Review Ben & Jerry's - Auckland Central

Dan H
Ben and Jerry’s is ice cream haven and never disappoints. The hardest decision? Picking just one scoop.
Sarahlee Russell
We brought our student in to the city for dinner and thought this would be an excellent way to top of the night. The prices are as expected but still cheaper than a restaurant desert and more fun! The guy that served us was patient and friendly and I would definitely go there again. The only thing was the lack of atmosphere, and it was hot so we wanted to sit outside but to be fair it was just grotty on the street so we left. I wish they had more effort put in with planting and seating like further up at Ponsonby Central, it always amazes me how Ponsonby is so "Posh" but so "rough" in daylight.

#special ice cream# ice cream mixed lots of stuff, walnut、peanut、cake or caramel, you will be hard to choose one, because everyone is different~ new York super fudge and coffee bizzee are my favourate~

Great flavours, good helpful people. Pretty expensive for ice cream but then again what isn't expensive.. 😫 will go back for an occasion but the price makes it something special rather than something to do on the regular.

Expansive range of freshly made ice creams!! Try out the flavors for free. Can also take away tubs of ice cream a pint each and is $13. Friendly and helpful team members. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Open till late every day. Check out their whole story on the walls and how they got here!

Sugar Heaven some of the best ice cream in Auckland comes from this brand. the shop is great it has seating altho not much, lots and lots of flavours to choose from as well as milkshakes ,Sunday's dessert style option like waffles. they also have takeaway ice cream cakes. , seems to be consistently busy every time I have been here

First time I have had a chocolate overdose in my life. Small fitness intensive therapy and I'm still alive. Recommend it!

The toughest decision here is trying to choose which flavour. I love all the crazy names they use too. What more can I say. You just have to try the ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s because they are an institution.

Took my bebes here on a Saturday evening for a treat and it was great. Sadly parking is terrible but service and the treats were worth it! Happy faces!
Faiz Dholkawala
Amazing range of ice cream choice. I love all the dough based flavours - the cookie dough, the tonight dough, etc. The sweet cookies and cream is good too. A single scoop is large enough. Especially if had in one their amazing chocolate based cones.

Usually stop by here when I'm in the area and wanting something sweet. Nice variety of flavours and number of choices on what you want your ice cream in - cup, cone or special cone. They also have other goodies like ice cream cakes and sundaes. What is really nice is that they sometime have a free scoop day. When I last ordered a sundae it came with a shovel for a spoon with a $5 off the next sundae voucher. Don't need much convincing to go back.

What's not to like about Ben and Jerry's ice cream? A good selection of flavours, which you can sample pre purchase. I opted for 2 scoops in a dish - Chunky Monkey ( all time favourite) and mint chocolate. Heavenly! Totally worth the nearly $9. Great to sit outside and watch the world go by on Ponsonby Road, as you enjoy your creamy treat. 😋

Best icecream spot..staff is always kind and happy.. Enjoyed our summer treat.. Should open one outlet in Northshore too.

Great ice cream shop. It’s a challenge what flavour to choose. But they are all wonderful. I wish they had coffee coffee buzz buzz and mint chocolate chunk in a pint though. Can be quite full at times and hard to find seats as there are only a few.

Located in one of the best neighborhoods in the city. The servers are very friendly and helpful. Very clean place. The ice cream is very tasty ... really made with a lot of nurturing. For a hot day is a great request. I recommend it to everyone. Until the next staff !! ** parking is easy **

Many kinds of flavor, full of people~~~taste nature and smell good

Excellent ice cream experience every single time.

Can’t you wrong with the half baked cookie dough! Enough said..
Persian Foodie
Generous scoops of ice cream with chunky bits of actual cookie and dough. Loved the chocolate coated waffle cones. Found that a lot of the ice cream colors were the same so I didn’t know which one was which and when you get double scoops sometimes the chocolate flavors are so overpowering that the other flavors become mixed.
Loved the chocolate fudge brownie, mint chocolate chunk and strawberry cheesecake but also got totally baked, phish food, the tonight dough and chunky monkey.
The Poor Foodie
This place is crazily busy during these festive period because everyone who comes to ponsonby for Christmas lights comes for icecream! Got the New York Super Fudge Chunk and it was absolutely amazing - The choco was so rich. Also tried the cookie dough and strawberry cheesecake from my friend’s cups and they both were awesome
Chan Can Eat
Like seriously, who does not like Ben and Jerry’s. Actually I do know one weirdo that claims they’re too sweet! These are definitely the beat value scoops in town, the flavour, the milk quality the chunks of flavour and goodness! De-lish!
They also do uber eats which is very VERY dangerous

As an icecream-addict, this place is a heaven for me. They have variety of wonder-flavours, and my favourite are Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Chocolate Fudge Brownie. I like how there are brownie bits and cookie dough in the icecream which adds different textures and actually something to bite and chew on.

Came by yesterday after dinner with the kids and almost racist. One of the staff was very rude, but another took over and helped us out. Otherwise we usually love Ben and Jerry’s because their sundaes are delicious!

Service: 2/5
Environment: 4/5
Presentation: 4/5
Food Quality: 4/5
Food Quantity: 4/5
Price per person: $10

Have a sweet tooth always craving for dessert. Nice ice cream, Phish Food is my favourite. Love the dark chocolate taste and also the chocolate fish. Will visit again soon!

We have our fair share of travel and saw Ben and Jerry’s in Brisbane, Los Angeles and even in Berlin but never fancied trying them on those locations, must be because we are too busy sightseeing and never had bothered having a scoop of this until now. Ben and Jerry’s finally arrived here in New Zealand just recently, in fact on December 2015 they opened their first shop in Ponsonby. We were quite late on trying it out as we had our first scoop somewhere in January.

Came here last weekend and highly enjoyed it. Service was really good as well. Love coming to Ben n Jerry’s so much because they always have way more unique flavours unlike all the other ice cream places. One thing i didn’t quite enjoy was the fact that the table we were sitting at wasn’t cleaned 🥴. Recommend highly still.

My favorite icecream shop in Auckland!!!! Love their mint choc ice-cream so so much. Always a place for us to go whenever we have a walk along lively ponsonby road. It's just so good here. Cannot say anything else. Who doesn't love ice-cream, right? 🍦🍦🍦

Ben & Jerry's never fails, always consistent, and a delectable delight :) Perfectly situated in Ponsonby, it make for an excellent dessert spot after dinner.

Great service really tops off the full experience :)

Probably my favourite ice cream place in Auckland ☑️

The flavors are delicious.

I always either get the brownie special sundae or the cherry Garcia and both desserts are mouth watering.

Staff are friendly and overall a nice vibe.

Whenever I get visitors from overseas I make sure I take them to #Ben&Jerrys 🍦

Think all they need to do now is open a bigger restaurant with more seating 😊.

Ambience : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Staff : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Price : ⭐⭐⭐

Chocolate therapy and chocolate fudge brownie on waffle cone.. best one i ever tried, the chocolate is so yummy and addicting.. i wish i can eat this forever
_foodfanatic
The moment you walk in you have an amazing smell of brownies. The service was good and friendly. The dairy free option was amazing just tasted like normal ice-cream and had a lot of flavour. The portion is very generous compared to other ice cream shops that give half the scoop for more money
Steamed Hams
Ben & Jerry's is great on a hot sunny day. I decided to go with Brownie Batter and Cookies and cream. The Brownie Batter had chunks of brownie in it. The Cookies and cream had chunks of Oreo in it. Both of the flavours were equally delicious. The place was beautifully decorated with neon signs and screens.

How can one complain about Been & Jerry's? Even though the line was quiet long it didn't take long to get served, these guys are fast (from my experience) and the ice-cream is delicious! A bit pricey for a family of four but definitely worth it!
Diner8Here
Had the cookie cookie sundae here which is sandwich between 2 cookies and topped with whipped creme too. I had the pepper mint flavored one and 1 other I cannot remember but was quite a generous serving too in which i can't finish and is the worth $10.90 rate.

Enter at your own peril...oh the smell...freshly baked brownies! Good selection but not all the flavors you get from overseas. Great friendly staff. Took home a tub!
Dani
They deliver a great range of ice creams and dessert options but quite pricey. In saying that, I still come here every so often and am never disappointed with the quality of ice cream-which makes up for the priceyness and the prompt service-real friendly staff. Such a nice store and location but wish they had more sorbet options-though understandable as it is a store dedicated to ice creams.
Angela
I love love love ben and Jerry’s so much!!!! Their strawberry cheesecake and cookie dough is to DIE for! Service is always prompt, atmosphere and location is excellent and the ice cream tastes even better. They also often do free scoop days so it’s fun to try it out as it is on the pricier side of ice cream (you get your money’s worth though)
S&G Take Auckland
Nice location and staff with a lot of choice. Pricing is about the same as movenpick but I still prefer my macadamia dulces .... totally baked was pretty yummo

4.5/5 Taste
4/5 Display
4/5 Quantity
4/5 Customer Service

Best Ice cream shop in New Zealand

Good rich texture, decent range of flavours, very friendly customer service, decent portion of scoop.
Strawberry cheesecake was my personal favourite, thought these ice cream shops were over priced but ive tried alot of different shops and supermarket ice creams gave me a clear conclusion that these ice creams are decent investments.
Gastrophilist
It's over-hyped. Not bad at all and is yummy but for the price you pay, you can get much larger quantities elsewhere. Service is quick and options are aplenty. But really not worth spending that much.
Food.review.nz
Decent ice cream with super friendly staff. Would definitely ask for a cup next time as the Oreo cone was a bit messy and super crumbly. The inside of the cone is also coated with chocolate which was a bit too sweet for my liking.

They have really unique flavours that you can't find in a normal ice cream shop. Definitely worth the trip down however the Sylvia Park branch might be easier in terms of parking as Ponsonby gets quite crowded at night.

If in doubt, you can always buy a pint to take home and just enjoy in the comfort of your own home with friends and family.

Food 6.5/10
Service 7/10
Ambience 6.5/10
Price 6/10

It is one of the best ice creams I have had. It was perfect. The chocolate therapy is a piece of art. It was breathtakingly tasty. It caught me off guard. The staff were exceptionally friendly as well. It was a wonderful dessert.

Wish the ice cream could be cheaper but that doesnt stop me. Great flavours. Sometimes the line can be a pain. They need a bigger shop. Hopefully soon.
Crackerjacker
They really do have amazing ice cream, however te prices are not ideal. The reason for the high prices is because of the values they have helping others. I always go along to the free cone days, haven’t missed one in a while
Riley
Although pricey very yummy treat.
Sundaes are a hit if you can avoid a long line. Variety is great. Have had some sour mood workers dish very small scoops but generally friendly

Came here today to buy ice-cream cake. Was very disgusted with the sudden drop in customer service standard.
Firstly, The Ice cream cake display was just infront of the entrance, so it doesn’t make sense for your staff asking me to come to the counter, and then walking back to the ice-cream cake display when your shop floor is empty and your staffs are just standing there like a statue. (might as well hire a robot).
Secondly, There was a sign that says “for sale” beside the ice-cream cake but the staff made me wait for a long time because she had to ask the “hiding” manager....before telling me its not for sale. Complete blunder I suppose.

So thats it Ben and Jerry Ponsonby. I used to love getting ice-cream from you, but it seems that your customer service standard has fallen to an unacceptable level. I don’t think I’ll come back anymore.... I highly recommend people to avoid this place and go somewhere else where they treat customer with respect...
Waiwera
Nice place. Pricing is reasonable. But so it should be after wasting the best part of half an hour to get served. Only ever seems to be one staff member on the serving counter and they need to limit how many ice creams people can try because it just prolongs other people getting served.
Sheena Singh
The most impressive ice creams Ive ever seen. The kids beg nearly every day to go back. Pricing is quite high but the quality is great!!!!!!
Jason Young
I visit the popup in Takapuna regularly, opposite the beach is ideal in the summer! It's also a bit cheaper than Movenpick, some say it's a bit on the sweet side but I enjoy the chunky bits.

Was in Aussie recently and I noticed they had more flavours.
Jason Zhang
Came here after seeing the Xmas decorations on Franklin road. The line was really long as usual on a Saturday night but their service was really fast and efficient, so the line moves on very quickly.
The chocolate fudge brownie had just the right sweet flavor and had a bit of a dark chocolate taste in it. Would recommend.

Taste - 9/10
Price - 9/10

Anna Wei

My favourite ice cream shop hands down always clean fast service even during the peak times and everyone is so friendly and helpful when you are choosing your flavours

Really friendly staff on, yummy flavours , massive scoops 😁 very happy with our late night treat, bonus being able to try as many different flavours as I wanted 😊

When in Ponsonby grabbing a scoop at Ben & Jerry's is a must. We felt like having an aftermeal treat and they have so many flavours to choose from. The staff are chirpy and bubbly and the place has a casual vibe. You definitely don't and shouldn't feel any guilt for being that person who tries a bunch of flavours as all the flavours are tasty.

I ended getting a scoop of the Berry Berry Extraordinary, it was the only vegan option on the menu. They do offer toppings such as chopped nuts, sprinkles and chocolate chips but I opted out as they didn't suit the sorbet. The sorbet was delicious, probably the best sorbet I've tried. It was juicy, sweet with a nice tartness to balance it out. I loved the combination of blueberry and raspberry in the sorbet which made it taste unlike a regular berry sorbet.

My friends also loved their icecreams and devoured 2 pints (943ml) of Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Frozen Flakes between them 3. INSANE!
Mocha
Ordered Ben & Jerry's through UberEats last weekend, who knew you could get ice cream delivered?
We got a combo that was supposed to include brownies, but they didnt give us brownies.
Anyway, first time trying Ben and Jerry's. The ice cream itself is amazing, i really love the chunky chocolate flavour and strawberry cheesecake!♡
Dxlche
I love their chocolate ice cream flavours!! They have so many chocolate based ones to choose from and they are all really rich and decadent.
It is pricy if you want to get a fancy cone but the whole experience is pretty worth. If you can’t decide on a flavour just ask to try some and they will gladly offer you a small spoonful.
Definitely visit this place after a Ponsonby dinner for a dessert.

We love Ben & Jerry's! Had 2 scoops of the 'The Tonight Dough starring Jimmy Fallon' and Coffee. The Jimmy Fallon one is a must try. Nice chocolate and caramel ice creams with chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter cookie dough and a crunchy chocolate cookie. New favourite to visit this great ice cream place again and again :)
EAT Girl 👑
My favourite is the Chunky Monkey. First tasted this in Australia, then found out they gotta have in New Zealand. Queuing is okay, because their ice cream is too good :)

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't love Ben & Jerry's. If you haven't already tried Phish Food and The Jimmy Fallon (I can't remember the actual name - it's the one with peanut butter) flavour, I honestly have no clue what you're waiting for!

This outlet has super friendly staff and has an adorable seating area!

A hub of genuinely yummilicious ice-creams in town.. Ice-creams here satisfies every bit of your tastebuds.. staff too is quite humble and doing a good job!! Its a must visit for us whenever we come to Auckland!!
Jeffie
Becoming a date night standard, we're making our way through the flavours but we always have the strawberry cheesecake as a staple, the berry nice is always good too. Service and ambience is standard, not a fan of how the line ends up in a bit of a u shape and you're not sure if people are in the line or not.

*Updated* - Popped in for strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone, the girl serving us was friendly and helpful, suggesting a scoop of cookies and cream as well.

*Updated* - Came in for a usual treat, tried their new "Chubby Hubby" flavour and it's good. We also had some of our favourite scoops as well.
Ravi
The staff here are friendly. There is a range of products choose from. If you are in a mood for trying something different, you can go here. There is also an option here on how you want to have it.

Following dinner with some delightful friends in Ponsonby, we scowered the streets, on a hunt for a worthy spot of dessert.

In the distance, a blurred white illuminated sign came into focus "Ben & Jerrys" it read. We turned and looked to each other. It was as if a spell had been cast upon us from the dessert gods and goddesses above. We unanomously all agreed in unison, this was the place we had been searching for. Call it what you will, fate or destiny, this was meant to be.

From outside, the place was rather empty, maybe two other guests dotted themselves around the store. I became apprehensive, could this really be the great place fate had guided us to?... Weary yet adventurous, I followed behind my friends, continuing to pursue our path to great destiny and dessert.

Upon placing one toe into the establishment, the head ice cream scoopiest turned around immediately and greeted us with a beautiful smile. She was simply radiant and offered us samples of each and every flavour we desired. My experience in this place was becoming rather warm and inviting. Perhaps the gods and goddesses were on to something here.

It was obvious this sublime woman prided herself in the company she endorsed. Her hair was neatly tucked into a bun inside a hairnet. Which was then extra protected from hair folical contamination with the coverage if a company cap. Not a single damn hair could escape into the ice cream. Her attire was extremely neat and tidy and the state of her bench ladies and gentleman, as shiny as a fresh 2017 $2.00 coin.

After observing her immaculate working conditions and appearance, it was time to order.

One of my friends had a terrible peanut allergy and voiced this to the lovely scooper. She replied that she would sanitise all equipment and scrape back all of the top layers of each ice cream flavour so that no cross contamination could harm my friend. My readers, I have never to this day, hand on heart, come into contact with such a beautiful and giving ice cream scooper. What a giving heart. What a thoughtful person, my experience was truly life changing. I tell you, I could not wipe the astonished/ completely amazed/ absolutely grateful look off my face by the humanity of this golden goddess of a woman.

After being served our ice creams, my friends and I moved to the large family table at the back end of the store. From here, I was able to truly understand the amazing hospitality of this young hero. The real Wonder Woman (as I will now refer to her as) was faced with a great challenge: a full line of hungry customers and being the only staff member in sight... Or so we thought..

From out the back, another staff member appeared and joined her in the ice cream scooping arena. He was extremely scruffy, hair out of hair net, shirt not tucked in and stained attire. His shabby appearance emerged in his ice cream scooping skill, as it rendered simply nill to hers. Wonder Woman's spoon soared through the chunky, creamy and crunchy ice cream choices of her customers. The larger the line accumulated, the faster and happier she became. Each customer walking away twice as happy as the last. She served the Ben & Jerrys institution with pride and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Unable to attain the real Wonder Woman's name, I beg of the readers of my message to spread the good word of my lovely lass. I entered this fine institution on a Tuesday evening around 7:30pm. She deserves the head ice cream scoopiest role if she has not yet been granted so and I demand a healthy pay rise and several days off- but not too many otherwise other future customers will not experience this new world of ice cream scooping hospitality I had experienced today.

Wonder Woman opened my eyes to what true ice cream scooping generiousity is. This hero provided my friends and I the most wonderful experience ever imagined in any said ice cream establishment.

She has truthfully, changed the game of ice cream scooping in the modern day. My life shan't ever be the same.

I am ever grateful for this night that the forces of both fate and destiny led my friends and I to this place of paradise and great joy. Alike to that of Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne, she conceals her cape behind that hair net and apron in plain sight, however, I will always know her true identity as the heroine of ice cream scooping, whom shall bring ever lasting peace to the world of ice cream serving and scooping. I pray one day she will impact not only the hearts of Auckland but the depths and breadths of this universe itself.

Goodbye for now,
A truly touched,

Spicy Girl.

The ice cream here is full of zest and flavour. We stopped in for some post breakfast num nums. Ben and Jerry's Ponsonby delivered the goods! Thanks team :)

You can't quite go wrong with ice creams. It's just the joy of putting a smile on everyone's face. So YAY to Ben & Jerry's!

Good selection of flavours and super awesome chocolate waffle cones.

P/s: Go for Peppermint if you're not after something overly sweet.

So perfect for a dessert on Saturday night out with friends.

I had a cookies&cream ice cream on choc-peanut cone. It's really good 💕

Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5

Cheers

I got the Cookie Cookie Sundae, which had Cookie pieces as well as 2 flavours of ice cream of my choice.
It doesn't look like it but it was actually a pretty big cup; roughly the height of a Venti at Starbucks, but wider in diameter.

The Cookie was crunchy yet moist on the inside, so the textures of the smoothness of the ice cream complimented each other really well! I got Cookie Affair and Strawberry Cheesecake for my flavours.
I actually managed to finish the entire cup in under 15 minutes, and it helped that it wasn't too sweet. Then again, my tolerance for sugar is pretty high so I wouldn't take my word for it if you're not that good with sugar...it's a pretty cute thing to share with someone else!

My favourite flavours would probably still have to be Caramel Crunch and Coffee Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz...more things to chew and crunch on!
Mizna Afzali
Ben and jerry's triple caramel chunk is my true love!! Like their friendly staff and service. The seating area is generously enough. We always get a couple of seats to sit and enjoy the icecream. The cone varieties are good with chocolate and nuts waffle cone being my favourite

I must say this place is awesome.i love the ice creams here. We have visited the place twice. Everytine anew flavour and it turns out to be good.will definately visit again.
Was passing through this way last night and thought it would be perfect for dessert. It wasn't as crowded as usual so that was nice not to wait. Decor is updated and bright, really good vibe here. Tried a couple of different options of ice cream (there is so many to choose from). My sister really liked the sorbet. We were all surprised by the serving size, it was generous. We also got 2 pints to takeaway. I had some coupons to use here and saved $22.60. Definitely will be coming back here.

Who has anything bad to say about this place. So many flavours, so many options. The icecream is so bloody good. Good place to come for dessert or just a seeet snack, just a bit busy sometimes with lines of people out the door. But that just proves how good it is.
Kaushikc_32
Excellent desert place. Have been here a couple of times. All the flavors are amazing, tried the new
chill-aco and it didnt disappoint. Cherry garcia and mint chocolate chunk are really amazing. Would surely come back here for more.

To be honest, I have been coming here every Friday for my icecream fix. They have many flavours to choose from ,and they are a well established brand in the U.S. You can sample some flavours if you are not sure what to buy, just ask there friendly staff.
They are always very busy, so may be a bit of a wait, but you wont be disappointed. My favorite flavours at the moment are Chunky Monkey 🐒 and Jimmy Fellon.
Pauline Abeleda
The ice cream was very good and the cone also. I reckon the price is worth it (only depends on what your getting).
The staff are very nice and everytime I go here I always leave very satisfied

Would recommend the Chocolate Fudge ice cream. I love the staff in here.
I mean COOKIE DOUGH ICE CREAM! Nothing bad to say at all for everyone's fave ice cream parlour. It does get busy so be patient with the queue on hot summer days or on Fri nights. Service is always with a smile despite the rush.
Eric Tan VersionTwo
Been here heaps of times, usually stick to my cookie dough or coconut icecreams but it's really busy at night and they're usually out of bananas by late evening. Ice cream is good though and plenty of selection. Personally I think 2 scoop cup is generally enough it always goes melty when I get 3 scoop. Service wise it could really be more efficient; it always comes across as chaotic when people are ordering.
Olivia Rucker-Macadam
Would of been great but female manager was treating staff rudely and seemed unapproachable and so we took our money elsewhere to purchase ice cream. Not too cool.
Tavita Milford
The best Ice Cream shop EVER! Had the two-scoop phish food and that texture though, so mouth watering. I just wanted to buy 1 scoop of all flavours, it was that good.
Jayden Campbell
Decided to sneak here on a Saturday night with some friends, we were lucky enough to get parking right outside the door because Ponsonby is a hive for all Aucklanders on the Weekend.

I was impressed with the quantity of flavors, and decided on the Cookie Dough in a waffle cone.
The service was fast and smiley despite the rush, and there was a generous amount of ice cream stuffed into the cone.

I look forward to trying more flavors another time.
Oh, did I mention they have Chocolate waffle cones? Awesome!
Jessica
Was so excited when Ben & Jerry's first opened! Hopefully they open more stores. Not the best ice cream ever, but still something different than the usual Wendy's or NZ Natural. Would recommended for anyone who feels like ice cream walking up or down Ponsonby road.
Aabhas Dole
One of the best places to have Ice-Creams in Auckland. In line with the lights of move n pick.

All the flavours are tasty and creamy. Would be great of they introduced some natural fruity options too.

I'm a regular here.
Poppingcandy
So comforting. Tons of fat and sugar but cannot resist to eat a lot. The dough style ice creams are my favorite. so many textures and rich flavor ingredients and really creamy ice cream. Big portion. Love this evil store. comfy place great guilty ice cream.
Heidi M
I had the mixed berry sorbet and the cookies and cream is best ice-cream that I have had in Auckland.
Decided I wanted mine in a cup then regretted in straight away after looking at the delicious waffle cones.
Diogo Reck
One of the best places in Auckland to have high quality icecream. Their product is very good and creamy, but I'd really like them to have more fruity options, while their menu is basically flooded with chocolate. But if you're really into it, gonna love it!
Deen Khan
Service was absolutely appalling with the girls behind the counter serving several other European customers before me even though they were not in the queue. Rating 1 for service. Ice cream was perfect when we eventually got it.
Gus
11pm on a Saturday night, late Winter and the place is really busy, so something must be good. The strawberry cheesecake sample I get from the girl in the cow suit out front tastes good but the NY chocolate fudge chunk waffle cone was delicious; two types of fudge, nuts in rich chocolate ice cream. Well worth a visit if you are in the area
Sarah S
Finally got around to visiting Ben & Jerry's. It definitely lives up to the hype, even on a cold winters night there was a queue inside the store, which I didn't mind as it gave me time to read the menu & choose what I wanted. There are sooo many delicious sounding flavours. I went with the chocolate fudge brownie I think it was. It was super thick, creamy and flavoursome. I would defo recommend
Raeray
such a lovely store, well decorated for a chill time immersed in the culture of the brand. had a fancy Belgium Waffle Sundae which does not look as luxurious as the idea sounds, lol. "Chocolate Therapy" is definitely the must have.

After all the hype we decided to give it a try. No doubt it is a nice creamy ice cream, perfect for those indulgent weekend or nights when you are on the neighbourhood but it didn't make me go gaga over it. I wouldn't just drive there to get an ice cream. Price is $10 for 3 scoop with cups, waffles cost $1 more (we shared between the two of us and our fluffy dog).
Cupy Dee
What more can you say! It's soooo goooood!!

It's not cheap and yes NZ ice cream is already premium quality. However these guys are on the next level!

You just have to come in and try !!
Michelle Ma Belle
Words could not describe how happy I am that Ben & Jerry has finally come to New Zealand. The variety of selection is mind-blowing, and hands down best ice cream I've ever had. Super creamy and decadent, with chunky ingredients. My favourites are the cookie dough and cookie affair. My mom really enjoys their mint chocolate chip, says its a lot more minty in flavour with real chocolate chunks. Also recommend their 'half-baked' shake and chocolate coated waffle cones.

The people serving us are always super friendly, energetic, and patient. The price is similar to other gourmet ice cream shops in New Zealand (e.g. Movenpick & Giapo), but the serving size is far more generous. Definitely worth every penny. They sometimes host free-cone days and care a lot about environmental causes. They definitely deserve all the hype they get!

Did not see anything special about their ice creams. The taste does not live up to their pricing with one scoop being $5.90? I am more of a Gelato person and after buying here once, I can't help but compare it to Movenpick. I found that Movenpick is more flavourful.

I would come back again just to try out the other flavours but I would not consider this my go-to ice cream parlour.
Patriz De Leon
Awesome flavours - most of it are chocolate or vanilla based. Not so much fruity flavours but I don't mind that!

My husband likes Chunky Monkey while my favourite is A Cookie Affair. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is another classic.

Great place to have dessert after you dine somewhere in Ponsonby area.
Samantha Brown
I ordered a scoop of the cookie dough ice cream. It was not special at all. To be honest I like cookie dough ice cream from the supermarket better. As it has a fair amount of publicity there is often big queues but it's not worth the wait. There are many other better and cheaper ice cream places out there.

Ben & Jerrys is so freaking good and worth the lines! The portion sizes are huge and there's so much to choose from. Love all of the chocolate varieties.
Stephy_NakiGirl
This was my first time in the Ponsonby store - we were passing by on a weekday & it was slightly quieter than normal so a good time to try it.
It is certainly not cheap, but if you want a delicious quality ice cream this is the place to go. Giapo still wins on presentation, but this has a great simplicity.
You can try the various flavours before you decide which is standard, but the staff are quite patient.
We each chose one of the coated waffle cones - the definitely added a huge sugar hit but were delicious. Flavours wise, there is definitely a focus on chocolate across the range. We chose a scoop of strawberry cheesecake, chocolate therapy, and phish food across our cones. They were yum - definitely a treat as very rich.
Michelle Hwang
Spent $ 5.90 for a single scoop ice cream and an extra $ 0.60 for a crushed peanuts topping there. The cup was too small to take one scoop, and I had to keep dropping the peanuts topping during I ate it. The serving size was good, but the price was expensive.

There's nothing much to say other than it's Ben & Jerry's. Of course their ice creams are heavenly. The downside is that they don't have as diverse flavours as the ones overseas, but I'm hoping it will get bigger. This is, after all, their first shop in NZ. Hopefully, as we get more chain stores of Ben & Jerry's, the have more flavours available and we don't have such a huge queue. No pictures since I eat everything before even thinking of taking a picture
Charlene Weaver
I've tried Ben and Jerry's a few times overseas and here in Auckland when it first came out but I'm not really a fan of their ice cream! I always thought it was targeted for younger kids/teens, for me the ice cream is just plain flavours like chocolate or vanilla with other things mixed in.

I'm definately more of a movenpick or giapo kind of person! I find the flavours at movenpick or giapo more sophisticated and flavourful.
Benedict Uy
UUsually stop by here when I'm in the area and wanting something sweet. Nice variety of flavours and number of choices on what you want your ice cream in - cup, cone or special cone. Ice cream flavours, as well as the menu, is behind the counter. The flavours are also available in the ice cream cooler. They also have other goodies like ice cream cakes and sundaes. What is really nice is that they sometimes have a free scoop day.

Usually busy with most tables (both inside and out) being occupied. If you are able to get a table it is a nice place to just sit and relax with your goodies.
TheMʌverick
Yummmm! Love the range of ice cream AND cone flavors they have!. The shop itself is really nice, as soon as you step inside you know you're in for a treat. Some say it's a little pricey but to be fair you don't go to Ben & Jerry's to pay for your average superette dollar cone ice cream. It's reasonably priced for the quality of product they produce
Sajill
Best ice cream strawberry cheese flavoured too good any other friendly staff my sis told me about this place and we been there twice@ Farhat Rabia
Joan Cecille De Guzman-Lomibao
I super love their ice cream... Not to sweet and full of toppings... I live in south Auckland and if I crave for ice cream, I always drive to ponsonby to buy Ben and Jerry's ice cream... I always buy a hand packed to take home... Best ice cream ever...
Cindy Wu
We have heard SO much about Ben & Jerry's for a very long time and FINALLY paid it a visit.

It was a very welcoming place, with its cute wooden chairs and picnic tables and a colourful neon sign. The shop has a very lively and youthful vibe to the shop, making for a gloomy night a bit more brighter. A promising start.
There was an array of ice cream selection mainly of America influence like cookie dough ice cream, strawberry cheesecake, fudge brownies, and caramel ice cream swirl, the sort. Unfortunately, only a couple of fruit-flavoured ice cream were offered, including Berry Berry Extraordinary and Mango Mango sorbet. Slightly disappointed that they didn't have more.

I ordered a scoop of A Cookie Affair in a cup. It was very tasty, the ice cream itself was milky, creamy, and velvety, with all its fillings very distinct and delicious. It came with a very generous serving as well, I couldn't finish it all but it might have more to do with having a big dinner prior to our ice cream adventure.

Here is my honest thought about the ice cream: while it is delicious and beautifully made, I can't help but think that all of its flavours are quite uni-dimensional. With only TWO fruit flavoured ice cream (one of them is a sorbet) and almost all of its flavours are based heavily on chocolate, with either chocolate based ice cream, has chocolate fillings, chocolate chunks, and/or chocolate swirls. It can become very boring very quickly. Don't get me wrong they are very nicely made and extremely tasty, but my taste bud craves something more exciting that another well-known ice cream chain is able to deliver, and if not also as tasty.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. The shop was very busy on a Tuesday night with people from all walks of life visiting.

Overall, I'd still recommend people giving this place a try, but if you are looking for more exciting and a wider range of flavours, there are plenty of other amazing ice cream shops in Auckland.

Ben and Jerry's had an awful amount of social media coverage when it announced that they were opening shop in Ponsonby, Auckland.

So having awaited their debut, I and a few friends decided to try this place out to see if it's worth the hype.

There are three things I wish to note first. The price isn't that bad, the taste is for real, and the service is good considering how busy they are.

We had two sundaes and a single scoop. As expected, waiting in the line was a little annoying due to the amount of people but it was well worth the wait.

The service was fantastic, the staff seemed composed and were patient with us as we attempted to try all possible flavours.

Our orders were delivered under 5 minutes and our group consensus was that everything was delicious!

Showstopper: Absolutely fantastic ice cream and service was excellent considering how busy they were.

Overall Grade: A-

I'm not a huge ice cream fan to be honest but if I'm gonna do it I want it to be creamy and full of bits. Ben and jerrys came with a lot of hype, being so famous overseas and with that comes big expectations. The shop is clean and staffed with very friendly uni students I would guess. Limited places to sit. The big pull would be all the flavours. There are a lot, which they are more than happy for you to sample before making your big decision. You have the option of waffle cones, cups or sundaes. The thing I like the most is that when they say they have chunky bits in them such as choc or nuts etc, they really deliver, every spoonful gives you that extra yummy bit. Great if you can get a seat at the window and do a bit of ponsonby people watching.
Jenny Da
The famous Ben & Jerrys is finally in NZ. It's been quite the hype but in my opinion just pretty standard ice cream. The place was super busy and the ice cream just average, more on the sweet side.
James
There is no system to their queues, so just try your luck and start ordering as soon as you make eye contact with anyone behind the counter.

ice cream is really good with the waffle cone
Karl Evangelista
Looking for an ice cream run? Head to bean & jerrys and try their sundaes.

I have tried the cookie and brownie sundae. And i tell you its worth the sugar rush! Both cookies and brownies are moist and you actually get a generous amount in your cup.

Can't wait to try the waffles next!
LuciferTSN
Great place for new American ice cream. The portion is huge. I mean for the price of one scoop of Movinpic, here you can get two. A huge range of flavor to choose from, my favorite was the salty caramel that I had.
Hannah Gear
Went here for dessert last night. I order the English toffee and phish food. The phish food is one of my favourites and was good. The toffee components in the English toffee was freaking yummy but the base was kind of boring. My biggest gripe was my peanut chocolate cone. It was stale and very unpleasant and I ended up throwing away half my ice cream because the cone made it inedible. Will be back, but eat my ice cream in a cup.
Marggie Pascua
Amazing variety of ice cream and also cones. Would definitely come back again for more ice cream. Absolutely loved the English Toffee ice cream. The prices are worth it as well.
Tanz
I had been waiting to go to here for a long time and finally had a chance to go on weekday which was really good because there was no queue.

I tried chocolate fudge brownie and it was AMAZING! If you love chocolate, you can't miss this flavour. We also had brownie sundae with some chocolate flavours ice-cream which was overloaded for us. It was so so so rich that we couldn't finish the whole thing haha. I mean it was like heaven when you started eating but once you reach the point that it was too chocolaty, you just have to stop ;p

Anyway I love Ben & Jerry's ice cream and looking forward to going back and try more flavours.
Wayne Potgieter
Very good. I really enjoyed the coffee ice cream. The dipped waffle cones are also great. Its in a great part of town and we really enjoyed it. Its a bit difficult to order as there is no clear queue or process and limited seating. But as for the ice cream and menu its fantastic. I think ben and jerry's is going to make me pretty fat.
Louise MacNaughton
Yum ice cream, but it damn well should be at $6.00 for a plain cone single scoop! If you want to be extravagant you're looking at around $10-$12 for a decent ice cream.

We ordered the strawberry cheesecake and the phish food. Both overly sweet. I don't see the dramatic difference to justify the steep prices.

A good once in a while treat :)
Scott
Me and my Wife popped in here after dinner.
Let me start by saying its busy, all the time, but the service is quick!! So dont be put off by the queue.
There is a crazy amount of icecream flavours.
Price wise, its on the pricey side, 20$ for two icecreams. 2 scoops each.
The only thing i did not like was the extra charges for sauces, its a bit cheeky considering the price already.
Rohit Victor
Great atmosphere and ambience to take your family to after dinner, unique flavours and even more unique cones (oreo-crushed comes were my favourite)! Must go after dinner for dessert!
FoodieOodie95
■ Great flavours
■ Topnotch quality

■ Pricey
■ Only one located in NZ

Yaaayyy theyve come to NZ and Im happy to have finally tried it! Had my first experience after they were giving it out for free at Auckland Uni O-week whereas you'd have to pay a fair amount if you were planning to go all the way to Ponsonby. Im not quite sure of the flavour but it had cookie and fudge/toffee bits and I can happily say it lived up to the hype. This is gonna be some competition for Movenpick coz Im a huge fan of them as well. Looking forward to checking out more flavours in the future!!
Vivien @ KJAS Blog
Finally, their wide range of flavours are here in New Zealand for ice cream fanatics! With neon lights declaring their raison d'être and crowds of people during the day, it's hard to deny that they've done really well. My favourite go-to is the chocolate chip cookie dough, which is a creamy vanilla dotted with cookie crumbs, chocolate drops and chewy caramelish chunks of what I assume are supposed to be cookie dough. Also, I really recommend their range of fancy decorated cones too. As well as being able to eat the container you had your ice cream in, they're super pretty and fun to match up with the look of different flavour ice creams.
Caroline Barrett
I really don't see what all the fuss is about... I love my ice cream but In my opinion, the only reason this place is a roaring success is because of the famous american branding behind it. Other then that, the ice cream is pretty average and overpriced really. It was worth the trip to see what its like but I don't think ill be going out of my way to visit again unfortunately.
Sukriti Bhatnagar
Choc fudge brownie is the best! Admittedly I did sample the cookie dough first but it seemed plain to me. I just had 1 scoop but it was plenty to share between 2 people! I will be back to try the other flavours in cone.

Unfortunately, the hype surrounding Ben & Jerry's opening in Ponsonby may have got my hopes too high. Yes, like all ice-cream, it was good. All ice-cream is good. But it's nothing new, nothing Auckland hasn't seen before. Wendy's produce the exact same stuff and have been for years. Meanwhile, Giapo is absolutely shooting expectations thought the roof. It's sweet, scrumptious ice-cream, which I'd be happy to eat again, but it's not jaw-dropping stuff.
Kat. Jordan
I went here for the first time after receiving a voucher for 2 scoops at the price and I was very, very happy about it!! The parlour was quite busy due to an event that was being held (thus the vouchers) but dispite this it was a short wait with plenty of time to him over the flavors and drink in the smell of baking brownies. The staff were super friendly and generous, the girl serving me gave me time to try different flavours and then gave me very generous helpings. For myself it was the berry sorbet and the seven layer coconut ice cream which were divine but I also tried a lot of other flavours from friends which were also delicious. The only reason for the half a star off is this price which is a bit on the high side as I thought at $6.40 it was a bit much for a single scoop in a waffle cone but I was certainly worth it for two scoops! I will be back.
Ashlene Cheryl Cardoza
Ben & Jerry is finally here! I love the pure quality of their ice creams....its rich, creamy and luscious. The scoop size is generous enough for two to share a scoop. I hate chocolate ice cream and I wiped down a whole chocolate and brownie fudge. My only criticism is that the flavours are too standard. You have your cookies and cream, strawberry and assorted chocolate flavours...where are the other flavours you get in America? Ben & Jerrys is known for its flavour innovation and yet the ones here are just plain.
Miss Kiki
Ben & Jerry's has a lot of interesting American type of flavours. The ice cream is tasty, rich and the flavours are good. However, in my honest opinion I believe it is overhyped and overpriced for what you get.
The scoops are large but considering that they charge just slightly less than Giapo for their product is surprising to me. Their ice cream is slightly better than Wendy's but they charge double the price.
The price you pay is purely for the location and a brilliant marketing stunt to give an illusion that the product is good (Sorry but that is my honest opinion). I would rather go to Giapo where I feel like I get my monies worth.
Lisa V
I am in love. So many flavors that you are bound to find one that suits you. The chocolate therapy is my ultimate favorite. I sound insane but it really is therapeutic. Absolutely delicious and totally worth the calories. I have also tried the coconut seven layer bar and phish food. Both are delicious but definitely no where near as amazing as chocolate therapy. Although you may not agree because it really all comes down to the individual. Overall though, size of portion, price, service, location and everything else I give Ben and Jerry's a 5. If you like ice cream PLEASE go and try it.
Vanessa
Tried their chocolate brownie ice cream and their coffee one. I like the coffee one but the chocolate chunks are quite annoying after few bites. I wish they have plain coffee one. The chocolate brownie one are abit too sweet for me.

Ben & Jerry's is here.

Ben & Jerry's is here.

Ben & Jerry's is here!

Having only tried Ben & Jerry's a few times in Australia, I was super excited to hear a store was opening up on good ole Ponsonby Road. A friend and I arrived mid-afternoon and while the line was way out the door and onto the street, I convinced my friend we wouldn't be waiting that long, plus we might receive samples (just like Giapo on Queen St). Luckily, the staff were really onto it and the line moved quickly!

Here's a low down on what I loved about Ben & Jerry's:
- The smell of sweet waffle cones when you enter. And even better when you see the cones! Some are dipped in chocolate and others are then rolled in chopped peanuts or sprinkles.
- The range of flavours to choose from. According to their website, there are 18! I tried the Triple Caramel Chunk which was sweet and had great texture and the Coconut Seven Layer Bar layered with swirls of butterscotch and crushed walnuts (melt in your mouth!)
- The size of the scoops and price. Yes, the cost is a bit more than your average dairy ice cream, however less than Giapo, and their scoops are very generous and it is definitely worth it.
- The layout of the shop is very colourful and I guarantee that both the young and old will love it. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and their waiting line system is efficient as well (thanks to the large space!)

Things I didn't like... well nothing actually. The wait for the ice cream was worth it and if you haven't tried Ben & Jerry's yet, then get to Ponsonby now - you will love it!!!

Auckland went crazy when this place opened up. It has been packed ever since. Luckily we managed to find two seats outside.

Quite a good variety of ice cream flavours. A bit on the expensive side with one scoop being around $6 though. The outside needs to be maintained a bit better as there was rubbish overflowing in the bin.

The ice cream tasted good though and we were not disappointed after all the hype. But it's also not a place we will regularly visit often if we weren't in the neighbourhood.

Yes, cool new place with awesome dessert. Fresh and lively type of ambience. This place is crowded in the evenings, so there's a long wait. Will go again.
Michelle Chua
First time. Many told me to give it a try. I think it's good and the service is pretty quick. Staffs are pretty friendly . Wide range of flavours.
Trixibelle Swan
I went here in the first week they opened and was pleasantly surprised with how fast the line went considering it was out the door and down the street. Credit to the staff who were still finding their feet but KILLED it all night.

Unfortunately. When I ordered a milkshake and was asked for my three flavours to go in it I didn't expect vanilla-ish flavoured milk with some cookie lumps.

I MIGHT stop by again to rekindle the joy I once felt for B&Js. Hope my next experience is better.
Crystal Chand
The size of the servings of ice creams is very reasonable for the price. The flavours are amazing and taste exactly like their labels says so . Highly recommended
Janice Zumba
We visited this place for the first time today and I was intrigued as it had a variety of flavours. It had a variety of chocolate based flavours and their waffle cones have 4 types of flavours. I would definitely come back try some more flavours.
Jasmine Sandhu
Totally lived upto the hype! While there was a lot of rush, the staff dealt with everyone patiently and politely. I felt the flavours weren't anything exciting or different but the ice cream was delicious. A word of advice: this ice cream is heavy! If you think you can have 2 scoops and a cone, go with 1 only! Otherwise you run the risk of a massive ice cream baby!
Laura Hunt
Since first trying Ben and Jerry's almost ten years ago I've been hoping and waiting for the day for it to arrive in New Zealand. Finally my dreams came true!

I first attempted to visit the Ponsonby store on the day of their "free scoop night" but as they were preparing for the event they weren't letting in paying customers beforehand - not happy! So I tried again a week later. Everything was as expected - over the top flavours and large scoops. I had the chocolate fudge brownie with coffee coffee buzz buzz and my friend got triple caramel and cookie dough. The prices are higher than overseas... But I'm not really surprised by this. Sadly a couple of my favourite flavours were missing but hopefully they come soon!!!

Now that Ben and Jerry's is here it will probably be my go-to when an ice cream craving hits.
FoodiePhysician
Ice cream parlor. Clean. Colourful. Friendly. Lots of flavours. Variety of fillers. Cookie dough and marshmallows. Variety of cones. Cups for those carb counting. Not much variety in cups. 5.90$ single scoop. More for more scoops. Girl in cow costume on the sidewalk giving stuff out in the cold.

3.5 Yums

Finally got around to going to Ben & Jerrys. YAYE! I got a two scoop ice cream on the chocolate with nuts waffle cone. Got berry sorbet and cookie dough OMG so delicious!! I don't usually get sorbet ice cream because i find that its over sweet for me but this one was perfect and so good. The place was packed for 11pm on a Saturday but i waited! Definitely gonna be going back to try other flavours.
Queena
Finally got round to going to Ben & Jerry's (yay) and the line was still quite long. I got the cookie dough flavour cos it's one of my fave flavours. And it was SO good. Nice and creamy. Not too sweet. The cone tasted average though.

The only downfall for me was that the scoop was quite small for $7 something. Definitely would come back to try all the other different flavours there!
Joanna Marie Francisco
Who doesn't love Ben & Jerry's? Their ice creams and cones were not too sweet and really yummy. Went here a lot of times already and will definitely keep coming back for more. I always buy their handpacked icecreams every visit because I just cannot get enough of Ben and jerry's 💓
Thegreeats
Finally visited this much hyped icecream parlour !
It was busy even on a Tuesday evening
Prices were expensive !
2 scoops for 8 dollars or so and costs more if you have it on a waffle cone and more so if it's chocolate dipped
But worth a visit
We had the NY fudge and strawberry cheesecake and it was amazing
Cookie dough was an average for me didn't really like the floury flavour
Cindy Ong
Visited Ben & Jerry's a weekday after lunch with my children.
There were many people queuing up for tasting the ice creams and ordering.
This may be it was newly opened on 16 January (if not mistakenly).
There were limited settings to let the customers sitting down to enjoy your dessert. Only 6 chairs at the high rise window side bar like long table, a table at the back of the shop and about 3 tables in front of the shop.

I cannot remember how many flavour they had but it should be more or less 12 flavours to choose from.

I had the double salted caramel ice cream it is super yummy!
My daughter she tried the cream and cookie flavour. It is good too.

Downside of the location is not much parking around and always cannot find car park.

Ben & Jerry's have finally come to New Zealand and they are certainly popular. The place was absolutely packed. Fortunately they had a lot of staff and quick service so we didn't have to wait long, but we had to have our ice creams "to go" as there were no seats available.

The ice cream was delicious. We tried the phish (chocolate & marshmallow), cookie dough and triple caramel in waffle cones - all of which we'd highly recommend.

A really good ice cream shop, but not the best value at $18 for just two ice creams, however, I'm sure we'll be back in some time soon.
Princess Norain Luzon-Marcial
Atlast, the long wait is over. I have been wanting to try the popular and talked of the town ice cream. It's yummy ice cream, extra ordinare. But the place is so tight, some of the customers were waiting in the wrong cue. Luckily, we decided to check inside first. We prefer to eat the ice cream at home, if the place is bigger it will be much better.

Have been here twice in one week and I don't regret it!
The first time I went was on a sunday and it was of course busy, yet my order and my friends were served quite rapidly. This would be for the perfect amount of employees they had on for that time. I had ordered the two scoops of the choc mint and the chocolate ice cream. I was a bit scared about me not getting enough for the money but it definitely lived up to it! I could really happily finish off one and a half scoops of this ice cream and feel like I just ate a meal. The ice cream is so rich and beautiful and is one of my favorite ice cream places I can happily say!
The second time I went was on a Thursday and it was not busy at all. I decided to get the mango sorbet as I wanted to try their fruit ones yet unfortunately, it was disappointing. Despite how beauuuutiful their normal vanilla and chocolage based ice creams are, their sorbets are very average and wasnt pleasing for the price. Yet the only two sorbets in the store is okay so it wont pur down my judgement to the store. I still strongly believe this ice cream place is one to try!!
Judy Chhy
Happy they brought this place to NZ enjoyed it when I visited Australia! Super packed but it's super nice :) would recommended my friends and family to this place if they want something sweet
Gaeth Al
Really good ice cream. The place is always packed with limited seating. Over priced compared to Sydney, however it's one of the best ice cream options in Auckland.

Ben and Jerrys has finally come to New Zealand! The staff are excellent! They are patient, enthusiastic and extremely helpful. I have heard that it can get really busy but I have never encountered that problem. Quick and friendly service. Will definitely be back for another ice cream fix!
Taran
What's not to like about ice cream and especially if it's Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Just love the flavors, got the seven layer coconut bar and it was just tooooo good 😊
Chay P Rosales
The ice cream was really good but I was disappointed on the servings. As you can see in the photo the one with chocolate flavour( phish food) its has reasonable serving for whats it worth but the other one I was disappointed. But the I flavors are good although they only have 18 flavors.
Daniel Bell
Great ice cream but expensive but of course you are paying for the brand and experience. Great fit out of the parlour but think they should have put a few more leaders and stools inside so you can sit and enjoy when it's cold outside. Love the fact that they are happy to sample any ice cream taste test with you!
Kelly
Ben & Jerry's ice cream has finally arrived in NZ!

A very busy little ice cream parlour, it's great that they offer complimentary samples of any flavour you'd like to try ☺️ cute decor and a clean parlour although the tables outside definitely need more than a quick wipe with a damp cloth. One waitress just quickly wiped the table with one swipe and left. You're dealing with ice cream so, sticky tables. .

Anyways, I ended up choosing the 'Phish' one, chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and mini chocolate fish hehe. A very chocolately ice cream, for all you chocolate lovers this is definitely worth a try ☺️

I'd come back if I were in the area, Ponsonby can be a mission to find parking etc. but if I ever come by and I'm craving some ice cream I'd definitely be back 😁

Mrs Bobabits
So nice! So My husband had the ice chocolate ice cream and I had the hot chocolate. The cone was so nice as too was the New York chocolate fudge ice cream. The service were so friendly too! We definitely will be back to enjoy the ice cream and try different flavors!

I've been so curious about this place for awhile now especially seeing how popular it is in the US and internationally. Went here during the evening with my family and the shop was very easy to find during the night with its bright lights and colourful interior design. Luckily it wasn't as full as I thought it would be since it was raining, but there was still a line. The service was very quick and efficient and the staff were very friendly. However when there are a lot of people it does get a bit crowded around the cash registers as there are different sections and could get confusing for the staff to remember who has paid already.
Loved the different flavours they had. Some were classic and some were new to the NZ scene and would be appealing to a lot of children.
I got The Cookie Affair and Strawberry Cheesecake. My family got other flavours such as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie and New York Super Fudge Chunk. The Strawberry Cheesecake was not the best and I probably wouldn't get it again but I loved the taste of the Cookie Affair.
Sadly, the quality of the ice cream was not the best, it did not have the refreshing and rich taste I was hoping for, especially being quite pricey. If I were to compare Ben and Jerry's to Movenpick in quality, Movenpick would win by a landslide since the overall experience of eating their ice cream is much more refined and refreshing without making me want to have water every second. However, the different flavours they have make up for it.
Each of us also got a chocolate dipped waffle cone which in my opinion did not have that much flavour but it was very visually appealing.
I would probably come back again to try out other flavours but maybe would just go for a cup next time.
Great place to try out with friends and family.
W111
Except for cheese cake flavour, there is no unique feature about this place. These facts that Ben & Jerry's is representing US ice-cream in NZ, and that they are paying a ridiculously inflated rent in Ponsonby make these ice-creamed very overpriced... I would rather grab a scoop from movenpick or kohu road.

Simply put, Ben & Jerry's is overpriced, and not that taste good as whatever ppl say on internet.
Abdul Wahid Awan
Ice cream is okay but very overrated. They didn't have nutty flavours like almond or macadamia but never mind that. It's nice to try something new. I tried the waffle and 2 scoops of ice cream and the waffle was like eating a 2 year old biscuit.....was like a chewy rock. You'd expect American chains to know what a waffle is. Now that I have tried it....never going back again. The only upside was the friendly customer service but I guess that's just a kiwi thing.
A Tale Of Two Tummies
Update: B&J's are celebrating their one year anniversary this week, so we decided to call in after having been regulars there for their first few months. As much as it breaks my heart to say, it appears that the honeymoon period is over. The massive lines, quirky decor and great selection of ice cream is still there - but that's all that remains. I tried to order three scoops in a cup (I always order a decoy scoop for Little Tummy, as she always inevitably eats one of them), opting for the CoffeeCoffee BuzzBuzzBuzz, Triple Caramel Chunk and New York Super Fudge Chunk - but instead ended up with 2/3 of those flavours, with the Triple Caramel Chunk instead being some mystery scoop - possibly one of the chocolate cookie dough ones? To be fair, I could've gone back in and pointed out the mistake, but I really wasn't keen on battling against the huge crowd just to swap a scoop out. The portions are significantly smaller now too - comparing the photos from our first visit to what we were served on this occasion, the difference looks like the equivalent of an entire scoop. I'm not too sure whether we just got served by the Grinch of ice cream or whether they've been instructed to make smaller scoops - but that only added to the disappointment. Throw in the off-putting comments from the cashier when I ordered three scoops (it was like being served by Fat Fighters' Marjorie from 'Little Britain') and I don't see us coming back here anytime soon. Maybe they're in need of a new store and new staff... otherwise, it's back to Movenpick I guess.

Food ordered:
Triple Scoop (Triple Caramel Chunk, Chocolate Mint Chunk, New York Super Fudge Chunk)
Double Scoop (Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz Buzz, Cream and Cookie Chunk)

Bill: $21.20

Big tummy: Auckland has some amazing ice cream establishments and with one visit, B&J's has easily jumped towards the top of our go-to list. While the flavours aren't as extensive as the name B&J's is usually associated with, the quality of the flavours is undeniable. Whilst the chocolate mint ice cream is on par with its Movenpick counterpart (and choc mint is like my specialty) , the caramel chunk and New York Fudge are simply un-rivalled. The price is slightly above your standard ice cream joint, but for me, I think the quality of the ice cream and uniqueness of the flavours justify the extra dollars.
I was also impressed by how quickly the staff were able to move through the line. The line was literally out the door and up the road when we went, but it was only a matter of say 10min from joining the line to holding our ice creams. I do kinda wish the staff wore gloves though, but that's just me being picky.

Little tummy: What can I say? I'm in love. 15/5. I love anything coffee flavoured and B&J's CCBBB was absolutely out of this world. Quite simply the best coffee flavoured ice cream I've ever had. The cookies n cream ice cream was also great, if not outstanding, but that might've been cause it had such a tough act to follow in the CCBBB. The Orea-coated waffle cone was amaze-balls as well. I can't wait to come back and try more of their flavours!!!

Second time round and again always packed ! They really need to work out the queue system as there are two tills with two separate queues and sometimes lines stream outside too so it's confusing for most. However it's well worth the wait as its quality and didn't disappoint both times, I personally had the coffee flavour and mixed with toffee and strawberry with the chocolate coated cone. It was a group of 8 of us and one of my mate had the massive 3 scopes with waffle and cream ! Looks delicious and we helped him demolish it , it was a hit with the kids too and we will be returning as its location and product is just to good to avoid

My family and I visited this establishment on Monday 28 December 2015 at approximately 9pm. It was a disappointing experience due to how rudely a staff member communicated with my mother. This staff member who bestowed upon herself the responsibility of organising the customers into a single file in this establishment acted rather hostile towards my mother as she thought my mother is cutting in line however my mother had to repeat herself twice that she is visiting with family and we are viewing the products and flavours available. After this incident when we were in line ordering; a couple was served before us and they had cut in line. However nothing was said to them. This leaves me questioning the acts of that staff member.

As for the ice-cream and ambiance they were below expectation.

Ok so.. Not really sure what all the fuss is about? Good location, right in the heart of Ponsonby. Limited seating available, and very long lines, right out the door and outside at the moment, I think due to the fact it's "trending" at the moment.

The ice cream itself comes in all the usual flavours, not as extensive a selection as I had hoped for. I chose (forgive my forgetfulness of names) the chunky monkey- banana with chocolate pieces, the marshmallow with chocolate and cookie pieces, and strawberry ice creams. My friends had the double chocolate. I highly recommend the banana chocolate ice cream.. Was literally delicious! But all in all I wouldn't say anything out of the ordinary. The waffle cones although pretty and covered in chocolate, cookies etc, were actually deceivingly bland.

Overall, a pretty run of the mill ice cream experience. Try it, to say you've tried it. But definitely just a good standard ice cream store and not much more.

A friend was telling me about how amazing the ice cream is here, so I decided to try it out myself... In short, I can say that it was definitely worth all the hype.
We came here around 6:30pm and waited approximately 8-10 minutes in line which I think is quite fair given that this place is fairly new and is situated closely to the ever popular Franklin road Christmas lights!

I was fortunate enough to try more than one flavour. I had the chocolate fudge brownie flavour - amazing amazing amazing, totally my favourite flavour thus far! The chunky monkey - unique and packed with banana punch flavour! And lastly, one of the strawberry flavours- fresh, light and creamy, yum!

I'll definitely be back to try other flavours. Can't wait :)
Bear Grillsd & I managed to drop into the newly opened NZ store of famous ice cream makers Ben & Jerry's on the opening day😁 We're loving the texture of the ice cream!! The sorbet is densely smooth & the dairy selections have heavenly chunky deliciousness. Get over there pronto!

So so so happy that Ben & Jerry's has finally opened in little ol' NZ! Waited in the 20 minute line on the day after it opened and I have no regrets 😍. They have 18 flavors and if you haven't really heard of the brand before - its all pretty intense flavors which contain a lot of different ingredients such as caramel swirls, marshmallows and chocolate fish, and so on! The service was good but there isn't a lot of seating even if it was a quiet time. Overall I can say I'll be coming back whenever I'm in the area 💕

Love this place! So happy we have B&J's in NZ :)

Had to wait in a bit of a line as it was only a few days old and people were super excited but the wait was totally worth it! So many flavours that were different to what NZ had to offer.

I ended up with a one scoop chocolate chip cookie dough in a choc nut dipped cone which came up to $7.60. A really good deal in my opinion considering some 'nice' ice cream places can go upto $10

Customer service is also so lovely. The young man who served us was so nice and chatty and told us what the best to try is. He was so lovely!

I will definitely be back!

thrilled with my chance to visit ben and jerry's today. The service was efficient and outstanding, with all of the workers being very friendly and willing to help. Samples were offered which was great, and in the end the product of ice cream was amazing! Lots of seating as well - even on busy days like today.

Came here on the night of the opening and waited in line. Wasn't disappointed though!
The choice of flavours were new to the New Zealand ice cream market.
The prices were a tad high as expected.
Would make a cute dessert stop shop after dinner in Ponsonby
