Review The Claddagh Irish Pub - Auckland Central

Young Natano
Hidden Gem in New Market The staff and food are amazing. Bar manager always makes you feel welcome. I've been there twice for one a sports meets.and the other for a work function. If you want good food and a good atmosphere to have a few cold ones I would highly recommend them 💯 percent oh burgers and curry chicken and fish bites 😋

Hard to find but well worth the visit.. beat old pub that used to be a brewery. Try their Steak & Guinness pie, yum!

Spectacular bar to go to with friends. It's my favorite bar in Auckland. The service is excellent; you'll always be greeted with a smile and great kindness. The prices are superb, and you can even play pool for just two dollars. Cris, the bartender, is always ready to assist you and always provides the best service. I've been there several times, and it's always been fantastic. Chef Jeet, on the other hand, is equally kind and possesses outstanding culinary skills. Without a doubt, it's the best bar. 100% recommended

Great place for a large group of people. Their private room is very spacious not too crowded. Service was great and thanks to the lovely lady who look after us, she’s awesome!

Great staff looking to help you feel comfortable in the cosy space. Have had a business function and the odd beers on an evening and the team and environment are always great. Definitely recommend going to the Claddagh for any occasion. Appreciate the team that make it so good!

Great little pub tucked away in Newmarket. Great drinks. Shame they are not allowed a real fire anymore as having an Irish stew and Guiness in front of a warm fire in winter with Celtic music playing is wonderful . Still a wonderful place though with great staff.

Great little Irish Pub tucked away down a side alley in Newmarket. It was the perfect stop for a restful lunch and drink after shopping up a storm at the Newmarket mall. Great, friendly service. Meals were fantastic and reasonably priced. We enjoyed steak and the special of the day Beef Thai Salad. Will definitely stop in again!

Amazing place @ Newmarket. Best guinness in town. 1st Wednesdays and the boys club we always there.

Its hidden, its loud, it's old, the foods typical pub fare. Pizzas are stock brought bases. But there is hidden spaces and comfy nooks. It's the nostalgic pub you goto just for the feel and the people. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful old fashioned Irish pub nestled in an alley basically. Even better for a few tables outback with big brollies to get shade, but inside has that rustic pub feel with comfy chairs to seats at the bar. Food was delicious too from clam chowder to meats.

Nice place to have a beer. Pretty old and quaint but relaxed and friendly. Guiness was excellent 👍

It was st Patrick's day and place as you can imagine was simply buzzing. There was a live band, just two guys who were dishing out some good music. The fair amount of standing seating and dancing space indoors, there was also quite a large outdoor area as well.

Went on a Tuesday, quiet. But great staff and very Friendly. Had chips and garlic bread snacks, they came at different times🥺😞

Great spot for a cheeky pint and a chill atmosphere. Been popping in here for years and it's never changed, in a good way. Feels like "your local" even though it's in the middle of the city surrounded by fancy shops. If you're lucky the bartender will have his dog there and you will make a 4-legged friend too.

Great Guinness, great food and great service. We absolutely loved it and will be back soon.

Just your regular run down looking pub, with squeaky wooden chairs, solid wooden well used table that you could dance on... It was great, nothing fancy at all but what an atmosphere and the bartenders had Irish accents. Went with work colleagues for after work drinks. Loud noisy has a pool table and you'd expect an Irish brawl at some stage but just great fun and cold cider or beer. Would go again.. Maybe on St Pats day.

The staff are so much more friendly than those pricks at O'Hagans - Love this pub, in a nice hidden spot, real Irish feel style type of pub, brings back memories of my time in Ireland.
Hu Beer
Love this place. More than a pub they also make their own beer and cider. The pale ale is one of the best I've ever had.
Kylie Burrowes
Loved it! Had a true Irish pub atmosphere. Food was devine and the staff friendly and helpful. Great little hidden treasure alright!

Need to look for this place as it's down a sidestreet. Wednesday night quiz was a laugh and obviously popular as the place was really packed. Didn't eat, but kitchen was busy and portions looked generous. Craft beer may not be to everyone's choice but what we had was great. Handy garden out the back, just the ticket for the outcast smokers!

Great little irish pub, all are really friendly & helpful.

One of the best pints of Guinness in town and by far the best curry chips. Awesome pub

Handy little pub but a little off the beaten track in Newmarket Auckland. On the way out of town almost under the flyover. Down a side turning look out for the sign. Brews own craft beers which is a plus although the pilsner which was cloudy and I shouldn't have drunk 5 of them left me with a mild dose of dysentary the following day. Far worse beers have bowled me over. My own fault really for being a pig. Place does half decent food and shows sports. Some of the locals got the hump and left half way thru when SA gave NZ a thrashing at 20/20 cricket. Would happily visit again but will taken greater care in choosing my ale next time.

Best Pub in Auckland! Great food great Guinness! Hidden gem in Newmarket.

It was their Ukulele night with the Lost Chords that drew us here tonight. The room was full of ukelele players and singers and a great night out. It felt like we were in someone’s lounge such as the atmosphere in this pub. We had good potato wedges with sour cream, bacon and melted cheese. Wedges were crunchy with soft mushy centres. Very nice.

Excellent Pepper shrimps and the Claddagh Burger!Excellent service by the Bar Tender and on time service & a very good ambience ! Also since we booked the first table, there was no problem with parking at the back. It's actually staff parking but was given to us.

Called in here on Friday 23 October 2015, have been here on St Pats day last year and think they have the best Guinness in town - great little hide away out the back - have only had their Guinness here so can only rate them on that - has not been busy when I have called in so always good ol Irish service - but like someone has said the food is a surprise.  Typical dark dinggie Irish Pub - very authentic.
Diner8Here
Came here for a work xmas shout and as i was late had the left over buffet  which was average. I may come back and order as a private diner one day to see what's on the table next time. During the Xmas function they had issues with the karaoke gear, never mind..<br/>nice premises (if u can find et)  for Friday nite drinks and/or watch a live sport maybe?

I love this pub! The food is suprising - great flavour and portions! Sitting outside in the courtyard is really nice and I can reccomend the noodle salad! I defiently reccomend checking out this place now!

It's a pub. Not a gourmet restaurant.  Great old school English/Irish pub feel. Not flash but just the way it should be.   Been many times. Never disappoints. Great unique location.

Decadent local pub for those who need a drink at the end of their day. I had a lot of fun the last time I went for the karaoke night but the atmosphere was dark and sometimes a little bit scary if it wasn't for my group, trying to cheer people up and make friends. Staff are not very nice and some of the regulars seem to prefer not to be bothered, which does not make the pub very inviting. Food is average for a small pub and on my last visit the bartender was short pouring my drink, something I didn't like much.<br/><br/>You can visit with a large party of friends but I would definitely not come here on a date or with my family.

We always love coming to The Claddagh. The food this always more than delicious, with different specials ready to hit the spot. The bartenders are extremely helpful. Really can't say anything bad.

This is not the best pub I've been too, unfortunately I don't have positive things to say about this establishment.<br/><br/> Firstly, this is a really weird place for a pub, it's hidden away in a driveway off the Main Street. We chose to dine here because we had an entertainment voucher.<br/>I won't be back. <br/><br/>The food, the stew that we got was bland. Tasted like bland canned beef stew and looked grey and sloppy. We ordered a Cantonese Chicken Salad but ended up being a Thai Beef Salad. I don't know how you could mix those two up. . . But it was pub quiz night so the place was noisy so maybe the waitress couldn't hear us, she was soft spoken so we struggled to hear her.<br/>My salad was different, the dressing was drenched in the middle and not mixed so I had a pile of soggy saucy leaves. My beef was rather tough.<br/><br/>We had to ask for water as the staff seemed preoccupied with standing around listening in to the quiz. We went up to pay and it took the waitress a good while to stop paying attention to the quizzer and take our payment. <br/><br/> Unfortunately I can find better pub food, definitely better service elsewhere, I won't be back

Worst service in any faux Irish bar I've ever been in. Good Guinness takes time to serve so I paid for the next ones in advance but the stupid barmaid gave them away and so I had to wait and then she tried to charge me again! Whole place reeks of cigarettes but abysmal in the scungy beer garden where the manager/owner likes to spend his time drinking and smoking in uniform.

I love this pub. Its not pretentious. Its truly authentic. The shank I had was huge and so delish! Best Guinness I've had since my return from Europe. Very friendly staff and a really good vibe. Good prices compared to other pubs I've been to recently. I will so be back!
Philip
The food here is average. The prices are OK. Unfortunately I had the Irish stew which was not good at all.<br/>The environment is that of an average pub. - nothing special. <br/>The location is odd. It is down a driveway off the road and parking is difficult.<br/>My main gripe is that the service was below par. I had two issues that were not dealt with satisfactorily. <br/>Would I come here again - sorry no, there are many other better Irish venues around town.
Justin Maloney
Went there early last year and it was just OK. Went back again this week and was mighty impressed at the improvements that have been made. Whole place had a great friendly vibe and food was delish! I highly recommend the squid for a starter and steak for the main. Yum!
Tigir
The new owners have really improved the menu! Loved the lamb Shanks, cant wait to come back for the Irish stew! The Guinness was the best Ive had in Auckland and the band on Friday rocked!

We went here for lunch every single friday for 5 years and never once came away dissapointed. the staff were always very friendly and helpfull and the food is excellent.
