Review Geeks On Sainsbury - Auckland Central

Jessica Ureste (Jess)
The flat white was great. Staff were friendly. The waffle sandwich was so delicious! The waffle itself tasted perfect and the sandwich filling just added to the flavor.

Met my son here for a quick lunch. Friendly and fast service. I had gf bagels with poached eggs. Lovely presentation.
Andrew Woods
Love the vibe and the food. Always feel welcomed and they do the best scrambled eggs. 10/10.

Always love stopping by when I’m in the area, had the pup with me today and staff were extremely friendly with her. Even got spoiled with treats! Really great coffee spot.

We had pink smoothie green smoothie eggs bene and scrambled eggs and bacon. Sparkling water. Free! Amazing service and quick food delivery. The eggs bene looked beautiful but my son didn't like the kale or the thicker bacon rashers. I think those are more personal reasons as the food was still tasty. My meal of scrambled eggs and bacon with sourdough was beautiful. The eggs were fluffy and the sourdough was fresh. The bacon was nice and thick. The smoothies were lovely and it's awesome that we were offered still or sparkling water at no charge. Only low of the meal was the seating. The cafe was busy so there were only 2 x 2 seater tables available. Which are small. We were a party of 3. There were many large tables taken by single one-party customers. And some groups of 2 at 6-person tables. We squeezed another chair in and made room but it was cramped. It would be nice if people were more mindful of their table choices when eating out on a busy day.

It's one of our favorite cafes in Auckland. Presentation, prices and taste 👌 are within the bracket of satisfaction. I always order their bibimbap and my husband loves their fruits & waffles. If you have a dog, just take the outdoor seats.

Food was very well presented. It looked really appetizing. Taste-wise, it was good but a bit lacking on the oomph. Nonetheless, it was good. Service from the guy staff member was 💯.

Staff are warm and friendly. I was served quickly, and even the dog was offered some treats. My house made granola was gorgeously presented and tasted so good! I was expecting canned fruit, but the fruit was all fresh. Great ambience, plenty of seating both inside and out. I recommend making an effort to find a car park and stop for coffee and a bite to eat.
Joel Beachman
Nice cafe. It was recommended by a friend. The kids like the smoothies. Simple tasty menu with generous portions. Coffee is pretty good. It's not as busy as the Morningside cafes so it's a great option if you struggle with background noise.

The coffee and food was really good. I ordered the bibimbap with extra egg and kimchi. Which was a good portion with the extras. Cold drip coffee was great too. Lots of street parking nearby
Angie
The coffee is so nice. I have ordered cauliflower soup, very tasty👍, overall the foods are all good.
Kat
friendly cafe with attentive and quick service! coffee and food were both yummy 😊 will definitely be back soon!!<br/>

We’ve been coming here when we were still in Mt Albert. We decided to have brunch at Greks as we miss the good food and coffee (a long drive from North Shore). The coffee here is great! Absolutely love their Pokeno Bacon Eggs Benedict and Prawn Dumplings with Melted Mozzarella Fried Kimchi — very tasty!!! My husband like the Geek Burger as the marinated beef was gloriously juicy. 😍
Muna Paotama
Really enjoyed my meal n coffee here. Would highly recommend you to pay them a visit, will certainly be back to try full menu👍

Their coffee has always been high quality with consistency, food has never disappointed us. Even their kids waffles look super cute, swipe 👈🏻 to see.⠀<br/>⠀<br/>𝑬𝒈𝒈𝒔 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒐𝒏: out of coincidence, all of the fam got eggs benedict😂. We got the one with bacon and swapped the layered agria potato with bagels (pic 2). Their hollandaise is always creamy and the right amount of zin from lemon juice. They also offer eggs benny with salmon and tofu. But we end up getting bacon one every time cuz we love bacon just a bit too much🥓⠀

Had lunch here today <br/>Place was packed <br/>I ordered the beef burger <br/>Staff was friendly & helpful <br/>Burger was delicious & tasty!!!<br/>Thanks
Iunki
After reading reviews decided to come to this place in search of good coffee and yammy breakfast food. The half bene was absolutely delicious, the egg was perfectly poached and the hollandaise was not overpowering. The rosti was a great replacement to bread. The flat white was done how it is supposed to be, I watched barista making it and it was done in a proper way which gave me confidence I was in the right place. I would definitely come back again to try moe dishes and for more coffee.

This place is by far my favourite cafe in Auckland so far! Such cheerful staff and bloody good food and coffee! My partner and I come here often for their pokeno bacon eggs bene because it is neeeext level! Highly recommend

Been wanting to try Geeks on Sainsbury for awhile. Was disappointed when they ran out of their signature Eggs Bene and a few other items when we arrived. But it was well into the afternoon so understandable. Had the Geek BiBimbap, very clean and tasty although a bit more sauce might give it a bit more of a lift. We also ordered a DIY dish with poached eggs, bacon, mushrooms, tomato, Avo and side of chutney and butter.Again the individual ingredients tasted great but i felt overall dish was a bit dry and would have been nice if they had a more saucy sauce perhaps a relish or some sort. Overall food was good, service was great and loved to decor. Be sure to come early so you don’t miss out on the Eggs Bene.
Chloe Lee
Super cosy. The staff r so friendly. The food is excellent. Presentation is sooo good. Looks as good as it tastes.<br/>luv bibimbap.

Quaint little cafe with awesome waffles and coffee. Staff is lovely too. Will definitely be back again!

We have just moved into the area. And this is our first time here. We ordered the vegetarian choices. Ciabatta mushroom spinach omelet....DELICIOUS. Also tried the panini eggplant, portobello mushroom....also delicious. I would recommend this place. And I will be back too try other things. Coffee was also good. Well done Geeks on Sainsbury. See you again.

Enjoyed toasts and eggs:) I added salmon, it was good as well! There’s some options and you can ask what their recommendation is.

Heading into the cafe it seems a little tucked away but it is a nice calm place to relax and enjoy the moment either by yourself or with friends. There is parking on the street and also just next door, so it was no hassle to get to the cafe. <br/><br/>The staff were all lovely and seating wasn’t bad for us. If you have a party of more than two people, your best option is to sit on the long benches. Even sitting outside is nice as there is a heater nearby and it is covered. <br/><br/>I ordered the waffles, while my friends ordered the different types of Eggs Benedict (petit size). While the serving size was slightly small, I’m definitely the type that only eats small amounts. So I was able to eat all of my waffles and a pot of tea as well. My friends finished their meals as well. Also, for the Eggs Benedict there is a regular size for those wanting a bigger portion. <br/><br/>No complaints at all regarding the place, but I will have to return to try the other dishes on the menu. Overall, a good first impression!
Candy
Two Eggs Benedict, one with Pokeno Bacon and another with Aoraki Smoked Salmon. The plating of this dish was beautiful. All four eggs was cooked perfectly, with the runny yolk of goodness. The agria potato was a nice touch to the typical eggs benny! I'm more of a fresh salmon kind of girl but it still tasted devine. 9/10
Leah Pereira
Great service and delicious meal! Food arrived surprisingly fast and the cafe itself was nice and cosy. Will definitley be heading here again!
Liandra Misquitta
This seasonal fruit and granola waffle was A M A Z I N G!!! It’s covered in maple peanut butter and has a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to top it off 👌🏼 The place itself has a really nice atmosphere and our dishes arrived pretty quick! Will definitely be going back for another round ☺️

I am so happy to know this cafe today.<br/>I just found here got lost my way and even early morning had crowded lots of customer that makes me go into the shop.<br/>All food is so delicious with good plating especially egg banedict must be ordered .<br/>
Benedict Uy
It is located on the side of the shop area at the corner of Sainbury Road and Morningside Drive. There were quite a few parking spaces across the road by the park.<br/><br/>There was a fair amount of seating, both indoor and outdoor, even in the rain.<br/><br/>We were there fairly early, around 1030 on a Sunday and most of the tables were already full. The menu is standard cafe food with some Korean style dishes in the mix. They also had a cabinet with a nice selection of baked goods.<br/><br/>I had the bibimbap and that was quite nice. The dumplings with kimchi and cheese was also quite tasty. I did find the portions a bit on the small side but the food was quite nice.<br/><br/>Nice cafe, a bit small in size and portions but quite a nice place to stop by.
Hungry Teddy (20% Zomato Gold, Use : HUNG2716)
Came here for a healthy lunch. The egg benedict was great, and the bibimbap was delicious. Mocha was really good too. Fast and friendly service.

A friendly Korean Cafe.<br/>A great mix of ingredients.<br/>Love the way they cooked the potato slices.<br/>Will surely come back and try more on the menu.
Joelyn Lee
Love the petite egg Benny - great portion and delicious hollandaise sauce! Nice kids waffle with lotsa fruit and not forgetting the vanilla ice cream.

SMART. Smart food, smart decor, smart location. Geeks on Sainsbury nailed it in those areas, all of which make a perfect recipe for an excellent cafe. Unfortunately service was lacking where the extras we ordered weren’t provided and there were errors making up the bill. Nonetheless, my crowd and I were very pleased and we all plan on visiting again if we’re in the area!<br/><br/>Their ‘Creamy Mushroom’ dish is one of the best I’ve had. There was a perfect amount of oysters and chilli in the mix and the ciabatta didn’t go soggy like at most places. We also had the ‘Prawn Dumplings’ (with mozzarella & fried kimchi), ‘Pork Salad’ and ‘Aoraki Smoked Salmon’ (Eggs bennedict on a layered agria potato). Each dish was very creative and exceeded our expectations! They were enhanced with their own twist - the rice crusted pork gave the salad an extra flavourful crunch, and the layered potato was a refreshing change from the usual toast.<br/><br/>Despite the errors in service, the staff are very friendly and there’s plenty of on-street parking surrounding the cafe - located in Morningside.

Finally tried the Fried tofu Benedict at Geeks on Sainsbury, it's pretty and neat. Love the fresh avocado 🥑 with perfectly cooked poached eggs. For the fried tofu, it’s different from what I thought, not as crispy, but it’s absolutely delicious!<br/>😋 Highly recommend this!<br/>🧁 Always loves their blueberry cupcakes, not too sweet and the base has a strong coconut taste with coconut flakes.
Zhang Ying
We went there on Sunday, friendly and nice staff with really good manner. Tried their tofu egg benedit and waffle, strong recmmend, really good taste.

Can really taste the skills of the chef on each plate. Delicious food, sublime coffee and friendly service.<br/><br/>Waffles Affogato 5/5<br/>Salmon Eggs Benedict 5/5<br/>Coffee 5/5<br/>Service 5/5

Enjoyed the seasonal fruit waffles very much . Went with my mum for brunch and we both got iced coffees as well . Sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air while being served by the lovely staff . Would recommend and will be back to try more on the menu.
Duchess_Arg
Went here for a brunch on a Sunday. The place was busy, apparently its quite small as well. Overall, had a good experience. The food is yum, as expected. Ordered the waffles with seasonal fruits, pan fried tofu, and pork salad. The salad was on point, with the tofu would love to add a little bit of attention to it. Felt like there’s something missing with the dish. Great service and good food.
Tan Wang
The team are doing some pretty amazing stuff with this small space on the doorstep of St Lukes. Vibes here were off the chain, packed to the brim with customers, strategically placed tables on the inside and beer hall style benches on the outside for those who love a bit of sun.<br/><br/>Food was also amazing, Geeks Burger is on point, not your traditional burger patty, they use a Korean style bulgogi, really interesting and really good. I didn't get to taste anything else but everyone's food looked super delicious. Oh, needless to say, coffee here is delicious too.<br/><br/>Will definitely be back.
Harry Kumar
We got an avocado bagel and their waffles with bacon. The bacon was basically just fat. Hardly any meat. The rest of the waffles dish was amazing though! Only thing that bothered me was that me and my partner felt rushed by the constant question we got asked by the staff ‘ are you finished’ as they grabs our plates, when we weren’t? I would still recommend to others and probably will go back one day!
Jing Jasmine Huang
Very good mocca, but egg benedict has too much and oily potatos. Not suited my teeth. nice out door seats, specially for the summer. Hope their menu could have some more salad choice. Currently is none.
Charissa
I have visited this place a few times and it has been always a pleasant experience. Good food and good coffee just a minor comment on the type of bacon they use. I find it alittle tough and chewy.<br/>
Sammiii
This cafe is very good. Food is amazing. I love my scramble egg. So good, if the bacon is a bit more crispy that will be perfect. :) chips is very very good too. Waffle were yummy. We left with full tummy<br/><br/>Parking were not so good.<br/><br/>Service: 8/10<br/>Food: 8/10<br/>Price: 8/10
Its Me
A nice friendly local cafe that's run by Korean I think they ve got more than one cook because sometimes I get my eggs ok and sometimes it's super over cooked and I personally don't like any of their whatever got to do with potatoe dishes only because for me how they do their potatoes are too soggy for me (I like mine crispy) it's kynda annoying to see their chefs smoking their kitchen uniform in the conner of their building too but after all I like crave way better so..
Kiwi FIFO Chef
Polite, friendly service and great food and coffee make this a sought out and popular place among the locals and those further away. Taken here for my wife’s birthday brunch treat, two of us opted for the eggs benny, and two for the salmon version, served with a decent smear of avocado mash. Eggs were perfectly cooked, the hollandaise sauce a rich yellow, and the bed of special layered potato gratin is a nice point of difference. The coffees are well made and nicely presented, with a good temperature too - so good in fact, we had to have two cups! If you haven’t been before, get along and try Geeks on Sainsbury.
Nina
Super friendly. <br/><br/>Good coffee. <br/><br/>One of the rare places in Auckland where a blueberry muffin is actually full of blueberries. But I’m not a cream cheese and blueberry fan. <br/><br/>Would definitely return.
David Ting
Great service from waiting staff. Good place to catch up with friends and excellent coffee. However the menu options are a bit limited and the food is pretty standard brunch food.
Wei
Absolutely delicious food! My friend and I couldn't decide between the eggs benedict and waffles so we got both. Zero regrets either, they were both incredible and beautifully presented. The waffles had so many elements and layers of flavour from the sweet fresh fruit, chocolate, peanut butter, bacon, maple syrup, ice cream and more. Service was also prompt and very friendly. I like the location, parking is easy to find and it's not pretentious or busy like Ponsonby
Laurie Huang
Food just ok but not with the prices, the waiters just had no smile and attitude just impolite make you feel like you should not be here! Never come back again!
FranziLuisa13
All I say is: The waffles are to die for! Yummy crunchy granola on fresh waffles, with banana and ice cream. It’s rather a desert than a “proper meal“, but just right to please your sweet tooth!
Hemei Men
Very quick service only took 10 minutes to get what we ordered. It was amazing seeing how different kinds of food were placed on the dish to deliver a decent taste.
Sophia Wang
Saw this place on Zomato and my friend and I wanted a place to eat brunch close to St Lukes so we went here for the first time and it was delicious! Best eggs Benedict I’ve had - they had this delicious potato base, I ordered a petite one with extra bacon and my friend got a regular one. Friendly service and a very cute place to eat brunch after a night 😍
Hasiba Zareh
They have done so well with the little amount of space they have! The inside is like a triangular shape, really cool concept. I was lucky that it wasnt too busy 12pm on a Saturday, however I think this place can get super congested when it is. <br/><br/>The waffles were great! Super filling! <br/>I will be heading back to try some other stuff on the menu.
Jeffie
Just came in for a weekend breakfast. Service and ambience are cafe standard. We had an iced latte, flat white, avacado & salmon bagel and a BLT bagel. The food didn't take too long despite being rather busy there, it was nice and well presented.
Roimata Edwards
Buzzing cafe. Good food, little slow. Friendly and approachable service. Food presentation was great! Food a little underwhelming for cost. Rated high 3!!
Daniel
Standouts:<br/>The amazing, efficient, attentive and friendly service that went the extra mile <br/>The delicious food that not only is instagram-ready but tastes as good as it looks <br/><br/>Room for improvement:<br/>Water wasn’t offered at our table but we didn’t ask so not a biggie

Black bean noodles are my favourite food and the ones here were the beat!!!!! So excited to go back!!! Chips were amazing too!!! Gonna bring all my friends here
Berna
This place looks like your typical neighbourhood cafe located on the corner of Sainsbury Rd and Morningside Drive, but boy oh boy their food was delicious! I had ordered salmon & avo bagel (wished they had added more avo) and my mate had the burger with shoestring fries. Also we had the caramel slice to share from the cabinet. There are a few things on their menu that I want to try next time i.e the bibimpab and the waffle.
George CY
Nice place with nice food. Beef burger is so yummy and I like the table number . They are letters from A to Z. That’s really interesting. I will try another food next time
Auckland Foodie
Unfortunately didn‘t offer any eggs Benedict for some reason when I was there. So I ordered the waffles instead and was glad I did because they were absolutely delicious!
Emily
This place is frikin’ awesome. Great service and incredibly unique and delicious food! We have tried many different items off the menu and every single one of them has been top notch. My personal favourite is the tofu eggs bene (with a side of their house made kimchi)!
Marina Samountry
Eggs Benedict are a highlight. Instead of a traditional English muffin they’ve got a thick and crispy potato slice. Attentive and fast service and a creative atmosphere. Will be back!
Miura Elikana
This place has a rustic feel, friendly service. Food was great, eggs cooked to perfection and the summer fruits were fresh. Would recommend and return again.

Hands down one of the best brunch places in Auckland! I don't know what more anyone could want that Geeks doesn't offer: lovely, attentiveness serving staff; beautifully presented dishes; and a relaxed, bright interior. The Pork Salad was a really inventive dish that I haven't seen elsewhere, with flavour-packed pork crusted with crunchy sunflower seeds. This dish was an absolute taste and texture sensation, and the pieces of fresh apple really paired well with the pork. Tying it together was a super fresh yuzu vinaigrette, which we really enjoyed. The waffles were VERY crispy, and held up sitting under perfectly formed balls of ice-cream for a good 10 minutes before we got to them after polishing off the Pork Salad. Loved how the maple sauce was on the side so we could control for sweetness. The fruit waffle was my personal favourite because of that beautifully poached fruit - so much flavour, and perfect in texture - but the banana waffles were heavenly too! Shoutout to the barista for a perfect latte as well!
Sandi
The setting is great and it’s always full of people, but unfortunately the barista is keen to demo his latte art. This results in over extracted coffee with lukewarm milk. Looks great but tastes, well, meh. <br/><br/>It would also be good if they didn’t try to charge twice for orders!
JPK
Wonderful breakfast and a coffee... Fresh baked options are really good. <br/>Muffins and caramel slice is just yummy everytime I have tried it.<br/>Raspberry and White chocolate is my favourites.
Victoria Birch
Come here often and the experience is always great. I love the yellow smoothie, it is insanely delicious. Very light also which means I have room to eat! The food here is great, everything from the eggs benedict to a simple scrambled eggs on ciabatta is yum! Definitely one of my favourite brunch spots in Auckland
Katie Carroll
Really good coffee, food, ambience and super friendly service! I would recommend this to everyone. I had the GF bibimbap and it was delicious, full of flavour and a great balance. They’re also dog friendly :)
Nik Kho
Went here for brunch with my partner and her sister. Service was good, the lady who served us was friendly. Location is good with ample on street parking. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Pokeno Bacon and we shared a side of Dumplings with mozzarella cheese fried kimchi. The dumplings were delicious! The eggs were cooked perfectly but I didn’t quite like how the bacon was cooked - a bit chewy for me. Overall, everything was good. Definitely will keep coming back.
Rijuta Gawri
The preserved fruit waffles are to die for but ever since they switched from Red Rabbit to Flight Coffee, I've stopped going there. Great food for your Instagram if you're into gramming food though. Go for the food, not the coffee, sorry.
JKG
Came here for a quick and small meal during lunch time. We ordered one mocha, a flat white and a “petite” eggs benedict with bacon. Loved the fact that they had a “petite” portion size for their eggs benedict. This meant that I got a perfectly sized meal, at a perfect price - no wastage of food and money. The service was fast and the staff were pleasant. Had a good experience and would definitely return to have a full sized meal here.
Rina
Coffee was good, food looks nice but is pretty average. Serving is small for eggs benny, but large for bagels. Service is great!<br/><br/>Read detailed review of each item I ordered at @snowrii on instagram
Yi Lin Inez Zheng
Superb coffee, large spacing and lovely decor with an industrial feel but Nordic Art Deco + Swedish raw wood design furnitures. Plants are definitely a bonus. Food menu was brilliant and covered many moods and diets across the board. Also very well presented and sized. Goodies cabinet seemed full of wonders as well. Cosy, not too loud friendly atmosphere. Will pop by again on weekends.
Foodiesquarepants
My first cafe love. Geeks was my first exposure to cafe food, and let's just say I would have saved a lot of money if I didn't like their food. <br/>Menu consists of quality classics. They don't do anything special, rather just get the basics spot on.
Tanisha Jowsey
The string fries and aoli are fantastic as is the coffee. The tofu eggs benedict is yum (except for the tofu). The seats are hard. Great service.
Georgiapeters24
YUM! Great coffee great food. The chips are heavenly. Needs better parking!!! Some of the tables are a bit awkward but that's only coz the space is so small. But as they say good things come in small packages :)
Patrick Siose Pereira
This place is usually crazy busy! Which can only mean good things. Despite the crowds the service was very good and they keep you updated on the status of your order. Coffee is very good and the food is delicious and its presentation is amazing! Loving the korean-ness?! Awesome place and the ratings are fully justified. Would recommend and will definitely go back soon.
Matthew Wallis
Blink and you might miss this cafe! It has the best waffles I have ever had! My wife had the eggs Benedict which looked fantastic as well This definitely a hidden gem in Morningside I will be going back for the Waffles!
Andrea
Really cosy cafe! Loved the interior, staff was friendly the food was 👌🏼👌🏼. If you can't decide on whether to get the waffle or the eggs bene, go with the waffles!
Roger Dalton
I've been here several times now and haven't been disappointed. First tried the eggs Benedict, great hollandaise sauce n homemade hash... Nice. Muffins and slices a bit small but made with love.. But my go to now are the Waffles with homemade toasted granola(lovely n crunchy) ice cream, carameĺ sauce n peanut butter (I'm an addict). For a breakfast dish it's pretty well crafted everything works well n the peanut butter just chimes in (your thinking to your self there's something familiar n boom u realise its tge peanut butter) oh yep n there are bananas as well... great...
Jc
Had their eggs benedict. Eggs and the potato stack was perfect. However the sauce was a let down. Very bland I honestly can not taste a hint of salt in it. Probably my fault for ordering a "normal dish" in a korean cafe. Will try some of their signature dishes next time.
Angel Cueva
This place is one of my favourites. I always just passed this place as I went to work in the mall, and it immediately caught my eye. Finally having eaten there, it is a really cute little hidden gem that has a lot to offer
Simone Mulitalo
Love this little cafe. They do beautiful food and make the presentation look magical. I've never has eggs Benedict quite like this before. The staff were all friendly and helpful
Chomnomnom
Geeks on Sainsbury is the perfect brunch spot, wide selection on offer with the normal staples. We opted for the eggs bene, extra points for half portions! Egg was perfectly cooked, and the hash was something different. Cupcake, nomnomnom
ChiChi Vareeroy
Love their friendly staff and amazing food. Will definitely go back to try more food! Fast service and their kids waffle looked delicious. 😊
Eeram
We love this place. I come here regularly for take away coffees (latte) and have never been disappointed. The iced coffee is also one of the best I've ever had. The service and ambience is always amazing even when they're completely full. Their eggs bene has all the right components (on potato yayyyy!) and for me it's the perfect size. I've set myself the challenge of finding the best eggs bene and coffee in Auckland and this is definitely top of my list at the moment! AND they have free sparkling water which is just the icing on the cake.
Emily
Had eggs benedict since they were famous for it but didnt really understand why after trying it out. It was plain average..<br/>This place is an ok place to eat but i feel it is over-rated and over priced for the quality of their food.
N.S
I didn't realize how much I was coming here for my bagel fix until one of the lovely girls who work there was like '.. Yeah you look really familiar' ... Ahh please take that back because then you vaguely know my order and you know I don't come here to play games especially on a seedy Sunday hahaha.<br/><br/>It's a quaint and cute cosy setting, wasn't a fan of the school like tables but I've really come to enjoy them and have had to come to terms with talking to people like 'ah can we sit here?' Cool cause I'm sitting down anyway.<br/><br/>Presentation of food is so darling to look at. From the flowers, to the centre placing on dishes. Even from the get go you're excited before even tasting your meal. Incredible.<br/><br/>I wish this place was bigger! Because it would eradicate my fear of waking up on Sunday at 11am thinking... It's probably packed by now, God damn it why didn't I get up earlier D: <br/><br/>

Never thought finding such a nice cafe in sandringham was really nice fitout.<br/>Been there on monday late afternoon was really quite.<br/>Had a aeropress  and my miss had flat white my filter was amazing but her coffee was really milky not enough flavour.will come back to try their menu.
Chantal Hoeft
One of my favourite cafes. Fruit waffles are a go-to, coffee is always hot and perfect, staff are super friendly and welcoming! Can't go wrong with geeks 😍
Olivia890312
Beautiful presentation of their food, we had their eggs benny on deep fried potato gratin , not warm enough . But the poached eggs cooked perfectly.
Jason Zhang
One word - delicious.<br/><br/>Situated opposite of St Lukes mall, this is my go-to cafe. It's Korean owned and it serves delicious breakfast and lunch by the friendly waitresses. The drinks are fast and nice. The Eggs Benedict is a go-to dish for me as it's not your everyday eggs benedict - the taste is amazing and you will never get sick of it, also it's served hot. The presentation carries the wow factor and the good quality ingredients they use is the main difference between a normal eggs benedict and this - you will need to try it yourself. All dishes are presented nicely and cooked tasty which shows the chefs are both efficient and very skilled. The price, though a tiny bit high, is worth the dishes' presentation, taste, size, and the service is a bonus. The menu contains all the healthy ingredients and drinks you'll need for the day. You can choose to dine inside a simple-designed cafe or outside facing the greens. $40 for two is expected. Overall, it's delicious and efficient. <br/>Taste - 10/10<br/>Size - 9/10<br/>Price - 8/10<br/>Service - 10/10
Kirsten
Due to their high ratings and good reviews on here, I couldn't help but visit this cafe! Ordered the cappuccino and the Chicken Quinoa Salad. Absolutely great service to the front of house staff! The cappuccino was good, however I think it may have needed a more stronger coffee taste to it. The crema was not smooth and creamy, so it would be quite similar to a flat white. So a 7/10 for the coffee. However, their Chicken Quinoa Salad was delicious! I've never had quinoa before, but it tasted quite nice and the pumpkin puree? tasted great with it! The chicken was.cooked beautifully with the mesclun and beans! I give the salad a 9/10!

Really loved Geeks On Sainsbury! Great coffee and delicious food with fast and friendly service. Super cool decor and clean setting. Would recommend to others and will be returning.

This place I was really rooting for, the moment we walked in the vibe was postive, the interior design was trendy, the staff were friendly. It's like the friend you really hope will do well but doesn't. I feel like this place focuses on appearance and whilst takes risks to excel in image, fails to be ambitious in flavour. This place has the potential to be so much more. <br/><br/>THE FOOD <br/><br/>Eggs Benedict (2/5) - I might be biased with eggs bene but for this one the dish just lacked that extra bit of flavour. The presentation was flawless but the taste just didn't have life. I was interested in the substitute of potatoe instead bagel, noticed a fee places doing that these days. <br/><br/>The Fries (3/5) - So the fries were well cooked, presentation good too. What failed here was the sauce.<br/><br/>Mince on toast (2/5) - Again the presentation was on point for this one but also lacked flavour to. It tasted like mince in a cheap bland pasta sauce. Even soy sauve would have given it a bit more life. <br/><br/>Drinks (3/5) - I got a soda, cant remember which one, it was average, same with the coffee. <br/><br/>THE SERVICE (4/5)<br/>The stadd were pretty attentive and courteous. <br/><br/>THE ENVIRONMENT (4/5)<br/>Love the decor here, somewhat trendy. The placement of items in the cafe have a good synergy to it. The bean bags outdoors is a bonus. <br/>
Rossa Jeong
I love the decor of the cafe. The food was good and the drinks were yummy. Except for the potato bottom of the egg benedict. Good cafe for brunch.

I've always seen photos of Geeks around but never knew where it was. <br/>Was taken here by surprise by a friend, and I was very impressed by the decor and ambience of the café!<br/>The service was really friendly, all-smiles greetings can be expected! Felt very genuine as opposed to some other cafes. <br/>We ordered the Banana and Granola Waffle and Pork Salad with Blue Smoothie and Iced Mocha;<br/>The waffles were a big portion, and for someone who usually can conjure another stomach for desserts, this certainly gave me a satisfied full stomach. The waffles were crispy outside and fluffy inside, and was served with two generous scoops of ice cream, chopped bananas and diced granola+nuts toppings--presentation was also 10/10! <br/>The Pork Salad took me by surprise, i did not expect the punch of vibrant flavours with one mouthful of the pork, which is a giant meatball wrapped with pumpkin seeds. There's some kind of sauce on it which really gives it a kick, and the roast vegetables were also flavoursome and light. Presentation also 10/10, can't fault it! <br/>The Blue smoothie was also really refreshing, not too sweet and freshly blended, perfect to wash down the sweet nuttiness of the waffles! <br/>Will definitely be keen to come back!

Average coffee and food... It was looking nice but lack of flavors... Me and my friend tried egg bene and chix salad. Bene was okay, but chix was too small portion and the flavor wasnt enough seasoing so on. maybe i expected too much about this place. <br/> Anyway service is good as usual.

Chic little cafe! Had the most delicious salmon and egg meal (forgot the name). Banana waffles were awesome as well. Excellent customer service, and outdoor seating option. Did struggle to find parking but the food and service made up for it.

Had my first visit today and couldn't fault any of the food that we ordered. We had the shoestring fries, eggs benedict and banana granola waffles which were all really good. They might sound like typical cafe food which you can get from anywhere but there's just something different in their food quality which puts Geeks on Sainsbury a cut above the rest. Their muffins looked good too, especially the strawberry white chocolate muffins which were all snapped up in the time that we were there (we were sitting nearest to the counter).<br/><br/>There's a balance of outdoor and indoor tables at this cafe. The interior decoration is cute, cheery and clean. You don't feel a lack of personal space and staff are very nice. We were greeted by the guy at the counter even though he clearly wasn't in charge of seating arrangements. Service is quite quick though they did forget about our fries and we had it as dessert instead.<br/><br/>Parking space is aplenty. You can either park offstreet, at the basement carpark or even at Westfield St Lukes which is close by.

Super pumped to have such a good cafe in the Neighbourhood. Geeks are consistently good. Their bene sets a standard and their mushrooms are tip top, look through the photos as their food presentation is excellent!  I like that they serve Red Rabbit coffee which is unique in an Auckland context.  They also have a great piece of grass outside and a playground across the road for my kids when it is sunny.

Cute little eatery. The salmon and eggs Benedict stack w/ avocado was delish! Our order was lost however and took an hour and half to come out so management could be bettered.

I didn't know this place was in my hood lol. Well kept secret. The breakfast menu is really good (my wife really enjoyed her breakfast). The coffee was a bit strong for me but overall I love the inside deco, service is really good and meals are prepared in a timely manner. Need to go back again.

Pan fried Tofu was delicious and it came in two sizes :) I've always found that cafe portion sizes were always to much for me but their petite sizes were perfect.

This cafe offers excellent service & food. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection & the mince on toast was delicious. The yellow smoothie was perfect for that refreshing morning hit! Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed a midweek lunch here recently. So refreshing on a hot summers day to sit outside near a large area of grass and trees. It was a late lunch so unfortunately most of the cabinet food was gone, but there were a few delicious looking slices still available. <br/>The Chicken salad with Quinoa was so tasty - wonderful flavours. However, the size of the chicken thigh was disappointing. It was so small and thin - taste was superb but could have done with a more generous portion. <br/>Coffee was a bit average. <br/>Overall, this place is worth a visit.

Great cafe. Went with a group of friends last weekend. I ordered the chicken and quinoa salad, and my friends ordered the eggs bene. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. The service was also excellent. Will be visiting again! :)

I ordered the banana waffles & the kids waffle for my 3 year old. I recommend this place to others would love to try the salads next time. I also ordered a large latte as well tasted so good I just wish the cups were bigger lol

Geeks on Sainsbury is tucked away near Westfield St Luke's and I visited this cute cafe on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. We were seated outside promptly and the atmosphere was very 'hipster'. The menu was simple yet offered choices from bagels, eggs benny, waffles and an assortment of lunch options. Everything is reasonably priced and I can't wait to go back and try everything else. <br/><br/>On this occasion, we ordered the banana waffles and mince on toast. I didn't try the mince on toast, but the presentation is 10/10. My banana waffles were absolutely delish! It was topped with almonds, peanut butter, granola and a drizzle of choc syrup. I enjoyed the dish very much.

Awesome cafe tucked away in a wee corner at St Luke's. Great staff and service. Their eggs benedict is insanely good. We've been here multiple times and never been let down.

A cute little place. Gives a clean and fresh feeling. Great service and good food. Reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again for their waffles.

The little café space on the corner of Sainsbury Road and Morningside Drive has changed hands intermittently in the last few years and this one looks like it's here to stay. Geeks On Sainsbury has delighted Sandringham residents with wonderfully aromatic coffee (hollah Red Rabbit), a chic, classy atmosphere, stylish hipster vibes with edible flowers to boot. If the name doesn't already give it away, the décor gives a humble nod to geek-chic with metal-piped chairs, a feature chalkboard detailing coffee extraction and light-boxes labelled “coffee geeks” and “kitchen geeks” - we need one of those light thingies in our office stat. We weren't sure if it was the terrariums or the white tiling, but as we stepped in the door, we were reminded of Dr Jervois... and right we were. The same genius minds behind the Ponsonby café and Little King in Milford are behind this new offering. When it comes to the food, we were delighted with the little details: warmed bowls, finely-sliced agria stacks and creamy caramel icecream with chunky granola waffles. Get there early and you might just nab the last table. Long live the geeks.<br/><br/>Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/geeks-on-sainsbury-july-2015

Nice sunny location.<br/>Pleasant service though we struggled to understand our first server who I guess was Chinese (this is not racist)<br/><br/>Got the Regular sized ($19) Bacon eggs benedict - the bacon and eggs were overcooked.  <br/>Smallish portion size, wonder how petite the Petite ($11) is.<br/><br/>4.5 on Zomato should equal Amazing, this cafe does not deserve that status.
Sarah
I ordered the eggs benedict and the presentation and quality of the food was spot on. One thing however was the hollandaise sauce was not as creamy or rich as I would have liked it but more towards the tangy side. But other than that, it was delicious!
Stephy_NakiGirl
Delicious brunch at Geeks on Sainsbury. Food is fresh & well presented. <br/>There is indoor & outdoor seating, but you can't book so plan your visit on busy days.<br/>Service was good/efficient.<br/>We ordered the eggs with a side of Avo & salmon, eggs bene with bacon & eggs bene small with bacon & a side of mushrooms & Avo. The eggs bene comes on a layered agria potato stack & has beetroot purée. Awesome presentation. <br/>Items in the cabinet sell quickly - we tried the blueberry muffin which was yum.<br/>If you haven't already make sure you visit.

I had to check this place out as I saw a great review. I went pretty early at 8.30am and there were plenty of seats. There were lots of magazines and newspapers to read which i really liked. Service was friendly not too over the top. I ordered eggs bendict and waffles with icecream. Eggs benedict looked absolutely beautiful and tasty. I was little bit disappointed with the waffles as it was not very light and fluff but quite dense. But it wasn't too bad. Overall I really enjoyed having breakfast there it was cool little spot with nice nature decore.

The best egg Benedict in the Auckland! If they locate near by me as city, I'm happy to spend all my saving everyday. The dish looks like small but I would like to say do not under estimate it. Definitely you will find yourself too full. Also suggest you to try waffle as well, your lady will love it!

Who would have thought "Morningside till I die" could produce good food being the dirty old hood it is! Geeks is a great place that again has Asian owners who are amazing with the attention to detail and flavour in the their meals.<br/><br/>Highly recommend this little place!
Neyotalks
I would give them 4/5 on their service but they lack dramatically on the food quality. Having said that, I would give them a full 5/5 on the presentation of food but the taste was little too mild and off for my liking. I ordered the egg benedict and I didn't enjoy it a bit. My friend ordered a waffle and found a piece of hair in her meal. Her meal was replaced free of cost though.  Would I go there again? - Maybe if I'm in the region and too tired to drive or walk to any other place.
Gillian Boddy
Food was ok, but we came here for brunch on a busy Sunday & the service was shocking! We waited over 20 mins for coffee and over an hour for our food with no apologies. It's a shame because the place has a good atmosphere.
Nicky
Nice cafe, good coffee. I had the waffles and my husband had the Salmon eggs Benedict. Really liked the location looking out onto a small park, would be good in the summer.

Went to this cafe when i was in the neighbourhood and the high rating on Zomato brought me there. A bit disappointed and think it is over-rated in my opinion. Everything is ok and slightly above average though, but then there are many other similar places that are rated a lot lower. Overall it was an ok experience.
XinLin Ni
I was so disappointed about this cafe, especially the customer service. The waitress was in bad attitude and the food is so so. I don't know why the rare is 4.4. I don't think it worth that. The mushroom was so creamy. And we ordered two types of Eggs Benedict, but the potato was burned and tasted bitter. The cafe was very slow as we wait a hour to have the meal until everyone gone. I will never ever go to there again.
Ayaan
Wow this place is so good, the food everything from look to taste was perfect, our waiter was on point too tops service, dont no why we never come here sooner now we no about it we definitely will be back AAA++++ thanks guys 🙏

I love this place!! Top notch mushrooms and bacon. <br/>Kids loved the waffles and fluffies. Great coffee, trendy decor. A real treat to visit. Surely this is 140 characters.

Was very tasty and decent sized meals, would definitely go there again :) We had the Waffles and BLT bagel (so much bacon, was amazing). Mmm

Brunch with Le husband today. Lovely little cafe classroom like setting from old school wooden chairs and tables to a blackboard inside. Suits the name "geeks on sainsbury" was greeted by a very friendly waiter and was given a choice of sparkling or still water. Great start..Latte good, green smoothie yummy yummy. Fries a bit dry, homemade aioli delish, mushrooms nice, salmon Benny delish...would return next time we are in the area.

Have been here many times.  Have enjoyed it so consistently thought it was about time I wrote a review.  The food from the kitchen is outstanding.  Make sure you get there before the kitchen shuts each day.  The cabinet food is great but it is the food the chefs produce that is what makes this place outstanding.  The staff are always polite with just the right amount of attentiveness.  The final tick that gives this cafe the 5/5 rating is the value for money.   Highly recommend.
KT
Good lil spot with tables outside in the sun overlooking a small, tree filled park. Coffee, service and the food was awesome. We shared the salmon, avo bagel and it was amazing. We'll definitely be back!

We went for a brunch on a Saturday morning. We ordered a flat white and a hot choco with a Pukeno Bacon and a Salmon Eggs Benedict. The dishes were delicious and the coffee very good as well. <br/>One bad thing: we got our drinks and the dishes came 20 min later... The menu warns you about that, but you would think that they would consider that so your drinks does not get cold by the time you get the food.
Myna Muse
Great food, a wee bit small on the portion sizing on some items but overall great! Good coffee, friendly staff, and their eggs bennny is to DIE for!
AL
Was really looking forward to trying out Geeks after reading rave reviews, but was quite disappointed good food that was incredibly slow to arrive, so much so that we had to eat and dash almost immediately within the 2 hr time frame we had allowed for brunch as we had a young 4 month old Bub with us. <br/><br/>Atmosphere was not great, nice decor which was trendy, but it was incredibly jam packed that day and everything felt too much like more of a 'trendy' thing than a good quality cafe with good service, the waiter was ok and pleasant but seemed incredibly nonplussed about when a table might come free and gave us no indication when we might get a table if we were to wait, and kind of just wandered off after talking to us without really giving us any answers after waiting 30minutes we were about to give up and leave (as we didn't know what was happening) when finally a table came free. <br/><br/>We had requested a table for 6 including a high chair seat for toddler child and a space for one baby in a pram,we led to a table with 4 seats next to the toilet, the same waiter seemed surprised when we said there was no room for a high chair n pram, we were then instructed we were not to block to path to the toilet, I mean how?? <br/><br/>Somehow we managed to squeeze in somewhat overlapping the toilet doorway and ordered our food. This then took more than 45+ minutes to arrive, food was pretty decent but the complete squash of people kind of brought down the experience. Coffee was good too but the mocha we ordered didn't come with any of the expected choc fish / marshmallows which was disappointing. My friend did rave on positively about her ice chocolate however.<br/><br/>It was so packed that day they even squeezed a guy behind us at the end of the bench seat table where there was no room at all and sat him back to back with our babies pram, where he kept elbowing and jostling the pram accidentally eventually waking up our poor bub crying.<br/><br/>An nice cafe with pretty decent food but I wouldn't return here, we just felt like packed sardines unfortunately. I don't know why they would call this kid friendly as there is barely any room in the cafe at all and not pram / mum bub friendly at all, just because you have a kids menu does not exactly mean you're kid friendly?

This cafe is quite unexpected for this area - with good coffee and clean shabby chic decor which is quite in right now. I've visited on a week day when they are not at all busy and on a Saturday when the place was buzzing with the brunch crowd. On both occasions we we had to wait a significantly long time for the serving staff to take our orders. I could understand this on the Saturday but not when they are almost empty. The wait staff also seemed to have trouble matching up the orders with the patrons on the Saturday. <br/><br/>The coffee was good, couldn't fault it. We tried the salmon eggs benedict and the preserved fruit waffles. The eggs benny comes on a stack of layered potatoes instead of bread/English muffin - didn't quite soak up the runny goodness of the 2 perfectly poached eggs though. The waffles here seem to be quite popular and I can understand why. 2 squares of deep waffles with just the right amount of crunch and the preserved fruit is just the right amount of sweet and tart. Both beautifully presented though the portion sizes were small for the price.

We went in and it was quite busy, we were seated within a few minutes and orders taken about 15 minutes later. We were advised it would be a 30 minute kitchen wait as it was so busy.<br/><br/>The food around us looked so good we decided to put our hunger on hold and wait. Plus this place has good reviews.<br/><br/>We ordered two salmon eggs Benedict's and WHOLEY s*** the 30 minute wait was so worth it!!! <br/><br/>It came serviced with perfectly poached eggs on a bed of salmon, spinach and a layered hash stack. <br/><br/>I have never had potato cooked so perfectly. It was golden crispy and cooked so well! The eggs had the yolk oozing out which I love! And the hollandaise sauce wasn't to thick it was light and creamy. <br/><br/>Overall a really good experience and you can see why they're so busy. I can't wait to try the waffles next!!!!
Chelsea
One of my absolute favourites. Quality Wellington coffee, great menu food, fantastic service. Cabinet food is a bit hit and miss. Sparkling water is always on tap and I've never had trouble finding a seat despite it being really busy. Quick service and great location with a nice park out the front and St Lukes shopping mall only a short walk away. Will continue to return frequently - don't change a thing!
Melissa
Yum yum yum! Been here 3 times so far - their eggs bene is to die for! Love how you can pick a petite size which I find is the perfect amount (unless I'm super hungry). The best part is that it comes on potato instead of bread - I never like eggs bene on bread 😁 It's flavoursome and not oily which is huge bonus.<br/><br/>Their coffee (flat white) is really good too. I have yet to try something new on the menu but I 10/10 would recommend the eggs benedict!
Pamela Chia
Absolute gem of a place , definitely recommend to anyone. It's located a convenient distance away from the any city centres and has plenty of parking. Serve is impeccable and decor is fun and fresh with plenty of seating in and out. My friend and I had different versions of Eggs Benedict and both were beautifully presented, with generous portions and were delicious! <br/>Really like the different options in sizes and hence prices as well. A beautiful place worth 6/5 stars!

I had the pleasure of dining here on a sunny Monday morning with my family, we had the Aoraki Smoked Salmon & Avocado Benedict, the Salmon Bagel and the BLT. All four dishes tasted amazing and looked even better. The service was good and the staff were just the right amount of attentive. On the way out we grabbed a few treats for the drive home from the sweets cupboard, it was hard to resist. I will be back to try a few more things for sure, recommend to all.

Been here a few times now, love their take on Eggs Benny on layered agria potatoes (I usually can't eat the bread that comes with the standard eggs benny). Have had their green smoothie so yummy! Will definitely come back to try their other smoothies. Decor is great, staff are friendly, another place I never knew existed until just recently 😊

A great new place - really good food. varied, interesting flavours (a menu different from the usual cafe stuff we've all seen before) lovely service.  Warmly recommended and well worth a visit
Marley
A very unexpected location for this popular cafe. We enjoyed the smoothies which were generous and reasonably priced, unlike many Auckland cafes. Although the menu was not overly exciting the food was of a high standard and well presented. Overall a good option for brunch with attentive service.

LOVE this place. Beautiful food. We had family brunch here and everyone agreed the food was amazing. Staff was friendly and dressed immaculately. Perfect service. One of my family members is Vegan in which they really enjoyed their meal. Keep doing what your doing.

Holy smokes - that breakfast of poached eggs with Bacon was stunning. Beautifully presented and real good combination of flavors. Highly recommended.

Tucked around the corner, is Geeks on Sainsbury. Initially we weren't quite sure whether were came to the right place, as the lollipop signage, that was located on above the cafe, dominated theirs. <br/>loved the vibe of the cafe as soon as we walked in. Felt casual and relaxing with welcoming staff. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Salmon Bagel and Iced Mocha. Food service was quick. Presentation of food was 5/5 for me. The egg benny was quite different from what i would normally get at a typical cafe. This one had betroot puree on the side (absolute delish), along with the eggs being stacked on slices of Agria Potatoes. It was very flavour-some! The salmon bagel was a little bit of a let down for me. Again, presentation was spot on. Felt like it lacked of cream cheese and salmon, considering how expensive it was. Overall, despite the awesome vibe + staff of the cafe, this cafe was abit too expensive for my liking.
Athena
Came in here on sunday morning, were seated quickly despite the place being busy. Ordered two trim lattes and a salmon bagel as well as a kale/mushroom/pesto bagel. We went up and ordered at the counter as ee were hungry and no one took our order. Coffee arrived quickly and was delicious. Not long after the food arrived and we devoured it. Everything on the plate married well together and was fresh. Only downside is that the water was served to us in cups that smelt of eggs (they werent washed properly i guess). Would definitely be back for more yummy food and coffee though!

I've come to eat breakfast here a couple of times now and always leave full and satisfied. Customer service is great, always friendly and attentive and the food is definitely above average (with plating on point!). Love the ambience of the place too, but try to come early because it gets quite packed and it isn't too big.
Natasha
Came here on a sunny Monday morning for brunch and loved it. <br/>Staff were friendly, place is easy to find and food is delish.<br/>Had eggs Benedict with salmon and pokeno bacon. Loved that it was on a potato rosti instead of bread, made it so much better. Also had an iced choc and a blue smoothie. The iced choc was so chocolatey.<br/>Will defs be back to try other dishes.
Michael
Whether or not the menu at Geeks is for you will probably depend on just one thing - do you have a sweet tooth?<br/><br/>A lot of the choices have distinctive sweet notes...the pork and chicken salads in particular. <br/><br/>That said, there is plenty to choose from, with pretty good execution across the board. <br/><br/>Coffee is good and likewise the six barrel sodas (that sweet tooth again)
Bronwyn Koh
Came to give it a try after seeing all the gorgeous pics and I must say my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed both the presentation and satisfaction on the palette. We ordered the Bacon eggs Benedict and the Wasabi tuna on bagels. Both were delicious but I must say the clear winner is definitely the eggs bene! I will be visiting again and recommending friends and family. The only down side is how small the place is but we were lucky and got in just before the lunch time crowd. Good friendly service and the space has a very Melbourne cafe hip vibe.<br/>Also, for those bloggers and foodie Photo geeks out there - it's so insta-worthy! :-)
Samantha Lines
We came along on a Sunday to find the place was packed. There were 4 of us and the staff kindly set up another table for us. They have these old school tressle tables that can be popped up and down depending (great idea btw!) but they're not the most comfortable in the world. I ordered an Early Grey which was delicious and served me 3 cups which is quite a bit compared to others when serving tea. My boyfriend had the blue smoothie which he wasn't a big fan of.<br/>I ordered the Banana and Granola Waffles and my boyfriend ordered the Preserved Fruit Waffles. Both orders were delicious. I've never seen Michael inhale food like that before. The scoop of ice cream is a good size. I didn't run out of ice cream per bite and everything on the plate was delicious.<br/>We left quite quickly because it started to rain but otherwise I probably would have ordered something sweet and cake like from the cabinet. Maybe next time!<br/><br/>Food 10/10<br/>Service 9/10<br/>Comfortable Seating 4/10<br/>Chance of returning 80%
Nathalie
Came here for lunch, lots of free seats outside and service was pretty fast. Nice place to chill and quiet away from traffic..Overall food was good above average, serving size pretty small and pricey, but quality is good. Will probably be back as I would like to try their waffles!
Georgia Dobbs
came here for a Sunday morning brunch, we were a bit late getting there so they were understandably busy - and announced a 30 minute wait for food which we were OK with. we ordered a chai latte and hot chocolate which came out within 15/20 mins, a tofu eggs bene, scrambled eggs with mushroom and avo, and poached eggs with mushrooms. we were given water almost immediately after being seated but unfortunately it was very flat sparkling water, so we requested tap water. the meals came out probably 40-45 minutes after we ordered. the eggs bene were well presented and my friend who ordered seemed to enjoy them, my scrambled eggs were good with the side of avo and mushroom, only downside was I felt it was a small portion of scrambled eggs, my friends poached eggs were "really good actually". food and drinks wise, everything was enjoyable, service wise a few things were forgotten and we had to remind staff etc but overall there was a nice busy vibe and it was a tasty cafe that we would go back to!
Ridad
We wanted to go somewhere for brunch and decided on this place because of all the rave reviews. We got here at 11 and needed to wait for 30 minutes to be seated and then had to wait for another 15 minutes before our orders were taken. We ordered a salmon eggs benedict and wasabi salmon bagel and the granola waffles. The waffles were the best thing on the menu and I would go back just to have that again. However beware of the fact that they can get extremely busy.
Joanna Koat
Great coffee and pretty plates! I had the pork salad which was tasty and fresh. My friend had the kale tomato bagel which looked yum too. Keen to come back for the waffles!

Would 100000% recommend, I've been here twice now, a little out of the way but worth the trip. Coffee on point, friendly staff, amazing food and even a nice little window seat and outdoor seating for nicer days. We've ordered the Banana Granola Waffles, the Bap and the Tofu Eggs Benny, which was something I'd never had before. A little overly rich if anything??? But beautiful all the same.
Miss T
Ordered the kale and Pecan pesto - sautéed kale, smashed avocado, portobello mushroom, roasted tomato, pesto and cream cheese on a fresh bagel. Very tasty and good value for $15. The yellow smoothie ( banana, peach, pineapple) tasted fresh. Good vibe, nice interiors and pleasant service staff. Will visit again soon

Awesome place, good vibe. Staff are friendly and attentive to needs. Dog friendly place. Staff offer a bowl of water to your pets without asking. <br/><br/>Ordered a burger and fries and was happy with it. Well presented and taste was superb. Would definitely come back.

Went here for brunch last easter weekend and ordered the waffles with granola, the beef burger and iced chocolate. <br/><br/>Iced choco was on point. Just the perfect sweetness for my liking. <br/><br/>Waffles was chewy which I like and the granola made it more tasty. <br/><br/>Beef burger was average yet it was filling.

Love Geeks on Sainsbury for brunch after a night out. Their scrambled eggs on sourdough and avo are a god send with big buttery pieces of toast! Always easy to find a table and the staff are so lovely and friendly. Only minor down fall was the blueberry muffin that we ordered to take away from the cabinet (how can you not) was mistaken for a shimmery cupcake but we only discovered this after we were only gone. Would def recommend!

Had breakfast at this cafe on a weekend. The eggs benedict was a real surprise. The presentation was awesome; the blend of the eggs, pokeno bacon, kale and beetroot went well. It sat on a crispy yet stable potato blend that was unlike te usual bread that you would find at another cafe. I also bought a slice of lemon loaf and their weekend blueberry and cream cheese muffin. Both were a delight with really good balancing flavours. The service was excellent and the only thing that stopped it being a 5 was the fact that the seasoning could've been better on the eggs bene but they did have salt and pepper at the ready. Highly recommended for a good quality breakfast!.

Came here for lunch with two friends. I had the eggs benedict potato cake. I wasn't a huge fan of the potato cake - it was a little hard and I think eggs Benedict goes way better on bread. My friends both got mince on toast and rated it really highly. The coffee was great and the cupcakes we had to finish were great. Top service and sweet spot.

We had high expectations when visiting here due to really good reviews / average rating on zomato. The attention to detail is great - not only with there food but also the decor. The look and feel of the cafe is is very on trend and a nice place to just chill and catch up with friends. <br/><br/>I planned to order the Pesto and pecan bagel but unfortunately was sold out when we arrived. We ordered the Pan fried tofu eggs Benedict and the Banana and granola waffles with a trim latte. The food came out really quickly and both meals were beautifully presented. <br/>The waffles I had were delicious! A lot of different flavours and textures that worked well together, however did find it all a bit too much - really sweet, just one waffle with the toppings (rather than two) would have been perfect. The eggs Benedict was a nice vegetarian option and was really filling. My partners coffee was a little under whelming but was still ok.<br/><br/>Service here is very good, the staff are young and really friendly. Would return again as I feel this place does have more to offer!
Mitch Lawson
My first time here and was recommended the Tuna, wasabi & jalapeño bagel. Spice lovers won't be disappointed and paired with cold drip coffee, great working lunch. Have bookmarked this place for future visits.

Amazing food , good how they have petite option and a large option for some of the meals on the menu. <br/>Presentation was great & so was the atmosphere.<br/>The staff were lovely <br/>Wait time not so great got told after we had ordered the wait time was 45min, would come back on a week day on a day off work maybe so the wait time wasn't as long. Apart from that everything was amazing 😊
Genie @ BunnyEatsDesign
We visited Geeks on a Saturday morning. Found a seat easily enough but the wait for both coffee and food was substantial. Love the decor and if it’s sunny, there is heaps of seating outside.<br/><br/>Food menu is interesting and they offer regular and petite portions. Great for those who want something that’s not granola but don’t want to commit to a full breakfast. <br/><br/>Coffee Red Rabbit coffee was great and my yellow smoothie delightful. <br/><br/>Food was good and reasonably priced for the quality and presentation, but the wait time was a bit too much for us. Not sure if they had staffing issues that day or it’s the norm. Would come back on a less busy day.

Stopped in here for breakfast... The service was friendly... We had the gronola and poached eggs on ciabatta with avacado and bacon... Had to have the Pokeno bacon! Nice appealing menu with good quality food... Presentation looked delicious and it was... Will be back!

This is our default go to when we are meeting friends & want to guarantee good food & service.<br/>Food is great - try the Best Ugly Bagel with pulled ham hock or the eggs bene on a hash brown YUM. Beautiful presentation & some dishes available in half sizes which is just the thing when you've over indulged & want to be virtuous!<br/>Lunch menu also great. Fantastic coffee put together with great care by award winning barista.<br/><br/>Update: Added outside seating by a grass area is fantastic if you want to take the pooch with you. It's closed in when Auckland's fickle weather turns bad.<br/>Food still great - the half size eggs Bennie with bacon on a hash brown is one of the best. Also try the best ugly bagels with either ham hock or salmon & avo. Great service with great coffee.

Presentation is everything here! Too little too much perhaps… <br/><br/>Visited on a rainy rainy day and place was completely empty - I opted for the sunflower crusted pork salad and my friend had the beef burger w fries. I have to say when dishes arrived, I was absolutely stunned at how pretty my dish was - literally wouldn’t use another word to describe it. A couple of edible flowers here and there, colourful and stacked perfectly. <br/><br/>Taste wise, very underwhelming - I liked the sunflower crust on the pork but it was way too dry for my liking. There was a strong undertone of sweetness throughout the dish that wasn’t pleasant - could be the overly sweet chutney + apple + sweet potato mix. The beef burger wasn’t any better… Dry patty and the same chutney overpowering the burger with sweetness. The fries were probably the best part of the beef burger dish but what is fries with bad aioli? The ‘aioli’ tasted more like mayo infused with honey….. it was sweet too. <br/><br/>Points for ambiance and decor though!! <br/><br/>Didn’t try the coffee as I’m trying to break my coffee addiction.. So based on my experience, I probably won’t be back.

This place is amazing. <br/><br/>Perfect coffee everytime. <br/><br/>Amazing food. <br/><br/>Great staff. <br/>

Came here a few weeks back as it was a highly rated local cafe. The service and atmosphere is very ponsonby / Kingsland spec. They even catered to me modifying a dish slightly, presentation is amazing. But the food and coffee is nothing to complain about / nothing to rave about. Cool place to hang on a Sunday arvo.

Ate at Geeks on Sainsbury this afternoon (Sunday). The place was busy but we still managed to get a table for two<br/><br/>I ordered the BLT bagel and an iced chocolate, my friend got the banana and granola waffle and peppermint tea. There was a little bit of a wait for the food but understandable as they were quite busy. Drinks came out first and my iced chocolate was refreshing and as chocolatey as it should be. The food came out and my BLT bagels were super filling. The bacon was different to what other places serve, it was more like pulled pork rather than streaky bacon; still yum! My friends waffles were really nice with the crunchy granola on top of it 👍🏼

Two for lunch. Ordered Mince on toast and Chicken quinoa salad. <br/>Service was great & the food looked fantastic. Unfortunately both dishes were way too sweet for us. The mince tasted like a dessert. Perhaps the chef that day had a real sweet tooth, or didn't taste while cooking. Disappointing.

Great little place on a rainy summers day. Coffee was lovely even my single shot flat white (joys of being 35weeks pregnant)<br/>We ordered from their small yet delicious menu three eggs Bennie (one with hard eggs) and two sides of avo- the food was beautiful, fresh, tasty but the fact they bought out two plates serving the third to someone who ordered after us making us wait was a bit weird... We also waited way too long for one piece of toast.<br/>Would go again to try another good looking menu item and a yum coffee.<br/>

Really enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine and eating my delicious eggs benedict on hash with a green smoothie. Service friendly and prompt. A great addition to the area, we will return.

Likely the best cafe in Mt Albert. Inviting decor with a great indoor, outdoor flow. Lovely cabinet food, along with a very enticing menu. <br/>The service was exceptional! We were seated with menus and water on arrival and our orders were taken shortly after. Within 10 minutes our drinks and food were served. <br/>The iced chocolate was deliciously sweet but could have been slightly thicker if I was to critique it at all. We ordered the waffles with banana, peanut butter, granola and ice cream. They was VERY sweet but I loved the combination of different textures, in particular the granola and waffle pairing. <br/>Great spot for brunch in the sun on a fine day!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: loved the fresh funky decor and jazz tunes playing in the background. Inside it does feel a tad compact, but great that there are lots of outdoor seating in the front too. <br/><br/>FOOD: I kept it simple and had scrambled eggs on a bagel. The eggs were creamy and delicious - loved the colourful garnish on top too. The bagel was of the 'Best Ugly Bagel' kind. It was over-toasted but tasted great in any case. <br/><br/>COFFEE: tasted a little burnt, but nice and strong. <br/><br/>SERVICE: friendly and quick to serve.<br/><br/>I love the name of this cafe but it seemed to rock more chic than geek! Look forward to coming back and trying the other dishes.

Had such a fantastic experience. Good mixed flavours, beautiful presentation and lovely service. I had the banana granola waffle which was absolutely yummy, the almonds gave it a crispy crunch and it wasn't to sweet, my partner loved his and eggs bene which was of a great standard . Everything from the drinks to the food was yum and of good quality. I'll be back again and again !

Great find from Zomato. Close to Westfield St Lukes I would have never known this was here. Modern space. Cool decor. Lovely friendly service. And best if all amazing tasting brunch. We tried mushrooms on toast, tofu dish, iced chocolate, 2 smoothies, coffee. Everything tasted great and beautifully presented. Would have given it 5 stars but coffee was just ok. I would not hesitate to come back.

Great place to go for some fuel post the epic World Cup final. Great service and loved the outdoor seating area. Food was good and hit the spot. No complaints from our happy crew. A yummy brunch and a World Cup, what more could you want in life!

I don't give 5/5 to just anyone. Found this place by looking for cafes in semi-central Auckland with high ratings and these guys definitely deserve a 5.<br/>I had the waffles with maple peanut butter, vanilla icecream and banana with granola- hands down best waffles I've ever had.<br/>I didn't try the coffee but based on how amazing the menu is I'm sure it would be good.<br/>My mum got the beef burger with fries and that was also amazing- with homemade chutney and caramelised onion it was just packed with flavour.<br/>It was so hard to choose from the menu because all of the flavour combos sounded amazing- I think you could order anything and you'd still be making the right choice.<br/>The cafe was really nicely decorated and there was heaps of natural light which made it a perfect food-enjoying environment!<br/>I highly highly recommend this place and I'll be coming back with my friends and family very soon! 💗💗

Woah! This place is the definition of a 'hidden gem' 👑 It's a pity I am not a resident in the area because I know I'd be here every morning if I could be! The decor is cute, quirky and clean - a minimalists dream really. The staff are very friendly and happy to help with any queries or requests. Their menu is a decent size for a cafe and the pricing is pretty standard for a 'cute cafe'. No complaints about the food, I had the waffles with preserved fruit and oh my my my 😍 The best waffles (and add ons) I've ever had in my life!! The coffee was hella strong but so damn good too. Only negative about this place is the wait time for food and how the meals do not come at 'even' times.

Today me and two of my friends visited Geeks On Sainsbury. We were seated quickly and the decor was creative and gave off a vintage shabby/chic feel which I did appreciate. The water tasted funny, possibly just to many flavors happening. I ordered the Banana and granola waffles, which came with maple syrup, peanut butter and nuts on top. My meal was delicious but my friends who the pork with roast vegetables and the eggs benadict and neither of them overly happy. the pork dish only getting half eaten and the bacon on the eggs beni not being touched since it was all fat. We ordered our drinks to come with our meals, our orders came and we were assured our drinks would be 2 minutes. 10 minutes passed and then our meals were finished. Our 2 coffees still werent ready but the smoothie had arrived, with toppings not mentioned in the menu which my friend was allregic to. After waiting another 5 minutes for our coffee and paying we finally received our drinks which keeping in mind it not being at all busy was quite shocking. Fair to say we were all rather unimpressed and will not be returning here.

A nice fit out with cool features (love the 'geek' signs!) but service and food need a bit more work. I had the wasabi tuna bagel which was actually really good - although agree with another reviewer that bagel should be toasted. My friend had the pumpkin soup which she didn't finish as it was far too sweet. <br/><br/>The menu seemed a bit brief and nothing jumped out as being overly exciting, and I would like to see some more counter food like sandwiches and wraps for more options.

Came here this morning for breakfast with a couple of friends and we were quite dissapointed! We were seated fast as it was early and it was extremley quiet and ordered our food. The plates came out and the presentation was definitely very appealing! One of my friends ordered the banana and granola waffles with peanut butter maple syrup and icecream which she enjoyed. My other friend ordered the eggs benedict with bacon and was quite dissapointed that instead of a nice piece of bacon, she received a strip of fat instead! I ordered the pork and roast vegetable salad. The pork was more of a chunk of minced pork, that was crusted with different types of nuts which I didn't quite understand because the textures didn't work together, neither did the flavours. The pork itself had no flavour and was extremley mushy and sludgy rather than actually minced and I couldn't eat it. My friends tried it and agreed it wasn't very pleasant. It was advertised on the menu that it would come with a roast vegetable salad - which wasn't true and it came with 5 bits of roasted kumara on top of a small pile of rocket, and 3-4 bits of horseradish. I was under the impression that there would be a small variety of roasted vegetables. We ordered drinks when we ordered our food and asked the waiter if the drinks could come out with the meal, which didn't happen. We were assured that the drinks would be at our table in about 2 minutes after the waiter had brought us over our meals so we ate, and after 20 minutes we had all finished and still no drinks. There was only one other table - 2 people, in the cafe aswell so we weren't sure what the hold up was. Finally my green smoothie arrived which didn't taste anything like what the menu said it had in it, and it had coconut water through it and coconut covering the top which again, wasn't mentioned on the menu and I can't stand coconut! The other 2 coffees hadn't arrived so we decided to get up, pay and leave. The waiter told us that the coffees were being made right then which still took a while! The waiter was lovely though and apologised and I wasn't charged for the green smoothie I had, but overall didn't enjoy the food and we won't be returning.

Was heading to the briscoes outlet and decide to have lunch nearby. This place is small and cosy. Although there's really limited seatings, we still got a seat within 5 minutes. My boyfriend tried the tuna bagel and i had the mince on toast. <br/>Overall its good. Boyfriend really enjoyed the tuna bagel and was impressed that the combination of wasabi mayonnaise and pickles. We recommend if the bagel is a little toasted, it will be even better. <br/>The mince on toast was alright. It was too sweet for my liking. I have a savory palette but this mince on toast was really sweet to me. My boyfriend didnt mind the sweet taste of mince of toast so i guess it really personal preference. <br/><br/>I would recommend my friends to try this place maybe not during the peak hours.

Had been wanting to come here for so long and finally got the chance while up in Auckland. I was not disappointed. I am a big fan of waffles so immediately went to order one of the two waffle options, and being an ice cream fan, went for the banana and salted caramel ones. They were honestly some of the nicest waffles I've ever had, I loved the combination of flavours - chocolate, salted caramel, peanut butter with vanilla ice cream and granola. The granola added a nice crunch to the dish. <br/><br/>The service was great, we had our water jug filled without asking and were notified upon ordering how long our food would take. The set up and decor of the place is lovely too, really fresh and clean. I would love to return and try the quinoa salad!

What a pleasant surprise this cafe was, tucked away in the corner of an industrial/take-away spotted/suburban road. <br/><br/>Small, yet chic and comfortable. Service staff were very friendly and efficient, quoting a wait time of 20 minutes, but only waiting 5. <br/><br/>Food was delicious and beautifully presented! I ordered one of the two signature waffles- drizzled with granola, maple peanut syrup, and caramel. I was warned it would be sweet, and it didn't disappoint- but not so sweet that it was diabetic-inducing. Friends ordered and enjoyed the steak sandwich and eggs (with a multitude of sides, which they were happy to accommodate). <br/><br/>Overall, a hidden gem of a cafe, hitting all the main cafe taste and decor points. The waffles are a must try!

Busy little cafe in Morningside, but the wait for food was long. Had high hopes after reading rave reviews but wasn't overly impressed myself... Coffee was a little burnt and somehow the potato stack was undercooked and a tad oily (even somehow had a fish taste but as I don't eat fish I'm overly sensitive)<br/><br/>Between the 4 of we each ordered 3 different eggs bene -bacon for me, salmon and vege tofu for my friends, as well as the kale pesto bagel.<br/><br/>Amazing presentation but won't be rushing back myself... Though my friends enjoyed it. Perhaps a place to come for the waffles if you have a sweet tooth!<br/>

Came on a sunny Tuesday afternoon for brunch and it wasn't busy at all. The food was really well presented and tasted great too! I had a simple scrambled eggs on toast (the eggs were perfect!!) and my partner had the salmon eggs benny whichhe said was delicious too! Ordered an ice chocolate and green smoothie which was amazing as well. Love the interior decor, would definitely come back again.
Max Clark
Seated straight away. <br/>They were relatively busy, but waited over 20 minutes for our order to be taken.. <br/>He didn't write it down so had to come back 5 minutes later and ask again.. No biggy, he was very apologetic, and proactive. <br/>The food was presented beautifully but tasted well below average.. <br/>The menu lacked any kind of innovation, and so did the dishes. <br/>The wait service were all walking around like headless chickens, serving different tables, forgetting water (even after many tables had asked) etc etc<br/>Won't be rushing back. Just wasn't good.

Coffee was a mild roast. The muesli was nice but waffles were a hit. Lovely having the park outside, will be great is summer. Parking is very easy close by!!

My eyes feasted on my plate before I ate my meal. Trust me when I say it tasted even better than it looks. I've tried a few different waffles around and these I absolutely rate as top notch... I'll definitely be back👌 Banana, granola and ice cream 😊🍌🍦

BEST ICED CHOCOLATE OF MY LIFE.<br/><br/>All hyperbole aside, delicious food, decent portions, lovely decor. The food was actually quite excellent for the prices they charge, and they put unique spins on some flavorings. Would definitely recommend to you all!

Have eaten here twice now and both time have been delicious. The service is great and the food comes out promptly. They have super yummy ingredients on the menu such as, best ugly bagels, Pokeno bacon, and Aoraki salmon and to top it all off the coffee is great. This place will definitely become a regular of mine.

I love neighbourhood cafes; they bring a relaxed focal point to the community. In Morningside, a slowly gentrifying neighbourhood, Geeks on Sainsbury has brought the suburb a step up on the trendy scale. The commercial complex it is located in is drab and sleepy, and thoroughly in need of a boost. <br/><br/>The workspace is divided in Coffee Geeks and Kitchen Geeks. They serve up coffee from a boutique Wellington roaster, Red Rabbit Roastery, and check out the explanation of an espresso on the blackboard. I really like how Geeks have focused on the provenance of their ingredients. They serve Six Barrel Sodas, Aoraki salmon, Best Ugly bagels and Pokeno bacon.

If you like cafes with mediocre food and painstakingly slow and inattentive service, Geeks on Sainsbury is the perfect place for you.<br/><br/>We there on a Sunday afternoon, after reading rave reviews online. On arriving, it was not particularly busy, around 1/3 of the tables were available. Our drinks arrived quickly. However, our food wasn't served 30 minutes after ordering.<br/><br/>We approached the server, and were brusquely told that our food would be arriving “soon”, without any explanation or apology for the delay. <br/><br/>10 minutes later, I approached the same server, asking if we could just pay for our drinks and leave - as it seemed that our food was still nowhere in sight. However, she irritably insisted that our food would be arriving immediately. After another 10 minutes, our food finally arrived, along with an apology by another staff/ manager?

Pretty cool cafe; indoor and outdoor areas perfect for a sunny day brunch. Has a grassy area that gives off a picnic bench outing kind of feel.<br/><br/>Coffee is great here. Had an ice coffee which is nice and sweet with so much creme it was almost a dessert, and the latte was equally good.<br/><br/>For lunch we had the salmon eggs benedict and tuna wasabi bagels - both delicious and filling. Eggs bene was rich and savoury, and I have never had tuna wasabi combination with bagel before but definitely turned out great.<br/><br/>Pricing about 35-40$ for two for lunch<br/><br/>Overall a decent place to have a nice brunch out in the sun.<br/><br/>3.5 Yums

Geeks on Sainsbury offer an all day breakfast menu.<br/>Went into the cafe for brunch and ordered the banana and granola waffles, which was recommended to me by the waiter. The waffles were amazing! An easy 5/5 right from the first mouth full. Great mix of sweet and savoury throughout and was full by the end of it.<br/>Also ordered spicy chai lattes and six barrel sodas (we got the 2nd one for free) which were a nice, cheap compliment to the meal.<br/>Staff were friendly and loved the setup of the cafe.<br/>Meal came to $32 for the two of us so very affordable!<br/>Well deserved 5/5. Will be back!

Geeks is situated in an odd block of shops so make sure you've got your eyes peeled when you get close! The decor inside reminded me a lot of Dear Jervois. There are big front windows to let loads of light that added to the cool comfortable feel of the cafe. <br/><br/>It wasn't busy when my sister and I came for breakfast and we were able to grab a table right away. Literally everything on the menu looked good so it was a tough decision. I chose the smoked salmon eggs benedict and my sister got the pesto and kale bagel. I was disappointed at the note at the bottom of the menu saying no alterations could be made to the menu. Understandable as it's easier for the chef, but I do like having the option to swap things out. The food came out pretty quick and it did not disappoint! Definitely recommend either! <br/>Geeks also gets points for their service. Really quick and efficient without feeling rushed. <br/><br/>Awesome!

'You sure do like food' commented the observant waiter when we finally finalized our order between 2. I took it as a compliment from the self-proclaimed food/coffee geeks. Geeks on Sainsbury follows the wave of trendy cafes in odd spots, adorning exquisitely presented food, decent coffee and a slightly predictable menu with a twist and best ugly bagels. Offering 3 types of eggs Benedict, we couldn't decide so went with one each in the petite size ($10, while regular is $18). I liked the use of a layered agria potato as the base instead of a typical English muffin or hash while each had a memorable unique component; beetroot purée (bacon Benny), avocado purée (salmon Benny) and house made chutney (tofu Benny). My fav was the salmon gravlax while the tofu pick is fab for vegos; the bacon variant was yum too but conservative on the actual bacon serving while waffles were a swell sweet finish. Captivating interior but very reminds me of Dear Jervois...let's hope there's no such thing as cafe copyright.

Was in the vicinity with work and dieing for a flat white and some lunch, unfortunately being around 3pm the cabinet had only sweet treats available and I didn't have time (for a larger lunch off the menu), so just had a takeaway coffee which was Bang On! (Don't think I'd tried Red Rabbit before, but loved the flavour). If in the area again will definitely try the food - great friendly service, cool vibe interior.
Ben Payne
Been here a couple of times and love it! Haven't been disappointed with their food, full of so much delicious flavour! Love the Red Rabbit Coffee, though staff could possibly be a bit more knowledgeable when it comes to their Single Origin as they all seemed quite flustered when I asked for my filter coffee. But will be sure to go back again, and again!
Sheena
Everyone loves a good waffle. Geeks on Sainsbury is home to good coffee and beautifully presented breakfast plates. The cabinet had gorgeous little treats, but Stacey and I already knew what we wanted to order. The waffles.
Stacey Jane Rainbow
Working sundays is never fun but when your friend Sheena suggests to meet for breakfast before, it makes it abit better! Now,i never eat out for breakfast as never have time before work and usually have porridge before leaving the house so i wasnt sure what to expect! This place is unreal! Such a great spot literally 2mins from work aswell (which could be a bad thing haha) the decor is super cool and the staff were nice and friendly too! They had a selection of cakes on display which looked amazing! The place was real busy for 8.45am but we got a seat which was good! I instantly knew i wanted the banana waffles and sheena ordered the other option of the fruit ones! For $15 i wondered what the size would be like but in the end i was really full! Mine came with the waffles, banana, ice cream, granola and sauces! The ice cream was amazing and the whole dish was melt in the mouth goodness! The flavours all together were incredible! I tried sheenas fruit version and it was really nice but i preferred the waffles i had! I would 100% come back here and after showing my partner the photos he is eager to go too! Such a winner!

Having heard a lot about this place recently so was keen to check it. It was full inside so we sat outside which was fine in the sun. The coffee was good, they had a good range of sodas and the food was amazing! I will definitely be returning!

What's better than having colourful brunch to brighten up a gloomy day?! Finally an awesome cafe opens in St Lukes area!😆I'm so impressed with beautiful presentation of each dish and how tasty they are! Great service and price wise is reasonable. I'll definitely be back :)
Aj Maglaqui
Such a cute place! Lovely people with good service! I had a petite salmon eggs bene was so nicely presented and tasted amazing! The banana maple waffles were amazing! And the ice cream on it tasted so good! I will definitely come back ☺️

I visited for brunch last week having read about this cafe in an area screaming out for another good cafe.  <br/>I had a couple of flat whites which were spot on, hot, strong and smooth. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Pokeno Bacon. The delicious potato galette that everything is piled onto is brilliant. Eggs, hollandaise, bacon and kale with the beetroot is a fab combo. It looked a touch small on arrival, however at the end of the meal with my plate nearly licked clean, I realised it was the perfect serving. <br/>The menu is good, there is cabinet food and sweets also.<br/>This cafe is industrial cool, and quite cosy. Shared tables and smaller tables. The staff are friendly, the food and coffee don't disappoint. I highly recommend you drop by.. Looking forward to returning with friends.

Absolutely in love with this place! It's located in a bit of a random spot but definitely worth the drive. It was so hard to decide what to order off the menu because everything sounded so amazing. <br/><br/>I decided to get the Quinoa salad which was super yum and so filling! The dressing was so fresh and worked so well with the grains and the kumara, and the chicken was so tender! My only criticism is o wish the chicken was just the slightest bit hotter but other than that I can't complain.<br/><br/>My friend ordered the waffles which were pretty amazing (I stole a bite or two). She's usually more of a savoury person but she did really enjoy them! We both agreed that it was smart to have the maple syrup in a little bowl on the side, if they came out drizzled in the syrup it would've been way too sweet. <br/><br/>Would definitely return to try some more of the food! We went around 12 which was perfect because it wasn't too busy and we could easily get a table. <br/><br/>Definitely recommend!!

Came here for brunch this morning! Such a cute little hidden cafe, just around the conner from St Lukes!<br/>I had the granola ($11) and a soy flat white ($4.5), Coffee was AMAZING and so was the granola and really reasonably priced. My friend had the salmon bagel which also looked delicious. <br/>Cafe had a really nice atmosphere. Was pretty quiet when we arrived at 10 but started to get more lively after 11. Found this place on zomato and glad i gave it a try, overall really enjoyed my brunch!
Eduardo Dias
We have been on this place today morning for a breakfast. We had an Eggs Benedict, Eggs on toast with mushrooms and a yellow smoothie. The food was really good, services were great and the place has a quite nice atmosphere. However this place like many other Cafes is quite small and a bit noisy. So, people stumble to each other when they move around and you can hear other people conversation all the time. So, if you are a person like me who enjoy having a meal in a quite place and having peace of mind during your meal, this might not be the right place for you to stay. However, if you enjoy the vibe of been surround by other people and don't mind being interrupted by other people conversation sometimes, this is probably a great place for you. Again, really good service and good food, just the environment was not quite right to me.
I Love Food
This area lacks great cafes so really nice to see this place open here! Great decor and vibe. I had the pork salad. Really enjoyed my meal. All of the meals were beautifully presented! Staff also very nice. Thought the pricing was pretty good also with the most expensive main on the menu around $18. Cutlery was set wrong which slightly agitates me ha. Over all a great cafe!
Ella Chen
Had the tofu egg benny. Sounds weird but it taste amazing! :D <br/>Friend had the banana and granola waffle - and that was equally amazing. Perfect combo.<br/>Great coffee and the blue smoothie was sooo nice and smooth.<br/>Friendly staff :)<br/><br/>With a nice small park outside, it would be awesome in the summer. <br/>Definitely one of my fav local cafe.

Great Coffee - my connoisseur husband approved<br/>Good Service - very welcoming and attentive to kids (very few waitstaff ask before placing weapons in front of your toddler, this one did - we bring our own plastic cutlery - but thanks for checking first!), brought out plastic bowls for the kids to share a meal too, nice touch, and the fluffy got the seal of approval too.<br/>Food was excellent - presentation definitely of a higher standard than you would expect for a neighborhood local, tasted excellent and loved that you can get 'petite' sizes too. I had the preserved fruit waffles and struggled to get to taste them myself what with all the 'sharing' going on at the table.<br/>Will definitely go back and in a catch-22 now of wanting them to do well so they stick around but not wanting them to get to busy!
Pamela Palis
Came here on a Saturday morning. As expected it was packed but we got seated fast. There were plenty of food selection. We tried the Salmon Eggs Bene, waffles and salmon with bagels. They were all delicious and the food presentation was appealing and elegant but we had to wait more than half an hour for it come out of the kitchen. <br/>The food was certainly impressive though!
Chloe-Mae
What a gem... Found this place on zomato... And boy in glad Iv driven past it almost weekly and didn't even realise what I'd been missing out on! The menu was fresh simple and the food tastes amazing we will be back!!!! I love the fact the Bene came in petite size :-)
Heidi
Recently heard about this little gem near St Lukes and was keen to try it out. Drive past this cafe regularly however had never seen it!!! And certainly inpressed me!!! WOW . I had the pan-fried tofu eggs benedict while my brother had the pokeno bacon egg benedict. The presentation is certainly elegant. It is a very busy cafe on a Sunday morning!!!<br/>Onto the coffee.... hands down best coffee I have had in a while. Smooth and creamy. Had a latte while my brother had a cappuccino. Just $4 too :)<br/>We also had smoothies following our brunch. Very delicious however I would have liked it colder. <br/>The banana and granola waffles looked AMAZING .... I am definitely coming back for that dish.
Bizcochito
Great coffee and service; eggs benedict was extremely beautiful-looking and really tasty. Only reason I would not give a 5 is that I think it needs to be served with an English muffin or something so it is a little more filling. Other than that i think it is one of the best brunches in Auckland and is reasonably priced. Will definitely be back to try the waffles, they look amazing!

Checking Zomato for the nearby cafe and also craved for waffles yesterday. Found Geeks on Sainsbury and it is really a nice cafe for meet up and chill. Love their geeky interior design. They provide good service and friendly too. We ordered the Banana Granola waffles and fries. Really impressed with the presentation, food and most importantly cravings satisfied. Love the drinks too especially the coffee arts. Thank you, Geeks and Zomato :)
Frank
I was actually across the road at the park watching rugby and drove past this odd little set of shops twice looking for a coffee place before giving up and checking Zomato for a nearby coffee places :-)  The small wooden tables outside give away its location and inside it immediately impresses with a funky up to date fit out reminiscent of a Sandringhamised version of Dear Jervois...  Super friendly staff, lots of appetising cabinet food and great coffee what else do you need?

Geeks is my favourite cafe at the moment. They have great coffee, exceptional service and the food is delicious.<br/>The cafe's not in the best spot, but with a new playground opening across the road on the corner of Sainsbury and Morningside Drive I feel like summer is going to be crazy busy for the Geeks crew.<br/>The first time I came to Geeks, not long after they opened, I tried the pork salad. The decent portion of roast vegetables, not too much salad, apple, pork pattie & the beautiful presentation definitely impressed me & was very reasonably priced at $17.<br/>I've returned numerous times for their iced coffee, which is delicious & recently for their waffles, which are huge! My kids shared a plate of their banana granola waffles which come with maple peanut butter, maple syrup, ice cream & are topped with almonds & pistachios. At $15 this huge plate of deliciousness is a steal! I'm not usually a fan of waffles, but would (& will) order these again.<br/>Geeks also have the cutest fluffies for your little ones. My two were most impressed when two little cups with sprinkles on top & marshmallows on the side came out.<br/>The service is the icing on the cake. The guys are friendly & really accommodating. I came half an hour after the kitchen had closed & they still made us a plate of waffles. So grateful for this as my kids would have been disappointed after I promised them delicious banana waffles after school! <br/>Highly recommend you check these guys out. A great addition to the St Luke's/Mt Albert/Morningside area.
Manic Diner
My friend and I dined here on a whim today. When we rocked up, it was 2:50pm so they only had 10 minutes til their kitchen was closed but they were very accommodating. My friend and I ordered their homemade pumpkin soup with toasted ciabatta and fries on the side. Their pumpkin soup was divine. It was smooth and creamy and I loved the texture of the pumpkin seeds which was a pleasantly surprising addition. It went perfectly with the crusty toasted ciabatta. I'm really picky about my pumpkin soup and I have to say that they won me over and we'll definitely be back to sample more from their menu!

Everything we ordered was outstanding! My partner and I went in for lunch I ordered the eggs benedict my partner ordered the pork salad and fries. We also had a salted caramel cupcake and a slice of the lemon loaf they both were so yummy! My new favorite cafe!!! Highly recommend!! Service and food is excellent! I love the idea of using alpha/ letters instead of numbers for table orders! Fantastic looking cafe too 😊 And I absolutely love that all food is made on site! delish

Awesome new cafe (been open 9weeks) rad space, is way bigger than it looks in the pics. A big grass area out the front so also good place to bring dogs and have a coffee n play. Council is also building a park across the road so it'll be a good one for parents. Great quality food, pork salad was so well put together. Good coffee and smoothie. Ridiculously good service, we were approached by 4 different staff through-out our time. Fully appreciated the attention to service. Deffo coming back 👍🏼

The best cafe in NZ!!! The best food and the best coffee! I tried the pumpkin soup, ugly bagel and a latte. They were all outstanding. I recommend to everyone!

My food buddy recommend this place for brekkie. We arrive early on a Saturday morning. Normally it's packed!!<br/><br/>It was very interest egg Benedict I've order. It's slices of potato stacked together instead of toast. Topped with Pokeno bacon and pouch egg. Combination of the beetroot purée was just right.<br/><br/>Lovely service, very friendly staff.<br/><br/>They also have vegetarian option. Nice coffee. Neatly decorated cafe!

It took me a few attempts to finally make it here, trying two weeks in a row to make it in on a Monday (they're closed Monday's, but my busy work schedule caused me to forget this and try a second time) - I finally scored off a Saturday and made it top priority to get here!<br/>First off, the decor is outstanding. So light and airy for such a small space, plus the bathrooms were so clean and different? I loved the black tiled walls!<br/>Back to the cafe - it was pretty busy so we were seated at a big sharing table - perfect for a side of people watching with your morning coffee. The menus were simple and easy to read, I quickly made my mind up on the bacon bene, it was here that the cafe lost its half star, as we probably spent a good 5-10 minutes wondering if we were meant to go up and order, or if it was table service. Eventually a lovely waiter came over and asked if we were ready to order.<br/><br/>I ordered the petite bene, as I'm wasn't the hungriest, and it was perfect. The bacon crunched perfectly with the soft potato base, and the beetroot purée balanced it all perfectly. I got to try my friends pumpkin soup and it was delicious, tasted fresh and just like something you'd make at home - not the normal preservative infused crap I'm used to being served. My other friend got a bagel, but I was refused any of that - so judging from how fast it disappeared im assuming that was top standard too?<br/><br/>We ordered a second round of flat whites after our breakfast, and they were just as soft and creamy as the first. so nice to have somewhere offering Red Rabbit in Auckland, as they're one of my favourite NZ roasters right now.<br/><br/>Overall, A++ to everything, only improvement would be if waiting staff explained it was table service when menus were placed down, but that's an easy thing to overlook when everything else is so good.

I came here for breakfast the other morning after hearing about this place through a friend.<br/>I liked the interior, very similar to Dear Jervois (pretty sure the same owners) and they made good use of the small space. <br/>The breakfast menu is quite short, pretty much just granola, eggs benedict, bagels and waffles - although they do have a few varieties of each (which makes up for it).<br/>I opted for the salmon gravlax eggs benedict which came on a layered potato gratin. <br/>The thing that stops me from giving this place a higher rating was the potato gratin.<br/>The eggs, salmon and condiments were great but both my potato gratin and my partner's (he had the bacon hock version of the eggs bene) were undercooked in the middle :(<br/>It was still edible but just needed a little more cooking to make it soft and delicious.<br/>Even though this was disappointing this place was cute and the staff really sweet so I will probably be back to give it another go...
Amy @ My Dining Journey
The Auckland cafe scene continues to amaze me as more and more chic cafes open around the different neighbourhoods. Our latest venture took us out to Sandingham where we had brunch at Geeks on Sainsbury. Coming out on a chilly Saturday, the last thing we expected was a full house at 9:30AM! We opted for the recently vacated table outside and braved the cool breeze rather than wait an extra thirty minutes for a table inside.<br/><br/>Plenty of nice options on the all day breakfast menu that caters for gluten-free and vegetarian diets and if you want to sink your teeth in a hearty beef burger at 10 in the morning, they are happy to serve you items from the lunch menu.<br/><br/>So this is what we ordered:<br/><br/>Granola | A healthy combination of assorted grains, nuts and fruit, This was served with greek yogurt and an optional side of milk.<br/><br/>Pokeno Bacon Eggs Benedict | Poached eggs, bacon, kale and hollandaise on layered agria potatoes with a beetroot puree.<br/><br/>Pan Fried Tofu Eggs Benedict | Tofu, mushrooms, avocado, vine tomatoes, poached eggs and homemade chutney. This was also with layered agria potatoes.<br/><br/>Pumpkin Soup | House made soup served with ciabatta<br/><br/>Banana and Granola Waffles | Served with vanilla ice cream, maple peanut butter and caramel. Served with an additional side of Pokeno bacon.<br/><br/>Beef Burger | Made with premium beef patty, caramelised onions, ricotta cheese, pickles and chutney, this was served with a side of shoestring fries.<br/><br/>We were impressed with the food presentation of our food, especially the eggs benedict. Taste wise, nothing really stood out for my dining companions, but I personally really enjoyed my granola and the use of toasted white quinoa. The consensus around the table was that the eggs benedict needed more sauce because half way through the layered potato, they had run out of both the hollandaise sauce and beetroot puree.<br/><br/>Coffee was yummy, service was slow but friendly and there is plenty of off-street parking in the area. Keen to come back for a smoothie and salad!

Awesome place. A great place to meet and have a chat in the sunshine. Coffee and hot chocolate were all really high quality. Definitely bring my coffee freak along next time we visit. We three all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Bacon and kale benedict was just the right size with great flavours. Loved he beetroot puree and the kale was so yummy. Just something a little different to excite the taste buds. Was well worth the trip over the bridge. We'll be back with some more Shore Mums to try out more on the menu. And for your great coffee.Keep up the great work Geeks!

We decided to go to Geeks on Sainsbury early on a Saturday morning before it got too crowded. Great decor, every fixture and furnishing was well thought out and all added to the overall ambiance. <br/><br/> Great service, we were immediately seated, and were promptly served our drinks. A little under a half hour wait on food, but well worth it.  We ordered the petite Eggs Benedict with bacon, and the banana and granola Waffles. Everything was beautifully presented and generous serving sizes. The layered potato instead of a hash was a great idea, eggs were cooked perfectly and overall a good dish.  The Waffles themselves were amazing and the toppings were all delicious and high quality. The only critique I could make was to caramelize the bananas (I would even pay more for this) as felt a bit plain with all the other components.<br/><br/>Overall good food, the use of high quality ingredients and a small menu means every dish will be well executed and delicious. Also I would like to emphasize the low prices were great for the standard of food presented. The coffee also lived up to its expectations, and would definitely go back again. Well worth going.

We decided to go to Geeks and Sainsbury on a whim. It had been on the back of my mind and the name reminds me of the Big Bang Theory! I could just imagine the waitors in lab coats measuring out the amount of coffee beans with a test tube. Not quite! There's much to boast about their coffee lineup though. They serve coffee from Wellington boutique roasters Red Rabbit Co, famous for their labyrinth of flavours in a cup.<br/><br/>The first choice on the All Day Breakfast menu was Granola. It sounded delicious with white quinoa, glazed strawberries, roasted almond with pumpkin seeds. Nothing like the chew-til-your-temples-hurt type that I have in a box at home. That set the tone of being healthy over geeky. The eggs benedict had the option of pan fried tofu with poached eggs. Heck, even the Waffles had granola in the ingredients list.<br/><br/>The pork salad obviously was no normal salad, beautifully plated and garnished on top. The sunflower encrusted shell the a standout element. Light but full of crunch, the house made chutney and shredded apple was tantalising to my sweet side.<br/><br/>The eggs benedict comes in the option of Petit and Regular so you can easily satisfy your brunch craving after a round of gym. Again keeping it light, layered agria potato takes the normal place of a hash brown.<br/><br/>With an open bright space spilling out into the sunny outdoor setting, it's an attractive place to be all year round. The decor is determinedly geek chic. A blackboard diagram details how seriously they take their coffee extraction method, and shelves look like they belong on Pinterest. They show the same dedication to their food. Presentation is exact, pairings are purposeful.<br/><br/>It's a shame to hear that the Shore could have boasted this cafe gem. While it reminds me of Little King, it could easily take out the backsliding quality of the food there. Service was a bit unsure - there were moments where I got excited by food coming my way, only to have the waiters step on their brakes. That however, was minor and played no part in the rest of the experience. Geeks on Sainsbury, you are doing great things for Sandringham, looking forward to hearing more from you!

There are no words.<br/>Its an amazing place.<br/>Everything is 10/10.<br/><br/>Bona fide people, menu, coffee, location.<br/>Can't wait for summer here, the reserve next door is going to be off the chain. Coffee in a park! Looking forward.

The coffee was excellent, the food was nothing special. It was unfortunate that the staff here seem completely without training; we were given no indication of at least a 50 minute wait time, a coffee order was not taken until our food order was, we were not offered further coffees throughout this wait time, the water at the table was not replenished once, coffee cups were not cleared away for the duration of our being there, there was a further five minute wait for the fourth member of our group to receive his food. Not impressed.

Food was average. Service abysmal. Need more staff. Almost an hour before 3/4 plates came. Had to remind staff several times and were met with blank stares. Very loud as too many tables in a small space. A hair in the food. Coffee was good.

Sandringham just got put on the map thanks to this small opening which happened nearly a month ago now. <br/><br/>A bit of a drive out from the centre of city but completely worth it, Geeks on Sainsbury is a clean and bright little store situated at the end of Sainsbury Road. <br/><br/>Tom Hong (ex-barista from Dear Jervois) has relocated and is impressing once again with strong and smooth coffee. <br/><br/>Being a Red Rabbit Coffee specialist the coffee doesn't disappoint but thats not the only special item on their menu. <br/><br/>From waffles to burgers this hipster haven serves as Sandringham's newest eatery. Featuring Auckland favourites such as Best Ugly Bagels, there is something on the menu to excite everyone. For me this was a burger. But not just any burger. Their Beef Burger is constructed with caramelised onion and a house made chutney which made it winner for me.  <br/><br/>Perfect for the summer months - as it opens up to a small neighbourhood reserve - this space is going to be a popular choice with locals and coffee snobs (like myself).<br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #Challenge
