Review Da Vinci's Italian Restuarant - Auckland Central

The place is casual and cozy inside. Great selection of wines and beers. Beautifully made dishes. My risotto was superb. Desserts were delectable but not overly sweet. Would definitely recommend.

The best Italian restaurant in Auckland. Great service, delicious food and fair price. The pasta was great, the sauce was unique and the Tiramissu was the best I have tasted in my life!

Our first impromptu dinner out in the New Year saw us venture into a very busy and popular Da Vinci’s as we had a hankering for Italian food and this restaurant was open for service without reservations being taken. Fortunately we were immediately seated as we arrived and the ambiance of the restaurant was buzzing with many nationalities and many satisfied smiling patrons. The staff was fantastic and highly attentive from the moment we entered. For entrees we tried the Three Cheese Pizza bread and the Pumpkin Soup with focaccia and these meals were delicious and the perfect start to the night. Following on, we ordered the Beef Lasagne and Spinach Ricotta Ravioli which were delicious and so flavorsome. I enjoyed an amazing glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Our dining experience was exceptional and I look forward to returning back to try other dishes I was deliberating over. Highly recommended!

This restaurant serves mainly pasta and pizza! My friends and I ordered the gnocchi pasta that was recently added to the menu, and a hawaiian pizza. The pasta was really good, with a taste of garlic and olive oil, and slight spiciness. The gnocchi was nice! Pizza was well-cooked as well. Do note that still water is charged to your bill, so you may want to check if there are any water that’s free of charge. I find it a little pricey and portion isn’t too big but the quality made up for it. Overall, a 3.8 star!

Food was good, dessert and beverages good. Service was Scattered but everyone was friendly and food was hot. Portions were right sized as was not over full was just right.

Great service here at Da Vinci's. Been walking past this place for years now and we decided to have a team lunch here. Had the Spaghetti Bolognese and the serving was generous with an authentic taste to it, although a tad bit runny, but it was fine. Will definitely come back here to try other dishes on the menu. The staff were very welcoming and always attentive to our needs as a group.

Very delicious and authentic Italian food! We ate a 3 course meal. Garlic bread, spaghetti bologna and Panna cotta! 😋
Chicca Fumagalli
Good food, polite staff and nice atmosphere.

Food was good. Not fancy but an enjoyable meal on the patio. We had the lasagna, which was good but different than you'd expect. Mostly meat vs cheese. Dessert was delicious. Chocolate cake with gelato

Great restaurant in a very centric spot! The food was really good with reasonable prices and a good attention to the customer. It has a nice deck outside perfect for sunny days.

Most authentic italaina pizza I've ever had. Every ingredient was fresh and totally delicious

Great food. Awesome selection and variety. Everyone in our party of 6 enjoyed what they had. The service was fantastic. A good bit of humor thrown in too. Made for an enjoyable evening. Would happily go again.

Best Italian in town. I’m a regular customer for over 4 years. Food and staff are amazing. Salmon Salad is very nice and cooked to perfection. I’ve tried their pizzas many times and I’ll 100% recommend them. if you are looking for a nice authentic Italian restaurant give it a try and complete your visit with a glass of their Italian wines.

I always come here whenever I crave pasta. But their serving size changed lately, used to be a lot🤔. Service is okay.

Very nice little restaurant. Would go again. Great for families or couples. Classic Italian dishes made well. The owner made us feel very welcome and the waiting staff were warm and unobtrusive.

Had a wonderful experience for team lunch yesterday. Food was amazing all ten of us couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend for delicious Italian food.

I looooveee this place! Had the best pasta from this place and the staff are so welcoming. Had the best service from them. The humble owner was also very friendly and fun to talk to! Would recommend this place for pasta to all my friends. I really enjoyed my dining experiences here. This place deserves a much higher rating!

Lowest rating i have ever given for a restaurant. Nice atmosphere when we walked inside, we were greeted warmly and we assumed the food would be good. We were very wrong, the minestrone soup was very bland and only a bowl of mush. No vegetable's or lentils in sight, tasted like cabbage water. The server didn't understand a lot of english, and was confused by multiple words on the menu. Very unsatisfied after our meal, the portions were pathetic for such high prices. Go somewhere else more worth your time and money!

The worst Italian Restaurant I have been to in ages. Staff were clueless and needed order repeated twice. Entree and main arrived at the same time - I sent the pizza back and had the minestrone which was blended. Felt like I was in a nursing home. Pizza re-appeared 40 minutes later, the same one. It was doughy and stale. I eventually got water after the pizza arrived. Staff didn’t seem concerned that the pizza wasn’t touched. Hurry up and close your doors already- a disgrace for $55.
Satiam Sharma
Horrible food and even worse service - rudest people I have ever come across that own or work at a restaurant! Watery, bland pasta is their specialty. Your money is definitely better spent elsewhere.

Had dinner here the other night as we went out for a family night. Had such an awful meal here oh my. Horrible service had to do half of the waiters jobs ourselves like packing up our menus ect., the food was so gross and I didn’t even finish it because if I had another taste I would’ve vomited, the presentation was absolutely yuck. Nothing even worthy to take a photo of because the lighting was also so bad. Really not impressed.

Ordered an Italiano Pizza. You'd expect, by definition all pizzas have a tomato base and cheese. Well not at Da Vinci. Just a tiny circle of cheese and tomato in the middle, like 10% of the pizza surface. For $23, that's a rip off. I complained to the waitress, she went inside the kitchen and never came back. The guy at the cashier asked me how was my meal. I said unsatisfactory and I already complained and was waiting to hear back He didn't say word, asked me if I wanted my receipt and looked down. Since we are required to be polite on Zomato, I didn't want to even think what they can do with the receipt.
Always look at the bad reviews of a restaurant first, not the good ones.
Bnh2639
Absolutely absurd. The boss here took the tip I gave to the waitress. It sickens me to see greedy people like that. I really wish people would sincerely say something about it to the boss.
Food2belly
My first and not my last ever gnocchi and damn it's heavenly. It's rich and melts in your mouth. A pasta dish fit for a cheese and pesto lover 🤤 Pizza bread don't understand how a simple dish can be done so well. Packed with garlic flavors!

First thing i saw as we walked in was a 'Experienced Help Needed' sign on the front door, this should have been the biggest red flag, we sat down and ordered per the usual, we start talking and dont realise that 30mins has gone by.
Our waiter then comes up and tells us he will check on the order, he does and comes back telling us it will be another 15min wait for food. Now i don't know about you but that seems like the waiter DID NOT put the order in to the back kitchen and started then.

Decent food, Bad service.

Food was good, except the quantity was so small for the price, and having to pay $4.50 for 5 little teeny tiny morsels of chicken, not worth it. Not to mention having to tip, even though the food already costed so much. This isn't America.
Imogen Trupinic
I'm giving this place a straight 3 because it is genuinely a mixed bag and then another 0.5 because I will be back regularly over the years due to it's proximity to my work and it being a common choice for my workmates to have lunch at. Service is very friendly. Prices are a bit costly for what you get. Pizza dough is cooked to perfection. Pizza topping combinations could be picked better. Pasta is fabulous. Food quality is overall good but nothing amazing - it's acceptable for casual dining at lunch. Music choice doesn’t quite match the setting (rap and pop). Decor is nice.
Ailsa Mitchell
Great food, great service. The chicken and mushroom fettuccine was so full of flavor. I loved my cannelloni beef, was so light and tasty. Pity about the weird chose of music. Tiramisu to die for. We will be back.

Went there for dinner while on holiday in Auckland. Found it to be below average. My entree was a bid of lettuce and cheese and salami thrown together.... no seasoning, and my drinks were empty majority of our meal and never got refilled. I would not recommend dining here.
Marisha Haasbroek
We had a quick lunch Tuesday afternoon. Excellent service from the waitress! The food was delicious, especially the 3 cheese bread on the entree menu. We ordered from their normal menu but have fantastic lunch time specials. Would definitely recommend.

Nice place walkable distance from sky tower decent ambiance, had ordered carbonara pasta was good, Food is less in quantity, good in quality 😋I would recommend this place.
João Plácido
Went there for the first time.
The staff are very friendly and the conditions are good and the prices are affordable.
Regarding the food I tried the fettuccine carbonara and I was expecting more.

Very disappointed!! While staying in downtown Auckland my wife and I decided we wanted to try some Italian food. This restaurant was convenient to our hotel however it had some marginal reviews. We decided to give it a chance anyway. What a big mistake!

After being seated and providing our server the order everything went downhill. There were several open tables when we arrived and many of them received their dinners before we even had our salad delivered to our table. Very important on this point, our order had been placed before the diners at the other tables had arrived at the restaurant!!!

One can let an experience like this go however we were fed one excuse after another as to why it took over 60 minutes for anything to be delivered to our table. We heard several times that they were sorry however we never heard them accept responsibility!

Our advice, go somewhere else for any kind of food you want. Especially Italian! The irony to this story is that as we walked out we noticed a sign in the door advertising for "experienced help"! We suggest the owners start with the individual that represented himself as the manager. Not even remotely capable of managing.

Sorry but this restaurant needs some serious help!

Our first night in Auckland we were walking around trying to find a place for dinner, we find this place and saw a few people eating here so thought it must be good. We were seated outside, ordered a beer and garlic bread to start off with. Since I had a bit of a cold I thought a nice pumpkin and chicken risotto would hit the spot. My partner ordered the lamb shanks. The garlic bread was nice, when the meals came out the shank only one, was very tough and didn’t fall off the bone as expected! Was a big let down. Now when I see a pumpkin risotto I expect big chunks of pumpkin and chicken in a white wine sauce, this I didn’t get, a got a bowl of pumpkin purée with pieces of chicken. Struggling to breath and eat the waitress comes around and get asked how was my meal, even though I thought it was bad I was nice and said it was fine. We get the bill it comes to $89.50 (we had a couple beers which was the nicest part of the meal) I put in $90 cash expecting my 50 cents.. they take it and don’t even come back with my change, how rude! I go in a ask to see my receipt and said where’s my change? I know this isn’t much but it’s the principle of the thing! As I walk back out side, one of my snotty cold diseased tissues fall on the fall.. pure by accident but was happy it happened. This place must purely survive on unknowing tourists, this place doesn’t know anything about Italian cooking.
Red Bean
Went in for lunch. They do staples pretty well, I’m guessing. Garlic bread was good, chicken risotto wasn’t a gloopy, sticky mess. Was tasty enough. Good for a dine and dash. Service was wonderful, which appears to be a general trend in Auckland.
Aimee Rusling
Although the food was good and the service was good. I was charged $38.00 for chicken fettuccine and a vodka and soda. Maybe you should ditch the calculator to add up prices and stick to the automatic cash register?? Not happy.
Nomnom
Had fettuccini carbonara pasta with chicken and tiramisu as dessert. Portion is just right and the dish tasted good. Service from the lovely waitress was superb- quick and friendly. Enjoyed my experience here, will come back for more.
Emmatogiaheulu
Food was amazing! I had the chicken risotto & Quattro pizza - the base of the pizza was the best! Service was great! Happy hour also great! Will be back definitely

Fast Italian food has become quite a thing amongst many Auckland restaurants where these restaurants venture away from ‘Home Style‘ cooking to pumping Pasta and Pizzas out at volume.

Da Vinici’s has a wallet friendly lunch meal and if you’re in the mood for some fast Italian meals then Da Vinci’s would be great. Our meals did come out in around 10 minutes which is efficient and looking rather scrumptious due to the plating. In terms of taste the food was fairy average if not rather trite and generic.

Showstopper: Fast Italian food at a very acceptable price point.

Overall Grade: B-

Nice little place. Great value for money. Food was served up quick once we placed our order. Just felt our pizzas were a bit tasteless. However I'd like to go back for the steak, pasta or desserts. What was coming out from the kitchen looked really good.
Ron T
We had a margherita pizza and the base is the best we've had! The staff were friendly and warm. The menu is reasonably priced (great value for pizzas, actually).
Yu Long
This review is only based on one dish as I found this place because I wanted to eat some Spaghetti Bolognese at the city. This place has the cheapest Spaghetti Bolognese in the whole city with decent portion size. Other places in the city offer same or smaller portion size at a higher price and they don't taste any different. Now the other restaurants mentioned are also within a reasonable walking distance from the Aotea centre, so there may be better places outside the city but this review concerns the options in the city and are within reasonable walking distance.

Never going back after being charged ridiculous amount of money for "grilled salmon salad" which hardly had any salmon in there... So pretty much paid $22 for combination of Salad leafs and spinach from countdown which you can get for $5 it total.

Very poor experience:

One waiter was rude and intimidating.
Our food sat on the pass for several minutes, three waiters came to the pass, looked at it and then left it on the counter.

I got up to see what was going on and respectfully asked what was happening, the response was "don't get angry" ( I wasn't, just curious about why the food was being left to sit)

One meal approximated what we ordered and so my partner ate it.

They remade mine and when it was ready the waiter literally threw it at me and ran away.

I received dirty looks from him for the remainder of the time I was in the restaurant.

Unfortunately the seafood in the dish was raw.

I asked for the bill, they agreed to take the cost of one meal off, but it came with all the charge still there.

I had been there before and although they again got the order wrong the food was an acceptable approximation of something Italian.

It seems to me that the owner should spend more time in his restaurant as it is a different experience when he is there

I'm so glad I found a reasonably priced place to satisfy my pasta cravings! Came here on Sunday for lunch with my friend and absolutely would return. I got the vegetarian gnocchi with mushrooms and pesto; I thought it was good, but wished it had more mushrooms and would've been great if there was meat to it; which you can add, for an additional $3.5! My friend had the carbonara, which I had a taste of and also approved!

The waitress who served us was friendly and prompt, and she also came to check on how our food went.

The ambience was alright, it has a traditional Italian design filled with red drapes and dark tones. There weren't a lot of customers either, so if you're looking for a place that isn't bustling and super busy, this is the place to be.

The cutlery and utensils were generally clean, apart from the fact that there were a lot of flies around the restaurant.

But overall, I'd give it a good rating because I actually enjoyed my meal and time there. Will definitely return :) if you're looking for a reasonable place to satisfy your pasta cravings, I'd recommend coming here. Plus, it has a very date-like vibe, without it being costly.

Great service in this restaurant on Albert Street! I have now been 2x and enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food! I recommend the garlic prawns for starters! I ordered steak for a main - didn't quite cook it enough for my liking but the meal was yummy and well presented. I got my meal with a voucher and was pleased with the overall cost - not sure I would have paid full price.
MRB
Friendly staff and yummy pizzas (even for vegetarians). What more could you ask for? Happy hour with deals on good wine, beer and cocktails? Yup they got that too.

We loved it there. Just one little negative... The pizza with brie didn't have brie on it... Weren't able to see our taste that cheese, just mozzarella. Therefore not a perfect score this time. But we'll be coming back for more. No worries.
Kate
Love the pizzas, it's chewy instead of crunchy. Try the mussels and three cheese bread entrée! The Penne Salmon is really tasty and in good portion too. I would not suggest the Spaghetti Marinara as its a bit bland compared to other restaurants.
Anne Lee
I previously came here with a friend of mine and we absolutely loved the food.
The service was really nice, and the food was really good too.
And the price is a total bonus
CK Leo
I went there for dinner with a friend first and the service was marvellous and food delicious, I felt that they've really grasped the simplicity and natural harmony of Italian food, even though try as they might to warm up the interior, it still had the industrial vibe of an 80's accountancy firm.
Then I went there for lunch and it all turned to custard... Ordered a risotto and it looked and tasted like something that's been regurgitated, the chef really took "al dente" to heart and the rice tasted uncooked not undercooked. The waiter then "conveniently" informed me that I could have had a free espresso, when I got the bill! I asked him if I could still have my free coffee to take away and he said no, I can only order it when I order my food...
So anyway, I guess this place can be a bit hit-and-miss, I would definitely be going elsewhere for Italian food.
Karen
Perfect place for an Italian lunch!

Their express menu offers meals under $15.I usually go for a pasta which are all so, so good from what I've tried so far. I have been here many times and my favourite would have to be the fettuccine Noci, the chicken can sometimes be a little overcooked though.

Service is really great too, nice and friendly staff!
I have yet to try dinner here also.
Sarah Kennar
Went there for lunch yesterday- glad I did the service was excellent and our waiter/s were very welcoming and lovely. Our dishes were delicious can't complain! They have a variety of things on the menu it's so hard to choose from! Will definitely recommend for anyone looking for a valued meal/cheap eats!
Alienbabe
We went as we had bought a voucher, anyway when we got there we decided to order a la carte and take the voucher meal home, but no we weren't allowed to do that, it was not allowed to be a takeout meal.
Ok, so we ordered it to sit there sp someone felt like it could pick at it.
We ordered a selection of veal shanks, risotto, gnocchi, lasagna, steak etc with shooters, beer and wine, we ate the chips off the voucher meal. We all felt a bit disappointed with our meals, at prices ranging from $22-28 per plate they were pretty light on the meat component.
The gnocci was doughy and the diner felt lacking some flavour.
The lasagne needed more meat and wasn't hot, it was on the cold side of warm.
Shanks were pretty ordinary in flavour.
Risotto was rated by it's diner as not very nice.
Steak was rated as also very ordinary, not special or flavourful, jnot as good as we would cook at home.
Then we asked if we could doggy bag our voucher meal of burgers and were told no takeout on this meal.
I had to point out we had purchased other food and would be allowed to take it home, so could we take this instead of another meal to be wrapped. There were many words exchanged about this and it left a bad experience of the restaurant.
The situation left us feeling very poorly treated and unhappy with everything we had experienced that evening.
The restaurant wasn't full that night having about 8 tables full while we were there.

Sorry to say we won't be back, nor can we recommend this restaurant to others.
Razelle Icaro
This was the first Da Vinci branch I've been to. It looks quite intimidating from outside since the place looked quite fancy and you would not believe the "$10 lunch special" sign posted outside. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. They have a fee per table but if you're nice to them they'll waive it off. I find their pasta with white sauces a bit too creamy but i definitely like their bolognese. Tiramisu was a bit average though ZomatoStudents
Shelly
I frequently come here for their $10 lunch specials. The staff here are very lovely and welcoming, service is great and food is very authentic! The prices are also great for the portion sizes you get.
Mat
I came here once for a birthday dinner and ordered the lasagne (this is my staple Italian order). I remember the lasagne tasting bland and the opposite of authentic. It's really hard to find an Italian place that makes quality lasagne :( on the other hand, the environment was quite nice and the service was good. Definitely not my favourite Italian restaurant in Auckland but it was worth a try!
Elizabeth Harding
The pasta meals are quite small for the price, but nice flavours. Had the salmon penne, was really nice, just needed more of it. Others at the table enjoyed their meal. Pizza's are a good size for 1 person.
Nice staff, good service.
Luke Norris
I have mixed feelings about Da Vinci's, I have been here twice and both times the meals were very nice but kinda small. The staff are very nice but the overall setup of the restaurant is kind of cramped.
Melissa Pana
Went here last night for my daughter's birthday. Very quiet place which is different for me. Our garlic bread entree was ok but I couldn't taste the garlic. We received our meals quickly and the staff were friendly. The meals were quite small though so I left hungry but my agnello was cooked perfectly. I had a taste of the gnocchi and spag bol too they were nice.

I'm not sure if this place was just having a bad night or if its usually as horrible as my experience was.

A group of 3, we had ordered the spaghetti bolognese, the pumpkin and walnut ravioli, and the lasagna.

The spaghetti bolognese was by far the worst fish. If I had made it at home, it would've been better. The spaghetti wasn't drained well enough when it was plated, so it created a pool of disgusting reddish tomato pasta water in the plate, which essentially washed away the already very little seasoning the bolognese had.

The pumpkin and walnut ravioli was a bit better, but only marginally. The sauce was actually quite nice, but the pasta itself was dry, hard, and tasted like cardboard. My friend ended up leaving half the pasta on the plate and just eating the sauce.

The lasagna was the only dish of the night that was acceptable.

Never again. I've had the Da Vinci's on City Road multiple times and the food there is great. I'm not sure how the two venues differ so much in quality.
Lisa Doar
The atmosphere here isn't the best; quite dull and it was very quiet with not many people so it felt a bit awkward just having a conversation without everyone being able to hear.
But the menu is very extensive and particularly good as a vegetarian. The best mashed potatoes I have ever had and I'm not even a huge fan of mashed potatoes. Reasonably priced too.
Sonya Gupta
Friday night ruined..!!!

I absolutely love Italian food and I have been eyeing this restaurant for a year now, I totally regret going here, the staff is a bit rude, and the food not so great!

We ordered garlic bread, which was very bland, I could hardly taste the garlic, the pizza and pasta didn't have any salt, we had to ask for a lot of pepper and salt, the cheese cream pasta didn't have the right balance of cream.
I just didn't feel right here although the ambience looked great the food was very disappointing.
Tabitha MacPherson
My son and I had lunch here yesterday. Fabulous friendly service, beautiful place. My son got seafood pizza, I got bacon cabonara. Both meals were to our liking, just right :-)
Nicola Owen
I've been here a few times for lunch.
(mainly because of the location, it's halfway between my and my friend's offices).

Food is pretty average. Alright value for lunch, but wouldn't pay dinner prices
I have ordered the bacon arrabiata and the chicken penne pastas.

I found the service to be good.
Nikki Coggan
Possibly the worst food experience I have had. I am not super fussy but I do like to enjoy what I eat and appreciate good service. At a table of 6 diners, all of us were disappointed. I think they use mesclun salad to bulk up everything! The Caesar salads were mesclun instead of cos, a tiny anchovy, half an egg, processed ham, processed slivers of chicken and some chunks of bread. Staff were either vague or unhelpful, and at times rude. When we pointed out that the "classic Caesar salad" was by no means classic, we were asked if we wanted our message passed on to the chef. Our comment - "Is there a chef???" They advertised $10 lunch specials, but we were charged full price. Then to make matters worse the Manager phoned to abuse us for leaving our booking request with their other restaurant. He called us stupid, idiots and said we were not welcomed back because of this! Wild horses would not drag me back. A lesson in polite customer service, etiquette and perhaps a chef would get better results.
Cathy
7 of us went for lunch. Food was terrible. Ordered Caesar salads, warm chicken salad and salmon salad. Every salad had the same mesclun greens. The Caesar salad wasn't even made with cos lettuce. The warm chicken salad was supposed to have crispy noodles - it had about 5 crushed pieces of noodles. Besides the food, when I walked over in the morning to drop off some Christmas crackers for the table, which I offered to put on the table but the wait staff insisted they would do this for me (there was no one else in the restaurant other than me), I discovered that our booking which I had made a week prior wasn't even in the book, and the pre-order I emailed through the website had not been passed on. When we arrived at the restaurant, the Christmas crackers were still in the packet on the table where I had left them. Complained but clearly nothing was going to be done about the food or anything else. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Tom Ou
Service, decor, cutlery and overall cleaniness was superb.
Had the chciken fettuccine noci and the salmon penne.
Both very bland, no flavour at all. Didnt complain though
Keith Trace
My family and I were very disappointed with Da Viinci's on Albert Street. We were going to eat at a restaurant around the corner, but this one looked nice and the menu and prices in the window seemed good. Unfortunately the food was not up to a very high standard. We ordered chicken livers for an entrée, which were okay. The main meals of spaghetti/meat balls, chicken risotto, and spaghetti bolognese were all completely flavourless - we asked the waitress for salt but that couldn't even draw out any flavours. My family and I aren't usually complainers and this the first time I have complained about a restaurant. I was very surprised to hear that the chef was indeed their regular chef when I asked. I wouldn't even eat this food as a home cooked meal. The two teenage boys were hungry, yet they hardly ate any of their plateful. Whilst talking to the manager Andy on the phone discussing a refund of the meals that were bland, he took offence and stated he'll "kick my ass" when I asked to come over to discuss a refund with him.... this was a bit weird.. On a positive note, the waitresses were really nice and helpful. I really hope the owner gains insight into what's going on as surely it is the most important thing to have happy and satisfied customers and we are far from being hard to please customers.
T Pritchard
I had a really great dinner here last night with 4 others. I had chicken parmigiana which was very tasty and tender. Everyone else had steak meals which they really enjoyed too. Tiramisu and chocolate cake for dessert was a nice way to end the meal and the coffee very good as well. Service here was excellent from the time we walked in, very friendly and attentive. Look forward to returning.
Anna
Love this place. On my Fiance and I's weekend away in Auckland, we came across this lovely little restaurant. We ordered the Parmese Pizza & Chicken Tortellini which were both filling, delicious and priced well. The staff were polite and accommodating lovely Italian people. When we arrived home from our weekend away my partner wanted more Chicken Tortellini. If only there was another Da Vinci's in the Lower North Island. Many thanks
Annette Collins
We came for the $10 lunch displayed on the menu outside, My partner had a pizza and I had canneloni. Both were competent but not stunning but good value for a $10 lunch. However they misrepresent their $10 lunch because some meals are $12. This is shown on the menu but under an overall heading of $10 so I assumed the regular price was $12 but you get it for $10 for the special lunch. We were charged $12 which is not what is shown on their menu proclaiming $10 lunch

If I could do 1.5 I would...

Do you like tough flavourless meat with cheese on top smothered by a tin of tomatoes? You do? Well that's simply splendid you will love grinding your molars on the steak whilst enjoying the ambiance of indifferent service, fortunately I didn't have to pay on this visit, unfortunately it was my second visit.

Couldn't recommend.
Melody
This is by far the worse place I have taken my family to eat. Bad service by the manager herself. Would like to talk to the owner of the place for her rude manners. She basically ruined the night for us.

We had originally booked for 8 but due to very last minute cancellation there were only 6 of us. The manager very rudely said they might be charging us more since there is less of us. When I asked her if the place was booked out she said it was not. I kindly asked to be moved to another table because we were seated in front of the door in a cold night and again she kept reminding us about being charged more. Right there and there we had to leave. She ruined our night and mood. A pity on this restaurant, it's amazing how one person who happens to be the manager can ruin your experience.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good service and good food.

Usually I am fond of Da Vinci's romantically downstairs on City Road near the Langham.
But not living in city any more I arrived here with only a few groups there.
Started filling up.. I ordered quickly as I do when I notice this.. was just my 8year old son and I dining..
Hate the layout of this place, everyone looks at you, felt seedy as. Tables far too close together ill say. I dress well but must of been because I am a young mum mid 20's..? no idea..
But I ordered a lot for the two of us like 3 mains and a shrimp cocktail.. Took forever, cocktail came first, sons pasta meal.
But no Omg.. I practically lost my appetite waiting and talking with my son argh. I ended up like asking if they had my order lined up at least..
The Sirloin was great but wondered when that was going to arrive after huge wait. Beckoned by the "$10 Lunch Menu", a friend and I had lunch here the other day. After reviewing the extensive menu, we both ordered pizzas with mine being the Italiano and hers the Quattro Stagioni. The Italiano was described as being the ultimate meat lovers pizza, but sadly, it was lacking much meat. It was well cooked, on a thin (but not crisp) base, but I felt it lacked both meat and seasoning. The Quattro was a big hit however. As far as pizzas go, I much preferred these to the greasey take-out varieties. The service was attentive and the decor and feel of the restaurant modern. I'll definitely be back.

My partner and I dined at Da Vinci's Albert St last night. In the past we have dined at the first Da Vincis City Road and that was an experience we thought deserved a 'second helping' and since the second branch opened around the corner from my home, we thought that we would give it a try. Upon arrival we noticed that the new branch had a more lively, urban and fresh atmosphere, but still with a classic twist with the beautiful warm lighting and portraits. Impressive combinations! We ordered chicken liver pate as entree, which came with lightly toasted bread and tasted fabulous!
For mains we ordered a Da Vinci pizza and an Eye fillet with mushroom sauce. Both dishes were cooked perfectly to how we ordered and we were both immensely full. However we needed one more thing to be satisfied.. and that was to have ourself a helping of their desserts that we couldn't stop talking about after having them when we visited the other Da Vinci's. And as expected, the tiramisu and the orange creme caramel that we ordered were both consistently delectable and both fresh with that melt in your mouth feeling. YUM!!!
Overall, it was again an enjoyable experience, where the staff are friendly and everything is reasonably priced, particularly in the central city leaving you satisfied.
One last comment. Do no pass on the Desserts!

I've been going to Da Vinci's for lunch for quite sometime now. Stepping into Da Vinci's you won't expect that this restaurant serves $10-12 express lunches! I like the decor; red walls, romantic light, comfy chair; it feels like a proper nice restaurant. It is spacious as well. Service is quick but food can take sometime; watch out for big tables or crowded lunchtimes, but otherwise you're sweet.

I've tried quite a fair amount of their pasta dishes from the lunch menu. They have quite a variety of meals from pastas to pizzas and risottos. They're good, but not memorably good. I always feel the need to add plenty of salt and pepper to my meal. Their creamy types of pasta dish can be too rich sometimes--I learned this lesson the hard way and have been avoiding it since. If you have a sensitive tongue, watch out for their meatballs; it can be a little bit spicy at times. My friend ordered salad in the past and from what I can remember they're quite good as well, big portions with chunks of meat.

Overall I think lunch at Da Vinci is a pleasant experience especially if you are working nearby. It is a failproof destination to take new people out for lunch, because their food is not bad. It's not crazy good either but it's really good value for money for the ambience, service and food.
