Review Williams Eatery - Auckland Central

Love the service here and the quality of the food. You know it's good when the chef changes the menu. This particular time we had the steak, and baps with bacon. All on point.

Super delicious food. I really appreciate the thought which has gone into their menu. It has a great range and is thoughtfully planned with delightful selection. I really like that the menu items are unique, it’s not something you’d make at home or find at every other eatery. Of course there are some staples as well like eggs on toast which are beautifully done with a twist eg tornado egg and freshly baked bread. I ordered the mushroom garlic rice bowl. Absolutely scrumptious. They also do some of the best tahini cookies in town!

Lovely brunch in Auckland. We thoroughly enjoyed the menu here, the service was quick and the food was tasty. We had flat whites and mimosas, sat in the sun in a bustling environment. For our food we chose the poached eggs on sourdough with a side of smoked salmon, and the blueberry French toast. Really really good. The best brunch we had in Auckland.

This is a nice spot. The staff were super friendly and the avocado toast, beans and the berry tonic that I got were spot on.

Had a great breakfast here and will be back again. The food was cooked to perfection, from the eggs to the way the bread was cooked. Highly recommend the chargrilled pita and the Nduja eggs on toast! They use flight coffee beans and the coffee was great too. Great atmosphere and was perfect during a sunny day to eat in the outdoor seating.

Great food and great drinks! I love the location and the building that the cafe is in. Perfect location for a nice break from work to meet with friends. Sometimes the waiters gave off an annoyed look, you can sense that they’re stressed.

Interesting menu, great seating arrangements, great atmosphere . Frech toast was delicious but too soggy Scrambled eggs on sourdough was yumm Coffee was great. Service was great at the beginning & went downhill after we placed our order Just saying … for that price the french toast should have come with more stuff

Came here when it first opened and was taken aback by the large portion for a lunchtime menu, could have easily been a dinner portion. The pasta was not bad flavour wise, it was simply a lot of heavy food. Was impressed by the interior and the atmosphere in the eatery was lively with a lot of professional folk from around the viaduct coming in for coffee or food.

waited 13 mins for drinks order and another 22 mins to receive them. Staff were not doing very much hence ordering a take away coffee. Coffee was strong allowing the 1/5 star. Vapid and pretentious. Unnecessary music blasting with bad acoustics. Big L

Been a couple of times for takeaway coffee and the service is very slow. Coffee also served lukewarm, not ideal after a long wait.

Gnocchi with mushrooms. Waffles with bacon and butter. They has changed the menu and I prefer the previous menu. Was a busy breakfast after the lockdown but still nice 👍

Best scrambled eggs in Auckland hands down. Staff is extremely helpful and have amazing customer service. Amazing prices for quality food.

Best burger I’ve ever had.. and I mean that

Great coffee, especially the iced mocha. Unfortunately the fried chicken looked awesome and super crispy but had no seasoning at all. The heirloom tomatoes side was supposed to come with eggplants and pickles but it was actually more like a baba ghanoush rather than eggplants, and no pickles. The staff is super friendly but it's really hard to get their attention on a busy day. I'd have consumed more items if I could get more of their attention, I tried but just couldn't order a second coffee.

Been here last year. Lovely food, welcoming staffs. Planning for another dining shortly.

Friendly staff and amazing service, excellent food and coffee. Been here for a wine (or two) and the list is fantastic and unique! I'll be back soon.

Absolutely loved the food and service, could not fault a thing!

Food amazing service appalling - and maybe you guys might want to check the reason for the fruit flies and also if the dishwasher needs a service

I came here to try their coffee. I think they use flight coffee and i ordered flat white. It was pretty good and latte art was decent. Next time i def want to try their food menu.

Had the beef shin tagliatelle pasta and a glass of pinot noir. Cant believe it cost only $23 for the two! Pasta was delicious, heaps of meat and packed with flavour. It went really well with the wine. The pasta texture was too al dante but maybe that's what Italian pasta is meant to be like.
Great attentive service despite our table being outside and it being a busy night.

Cute cafe, love their deco and ambiance. Great service every time, friendly faces and quick service. Coffee is good, and their menu has some interesting items. Pictured are the scrambled eggs with a side of mushrooms, a filing dish that I couldn't finish alone. Would definitely recommend and often return :)

Williams is definitely the kind of place you wouldn’t spot as you walk along since it’s rather distant from all the other spots on Wynyard Quarter but that’s not necessarily a bad thing given that this hole in the wall will have you begging for more from the very start with their Kumara Bread and Butter. The menu is small but that’s clearly an indicator over their pursuit of quality over quantity. They have a very simple ambience and friendly wait staff with an interesting collection of craft beers. Would definitely recommend!

Went here for lunch. Food is delicious. The coffee is also good. Was strolling around the area, came across this neat cafe. Nice ambience. Have outdoor seating, great for pets

Williams Eatery marks itself as the fifth cafe I have tried from Urban Lists Best Brekkie Cafes in Auckland. I can definitely see why it has made it on the list. The look of the cafe, decor, tables and design is very modern. I came here with my husband on a Sunday morning so we had to pick from the Brunch menu.

This menu was very different compared to any other brunch menus we have come across. I felt the brunch choices were very different to what I was used to: cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, no main dishes centred around bacon etc. So I struggled to decide which dish to eat. However, I appreciated the fact that this menu catered to various dietary requirements: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free.

I ordered the hotcakes. I can hands-down say they were the BEST hot cakes I have ever had at a cafe before (or the best hot cakes I have ever had, period). They were light. They were fluffy. The crumb on top gave that sweet crunch. It was so delicious! That mandarin curd was creamy and smooth. There was a generous amount of brown butter on top. All in all, it was an incredible dish! I love that there were only a few elements to the dish, but the few elements were executed to perfection! Butter, crumb, curd & two hotcakes. Superb!

My husband ordered the Beef Ragù with a fried egg. The beef just pulled apart and was so tender. Seasoned well & presented beautifully. Tasted beautiful.

They use flight coffee. It was made well. Not burnt.

Ultimately, you can tell the produce they use here is fresh and quality. Overall, food was incredible! Service was good. We weren’t waiting too long for our dishes to arrive; and when they did arrive, it was definitely worth the wait!

I have been here a couple of times now and just don't quite connect with the place , I don't believe that it is anything special. Everything is rather so so, where I don't have deep complaints, I just don't have a full admiration for it.

The aesthetic of the place is nice but rather lacks a bit of character or a true identity. The decor is current and on trend. However, it is just a bit clinical and stale.

The staff were friendly and very nice, but unfortunately I have found the service to be a bit slow, especially last time I went, I felt it took far too long for meals to come out. My coffee was finished and I was ready for my second before the food came out which was disappointing. Unfortunately food was also forgotten, I admit they were busy but I have seen much busier places cope significantly better. However, this issue was rectified as, the food did come out after asking and was also removed from the bill.

The food is nothing spectacular. There was a winner; the hash browns which were delicious and a good option for a brunch menu. I had eggs my way and unfortunately found them to be far too salty for my liking. Despite this, the eggs had good texture and the bread was good. My partner had the granola, which was tasty and liked the fresh raspberries. Unfortunately found this was too dry, as it only came with small amount of coconut ice-cream (which was really nice, just needed more). There were limited gluten free options which was disappointing as this is a big thing when dining out for me and my partner as she is gluten intolerant. The coffee I must say was good here and would definitely recommend.

Overall, this place is good but nothing special. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. It's a good option when down in that area, but it is nothing spectacular. I feel the place lacks a bit of an identity and for me the food needs improvement.

First time being here.
Food was amazing. Specially the Couldy Bay Clams and the Broccolini. It was my fava.
Chavasa chips was first time trying. It was a bit different to other chips I had, a bit hard to eat.
Service was good.
Parking is easy find.

Overall
Food: 8/10
Service: 8/10
Cost: 9/10

Staff are awesome which is a big part of my 5 star rating. Came here on a Sunday and we were served by Jacob who was very attentive and made sure we were happy with what we ordered. You can tell the ingredients are good quality and the presentation is unique. In regard to the cost, the relaxed atmosphere of the place and being served by great staff makes it all worth it. If in the area, will definitely be back.

Food was just so good. Did take the pictures after the first few bites 😉 btw place has amazing vibes. Ingredients are high quality and it offers some quite inspiring dishes! Have been here for breakfast and lunch two days in a row. Definitely recommending it, if you’re a true foodie with a nag for good wines. Service was very friendly and coffee is 10/10

Have to say I was pretty underwhelmed with this place. For starters, there's no indication on their website that Sunday is an all day brunch menu. We ordered oysters and bread for an entree and when the mains arrived it was clear we weren't getting those. My first choice was not available as they'd run out of flatbread which left me with only one vegetarian alternative. The food itself was good and although the wait staff were personable and friendly they were actually pretty useless on what wasn't even a busy day (we were one of three tables). One of our crew ordered an espresso martini but was informed they'd run out of vodka ... seriously? what licensed premise with a small cocktail menu allows themselves to run out of vodka leading up to Christmas? And come to think of it, what was in our bloody marys then?We had 4 bloody marys, 4 mains, 3 deserts and two bottles of wine and my quarter of the bill was $107. Overall not a great experience and not value for money. Considering the plethora of really good eateries around this area, these guys can't afford to be this haphazard. I won't be returning

Came here on a quiet Tuesday mid morning while working nearby. It was warm, modern. Coffee ok but it’s hard to not make a short macchiato bitter. It was made up for by the plate of awesome I was presented with next. Grilled Eggplant with a serve of salmon - yum. The salmon was some of the best I’ve had.

Rocked up around 5/5:30 hoping to get a decent meal to be told they were in the middle of changing menus even though I took the liberty of checking their website beforehand to check the menus and found no kitchen opening/closing times ( + they have an “all-day” menu?). The waitress was thankfully able to sort us out with the dumplings and chips which were really nice, although I really didn’t like the aioli being smeared along the inside of the chip bowl, made it really hard to actually get a decent amount of sauce in. #firstworldproblems

Service was average, felt a little hurried by the lady that served us even though the place was empty apart from the owners occupying the nicest table in the place sipping wine. I didn’t find it to have any real atmosphere but might have caught them on a bad day, will be back if it’s convenient but won’t go out of my way. 2 star as my overall experience was below average but I get the vibe it’s not often like that. Edit: changed to 1 star because owner is stuck up

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. LOVED the decor of this new place in Wynyard Quater! Arrived at 7:45 with no booking it wasn't to busy. The waitress informed us that weekends are busy and very loud. The food was amazing!! Had the Burrata for entree and Pasta for the main which was lovely! the waitress was very helpful with the menu and recommendations. overall I would highly recommend this place!!

Food and beverages ordered: Beef cheek fritters, breakfast sandwich and coffee

Environment: trendy and urban

Services: very friendly

Costs: $25 per person on average

Will I return: yes

Comment: Food is great, beef cheek are crunchy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside, breakfast sandwich is big and hearty, and an awesome choice on a hangover day.

Let me just say. Their Breakfast Sandwich (Number 2) is so freaking good. You have the patty, the fried egg, coleslaw, sriracha mayo sauce in a brioche bun. The flavours just match so well together! Their coffee is also a plus, they use Flight Coffee too! My friend ordered their Wild Rice Bowl which is a healthier option! The interior of the cafe gives off a minimalistic and industrial vibe! Friendly and welcoming staff! Love it.

LOVED the halva hotcakes at Williams! It's not the same as your usual stack of buttermilk pancakes - instead you get one huge pancake that's super crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! Each cut was quite bouncy and the pairing with sesame cream, freeze dried raspberries and pistachios are absolutely flawless! The pickle also added some acidity which balanced the overall taste! Will definitely go back.

Been following their instagram for a while but havent had the chance to visit. Turned out they’re just a few steps away from my workplace. We came for a lunch and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Decoration on point! Food was amazingly delicious. We ordered the chips and beef. Chips was so far the best one I’ve tried. The radish served with the beef was so good, it balanced all the flavour. I love how they served drinks with the metal straws. Great kombucha. Definitely will come back for more. Highly recommend this place!

Decided to check the eatery out as it’s brand new in the area and I’ve not been back to Wynyard quarter for awhile and it’s just under the new apartments away from the main strip. We had lunch for 6 and the food was fantastic including the coffees (flight beans) . Very attentive staff and the market fish was spot on ! Will try the egg burger/tower sandwich next time too , looks amazing and highly recommended !

Busy Saturday brunch, lots of cool kids, we sat outside which was nice. Food overall was good but could tell the kitchen and staff under the pump, likely a victim of their own early success. Food took quite a while to arrive [worse for other tables] and the staff forgot to bring basic things to our table on 3 seperate occasions - bugs me when wait staff don't write anything down and then forget parts of your order. Just get a notepad hun...

Very hipster place. Staff were friendly. Menu small with different dishes to your norm. I had the health bowl with salmon, really tasty, fresh, quality ingredients used. Would definitely recommend this dish if you are after a healthy brunch option.

A new addition to the new food scene in Wynyard Quarter, Williams Eatery is a must visit. I came here for lunch on a Tuesday with my foodie friend and I only have positive things to say about this place.

Ambience: Cosy and modern. Love the warm tone lights and the plants. The seating arrangement couldn’t be any better. Big fan of high ceiling, making the place more spacious.

Service: Everyone was friendly, especially our waiter. He was attentive and super helpful. He gave excellent recommendation too. The food came out in a reasonable time frame.

Food: We ordered the Health Bow and the Market fish (this varies). Best fish dish I had in a long long time. It was Pan fried snappers in a pineapple dashi broth with soba noodles and herbs. Super fragrant, refreshing and comforting. I kept telling my friend how good it was while eating. My friend love her Health bowl as well.

Definitely a must-visit place for Auckland foodies. Worth every penny.

This place rules. Get the mushrooms and cassava chips. Service is always amazing, coffee is the best in Auckland. RIP Ceremony. Go here. The food gets me from an emotional level, not even being hyperbolic.

In loveeeeee! New favourite lunch spot. When the menu read pastrami I was thinking a very thin and small portion of it. This was way more than expected and 10/10 for taste. Not overwhelming and not underwhelming, just perfect 👌

I've eaten here a number of times, it's my new spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon drinks. The Market Fish is ALWAYS delicious and fresh based on what the catch of the day is from their local supplier. Coffee is excellent and service is fantastic. I never want to leave.

Food : 4/5
Ambience : 4/5
Service : 5/5

Visited Williams eatery on the weekend, love the simple clean white and wood vibe, service was great surprisingly not snobby at all, very friendly and helpful.
We chose to dine here as their menu seemed the most interesting and not the drab typical brunch items. Let me tell you, interesting and delicious it was.
We ordered the Charred Eggplant, Beef rib roll, Mushrooms, Goyza and a Pastrami sandwich from the window.
The charred eggplant was most tasty, juicy and the condiments paired with it were interesting and worked so well. The beef rib roll also very flavorful and not dry at all + generous amount of meat. Mushrooms were a great surprise! They didn't taste like any old mushrooms dish. I know, I'm going to say the word again but it must be said, they had such a strong delish mushroom taste / fragrance. Goyza seemed very genuine and home made. Lastly the pastrami sammy we ordered from the window was also a winner. All these dishes had an subtle Asian twist on them which we really enjoyed.

Had a great experience at Williams this weekend. Went for my mums bday brunch and the food was delicious! We both had the avocado toast with gluten free bread (which was homemade!), poached eggs and mushrooms and it was really flavourful and satisfying. I’m always impressed by a good gf loaf, and this one was particularly memorable! We also shared their “tender leaves” salad which was so light and refreshing! It came with candied nuts, blue cheese and some kind of fruit. It was the perfect combo!

We actually ended up going back the next day since we happened to be in the area again, and I was able to try the health bowl which was also very good! They were really accommodating to my gluten sensitivity and the chef made me a special gf dressing to go with it instead of the usual miso one. Really impressive!

Their coffee is also super tasty! Ambience is nice and good outdoor seating area. Will definitely be back!

Great to have another new eatery in Wynyard Quarter, but at the same time different to the others.
It is situated under a block of the new appartments so a long building with lots of light & good seating options.
Service was friendly & prompt.
Menu is reasonable in size with a few unique options. Some are pricy & not necessarily large, but the quality is evident.
Our group had 2 eggs - one with bacon & one with Avo. Also the beef rib x 2, the eggplant (a little on the small side) and the health bowl with salmon. A were delicious.
The housemade lemonade was tasty - they also have other options including beer & wine.
Overall a great experience - we will be back
