I've never been to this bar before so had no idea what to expect but on arrival there was good music and the setting was lovely with lots of lush greenery. The staff were attentive and welcoming, the food, delicious and Leo can be seen (can't miss the orange jacket :p ) talking to customers and even cleared my table. Wonderful experience.

Wow! That's the sum up word. What we really enjoyed apart from food and drinks, is the service. Highly appreciate Ben who served us and the young girl and a boy (sorry don't know the names) who made a wonderful customized mocktail for us. Definitely will have that next time. Charming place with an opulent and luxurious atmosphere. Really loud music but staff is really patient and friendly (just miss a smile but understand that in a busy times like Friday night, there's no place for one.)
Food is delicious with mostly asian fusion cuisine with a high-end finish.
A pool table was set at some point during the evening, and dancefloor was fully packed with party goers.
Recommend to book as it gets busy easily.
Don't look funny when you are passing the security because they will not allowed wasted individuals women or men to come even with bookings!!

I have been here a few times now for drinks and dinner. Really awesome venue right in the Auckland viaduct. Great spaced dinning areas and bar/dancing area inside too.
The place is really well set outand the staff there are second to none (A+++).
Never any trouble and the food is amazing. It isn't cheap though.

The ceviche was really fresh and delicious, the meat was accurately grilled, the pizza was disappointing that the truffle flavor was light and the pizza that was a little burnt.

Yum, yum, yum and great location to boot. We went for an early dinner (with a child) but still busy at this time of year and it was a sunny day. We had a table on the porch and it was lovely - music was loud music and views of the water. Menu had a great selection of food and we will be back to try the pizza. Staff were really good but perhaps a little busy at times.

Great restaurant overlooking the water. Can be busy when the cruise ship comes in. The lamb chops where excellent and also the chicken sandwich was outstanding. Burger was good but they can only cook medium to well-done. Full size shuffle board in The bar area. Outdoor patio weather permitting. Price is on the high end but overall a great experience.

Whether you are grabbing a drink, have a snack from the bar menu or dropping in for a lunch or dinner, you will have many mouth watering choices. The staff are welcoming and quick, and if you're new and not sure what to try, ask for a recommendation from them. Great music buzzing in the background with the gentle ocean breeze and flowing atmosphere of conversation, you'll loose track of time.

I was looking forward to visiting HQ for a while as I have never been there. Went for Dinner with a couple of friends. Loved the Decor. Music too loud in restuarant area, could not hear one another. Food was good. I got a warm shaken Margarita. Waiteress walked past our table about 4 times before I had to ask her to clear the empty plates and then she had an attitude about it and took about 10mins to serve my next drink. Bar area had nice and lively vibe. Bartenders in Bar area were good.

Today was the first and last time Iāll be giving this place my money. Where do I even start .. firstly the wagu beef burger comes out and underneath the bun was a big spiral pube- like hair. <br/>Then the market fish arrived to the table. On the menu it said the market fish came with a salad and broth. There was no broth. Not bothered by this I continued to eat my meal. While I was mid conversation and half way through my meal a waitress arrives at the table unannounced, leans over me and starts pouring the broth. Would you not ask if I would like my last few mouthfuls of fish drenched in broth ? or apologize for forgetting it ?? āexcuse meā at the very least would have been nice. <br/><br/>The service here is appalling! <br/>all of our meals were just slapped on the table with an ā i donāt want to be hereā attitude. <br/><br/>Also although Iām not a vegan itās 2020 guys why do we need to discriminate someoneās food choices ? telling vegans to take a hike aināt funny. reading this on the menu didnāt sit right and I wish I followed my initial vibe I got from this place and went to Saint Alice instead. 12/10 would not recommend.

My friend and I working in the health industry, there is a 30% off drinks for us if we show ID. We only had a picture of it, and they didnāt accept it which was fine. However the treatment and attitude that came along with our drink was absolutely unacceptable. One female and male (black shirt). They made our drinks half assed and didnāt put the proper ingredients ( other people got limes but we didnāt). The male bartender gave us sassy replies when we jokingly said no one brings their work ID on weekends. All in all, I donāt think anyone should be treated this way.

Nov 2019.<br/>Late night drinking and dancing. <br/>Strange that one bar serves me a burbon & lemonade and a tap heinekin for $23 and another serves me that plus 2 gin & tonic and 1 burbon and coke for $52... How does that even make sense ? <br/>I feel sorry for the bar staff, saw quite a few tap and go's the got declined and there was no way they could really do anything about it.<br/>To the waitstaff guy who acknowledged that they can do table service and did so, you earned your tip mate ! Well done.<br/>Your DJ was absolutely shocking !!! Do they know even vaguley know how to mix ? And why was it on autoplay - no seriously - you played the exact same set back to back. One song the crowd was loving it next minute they hated it - it was because of the DJ !!

An Auckland hotspot! While the place is always buzzing, there is always service and timely food delivery. The prices were a but above what I'd expect BUT once you see the portion size and the quality of the food, you'll see you get what you paid for.<br/>$100 for 2 of us with drinks and a main each was a $100 well spent and would do again.<br/>Also, there's the added benefit of a great music, games and an outdoor seating area.<br/>A Viaduct must see.

We ordered the cheese on toast and the kingfish sashimi as an entree. The cheese on toast doesn't actually come out as cheese on toast its toast with cheese on the side but it was nice. I've had better kingfish sashimi elsewhere but non the less it was still decent. We also ordered "The HQ flame finished meat board" for 2pax. It was absolutely amazing. However if you're a large couple you would probably need a side dish like we ordered to really tie you over. We ordered the beer battered fries and they were delightful. The only down side is the music is abit loud for dining. Has more of a drinking atmosphere than eating.

Iāve ventured into HQ a few times now and the food always leaves me smiling. Not large portions but elegant comfort food that warms the soul. The evenings are a bit noisy for my aging ears but the lunch environment is perfect for a catch up with a friend or loved one. The staff are friendly and although the service can be a little slow all is forgiven because itās all so very good. Iāll be going back again.

Disgusting customer service by the bartender.<br/>We were having read through the menu and he decided to take it away since he was wiping the table.<br/>Ordered Chomp pale ale but received a monteith pale ale. He tried to argue that its a pale ale. Well they have their differences. After this he decided to charge us 3 dollars extra. Not sure if a person with an attitude and customer service skills like this should continue to work in this industry. Was a regular customer here but not anymore. Thank you for making our night on sunday 21st 2018.

Awesome place, can get a bit loud but the staff is really helpful in accommodating you. Very nice ambience and decor. The staff does makes an effort to make you comfortable which is quite good. One of the best medium rare steaks in town, not an iota of doubt over there. Spicy lamp cutlets were awesome too and we ordered one cheesy pizza that was too difficult to resist. We finished off with a board of cheese and accomplishments that were not a disappointment at all. And please donāt forget they have a freaking good collection of beer and whiskies. Would love to visit again and again, cheers

My partner and I had a great time at HeadQuarters. Our server was quick to seat us and checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our meals. Iām really taken aback by the reviews regarding service as the gentleman we had was lovely (we were there last Sat afternoon for lunch).<br/><br/>We got the Te Matukau oysters, Meat & 3 Veg and Wakanui Scotch Fillet. Oysters were a nice start, maybe just a little on the dear side though. Meat & 3 Veg was good but the Wakanui Scotch Fillet won me over. It came out perfectly cooked at medium rare and the sides gave the steak an extra oomph. Would definitely have it again!<br/><br/>If I rated the restaurant on food itself, Iād give it a 4 but with the service and experience a 4.5 is definitely well deserved.

After having some drinks at a bar nearby we decided to come here and have some food. When we arrived we waited 5 minutes at the front and no one came so I went and asked a waiter if someone was able to serve us as we wanted a table and he replied with attitude āwe are busy as you can seeā. And walked off. Awesome customer service skills. We continued to wait and not long after we were seen too and told to wait at the bar while they made a table for us (which was fine with us). As soon as we got to the bar we were approached by the owner who just came up out of the blue and asked if one person we were with was a gang member because if he was he wasnāt allowed to be here. Like are you serious? I didnāt see any sign anywhere saying āno gang members allowedā. He was a bit of a ass and kept staring at us but what ever. Anyways we sat down ordered our food and ate. All was well until we got up to leave and noticed the staff members notifying each other that we were done and leaving (as if we were about to leave without paying). Itās 2018. You gotta do better guys. You canāt judge people on how they look, dress or because they ride a bike. You also really need to work on your staff members customer service skills. Thanks for your awesome service and discrimination. Will not be returning here.<br/><br/>P.S your food is also very over priced for the tiny portion I got but that was the least of my worries.

Staff are rude and unhelpful. A colleague booked a table for my leaving drinks, we arrive, the table has people on it. Fair but there should be reserve signs with a time for anyone who knows how to run a bar. The manager or whoever she was was rude and told 15 of us to crowd around the end. We eventually left. Itās a shame such a beautifully done bar in such a great spot is ran by such shit staff.

Excellent place for Dinner, amazing atmosphere, excellent food, friendly staff. <br/>I had the skotch fillet (medium) and it was amazing. Other people on the table had Salmon, scallops, pizza and lamb rack and they all had positive feedback about the food. Music a little too loud to have a conversation around the dinner table but we managed ok, overall good place.

Great setting but the food is poor , by pass the pizza as very limp and bread like , fries with parmersan cheese <br/>and truffle something are not enjoyable to eat , but the staff are friendly and good.A good place to relax and have a beer.

This place needs to be shut down. Waiter had the audacity to rudely tell me about the nz drinking laws, implying I didn't know anything. I told him he was wrong and ordered him to grab the manager who obviously had more important stuff to do waiter comes back and decides to tell me he's new to nz and doesn't know them. Useless piece of shit. we gave up and left. Service is beyond awful, absolutely disgustingly rude staff and after reading other people's reviews I'm lost for words as to why it still exists.

Visited on Auckland Anniversary afternoon for a drink after dragon boat races at the viaduct. After ordering drinks and sitting down we were told by a waiter that we were in a part of the restaurant/bar that was meant to be for people who were ordering food. There were no signs telling us where we were allowed to sit and where we weren't, and some of us had ordered food as well (we were sitting outside in the "public space that is licensed. Enjoy!" as advertised on their blackboard). Other people at tables around us appeared not to be eating, so I'm not sure why we were discriminated against. The general atmosphere was not very welcoming, which is what I would expect of any hospitality venue, especially a new one that is trying to make an impression. In particular, the waiter in our area seemed like he didn't want to be there.The food might look appetising, but I won't be rushing back to a place that does not make its customers, no matter how much or little they're spending, feel welcome. It would pay management and staff to remember "no customers, no job"!

Do not go here, staff are absolutely rude!!! Overpriced food and Drinks. <br/><br/>Sign stated it was a public space enjoy it but we were told that it was part if the restaurant. <br/><br/>Staff seem unhappy to work on the viaduct! <br/><br/>Staff knocked over child and refused to apologise and swore under their breath. Tried to complain to management however we were told that it was our own fault. Disappointed

We popped in for a quick bite to eat on our way home.<br/><br/>The setting is rather quirky with a sports bar on one side and a restaurant on the other.<br/><br/>We ordered the Spanish Sausage Pizza with chilli, a glass of Moet (which was on a pre sunset special for $15 a glass) a tap beer and a mocktail. Our daughter ordered the truffle mash potatoes.<br/><br/>The service was friendly and efficient but the language of one of the staff members was pretty bad. To be fair I donāt think he took into account that he was in a public space.<br/><br/>All in all pretty average and I donāt think we will be back.

Ok, changing my rating from 5 to 1.<br/><br/>5th visit, worst experience ever this time. Had the owner come up to us and challenge why we sent two $48 wagyu hanger steaks back. Come on, see the photos Iām uploading. I was in Japan 6 months ago and spent a small fortune on Wagyu.<br/><br/>Steak was tiny, vegetables were under done and were non existent on a menu they advertise as āmeat and 3 vegeā.<br/><br/>Very very very disappointing.<br/><br/>Going over to Oyster and Chop for a real steak.<br/><br/>BTW, I entertain some of NZs most prominent people, I met you 4 months ago with 2 NZ celebrities, was treated with disrespect this time.<br/><br/>I was with one of New Zealandās leading doctors tonight. Wanting a low key but quality evening in the viaduct.<br/><br/>My original rating below......<br/><br/>Boom! $60 bottles of MoĆ«t?! Need I say anymore?!? Food is great, staff are great, jimmy Juice is great! Have been here many times to indulge in a bottle or two of MoĆ«t over looking the boats in the viaduct. Awesome!!

Visited Friday it was very breezy so asked wait staff if we could pull down shutters. Another person (appeared to be customer) kept shortcutting through the window opening the shutters. When I politely asked him to close after he used it he rudely replied I own this place!! Inferring he can do what he likes.!!! I was taken aback by his arrogance and when I suggested he only owned the place due to paying customers like myself patronising he yelled at wait staff (in front of other customers) to move those women now!! I suggested that our seats had better be the same standard or I wouldn't be paying for our lunch and was not moved. <br/><br/>Looking at other reviews and media Leo (owner) seems to act inappropriately on a regular basis.<br/><br/>Disappointing as I have visited many times with large groups and found the general staff excellent. A convenient located venue with a great vibe I will however not be rushing back or recommending this venue after this encounter.

Awesome vibe and restaurant decor! The chorizo sausage wood fired pizza I ordered was absolutely delicious. Good value wood fired pizza right on the viaduct. The fries were incredible too with the grana padano and truffle oil. Some of my friends meal portions were varied (ie. the duck was very small compared to the rotisserie chicken, yet they were basically the same price). Would come here again for more pizza and chips.

I went into Headquarters on Friday with a work colleague for lunch. It was reasonably busy and the staff were friendly and attentive. We got a drink and went through the menu and both decided on pizza. My colleague decided on a margarita and there were 2 sausage types, chorizo sausage, mozzarella and Spinach or pork sausage, broccoli and chilli. I asked the waitress if I could swap the chorizo sausage for pork sausage and she said no, I asked why this could not be done and she said chef only works off the menu āno exceptionsā. I then asked to speak to the floor manager and he said the chef will not do it, I asked were they pre-made (maybe that was why) and he said no. I said I am the customer and all Iām asking is a few pieces of sausage to be changed, could he please go ask the chef and guess what NO WAY. I told him the chef was arrogant and does not care about the customer and he agreed. My colleague was astounded at this as we are both in the service industry and if we ran our business like this we would not have one! I had the chorizo pizza and it was good and when paying I told the waiter the chef is arrogant and I was going to post about this on social media, he said I agree and do it!! I work nearby and have been in here for beers lotsā¦ā¦..well not anymore and I will ensure people I know donāt go either.

The John Dory was really delicious. Nice vibe and great service. Balinese interiors creates a lovely tropical atmosphere and the copper bar is beautiful. Recommend!

Came here for lunch with my family, we booked a table of around 10 people and tried to make sure we got one of the comfy table seats outside. We talked to them three times about this and even came in the day before to confirm. Firstly they tried to put us on two seperate tables and then placed inside which wasnāt ideal for what we wanted but itās alright. The pizzas we tried were really nice including the two vege ones the salami one which was quite spicy and also the salmon. Cocktails were decent, I had the espresso martini, which was nice, but I can make better myself and also the daiquiri which was really nice. They tried to have good service but wasnāt exceptional, it just seemed liked they forgot about us half the time as it took over 40 minutes to get my daiquiri cocktail. The decor and atmosphere was beautiful. Would like to come back for the comfy couch seats if there was better service.

Dropped in to HQ for a drink first time. Pleasantly greeted by staff. Restaurant was full. Atmosphere was bustling nice vibe a real mixture of people here. <br/>Seating in the casual bar area quite funky and good seating options. Service at the bar could be a bit friendlier. Will go again see what the food is like..

They have an massive screen in the bar area but played cartoons when I was in there on Friday night, even when the live band was playing. I went and complained to management at about 10pm when it was clear they were leaving it on the carton channel and asked them to flick it over to the Reds Brumbies game and the manager said they have no other channels. I said I knew they had sky sport because they screened America's cup the week before and he threatened to kick me out!! I said "no sweat, I'll go back to my seat for some more Looney Tunes"<br/>Really odd won't be going there to watch sport.

Group of us had lunch and a few wines the day we won the America's Cup. We ordered a selection of pizza, flat breads and fries. Salmon pizza was pretty good, best of the lot, Ā pork pizza was not available and not many chickens were harmed in the making of the chicken pizza. Flat bread was bland and shoe string fries were noting special. Fantastic location around large table ideal for our group. Service OK but we had to ask for water and they just didn't appear to be very organised. Probably would not go back.

This place has really good food and a prime location. The atmosphere is great and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It took over an hour to get our food but it was quite busy. Maybe next time it would be better if we were told about the wait beforehand

What? Open three weeks already, hottest place in the Viaduct and no reviews?? Where are you all my fellow unqualified amateur diners...? Ā Taking prime position in the Viaduct this new popup bar restaurant, reusing the name HeadQuarters from Beaumont St fame, is the new jewel in the crown of the many Viaduct eateries. Featuring a rustic but compelling interior, with bar area, dining area and watching sports area, HQ hits the spot in many ways. The giant sports screen was put to good use with music videos playing our favourites, and the food and service were top notch.... It is more fine dining than the atmosphere lets on, but we had an awesome time so will be back!
