We were greeted straight away by friendly and courteous staff. The food is delectable and fresh and there are so many different options to choose from. The prices are great too! Love this and will definitely come back :)))

Staff is super polite and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed every dish, it was freshly and delicately prepared. The store was very clean and hygienic. Thank you to Eva for the excellent customer service, she went well and beyond what we expected.

This place was amazing the staff were welcoming and great service. My friend and myself had a good time. Value for money and great tasty food.Definitely coming again

Choo-choo-choose this train! The sushi train that is. A group of us stopped in after a long days travel and this was the perfect spot for single eaters or friends traveling in a group. The system is easy; sit down and pic up the plates from the moving conveyor belt. Plates are color coded by price but all are equally delicious. Expect to eat 6-10 plates per person depending on your hunger level. I couldn’t decide, so ended up with 9 plates which is around $50 for my color combo. When in doubt give this place a try. All aboard!

Beautiful service as soon as we walked in very lovely and welcoming. The food is delicious and fresh. Tried wagyu beef for the first time and omg it just melted in my mouth. Definitely recommend coming here for sushi 🫶🏼

Absolutely amazing - brought family who live out of Auckland. Every time they are up this is our go to. Highly recommended. Large variety of sushi for all tastes. Great for families!!!!

We were greeted by the friendly staff before sitting down and enjoying the fantastic tasting food that passed by our table. Plenty of amazing selections as always even late in the night. Always enjoy coming here :)

Wonderful meal , lovely place and staff , parents can concentrate on eating sushi train here while keeping an eye on kids because there is a happy train corner specially made for kids .

My daughter and I have been regular customers of this Sushi Train Viaduct. We come here at least twice a month as we find the food here are so fresh and good. We love the udon, salmon skin and the sashimi are so fresh. You must try the desserts too, they’re so good! The service is awesome, all staffs including the chef are so polite and friendly. Also, if you bring little kids, you can let the kids play in the kids corner inside the resto while you’re enjoying the food🤗.

Kids friendly place , always love their sushi <br/>Must try waygu, snow crab and blue fin tuna Otoro, yum

Had my first sushi train experience here. Was fun, the sushi is also not that pricy given the novelty. The sushi itself is average. It’s one of those places that weren’t bad but I’m never in the area and wouldn’t go out of my way for it.
Eatateeaten
Good sushi place for a quick bite. The taste was fine but I personally think the price may be too high compare to its quality. There are a lot of menus available to order.

Good place to eat for a quick bite , I visit quite Often. Can not see anything you Like on the conveyer then refer to the menu and ask staff . take note this is not your usual sushi place, if on a budget take note : 2 people average $30-$60 depending dishes and drinks. Allow the chance to give it a try and the experience of the sushi going around, it’s fun...
Student Bites
Below average sushi, probably the worst I've ever eaten - and that includes foodcourt and pre-packed sushi. Higher prices than standard sushi places. The novelty of going because of the conveyer was out because they had no vegetarian options on it... had to order from menu. Had 3 normal rounds, 2 mini and 2 fried spring rolls cost me $ 9.5 ... and was still hungry afterwards. Nice server, who was happy to split bill between my friend and I.
😎
Love the sushi here. Fresh food and seafood. However this price is quite high.
Katsu Don
very hot inside of the shop. Flavour is below average.

Pleasantly surprised by Sushi trains’ nigiri 🍣 offering today! Blue fin toro nigiri for $5.5 a piece, legit fatty tuna🤩It’s such a steal IMO, but on limited offering. The table next to us weren’t able to order it cause it was sold out. It’s probably the best value toro I’ve had in Auckland, Cocoro & Masu serves these at more than double the price💸<br/>.<br/>➡️Next up is “Buri toro” fatty yellowtail belly. There were two plates of these on the sushi belt and we took both🤫they are really fatty, melts in your mouth, super good value at $7.5 for a pair 👀see photos for reference, photos tell the best story 😜 These are not always available at Sushi Train, so get them when you see them 🤤<br/>.<br/>💲Price $5.5 • $7.5<br/>😋Taste 4.6/5 (sushi rice was subpar, but can be overlooked for the price)<br/>📍Viaduct

Rating 3.5. Pretty standard looking sushi train, they were busy so service was bit patchy. A good variety on the train, quality in general were good, chunky octopus pieces in the takoyaki, and the sashimi were decent thick slices. The tuna nigiri had a bit too much sour cream for my liking, but otherwise good solid outing.

This is my favourite spot for a quick sushi bite.<br/><br/>Situated by Viaduct, which is slightly easier to find a street parking compared to the rest of CBD. And you can go for a walk among the Harbour after a full tummy.<br/><br/>Sushi Train offers a great variety of dishes including Japanese nibbles, sushi, sashimi, desserts and even hot meals. Their sushi are prepared from the open kitchen, placed onto the rotating conveyor belt moving past every table. You can also order directly from the menu and the chef will prepare your order on the spot.<br/><br/>Being a frequent customer here, the service and quality of food has never let me down. You are always greeted warmly by the waitresses plus a friendly atmosphere from the kitchen. The place is consistently busy, so you are always guaranteed on freshly prepared food.<br/><br/>Different coloured plates are priced differently, counted by the waitress at the end of the meal. Their dishes are priced pretty reasonably. They occasionally have specials as well, so watch their space. <br/><br/>Taste: 10/10<br/><br/>Presentation: 6.5/10<br/><br/>Service: 10/10<br/><br/>Ambience: 7/10<br/><br/>Value for money: 10/10<br/><br/>Price $30 per person (excl alcohol)

The variety of sushi at this place was amazing! There were types of sushi's I have never seen before (like those made with sausages) which I really enjoyed. The prices are quite expensive and different from the Chancery branch - but they do have sushi's that are not at the Chancery branch. Good for a once in a while treat!

WOW! We stumbled on this place on sunday ,the food was excellent and the atmosphere was quite vibrant watching the chefs interact and the waiting staff were very pleasant,we had a very enjoyable time eating there and will definately go back.

Really craving for sushi, and found this place. I like to sushi the sushi in train, they have very fresh sashimi, and also various sushi which i can’t resist to take more and more. Love it.
Karina
The service here is always lovely and the atmosphere is so cute and the foods delicious. I like to go for the 'chicken & avocado roll' usually. I like how if the sushi you want isn't on the conveyer then you can ask them to make it for you. They have lots of sushi and sides to choose from and it tastes soooo good. The price is fairly good too :) Definitely recommend.
Yana Petrenko
Have been here a few times and the sushi was so good, the price range is really good if you don’t wanna spend too much on lunch, the portions are quite filling as well, service is so great and not too much of a mish from britomart.
Flun Ci
My favorite sushi in AKL. Have been here for lots of times. Acceptable price which is around 55 for two. Very local taste. Staff are all Japanese and they always wear smiles. Nice food and nice service. Just hard to find a car park.<br/>
BelaIna
It’s the place where I go at least once or twice a week. Very friendly staff and always fresh sushi. <br/>I love the vibe inside, it is casual, feels extremely comfortable and the prices are cheap. <br/>For 1 person is around NZ $15-$20 <br/>Music can be good and it’s always a big range of dishes on the display. <br/>
Haylez
came here for lunch today with a colleague , both ordered the Ramen Wafu. Absolutely yummy. Sushi was delish, good variety. just needs more options on the purple plates. but will definitely return
Doris Ma
Very nice ambience and great service. The sushi is well made and fresh. They have a wide range of choices of sushi and they're all very flavourful. My favourite is the volcano, I get it every time!
Graeme Taylor
I've been regularly eating here for six years. The Sushi is first class, the service is faultless and the premises are spotless. I thoroughly recommend the Sushi Train.

I arrived at 2pm so the lunch rush was well and truly over. Whilst this train tends to be more expensive than the courthouse lane outlet, these guys serve beer at lunch (which the other stopped owing to the licence holder not being present until later in the day) so they get my patronage! Beer really is the way to a person's heart (and wallet). <br/><br/>The restaurant is well presented and the train is a decent length. Prices are consistent with the quality of the sushi and the wait staff are attentive without being over the top. Great range both on the train and the menu and they are only too happy to make items fresh to order. <br/><br/>Food = tick. Beer = tick. Get down there and get into it!
Riputation
Got stomachache after eating some sushi there last night. I saw the whole process how they make sushi, not the fresh salmon but the frozen one in the fridge, looks not fresh. Love the vibe there and also will go there again but won’t order raw seafood again

Such a lovely place and great concept. Sushi comes in a train and we can select any sushi of our wish. We tried some dishes and it was tasty. I must say the staffs are too polite and friendly. Must recommend this place for a whole new experience. <br/>Kudos team.
Charlotteraju
Staff are very helpful and attentive. Would recommend going around 12:30ish pm as thats when all the good sushi is being served. The spicy prawn nigiri is my favourite thing ever, so packed with flavour.
Annie Ren
Very tasty and fresh with a range of fresh sushi and nigris either made to order or coming off the train! We visited at 9pm for a late dinner but there was still quite a variety left available. We can also see the chef constantly making new nigri which was exciting and promising for our empty tummies! We tried an assortment of fish dishes and surprisingly a lot of their eel dishes are very reasonably priced. I enjoyed the eel and egg combo as well as some of the combination rolls which were pleasant both aesthetically and flavour-wise! It's definitely more expensive than the Chancery branch but I guess $20 for dinner is not bad at all!

I am a big fan of sushi. Also am I a big fan of kaiten-suahi. It is a great place for quick lunch and various choices of tapas. You could order from menu or pick any you like from conveyor belt.<br/>Yesterday I took my order. One of them was Inari Seaweed Ship. There were two small plastic fragments among those green seaweed! I did not chew very hard so I did not get hurt.<br/>I did not tell the manager at once because I never report any problems... But now I do.<br/>I still like Sushi Train, though...
Neroli Gowdy
Very nice for lunch. Great idea for people with differing tastes. Would have been nice to have more attention/service from waitress as it did take a while for her to come throughout lunch to take individual orders on top of what we got from the conveyor.

Best sushi train I’ve been to so far, love their grilled cheese chicken, so full of flavors, everything I tried tasted awesome and fresh. Besides the food, their staff were all friendly and welcoming, they also have a good atmosphere and clean environment. Would definitely come visit again.
Jennifer King
If you are a sushi fan, it might be the right place to go! A good variety of selection. Reasonable price, nice environment . Still recommend to go. At least they are all freshly made.
Yuri Lee
Came here yesterday mainly for their $3.50 udon special. The waitresses and chefs were all welcoming- definitely a more welcoming vibe than the Chancery branch. The scallops were so good and fresh! However, some of the sushis had too much sauce for my liking.
Msav
Love the options and the variety of sushi they have available. It would be more beneficial to them if they offered more of the menu variety on the train belt as I’m sure there are some who are tempted to eat once viewing the dishes. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the food and asahi. Would definitely dine in again.
Waiwera
My home! Haha. Honestly, the best sushi I’ve had in New Zealand. Fresh and prepared to order if you wish. They always seem to check the food that has been on the belt which makes me feel more assured of the quality.<br/>Staff are very friendly and always remember and quote my last order when I arrive. <br/>Wouldn’t go to try another sushi train. The best one is right here :)
Thom
All this time I've only been to the Chancery one, so finally got the chance to try this Viaduct one. Sadly I did not realise that the plates here actually have different prices, and some I would have to say are quite a markup in comparison to the Chancery branch. The $7.50 plates however are definitely worth it, the most amazing scallops on the plate! I enjoy everything so much as usual, not even realising some of my favourites are $5.50 instead of the normal $3.50... but overall a lovely experience as the staff are terrific, Chancery could learn a bit from them.

It was a good experience and fun to see there is a sushi go round in Auckland central. The food is very nicely prepared and displayed. The food is also very delicious and comes in decent portions. The staff is very welcoming too and great in spirit. I'd say down side might just be that it is a bit pricey. But other than that it is a nice place to visit.
Sandra Hart
Nice sushi. Best salmon teriyaki I've had in a while. Will be going back very soon with the family. Would recommend to friends for sure!!!!!!
Michelle M
Really lovely and fresh. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We were seated really quickly and were asked if we'd like drinks straight away. There's a big variety of different seafood sushi and sashimi which is great however the only one small thing was there wasn't a huge amount of non-seafood options. What I did have was so tasty though. Great value for money too.
Teddyfamily.
Always love these sushi-go-round places as you get to try bits of everything. Came here recently when they had the all plates $3 special. Regardless of being busy they still had really good service and you can order directly from the chef if something you want isn't on the conveyor belt. My favorites would definitely be the aburi grilled scallop and grilled prawn sushi, they were grilled just right and the cheese and mayo on top complement the seafood nicely. As for nigiri, whelk and eel sushi are nice. This place also have really nice takoyaki with generous amounts of octopus pieces inside with nicely made batter. However if there's one thing I do not recommend it would be the volcano rolls. They are pricey for what they are (mainly rice) and really have no wow factor. There aren't many nice sushi joints in Auckland so if you're craving for different varieties of sushis definitely pay this place a visit :)

Best sushi around ,great service, great selection ! We come here often worth the trip good for kids there's plenty of seating but can get busy during lunch, friendly staff
Hungus Girl
Despite it being the same concept of the american franchise yosushi! this brand is much better in terms of quality and freshness of the fish and variety on the conveyor belt. Their rice is perfectly cooked and fish was so fresh plus they do terayaki chicken sushi ( in other countries they rarely do chicken sushi).<br/><br/>The staff are all japanese and upon entering greeted in japanese. Lovely hospitality. Prices range from $3 to $7.50. If you arent keen on the sushi belt items then there's also a menu you can select from. Can be quite pricey depending on how many dishes you choose as you can tend to get carried away! In comparison to st pierres sushi, it is considered pricey but of course you cant compare quality with the price tag.

Dont recommend to come here, the one on chancery lane taste better , serve better. Honestly, taste horrible, not even can compare with take away sushi, I d rather dine in St.P(which I don't like), now ST.P is no longer my my top of my black list, it's this once.<br/>Teriyaki chicken so sweet ! <br/>Everything is just so wrong with sushi. <br/>U event cannot order sashimi here.
Jk
Came here for a quick bite in awhile. The food and service were very mediocre at best. I feel you can get much better/ fresh sushi elsewhere. If you don't fancy moving dishes, consider sushi takeaways.
Emma-Louise Wolfenden
My boyfriend and I went here to celebrate our 2 years of being together. Yummy fresh sushi, friendly service, and an overall comfortable environment.
Hannah Down
I loved Sushi Train in Brisbane so wanted to try it out here. Service was great and there's also a children's chalk-board which kept my daughter busy, while Mum and I finished our meals. We tried takoyaki, croquettes, edamame etc. Mum ordered karaage udon from the menu which was tasty, even my two year-old loved it! Came to about $30 in total. Great place for a meal that isn't too heavy on the stomach! Only critique would be to have more dishes available on the train as one trip around meant we had to wait for somethin' that we just noticed a moment ago.
Gus
The service and setting were fine, and the quality of sushi was similar to its chancery sister outlet. I particularly liked the eel nigiri which was sweet and tender. However I felt this outlet lacked the variety of the other one and many of my favourites from the other branch were missing here

I recently had this and it was amazing. Everything was the perfect. The food, staff, decor, atmosphere and everything in general. It was so good! I loved it! The sushi was freshly made and the staff were really kind. I definitely recommend this place to EVERYONE! It's especially good for lunch on a sunny day.
Paige Travis
Went here for dinner last night. The food was yummy but when I asked for some fresh plates (because they had none on the train) these were simple delicious. Definitely amazing when fresh. Prices weren't bad and would definitely come back again. only thing I noticed was that there wasn't a massive amount of seating and saw that there was a que waiting for seats.
Jessica
Not a bad sushi train. Fair prices you pay with lots of sushi options to choose from. The service was good, nothing too over the top. Would happily go again.
Amee And Riko
Had such a lovely time at sushi train today. First time going to this place and it won't be my last. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and on to it! The food looked fresh and well presented the price was pretty good too, 88 bucks I paid for me and mum which wasn't bad. We had about 19 plates but the dishes goes on what colour plate you pick. They start from $3.00-$7.50. Overall I'd recommend the sushi train to any one and every one! Who wants to feel like they are in Japan! 🎌🇯🇵 🍙🍘🗾

Took my grandma here for her 85th birthday and it was a total delight! Planted right behind the vidaduct harbor block of restaurants you will find this unique and quaint eatery. The service is very warm and extremely accommodating ☀️. The menu is extensive and even if you don't like sushi you will find something for you! Vegan, paleo, carnivore and gluten free - any dietary requirements can be catered for here! The fish is fresh, the meat is well cooked and the flavor is westerly-Japanese 🍣. Last but not least, it's so much fun! Watching the sushi go around and around is really entertaining and suitable for all ages 😉.

Sushi train visit!<br/> I really enjoyed my time here consuming a lot of sushi dishes! This would probably be one of better places I've ever had sushi ~ the chefs here make sushi fresh right in front of you, you can even request sushi from a menu. <br/><br/> they do have a variety of meats to choose from, definitely the widest selection of things to order off the menu. I really enjoyed all my salmon dishes here, fresh and nicely fatty. The rice here was well done too! Just the perfect about of meat to rice ratio!<br/><br/> It does get very busy, we luckily got seated. The staff are friendly and attentive. I also tried the green tea cola, and it's nice. . In my opinion it just tastes like cola haha. <br/><br/> If you're in the area and craving some good sushi, definitely hit this place up!
Kirsten
Always wanted to give sushi train a go, so today was the day! We were greeted by their friendly staff and were seated right away. It was so great to see the plates of sushi going around in a circle, and being able to pick the plates up yourself. We picked a variety of sushi, including salmon, teriyaki chicken, spider roll, tekka roll sushi, takoyaki, etc. The portions of rice that was underneath the salmon was quite small, almost the size of your thumb! The tamago sweet omelette sushi, had a watery taste to it, and the omelette had grey bits to it. Not fresh at all. Although a nice dining experience, remember to keep up with how many dishes you have. We almost went overboard! They could improve on their sushi though! Eggster Eats

I'm in love with this place.💕 Me and fam had no intention to eat here nor did I have any expectation of this place whatsoever. We happened to pass by here after eating pizza plus I was feeling a bit annoyed earlier so I wasn't really excited. We came around 1pm and the place was packed. There was a family waiting to be seated before us. We entered the place and were immediately greeted by a bubbly waitress called "Kayako" (I think) and were told waiting time would be 20 minutes. Instead, we ended up waiting 10 minutes earlier and were given the list of all the sushi/udons while we waited as well. I think we were somehow convinced to wait there even though we had other plans. I've always liked the idea of sushi trains because it's interactive and creates a more fun way of choosing what to order. They also happen to have a winter special where mini udons cost $3.50 instead of $5.50 which is really worth checking out.<br/><br/>We ended up ordering 3 mini udons(Karaage and Tempura), $1 tea pp, and yummy sushi+small cupped desserts. The price of their tea were pretty affordable plus it's really good in cleansing the digestive system. <br/><br/>Mini udons: I was told the mini udons were apparently delicious. They're not actually that small, maybe almost half the size of a normal udon bowl. The noodles were apparently nice, soft, and tasty. Each bowl actually had a decent amount of noodles. <br/><br/>Sushi: Man I really couldn't get over the grilled salmon+torched cream cheese on top sushi. I only had 1 and it tasted the absolute best out of all the sushi I've ever had. It just melted pure deliciousness in my palate. I'm not complaining even though it was a bit pricey for $5.50 a plate with 2 pieces cause it really tasted amazing. You really get your money's worth. The flavours just burst in my palate. It was sensational. I felt really extremely happy. I could eat it everyday without getting sick of it. -->Rating: 100/5<br/><br/>***2x salmon with mayonnaise and springed onion+sliced purple onion on top sushi for $4.50. The salmon tasted fresh. The onions really complemented the salmon. It tasted divine. I'm not too sure about the mayonnaise cause it's not very healthy. --> Rating: 4.5/5<br/><br/>***3x mini salmon+avocado+cream cheese with sesame seeds sushi for $4.00 which originally has 6 pieces. Anything with sesame seeds is super yummy for me. It upgraded the overall taste of the sushi immensely. Avocado always goes well with salmon and rice. --> Rating: 4/5<br/><br/>Sushi overall: All the sushi seem to be freshly made by the sushi chefs there. They really put a lot of passion into their work. The size of each sushi per plate is pretty reasonable. Even the cheaper sushi tastes great and doesn't lack flavour. It still tastes nice. Although, if you really want to experience authentic Japanese cuisine then try the orange and green coloured plates. They are slightly pricier than usual but taste SUPER delicious. You won't regret it. I really craved eating more sushi cause it all tasted amazing but felt full a few sushis later. I suggest sharing the sushi and eating only 1 piece of sushi per plate so you don't get filled up easily. You also get a chance to try more types of sushi as well. Although, if you happen to really like the 1 you ate then eat another one of the same kind. --> Overall sushi rating: 4.5/5<br/><br/>Small cupped desserts: I had the mousse with chocolate on top for $4.50 which was fine but not the best. It was bit too small. I still liked it though since it wasn't too sweet for me. It had one layer with cream and another with a coffee flavoured layer I think. It was okay but was a bit too runny and creamy for my liking. The sushi beats it all the way. --> Rating: 3.5/5<br/><br/>The price you pay in total is determined by the colour of your plate. In total, we only payed around $50 which was pretty cheap for 5 people since it included mini udons+tea+many delicious sushi+small cupped desserts.<br/><br/>The only critique I will give is adding variety to their sushi since some seem repetitive. I also suggest they expand the seating as well since I think they only had roughly 8 tables plus a few seats. <br/><br/>Service was quick and efficient. It's really cool how they greet new customers coming in by shouting "irasshaimase" all together. I really felt like I was in Japan. The interior was so artistic yet so simple. It's pretty well designed. They have cute soy sauce pumps too. There's also blackboard+chalk available on the other side of the restaurant for kids. They really accommodate the needs of their customers well since there were some families there with their children. <br/><br/>Sushi trains are so unique since they make ordering more fun. You get to try different sushi with surprising flavours making it more interesting. Ambience was great and chilled since the music playing didn't sound too loud cause they had nice speakers. I really saw how communicative staff were to each other showing solid teamwork. Now this is a place I'd love to go back to. Everyone's really friendly and welcoming. It's rated A as well and the toilets are super clean so 10/10 for hygiene. <br/><br/>I will never regret coming here at all. I highly recommend this place if you're interested in Japanese culture/food. I'll be coming back here a lot once I've saved up a lot of money.

Awesome food and incredible variety. Would definitely be coming back here. Salmon volcano sushi is the best by a long shot as well as a lot of the snack like stuff.
Mia Hendrix
I've been a few times and think the food is great, have found the cost fine when split between you. It allows for split bills. Don't go on a Monday though! Food is less fresh and not made frequently. Love the fried chicken and their sushi.
Frank
Awesome sushi spot in a great location. Everyone loves a sushi train, including us unqualified amateur diners. It was packed with people, and more waiting to get in :-) The selection was overwhelming with so many variations, the salmon volcano being a particular favourite! Can suddenly become expensive though, as you take dishes without any real idea of the cost, so I ended up paying more than I expected... One downside was being served a glass of water in a plastic cup with lipstick on the lip, come on guys, follow the lead of your neighbour Mojo and do it right with a complimentary bottle of sparkling water served in glass. Overall impression: very friendly staff, lack of ambience, but great selection.
Danielle Jacobs
Service was average , the sushi was not to my taste , would have appreciate descriptions of the sushi being served , and to top it off an extra 15 percent service was added to the bill which as a tourist is unheard of and we should have been informed prior to ordering
Ken White
We used to eat at this sushi restaurant fairly regularly. Maybe it's changed hands, but now ( January 2016) we would describe the quality and variety as only average. A drop from what we previously enjoyed in mid 2015.
Priscilla Khang
This was my first experience at Sushi Train. My boyfriend was looking forward to taking me here as he thinks this is the BEST sushi train ever. I completely agree with him. Service is brilliant and staff are super friendly. All the grilled dishes were the best, especially the grilled scallops, they were so soft and just melted in my mouth. The beautiful smokey flavour was just amazing I will always remember it!

Sushi train is such an innovative idea and if you are a sushi lover then it can be good and bad. Good to see sushi continously coming through, bad for the pocket 😊😊<br/>I have walked past this restaurant few times but eventually got a chance to try it out. Tried on my own but it's a to-be-shared place.<br/>I loved the different types of sushis which I haven't seen before. Sushis are very fresh and looks very tempting. I could have stayed there whole day and kept trying all the different types of sushis.<br/>I will definitely come back with friends.
Stephen Bowles
I'm a big van of this Sushi Train. The service is always great and the sushi always fresh (I highly recommend the volcano role) but I do warn you that it gets really busy around lunch time.
Wayne Potgieter
Mediocre to say the least.<br/><br/>Rice very loose and sushi almost impossible to eat cleanly.<br/><br/>The little packets with ginger are infuriating. <br/><br/>Dont think in a city with so much sushi choice that we will be back.<br/><br/>
Summerlee Fataoui Schick
I love comming here for either takeaways or dine in. They always have a nice fresh selection of sushi and at a good price for viaduct dining. The wasabi packs a punch. I lovr the teriyaki chicken mini 6 peice.
Brave Eat
I have been here so many times and the food always tastes amazing.  I do find that sometimes nigiri rice is falling apart, but this depends on who makes it. I highly recommend grilled sushi. Service is ok, but I wish they had more staff roaming around as I like order my sushi fresh, but the staff are always busy cleaning and not serving. Price is not cheap but do try this place at least once!

Been here a few times before already. The customer service here is good. Waitresses are friendly. <br/><br/>The sushi selection on the conveyor/belt is quite limited and seems like some of the sushi or food there have been sitting there for a while as other customers didn't want those dishes. Like the squid rings weren't crispy. The crumb coating was all soggy. <br/><br/>But their menu has a pretty good selection of sushi that you can request to be "made to order" and there are warm food that too can order like udon, donburi etc. udon is pretty good. Not as flavoursome and the noodles are very firm. Like they haven't cooked it long enough. The sea urchin sushi is quite fishy that it's so unpleasant to eat and that after taste. Ugh. Gross. Their aburi and "ship" selections are pretty darn good though. <br/><br/>Price range is ok but have been to cheap sushi trains
Chadman Tahere
the staff here are super friendly, and walking in for the first time just amazed me.<br/>this is my first time in sushi train and seeing food being served on a conveyor belt was enticing and made me eat heaps because its such a fun way to be served.<br/><br/>i had the Avocado and tuna roll<br/>the deep fried prawn roll and teriyaki chicken.<br/>the flavours were yum and the price was kinda worth it.<br/><br/>they have different coloured plates which are different in prices. <br/>although i felt there wasn't much of a wow factor from the different priced sushi, <br/>sushi train sure does make great sushi<br/><br/>awesome team awesome food, i will be a guaranteed returning customer here :)

Have just recently visited this restaurant again after a long time. They have changed the ownership again. The sushi was alright with a range of variety, however the hygiene and the customer service were still horrible as always. After drinking the glass of water that the waitress gave me, I noticed the mark of some one's lipstick on my glass. It seems the previous customer drank from it and the people there did not wash the glass well before serving me. I complaint to the waitress and she just rudely said sorry. She also seemed to make jokes about it with the other waitress. I regret that I did not ask to speak to their manager. I would give this restaurant a rating of 4 but because of their stink customer service, I gave it a 2.

I stopped coming to Sushi Train a few years ago when the place had really gone downhill. Now working nearby, I gave it another go for a quick lunch, and was pleasantly surprised to see the decor had been modernised. We sat at one of the new booths, which instantly made us feel more like we were diners about to enjoy a meal, and less like a seedy old man sitting at a bar (the way it used to be.) <br/><br/>The sushi, looked amazing.. Not just your average roll of rice and filling, it too has had a complete makeover. Each plate was beautifully presented, as you'd expect from a Japanese dining experience, but it was the unique toppings that really set the dishes apart. Our favourite was the rice bubbles that have a nice crunch in contrast to the soft rice and avocado.<br/><br/>The Karaage Chicken was a highlight, as was the soft shell crab. A nice addition to the train was this inclusion of desserts. Fairly simple.. Consisting of basics like jelly and chocolate mousse, but well welcomed by families taking their kids to enjoy the novelty of the train. <br/><br/>The new Sushi Train has become a favourite spot for lunch, although it is pricey, so we'll be visiting only when standard takeaway sushi just won't cut it.

When we first moved from Christchurch to Auckland, I was thrilled to find out that Auckland had not just one, but several sushi trains! Call it a novelty or a gimmick, but I love seeing lots of little sushi platters going past, tempting you to pick one up (or two, or three…)<br/><br/>We stumbled across the aptly named Sushi Train during a stroll around Viaduct Harbour. At that time it was undergoing renovations, but a few months later we came back, and were greeted with a nicely done-up little place. There were tables all along the sides of the conveyor belt where the sushi plates were circling, and the chefs were in the centre making fresh sushi. We were greeted by a friendly waitress, who seated us quickly and took our drink orders.<br/><br/>This place functions in a similar manner to other sushi trains I’ve tried – the plates are color-coded according to price, so you pile your plates up after you are done and they tally the price from there. Aside from the large variety of sushi on the conveyor belt, you can order hot dishes which will be made to order. There was already heaps of dishes on the train – nigiri, rolls, sashimi, snacks, desserts – but I ordered an agedashi tofu and soft shell crab (both $5.50) anyway, as well as a grilled prawn sushi ($4.50). The bf eschewed the a la carte dishes, choosing instead to pile on the plates from the train.<br/><br/>My favourite sushi from the train was the salmon & ikura ship ($7.50) – salmon sashimi wrapped around the rice, with ikura (salmon roe) on top. The salmon roe bursts in your mouth, and combined with fresh raw salmon, is pure heaven. My agedashi tofu was only average, but the grilled prawn was perfectly done, and the soft shell crab was amazing value for money. A specialty of theirs appears to be the volcano roll ($5.50) where scallop, kanikama and cream cheese are put on rice and the whole thing is flamed in front of your eyes. Lots of people ordered that, but we gave it a miss.<br/><br/>All in all, decent food and a good variety of dishes both hot and cold. As a side note both of us did get mild food poisoning later that night, but we can’t be sure whether it was this place that contributed to it, or other food that we ate.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here since it's opening days and we are always happy to pick our sushi from a conveyer belt anytime. Otherwise the chef in the middle of the sushi train usually makes our sushi right away! The experience is always lovely and the udon is tasty.

My partner and I had dinner here this Sunday evening. The restaurant wasn't very busy, but enough people coming in and out at the train that we could tell the sushi turnover would be good. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, the lady who greeted and seated us was polite and friendly. We were seated directly in front of one of the chefs and really enjoyed watching him prepare the sushi. <br/><br/>While the sushi isn't the best I've had in Auckland, it's still great quality and taste, value for money and a fun eating experience. The 'Volcano Roll' seems to be a popular order. We really enjoyed the fresh King Fish nigiri, and the salmon sashimi was generous and delicious. <br/><br/>For those who have never eaten at a train before, the directions here are very clear and simple, and where we weren't sure about what to do or what we were eating, we felt comfortable asking the chef or the server. We had a great low-key time and will definitely be going back again, probably next time with friends.

Our new favorite place now, being there a few times. Good food, the sushi on the train looks fresh too. <br/><br/>The Chef at the counter is accommodating even it was closer to their closing time.. <br/><br/>Service was good, most likely they have improved since the previous review..

I go here quite often and have always been pleased with the food. The service used to be a little off at times but never so bad that I wouldn't go back. However I went there with my husband last night and something had changed, for the better!<br/>The staff on arrival and throughout the evening were extremely pleasant and helpful, the food was just as good, if not better in some cases (for example the grilled scallop nigiri was AMAZING! thick slices of scallop grilled to perfection). <br/>The orders we made were quick to come out and all the food was extremely fresh.<br/>We thought something was different and asked if they had changed owners and apparently they have within the last few months (I think the last time we went was early this year, so since then). I highly recommend it now 100% and we will definitely be going back again very soon.

sushi small and it is very expensive comparing with normal sushi shop, the service isn't great. Not recommended for value.

You must order the Volcano Roll .. it's made to order and is to die for!

The worst sushi experience I've had in Auckland, and I love sushi. Went at midday on a Sunday. Place was busy but a long, long wait for the "train" to bring anything slightly interesting around. 2 adults, 3 small kids. Only had a soft drink each and the bill came to $130!!!!! A huge ripoff on uninspiring small portions. Will never visit again. A disgrace to the word "sushi"
Bernice Tsai
Bad service from the female manager. Put on a long face and ignored us. Only smiled to us when she saw we were going to pay. She ruined everything. Never visit again!!<br/><br/>The food was fine and the service from other staff was good. However, the female manager has to improve her customer service for sure!!!!

This used to be my fav place for sushi, but after the change of ownership I don't think I'll return. The portions have shrunk and the quality is bad. I also had a loyalty card I wanted to redeem. The voucher showed $1,000 of purchases and they refused to accept it. Finally, they put my takeaway sushi into the bag sideways so everything got squashed and leaked everywhere! Such a shame.

Experienced Auckland Sushi Train this weekend – and had to agree with some other reviewers – a disappointing experience <br/>The items going around the train all looked the same – a sort of unhealthy look that didn’t tantalise the taste buds. They had a menu of items that you could order from but again didn’t really appeal. They were making items in front of you – but was astounded to see some of the fillings came from pre prepared bags – squeezed onto rice. <br/>The service staff were all hiding around the back so any chance of asking for anything else was nearly impossible. Generally it was like being in a tatty run down establishment – could do better

Sushi rice is fine. Some seafood isn't fresh. Best idea is to go dine with someone gifted sharp eyes or keep on ordering salmon stuff.

The worst Japanese Restaurant experience. Do not go!!!!<br/>The seafood's not fresh, the service was extremely Bad!!!!!!!<br/>The lady told us can order if not on the train, then gave us a menu, decided what to order then tried to call the staff, A rude Japanese staff told us ''You just wait'' then went away chat with someone sounds like his mate or so.<br/>Wtf!!!!!!! Left there waiting over half hour, then another girl came and ordered for us, No smile (like all their family died!!!) No thank you!<br/>And I felt not well after getting home, will never go there again and warn others do not go there only if you want poison food and cold face !!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the sushi - fresh and reasonably priced. Love the concept of just sitting around and being able to choose your food. Edamame was served cold tho, which was weird... but edible nonetheless.

We always enjoy Sushi Train. Great variety of sushi and very yummy. Always a fun experience and friendly staff. It is expensive but you don't mind paying more for the selection and fun of it. Just wish we could have had sake with lunch as alcohol is only served with dinner.

Great Sushi especially the braised Salmon and Snapper.<br/>As takeout it was better than the service when eating there. <br/>Price was higher but you know it is fresh as you can see them making it and can request anything you want.
Ryan Judd
good concept, good was nice.. but quite expensive and staff were as lifeless as the dead fish they were serving up.

Seafood is not fresh.<br/>I went there last month, I'm not sure why as about a year ago I said I'd never go back again after feeling completely unsatisfied with the taste of the sushi. <br/><br/>Anyway, the last time I went, i ordered the Raw Snapper Nigiri, when it arrived the Snapper was Yellow (not clear white as fresh snapper should be) and smelled really fishy, so I brought it to the attention of the waitress who directly looked at the chef. The Chef asked me what was wrong and i asked "is this fresh Snapper?" he took the plate, ate one piece and said "it is ok and it is how it is supposed to be, do you still want it?" He wasn't convincing, so i declined.<br/><br/>My view is that this place has the potential to do well, yet their product and service has consistently let them down. They need to offer better value for money and a much better product.

Lemme share with you one of my worst experience I have ever encountered at a restaurant.<br/>Last night I went to sushi train with family and friends, while looking forward to this event and to try out their sushi all I got was utter bad service. I cannot believe the level of service that this 'so-called' restaurant provided. I understand they were busy at the time, but coming from a service industry myself there were no excuses for the waitress/managers' attitude. <br/>We were seated down relatively quickly however, everything just went down-hill from there. Upon several requests for utensils I finally got up to do it the traditional way- myself. She disrespectfully screamed "What do you want?!", on top of this, throughout the whole meal, she glared and stared at me.<br/><br/>The waitress's bad attitude did not stop there and persisted throughout the night <br/><br/>My experience at sushi train was the worst service experience I've ever encountered and hopefully all of those who hear this story think again before choosing to dine at this restaurant due to the utter bad service. If your going there just for the average food then you'll be fine but will be highly disappointed with the level of service

It is one of the most overprice japanese sushi restaurant i go to.<br/>I first went there 2 years ago, it was gd and qulity of food is gd, right size right price. But dont know since what happen, they increased the price and make the sushi way smaller than before.<br/>the size of the sushi is 1/4 of the one 2 years ago, so small that dont taste any. and the sushi dont taste gd anymore.

for a japanese restaurant that really famous in customer service, this place is really bad.. staff not really helping in the way of service, two female staff just keep talking by themself and laughing, it gives a hard time to get their attention, but about the food, is pretty good, somehow i noticed the food portion gettin smaller from last time i visited here..

i had expected great things from sushi train as i loved it in australia! <br/>the food was very enjoyable but like mentioned below, the customer service was shocking. it was 40 mins to closing time when we arrived but the whole time we were there it was like the staff couldnt wait to get out of there, they werent very helpful, you had to wait for ages to catch the attention of staff as there was nothing much going round on the conveyer belt and they werent very friendly.<br/>they also practically kicked us out at five to nine. <br/>so good food but crap custeromer service, would reccommend for food only.

Our grandchildren really like this place - and it gives them a good healthy feed for treats - especially after they have been to the Tepid Baths. Since we first went there with them a couple of years ago, the zizz seems to have gone. Today, service was slow, the choice of sushi was limited. The waiting staff didn't seem to take as much interest in the customers as they did the previous time. Food quality is ok - but not startling. Used to do better - but good for kids. Three adults and three children cost just over $100.
Samantha
really yummy food, reasonable price and very quick and friendly service!
Tino
Incredible expensive for the service given. <br/>Food quality is not the best for the price they are asking fr; it seems not very fresh and a local version of sushi.
Jules
Incredibly disappointed with the sushi. I had come to Sushi Train a couple of years before and had enjoyed the food. The staff were nice and there was at least one english speaker on hand to help when we had a question.<br/><br/>All that seems to have changed when we went last evening. The sushi smelled much too fishy and the tuna must have been frozen, not fresh, because a piece I bit in to was frozen solid. Even some of the rice was undercooked. When I tried to complain the staff stared at me blankly. Finally a manager came up to solve the problem but she was rude and acted as if I was bothering her!<br/><br/>I would never go back to this restaurant. There are other good sushi restaurants in Auckland don't waste your money here.

Went there with my family. It wasn't too crowded but the place wasn't very big. There wasn't as much variety of sushi going around as I thought there would be. It was quite disappointing to see the same few flavours rotating in front of you and you can get bored of eating there because nothing new comes up. The quality of the sushi wasn't especially great either it was just O.K. I most likely wouldn't go back there again.

Went here for dinner, alot of fun picking your dish. But it took awhile for the right stuff to come around, got there when it was full and the staff were busy carrying out orders for those on tables. Food and service (pleasant waiters with drinks etc) was great and would definately go back.Fresh

Yum! Yum! Yum! I hadn't been to Sushi Train in so long. I was so impressed with the great selection of plates chugging past our perches at the bar on a recent hot lunchtime in the city Colour coded plates correspond to the price, ranging from $3 for generally 3 pieces of fresh and tasty sushi to $7.50 for 6 pieces of delicious prawn katsu. Other tasty combinations like avocado and asparagus, salmon both cooked and raw, octopus, sashimi, spring rolls, inari, and edamame tempt you to eat more than you should or need! Ginger soy and wasabi are freely available. And there are extra offerings of udon and donburi to order if that's your favourite. And if you have a sweet tooth there are a number of jelly, tiramisu, or mousse desserts travelling on the train too! The staff are all very polite and helpful, they have high chairs and it's great value What more could you ask for ?!
