sign to say wet and myself and one other person took a tumble. This is not on and i remain disappointed by the lack of action from the staff. However, will would go back again as the food was great and there was a lot of options even for a the fussy eaters in our group.
Vincent Fang
I thought I would’ve got amazing experience. Turned out, it’s the one of the worst buffet, staffs are not really helpful, foods are too standard, the only thing that I can handle was the dessert. That’s it!
Tusie Dangen
Found the buffet very average, very limited choices. Went in for a mothers day lunch and it was quite disappointing, some of the dishes were very bland, ice cream machine was broken down, the desserts were very average in taste as well. I will not be returning. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
Mehtabolism
Love love love the whole spread at Fortuna!<br/>The desserts were too nice! The sticky date cake and the poppy pavlova. ♄<br/>The meats were really lavish.<br/>Loved the schnitzel too.<br/>The whole spread was designed in a way that no one would go home unsatisfied.<br/>The menu typically screamed Kiwi and Aussie and taht was something I loved.<br/>Kids would love the dessert bar toppings too!<br/><br/>#MehtabolismRecommends 💯<br/>

Eh sometimes the food were good and sometimes they weren’t. overall their soups were shit but their fish nuggets were very delicious and yummy to eat with the chips
KM
Had a special occasion to celebrate at breakfast this morning with family. We weren’t guided to our seats so had to walk into the restaurant to find where our family and friends were. I was so disappointed and really let down that the food was horrible! I have been a few times before for breakfast and today was just horrendous. From burnt croissants, over cooked hash browns and then to what tasted like out of date eggs! Many let downs with the food and will not be returning any time soon. What a shame for what’s meant to be a great dining experience.

Even fortuna located at sky tower, but still don't have much choice of food. Price isn't expensive, so they quite busy everyday. dessert and lamb taste good, service nice and friendly.
Shar Ellis
$40 per head per adult.  Drinks are resonable considering you are in Auckland and in CBD ($8.5 for a Jim Bean and $8 for a Corona). Its a buffet so don't expect fine dining, it does have a fairly limited choice of options suprisingly.  Odd lay out for getting your food as there are 2 desert bars, and although they look identical - they are not. Friendly staff and it was clean.
Lydia Tatafu
Simply amazing!!my graduation dinner was definitely one to remember I’d graduate all over again just to go back there LOL
Grace
Would not recommend coming to this buffet. Pretty limited choices and food is not that tasty. Only a few meats salads and seafood. Nothing special, will not be returning.
Joy Eats
Very average buffet. The range of dinner dishes was small and not impressive. I mainly ate the sushi and chicken but could’ve cooked it myself at home or bought it elsewhere for cheaper. Some of the dessert was nice but overall it didn’t taste amazing. Wouldn’t recommend. Quite a basic buffet.
Roxathina Samupo
Pretty good buffet offering and a family friendly place. I really enjoy their soups, salads and hot food as well as the seafood selection. Their desserts are also really good. Worth the money and drive out to the city.
Hungry Man
Not impressed at all... it’s way below average for the price you pay. I wanted to take my wife someplace special for our 19th anniversary. I chose wrong. The waitresses weren’t accommodating as we have to chase our own glasses for the drinks. It’s over priced for what we experienced and ate. We will not be back. Very disappointing!!!
Cindy Chang
We have been to Fortuna for years, however the last two visits we had this year were very disappointed. The service was friendly and efficient, however the food quality and variety were getting quite poor.
Kelly Smith
Food taste is average but there is a decent selection. But The ice cream machine was not working as well as the unlimited refills for soda alway unless you wanted soda water or ginger ale. Was just an average experience
Richa Khattar Goyal
Nice place for a buffet dinner. Clean and hygiene friendly. Large variety of salads and breads to choose from. Loved the food.. taste is ok... the desert parlour was so good. A lot to choose from.. a few of them just needs some more flavor.. good place for the price!!
The Gastronomist
Lovely destination, restaurant is located inside the Skycity. It’s all you can eat. First impression- not enough selection. Food tastes ok, unlimited soft drinks for 5 bucks. The place is just ok. Dining experience is average.
Marcus Lau
Had the buffet dinner here with friends again last night.<br/><br/>Have been here quite a number of times, not really for the foods, but more for gathering or catch up with with family and friends. Besides, the price of the buffet is reasonable considering its strategic and prime location at the Skycity.<br/><br/>Quite a wide spectrum of foods and desserts. The foods were mostly average or below average. However, the desserts especially the cakes were quite good though.<br/><br/>The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. Pretty nice and neat environment.<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 4/10<br/>Service : 7/10<br/>Price : 7/10<br/>Ambience : 7/10<br/>
Sashil Kumar
Very friendly staff. The food range was amazing and definately worth it. The desert selection was good but if only vanilla ice cream was added it would go really well with the sweet cakes and pastries.
Maria
Absolutely love this place! Just finish coming back from having dinner at Fortuna & just had to write a review. Love the food & the atmosphere. Waitresses cleared tables really fast, always checked up on us. Recommend to all! Will be nice if there was more dinner options.

Fortuna is our go-to-place when we can’t think of any special resto to celebrate special occasions or when we have family and friends visiting us from overseas and we want to take them to somewhere impressive - and Fortuna never disappoints us. Both lunch and dinner buffet have a wide range of choices for entrees, mains, and dessert. <br/><br/>One thing that I am most impressed is the quality control and the menu is changing regularly; though that means that you’ll gonna miss out on your favourites next time around 😉. Staff are very polite and professional, and the place is spacious even during busy times. <br/><br/>You need to reserve a table beforehand and be advised that there is a time limit of an hour and a half for dining (which is quite long enough unless you spend more time flicking your phone). The price range is also very reasonable.<br/><br/>Fortuna is highly recommended!

Located in the skytower, you'd think the restaurant would be a little on the dearer side- affordable/ cheap ish prices; which probs explains why there are always large groups of people there. Good buffet range & service. I always enjoy their seafood range especially the oysters- fresh & large.
Akym
Came here for lunch buffet on a Saturday. The staff were nice and got us seated pretty quickly. They have a decent variety of food and quality is acceptable considering the cost. Disappointed with the desserts section though as there was not one dessert item that I really enjoyed. Biggest complaint would be that they try to accommodate too many people at once. Most of the time at the hot food section there is no order at all... people like to push in front of others which made the experience frustrating. Hopefully they will have more staff stationed by the foods so they can help serve customers in order.
Dani
I've been to Fortuna on many different occasions and i must say the buffet is fairly average. A variety of average food options that are still nice to eat but standard for a restaurant located in a much rather lavish hotel/building. Nonetheless, the food is still good for the price paid, especially the dessert range.
Grace Huang
I had never been here before so one of my friends decided to take me since it’s her favourite buffet in Auckland.<br/><br/>Service: 2/10<br/>It is super busy so you have to book 2 weeks before. The people at the front desk were questioning us and made us feel uncomfortable. The cashier when we made our payment wasn’t very welcoming and seemed unhappy. The cooks dump the food on the trays without care.<br/><br/>Food: 6/10<br/>There isn’t a large selection of hot foods and after eating my first plate there was nothing I really craved for. The nachos and curries were pretty good and the pasta was delicious and wasn’t over cooked. The desserts were beautifully made and tasted pretty good. The macarons weren’t that pretty but it was very sweet and tasty. There’s a wide selection of ice cream toppings but there wasn’t any freshly cut fruit so the meal felt very heavy. <br/><br/>Ambiance: 6/10<br/>The restaurant has a typical European style with big glass windows that would allow for a great view if there weren’t construction. The restaurant is quite loud when it’s busy because of all the different conversations happening at once and the sounds coming from the kitchen.

Lunch Buffet: <br/>Typical buffet with average varieties of food. Been here several times and the food they serve are always the same, I just wish that they will serve oysters for lunch. I love that they have many choices of salads but my favourite part is of course the dessert section.<br/><br/>Breakfast Buffet:<br/><br/>Tried breakfast buffet for a change. Honestly, I like it better than lunch. Maybe just because breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I enjoyed this meal and will definitely come back again.<br/>
Akesa Tangitau
Found hair in my dessert which was really quite disgusting. When I approached the staff they were very apologetic and gave me my dinner free which was my minimum expectation as I couldn’t eat after seeing the hair anyway. Food is bland and not what I expected from a restaurant associated with Sky City. I mistakenly expected a far better standard.
Sanchez Palalagi
In the last 2 months I’ve come here for breakfast , lunch and dinner all on separate occasions and am kind of disappointed ? I feel like their food quality isn’t as great as it used to be. Food choices were basic but a lot of it was either bland , tasted funny or dry (in terms of the meat , except for the ham). Breakfast was average but many dishes tasted bland like the French toast , scrambled eggs and waffles. The bacon is nice when hot but when it gets cold , dries out and becomes hard. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs benedict was watery as well. Lunch and dinner were pretty much the same except for a few different dishes like the oysters. The rest was the same as lunch and I found quite underwhelming. The roast potatoes were nice tho. I prbably wouldn’t come back anytime soon 😅
SunshinĂš Fataiki
Lovley layout, awesome customer service alright food but some of it was bland although some was good. Dessert is nice👌 enjoyed my time there.
Jmo
I went there for dinner. There isn’t much variety and the food is pretty standard/average (fish bites, pizza, sushi etc). The venue itself is nice and there’s always plenty of parking. Service was ok. I wouldn’t recommend booking right on opening because the doors don’t actually open until then. If other patrons arrived before you, you need to wait for them to get sorted at reception, meaning part of your allotted time has been used waiting.
Ray
I've been here for lunch and dinner on many occasions The food is all fresh and well presented. The selection is not huge but most people will find enough to enjoy. The desert bar is excellent. I would say it is value for money during the week. I don't think the extra charge on the weekend is justified.
Food_adikt
Fairly average buffet. Some good dishes such as the lamb shanks, prawns but the feature of the buffet is the definitely the dessert. Recommended for a mid week meal where you are not sure what you want. You get a bit of everything. Staff are attentive.
Mari Flores
Ive been to Fortuna countless of times for birthdays, lunches and dinner, the only disappointing thing is that the food are the same as what they served on lunch and dinner. They do have some dishes which are amazing and the staff can be so-so (can be attentive and you can get ignored). Overall after going there alot, its not exactly one of the best buffets in Auckland.
Julie Allison
A Buffet with few food to choose. Good view at sky tower but despite that, the food is not so good. Only prawn and mussel as seafood. Not recommend.
Angela
To be honest I was kind of dissapointed in their dinner buffet. There was a variety of food but it was mainly just your basic fries, pasta, fried noodle etc. so there wasn’t much excitement. Dessert was pretty good and the service was nice though :)
Nonie Matangi
DINNER MENU<br/>$32 later and still hungry !!<br/><br/>Food was Luke warm making it taste horrible<br/>Shanks were tough, spare ribs were much nicer but still cool to touch <br/>Korma was bland<br/>Rendang was watery<br/>Prawns were tasteless !!<br/>Dessert is for chocolate lovers<br/><br/>Only good thing was<br/>Chips<br/>Pasta <br/>Garlic Bread<br/>Carrot n coconut salad <br/><br/>And the free refills of orange juice <br/>But with NO ICE !!!<br/><br/>Will NEVER recommend this place to anyone
Janey 😋
I’ve been to Fortuna many times for different occassions. The staff are always friendly and polite. The food is good, the space is clean and the seating area is layed out well. It’s a nice place to go if you want a variety of food. They are a family friendly restaurant which is great if you have children.
Brooklyn
BREAKFAST BUFFET HERE IS THE BEST<br/>so many options! some food does dry out even if you are there early (bacon)<br/>Value for money, can’t beat it. Lovely to watch Auckland City wake up while you devour all sorts of fresh fruit, eggs, waffles and danishes. Yum. Even though I don’t work graveyard hours anymore I’ll wake up early to come back soon!
Hasith Kandaudahewa
Considerably cheaper buffet than other places. Vegetarian might have limited options. Nice and species. Staff is very friendly. We had a reunion function. So we made sounds I think which might disturb another guest. Happy to go often
Natasha DeWit
Always love this place especially because they have a range of everything ! Beats Valentines any day hands down when it comes to buffet ! Service is great and food is great !
Tiana
Love this place. Favourite buffet ever, selection of different types of food and it’s always high quality. Been here a couple of times and never let down.
Metropolisshortstayapartment
Good selection of food and value for money great the quality of the food was good but not great. I would done again as long as wasn’t looking for something truely delicious.
Rayfaye Solomon
Initially the food at Fortuna was bland and lack flavour then there are times when it was scrumptious.... Sometimes the curries can be hit or a miss... the fried rice lacked seasoning... but the fish, vegetarian pizza, salads and desserts were amazing!!! I guess 5 dollars is fair for bottomless drinks...
Amy
Went here for lunch, Has a good buffet especially if you just want different varieties of food that is good value for money. Will definitely be back here sometime soon.
Tapita
Best value for money, comfortable seating all the usual buffet food youd expect well cooked, lovely service, came for tea but also frequent breakfast, reminds me of how valentine use to be
Siddy
the place is brilliant to sit with family and friends and you can enjoy the views as you relax and chat. the food however is pretty average, but I guesa as a buffet that is to be expected. Most of the food is either deli or sea food styleand if you are not a fan of this kinda food then you are in for a disappointment 😑 . There is no gourmet dishes and the desserts are very low standard. Oh and if you wish to drink you pay extra<br/>The service is either too slow or not efficient as the things that are slightly tasty gets finished too quickly and top ups are not quick
Lily
Generally, it is an acceptable buffet. It had a bit of everything, but does not have much variety. My favourites were the seafood and the desserts. It is mostly great for large gatherings or great number of guests. But, not a good place to have a chat. There will be lots of noise and coming-&-going.
Tina Pio Luani-Rod Nansen
Haven't been here in a while, but my husband surprised me with my birthday dinner last night! I was very impressed! Food is hot, fresh, plentiful. Oysters were also big, fresh and delicious! As usual last night was busy, but lovely customer service from front counter, to our serving hosts, kept the flow and patrons happy. Thank you Fortuna, we will see you again in a few weeks!!
Brandon Li
Went there for lunch and it is $25 per head. Food is average to be honest. Nothing special. Dinner service is somehow $35 per head with the exact same thing! How can they justify charging more for the same food? Not enough choices for main courses. If you won the vouchers to eat for free then go, or else go else where as it is not worth it. Service is great though.
Josephine Numanga
Never been dissapointed, venue and location is a ten and the price you pay for your buffet meal is a ten can't go wrong here. Fresh and yummy food. Family friendly.
Sasha Williams
I’ll start with the good points. Definitely value for money. Good range of spread, although quality is inconsistent especially with the hot meat dishes where a little seasoning could go a long way! The desserts are the highlight, passion fruit cream topped mini pavlovas were to die for. Now for the bad. The service was shocking. It’s a busy Restaurant especially on a Saturday but the reception staff were inattentive. It was our first time visiting and no one explained the seating arrangements so we chose our own. Halfway through our meal we weren’t so much asked as told to move but no one offered to move our plates, drinks etc. What a shame.
Indypindy05
I've been here a few times and I've never been disappointed with the quality of food that is put out. For the price you pay for, I reckon it's worth it 😉😄
Contessa
Had lunch here with friends , food was ok however they need more of a meat selection as they only had ham on the bone & what tasted like roast chicken but was spicy chicken , staff were good more so in terms of clearing the table when we were done unfortunately I only took pics of the deserts bar desert was yummmo 😬
Carmon Lau
heaps of food and nice seating setting. busy as always over crowed, need to book in advance to avoid disappointment.  hey the price is cheap for Buffet in a hotel.
TheMʌverick
Meh....Like an upscaled Valentines. Nothing really stands out about the place other than great value for money. Pretty inconsistent with their range of delectables, it seems a few other reviewers have noted this also. If you’re looking for a reasonable meal, all you can eat in an adequate setting that won’t break the bank, this’ll do ya! But for a more wholesome buffet experience that flirts with the line between casual & fine dining, there’s really only one place I can think of ;)
Pinny Quinlan
Value for money!! Lots of choice!! <br/>Desserts are yum. Kids are relaxed. Great family atmosphere! Sometimes little overcrowded for my likening. But all in all if you go early enough you can avoid the masses đŸ€—
Naziminator
The food was fine. It's nothing to rave about but good for a small get together Events and all. Good value for money. <br/>Good variety, good selection of salads n desserts were awesome...<br/>Service was good, staff were attentive.<br/>Good to make reservation in advance as the place is quite popular from Thursday onwards right through the weekend. <br/>One bill per booking so make sure you do your contri beforehand or afterwards...<br/>Have fun, we had a good time during our friend's farewell dinner on Thursday <br/>
Talita Faletau
Food- 10/10<br/>what more can I say, I want to go again 😍 And thank you to the staff for making my birthday memorable. My family walked out with their belly full and all they can talk about is coming back for round 2-10. Most of all, your desserts are to die for 😍

Good environment but no waiting seats if you arrive early, nice salad selections, Nice sweets, BUT Mains are only: Indian beef, Indian Chicken Korma, Very Salty ham, Steam rice, fried rice, fried noodle, very disappointing. At least try not go there during Mon-Wed.

Always love coming here for a good feasting. Great variety for a good price, I mean hey it's a buffet. all you can eat. Breakfast is my fave although its been a while. Friendly service and the place just gives me good vibes. A+ mate

Personally Considering the price the food is ok. We booked for the last reservation time for dinner not knowing that because we were the last sitting times they did not restock the desserts once they had run out. :( This may have been my only biggest dissapointment . It also seems they have a lot of options of food to choose from when really it's the same stuff on both ends. I did not enjoy the salad bar and the food selection is ok. But from what was left i did enjoy the variety of desserts provided .

Tuesday night $32 (paid $5 extra for unlimited soft drinks) - there was NO oysters .. very disappointed 😭😭 <br/>There were mussels & shrimps for seafood section.<br/>Sushi rice a bit hard but it tasted ok .. there were 3 varieties - tuna, teriyaki chicken & vegetarian.<br/>Salad section is good .. I loved the imitation crab salad.<br/>Champagne ham & roasted chicken were good too.<br/>The Indian food and fish & chips were ok too.<br/>The best dessert was the custard ❀❀ <br/>Other desserts like cupcakes or jelly or ice cream were just ok.<br/>Overall, for $37 in total I might not come back again and I will rather go to Korean BBQ down the road 😉😉

At Fortuna, you'll get VARIETY and VALUE in one go.<br/>They get pretty pack especially Friday/Saturday evenings so make sure you pre-book at least a week in advance.<br/><br/>Great place to cater a big group...and there's sure something for everyone. From oysters to sushi, and roast to curry, and an awesome dessert bar...you'll be spoilt for choice.

Fortuna is a great restaurant to suit everyone's needs. Incredibly affordable and for all you can eat you can't possibly go wrong. A bottomless cup only costs $5 extra which is great because you can refill as many times as you want with the drink of your choice excluding alcohol of course. A huge selection of foods which is great.
Jim
The lunch buffet is quite good value for money.<br/>A variety of food to choose from, fresh and reasonably good quality. The desserts are ok, coffee is good. <br/>The environment is clean and family friendly.

Came here for a weeknight dinner on a whim as I had a discount voucher. Food was alright, it lacked an extensive variety but I did appreciate the fish and chips which was hot and crispy, which for a buffet is rare. My companion enjoyed the carved ham and meatballs in tomato sauce. Service was fine, the attendants were polite but they could have been a little more attentive by promptly removing plates from our table. I visited with minimal expectations hence I wasn't met with disappointment. The food you get is on par with what you pay, and if you're able to put away a lot of food, this place is pretty good value for dining out.

We went for breakfast buffet here this morning. Food was amazing. Huge variety of fresh fruit, cereal, different bread, different cold meats as well as hot sausages, baked beans, spaghetti, Hoki noodles, fried rice, hash browns, pancakes, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs any style, just to name a few. Orange juice and pineapple juice as well as coffee and tea is available and included in the price. The buffet restaurant is very clean and made us feeling comfortable. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The only reason why we don't rate 5 stars was the music. Not even sure if you can call that annoying noise music. Anyways that was really bad and on top of that much too loud. But apart from that the breakfast buffet at Fortuna was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. We will be back (with ear plugs ha ha ha)

For what you pay this place is great. It has something for everyone. Good selection of salads and hot meals and the dessert and drinks section is an added bonus . Definitely not fine dining but again for the price and what you get it's s bargain. $26 pp for lunch but if you have a entertainment coupon around $19<br/> <br/><br/>FYI.. Their meats are all halal but they can't guarantee on the preparation
Daniel
Went here for lunch. <br/><br/>No matter what time you go you should book. <br/><br/>Good shit. Lots of food that differs between breakfast, lunch and dinner times.<br/><br/>Price is really worth it for what you get! And you can go gamble after!
Nina
The food is good quality, typical roast chicken, masalas, Asian and salads. <br/><br/>If you're a group with different cuisine needs, then Fortuna is for you. Desserts are good. Coffee is excellent. Service good. Environment loud and crowded. I would go back for a Monday night dinner. Oh... it's best to book since it's always quite full. <br/><br/><br/>Negative: soda drinks not included in buffet , $5 each cup (unlimited refills). Just doesn't make much sense since one is already paying $31.60, I mean it should be included atleast with the adult price.
Sharon Harvey
Loved it. Great price and good range on the hot food and salad bar. The only negative issue I can fault was the canned fruit salad for desssert, would of been good if it was freshly made fruit salad. Would definitely go again when I'm in Auckland next. The price is $30.90 per person and you can get unlimited drinks for $5. Quite a busy restaurant (was a Tuesday night). I recommend booking.
Sheenal
Great range of food at this place. From the soups to the desserts, all are simply delicious. The environment is also very nice, great service.
Khaleesi
Come here mostly for lunch. Good price and quality compared to other buffet restaurants I've been to. There is a good variety of dishes from the salad bar and hot meals. Good options for toddlers and kids too. Staff are friendly and clear tables in a good manner. You also can get parking discount when you eat here. Since becoming meat and dairy free, not a good option coming here as not much dishes to choose from.
Remedy
Came here with family to celebrate my sis birthday. I really enjoyed the food. Fresh, good variety and delicious. Pretty affordable too would definitely come back here.

Visited Fortuna on a busy public holiday Monday. We have been here a couple of times before and have found the overall experience very good each time. We were very quickly served and seated at our table, staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only had to wait a couple of minutes to be served by a waiter that took our drinks order and within 5 minutes of entering the restaurant we were able to start helping ourselves to the buffet. The quality of the food is fantastic, definitely one of the best buffets we have visited, with a very large selection of dishes for all tastes and an enormous range of desserts to choose from too! We even managed to be seated 15 minutes before our booking time. Only complaint would be the amount of people that we seemed to have to battle to get to the dishes to get our food, however, I'm sure this was due to the restaurant being full and busy on a public holiday. Will definitely be back!

One of the most popular buffet restaurants in Auckland. Full of people, must book early. Had lunch together with 21 people there, split into 2 tables. Got a bit of challenge on arranging the tables, guess the manager needs additional customer service centric training. Foodwise okay you can enjoy selection of international food from entree till dessert. Did enjoy my time there. Not so expensive.

Fortuna offers a variety of dishes, soups, salads and dessert. The best dishes are arguably the prawns and sushi, the rest all tasted quite dull and greasy. The soups were pretty good despite not knowing exactly what's inside them. <br/><br/>It's better than Valentine's. Good for a weekday low quality feast but I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here if you are looking for good quality food.
Ÿ-Ÿ-©hin....
We've been to Fortuna many times over the years and they"v improved leeps and bounds since they"v moved up stairs from there original outlet, the service is much better the food quality wise better, but the last few times we've been, same dishes, they need to mix it up from time to time to keep the punters interested..price wise still value for money....as other buffet restaurant in Auckland not up 2scratch....
Michael Thomas
Value for money. Wait staff were really warm and friendly. The food, great quality. I enjoyed the lamb shanks I had tonight particularly. Salads good variety, personally I can't go past potato salad so I was glad to see it. Nice surroundings and pleasant vibe all round. Desert bar was okay, would like to see more of a "favourites" type selection though. Sh*ts all over Valentine's that's for damn sure. : )

Came here for dinner to celbrate my students graduation. <br/>Really nothing impressive here. We paid extra to get unlimited refills on drink. Another time I came here there was oysters (before the renovations), this time there wasn't any. <br/>The curries ok, ham pretty good. Eight is still 10 times better.

Have been here multiple times over many many years. However, our most recent dining experience here on the 4th of January 2019 have left us never wanting to come back again.<br/><br/>If we had known how bad it is now we would never had dined here again.<br/><br/>The front of house staff are rude and not helpful. You are not welcomed and seem like a nuisance to them.<br/><br/>The whole buffet selection is limited and disappointing. The meat is mostly overcooked and options are limited.<br/><br/>I would not dine here again. At $30 per head for lunch you lie money is better spent elsewhere.
Liksya
Staff? 5/5<br/>Price: worth it.<br/>Food: a great variety of food selection from desserts to breads to meals. From different cuisines.<br/>Ive been here 5x.<br/>And as Ive said,<br/>It was worth it. Make sure you didnt eat for 8 hours prior to make the most of the exprience :)<br/>The con is only, some staff dont refill the food when finished. Didnt happen all the time.
Leo Dilshan
My partner and friends went there today and it was very crowded but still not bad . Food was very good . Definitely quality ingredients. Lamb was super tender . Smoked fish was so yum 😍. Very nice presentation ! Apart from it's very crowded , it's very good .

*This review is for the dinner buffet*<br/><br/>First off, if you're coming with a group of people, make sure you get a booking as this place fills up fast. Dinner is $37 for Friday & Saturday and $31 for all other days. Arrive on time as you only get an hour and a half to eat from your booking time. Also, it's one bill per table so make sure to sort that out beforehand.<br/><br/>Coming with a group of 13, we got the first sitting at 5:30pm. Presentation was wonderful and the food tasted very fresh. The place filled up pretty quick and there were constant queues when it got busy. The range of food was surprisingly extensive although I felt the flavors were quite standard. Dessert was definitely their best section and the portion sizes were perfect as you got to try a bit of everything without feeling bloated.<br/><br/>Overall, food was refilled in a timely manner and waiters were prompt in removing plates. Atmosphere was lively and staff were friendly. Def keen to come back and try their lunch buffet.
Lester Salvador
The worst place, absolutely the worst. The service was horrible and they expected us to eat for only 1 and half hours only, this was the dinner menu by the way. Would never come back here, the food was alright but I found my chicken to be under cooked and bloodied.
Ann R
Good variety of dishes. Well kept premises. Smears packed. They have cheaper midweek rates as oppose to weekends. Must pre book. Great for family birthdays however you cannot serve your byo cake.
Lia Kay
Fortuna is always my family and i's go to buffet restaurant! Have been going for many years now and they have improved alot. Breakfast buffet is really good, Variety delicious foods. Lunch and dinner also has really good selection of food! All though their customer service lacks 3/5 some workers just stare and make things awkward <br/>But overall good place for big crowds and for birthdays etc.
LilMSunshine
Went there for Valentine's and obviously was packed. Bookings recommended as the place is always busy. Wow...food galore! Wide range of food. From appetizer, main meal, side dishes, soup and teas/coffees. Food was pretty average, bit crowded for me as the dining place isn't that big. Tables were too close. I just wish we don't have to pay $5 for fizzies, should be included in the meal. Buffet meal cost about $30+.<br/>Onto my next food adventure......

I love coming to the Fortuna Buffet Restaurant!. There is always a good choices of food and plenty of it. Also great price too $30.90 from Sunday-Thursday. You get an hour and a half of dining time which is pretty cool, time just flies though. This place is great for parties, large function and of corse dinner dates. We were lucky enough to get a table by the window and it was lovely seeing the evening sky turn to dark. <br/><br/>One thing to recommend is that you have to book in advance because this place is always booked out. During the peak of the session the lines to the food are very long and people are not always courteous of others which is a down fall. but we timed it good so we didn't wait in line to get our food. The staff are very good friendly and professional. As soon as they see an empty plate they clear it right away. <br/><br/>Overall We always have a great experience at the Fortuna Restaurant and we will be coming back for many more meals to come!! <br/>
Ezzz
I went there with family at the perfect time where they served oysters!! Although the size wasn't big but it was delicious and quite fresh. Nice range of food too and desserts. My dad whom just came from china really enjoyed it as he had a taste of all sort of western dishes and dessert.

$36.99 per person - Dinner - Last night (Sat 21 Jan) <br/>// Good experience as usual. A little pricey. Good atmosphere. Had a great time. Arrived 5.30pm - had to be out by 7pm.<br/><br/>CLEANLINESS & LAYOUT 4/5<br/>Excellent cleanliness, no complaints. Not much room by the buffet. The restaurant gets full fast so sometimes its difficult to queue up. Seating and tables utilise the space very well. <br/><br/>VARIETY OF FOOD 3.5 / 5<br/>The main reason we dine here. Lots of seafood dishes, oysters/mussels galore. Crumbed fish is dry, bit of a let-down :( Meat dishes were so succulent, my fave is the pork collar. Good variety of salads, I'm not the biggest fan of their coleslaw though. Could do with some roast veges and other vege dishes. Awesome spread.<br/><br/>DESSERT 1/5<br/>This is what lets this place down. Other than the ice-cream, the desserts are rubbish! They're served in small bite-sized portions so I got about 6 different items to try them out: Choc mousse - cocoa flavour was way too strong; Panacotta - the berry topping was sour, biscuit base was dry; Meringue/Mini-pav - this was ok, not a big fan of meringues though; Choc cake - good; Lemon curd - very sour, overpowering, couldn't eat it.<br/><br/>DRINKS 3/5<br/>Most buffet restaurants offer a caraffe of water. But not Fortuna. You have to go to the dessert bar to fill a glass of water and bring it back to your table. With the amount of people walking around, sometimes that becomes a bit of an issue. You can pay $5 for a Coke glass - refill as often as you like. And obviously buy alcohol if wanted. The water thing annoyed me a little.<br/><br/>CUSTOMER SERVICE 4/5Always excellent. 1) At the last minute, amended our booking to add an extra person, no problems. 2) Empty dishes were promptly cleared from our table within 5mins or so. Great service!
Kelly
Its just cheap quality buffet. I will not go there agin. Not recommended. It was My mum's birthday dinner but we had bad time. Fish and cheaps are not bad.

I enjoyed the buffet dinner at Fortuna. The range of foods is pretty diverse. I really enjoyed the salads (especially the vermicelli salad) and the roasts. The soups were delicious too. However, as a dessert person I was fairly let down by Fortuna. The variety is quite limited and they did not taste very fresh. Nevertheless, having the soft serve machine is a great idea and I enjoyed that! <br/>I'd dine here again if I was staying at Sky City hotel again!
Sam J Shaw
Fortuna in sky city was probably one of the worst places I have ever eaten at. The breakfast foods where terrible. Bread felt stale and waffles tasted stale. The Greek yogurt tasted like sour cream. There was also a piece of metal in my eggs benedict. I wouldn't recommend going. Some waiters were kind but that was the only good thing really.
Arjun Narayanan
We stayed at the iconic SkyCity hotel and we were offered complimentary breakfast buffet spread  at their Fortuna, their all day buffet restaurant which also houses a bar. The spread was not widespread as much as I would have liked it.  The restaurant is located on the first floor and is not difficult to get there.  As we entered, the choices are quite limited especially for vegetarians but that's the only deterrent.  Read on to know more if the spread live up to the reputation of their hotel or did it turn out to be a damp squib.<br/><br/>They offered some really good hot and cold foods, some juices (concoctions), cold milkshakes, porridge, muesli, dry fruits, cut fruits and some really interesting cakes too. The hot foods included hash browns, grilled button mushrooms and some scrambled eggs while cold foods included yogurts (including flavored ones such as strawberry and blueberry). There were multiple options as breakfast cereals including muesli, cornflakes, oats accompanied by some dry fruits to top them up with.  <br/><br/>Breads included do it yourself toasted breads, chocolate danish, muffins, croissants and pancakes topped with raspberry & maple syrups. I loved the peanut butter short cake with some chocolate elements in it too.  The danish was excellent with chocolate syrup oozing out of every bite. The pancake was soft and silky yet delectable. The croissants were excellent, crispy, fluffy and perfectly well balanced flavors. The juices included orange, pineapple, lemon flavored water with some mint notes in it and a really cold chocolate milkshake too. <br/><br/>The hash browns were golden brown and fried to perfection. I asked the stewards for some help since the choices were limited and they turned out to be quite helpful in my endeavor on the day. The muffins were quite good too which included a chocolate flavored one. There was also an additional stuffed croissant with a melange of colors coated with dollops of vanilla syrup in it. Overall, good service, great tasting food although I wish the spread was bigger especially for those vegetarians out there. Loved the experience. The buffet is worthy of a visit though.

for the first time tried buffet dinner on Sat. 36.90$/head with Oyster(Fri and Sat only) , pre cooked shelled prawn, defrost frozen mussel , smoke salmon salad (too salty for me). without these seafoods, it will definitely too expensive. <br/><br/>other menus are just normal and I don't feel special.<br/><br/>desserts , free soft drink are provided.<br/><br/>if you wanna have a variety of international cuisines and seafoods, I would recommend you to try dinner buffet at Eight Restaurant at Langham hotel but !!! it will be 119$/ head.
Ray Jay
I would have to say that we had a pretty good time here , the food selection could of been bigger but other than that it was not too bad, price was around $32 per adult and the waitress staff were very polite. The only thing letting the experience down was the manager who approached and said that they were closing when we had only been there for a short time. Other than that good experience!
Elena Olive Fanene
Enter for my 21st dinner the staff were rude and they let my mother got a tab on my account I made the booking and Noone told me there was tab made and that I would have to be liable to pay plus the food is crap and expensive they added costs because they had oysters even though I don't eat oysters so that seemed shit
Melle
Been here few times for lunch and overall bland. Went for lunch at Fortuna last weekend and price slightly higher than the weekdays, don't understand why because buffet lacking alot. Not much appealing options just alot of mince meals eg meatballs, nachoes, lasagne, cottage pie zzzzzz. Seafood major let down. Dessert options this day alot of dark chocolate desserts were not nice. Prefer Valentines for buffet they better selection and free parking. Disappointing visit to Fortuna, would appreciate jugs made available to tap own water is annoying back and forth to tap or have water served by how many waiters floating not doing much. Fortuna prices don't match food experience probably just the location and ambience. No rush to visit again.
Maria
Went here for lunch around 12pm and there were already a lot of people there. I'm not very pleased with food here though since the selection seemed limited. I've been here a few times already and they had sashimi/salmon available. The sushi they had today had frozen salmon I think, it didn't really look fresh. The couscous was cold and not so fresh as well. The roasted chicken had no flavour and had a rough texture. The ham was too salty. The mussels were to rubbery. The raspberry panacotta for dessert had not taste near the bottom part. The leche flan had no X factor. Overall the food wasn't fresh nor appetising which made it less appealing. However I did like the fries, cottage pie and mash potato since they all had flavour. I also really liked the pavlova, the top part of the raspberry panacotta and the ice cream (which I sprinkled with raspberry sauce and sprinkles). They had a lot of flavour and appealed most to me. The price is a really too much though at $25, I believe it's too expensive. I think $20 would be a more suitable price. My dad likes buffet styled food so I'll probably visit in the future again. I think my impression might change the next time I come here.
Maggie Ryder
I have only tired th breakfast buffet which is amazing massive variety of delish food. Eggs benedict are not runny enough tho bt I love th variety very yum. What u would expect for that price
Charlene Weaver
Haven't been to a Buffet like this (or Fortuna) in years!!<br/><br/>Loved it, such a fun way to eat with so many options available. I was super excited and just wanted to try everything! Amazing value at only $30 per person. Stand outs for me were the entrees (soup, bread, extra virgin cold pressed olive oil, vinegar and dukkah), roast pork, lamb shanks and the ham were all great. Loads of options available (pizza, nachos, curries etc) also a lot of different condiments and sauces to go with everything such as apple sauce, chutneys, sour cream, gravy etc. <br/><br/>Desserts were the only let down! Not many options apart from having a whole heap of these mini muffins which were so dry and tasted awful. Not a fan of the soft serve ice cream machine either. The only desert I liked was the hot pudding with custard and the pavlova. They should do some lighter dessert options such as jelly, mousse, trifle, brandy snaps, pannacotta etc rather than having a lot of very heavy cake/muffin desserts.<br/><br/>Overall a really sweet place to go to and not too hard on the wallet. It's not amazing, high quality food so don't expect too much, just go and enjoy all the options.
Wither Assassin
The food was good but some of it seemed a bit like it was reheated from a previous night. Most of the service was ok however we had some issues with the drinks and were given little explanation before arriving that some things you had to pay extra for like sodas, which is understandable but it would have been better if we were notified of this when we arrived. The deserts were amazing and id probably come back just to have them again.
Seamus M.
Been here multiple times. Food is hit and miss, they can be good and not so good. I reckon their breakfast is nice...all you can eat bacon eggs, hash browns. Nearly all the breakfast items you can think of.
Michelle Hwang
Tried their lunch buffet before. Forgot the price but still remembering the taste. Generally speaking that all items was good taste. But if they can provide more fresh fruit and vegetable items, that will be better for vegetarian diner. And the ice cream machine was out of service on that day.
Emily Gardiner
Buffet, do you say Buffet?! If you're Polynesian than you have most likely visited this sweet spot! Affordable yet a tad on the fancier side for some of us, Fortuna is definitely top 5 for large family dinners. Always hits the spot and doesn't hit you in the pocket! This place gets two thumbs up from me.
Kayla McMinn
Great for family, was very family friendly and quite crowded. Long lines for people who booked and took a while for us to be seated. Great food selection and had just enough time to have a good few helpings before our reservation time was up. Only reason for a 3.5 is every time I've been children are running around and knocking over things.
Nicole Hitchcock
Came here as a group of 8. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Oysters were fresh and coffee/dessert was fantastic. Plates cleared quickly. Was not offered water for our table and was a little on the cramped side but still very enjoyable. Parking is included which is a nice bonus. I recommend booking as it can fill pretty fast. Will definitely return.

Entrees/soups/mains/desserts are quite good, plenty of spread and choice obviously as it is a buffet. It is a heaven for those who love their meats and seafood. Plenty of salad choices too for the health conscious. Good for family gathering so everyone can choose themselves what they want to eat without the fuss. Plates are cleared frequently. The only thing to keep in mind is always book in advance and they have a 2-hours dining period or they will chase you off!
Tonez
Was here yesterday with the family for lunch. Great service, great food, and very affordable! I recommend the bottomless fizzy refills!! :)
Anastasia Kadir
I was having a class lunch here before. There is nothing that really catch my eye. But, for the price $24 and compare to the quality of food actually they are quite good. They have 4 section, it was salad, main dishes, bread, and dessert with drink. I like the salad and dessert they served, however, for the pasta and most of their meat and not season well for my taste. <br/>To conclude, let's say this buffet is more like hotel daily breakfast.
Chops
This place is just crap. Everything is overcooked by miles, the lamb shanks are terrible . The chefs are a bunch of knobs who don't even make eye contact with the customers when cutting meat or walking around. I saw a lot of them just walking around. The deserts are weak in flavors and almost seem tasteless. Yeah well its scum.
Temi Taio
A nice flashy buffet restaurant. Reasonable price for the range and a quality of food that comes out the kitchen. Food (3.5 out of 5). Service (3 out of 5). Overall a good family restaurant...great for functions. And would not hurt your wallet either😃😃
Seriously Foodie
Good amont of choices, but service is very bad. Especially the hostess, booking is recommended not a must; even then the hostess was very rude and refused a table in spite of plenty of tables.
Neyotalks
Well they say they are vegetarian friendly but as a vegetarian I didn't find much variety. A good place to get some nice Asians food at resonable price.
Justine Klassen
I am a quest to find the best buffet in Auckland, so far I've only been to Valentine's and Fortuna so far. I went for a Christmas eve dinner to meet up with my aunt here. I tried a little of everything and thought it was just below average. I enjoyed the tempura prawn the most while the sushi was a bit questionable. In my opinion, the salads were all overdressed and the poultry and fish were dry. There was nothing really that stood out to me in the dessert section but it was't bad. The service and atmosphere was average for a buffet and definitely better than Valentine's. It's not a place I would revisit.
Judy Chhy
Reasonable price for the amount of options you get here, service is average but I really do enjoy the food here. Atmosphere is also great pretty packed when I went
Barb&Ted
Went for lunch today with family who were first time diners. Again great selection of foods and great value for money however, the salads from the salad bar lacked any flavour although they looked good, just no taste! Miss the ice cream machine in the dessert section. Punnets of ice cream is not the same as the machine being available. Also please make teaspoons available and not wooden sticks!!!!
S B
I would give this restaurant more a 3.7-3.9 out of 5.  We came here for Christmas Buffet breakfast, and they had a great selection for a reasonable price per person.   They had just started up live Christmas Singing on the guitar when we were leaving . There were large family groups here on the morning, and its a great setting for a family gathering, but you need to book in advance.  I have also come here on Mothers Day previously, and was given a glass of bubbly on arrival, or you could choose a rose.  This is a great family restaurant for special occasions!
Spencer's Reviews
Had great variety of foods. Was cooked well and was still hot when you got to your table. Desserts could be improved just a bit but the white chocolate mousse was a highlight though. Maybe have signs near the dishes for people who are vegan and gluten free.
Liaxo
Reasonable price for a good buffet restaurant in town. Probably one of the best buffets in Auckland I have ever been too. Personally, I don't think there is much of a difference between lunch and dinner, they have the same food for both times. What I enjoy most is their variety of desserts, especially their lemon tarts...yuuuummmm! If you are unsure of what to eat (or you want a bit of everything like me), without hurting your wallet, this is the place to go.
Lucy
I had not been to Fortuna in over 10 years and it has definitely improved from what I remembered.  Very good selection of appetisers, mains and desserts, and plentiful for the amount of people there.  Look forward to returning with my children as I know they will love the dessert selection.<br/><br/>Only issue, they need to replenish the cutlery faster as it kept running out.
Anna Wang
worst buffet i've ever experienced. barely any variety of food and the quality was very poor. For example, the sushi was like the 50c pieces that you could get at sushi shop on the road, the bread was really dry, the soup was very instant, the desserts were horrible - dry, fruits didnt taste like what they are suppose to taste like, it just tasted like the sweet syrup that they soak it with, and they even used canned pineapples... I mean, how low is that.. they also charged $5 for soft drinks.... waste of my money.
Vivek
A nice casual dining place with a decent variety in their buffet. A good mixture of Italian, Japanese , american , kiwi and Indian dishes. I went here for the good meal but the deserts turned to be better than the actual main course. Try this restra in late night and during the weekdays( avoid weekends).<br/><br/>Some dishes are very nice while others are average . Choc is moose needs lot of improvement and same with brownie which is too hard to crack :). Sushi is pretty average<br/><br/>One thing which they should include in buffet is 1 drink along with the food otherwise it a perfect place for celebrations.<br/><br/>Must Try: Shrimp salad, Pumpkin Soup, Lamb Shank <br/>Don't try: Cheese cake, Choc Moose
Gimshan Jayawardena
This is a great all-you-can-eat buffet for a reasonable price. We really enjoyed the variety of hot dishes they had. Chicken Teriyaki and Roast chicken were my personal favourites. Desserts selection was massive, tbh. So much of stuff but honestly by the time you are done with the mains, you would be too full to enjoy the desserts (That's what happened to my girlfriend). Soft drinks are available for a reasonable price. A regular glass with unlimited re-fills is only $5.
Shanshan
average on everything, not worth to come again. i was there quite long time ago, cant remember anything now. <br/>probably just a place for company dining or social club.
Sarah S
Dined here for a friends birthday. For a buffet it is quite good value for money. It's nothing special but there is a good variety of dishes. The highlight for me would have to be the dessert. I'm a real kid at heart & love making a sundaee & the mousse & other sweet treats they have are also really yum. If you are after quantity over quality this would be a good place to dine.
Na-Rita Taia
Went to. Fortuna for lunch with my family. Food was average. Nothing really stood out. There were condiments for sushi, but none in sight, pork was dry and bland. Staff didn't seem as if they cared about whether you liked the food or not. I haven't been to Fortuna in years... And now I remember why. <br/>Unfortunately I'm going back for dinner in a few weeks, hopefully my experience will be better. Will update

Food was pretty ok. Good value. Service a bit slow. Had our dirty plates on the table for a long period of time without being cleared. Dessert selection was okay-ish. Overall it was an okay experience. I reckon dinner is a lot better than lunch.

Very mediocre. Had more expectations from the place with it being in Skycity and all but I was sadly disappointed. My friends and I like to visit different all-you-can-eat buffets around the city and I have to say, this was, by far, the worst I've been to. Even though the spread was huge and the food was just edible, what the buffet actually contained was very very sad. Multiple potato salads along with 1 pasta salad and the rest just looked and tasted like random vegetables tossed around in oil or vinegar. The mains were a horrible mess. 3 pork dishes (almost seemed like they had heaps of pork to get rid of) were on display. Roast pork, carved ham, some other kind of pork that was really dry with thick, almost cold, fat. HEAPS of vegetables. Roasted potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli, roasted potatoes and kumara, roasted kumara. Everywhere, there were vegetables everywhere. At one small counter there was plain rice, shrimp fried rice, crumbed hoki and hot chips (why would I pay $30.90 to eat fish and chips????). The rice was gluey. There was a make-your-own-nachos corner with below standard chilli and cheese that was going hard. Corn chips were pretty fresh, even though they came out of a packet. There were 2 curries, chicken randang and beef and mushroom in red wine sauce. The randang was appalling, it was nowhere close and the beef and mushroom in red wine sauce was, not surprisingly by now, wrong. It was a curry. I'm not sure if that's what they were going for. They don't seem to top up the food as much as they top up the desserts and that should be looked into. The breads were very nice and so was the pumpkin soup. The dessert station was, again, quantity and not quality. Didn't try everything because I'd had enough disappointment for the night, had the chocolate mouse, some chocolate cake thing and the ice cream from the softie swirly machine. Chocolate mousse was nice, the cake seemed a few days old and the ice cream, oh the ice cream, so icy. Not creamy, it was like sinking my teeth into a blob of milk and water sorbet, very bad.<br/>All in all, I thought this was a rip off. Nothing left me wanting more, absolutely nothing. I would recommend this place if you were a 5 year old who didn't really care about whether you were eating fish and chips with rice and dry roast pork but anyone other than that, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND APPETITE FOR SOMEWHERE BETTER.

Fun buffet that walks on the line between affordable and expensive given their selection.<br/><br/>Food: 6/10<br/>Service: 3.5/5 <br/>Ambience: 3.5/5<br/>Value: 3/5<br/>Overall: 16/25

I only go here in special occasions. If you're planning to go I suggest you make a booking just because it does get quite full especially during the weekends. The place itself is really nice, which is fair enough since it's inside the sky city. They have a variety of options to choose from in terms of meat, seafood, veges, soups, and staple food. They even have a range of cuisines although their asian dishes may not taste as authentic. There's also a variety of desserts. Overall, it's pretty good. One of the best buffets in my opinion ZomatoStudents

I was invited to fortuna for a friend's birthday and overall for a buffet it was very decent considering the modest price. The cold and hot selections are plenty but the most satisfying selection is most definitely dessert, the cheesecake was delicious as it was light and not too sweet, the flan was a bit of a miss but honestly there was allot of options to choose from. My recommendations would be to have the international dishes more authentic and not mellowed down and maybe a nicer selection of ice-cream instead of soft-serve. I cannot fault the service at all, the manger made a point to visit every table to ensure everyone was happy. Overall, I think this buffet is a good choice for large groups and birthdays if you don't want to splurge out too much.

We were there for a Family Lunch 3 adults and 4 kids. This is children friendly restaurant with superb service. Variety of food was wide and cook to perfection. <br/><br/>Friendly staff and time allocated was more than enough. we had 20 mints left from the allocated time. Friendly staff and very polite. We were there on 20/09/2015 for lunch and kids only paid half price for the buffet. Highly recommended.

The food was nice, the place was nice although it was crowded, but the service was awful! The waitress that served our table didn't smile at all and she was really unfriendly! She just walked pass our table when she was supposed to take the all the empty plates! We told this to the manager until she got told off but she was talking behind our back while looking at our table with her co-worker! I didn't even have any appetite to eat anymore when this restaurant is a buffet restaurant! I would never come back to this place again! This restaurant doesn't even deserve a place at Sky City!

Went with the wife today and we loved it. Couple of rounds with the starters and salads then moved on to the pork belly and fish, yummy! <br/><br/>One of the staff who attends to guest, Melissa, is fantastic and super pleasant, always smiling and eager to help. <br/><br/>Next visit will be for dinner because of the oysters!

Customers service average <br/><br/>Food was average/ good, loads of cold choices meats, salids <br/><br/>Hot food was okay <br/><br/>Favorite was the coffee and diffrent little desserts. <br/><br/>Not really a standout place, not the first thought that comes to mind when people ask me about an exceptional eating experience.. I would go back if I was invited for a birthday maybe not if I had to pay.

Fortuna has more variety than most buffet restaurants I have been to! I have been here for both lunch and dinner. Food options are quite good, though I usually save my tummy for the desserts. My favourite part of the buffet. Everything looked amazing and it's super cool that they have a coffee machine with unlimited tea and coffee! Service here is friendly, and the people coming around to get plates are attentive and nice as well. <br/><br/>The only thing negative I have about Fortuna is the time limit restriction, but other than that, it's isn't a bad buffet!
FoodLoco
Came here for my mom's bday dinner.. Its good value for money<br/>Good - Range of seafood & Dessert<br/>Bad - Time limit?<br/>Must try - Spit roast kumara and all those yummy desserts

Fortuna is pretty decent, food are consistently refilled and they taste good too. They have a friendly staff that provides excellent service - always coming over to the table and taking the used plates etc. I also like the setting and ambience of the resto, seats are spaced out nicely and there's a nice view on the side. Pricing is also good, not expensive at all. Although, there's always room for improvement, food is just a little bit more than average. Also, it's kind of unfair that there's a time limit (especially for me as I eat really slow), I know that they get extremely packed but we are all paying customers.

Went here for a mates 21st, the hospitality was really good. We arrived at the table with a card saying happy birthday which was really sweet from the staff. I had heard bad things about this place but it wasn't the case at all. The food was simple but good, I prefer more spice and flavor but it was nice to try something different. However the pizza was cold and didn't taste that great. I liked the garlic bread alot, the pasta with bacon literally tasted like butter. So I didn't really like the flavor of that. Moving onto the dessert which was my favorite. usually not a huge fan of sweets but the variety of desserts available was amazing. It was really up to its standards and tasted Devine. My favourite was the lemon tart. My friend said the pavlova was soft and melted in his mouth. Service from the staff was really nice and warm, overall a nice and lovely place with average food. A place to visit once maybe. :)

What can i say..we booked for 30people, place was packed busy place..in terms of food, was alright, didn't knock my socks off, but definitely filled the gut. Stand out was the lamb shanks, i ate alot of them and ham, also little roast spuds. Price ok table not wobbly lol..seating was good..will go back
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Food ordered:<br/>4x adults<br/><br/>Bill: $123.60<br/><br/>Big tummy: This was my first time going to Fortuna, after I'd heard rather polarizing reviews of the place, so I didn't really know what to expect. Overall, I personally found the restaurant to be pleasant, though I can understand why it has its critics. While it is a step up from competition such as Valentines (and has a cheaper price tag), it still pales in comparison to rivals such as Eight. <br/>The food itself was of a high quality and although the selection might not be that great, there was still enough to cater to the tastes of most people. I also thought the layout of the buffet itself was rather clever. Instead of having one line, where you can get stuck behind someone slow, the buffet operates in two directions, so you can start at whichever end doesn't have a queue of oldies or children. The only fault I could find regarding the food was that both the ice cream and coffee machine broke down multiple times during our visit. <br/>The service itself was great, with one waitress (I didn't manage to catch her name, but remember she was the one wearing glasses) in particular being exemplary. She was friendly, helpful and even conversational.<br/>On a random note, we did have a rather annoying end to the night where the security guard by the entrance to the restaurant demanded to see the ID of our of our guests (she is 26). I understand the need to check ID, but wouldn't you do this before we enter the premises as opposed to when we're leaving? I mean, if she didn't have ID is she just supposed to stay in the restaurant for the rest of her days? Kind of a stupid situation, which was a bad way to end the meal.<br/><br/>Little tummy: This was my first time at Fortuna also and overall I enjoyed the experience. The highlight for me was definitely the dessert bar, with the chocolate and vanilla mousse being absolutely divine. <br/>The cheesecake was a bit too sweet for my tastes and the jelly was kind of bland, but other than that, the desserts were on point. I was somewhat disappointed with the seafood selection, as we'd heard so much about Fortuna's seafood. Sadly, their reputation didn't live up to the hype. In particular, I believe the prawns would've been better served freshly cooked, rather than on ice. As mentioned above, we had a somewhat embarrassing experience with a security guard as we were leaving, with put a bit of a downer on the night, but overall we'd most likely come back to dine at Fortuna again.
Feel Food
Went there on lunch for a special occasion. For the first timer its Good. Variety in buffet. Liked the ambience. Dined there once too. Sad to see that no difference in dinner and lunch Menu.

Came to fortuna last night (friday) to try out something different and buffet style. Although fortuna has had its fair share of bad reviews in the past, i have to say they have really hit it up a notch in regards to food, service and seating. The selection of food was delicious, fresh, lots of choice and well presented. The desserts were also very nice! The only thing i can say that was a tiny fault was the orange juice named "kerikeri" tasted more like raro or cordial so i dont think it was really orange juice at all. All in all i was happy and would certainly return again in the future. Seafood lovers A++++

Had my birthday dinner in this wonderful restaurant at Skycity. I like the fact that it's a buffet and I can get food whenever I want and how much I want too. Other than that, staff were very friendly and welcoming and so were the chefs. Fortuna is a must to dine in at least once.
Nicole Mae Flores
Been here to celebrate birthdays and most times i wasn't impressed. There was a variety of food.. somewhat like valentines. The service was alright but the fact that they had a time restriction was a bit disappointing. One of the things that they have to work on is the fact that they had to be more attentive to customers and be different from the other buffet places. As it is a part of SkyCity, more care and attention should be aimed towards every aspect of the experience and not just on the food. Overall, would go there again but probably later on once the place has given enough time in training their staff to be able to make a good relationship with customers in order for them to have a good experience.
Maria Foy
I had great expectations when I went here that it would be amazing. Because it was in Sky City that is. Unfortunately to me, it was like Valentines. Now that may be fine for the restaurant but just wasn't what I was expecting. I'd still go back, will just have to adjust my expectations haha
LouLou
Arrived towards the end of the buffet serving and there was still plenty of variety, right to the end. The option of Eggs Benedict was interesting for a buffet and wasn't too bad.  Good flavours to their fried rice and good options in general. Food was well heated. Good coffee for a self serve machine. Good atmosphere for a buffet breakfast.
Darnelle Pipitolu
For my first experience at Fortuna for Lunch I thoroughly enjoyed my pumpkin soup and the wide selection of breads that were available. Although there wasn't many wow factors when it came to the food selection I didn't know what to have as it all looked like typical home cooked meals that were made without love and the salad bar wasn't very appealing either. However the soup & dessert made the whole experience worth while.

If this was a staff rating use would have got a Five however the Lamb Shanks were room temperature as well as the Pizza. Other than that everything else was lovly and my dad absolutely loved it. Cheers :)

Time for buffet ! Lol it's very worthy ! Just 22.90 nzd for lunch but you can eat lots of food there. Seafood , fish & chip & salad , chicken , ice cream , chocolate , cake etc ! I'm sure i will go there again !

This place has a good selection of foods. Good friendly service. Love their sweet and sour cucumber salad. But could do with a hint more vinegar. Their roasted potatoes were very delicious and crunchy. <br/><br/>Their selection of desserts are very good! And well presented -they have a whole lollies selection! Their pavlova was nice and their raspberry jelly was good too! Just so much there was so good!! The only bad thing was their pizzas. They were all cold if not barely warm. Would've been so much nicer if they were hot.

Fortuna is the place to be if you wanted classy buffet style dinner. Great place. You just need to make sure your reservation before coming in. I love to treat my family here.
Debra Anne Vatuvei
Fortuna is the most best buffet restaurant ever👌 and also cheap and affordable😊<br/><br/><br/><br/>I was there yesterday and damn Im always dreaming of the food all day omg Im coming back on Thursday for lunch😊
Gianina Castro
Not quite satisfied with the variety of food they have. The food is average, but I have been to much better buffets and this is just not up to standard.
Paych88
I had been taken to the Fortuna Restaurant for the first time yesterday with my husband and kids and it was a great experience. Their customer service was awesome and their meals were delightful. I enjoyed my lunch as well as my dessert plate (though I was expecting more at the dessert bar). There wasn't much variety of hot foods and desserts to choose from but all in all it was great . Would definitely go back , probably try the dinner service next time .<br/>Cheers
Suyuan Liu
Very nice environment for fine dining. Food they provide are of variety and good taste. For those who want to have a good value of money, some fine dishes are prepared like lamb shank.<br/><br/>The shortcoming is the waiting line is a bit long especially the majority are moving down to a certain step of meal, like dessert.
Juanine
We went there on Monday to celebrate a family Birthday. It all felt a little rushed as you have a time limit of 1.5 Hours, so you really don't have time to sit around and chat while you enjoy a leasirely meal. To start with I thought I would have a little seafood starter, so I had some Smoked Hoki, Surimi & Sweet Chilli Salad, Shrimp Cocktail and some antipasto mushrooms.  The Smoked Hoki was the best part of those choices.  I did not enjoy the shrimp cocktail, which had red onion and celery in it as these flavours overpowered the shrimp and it was very tart. The surimi was a nice combination with the sweet chilli sauce and the mushroom came out of a bottle.  For mains, I decided to try a variety of their hot meat dishes. I had the Lamb Shank, which was my favourites, although not completely melt off the bone. The Beef and Red Wine casserole was a bit bland. The Pork Sichuan was nice, but not very spicy.   Luckily I got to the desserts in time, becuase they seemed to be running out of a lot of them, as the number of jelly tubs was ever increasing and the other selections dwindling.  The creme caramel was nice, albeit a little firm for my liking. The Dark Chocolate Mousse was very rich, the way I like it.  The Pavlova looked like it was store bought with hardly any cream and only a tiny piece of melon on it. The White Chocolate Mousse was a little tasteless.  Although the food was not the best and it was really busy, we had a pleasant enough afternoon.
Desiree
I guess you really get what you pay for here. It wasn't anything great.. you have a time limit of 2 hours but you really don't need that much time as the foods not to a high enough standard that you'd want to be continuously eating for that entire period - so the foods extremely bland there's little/nil variety but then again it's good for a buffet. the wait staff are good, attentive, nice. I get the feeling SkyCity wanted an upmarket Buffet Restaurant at a reasonable price - I mean they do have a good foundation for a really nice place - like the location, staff etc. but the foods definitely letting the place down. I'd go back but not in a hurry...
Lina
Had a birthday dinner here. Wasn't impressed with lamb necks being included in the "lamb shanks". But otherwise, the dinner menu wasn't anything fancy. I believe the new Fortuna isn't as good as it used to be before all the changes. Probably a good option if you're hungry and after a buffet style restaurant in the city. Good range of desserts.
Lee V
Bland food. I know that it's one of the more reasonably priced buffets so if you're pretty hungry then it might be okay. If you're looking for tasty food then don't go here.
Sungsam7
Haven't been here since it first opened but I have to say the food is much better than expected. For the price you pay it's a bang for your buck buffet...a far cry from Valentines ? only bummer is the wine bar is down the other end of the restaurant and with the number of staff 'walking' around they could be more attentive and clear the tables more often.
Jamie
Excellent service. The staff are great. They've reduced the prices too since I was last there, but it seems variety of food has also reduced. To be honest, I'd rather pay a bit more and have a wider variety of tasty food (including oysters!) than how it is now. Overall, a nice place to eat though.
Manuia
The food was top quality and the service was even better. Making reservations and re-booking was made easy by the helpful operator who was more than happy to help and answer my queries. Definately recommend this place to anyone.
R
Great Food selection, absolutely enjoyed it the food was delicious.<br/><br/>Very friendly staff and well mannered.<br/><br/>I was also a little annoyed that when we sat down we found out it was another $5 for unlimited soft drinks,
Chanel Stevens
booked a birthday here and it was a great experience view, food and all. definitely worth going to again for another function or birthday coming up
Teekay21
We came here for lunch and it was amazing from the service to the food. Fresh food high quality and very tasty. Loved the variety. Highly recommend.
Brooke Prasad
Yum! The wait staff were really amazing and helpful. Wish they had signs for what every single item was though. Also thought the drinks range could be a bit better including sprite and fanta and raspberry into the vending machines? The orange juice was really yummy.
Zoupitup
Its Denny's quality at skycity prices...no compliment intended. Stock standard greasy spoon fare with some pretend healthy options. Half arsed food with no heart. Excellent wait staff - best thing about the place.
Savio Valladares
Fortuna is one of the better choices for buffet meal in city be it breaky, lunch or dinner. Its a buffet with a variety and good value for money. The restaurant has good ambience but is always busy. The upside is that the buffet is always topped up which is rare to find in restaurants these days If you are looking for great service and a quiet meal then give this place a miss. In my opinion this is a quick come in dine and leave sort of place.
Rochae Slattery-Holtz
Food was delicious , heaps to choose from , they have allocated times in which you have to be finished which is not desirable when out for dinner apart from that I'll be back :)
Anna Wei
This place exceeded my expectations, I loved it! They offer excellent service as there is always a waiter or waitress near you that can help you with anything you need. My favourite thing about this place is definitely the dessert table - it is amazing. In my opinion, the food is worth the price you pay. The interior of this place is quite nice too and I will definitely be coming back again :)
Richard Xu
Loved it! It looks like heaps of things to try, but it's actually quite possible to try everything and go back for seconds. The desert table was amazing, but some off the stuff was really really too sweet for me. The price is quite high, but the quality of dining, the service and the overall environment was great! They give you 90 minutes to eat but that's more than enough time. Would definitely come back again!
Yum
Use to come here for breakfast on Sundays after the clubbing scene or other drinking events. Great value for money, I mean...its a buffet - come on. Lots of variety of food ESPECIALLY the pork belly during lunch/dinner time. Staff are especially helpful. I have bumped into so many old friends here, so Fortuna must be doing something right. Wonderful place to take the Family.
Sophia O-W
For someone who doesn't eat much because of dietary requirements, I wouldn't waste my time going there. Paid $29.90 per person for a group of 20+. The tables weren't pushed together or anything when we got there, and everyone was segregated from each other by other diners in between us. The food is average quality, drinks are an extra cost but staff are friendly. Even being "vegetarian friendly" there is VERY limited options for vegetarians. I must say, the makeover for Fortuna has made it look a lot nicer than it used to be (despite the gaudy clown wall paintings). But it still has a long way to go, for it to be a top quality buffet.
Sanjay
Just good for first timers. Same menu in dinner and lunch without even a single change. Not fresh too. Just OK. Went on lunch with friends as it was a treat. Coincidentally someone invited us for dinner after few days. Found no changes. OK to be tried once.
Roya Rezaei
This was our first and last time in fortuna .. the place was nice but the food was avarage i had high expectations for this place i could hardly find a tasty meal.
Vineel Babu Gutta
Fortuna restaurant is located on 3rd level in the Sky city building. I went to this restaurant with my aunt, cousin and uncle on Friday evening. The restaurant was very busy and fully packed. The table is reserved upto 1 and half hour and within that time we can eat all. There are many items for the buffet starting from soups, appetizers to wide range of deserts. Soft Drinks and alcohol are not included in the buffet.<br/>Taste of the food was really good. As the restaurant is busy most of the weekend nights, you will have to spend lot of time waiting in the queue. Price was not bad, it was 35 dollars for each person.
Mira
service 3/5environment 3/5food (quality ) 3/5cost performance 4/5drink 3/5My favorites: shrimp cocktail, pasta, chocolate mousseNot recommend: shampagne ham ( too salty but mustard is good.) Lamb shanks.
Georgie @ Georgieats
Fortuna is a large buffet restaurant located on Level 3 of the SkyCity Complex. I have been to Fortuna four times now (all for celebrations), most recently last Tuesday night for a work function. We were going to see the show 'Hairspray' at SkyCity Theatre, so this made it the perfect place for dinner. There were about 30 of us in total. Each visit to Fortuna has been good. The food is very average compared to the buffet at Eight at The Langham, but it is cheap at only $29.90 for an "all you can eat" buffet dinner.<br/><br/>Fortuna has four food stations. I usually head to the salad and seafood bar first, where you can choose between pasta or potato salad plus salad greens, tomatoes, cucumber, chicken salad, sundried tomatoes and olives to prawns, mussels, shrimp and crab meat. There is even sushi, although it is not that nice, so best to stick with the above.<br/><br/>There is also a soup and bread station. A few of my workmates had the tomato soup, which they said was delicious. There was also a vegetable soup; however, I did not try it. There are also several breads to choose from to accompany your soup and you can add croutons and olive oil on top as well, which I thought was a nice touch.<br/><br/>For the main course, there were a wide variety of options to choose from, such as lamb shanks, Moroccan chicken with chickpeas, chilli mince (to which you can add tortilla chips, sour cream, cheese and jalapeños to make nachos), roast chicken, champagne ham, vegetarian pizza, creamy pasta, pork belly, roasted vegetables, mashed potato and bread rolls.<br/><br/>I tried the chilli mince, champagne ham and roast chicken. The chilli mince was tasty and I liked that you could add different accompaniments to it to turn it into nachos. The ham and chicken were also good. It was nice having ham off the bone, because I usually only eat it at Christmas time. Some of my workmates like the lamb shanks, while others thought it was average. I guess there will also be mixed reviews about the food, because everybody likes different foods. Overall, nice main dishes but could have easily made them at home. I was hoping there would be something exciting like a fragrant and spicy Indian curry, steamed pork and prawn dumplings or something unusual like kangaroo, but I guess I will be going back to Eight Restaurant for that!<br/><br/>Although most of the food I have mentioned above is standard fare, I do love their dessert station! It changes quite regularly, but below were some of the desserts on offer the night we dined at Fortuna:<br/>- Chocolate mousse (best I have ever had), vanilla mousse and pink lamingtons with cream  <br/>- Cheesecake, chocolate mud cake and Pavlova<br/>- CrÚme caramel, jelly and jars of lollies<br/>- Soft-serve ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauces and sprinkles to go on top- Cheeses, crackers, grapes, tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc.<br/><br/>While I do love fancy desserts and chocolate fountains, sometimes it is nice to have a few simple desserts, especially if a soft-serve ice cream machine is involved! But, really, just a slice of Pavlova with chocolate mousse and sprinkles takes me back to my childhood! I rarely eat these sorts of desserrts nowadays, so it is a nice treat!<br/><br/>As for the service, well, it was okay. Most of our group had wine with their meals. The waiter brought out mismatching wine glasses for everybody, which was strange. In addition, we had to wait ages for waters, and the waiter never refilled them throughout the night. It was interesting because we hardly saw our waiter for the rest of the night, or any waiters for that fact. There was only one staff member visible - the chef behind a counter slicing the ham off the bone.<br/><br/>Overall, I recommend coming here if you are going to a show at the SkyCity theatre and want to have a reasonably cheap night out. However, I would still be willing to pay more for the buffet at Eight Restaurant, because the food at Fortuna just does not live up to the hype.
Adeline
Average at best. I actually prefer the OLD Fortuna.<br/>Variety was poor, taste was below-average and customer service was fair. <br/>You'll probably get better ala carte meals somewhere else for the same amount of money.
Ramon
Went for lunch with my partner, as far as buffets go it was pretty average. We were seated under the air con and it was freezing! We asked if it could be turned down or if we could move and although there were plenty of free tables; non with reserved signs we got told there was nothing they could do about it. It being winter I would have thought there would be more hot food, the only hot vegetables were roast potato, peas and kumara all the tomatoes, beans extra were on the cold salad bar and everything was covered in mayonnaise. 'mains' were extremely limited 3 or four things; no seafood and the pork was tough and dry (I actually initially thought it was brown bread when I saw it on my partners plate). The dessert bar was ok, cheese cake was good, my favorite thing about the whole buffet was actually the bread selection, it had little white soup roles with herbs and seeds, crusty ciabatta and a delicious seeded brown grain bread, you then have a selection of lovely oils, balsamic vinegar, dukkah and kumara soup to have with it. The staff were nice but if the bread is the best part of the meal I don't think I will be back.
Raffi
Came here with a friend and value for money so not as great as what was on offer. Options where decent, but was expecting more based on what I've heard and read however the staff were very nice and attentive.<br/>In terms of food it was tasty, but the pork was very chewy and tough and ham had lots of fat on it. Chicken was a bit on the dry side but nice and had to wait at times for more to come out.<br/>Dessert was excellent. There was plenty of options on offer and was very delicious. It was a Wednesday night so not very busy which allowed easier movement around and food didn't run out. I would visit again if price was lowered of food improved in terms of quality and variety

i had been meaning to try this place for some time now, so after deciding to try it which we did, i now wish i hadn't. I guess my expectations on this place were high seeing as though it is part of the Casino, which i should have guessed it is after all just a buffet, we found a very very limited buffet offering for lunch with more salads and things than meats the dessert buffet was also very limited as well. i guess this place is really a pompous version of Valentines!
Kerensa Robertson
The worst meal ever. Worth negative stars only, Can't believe how bad it was. Nothing was nice, there was hardly any food and it was all terrible. <br/>The salads had few condiments and ingredients, the sushi looked old and stale. <br/>I don't eat ham so there was no carvery and no meat for me. At all. <br/>The roast potatoes were undercooked. The fish was all batter. The sauces tasted stale. The only edible item was soup.<br/>There were very few deserts and no cheeses as they don't top the buffet up. I got a square of cut supermarket style lamination and that was it.<br/>I went with a vegetarian and she paid $40 for a salad and crackers as there was nothing appropriate and nobody seemed to know what the stock used in the soups were. <br/>In addition, the restaurant was overheated and very noisy. <br/>We booked in advance a large party and they didn't even seat us together or push tables together. Then they charged the full price, not just the deposit as two people cancelled. They were told of this in advance but 'didn't have a record.' So we paid $80 for two people who cancelled in advance. <br/>They clearly don't ever expect repeat business so are happy to rip customers off and provide no service. <br/>Appalling - the worst place I have ever been to in Auckland.
Daffy
Very good. We went for a buffet lunch, friendly staff, soup was yummy. Main, dessert, tea were all great. Worth the money.

Service was very nice, unfortunately that's where it ends.<br/><br/>The food was absolutely disappointing, at $39.90 a head I did not expect to find the poor quality and supermarket bought stuff served up still their plastic tubs.<br/><br/>The meat was all overcooked, the sliced ham looked like it was cut with a chain saw, the pork belly was ok except you could not chew the skin it was like rough leather.<br/><br/>All of the seafood was so disappointing also, mussels and prawns dry, shrimps drowned in sauce no oysters what so ever. <br/><br/>Vegetables, cubed and deep fried I will never return, I was hopping the food had improved from my last visit but it has gotten worse.<br/><br/>I would put this as one of the worst food experiences I have had. I would love to see what Gordon Ramsey would say.

Went for the buffet lunch. Had a reasonably good experience! The soup was yummy, and there was a wide range of options for the mains. It would have been nice to have a couple more vegetarian options, however that's just me! Dessert was amazing and the free teas and coffees were great. Everything was kept well stocked. Definitely worth it if you feel like a massive feed!

Always lots of Variety, great service, great for all ages &amp; diet types. The go to place for a family of difficult eaters. I have eaten here many times including my graduation lunch, Birthday dinners, celebrations &amp; just a night out. Each time the food slightly changes but the quality does not. Well done Sky city.

I don't understand how someone can have a bad experience of this place as I have had the following:<br/><br/>* 3-4 breakfasts<br/>* 2 lunches (21st birthday and small family gathering)<br/>* Special Birthday Lunch<br/><br/>Just recently had breakfast with 4 other friends and were greeted from entry through to exit. The selection on the buffet breakfast/lunch menu was great value for money - we were definitely satisfied. It was a great way to end a weekend with the girls in Auckland CBD! xx

Very friendly staff<br/>The food was cold and like a cafiteria ! <br/>Never ever go back! Unless your desperate and have no other choices ...! Not a local place at all just for the tour groups ...

Went there last week for my friend's birthday, when we arrived the staff seemed nice except for the one that took us to our table. She seemed like she just doesn't enjoy working there. At first she was confused when we said we have one more person coming later on, then she took us to the wrong table and said we need to move to the other side. As we told her again about the other person coming later, she said o it's fully booked tonight so you probably won't be able to move to a bigger table. Well, that's ok for us, just bring us an extra seat, we don't mind being all squished up. <br/><br/>An hour into the dinner, one of the staff came to have a look at the ticket that were given to us at the beginning to check something, then he spoke to my friend (who planned this dinner) and said that there's another group of people waiting for this table. My friend was shocked and said "um, you didn't tell us at the beginning about time limit" the guy looked lost and said "ok, wait I will go check" then 10 mins later, another guy came (I believe it's the manager) and said pretty much what the first guy said, but this time my friend was pissed off and repeated what she said about time limit, so in the end the guy was just like "ok, how much longer do you think you need, and we all looked at each other and said like 10-15 mins, at least let us finish our desserts. Talk about bad communication there, if they informed us in the beginning then we would be more than happy to stick to the time.<br/><br/>Food was average, selection of bread, two different types of soap (pumpkin and tomato), salads, roast chicken, ham, pasta, deep fried fish bites, corn chips with salsa to go with. Dessert was average as well, chocolate cake, ice cream, lemon meringue, custard. Price wise - yeah, bit pricey for me as I'm a student. Would go back on a "not so busy" day perhaps.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our buffet lunch today at Fortuna.<br/><br/>There was a huge variety, and dishes were very tasty.<br/><br/>Standouts for me included the beautifully flavoured curried Kumara soup; and a plate of Mexican that I put together, with lush tomato salsa, a thin avocado enhanced lime-cream, chilli con carne, grated cheese, etc. I also really enjoyed the salad selection - including the fresh feta, tomato, cucumber, and black olive greek salad; and a Vietnamese lemongrass infused chilled noodle dish.<br/><br/>My partner really enjoyed a selection of meats, like ham from the carvery, and we both loved the roasted veges (the big thick chunks of sweet roasted carrot were great!) The beef stroganoff had a delicious flavor, with sumptuous mini-button mushrooms and loads of nicely seasoned sauce.<br/><br/>My theory with buffets, is that the great value is in the sheer variety and quantity, and it pays to take time to make multiple trips and use the sauces and condiments creatively to make sure you end up with great flavor combinations on your plate... and not a jumble of cuisines flooding one on top of the other!<br/><br/>I also liked assembling a Japanese combo, where I used some of the 'sushi rice', and poured soy sauce over some smoked fish on top, and sprinkled with lots of yummy dried seaweed strands and some pickled ginger.<br/><br/>Desserts were excellent - with the best part for me, being the sweet and tangy cooled sauce of beautiful giant cherries &amp; plums. The perfect sourness of it cut through the richness of all the other delicious desserts (like the chocolate iced mudcake, the shaved-choc-sprinkled chocolate mousse, the pavlova, and all the other yummy things).<br/><br/>One point for improvement, is the time it took to refill the icecream machine (it was probably only 10 minutes... but it felt like a long time, and I was full of other yummy stuff by the time it came out...) - but mainly, perhaps they could put a sign on the machine while it's being refilled? As there was general confusion amongst us patrons as we tried to fiddle with knobs and things on the machine to get it to work (ha ha!) when another kind patron mentioned that the usual handle was not there because it had been taken away to be refilled.)<br/><br/>Anyway, Staff were very pleasant, and the young lady who seated us was particularly accommodating in letting us shift seats so we could sit in a quieter and sunnier spot (she went to the trouble of re-issuing our till docket so we could do that - Thanks!).<br/><br/>Altogether, we were delighted with our choice to come here :)

I have been many times to the buffet and it just keeps getting worse and worse. The service at Fortuna is a joke and the price is terrible. They used to have a great buffet when it was downstairs with oysters and much more and better selection. They have become very greedy and sloppy with their service and quality of food. There is no way anyone can eat the amount of food they charge for. We stay at the Grand Hotel really often and we have decided not to go to the buffet any more since they closed the Observatory buffet upstairs. Even it was grossly overpriced but the food was very good. Don't waste your time and money going to Fortuna as you will be very dissappointed. Thank you, Jim and Rosie

Hands down the most disgusting experience I have ever had in my life, they literally ruined my birthday. This is a warning to anybody that is considering going to this restaurant.<br/><br/>Starting about 3 weeks ago I decided that I wanted to go to dinner for my 18th birthday as I am not the typical 'party animal' and more of an academic. I was extremely excited to go out for the first time, get a drink for the first time and have a nice dinner with my friends. <br/><br/>Walking through the Sky-City hotel got us really excited as well as everything was quite flash and we thought we would be in for quite a flash restaurant... We were so mistaken. <br/><br/>When we got there we got a receipt and opposed to a nice greeting the lady at the front wrote a big '9PM' on the receipt and said that this was the time we had to be out by. <br/><br/>13 of us went and sat down and me and another 18 year old friend got a drink (quite expensive too I might add- but hey, it was my first so I wasn't worrying about price too much. Also, can I add that we weren't even asked for ID) Then we sat down, I got a cold Kumara soup and some stale bread to dip into it- I was optimistic that it would get better, then the staff came along. <br/><br/>As soon as we walked in the manager started spying on us (which, she later admits) and some of the other staff (exception of a really nice lady who was a waitress there) were just plain rude. I asked for some cutlery to go with my next serving of lamb shank and cold roasted potatoes. The waiter said "over there near the buffet". When you pay nearly $40 a head you would expect them to be kind enough to get you cutlery... I mean, come on!<br/><br/>Then the real stuff went down, one of my friends (who did not have an ID on them) took a sip of my drink because, well, she just wanted to try it. We then got the spying manager scoot over and ask for ID, on failure to show her ID the manager asked all 13 of us to leave. She then toned it down and said that only my friend needed to leave. The tables surrounding came up to me and told me that they felt really bad and that the whole thing was a joke but this lady had ruined my eighteenth birthday at this stage and none of my friends really wanted to move because of fear of the staff. <br/><br/>The food was awful, dried out and minimal. The drinks were overpriced and the staff were, generally horrible. I don't usually write reviews and have never written a bad one in my life but it takes a lot to get me down and this place did just that. <br/><br/>Please, never go there! You will thank me for this very long, long review!

Went here with friends before Christmas and staff were friendly and overall experience was much better than expected. Only downside for us was the place was packed, very hard to get through the tables carrying plates of food and lots of dishes were empty on the buffet as there were so many people there. Food itself was good and was perfect for catching up with friends in a nice but not too formal atmosphere.

Surprisingly good!<br/><br/>The pasta dishes were exceptional. The guiness pie was delicious with a nice crust and there was a great variety of salads and other cold dishes. <br/><br/>Service was efficient and place was clean.<br/><br/>Would definitely go again.

This place has improved from 3-4 years ago. However it still feels like a slightly upgraded version of Valentines...which I am personally not a great big fan of...<br/><br/>Standard NZ buffet food, eg. chowders fisha and chips roast food mussels etc...Not special spices or sauces... <br/><br/>Good place to try meet some rugby players scoffing down food :)<br/><br/>Recommend The Observatory Restaurant if you are thinking of something more special.<br/><br/>Service: 3/5<br/>Wait time: 5/5<br/>Environment: 3/5<br/>Food Quality and taste: 1/5<br/>Price range: $30+ pp

Boring array of food with average flavors, though none of them tasted bad. The roast was dry and flavorless. Don't expect much seafood. If you re bulking for the season and looking for value for your money, by all means come here. Otherwise i would not commend. <br/>One of the things i can highly commend though is their Panna Cotta, definitely one of the best i have had, silky delicious smooth with real vanilla bean and liquor aftertaste, I had six of these baby. Other deserts were not too shabby as well, much better than other "premium" buffets or high class restaurants in my humble opinion. They did serve seasonal fresh (uncut) fruits too, which was a lovely change.

my gosh the make over at fortuna was so worth it<br/>I'm glad they reviewed their menu too because the night we dined was really good. <br/>#1-Food is excellent for $$. oysters were lovely and fresh but a tiny bit gritty still, everything i tried was lovely except dessert, maybe we didn't get all the options that night cause it was very basic, fruit pudding,Pavlova, choc mousse, something strange & unnamed in a shot glass, wasn't good.<br/>the decor is lovely.

Wow have things improved here.<br/>Not been back for years and now next weekend will see us dine for the third time in two months. One lunch that was really good . Love the included soft drinks.<br/>Great variety and quality of food at all times.<br/>Variety of soups could improve two out of two vegetable types is boring.<br/>Cookies with coffee are great if still warm.

Fortuna is a great place for a buffet. <br/><br/>The food was great, it is good that the non alcoholic drinks including coffee and tea were free and the dessert was sweet.<br/><br/>The 1 thing I would like to say is that after having a couple plates of food and them building up on the table they never got picked up and I had to actually ask one of the waitresses to take them from our table. It wasn't very busy either last night (Sunday 30th Sept) so would of expected them to come round a lot more often and check if any dirty plates need to be taken away. Other wise the place looks great after the re-vamp but maybe the service needs to be looked at.<br/><br/>Thanks
Charlie
I don't really have anything bad to say about this restaurant. we dined here with a group of our friends and my workmates and it didn't disappoint. food was never short as they kept topping it up. a true kiwi menu as it draws inspirations from everywhere which is what represents new zealand these days. everything was up to the standard and the setting was great. I have been here before and will definitely be coming back more often now

In terms of value for money - this is the place to go! I had a buffet breakfast there with 4 mates and ate my weight in delicious breakfast goodness. The highlight? the pastries and eggs benedict with bacon. The low? I would have liked to see some banana and avacado on the menu but for $29.90 i really can't complain. The service was fantastic and the food fresh. A winner in my books.

I got sick of the old Fortuna food and set up but since the new Fortuna has opened, I am really happy with the changes, the food was excellent and I loved the home made pizza. It was made on crusty bread, so tasty, I love these two for one deals, it makes it a cheap lunch.<br/>The only bad point was having to wait outside for the doors to open, they were late opening up and when you got old people having to stand with bad knees it's a hassle.

Fortuna is a restaurant our family goes to a lot when we're in Auckland. Its a really nice and it's always got something you want.<br/><br/>I like the service, the environment and the amount of seating it has.<br/><br/>The food is great fun.

Went there last year. Food was yum. The chef made my sister her own fresh cooked fish because she has allergies to lots of foods. Going again soon. :)

I have been here quite a few times with family and friends. Some days it would be packed bt I found that if you go after 8pm you won't end up standing in a line queue. However the price is ridiculously expensive I guess the view and surrounding must count for it. With their breads their was a dead insect in their so we stayed well away from it. They have oysters which is what I like their food are delicious but I like their desert especially the choc mousse in the lil cup. They always have two soups on but Im not a soup person I love the pasta.

OK, unlike your usual run at Valentines (needless to say they are so overated now!!!), Fortuna does have a nice, and I mean NICE (not perfect) selection of food... I wont say I dined there as this would be killing it for those fancy people who eat at flash restaurants but I did eat there with my partner, sister and her partner. The seafood was.... well yes they did have it. The OTHER selection of food was nice aswell... I loved the Ice Cream machine which brought back nightmares of working in my sisters cafe truck shop (that's a good thing), ohh or the runny soup like stuff i got from another ice cream machine at another family buffet restaurant - you don't need to be a genuis to figure that one out... Overall a nice place if you want to eat and chat loudly over a meal with friends or family...

Really loved Fortuna. The food was nice and hot. If people go I recommend you go on a Sunday because the seafood special is really worth the price. Something I like about this buffet. The atmosphere is nice and modern unlike other buffets , Ive been to VIP Valentines. The food was the best. SO much desserts to choose from the salad bar and even the Hot Chocolate machine although it was a bit to rich and I had to add some milk onto it. The 2 soups, Potato soup I think and the Broccoli. Really good soups I ended up hogging the soups haha
Sara
Went here last night for my daughters 21st. Would NEVER go here again. Waited in line for 25mins to find only 7 main meals and it was mostly fried food. No one went back for seconds because we didnt want to wait that long in line again. Not a variety of desserts and all the kids could eat was ice cream. Overall a massive waste of money. Then they tried to charge me $7.50 each for two peaople that didnt turn up.<br/>You can pay less and get more basic variety of food from Valentines...

I dined in fortuna over the weekend and have not been able to stop thinking about my experience there.<br/>The staff were so friendly and helpful, it is nice to see people who are generally happy to be providing you with service. The food was ok, a lot better than I was expecting, and very reasonably priced.

We have been to Fortuna many times and are always very impressed.<br/>The food is amazing, always fresh and it changes every now and then with the seasonal menu.<br/>I'm pretty sure you could not find a quality buffet meal with 3 courses (always 2 delicious freshly made soups) and a fantastic cheese plate with the range of selection that fortuna has for the price it offers. Plus the unique DIY salad station is such a great idea.<br/>We have been to valentines in the past and have been utterly disgusted by the food they have on offer and would never dine with them again. So if you are looking for a very reasonably priced buffet in auckland Fortuna should definitely be your pick. Food is great, staff are friendly and helpful and you will have an awesome time.
Ryan Judd
Quality is always fine the the price is good, been here a heap of times before and always come away happy.

The food at Fortuna is pretty basic - most of it originally seeming to come from a packet. I was here just a week ago, and saw the chef making the mashed potato from a packet of potato flakes... that's a typical example.<br/><br/>Valentines is definitely a better option for similar money. In fact, almost any buffet anywhere in Auckland is probably better value in terms of food quality. <br/><br/>I can speak highly of the Seafood Buffet (which has plenty of non-seafood items too) in the Observatory restaurant in the SkyTower - that's about $50 a head for dinner, but the view and overall food quality make it good value for money.<br/><br/>Fortuna pales in comparison. Saying that they have a very cheap lunch deal for $9.98, and a cheap 5pm-6.30pm buffet dinner for $14.98 until the end of June - phone 0800 skycity to book (essential). This price promotion makes the buffet actually very good value... but only on this temporary basis.<br/><br/>Why have they reduced / almost halved the prices? Probably because the reputation is so poor -because we're all sick of the packet type buffet fare... maybe this latest promotion is a chance to make things better.<br/><br/>Watch this space!
RB
Food is ok nothing special at all, as I would expect better from this place, food at Valentines Lincoln Rd has far greater variety same quality for the same price....Come on Fortuna
Vicki
Top service. Food is always lovely. My nephew is allergic to dairy and the chef even made him his own special dairy free meal!

I went here last night for my bestfriend's pre-birthday dinner celebration with few close friends. I couldn't comment much because the food choices was okay, not too bad for an affordable ($34) buffet set. The good thing is it's located in Sky City with a very classy and cozy atmosphere.<br/><br/>We've booked around 8.30 pm and the food, especially desserts almost run out and they don't seem to bother refilling it unless you ask them to. Ordinary food tastes but employees are well accommodating.

– Not quite poor<br/><br/>Now I have to admit, I am not a fan of Buffets so I am trying to be as fair as I can. Personally, I find buffets a concern, all that food mixed together, it can’t be good. Anyway, as far as buffet places go, this was pretty average. Firstly, the seafood. All you can eat oysters, whole, cold prawns still with their beady eyes staring at you, tiny shrimp swamped in thousand island sauce. That is pretty much my seafood nightmare! I dislike oysters but understand that some people like to swallow large lumps of slime whilst holding their nose and trying not to gag. Prawns need attention, show them a little bit more respect. Perhaps, you know, cook them or something! And the poor little shrimp! Dislike thousand island dressing, shrimps can be done in other ways, I know it’s a buffet but honestly. It’s all very generic. I don’t understand why all the seafood was cold. Salads were pretty good as was some of the hot food. Actually quite liked the roast veges and lamb. Not impressed with desserts, some were average, others were disappointing. Chocolate mouse was too rich, pastry on lemon meringue was soggy, and for heavens sake, there is no place for coconut in cheesecake! Overall at $29.99 you could call it value for money, I guess?
Bo
Great buffet, plenty of choices of seafood and other things. Food were fresh and tasty. Price is reasonable consider you get unlimited amount of seafood such as prawns and oysters. Good place for special occasion or gathering. Cheaper parking at sky city if you dine here, which is a bonus. Very satisfying.

Great buffet with different variety of cuisine , good service , must visit at once with family , complete family restaurant , you gonna like it and very affordable .

Bit disappointed because the food was just too ordinary and nothing so special about their dishes..

Went there for my partners bd, we love buffet, and I thought it would be great to Hv a bd meal in sky city, but... We didn't enjoy it at all. The food quality was so so, the taste was normally, there was nothing I like in particular at all. It was a buffet but I only took a little bit of everything, cuz non of them make me want to fill up for more. We booked a table for 4 by the window. When we got there, the restaurant was empty. We were show to a far corner table. I asked if we could have a table by the window, the staff said they booked us on this table (sound like 'you can't move cuz you will give me more job to do', so my sister said lets just take this one, so i didn't bother arguing. We ended up tried little bit of everything, but left over almost all of everything. Non of us happy with the meal :-( feel so sorry for my sister and her bf to join the bad dinner, I shouldnt choose to celebrate bd here. Wouldn't go back even thou it's 50%off

Sometimes you just wanna go to the buffet. Seeing as Valentines has long passed its best by date, and I hate leaving my neighbourhood, Fortuna is a fairly decent option.<br/><br/>They have a bar, which is A+, and their range of food is diverse and crowd pleasing. The desserts section is particularly excellent, featuring small portions of a number of lovely options: mousse, jelly, lemon meringue pie, cheese cake, and more.<br/><br/>The staff are particularly helpful, professional, and vigilant.<br/><br/>Downsides: $25 pp isn't cheap when you're a group; Skycity parking costs suck; the food isn't anything out of the ordinary; one bill per table; no outside cakes; only 1.5 hour slots allowed.

Went here for lunch once and loved the atmosphere, food and their cleanliness of the entire place! I mean, everything was just about immaculate - the food was very delicious! There was a range of dishes you could choose from, from European to Chinese and even some seafood!<br/><br/>As you can probably see from most of my reviews, we love to go to buffet restaurants, and this has been my favourite Value-for-money buffet restaurant so far!
