Sigdi was amazing. The food was incredible and somehow the service was better. I’m dairy free and they were very helpful and offered any of curries to be substituted with coconut cream and was thorough to check if it was an allergy and pointed out all traces. They made sure that all changes were welcomed and you don’t feel like a pain which was really refreshing. Super accommodating and then amazing food means we will be back plus our food was made very quickly.

BEST VEGAN CURRY! These guys are amazing for vegetarian and vegan curries and if you are looking for something made to order they'll surpass your expectations. Really good service at a decent price and you can taste that everything is freshly cooked. Since going plant based 2 years ago i've not come across a better curry !

First time I ordered, the food was great. However, the second time, my order was lacking in taste a bit and was the texture was slightly off. The staff are friendly and are sometimes willing to have a little bit of a chat if they're not too busy. You shouldn't be disappointed with your order, as others seem to be having mostly good experiences :)

The dining experience was certainly nothing to write home about, though the service was courteous and professional. The food, however, was amazingly tasty - easily the most delicious Indian meal we've had in New Zealand. Highly recommended.

Wonderful service, attentive and kind. The food here is a cut above most other Indian places, with home made samosas, perfect onion pakora, and a traditional tandoori oven that they preheat during the afternoon and make lots of dishes in so they're smokey and flavourful. Their breads are SO yummy. Highly recommend.

The butter chicken was not my favourite; very heavy on tomato flavour. The garlic cheese naan was good. The staff were very accommodating however, the portions were good and the food served very hot even by delivery.

Husband and I had dinner here on our first night living in NZ. After a long day of travel to get here, we were so glad to be able to sit down to a delicious meal. The service was great and the food was quite quick to be ready!

When we went it was a cold day and we were warm and toasty inside. The candles on the tables really added to the atmosphere. We haven't had much Indian food before, and we pleasantly surprised by the flavours.

I've never written a review on Google for a restaurant before but I felt compelled to leave a positive review for Sigdi. My lovely girlfriend and I have had sigdi delivered twice and we've eaten in once. The food has been consistently incredible. We were particularly impressed when we dined in. Great, cosy atmosphere, awesome service. The people working there work hard to put on a smile and be friendly, which we all know is a difficult thing to do on a Friday night after a hard week! I had an eggplant curry, never had anything like it before. Sigdi's food seems to have a unique twist on things. The takeaway menu is also great, again, tge flavours are not your typical curries, was nice to get complimentary poppadoms, and they actually gave a decent amount of rice which a lot of places skimp on. Anyway highly recommended sigdi, best food I've had in devonport and amongst the best Indian food I've had.

This restaurant has had multiple owners over the last decade, affecting both the style and the quality of the food. We hadn't eaten here in several years and the staff and management are all new. They were friendly and efficient, and the food was very good. We like our food hot, and in NZ a request for "hot" is often disappointing. This food was not -- very nice! Might have been too hot but for the raita. It's not easy to order carry-out because the menu is presented differently and the online pdf seems to be out of date, though both offer standard northern Indian cuisine. Every dish we ordered -- baingan, rogan josh and channa masala -- was very tasty. The baingan was wonderful. The pakoras were very nice. In short, it was an excellent meal. We have since tried carry-out, and it was again exceptional. I think the person who claims to be Indian and who posted the negative review is carrying a grudge.

I won't go anywhere else for a curry. This place is amazing! The Methi Murg and the Butter Chicken are both delicious if you're after a creamy style curry. They offer BYO if dining in and the place is warm and cosy. The takeaways are always ready within 15 minutes and they offer a delivery service also. Easy parking out the front for pickups.

It is located opposite to the guesthouse we were staying at and was recommended by the proprietor. It didn't disappoint. Cozy atmosphere with a small clientele probably due to it being the middle of winter. Food was hot and plentiful. Service excellent.

Tried to get a delivery. Rang twice only to be told delivery driver was on his way (he wasn't). The owner rang the next day and offered us an apology and another delivery that evening. The food was great, if we are to go back, we will pick up. Can't trust the delivery boy!

I ordered a takeaway from here the other day was really impressed with the phone service. When I went in to collect the food I was greeted straight away. I ordered their family pack deal which had 3 curry's ( butter chicken,goat curry & bhuna lamb) & 3 naan popadum in it. Restaurant looked nice. The food was ok not so great specially when I came all the way from Hillcrest. But overall ok experience

Initial impressions are not great as very cramped and dated but this is a good value place which makes a good curry. Seem to be mainly takeaways and they do these well. Their $45 family deal is good value for 3 curries, 3 naans, rice and poppadoms ( feeds 5) Recommend the chicken sagwala but the naan could be less rubbery. You can eat in byo.

We spent our Valentine's evening there. We started with a mixed plate, came with two nice sauces. Especially that mint sauce we loved! The fried onions on that plate were lovely too. Afterwards we enjoyed a hot chicken curry and a hot lamb curry. Portion s have been big, so we couldn't finish everything. Thanks to the attentive staff, just bit shy, could speak up bit more. Can be proud what he's is selling. We' ll be back soon!

Excellent food and authentic flavours. My partner and I have had both dine-in and take-away. The portions are always ample. She is a big fan of Mike's Prawns but for me the lamb Sigdi is to die for. Great naans too. If you have room go for the mixed platter for two at the start. Awesome flavours.

It's been a good couple years I haven't been back and from the looks of things new owners.Anyway the beef madras I've had 2 days in a row is so good and the nann is amazing too. Be back again!

We've been going to Sigdi since about the year 2000, and we've seen it pass through the hands of about four owners. For a while we stopped going there around mid-2008, but at the end of 2008, we went back just to see if things had changed. And since then, we've been back almost every week--and sometimes twice a week. I'm quite fussy about my food, and especially Indian food, as I can cook just as good Indian food at home (I'm originally from India, and love cooking). So I've eaten in dozens of Indian restaurants, and I'm not your average 'butter chicken' food taster. I would rate the Sigdi experience as top class. The food is really good, and the service is good too. Of course, some nights it gets too busy, so I'd recommend you avoid the busier nights such as Thu, Fri and Sat, as there's bound to be a crowd as it's a popular restaurant. Even on Mondays and Tuesdays when things seem to be slow in other restaurants, Sigdi is quite full. In fact we drive all the way from Milford to Devenport, probably passing at least 3-5 Indian restaurants on the way to have this food. There's only one downside to this restaurant in my opinion: I have to drive. I wish it were closer to Milford ;) But then again, maybe not, because otherwise I'd be there every day!

We were at Sigdi on Wednesday to celebrate a birthday, the food and service were faultless. Inspite of being busy we ( the 12 of us ) were well taken care off, and my Mike's Prawn curry was yummy as usual. See you guys soon.

We had the best Indian meal on friday, as we had not made a reservation, we could not initially get a seat but Andy managed to find us a table(while we had drinks outside). The food was divine!! We have already made a booking for next saturday.

I am a regular at Sigdi,I love the food, so I don't agree with the other two reviewers. The food is in-fact much better than before and it is good that Ranjit - who ever that has gone back to Poona or whatever...and by the way that is the best butter chicken in all of New Zealand. This is my local, so excuse the emotions - we love this place.

Slightly better than Raviz in Takapuna-the restaurant is nearly always full, the dishes taste authentic, the prices are reasonable and takeaways are always ready in good time. Especially like the hariali (spelling?!) chicken and you can ask for items off the menu like paneer tikka which is very good. Very polite and friendly service whether or not you're dining in.
