Review Domain And Ayr Cafe - Auckland Central

A cute little 'hidden' Cafe. They are the only place I knew that did fluffy pancakes đŸ„ž it was soooo yummy, their coffee wasn't so bad either 😋 I came here like 3 years ago though, gotta come again!!
Nana
I recommend you all this pancakeđŸ€€ It looks too sweet but you'll be surprised that it's not too sweet and heavy! You should try coffee with your meal. This flat white was very nice😘

Their fluffy pancakes are good. This type of pancake is quite common in Japan, but not so much here in NZ. Good to be able to eat this here. Their selection of magazine is good too, subscribing to monocle.

Coffee and food are amazing!! You should try “20min fluffy pancake”. It was huge fluffy pancake, not too sweet! That was perfect! I definitely visit again very soon!! Thank you for the delicious food and coffee!!

August 2022: We really like this café for healthy choices. Many things are not overly sweet and not too big. 25 June 2021: Another breakfast with the famous pancakes. Very special, airy, and eggs. Takes 20 min but quite an experience. Just had a very nice breakfast there today. Good long black, tasty vegan blueberry muffin, and a nice croissant. The place has a pleasant vibe.

We were able to get a table for brunch. The place isn't very big but there are about 5-6 table around. Although the menu said to order at the counter they actually came and took our order. Most of the menu items look good but I came here to try their fluffy pancakes. The pancakes were huge and they were stacked. There was three of them on the plate. I quite liked the compote and fruits around the pancakes but there wasn't enough maple syrup since there were so many pancakes. It did get a bit dry at the end since all the syrup and sauce were already eaten. This could have easily fed 2 or 3 people. I also had an iced chocolate and it wasn't very sweet. Nice chocolate flavour but more on the dark end.

Hands down the best coffee in Auckland. All the staff are incredibly friendly, the coffee is sublime and the cabinet food is awesome. It’s a great place to people watch and is open early most days. Highly recommend their breakfast; the 20 minute pancakes are worth the wait.

Visiting the museum and looked on Google for a cafe close by to walk to. Had a perfect Omelette that was 20.00 nz with salmon and spinach. Very fresh. I'm from the US, not local.
ELÆN
Nice little cafe adjacent to The Auckland Domain. Great food, friendly staff and good value for money.
Shaima
I lived this place so much. The staff are absolutely beautiful and friendly. We went there everyday while in NZ. The coffee wasn’t the greatest though (but I’m very picky with my coffee beans and blends).
Alex
I have to say that their pancake is worth waiting for. It's fluffy and not sweet. My GF could not finish it so I had a chance to taste it. Sweet tooth satisfied.
Cammy L
A neat little cafe. Good options on the menu. The mince on toast was really nice. Really friendly staff and atmosphere was great for catching up with a small group.

Excellent coffee. Just what we needed :) Menu looks so good too. Will be back!
Luckily it wasn't busy, there's not a ton of space

Very disappointed to have to say that this was the worst coffee my tastebuds have ever had to experience. Ordered two iced lattes, one was terrible with chunks of old soy milk accumulating at the bottom of the cup, the other just horrific with what tasted like rotten almond milk. Tasted like sour, rotten cow urine. I cannot express how disappointing these coffees were, after being really hyped up to try this beautiful looking cafe these were the worst drinks ever. I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemies.... actually I would because they deserve to experience something so foul. This all put the cherry on top of an already plummeting experience, as I was waiting at the counter for quite some time being ignored by the owners, and they served and chatted to their friends directly behind me, that also arrived long after me. Really disappointing as many of the reviews say they have great service - but I cannot agree. Was really hyped to try this place, as it looks very very cute, although safe to say I will never being returning even though it’s about 10 metres from my house and the next cafe is quite the walk away.

Highly recommend trying their pancakes! So fluffy and unique to any other cafe, however I did find the remaining of the menu quite bland. I assumed because their pancakes are so different their menu would have a lot of unique looking dishes however the rest is standard.

đŸŒ: “Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fluffiest of them all?”
“Domain AYR fluffy pancakes đŸ„ž!”
.
These pancakes @domainayrcafe are the biggest and fluffiest pancakes I’ve ever eaten 😍 So moist and fluffy, and not too sweet! Takes 20 minutes ⏰ to make, so take that into account, order it first thing if you know that you’re going for it! Amazing brunch place not too far from Newmarket mall. Friendly staff, fast service and great food. They’ve got big portions and reasonable prices too. They also have a few vegetarian option on their menu, so am already planning my next brunch here!
Stacey
I had the most insane pancakes here today! They were so light and fluffy, they reminded me of Japanese style pancakes. The apple and raspberries added a much needed to tang to break up the sweetness of the maple syrup and marscapone. I can easily say these were the best pancakes I’ve ever had!

I also got the glow baby juice which was delicious and gingery and my partner got the Breakfast smoothie which tasted like chocolate and peanut butter - super tasty. We will defs be back!

Staff/service: 4/5
Venue: 4/5
Price/portion: 4/5

The 20min wait for the famous pancake was worth it. It was the fluffiest pancake I’ve try. The price $18.50 was good but could do with more of the mixed berry compote. I don’t have a sweet tooth and had the maple syrup at the side instead. My husband’s smoked salmon is good as well at $22.50 with free range egg

Join Zomato Gold and get 1+1 on food or 2+2 on drinks. Also get a 20% OFF using my referral code SUMA8564P

The pancake is fluffy and soft. Fruits give some texture of the pancake. it is worth to try.
Sara Khandan
The presentation was beautiful but unfortunately it didn’t taste as good as it looked. Very eggy and unfortunately it was no where near as sweet as I would’ve hoped for

Kept seeing an ad on Instagram stating ‘fluffiest pancakes you’ll ever have’ (not the exact words but something along the lines).

Decided to give it a go and was somewhat... disappointed ? They had definitely hyped it up too much. Serving time was 50 minutes (instead of 20 according to their menu) other than us there were only two small tables.

However , friendly service and a nice seating

Came here on a windy Saturday afternoon for some brunch, luckily they weren’t full so we got seated right away. Their hot chocolate was super good, and their food was really well presented.
Had super high expectations for the pancakes as it seemed they were their signature dish, but was a tad disappointed. Super pretty presentation, but it tasted more like mushy thick bread rather than pancakes.
Overall pleasant experience, would come back to try the other dishes on the menu :)
Arnaz
Their pancake stack was to die for!!!

Got an amazing soy milk porridge and freshly made juice. Definitely recommend coming here, huge portion sizes were a plus.
Lovely Munchies
We were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and saw this cafe on Zomato Gold so decided to give it a try. The staff were so friendly and such a pleasure despite it being a very busy morning. Our meals arrived very promptly, was delicious and the portions were great, and the kokako coffee was a bonus for us. Would definitely be back here again.

These are quite possibly Auckland's best pancakes. Presentation is beautiful. Three huge pancakes are stacked on the plate, surrounded by berry compote and fruit, and plenty of maple syrup to drizzle with. Light, soft and fluffy, its kind of a hybrid between pancake and soufflé. The inside reminded me of marshmallow. Overall, delicious without being overly sweet and it's definitely a must-get if you come to this cafe. Plus they are on zomato gold!

Check out my insta @ohmyfoodiegoodie for m to follow more of my tried eats

Nice local cafe with great coffee and organic fresh food. Pancakes were not what we expected and didn’t really like it, but service and atmosphere is also good. We will be back!
Shivain Sethi
Best pancakes !!!! Went on a busy Sunday morning but there was no compromise on quality. Can’t wait to try other meals 😍
Tony Lee
The food is average and the coffee cups were half filled with froth. Can do better with different coffee cups where they can see the proportion of froth to milk. Presentation of the coffee unfortunately looked like it was split milk on top of the coffee
JY
Enjoyed pancake and big breakfast for Sunday brunch today! Staff was friendly and food was lovely. Will definitely come back again to try out pancake :)

Burger is amazing!!! Very cute little cafe for a weekend brunch. Lovely staff and love their organic juice. Very convenient location as well.

Love this little cafe. Pancakes were massive, soft, fluffy and not too dense. Would definitely be back for the pancakes. Coffee was good too.

Very nice quality ingredients, excellent presentation and friendly service! We came here for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon 28/07. We had the egg Benedict with bacon and the fluffy pancakes. My friend really like the flavors in the free range bacon!

i have been to this lovely cafe for couple of times now, their foods are beautiful and very tasty... highly recommended, their fresh juices are also great...

A lovely cafe near domain. Came earlier with a couple friends, tried their egg bene and creamy mushroom. Both were so yummy, the mushroom was fresh and rosti was full of flavour. Will come back to try their pancake!

I had the protein breakfast! Good value for money! Perfect poached eggs, grain, spinach, Halloumi, pickled beetroot... Very nice when it’s all mixed up. A good healthy choice.
Good service and so many other dishes I’d like to try. Will be back!
Hannah Elley
Came for the fluffy pancakes that I had read about on the urban list. Granted it’s my fault that I should have read reviews or found a picture before ordering, the pancake was not a pancake. It was almost completely whipped egg white and very bland, no structural integrity I also got a few mouthfuls of what tasted like baking soda. Despite the large size the pancake literally dissolved upon contact with my mouth and left me feeling unsatisfied.
Friendly polite service from the cashier. but a long wait for my matcha latte despite being the only seated customer in the store.
Lizzie
The 20 minute pancake is a must-try! It’s light, fluffy and delicious - almost reminds me of a mix between a bread and butter pudding and a pavlova. It’s not too sweet so you can definitely eat it all! The mushroom, haloumi Benedict was also yum and I’m keen to go back and try more from the menu and the cabinet!
Alyssa Medel
The ambiance is really lovely. Their pancakes are the fluffiest pancakes I’ve ever had, and very yum without being too sweet. Great for brunches. Would recommend their Big Breakfast and the mushroom Benny too.
Sarahgm77
Delicious food and great coffee, intimate feel and great people watching.

The omelette's are my favourite here, along with the green smoothie.
Alice In New Zealand
20min pancake was perfect :) it was soft enough n huge. So i ordered one pancake and burrito for 2 pple. Green tea latte was smooth :) Yummy

I came here to meet a friend for coffee and was impressed by the friendly service and range of good food both on the menu and in the case. I decided on the recommendation of a friend to bring my wife back to try the pancakes. We really enjoyed our visit and the pancakes were a unique experience. We found them rather bland and would order something else in future but the coffee and breakfast smoothie were wonderful.
Siobhan Lenehan
They had a lovely selection of cabinet food here, including gluten and dairy free options - our group tried some muffins, a peanut butter cookie and ginger loaf (although we actually ordered date loaf). The baked products came with a lovely whipped butter. I came here with a group of 7. We were all able to fit around the large communal table, but felt quite far away from each other. Because it is quite a small space I would say it is better suited to smaller groups or those just popping past. Because we were a large group, the cafe struggled to get our drink and cabinet food out to us in a timely fashion.

Was keen to try their famous pancake, & great to see they are open so early in the morning. Great service & a nice friendly vibe.
Coffee was well made. Menu is varied with lots of unique dishes on offer.
The inside of the cafe is light & airy - they have a variety of seating options as well as outside too.
The pancake really does take 20 mins as it's soufflé like & they bake it in the oven. It's huge but again very light so is okay for one person or you could share. Nice flavour anyway but good to have the berries on top.
Keen to try other items on their menu too so will be back.

Came across this cutie on my way to Parnell Library. It feels like a new-year treat! The freshness it awakes you is just perfect.

And of course it soaks you in on the spot. Clean, Simple wooden texture quite suits this cafe's concept--support and provide the local offers.

On the menu you will find lots of attractive items, such as Okiwi Bay Salmon. Sitting down inside with the view of the wooden vintage bike and the street scenery of Parnell, how relaxed it is!

Coffee is beautiful, with a ginger loaf or brownie pairing is a nice plus. Hmm, I do wish I could live nearby:)

Dined here this weekend, I think it was friday. After seeing photos of the fluffy 20min pancake I was really eager to try Domain and Ayr out.
We ordered the creamy mushrooms and the pancake.

Unfortunately, the creamy mushrooms were really not good. The sauce was a bit bland but also very stodgy as if too much flour was added to it. I felt a bit sad as this is something I order quite frequently and this was the 2nd worst one I had.
The fluffy pancake was delicious, it's more like a pancake and souffle hybrid. This is something I would order again, but I won't be back unfortunately.
After the creamy mushrooms being very disappointing I am not willing to give any other dishes a try. Not only because of that - the hot chocolate was very watery and there were a lot of flies in the cafe which was a bit off putting and made me feel happy to get out of there.
Whiskyncigars
The creamy mushroom was substandard and quite am amateur dish. The mushrooms were not sauteed long enough and the balsamic was not reduced properly which has a acidic taste to it. The large amount of thickened creamy sauce was overwhelming and lacked sophistication. The potato hash was not bad. The pancake is ok. Great flavour but texture wad really nothing. Just air. Coffee was ok but a tad bitter and tasted burnt. Not terrible but nothing special and they had the ingredients just executed poorly
Vicki Wood
Omg Omg we will most certainly be back. The Pancake is to die for!! It may take 20mins or more to arrive but it is definitely worth the wait. The staff is great and so accomodating as well!
Emma Patricia Katili
The fluffy pancakes really live up to their name. They are very huge so bring a friend or two if you have a small appetite. I do wish that they would give more of the berry compote.
Coco_Clairy
I went there for a brunch. The waitress was not nice enough, kept us waiting and ignored us a lot. Food was normal, but served in a large amount. I liked the decoration style.

This is my favourite place to eat out in Auckland. I always make sure I take out of town guests here. So surprised by some of the negative reviews! I think you guys are doing a great job, keep going!
Husk Creative
Tucked inside an unassuming corner on Parnell Road rests 'Domain Ayr', a cool little spot where Huskies were fascinated with their homemade lemon-honey ginger (they even had a whole cinnamon stick in it), their cool shelving, the random adventuring required to find the bathrooms and the whimsical bicycle on the wall. We then proceeded to hypothesise on joining the #100daysnz project and Round 2 of Living Below the Line, as well as brainstorming cafe names and how to become Instagram legends. In summary, this cosy cafe is a nice place to daydream and get the juices flowing.

Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/domain-ayr-june-2014

I bought a takeaway lunch from here yesterday! It was the worst food I have bought in a long long time. It was the Amaranth Stack ($17.50) and it was just like a pile of greasy mashed up baby food. it was terrible. the tiny salad that came with it was inedible as the grease was all over that too... I hate wasting food (and money) but I couldn't eat it (or anybody that was with me) so I actually had to throw it in the bin as it was so horrid!!! so very disappointing - won't be back!!
Sarah Leakey
Not really a fan of this place to be honest. We ordered poached eggs on toast and bread was to quote my friend "as hard as concrete", also had the pulled pork burger which came with a VERY small portion of kumara wedges and the last thing was the bubble and squeak this came with a generous amount of hollandaise which I was happy with BUT a super greasy rosti and I frankly couldn't finish it because it was too oily. However the service was good and the ice chocolates and coffee were too. I don't usually write reviews like this but I would like to share this feedback with the cafe I hope to help you improve your dishes. Rather disappointed with my visit here.
Mrs Puddingcake
Lovely food, ok service.
We had scrambled eggs on toast and the bacon eggs benny, with coffee and a green juice.
Food was excellent! Scrambled eggs were right up there with the best I've ever tasted. Cane with sourdough, a tomato relish and I think whipped butter.
Eggs benedict was also fantastic, I think the hollandaise had a grainy mustard in it, it was tangy and buttery and creamy. Perfect poached eggs and a bigger than usual English muffin that looked home made.
Downsides were: not much parking around and we struggled a bit to find a spot. Very small inside, although there are outdoor tables. Service was ok, and maybe it's just me but I find it kind of rude when staff complain about how busy it's been.
R-Dee Roche
Excellent coffee and cabinet food. The place is really small so don't bring a big crowd. Best for a coffee catch up or a quick lunch with a mate.

Its early morning on the weekend and all you want is a gigantic plate of food to soak up last nights bad decisions. Domain and Ayr has the perfect range of dishes just for that.

We had ordered the fluffy pancake and the big breakfast. Two dishes that we both well know isn't going to be finished but we'll try anyways.
When I think fluffy pancake i almost think they're going to serve me a good dollop of a fluffy cloud.

And that's exactly what I got, as it was placed in front of me it wobbled for a good 10seconds. Dusted with icing sugar and berry compote that 20minutes was worth the wait.

With good intention to finish we were stuffed. Pancakes were beautiful and isn't your ordinary cafe pancake. The big breakfast satisfied and pleased a hungry boyfriend. We walked out a little too happy with very full bellies

I went here once and would not go back. I ordered a Potato Savoury they boiled potatoes cut it into pieces but forgot to add milk and butter somewhere in the process then bunged in the Corn,Rosemary,Thyme and Paprika. So not only did it taste bland the paprika wasn't enough of a spicy kick. It got worse when I ordered a muffin which they forgot to heat.
G
Came here for the infamous 20 min pancake and it didn't disappoint! It was like eating a giant cloud the size of the plate. So soft and fluffy! It was almost like a meringue. Can't fault this at all. So so amazing.
TeeDee
We went especially for the fluffy pancakes and it was worth the trip! Deliciousness! The coffee was good and the service was good. Parking is a pain, but it's worth the trouble.
Lawrence Mikkelsen
This is a nice place to come for a weekday breakfast. Great coffee and better-than-average cafe food. The 20 minute pancake seems to be the signature dish, but I went for the Domain Big Breakfast, which did not disappoint, particularly the herb potato rosti, which I could have easily doubled my body weight eating.
Shaina Boswell
We came here for the pancake, completely not what we expected but it was delicious. Staff were very friendly and the street side seating was great for the sunny day. Could probably share a pancake between two people though they're so big.
Monique Porteous
Let's be honest - I came for the 20 minute pancake 😏đŸȘ. I have no regrets either. Hype is a good thing sometimes! The location is small, so be prepared to wait for a table, but also be prepared for how worth the wait is ✹. The staff are potentially the loveliest people I've ever met in the cafe world đŸ™ŒđŸ». The menu is perfect and has something for everyone, even vegans! Price point is actually really reasonable for the quality of the food as well as the taste. Onto what we all want to know - how was the pancake? LIFE CHANGING. Please go and try it, like right now. Definitely coming back to try the lunch items next!
Candii Cao
Came here to try their famous fluffy 20min pancake. Just in case you are not sure the 20min is the making time. My friends order3d other food but they all arrived at the same time as my pancake so it didn't feel like it was very long. And it was really good pancake but not in a traditional sense. It was very soft and fluffy that reminds me of a pavlova which i absolutely loved. Will definitely go back again for the pancake.
I'm Hungry
Been here for coffee and muffins a few times. Lovely place, nice staff and muffins are great. Haunted by regulars every morning. Sure to put a smile on your face with the coffee.
Lucy
absolutely AMAZING coffee! I had a cappuccino here the other day and was pleased with it to say the least. The service did take a while however that is mainly forgiven as they were extremely busy, and the coffee made up for it. Not to mention this place had the best brownie I have tasted in a LONG time!
Jade Johnston
Came here during my last visit to Auckland. This small and cozy little cafe is a great spot for breakfast. We tried the pancakes which is actually a single giant fluffy pancake thing. It looks nothing like a pancake but it's delicious.
A
Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was really easy to get a table. Lots to choose from with the set menu and cabinet food. Coffee here is spot on. Ended up ordering the fluffy pancakes which take 20 minutes to make- but if you like a sweet treat then definitely worth the wait. Didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised- said pancakes very fluffy and almost meringue like!
HJ
The place is so on trend and has a great vibe to it with classic wooden furniture, comfy cushions and greenery features throughout. You'll admire the graphic design and typography on the menu, which I thought was really well done. The food options have been carefully thought out with some great brunch and lunch options - plus an assortment of cabinet food. There is a good range for everybody and some great dishes for vegetarians.

We ordered a trim flat white and the Ayr breakfast (vegetarian). The coffee was good but wood have preferred it to be served a little hotter. The Ayr breakfast was well portioned and was enough for my partner and I to share as we weren't too hungry. As my partner is vegetarian he was pleased to see a vegetarian 'meat' option in this dish as it is rarely available in cafes - so thumbs up to them!

Their menu definitely has a lot to offer so would return to try out more of there specialties - in particular the fluffy pancakes!
Samantha Leon
When I first arrived I thought it was super busy until I realised that the outdoor tables were the place to be. It was a lot smaller than I thought, no particular theme but aesthetically pleasing for a small cafe. Upon entering the premise I was unsure if we were to wait to be seated or to just take a seat. After no one greeting us, we quickly realised that we were to just pick a table. The menu is the coolest menu by far, that I have ever seen. The design of it not only looked great but also made reading it easy. After 15 minutes of still not being greeted, we soon realised that we had to order at the counter. This kind of system doesn't bother me but I do prefer those places with full table service as it is why I go out to eat.
Anywho, food was good. Ordered the big breakfast, the 20minute pancake and the bacon eggs bene. Wasn't the most amazing food but wasn't bad either. Their "famous" 20minute pancake was nothing I had seen before. It was huge (see image attached). It was soft and sweet but it wasn't really a pancake but more of a meringue. As with drinks, was very unsure if the coffee was burnt or if it was just very dark coffee as it had a very bitter flavour but the banana berry smoothie was excellent.
All in all, it wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't what I thought it would be but I personally probably wouldn't go again as there was nothing to ride home about/anything I could get elsewhere.
Perthperspective
Awesome service and the brekky portions are huge! I had the Ayr breakfast and the bread and herb Rostis were delicious. The fresh juices are really yummy too. Had a cup of coffee too, but it wasn't very nice and was bitter! Other than that cute and kitschy cafe with ace service!
Rebecca MacDonald
Located on the edge of Newmarket and the domain this cute cafe is a great option for breakfast, lunch or brunch.
I had the chicken open sandwich which was delicious, with bacon and churned butter. Also had a coffee and green smoothie, all great! I will definitely will be coming back to try out the rest of the menu, which includes a pork burger which sounds interesting.
Tania Li
Great place on the corner of Ayr street to catch up with friends! Today I got the famous 20 minute pancakes which were so satisfying and exactly what I was craving. Definitely worth going here just to try them out!!

Honestly love this little cafe with its white walls and wooden table and stools. Service was average though.

We ordered at the counter - the fluffy pancakes With syrup on the side instead of drizzled all over. And o boy, it was so unique. Kinda like a meringue pancake, super light and fluffy (true to its name). Both of us shared one and was just perfect. Topped with berries, mascarpone and syrup on the side. Delicious.

Also had a plant 2 juice - cucumber, celery, ginger, kale .. Super healthy. My friend order citrus 2 and was yummy with pineapple in it.

The coffee I had recently was my favourite but Definitely a nice cafe to sit, read a paper alone, or even do catch ups with friends :)

Great little cafe. Excellent coffee. Really tasty fresh food. Pumpkin muffin one of favourites. Apple and cinnamon good as well. Pleasant setting. Friendly staff

Our local café
Great coffee that is made to go
Staff are always friendly and courteous
The food is good with the fluffy pancakes a must try... well worth the wait, always causing heads to turn and food envy from the other customers when it is being brought out to the table
Smoothies are good with Dr. Libby's green dream smoothie a refreshing touch.

Yummy food and good coffee. You know where everything comes from which is awesome. Good cabinet selection. The pancake is different but worth a try if you're after something a wee bit different. Their fresh juices are scrumptious:-) my fav in winter is their hot pot stew. Yum!!!!
Emily Pavey
Stopped for a quick lunch here - Huevos Rancheres. Looked a little small for the prow but it certainly filled me up and was delicious, poached eggs were perfect! Couldn't resist a veggie juice to go (the juice 3) which was particularly delicious! Perfectly balanced. Great, friendly service too!
Hungusmcfatty
Organic food and drinks without preachy or fussy vibes.
Fresh, wholesome ingredients feature across the menu. There's really something for everyone, including those who might be put off by organic food.
The chef has turned cafe fare up a notch -the frittata from the cabinet tasted super fresh and was crammed with roasted veggies.
The presentation of the food is great and the interior is smart, clean, and filled with light.
Ticks all the boxes : fare, ambience, service, and value. Win.

Food :
20 minute pancakes (amazing)
Huevos Rancheros

Outdoor seating

Great service (:

Love their coffee, constantly good and the guy remembers my order as well. Nice seatings in the cafe and nice food selections to choose from the menu and the cabinet - food also comes out quite quickly . Do try there Good Beef Burger which was so delicious!
Di
I had a fluffy pancake and citrus 1 fresh juice, very lovely experience, we waited 20 min for the pancake, but absolutely worthy, because it tasted so rich, the berry compote in particular
Amy @ My Dining Journey
Food: An all day menu with a good selection of dishes. Food presentation was less than desirable. My Mushroom Medley had mostly Portobello and button and only managed to find two pieces of oyster mushroom. My dining companion’s Mushroom Benedict was sitting on top of a pool of mushroom water which was either suppose to be a watery mushroom sauce which clashed with the hollandaise or they didn’t think to remove the liquid before plating.

Coffee: Kokako coffee which is fair trade and organic. But because I had a coffee an hour prior, I opted for a juice aka liquid plant. Nice healthy alternative with plenty of different blends.

Price: Decent, dishes less than $20. Coffee is around $4.5 and smoothie and juice around $8.

Location and Parking: In-between Parnell and New Market, it’s amongst a small number of shops on Parnell Road. Plenty off-street parking available.

Overall Dining Experience: Service was less than desirable. Walking into a cafe with only two customers, the barista and cashier were too busy chatting amongst themselves to notice that we came in. Their interactions between the people they know and the ones they don’t is dramatically different as I saw a friendly smile and conversation when their friends walked in.
Bella Lily
Having been going to Domain and Ayr since changing from Kokako. Never a dispointment, the food is fresh, healthy and delish. I recommend the Dr Libby Green Dream smoothie. They also do a gluten free brownie and occasionally a biscuit which is a bonus! The cafe is causal yet beautifully fitted and the staff are devine.
Katerina Hond
I had an extremely enjoyable brunch here, the pancake was absolutely to die for, so light and sweet and amazing. The only down side to the cafe is state and the location of the bathroom but other than that, a great choice for foodies.

We went to the Domain café for lunch recently. We arrived about 11.45am - the lunch menu started at 11.30am. However, two items on the menu weren't available; one was the soup which wasn't "ready yet." I found the staff not accommodating as when I asked if salmon (on the menu in another dish) could be swapped for the tuna on the dish I wanted, I was told by the waiter that that wouldn't be possible. He finally went to check with the chef. It was possible - for a bit more money. Speaking of money, the prices were exorbitant. I am used to eating at cafes around Auckland, so know what things cost at other places. I can only assume that the prices reflect the lack of competition and perhaps catering to the tourist sector. I certainly won't be going back or recommending it to anyone.

I totally agree with one if the previous reviewers comments - great home cooked style food. And very good smoothies too.
Lovely clean space.

Delicious breakfast and friendly staff! Food has a really good home made quality. If you're feeling like something sweet and rich their breakfast pancakes are a great indulgence!

Pro: organic & yummy food, excellent juices
Con: opening hours

I was so pleased to see that this cozy cafe chooses to use organic ingredients! The food we had was very yummy - and the fresh juices amazing! Although it's organic, it's not ever more expensive than elsewhere.

The only thing I criticise is the early closing time in the afternoon.

Had brekkie here today with friends after finding it on the web. Wow! Very good. Good menu (that's what especially appealed), friendly, efficient service, pleasant ambience, and all of our meals were so great. Will return.

Twice this week we have got up at 5.30am for a morning stroll around the Domain and twice we have stopped into this rather gorgeous cafe for morning coffee. Service has been efficient and friendly, coffee good and hot. Haven't eaten there yet but intend to soon.

Particularly like the wood/steel bike frame on the wall.

On the verge of a Parnell cafe change - watch out Mink!
