Review Bosco Verde - Auckland Central

Lottie
If you want to have a warm family gathering, then this restaurant is definitely your first choice! I came to this restaurant tonight with my partner's parents for dinner and after enjoying the variety of food, I have to admit, it's so much better than some so-called Fancy restaurants in central Auckland! Friendly service, delicious food! A restaurant that has survived for 35 years and still has a lot of regular customers, why don't you come? I will definitely come back with my family to enjoy it again! Thank you to the chef and service staff tonight.

Food was amazing. Perfect. Good price too. Very popular local can see why!

Absolutely fantastic. An awesome find at Greenwood's Corner. BYO, one of the last around. Go for two entrees and a dessert. The food was delicious and service with a smile. Looks like the decor is 20 years old, but who cares when the meal was so good!

Because of ill health I haven’t been able to attend in person but I have a neighbour who picks up for me without a doubt. These are the best pizzas in Auckland or maybe even New Zealand I don’t know but they’re fabulous they’re always the same as no variation a quality pizza or lasagna or whatever The garlic bread is to die for. Highly highly recommend this wonderful little Pizza restaurant If you want delicious food and lovely atmosphere this is the place to go Jan

Really charming authentic Italian restaurant and pizza takeaways in Greenwoods corner Great menu and fabulous dishes. On this occasion I really enjoyed the prawns in lemon butter and pizza bread on this visit. Tirimasu was good too Can also recommend the chicken and scolllop crepes. Just have to remember they are BYO .

Have lived just down the road for 2 years, so thought it was time to try out the local Italian joint. Grabbed a takeaway lasagne (made in less than 10 minutes), walked home (less than 5 minutes), and chowed down. Super moist, super yum! Will def go back and get Cabonara for my wife, plus will try out their canelloni :))

7May22 1940 Very awesome pre Mother's Day (tomorrow) dinner after a hard day tidying up the property. Bistecca as always for me, Pesce for my beloved and Whitaker's based chocolate mousse to go! Yummmmm .. 24Dec20 1408 Merry Christmas to my favourite New Zealand restaurant and its proprietor Mr Julian Snelgrove and his staff 24Oct20 1830 Just writing this makes me hungry again. Where do you go after fasting water only for 13 days? Bosco Verde of course. Yumm .. Bistecca Buon Gustaiao 200 gm medallion eye-fillet for me. And Pesce del Giorno for my wife. Yes when I check back in my diary it is nearly 30 not 20 years since my wife & I became loyal customers of head chef & owner Julian. Wonderful start to the long Labour Day weekend. Thank you Bosco Verde. Love ya! (I forgot .. DO CHOOSE the Rocket Salad. Only one word for it .. yummmmm again.) 11Aug18 9:15pm More than 20 years ago friends invited my wife and me to dinner at Bosco Verde. My wife and I have become regulars. It's an Italian foods restaurant with strong Kiwi flavours of cheese and vegetables. Proprietor and head chef Julian Snelgrove has a unfailing formula for food presentation and piping hot main courses. Delicious, tender, steaks cooked however you prefer and rich sides of potato. Finish with dessert and head home to enjoy the after dinner feeling of repleteness.

Really enjoyed our visit here. Enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly staff. But most of all the food is absolutely amazing 👏😋👍👍👍 I Highly recommend a visit here. 10/10

The pescatore pizza is excellent I have it every couple of weeks. It is consistent every time and superb. I have eaten in several times and again the food has always been excellent. Thank you Julian and team.

My favourite Italian in New Zealand. Unfortunately they must have been very busy before my 8pm reservation Saturday night ,because they ran out of pizza dough and our waitress was not attentive at all. They didn’t have the usual Ravioli special, which is why we came. We’ll have to return in a few days. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Georgina
Good costumer service and delicious food whoch was at a decent price. However the wait was quite long especially as we were the first costumers in. They do not sell any beer or wine it is BYO. Finally the restroom could use a good clean!

I'm updating my review from 5 years ago.....nothing's changed - Julian's still here - he's aged...I haven't :) - Still absolutely fabulous food and service. A little gem of a restaurant.
Madita Pleiss
Cozy little dinner spot - really enjoyed the food and especially loved the tiramisu. Thanks!
Terence Gross
Very nice and friendly staff and all the food for the 3 of us was excellent. We will definitely come back here again. And with a bottle of wine too next time as it's BYO.

Been going here for 20 odd years. My reliable happy food place

Every single bite was incredibly beautiful. The place is vintage and authentic to what you'd see in Italy. The aroma was captivating and the food.... well thats another dimension on its own! We had a variety off the menu and each dish did not disappoint. Put this place on your bucket list while your in Auckland and make sure you book because seats filled fast and replacement was quick too. Thank you for the everlasting memory that I created with my favorite Aunty in the whole world 🤍 All the best for future endeavors. When we come back to Auckland we will be visiting for sure.

This is easily my favourite place to eat. Once more, my waiter was extremely kind and helpful. I think his name was Lucas. Very clean and was happily surprised.
Alenka Ashley Snelgrove
Such a hidden gem! Delicious food and the owner has been 'doing his thing' for 30 years now. The calamari, tortellini (if you want something creamy,) antipasto, cozze (mussels) are all my faves of mine and the Tiramisu is divine. The staff are attentive and ask if you would like to start with a garlic or pesto/Parmesan bread (to which you should cause it's yum!)

Have been coming here for over 20 years, it is our go to birthday dinner restaurant and we call it Bosco Birday - have never had anything but awesome food and service - the staff are awesome!

Timeless authentic italian food and flavour..best in auckland

Love, love Bosco Verde - I highly recommend this great Italian Restaurant. My favourite is the BBQ eye fillet steak pizza. - yum! My husband loves the crepes. But there is so much delicious food on the menu to choose from. Have been eating here and ordering takeaways for over 14 years and it is still our favourite place!

Brilliant suburban BYO Italian restaurant, consistently great food. Never disappoints!

Food Never disappoints and the owner is a legend. Always so accommodating
Adrian Dale
Great food !

Great food. Great service. Couldn't eat it all :)

The tortellini was a letdown.
Paul Frehley
Would have rated a 5 with the only down point being the slow time it took to get our food. Once I received my pescatore I was happy. Tasty.
Tom
Pretty decent place but not quite what it used to be, quality and service has gone down and seems like they don’t try anymore

My family and I visited for a Saturday night dinner and unfortunately were very unimpressed with the food and service. We ordered the pizza bread and antipasti both of which were a disappointment. The pizza bread was dry and cardboard-like with a drizzle of pesto and no flavour. The Antipasti didn’t taste fresh and was hard to eat with the lack of breads etc, very expensive for what it was and the waitress couldn't tell me what any of the cheeses were on offer and didn't care to find out. The big let-down was when a family member bit into a small piece of coiled up wire in the salami on offer. We were all too uncomfortable to finish the plate at this point and decided not to order mains. We got our things together and informed the waitress very nicely about what happened with the piece of wire etc and she proceeded to get the bill together. Without making a fuss we paid for everything and on the way out a man stuck his head out of the kitchen to ask us if everything was ok (we believe this was the chef?). We again relayed why we were leaving however the man didn’t care for what had happened any more than the waitress did, said it was strange that we found a wire in our food and that they’d look out for it next time… not even an apology. Still can’t believe they let us walk out without trying to rectify the issue, offer any compensation, or at least apologise for the wire! After reading through other reviews of the restaurant, this certainly isn't the first time customers have found foreign objects in the food here. Very poor hygiene standards and even worse service guys - what a way to kill the evening!

5 Stars.

Beautiful and delicious food, perfect size pizzas and very fresh and delicious pastas.

They don't serve chips but for a good reason - they have plenty of other delicious food besides chips.

Friendly waiters and nice staff, food delivered on time.

Certainly would recommend, I'll be going there again.

Our family love this place. we love the decor which hasn’t changed much in all that time, the busy bustle of the place and the wait staff who are reasonably static over time are great. We have come here for years at any excuse. We usually all order the same thing every time. And obviously what goes on in the kitchen is wonderful, we have never had a bad experience.
The two different garlic, pesto breads, pizzas, lasagne and I get the gamberoni. Tonight I had the entree size which was plenty but missed the veges so next time I’ll have the main size again. Delicious.
Julia Louise
Nice local Italian joint, the decor is a little tired and dated but the staff are friendly and accommodating. They were helpful and knowledgeable with what could be prepared gluten/dairy free which I particularly appreciate at an Italian restaurant where so much of the cuisine is usually all about pasta, cheese and cream. I had olives and the entree sized prawns - I foolishly didn’t realise that the entree size came without sides and wish the waitress had maybe picked up on that and checked with me as I ended up leaving feeling hungry. My partner enjoyed a creamy pasta and the calamari. The food was good but took over an hour to be served and we both thought a bit overpriced.

I love the private booth for 4. It's very nice and intimate for dinner.

Everyone who works there is friendly and acknowledge your existence.

The food is simply delicious. I really enjoy it.

Definitely a must go.
We often come here to celebrate birthdays and celebrations in our family. They are always so inviting and accomodating to our large family and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. The owner is super genuine and understanding. We absolutely love coming here and always enjoy the food for the large portions and great flavor.
Marmite_ninja
Really good pizzas! We usually get take aways, and it's a treat every time. Price for a large pizza ranges from around $19-25, but it's worth every dollar.

Haven't been for a while but meals very nice and delicious with pleasant helpful service. Was told table must be vacated by 8 ( usually like red rag to a bull) but we found 1.5 hours was plenty. BYO beer and wine an advantage and no corkage charged. Will return soon.

this is an ok restaurant. The foods is ok and the place is a little bit tired. Staff are also moderately nice. overall too expensive for what you get.
Louise Russell Holland
3 of us went at 5.30pm on a Wednesday night. We were the first group there but the restaurant was full and humming when we left several hours later.
Food was outstanding, all our dishes were 10/10. Sizes are large. Because of this we didn’t have desert but those that went passed our table looked fabulous too.
Coffee was hot and strong- just perfect.
A great local Italian Restaurant with a well deserved A rating all round.
Highly recommend.
Bruce Martin
Amazing food. Friendly service. I live on the shore now so don't get there as often . but truly a gem. Keep up the good work . look forward to a visit again soon.
Dined again 23rd April 19, excellent menu. Well priced great service, fantastic local eatery. 😀

The pizzas are to die for! We ordered a group of pizzas to takeaway and were not disappointed. Each pizza had the perfect amount of each ingredient. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. I'm looking forward to dining in next time :)
Laressa Marinovich
Thought we would try somewhere new for takeaway pizza and really enjoyed our order. Friendly staff, quick service and happy to accommodate my change outs of toppings etc. Found all the pizza toppings to be top quality. Will defiantly be going back here and also trying out the in dining restaurant.

Great Italian food. Even my fussy vegetarian mate was pleased. BYO wine so take a nice bottle to go with your high quality food. Leave full and very satisfied.
Emily
Delicious meal! We tried the pumpkin cannelloni main, steak main, and the trio of bruschetta, the warm chocolate pudding. Everything was well cooked, well seasoned and well presented. We'll be back!
Austindavis17
This is one of our go to's when were craving for some comfort italian food. My kid really likes their white sauce pasta and thats a very big factor for our eating out considerations, at 3 yo he can almost finish a full plate! The service is quite good, have never been treated unfairly here and we always walk out with happy faces. Staff were very warm and friendly and loves to answer questions about the food. Our toddler was accomodated very well too.

Could have been 5 stars if not for the price and not welcoming chef. You are at least expecting to be greeted when you enter a restaurant especially when you had a very close eye contact.
SimplyMissQ
I shall just adding the photos to show how much I like the place.
Highly recommend for any family or couple spend time there with such lovely food.
Both of us thought the food over there is worthy.
We will definitely go there again!

🍕🍹🍰🍽

Went there on Monday with a friend. We were first there at 6 but the place had other customers later and ambience and decor were all ok.

We had the pesto and parmesan topped pizza bread which was ok. I am not a great fan of pesto but my friend happily finished what I didn't want.

For mains (entree size) she had the Tortellini and I the Ravioli (from the blackboard). Even for an entree size the meal was perhaps a little light in volume, but both were flavoursome, well presented, and perfectly cooked.

For dessert she had the Tiramisu and I the sticky date pudding. Both were ok but but I found the pudding to be a little too sweet and lacking date flavour and the sauce no hint of whiskey.

Service was fine although not exactly fast, but it was efficient and friendly.

This is a BYO and I didn't notice the corkage charge (if any?).

Overall, a nice experience but prices are neither high or low. Will we go back ? Not sure. It is convenient for us location wise so perhaps.
Jiyaba Kisateng
Pasta was too hot and mediocre and overpriced. Everything else is overpriced (but I'm not sure about the taste).

Staff was alright though. Not rude and they were quite honest.
Sophia
A great little Italian! Friends returning from three years in the UK have asked that we go to Bosce Verde ASAP upon their return. Their specials are always a winner, but I love their tortellini the most.
Prashant Datt
Went last night. Average food, quite overpriced for portion sizes u get. Expect to wait at least an hour for food on Saturdays.
Service is average. It's quite a small place and only have two service staff. One of them, poor girl, had too much to handle which resulted in her forgetting some of the things we asked for, the other one doesn't really seem to move. I wouldn't recommend this place

Recently visited for dinner here on holiday from sydney and had an amazing dinner the steak is incredible full of flavour and the desert was delicious! The staff were bubbly and the chefs were extremely passionate. New favourite restaurant will definitely be back thanks bossco verde

Dinner with friends. The food was nice as always however the service was terrible. Waited 1.5 hours for our meals to be served and there was a 15 minute gap from the first person getting theirs to the last one getting theirs. Very disappointing won't be going back
Foodie Feels
Amazing !
Rich and decadent tortellini. Best I've had. Entree size was definitely big enough because it is so rich and tasty. Calamari was also really good although could share 1 between two instead of having one each.
Service was good, happy and helpful waiters.
Dissappointed Diner
Very disappointing. Service was extremely slow, the meal way was overpriced, presentation was basic, veges consisted of 4 bits of broccoli and a few chips, meal was overcooked and boring.
Eating Party
Traditional Italian food. Very generous portions I was happy with an entree size for my main. Specials board has some real gems too. Service was fast and friendly and the waitress was really knowledgable about the menu.
Casual atmosphere no pretension here, just good, honest food.
Cost is reasonable given the serving size and quality ingredients.
BYO ONLY which is important to know if you want a glass of wine with dinner so come prepared.
Enjoyed it a lot. Will be back.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
Food just OK. Pizza very small was expecting something more decent.
Chicken livers probably not the best I have tried.
Service was just fine, the young girl tried to keep us happy.
coffe was good, desert better than the mains.
Overall just average, would expect more epsecially for the amount of money we paid. $84 for two people with one desert and a coffee.

Will not go back unless something major changes....

Won't be going again in hurry. Saturday night and my husband and friend had to accept their 3rd choice off the menu as most other things were unavailable at 7pm. My friend had to get her 2nd choice. I was lucky they did have steak and obligingly did change the polenta for potato. The antipasto was very average my husband and his friend thought .and was lacking some of the ingredients shown in the photo One pizza was good- the other one barely average with little on it and it was the more expensive one. The cannelloni had no detectable spinach in it and my friend rated the whole thing as poor overall. Her mussel entree she said was fine. To top it off discovered they had overcharged us today so will have to return to get a refund. They are BYO wine and beer- very unusual. Usually BYO dont allow you to bring beer and they dont stock any. I wish I'd known.Service to the table by the waitresses was very good. Final straw was to be charged $4 to change to mushroom sauce on my steak.

This place is unbelievable. Went tonight to have a fine dinner, instead ended having the worst dinner ever. We ordered the special dish of the night. We were so excited at first seemingly as some of our friends who have been there told us that the food was great. When our order (Special dish of the night) was served, we were very happy and contented as the food was really great. But that was actually short lived. My friend who ordered a fettuccine found a 10 cent copper coin on her plate of pasta, in which she mistakenly thought was a piece of meat. We immediately raised our concern to the waitress and advised her of the situation. She was quite apologetic and took the plate to show it to the chef. My friend just advised the staff that she just want the food replaced as she didn't want to ruin the night, so we carried on with our dinner. However, it was not the last of it as I myself now found a piece of paper or somewhat sticker (judging from the writings on it, looks like a price tag from one of the ingredients) on my risotto. This is now the second time that we have been served with dirty food. Once again, we raised this to the staff. We were then once again advised how sorry and apologetic they are and that this is the first time it happened to them (NOT as this is already the second time in a row). I returned the almost full plate food so this can be replaced with a decent one. My friends have already almost finished their dinner and I still have not been served with my food, so I came up to the waitress and the chef to ask where my food is. And what a silly answer I got. I was told that as I returned my food, I had no more interest of eating my dinner. This just made me snapped. Who on earth would just want to sit down in a place full of people just watching them having dinner. As for the staff stating that they will not charge me for the food with the sticker on it, come on, I highly doubt anybody would want to pay a hefty price for something that is unsanitary. You were even lucky considering that we even asked you to just replaced the food as we do not wish to ruin our night, but somehow, your customer service just faltered big time. This will be the first and the last time I will go to your place. Definitely not coming back and not recommending your place to anyone. For anyone making their way to this place, I highly recommend you take a look at your food before you even put them in your mouth.

I went here a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed.
Not only was the food over priced for what it was, the set out of the restaurant was too cramped and tacky. Also I noticed that the staff were treated poorly. Throughout my evening I could here the chief barking at his poor waitresses. Not a nice environment to have a nice meal at with family.
Will not return.
Neil Jones
poor service poor quality and rude, not once but twice wont try a third time. don't bother.
Mike Stringer
Our first time to Bosco Verde was dissapointing to say the least. True, the food I received was good, but my wife's food come out just as I was finishing mine. Personally when I go out I like to eat at the same time as my wife. This is unacceptable for a restaurant that has been in business for 25 years. To make matters worse the owner left the staff to deal with our unhappy situation, which was no fault of theirs. He should have stepped up and apologized.
Cindy Parkins
The food was amazing, excellent service. Staff knew all the specials off bat, without saying "specials on the specials board" which is common practice in a lot of restaurants. Heard nothing but great reviews about the restaurant, and it did not fail to please. We had a most enjoyable night with awesome staff, management and food... and we paid via Eftpos! Well worth trying, you will not be disappointed.
Cindy & John

We made a booking for 5 people for my mum's birthday on a Wednesday evening. I booked for 6:30pm, and was advised we would have to be out by 8pm for the next booking which is fine. We arrived on time and had to wait 40 minutes before requesting from waitress to place out orders. 1 hour 20 mins later, our mains started dripping out. By the time the last main was out, the first two mains were cold. Upon complaining, Justin (or whatever the owner & chef's name is) started yelling at us. Ruined my Mum's birthday, and quite sad because the food is good.
Gordon Ramsbottom
What is everyone on about in these reviews? Italian wait staff are the rudest people in the business. The French will at least PRETEND to be courteous. Anyway I found the waitresses here to be great.

I've been here once with a date, it was recommended by others.
The decor is a bit dated but I don't care about that.
It's hard enough to find a restaurant in auckland that serves good quality food and also when they spend a lot on the decor that shows me that the focus is not on the food.
And also that expensive decor will come out of the price of the meal.

Bosco Verde serves unpretentious great tasting food.
fully recommended.
The only gripe I have is that I wanted more of their yummy food. I had a chicken dish and my date had a vegetarian pizza which I had a slice of and I still could have eaten some more. It was great.

Greenwood's corner is a one stop shop. You can get a delicious pie from the Bakery for lunch, then for dinner you can get a great meal from Bosco Verde then it's off to the 574 club for a bit of how's your father.
Screw Flanders.

I have eaten at this little gem of a restaurant many, many times. I am perplexed to read the scathing comments written by some previous patrons. I LOVE this restaurant for so many reasons - the service is excellent, the atmosphere is cosy, the food is always, always impeccable, and the price is very reasonable. I will continue to go back again and again - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!
Owen McSwiney
We have dined at the Bosco Verde for many years. The owner Julian is charming, always greets us like old friends, the waitresses are lovely and attentive and the other chefs delightful too. It is a cosy, comfortable, intimate little restaurant. The food is always delicious. It is advisable to book, especially on weekends, public holidays etc., as the Bosco Verde is so popular.
David Boshier
The owners have done a fantastic job theming the restaurant as early nineties Italian. The only things missing are the candles in Chianti bottles and the Gypsy Kings.

We should have booked but thought it would not be necessary on a Monday night. They did however fit us in which was great as it is the only Italian in the local area.

As they were busy the food did take a while but it was well worth the wait. My Bistecca buon Gustaiao was cooked to perfection. The service from the two very busy girls was excellent.

More 'premium price" & cheerful than cheap and cheerful.
Angelica Koltonowska
The decor may be old, but the food is always delicious. This restaurant doesn't take EFTPOS but there is an ASB across the road. The olives are amazing and the garlic bread. I always enjoy going here.

Have been going to Bosco Verde for years, great food, good staff and the owner has always been welcoming. Don't care about decor, we go for the food. Hubbie loves the eye fillet and the vegies are great. Will keep returning.
Samantha McQuoid
We decided to go to Bosco Verde last week as we had not been for some time. I was a bit worried because of the below review - however I was, like always, extremely impressed with the service and the amazing food at Bosco Verde. I left this restaurant feeling extremely satisfied. The pork meal is my favourite! Will 100% be back asap.
Esther D
Thought we would check out this little restaurant. We found it not licensed with no Eftpos, very dated and worn, the waitress very rude and the prices over-inflated for the bland, undercooked, cold food on offer. When questioned about the uncooked food the chef proceeded with a loud, lengthy and condescending justification in front of our guests. Our guests also noted the staff "mocking" the customers behind their backs. Left a very bad taste! We'll return to our favourite Pappa's of Sandringham.
Steven Kirk
Bosco verde is a great little placed to dine in or takeaway. My family and i have enjoyed consistently good food and customer service. I highly recommend that you give them a shot.
Enjoy.
Patrick Fail
After living in the area for 6 years and not quite making it to this restaurant...we finally called in early on a Saturday night to try it out. The decor is tired 60s style with booths. We ordered the garlic pizza bread, a couple of entree sized meals and a salad. The bread was good, the cannelloni and ravioli entrees pretty ordinary and the salad was drowned. There are too many better restaurants in the area for us to be back any time soon.
Wayneo
Brilliant. I will be back there again tonight.
The Lasagne Casa Nostra is the best main.
The waitress is a little hottie!

Wayneo

We had a booking for 3 of us last Sat, when due to illness only 2 turned up. The waitress went to prepare our table when the owner leaned over the counter and said " this booking is for 3, I have a problem with 2" he offered no apology or smaller table, the rudest experience ever! The restaurant is outdated and scruffy, I ( and everyone i tell,) will never go there again
Rochelle. Van Swet
After booking last Sat for 3, one of our party was ill, so 2 of us arrived. The waitress began to prepare our table, as we waited the owner leaned over and said " this booking is for 3, I have a problem with just 2, you will have to leave" no apology, no offer of smaller table. I have never had treatment like this by any restaurant, here or overseas, also I am in the food industry and will be telling many people how rudely we were treated. The restaurant also is out dated, and scruffy. I dread to think he treats tourists in the same manner.Ultimate Italian experience ? I don't think so !
Paula
Group of four of us went last night. The service was great, our waitress was lovely and very knowledgeable. Our meals were awesome, I have been coming to this restaurant for over 19 years and never had a bad meal, My only complaint would be I don't come often enough and when I want to it can be fully booked. ha-ha. I will be back again. Thanks for a great night.
Pat
The food is magnificent and the staff are very welcoming the chefs are very good at what they do and the food is always of a very high standard, the waitresses are on to it and very polite. definatly will be going back there soon.
Bev
Last night I had the pleasure of sharing dinner with family and friends at Bosco Verde ... we had the most amazing meal ... without delays and the waitresses were absolutely lovely ... the chef explained the menu to us and I even saw him clearing tables and talking to others ... the restaurant was busy (next door had 2 patrons ... I was there to eat and enjoy not worry about decor etc... cutlery and glasses and plates were spotless ... all that matters ... thanks for a lovely dinner ... we would love to return soon !!

While the food was good - I was also surprised by the lack of service we had not made a booking and as we walked in a man in the kitchen just stared at us - not saying hi or anything. When we got to the table we were offered pizza bread - which was yum pesto and cheese mmmm. Meal was good but no drinks were offered to us so we just had water that was on the table and when we went to pay the bill we were told that we could only pay cash, visa or mastercard.... no eftpos or even visa debt card - If we had been told this prior to eating or there were any signs we may not have gone there. We had to go to the back to withdraw cash before leaving....
AJ
The food is fantastic, unfortunately most of the staff know the food carries them so don't make any effort, especially the owner - he's been rude to us on several occasions. The decor seriously needs updating. But we keep going back because the food is so good.
De
awful! was very disappointed with Bosco Verde after wanting to go for quite some time...the food was plain (two pasta dishes), bar one waitress the other staff were uninterested and unfriendly and they wouldnt take eftpos?? apparently they only accept cash or credit card, and cannot accept debit visas either. wouldn't go back.
Vanessa Ward
The food is always very good, but after reading the other reviews I can definately understand why people find the service lacking. There is one very good waitress & the rest of the staff are quite dis-interested. Their customer service & time management do require a bit of work.
Victoria
had to “loiter” around the counter waiting for table even though we were on time. The manager/owner appeared completely disinterested in our presence and remained so, even after reminding him of our booking. 12 months following - two very bad takeaways – the first - extremely dry pasta and the second/final time, pizzas were barely edible from swimming in cheese. What remains? - that foul faced and arrogant manager.
Trevor
We had reserved a table for 5 as a birthday celebration. For all of us, it was our first visit. What a disappointment! We arrived on time but had to wait for 20min on a rickety bench till a table was vacant. During that time, we were not approached or offered drinks. Once seated, we were informed that one of the mains on special and the mussels entree were off the menu. They forgot the pizza bread nibbles. A further 40min elapsed before entrees arrived. Apologies were made only after we had complained. We were told they were down to one chef, the boss having left earlier. After mains, we waited in vain to be offered dessert, so we left. While the food was passable, the service was pathetic. Altogether, an experience to forget.

I have been to Bosco Verde three times, and each time it has been a wonderful dining experience. The waitress is always extremely well mannered and helpful. The food always goes beyond my expectations. Guests that I have brought to the restaurant all agree with the high quality of the service from the waiting staff and the food. I love the fact that it is BYO and NO corkage fee. Great selection of dishes to suit all tastes.

I have walked past Bosco Verde many times and it is always busy and smells delicious so I was excited to finally try it last night. Fortunately we booked a table as the place was packed, even though it was early on a Wednesday night. We ordered a Pizza Bread with pesto and parmesan to start, it was crunchy and flavoursome albeit a bit greasy but it’s pizza so it is to be expected I think. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful, especially when advising which size of pasta to get, entree or main. Entre size is big enough, particularly if you are thinking about getting dessert. The main size was very large and for the one person who ordered it, too big to finish however they had lovely takeaway containers. The specials all sounded amazing so we tried three of them, ravioli, crespelle and the fish of the day as well as the tortellini and maccheroni . The ravioli was filled with pumpkin and beef and served with a smoked paprika and martini rosso sauce and it was exceptional. My friend who ordered it gave it a 10/10. I asked the waitress what was in the sauce (it was so creamy and delicious) but it was a secret. My partner had the fish of the day which was snapper in a tomato sauce with scalloped potatoes, roasted capsicum and carrots. The fish was fantastic with a wonderful sauce and the scalloped potatoes were amazing, so rich and creamy. This time the server was happy to tell me that the recipe was from cuisine magazine so I’ll have to track it down. Yum! I had the crespelle, a savory crepe, which was filled with chicken and scallops and served with a creamy mushroom sauce and bacon. Again, it was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of scallops. The bacon was a little bit over-powering with the mushroom sauce but who doesn’t like bacon? The maccheroni was tasty but a bit boring (at least in comparison to the other dishes) and the tortellini was tasty but very rich so I would recommend ordering an entrée size rather than main as it was huge. I ordered the lemon crème brulee for dessert which was on the specials board and it was heavenly, just the right amount of lemon and smooth and creamy. They also have free BYO and do takeaways. I will definitely be going back to Bosco Verde.

I am a little reluctant to write about Bosco Verde as it's already difficult to get a table there! Tucked away behind the ASB bank at Greenwoods Corner, Bosco has been serving great Italian food for over 25 years. It's a small restaurant and it's mainly booth style seating doesn't afford that many options for numbers and until recently the decor was very 90s- dark and getting tired. However they closed a few months ago for renovations and we have dined there twice since The booths are still there but it has a more light and spacious appearance and feel now. One great feature is that they have BYO - saves you a lot these days
The food is great! The menu is fairly typical of an Italian restaurant - I think in the Tonys style, but there are some wonderful flavour combinations and variations and plenty of choice for vegetarians. There's also at least one dish from every category on the specials board. Pizza bread Is crispy and garlicky The calamari fritti is perfect - it's hard not to choose it every time! Chicken livers are very tasty, prawns are delicious The fish with the grapes and almonds is so juicy and fresh.lamb seved with peppercorns mint and olives is different and the men can never go past the steak! Cooked to order perfectly, two of the three males in our party ordered it and said it was very tender and tasty
The wait staff were excellent on both recent occasions - young women with patience, courtesy great memories and clear diction is a bonus in restaurants these days!
Yum - just writing this makes me want to go back! See you there soon - don't forget to book
