A beautiful spot for a meeting we recently had in the CBD. My flat white was the perfect temperature and flavour, big fan of the pies here as well. A beautiful space with all the white walls and exposed brick. James Ashwin Kakapo Business Sales

Very cute place! Has a nice range of food & coffee as well as drinks at night 🍹🍺 There is also free pool & darts. Good place to host events such as birthdays or team lunches 10/10

This was a great treat for lunch. The coffee was hot, with amazing food and friendly staff. Excellent good quality food with awesome pies and chips, my family enjoyed their meals and we'll be back again.

Delicious! Brought a pie to eat there and one to take home. A very relaxed and quiet, with enviable window seating. Bring a book, order a pie and tea, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Ok...I have to admit, it was not my intention to come here. I was really looking for The Grove and since they were closed this was right next door and up stairs. What an adorable place with a variety of fresh foods, filtered water, charming ambiance and a full bar of coffee, alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. No AC but the seating area is charming overlooking the near by park and church. And did I mention free wifi.

Amazing hidden location in central CBD with a great range of food and specials. They are wellknown for their pies which were a delight and very light, a platter for two was enough for four! Highly recommend this place.

It's a true Hidden gem. The owners won't let you down for any requests you make. Finger licking good food P.S: don't hesitate to ask for Sheesha

This is the best deal in town! We ordered full lunch meals for $15 each; mine was a Thai seafood green curry with salad and rice, my partner had steak with Mushroom sauce, Potatoes and salad. I also had a big yummy dark chocolate muffin and a mocha. The total cost was $40 - except when I went to pay they have me a 20% discount. So $32 for 2 high quality full lunches + muffin and coffee. They cannot afford these prices forever; this is a post-covid reopening deal. The curry was really delicious, as were the muffin and coffee. My wife would have preferred her steak less well done and more tender, but she praised the mushroom sauce. The space here is roomy and lofty with high ceilings and big windows, a view out onto Cathedral Square. The staff are lovely and solicitous. They are still improving everything and will soon have their acclaimed savoury pies. Enter from the Square and up a long flight of stairs.

We love Heaven Scent Food Co! From their warm and welcoming staff to on point coffee and delicious food. Not to mention the stunning loft space. We're regulars and will definitely be back soon. Thanks Heaven Scent Team.

Breakfast tart for $8 was delicious and the flat white coffee had a lovely caramel-esque quality. Well appointed room, and understandably very busy. Friendly and helpful service. I will be heading back here soon for a pie - they look amazing!

The staff here is so sweet and friendly. Their pies were fantastic. I tried all four of their mini pies that they had available - Moroccan lamb w lentils, coconut curry chicken and cashew, beef w blue cheese, and the pork something or other. Excellent food and excellent people right in the heart of Auckland

me my and great-great grandsons went there it was astounding! 5/5 stars, the food was breathtaking and my sons enjoyed the pies and how quicky the food came. I highly recomend!

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE ITS AMAZING!!!! Heaven Scent Bistro is by far the best bistro I have been to. De the owner honestly is such humble and honest guy. Overall I would give this place a 100 stars if I could, from the ambiance to the food to the hospitality. the food is to die for ( the chicken tenders are the best ) . De only cares about his customers so the pricing on everything is actually so shockingly low. $20 SHSIHA AND $9 SOJU!!!!!

Nice cozy place in the CBD. One flight of stairs up in first floor. Cafe is great. The place offers different seating options, so everyone should be able to find something comfortable. From the street you can only see the doors. Don't be deterred. Just go upstairs and have a look. You'll be surprised! It's a bit off the beaten path but that might be it's advantage. You probably won't find a lot of tourists there. Menu is the usual hit and cold beverages and selection of food. Give it a try!

Excellent range of good, honest, healthy food! The cafe, situated upstairs, has a great light, bright, cosy feel to it - in winter, when the rain is pouring, it's a neat spot to enjoy lunch and listen to the rain on the tin roof. HeavenScent are very popular for their range of gourmet pies. They're absolutely delicious but expect one to set you back about $9.They also do, family sized pies that you can take home and cook in your own oven. Also outstanding.
Rosaria Price
Affordable and super yummy. Do yourself a big favour and get one of the pies as this is what HeavenScent does amazingly -- sounds stodgy I know but they're served with a nice salad and they're the best pies in Auckland. Finish off with an ice cream!

Was staying in downtown Auckland for a business trip and came here for breakfast. It was busy but still easy to find a table and fast, friendly service. I got the museli with fresh fruit as I was feeling like something refreshing after pizza the night before - it hit the spot! Coffee was also good. Atmosphere was good but not quite sure what look they are going for, eclectic perhaps? Ornate chandelier, 60s style retro table and chairs and a modern take on the Andrews sisters (1940s big band jazz) on the stereo.
Lizzie
Had the lamb & lentil pie for lunch which was so delicious however the actual pie is quite small - could do with a bigger portion. Also had chips and they were freshly fried, super delicious!

A cute cafe with a cosy ambience, friendly staff and delicious food. Would be coming back for more and looking forward on their pies and new menu.
Nicola
Friendly staff, amazing food and beautiful cafe. Would return every day if I could. Had the super bowl off the menu that changes regularly so looking forward to try more

The set up of this restaurant is really cosy (they even have couches) and cute. They have a very simple menu with a few items however this restaurant still managed to have an amazing fully vegan dish. I ordered the beetroot/falafel super bowl with couscous and a bunch of vegetables which was delicious and healthy.

Relaxed ambience, spacious, fast service and most importantly delicious food. They offer a wide range of cabinet food - from pies, salads, sandwiches etc and their breakfast menu is inviting too. I had the slow cooked pork belly pie with grain salad and acai smoothies. I truly enjoy the pie from the tasty pulled pork and the fresh flaky crust. The salad was very appetising with its vibrant colour. The açai smoothies was just refreshing and nice. Great dining experience for us and will definitely come back to try the other dishes.

Pies and cabinet food look so good. Got the coconut chicken and cashew pie which was pretty tasty. Definitely want to come back to try other things. Very fast service too.

Ive been looking for an awesome pie and i found it at heaven scent!<br/>They have many varieties for pies, 9 nzd each<br/>I choose beef and pork, pork was a bit too salty, beef was amazing, it was served with a salad and sauce but i dont really like the sauce, its too sour to my tastebuds <br/>The place was very comfy too<br/>Price was slightly expensive in my opinion<br/>
Jay
The food here is amazing! I'm not certain, but pretty sure its all free range and organic too - and no major changes to the price which is great. The service is also really good and the amount of food you get for what you pay is really good value. Really healthy too.

Great little cafe in the heart of Auckland, the size portions in here are huge. My partner and I could have had one between us but glad we didn't since they were so good. Vintage look with lovely staff who went above and beyond to accomodate us especially since we were delayed and needed a charger, they also gave us the free wifi. <br/><br/>Sounds strange but I'm pretty sure I saw Lorde there (17th August) so if she was could you confirm this as I thought I was going crazy haha
Ravi
It's a call for all the foodies in Auckland. This restaurant is a must try. It takes a while to navigate to. Make the most of the GPS system built into your smartphones. It's a restaurant month this August so try the 2 course meal here with the drink. I must say it was the best use my 25 dollars. If it was possible I would have given this place 10 out of 5.

I like this place! Solely because of the food... I was really surprised by the tastiness of the cabinet offerings- I don't usually opt for salad options made in bulk from this type of place, (always seem too healthy and not enough flavour) but I would experiment with all of their cabinet offerings of this sort. Somewhat oddly, I felt, they had a wide range of 'hot cabinet'(?) offerings... pies etc, which seemed popular. Coffee was ok, service was ok. Decor was fine, felt a bit blokey somehow if thats possible.<br/><br/>Sounds like an average review for the score but somehow I did quite enjoy it and would definitely recommend for a quick but substantial lunch option.
Pamela Mansell
The coffee is terrible and the service is slow. Regardless of how many people are in the cafe there seems to be an incredibly long wait.<br/>The pies and the cafe setting are good but not worth drinking cold dishwater for.
Foodandwinefan
Beautiful little cafe net to the cathedral, coffee ok, food presented and with great flavors. menu has a good variety of options as well as tasty cabinet food choices
Elle
The ambience and interior of this place is amazing. In winter it is usually toasty warm and it is always very busy around lunchtime and often there is not enough seats at lunchtimes. The food is alright, quite a bit of variety in the cabinet. Service wise it is faced paced so not a lot of interaction. Probably wiser to pop in a bit before lunchtime!

This little cafe is a great place to get a yummy bite of soul food. The pies are all made from the kitchen along with their pastries and desserts, the salads are just as yummy to look at as they are to eat. Highly recommend stopping here for a bite.

This is my fave place by far in the CBD for a quick bite. The location is gorgeous. There's a serious aesthetic in this walk up cafe and the bay windows looking over the cathedral give a great perspective. The coffee is wonderful. And the food on offer has a healthy foundation that I find refreshing. I like my food craftily sourced. This cafe takes our health seriously, and never compromises taste. All around excellent place to take a break and nourish on all levels.

This is my coffee fueled oasis when i'm up in central Auckland!   Friendly team that knows me by my coffee orders, even tho i'm only up a couple of times a month. <br/>Great Hearty pies that the family size chicken coconut is becoming a regular after lunch take home for mid week dinners. ...So convenient and a great excuse to come back.

I have been here a few times and every time has been amazing! Great coffee. awesome food on display and the menu caters for everybody. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. <br/>Lovely open space with a relaxed atmosphere. <br/>Would recommend 100%. <br/>I hear they open for breakfast on Saturdays now too.<br/>Will be back!

Stopped in for breakfast while in Auckland for work as the reviews appeared to be positive...<br/><br/>Heaven Scent is a great looking venue, with a nice fit out and overall feel; the menu selection looked good, and food on display and countertop looked equally tasty. This was all looking very promising!<br/><br/>On the flip side and from this pint on I found the service / staff to be cold and disengaged, coffee wasn't great, and breakfast was 'meh at best.<br/><br/>Probably won't be back.

Amazing food and friendly staff..Best coffee in town made with EightThirty beans..the salmon benedict on bubble and squeak is great. Everything made on sight, fresh and free range 👌🏻🙌🏻

Came to this place to try their much-hyped up pies for lunch. The interior was lovely and the cafe was very busy. They also had a mouth-watering range of cabinet food that are reasonably priced ($4-5 for muffins and scones and $6-7 for wraps). However I decided to get the $15 pie and salad combo as it seemed to be their signature offer. <br/><br/>I was really disappointed. Firstly it was really expensive for what I got. The pie was really small and there really wasn't much salad for $6. If I knew this was what I was getting I would've gotten a salad separately which seemed like it was double the portion that I got.<br/><br/>I got the venison and sour cream pie with quinoa salad which was alright. The pie had a lovely crust but it tasted like a regular mince pie, nothing spectacular. The quinoa salad was really dry with no dressing on top, definitely a no-go for next time.<br/><br/>The waitress who served me gave a pie with their complimentary salad (which I didn't know about! Because otherwise I wouldn't have bought additional salad) but forgot the quinoa salad. Because I saw the complimentary salad, I told the lady that I would just have the quinoa salad takeaway. However she decided to chuck everything in a takeaway box and took away the chutney and complimentary leaf salad that originally came with the pie...<br/><br/>Overall I wasn't really happy with my experience there and probably won't go back again.

Went here for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. The cooked menu isn't extensive but what I got was delicious, Heavens Benedict with bacon (see photo). They do have a good range of cabinet food too, we got hot cross brioche yum. I also love the location of this place, bit hidden upstairs that you almost forget you're in the city.

this place seriously needs to up its game to stay competitive in the auckland market.<br/>i mean they have so many problems with so many systems and processes. firstly ive been in there a few times and i firmly believe their food is good and tasty. however we all have busy lives and the way the orders are taken and food is distributed is just all wrong. i waited 15 minutes in line to get to the front of the counter to pay. then it took 30 seconds for the transaction of actual customer contact to occur which felt rushed. then waited another 8 minutes before i got my Pie. i CANNOT imagine why the person at the counter or the BARISTA that is standing there doing nothing cant grab a food and give it to me. its not rocket science. the speed of service is terrible. i dont have time to wait 20 minutes for a pie then walk back to my office to eat it. this would consume the whole lunch break of any individual. im suprised they are still in business. perhaps the process at how you take orders needs to be reanalysed and assessed for service failure points and using a effective service blueprint may help you. not that i teach and own many hospitality enterprises of my own or anything : /

This place has the best looking cabinet in town! Boasting wraps, burritos, salads, and of course, pies, it's hard to choose just one. All the dishes contain fresh, vibrant ingredients, without being rabbit food. Come here for food with substance and quality ingredients. <br/>The pies have a hearty, substantial crust (ie not flakey) and robust fillings like lamb and lentil which is worth getting. <br/>

Heavenly gourmet pies and Rolls ...oh and a perfect marriage of iced tea and a yummy crunchy on the outside but soft inside coconut&strawberry muffin👌🏼 Mmmm...

I had a pork belly pie and a raw cacao smoothie. The pie was a little bit salty for my tasting. The smoothie was ok. And the pie was over priced at $9.00!! Overall, my experience was below expected.

Heaven Scent has great atmosphere. Their pies are really nice. <br/>(Top left )Pork belly pie with kale salad.<br/><br/>(Right) Beef & blue cheese pie with rainbow tabouli. <br/><br/>Both pie crust were crispy, not soggy.<br/><br/>The pork belly was tender and soft. Pork belly tasted quite Asian but I like it. I guess they added staranise, cinnamon, fennel seed and garlic. <br/>Beef and blue cheese pie was fantastic. I love this. Sadly, the rainbow salad didn't taste as good as the pie and the portion is a bit small for me.<br/><br/>In general, their food are pretty good. It's a great place to hangout with your friends.

Made a quick visit a few weeks ago to try their pumpkin and feta pie, great place with friendly staff. Did not try the coffee but a friend said it was very strong - will come back to try myself.

Amazing place to have lunch if you want to feel a bit lavish <br/><br/>Heaps of varities from pies, salad and sandwiches. I had a smoked frittata which was fresh but nothing particularly special. Their baked slider burgers and brioche goods by the counter looked amazing <br/><br/>I will definitely go back for a pie next time round
Manic Diner
Heaven Scent has an amazing relaxed atmosphere..the vibe is really chill and I love the seating... you're not boxed in like you would be in so many inner city cafes where it caters more to numbers than comfort. The cabinet food alone is tempting. I ordered the braised pork belly pie and sweet brioche to take away with a celestial berry smoothie. If I wasn't in such a rush to get back to work I would have happily stayed there for a leisurely lunch. The brioche was ok but that pie was simply delicious, full of yummy goodness..loved the celestial smoothie too!

Got a grabone half price voucher for this place. Almost expired (3 days left) but we made it in for breakfast which was beautiful. Best eggs bene I've have in the last 5 breakfasts (I can't help but order eggs bene for bf). Great atmosphere, great coffee. Ingredients must be of high quality. Will become a regular! Giving them 5 to try bump up their average :)

Heaven Scent is a nice little space upstairs from St Patrick's Square. I particularly liked the airy light-filled space and the assortment of wooden furniture. Service was impeccable and the staff super nice. One cool thing about them is instead of getting a number when you order, you get this cool painted wooden letter to take with you to a table of your choice.<br/><br/>I've heard people rave about Heaven Scent pies, so I was determined to try one with a side salad. I went at around 10:30am and surprisingly their vegetarian pie wasn't ready yet so I was told I had to order something else! A bit disappointing, but since I eat meat too I finally opted for the braised pork belly with Shaoxing wine gravy pie. I always think braising meat makes it quite reminiscent of Asian cuisine (this is a good thing) and with a nice rice wine gravy, what could go wrong. I was worried the gravy would be very rich with the Shaoxing wine taste, but it wasn't. In fact, I could barely taste it at all, but it probably was there in a modest amount because there was a nice aftertaste in my mouth. The pie's crust was done very nicely with a sprinkling of sesame seeds, although the bottom was a bit too thin and both broke extremely easily and got soggy by the time I'd progressed halfway through the pie. The pie isn't huge, but it's so tasty it's worth it. They have such interesting fillings here, honestly. The braised pork looked very fibre-y but was actually quite moist and tender. There were some chunks of potato or some starchy kind of vegetable, but whatever it was it added to the texture nicely. Pity about the pie bottom. The pie came with a tomato and ginger chutney which added a bit of tartness to the meat pie.<br/><br/>You had three choices for salads: a brown rice one, a pasta one, and a leafy basil-heavy one. I ended up going for the pasta, because I eat rice all the time at home anyway, and it was a delicious cheesy tomato-y penne. It was more mellow tomato sauce dominant rather than tart like the chutney. The penne were cooked to perfection, thankfully not too doughy but also not soggy either. It had been tossed with some blue cheese chunks and spring onion. I quite liked the penne salad.<br/><br/>All in all, pretty good food and very nice space. It's also quiet despite being in the heart of the CBD and many businessmen seemed to favour it for a brunch spot. They do claim free wifi, but I think you have to ask. I wish more establishments would think to ask instead, or maybe I just need to be more confident. They also have a huge selection of cabinet food which all looked scrumptious. Zomato doesn't have a full menu up atm, but between all the photos you can definitely see they've got a wide range. Pie fillings are unique and to die for. A must visit!

Clean and spacious decor but it felt impersonal. Service was efficient but not particularly friendly - if anything the speed of service felt more about moving us on than providing lunch at any speed. I tried one of the pies on recommendation and opted for the beef and blue cheese. Foolishly i had assumed at a $9 price tag it might be either quite large or served with some sort of side. It was served on a plate no larger than a saucer - with plenty of room left by the pie. While very tasty it was hardly satisfying and certainly not good value for money. My wife ordered bacon hock soup, expecting something quite hearty for this wintery afternoon. She reported that the soup was disappointing and quite 'watery' <br/><br/>"Scent" over substance i am afraid.

Great space by St Patrick's Square, above Sumo Sushi and next to The Grove, where the popular Ding How Chinese Restaurant used to be many years ago.<br/><br/>Nice range of cabinet food and salads, and of course pies, as this is the permanent home of the excellent Heavenly Pies we have tried at various markets.<br/><br/>The scotch egg we ordered was a bit average, being reheated cabinet food, but you could have a very enjoyable meal by sticking to pies and salads.
YellowBlankets
Another nice spot for lunch in town! It's big and spacious with not too many seats so unlike at most cafes you don't feel cramped at all. Coffee is superb; one of the best flat whites in town!<br/><br/>They have an array of hot gourmet pies to choose from; they're $9 each, a bit pricey for a pie. I don't know if I would pay that much for a pie again but if you're a pie lover you might want to. The homemade pastry is delicious and the filling is rich and flavorful. My pork belly pie was so filling I could only finish half and took the other half home for next day's lunch!<br/><br/>They also have soup of the day and a small selection of slices, salads, tarts and savory baked goods to choose from. If you're feeling like a more substantial lunch there's combo of a pie, salad and organic soft drink for $16.50.
