Review El Sizzling Lomito - Auckland Central

Angie Lowe
Wow so delicious! We had the T bone steak which was cooked perfectly and had a great smokey flavour. The service was friendly and the food was fresh and tasty! Great atmosphere with a live band for a social night. This place is a find on k road! The portion sizes are right and it's good value. The meat is relatively expensive, $38 for a T bone but it's good quality and I would have to pay more elsewhere for a cut like this. There are lots of good side options but possibly could do with a few other snack options. So yum and can't wait to go back!

We had medium rare scotch fillet it was well cooked and so delicious. The entree chorizo was sooo good! The salad came with it was fresh as you could tell straight away! Chilled environment with great service. Highly recommended to anyone who would love to try Argentinian food!

Me again, your loyal customer. This time I brought another friend and try this new shop. Still my favourite short ribs and kumara chips. They are worthy our waiting (a bit long). The Chinese waiter provided great service. I also gave 5 stars in your Zomato page. Hope to help you guys reach higher rating.

Came by for lunch cause we were wanting tasty meats. It is located inside the K'Rd Food Workshop and hard to miss with its large embering stove behind the counter. It wasn;t too busy when we arrive so we were seated and given menus promptly and able to order when we were ready. The biggest difference from what I can remember is that they didn't use to sell (as much) meats. They now have a cabinet in the back with a range of different meaty goodies. The lomito was delicious as always. The milanesita (fried lamb tenderloins) were a bit over cooked though so they were a bit bland, but the sauce that came with it made it tasty. Nice place for a quick place to grab some tasty food.

Ditch the vegetarian friends and head to this meaty place. Argentinian BBQ all the delicious meat on offer and cooked over nice wood fired Coles for authentic flavours. The empanadas are divine the short ribs were outstanding accompanied with deep fried potatoes, delicious.

Great little place tucked into a small food court on K Rd. Had the Pulled Beef Burger which was very tasty. Finished our meal with the Churros!! Good times. Staff are also good & attentive.
Evgeny K
Excellent food! I was surprised by steak quality, which was melting in mouth. Charcoal grilled lamb, beef and sausages are the must try!
Neil Chesterman
Very friendly, providing prompt service with good advice on the Argentinian wine list. We both have the steak which was very good with a very fresh salad and the side of potatoes was delicious.
Stacey Hill
Had dinner here last week and the food was definitely worth the wait! We had the Parrillada para 2 and the meat was cooked to perfection! Service was a little slow but as I said - we’ll worth the wait!
Tania Cottew
I have multiple food allergies and they fed me safely without any fuss. Dinner was relaxing. I had the gf lamb which went really well with the Temperanillo.
Melanie Argent
Friendly service and amazing food! Everything tasted amazing, and the churros we had for dessert were the best churros I've had in NZ. Recommended!
Tony Mills (Millz)
100% good old fashioned service and steak that's cooked over genuine wood fired char embers which has the wood fired taste good relaxing meal

Stumbled across this delicious restaurant the other day for lunch and was surprised by the high quality of the food! I ordered the Bandiolita sandwich and my boyfriend got the special meatball sandwich. We also ordered a side of the onion rings. Both sandwiches were absolutely gorgeous! We ordered 2 beers and it all came to a very reasonable price! Staff were super friendly and service was quick. It's safe to say we will be returning.

Beautiful meat and a great experience

Came here with a small group of work colleagues. We all got their burgers, I just got the normal cheese burger. It was nice, the fries were great too, but the burger was just dripping oil all over the place, was a surprising amount too. The other menu options look nice, would come back to try more.
Alex Tjahjana
Staff members are friendly and the meats are very yummy; unfortunately, the black pudding is a little bit under-par. The sauces are good and really complement the meats. Just have to be aware that the food can take a long time to arrive; their time-frame is 20 minutes.
Charlie Cheng
The manager is very rude and impolite. The food is average. He did such a bad job at communicating that made the experience even worse.
Jie Chun Zhou
Amazing place! Lovely meat and handcut kumara chips. Definitely come again and.recommend to friends.
Luz !
I had the bondiolita and this is one of my all times favorite dishes in the years I’ve lived in Argentina. But unfortunately the is was very very dry. I think it is both the meat quality and the was it was slightly overcooked and cut too thin. Service was nice.
Daniel Wilkins
Delicious steaks, possibly the largest T-bone steak I've ever seen - cooked to perfection. Shirt rib was very tasty and authentic. Suggest this restaurant for anyone who enjoys great steak
Miriam Burden
Churros were to die for. Everything was yummy, thanks.
Agatha
Worth the price only using zomato gold.
Diana Garcia
Nice place, friendly staff and good portions, we ordered Tbone and ribs. The ribs were really good and the Tbone was good but average the salad and the chips were pretty average too.
Eleshea D’Souza
I really wanted to like this place, steak sandwiches sound right up my alley, but my partner and I wouldn’t have the sandwhiches again. Had the lamb steak sandwich with blue cheese.
The sandwhich was very dry, the meat was tough and unseasoned, and overall it was bland. It made me wonder if the chef had tasted the food, cause it had so much potential to be great!!

I’d recommend they tenderise and salt their sandwhich meat (or use a different cut), add some sauce(s) to the sandwhich, Add some more fillings to the sandwhich and then we’d be keen to try it again.

In terms of the ambience: this is one of those places where the seating doesn’t match the pricing, I personally wouldn’t pay $35-$42 for a steak eaten sitting on a stool?

I really enjoy the areas and the food was good.

Very nice, friendly staff. :)
We've been wanting to try this place for ages and were floored. The food was great value for money 👌 the service was great 👍. Will definitely be back :)
Mufasakiller
Delicious food will be back again.
Vergil Moon
Was very disappointed by the taste and texture of the meats.
Very poor side salad.
Very average customer service.
Even with Zomato Gold, I wouldn't recommend this place.
Bonnie Zhang
It smells good, and tastes excellent, I like it very much

Absolutely delicious. First time trying empanadas and they had so much fillings, and it was nice and juicy. Service was really nice and helpful too. Will definitely come back again.
RachelArcus
SOOOOO amazing... authentic woodsmoke flavours..meat fell off the bone...the funky music created an atmosphere that was fun, relaxed and sung Saturday avo. Our host was lovely: we were interested to learn the boutique steak sizzler doubled as meat curer/deli ... Take homes! Yay!

Pretty Average.

Being Argentinian Steak house I'd expect something more favourable and special.

Yes the pickled onion and capsicum are not that often seen here but other than those the food is average.

Andreea Simion
Amazing place. Loved the food, service and atmosphere. Will be back

Used to check the Posonby store, but this one is more convenient with larger indoor spaces. Meat is as good as usual, tasty & juicy. Being surprised that we can have the dinner on dinner time punctucally as no need to wait the Q. Heaps of seats can be seved.

Nice staff and really good meat. We ordered scotch fillet and short ribs, both were really good. Definitely we'll try other things on the menu.

On that day we went to have dinner at the restaurant 4 peoples and 2 of us had zomato gold .We would like to order Sirloin but wasn’t enough for 4 sets and finally we had to change to the other menus. So,everyone tried Scotch Fillet instead but that menu was really nice 👍🏻 My partner give here to be the best steak for him so far and he was really enjoyed with the meal so much :) We will back to the restaurant again soon*

Beautiful meat beautiful restaurant and love their staff. Food quality is very consistent. Been here many times and never had a bad time. Recommend!!!

These guys sell great steak sandwiches but what I found out is that they make the best chips in Auckland. I went here to have a great steak sandwich but ended up in eating the best chips I tried so far. El Sizzling Lomito is an Argentinian Food Stall located in the Food Workshop in K’ Road, a medium sized eatery where I guess seats somewhere around 20 people, some on usual tables and some on bar table and stools.
Bumblebee
Amazing steak will definitely be back for the steak! It takes a bit longer for the food to be served but thats totally understandable since the steak is cooked traditionally on charcoal which gives it amazing superb taste to the steak. Highly recommended!
Ian Craig
Seemed to be a lot of Argentinians the night we went, which I took as a good sign - but in hindsight, I'm not sure why it was popular with this group as my wife and I were very underwhelmed. Whilst the ambience is great, the service was incredibly slow with only 2 waiters serving the whole place. It took 25 mins to order and I then had to go and ask for the wine we had ordered with our food taking 40 mins in total. The food? Ok but nothing great, with perhaps the smallest basket of chips I've ever seen served. Quite small servings overall. Disappointed.
Jack Food
We were happy to use zomato gold to have my favorite steak here. And we paid one and get one free. The steak portion was so big. And the customer service was very friendly.
Blain
Really decent place to go for a steak or steak sandwich. Causal environment and its cool being able to see the chefs preparing your food on a charcoal bbq
Starters were delicious and a great start to the meal. The croquettes were a particular favourite. Meats were cooked perfectly. Staff were friendly and made the atmosphere lovely.
CHIFAN.EATS
Pretty average place, not as good as other Argentina BBQ places in Auckland. It looks really really appetising and makes your drool all over the table. But the taste and quality of it is pretty average.

Food 5/10 Service 6/10 Ambience 6/10

I came here as I saw it on Zomato Gold, and unfortunately not sure if it lived up to the hype. It's definitely worth getting two mains but you may not feel fully satisfied after eating. The overall vibe of the restaurant is nice as there are a few restaurants situated together - I'm not sure if you can eat at the other restaurants together with this one at the same time, but if you could it would be very convenient. However, when we came on a Tuesday evening it was dead - about 2 other tables eating at the same time as us (6pm).
They do also have a butchery which is pretty cool to watch while you wait for your food.

The steaks come with just a salad on the side. The salad is definitely fresh (as mine had a bug in it) - I didn't bother to say anything to the waiter as we felt like there was no point. But I was wary when continuing to eat it. But otherwise was not anything special. Maybe we should have gotten some sides with the steak as well, and might be something we do if we come back here.

The service was subpar, the waiter was not very welcoming, not sure if it was because we mentioned that we had Zomato Gold (?) and proceeded to ignore us the rest of the night even until we went to pay. The other staff member that took our payment was much nicer, and friendlier.

Food - 3/5
Atmosphere - 4/5
Service - 2/5

We ordered a scotch fillet and a sirloin steaks and both of them were well made. The scotch fillet was delicious and the way how was cooked was perfect Thanks to all staff for the great food and service.
#fatlyfe
Soooo surprised this place was almost dead on a Tuesday night. Went here before the boyzone concert!! Had the 300g sirloin steak which was priced at $35 it came with a great cooked steak garlic butter and a salad (leaves) not for me due to my personal preferences. I had to order fries on the side cause who has steak without fries right...... the steak was medium rare and cooked perfectly, the fat was rendered well the garlic butter must have been mixed with some chimmichuri which was great! The fires almost seemed thrice cooked soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside and it came with a creamy aoili. Next time I’ll make it a point to try one of the sandwiches

Friendly staff, delicious steaks! Very fast service . Especially excited that the kumara chips were nice and crunchy. Would recommend to everyone!

the food wasn't very good and was a tad bit expensive for our liking the service is nice apart from the cashier but it was overall ok.

may try again

First time visiting the K Road branch. It was mostly pleasant.

I find that the branch in Ponsonby has a better atmosphere but it always gets too hot since we’re sitting so close to the flames and where the food’s made.

Service was good. The server was super fast (prob cus we were the only table lol). You do need to wait a bit for the food to come out tho cus they have to make it from scratch.

Lamb ended up coming out bleeding. I love a bleeding steak but almost-raw lamb tastes like like plastic. Ended up taking it home and cooking it ourselves.

Other than the raw lamb, no complaints.

Food is good, beef ribs a bit tough. Service guy is over friendly makes my family feel a bitembracing lol but nice atmosphere tho. Will come back to try others
Rob
Small restaurant but they do what Argentinan's do best. I.e bbq meat. Surprisingly their black pudding was really good too with nice flavour as usually I'm not a fan of blood and offal based dishes.

It's also nice that they're a butcher and you can buy the different cuts they serve too.
Giancarlo Lisi
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. Ordered a t-bone medium rare and was so over cooked on one side. The cook on the steak was very uneven and lacked seasoning. When approached, the owner then decided to argue with me about the cook on the steak rather than asking how to make my experience better. He was incredibly blunt and rude and put us off from ever going again. Avoid if you can.

This place is always and continues to be fantastic. The food was tasty and kept me curious to know what that last ingredient was. This is not something you could make at home unless you had a magical skill of knowing what random things taste good together.
Victoria Jenner
Had the set for two plus a salad and pita. Was very filling and a lot for the price. Salad was my favourite menu item which is sad as the meat is supposed to be the star. I would come again but have been to better places and wouldnt go out of my way for it.
I_like_pickles
Reasonable pricing for decent sized meals and sides. The menu is straightforward with lots of entree and sides options which are great for sharing. The empanadas are delicious and an exceptional size.

I like how they are so bed on wooden boards and they have recommended wine matches with the meals.
Shane Shao
Very disappointed! The lamb was undercook and not fresh, the cheese was rock hard! The chicken was dry and hard. I would expect a better quality of food in such price.
Alas
The customer service was very good. Nice friendly staff. However the food is a let down. Its quite tasteless. Eaten many Argentinean food, so succulent and smoky. This food is not. The lamb was overcooked and dry. Kumara chips was so hard. The salad dressing was tasteless and veges were bitter. Sauces are oily with no taste. Empanadas was the tasty one. Its a pity the service is great part only.
Boty
Average service, but the food is not that good... and expensive for a sandwich basically. Great meat to buy though. Clearly coming from the sister place, The Sizzling Chorizo.

4 of us came on Friday evening. Overall Great food and service, we enjoy it! It is good value for the food, and the meat were cooked perfectly median rare, will come back again.
Lucy
Quite frankly, this place was disappointing. Food was overpriced and didn't have much flavour. There was a bit of a wait being a Friday night. I ordered the steak sandwich ($19) with a side of calamari ($14). There were less than ten pieces of calamari - not worth the $$ in my opinion. The waitress didn't ask how I wanted my steak cooked and it was a little rare for my liking. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly, there were two small pieces on his plate with a couple of rocket leaves on the side. He said it tasted OK, but skin wasn't crispy enough. We left unsatisfied and had to have a second meal down the road.
David Arthur
I went there with a friend last Friday evening. I ordered Pork Belly and roast veggies. My friend ordered Sirloin with chips. When my meal arrived I found 3 small pieces of pork belly hidden under some very limp, sad looking salad. The salad looked like it had been sitting out all day and was ready to be thrown out. My veggies never arrived but when I saw the very small helping of chips that my friend received with his steak I decided not to pursue the veggies. The pork belly was just ok. My friend said his steak was good, however he refused to eat the salad. The setting was good with a view out to K Rd. Communication with the waitress was difficult. I guess this is why my veggies never arrived. She seemed friendly and tried to be helpful. We left hungry and went off to another place to eat. Definitely not value for money.

A few days ago we found this place by chance while walking down K rd looking for for lunch and what a find it was. The wood fire used for cooking infused the place with an enjoyable smoke that just increased our appetites. The atmosphere created is rustic and super cool. The woman who took our order was extremely helpful in a genuine way as we are novices in our experiences of Argentinian food. She explained the menu to us so well. I had the Bondiolita which was divine and hand cut chips which were super crunchy and definitely hand made. My work mate had a super thick soup/stew which was packed with meat and full of flavour. It was a terrific lunch and we will be back. To all the staff thank you for opening our palates to the wonderful food of Argentina. PS They have a small butchery cabinet section that reminds you of small town old school NZ butcheries which Auckland CBD really needs.

Props to the Miami Heat fan BBQ chef. Nothing beats chomping down some grilled meats and bantering about the NBA.

Blood sausage isn’t for everyone but you get a nice fat one in the meal. Personally we thought the chorizo was much tastier, a rich pork flavour which was complimented with some heat.

What was a little disappointing was the pork belly, it was quite fatty and there wasn’t much taste other than just oil. Personally I think it could have been cooked for a bit longer to get more charred flavour. Beef rib was great in contrast plenty of depth in flavour and had the right amount of seasoning.

You can’t beat the homemade onion rings, they have at El Lomita’s. Flaky, crispy and thin, would highly recommend this with your meatier dishes. A refreshingly texture and gives your jaw a time out.

Showstopper: Awesome chef and you get a wide variety of meats that actually have unique flavours.

Overall Grade: B+

After falling in love with Argentine food in Buenos Aires, we were excited to walk into this place and hoping to have our Argentinian memory back.

The service was absolutely amazing, the lady was very helpful and friendly she certainly made us felt welcomed..

Unfortunately the food was a big let down. the meat tasted nothing like Argentine steak at all. seriously I prefer to just throw the meat on your average household BBQ to the ones we were served. it's tastless, blend and overcooked. the cuts of meat were terrible almost uneatable. in fact we left half of the meal untouched.

The chicken sandwich was overflown by the large chunk of green salad that completely ruined the sandwich. I had never seen a Milanese sandwich with this much salad on it. completely defeat the purpose. The chicken was just boring, unimaginative and tough. I don't even know how it's possible to cook chicken this tough. Didn't enjoy it at all.

The serving sizes are disappointingly small which is a disgrace to the Argentinians. not impressed.

so our search for Argentine steak continues..
A warm and friendly greeting to a casual relaxing atmosphere. We shared the parallida platter. Everything was cooked as it should be and nicely presented. The recommended wine match was perfect. We are looking forward to going back.

Came here for lunch on a weekend using a voucher, the food was to die for. The steak was cooked to our liking. The atmosphere was so vibrant. The food is worth the money you pay for it. Definately would be back again

First time coming into the new K Road Food Workshop, pretty nifty little space. We sat inside down the back next to the meat cabinet. Was great to sit there and see all the meat coming and going.

We ordered the Squid Rings, Empanadas, Croqueta, a T-Bone and A Sirloin. Both steaks were medium rare and were cooked brilliantly.

Croqueta were piping hot and a bit plain, the dipping sauce gave it the extra favour it needed.

Empanadas were large, however the filling was a bit different to other Empanadas I have had. I think there was more spring onion than beef.

Keen to try their sandwiches next time, they look tasty and filling.

Came here for dinner on an afternoon. The place is situated in a nice area for K.road. It's located alongside a bar and across from an amazing cookie and milkshake place, so if you're looking for dessert definitely try moustache as well! The food is as expected of a brazilian style grill. The prices are normal (upward of just over $30 dollars plus for certain cuts of meat). I ordered the $20 special, which was a fair sirloin steak, cooked well and with a decent enough side salad. They had a number of sauces you could choose with the steak, but you have to ask otherwise you will get something standard. I personally love the chimichurri on my steak! We also ordered a side of veges, which was pretty standard and enjoyable. It gets a 4 from me due to giving me what i expected and being a good location. It's an easy enough place to find a parking also which helps.

Only one staff member (who was very nice) was on serving and clearing tables so unfortunately after 15mins of standing around waiting, we left without eating. Have had a great experience at the Ponsonby Central one though.

Food. Casual. Tasty. El Sizzling Lomito is a diamond in the rough. Located in a small shared venue (a ménage à trois to be precise); the wood fire grill proves to be the centrepiece of zest, affect, and precision. The steak is perfectly cooked (I ordered medium-rare) and delivers on all levels. The empanadas are to die for; perhaps the best in Aotearoa. Be sure to try the different sauces (chimichurri-mayo and chipotle aoli were fabulous). El Sizzling Lomito is a perfect find for great food at manageable prices. I highly recommend this place for any steak, latin, or food lover.

This place has been a pleasant surprise. I am surprise the rating is not higher. We booked first table and ordered a few things. We had two steaks, one chicken sandwich, empanadas and fries. The steak was cooked perfectly but needed a bit more seasoning. The chicken sandwich is delicious. The bread is amazing. The fries is yummy too but wish it was bigger.. For first table, its a total bargain.

Good spot for meat lovers. If it is your first time there I would recommend the first share plates as it includes almost everything. The portion for that share plates as I reckoned should be perfect for two people and the pork belly and steak are totally a spot on within all choices. I'm not a big fan of pork belly but they have so far one of the best pork belly I've tried in Auckland. Full of flavour and not greasy. My friend found the dumpling pretty good and the sausage a little bit salty. Overall, pretty good food and nice service :)
Sarah S
Dined here with my partner for dinner. This eatery is fairly small & it was pretty busy being a Saturday night, I would suggest booking a table online prior to visiting. The service was pretty average, we waited a long time for drinks & others who ordered after us were served their drinks first. The food on the other hand was excellent! My partner & I shared the chorizo, caparcio & sirloin steak with some hand cut chips as a side. The wait for food was reasonable & all of the meat was cooked perfectly, we thoroughly enjoyed all of our dishes. The prices are also very reasonable. If your a keen meat eater like my partner is this is a perfect place for a casual meal.
Camila Herrera
Everything about this restaurant was perfect. All of the staff were helpful and extremely friendly, the food was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere is like no other restaurant in Auckland, trendy and very cultural. I will be going back without a doubt! I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. 💃😎👍❤️

The Food was AMAZING!! The staff was very kind and helpful. Food came fast was not waiting long at all. It was very cool to watch the flames of the wood burning oven they have there. You can watch the Chefs prepare your meal right in front of your eyes...its an art. Very great atmosphere and great prices 5/5 for me :)

What a great place to come for a yummy non greasy steak sandwich .... fresh ingredients not smothered in sauce. Friendly service...
We got:
Steak Lomito
Bondiolita
Both very delicious

Fernando Mayoral
It's ok, I mean, maybe I set my expectations too high since this food comes from where I come, but if I have to be fair, this same place anywhere in Argentina would probably be below average. Perhaps is just my taste or maybe I remember Argentine food differently, but I'm not fully convinced.
Isabelle Bouchard
El Sizzling Lomito is a beautiful restaurant. I have to say that it was so nice sitting at the bar in front of the Argentinian barbecue, with the fire warming us up. If you are a meat lover, this is definitely a good place to go. The menu have really good and interesting choices. The food was well cooked, and it was nice chatting with the chef while he was cooking. Overall, cool trendy place; a must for good Argentinian meat!
Alastair Upton
Had the aged T bone. Was overcooked and tasted very average. Service was poor. The side of kumara fries was undercooked and we had to have them replaced. Really, really poor experience at this place, I would recommend avoiding.

I've been here twice now, the first time I was blown away. I had ordered the lamb sandwich which was amazing. Super crispy bread, delicious fillings and that chimichurru sauce is so delicious. The second time I had come (with friends! to share how amazing it was!) I ordered a pork sandwich which was pretty good but nowhere near as good as the lamb. My friend ordered a steak sandwich which was surprisingly underwhelming. It needed to be...beefier? Maybe the lamb sandwich has just wrecked all their other sandwiches for me but it felt like it was missing something. My partner ordered their special of the day which was polenta with osso bucco and that was pretty good. Kind of what your mum might make you for dinner after watching a few episodes of Masterchef.
Overall, I enjoyed it and would totally come back here if just to eat their lamb sandwich.
Niamh Slattery
Great spot on Friday evening after work . friendly staff and good food .we both had steaks which were very tasty and cooked well most importantly . great wines to match reasonable for steak priced though add sides as they will be needed I'll be back again when the meat mood strikes
Manoj Patel
Not a bad feed for $15, good to watch them cook the meal. the guy who served us was good and polite. would go again another day and try something different.
Gabriel Long
I'm a fan of the ponsonby central outlet from the same group, so was unbeleivably dissapointed with this total waste of time and money. The steaks were thin, dry and over priced. I ordered med-rare and got well done & despite being the only people in the place it took 40 mins for the food to arrive. Not surprised it's empty
Paulina Maria
Firewood BBQ, natural and rustic flavors. Everything perfectly seasoned, no additives or artificial sauces, fresh veggies salad, real hand-cut fries. If you have never been in Argentina before, this is a remote food travel cause it taste exactly the same at home :) Excellent quality meat and perfect price for it. Attention: welcoming and friendly staff. It's just perfect, perfect, perfect. Thanks guys! It was a pleasure and definitely its my favorite place in NZ.
Diogo Reck
Little brother of El Sizzling Chorizo, with a menu based on hot sandwiches.

Had an OK experience there, but think there's still a long way to go til it's as good as the Ponsonby Central venue.

my Grand Lomito burger was good and well seasoned. After I ordered the staff told me they were out of champagne ham, which didn't bother me as I think it isn't a good match with the meat. To compensated that they gave me double cheese. Very kind and way better.

My friend had a dry aged t-bone. It wasn't medium rare as he asked and, worst, guys simply did not trim the cut from it's dry moldy exterior.

Bobby Anderson
The sandwiches here were tasty. We have just returned from traveling in South America and it brought back lots of pleasant memories of the trip. We had the grand lomito and the pork fillet lomito
Chuchueats
Amazing sandwich, everything tasted so fresh and cooked to perfection. Only downside was the waiting time for the sandwich, took a bit longer than expected!

When D and N came to Auckland a few weeks ago, I knew where I wanted to take them for dessert. So I thought I'd take them to dinner next to the dessert place, so conveniently placed. Good thing that they happened to stay close by for the night, so we could walk over. It had been a series of long flights for them from the other side of the world. After a little stretch of the legs, I hoped that they wouldn't fall asleep on top of their food.
Mike G.
Well turned up. Looked kinda cool. Sat ordered drinks and asked mains. Seems that 'oops' we just sold the very last chicken. Random. It's 847pm and there isn't anyone here except 1guy. Would have been a good call to make BEFORE we ordered drinks. At least the Monteiths Pilsener was OK. Moustache cookies next door at least had a cookie for sale...
Athena
Went there on a recommendation from a friend. Wanted to order the calamari sandwich, but was told they had run out- a little after midday (although the place was empty), so instead ordered chicken and lamb burgers. The lamb was under seasoned, the chicken was super dry and just needed sone sort of sauce to tie the flavours together. Overall, everything was bland. I do not recommend this place.
A B
Ordered a steak special on a recommendation from the manager. It was literally just a steak. No one came and asked how was the food. In the end, the steak cost $35. We were never told this. Steak was plain. Very disappointed. Complete opposite experience of the Ponsonby version

Stopped by here for lunch. It was quite busy so we did have to wait a bit before we were able to get seating. Once seated we were given menus and had orders taken in a timely manner.

Don't let the names of the lomitos scare you, all I did was see what meat they had on the inside to make a decision. Aside from the items on the menu they also had special meals. I tried the bondiolita, the pork lomito.

The bread was toasted really well so gave a really nice crunch over the smoky, juicy meat. Really nice and fresh. Would gladly come back to try the other items on the menu.

Tried out this place with my manager after a long day since it is right next to our work place.

The place was romantically lit,and stylishly decorated, you could definitely tell they spent quite a fortune on interior design.

Having not done my research on this place before hand, we were quite shocked that sandwiches were the pretty much the only items offered on the menu (we were quite hungry), but we decided to stay anyway. Thankfully we did - these are not your everyday sandwiches. The serving sizes were HUGE, not to mention incredibly delicious. My vegetarian sandwich was filled with a yummy vege patty, melted cheese, beautifully roasted beetroots and capsicum, pickled onions which added some sharpness to the flavours, and a creamy dressing to balance it all out. Even the bread they used was very decent with a nice crusty outside, with a firm yet fluffy texture! Even my manager, who normally does not care much for food, thoroughly enjoyed it.

The person serving us was friendly yet attentive. This is the kind of place that just has such a nice and easy vibe to it, that I would definitely return to again.

This is the cut down version of El Sizzling Chorizo catering for us kids with smaller appetite than the big bone eaters at the Ponsonby branch, i ordered the Lamb Cordero and karma cola there, the crunchy roll had rocket, blue cheese, caramelized onions and cooked pears, was a bit raw then again should have ask for medium grill when ordering.
Always wanted to go to the original branch but is always packed therefore glad i came to this one instead.

We headed here today for lunch. The menu is made up of different sandwich and burger options, I had the chicken and bacon sandwich and my friend had the squid burger with fries. My sandwich was yum with the crumbed chicken being perfectly crunchy! Love the new space!
