Review Gloria Cafe Expresso Bar - Auckland Central

Lovely owners that have run the place at least for the past 10 years I have been coming here. The place is well maintained, has a great selection of food, and notably has excellent friendly service all the time! The only area that could do with improvement is with regards to speed. Whilst this is generally not an issue, there have been times when food and coffee has taken a while to come out even when they weren't busy so whilst this is a minor issue to note, everything else is top notch!

Quiet place on a busy road, perfect for the morning breakfast or a brunch. Close to university and Queen's Street. Friendly staff and good food worth the price.

I dove in, out of the rain and ordered this delicious, rich mocha latte. So creamy! It really hit the spot on a cold and rainy day.

We were a group of 10 people for breakfast with a timeframe to be at the High Court afterwards. Our breakfasts were delicious and cooked in a timely manner and the coffee was good. The staff were helpful and pleasant. An enjoyable experience!

Nice food and very cheap. Only vegan option seems to be the fruit platter. Friendly service.

My favourite cafe to go to for coffee ! The coffee is great and they always make it very quickly. I’ve also grabbed lunch here and their big breakfast is a great portion too

Friendly staff, quick coffees. Quite a few people in the mornings. But they make coffee quite quick.

Average tasting coffees but does the job.

Service: 4/5
Environment: 3/5
Presentation: 3/5
Drink Quality: 3/5
Drink Quantity: 3/5
Price per person: $5-$10

Every time I come here I get the eggs Benedict and for $12 the are delicious as well as value for money. The man behind the counter is always friendly and has a smile on his face.

Worst eggs benedict I have ever had. I was really excited to try the eggs benedict here as Eggs bene is my favourite dish. However, I found the service very average and the dish awful. One bite and I didn't want any more. I left my dish largely uneaten as I genuinely did not want to eat any more. The bread was not nice, the eggs and the hollandaise sauce were ok, but the mushrooms were terrible which made me not want to even eat more of the dish. Also, I usually love mushrooms too so this experience has just disappointed me very much.
I have had so many eggs benedict in the past and have never ever had an unpleasant experience.
Though the eggs benedict was $12, that does not justify the poor taste of this dish.

I purchased a cup of mocha this afternoon and there was a cockroach inside of the coffee which is very very disgusting. I will never go again even they have the A standard paper I'm pretty confuse how they can get the A standard from city council.

Went for Saturday morning breakfast and was very happy with the decision. Nice quiet place with good breakfast options. I had porridge and the quantity was quite filling with an extra small jug of milk and sugar. Lots of raisins, just like I want it. My friend ordered a latte and omelette with bacon and mushrooms which was quite tasty but a little bit pricey. He is a bit fussy about coffee and absolutely loved the coffee here.

Nice enough food, good service but very slow - hence the lower rating. The mince and cheese pie is like leftover spag-bol thrown in pastry so don't try this if you're looking for the traditional mince 'n' cheese. I got to try a piece of carrot cake, a very generous piece, quite yummy and very rich.

Quiet little cafe hidden on the side of Anzac Avenue. The location is pretty convenient, about 10 minutes walking distance from the universities. The food was priced slightly on the high end as a normal sized panini (not really a gourmet one as it seemed quite thin and small) costed roughly $8 dollars. The meals/salads were around $15, normal pricing but was unable to see the size of them.

I had a vegetable filo for lunch in the end, one of the cheap ones for lunch. Although I really wanted a chicken one, but they have surpringsly ran out of them at around 1pm today (weekday). Filos usually are crispy and light to me, whereas for my one it was all soft and saggy and only had a little bit of crispy edge. I suspect it's because it's been microwaved rather than placed in an oven to heat up. There was a variety of vegetables, cauliflower; carrots; beans and cabbages. However, it tasted quite bland.

I'm not sure whether I'll go back again.

I came here for lunch and a coffee the other day, it was a cafe we used to frequent quite often back at Uni. The coffee is good, and the decor is modern and spacious.

I had the pasta with pesto, lemon juice, roasted tomatoes and chilli and it was full of flavour but could have been a little warmer. The coffee here was pretty good, and the service was super friendly.

Would have been cool to see a few more vegetarian friendly options, but if I am in the area again I will definitely go back.

#challenge

Best value bacon and eggs in town, good coffee and the 2008 reviews are crap. The service is not that bad at all. I go here all the time and it holds its own. I like Dizengoff, Landreth and Collie, but this is more local and does the job. Has a lip smacking mince on toast when it's on, nice soups, but breakfast is it's standout. Apart from the porridge which has too many raisins for me. The PI girl Barista is faultless, but sadly she ain't full-time.

So I work about 5 seconds from here and esquires so usually I'm mulling over which one to grab my coffee at on a daily basis but breakfast wise this is an easy win. Tasted great and the chef came out and checked on the customers. The interior has been revamped with cool see through loungers, chandeliers and fur rugs. The food was great, not worth the $17 it cost >.< I don't eat meat so... This was only vegetables, no bacon or salmon ... And it only cost $1 less >.> I think that was a bit of a rip especially as it wasn't that much food but I filled up and it tastes good. There are a lot of other breakfast options and treat in the glass shelf. Also available is the 9.90 option of the day which is shown on the chalk board out side ~~~
