Review New Zealand Natural Melt - Auckland Central

Great location for a nice dessert and stroll around the wharfs. Plentiful selection of ice creams and sorbets. They also make shakes and other treats. The honey pokey ice cream brought back nice childhood memories. The staff were very nice and helped me decide with a sampler.

A good place to have a rest and ice-cream after the walk from Silo Park to the wharf. Lovely atmosphere and setting. We visited at 1:30pm on Sunday but only two staffs working in the shop. A long queue waiting to be serve.

The chocolate ice cream was good and delicious, and the service was perfect and The moroccan-french guy gave me a good recommendation, probably i will visit one more time before i leave NZ

The ice cream dessert with a selection of pastry plus ice cream was really nice. It looked heavenly. I especially liked my order which was espresso ice cream with coffee cake. My partner had the mango cheesecake with passion fruit ice cream. We both love the passion fruit ice cream but was not really into the cheesecake. The base was a little bit too frozen to be broken. Staff were all friendly and nice.

Great icecream, with a good selection of flavours. Reasonable prices, especially for icecream in the city. You can also get a tasting before you decide. Seems pretty popular on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Tim
Great location. They offered me free chocolate dipping which tasted amazing! I wanted to wash my hands after having their delicious ice cream but there was no bathroom in this store.

Great service Great ice cream Only downfall wasn’t a huge choice but highly recommend

Nice place with a lot of options. Unfortunately I didn't have time to take a photo of my 2 scoops ice cream ($7,90) because it was so delicious.
Jared
The shake was great tasting but was less icecream and more milk than I would have wanted. It ended up being really thin. The straw was also made it paper, so it was deteriorating quite quickly and becoming soft and mushy. I would have preferred even knew I'd the disposable bamboo straws. Overall it was okay, but probably wouldn't return here over other options.
Jazz Squier
ice cream was so yum and the customer service was 10/10, will definitely going back. The 2 girls working were so lovely and efficient!!!
Juan Pablo Atiaga
Lots of ice cream options: cones, ice cream sandwiches, floats, tea with icecream, etc. Good, patient service. Great atmosphere, with many games for kids and adults.
Janet Liu
It was alright.. Though the hot chocolate had no taste, macaron was dry but the ice cream and service was good. Very pricy. Will come again.
Maxine Balani
Staff were awesome and energetic 💕 love being in the environment whilst having a nice plate of desserts that were gone within a few minutes!!!
Ronin
Nice ice cream, but disgustingly left paper inside cone underneath the ice cream. I almost choked. Horrific experience.

A really nice ice cream parlor to go chill with friends. Easy to locate if you are close to the wharf. I just wanted to try the hokey pokey, as it seemed to be the crowd favourite, and it did not disappoint. Nice seating area, good music and friendly staff. Had a great time.
Joy Eats
Really nice ambiance and service was good too. The icecream was really tasty and macaron was so delicious. Mint chip icecream was my favourite.

Met up with some friends near the Viaduct and normally I would pass this place as I thought it would be touristy. It’s located close to the ferry building and there’s also Downtown carpark just across.

Dayun and Angelica helped serve me today who were both a delight. We wanted to try the ice cream macaron and so we tried the peanut butter, boysenberry, and chocolate flavours that were to die for.

best new zealand natural shop in Auckland. Lage sand space for child to play, also provide board games for adults. So many choices of ice cream. Looks nice and taste yum

First time to try this place. Great location and friendly staff. They offer a variety of baked goodness including cronuts. The New Zealand Natural ice creams was true to its flavour, simple and refreshing. The cronuts and croissants were ok.

Neat environment friendly staff.

Some of the ice cream in the cabinet were made a day or two ago, which shocked me when I heard. So I requested mine to be made on the spot.

Lots of toys and games for kids and grownups to play. But a lot of it is broken or damaged.

Regular maintenance is required otherwise does look like a run down mess.

Service: 4/5
Presentation: 4/5
Environment: 2/5
Food Quality: 3/5
Food Quantity: 5/5
Price per person: $10-$15

Saw it all over Instagram, had to give it a go. Was really nice but was a bit messy to eat. Could have used a better wrap/container for the ice cream donuts. Overall was delicious though and a good summer treat! #newbalance997xconcepts

Unlike other icecream places that have limited seats and you end up eating icecream outside in a cold winter night, this place has a really spacious area for customers to enjoy their icecream.
I got mango sorbet in a waffle cone. Was a bit gutted that I didn’t notice they have icecream macaron (always wanted to have an icecream macaron)
❤️: mango sorbet was very refreshing and not too sweet. Cone was very crunchy. And the staff gave us a taster before we made our decision!
😑: the sorbet wasn’t soft enough (perhaps the fridge was too cold and kinda make the sorbet form lumps)

Next time I have to come back for icecream macaron and try the rainbow flavour also 😤

Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Overall: 4/5
Louise
Just a slightly fancier version of your regular NZ natural. The service was lovely but the place needs to get some aircon... sitting inside playing board games is suffocatingly hot, despite eating ice cream while playing.

had ice-cream macaroon the flavour was chocolate coconut. the staff was super friendly and nice and kind enough to let us try icecream flavour before we choose! decorated macaroon was $5 and it is definitely worth it!!!! Can't wait to try other flavour for next visit :)
Nakul Dalwala
Melt has some good quality ice cream, nice rich in flavor, smooth and cremy on pallet. I tried vanilla, strawberry, and kiwi with macaroons. $10 for 3 which is reasonable must try.

Nice location, very helpful and friendly staff along with awesome ice creams so what more can I ask for right?
All sorts of flavours but that ice cream taco is to die for
Taste: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Interior Deco: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Customer service: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
Recommend: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕
MACADAMIA SUPREME has been my favourite ice cream flavour for soooo long!! The reason i love this is because their one contains macadamia nuts with macadamia ice creams which enriches the taste of macadamia!! Unlike other places I've tried, others uses vanilla ice cream + macadamia nut which is not as nice as the one they have in NZ natural!!
Dinah
The coffee us absolutely delicious. Would come back just for that!! Not sure about the icecream... i like the concept and look of how they do it but taste isn't amazing. Nice and friendly service and love how they have board games and beanbags for relaxation!!
Tan.ned
Meh. Average ice cream but good service :) but if I'm being honest,i've had better ice creams x) good effort though. Decent prices for what it was

I have never disliked any of their flavours. You can never go wrong with ice cream. The donut cup was fresh and soft and is a must try! Happy eating.

Im an advocate for french macarons and people had hyped about this way too long so i had to check it out.

It was delicious apart from the cold macaron shells and the shells itself being a tad too chewy. Ice cream wise, it was typical nz natural so always nice! Berry sorbet, green tea and dark chocolate was what i got.

But i would still visit this place again and try new flavour combinations. I would also recommend if possible, make the macaron shell itself have different flavours. It would have more appeal. And give recommendations for the mix and match flavours that would suit shell and ice cream!

Second time here, got their famous ice cream taco!
I got the flavours Caramel Chocolate Crunch, English Toffee and Green Tea.
But before I dive into that, i just wanted to say that the lady who served me was really lovely, bright smile, made me feel a lot more welcome than the last time I was here. When my taco was ready she asked if I wanted sauce, which I really appreciated (she has a really nice accent!) Excellent service from her!

Caramel chocolate and English toffee were heavenly; albeit the green tea one was a lot more on the minty side than I expected. If I picked to have green tea with other flavour combinations it might've tasted better, but that's partially my problem.

The taco shell was so good! The chocolate and nut toppings made it that much better.

Price: 10/10
Food: 8/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 10/10

The store is super cute and they've got board games to entertain you while you get through your dessert. If you're looking for pastel coloured tumblr desserts, hit up Melt! Macaron ice cream sandwiches were really difficult to eat without getting it all over myself - struggles of the macaron being softer than the ice cream it's supposed to be sandwiching. Even for someone with a real sweet tooth, I found the dessert too sweet D:

Saw their advertisement on FB and it looked very enticing. Especially the macaron ice cream sandwich! So I knew I had to go there and try it.

Went there after dinner with my partner and a friend. Probably a bad idea when you're stuffed from dinner to go and have dessert (lol) but we went anyways.

Bad idea #2 was thinking I could eat 3 macaron ice cream sandwiches by myself 😂 my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach that moment lol. My partner and friend was smart. Just ordered ice cream in a cup. Guess I just wanted to be special... And 3 macarons were cheaper than one! So I had to...!

Man the struggle was so real. Ended up having to just shove the ice cream down my throats and leaving the macaron aside 😭 that aside, it was pretty tasty. The macaron was quite sweet on its own though so plus ice cream, it was super sweet. Quite a sticky situation too eating it with your hands cos a fork or spoon ain't gonna cut it.

Interesting how they have ice cream burgers. Quite expensive though ...Much rather a proper burger than an ice burger for $11-12 to be honest. But overall, probably won't purposely go there and will keep in mind to buy ONE macaron ice cream sandwich! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Although the closing time shows till 12 midnight. It was closed before 10pm.
We reached there at 9.50 pm and they asked us to go to the next ice cream shop. Weired. Please change shop timings if it is wrong. Many people might plan to come there and face trouble.
I dnno when next time i will give a try to go to Melt again.
Ellynn
The ice cream was okay. I liked the fact that they use the ice cream to make the shake but when i drank the shake it tasted really diluted. I will try it again but just the ice cream itself. I also wanna try the one with the macaroons

A fantastic location makes this place very welcoming. We went here all the way from Mt Albert, to try their burger Ice creams.

I was not impressed with the burger concept as it's kind of too difficult to have a cold 🍦 in a burger bun!
The buns were too big and were almost tasting stale.

My friends who tried the Macaroons were happy with their selections.

I think smaller, fresher buns with cinnamon/sugar powder or chocolate sauce with Ice-Creams will make more sense.

Went specially to try d professionally-clicked-edited-delicious photos- lookalike ice cream. But to my complete despair, it turned out to be what i did not expect. Hyped!!!
The burger icecream and d macroons were ordered in flavours chocolate ecstacy, kiwi something, mango passion, pistachhio something, rainbow, lime and lemon... nothing seemed to appeal the palette except the macroons... just d macroons nd not ice cream...
The bread smelled funny..
Decor is good, not much on flavors unfortunately..
I doubt if i will visit again... but worth giving a try.. the basic flavors (choc, vanilla) are good..
Amy Phun
Pretty excellent idea, but unfortunately the bun is a bit stale tonight - probably why the ice cream burgers were going out half price. I won't want to try this again but am glad I did.

this site usta be da visitor center, came in for dessert after eating at burger boy just across the road, they do macaron and burger ice creme as well as coffees. And boring old me just had a orange cone cookie dough ice creme there which i dislike, may try other eats later next time i 'm in area..

After lunch at nearby Euro (with its special Bluff deal every year in March - recommended to everyone for lunch), we passed by Melt and had a 2-scooped ice-cream cup. Both chocolate/coconut & rum/raisins were amazingly good. Comparing with Valentino close-by, Melt's 3.5 rating is well-deserved.

Been there twice in one weekend- really enjoyed it both times. I'm not really an ice cream lover, but I had ice cream lovers with me and they all loved it. I really enjoyed the salted caramel and pistachio, it was amazing...no complaints.

Needed dessert after dinner so came by here since it was close by and we wanted ice cream.

Apart from ice cream they also have other hot or cold desserts that is served with ice cream. I tried the cinnamon chimney cone since it looked quite interesting. They do have tastings if you weren't sure which ice cream flavour to go with.

The decor inside is quite interesting. There are bikes on one side and a sand pit on the other, complete with toys. The tables also had board games on them. It is quite a nice place to just sit and enjoy your dessert.

Mmmmm.... I wasn't as blown away as I thought I would have been!
Ice cream in a burger still seems a bit odd to me. Like a savoury and sweet combination that don't go well together. I thought the buns would have been more 'desserty' rather than actual burger buns (e.g. a bit like the sweet bread you get with a Berliner or Kitchener bun).
They weren't bad, but I think I would prefer to just get ice cream next time. Or maybe try the macaroons, which are at least sweet!

▪️New PopUp
▪️Great vibe
▪️Good menu

A cute new ice cream parlour that's just opened up on Quay Street! They have such a delicious dessert menu from Ice Cream burgers to French macaroons to MELT shakes and fun Flavours. I tried out the English Toffee and I loved it!! More than the dessert though, what caught my eye was the setting and vibe of the place. A cool waterfront space with a really summery feel with bean bags and games and plenty of seating space. This place is gonna be a new summer favourite for me!

Living at the wharf has its perks…one of them is two ice crème joints at walking distance. Was aimlessly roaming around last week when I saw this and went inside.

Couldn’t decide which was better – chocolate ecstasy or the caramel flavour and decided to have both. Two thumbs up for the place, the flavours and the set up (board games) and who doesn’t like ice crème. Cannot wait to try the buns and the macaroons next time!
The One With A Nut Allergy...
Great atmosphere to chill with friends after dinner as they have comfy beanbags, or the traditional chair-tables to sit on and eat your dessert.

I just felt that 11.50 was overpriced for a combination of textures that didnt work well in my opinion; I think it's the price for the unique concept, which was okay to pay one-off to try it. Overall the dry brioche and ice cream combo just didnt 'melt' my heart :)

Believe it is little too big for a ice cream shop. Waste lots of space. Like the environment of the shop, especially with the drawing on the window glass. Very creative. Love the owner's ideas of Ice Cream burger. Tastes little bit funny, but love the idea. Staff are nice and friendly. Even better with a coffee cup not just in take away cup. Prefer take away cups not just plain black, not match the style of the shop. Some games on each tables for people to play with, great idea. Overall, ice cream taste is ok, but love the new concept of the shop.
Brave Eat
Great spacious place to hang out with friends they have board games and cards which is great to kill time and chill. The ice cream burger was ok but the macaroon one was disappointing too sweet for my taste. I didnt like the service no one said hi or smiled at me and they almost looked angry when I didnt know that I can choose macaroon colours?!!

We came for the brioche ice cream burger after reading an article about it. Unfortunately it was a huge let down. The ice cream itself was solid but the brioche bun was stale as! It was clearly a day old, maybe more. We ended up eating the ice cream and chucking out the bun before we got halfway.

We went back for a macaroon ice cream and that was better but nothing particularly special. We won't be going back any time soon.

Really great environment to chill and have a good catchup with friends whilst eating ice cream 😅. Had the 3 for $10 ice cream macarons and I thought they complimented the 3 flavours I chose, it can get a bit messy to eat with just using your hands but there are spoons available next to the counter. Overall, staff were friendly, prices are decent and the ambience is relaxing. Will surely comeback and try the ice cream burger! Ps. Loved the beanbag seats 😊 ZomatoStudents
Where To Next Auckland
Handy location right on the edge of the viaduct! It's in a perfect spot for you to grab a sweet treat after walking around in the sun. Their ice cream burgers filled with beautiful ice cream and amazing berry sauces are drool worthy! We'd definitely go back again!
Priscilla Chand
The best ice cream burgers and macarons ice cream sandwiches. Absolutely loved it. Would recommend trying the ice cream burger its the perfect dessert.

Summer is here in Auckland, ice cream is an essential item to fight with high temperatures. I spent $11.50 for a ice cream burger with Green tea flavor and Frozen Yogurt flavor. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Passed by the place a few times and finally got to try it today. Love the place. Cozy and interesting set up. Gives a really nice feel to it and since its summer, ice cream is a thing for everyone

Staff were attentive but when it gets slightly busier, it does seemed a little bit out of control however still managing it well.
Service 6/10 :)

Heard it is famous for the ice cream burger but didn't get to give it a try. Tried the macaroons ice cream. It was 3 for $10 and it think it is worth getting macaroons ice cream. Don't be fooled just because macaroons aren't that filling but it is if u have 3 macaroons with ice creams hahah. Macaroons weren't as great but it does taste well together with the ice cream.

Tried all 3 flavours of ice cream : green tea , salted caramel and affogato.
In my opinion affogato is the best out of the three so I recommend you guys to try it. Salted caramel comes second and green tea last. Green tea didn't taste like green tea. Something about the flavour , it tastes a bit off. However that's my opinion.

Nevertheless , give it a try. I mean, who doesn't love ice cream? 😁

Nice ice cream from nz natural as always, but the macaron + ice cream combo did not come across as unique. I also think it only works well on some types of ice cream combinations and not all.

I like my ice cream in moderation, so the serving size was definitely too much for me. However, I think the serving size to most people will be just nice.

I made the mistake of ordering 3 macaron ice creams when one should've been enough (they look kinda small in the photos, but it's not really).

Flavour wise, I didn't enjoy the green tea and affogato as much as I thought I would. The flavours came through quite strongly, and I prefer it to be neutralised a little more with the cream and sugar (which it didn't). I did enjoy the caramel chocolate and white chocolate raspberry flavours though.

I still want to try the ice cream bun combo, so will def be back for that.

Got really excited when I heard a new dessert place was opening up especially when it involved sweet pastry ice cream burgers and macaroons! Unfortunately the experience was a little underwhelming. I came in Saturday, the day after they opened and there was only two small groups of people sitting inside already served and three employees behind the counter. I was able to try several of the ice creams which was nice and decided to get the caramel chocolate chunk ice cream burger. I asked the young woman if I could have that flavour on the burger and she went over, grabbed the bun and asked if I wanted sauce (I said salted caramel). I moved over to pay for it and waited and a couple seconds later she asked what other scoop. Surprised I replied "Oh you get two scoops?" and she replied yes, so I said "Oh I guess then I'll have cookie dough as well". After getting it and moving outside, three bites in I wondered where the caramel cookie crunch was, opened it up and saw only cookie dough. There was no line or no loud groups, no pressure or anything for there to possibly be a misunderstanding and she was repeating everything I said so I have no idea how there could have been a miscommunication. The bun was a bit dry as well, not the way I imagined a brioche bun, but maybe that's just the way they are. Other than that the atmosphere was cute and friendly with pops of colour, interesting seating and bright and open, but the ice cream burger was just alright and not worth 11.50.

Just had to b the first to review haha - first day of open Friday 3 Feb 2017 & they are giving away free ice cream burgers, delicious as always New Zealand Natural Ice Cream in a brioche bun with a choice of 4 different sauces but I gave a miss to them as non are sugar free - something different, cool 70's interior - I think this will be a hit in this area - will done.
