Review Wu And You - Auckland Central

We enjoyed the food .The staff were so friendly and checking on us frequently. The place was so comfy and warm esp during the winter they turned on the heater for the customers. Lovely vibe

Great little place. A little bit of a tight squeeze as we were inside but close to the bar which was fab! Staff we’re friendly and quick service. Food was nice, a few more options would be great. Recommend the peach bomb!
Alyssia
Omg the food here was so good!! The tuna poke bowl had so much variety and flavour of foods that it was one of the best poke bowls i’ve ever had. Also the beef lettuce wraps were such a good entree. Food came out quick too and service was really good.
Coco Janssen
Such a lovely place, amazing service! Alice was amazing, took amazing care of us all. Made my best friends birthday that much more special, food came out so quickly and top quality. Amazing value, cannot reccomend enough. Sofia was amazing, made us feel so welcome 💛

Love the place for bottomless, peach bomb is a creeper. Atmosphere best and so is Sam excuse the drunken behaviour.

The service at the restaurant was exceptional, thanks to the attentive and friendly waitress Brooke. She not only took our orders promptly but also went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Her knowledge of the menu, coupled with a lovely personality, added a delightful touch to our meal. Overall, Brooke played a significant role in making our visit enjoyable, and we left with a positive impression of Wu and You.

We arrive just before they open, the person in charge was very accomodating and recommended great cocktails, food was great. Service as expected.

Bottomless. Really enjoyed my first time here had a lovely waiter that didn’t hesitate to top our drinks up as soon as we had finished. My second time wasn’t so great our waitress was quite rude, slammed our drinks on the table and seemed like she was ignoring our table. Food and drinks were amazing both times. Was so hot in the outdoor area even with the roof 1/3 of the way open and a fan on but it cooled as the sun moved. Overall had a good time, really enjoyed our food and drinks. Would highly recommend doing the bottomless

Had an amazing time! Cocktails were super yum, service was friendly and helpful and actually insightful! Went in with a large group and we all felt welcome and very looked after! The Lumino Mt Eden team will now have that as another regular for us! Thanks so much!

Bottomless Brunch a definite yes…Sam and the team are great…chill people awesome vibe…would definitely recommend 😃😃😃

If I could put less than one star I would. The atmosphere was nice, the staff were friendly, food came out at in a decent time after ordering..... until 2 of our 4 meals had hairs cooked into them!!!! I changed my meal to something entirely different and when paying the staff had the audacity to try charge me for the dish I didn’t even eat because it was more expensive than the one I ended up eating when I got my food 2nd time round???? Atrocious

Style over content. Seriously overpriced, and while the food sounds trendy, it was embarrassingly bland. $30 'red' duck curry came out green, small, underseasoned. The small plates were even worse. If you want to eat the same or better food for cheaper, head to Big Fish or Kiss Kiss. If you want to pay the same but eat far better food head to Saan or Mekong Baby. Just not this place. They're fleecing you. And not even for good food.

Wow! I ate here last night and was blown away, the wagu beef was to die for and the service was phenomenal. Special mention to our amazing French waitress who served us for her patience and friendliness explaining the intricacies of the menu... give her a raise :) I don’t normally leave reviews but the food was soo good and the service even better!
Raksha Tailor
Visited this little gem on Wednesday after work and was blown away! That Krab taco is like no other!! And the desserts were to die for. I cant wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. Oh and I'm one of the fussiest people when it comes to cocktails but whoever the bartender is made me the most declious strawberry cocktail ever, I could drink this all day everyday 😍🍹💯💜
Simon Warbrick
The Schnitty Bao was tasty, filling and excellent value. The strawberry Bao-Nut was equally great. The green papaya salad was a bit small and the sauce didn't compliment the meal. The Coconut and Pandan Creme Brulee was nice enough but didn't seem to have any Coconut and Pandan in it - which was the reason for ordering it. The service was very good - in, particular, Leah who was excellent.
Sune Farrimond
Wow! Fantastic food (taco was especially amazing), amazing staff and really cool decor/murals.
Lulu
Came here for a birthday dinner, cute decor and nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly and informative. Unfortunately food was not great couldnt finish anything we ordered apart from the dumplings and drinks!. Have been to alot better Asian fusion restaurants, bit dissapointing.
CARO CONSUMES
The food was so incredibly bland. I was really surprised because everything looked super vibrant. Apart from being slightly savoury, all that tasted like anything in the bao was the pickle. I don’t know how flavour can be cooked out of meat like that... the fries were cold by the time they arrived... DOA. super disappointed, would not return.
Teresa
Enjoyed the pork belly and the soft shell crab nori taco. Duck curry was average and the roti was not flaky and rather hard.

Service = 5/5; Taste = 5/5; Value for money = 3/5; Vibe = 5/5; Menu options = 4/5; Hubby rating = 3.5/5<br/>Wu & You was a great surprise! It’s a small Asian fusion restaurant in the heart of Mt Eden. The food was very tasty with lots of variety. Whether you’re wanting a hardy meal with plenty of sides or just a quick bite, you’ll find everything you need here. <br/>To read my full review go to honestfoodiereview.com and follow @honest_foodie_nz

I can not rate this place high enough! I came here on Saturday for their bottomless brunch and absolutely loved it. The staff were all so friendly and very efficient. The food was delicious and came out quick, the fortune cookies were a good laugh, the murals on the walls added a nice touch and not to mention the mimosas kept following. Such a funky little spot if you are in Mt Eden. Would highly recommend :)

I’ve been past this place so many time and I don’t know why I haven’t tried it until now! The soft shell crab taco and pork belly was freakn amazing. The soft shell crab shell n nori taco had a crunchy shell but filled with crab, avo and rice. The pork belly was super tender (slightly a bit too saucy but just scrap it off).

Came here for my birthday dinner on Friday and then another birthday lunch on Sunday cause xoong was closed.... Friday was much better in terms of food sunday was an absolute letdown! After Sunday I don’t think I would recommend this place again. The chicken bao was tasteless it was some chicken in a bao bun with some pineapple nothing really brought it together and it was nothing to call home about. The tofu salad had no flavour.... we left the whole thing. The nori taco was beautifully presented and I quite liked it. The pork belly was good to. Coconut parfait I would pass on cocktails is what I would come here for cause those were great!

Wu & You has everything you could ever want - incredible service, incredible food and an incredible atmosphere. The pink lighting and candles certainly makes it stand out among other restaurants. Going onto food, I feel like the fact that my boyfriend ordered three of their Chicky Baos shows just how incredible the food really is. I had been craving their carrot, corn and cabbage dumplings for the entire lockdown so I think that best describes the long lasting effect Wu & You had on my tastebuds. The Loaded Fries are also something to call home about. I love kewpie and spicy mayo more than life so was incredibly pleased with their presence on the Loaded Fries. The Broccolini & Bok Choy was beautifully cooked and the perfect side for whatever meal you get!

Absolutely in awe of the food at Wu and You especially the squid, ribs and soft shell crab taco. If you are in need pf Asian Fusion, you have to come here. The cocktails were pretty special too with a good list to choose from. Not so favourites were the Beef Rendang, whicch needed a little more oomph, and the Tuna Poke Bowl which wasn’t my cup of tea with the soba noodles making it too liquid-ey. Great ambience and service all round, perfect place to be with friends, workmates or with your date. Definitely a hip place to check out. Well done.

I recently paid a visit to Wu & You’s Bottomless Bubbles and Brunch for a birthday! 🎂🥳🎉 All the menu options looked great but I ended up ordering the Tuna Poké Bowl 🍲 it came with seared tuna, broccolini 🥦, wakame, shaved carrots 🥕, soba noodles and sprouts- the toppings were tasty however it came with a tangy broth that I was not a big fan of! We also ordered the Chicky Bao which consisted of fried chicken 🍗, lettuce 🥬, kimchi tartare and really soft bao buns! To drink we had Mimosa’s 🥂 which were perfect in this summer heat ☀️! Overall my dish was not worth the price of the experience and I left a little disappointed, however I love Asian fusion cuisines and I do want to come back and try a couple of other things on their menu such as the soft shell crab 🦀!
Renie
I liked this place! The ambience is really nice and unique with seating area being spacious and good. We ordered the pork belly, Krab taco and dumplings. The pork belly was overall enjoyable. The krab taco was a soft shell crab deep fried in a seaweed taco - it was quite hard to bite into but overall tasted good. I didn't really like the vegetarian dumplings but the pork ones were really good and would recommend! They came out in different colours so it was a pleasure to look at. <br/>Staff were very friendly but I had to ask for my water to be filled up around 3 times - it might be better to give a bottle to the customers to they can fill up themselves! <br/>Overall, I really enjoyed it and glad I came across this place!

Had bottomless brunch! Everything was so fab, would definitely recommend :)

I had fried chicken, pork belly from big portion. Also added pork bao and roti. Was great. Staff was kind and lovely.

A Mt Eden adventure led us here 🤩 Wu & You, what a great night with yummy food (including cocktails) and amazing service. Ordered the prawn & pork dumplings, pork belly bao & the beef brisket leaves - ALL full of flavour & came out quickly too. Not much to fault at all and can’t wait to try more things on the menu.
TheGoodKiwi Nz
Great food, very attentive and personable waitress who was so helpful. We had the 5 spice pork belly, the pork and Prawn dumplings and the wagyu beef betel.
Nicole Choy
Good sized burger but nothing that wowed me. Would give wait staff gold stars - they were friendly and onto it with service considering there’s 22 of us dining in, along with the rest of the customers in the restaurant. Ambiance was nice inside, semi-outdoor seating was a little cramped for our number and another 5-6 girls on the table across us.
G1k
Love the atmosphere and service. The bartender makes nice cocktails, I recommend Momo Peach (sweet). <br/><br/>Food was yummy, especially the Pork Belly dish from the main section. The one side seared tuna was bland for me but I did eat the Pork belly first which was very saucy compared to the tuna. Both dishes had a lot of papaya salad.<br/><br/>The boneless wu fried chicken was nice but it goes better with the sriracha sauce that is provided on each table, rather than the mayo that is served alongside the chicken. The eggplant starter was not what I was expecting but it was still nice and saucey.<br/><br/>I was surprised that we had to wait 10-15 mins for a table on a weekday so if book a table in advance!

We were very unimpressed with the bottomless lunch service. I ordered an Espresso Martini and was drinking it. Halfway through my meal, the waitress then tells me "BTW, espresso martinis aren't included in the bottomless brunch. It is my fault I didnt tell you as you ordered it, DW we won't charge you for it." To my surprise, when the bill came, I was charged. I talked to the Manager Neha and she said it was my fault for not catching the long list of drinks excluded from bottomless lunch. She also mentioned how we booked for 10 but only 7 came. 1. This was not true. 2. I don't understand how this relates to my Espresso Martini. The second issue was that the Manager is very strict on the time slot as well. We brought cake and the waitress informed us that we had no time to cut the cake with 10 mins left on the clock and so we had to forget about celebrating our friends birthday over cake for the day. On the positive side, the only thing that was good was the food. Great chefs, bad management.

Went there for lunch with friends, try to order something fulled but found there’s not many options on lunch menu, we ended up with coffee and a fries to share. We suggest you improve the lunch menu.

We met up with friends at Wu and You in Mt Eden. Parking was a challenge and so we suggest that you give yourselves plenty of time to find a park. I enjoyed a wonderful pork dish, Five Spiced Pork Belly followed by coffee. Staff were attentive and friendly. Would return for more amazing food at this popular Mt. Eden restaurant.

The food was really good . And the crab taco especially was amazing . The only thing I didn’t like was probably the male staff/bartender that was on duty during that time . He didn’t speak clearly and because of this I had to repeat myself quite a few times and he was quite rude . Didn’t smile at all . The lady that served us was lovely .
Candy
Got too hungry waiting for all the food to be served. We ordered the Wagyu Beef Betel Leaves, Wu Fried Chicken and Crispy Soft Shell Crab. All was flavoursome! Probably shouldn't order these three together as it is quite heavy. Definitely needed more rice. The Wagyu packed a punch and surprisingly the flavours together were good! Their fried chicken was boneless 🙌 and the batter was pretty good. The soft shell crab was drenched in the curry sauce but the crab itself wasn't too bad. Not too bad for an Asian fusion restaurant 8/10

I came here because I wanted to try the twist on a regular eggs Benedict but I have to say I was a little disappointed.. it honestly just tasted like nothing, the bacon wasn’t even that salty or flavorful. The hollandaise was meant to be lemongrass but was very bland. The eggs were cooked well and the brioche had the texture of glass but again, lacking flavour. I added a little sriracha sauce that was on the table which at least gave it a bit of spiciness. Also I think it was an odd choice to serve the meals on paper as I think I ended up eating half it with the food lol. Loved the idea but I think the execution could be better!

Amaaaaaaazing food and lovely service. We ordered Duck curry, beef cheek, soft shell crab, fried chicken and pork belly. BEST PORK BELLY EVER. So tender and flavoursome, the sauce was so tasty. We finished the meal with a fabulous cheesecake which was so rich and dense. Exquisite meal, fantastic time!!

Got told the kitchen is closed so we couldn’t order food, but they served us drinks. And then my friend was told she couldn’t eat food from the kebab place next door, Isn’t it illegal to serve alcohol without food? Anyway. They said we couldn’t sit at a long table inside, that we all had to sit at a bar because they were preparing the table for the next day. Maybe prioritise your current customers? they obviously didn’t want us there.

Went for my bday dinner with familia and totally loved it . The quirky vibe and scrumptious Asian fusion food 🤤. Will definitely go back again just to try the rest of the menu items . Bit of muck up with our order as they forgot to add an entree item . However the delicious food compensated for all.

Beef cheek rendang was not bad!<br/><br/>We came for bottomless brunch at 1:30pm - that was a fun experience. The food was decent - roti was crisp, rendang was tender, the salad was too sweet? - and the drinks were pretty standard. Nothing blew me away, but I wasn’t disappointed either.<br/><br/>If you feel like day drinking with decent fusion food, I’d recommend Wu and You.
Chan Can Eat
Won over by this awesome Asian fusion joint.<br/>I love that they’re just not sticking to the normal dumplings, etc.... I can get awesome dumplings at yum Cha - so I don’t know why the other places even bother! <br/>Back to wu and you, it’s a bit annoying/ noisy when the bottomless brunch is on - so try and ignore these times if you can.<br/>Otherwise. The front dining area has some awesome interior design style and makes you feel like you’re far far away from mount eden village.<br/>The soft shell crab nori taco is out of this world - highly recommend.<br/>Our drinks - I think they were called “Jackie chan” were nek Ievel - we had 3 each of these they were that good.<br/>Their fried chicky bao was also yum.<br/>I definitely recommend this place as they offer something slightly different to the rest<br/>Their dinner looks amazing and unfortunately we couldn’t access some of the items off that menu - so will be back!
Derek McDonald
loved it. really tasty fresh flavours!! the raw fish was off the chain!! loaded fries were the best fries ever. mmm the kimchi and beef hawker roll was the biz!! oh man im so hungry right now. can't wait to go again!!
MCP
A unique joint in mt eden village- service was ok considering it was busy dinner time; Ordered pork belly and fried chicken they both were so yummy, the side dish kimchi was disappointing(not fresh), will come back to try the other menu!

We had a great time at Wu and You. The food was delicious and flavourful, but it was the cocktails that really won us over. The food took a while to come.
Hannah
We went for the bottomless brunch and it was the best!! Our waitress was Amika and her service was amazing! The food and cocktails were crazy good but Amika made the whole brunch! Will definitely be back here :)

I've been looking forward to trying Wu & You for a while, as the quality of fusion food in Auckland has seriously improved in recent times. However, I don't know if we were unlucky with what we picked or not but almost everything we ordered was average at best. Pork Bao didn't compare to the likes of any other fusion restaurant around, Nori Taco was understated and the salt cured fish was nothing to write home about. We left hungry, out of pocket and craving a Big Mac. Enough said.
Amindha Fernando
Heard mixed things about this place but decided to give it a shot and I'm damn glad I did. There are a few fusion asian places in Auckland but Wu and You take it out as the flavored champions. The duck curry was so good it converted someone on our table who is notorious for hating duck. Kudos.

I ordered vegetarian dishes, after chatting with the waitress, and my eggplant dish came with fish sauce or fish flakes on it, even though it stated it was vegetarian on the menu. I could smell it as soon as I put the spoon near to my mouth, and the thought of nearly eating it made me want to puke. The Manager was very apologetic about it, however I will never be going back there again after my bad experience.

Very delicious restaurant located in Mt Eden! Absolutely love their fried chicken and other delicious menu items! I wish they were still on Zomato gold, would definitely visit more frequently then!

Great food, great ambiance and great service. We were a group of 9 who thoroughly enjoyed the evening including the pork belly, raw king fish, papaya salad, egg plant , steamed broccoli and duck curry. Definitely plan to go back.

Came here on a Saturday and they filled up as soon as the clock ticked 5! <br/><br/>For 2 people, we ordered a lot: from smaller guys we got: Salt Slab Market Fish, Wagyu Beef Betel Leaves, Eggplant and Mr Krab Nori Taco. From larger guys we got Pork Belly, Duck Curry and Fried Chicken! <br/><br/>• Market Fish (8/10) the longer you leave it on the Salt Slab, the longer the salt is absorbed into the fish. We left it a little too long due to photo taking so it got really punchy, but nonetheless nice condiments sprinkled on top of it. However I feel the fish itself was a little small and too thin.<br/><br/>• Beef Betel (10/10) WOW I DIDNT EXPECT THIS TO BE SO GOOD it’s a pocket of EXPLOSION, juicy marinated shredded beef with flavoursome dressing, further freshened by the subtle mint of the leaves. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It’s a lot large than seems too!<br/><br/>• Krab Taco (9/10) one of their signatures, the concept is really cool, like an open-style sushi roll. It was crunchy yet light and fluffy and the Nori shell wowed me so much. I would have liked a bit more seasoning though.<br/><br/>• Pork Belly (10/10) HOLY COW there’s a Chinese saying 外酥里嫩 which is crispy on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside and the sauce is so flavoursome and I loved this so much! Reminds me of shanghaiense cuisine, nice slaw on top too! <br/><br/>• Duck Curry (10/10) WOW another stunner, amazingly cooked tender duck in a insanely creamy and aromatic curry sauce, it’s not spicy but has depths of flavour, comes with sticky rice which you would want to mop every drop with. <br/><br/>• Fried Chicken (10/10) ok another surprise, from photos it looks dry and hard but COMPLETELY DIFFERENT it has a thinly battered crispy skin and insanely big juicy chicken pieces encased within! I was super shocked how good it was! Boneless too! <br/><br/>Overall exceptional experience, food arrived SUPER FAST and fast table turnover. All of that came to the price of $148, which is really worth it if you ask me!<br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Price: 10/10<br/>Service: 8/10<br/>Ambience: 9/10

Yay for bottomless brunches! Fantastic service, great food, and free flow drinks. I got the beef rendang and while it wasn't authentic (it was more of the rendang flavour but with a Thai curry texture) it still tasted good and I actually quite enjoyed the salad that came with it. Would've preferred freshly made roti but good roti is hard to come by so fair enough. This was my second time here and the service was as fantastic as it was the last time. The staff are really friendly, have great banter and most importantly, made sure you were always topped up. In terms of the drinks, I'd love if they had a non-fizzy mimosa as you can get quite bloated on the bubbles!
Chad Shen
In one word, AMAZING! In two words, DAMN AMAZING!!! <br/><br/>We’ve definitely order too much, from cocktails to entree (little guys as they called it) and mains (bigger guys, as you can imagine) to deserts (happy ending), don’t you love how they name the menu!<br/><br/>The experience is unforgettable, as you can easily taste the ingredients separately and also in a wholistic way once you bite. The juice, the freshness and the thoughtfulness they endeavoured to come up with something truly innovative and tasty. I think it defines what fusion cuisine should be like-it combines the best of two worlds if not multiple. <br/><br/>What impressed me the most was the wagyu on betel leaves. The first bite was fascinating enough to define what “happiness” taste like. Then the feeling was deepen with the market fish served on Himalayan salt slate which provided the salty taste under the raw fish, and the mixture of some taste like salmon eggs and chilly, maybe spring onions etc, which gave a mouthful of layers, and kept a clear and fresh exercise to the tongue. Your tongue would be very busy trying to figure out why it’s so good and which texture is which. The trick is to eat it fast, don’t leave it on the salt slate for too long, so it won’t be too salty at the end. <br/><br/>Admittedly we ordered too much, even with their reasonable pricing, for a shop in Mt Eden village, it can be even on the cheap side. Alas, we paid $180 for the two of us, it’s well worth it to taste a bit of heaven! The next time we’ll order less without having to box the leftovers! <br/><br/>The only improvement I could think of is the rice which is a little too wet to accompany the duck curry. It’d make it a bit sticky in the mouth. But otherwise, well done! Can’t wait for our next visit!
CocoOnFire
Was here on a Wednesday night , lucky there's 3 tables left so we can have one of them.<br/>Lovely setting with soft lighting.<br/>Big selection on cocktails, foods delicious, love the deep fried chicken, crispy and tender ; raw tuna salad with very tasty dressing.<br/>We will be back.

This was discovered on a friends recommendation. With the up growing of Asian fusion restaurants popping up, this is defiantly one to give ago! Head through for a unique blend of food.

Came here for bottomless brunch and it was amazing. Bottomless drinks is nice but the food definitely stole the show. I got the Vietnamese noodle salad and the flavors combined together were delicious and filling. My friend got the prawn taco I think and that was amazing as well. Cute courtyard at the back means the place is bigger than it looks on the outside. There was a big group doing a bottomless brunch so it was nice to see Wu and You can accommodate to large groups.<br/><br/>Service was great. The only thing was that our glasses were left empty longer than usual. I think it was because we went during the holiday season so they were a bit understaffed and the server at the time had multiple tables to attend to.<br/><br/>Other than that, food was amazing and service friendly. Decor of the place was quirky.<br/><br/>I have been to Lula Inn for bottomless brunch but personally I enjoyed Wu and You more.
Casey Falwasser
Love this place, funky atmosphere, lovely staff and incredible food. Asian fusion with lots of delicious options. A little pricey, but you pay for quality.
Ying Phung
First time at Wu and You and came for my birthday and I absolutely love this place. The ambiance is so nice and the staff are amazing too. <br/><br/>We ordered quite a lot but the things that stood out for me was the Mr Krab taco and the fried chicken! I also used the Entertainment voucher for 25% off. <br/><br/>Will definitely come back again.
CHIFAN.EATS
Cute and vibrant place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The soft shell crab taco is instafamous so I had to order it. It looks amazing but tastes quite bland. Other dishes are all quite yum but a bit pricey for the portion size. I’m really traumatised by the background track they play in their bathroom though. It sounds like some Chinese learning lessons but it’s seriously so so creepy. It’s someone speaking Chinese very very slowly and have silent intervals between each sentences. I will probably go back but will stay away from the bathroom I cry.<br/><br/>Food 7/10 Service 8/10 Ambience 6/10

We made last minute bookings and we were given the table at the front straight away. Staff were helpful and remembered our names. Food was delicious and we would go there again especially for their fried chicken and grilled eggplant.
Samuel
We came here for a bottomless brunch with a group of friends and the service was amazing. the staff kept topping up our bubbly which is what you want at a bottomless. I got the chicken burger and was impressed.
Aleisha T
You’ll definitely need to book to get the good tables out back. Even in a weekday. Food is a little pricey for what you get, but the flavour and atmosphere is great. Tables are a bit tight for shared plates. The duck is a must!
Edwin Khor Yeu Sheuan
Good food, sad to see that it’s no longer offering the 1+1 meal but good food and not sure about the drinks as the current offer is 2+2 drinks.
Kate Williamson
Came for the brunch which was great. Staff were friendly and drink top ups were not a problem. Strict on the finish time, but did let us cruise in a bit early which was great. Mixed bag for brunch itself. Some had great dishes, but cold chips and a bit too spicy on some, not the best options of you wanted 'brunch', but overall good.
May Hung
Came here for a late lunch , food are very refreshing, I particularly like my tuna salad! <br/>Places is filled with pinkish decoration with good vibe.
Ellie Siu
Beautiful setting, food was good, on the more expensive end, has variety and would do to book a table out back. The staff was lovely. The bathroom is a unique experience too. Haha

Amazing food and decoration. Nice Asian fusion place. Got to try them. If you like spicy food. The Vietnamese beef noodles is a must try. Burger was very good too.<br/>Good service good price.<br/><br/>Parking is easy to find too.<br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Service: 10/10<br/>Cost: 10/10

Our group sat in the rear “garden” area on a hot humid night feeling very much like we could have been somewhere in Asia. The vibe was casual, trendy, friendly with a really interesting menu - would steer clear off the sushi fries ‘tho!<br/>Service was good & everyone loved the many dishes we shared (with the above exception)<br/>
Joyce
Staff was very welcoming and attentive. Absolutely enjoyed the chilli eggs! Hot chocolate and latte was also very good. Loved the ambiance of the place.
Jo
Amazing food! Had a girls date, first time coming here love the atmosphere, feel relax and chill. The food is very good and portion size is just right to share in between 2-3. the pork belly is very good and I love the soft shell crab taco! A little spicy but spicy good :)
Vincent
Came here for a birthday celebration, cocktails are great , highly recommend Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan . Staff is extremely friendly , food came out fast . The minus point is for Kimchi which was terribly salty, waitress did offer for another kimchi dish but didnt make any difference
L ?
Staff was polite and friendly and the ambience was awesome. The food was okay, it tasted a little fatty for me so finishing everything was a mission

Came here for my friends’ bday celebration and had a good time.<br/><br/>Service and ambience: excellent dinner service. Staff was friendly and helpful. The place was really crowded and lively. The place was dark and filled with neon lights.<br/><br/>Food: average. We ordered Wu fried chickens, five spice pork belly, beef roll ups, one sided seared tuna, market fish and duck red curry, plus two types of dumplings: shiitake and pork/prawn. The fried chickens and the duck red curry were the only things that are actually tasty. The dumplings were bad, especially the skin, very thick and chewy. The peanut sauce for the beef roll ups were also good. The seared tuna was average, but the salad that came with it was good. The market fish was overcooked.<br/><br/>Coming here would be a one-time experience for me. <br/>
Mary F
Really good service, our waitress memorised all our names and was very friendly and nice. Delicious food, were in a group of 4 which is good for the sharing mains. The sushi fries are a must.
Saasha
I’ve been wondering what the hype is here for a while now and I see why!<br/><br/>The staff are all lovely and the food is divine! I suggest going all out and getting some cocktails too. The deco here is so beautiful!
Auckland Foodprint
Overall food was good, especially the Vietnamese beef salad. Would definitely order this again. However, not sold on the chilli scrambled - not worth the money for slightly over cooked scrambled eggs with bread .. vibe was nice :)
Flippynz
Colleague recommended this place and i dont spend much time out in mount eden so i went for it. Pork and prawn Dumplings are on point 5/5 . Fried chicken is to be shared and looks amazing is tender but i found lacking in flavour a bit in a too natural kind of way. Hawker roll as a whole was good not to much of a fan how sweet the beef was. They have their own beer but rest of selection doesnt jump out. Decent cocktail selection but its a school night
J Delicieux
Nice fusion Asian euro dishes. The service was nice and we had delicious bacon eggs benedict with brioche, Kaarage chicken bao & Fish burger with skinny fries. The fish burger was too salty for my liking but the fries was very crunchy and tasty.<br/>I highly recommend the kaarage chicken bao. Overall a nice place to dine
Jenny Kim
Got the tuna, fried chicken, sushi fries & eggplant. All dishes were good (especially the chicken & tuna) except the sushi fries was just deep fried rice 🤔

Came here for brunch the other weekend. The decor of the place is unique, trendy and vibrant - nice atmosphere. The food was alright but didn’t stand out as anything too special. I had the fried chicken burger and my gf had the chilli scrambled eggs. She seemed to enjoy her dish more than I enjoyed mine. Overall, it was a nice experience but just wasn’t personally blown away by the food
Hasini Ratnasekera
Had a hassle free Zomato gold experience here. We went with two Gold members in the group and we were able to get 2 complementary dishes. Food was also delicious

Duck curry was the def the highlight of the meal. So fragrant and the duck was moist and fell of the bone. Broc was fresh with a nice crunch. Fried chicken was ok. Not tasty like you’d expect fried chicken to be. The aioli was pretty bland too but def needed it with chicken. Fast and friendly service.

The wait staff were super friendly, there is lots of food and drink options and they taste great too. I had the Bruce Lee cocktail which is a twist on a margarita, very delicious. I had the karrage chicken which was nice and tender and the pork bao which was soft and tender. They were super busy but I felt we didn’t wait that long to get our food etc.

Awesome setting and yummy food. <br/><br/>Place has a nice vibe and friendly staff. Best espresso martini I’ve had in AUCKLAND too! <br/><br/>Highly recommend to visit
Aimee.
This asian fusion restaurant offers unique and special dishes. We ordered the roti, sushi fries, fried chicken wings, eggplant and seared tuna. The service was amazing (we had an asian girl look after us the whole night and she was super attentive and friendly and made good recommendations). I definitely recommend the eggplant and the chicken wings, they were my favourite dishes.

Love this place! Amazing food and ambiance and the best espresso martini i have had hands down! The gelato dessert really is as good as they say. Can’t get enough!

Nice decoration and good customer service but the food was a bit pricey for quantity and quality in my opinion. Most mains for dinner cost around $28-$30 and I thought it would be bigger than what we got. The taste was alright considering is Asian fusion food. Kimchi was a big let down as it tasted just like plain cabbage pickle with nothing close to kimchi. Sticky rice - yes the rice we got was kinda sticky but for Asian we would say the rice was cooked with too much water. But some people might like it but I’m not a big fan. I prefer normal jasmine rice. Hoisin sauce in the pork belly dish was my favorite - really tasty!

Very friendly staff with the best intentions. I really enjoyed the beef hawker roll , it was yum! However the sushi fries were a definite fail, they were super oily and there was more batter than rice. We had one fry each and let the rest go back. That must mean something as we wouldn’t usually waste food but the fries were not good. We both left the place unsatisfied and with a sore stomach. I doubt either of us will be back.

Wu & You is one of my favourite restaurants in Auckland! I've been there 3 times now and every time is amazing. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is relaxed and romantic. Looking forward to our next visit already! Reccomend the pork belly, shitake dumplings, duck curry and the crab tacos. Oh and the strawberry bao-nut 😍

Deep fried goodness. Soft shell crab taco was superbly crunchy. Karaage Chicken Baos were ok but we had to send half the food back to kitchen as the chicken was not cooked thoroughly (still red and slightly bloody). They were kind enough to replace it with no fuss. We ordered the Karaage bao for our 6yo child as there wasn’t any other child-friendly item or kids menu available. This is not a ‘casual’ place to bring kids, it is more like a funky bar for young adults. Pretty packed place for late lunch (2pm) in the weekend.

Really enjoyed the food especially the sushi fries. Coffee was ok, not great but the food made up for it. Despite the hike from South Auckland, we will definitely be back.
Stephanie Lee
Had the fish burger which was delicious but $19.70 or something for a burger with just fish and some veges with no sides was way overpriced. Good deal with zomato gold though.
Jasmine
Food was good but service we got definitely wasn’t. Was served by a staff named Gemma and was super pushy for us to get drinks (she had approached us for 5 or more times over the 1.5hrs we were there). We also felt immensely judged by her reaction when we told her that we only wanted mains as she told us that she was under impression that we were going for the ‘Bottomless Brunch’ option (although none of us has ever mentioned anything about it). Did not expect this level of service from a restaurant with such high rating.

Food comes quick. Staffs was very friendly and nice. Such a great place for catch up. The area is nice. Love the setting of the place. Food is great.

We order market fish. <br/>Very very salty. <br/>Very bad experience. <br/>Never again. <br/>Curry is fine , but that yummy <br/>Good service <br/>Waitress is very welcoming

Totally amazed by the service and foods they served last night. Staffs are friendly and helpful despite was a busy night. We love both dishes that we ordered, Duck Red Curry & Beef Bistik Roll Up. It was so yummmm... We will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Food was good nothing that really stood out. <br/>I did really like the seaweed taco thing with the soft shell crab tho! Nice and crispyyyy <br/>Dont get the dumplings. Skin was chewy and filling was dry. <br/><br/>Service was really good! <br/>Friendly and removed empty plates and topped up water when needed. <br/>Nice ambience and vibe they were really busy so I guess a lot of people do like it. <br/><br/><br/>If I didn’t use gold I don’t think I would have wanted to pay that much. <br/>I think you can get the same kind of food but for a cheaper price and quality else where like the duck curry, deep fried chicken & the beef lettuce thing.<br/><br/>

Came here for brunch with my girlfriend and we loved it. Service was incredibly fast and the food was perfect. Great for a date or just a chill time with some friends. The atmosphere is really nice and you can tell they took their time designing the place :)

Love the fried chicken burger during lunch. Absolutely mouth-watering! Love the atmosphere too. Not much of asian fusion than you’d expect. Nonetheless, great tasting food.

Having Zomato Gold made dining at this restaurant worthwhile. I honestly would only come back to use the 1 + 1 deal on food or to use first table. But on the whole, the place is pretty great; the ambience is very aesthetically pleasing for the IG shots and the food is mediocrely tasty.  <br/><br/>However I would not advise you to order the sushi fries, they unfortunately were a let down -they are literally sticks of vinegar rice that are deep fried. ?!! ?!! I do not recommend them at all. It was a big let down. But I do recommend the DIY spring rolls.

Delish food, amazing service! Can’t wait to come back and check out their dinner menu and bottomless brunch. <br/>Great value for money and portion size

Came here as we found it on Zomato gold. We had 3ppl with membership so we got 3 dishes for free! Super good deal. The food was nice and flavourful, but the portions were small compared to its price. My favourite dishes was the beef hawker roll, the eggplant, the seared tuna and the duck curry.

Service is good. Friendly staff. Food wise not tat great everything taste sour both burger and taco even the sauce are sour dunno why. I am sorry nothing to write home about the food.
Yulia
Fantastic service, very friendly and attentive staff. I felt like I was taken somewhere in East Asia ☺️<br/>Everything was great except Wu Fried Chicken. It was crispy; the portion was huge, which definitely can feed two hungry people. BUT it lacked that fiery Szechuan spice that I was craving and expecting. The dish tasted rather bland and I had to ask for some Sriracha sauce to make it a bit more pleasant to eat. Other than that, great experience and I look forward to coming back and trying other stuff.
Cindy Luo
Was recommended the chilli scrambled eggs. <br/>This was yum, reasonable amount of crab and the chilli sauce made the dish a star. <br/>Would reorder this again with more chili sauce next time. Got the five spiced pork hawker roll take away for my partner and was disappointed as it was quite dry.
Matchstick Reviews
Cool atmosphere and a funky little place that definitely gets busy. The vibe and decor of the place was very current and individual however, the service and food just doesn't quite add up here.<br/><br/>The food was good but nothing memorable, there were some dishes such as the papaya salad that just felt a bit bland, also the crab taco felt rather confused and in some cases I felt that not everything worked. Unfortunately the dumplings were a bit rubbery. But, there were some winners such as the fried chicken. This was unfortunate as the menu seemed promising and exciting and with plenty of gluten free options!<br/><br/>The service I have to say was slightly disappointing, the drinks and food unfortunately came out at a below average pace. But, the staff were all very friendly which meant that the slower pace wasn't so bad.<br/><br/>Overall it's a cool place with a buzzy vibe but the food is inconsistent and in some cases a little lack lustre. However as mentioned there are definitely some winners on an exciting menu. I would still recommend the place for a casual dinner where you can have good conversation and decent food, but don't have too great of expectations.
Kathleen.jumamoy
Great value for good portions! (except for the fish) Loved the ambience of the place! I highly recommend their chicken! I’m just writing this to hit the characters limit..
Jay
To be fair, this place is great for the Instagram story and the service was impeccable. Their menu also gets credibility for their creative fusion options.<br/><br/>Unfortunately it's down hill from there when it comes to the food and drink - nothing particularly tasty and quite disappointing.<br/><br/>Maybe going for a Berry Smoothie, Sushi Fries, and a Chicken Bao wasn't their intended combination, but none of them were things to write home about in their own right.<br/><br/>I think this place has lots of potential and clearly other reviewers really like it, but I think the food needs a quality upgrade to deserve it's reputation.
Food And People
We came here mid week with friends.  We had a reservation for 4 and we were seated and waiting for the other two.  I was thinking that the table was going to be a little small for 4 - considering it knew it was sharing food.  There seems to be a trend with sharing food restaurants to squeeze people on tiny tables and it just doesn't work!  When the other two arrived they told tis that a 5ht person had bene invited so the staff were great about finding us another table - and the excellent news was that we had tons of space!  From there it just got better with everything we ordered being amazing (but we all loved the tacos!) and us enjoying a great night of food; wine and friends.  Oh...and the coffee to finishes was excellent.  I would give a 5 star if tables were larger for all groups.

Food: 3.5/5<br/>Ambience: 5/5<br/>Cost: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/><br/>We ordered the One Sided Seared Tuna Salad (3.5/5), Shiitake Mushroom Dumplings (3.5/5) and Soft Shell Crab Taco (4/5) (not pictured). <br/><br/>The Seared Tuna Salad was slightly abit dry but together with the salad and the delicious dressing worked well together. Prior to ordering the Shiitake Mushroom dumplings we heard great things from our friends. Presentation wise - beautiful, however taste wise - it was OK, slightly more acidic tasting than expected. The Soft Shell Crab Taco was definitely the winner for us. The taco was a crispy deep fried seaweed coated with tempura with sushi rice, avocado, delicious sauce and the crispy deep fried Soft Shell Crab sitting on the top. All the flavours and texture worked sooo sooo well together. Will definitely be back for more. <br/><br/><br/><br/>

Had a lovely lunch with my cousin here. Loaded fries were delicious. Wonderful presentation of the crab taco but it was quite greasy and difficult to eat. Would’ve been nice to have more of the chili mayo on the bottom between the crab and the avocado. The so fried chicken burger was delicious. I think the only consistent thing that was lacking was sauce/mayo on everything. Great flavours but just needed more. But will be bringing others back to try more, maybe for dinner!

Visited this place during lunch on a Saturday. Highly recommend to book or else it may be difficult finding a table, we were lucky enough to get the final table without a booking.<br/>The only downside was the wait after ordering - it took around half an hour for our food to come out. But the quality of the food on a whole was good with decently sized portions.
Edmond Shen
The WFC Burger was pretty standard. Definitely would have been enhanced with abit more sauce. The chicken itself was surprisingly moist, which is always a nice surprise.<br/><br/>Definitely a place worth going, especially if you have zomato gold!
Abhi R
The five spices pork belly and duck curry were both outstanding. The place has a really good vibe and ambience. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. Can't wait to return here and try other dishes!

First restaurant we chose after purchasing zomato gold<br/>Bit of a disappointment, the waiting staff were very attentive and lovely, but the wait for 2 burgers n chips was longggg<br/>They were very busy with large groups so the wait was understandable<br/>When our burgers arrived they were very small and minimal for the price, tasty but minimal<br/>Having the 2 4 1 food due to the gold pass made up for our meals<br/>Also no napkins on the table, guess we could have asked for them
TY
We ordered a flat white, Vietnamese beef salad and fried chicken burger with added skinny fries<br/><br/>Pros:<br/>Food tasted good overall<br/>Coffee was great<br/>Cool interior<br/>Staff were all good<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>Serving size slightly small considering the price<br/>Food wasn't special in any particular way<br/>Not quite worth the price
Food2belly
The soft shell taco (7/10) was next level. A generous soft shell crab on a bed of rice and avocado all encased in a seaweed taco. The texture was amazing, smooth, creamy and crunchy. However, it didn't have much flavour, was just oil from the fried components, rice and avocado. Wish it had more sauce on it to cut the glutinous mouth feel. (Left-right) Wu Fried Chicken, amezas grilled eggplant (6/10) cooked well but very salty, bustek beef roll ups and one sided seared tuna (7/10). The tuna was cooked perfectly and green papaya salad was refreshing.

Staff were polite and friendly. Food came out in an incremented fashion but was tasty. Nice ambience and lots of parking nearby being located in the mt eden village.

Came in for dinner without booking and just had to wait at the bar for about 10 minutes for a table to become available. Grabbed the Rising Sun cocktail which as quite nice. The Bruce Lee cocktail was interesting, tasted like smoky chilli without the spice, almost like a Bloody Mary. Once we got a table we just moved our beverages across.<br/><br/>The menu is similar to the other Asian fusion places where its encouraged to share. We grabbed a bit from each section to try it out. We started with the grilled eggplant and the pork and Prawn Dumplings. Both were ok. The filling of the dumplings was a bit crumbly though.<br/><br/>Then came the Mr. Krabs Nori Taco and the Chicky Bao. The bao was nice but similar to other places. the taco was superb. Fried Nori as the taco shell and filled with rice, avocado and soft shell crab. Easily one of the best dishes on the night.<br/><br/>For mains, we had the duck curry and the pork belly, with a side of the sushi fries. The flavour of the curry was nice although the duck pieces were large chunks on the bone rather than pieces of meat. I found the pork belly a bit dry but the glaze on the bottom was quite sweet and nice. The sushi fries were a bit of a let down. The tempura over it was nice but the rice was bland so you needed to have some sort of sauce or dip on it. The sticky rice was also a bit off. It was almost like normal rice with a bit too much water since it was clumpy and really soft, not like proper sticky rice which should still have some texture to it.<br/><br/>The second best dish for me was the coconut panna cotta. The panna cotta just had a strong coconut flavour which I love. The palm syrup and fruits scatter over the top gave it extra flavour and textures. The bao nut was also quite nice, fairly close to a doughnut ice cream sandwich.<br/><br/>Service was great. Welcomed and were told about the seating situation fairly quickly. Moved over efficiently and ordered when we were ready. They also kept the water topped up and checked often without being too bothersome or rushing.<br/><br/>Food was alright but I would easily go back just for those tacos and panna cotta.

Finally tried out this place after seeing how aesthetic it looked and had heard great things about it! We were welcomed by friendly staff and were seated at a table that's in the middle of a walkway which was quite squished. However since there weren't too many people that day it was alright. The food wasn't bad but wouldn't say there was a WOW factor. The chicken burger was probably the best as the chicken as tender however the bun was a bit hard and stale. The fries were alright too.<br/>Warning : don't get the salad if you don't like spice! Their dressing is incredibly spicy and if you asked for it on the side, the salad would be too dry and tasteless. There wasn't enough meat in it either and it's just a huge clump of carrots amongst other veggies.<br/><br/>The atmosphere is definitely worth your while and they have a lovely outdoor setting for a nice brunch. Would recommend for those who have zomato gold otherwise you might find it's not entirely worth the price you pay.<br/><br/>Food 6.5/10<br/>Ambience 8/10<br/>Price 6.5/10<br/>Service 7/10

Delicious food and great service! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Wu and You. Staff were very friendly and gladly answered any questions we had. <br/>Food was fantastic, especially the seared market fish. Would definitely recommend this place!

With the current experience of this restaurant I was really keen to rate it a good score but I just couldn't. It’s like the American Idol contestant that’s so likeable and you hope they do well but then the song’s just not the business.<br/><br/>THE ENVIRONMENT (4.3/5)<br/><br/>Ok so the interior design and layout was probably one of the key highlight for me. With a nice relaxing area out the back and a decent breeze out front. A mid-range energy level with somewhat upbeat music. Later they had a musician play to add value to the experience. My only detractor for me was a space that was tight with the tables between the front and the back, that and we couldn't choose our spot (we did use first table).<br/><br/>THE SERVICE (4.5/5)<br/><br/>I must say, when we had our waitress she had great customer service, she was responsive, knew her product knowledge. She cracked a joke about how the crab is just sitting there which was funny, please pass on our thanks to her (didn't note her name but she had a South African accent).<br/><br/>FOOD (2/5)<br/><br/>With the decor, ambiance, customer service & my hopes for start-up businesses I was totally routing for some great dishes but sadly left quite disappointed.<br/><br/>Pork & Prawn Dumplings (3.5/5) - These were ok (I could be picky because I eat dumplings often), nothing amazing about them. The filling easily fell out of the dumplings here.<br/><br/>Sushi Fries (1/5) - Ok so all I have to say with this that the concept for me just didn't work. The texture just wasn't right and the thing about these fries is, unlike your standard potato fries, it just doesn't compliment the other dishes well. The sauce here is quite bland too. Adding the batter to this just made the whole thing too rich.<br/><br/>Papaya Salad (1/5) - With this score I might be biased as had just come back from Thailand the week before but this did not do the icon justice. The thing that makes Papaya Salad a lovable dish is it's sour, salty and sweet taste where I feel this dish may have missed the mark here. Although NZ does't have some of these spices fresh there are ways to do this justice. The ratio of veges was a bit off with more sprouts than papaya and a lot less sauce than usual.<br/><br/>Wu Fried Chicken (3.5/5) - Of the dishes this was probably my most liked. The chicken was cooked well and the batter had prime texture. My rating though is based on the fact that it was just above average in comparison to other places. Maybe if they explore some other spices they'd get a five from me on this.<br/><br/>Duck Red Curry (2/5) - Lacked flavor in the sauce, there was enough sauce though. The biggest pitful for me was the nerve to say the rice was sticky rice. It felt more like medium gran rice that had been cooked differently rather than glutinous rice.<br/><br/>Mr Krabs Taco (3.9/5) - This dish was well presented and tasted good too. My only contention with the dish was that the novelty of the aesthetic was prioritized over the taste and ingredients. As a taco the practicality and ratio of ingredients were somewhat off which meant flavors that were meant to go together to give you that woah factor missed the bus. Now if you had of re-designed the dish somehow in a rice bowl (although not as insta worthy) it would make a significant difference.<br/><br/>Pork Belly Bao (0/5) - To be honest I ate this more for the fact that I didn't want to be rude. This has to be the worst bao Iv'e had. The coriander was a bit overloaded which wasn't the problem for me because I love coriander. I can't say I'm specialized in bao but something about the bun wasn't hitting the mark for me. The pork belly seemed like it hadn't been slow cooked enough.... you want that belly to break apart and melt. The killer was the sauce, sour yet somehow so bland.<br/><br/>Overall it felt like this place had more of a priority of atheistic over taste. Although as a disclaimer, I suppose is that it really depends on their target audience as to whether they are on track or not and thus the risks with going fusion. With Asian cuisine, some western markets find the taste’s or flavours too strong so I wouldn’t be surprised if the restaurant was catering to this market. Although with a little refinement in sauces and flavour I really think this place has the potential to go further with retaining the Asian flavours.<br/><br/>WORTH IT?<br/><br/>If you are looking for amazing Instagram shots then yes. If you’re the type that likes places like Spicy house, Eden noodles, Pok Pok, Chinoiserie then def not. If you like places like Tuks & Bao then maybe. For me at the moment it’s a no. Wish this place all the best.
Randy
Cool interior decor. They play a weird audio in Chinese in the bathroom but somehow it works with the place :) Been here for bottomless brunch where I had the tofu burger which was very disappointing but the mocktail was delicious!! Hence 3 star rating.

Customer service, food, and restaurant decor is great. They also have a special Valentines Day special, which can be good for couples! <br/><br/>Food: Wish there more choices that involved less food being fried. The pork wrap was very tasty. The fried chicken in the chicky bao was lacking flavour and the texture of the NY cheesecake on a stick was a bit hard. Having said that I would be interested to come back and try out their other items.

Brought my parents there for dinner, and they love it~ The food is delicious~ We had the grilled eggplant, wagyu beef in betel leaves, beef hawker roll, duck red curry, seared tuna papaya salad, and the soft shell crab taco. All tastes great~ My favourite has to be the wagyu beef in betel leaves, full of flavour, and the papaya salad, very refreshing. The only downside is the place is not very spacious, and can be a little pricey, just a little...

It is not often that I give a 5/5 & I have a lot of favourite eateries. I do understand too that everyone’s expectations are different. <br/>I think what turned this from a 4 to a 5 was the amazing service from our waiter (Claire?). She clearly loves her job, and her friendly banter alongside her love for & knowledge of Wu & You makes for an awesome night out.<br/>Alongside the service we had delicious food, the favourites being the dumplings & eggplant. The crab looked & tasted great, and the pork was perfectly cooked. Sushi fries were nothing amazing, but a nice change to plain rice or fries.<br/>The cocktail menu was unique & delicious too - especially the foam. <br/>They have a small range of desserts but we were full, so it was onto the fortune cookies! They are rated R18, but weren’t offensive. They were so much tastier than the standard ‘vanilla’ with a berry flavour.<br/>Will be back & soon!

Loved the seating area at the back was nice and cosy. Stopped by for late lunch .Loved the chiky bao and the soft shell crab taco, just was not fan of the crispy sea weed taco base.Dessert was really nice and tried a few cocktails which were all great!Worth a try if you love Asian Fusion.

100% would come back again for the service, cocktails and the soft shell crab taco. The other dishes we ordered were ordinary. The sushi fries were recommended to us, but they were not enjoyable at all... Maybe if you added some furikake it would add some interest to this dish. The fried sichuan chicken, while plentiful, lacked any sichuan kick - could have passed as generic fried chicken. Then the tuna papaya salad - this was my bad. I saw papaya salad and instantly thought it was going be be drenched in nuoc cham but it wasn't. The menu said lime and chilli dressing so that's what we got (and it was pretty bland also very heavy on the bean sprouts).  There's another papaya salad on the menu with "thai dressing" - should have got that instead.

Their soft shell crab taco makes me visit Wu and Yu more than I care to mention. That and the fact that I haven’t had a bad dish yet. Staff are always super friendly and helpful which is always a deal breaker. Love this place :)

We had a very early dinner on the New Year Eve, trying to avoid crowdedness, but there were still a lot of customers flocking in after 6:30. There were good selections of wines & beers. The sharing plates were interesting & most of them were nicely prepared & cooked.  Mr.Krab's Nori taco, the green papaya salad & Himalayan salt slab cured market fish were my favourites. <br/>(Food - 4/5; Service - 4/5; Ambience - 3/5)<br/>Visited on 31 December 2018

Great staff, good food and nice ambiance. The staff was attentive and friendly. We tried the A’mezas grilled eggplant, Shiitake dumplings, Pork & prawn dumplings, Roti basket, Sushi fries, Wu fried chicken, Five Spiced Pork Belly and the ‘Little Tokyo’ Cheesecake on a stick. The eggplant, chicken and the cheesecake were our overall favourite. The menu are Asian fusion and they were well presented and good flavours with generous servings. Great dining experience and will definitely try the other food in the menu.
Alicia
Don’t get me wrong, the staff, the atmosphere and the drinks were delicious. However the food was very average, we arrived and got greeted by lovely staff who were very engaging and genuine, but then waited 30 minutes for our first dish to come out (which was fine we weren’t too hungry when we arrived). Then waited 45 minutes for the second dish to come out - by this time we were just going to leave without getting it as the first dish wasn’t too impressive. There was almost no taste to the fried chicken, the second dish was better but very sweet and rich - didn’t end up finishing. If you would love a place to have drinks - this place would be great! Lovely drinks and attentive staff! Food, maybe somewhere else.

A nice relatively new restaurant.<br/><br/>I would describe the food as fusion asian with dishes from a variety of asian countries. But overall it was good.<br/><br/>It has a casual but fun atmosphere in the restaurant. We were waiting for the menus before the wait staff told us it was on the table (the placement had the menu on the other side of it) and I thought that was pretty cool.
Nathalie
We came here for lunch and we had high hopes coming in as we have read good reviews on social media. The ambiance was nice and place was clean, wait staff were also attentive and friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes which were all presented well and good for Instagram but that's where it all stopped for us unfortunately. The beef hawker roll lacked any sauce to bring the whole thing together. The vietnamese salad had some freshness but dressing did not have any flavour (tasted bland). Dumplings were drier than the Sahara desert if you ask me and underseasoned. The Mr Crab sushi was very salty (although it looked very pretty and “hipster”). The only thing we found enjoyable were the chips with spicy mayo (sad I know). Overall felt like food were bland and it wasn’t Asian fusion at all (didn’t have any Asian inspired sauces and flavours). Disappointing to say the least as we were hopeful of tantalising our tastebuds... I see other reviews are very positive perhaps their dinner menu is better??

Yum!!!!! I have been wanting to go here for ages and I am so glad we finally did. We went for lunch and it was so good. The food was delicious and the staff were absolutely awesome! What great service. We went yesterday and I have already told so many people to go here. I can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu and all the yum cocktails they have. Good work Wu & You!!!<br/><br/>We had shitake dumplings, pork and prawn dumplings, Chinese pancakes, beef and pork hawker rolls, green papaya salad, Vietnamese beef salad and lattes on the rocks!<br/><br/>My favourite were the hawker rolls and the dumplings... Soooo good!!!!!!

What an awesome restaurant... The menu is fantastic..... The chicken was amazing, and so was the pork belly bao..... each dish was incredible in it's own right.... the staff were all target and our dinner was a pleasure. I can't recommend Wu & U highly enough

Absolutely loved the experience here! The menu has a different take to most asian fusion restaurants.<br/>I loved the idea of the soft shell crab taco and the poke taco. Definitely very insta-friendly.<br/><br/>You can get to try this on first tables too which is an added bonus. Will definitely come back to try more of the menu!

We booked for a group of 8 and would thoroughly recommend - we sat out in the courtyard out the back which was super cute and hipster. Cool lighting, painted walls etc. The food was absolutely delicious, soft shell crab taco was 💯 the fried chicken was SO GOOD! We also got the eggplant and the beef lettuce wraps which were both fresh and yum. One of the best meals I've had in ages, and the service was so good + really friendly and attentive. Thanks so much! A special night for my friend's birthday 😊

I booked online but mangled my booking, we were still able to get a table on a Tuesday night. I’m glad we came. It was my husband’s birthday and we certainly had a wonderful experience. We did order a lot for just 2. Everything was delicious, the food came in quick, hot and well presented and service superb. Thanks to Amika who waited on us. Triple yum.

Went for a bottomless brunch over the weekend.<br/>The service from the staff was amazing and the food was very good too! They had a very friendly vibe. I’d surely go back!!

Date night with hubby, visited Wu & Yu after reading excellent reviews.<br/><br/>We arrived around 7:30pm on a Tuesday, seated immediately. <br/>Staff are very attentive and friendly. Menu was explained really well.<br/><br/>We ordered for starters the:<br/>Pork & Prawn dumplings - 5/5<br/>Delicious and juicy. <br/><br/>Grilled Eggplant - 5/5<br/>Omg this was amazing. Full of flavour and just delicious!!! <br/><br/>Side basket of Roti - YUM !!<br/><br/>Hubby & I shared for a main:<br/>Five spiced pork belly 5/5<br/>This is a must get dish. It was so good that if I had room I would have ordered another, the Malaysian slaw was filled with flavour. The pork was soft and literally melted in your mouth. <br/>We’ve had so many bad experiences elsewhere where pork belly has been chewy and unsatisfactory. But this was just WOW !!<br/><br/>Finishing off with dessert:<br/>Cheesecake on a stick & the famous Wu fortune cookies.<br/>These were great as well. <br/><br/>I had such a hard time deciding what to eat because the menu looks so good. I’ll def be back to try everything I missed out on.<br/><br/>Thanks Wu & You for an all round great evening !!!

The staff are very friendly and helpful a great environment they create.<br/>Tried the beef hawker roll and the mr krab taco these are really good! The beef hawker is big portioned which is great!<br/>The eggplant isnt to bad either.<br/>The cheesecake on a stick is great at first<br/>But it does get very heavy towards the end<br/>A good idea to maybe share it :)

Finally made it to my new local and it exceeded all expectations! The wagyu beef, broccolini and eggplant were delicious but the highlight was the soft-shell crab taco! First of all it looked like a piece of art and secondly tasted delicious! My friend got the pork bao which she enjoyed but said was a little too spicy. Def wanna come back and try more of this awesome menu! Also the cocktails look amazing and the courtyard out back is so funky and has good vibes!

Went to dinner here with friends on a Friday night, the ambiance was cool and wait staff were attentive. I ordered the Teng Pao Fizz, Shitake Dumplings, Wu Fried Chicken, and Asam Laksa. My drink and entrees were delicious but the broth of the Asam Laksa was so salty, it was inedible. The waitress explained this Laksa wouldn't have a coconut broth and instead would be sour/tangy with a tamarind broth, which sounded delicious and I was really looking forward to it but it was just so salty. I ordered rice to try and balance the broth but just couldn't eat it. Really disappointing after paying $29 for it. I should have said something to the wait staff but no one asked how our food was after we'd received it, or when we went to pay the counter. Would recommend that staff ask this in future to get feedback on the food. A good spot for drinks and nibbles but maybe not for dinner.

Absolutely delish foods! Green papaya salad and pork belly are amazing. Grilled eggplant was yummy as well. Nice ambience and friendly and polite staff. Keep it up.

Came here for dinner. Usually not a fan of Fusion types of restaurants but this one made me have faith in the concept. The service is great, the place is good for groups and couples alike and it has a instagram worthy concept. Ordered the crab taco which was tasty and not as oily as expected. The tuna taco was equally as delicious and a great concept. The beef rendang was my favourite dish. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. I will definitely return again. The only criticism is the seemingly high price point, however you get what you pay for which is good food, good service in a good setting.

Went here for bottomless brunch and had a pretty good experience. The drinks weren’t as “following” as other places I’d been to for “bottomless brunch” and often drinks weren’t topped up until you’d finished your drink or signalled someone to come over. They have a one drink at a time type policy so even if you’re waiting for a drink to be made you can’t have another - kinda defeats the purpose of it being bottomless. Despite the drinks and service letting the place down a bit, the food was great!! Highly recommend the red curry (which isn’t red at all actually) but still packed with flavour. The atmosphere of the place is also very nice and great on a sunny day (in the outdoor area)<br/><br/>It is quite overpriced for what it is and there are other places that are just as good, at a more affordable price. If prices were cheaper and portions were slightly bigger this place would attract far more people.

The black and pink, asian fusion menu attracted my boyfriend and I to Wu & You for lunch this afternoon. On entering the cafe we were greeted with a very friendly and cheerful waitress, Leah, who (I think) was on her break, but was polite and hospitable enough to escort my boyfriend and myself to a table. She was extremely patient with us as chose our “perfect” table to sit at. By then we were already very impressed by Leah. After taking a good look at the menu, my boyfriend ordered eggs in toast, and I ordered the WFC ( akaWu Fried Chicken) Burger, with a side of loaded fries to share, and a flat white each. Once again Leah understood the order perfectly well and taught us how to pronounce “furikake”. My boyfriend’s food was the standard scrambled eggs on two slices of toast (you can choose how you want the eggs to be cooked). My burger, on the other hand, albeit contained enough fried chicken, it didn’t contain anything else part from a few strands of lettuce. The fries chicken in the burger was perfectly crunchy on the outside, and juicy and succulent on the inside. However, I really wish there was more to the burger than the bun, the chicken and a few strands of lettuce. Moreover, I really wish the loaded fries and my burger would have more sauce. Overall, 5/5 for the service, and 3.5/5 for the food.

Deeeeeelicious!<br/>Fantastic Asian fusion cuisine with very tasty cocktails. <br/>3 of us ate a huge feast! Our server was very friendly and made us feel very welcome!<br/>The oysters were very fresh and tasty. I don’t normally enjoy raw oysters but these had extra toppings that balanced the taste perfectly. I added some sriracha on top to make it extra delish.<br/>All the cocktails were great. 5/5<br/>The roti is crispy and buttery.<br/>Duck curry was slightly too salty but perfect with sticky rice and roti. <br/>Mister crab roll was very different - highly recommended.<br/>Lamb hawker roll was reaaaally good too.<br/>Wagyu beef wrap, DIY spring rolls, eggplant - all of these were delicious. <br/>Laksa slightly sour but still good.<br/><br/>Overall experience is definitely 5/5!

I give this place a 4 because of its great service. Staff is super attentive.and it's an enjoyable experience. Food is not bad. The fried crab is quite delicious. The dumplings are a bit too salty. The papaya salad is really nice though... Just need to lift the food up a notch to make this place a serious contender in the Auckland food scene.

Definitely the best restaurant at Mt Eden, sashimi and oyster were really fresh, Taco with rice super special but delicious, dumping and curry also pretty yummy. I was too full to try the dessert but I believe dessert must be good too. Will come back and try next week. Btw there service absolutely 5/5, Amika was really friendly.

The best restaurant on Mt Eden Road. <br/><br/>Amazing starters and delicious oysters. Everything made fresh and to perfection.<br/><br/>Pork crackling crunchy and paired well with puree sauces. <br/><br/>Sashimi with a tang and spice really wakes up the palate.<br/><br/>Tacos with avocado, kinda like a deep fried sushi but fresh. Amazing. Never thought I would like taco with rice. <br/><br/>The duck curry is top notch. Flavour to perfection. <br/><br/>Fried chicken pieces were very tasty too. Very enjoyable. <br/><br/>Everything was amazing. Just don’t order the laksa, it’s a bit too sour for my liking but it’s new to the menu so hopefully they change it or take it off soon.<br/><br/>A must try. My new favorite local restaurant!<br/><br/>Service: 5/5 Amika was super friendly<br/>Food Quality: 5/5<br/>Food Quantity: 5/5<br/>Environment: 4/5 (bit crammed if you have kids)<br/>Presentation: 5/5<br/>Price per person: $50-$100

Fantastic Asian fusion. Highlight for me was the eggplant. Nice vibe in the rear courtyard. Happy I'm local to this place. Will definitely be back. Great service too! Very polite waitress' and I love the pride they took in the food. Thanks a lot!

Rate it a 3.5/5.<br/><br/>The service is excellent. The waitress we had was friendly, attentive and efficient. We had a whole range of food from the menu and a few cocktails which was nice.<br/><br/>The food is served almost one after the other because the tables are so small. The fried chicken was crisp and flavoursome. I definitely recommend the fried chicken and the tuna poke taco. The taco was very filling and had an Asian twist to the popular Mexican treat. There was enough flavour and seasoning and was delicious.<br/><br/>The eggplant was good, I only wish the portion size was bigger. The fresh oysters were pretty tiny and skinny for $5 a pop. Well marinated but definitely not worth $5 for such a tiny oyster.<br/><br/>The one sided seared tuna lacked flavour and the so did the papaya salad. It was a good dining experience.

Went here on Saturday night for dinner and drinks. Was welcomed by friendly staff and quickly seated. Interior is quite cool, lots of wall art and neon signs <br/>We ordered a couple of things from Little guys and Big guys. Also got the Tuna Poke Taco. Tacos were amaaaazing we kept reordering! The papaya salad was very very bland. We had to ask for more sauce but still didn’t help. The curry was alright. Cocktails were very good! Service was a 5 star! Would probably go back just for cocktails and light nibbles.

Very recommend this place. This is my first time attend to this place to celebrate my friend birthday. The interior was classical style. The latte was big bowl taste good. I ordered chilli scramble egg very special taste.i am surprised that the staff sang the birthday song to my friend and write card .i feel very warm. Ending dessert was so amazing. Forzen cheese cake on stick miso caramel and cookie crumbs on top.<br/>

Updated review: <br/><br/>Went back to Wu and You for their new menu and this time for dinner so we ordered a lot more dishes to try. Props to our waitress Leah for being super friendly and the best part of the dining experience!<br/><br/>We ordered the sushi fries, papaya salad with seared tuna, Himalayan salt slab cured market fish (best dish!), a rice ball thing in sauce (forgot the actual dish name) shiitake dumplings (also pretty good), nori taco, cheesecake on a stick and raspberry bao nut. <br/><br/>A lot of the dishes were mostly just rice, either deep fried or with sauce which is not really worth the price. (Especially the sushi fries which literally was rice in batter). <br/><br/>I would however recommend the frose and the Himalayan salt slab cured market fish. The cheesecake on a stick was a bit frozen, best to leave it to defrost and the bao-nut was very very sweet. <br/><br/>

We came here for lunch and missed the brunch menu so ordered off the dinner menu. The wagyu beef was delicious as were the pork and shrimp dumplings and the kingfish sashimi. The DIY spring rolls would be nicer if the protein was warm but the satay is very yummy. The bok Choy was also delicious and had that smokey wok flavour. Very happy!!!

Chinese fusion eatery in Mt Eden, special decoration and outstanding plating give us the refreshing experience on dinning, the taste of the food is great, although the price is slightly high in regards to the portion. <br/>Worth to give it a try if you like something special and great atmosphere!
Emma
Came here for a late lunch just past 2pm. Server was nice and friendly and explained to us how the menu worked etc. We ordered the soft shell crab taco, chicken bao, sushi fries and tempura vegetables. The favourite was definitely the tempura vegetables which were beautiful cooked and lightly battered. The sushi fries were a bit underwhelming and it was hard to finish more than a couple each (although the sauce was decent). Soft shell crab taco was amazing, unwieldy to hold and eat but good nonetheless. The chicken bao was probably my favourite, soft fluffy bao with crunchy chicken. Definitely would like to come back for their 2 for 1 bao special from 4-6:30pm.

Had the most amazing service here tonight! My partner and I came for our anniversary and the staff were so nice!!! The best service I’ve had in a long time! The food and ambience was lovely. Will definitely be back. Thanks so much guys ☺️

Cool spot in mt eden, very interesting menu, every item is almost like a tasteful bite, it’s a good place to go if you want to taste variety. The decoration and interior set up is insane it looks amazing! However the price adds up in the end since it’s irresistible not to order so much!<br/><br/>Food- 9/10<br/>Service- 8.5/10<br/>Aesthetics- 10/10

Tried out Wu and You midweek a few weeks ago and we were impressed.  They have created an amazing atmosphere, we were seated in the courtyard area and on a cold evening it was fired up with heaters all around and the service was great, very attentive without being over the top.  We ordered the set meal as we were busy catching up with friends and didn't want to spend time looking through an unfamiliar menu, this paid off as we had food we would never have ordered ourselves, a great variety and decent sized portions.  The place was pretty busy even during the week and we went late so booking is essential.  A great addition to the village and very different - we shall return!

First time we tried to dine here in April, it was so crowded that we couldn't even set foot inside the door. This time, we managed to get seats. They take reservations now fyi! We tried the 'a'mezas' grilled eggplant, bulgogi bao, Mr. Krab's nori taco and the sushi fries..the softshell crab taco was amazing! Eat it while its still hot! The coconut sauce they drizzle on it, the guacamole and deep fried seaweed goes so well..the bao was soft and fluffy, meat was really tender..i would have liked a bit more flavour but it was not bad.. The manager, Nixon and waitstaff, Anna were super attentive. They kept checking in after we have eaten each item for feedback, to fill our water glasses or take our orders. Kudos on the improvements. Sorry my pictures do not do justice to the crab

Wu & You.. Wow. We are impressed! My friend and I dinned here for dinner on a Saturday night and really enjoyed our visit. We booked a few days before as we weren’t sure how busy they would be. If time permits, I’d recommend securing a table in advance if your planning to dine in during peak times. The service was fantastic and hats off to lovely Leah for taking such good care of us. She was a pleasure to deal with and we couldn’t have asked for better! Considering how busy they were, unlike some places it did not effect their standard of service.<br/> <br/>Love the look and feel of this restaurant! Colourful and creative with plenty of character that really compliments their Asian fusion flair. Their graphic design and illustrations were also a step up from other restaurants in their field.<br/> <br/>After Leah explained the menu to us we decided to go with her recommendations. The Mr Krab’s Nori taco is a must! We’d both agree it’s more of a sushi style taco (anything but Mexican!) and a great addition to the food scene. Tempura soft shell crab, sushi rice and guacamole wrapped in a fried nori sheet, its perfect for sushi / soft shell crab lovers. The sushi fries were also new to us and worth a try – that creamy spicy sauce was delicious. Fried chicken seems to be everywhere at the moment but Wu & You did it justice. Served piping hot, the chicken was crispy, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. We can’t forget the dipping sauce either - kaffir lime mayo, a match made in heaven.<br/><br/>As for the cocktails! You’ll be spoilt for choice with their long list of running combos. The Jackie Chan cocktail was the winner for me - gin, fresh grapefruit juice, honey and lemon topped with green tea and apple foam... yum! 👌🏼<br/><br/>If your yet to try Wu & You, your missing out and it’s one place worth the visit! Cant wait to dine in again to try out their brunch menu and their drool worthy desserts - little Tokyo cheesecake on a stick and the raspberry bao-nut to name a few 🤤🤤

Crab taco! Need I say more! <br/><br/>Went there last night (may have had a few), ordered this random item off the menu and WOW!! Recommend!!<br/><br/>(Also, seriously, check out the decor and pink coffee machine!!)<br/>

Such a vibrant little eatery which stands out from the crowd. Amazing food and atmosphere and takes you away as soon as you set foot in the door. Can't wait to get back there for another bite and cheeky cocktail!

Very poor. Food is average one of those try hard fusion places that does not hit the spot. The service was excellent but not good enough to get over the average food. ........

Amazing staff, food, drinks, ambience with those amazing neon lights..so good, will definitely recommend you to try crab taco and Jackie Chan, you shouldn't miss those two, will definitely be back.

Amazing food and so unique. If you are looking for great sharing dishes and to die for desserts then this is your place. Loved it... will definately be back.

Didn’t even know that they’ve only opened for two months but wow! Food was everything, had the Schniitty chicken bao and seriously, the best Bao I’ve had so far. Had some starters (Shittake dumplings) that were so delicious, great for Vegetarians; highly recommend the Jackie Chan cocktail and the desserts didn’t disappoint at all, instead it made the experience JUST THE BEST Nd topped an awesome night! Service was above standard. <br/><br/>Only one thing that I wish that could be a lil better was where we were seated but they were busy so that tells how good they are!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Wu and You, one of Mount Eden’s newest offerings is a worthwhile eat! The Hawker Roll hit the spot as well as the Nori Taco. Nice and varied selection of cocktails. For dessert the Golden Gaytime Paddle Pop was to die for - rich but amazing! Will be coming back!

Mt Eden has a new kid on the block, chinese-fusion ‘Wu & You’. It carries a lot of spunk with its vibrant wall art, neon lights and inventive menu. Consider it perhaps the cooler younger sister of ‘White & Wongs’ — if you love bao, dumplings and curry with a teeny splash of cultural appropriation (yes, that was a dig), you’ve come to the right place. In all seriousness though, we loved the trendy vibes, and the beautiful attention that they put to their food — the seared tuna, served on a pink slab of Himalayan Salt, was a feast for the senses. And sushi-rice-fries — why hasn’t anybody thought of that yet? Fun, so fun. We’ll be back to try their cocktails for sure!<br/>Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/wu-and-you

We had dinner here last night and really enjoyed it.  The staff were friendly and prompt and the food was great.  We shared some 'Little Guy' plates....HIMALAYAN SALT SLAB CURED MARKET FISHDelicious!  Totally not what we were expecting, the presentation was fabulous. <br/>OCTOPUS DOUGHNUTS <br/>These were nice, but I admit husband ate them.... I can't really eat that much 'dough'!  My problem not Wu's.  He liked them, but don't think we would order again.<br/>WAGYU BEEF BETEL LEAVESThese were really great!  We had never tried 'Betal Leaves' so that was fun.  Beef was so tender.  <br/>MIANG OF SPANNER CRABAgain, really tasty.  Pretty presentation.<br/>All of the plates were reasonably priced for what we got and seriously we were stuffed full!  We were half outside but warm as toast with heaters going.  Absolutely love the humour on the menu and the complimentary fortune cookies were a lovely touch '#Wu says I cannot help you, I am a cookie'<br/>We will be back.

Wu and you is this place I keep coming back for more every couple of weeks, or more, because I just can’t get enough. <br/>Inside looks stunning, all these neon lights going on and the decor in the outside area is just great. <br/>Every single dish is studied and balanced in flavors. From the betel leaves wraps , the fantastic taco and my favorite rendano hawker. <br/>The drinks are at a great price and have great names. On top of it they are so well presented! <br/>I never leave without having the golden gay-time paddle pop , frozen cheesecake on a stick? Yes please! <br/>

Had dinner here last night with 3 friends, was going to post this then but got a little wobbly - dam cocktails... :)<br/><br/>I've been here a few times, by myself, with a friend and a group of people. Last night everything was as good as always.<br/><br/>I normally have the duck curry but this time we ordered 5 dishes and went for it. Crispy chicken, bang bang chicken salad, deep fried taco x2 and duck curry. Everything was fantastic!<br/><br/>We finished with 3 dessert one of which was the golden gaytime paddle pop - you have to eat one of these!<br/><br/>I'm not going to mention the cocktails as my head is still hurting but they rock!<br/><br/>Thanks Wu for another great night.

Me and my partner went to wu&you with friends . The atmosphere is great , love the decorations and art in the restaurant. Food is very arty and definitely add kiwi factor to the food . I think that is the best part about the Asian fusion . The place is busy but the staffs are very attentive. <br/>Dessert is rich for me , but good for sharing . Good place for after work catch up and Friday night out . <br/><br/>Would be back again !

Always love to dine out and the opportunity to try new local eateries. Wu & You did not disappoint. <br/>It was busy when we first arrived but that didn’t bother me as there were plenty of cocktails to choose from….<br/><br/>As usual - my eyes bigger than my belly I over ordered, only because I wanted to try so many things. My favourite dish was the Jungle Curry with just the right amount of heat, and that beautiful sticky rice to soak up all the sauce. I enjoyed the DIY pancakes however next time I would substitute the tofu for something else as I’m not a fan. <br/><br/>DESSERT – I couldn’t resist the Golden Gaytime Paddle Pop. Not a huge fan of the name but it was AMAZING! I don’t share my desserts so I got to have it all to myself.<br/><br/>Great overall experience and the staff are super friendly.

A few of us were lucky enough to be invited to the first day of wu and You opening in the Mt Eden Village as we alway support our village and eat out there often. <br/>What a fab new concept for the street, vibrant and upbeat with a decor and layout that is totally new to this part of town we all loved it!<br/>We enjoyed awesome cocktails and were offered a selection of their signature dishes to taste and asked to give some feedback. The food was good but as first night may have needed some adjustments as always in a new start. All in all a great night!<br/>We decided a group of eight of us go back a few weeks later and I have to say what a great job Wu is doing ! very busy we had to wait for a table but just for ten minutes or so which gave us time to enjoy same yum cocktails at the bar we had had before and before long were seated and enjoying a mixture of all their food between us and liked it all - only warning share the desserts they are so rich and decadent one person can’t handle!! Good staff friendly and efficient this night so getting into the swing of this new fun place to eat. <br/>If you in are mt Eden and want something different from our usual haunts I recommend 👍
Gyarri20
I went with my friends last night cause we heard so much about this eatery. We liked the way the staff explained about the menu. We didn’t need to wait for food, came quickly and delicious with the really friendly staffs. <br/>I would highly recommend to visit at least once.

We checked out the latest Mt Eden offering Wu and You. The menu is Asian fusion with a great cocktail selection. We shared the fried chicken and pork cracklings. The chicken was great the pork wasn’t what I expected. It was more like pork chips but still tasty. We each got a taco, my friend the crab one which is a speciality and I had the beef redang taco. Mine was delicious! For dessert we had the golden gaytime which was chocolate covered cheesecake. So good but pretty rich so definitely for sharing!
Mrs Little Flower
Beautiful environment! Food so delicious and on point. Service, friendly as but full on but attentive so really can’t complain with that! Totally a place to take a group of friends for a drink and snacks. 👍🍷 great to have some new restaurants in Mt Eden!

Wow we loved it! Great decor, excellent service and fantastic food. We will definitely be back soon. Great new addition to mount Eden village!

Amazing new asian fusion restaurant in Mount Eden Village. We went for lunch this week and loved what we had so far. Mr. Crab's Taco was indeed 100% epic and insta-worthy. They have this really cool courtyard at the back. Well done in keeping it warm and cozy on this crazy cold auckland weather! Highly recommended!

My first experience in Wu & You was great. The place reminded me of a really hip & vibrant spot that I could let my hair down and have some fun. The cocktail menu had a great variety to try and I started off with the Teng Pao Fizz as recommended by the Barman, it was easy to drink and just the right sweetness to start. The menu has a great selection, all dishes as unique as each other. I was really intrigued to try the kingfish salt slab, so glad I did, it was light and fresh. The Bang Bang chicken was really tasty too. On the Loners menu I had a Schnitty Bao, the crunchiness of the chicken with the soft bao was a delight. To finish off I had the golden gaytime paddle pop, I’m a sucker for cheese cake and chocolate so this was definetely a highlight for me. Overall a great meal, Look forward to going back.

First time going to Wu & You and i was very impressed at how it looked and the vibes it gave off. When you sit down the waiters were very friendly and offered me drinks. When i saw the menu there was sooooo many things i wanted try, each dish i ordered, i was happy with and no problem at all but while you are waiting for the food, you are too busy checking out the artwork and trendy interiors in the restaurant. My favourite food in the menu would be the schnitty bao, scud city jungle curry and to finish it off (desert) i loved the strawberry bao nut and golden gay time paddle pop. Overall i really had such a good experience and i will definitely be back to finish the menu 💪💪 and repeat.

Wow this place is so cool! I wish I had taken photos inside but I was too busy taking in the atmosphere. When we walked in we were welcomed by a very friendly waitress who looked after our table all night. I tried two of the cocktails (the rising sun= delicious) and we ordered a selection of dishes for the table. All of the food was great (my favourites were the betel leaves and a giant crab taco!) and then for desert I had a strawberry donut bun which was next level delicious! You have to check this place out especially when it gets dark because the lights and neon look so cool. When we were leaving we had a quick walk around the place and saw they have a courtyard area out the back which would be a perfect spot to sit with a group of friends! Will definitely be back soon

Amazing decor, great food. Staff very hospitable.<br/><br/>Wagyu beef and paddle pop are fantastic! <br/><br/>Salt slab is something else 🙌<br/><br/>Sake Negoni epic!

We went to this place late afternoon For lunch,. We ordered a variety of dished from the crab taco, market fish on salt slab, the fish curry, crab starters, soba salmon noodles. The food was very average, there were fruit flies at the back area which was slightly annoying. The wait staff was amazing but the recipes and flavours were average at best. Pricewise the place is way over priced for the quality and quantity if food. In short one of those try hard fusion places that just missed the spot! Won't go back here but it was an okay one time experience
Varsha Paul
Looks good, fantastic fit out however there needs<br/>to be some improvement on the value for money aspect, portion sizes and waiting time for meals.<br/>Will visit again to give it another chance as we did visit in their opening week<br/>A shame, as it has so much potential
Rosemary Cook
Amazing food and great ambience. This place was really busy on a Saturday night and we thought we would have a long wait before we were seated but the lovely hostess was very accommodating and managed to find us a table. We ordered the soft shell crab taco, the spanner crab and monkfish jungle curry. Absolutely delicious and highly recommend both. The cocktails are great too. Reasonably priced meal and decent portions. Highly recommend this place and looking forward to our next visit!

A newly opened asian fusion in Mt Eden that adopts a Chinese culture. The interior does look flashy and entertaining with a nicely decorated bar. It should be a 3.5 rating. The Filipino waitress was very helpful and attentive. Price came down to $65 in the end.<br/><br/>Between 2, we got the pork & shrimp dumplings, chicken bao, pork scratchings, soft shell crab taco, and green tea noodles with salmon. <br/>Pork & shrimp dumplings - though freshly steamed, the skin was a bit hard and the flavor was okay. I still prefer the Chinese yumcha places for these dumplings. It’s also pretty overpriced as it’s 4 dumplings for $12. <br/>Chicken Bao - flavorful and the chicken was also very hot and tender. The sauce contains a light texture which is a mixture of mayo and something light that made the bao more exciting.<br/>Pork scratchings - the pork scratchings has a strong taste of Sichuan pepper, the skin was very crispy, but on the inside, it had something that was very very hard to chew which put me off.<br/>Soft shell crab taco - literally a whole deep fried crab that was soft and I could eat the whole thing. The seaweed taco was also a fantastic idea. The only downside for this dish was that it was very hard to eat as it was so big so you don’t know where to start. But in terms of flavor, it was pretty good; more like soft shell sushi crab.<br/>Green tea noodles with salmon - this was the most flavorful, yet light tasting dish we ordered. The cold noodles with a sour and Sichuan peppery taste brought the appetite alive and rinsed all the oily dishes we ate. The salmon was also nicely cooked and seasoned. The mint leaves and vegetables added the extra crunchy texture and freshness that was needed. <br/><br/>Taste - 7/10<br/>Size - 8/10<br/>Price - 7/10<br/>Service - 9/10<br/>Ambience - 8/10

By 7pm this newish restaurant on the block was full on a Friday night. Great ambience for a local. An extra point for the staff. They were so lovely and attentive. <br/>Really loved Sashimi pizza, fried chicken and the deserts. Bang Bang salad was soggy. Wouldn’t order this one again. <br/>Meals on the small side. <br/>Lovely to see Mt Eden Village alive and buzzing.

Heard so much about it, thought we should give it a go. Went there on a rainy night, it was so busy, so we sat at the bar. Service was very great, cocktail was nice. We ordered 4 dishes and 2 drinks, costed around $80. <br/>Miang of Spanner Crab was a total miss, flavour n texture both not well executed. The Papaya Salad was the best out of what we have tried, good flavours. Beef Rendang Hawker Roll was nice, but then you can have similar ones else where.

Wu and You was buzzing with expectant diners on the evening that we visited. We were a group of 5 and chose to share 6 dishes. The highlights were the octopus doughnuts, the dumplings and the roti. In spite of the restaurant bursting at the seams, our meals came out pretty quickly. Getting our drinks refilled was a bit more problematic, and we had to ask a few times. Asian street-food styled dishes are all the rage in Auckland. Wu and You is a good addition to the range of eateries doing this. Definitely worth a visit.<br/>

Overall a good experience, friendly staff, prompt service and nice food.<br/><br/>Food: Good wide selection of modern Asian cuisine, although the food sizes are quite small. It was recommended to have 4 of the small plates plus 2 large plates plus 1 to 2 sides. This isn't the issue, it would be the total cost that would be. The small plates are around $15 each so you're up for about $150 for two people just in food. The food is nice though and will presented.<br/><br/>Service: Service was friendly from all the staff and certainly prompt. Food delivery was even quicker. The staff were excellent in stating that the food delivery would be random and delivered as made. Nice quirky detail in the bill was delivered to the table in an envelope that had "The Damage" printed on the front...<br/><br/>Ambience: The restaurant was full and tables are allocated as available. Nice decor and warm to even out the back in the courtyard.

Trending Alert: Another new Asian fusion restaurant has popped up in the Auckland food scene, situated on Mt Eden Road, Wu & You. How can you not be sucked into visiting a place who makes a soft shell crab taco, where the whole taco is tempura fried. Very recently opened, I think they are still finding their feet, as there is great concept but execution isn’t 100% there yet. Lets break it down:
Gawan Bakshi
The service, presentation and ambience is great. The food is very average for the amount of money you pay. Staff are very polite and helpful.

Went there with 4 friends on a Friday evening. Ambience and fit out is very nice. Service was also very attentive. But the food is an extreme let down. Seems like the chefs have no clue how to make Asian food. I almost felt I cud do a better job in the kitchen myself. Crab taco was way too hard n crispy and lacked any flavour just all deep fried taste. Chicken salad was just bland. Jungle curry is not spicy and barely had any chicken. Bao was rubbery. Overall the value for money is very poor and portions are ridiculously small for the cost. Highly recommend you avoid.

This is my new fave! so much flavor great twist on dishes. sushi fries are fantastic! also had kingfish on salt slab...great! fried chicken is awesome, the only thing lacking flavor was the octopus balls. will be back for sure

We really wanted to like this place.<br/> The staff were great and decor are excellent  but the food was bland.<br/> We shared the Pork Scratchings, the Green Papaya Salad,  a Jungle Curry with 1 roti and extra rice .<br/>  I  always love a curry, rice and roti but not here, not at Wu and You.

Lovely staff. I was cold, they gave me a blanket. They do not sell tea or coffee but offered to get me one from a neighbouring store. I have no idea why they do not have tea or coffee. They have a great cocktail list, and average wine/beer list and a few sodas. But no tea or coffee?<br/><br/>I enjoyed my food. If my eating companion had been more hungry I would have tried more items. I liked that the shared plates had 4 pieces and that you could but single portions of some items.<br/><br/>The food is Asian Fusion. And by that I mean the generic Kiwi palate Asian because, I don't know. Do restaurant owners think people only like their food deep fried, with mayonnaise, soy sauce and no real flavour?<br/><br/>This means I found the flavours lacked punch and at the same time lacked subtlety and any layering.<br/>Auckland has a number of these Asian Fusion places popping up with great decor and intriguing sounding items on the menu but ultimately I leave wanted to taste something more...and wishing I had gone to Cocoro or Small Fry.<br/><br/>Wu and You does the cutest bill I have ever encountered. A pink envelope entitled: the damage. And the fortune cookie was clever.<br/><br/>

Staff was great and the place looks the part; food was yay and nay, some plates definitely overpriced. The cocktail I had was a bit too sweet for my taste, but overall the service was good and we enjoyed our night out.

Very unimpressed went in for a quick bite after work seeing the place heaving during the week.  Love the decor however on the occasion I went in wait staff were very poor and inattentive. A few smiles and acknowledgement would have gone a long way being there was only three of us in the restaurant. Spent about five minutes looking for menu which is underneath the placemat and several staff could have mentioned to me when I sat down. Also needed my name for table which seemed a bit of an odd system. I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls or chinese style pancake and the wait staff could have asked if I had eaten a similar meal before and explained how to eat it as it might not be familiar to everyone. One of the wait staff asked if I was wanting to order anymore food when I responded no she took away my plate that I had not finished eating. This basically summed up my experience so many basic elements of good service just not done. My meal was nice but nothing spectacular and I think if I was after a proper dinner I would have left hungry. Not somewhere I would return to in a hurry.

Left hungry. Was really excited to try our new local restaurant but we left disappointed. <br/>We had the shiitake dumplings which were tasty but tiny. Fried chicken was a rip off for $18, then we ordered the beef leaves - $15 and got 3 tiny portions the serving size of the beef was a small tablespoon. Unbelievable it cost $15. We left hungry and felt ripped off. We even said to the waitress as we were paying that we were still hungry and were going over the road to better burger for second dinner, to which she said 'better burger is great'.... Facepalm.

Great staff service butttt they had other staff still setting up and cleaning windows with spray stuff right through our one hour there.  We had four entrees and based on these (plus the ongoing cleaning when they were supposed to be open) did not order mains - we went elsewhere.  We had the Kingfish cerviche (niceish), shitake dumplings (sooooo salty and we like salt), and two bettle leaf dishes.  The leaves were old, not in great condition, horrible to eat and the contents did not taste of much at all.  Indeed the 'shredded beef cheeks' was anything but what you would hope for or expect.  It was nottttt shredded beef cheek.  The mian of crab was flavourless!  We had much nicer bettle leaves at the next place we went too 30 mins later - fresh, green and with flavours that worked well with bettle leaves.  See my reviews and you will know...

Great decor and great staff.  We had the pork and shrimp dumplings (4 for $12) which were ok, the octopus donuts (more dough than octopus), the Wu fried chicken (great taste but small size for $18).  The crab taco was tasty.  Didn't much care for the vegetarian spring rolls/pancakes (they were a bit bland).   Overall this could be a great place but some of the dishes are not good value for money, particularly the chicken at $18 for 6 small mouthfuls.  I used my phone to view the menu as ours had been taken away  and ordered the Beef rendang sliders from the menu on their website (which one would think is up to date as this place is new), but the sliders do not exist and we received the Rendang roti which to be fair was tasty but we don't like roti.  They offered to cancel the dish but wonder why the menu on-line is not quite the same as the menu in the restaurant.    The price of these dishes adds up quickly and overall we did not think it was great value for money.

Came for a date night, had the oysters, king fish, duck curry, tuna salad and the tuna pizza.all the food was amazing portions weren’t the biggest left hungry but the food tasted good so that’s the main thing will come back<br/>And definitely order the tuna pizza again

Overpriced, walked out feeling a little ripped off. However, the decor was pretty awesome and the staff were super friendly. I hope this place rethinks their prices and portion sizes as I believe it has great potential.

Every foodie and her aunt is trying to get a table at this place. Wu and You has been open for exactly 1 week and they are completely inundated with people trying to nab a table. I think the aim is for them to take bookings via their website but at the moment that option is unavailable due to the number of people trying to book. Same goes for phoning, it just keeps ringing and ringing, so your best bet is to show up and wait for a table, and the earlier you get there the better. Luckily my friend and I got seated straight away when we walked in before 6.30pm on a Tuesday, albeit at the bar but it quickly got very packed and a line of people on the waiting list started to form outside.<br/><br/>Onto the food - between 2 we got the octopus donuts, sushi fries and tuna pizza to share, then a taco each. Octopus donuts were a bit of a letdown, it was more doughy and deep fried than I expected with not a lot of octopus to be tasted. The sushi fries were a cool concept, very similar to polenta chips and the dipping sauce it came with was delicious, totally could've had more of that! The flavours in the tuna sashimi pizza was perfect - fresh tuna plus a delicious guacamole and mayo with the shiso, but the base was plain and was more of a dry cracker. The soft shell crab taco was everything I expected - tasted good as well as visually appealing. The little cardboard container it came in is super cute, perfect for the gram. My only critique was that it needed a bit more sauce or guac to balance out the deep fried component of it.<br/><br/>By this point I was already extremely full, especially after it had turned out almost everything we ordered was deep fried, but we soldiered on and got a golden gay time paddle pop...each. It looked beautiful on the plating and tasted devine, luscious and rich as a cheesecake should be.<br/><br/>Service was a little disjointed but the guys are doing great considering how busy they are. They could probably do with more than 1 paying station or perhaps moving it to an area not in the walkway between tables and the bar. The restaurant itself looks absolutely amazing with neon lights and cool mural paintings on the wall. I'm excited to come back to check out the bigger plates once the hype has died down a bit!

Brand new fusion eatery, when I saw the pictures, descriptions and menu I HAD to try this place ASAP!! The WHOLE vibe is almost exactly identical to my fav place in Melbourne, Mister Miyagi. From the street art decor, pink neon lights, cocktail menu and food items.<br/>First things first, ambience isn't all bad, very creative, they did well for a small space - just wait one more week for their roof to be installed in the section out back and im sure it would be a nice cozy courtyard.<br/>Staff wise, all very friendly however we found multiple waitresses constantly coming to the table to ask the same things. (Would be much better if they had an assigned section each). Another thing, we called ahead to try and book a table and were informed they didn't take bookings, when we arrived they asked if we had a booking as it was full. However other than that, the service was great, very attentive and helpful.<br/><br/>Okay, the part we are all waiting for, the food!!!<br/>Have to say, I didn't have high expectations as it looked too good to be true. I was luckily pleasantly surprised! We ordered enough food for 5 of us so we able to try a large range of items. We actually ordered everything but the bao from the 'loner' menu. Have to say, the Mr Krab nori Taco was delish! Initially ordered one to taste and in the end got one each. Second best item was the Beef rendang wrap. Now my family is from Malaysia and we have tried our fair share of rendang in NZ in the last 25 yrs - we all agreed this is the closest taste of Malaysia we have found! Yum yum yum.<br/>We ordered a few other items, the salmon Taco, Wu fried chicken, green papaya salad with tuna, sushi fries, pork short rib, duck curry and spanner crab. All but 2 of which were absolutely delightful, the sushi fries was deep fried sushi rice sticks with a spicy Mayo - sounds a little mundane, however this is the biggest surprise of the meal, deep fried to perfection and a great pairing with the sauce.<br/>The Miang of spanner crab and Duck curry were the 2 less impressive dishes. The crab turned out to be fairly mild compared to the description on the menu - won't be ordering that again. The duck curry was so so sooooo close to being a great dish!! The duck was cooked perfectly, off the bone and juicy and the duck curry with Eggplant and beans - who knew that would be such a great hit! Unfortunately the only important aspect which let the dish down was the curry sauce. All we could taste was the over powering cinnamon - once they get the curry sauce right, this is a winning dish and I could be licking the bottom of the bowl.<br/><br/>All in all a fun experience, just a couple of teething issues they need to sort out and this will be my new fav weekend regular.<br/><br/>Ambience : 4.0/5<br/>Food : 3.8/5<br/>Service : 4/5<br/>Price : 4/5<br/>Overall rating : 3.8/5

You guys need to increase your portion sizes! Had the Bang Bang Chicken Salad fot $26 and it was a quater of what should have been the decent sized portion as it was part of the "Bigger Guys" menu. C'mon guys..give people value for their money :((

I really wanted to like this place! <br/>I love anything asian fusion but this was just disappointing. <br/><br/>The services and the decor was 10/10. Lots of beautiful art work all around the place and definitely the best service I’ve had in a long time. <br/><br/>However when it came to the food, every plate was bland. The dumplings were very rubbery and had very little filling. <br/>The sushi fries were a total miss. It was rice deep fried, no flavouring or anything, it tasted really buttery & not in a good way. <br/>$18 for 5 pieces of fried chicken is just a no, the fried chicken was beyond bland, it has no seasoning, it was definitely not enough to share even tho it’s advertised as a sharing plate. <br/>My bun was okay. It was more of a mini bun again no seasoning. <br/>Lastly the octopus donuts, I don’t do octopus but I tried one bite and it was the only thing that had somewhat flavour. <br/><br/>Way too expensive to leave this unsatisfied and still hungry. <br/><br/><br/>

On Tuesday night, I was invited to the opening of a new restaurant in Mt Eden Village, namely Wu & You. It was a fantastic night, thanks to the mouthwatering food, cocktails, ambience and service.
