We just moved to Whangaparaoa and had something to celebrate. Sheer luck we chose to go to Menopa and we had a wonderful meal! We will definitely go back!
Amazing service and the food is delicious. The chef came out and he has such passion for making his guests happy. Highly recommend the eye fillet.
If there was a 4.5 option, I would have rated it that. I have enjoyed each of my visits to this unpretentious little restaurant. It is relaxed, the service is friendly and efficient, and the food is very good. I have also enjoyed the wines I've offered. The mushroom ravioli in particular is fantastic. It is my favourite restaurant on the Coast.

On Tuesday 17th April I booked the restaurant for 18 fellow memebers of our walking group. We had not been there since the management changed. The food was cooked beautifully and the service was excellent but most of our group commented that the vegetable portions were very small and for the price we paid there was not enough to eat. The deserts looked delicious but again were very small and over priced. Fortunately we were given complimentary flat bread to start which thankfully helped to fill us a little. Please increase vegetables and size of deserts then we would willingly come again.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere and to top it of the waitress/waiter were amazing and knowledgeable. Definitely will be coming back. !!!! 😊
Awesome food and the chef is really nice.
Free cookies were also given as gift after meal.
I would definitely come again with friends in future.
Always really enjoy our time at Menopa, and the owner really cares about the food and wine list and this leading by example shines through in the staff - I really hope these guys continue to do well as it's hard to find a good Italian/European restaurant.
Four of us dined at Menopa. There was very good live music. They have a nice wine list and a bar but they allowed us to bring our own wine. Plenty of wait staff and they were nice and friendly. The food was great.
Just recently moved to whangaparaoa and was delighted to discover this lovely restaurant. Had steak and it was melting in the mouth! Mustard potatoes though that steak was served with were so so...nice looking pastas and pizzas, will be back to try those! Attentive service and the place was quite busy for a Thursday night.
Went here with two girlfriends one night for dinner, the restaurant is small but nice as it is a refurbished home.
The service here was really good! They were really busy yet we were sat quickly, our drink orders taken and the food came quite quickly too!
The food was good, nothing amazing or that I couldn't cook myself at home but it was nice. I had the spaghetti with meatballs, my friend had the seafood pasta and my other friend had the fettuccine.
I would come back if I wanted some takeaways it is very well priced, and was tasty for what it was.
Decided to have dinner here tonight as we realized it had changed owners. We were pleasantly surprised with the great food and warm welcome environment. The staff was excellent, and passionate about the food and drinks they served. We were extremely impressed and will most definitely be back....Thank you for a very nice evening.
New manager/chef has made a huge improvement. He is passionate about the food. The chicken breast is the most tender and moist I have ever had. When I congratulated him on that he explained how he achieved it - so it is repeatable and delicious. I had the Chicken Frangelico and was impressed by the subtleness of the flavourful (other chips have been heavy handed and made the liquor overpowering).
We regard this as our best local restaurant. The staff are warmly attentive, the food is delicious and on a cold evening the wood burner adds to the good atmosphere.
We had a wonderful meal, it was so good to try something a bit different. The service as attentive and. added to our dining experience. Thank you everyone for a lovely evening.
Wow! It has been a long time since I have eaten at an establishment of this quality. Outstanding customer service, great ambience and a lovley warm fire to sit by! The food was nothing short of spectacular. We had 3 courses of food and can't fault a single thing. Highly reccomend
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. After deciding to drop by on the way back from up north we found that we were a little early for the dinner service but they welcomed us in anyway. After placing our order for takeaway we were advised of the time needed in order to get the oven up to temperature for the garlic and parsley flatbread. We were given complementary soft drinks for the comfortable wait. A fire was started and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The waitress serving us was polite, lovely and very kind to our three year old daughter. After receiving our food we couldn't help ourselves and practically inhaled the flat bread on the way home in the car. It was delicious. Our little one finished an entire serving of the pork belly starter and we couldnt even approach the available crackling without a sorrowful pout. My partner enjoyed a buffalo mozzarella salad and described it as "AMAZING". I had the spaghetti puttanesca and dont think i would be able to find a more authentic dish on the coast, with subtle hints of olive, anchovies and chilli with the occasional bite of succulent lamb pieces. Duck fat chips were the icing on the cake. Crispy edged thick slices of potato with creamy aoli. We expected them to be greasy but we could barely taste the fat they were cooked in, the duck fat provided only a very subtle aftertaste. All in all a very pleasant experience and fantastic end to our weekend.
Fantastic food. Great service. Great variety. We had a lovely evening
We had a lovely meal last night at Menopa and although it was not full it certainly started to fill up as we left. Its popularity is increasing and we know why. The decor is fresh and soothing with a pleasant outside seat for that little drink in open air. A good menu with first class presentation and Lun (pronuonce Lune) coming out to see us and talk to his guests ensuring that he is on the right track. I had the Chicken and it was cooked just right nice and moist but cooked through, with a lovely mushroom sauce and the vegetables nicely cut and presented with real creamy mashed potato. Delicious ! I'm afraid we were too full for dessert (we had one of their garlic breads as a starter) but Lun kindly offered us a dessert wine which was really lovely. Talking to him he has traveled vastly spending time in France and it shows in his knowledge of wine and food, I would say he has a passion for it ! Also I must mention Sandja (and I'm sorry if that is not how its spelt) but she is lovely very smiley and obliging. I wish them every luck in this venture and we shall go back again as we have done previously. Pat Daw
