Review Scarlett Slimms And Lucky - Auckland Central

Amazing food! Highly recommend. Underrated. Visitors from Melbourne. We walked in randomly off the street with the family on a Friday night. Honestly, being at the end of the street, this was our last choice. We were lucky to have get a table. FOOD WAS AMAZING!! Looks like most people here were for Friday night drinks but we HIGHLY recommend the food. Ever was on point and pricing is very fair. Portions was VERY generous. Thanks for taking us in 😅🙏 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place is a real highlight of Mt Eden. Started out night here with a few cocktails and snacks. The cocktails here are sublime. We got the wrong order brought to the table but the staff were incredibly apologetic and remade the drink. The cauliflower bites were great and so was the service. Attentative and friendly but not overbearing. Honestly a 5/5 start to the night.

Loving the pork ribs and scotch fillet we had tonight. Great texture and beautiful presentation. The staff were very friendly as well. Will definitely come back soon.

Tokyo chicken was delish and the sliders were HUGE (that’s one and you get 3 of them!) My husband’s hamburger was delicious and the cocktails were very yummy.

Cute little plant filled cafe. Not the largest menu I’ve ever seen, but good enough selection. A variety of beers on tap, including NZ breweries. Friendly and efficient staff. Outdoor terrace is also plant filled and has heat lamps for the winter season.

Nice little place with a great vibe. Went there on a Tuesday night and they were super busy, but still had a table available for the four of us. Menu wasn't too big or small. Food was delicious and decent portion sizes. Cocktails were great. They had a nice selection and I found my new favorite. It was one that tasted just like a Jaffa - 'Sliim's Star', give it a try!

Good place to chill and drink and meet friends. Their cocktails are spectacular.Great customer service. The girl there didn't get her name she was very friendly and keep checking on us if we would to like to order anything else. Bar is next to main mt eden road, lots of parking around if you planning to go on Sunday.

2nd time we've been here. Had a reservation, the waiter looked after us well. Ambiance is great, the place is lively and always full of people. Food was good as usual, so many flavours! But it was better last time we were there. We had a great evening here 🙂

The cocktail 5stars 🍾 was very nice but the chips 3stars feels old as not even hot or Crispy. Cost $10 should make nicer

They have recently started a Sunday Roast. We tried the Lamb Shank Sunday Roast a which is quite well proportioned and great in taste. Other Recommendation - Fries. All in all a great Bar to go out with your partner, friends or colleagues.

I went there before and had food, it's decent bar food and the cocktails are good. We had the soju bowl the second time round, its delicious but you're basically drinking juice for $40, it doesn't really do anything. I would try other bowls just to compare but I don't think they'd be any different. I would come again tho :)

Came here with my cousin for the fishbowls & they did not disappoint 😍 customer service was great also. Food was yum, although a bit small in portion size (Fish & Chips) but maybe that's just us poly women with big appetites 😅 overall, will definitely be back & highly recommend!

Highly recommend this place! We ordered the beef brisket burger with shoestring fries, smoked prawn tacos and pork belly potato croquettes. Loved every bite.

Beef brisket burger: so tender and flavourful, gotta eat it fast or your buns will get soggy 😝

Smoked prawn taco: had lots of spices and the batter had a nice crunch to it. Paired well with the salad, I recommend adding their jalapeno hot sauce for a kick

Pork belly potato croquettes: really good too but couldn't really taste the pork belly and would've preferred more cheese in it

Fish Bowl Cocktail: so worth it, I can defs finish one by myself. Recommended for those who love sweet and refreshing cocktails.

Great customer service too, food and bevvy was served promptly! Good portion sizes and decent price. Had an awesome time and would definitely come back again for a fish bowl or two!

IG: tuuubbyeats

Loved it here. Had dinner with my friends and we all loved it. From the fries to the drinks to the our food. Everything was so good. Fresh fries and the atmosphere was great too. Didnt notice the quality of the service but we didnt have any problem. It can get busy though so better come in before 7pm and it should be fine.

Ordered via ubereats. Not what I expected, it was a clean version of a sloppy Joe. Burger base was soggy by the time I got it.

Taco night on Wednesday from Scarlett Slimms, nice place to spend the afternoon with friends or family. Also they have different daily offer which is very good deal. I give a try on battered fish and lamb taco. Both are nice and yummy.

Visited with the intention of having lunch followed by more than a few drinks for our first visit here. Started off with the cocktail bowls which were quite nice to sip on while we waited for our food. Part one of the three stars is due to the lack of flavour the food had, I ordered the cauliflower Mac and cheese and the meatball burger which consisted mostly of carrot. The Mac and cheese was quite tasteless and runny. That’s when we decided to not stay for any more drinks and head elsewhere. Part two, the staff were mediocre, no friendly chats and didn’t ask how everything went. Perhaps our expectations were high after reading such positive reviews beforehand...

Had a great couple of feeds here. The one pictured was a delicious sharing platter. The ribs were good, not the best I’ve had, but not terrible.
We came for the Bloody Mary with all the goodies on top but didn’t realise they stopped serving it.
No bother. The food here was good and the outdoor courtyard area is perfect for this sort of sharing food and beersies

Grilled Chicken Breast Gourmet Burger ($26), St Louis Pork Ribs ($32)
The burger may seem not that big (maybe coz it's next to a mountain of fries) but it was damn delicious, very filling and the chicken was grilled nicely. Heaps of sauce on the ribs too and a whole lotta potato mash. I don't think that amount of fries is necessary however but then $26 for just a burger wouldn't be right either.

Check out my insta @ohmyfoodiegoodie for m to follow more of my tried eats.

Had a great time here with my mates. The server and manager was very friendly! Food was good. The portion was a little small, but the taste definitely makes up for it. Ambience was good as well. A good place to be chilling with mates.
James
Coming for lunch, staff was friendly and service was fast and good, ordered the steak and was tasty. Definitely recommend to friends and come back again.

Seemed like a good place to have a few beers and chat. However the food was mediocre.

Portion size was good but the burgers were overcooked.

The curly fries were great.

Good place to go if you have zomato gold.
Lizzie
Super fast service and massive portions. Had the surf and turf and the chicken bunnice and both were well-cooked. The curly fries were a highlight!
Chrissy Misa
Thoroughly enjoyed my time here! The service was fast and easy and a nice location! The food was amazing and full of flavour. A hearty meal that my boyfriend and I really loved. Perfect for a date

Amazing fooooood! The platter was good and filling. Loved the dessert wantons. Such a nice place to chill with friends and have a couple of beers. Definitely a place to go and enjoy some amazing meals. đŸ»

*used Zomato gold* service was friendly, polite and professional. Ordered two whiskey and coke, a sprite, the karange chicken salad and the pork ribs.

Came in for brunch today. Tried the miso cauliflower salad and the crispy chicken burger with curly fries. Portion of Grilled Halloumi in the salad was extremely generous and salty. Really enjoyed eating the halloumi with the salad and fries. Burger had a semi spicy sauce. Brioche bun was firm and nice. Added different hot sauces to the fries to try out. Loved the range of hot sauces that they had on the table. Staff were so friendly, saw that we were trying out the hot sauces and left the whole water bottle for us.
Cheekycc
Good ambience, good food and friendly staff. Particularly loved the BBQ ribs that's crunchy outside and soft inside. My 8yo loved the scotch fillet and my 11yo loved the chicken burger (a bit spicy for kids though).
Gavin Lambert
Awesome meal. Very friendly staff. Great vibe and atmosphere. Good music. Presentation of food was great, quality and attention to detail. Attentive staff

This is a nice place for casual dining with friends and small groups, seating is not too comfortable so not a place to stay for too long. The food was of good quality, we ordered a full sized meat platter and it was delicious, however when shared between three people and at $60 we were left still hungry, and had to order two more dishes. The tandoori chicken bao buns were amazing, full of flavour. Plenty of sauces(range from mild to super hot) on each table for you to use, great idea!
Wapatino
I tried the fish of the day which came with a lentil pure, capers and other veggies. My partner tried the lamb which he really liked.

The staff was friendly. The seating was a bit awkward and uncomfortable unfortunately.

Overall, the food was very good and it was great value for money using zomato gold.

Highly recommend the "Glitter fish bowl " delicious mixture of alcohol to share with friends, picture perfect with edible glitter and pretty flowers. BBQ CHICKEN WINGS are in a totally different league of its own!
Dan Ali
Funky place, worth a try. Food was good, came fairly quickly. The portions were a bit too small so even after having steak with prawns, was left wanting more. Staff were friendly, service was very reasonable and quick.
Michael Chen
Location great and atmosphere great. Parking reasonably convenient and staff was quite friendly.

Food was great. Scotch fillet and the lamb was made quite well. Curly fries has also been pretty good.

Reasonable priced too.
Mercy
Food was not bad, kaarage chicken salad could do with a bit more something but the burgers were good and the bbq ribs were delicious. Meat fell off the bones.
Seri Kim
Good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. We ordered beef burgers and they were delicious. The curly fries were also very nice and crispy. Will definitely come back!👍

The food was amazing and the service was equally great! I had the ribs and my friend had the fish and chips.

For the ribs- the ribs themselves were amazing however I feel like the dish could have been supported better as I felt there needed to be some carbs to supplement the dish

Fish and Chips: my friend said they tasted amazing, the fish was flaky and super fresh

Ps. Sorry for the bad quality pics, the red light in the background made it impossible to take a good pic

Went with a group of friends for a birthday celebration and had a great time. We ordered 2 apetizers and 2 mains. The steak and prawns were amazing so juicy and flavourful. Our favourite was the lamb, so beautifully presented and full of flavour. The glitter fish bowl was also pretty damn good and finished of the meal nicely.

A nice little bar/restaurant located on Mt Eden Road, serving American dishes. Great for a casual night out.

Excellent vibe, highly recommend the outdoor seatings.

The lamb loins and scotch fillet were made just right, very tender, quality of meat was not too bad either for the price you pay.

Decently portioned, though slightly smaller than your normal American dishes.

Super nice waitresses with excellent hospitality.

Food: 7.5/10
Food presentation: 7/10
Service: 10/10
Location: 8/10
Ambience: 8/10
Price $35 per person (excl alcohol)
Really disappointed with the food we ordred. We each ordered a burger and both of the burger buns were stale and dry. We asked the waiter about it and was told by the chef that it was hard and dry because it was toasted and we were assured that the bread was fresh. my partner got offered a replacement while i just tried to pick the bread off mine. However after receiving the replacement (which was also toasted and warm but still soft) it was quite clear that the original ones were surely not fresh. The girls next to our table also ordered burgers and we could see that their burgers was soft, and fresh unlike what we had originally recieved. I tried to tell another waitress but again she said they were like that because they were toasted. Im not sure what kind of toasters are being used but if your making a soft burger bun taste stale and dry all the way through then that burger should not have left the kitchen.

I like the atmosphere here. The seafood is quite tasty here particular for the fish and calamari ring. They are tasted fresh and without smell of fish. They do not only provide tasty seafood but also provide a wide range of burger options.
Jacqueline L.
Ordered the beer battered fish and chips; fish crispy and good portion, nice curly fries, wish there are more fries to balance out the meal. Great location and excellent service. Meal came to the table within 10mins of ordering, and it was during peak lunch hour on a Saturday, very efficient 👍will definitely come back to try the burgers â˜ș

Nice atmosphere, nice service. Food was okay, squid and burgers are nice. the chicken salad was horrible.. way to much sauce basically can’t eat the veges.

The tandoori chicken bao buns were so good can’t wait to come back for more! Definitely worth stopping in to try these and the platter was good too!

Great food and great service. Unlike a lot of restaurants we have been to, they acknowledged zomato gold and had no restrictions for it on the menu. Would reccomend the chicken burger for sure!

Will definetly be back!
Kate Javier
The food quality was good, it tasted good but portions could’ve been bigger. We ordered the fish & chips and there was not much chips in there, not really worth $29 The chicken burger was good but the chicken could’ve been bigger. Overall it was still good but just not worth the price they advertise.
Cil Van Den Brink
We all had the steak & turf and it was definately worth the price! Mine was the best, both my friends steaks container a lot of fat And were a bit more tough then mine! So quality of the meat is not always simular on every plate! But Its real cozy, a nice popular place to sit! We’ll be back here for sure!

Pretty good food - got the fish & chips and scotch fillet & king prawns. Highlight for me was definitely the battered fish. Service was okay and probably would’ve rated a 4 if it weren’t for the swarm of flies at the back seating area which ruined our experience.

A very busy place but we managed to get a park right outside. We shared the chicken bao and the chilli calamari which were both delicious but the calamari was a bit on the small side for the price and what you pay for calamari at the other places similar. We made a booking via the zomato app but it either seemed to be missed or forgotten as the booking was confirmed on my end, they did manage to find us a table though while we waited at the bar. #zomatonz #zomatogoldnz #zomato #zomatogold #foodie #aucklandeats #foodgram #nzfoodie #delicious #foodpics #foodstagram #newzealandeats #amateurfoodie

Hell yes what great outlet and a sure try if you are in the area.
Great outlet to kick the night off with a good feed and a couple of drinks.
Cute menu with a lil story explaining the outlets name.
The Full Platter was delicious and worth every dollar. Beer batter fish was my fav with the curly fries delish ain’t no complaints about any of the other foods on the platter. The wings and ribs are on point but the fish was the winner for me.
Service was very fast and our waiters were nice and friendly. Only thing id say that I didn’t really appreciate was the amount of times the staff came over to the table to check if everything was okay. Now and then yeah but every 5 mins is a lil intrusive and annoying. Other than that everything was great.
Small but very nice outdoor area out front to enjoy the delicious food and drink.
Looking forward to returning and trying the delicious looking burgers. 👌

I Ordered theough uber cause I am sick the BBQ Chicken wings and I also put a note that “not so spicy” so that they know that I don’t like spicy. But what came to me as a surprise for a hungry sick customer was a spicy chicken wings.

We had the beer battered fish and bourbon scorched fillet. The salad on the side was replaced with some cabbage, tomatoes, tangerines as they had run out. The food was good with sufficiently large portion size. The fish was abit bland and the batter lacks a nice crunch to it. The scotch fillet was done medium rare as requested; tender and juicy.

Unfortunately we had to wait 30-40min for our food. I was initially annoyed at the service as we were not told about the mess up in the kitchen until I decided to enquire. One of the servers needs to be more hospitable as we felt that our frustration was not addressed accordingly. Fortunately, the manager or supervisor on duty was kind enough to apologise and gave us a 20% discount of our meals and drinks which we are truly thankful for.

The ambience was great and lively. Opens late and definitely a nice place to just chill after a long week.

Overall, it was just an ok experience given the long wait and lack of compassion from one of the servers. We would have felt more at ease despite our hunger if servers were more cheery, genuine and showed that they cared more for the customers.

Stopped by for a late night munch & the place just comes to life when the sun goes down. Plenty of outdoor seating. Contemporary diner theme, good to socialize over a few drinks & BBQ. A bit stingy on portions I'd say but the food was exceptional! The braised beef brisket was so tender that I didn't need to chew it. Service was amazing - I assume the guy in the collared-shirt with the top 2 buttons undone & the Cuban link chain ran the place. He was awesome!

Me and partner went here for lunch, atmosphere was very inviting and relaxing. Our host was very polite. Our food portions were a little on the small side however it was just a light lunch. The jamaican jerk chicken dish was very flavorful and well put together. Thoroughly enjoyed it. One or two pieces of the chicken was a little undercooked, however our host was more than happy to return it to the kitchen and bring out another fresh dish. No fuss. Was very happy about this and would still recommend.
#fatlyfe
Had the jerk and lime chicken, chicken burger and the cauliflower. The jerk chicken was super tasty had quite a bit of spice to it aswell. It had a ton of leaves in it which I wasn’t to happy about but that’s personal preference. A slice of lime with the meal would have been great! The cauliflower bites were crispy and quite a few on the plate

First time here as a Zamato Gold customer.

Food: There is a wide selection of food available and we ordered Agria Chips, Jerk n' Lime Chicken, Bourbon Scotch Fillet and drinks. The food was tasty and but all a little too salty, I wonder if this was done on purpose so that more drinks could be ordered. Special mention for the Jerk n' Lime Chicken where I was only given 4 very thin pieces of marinated chicken slices, while too much cucumber and lettuces. It was quite bad as I felt like I was having a vegan meal. All in all it was very so-so, volume was fine but really just standard pub food at best.

Service: The service was good with friendly staff. Timing for taking orders and getting food and drinks was also good.

Ambience: Garden setting with hanging plant baskets which is very nice. Great atmosphere.

Will I come back again? Probably not, unless I have to :-)

Decent food, good vibes, great service from the waitress. We were here on a Saturday night and our meals were served promptly. We had Bourbon scotch fillet as our main, it was served with XL shrimps and salad. Though the fillet is not the finest quality, we still enjoyed the variety in the main course itself. Haloumi was on the salty side. Last but not least, DO give the chipotle hot sauce a try, it tastes amazing with everything!

Updated: Tried their new menu, the steak with prawn. A BOMB! 5 star it is!

Friendly people, good food (with plenty of great chili sauce options).
Recommended! I tried their braised beef brisket. Will be back.

Hats off to Ben, the chef and the crew!

Scarlett Slimms and Lucky brought us back to the U.S.A. I was in the U.S.A for more than 6 years, the wings and steak were really good, not like Europen style, it was more like American style with a lot of source on it. The beer, food, and service were the highlight for our night. Highly recommend.
Food: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Atmosphere: 5/5
Value: 4.5/5

lovely place to hangout with friends and family.

nice sitout area, decent food and drink menu. cocktails are just amazing. have been here a couple of times and this place has never disappointed me. i would rate them 4.7 overall.

Delicious food - 5/5
Ordered Jerk and Lime Chicken & Braised Beef Brisket. Chicken dish is nice and light for the summer.
Beef Brisket, melt in your mouth...so good!

Perfect way to spend a Wednesday afternoon. The vegetarian platter and the boneless lamb shank were superb! Great service, good drink selection, quick service and not too $$$

Friends & I had come here to celebrate a double birthday and EVERYTHING was on pointttt.

We were seated outside, first greeted by those amazinggggg outdoor heaters😍 staff were super friendly and service was great! Loved the neon lights and comfy of the place too. The food was perfect omg that Fish was cooked with love I could tell haha and everything else I tried off my friends plate was 101 as well!

Those fish bowls thođŸ€€that glitter one... idk what was in it but it tasted heavenly.

We are definitely coming back!

Very keen to come back here for some food. Seems more on the pricey side but what a cool spot! Came here for just some drinks with some girls, such a good drinks menu! They have awesome looking fish bowls, and they are massive!! And also have an edible glitter cocktail fish bowl.. I know right?! Also come with obnoxiously long straws, it’s fantastic! Very picturesque spot. Had a delicious sangria jug to share. I will be back, love the vibe of this place.

Selected 2 dishes from chef's recommendations - Whiskey & Garlic BBQ Pork Ribs and Bourbon Scotch Fillet. Pork ribs were stunning. They were mouthwateringly delicious. Scotch Fillet was cooked medium rare beautifully. Succulent and tender. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 is due to long waiting time - took over 30 mins.
Effie Mcfall
Food was lovely. Had a great atmosphere and just nice and relaxing. I enjoyed the chicken wings the most. Would definitely come back here. The service was great.

Dined here with the family last night. The food for the most part was delicious and the service was great too.
I ordered a yummy Scotch Fillet medium-rare steak with prawn balls in a lovely red wine sauce and garlic mushrooms sides at $34 was simply delicious!! 😋
However the Sangria drink at $12 per glass was awful and quite difficult to drink.
Our entree platter of food consisting of four small ribs, a few finger pieces of fish, two pieces of hard toasted French bread, and a couple of small bowls of French fries were quite nice though rather expensive for $25.
All in all an enjoyable dinner. My delicious Scotch Fillet mains steak dish saved the day!!

I would rate 0 if possible. Went there tonight with my partner and my brother. Ordered a cocktail, beef burger, chicken burger, chicken wing and a steak. Cocktail came within no time but the glass was just half full and the glass wasn’t even clean. We waited for the next 20-25 minuets for the food but it didn’t arrive. Nobody asked for more drinks didn’t even refill the water glass. When asked the waiter about it she said it would take another 15 min. I would accept this if the restaurant was full but unfortunately it wasn’t. I would never go their again and won’t recommend to go either.

I had family visiting, so ten of us from four different countries came here for dinner on a Sunday night. I was a bit worried it would be a bit chilly when we were seated outside, but we were directly under a powerful heater and there were lots of lap rugs available. The heater was just right, no rugs needed.

My extended family likes their food and is quite demanding and discerning, and they loved the food here. They found the service a wee bit slow but when they realised that there was only one server covering the whole floor, they were much more forgiving. The food came out in really good time though. The server was so friendly and perpetually cheerful, even when we handed him five phones for him to take a photos of us all!

I was so delighted that the restaurant very happily accommodated our request for the food to be served family-style to share. Normally you order a protein, an accompaniment, and a sauce to assemble your individual main meal but we ordered a whole lot of entrees, some proteins, some accompaniments, and sauces for the proteins and they served it all on large boards. We ordered more food throughout the evening and the additional dishes came out really quickly.

A big favourite was the scotch fillet which was smokey and delicious. We ended up ordering four lots of it in total. Everyone was a bit skeptical about the bang bang cauliflower, but the very thin coating of crunchy batter, the soft cauliflower, and the tangy sauce meant the plate of it quickly got eaten. If I hadn't been so full I would've definitely ordered more of it.

There was not one dish that disappointed. Even the shoestring fries were absolutely perfect. My elderly aunt hadn't been that well recently and her appetite had diminished. She wanted some fish but the tuna (fish of the day) didn't appeal but Scarlett Slimms was happy to cook her some monk fish. As it turned out, her son was delighted because she ended up eating a bit of all the other dishes as well, which was a testament to the deliciousness of the food.

The only thing that was a bit off was the red wine sangria. We ordered a jug of it and it was too sweet and very watery.

We had a super night and my family couldn't stop raving about the food and the place. Thanks Scarlett Slimms and Lucky for impressing my rellies.

This place never fails. They have beautiful drinks and the food quality is up there with the drinks. We got two fish bowls cocktail and everyone got a main. The waitress was so helpful with the build you own menu as well!

Nice place amazing food , pork rib little bit dry but my friend love it. I love bang bang prawn its taste Sweet and sour . Meat lover's heaven.
We spent several hours here yesterday afternoon
A great place to sit and watch the world of the wonderful Mount Eden go by
The 500ml tall Heinekens are to die for
We share a fabulous half platter
Smoked ribs Chicken wings Crispy fish Agria skinnies Kumara chunky fries
Fiercely tasty
The service was efficient and friendly
I would recommend this establishment highly

Came across this place on Zomato a day prior to our visit and my girls were not disappointed in my choice 😊 the service we were greeted with was very friendly and occasionally came over to make sure we were okay and were pleased with our order. The fish bowl was shared among 5 of us and it fit perfect! I ordered the chefs choice of chicken while everyone else order burgers. We were all very pleased with our meal however I would still say this place is pricy for its simple menu. I was happy all our dishes came at the same time because some restaurants don’t do that so I appreciated that! Overall super lovely place and would come here a bit more if it wasn’t such a drive! A1 service đŸ™ŒđŸŒ

Food is good and the service is friendly a bit forgetful if the place is full..courtyard is cozy and pretty. parking can be a issue. will go again

A must if you’re in Mount Eden.

The barbecue wings are delicious! Especially accompanied with a vege platter.
Not a big fan of the baked chicken but the potato salad is great and has a homemade element to it.

My friends ordered some drinks they looked amazing especially the fish bowl drink.
Sakshi Chadha
I actually went here to try their food cocktail but apparently they’re not doing them anymore so I was a tad disappointed. We ordered the risotto and the chocolate ganache which were both a 5/5.
Rob
Had their beef brisket main. Good flavours with the truffle butter and also their red wine jus.

I thought the portion size was adequate too.

Great if you have an Entertainment Book as they offer a buy one get one free on their mains.

We came here on a rainy Thursday afternoon. They had their $15 any burger + skinny fries deal on which was the perfect lunch remedy.
Two of us got the burgers and one got the lamb shank which had been deboned.
The burgers were delicious as well as the fries. Not too memorable, but then how special can a burger be?

The staff were lovely as well as the service.
Hilary Campbell
Came here as a group of ten last weekend. The courtyard is lovely and warm and very pretty. The service was friendly but very slow and forgetful, had to ask for menus, forgot drinks, and food came out so slowly and not together that some people had finished eating by the time others got there food. The food was much too small for the price and some meals came with barely any sauce. I liked the concept of choosing each part of your meal however. The food itself was very nice. I chose the steak with red wine jus, kumara chips and the feta and rocket salad. My steak was cooked perfectly, the kumara fries were delicious and so was the salad. After reading the reviews of this place, I am disapointed, the service really lets this place down.
Rosemary Cook
Good food and ambience. This is a really popular spot in Mt Eden. We ordered the jerk chicken and lamb. The portions were small for the price ($25 avg per dish) but the service was good. Overall, we were satisfied but not impressed by this place.

Great place great food good customer service:) will be back for sure rosanna is great and she is on to it thanks scarlett slimms and lucky for great service

I knew about this joint from Groupon and checked its rating from Zomato and straight away bought a deal as it has quite a good impression from other foodies here. Who wouldn’t love affordable good food eh, I’m always down for that.

We’ve waited for our order for at least an hour since we were there as soon as they opened. Understandable. The gentleman who was assisting/serving us was really friendly and nice and he even offered us a free drink for the wait time, that’s a good point. I think ambience of the place is relaxing except when it’s raining when you choose to sit outside. The food isn’t bad nor that great but wouldn’t complain.

Disappointed in terms of the condition of the Groupon deal. I thought that for 2 people, we’re allowed to use more than 1 voucher as it states from the mentioned site: “minimum 2 people”, “maximum 3 vouchers per table” and “maximum 2 vouchers per person”. Ain’t sure if it’s from the Groupon or the joint itself that the conditions of use aren’t that specific unlike Grabone. I bought 3 vouchers from SSL but only ended up using one.

Regardless, I hope I’ll get a chance again to visit this place to try their Fish and Chips next time.

Without the deal confusion/misunderstanding, SSL is a pretty decent dining place.
Blake Hetherington
Buffalo wings were on point. Chicken and shrimp cooked/seasoned perfectly. Free beers were a bonus due to a service error. Burgers served medium were so tasty
Julia Louise
Great place to meet with a group and have share plates and drinks. All the food I've tried on their menu is amazing and the cocktails are fantastic too. The courtyard out the front is usually busy and the place has a great vibe. Friendly service.

If you haven’t seen this place on social media, jump on Instagram now! If their grams don’t entice you (check out that bloody mary)
I don’t know what will. Located on Mt Eden road, this place isn’t big and is easy to miss if you don’t know where it is. The outdoor area at the entrance has a been well done and I love the printed booth seats, hanging pot plants and neon sign - giving this place character and making it a great spot for casual catch ups. The menu covers have a quirky and retro look which adds to the character of the space. The staff are friendly and suit the relaxed vibe of this place.

We ordered the Vegetarian half platter and the Starter half platter. Two half platters was more than enough for the two of us! I must say that two only just fitted on our table and we felt a bit cramped. We enjoyed being able to have a taster of everything though. Their well-known kumara chips did not disappoint and were very generous in size. We also rated the hush puppies - polenta and corn with a crispy casing. From the Starter platter, the chicken wings were my favourite - packed with flavour and really tasty. The ribs weren’t far behind either!

Now that we have tried a selection of what they have to offer we’re keen to try some more. I’ve heard they have a great burger deal before 3pm so will be dining in again for lunch. It was also nice to see they have a ‘customised main’ on their menu, where you can pick all parts of the dish - only problem is making up your mind from the lengthy list!

This place put a lot of thought in their theme. From the menu to the decor everything is in character. The cocktails were quite cool plus there's live music. The place is quite small so you don't feel like you are competing with a huge crowd for the music. The food is exciting as well. They have everthing if you are wanting a dinner/drinks with friends.

Me, my partner and her family came here for dinner, it was very busy. We didn't make a booking, yet the lovely staff managed to clear a table for the 4 of us.
Very polite, very prompt, excellent service went beyond expectations to the point one lovely lady moved the heater over to us for our 75 year old lady who found it a bit chilly.
The food was amazing. The everything pork entrée was delicious, but the star of the evening was the brisket. Just melt in your mouth and pulls apart. 5/5 for food and customer service. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back for more.

Scralette Slimms & Lucky

THE FOODOLOGIST RATING:-

FOOD:- 5/5 (Great Food,Well Cooked,Fresh)

SERVICE:-5/5 (Casual , Fast, Efficient.Great Customer Service)

AMBIANCE:- 5/5 (Good Atmosphere,Casual,Fun Great Vibe,Beautiful under the lights)

CLEANLINESS:-5/5 ( Eat From The floor)

VALUE FOR MONEY :- 4/5(A Tad bit on the expensive side, but worth the $ spend)

FOOD POCKET DAMAGE:- ****/***** (Cost For 2 $70)

THE FOODOLOGIST REVIEW:-

Visited the place for Valentines Day and made the perfect choice for a evening of wine with friends celebrating relations and love and this place was the prefect choice for the same . The ambiance matched perfectly to celebrate the occasion .The customer service was was casual not pushy relaxed and the staff were great not only with the way the spoke but also guiding on what is good . There was an offer for the night which was any mains were served with a bubbly . I passed on the same but the bar menu was reasonable. The menu is limited but i prefer restaurants which have a limited menu as you are sure the food will be fresh and would be cooked right .We started with the starter platter to go with drinks .When they say platter the mean platter . A large board with everything possible seafood ,game to meats .All the different variations tasted good whether deep fried or braised . The sauces went perfectly with them . For the mains all of us decided to go for the build your own .I ordered the bourbon scotch filet with the bang bang prawns wilt a mushroom sauce. The prawns were succulent and the fillet a perfect medium rare my friends had ordered the chicken and the fish had a taste and it was equally good .A great restaurant

Yummy. Went there for lunch today, using a entertainment book voucher too, which made it super affordable. We got the recommended meal from the make your on range (which is super cool). We had the steak with bangban prawns and lamb with celeriac puree. The food was great. Had no faults. Will come back again to some of there crazy cocktails and other food when we don't have a 4 year old with us. 0. 5 off because there are no low tables inside only stools.

A good place to hang out with friends ..good and friendly staff located in the heart of mount Eden village Scarlett slums and lucky serves quite a different and good nibbles and mains compared to its neighbour outlets, me and my friends went there for a drink and few nibbles I had ordered for bang bang cauliflower , hand cut wedges served with wheat beer aioli which tasted really good I also ordered for lucky burger which was a good beef burger and was really tender served with shoestring fries my mains was a bit let down for me where I had an option for selecting my own mains the portion of jerk chicken was bit small and the price for sauce and side was bit too much as per the potion but the dish overall went really well with celeriac purée and roasted vegetables what I would suggest would they should put some other verges more that just putting different type of carrots by overall a very good experience
Would love to go back

This little gem has a great atmosphere. Book a table online to secure your place. It's really easy and fan be done even for 2. The outdoor seats are lovely and warm in winter with heaters and blankets if you need.

These guys specialise in gin and have an extensive menu. But it's worth paying the extra $3 to get the nice NZ tonic. After trying both we reckon the East Imperial is the best.

The brisket and burgers are yummy pub fare. The chocolate dessert is divine.

Thoroughly enjoyed coming here :) Good food, good drinks, good dessert, good service and good vibes! I need to come back here asap and try out the rest of the items on the menu!

Delicious!! Love the menu that u can build your own main, salad and sauce! Good environment had a great time catching up with friends. Definetely come back again to try other dishes

Came here for lunch today and we were both really impressed. We ordered from the build your own menu and got the scotch bourbon steak with red wine jus đŸ· The actual piece was like an eye fillet so lean and delicious 5/5 the only component that didn't work was the alfalfa on top. It just tasted strange . It would be good to ditch it altogether or use anther base and garnish. The fries were delicious ! Hot and fresh with a lovely aioli. Lovely serving staff, the lady was so friendly . Will definitely be back

The cocktails here are awesome. It's a cool place with a sweet set up. Great for a drink with friends. The food is tight really yum. It is that modern pub grub that's getting around. It's fairly pricey but it is worth it if it's what your craving.

First time to came last night, a bit slow for a Tuesday night but with friendly service.
We had scotch fillet and hapuka. The fillet was over cooked while we requested medium rare; the fish was fine. We love they have all different levels of chilli sauce.

Came here last night with the flatmate, what better day to dine-out than a Monday night. We had come around here a few Friday's but it was to packed so Monday was a perfect opportunity for us. Overall enjoyed the food and the environment here, service too.

THE FOOD
With this place there is an option to build your own mains, both myself and my flatmate had selected this option for the main.

Pork belly, potato salad, bangbang prawns, creole gumbo (3/5): The pork belly wasn't the best for me, some parts were dry and the skin chewy. The potato salad was mediocre. BUT the redemption was the bang bang prawns. The best way I can describe this is like popcorn chicken but with prawn coated in a sauce. Other than the prawns the creole gumbo went really well with the pork, it was like a perfectly spiced southern style salsa that mellowed out the taste of the pork, these two elements redeemed the dish.

Steak, shiitake mushrooms, bangbang prawns, truffle butter (5/5): This was my flatmates choice and I was truly having food envy, the steak was cooked well and was enjoyable (we had recently eaten at jervious steakhouse so this is a big compliment), the mushrooms were cooked perfectly, and with the truffle butter the flavor combination was almost second to none. Would definitely recommend this option.

Lucky's Beef (3/5): Initially we ordered just the curly fries, after reading some of the reviews on here we did change our minds and went for the Lucky's Beef burger. Honestly, I regret just not ordering the basket of fries, they were good. As with the burger, I would say that it's good but wouldn't say amazing.

THE ENVIRONMENT (3.8/5)
Really enjoyed the relaxing environment, although a few points to critique:
1) Tables are a little small and the dishes are quite large.
2) Beware the heater in the middle at night, can get a little too hot.
Other than that really liked the ambiance of the place.

THE SERVICE (5/5)
Staff here were very friendly and patient with us.

WORTH IT?
As long as you get the right dishes then for sure, would probably come back here.

The fajitas is bomb dot com I reckon. I still haven't found any other place that does it better. The kumara chips were amaze balls. Thick and crispy.
I like how they give you sauces to pick from for your pork ribs too. Over all, a good experience.
Daphne Margarette
We ordered lots of starters and mains on this restaurant. Taste like regular ones, nothing spectacular. The staff are just moderately friendly and seems like they are tired from the days work.
JungYun Lee
Good place for late night snack and drinks.
Inside of the restaurant is quiet small and it does get busy on Friday and Saturday nights.
We ordered customize meal where you can choose the meat, sauce, sides. Friendly staff.
I can't really commet anything bad about this place but nothing spectacular.

The food was really amazing n fresh, our order came really quick in about 10 mins and was hot. The fish was nicely cooked and was yummy with the sauce. The chips were then and delicious. Enjoy the food n highly recommends

Your best Bloody Mary in town my friends!!! Yes you heard right..!

The best bloody Mary was mounted with everything fried. The drink was strong spiced hit in the first sip, and a lime palate with notes of cloves after taste.I bet they have a secret sauce making this drink very unique, sour and spicy. Friend and I had requested vegetarian nibble and our request was catered too. The topping were a fried cauliflower, a mini vegetarian burger, and onion ring, and a corn hush puppy.Thank you very much Scarlett Slimms and Lucky for our banging bloody Mary!

We then had Cheese Curds. Never heard of this before but the description read sago that's cubed and deep fried and when dipped in mango chutney, the flavours celebrate a fire work!

The show stopper that we had to have, and lucky for us, it was on special until 3pm. Hip hip hurray for our vege burger! Yes we are vegetarians and slightly fussy as well. We don't just eat any burger cuz a few veges have been thrown in it. Like the hunters, we look for some 'meaty' substance too and we found our substance in this Slimm's polenta burger! Perfect with chunks of creamy avo, crispy polenta spiced up patty, cheesy salty haloumi, onion rings, pungent mustard, and the whole mouthful followed by a bite of good old buddy pickle- super yuuuuuuum!!! With a side of crunchy shoestring not super well done fries, this combo is a steal! I would be going back and back and back for one of those vege burger babies!

Scarlett Slimms and Lucky are doing the flavours right. They have discovered the magic of spices that I'm so ga ga over and I'll be going back again and again and again...until I have tried all their vegetarian works. A generous rating because they are embracing the vegetarian cult and offering top notch dishes. Thank you :)

I have been meaning to try this place for a while and finally had the chance. We ordered the beef burger, pork belly burger and hush puppies.
I loved the hush puppies - probably the best I have had. They were full of flavoyr for a hush puppy and the chipotle sour cream on the side suited it perfectly. The burgers were good. Saucy and delicious. I loved the crispiness of the apple in the pork belly. My only criticism os I feel like the pork belly needs maybe just 2 slices of pork extra. The pork belly is sliced thinly and tastes nice but the last quarter of the burger was just bread and other filling but no pork belly.
I would like to try their other dishes so will probably be back.

Scarlett Slimms brings a Southern twist to some of our favourite food! Whether your trying our their "Build your own" main section, going all out for three courses.. or sharing some platters.. we know you won't be disappointed. We've been here a few times now, always great and friendly service.. they're always happy to help guide you on what to drink and what's new! It's usually busy, but that just adds to the epic surroundings and atmosphere created by their staff and decor. Our pick? Grab a cocktail or 5 and order a whole bunch of their starts and sides, their Kumara fries and just delicious.. and that Pork Belly.. yuuum!

Fantastic!!! I just can't get enough!
Every now and then the menu changes and it keeps getting better and better.
Environment and drinks are great, perfectly matching the food. So many favourite dishes that it's hard to pick, but I'll name the most remarkable ones: special Tuna nachos, Squid, Pork Ribs, Hapuka, Chicken and Fish burgers (both are to die for) and to finish well the night I can't miss the Bread Pudding.
Cant wait for my next delightful visit :)

This place was amazing! Was greeted and seated promptly with water bought to us immediately. Lovely atmosphere and vibe with beautiful hanging pot plants and retro theme. I ordered an extravagant and expensive cocktail but boy was it worth every penny! Majito, topped with a mini burger, shrimp, corn etc all on top! I had this as my meal with a side of jumbo onion rings which came uniquely presented and were delicious. My boyfriend got the Luckys beef burger and it was a very generous portion which came with skinny fries and he said it was to die for. Definitely coming back as a lot on the menu I want to try. Perfect scene for a date or would recommended to anyone! :)

Absolutely loved this place! Had been here once before but it was late and the kitchen was closed so we had a couple of drinks but I was very keen to dine here. So glad I did.

4 of us dined here on Sunday night and it was a fantastic meal. We got a couple of beers, an espresso martini and I had a blueberry mojito as recommended by our server. It was delicious!

For starters we had the everything pork which was faultless and the cheese curds that were presented beautifully and were very unique, would definitely get that again. For mains I had the chicken which came with cranberries, alfalfa sprouts and capers. The portion seemed small but was actually quite filling. My partner had the beef brisket which came with chips. The meat was extremely tender, again no complains. One of our friends had the customised meal with chicken and bang bang prawns-they were so good. The vegetarian diner with us had the customised beetroot and fennel gnocchi with potato salad. She didn't like the gnocchi but all of us tasted and loved it-just her person choice maybe.

Service was attentive and so friendly. They didn't charge us for the gnocchi which they didn't really need to but kind gesture nonetheless. Overall loved the ambience, loved the food, loved the service. Will definitely be returning.
During the peckish days of our university years, there was one simple rule: “When in doubt, go to Mt Eden Road” where the likes of Frasers and Circus Circus awaited us with nibbles, cosy tables for lazy conversation and semi-okay parking. Now we enviously watch students being pampered with the likes of RAD, Garden Shed, Pasta & Cuore, Olaf’s and now
Scarlett Simms & Lucky (on top of said eateries). We try not to sound too bitter.
Taking to the sunny front porch of Scarlett Simms & Lucky, we oggled the menus disguised as retro crime novels. The Frankenstein-esque “Build-Your-Own Mains” were interesting and probably better suited to people who know what they are doing. What would hapuka taste like with braised apple and red wine jus? Lured by the $15 burger deal, most of us ordered that — it was served on a saucer that sat on top of a wooden platter which looked great but provided a culinary spinning saucer challenge every time you try to put a fork to it. Pretty hilarious. Perhaps they’re teaching us to pick up the burger with our bare hands like the real burger eater-ers (i.e. Lou). Mel’s hand-cut kumara fries are a worthy mention - just check out the photo.
Check out our individual food reviews here: husk.co.nz/lunches/scarlett-slimms-lucky

Had a not so great experience due to an extremely long wait time and bad service. Place seemed understaffed and staff that were there seemed like a mess and were unable to juggle the orders. Food was good but wait time and waitstaff forgetting to put orders though resulted in a bad experience.

Went there Friday night on impulse (to use an Entertainment book voucher). Called beforehand to ensure we could get a table as it was 7pm and told yes, and we arrived shortly afterwards and were seated immediately.

We were quickly provided with drinks by a happy and cheerful waitress.

We ordered the Cheese Curds to share to start which were excellent in flavour, presentation, and quite filling; 6 pieces, 3 each being ample.

My partner ordered Pork Belly and Beetroot Gnocchi. The pork was great, the Gnocchi not very good.

I ordered the Pork Ribs with Braised apples and pears and Creole Gumbo. All were good, the ribs having lots of meat on them and a distinct smokey flavour. The gumbo was quite spicy but not overpoweringly so.

We also ordered Skinny Chips which were great, but they arrived with our entree so we had finished most of them by the time our mains arrived and they had got cold by then too. It also meant we 'pigged' out on the fries and I was not so hungry by the time the mains arrived.

I left some of my ribs and gumbo, and it was very nice that the waitress came back to ask if there had been anything wrong with them. There wasn't, but it was a nice touch.

Overall a good experience. Food was ok, atmosphere terrific, service outstanding, and pricing was very good value for money.

This is the third time we went to SSandlucky, but this time we did not quite enjoy the food over there, I ordered a fish and chips, my bf ordered a chicken burger both of them were way too salty, we told the waiter about it, he was very nice to offer us to change it, and after the food change back I just realized the chips they served the first time were definitely left over one, the difference can be seen from the pictures I have uploaded, the taste, the look, it so much different! That's why it was so salty, because I think they must have cooked once before and cook one more time to serve us again. This is really disappointing, I think we won't go there again. Even though I quite like there before.

Scarlett Slimms is a place I have visited many times but never bothered to bring my camera along for proper photos because the food is just too irresistible to spend too long taking photos of. Their fare clearly focuses on the food and flavour, and looks naturally mouth-watering
Hungry Auckland
When we started seeing crazy Instagram photos and Facebook posts of a pretty epic Bloody Mary, we felt inclined to do some research and track down this beauty. Pretty partial to a tipple or three this beauty came with elaborate garnishes and we knew we had to check it out.

The place serving up these crazy creations is Scarlett Slimms & Lucky in Mount Eden. A funky, retro looking eatery and bar with a neon sign and a great outdoor space – we entered to excitedly get stuck into the menu!

We were seated promptly and feasted our eyes on the ample, comprehensive menu. Now this isn’t your typical eggs benedict, brunch kind of place. But if you can’t find something you like on this menu, you need to seriously have a word with yourself!

Our favourite thing on the menu hands down was the Beer Cheese Fondue. Made with brown ale, topped with jalapeños and served with nachos and bread sticks, the fondue definitely had a kick from the chilies! The cheese was so moreish and silky we found ourselves asking for more bread to mop up all the dregs! Please Scarlett’s can you also make this as a main course dish in a bigger size? We’ll love you forever if you do!

Next up we went for the Polenta and Corn Hush Puppies – roasted herb potatoes, chipotle, sour cream, jus and chives. A crispy outer layer encased a piping hot, fluffy and flavourful centre. We definitely recommend them!

For our main course we opted for the Seafood Chowder. Packed with prawns, mussels and squid it wasn’t as creamy as the typical New England chowder we’ve tried before but was packed full of flavour and topped with toasted bread and herbs.

The Crispy Chicken Burger was served in a soft , spongy bun which soaked up all the delicious apricot chutney and Franks hot sauce. The chicken was soft, perfectly cooked and topped with cabbage and capsicum.

But lets get to what we really came here for right? Our mouths fell open when they arrived and we loved looking round to see the reactions of the other diners as their cocktails were delivered to their tables.

Seriously this is a meal in itself! Topped with a pickle, a polenta and corn hush puppie, a mini burger, an onion ring and a chicken breast you seriously don’t need to order anything to accompany this! But trust us, you’ll want to as the food is so good.

You can pick the level of spice you would like or you can add your own from the range of hot sauce on the table.

Go now before they run out!!!!
Monique Porteous
I'll admit it, the Bloody Mary had me intrigued. While I did not get the extravagant drink, I can say this place has a lot to offer besides crazy cocktails đŸč. Located in the heart of the Mt. Eden village you'll spot a porch with hanging greenery and neon signage, and that is the spot you want to be ✹. Burgers, meat and cocktails galore! What more could a carnivore dream of 😍. Great service, even greater food and an all rounder in terms of quality đŸ”„.

Hmmm what can I say...Loved this place! Customer service was amazing! Such a cool little spot. We were seated outside, the night was pretty cold but we were right under the heater so we were nice and warm.

Menu books were so cute! :)

I had the Bloody Mary and I actually really enjoyed it. Still can't believe I was full just from that lol
I also ordered the the Barberque Prawns. It was so good, the bacon was salty but the pineapple slices balanced it out.
My sister had the Luckys Beef Burger and she really enjoyed it.

I am definitely coming back to this place!!!

Amazing Service
Delicious Food
Great Atmosphere

What more can you ask for 😊
I keep coming back here, i like the vibr and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. The food is god too, love the hand cut fries and mixing the hot sauces with the aioli. Shared platters are a must and the squid is awesome. Recommended and i will be back.

Went to scarlett slimms and lucky tonight to catch up with an old friend, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly! Although the place was busy we were seated quite quickly and the wait staffs were very friendly.

To start with we ordered the half plater that contained pieces of fish, chicken wings, squids, kumara chips, wedges onion rings and salads. The winner was definitely the squid! They were so crunchy and I realised it was crumbed with crushed tortillas rather than normal bread crumbs, genius!!!

For main I created my own meal with the pork belly (to die for!) roasted sausages smothered with spicy mustard sauce and some chopped salad. The pork belly was just amazing! It went beautifully with the spicy mustard sauce (i love that it has a lot of kicks). The sausages we're tasty, but it wasn't what I expected. To me it tasted like some Chinese five spice which was a little weird at first but I enjoyed them after a few bites. The chopped salad was nice, Crunchy and was full of flavours. Again the unexpected things happened, I tasted coriander seeds in it which I didn't think work well in the salad... But it wasn't bad at all.

My friend had the ribs for her main, and i have to admit i had food envy! The ribs were so juicy and meaty! They were so good!

We shared the deconstructed rhubarb and bery crumble... Since im not really a dessert fan, I thought it was just ok. But then again i was so full i only managed a few bites.

Overall we had a great time! Good service, amazing food! A tad expensive, but will definitely come back! I am keen to try their bloody-marry!!

Confessions Of A Foodaholic
Great vibe and great food and also great staff! Our waitress was funny and attentive. We tried the famous Scarlet bloody mary, they dont joke around if you ask for it to be made spicy! The boneless wings, market fish and the bang bang prawns were definitely the winners of the night. Tried all the desserts too (we were in a big group). My favourite was definitely the rhubarb! Bit pricey as it all adds up but food was definitely tasty. Wish we lived closer to Mt Eden so that we could call this place our local!
Rebecca MacDonald
First of all apologies for the red light photos but we were sitting outside right under the neon sign. This little local to Mt Eden village is pumping on a Friday night with people getting their drink on but we decided to check it out for food so headed there on a quieter Sunday night. It's not big so seating options are somewhat limited and even on a Sunday we only had a choice of outside. But the outdoor heaters were cranking so no issues. We tried the steak and pork belly burgers both were delicious and came with great thick cut agria fries. Definitely worth checking out!
Andrew Simons
Came here on busy wednesday night for dinner with my partner. We both had the create your own dish, which was creative, plentiful and delicious. The staff were clearly very busy but still made time for us and we were taken care of from start to finish. 10/10, will definitely be back!
Nathan
Very disappointing experience. my brother and I were excited to come and have dinner and a drink here but the service was a letdown from beginning to end. Left feeling ripped off and hungry.
Burger was ok but not worth $18 on its own. All up paid $125 for 2 people including 2 drinks each and we were then swiftly rushed out (which honestly suited me fine). will not be going back.
Natalie Dolan
Came here on a relatively quiet night and found myself a little disappointed. Ordered a chai latte to drink which came in a very small cup- although understandable as it was extremely strong. Strange at first, but nice after a while. Then ordered the ribs meal but the waiter seemed to get confused between the meal and the plain 1kg of ribs. It wasn't too big of a deal as they were the same price, but considering that there was very little meat on most of the ribs themselves and it lacked anything else i.e. vege etc., it was a little disappointing. At least the sauce was pretty nice. All in all, I left Scarlett Slimms still hungry and unsatisfied. Perhaps next time I'll just get a cocktail?

-Service next to non-existent and when appears is completely useless-Food stretched so overpriced to the extent of taking the piss
-Small quantities for dinner (not sure about lunches), had to go out somewhere else afterwards

If your wanting amazing service lovely people and a good place to just relax have a fantastic yummy meal or just a beer on tap, this is the place.
I took my partner here for his birthday and they were amazing, always around when you needed them, one girl was new but she had great food knowledge, loved seeing all of the staff joking and talking to each other while working in a fast pace environment. I had a cake prepared and all the staff sung happy birthday while turning the music down and everyone joined in.

Only fault was in my seafood pot there was only 1 prawn, but I have an addiction to prawns so I was alittle guttered about that, but otherwise the meals were amazing!!

To top it off they had Sangaria night for $25 a jug. Can't go wrong with that.

Thank you Scarlett slimms! Was a lovely dining experience and will defs come back again. 😊

It was my first time to this lovely place. Went in with an old friend for a quite lunch... Wasn't too busy that was great.

Service was great... lovely welcoming and interactive staff... liked the fact they looked after us well...

The burgers were beautiful especially one I ate and the coffee was wonderful too.

Will definitely visit again... highly recommended for lunch...

Nice new menu, good to have a local which delivers with some atmosphere. Everything has improved since the last time I visited. Looking forward to trying out more on the new menu

Came here for a lazy lunch last Sunday afternoon after hearing much about this place. Having previously been a very popular pub the change was intriguing.

We arrived to a not busy place and were promptly seated with menus presented to us. The menu was a mixture of American and some kiwi classics but nothing that seemed to jump out at or peak interest. Nevertheless we decided to stay and sample the food.

The food was well cooked but nothing great that you would be dazzled by. The jerk chicken salad was well put together whilst the make up your own dish of jerk chicken and jambalaya was also well seasoned and cooked.

The desert of crÚme brulee was undercooked and not very nice to eat.

Service was next to non existent with one waitress having to deal with the whole place. We ended up being served our mains by the nice chef(who obviously didn't want his food left sitting on the pass getting cold) and needed to go up to the counter to ask if we could order desert. The desert arrived without any cutlery and again required going to the bar to request it which resulted in being presented with a teaspoon to eat desert with.

Overall maybe a place to go and get drinks but unfortunately there are better places nearby to go eat and definitely be giving the kitchen a miss...

I love this place. The onion rings tower is my favourite followed by the fish and chips. I really like the restaurant theme and decoration as well. And the service is always great.

Meeting friends in Mt Eden for dinner we decided to try this spot as it had always looked quite busy each time we'd passed by previously. We sat inside as it was a cooler night, but the outside area looked like a great option too.
The decor is quite cool & retro with nice clean lines - definitely a nice location for meeting friends.
We'd heard good things about the burgers & certainly saw quite a few leaving the kitchen (food envy!) but it felt like more of a pork belly kind of night with the winter chill in the air. A portion of the menu is based around picking your meat, your side & a sauce which is a nice point of difference. This comes to around $26, so not cheap, but beautifully put together & with quality ingredients. So our combos were pork belly with agria fries & Mayo sauce (also with hot sauce from the table condiments added), pork belly with agria fries & a red wine jus (this combo worked better). For the vegetarian, pasta with pesto & agria fries. Also a side of kumara fries for the hungry man. The agria fries were a real stand out - nice & chunky & perfectly cooked.
A couple of us had just enough room (just) for dessert & opted for the rhubarb crumble - absolutely delicious with beautiful presentation. The valrhona cake was unusual but also delicious with charred marshmallow on the side.
Drinks wise a Monteiths IPA, & 2 cocktails - Mango & a Slimm Collins. All hit the spot.
Service was really good with some engaging conversation & great menu recommendations. Only gripe was that plates were removed before all of us had finished our meals. Not a biggie but it's better to wait until everyones finished especially when there are shared sides. It certainly wasn't done in a rude way though & a side plate was quickly brought in as a replacement.
Overall a great visit & looking forward to exploring more of the menu next time.

Very cool little place in Mt Eden and first visit back since it was Mt Eden cloak room. Service was great as was the wine but the food unfortunately didn't hit the spot. I ordered the steak and swapped the prawns for salad - great to be able to do this btw. Unfortunately although the steak was cooked perfectly the amount of fat was quite disappointing and I know it was a scotch but it wasn't rendered down at all. Friend had the pork belly which looked nice but was very dry. Will go back for drinks as a very cool place but will eat elsewhere.

Id never been here before but it had great reviews online and it looked like a cool spot in Mt Eden. Wasnt too busy but their was only one waitress and she was super busy, but was cheerful and helpful. I ordered the scarlett sour cocktail, it just tasted of frothy egg whites 😝 not very pleasent. My friend and I liked the look of lots of things on the menu but we both felt like ribs. We were so disappointed. They were not really what we had expected. They were short ribs with the wedges underneath and peas and corn on top...a really weird vegetable choice and awkward to eat with ribs. The sauce wasnt bbq at all, it tasted more like spaghetti sauce. While there was lots of meat on the ribs, they were quite fatty tasting.
So we were pretty let down by the food/drink but the service and decor meant our night wasnt all bad.

Have been here a lot. A really nice relaxed vibe about this place. For a drink & nibble after work, lunch or a date it's welcoming & lively.
Menu allows lots of options for small meals, shared plates/platters or a full meal. Everything we've had has been very good but my "must have" is the pint of chips - big chunky agria fries served in an English beer pint pot, now with a kumara option.
Good options for kids as well.

I was there on Friday with few co-workers for dinner, Heard so much good things about the new menu and well-known american head chef with a touch of New Orleans flavors ! with 8 of us we had try to everything ;-) The food was AMAZING ! Beautiful presentation the flavor ... Ummmm so good! I ordered Whiskey marinated scotch fillet with bang bang prawn meat ! LOVE IT .
my colleague ordered Pork Ribs, summer vegi, Tempura vegetables, Jerk and lime chicken and strawberry salad. at the end we shared a chef collection ice cream platter for dessert.. Great night out, great food, good value for money,Unforgettable experience truly! (definitely not like other fancy restaurant you walked away hungry )
we will definitely go back many more times try other items on the menu,'the sea Po' boy' can't wait to try, I had it in New Orleans last Oct. LOVE IT!!.
Strongly recommend to try the restaurant ! Only regret is not taking enough pictures hahaha ... next time.

Have been to this place twice now and have had a memorable experience both times. First time I shared a chicken burger and some pork tacos with the lady. The latest visit was for a large group for a bday. The staff were incredibly friendly and everything was top notch. The kimchi chicken wings were great, the mozzarella balls were awesome and overall I couldn't really fault anything. My highest marks have to go to the cocktail Raceday which is their take on a mint julep. I could spend all day drinking these if i had dre money and my lady didn't mind picking my carcass off their seats late at night. Sigh... Anyways lovely place, great service and food, incredible drinks I can imagine I will be back here soon.

My partner introduced me to this place.

My first experience was awesome! Such a fun menu. They really care about the flavours in their food and while the menu is very American it is without the heavy greasy feelings.

The service was simply amazing

Would have liked to rate this place higher but there were just a few things stopping that -

Polenta chips with relish:
2.5/5 - We found it hard to finish these, the relish doesn't seem a good match with the heaviness of the chips and the chips were quite soggy on the underside.

Tiger Prawn Taco:
2.5/5 - Was expecting at the least regular size tiger prawns however the prawns were very small (smaller than a regular prawn). I would highly recommend some more expense ordering larger tiger prawns to make them the highlight of the taco.

Angus caramelized onion sliders:
3.5/5 - Nice

Sesame Kimchi Wings:
4/5 - Very nice

Willing to give this place another go in the near future.

Great environment and ambience on a Friday night with the live music and lights, great place to catch up with friends with nice eats! The lemonade was a little weird but the sangria was on another level. Would definitely head back for a good chill session with the girls đŸ‘§đŸ»đŸ˜˜

Had the vege burger. It was ok- nothing to write home about. The atmosphere makes this place. I would definitely come back for the good times.

I've been here twice (on a quiet weekday and busy weekend) and on both occasions, the food and drinks never fail to impress me. Just about everything from the menu is delish, the cocktails yummy, and the service - excellent (food was served really quickly, despite the place being awfully busy!). Even the vibe, the atmosphere ... is really cool and 'different' for an old charming suburbia like Mount Eden.

Highly recommended - especially the sliders (burgers were yumm... that meat patty - ehmagerd - tasty as!), polenta chips (still waiting for the day frozen polenta chips can be obtained from your local supermarkets as I have NO idea how to create this delicious grub from scratch!), battered mozzarella cheese balls - so good we ordered them TWICE, and the tempura cauliflower tacos (I'm not a vegan - but heck, I'd turn vegan if I could eat this baby everyday!). Once again, we ordered heaps of main, leaving no room for desserts (which i would have loved to try).

Ahh... next time then!

Popped into this place to have a few drinks with a friend and enjoyed it. I had a Slimms Collins and loved it! It's a very refreshing drink and not too strong. I had the beef tacos which hit the right spot! All in all, a great place to try for pre dinner drinks and snacks. They also offer a dinner menu if you're looking for a casual dinner and drinks.

First a confession: I am obsessed with sliders. I eat them when I go out and I make them at home. There’s something lovely about the sharing nature of sliders and the chance to sample many flavours without the commitment of a burger.

We came to Scarlett Slimm’s and Lucky to for the slider degustation, after I saw photos of it online. There were 4 of us and we arrived late afternoon on Saturday. While they were busy, they weren’t packed. Nice ambience, people drinking with friends and grazing.

I love the design of the place, the cool logo, the white subway tiles, the loft aspirations, the hanging gardens, the pulp portrait etched into the exposed wall and of course, the pulp fiction drinks menu.

The food menu is concise, with gluten free and vegetarian options clearly marked. It is clearly geared up as a gastropub: food to go with drinks. I think the most interesting thing on their menu is that they have an item on their kids menu that that ISN’T deep fried: cheese and tomato omelette with green salad. That is refreshing to see.

We started with a few cocktails then expressed we wanted two of the slider degustations to share between four of us. It was quickly suggested that 20 sliders was HEAPS and that one slider degustation and a bunch of sides would be a better fit for us. We entrusted our order to the kitchen and our server who clearly knew what he was talking about. We were not disappointed.

Along with our burger degustation, we had the mozzarella cheese balls, fries with aioli and spicy chicken wings. The sides were delicious. The fries were thick, handcut chunky potato with a generous dollop of aioli. The wings were flavoursome with kimchi on top. I love kimchi so if you like spice, get the wings. I only wish there were more mozzarella cheese balls as there was only enough for one each.

The sliders came out on a plank the same length as our table. It was gorgeous to look at and so big it was difficult to get all on one shot. There were 5 kinds, 2 of each. This worked out well for us. They were beef, venison, pork, fish and fried cauli. My favourites were the beef and the fish. I would recommend getting the slider degustation for 3 to 4 people.

Staff are quick and friendly, and the service is casual with humour. This is one of those places where you can be confident in asking for suggestions or just giving your choices up to the staff. All our food came at once which was great. We had 2 GrabOne vouchers which took $50 off our $160 bill. Even at full price, it would have only been $40 per person for food and a cocktail. Great value. Happy to return and try other items on the menu or just eat a whole bunch of their delicious sides.

Got a grabone voucher for this place..
Good service
Good ambience
Food was a bit average..
We got lucky burgers with polenta fries
The burgers were a bit dry and we had keep topping up the burger with those bottle tomato sauce almost after every bite
came here because we saw the slider degustation and had to try it. Service and food were good, the sliders had some really good flavours to choose from all equally enticing. the sliders were only just warm when they arrived which was a let down and was really more a snack for 2 people than a main

Came here on a Thursday night. Got a table no problem. Staff were very friendly. We had the steak, which was very tasty. And hapuka with pork belly and coconut rice, which was fantastic. Service was quick and ambiance was awesome. Would come back again.

I used to go to SS&L's when it was the Eden Cloakroom and I think the transition over to SS&L's not bad @ all. The menus are printed on old 50's pics suiting the bars newer identity and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed, for when we were there anyway.

We went on a Fri night @ about 8.30pm and there were a few people but we managed to get the corner nook in the courtyard @ the front.

We ordered a load of expertly made cocktails, my fave being The Wingman, a Lucky Classic and shared some polenta fries, beer battered onion rings and chose our own tacos (2 to a plate). Tasty pub snacks, helping soak up the alcohol from our strong cocktails!

We walked in on a busy Friday night, said we were looking for dinner and we were invited to sit at the far end of the bar - out of bar patrons way but still part of the atmosphere. Good banter between the barmen was entertaining while we looked through the menu.We started with the onion rings which were delicious by themselves or next level with the spiced ketchup. I had the pork ribs where were delicious, perfectly cooked that I could eat them with a knife and fork as the meat fell off the bones. The other dish we had was the fish & chips, the seaweed garnish was a nice addition to the dish for the flavour and presentation.Drinks were also great, especially with barman Casey introducing me to Diplomatico Reserve rum - what a drop! He was very knowledgeable, picking up tips from the recently crowned World's Best Bartender; Sai Hamsala. Who wasn't onsite, he's travelling world promoting Diplomatico rums.

I've wanted to try this place for a while now. I drive past it a lot. We were pleasantly surprised to be told that oysters were on special. 1/2 dozen for $10 or a dozen for $20. Not anywhere have I had oysters at an eatery and for it not to cost at least $4.50 a piece. I was informed that it can be served however I like, fresh, beer battered, baked, kilpatrick, etc ... The whole works. I got them fresh with lemon and balsamic. The balsamic was amazingly aged and reduced into a glaze. We also got the beef sliders and they were a delight. The filling of the beef tacos were delish but the tortilla was served straight out of the packet, so it wasn't nice and soft but dry and cardboard-ish. The special duck burger was interesting. It wasn't bad but, we went raving about it. The pesto and chutney was way too sweet and over powered all the other elements of the burger. It actually took us a very long time to figure out why it was so sweet. Make sure you guys get fries and aioli here. The aioli is to die for! We cried a little when the waitress took our aioli pot away when we still had some fries to dip it into =[

Food: 4/5

Ice mocha: 2/5 (it was watery and bland) it wasn't blended together with ice and ice cream. It was just poured over ice.)

Atmosphere: 3/5 (high chair seating inside is uncomfortable but, seating outside looks comfy. But perhaps not winter weather friendly)

Value for money: 3/5

I bought a spur of the moment Grab one, and popped in to use it with a friend last night!. We were lucky to get a seat...
Great atmosphere in this quirky bar and restaurant. Great service; friendly and helpful without being pushy and overbearing. Certainly wasn't offended when we made some food choices that didn't go with the wine!!
Food was yummy! The two of us shared some grazing plates and tacos. Mozzarella Cheese balls and the Beef Taco were the star of the day for me!

Will certainly come back. Thank you :)

Came here for dinner with a few friends with a GrabOne voucher and we were pleased at what this place had to offer. Mt Eden definitely needed this! The highlight dish of the night was hands down the Jack n Coke glazed pork ribs which was finger licking good- I shamelessly helped pick up the bones to eat it clean! Serving sizes were very generous too, there was plenty to share.

My other friend ordered the Sirloin Steak while the vegetarian ordered the Wild Mushroom Pappardelle. Both were delicious but the pappardelle was smaller in serving size which was a bit gutting as we couldn't share our generous portions with her to help sate her appetite. I ordered the Tuna Salad which was good- again I was surprised at the size, it was a steak sized tuna. Personally I preferred everyone else's dishes to mine- not to say that mine wasn't good, it's just that the others outshone it by far.

This is a great place for a date night with great atmosphere going throughout out evening, we stayed for a quite a bit, even ordering another jug of sangria to keep chatting over because the mood was so good! Next time I'd order the onion rings and the pinto chips- we were situated next to the kitchen and they were absolutely mouthwatering to look at.

The back story:
Ah. The Newcomer. Replacing the old Eden Cloakroom lies Scarlett. And she is one beauty. 1950s styled menus with a menu of mouth watering tacos, sliders, and more substantial items such as the pork ribs - there is something for everyone here. The decor drips 1950s retro - neon lit red signage to the murder mystery style drinks menu (Listing Chapter 1 - to start with - an array of drinks of wine choices, gin, whiskey, cocktails and innocent non alcoholic choices - there's plenty to choose from)

Occasion:
I picked Scarlett Slimms for a date night - nice place to hang out, friendly service ...perfect if you're looking for that place to hang out with someone special without the pomposity of high end restaurants. A place where conversations flow as easy as the drinks.

Food:
Their 2 tacos for $14 specials make it affordable as do their 3 sliders for $18 though the sliders are on the small side. The mains however are worth it; mid range around mid twenties with the most expensive at $32- such as the coke and Jack pork ribs - but definitely worth it in size. The vegetarian options are good too - a wild mushroom papadarlle with roasted pumpkin seeds and ricotta left me yearning for more. I also had a mozzarella ball dish on the side - beautiful cheesy balls rolled in crunchy batter. Mmm. And for the sweet tooth - don't worry, there's a sticky toffee apply sponge and banana split mascarpone that is as mouth watering as it sounds

Revisit potential: 9/10

Can't really say much about the food or drink. We arrived and sat outside, were noticed after about 5 minutes and given water and menus. Our waiter said he would be back to take our orders after giving us the water. We waited about 15-20 minutes with no one coming to the table and decided to leave at that point.

Residing where the old Eden Cloak Room once sat, Scarlett Slimms and Lucky is a funky, fresh and cool gastropub in the heart of Mt Eden. The menus are cleverly presented in a story book format and the dishes on offer range from fish and chips, burgers and salads plus the usual bar snack fares. The open kitchen allows diners to view the assortment of food coming out, and I must say presentation is pretty impressive with even some of the snack foods. Drinks menu is full of variety. Service is friendly, upbeat and a little hipster-esque. The courtyard would be perfect for lazy summer afternoon drinks and people watching. Open for breakfast through to dinner, this place should be on your list as a new place to try out in the coming months.

Scarlett Slimms is a fantastic addition to the Mt Eden strip, bringing something quite different to the table. A friend and I decided to check it out for dinner as it was quite busy and the menu looked very intriguing.

We started off with drinks, and we were pleased to see they have a huge selection of gin based cocktails. The drinks were very refreshing, it was nice to enjoy them sitting in the sun.

We started with the bread and dips. The bread itself was very nice but we weren't too keen on the olive-y dip supplied.
For my main, I ordered the mushrooms and polenta. The polenta was cooked beautifully and the mushrooms were cooked in a blue cheese sauce. The whole dish was presented beautifully.

My friend orders the chicken and barley dish. He couldn't believe how tender the chicken was and overall, very impressed. We also shared some fries.

The service was good, I ended up chatting to one of the girls working there for a while about the drinks. She explained on Sundays they have jazz afternoons, so I think I'll definitely be heading back for that in summer!

Thoroughly enjoyed this place . The food was fabulous. Only downfall was that nobody had come to ask if we want desserts or a dessert menu. We had to ask the waitress
If you drive home along Mt Eden road this is the best place to stop for a beer in the sun. The down side is, since the refit they have rocketed the beer price. So stick to the wine list for better value. The service can be a bit patchy. They do, do great fish & chips.
David Cory Toussaint
More work needed with f&b delivery. Waiters were great and attentive but it took 15min to receive our drinks and when meals arrived the pork was very dry.

Went here for an afternoon drink on the weekend. The staff seem a bit lost, walked in and they all made eye contact yet none of them served us, they just stood behind the bar or were talking to each other but noticed we had arrived. Once seated the staff were a bit more attentive. Great decor and good vibe - hope the service is better next time! Nice addition to Mt Eden!

I had the vegetable tian two slices of tomato and a slice of water melon. Rip off 23 dollars. Awesome cocktails and a pretty good vibe

Nice new renos from the old eden Cloak room. Same friendly environment and service.

This place has the best food, awesome plates to share and mains. I loved the squid, beef skewers and halloumi stack yummo! The deserts were awesome too. The decor is very cool it's a great little place and the service was great too. Will definitely be going back for more.

I really love the new menu and the new fit out.
This restaurant/bar has excellent food at a reasonable price - a great wine list and lovely hospitality.
The decor is light and breezy and the place has a great atmosphere.
A good destination for a meal, or a snack and a wine.
Bring some friends, you won't be disappointed.
