Review &sushi - Auckland Central

Helen Joe
The flavours in the chicken karaage bowl were delicious, the black rice was seasoned well with crisp slaw, Mayo and pickled ginger.
Julia
Nice food and atmosphere. Good selection of sushi inside cabinet but little pricy. Cooked food is pretty good. Had tofu yakisoba and chicken teriyaki don. Both fresh and delicious.

First time coming to &Sushi, looking forward to my visit. The shop is clean & tidy, friendly staff n great presentation as you saw on all those photos on google or other social media. Food: Presentation is great & creative , good for social media. Good display quality. Sushi size is small compare with other sushi place. Taste: fresh @ healthy ingredients. Rice is okie... I may say. The rice just Normal rice. Not the standard vinegar added rice. It seems tasteless for the rice they re using.
T
The sushi was top notch, very tasty made with fresh ingredients and a good variety of choices to boot.

Big portion, the chicken katsu is delicious and crunchy. Kimchi was too salty. The chicken is halal according the sign in their window.

Sushi is a little pricy but delicious! Came here twice and it didn't disappoint. The food presentation is very pretty and the staff of &Sushi are friendly and serve with a smile. Sushi purchased in attached photo was $10. Wasn't a proper lunch tho, went more for a snack. I understand some might argue that this isn't exactly traditional Sushi , but for me no point to complain since I was satisfied with flavour , presentation and service.
BK Song
Great sushi! Perfect foodie for instagram. They have lots of choice from sushi to dining menu. Very satisfied with full of different colours & taste on a plate. The rice was perfectly cooked not too sour. The price wasn't that cheap ($25-$30 for my selection in the pic) but don't compare with big, cheap sushi from shopping malls or chains. Worth the quality!
Isabella Clague
Sushi is always fresh and beautiful. The only downside is that its very, very expensive eg; $3.20 for a small piece of aburi salmon nigiri.
Acelin James
My favourite sushi place in new market. Always top quality ingredients ands a wide variety of sushi compared to other stores. Prices are fair too, especially for the quality.
Keagan Millward
I've only only ever ordered through Delivereasy, so I really need to visit in person! But they're always on time, food is amazing and beautifully presented. Always puts a smile on my face!
Yan
Friendly attractive staff, delicious sushi decorated with interesting and artfully arranged gourmet sauces, a modern and chic interior perfect for a lunch date or just sitting by the window to enjoy some people watching. Most impressive of all was the price - &Sushi was no more expensive than any other sushi place in the CBD, and far more enjoyable.
Kenny Yap
Pretty looking sushi that tasted good and fresh, with good amount of meat. Had some trouble figuring out prices as they weren’t displayed. 6 pieces below cost $13.50 which was reasonable for the quality and aesthetic.

Karaage chicken salad was amazing. Fresh, healthy and very well presented!

Pefert lunch spot in Newmarket. Teriyaki salmon is just awesome. Sushi with yummy purple rice are very yummy. Everything is making my lunch break even better.
Jeremy Freeman
My favourite Sushi in Auckland. Original flavours, fresh ingredients, and attentive staff. Also has a wide selection of bowls and salads. High recommendation!

A very trendy sushi store that offers many healthy option from GF sushi and Vegan sushi and dedicated to making fresh and high quality sushi daily, &SUSHI is a nice place to dine-in or even just to grab a takeaway donburi box. The best place to reluctantly dine around 11, it will get super busy closer to 12p.m. It's good to make use of ordering by phone calls - it saves so much time and you won't have to wait in queue! Great place for a healthy option with great flavor!
Scott Morgan
Normally really enjoy this place but really disappointed with the last visit. Decided on the vegetarian curry to takeaway, which ended up being three spoons of rice and a coffee cup of sauce. Had to search the cupboards for something to eat when I got home 🙁
Rika Berghan
Delicious and pretty looking sushi. Friendly & helpful staff. Loving the donburi
Wayne Gough
Staff were amazing Super friendly Little disappointing we got there at 6:30 to find they don’t serve sushi in the evening?
Nikki Bull
I wish I'd never been :( I'm never going to be content with any other sushi ever again!!! I don't think you could get any better even if you went to Japan! Lovely friendly staff :)

Incredible catering! Every item was so special and looked/tasted divine.

I had to cater an event for a client and gave Jeff and his team less than 24 hours and they pulled it off, they were so accommodating and sushi here is bomb digs!! Thanks for making me look good Jeff in front of my client :b
Karina Sanasaryan
Great and super attentive and friendly service. Amazing tasting and looking food. Addicted!!!!!

As I sit in the car thinking of all of the times I have eaten delicious sushi, I feel an overwhelming sense of disappointment following my first &sushi experience. The boxes of sushi were pre-packed, which in itself isn’t an issue, but the rice was hard, the chicken incredibly dry, and the avocado sparse. To make matters worse, the miso tastes a little like what I imagine dishwater to taste like (not nice).
Gareth
Wonderful sushi selection. Frankly &Sushi is in a league of its own for sushi. A particularly enjoyable experience is getting there around 10.30 am just to see the sushi section perfectly laid out with the most beautiful sushi pieces you have ever seen. A must for all food snappers. Staff are always hugely courteous. No wonder I’m such a regular visitor!

This is my rescue meal from @andsushinz today using @foodprintnz app! It’s such a steal for $7.5. But what’s more important is the cause behind it. The amount of food wastage every year is astonishing and there is carbon footprint associated with that. The recent natural catastrophes have certainly raised our awareness on the consequences of climate change. Small behavioral changes from each of us would make a real difference in saving our planet earth 🌍. I’d like to start with minimizing food wastage and the use of single-use plastic.<br/>.<br/>“Be the Change you want to see in the World!”<br/>.<br/>Now onto the sushi 🍣 can you believe it’s my first time trying @andsushinz? I’ve always noticed their beautiful display of sushi but thought they looked too pretty to taste good? What a fool 😅Although they were bought via Foodprint, the quality weren’t compromised. The sushi pieces were all tasty and very fresh. The only thing that’s not in its tip-top shape is the summer roll in the bottom right corner, the rice paper has hardened a bit. Other than that, I’m super happy with it, it even came with seared scallop nigiri😍super good value!<br/>.<br/>💲Price $7.5 (saved $7.5 and 0.665kg carbon via @foodprintnz)<br/>😋Taste 4.5/5<br/>📍CBD/Newmarket/Takapuna

I finally got to try out &Sushi and found that the sushi they produced was beautiful but fairly expensive ($16 for what I got). I got a salmon/avo with brown rice, salmon/avo with purple rice, 2 salmon nigiri, 1 salmon nigiri grilled, a tamago sushi and the oyster mushroom inari sushi. <br/><br/>One thing I noticed was the rice wasn’t very vingeary which I didn’t really like (hence the 4 stars) compared to St Pierres, the rice was a bit tasteless in my opinion. However, the unique sushi flavours do make me want to go back and try some of them. The salmon nigiri wasn’t very special but still delicious and fresh. The grilled salmon nigiri was so good, the cream cheese on the top made everything so much butter. I prefer the brown rice avo/salmon sushi because of the chew but the purple rice one was still beautiful and delicious. The tamago sushi was very surprising too! The kumara coconut cream on top made the plain rice more flavourful and it was much needed! The tamago was juicy and sweet. Lastly, the oyster mushroom inari sushi was unique and flavourful, the tofu skin on the outside was a bit sweet and juicy too.<br/><br/>I do recommend &Sushi if you prefer sushi rice that is less vinegary.

Beautifully crafted sushi, very nice n simple eating area, been wanting to try this branch for a while, Sunday 20 October 2019.

These guys are great for functions. Beautiful finger food and delicious. Whenever I see them at events I get excited and know it’s going to be a good show. <br/><br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Environment: 4/5<br/>Presentation: 5/5<br/>Food Quality: 5/5<br/>Food Quantity: 4.5/5<br/>Price per person: $10-$20

Everything about this store is aesthetically pleasing. The sushi tastes as good as it looks and service is great. Would def come again.

Nice and beautiful little place. Good sashimi and sushi, the ramen was ok. Super friendly staff, will be back. A bit hard to find parking since it located in a very busy area.

&Sushi exceeds what you’d expect and want from a non traditional sushi place. They’re fricken amazing. The sushi here is famously known for looking hella beautiful and well presented, but looks aside, their food is fresh and yummy 🤤 <br/><br/>Got their pork donburi off their winter menu for takeaway. Very delicious and exactly the kind of dinner/food in general that I enjoy eating, hits close to being comfort food. <br/><br/>&Sushi is one of my favourite places in Newmarket. I’ve been visiting them for years now since they’re so conveniently located. They’re great. Thats<br/>it. How have I not written a review for them?
Gabriel Kung
The sushi are good. However, a bit uncomfortable due to its open kitchen that I saw a staff sneezed in front of the food without covering her mouth or turn away her head.
Nathalie
This place is spot on!! Very modern and such a nice place for a quick meal or a catch up. Their sushi are superb quality, it’s pricey but worth it!! Beautiful plating and you can tell that the owners are passionate about their business. I’ve eaten my food and totally forgot to take a photo! It’s very hard to find a good quality sushi place now days however this one is def must try and it’s very addictive! Will be back for sure!
Doris Ma
We selected a variety of sushi and a pork ramen for 2 people. Their raw seafood were fresh and sweet, and their smoked sushis such as the eel, had a lovely smokey aftertaste. Even the sushi rice had a lot of flavor, not sure what they added to make it taste that great. My favourite would be the salmon avo tofu pocket, the mayonnaise really topped it off.<br/>The ramen broth was seasoned well, but could've been a bit thicker/creamier. The ramen itself was cooked perfectly - not too hard and not too mushy. They served 6 pieces of tender slow-cooked pork belly and a soft boiled egg that was also perfectly runny.<br/>It was a bit expensive for takeaway sushi though, at $45 for 2 people.
Evelyn Chen
&Sushi is my favourite sushi in Newmarket. I love how they are so beautifully made and each comes with an innovative twist of taste. Every time I go there for a meal, couldn’t help but amazed at their creativity.
Michael Chen
Nice location although parking is not very convenient. Though if you work around there it would be pretty good.<br/><br/>Sushi itself is really good. Better compared to the places around it.
Jack Food
My friend bought a box of sushi and told me it is the most beautiful sushi in Auckland. But I don't think so. Compare with Fuku sushi, I think they were too expensive. And soul sushi is more delicious than them.
Karina
&sushi in New Market is the best one!! I've tried different ones and none of them compare to the one in New market. The sushi is presented so well at &sushi - perfect for photos. The sushi is sooo fresh and tastes so good, leaves you wanting more. Everyone has to try &sushi, its AMAZING! Best sushi in Auckland :)))
Hannah Zheng
The food here was tasty and presentation of the food was spectacular! I wasn’t quite a fan of the kimchi one and the clear wrap one but other than that, the rest were enjoyable. The place was a bit small so it did feel a bit cluttered so decided to get it takeaway. All in all it was a clean and tidy place and the workers were incredibly nice!
Lucy
My favorite spot for a quick sushi bite. 3 words to describe their sushi/nigiri: Fresh, flavorful and pretty. A decent range of selections displayed at the counter, quick and easy to takeaway.<br/><br/>The rest of their menus are quite tasty as well. Highly recommend the udon noodles.<br/><br/>Prices are quite dear, but you do get what you pay for.<br/><br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Food presentation: 10/10<br/>Service: 8/10<br/>Location: 7/10<br/>Ambience: 8/10<br/>Price $35 per person
JJ
So fresh and delicious, it’s pricey but worth every penny! The food is presented beautifully, flavored were delicious and great ambience. The bowls might look small but they are actually really filling. I thought we needed sushi but the two of us had to take half the sushi home.
Anastasia Matiatos
&sushi New Market, damn damn damn amazing! My friend and I were both over the moon with the sushi here, full of flavour, perfect for a photo just a perfect experience overall. The sushi might be a bit pricey for some people but it's defiantly worth paying a little bit extra. We highly recommend coming here you won't be disappointed 10/10 x
EM
One of the prettiest and tastiest sushi shops around. Price wise is a bit higher than your usual- but come on you are paying for the aesthetics and the uniqueness of each different sushi! <br/><br/>Service is always great and sushi always fresh whenever I go. <br/><br/>Highly recommend to give this place a try<br/>

Worth it’s premium charge. Very picturesque without compromising great taste. Thoroughly enjoyed all the sushi except for the vegetarian one that I accidentally chose!
Lulu.cullen
If you haven’t tried their chicken katsu don yet you’re really missing out! I also love the salmon don, the cured salmon salad and of course the sushi is good. The look is half of the appeal tho and it’s a lil pricey for what you get.
LuNa The TuNa
It's probably the prettiest sushi in Auckland. Presentation eith flowers and fruits. Makes it looks nice and special also healthy!uber eats can delivery to home so don't need to worry about car park and traffic
Paul
Simply excellent sushi! A variety of types and well presented. Definitely on my list of favourites. Will make this a regular sushi stop when in Newmarket .
Leonie An
I went there on a Thursday afternoon all sushi were gone, so I ordered this Sashimi bibimbap from the menu. It costs $ 21 bucks so I expect some decent sashimi and seasoning, but the sashimi were tiny tiny bits and the portion were small, the rice was undercooked and very cold , I think it must have been taken straight out from the fridge. The sause I got on the side was tasteless it taste like tomato purée, anyway I will not go back again.
Lisa
It’s was my first time at smalls farm, beautiful venue and loved the openness and variety of places to eat. I chose &Sushi!<br/><br/>I wish they had more to choose from, many of the salmon sushi options were gone. But I ended up trying a few others. My favourite is the cured salmon with the radish on the outside mmmmm!<br/>I asked for a small dish to mix my wasabi and soy together, unfortunately the dish was very small couldn’t dip my sushi into the dish so decided to pour over sushi.
Bernardo Jacobi
Nice sushi place to snap out of the same ol'rolls. Quality sushi place where you can choose variety over quantity. I thought it was a little bit overpriced but quality was yum. Tried nigiris of salmon, grilled prawn and grilled eel to no disappointment at all. Was also pleased with okra roll, summer vegetarian roll, and teriyaki chicken rolls. The highlight is the glass droppers to get soy sauce. Staff is friendly and very laid back environment. I would come back, good job guys.
Joy Zhang
A place sushi fans must go!I’ve been here many many times, every time I told myself, should try something new, every time I ended up here lol~<br/><br/>Yesterday, after a long walk, tired and lonely, these beautiful little creatures saved my day. <br/><br/>Rice was a bit hard but that’s just what I like!<br/><br/>I hope in the future it would take all cards payment, apparently now it doesn’t.
Julia Louise
Beautifully presented sushi and chic decor. All the food is clearly marked for dietary requirements and I found staff to be helpful and attentive.
Anna
I want to love this place because the sushi is just so appealing, but a) I’m not the biggest sushi fan and b) this sushi is less tasty to me than most sushi joints. I go here because the sushi is pretty, and it somehow makes it more desirable to eat. I’ve never been overly ecstatic with my meal after leaving here. However, I’ve been meaning to try their hot meals for a while so this review might change soon!
Cormac O&#039;Grady
They have a great range, covering all aspects of flavour and mix it up with some creative spins. Sushi was fresh and tasted great. Although the price point is outrageous and the sushi is very small... not worth the money. There is a lot more sushi places around the place which are on par with flavour but ALOT cheaper.
Lulu
I came here lately for lunch so not many left but it does not matter cause the decoration allures me to pick them up. “We eat with our eyes first”. The flavour is just so so not too bad to cursed but not too good to urge me coming everyday. The top notch would be the radish roll on the top left. The radish tastes perfectly neither too sweet nor too sour. It is a fun experience if the other stores causes boring. Be carefully with the soy serum, I was almost put it on my face. Choosing the one that you never see in other places would be my recommendation. Good for losing weight because the serving is small.
Lizzie
Delicious sushi as always and so beautiful! Also many diff. Options! Especially for salmon which is my favourite! The only slight downfall is that it’s quite expensive but I guess that’s a given!
SuhaylaEkhlasi
Had teriyaki salmon donburi, the salmon was cooked to perfection, had a takeaway box and still was beautifully presented, the price was reasonable and would recommend and come here for sushi again!!
Amit Tripuraneni
So much variety and innovative kinds of sushi to choose from. Great choices for vegetarians as well. Friendly service and a popular place judging by the constant stream of people.
Steamed Hams
The place was very tidy and hospitable. Everything was clean and the music was nice. The sushi was freshly prepared and there were lots of flavours to chose from. The price was reasonable too.
Rebecca
The best sushi I have ever eaten.  So beautiful, creative and delicious! If you are craving sushi - definitely worth it to come to & sushi
Emma Smith
The sushi here is amazing! There’s so many options and it’s super yummy. This place has good miso soup too. Best part about it all is that it’s really cheap for the quality so I love that part. Only thing is that unless you get there as soon as they open there’s like no sushi left 😂
Hannah
I love your quality of food!!<br/>Just a little suggestion on a take away container. The box is not suitable for donburi. If you open the box, you need to cut the top of the box. Otherwise, it really annoys you!!
Jenny Da
I’m very fortunate to work so close to &sushi as they have the best selection of sushi you can find in Auckland!<br/><br/>Whether you have 10 minutes to pop in for takeaway or an hour to sit and chat, this is my go to sushi place for any occasion. <br/><br/>Photos don’t do this place justice, you need to try for yourself!
Afiqah Ramizi
Never disappointed with the unique selection of sushi here! Definitely a must-try place! Love the brown rice sushi with scallops and salmon!
Thenzkiwifruit
The food is great here<br/>A small place but awesome flavour.<br/>We got the teriyaki chicken don and chicken katsu don.<br/>Highly recommended if you're after something light and tasty.<br/><br/>
Lance Law
Amazing sushi! The sushi is so good you’ll probably keep on buying it, just watch your wallet while you do as it’s not the cheapest. Their other dishes aren’t bad but not on the same level as their sushi. When you go in you’ll see all the amazing foods but go for the sushi, it’s &Sushi’s best feature in my opinion.
Carol
Best sushi I’ve had in Auckland. Highly recommend. They have a good range of vege & vegan sushi. Quite refreshing to eat vege sushi that actually has a decent amount of tasty & thoughtfully prepared vegetables. Admittedly not cheap - as ranges from about $1.80 -2.70 I think per piece. But honestly - well worth it as they don’t skimp on the ingredients.
Miss Monkey
Koreans definitely got talent! Love their shops - fresh, busy, artistic presentation, staff are always welcoming, you can see the owner always looks after his business. I prefer their tweaks than boring Japanese sushi. The tofu donburi is my favorite.
Katy Metcalf
Definitely recommend the delicious Teriyaki Tofu Donburi - it is so good! Every time I've been there, the service has been great, too. This was my go to when I worked in Newmarket and still is one of my favourite dishes, easily.
Manoj Patel
Quite a nice, small place. Packed up quick while we were there. Service is quick, food was nice. Doesn't get my 5 stars, told the lady 3 times who took our order no mushrooms in my meal (allergies), yet they still did, ended up swapping my meal with a mate.
Selene Nguyen 🌸
&Sushi always famous for its beautiful sushi and delicious as well. Very crown pleasing! The ambience is vibrant with lovely decorations! 👍👍
Joanna Marie Francisco
Had an early dinner with my colleagues here the other week. We tried almost everything in the menu. Everything was so good especially the Sashimi Bibimbap and Cured Salmon Salad! The staffs were kind and accommodating as well. They helped us with the little surprise we had for our colleague’s birthday. Hats down to the people working in this kitchen, all the foods were well presented and yummy! ❤️ I will definitely go back to this shop.
Sian
I’ve eaten at both branches now and while the food is beautifully presented and tasty it lacks wow factor. The decor is beautiful and it’s a very trendy place but I think this factors into the price too much. If you want healthier, trendier Japanese with high quality ingredients and lots of vegetables this is a great option though.

April 2018<br/>Again, another delightful dining experience served by a delightful cashier. The 6 year old had a good time choosing the array of sushi on offer. We came at 11:30am to avoid the lunch rush and glad that we did. It has limited tables although they have added some sidewalk tables. I had the salmon donburi in a takeout box as I thought I could not finish it but that didn’t happen. Grandfather had sushi as well as a udon! He said it was 5/5. As a group, we thought it is the best cafe sushi that we have eaten. We did try out the toilets which are in need of sprucing up.<br/><br/>My American diner was very impressed with the sushi here. He certainly ate with his eyes as it was a feast. He started of with 5 pieces from the cabinet and decided to go for another 5 plus the tofu which he said was perfection. Can’t get better than that. We arrived just before the lunchtime crowd so we admired the whole crafted sushi collection and experienced very attentive waiting service.
Victoria.gelmi
Yummmmmmmyyy!!!! Both their menu items and the sushi cabinet are divine! I just wish there was more space to sit so I could go with a larger group!
Rosanne Choy
Beautifully presented sushi. Favourite was the inari seaweed one. Perfect combination of flavours. Salmon sashimi on sushi was fresh. Would definitely come again to try their noodles.
KELBEAN25
Beautiful sushi but service is a bit dull. Not thhhaaaat friendly.love that you get as much Soy sauce as you want when dine in. Everything tastes really fresh and such interesting combinations of flavours.
Livia Krstić
Designer Sushi in Newmarket! Looks great and tastes amazing. You pay a bit more but it’s definitely worth it. I look forward to going back soon!
Sakshi Chadha
Definitely the most good looking sushi I have ever had! The place is usually packed so it’s great for takeaways. The most exciting sushi roll was the one with strawberries and cream cheese!
Cesar Luis
Sushi beautifully presented and tasty, great combinations of flavors, family friendly and nice decor/atmosphere, get early at lunch time to get a table as it gets full quickly!<br/><br/>My only recommendation for management is to open tabs for tables, in that way we can keep coming back and order more and more, we were eight including children and had to do four payments, I wanted to have a couple of pieces more but couldn’t be bothered to pay for a fifth time<br/><br/>Apart from that excellent service and food, well done guys :)
Michelle Ma Belle
You Came here with my girlfriends for a quick lunch. This place was tiny and super busy, so make sure you secure a seat fast! <br/><br/>I loved the concept of grabbing a plate and picking your own sushi from the cabinet. There was a wide selection of sushi, and everything was beautiful and delicately presented. Even though I have heard comments regarding this place being pricier than other sushi places, my plate only ended up being around $10. Each piece of sushi was huge, with a generous amount of ingredients, and I was full after just 5 pieces of sushi, so I would say it was worth it! The flavors were also nicer than most franchise sushi places, I really enjoyed the vegetable wrap (has a nice skin and kumara inside!), the teriyaki, and the spiced pork. My favorite was the one with salmon, cream cheese, and avocado - it was absolutely divine!<br/><br/>My friends had the ramen and the teriyaki salmon donburi. I was surprised at how gorgeous they also looked, and the serving sizes were also massive at just around $15 bucks!<br/><br/>All in all, there was nothing that I didn’t like about this place, and I will definitely be returning :)
Heidi
Oh my god this place is delicious!!!! The food did take like ten minutes but it's just so good! I ordered the bulgogi beef udon and the teriyaki chicken donburi. The sauce and broth were both amazing?!!!!!<br/><br/>The seating space is quite small and cozy so get in fast cause it became packed after we entered! Great variety of sushi but they are like $2.50 each so i chose udon.
Riddhi
I have worked in Newmarket for 3 years but only just managed to go over and try &sushi. I went around 1.30 ish and the place wasnt too packed and there was still a good selection of sushi. <br/><br/>The sushi was all presented very nicely. I personally find the price to be reasonable and worth the quality. I tried to pick some more funky flavours rather than the normal ones you can get from stores like St Pierres. My favourite sushi was the spicy pork one which was super flavoursome. The other sushi including inari boats were good but not anything too exciting. I got around 6 pieces of sushi (including inari, and fresh spring rolls) for around $11.50 <br/><br/>Definitely a worthwhile experience, but not something I would go to all the time. I am keen however to try their dine in food

Taste: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕<br/>Interior Deco: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑<br/>Customer service: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕<br/>Recommend: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕<br/>5/5 place! Not only they look good but actually taste good with many selections of common and unusual flavours! Staffs was extremely kind and helpful!!! 5/5 for customer services! Defiantly come back again!

I love how this place offers delivery on UberEATS. Super convenient and handy. The presentation is absolutely stunning and so different to the traditional Japanese sushi. Very creative and unique.
Farah Mohammed
We came her after a friend was eager to go and we happened to be in Newmarket. Apparently it's known for it's creatively decorated sushi, however when we entered there was nothing on display. A lovely lady advised us there was some sushi still left which they had moved to box. We picked a few but also decided to order from the menu, we got the Chicken Katsu Donburi. The sushi was definitely very average and the colourful creativeness is simply for looks. I did really enjoy the katsu. <br/><br/>The restaurant decor is awesome, I love the theme. However I was put off by the customer service. There was one waiter who was super lovely but it felt like she was overly compensating for the other staff member who was treating us as an inconvenience. <br/><br/>I would return to have the Chicken Katsu again but I do hope there is consistent service.
Mun Clair
I had been wanting to try &sushi for months! The pictures I had seen online looked absolutely stunning. I had seen pictures of their huge variety of beautifully displayed sushi so I was very excited. To my disappointment, when I turned up at 4pm, it already looked like they were ready to close for the day. From a far it seemed like they had no sushi! After asking the waitstaff where the sushi was she showed us a small box filled with a few pieces. I was looking forward to choosing from their huge selection, so this was a major let down. My friend and I decided to order from the menu as there wasnt enoihhy sushi. We got the chicken katsu donburi which was delicious! The sushi was also nice, but nothing special. <br/><br/>

So many people have raved about this place and as soon as we mentioned its name - everyone had only great things to say about this place. And I'm glad we finally made it there for a lunch break. <br/><br/>Like they all say, you got to be there on the dot at 12-12.30pm or you'll miss out on all the sushi available! They're super busy. The variety and presentation of each sushi was so different to all the other places out there. Like strawberries + sushi??! What is that?!! But that was a pretty good unexpected combo! <br/><br/>Super creative here and it's almost too pretty to eat! Not sure if I'll ever make it on time again! But keen to go back for more and try their meals like udon 😋
Mr & Mrs Krämer
We came and had dinner few months ago and they didn't have sushi on the counter, but the Donburi was tasty!! This morning we went to get some sushi!! The display looks so good and appetizing .... But wait the sushi actually taste really yummy ... that was a good morning snack 😁
RVEH
Best karaage chicken in Auckland. Their Teriyaki Salmon Udon salad is also really good. They're a bit of the pricey side for sushi and it's hard to find parking but every cent and effort put in to get their food is worth it. The customer service is also the bomb!
®-®-©hin....
Fairly new sushi outlet here, words quickly getting around about this outlet, fresh and fantastically presented sushi and salad bowl dishes, only down side the premise a bit small and queues at peak times, but the products they serve up here worth the wait as they taste as good as they look!!!<br/><br/><br/>
Emma
Great sushi, really nice atmosphere. I like the touch with cardboard sushi boxes to reduce plastic. Decent prices per sushi and has a ton of interesting options, I especially love the rice paper wraps.
I_like_pickles
What a beautiful array of colourful sushi on display! The choices are endless. The most difficult part is choosing what to get!<br/><br/>They also have a sit down menu but if you're in a hurry and just want to choose some sushi for takeaway this is the place.
HelenMeng2000
The food is really nice and looks great. The place is quite small inside and it gets really busy at lunchtime so it may be hard to find a seat. I got the eel don, which cost $18. The bulgogi beef don was $15 and the bulgogi salad was $17.
Neverstopeating (20% Off Zomato Gold Code: NEVE9390)
You'll find the prettiest sushi on a plate here. The shop is small but cozy, really love the ambient. He price is slightly higher but its totally worth it. They have many special sushi that you cant find in other sushi place
Evelyn
Went there for lunch. Love the interior design, love the food. But because it was lunch hour, the shops was bit crowded and loud. But the sushi is still very nice. Little on the expensive side, but very worth it
Santosh Raul
Dined in here for lunch yesterday, very rude staff! I know you are busy but a smile wouldn't go a miss. Food very over hyped and very expensive. Was hoping this could be my new Sushi place for lunch but its a big no for me.
Lo9ve3r 4s
Not a fan. It just looks Instagram-worthy and that's pretty much it. Taste is average and nothing special. Is a bit overpriced for what it's worth

Sushi is a bit more expensive compared to normal sushi shops. Expect to pay around $15 for about 6 pieces of sushi (as at 3rd Sept 2017). Basically, think of it as going to a cafe or a fine dining restaurant where the meals are more pricey but well presented.<br/><br/>Presentation of each sushi is absolutely beautiful and there is a wide variety of choices to choose from including a decent of vegetarian options. Not only is the presentation beautiful, the components are there to add flavour to the piece of sushi. For example, the Inari sushi had 3 colorful mayos on it - a black charcoal colored mayo that is black sesame flavoured mayo, a kumara pureee, and the last one is a purple'ish pink colored mayo which is beetroot flavoured I think.<br/><br/>My favourite piece of sushi has to be the egg roll with mayo and a really crisp pancetta on top. It is definitely reminiscent of bacon and eggs, now that I think of it but elevated by the taste of the pancetta and mayo.<br/><br/>While not every piece of sushi will be mind blowing-ly tasty. There are some standouts while others are more than adequately tasty. <br/><br/><br/>Service is friendly but there was a waitress who looked at me like she seen a ghost. Don't know why, maybe I look scary. Haha. <br/><br/>

&SUSHI in Newmarket is pretty much the most aesthetic and great tasting sushi in Newmarket and possibly the whole of Auckland. You can avoid the lunch rush by visiting between 10~11 and all menu items are available to take-out so make the most of ordering over the phone. At its peak, it's busy and packed because it's very small but you'll get all that time to choose which ones to grab. Dinner times are Thurs~Sat till 8:30pm (please get it right, zomato). @andsushinz

Cosy little place with sushi that looks good and healthy to eat~ As soon as I sat down the waitress came over to offer me a water, very friendly. A little pricey compare to other sushi places, I guess you also pay for the innovation and service.
Stephy_NakiGirl
&Sushi not only has fresh sushi but also hot options too such as donburi. Lots of things to chose from & unique sushi options including charsui pork, charred prawns & lots of vegetarian options too. Really lives up to its reputation. Once you eat their sushi everything else pales in comparison
Ericazhenliu
Great service. But over rated and overly priced. Sushi looks fancy and nicely presented, but taste very average. If I have to compare this with sushi I had in Japan, this place is not even 1 out of 5.
Dxlche
The sushi here is absolutely beautiful. Pricey but worth it. <br/>The sushi is also really tasty and they have soy sauce droppers too. Definitely recommend a trip down here
Mina
Popped in for a quick lunch today.<br/>We ordered a variety of sushi they had on display, which all looked stunning.<br/>The taste lived up to its presentation, tasting better than we expected. <br/>Only downside of our visit is the lack of in store tables and chairs. It took us quite some time to be able to settle on a table.<br/><br/>Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely come back and recommend this place.

Not your average sushi place! I love that they use wholesome and free-range produces. This place show cases a classic Japanese fare with an exciting Korean twist, their lineup of freshly made cabinet sushi showcases interesting combinations. My favourite would have to be the Korean BBQ chicken with kimchi and cucumber. LOVE LOVE LOVE

If you are looking for AVERAGE sushi. One word... MEDiOCRE! <br/>There is much better sushi available. However the only good aspect is the appearance. <br/><br/>Quite overpriced. <br/><br/>Taste is bland <br/><br/>Don't bother going lol! If you're going to be in New Market pls treat yourself to somewhere worth your tastebuds

One of my all time favourite places to eat in Newmarket! So fresh, convenient and filling, plus the food is presented beautifully and the restaurant is light and airy, so great atmosphere. The only downside is that it gets PACKED at lunch time so there may not be any seats. <br/><br/>I always bring friends from out of town here, highly recommended.

First time at &Sushi and it was great :) the sushi was full of flavour and the service was also excellent. Will deformed be back here to try food off their menu as I saw other customers eating it and it looked just as beautiful as the sushi pieces!

Nothing to fault about this hip sushi joint :) Deco is modern and minimalistic, and self-service sushi with a large variety of options, each with a unique twist on the traditional. It's amazing how each piece is decorated so nicely and tastes delicious too! Definitely pop in for a quick meal if you're in the area.

I've been intending to come here for yonkers. Decided to come here after walking back and forth between the alleys of Newmarket on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. <br/><br/>And boy am I glad we did! They had a beautiful selection of sushi pieces in their cabinet. Interior decor is also cutesy yet elegant; minimalistic yet sophisticated. <br/><br/>The girl at the counter is amazing, cheerful and gave us a menu to have a look as well. We ordered the Kimchi Pork Donburi from the menu and selected some from their cabinet. <br/><br/>We were having a bit of fun trying to snag seats at the tables since they are so limited, but people come and go pretty quick so we got a table to ourselves reasonably quick. The sushi was SO. DAMN. AMAZING. I don't know how to describe it with just one word. My favourite would have to be a Black Rice with Salmon and Cream Cheese (the ones with a scoop of sour cream on top!); and the Grilled Eel roll. The Cream Cheese one was a party in the mouth; creaminess and the freshness of the salmon along with a tang at the end from lemon--WINNER. The Eel got me by surprise; tender, with a hint of sweetness and IS TO DIE FOR. <br/>The Kimchi Pork Donburi was so good! We thought it was going to be spicy; BUT they were rich in flavour whilst managing to not be spicy! The Pork was cooked to perfection and their sauce with the Kimchi and the texture of everything--just wow. <br/><br/>When we left the owner (she looked like the owner!) was very friendly as well, wishing us a good day. Nothing I can fault about this little hidden sushi joint; PLEASE GO VISIT THEM! <br/><br/>Price: 9/10<br/>Food: 10/10<br/>Ambience: 10/10<br/>Service: 10/10

I went here yesterday I had three pieces of sushi that where teriyaki chicken, avocado and rice and one piece with steak and purple rice. The meat  in this sushi was tender and had a good flavour. I have a feeling they slow cooked it, the teriyaki flavour also seemed more natural and less artificial tasting than most other sushi I have tried. I will be returning.
The Food Reviewers.
We found this little gem in 2016. Unfortunately it has ruined us from being able to eat sushi from other outlets.<br/>  We love their sushi. We have tried just about every flavour & type they have including the vege ones and their mini rice paper rolls. I cannot fault any of it. It looks beautiful but it also tastes great too.<br/> After dozens of visits here we have settled on our favourites. The tuna roll with purple rice & mayo. The chargrilled salmon on rice. Fresh tuna nigiri style. The egg pouch ones with seaweed salad. smoked salmon outside roll with cream cheese.  <br/>They also do bulk orders for parties, events etc. We have used them twice now for this purpose with no problems.<br/>We feel lucky to have found an establishment making sushi that is beautiful to look at and tastes amazing. For years we have been eating sushi from chain stores and never knew what we were missing out on. Sushi this good needs to be known about.<br/>  The store itself is small. If it is busy its difficult to manoeuvre around. Avoid at busy times is our tip, and go before lunch time if you want to see the cabinets full. We liken it to art gallery sushi.<br/>  They also have a menu for hot & cold dishes.<br/>The staff are courteous, nice and helpful. Always lovely smiles. <br/>Best sushi in Auckland, that we know of. Your welcome.

Best restaurant in Newmarket!!!<br/>If you like Japanese food, this is the best place!<br/>Everything is so beautiful and delicious.<br/>Staff are nice, meal is awesome, atmosphere is good...everything is just amazing.<br/>I had udon and sushi and everything I ate there was super delicious!Love &Sushi!!!

Highly recommend. <br/>Aesthetics 👌. The creativity and detail of the tiny decorations are what makes this sushi store's sushi unique. The bright and colourful presentation of all their products are eye-catching. <br/>Taste 👌. All taste so fresh and amazing. The meat is quality. Sauces enhance the flavour to a higher degree. <br/>Variety to choose from 👌. There's so many different types of sushi to select and this was such a hard decision. Just going once is not enough. <br/>Price 👌. With this quality and presentation, I can say with definite positivity that the sushi is worth it. Approx $12 for 5 unique sushi.
Kaushikc_32
An excellent sushi place, went here for lunch along with my partner. It was very busy, still we managed to find seats. We had the soba noodles and chicken Donburi along with the sushi. It was beautifully presented and was really tasty. I would recommend all to come in a bit early as most if the sushi options were finished by the time we reached( 1:30-2:00). Would surely be back to try a few more sushi varieties.
Chuchueats
Food was legitimately good. The bulgogi beef Udon was delicious and the katsudon well what can I say. Well done team. The only fault I would say is that the seating is a bit of a let down. Space is small and I felt cramped sitting up against someone else and I couldn't even fit which made dining a bit uncomfortable. The only other thing I could say is that the service could be a bit better, I asked for small bowl and got given all sizes? the counter forgot to charge us for the miso and then came over and interrupted our lunch to tell us they forgot and asked us to go pay for it as if we were not going to fork it out? A bit disappointed there.

&sushi is a lovely fusion and sushi place. Good for quick bites & if you are looking for a light meal. I tried a selection of sushi from the bar and the looks did not let me down. Add to this the chilled atmosphere, the lovely service & the injection soya bottle :)

Great new take on traditional Japanese sushis. We mixed it up with sweet and savory. Cooked and raw. They have more variety for vegans also which was a plus. We went in at lunch time and the line was literally out the door wrapped around diners which probably felt a little crowded for them and also a line of Ubereats drivers waiting on orders. Staff were lovely. More of a takeaway shop.

I’ve been to the Newmarket branch twice and enjoyed lovely service and delicious food both times. <br/><br/>Yes, the sushi here is basically double the price of typical mall sushi – but the quality, presentation, and variety here make it easy to justify spending a bit extra. Their eel nigiri is simply amazing, and I like their steak nigiri and purple rice options too. If you get a mix of premium and normal sushi, it averages out to a bit more than $2 per piece.<br/><br/>Their chicken donburi was also great; you get a good portion of high quality ingredients at the standard price for lunch in Newmarket. Even when I got this in a takeaway box, it was elevated to an ‘on-brand’ level of elegance with decorative flower petals – so again, extra points for presentation!<br/> <br/>However, one small frustration I experienced was with how the sushi cabinet functions. When you’re doing self-serve, sliding the cabinet door sometimes prevents the person behind you in the queue from getting the sushi that they want – which is awkward. Maybe they should turn the cabinet around so it’s easier for customers to reach what they want. I also found it semi-difficult to tell how much each type of sushi costs because of how they display the price labels. Perhaps a colour coding system (like at sushi trains) could be useful?<br/><br/>But overall, I’m very happy to have discovered this place and it’s obvious why business is booming every lunchtime. Keep up the good work guys!
Emma Patricia Katili
Best fusion sushi place in auckland. I love this fusion sushi place so much. However, it would be good if they have more seating available in store.
G
This place lives up to its hype!! Such beautifully made sushi that tastes as good as it looks. I love how it's not just white rice used. Lots of variety. Will definitely come back for more sushi or even the menu items. As you choose each one by price, obviously the prices will stack up if you're hungry but otherwise it is a cute little place that gets quite busy in the lunch hours.
Georgia Vossen
I've wanted to go to this place for ages, I have seen the photos they put up on their Instagram and man it looked good. <br/>The place is a lot smaller than I thought and every table but one was filled, and this was during the week. I assume their best seller would be sushi and it is more often than not takeaway, but seeing as it was nearly filled when I arrived it may be nicer to have a bigger venue. <br/>The food looks just as good in person, presentation is suberb. It then tastes evenly as nice. Prices are fairly adverage, but it is newmarket and stunning food. Staff were lovely. <br/>Would definitely come again!

300th REVIEW!!!<br/><br/> I went here one time while I was waiting for my phone screen to be repaired. Decided to get something light, because it was still the morning. And what better to stop at a sushi place. Such a wide variety to choose from, I almost had every flavour from what I saw but had to keep the budget in place. <br/><br/>The people there are so friendly and kind, the warm greeting was satisfying.<br/><br/>Unlike many sushi places you tend to see the authentic Japanese setting with the chairs tables and layout of design. But this one is different, it tends to have a more city setting. From something you'd expect from a café or bakery. It's a different feel I must say, but great at the same time.

Whilst food hunting for all the prime locations in Auckland to try, I fell in love with &Sushi through the pixels of my screen. The vibrant, faultless, 'almost too good to eat' serves of sushi which decorate their Instagram made me certain I had to make a definite pit stop here. This modern, aesthetic cafe with a mix of a Swedish design through whites and beige woods made it easy on the eye, and allowed for the focus to draw to the edible masterpieces.<br/><br/>Whilst their are an assortment of sushi to choose from, each individual shines through and definitely lives up to its beautiful expectations. With a large variety of different flavours; respecting both the traditional take whilst incorporating a beautiful, innovative and modern twist. The prices are also very pocket friendly, and certainly worth the visit.
Benedict Uy
The sushi they had at the counter was all quite interesting but we didn't manage to try any since we ordered items from the menu. I had the breakfast ramen and it was alright. The place is quite small and it does fill in quite fast during lunch.<br/><br/>Would have been nice to try some of the sushi but they are a bit expensive, $3-$5 a piece.
Coco_Clairy
I went there with my friends during weekend for lunch. It was really crowded when we was queuing. The sushi is really beautiful and taste was good.
Christine Yeh
Came here two days in a row after finally having a chance to try it. While the sushi is fantastic (both aesthetically and taste wise) I was also pleasantly surprised at the wide range of veggie options that were far from your average avocado roll. Love the unique combinations of ingredients they use in sushi, it is definitely an adventure for sushi lovers alike. I also tried a dish from their menu - grilled eggplant soba noodle salad which was also very tasty and fresh. One of my fave places to go in Newmarket now!
Jazmin Lee
The place is a bit cramped but very cute! Always super busy. The menu is Asian fusion and slightly over priced but I guess that's what you get with an Asian fusion sushi place in Newmarket. The sushi was amazing! So cute with little flowers on it; the soy sauce in a little bottle to inject into the sushi. The salmon sushi is to die for o m g!!! It's slightly grilled, slightly sweet, I could eat 10 of them!! 😍😍 overall, it's a cute place to eat, I wouldn't rush back here simply because normal sushi at a food court does the trick, but it was a lovely experience overall. You HAVE to try it at least once.
Austin
Tried this for lunch with my daughter. We tried a selection of the sushi, the chicken taking soba (see photos) and miso soup.<br/><br/>The soup was disappoint (watery and not that pleasant tasting) but the sushi and the soba were divine. <br/><br/>Friendly staff.<br/><br/>Give it a go when you are Newmarket.

Thanks to The Denizen, I was super excited when I read that a new sushi bar had just opened up in Newmarket. And even more so to find out that as well as serving modern style and creative sushi, a range of Japanese and Korean dishes were on the menu as well – my favourite cuisines! Plus an awesome beverage list – think Kokako cold brew coffee, Daily Organics kombucha and Cocoloco coconut water. Now, this sounded like my kind of place!
Tina Knight
Love this place, every time I visit the food is fresh and tasty but the service is amazing. I often come in with my baby before heading to the park and without fail the staff are friendly and efficient, offering help and even opening the door for us. Keep it up guys we ❤️ what you do! ✌️️

Having &sushi so close to work can become a dangerous addiction. Dangerous to my bank account that is. Beautifully crafted sushi with flavours that pair so well you wouldn't believe that sushi can get any better. During my lunch time visits the cabinet is always dressed to impress.<br/><br/>The menu also offers a selection of noodles and donburis if you were after something more filling. <br/><br/>There is never a disappointment with &sushi, the staff are always so friendly and food is always tasty and vibrant as always. <br/><br/>
Bella Qian
This place is always so busy! Yet after trying their sushi I could understand why. Their sushi is fresh and of high quality. There is a big range of options available and every sushi we tried was unique and delicious. The place is quite cramped when there are lots of people so try to go when it's not so busy. The price is very good, you are paying the price of Norma sushi but getting fresh gourmet sushi.
Jessica
HANDS DOWN BEST SUSHI IN THE WORLD! I'm sorry but I had to say it in capitals for you to how the feel the impact of how much I love this place!! I wish I worked in New Market just so I could come here everyday and eat this sushi for lunch. So many different flavours and the presentation is to die for. The variety for people who love seafood, vegetarian and meat lovers is great. Everyone should try this place, even if you aren't a fan of sushi, come here. Cause these guys will make you love sushi.
Khloe
Looking at the gorgeous presentation of these sushi, i was thinking to myself that not to expect too much on the flavours. However it did wow me with the freshness and good flavour. Some interesting fusions are worth a try as well, such as the strawberry sushi - yep it is fruit with sushi yet it is yummy. Will definitely come back next time I'm in newmarket.
Wanderlust
This must be the most stylish, creative, and modern sushi restaurant alive! It is super 'cool' in the middle of Newmarket. <br/><br/>The sushi tastes the way it looks. Each piece have small elements that make a great mouthful. Also each piece is different from the other, I think this is often a downfall at sushi restaurants however these guys have obviously taken their time in creating each piece. Not only is the sushi good but their hot meals were superb also. <br/><br/>The staff were nice enough, the restaurant is minimalist and have a lovely spot in front of the window.
Helen Mach
Great flavor in the sushi. So beautifully presented. We went to the city works depot store and luckily got there before the line went out the door! Definitely going back!

Living centrally gives you more excuses to eat out. Unless you work in Newmarket or the city it means you are fighting off others for lunch in the weekend at &Sushi. Relatively new now, I had a quick lunch stop at the Newmarket branch. Wowza it gets busy – don’t expect to sit in there unless you have the time to wait or you are happy to be squashed up to by others. Busy is always a good sign that you are eating at a place that will deliver however in this case I am not so sure. Don’t get me wrong, the variety is more than you will find in any other sushi shop, they bring bright colours and interesting flavour combos. Being the biggest sushi fan, I was really excited to try something new and innovative.
LuciferTSN
Always busy little place, operated I think by actually Korean not actually Japanese which turned me down a bit but the food are very nice. Sushi are so pretty and tasty. They have put in an effort into their food creations. I love this place, definitely will revisit but I am wishing they could expend the shop so I don't have to end up waiting in the line every time.
Pablo Andres Retamales Carreno
I would've given this place a higher score however what I found in my sushi is not acceptable.<br/><br/>Beautiful sushi I must say. Lots of variety and they all look fresh and delicious. Flavors combination are great. <br/>While I was enjoying the raw tuna sushi, I bit on something hard. Unfortunately , It's the tuna fish bone which was still attached to the fish. It's really unpleasant because I almost swallowed it. I've never eaten sashimi or sushi with fish bone in it thus I find it unacceptable. Will I return again? I think I will and I will definitely give my feedback to the staff too. <br/>
Wayne Potgieter
I absolutely love this place.<br/><br/>Such great quality and attention to detail. The variety is absolutely mind blowing and the flavours are awe inspiring.<br/><br/>Its kinda tucked away and hard to find with limited seating, so if you want a good weekday lunch, you better get there early.<br/><br/>I really like the piece by piece ordering style. Its great to just sample the different styles and dishes.<br/><br/>I particularly like the purple rice varieties and the fruit and dessert pieces. Yes, you read that correctly.<br/><br/>I find that I keep going back there....
Di
I have heard this place for a while, finally gave it a go. Had my late lunch around 2pm, but it was super full. I ordered a teriyaki salmon don, which was served with cabbage, ginger and some gluten free mayo. The salmon was very tasty, fresh and flavourful, but I think the rice was cooked unwell

When I visited Auckland back in January, I came across &Sushi – a trendy new sushi joint that had only just recently opened up in Newmarket. But what’s so special about this place compared to the several other Japanese locales in the area? For starters &Sushi is all about that gluten free, free range produce, and sustainable eco packaging lifestyle that seems to be gaining in popularity lately.
Diner8Here
Ok i admit defeat, just lost track of all of Newmarkets Sushi shops. Saw this hidden Gem in the bi monthly Newmarket magazine, therefore  another sushi joint just popped up here overnite. This one my dear followers is the trendiest of them all with trendy diners from i guess nearby businesses here on their  smoko. Yes i came here during the lunchtime and is well patronized and i had what is photographed below, and yes that's a summer roll, not sure what that dropper had, maybe fish sauce. Their items are very colorful and well made. <br/>Newmarket sushis must be one of the most varied in NZ <br/>Read my other reviews on this humble cusine

The presentation of their food is super nice and service was pretty good too. A little bit pricey compare to other sushi place but I think it's all worth it when you sit and enjoy the clean deco around the store and the high quality food they provide. Didn't give 5 because I thought the sushi rice was not flavoured enough with vinegar but that's just my personal preference..would definitely come in for their menu next time..😇

Delicious, a favourite for super sushi. <br/>Fresh, something a little different. Eat in or takeaway. Soy sauce squirts for sushi, a little pricey but worth it!

As I'm writing this, I'm planning my next visit and am wondering if I can maintain a regular weekly visit to &Sushi. I came here for a mid week lunch with my fiance and we got a bunch (about 4 each) of the cabinet sushi as entrees and a beef bulgogi to share. The flavour of the sushi was just amazing! The smoked salmon and grilled prawn was done to perfection with just a hint of smokey-ness, I would definitely recommend that one for anyone who loves salmon and prawn. <br/><br/>The beef bulgogi was also delicious and full of flavour! I could eat it all day every day. I selfishly wish you guys were open on Sundays too, but totally understand that you need a day off.  Keep doing what you're doing!

Absolutely, it's so lovely and pretty sushi. Food materials were fresh and all sushi toppings were very tasty. But I visited there around 15:00, nearly the closing time, so the rice was a little chewy and tough. Paid $19.00 for 8 pieces of sushi. Not cheap but reasonable price. Nice service.
Rose
the sushi was quite nice as the presentation was good. The staff were really friendly and the place was very clean. Would go there again as the prices weren't to bad

I went to &Sushi with a friend for lunch and came in the nick of time before the lunch hour. It was packed after we came in and the lovely colourful sushi displayed at the front looked delish. However I settled for the egg prawn Katsu donburi which cost me $15 and my friend settled for a selection of different sushi at $12.50. Although I thought it was slightly pricey given the size I loved the customer service and the atmosphere I was in. Although the restaurant was rather quaint and jam packed, tucked away on Teed Street I loved the food and the service they provide.
Stu
The best sushi I have had in NZ.  Terrific range and flavours, great service and nice design - a $ back guarantee from me.  Oh, and they also do donburris etc.
Leona Tian
A very neat sushi place but full of flavours and tasty choices! Love their sushi choices from its cabinet - the joy of choosing from such a colorful and wide sushi range! It is a little challenging to get seats at lunch time due to their popularity, but the sushis are so yummy totally worth waiting and every $! LOVE this place :)

First tried this place last Monday after seeing such good things about this place. <br/><br/>Inside, it has the environment of a clean urban cafe, with a case of different types of sushi at the counter, as well as an open kitchen in the back.<br/><br/>There's options for eat in & takeaway, as well as a dine in menu consisting of donburi, noodles & salads.<br/><br/>We opted for self service sushi which were not disappointed, going back for seconds. Everything is so fresh as they make small amounts of each type and replenish as things run low. A must try is anything Aburi/seared with blow torch. <br/><br/>It's hard not to come back with good service, great food and good pricing!
Shell
The most beautiful sushi I have ever seen! <br/>A large range of options, all the ones I tried were absolutely delicious. The place was super busy during lunch but me and a work friend were lucky to find a seat. I will definitely be a regular to this place!

Decided to come here after seeing some beautiful photos on Zomato about this place!<br/><br/> I'm very impressed by not only the food but the decor of this establishment! <br/> Modern and contemporary elements of wooden features and white and black this really resembles a restaurant I'd expect to see in LA or something haha. Staff are friendly and very attentive, I accidentally left my wallet behind and a staff member quickly returned it to me! Thank you so much!<br/><br/> The presentation of sushi here is on point! As you can see in the photos. The sushi combinations here are also really good, the replacement of seaweed to cucumber is really well done! There is generous amount of ingredients in each sushi piece. I really enjoyed my grilled salmon and eel pieces, both pieces held really smoky flavours it was delicious! It's interesting that they add some sort of seeds into the rice, don't know what it is but it's good! Haha. <br/> Ingredients are fresh and well made, very happy with my sushi! <br/><br/>Pieces here are a huge sizes, I had to take several bites to finish a piece, so for an average of $2.50 a piece, you are getting a decent amount of food in each piece of sushi! <br/><br/> Highly recommend if you love sushi, you won't be disappointed!
Sherry
A hidden gem in Newmarket! I'm not a sushi lover, but after dining here, I have to say their sushi is probably the best I've ever tried! They look amazing and taste amazing. Will be back soon.
Bronwyn Koh
Sleek and modern little store, great vibe and atmosphere. <br/>Service was great very attentive but must go early before the lunch time rush fills up the place. <br/>We ordered sushi from the display windows which looked too appetising to pass up. I loved the simple decor and the dripper bottle for the soy sauce. <br/>We ordered a range of choices, my favorites were the raw fish selection - Spicy tuna is my personal fav! <br/>I work in Newmarket although it's a little further from my office, I will definitely be making the effort to visit more often. <br/>

Cutest little place with great looking food but sadly it didn't really stack up taste wise. Is sushi rice that hard to do right ? I think not.

Hidden away in New Market &Sushi is a little gem, upper class Sushi if there is such a thing?<br/><br/>All sushi is packed with flair, flavour and the attention to detail with little herbs and other goodies is a great touch.<br/><br/>Had the Eel & Beef Tataki, Chicken teriyaki don all bloody good! The venue is really modern, clean and funky!
Mikaela Potier
This Devine little place takes sushi to a whole new level!! I'm quite fussy when it comes to sushi, and I've never tasted sushi so mouth watering tasty. So many different flavours that will tingle your taste buds in just one bite! Definitely a 'must' place you have to go to. I will be back!!! xo

this place is awesome! super fresh and delicious food and great service every time.<br/>10/10 really great vegan options too, and they are happy to alter things on the menu :) (from the tall vegan guy who works at T2-you guys rock!)

What a gem- every time I had tried to<br/>Come here it was closed, but finally got<br/>To come by on my<br/>Lunch break today... And boy am<br/>I glad i did. Best sushi I have ever had. I will see you back soon :-)

Stumbled on &Sushi whilst Christmas shopping and was very impressed. I found the sushi to be good looking and perfectly fresh, with something of a Korean fusion going on. Bright modern fit-out. Would highly recommend and will return.
Squigglebee
Their chicken Katsu Donburi is to die for - great portion too, light but sufficient. Perfect lunch or afternoon snack. The sushi they create is so beautiful on the eyes and has the taste and quality to match. Their chef's are classified as artists to me - they have many different types of available and the garnishing is on point. Their wasabi etc comes in different colours and little flowers decorate the food. The actual place is simplistic and elegant. Love it here!
Victoria
Fresh ingredients but missing that something. I'm big on healthy/organic/clean eating etc etc but only if it's done well. &Sushi just missed that flavour punch with their sushi, they looked good but a bit bland, seemed to be low sugar and sodium which unfortunately gives sushi that tastiness. Tasted like fillings with rice and didn't quite pull together. <br/><br/>A beautiful interior and the menu items did look amazing so will give them that!
Kenzi Yee
Been here twice now and it doesn't disappoint. Their fancy sushis are a lil more expensive than your usual St Pierre's sushi prices but trust me they are definitely worth a try, especially with their generous portions. The unagi and chicken inari are my favourite ones - but the rest are almost equally as delicious :) Also tried their yakisoba and soba salad which were also appetising, would recommend getting a few sushi and one main dish x
Foodie
So expensive for what you get!! Have bought the Teriyaki Chicken more than once.. $15 for latterly 4 tiny pieces of meat and a couple of shriveled up veges on a pile of rice which was all stuck together. The sushi looks beautiful but completely over priced. It is a busy place but once the novelty wears off I think people will stop going. Complete rip off!

Food: Sushi was beautiful and they were the prettiest sushi I've ever seen. Kudos on creativity and putting a fresh new look to traditional sushi. Although it didnt really taste as amazing as it looked, the sushi itself was fairly average and had the bare minimum amount of flavour. The ingredients in the sushi rolls were fresh but there wasn't very much of it. <br/><br/>Price: Rather expensive for sushi. About $1.80 a piece, each piece was quite small and a little fragile. Would consider the menu for a wallet friendly option. <br/><br/>Service: Service we good. Just your general at the counter sort of service. <br/><br/>Atmosphere: It is in a very cute modern and homely feel. Loved the big windows and the abundant of light allowing into the place with succulents on the table for that simple but sophisticated touch. <br/><br/>Overall: Would defiantly go back there and give the menu a chance as I think it will give the proper representation of the 4/5 star rating it deserves.

OH MY GOODNESS. I LOVE &Sushi's Bulgogi Beef Donburi!!!!! It's so amazing oh my god. I have a sushi place where I'm a regular... Where I was a regular? But after going to &Sushi I think my allegiances have changed. The interior is so nice and clean and creates such a nice atmosphere to just chill and most importantly, eat sushi. The staff are really good at their jobs and know exactly what they're doing and I really enjoy being able to somewhat see inside of the kitchen and see what the staff's doing! This is definitely my new favourite sushi place to come to as the food's also presented really beautifully!

I had been wanting to try &Sushi for such a long time after hearing such great things about it. I was not disappointed. <br/><br/>I ordered a teriyaki chicken donburi and it was both delicious and presented beautifully. The ingredients were fresh and tasty and the meal was a great size. The only thing I would say could be improved would be the amount of chicken that was in the meal, a few more pieces would be appreciated. <br/><br/>I would love to come back and try the sushi, as it looked equally as fresh and tasty! Love the boxes the sushi comes in, and the sushi is presented excellently. The service was fast and friendly, I love this little sushi place and will definitely be returning when I can

Had the teriyaki tofu don and miso soup- so fresh and delicious. Food came out within 10 minutes. The sushi bar looked amazing - will definitely be back to try- so many colourful options.

Situated in the midst of Newmarket, &Sushi is a contemporary fushion sushi shop which you pick your own sushi and some other Japanese food. Love the atmosphere which has a modern greenhouse feel with bright lights, and plants (mainly succulents) on the table. The sushi looks aesthetically appetising utilising ingredients such as edible flowers. Taste is good in general, although it's not your traditional authentic Japanese sushi e.g. the rice is mixed with quinoa, kimchi & cheese in sushi, etc. My favourite has to be the ingri boat, and teriyaki eel. Bonus for awesome service!

Mixed emotions about this one! Was really keen to go try it after seeing some photos of it so went after my exam around 1 and it was packed due to being such a small area, luckily a couple was leaving just as we got there so we took that but we saw lots of people had problems finding somewhere to sit so you gotta be quick! I got three rice paper rolls which had these cool liquid dropper thingys filled with some sort of sauce, I also got crispy chicken sushi, teriyaki sushi and vegetarian as well. My boyfriend got an assortment of salmon and chicken sushi and also ordered a teriyaki chicken donburi. I thought the rice paper rolls were so delicious but the chicken lacked flavour even with ginger and soy sauce on them which was disappointing, my boyfriend also said that the wasabi tasted like 'nothing'. The donburi was sooooo good unfortunately we were both way to full to finish it all, but would deffs recommend that the most. Overall I would go back here if I was in the area because the food was fresh and healthy and did taste good.

Aesthetically appealing and some different fillings but didn't really impress taste-wise and stand up to some of the other sushi places around town for me.<br/><br/>Beautiful store and very popular with the lunch crowd though. Good for a quick and easy lunch if grabbing sushi.

I was so happy when I heard that a sushi bar had opened up in Newmarket. And even more excited to find out that as well as serving modern style sushi, they also serve Japanese and Korean dishes (my favourite cuisines) and interesting beverage choices – think Kokako cold brew coffee, Daily Organics kombucha and Cocoloco coconut water. This all sounded fabulous!

Love the interior design of the place and very user friendly with a range of tables/bar type seating for any number of people dining together. <br/>The food was really good. I had the Tofu yakisoba and it was lovely - not too salty and a good balance of tofu/vege and noodle. <br/>The staff were great. One point though, it would be nice for menus to be handed out as you walked in as it was a little awkward not knowing whether to line up to order and then having to make your way through the sushi selecting line to place an order. <br/>All in all, it was great and would definitely visit again soon!

Interior design of this place is goals seriously! Love the atmosphere of this place and I tried the chicken donburi which was really nice. Also love the fact that their donburi is gluten free cause you don't find much Asian places that offer gluten free option so for that I'll be back soon :)

My mom &I I had lunch here today. The environment is very aesthetically pleasing. It's very neutral. The food are really good. The servings are a lot and we can't even finish it. It was really good. I recommend it.

The sushi is BEAUTIFUL, the donburi is great, and the chicken is free-range. I am absolutely thrilled to be working so close to this gorgeous place! I'm really impressed with the thought that has been put into making everything feel bright and upmarket but also eco-friendly - the recyclable takeaway boxes are a great move (and obviously I cannot fit in enough praise about the free-range chicken).<br/><br/>The staff are very friendly and there is plenty of seating.<br/><br/>Make a beeline, folks.

&Sushi is the hot spot in Newmarket at the moment and is our work place go to for sushi. Unlike other sushi joints &sushi is something else, and so on trend. The décor is fresh and minimal with some nice greenery features. The staff are friendly and attentive - all dressed well in there denim aprons. We visited during peak lunch time and it was full to the brim, we were lucky enough to get a table. The sushi is very well presented and don't expect your usual white rice and standard fillings, they have brown rice, a range of quinoa and also black rice, many topped with a delicate squirt of mayo or wasabi. Thumbs up to the eco friendly chop sticks and packaging too, which looks so much better than the usual filmy plastic ones most places have!<br/><br/>We decided to try some dishes from the menu - Chicken Yakisoba and Salmon Donburi (both $15 each). The portion size was just right for lunch and the dishes were very well presented. The Chicken yakisoba was simple but tasty. My friend enjoyed the Salmon, however it took them 3 attempts to serve the dish without mushrooms – as requested due to allergies. This was the only let down during our visit but the staff were quick to fix the problem and were very apologetic, even serving us complimentary miso and a 50% off return voucher for my friend. <br/><br/>Will definitely be back to try out there sushi and the charred eggplant dishes - fortunately they are close by to work!

I was so happy when I heard that a sushi bar had opened up in Newmarket. And even more excited to find out that as well as serving modern style sushi, they also serve Japanese and Korean dishes (my favourite cuisines) and an interesting choice of beverages - think Kokako cold brew coffee, Daily Organics kombucha and Cocoloco coconut water. This all sounded fabulous!<br/><br/>I stopped by last weekend for some takeaway sushi. The cabinet was full when I arrived and all the sushi was beautifully presented and had some surprising decorations - edible flowers, citrus mayo and strawberry slices... now this is my kind of place! &Sushi serves a variety of flavours, plus every roll is clearly marked with the ingredients and whether it is vegan, vegetarian or not. I particularly enjoyed their purple rice sushi with cream cheese, salmon, avocado and citrus mayo and the one with raw tuna on top. They also have kimchi in some of their sushi which works well. (I was thrilled to see kimchi on the menu as I am slightly obsessed with it at the moment!) The sushi itself was fresh, tasty and far superior to what you would normally get at sushi chains. <br/><br/>Aside from sushi, you can also order from their main menu - you will find donburi with your choice of protein (including the Korean bulgogi beef - yummy!), and the same goes for the katsu don, three types of noodles, udon/soda noodle salads, plus sides of agedashi tofu and edamame. <br/><br/>And if that is not enough to tempt you, here are four more reasons why you should visit &Sushi:<br/>- The location. Nestled among the vast array of shops on Teed Street, it makes it the perfect spot for lunch after a morning of shopping. <br/>- The space. Minimalist design, with hanging plants and a zebra-like feature wall. It is also clean and light. <br/>- The staff. Friendly, efficient and they seemed clearly passionate about their food. Plus you can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen!<br/>- Finally, their take on eco friendly packaging, where they use fold up cardboard boxes for their takeaway sushi and re-useable chopsticks (I was told I could wash them up to five times - bonus!!!)<br/><br/>To me, &Sushi is the real deal. I cannot wait to come back and work my way through their menu!!!
