Review The Landing Restaurant & Bar - Auckland Central

Food selection not that much but it’s all delicious and big portion. Their scallop wrap in bacon is a must try dish! Tried their weekly special seafood medley and they are really generous with the seafood as well. Overall very good experience, would definitely go again.

A great little restaurant in a lovely location and with a wonderful vibe. Not to mention the best meal I've had on my trip. Also very convenient from the Airport if you have a car!

Great restaurant in an unlikely location. Tastefully decorated (in marine theme), friendly and quick service, deliciously fresh food beautifully presented. Highly recommended!

Staff was friendly and accommodating. The oyster doesn’t taste like its fresh and less lunch option when we went there for lunch. Seafood chowder was good.
Josephine Tali
Lovely and friendly staff. Didn't have to wait to long for our food and everything tasted Absolutely delicious. Cozy atmosphere family friendly and welcoming.

Nice relaxing atmosphere, oyster size was a little disappointing for the price you pay but scallops wrapped in bacon were on point, lamb rack and steak meal were great. Awesome service received from our waitress. Need to fix that coffee machine though, would have been nice to finish off with 😊

My compliments to the cook this evening, a really great meal. My friends and I ordered the Lamb Shank, Chicken Alfredo, Snapper and Scoliosis wrapped in Bacon. Food was excellent. Great value for your money. Place is clean and tidy. Waitress was very sweet. Needs a little more training but a lovely personality. Barman could be more friendly or engaging. Overall a really good experience, but the food topped it tonight.

This place is great - firstly the server was so friendly and nice, made us feel very welcome. The food was great, our steaks were all perfectly cooked. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Hadn't been there for a while but have to say the food was pretty good and price not to bad. Will definitely go back.

Great steak, great food.

Booked online for lunch on a Tuesday. Turned up to find the restaurant was actually closed until dinner on Tuesdays. Spoke to bar staff and this is apparently normal, they however do have the restaurant menu at the bar so you can still have lunch. Just not in the restaurant. I feel this should be made apparent on the website where bookings are taken as we almost didn't bother going in when we saw the restaurant was closed from the outside. Food was nice and generous portions and the lady behind the bar was very friendly.

Went on a cold winter night and it was very warm. Amazing food and service. Highly recommend the steak, snapper and chips. Huge portion size and family friendly too thankyou for the great experience 😊

Snapper fish and chips were delicious and the portions are big! Bring your stomach and have an excellent meal.

For people familiar with driving through Onehunga to and from the airport, their eyes usually notice the dozen oyster specials advertised, so it was nice to lunch at The Landing. Half of had half and full dozen oyster plates and the others enjoyed the 2 course meal for $25. I ordered the Coconut Curry Prawn Salad and Gurnard & Chips and an order for Bacon Scallops with Chicken Tomato Pasta was placed. All of our meals were fantastic and the seafood was generous. Accompanying our meals, we enjoyed Koropiko Pinot Noir. Staff was outstanding and delivery of food was impressively swift. A few patrons had arrived, dined and left ordering the popular 2 Course Lunch Special in the time we had been there. For excellent value to definitely satisfy, The Landing is the place to try out. There is the bar or restsurant side of the establishment, which both sides are very pleasant. Highly recommended!

Stopped here while in the area. My first time here. We sat in the bar area. There is a restaurant. I had fish and chips for $18 and I had a huge portion and so did my friends meals and it tasted good. The service was good. I recommend stopping here if your in the area.

Group of 9, staff were great. Food was good.

Really nice inside, dont be fouled by the menu only saying bar snacks as they were decent portions and we were all stuffed after. Pics show the fish basket and chicken nibbles! Would recommend

Lovely dinner, had pan fried snapper and it was delicious. Everyone at the table had a nice meal too. Only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was we were a big group and had spent lots of money over the bar and we ordered bar snacks that arrived just as everyone wanted to go in for dinner and they wouldn't let us take them in as a starter nibble which I think was quite mean as it all came from the same kitchen and the resturant was just through a door in the same building. Come on, service lads!

My husband and I Came here for a drink and snacks with a friend. The bar was quiet on a Saturday afternoon but the weather was terrible. I had a couple of lemon lime and bitters which were flat but ok. We ordered the chicken nibbles and chips and gravy. The chicken was delicious, very crispy with lots of flavour but maybe a tad bit sweet. The chips were nice and gravy with them was delicious! The food didn't cost much and the portions were massive! Definitely value for money here.

55$ got you 3 course menu. The scallop with bacon was quite nice, the snapper was great, the brownies was not bad. The place was very quite noisy so it’s hard to have proper conversation here.

Food is not too bad. Great serving sizes. Taste - average but you can't go wrong with the oysters. Fish and Chips are fine but nothing too exciting. Service is a bit average. It takes a while before we had our food and our orders taken. Restaurant ambience is quite cool and historic.

I use to come here quite often. The food used to be great (Pictures before the chefs changed the menu) Came in a few months ago and the quality of the food has dropped a lot. Still a great atmosphere and good venue for the pokies.

BEYOND TERRIBLE experience - THE CHEF KEPT BUMPING OUR ORDER BECAUSE HE DID NOT LIKE THE WAY WE LOOKED!!!. He made us wait TWO HOURS for entrees. We started to notice a lot of people were coming in after us and being served before us. When questioning the waitress ‘is there a problem serving us?’ She replied ‘it’s not me, it’s the chef’. He kept doing other tables orders and putting off our order while we sat there for over two hours. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! Who knew we still live in an era where this still happens. Will NEVER go back to this restaurant again. And definitely did not pay that full bill. Will definitely be submitting this feedback to NZ Herald and any media outlet. Disgusting behaviour!!

Located near the wharf in a quiet corner , the Landing is a decent pub which offers meals and drinks. While the ambience is average, the food and service is extraordinary. We tried the steak, lamb rump, butter prawns, garlic bread and delicious kilpatrick oysters.

Revist : Yes

Food was over rated and over priced!!!! Steak was burnt and dry there was no love into cooking this "MED RARE" steak it tasted like wood and the potatoes were so soggy it like leftover veges unwrapped in the fridge i couldn't finish it.This was $33. Yup!! WOULD NEVER GO BACK!!!! Ordered a seafood chowder for Entree and it was more chicken soup than seafood! You need to hire a new chef or change up your menu!

Went here for lunch, the menu provided is different from what they advertise online. They also advertise oysters but they didn't have any ... even though they are frozen, they literally put a sign out on the road knowing they didn't have what the sign advertised, just ridiculous. The decor is hideous also. Just a glorifying chip shop except you pay quadruple the price.

The worst meal I have ever had - the chicken parmigiana was two pieces of chicken fried in breadcrumbs on a pile of tasteless pasta and a topping of awful tomato sauce that I think must have come out of a tin or bottle. The scallops were small and rubbery no dressing at all sitting on a few dry leaves (4 for I think $17 or $19). My friend had the seafood platter (which was, in fact, a small bowl). There were a few prawns and whatever in a very sweet yellow sauce which we also assumed was from an instant packet as it tasted so awful and a mound of white tasteless rice. Needless to say we didnt stay for dessert. PS the waitress was very nice. Will never go back!

The food were amazing! 10/5, would definitely come back with more friends.
PS: That cute Asian waitress should get a raise for her great smile. :)

This place can be a bit of a hit n miss at time, some of the staff here a very engaging n professional, only to be let down by some of the deadbeats that collect a salary. Came to dine one evening very late, ordered the steak, it was cooked well but I ordered "medium-rare" not well done which what I was handed. It was semi dry along with the salad that had eye droplets of dressing on it. It was not the best, even my mums could of challenged this one n she's terrible. Everyone else in my group of 8 enjoyed their meals which all happened to be steak too. I'm probably talking out of turn so I'll give it another try later on. In saying that I had dined here earlier in the year n that atmosphere was livelier, the food was excellent and the same deadbeat individuals were goaded into life. Maybe it's the seasons that affect them.

This was a nice quiet place to go for dinner. Service wasn't too bad, generally friendly apart from one of the guys in the kitchen who wouldn't stop staring at my friend and I which made us uncomfortable. Food was good but nothing to rave about.

Celebrated my 29th birthday here and the staff was really nice and friendly. The ambience of the pace is great and child-friendly. The food served was amazing especially the scallops and the oysters. Would definitely come back again.

Went here for the $25 two course lunch special - I chose scallops for the entree and fish & chips for the main. Scallops were good but the fish & chips were terrible. Tiny pieces of fish which had a strange taste in the batter..yuck. Service was bad and very rushed, even though there were only 3 tables of customers.

Went there Sunday for and early dinner web site said it was open restaurant was closed no signs saying why and when I went to ask the bar staff they were to busy on the phone to even see they had a customer very bad service use to dine here a lot and have lost my service would highly not recommend this venue

We had lunch here with 2 of my flatmates; had the 2 courses for 25. I had scallops and fish and chips. Was relly nice and yummy. Like the look of the restaurant

On our way to dress mart in Onehunga we came across this restaurant and bar Oysters for $15 a dozen, yumyum so we fried oysters instead of having raw oysters but it was delicious

Had dinner here with my husband and the landing on Eater Sunday night. The venue and service was excellent.
My husbands steke was good. But the snapper had gone off and spoiled the dinner. The salad was very old and the oysters had no taste at all.
The menu is overprised as it lacked quality and good quantity for the prise stated.
The restaurant dearly needs to step up on its quality in the menu served and cooking done.

Great place to go for evening meal.
Food was good.
Could not get the beer I like,
another lion only outlet, and I can't get international beer.
Would not go again.
Portions are suitable for pricing. My table favourite was the steak meal. Fish&chips was very average, especially from a seafood restaurant? The salad that comes with it was delicious though, highlight of that meal. Chicken again was very average. Lovely setting and warm ambience. Nice experience overall but nothing exceptional that would have us returning

I don't know how this place got so many good reviews. They might have not ordered seafood platter. The seafood platter is edible but awful considering the price we paid. My suggestion is: DO NOT order seafood platter. The prawn quality is of cheap frozen goods. The prawn salad is so soggy. There is huge amount of water sitting at the bottom of glass. Mussel doesn't have the sweetness as if they are from frozen goods not mentioning the texture is overcooked and rubbery. The scallop wrapped in bacon is also rubbery and over cooked. The breaded squid is tasteless and soft. The service isn't up to standard either. It's simply not tentative enough. Several waiters passed by without offering any dessert menu as if there is no one sitting in our table. The food quality is more like a bar, and not qualified for a "restaurant".

Good service and nice seafood menu to choose from. Calamari was tasty and fresh. Plenty big enough for a lunch. Definitely returning to this place

TLR&B is a place has a beautiful dining room and on the other side of the building, there's a really nice looking bar. We've dined here as a family of 8 twice so far and together have managed to order most of the things on the menu. It's sad to see that on the Saturday nights when we've been, the dining room has only had 1 to 2 other couples dining. As I think this venue has a lot going for it. The menu is varied and the staff are great.

Celebrated a big "0" birthday on the 6 June in the newly renovated function room at the Landing Restaurant and Bar. The organisation was spot on and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone had a fantastic night. I have received great feedback from my guests who loved the great atmosphere , the food and professional and friendly service from the staff.

I almost don't want to write a review of this place. I've been here maybe a dozen times over the last little while. It's really good for a casual lunch. It's out of the way but close to the motorway. The service is good. The speed of service is fast. I can leave the office eat, have a glass of wine or two and be back in the office in an hour. The food is clean and tasty. During the week they have a 2 course lunch special for $25. I have lost count of the number of prawn cocktails and gurnard and chips I've put away over the last couple of months. I need to find a nice salad place and renew my gym membership! I've given this place 4 stars. It's probably worth more than that.

Top quality food here - my steak was cooked perfectly and my daughter's prawn risotto was pronounced to be absolutely delicious. Great service and smiles all round.
Back again (June 2015) and because we enjoyed the food so much last time, we ordered the same again and thoroughly enjoyed it. The portions are generous and filling but we managed to finish off the meal on a sweet note by ordering a single dessert and 2 spoons !
UPDATE February 2019 -We came here a couple of weeks ago and ordered a chicken tandoori trozo and portion of fries to share in the bar area. Tiny amount of chicken and tandoori was more like tomato paste. The fries were so well cooked they almost shattered as you bit into them. While we were here, another table had their meals presented - they were closest to the kitchen but as soon as their meals came out the fish smell hit us instantly accompanied by a rancid oil(?) smell. Their plates were huge and we could see the batter was quite a dark colour - it appeared overcooked - a bit offputting ! Sadly, we won't be coming back any time soon - we will wait til the reviews improve ! Sorry guys. PS the staff are lovely.

We have been, as a Company, to The Landing Restaurant 3 times now, the last time being 10th December & the experience has been outstanding. The food is fantastic, 2 of the functions were Xmas themed & the table layout & planning was amazing, service is brilliant & the food is always delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Would always go back again. We also have been on a Sunday for Pizza & a Wine while out cycling, they do a great Pizza. Highly recommend.

We have had 2 special celebration functions at the Landing in the last 18 months. The last being on Saturday 2 November 2013. The staff were attentive and accommodating from the start of planning for both functions till the very last minute on the night. Our guests raved about the delicious food, the great venue and how organized and smoothly both functions went. We highly recommend The Landing for its exceptional service and food but mostly for the professionalism and warmth of such an outstanding team

We enjoyed another visit to The Landing in Onehunga last night.
A drink in the sports bar and a meal in the adjacent restaurant went well. This place is a hidden gem!

Easy parking, hospitable staff, stately premises, generous delicious meals, make for a comforting night out.

Tho I am in trouble for not being able to take my eyes off waitress.

We came here to treat my Dad for father's day as he'd talked about coming here for a long time. The food was fantastic, we ordered the seafood platter - the food was both plentiful and delicious.
The staff were amazing right through out and we'd like to thank them especially for all their help.

Went there on a cold, raining Sunday night and the atmosphere was amazing. We sat next to the fire and told if its too hot they could turn it down for us, it was very cosy and the waiter was very attentive, professional and great at his job.
He was very friendly and provided great customer service.

I had the fish & chips and my partner had the Sunday Oyster special with garlic bread and we were not left disappointed. The fish and oysters were fresh and the serving size was definitely worth the price. It is definitely worth going to if you enjoy fresh seafood and well cooked and portioned meals. The service is personable and we will definitely be going back.

Attentive service despite the wait staff having to also look after a large table. I had the crispy skinned snapper. It was served on a bed of mash which sort of killed any crispyness there may have been. But it still tasted good. The head waitress is consistently professional yet still personable and friendly. I'm so pleased Onehunga has somewhere open in the evenings I can take friends to that isn't a takeaway bar or workingman's club!

Very good dinner here recently. Had a large group and they accomodated us very well.
I found it kind of funny that one of the guys working there looked like the cat that got the cream.
Can't really fault the place.

I have been back and the service is really good, they are good at organising things.

I got the fish and chips special and did not really like the fish. However the cheesecake and tiramisu were delicious!

Had lunch here today and it was lovely sitting by the fire. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and the food was good. Opted for the $20 menu with an entree and a main. The seafood chowder was good and thank goodness it didn't have any cream (which was offered) as it would be hard to eat that and a main. The chowder was served with a generous piece of garlic bread. The main was fish and chips, fresh gurnard and light crunchy batter and wasabi mayo (could have had a bit more wasabi for me). The chips were also light and crunchy - just would have liked a bit more salad with the meal, but to be fair it was "fish and chips". Even had a glass of wine with the meal for $5 - so all good!

What a fantastic venue - cool atmosphere and the food was great! I overheard that the owner was putting a lot of work into the place and i must say the place looks great - even has one of those things from the titanic (the ship speed control maybe?) that you can ring and feel 12 again! Not being much of a seafood person i ordered the steak as my main. PERFECTLY cooked, and i kept having difficulty choosing what to eat as my next mouthful - the beans and potato tasted just as good! I also tried a few scallops from my partners entree - they were really good too and i loved the sauce they were in. Lastly i had the brownie which topped off the meal nicely - i then rolled out of there full as a bull. Only criticism? The girls bathrooms could be done up a little nicer - loved the 'inbound' sign for girls and 'outbound' for guys though - a very cool touch!

Once we had entered the restaurant we were greeted by a very friendly waitress, taken to our table and we were well lokked after.
Although the menu selections were small the food arrived in a very quick manner and was fantastic. Overall for 2 entree's 2 mains 2 desserts and 4 drinks 9/10 $115.00.
Will be back!

this little place is tucked back behind the mangere bridge and is... ok

thought it was a bit expensive for what we paid but still nice food

a variety of seafood - calamari and mussel chowder are great.

tuna, steaks and rack of lamb not too flash
