Review Bonz Cajun Kitchen - Auckland Central

Chian Day
Tried the BBQ Baby Back Ribs and the Beef Brisket for dinner. The Ribs are definitely worth trying, smoky on the outside and tender on the inside. Their BBQ spice is unique and flavorful so you won’t find pork chop greasy. The Beef Brisket is a safe choice too, but not as impressive as the pork. By the way, most of the restaurants inside Elliot Stables are open from 11 am to 9:30 pm, though Google Maps suggests shorter opening hours.

You cant beat chicken and chips mate. Little dry though, tried to cancel it out with the sauce that came with it, which was alright but not my style personally. Tasted a little.. sour? No wow factor for me but service was polite and friendly and that’s all you can ask for. Chips were great! Nice salty and crunchy combo the way I like em. Coleslaw could’ve been the best in the world and I still would’ve hated it. I’m not a big fan of it so just my personal opinion there. All in all a safe choice for some good old western food!
Rook De Mel
good portion, reasonably priced and tasty... i'll be back, either to eat the ribs again, or try the beef brisket or the jerk chicken.

Came for dinner with friends and was able to try both the Jerk Chicken and the Texas Beef Brisket. The hushpuppies with the chicken was quite nice. It had nice flavour but thought that the chicken was a bit dry. The brisket was really tasty and flavoursome but was a bit salty. The kumara fries and salad did help with the saltiness. The BBQ sauce was really nice.

Their snapper sliders were surprisingly tasty. However the pork sliders were a little bit salty (to me), and a bit too wet to make the burger easily get messy. I would probably go for the snapper one next time. Paired them with their twisted fries and sauce, and it went good, except that the fries were a little bid salty. We also tried the buffalo wings, and its mild spiciness and sour was just perfect for a rainy day.
Matt Gamble
Had some dinner, buffalo wings were yum. Partner got jambiliya and i got the pork ribs. Food was very nice. Good portion size, thoroughly enjoyed.
Morgan Engel
The snapper sliders were amazing. They had slaw, pickles, tartar sauce, and everything balanced really well. I paired with the special fries and they were really good too. Totally would go back and recommend this place.

Very good

Well, I have to say that I loved the jambalaya! I spent months in New Orleans, and I still miss the food years later. At home in Canada, we have all the usual Cajun spices, but not so many with us her in Auckland. We are here for 3 months, so we have time to check out many places, and this place was a surprise. I will say that my husband had the fried chicken and was expecting it to be a little spicy, but it was simply deep-fried chicken fingers and not spicy either. So now I get my spicy jambalaya while he picks up food at another kiosk. If you like jambalaya give this place a try!

Buffalo chicken was great!!
Kevin Barrow
Some of the best buffalo wings i have tried. And their chicken sliders were very good.
K Bulsuk
The portions are simply gigantic, and one dish can easily feed two. While a bit pricy, it does make up for the size. The taste is very good and it was certainly a bit of Americana in the middle of Auckland. Highly recommended!
Barry Hunt
Outstanding. The food is super tasty and presented well. Good portion sizes and reasonable prices too. And the only place I’ve seen that gives you gloves to eat your wings with .. simply brilliant!
James Farrier
Delicious food, especially all fried chicken dishes. Corn bread and hush puppies are pretty average though.
Mick Deane-Freeman
Soooo good...wow thank you for having us we know you wanted to close so worth the trip up from Tauranga...we will be back again!!!
Rosana Duk
We were blown away by the corn bread and the pork ribs! The ribs have such an amazing flavour and they are very tender! Lovely stuff!! Thanks Cajun!!

Usually one of my most favorite places to eat BUT so disappointed tonight. I'm not some one to take something back but tonight I did. It tasted off. Their reaction was to shrug at me and say it tasted fine. Not confrontational so I had to walk away. So sad those sorts of things put you off going back
Chef Cabrera
Great food!!! Highly recommended! No wonder why most of the time there is cue to eat there!! :)
David Johnston
Great food and cocktails, not overpriced. fried chicken and salad is perfection.

First time here, loving the baby back ribs!!! Cannot wait to go back again :)

Never disappoints! Corn bread and jerk chicken, where have you been all my life???

Visited this place for dinner, we had the beef brisket and baby back ribs. Both were good. Texture-wise the ribs were perfectly off the bones with just a little effort while the brisket were good but not that tender. In terms of taste I think the ribs would benefit with a bit more sauce. The brisket might taste more magnificent with a creamy and thick mushroom sauce instead of bbq sauce (just my preference) but it was still alright. Overall spending was $47 which is still good value.

Had a quick visit for lunch yesterday
Good friendly service
Not a long wait
Had the sliders
One Pulled Pork excellent
The Crispy Chicken was not quite as good
But overall an enjoyable experience
And I will be back

I always get their fried chicken sliders, with a side of curly fries. So tasty, right amount of seasoning, and reasonably priced. Food comes out fast, and is always reliably good
Libby
Gumbo is always good, corn bread is also worth a try. Lemonade is great, always purchase, great value for money

Ordered buffalo chicken wings, beef brisket and Jamaican jerk chicken.

Buffalo chicken wings were good but the tart tart sauce was quite plain and watery

Not a fan of their Jamaican Jerk Chicken... too much flavour and tasted really salty for the black coating because of the spices but the inside chicken breast really plain although the meat’s tinder.. and also the hush puppies were pretty average

Beef brisket was okay though, good portion.

Service was quite slow considering the busy Friday night. We waited for 40mins to get our food served.

Had a good dining experience here. Ordered the jamaican jerk chicken. Took a little longer to arrive, i guess because they had to grill it first, but in the end it was worth the wait. The chicken breast was smokey & seasoned well. It was cooked perfectly on the inside, moist and juicy. They had deboned it except for the drumstick bone. Portion was large, a whole chicken breast served with hushpuppies and generous slaw, they complemented each other well. Very tasty. Will be back again to try other dishes!

Amazing food and very friendly staff. Love the Pork Ribs and Jerk chicken, specially the super charger craft beer, great place for dinning with friends.
Will be back again for sure!

The crispy chicken wrap at lunch time is AMAZING! It's so good I have to stop myself from going here every day otherwise I would be huge. Definitely recommend

Came here usually at lunch time for their fried chicken sliders 3 for $15 with kumara chips. The chicken is juicy, crunchy and tender. Orange kumara chips is add on for $5 and seems to be hand cut so quite big in cut sized.

I wasn’t really a fan of the blackened chicken salad. I really didn’t like the salad portion of it but I just really hated the type of salad they used but they can’t be blamed for that.

However the blackened chicken was horrible. They spiced they used didn’t work well together and it just tasted bland. I really wanted to like this place.
Epicure
I like their chicken sliders most. Today it was bit bland and I did not like it much. Curly fries were alright. Giving 3 stars because of previous experiences. I hope next time I will like their sliders like previous times.

This is my 4th visit to the Elliot stables food court and so chose this American theme eatery and ordered the texas beef brisket with wedges, i totally forgot it came with wedges and got carried away and ordered some curly frys too and phewee just manage to finish. The beef was just nice and tender to the pull and blinken rich in gravy too.
Jane Morgon
We had the Southern Fried Chicken, portion was a bit small but it was quite filling after all. Good combo with some curly fries. Nice service! Will come back again :)
Vicky
The food overall was great. I ordered the chicken and chips which was really good but I do wish that the chicken had more flavour to it. My mum ordered the chicken salad which was disappointing to say the least as it’s not exactly worth $12 and the chicken had no flavour and was kind of cold. But overall the meals were pretty good and would recommend eating there.
The Scarfoodie
Great flexible service provided by the staff at the Cajun kitchen. I ordered the bbq pork ribs (for the sole purpose of trying ribs) and asked for extra sauce, half kumura half curly fries, with one piece of skillet corn bread to try after reading so many reviews and they were able to provide.
The corn bread was very decent for a gal who is not the biggest fan of bread. The texture is feminists of dense cake but the outside has crisp edges and the flavor is slightly sweet yet savory and creamy so I was quite delighted. I do have to say I’m a little disappointed that there was no bacon sauce or chipotle butter to accompany it, but I guess that’s just because I ordered one piece, would’ve been nice though!
Glad I replaced half the kumura fries with curly, they were not exactly the fries I was expecting. Personally I wouldn’t call them fries but just kumura pieces as they were soft. The curly fries on the other hand were crisp and decent. Both types of fries were a little bland but alright.
The sauces however made up for the fries. The tomato had a lovely minty taste and the mayo was creamy and tangy.
Now the main; personally I felt the ribs did not have extra sauce but the sauce was decent. The meat was easy to peel off but at the ends of each rib the meat tended to be on the drier side. Not as moist as I would have liked but soft enough.
Coleslaw on the side is average and the mayo was a little watery but it was a nice balance the the sweetness of the meat.
Enjoyed my meal in Elliot stables, but I think I’m still on the hunt for the best ribs in town!
7/10 taste
Emma
Came here for lunch and got the full rack of ribs with cornbread. Service was quick and food was prepared really quickly (10-15 minutes). The ribs were deliciously tender and fall off the bone. The kumara fries were alright, a little soggy but had good flavour. The sauce was also really good. Corn bread was soft and flavoursome. Price was alright but I did split the meal with a friend since neither of us were too hungry
Mmmfood
The Jamaican Jerk Chicken was absolutely delicious - full of flavour, tender and just the right amount of spicy. You can't go wrong with the atmosphere at Elliot Stables, either.
Imperius Malekith
ordered the bbq ribs. They ran out of kumara so used potato for the wedges, yet charged the same price even so kumara is more expensive and tastes better. The ribs were also a bit dry and the serving size was very small. Won't be going back.
Tom Wong
I came here for lunch today and as usual the food is amazing! I got the $12 fried chicken with a side salad ($5 extra to add salad) and curly fries ($6). The food itself is great, however it was a bit pricey coming to a total of $23. The predicament is that this place is situated in Elliot Stables which is an upmarket food court so you can get easily fooled into paying restaurant prices. Overall though it was a great dining experience.

Fast service and yum food. We ordered sliders, southern style chicken, kumura wedges and corn bread - it was all gone within a matter of minutes. Seriously good food from the Cajun kitchen - full of flavour and cooked to perfection.

Located within the Elliot Stables venue, this is a great place to try different cuisines and tastes...well sheltered from unpredictable winter weather for uninterrupted dining.

Had the BBQ pulled pork sliders, with curly fries (!!!) which was pretty good and filling. The people there very hospitable, and all smiles.
Adeline
Unpretentious, WYSIWYG, tasty and reasonably priced. Hard to fault. Great service. Elliot stables has really stepped up with the latest offering of dining options - with Bonz Cajun being one of them.

Hits the spot - fried chicken, crab cakes, curly fries, hush puppies and gumbo - yummo. Highly recommended. I'll come back next time to try the corn bread, blackened fish and grits! ☺
Jay
There's three things you must try here - The Southern Fried Chicken, and the Ribs. Top it off by buying a jug of their home made lemonade to share.

That's all I'll say, prepare for your feast.
Taste
Nice little American style restaurant in Elliott stables. They staffs are very friendly, good service. Highly recommended their BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Jambalaya and Fried Chicken. They also have variety of New Zealand craft beer. Can’t wait for next time dine in.
Danny
Now Elliott Stables has overall fantastic food - so it's hard to be disappointed with anything you order. What's more is that Bonz is easily one of the best spots here. On this particular occasion I ordered the full stack of ribs ($30). The waitress assured me I could finish them which wasn't quite true. It was quite the portion - 2 big chunks of pork ribs (6 on each) with thick cut kumara fries and coleslaw on the side. The ribs were tender and delicious. I would say though that the sauce on the ribs was a bit too sweet and overpowering. Also the coleslaw was too creamy. the kumara fries were perfect and went really well with the mayo provided. Great meal, though next time I might order the half stack!!
Steaksammie
Elliot stables is such a cool dinning experience! Kind of like an up market food court. It had a great vibe and was buzzing on a sat arvo, would be great with a group of people as there are so many restaurants to choose from. We had the southern fried chicken and the gumbo and we loved it!
Whitepanda89
This is one of my regular places to eat at whenever I'm at Elliot Stables. I normally get the jambalaya but thought I'd try something different this time.

The 3 piece sliders were amazing - chicken was juicy and there was the right amount of slaw and mayo in the burger. The kumara chips were salted well and were not burnt at all.

My friend got the fried chicken with the slaw and it was just as good. (We basically got the same meal in different forms lol).

For the sides we got corn bread and hush puppies - again same thing but in different forms so we really only needed one of them. I'm more partial to the hush puppies cause they are deep fried.

Drinks we decided to try the homemade lemonade - it was perfect and had just the right amount of kick to it. One bottle was the perfect amount for the two of us.

If there was one thing I would change, it would be to not order the same meals and try other things on the menu!
Breadzania
The food was really good. We had delicious sliders , cornbread and blackened snapper. Great service and will recommend this place. The crab cakes were a bit too salty but they were happy to replace it with something else for us which is great.
Miji
Their BBQ ribs & corn bread are possibly one of the best comfort foods you will ever come across in Auckland. The Eliott Stables does get crazy busy during the peak hours, which makes you feel like you are dining at some fish market. But the food makes dining in absolutely worth it.
Mnie579
Ordered the southern fried chicken, curly fries and fresh lemonade. I really loved the sauce that came with the southern fried chicken and curly fries but I thought the serving for the chicken with the salad was too small for $16. The lemonade also tasted weird and wasn't cold enough when it was served to us. Also didn't like how we had to drink from small plastic cups.
Rebecca Mcfarlane
As usual we ordered the chicken sliders. We waited half an hour to be served mouldy bread and dry and over cooked chicken. Only realised the bread had begun to mould after a couple of bites. Kindly asked for fresh meal but they refused. Will never eat here again.

First off I would say if you have never been here don't expect this to be a restaurant on its own expect a 5star type Food court with a variety of mini restaurants (about 9 maybe 10?).
Second The young lady who took our order had a snotty attitude complete opposite to the 2x lovely lady's who served our food.
Aside all of that let's get down to the food if u have had Ribs, buffalo wings & coleslaw all the time elsewhere u have a fair idea of what to expect.
In this case the 1/2 ribs weren’t tender but dry asf, coleslaw not thought out properly didn’t enjoy it.
The Southern fried chicken was tender & juicy side salad was to big of a portion for me simply because it was laced with nacho chips so it was a put off.
The Corn bread was good.
The wings tasted exactly the same as the Dominos buffalo wings.
Because of all these great reviews on here we had expectations to at least get the same as them & unfortunately we didn't get that.
Whitney Astrea Choat
I think I've tried nearly everything on their menu and it's all great!!
My favourite would have to be the Jamaican jerk chicken - sooo juicy and tender and quite a unique flavour!
The ribs are also amazing - the meat falls off the bone and the sauce they put on them is really tasty (I always ask for a bit extra!)
They have fresh homemade lemonade which is the perfect accompaniment to their food, or a great range of craft beers if you're after something alcoholic!
Service is always friendly and usually prompt (they always advise you if there is a long wait time when ordering). Prices are pretty good for meal sizes.
The only downside is that it's sometimes hard to get a table as Elliott Stables can get really packed! However if you go earlier in the week, or avoid peak dining times you can usually avoid this!
Definitely recommend this to anyone that's after authentic Cajun food!!
I'm Hungry
Went here on a Friday, in spite of Elliot stables being extremely busy my order was taken quickly. Staff was lovely and service was in time. I had gumbo and jambalaya. I loved the jambalaya but the gumbo was OK. Thanks was great overall.
Patrick Lee
One of the most authentic Cajun cuisine restaurants in Auckland. I can't say enough about how amazing their BBQ babyback ribs and jamaican jerk chicken tastes, they are the must try dishes at this fabulous establishment. The meat is so juicy and tender, bursting with flavour in every single bite; it's absolutely incredible!

If you need to try anything on the side I definitely recommend the corn bread or buffalo wings, or even just a side portion of the jambalaya. The homemade lemonade will also quench your thirst.

Friendly and approachable staff with a quaint ambience really makes this dining experience a real treat!
Puti Morehu
ordered the corn bread, gumbo, jambalaya and the pork ribs, all were so really good however portion size was a little less generous for the cost, nice friendly staff.
Angelo Pereira
Visited Elliott Stables and was drawn in by the ribs that was on offer and it was the correct choice for sure. The sauce was amazing and the meat was just succulent and you can't go wrong with curly fries, great experience overall.
Serge Foodini
Very good selection of odd beers and ciders from local breweries.i usually go there for10$ chicken wrap lunch deal .chicken is very tender and literally melts in your mouth and doesn't taste over fried .
Ryan Wong
Hands down best jerk spice chicken I've had, every bit was tender and bursting full of flavor, the hush puppiesbwas so-so but the coleslaw and side sauce with a side of curly fries made this an extremely filling and satisfying feed. Would highly recommend trying these guys out and see myself coming back again soon!
Carina Chang
They have my favourite pork ribs. it's so tender and tasty, easy to pull apart. The sauce is so tasty. The full size portion is huge compared to other restaurant. it come with chips and fresh slaw. Highly recommend their ribs.
And they served also fast during lunch time, so I never worry about the lunch time limit. My friend prefer their fried chicken. it can be ordered without slaw but we didn't know other dish have it already at the beginning.
Will be back for the ribs again!
Manic Diner
Their southern fried chicken is to die for; the coating was nice and crispy and the chicken was tender and moist. What was good to see is that their chicken was consistent as my friend had ordered the same and loved it. We also had their curly fries and corn bread which were delicious. My other friend tried their pulled pork sliders and kumara fries but found the pulled pork to be a bit dry. Overall though, a good meal. Will have to come back and try their blackened snapper next.
Alisha Patole
Russian Girl (waitress)is very rude to the customers happened with me twice and the wrap was also cold very disappointed with staff the service was not upto the mark.
Foodie
Had blackened snapped sliders , wedges for lunch and not the worst but definitely not the best tasting burger. It's fine but can increase the size of the meal and the flavors.
Ms Jones
I love this place. The food is fantastic. I lhad the fried chicken & chips for lunch. So bad for me, yet so good. The chicken is always so tender too. I've been here for dinner before too & had the blackened snapper. Again, perfection. A little slice of Louisiana in the CBD.
Raymond Tiong
This is the place where I fell in love with gumbo and jambalaya! The portions are not the best given what you pay, but the quality is pretty good so it's still worth trying out. Would be keen to check out more of their menu.
Arvin Raymond Dsouza
The food is really tasty. I have tried jerk chicken, buffalo wings and Jambalaya - it is really good to try if you like southern food. As it is located in Elliott stables, it maybe hard to find a place to sit during peak hours and weekends.
I_like_pickles
Situated in Elliot Stables, Bonz Cajun Kitchen is a cute little kitchen tucked away here.
Highlights for me were the curly fries and the house made lemonade. The lemonade is sooooooooooo thirst quenching and pairs nicely with the fried food. I didn't really like the corn bread.

Had the jambalaya for the first time and loved it! The buffalo wings are tender and I love the blue cheese sauce. I could just eat that on its own.

The baby back ribs were succulent and juicy and the coleslaw was really nicely dressed. The rib portion size was generous.
Rebecca MacDonald
I have been obsessed with the crispy chicken sliders from here recently and their curly fries are amazing. Tonight when we were there they were out of sliders so I had the southern style chicken and curly fries (of course). It was a bigger portion than my usual but just as tasty.
Scentral
Elliot Stables is a great foodcourt with a cool vibe which I like very much. It has a variety of International restaurants which can cater for anyone and everyone.

My personal favourite restaurant is Bonz Cajun Kitchen.

When I come here, I always get the BBQ Baby Back Ribs which also comes with Fries and Aioli, and Coleslaw.

The Baby Back Ribs are always cooked to perfection and the sides compliment the flavours of the ribs so well. The meal is always delicious and that's why I love making regular trips to the restaurant.

Customer Service is also really good and the staff are really helpful. The only downside to the restaurant is the line and the waiting time for the food sometimes which is understandable because the restaurant is so popular. Overall a great place to eat and a must-try if you love Ribs.
Marius Kriek
Was there last night, warm, cozy and buzzing. The ordering amd payment was a bit of a problem as we were asked to order from "the other" window a few times.Ordered the corn bread starter and cajun chicken slider. The bread was moist and sweet. Not sure of corn bread should be sweet?Spring onion was present for an enjoyable start. The sliders was amazing, succulant, boneless delightful peaces of chicken breast,SMALL amount of cole slaw and a hint of BBQ sauce.Apart from the ordering and payment confusion, it was nice
Sonia
Great atmosphere and food ! I ordered the gumbo soup but unfortunately it wasn't as pleasing as I thought it would be :(
but the upside; the curly fries are amazing and the aioli sauce it comes with is heaven.

After a long day at work some gf's and I went to Elliot Stables for dinner. Coming here twice in one week is obviously a sign I can't get enough and want to try everything they have to offer!

Bonz Cajun Kitchen had a bit of a line and it was moving fast so I wanted to try it out and the menu looked so good.

I got x2 pork sliders and a side of curly fries with aioli. The sliders were Ok, the pork was a bit on the cold side but had a nice amount of BBQ sauce and salad. I was gonna go hard and get x3 but honestly x2 did it for me.

Loved the curly fries they were amazing I ate every single last bit of them! Overall the winner of the night was the aoli, I'm a sucker for garlic and it wasn't the type of aoli you get sick of after a few chipfulls... I know they have some secret ingredient maybe paprika ?? That's why it tastes so amazing.

Also good fast service !
Di
Elliot stables is always busy and the food has high standards. I went this American restaurant for lunch today and had 3 pieces of crispy chicken sliders with curly fires on the side, very delicious. I will definitely come back to try other food on their menu.
Emma W
The first thing I liked about this place is the side and main sizes to some of their dishes, so you can try a range of the menu at one time, I love that!

We had jambalaya, southern fried chicken, coleslaw and hushpuppies. Everything arrived at the table rather quickly, which was a nice change because I have had some slow service at Elliot Stables.

Everything was delicious except the hushpuppies, nice to try but I would get the cornbread next time. This is the best place for taste and value in Elliot Stables in my opinion.
Dan
Chicken wings are reheated - and not properly, cold in the middle. Avoid, concerned about food safety standards. You can get much better wings elsewhere.
Louise Harrington
Exceptional, always come to the Stables and often find myself at Bonz Cajun, love the sliders, so quaint and tasty! Service is always great too, keep it up :)
Donna&Shane
Elliott Stables is a great busy place to come and eat as there are several restaurant/places to choose from... Great for s group...We have come here a few times and always get something from this place... The jambalaya is tasty and the sliders pretty good.

Went here for dinner tonight and after a single bite knew I had made a great food decision. I had the Jerk Chicken (pictured) and it was soooooo good. The flavors were awesomely creole and the breast itself fabulously moist. My partner had the fried chicken (not pictured) and it was soooooo good also. Honestly great food, especially if your a fan of proper southern food. Absolutely 10/10. Would go back again in a heartbeat.

Came here for a quick bite before heading to the casino. Elliot stables is a bustling little food alley that is always busy. The prices are cheap and the servings generous but the food isn't fantastic. I ordered the pulled pork sliders from Bonz Cajun Kitchen. The pork tasted processed and lacked flavour and the BBQ sauce was very overpowering.

Best Jerk chicken I've had in Auckland!
Highly recommend if you are craving some.

There's not much to choose from the menu so I chose the jambalaya. I loved the flavours in it. It was not too salty not spicy so it was edible. Customer service was average but they were polite.

A friend and I were looking for a flavour full lunch yesterday and we definitely found it get Cajun :-) I had the salad wrap with curly fries and my friend had the chicken salad. Both were full of flavour and very filling. Will be going back:-)

Great food and good beer. I've been lots of times and never disappointed. The staff are friendly and happy. My favourite is the fried chicken :)

We came here last night (NYE) after wanting to try Elliott Stables for ages! We ordered drinks and mains from another restaurant but picked here for the starters. We ordered the chipotle chicken wings and the cornbread to share. The dishes took quite a while to come but they were definitely worth the wait! The wings were great - juicy and tender chicken with a tasty (if not slightly hot) chipotle coating. Great portion size too - abut 20 wings in total - so more than enough to share between two! We'd definitely order these again and try the original coating next time. It was our first time trying cornbread so we had no idea what to expect. It was less buttery than we had imagined (definitely a good thing!) and more cake like (also a good thing!) It was soft and tasty and a wonderful addition to the wings to cool the mouth down! A nice addition would be a side sauce to use for dipping, but it was lovely nonetheless!
We loved Bonz and can't wait to visit again! The ribs, chicken and jambalaya sound amazing and we will certainly be trying them next time!
Musings Of A Foodie
Their slidders were def the highlight for me. Crispy juicy tender chicken slidders. Price range is not too bad either. Baby back ribs were good and easy to pull of the bone & if you are not a fan of their kumara fries you can sub it for the curly fries. Love love they have Arizona Tea drinks! They have vegeterian options also & for the fish lovers the blackened snapper is a must try. It is not a place to take someone on a first date but nice place to go for lunch friends or your significant other. It is a place set up as food court part of Elliot Stables, perfect for the indecisive foodies. Will def be back.

Food: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Had the Cajun chicken and slaw, chicken breast was a little dry but overall it tasted great. Elliott stables is a fun vibrant place and a great idea when you don't know what you feel like.
Richard J
Great place to eat have tried the sliders and they are all great
The jambalaya is excellent in fact all of the food here is different and really tasty
The staff are happy and a pleasure to deal with I love the place
Samantha Lines
We came here fairly late in the evening on a Thursday and loved our food. I ordered half a rack of ribs and swapped the wedges for curly fries. I was really happy with my food. There was a generous amount, the coleslaw was fresh and the ribs were tasty. The curly fries and aioli were amazing.
I got myself a ginger beer but my friend ordered the homemade lemonade. I didn't see it as an option anywhere but if I had, I would have got it. It was $5 for a big bottle that served two of us with a few glasses each.
I love the look of The stables and the dining style is fantastic.
I'm definitely going to come back to Bonz to try their chicken as it looks fantastic on my friend's plate.

Went to Elliot Stables for the first time with friends last night and I love the set up! What a cool idea. I had the crispy chicken sliders and a lovely wine from this place. It was delicious and fresh. Perfect serving size. I'll be back to explore soon!
Ridad
Love this place. Amazing value for money. I have tried pretty much everything on their menu and my favs are the buffalo wings, southern fried chicken and the curly fries. The ambience at Elliot Stables is great and the fact that others can grab things from different places makes this a great place for group hangouts.
Amit Tripuraneni
Best ribs in town. Go for the full rack as it's great value for money. Comes with nicely done orange kumara and nicely balanced coleslaw. Quality has always been consistent and it's my fail safe indulgence. The chicken wings have a nice kick to them and the southern fried chicken is very delicious as well. A real gem.

UPDATED:
The service has gone downhill. The wait staff now fluctuate from being good to indifferent to downright indignant, depending on who you get. Very disappointed on how far it has fallen. I used to rate it a 5 star.

2nd Update:
The service has improved and new dishes on the menu too. Good job on the revamp and listening to customer feedback.

Hmm what can I say, everyone seems to be raging about this place for awhile. However the food quality is good, but when weighing size and price not so much. Went with a two other friends of mine, ordered a full rack of ribs and coke but all ended going straight to all you can eat Korean bbq straight afterwards (ate for about another 2 hours) . The atmosphere was nice, like being in at a fancy food court with mood lighting. Pretty much just order your food and sit and eat.

Cajun food was the goal so this place was my target. It is located in Elliot Stables which is like an up market food court. I had the crispy chicken wrap with buffalo sauce and curly fries. I really enjoyed it with the buffalo sauce nice and tangy and a nice crunch from the chicken. Curly fries went down very well with spot on seasoning. A nice place for a Cajun lunch.

The fried chicken is just amazing at this place. Loved the food. Cannot comment on the staff because this is not a dine in kind of place but the people who served were kind enough. If you want to try fried chicken with chips then this is the place to stop by
Ruby Jilani
I saw the snapper sliders on the menu and just had to try them out. I am really glad that I did. So really good. I wanted some more but they had closed the kitchen like 10 minutes after my order. The homemade lemonade is a treat too.

The 1st time we came here ribs were to die for!! So we thought we would do it again for fathers day...2nd time it was average- we got full rack of ribs and mine was dry but the boys were okay.. Service was the norm food court service.
Shelly
Came here on a busy night and ordered the Cajun snapper sliders and the Southern fried chicken, portions are average sized, none the less I enjoyed the food. I also ordered their home made lemonade, the bottle was so sticky on the outside which is something I hate... The lemonade was waaaaay to sweet, wasted my money because I didn't even drink half the bottle.
Jess
Very impressed with the Southern Fried Chicken. The chicken remained soft and moist on the inside while retaining that crispy coating. It came with a side salad that added a nice freshness to balance out the fried chicken. BBQ ribs were also pretty good, though I didn't find them amazing. Overall nice atmosphere, would definitely return.

This place has amazing ribs. The most delicious ribs I've had. They're served with a delicious coleslaw and home made fries.
The skillet corn bread was also very good. Slightly sweet and a really good texture. Definitely couldn't finish it all though!

I wish I saw that they also had lemonade but they were on the lowest shelf on the fridge. Will definitely go back for ribs and to try the lemonade!

My go to place at Elliot Stables
Sliders are amazing.. oo their curly fries are too good!!
Jambalaya is very rich
I want to try the crab dip next time..
Table For One
Even though I always browse the restaurants at Elliot Stables I usually end up at this place.
I just can't go past their fried chicken and curly fries. As basic as that is the quality and portion sizes are great and the food is served quickly.
The last time that I was here my friend ordered the crispy chicken sliders and she loved them, they looked good to me.
Next time I should probably branch out.... the jambalaya and gumbo sound delicious.
Hannah
Came here on a busy Friday night and ordered the Southern Fried Chicken with Salad, Pulled Pork Sliders with Kumara Wedges and Curly Fries with Aioli. The staff were very friendly and it didn't take long for the food to arrive. The chicken was absolutely delicious - really crunchy on the outside but still moist meat, a really nice ranch dipping sauce and a delicious salad (which was more of a coleslaw but went well with the chicken). Also loved the fact that they use free-range chicken. The sliders were also just as tasty - really soft slow cooked BBQ flavoured meat with coleslaw on very soft buns. Loved the curly fries and kumara chips with aioli - both cooked perfectly. I'll be back for more :)
House Of Eats
RIBS, WINGS & PULLED PORK, what else can I say - this place is the shizzzz! Serving up Southern food that is super tasty and delish. Dont forget to get your 1ltr homemade lemonade for $5 bucks people - this place has large portion sizing. So you truly get a bang for your buck!!!!!

Elliott Stables is a great place to stop in before an outing in the city - my friend and I came here prior to a NZIFF film screening and found ourselves finding a table outside Bonz.

We shared some buffalo chicken wings, curly fries and BBQ pork sliders. When I ordered the chicken wings I ordered medium (the lowest heat for the chicken) even though I don't mind a bit of spice. I'm glad I did though - our server told us they'd have a "bit of a kick" and they really really did! I got to a point where I didn't want anymore as I found them too hot so I wonder what the hotter varieties are like!

The sliders were nice although I would have liked more crisper coleslaw accompanying the meat and sauce, and you can't really go wrong with curly fries.

Service was good and they kept up on a rainy, busy night.
LouLou
Just love the sliders and kumara wedges for lunch - succulent crispy chicken or melt in your mouth BBQ pulled pork or a combination of both - you can't go wrong. Watch out for the lunch time specials - their chicken wrap offered at $10 on my last visit was by far the best value for money lunch deal in the area.

Elliot Stables on a Saturday night is busy and bustling and isn't the greatest in regards to atmosphere. It's difficult to find a table, and you have to squeeze past people.

However, I don't think it's fair to mark down Bonz Cajun Kitchen on the environment it shares with at least 10 other restaurants. Yes, Elliot Stables in like an upmarket food court and one of the restaurants inside it is Bonz.

I first came across Bonz Cajun Kitchen because of their homemade lemonade. For $5 you get a jug of delicious homemade lemonade which you could easily share with someone else. I would 100% recommend this lemonade.

I tried the food from Bonz very recently and was quite impressed. Usually when I go out I make a point of trying international foods rather than stuff like burgers and chips. However I felt like something simple so I decided to give Bonz a go.

I ordered the Crispy Chicken Sliders with Kumera Wedges. I got 3 sliders and wedges for $19. I like how you have the freedom to mix and match at Bonz. You can have 2 sliders, no chips or curly fries instead of wedges which is nice if you're not too hungry. I found my portion size to be huge and I saved some for the next day.

The sliders were delicious and well seasoned. I would definitely get them again, and I think the meal was reasonably priced.
My partner got the buffalo wings with spicy sauce. They were entree sized for $12 but was quite a large portion. More like a light meal. He asked for something inbetween mild and spicy but was told that wasn't available. The spicy was really quite spicy. We usually like spicy things but this wasn't a nice sort of spicy. He found it difficult to finish the plate. It came with a blue cheese dipping sauce which wasn't necessary because of the sauciness of the wings themselves.

I'd definitely come back to Bonz for the lemonade and I'd consider having the food again. My dish was really nice, but it is difficult with all the choices at Elliot Stables. It would depend what you were in the mood for. A nice place to go for a cheap meal though.
Jemimah
Ate here last night, ordering the baby-back ribs, gumbo and hush puppies. As always, staff were friendly.

The ribs were as always, very nice with nothing to complain about. In our minds, we were imagining mini has Browns as hush puppies, not knowing they were cornbread. However, they were still delicious especially with the sauce provided. The gumbo however was a let down. It has a bitter flavour, tasting very dark as well as a bit burnt. On the plus side, the sausage was very tasty. Would recommend the jambalaya instead.

Bonz Cajun Kitchen is always popular. Just wouldn't get the gumbo again.
Annie Ren
Didn't even know this was an American restaurant but the jambalaya was amazing! Was a little disappointed with the size as I expected their $9 "sides" to be bigger than a typical dips dish size. Overall, the quality of the food was top-notch. The rice was cooked to a soft texture in a really rich, tomato-like sauce, mixed with prawns and sausages! It tasted so good and I couldn't help but going back for more!

Elliott Stables for dinner last night, pre Bic Runga and I decided to try BC's Jamaican Jerk Chicken w. Hush puppies, coleslaw and curly fries w. aioli. It was really good, the chicken was moist, the hush puppies went really well w. the chicken and curly fries were crispy and not too oily. Definitely a great pl to dine @ in a group.
Eden Milliken
The best crispy chicken sliders in town, also the cheapest. Would recommend to anyone looking for classic American sliders plus a side of the famous curly fry :)
Aucklandfoodlover
Went on a busy Friday evening. My partner wasn't particularly hungry but one look at Chicken sliders and curly fries served here changed her mind. I had bbq ribs. Even on a busy Friday the turn around time was descent. Curly fries were at the correct level of crispness. Ribs were well marinated and cooked to the right amount.
Verdict : Will try again.

Had a girls' date with three of my friends. To be frank, the soup actually is just so so and it is not worth the price ($18). The service is just fine and the environment is pleasant.

Arguably my favourite eatery within the Elliot Stables precinct, Bonz Cajun Kitchen always hits the spot for a tasty, warming meal.

After taking mum to 'Singing in the Rain' I introduced her to a taste of the Caribbean by ordering us the Jerk Chicken. The meat was spicy but not too spicy and fizzed with a freshness that is so unique to this recipe. The hush puppies and slaw complemented the dish perfectly and made it a moreish experience. Wash it down with a Corona and you have a perfect post-show or concert meal in the wonderfully atmospheric Elliot Stables.

One word, yum!! When I come to Elliot Stables, I am always drawn to Bonz Cajun Chicken after my first feast there. Delicious food, full of flavour, all the meat is cooked to perfection. I've had the ribs, fried chicken, Jamaican chicken and the snapper sliders and they were all amazing! I would highly recommend this place.
Annette Wong
I had the buttermilk southern fried chicken and kumara wedges. The chicken was crisp and the meat not dry. Quite nice tasting but their aoli and kumara wedges are to brag about!

Never have I ever had kumara wedges/fries made so perfectly. So crisp on be outside and utterly creamy and soft on the inside

Their aoli was flavoursome with a bit of zing.

Id definetely recommend the kumara wedges!
At Elliot Stables you are bound to find something to suit everyone's palate, but in my case, I'm always overwhelmed with the choice and my indecisiveness gets the better of me.

We settled for Bonz Cajun Kitchen as we walked past and caught some tantalising, tasty aromas, and spied the jerk chicken at a nearby table.

We had some trouble deciding, but the waitress was patient and happy to chime in with descriptions and recommendations. We put on our table: Southern fried chicken with salad, jerk chicken with hush puppies, kumara wedges and a bottle of homemade lemonade.

The fried chicken had a crispy, light batter, free from the taste and drip of oil. The chicken was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked inside. The jerk chicken was the same, the chicken breast had no faults. The coating was full of flavour, spice and texture, and had a lovely smoky taste too. The hush puppies were fluffy in the inside, not stodgy, and both salads were a fresh accompaniment to the dishes. I could have eaten serving after serving of those kumara wedges. The homemade lemon was a sweet addition, however it needed some tartness and more ice to be more refreshing.

Elliot Stables has a fun, bustling atmosphere similar to hawkers and food courts but in much prettier, classier setting. We left happy, satisfied and keen to go back for more on the Bonz menu.
Richie
Pretty good for the money. Great selection of beers. I had the jambalaya as a main and it was okay without being fantastic. The meals aren't large though. My partner had the jerked chicken and again the serving was pretty small but it did have a chili bite. He said it was underwhelming. The place itself has great potential as there are plenty of choices to eat from.

This place just keeps getting better and better! Last time I dare to try their super spicy chicken wings and they were AMAZING!! highly recommended!! I'll be there soon! :)
Eli A
Love the food here!!! I have tried the gumbo and the jambalaya and loved them both. I especially like that if I ask for a spicy sauce, they give me a blow-the-top-off-my-head spicy sauce!!! Is it pricy? Sure, it's in Elliott Stables, they cant help it. But the food is completely worth it. Please open a branch elsewhere in Auckland as soon as possible :-)

I had the blackened snapper - delish ! Mouth watering bites, which was the perfect size for me with a nice combination of flavours. I also ordered the large bottle of home made lemonade for $5 to share with all. The great thing with Elliott stables, is everyone can order from whichever restaurant they prefer on the night, including drinks and have at the same table in a communal space.
Alex
Bonz is a stellar place to eat, smaller portions allow you to sample lots of different dishes on the southern flavoured menu. The staff are generally friendly and the pricing is very affordable. Definitely recommend you give this one a go!
Justin Pearson
We had our second meal at Bonz at the weekend. Our son had the pulled pork sliders, we also had the ribs and Gumbo.
All were really excellent. Fall off the bone tender ribs and the depth of flavor in the Gumbo was amazing.
Reshma
This place has the best fried chicken in Auckland. Tried the Southern Fried Chicken with Ranch salad dressing yesterday when I went with my friend Anup Choudary . The chicken was so tender and perfectly fried. It was not very crispy but tasted really good. The Ranch salad dressing went well along with that. The food arrived in 3 to 5 minutes after it was ordered even though it was a busy Saturday evening. Best American eatery in the city.
Thefoodloverrr
My friends and I went there for dinner at about 7.30pm, even though it was crowded, we managed to find a vacant table. As this place was recommended on Heart of the City Metro cheap eats, we decided to give this place a try. I checked the reviews on zomato and decided to order the recommended southern fried chicken. My friends ordered the lamb ribs and the blackened snapper. We also ordered the kumara wedges and the curly fries as sides.

The southern fried chicken was too dry and plain. In my opinion, that dish is way overrated but I loved the salad that came with it. The curly fries and kumara wedges were good. The blackened snapper was too small for the price and it was quite raw. The lamb ribs and coleslaw were good and worth the price. The lamb ribs was the only meal that satisfied our tastebuds as the meat was soft and nice. However, the other dishes were not up to our expectations.

The added feature to this place is the tv screen that displays the pictures of each food on the menu. We found that helpful as we were not familiar with some terms used in the menu. On top of that, the service was good as we were served quite fast despite the huge crowd.
MissEstherZ
Hmmm. I'm sorry but I don't understand the other reviews for this place. I had a taste of my cousin's jambalaya who I was eating with, and ordered the southern fried chicken. Jambalaya was... I'm really sorry, but very ordinary. My southern fried chicken looked and the coating tasted like it was burnt. Won't be eating from here again.

First time at Elliott Stables - Such a cool place.
Decided on Bonz as it had good reviews and the menu looked amaze!
firstly great value for money, really generous servings.
Started with the cheesy crab dip and corn chips - so tasty. I had the half ribs (which defs was plenty!) and mum had the southern fired chicken. Both were delicious and the accompanying salads/coleslaws ere so good. Unfortunately my ribs were only warm and colled very quickly. Happy that i got a finger bowl though :)
All up pretty good and service was nice and quick. limited drink options but thats the beauty of dining in a food court!

Went for lunch today. Super busy but food came out pretty quick. Not going to repeat the thread as my review is As per all previous reviews - place is pretty damn good. Full rack of ribs and fried chicken hit the spot.
Phil Neill
Went for an early dinner last night - food was excellent! To start we shared buffalo wings (awesome spicy tangy sauce) and the Cajun crab cake which was also very good. For mains we had the jambalaya; full of prawns, chicken and sausage - very tasty! And the Jamaican jerk chicken which was perfectly cooked and served with a generous portion of coleslaw! Washed down with their home made lemonade in the nice surroundings of the vibrant Elliot Stables food court made for a pretty perfect meal! Would definitely return if I was staying in the Auckland area longer!

We came here for lunch the other day and were pleased to see a lunch specials menu. I had the chicken and chips which consisted of their Southern fried chicken served with curly fries. The chicken was crispy and tasty, the dipping sauce was delicious and the serving was generous. I did enjoy it, although would have liked to have something a bit fresh on the plate, as I personally found it a bit greasy. Perhaps the chicken wrap would have been a better choice for me. One of our group had this and liked it. Another of our group had the jambalaya and skillet corn bread. He thought it was good value (lots of prawns) and tasty. The corn bread was light and sweet.
Overall, a decent meal at a decent price - I would like to go back and try some of their other dishes such as the buffalo wings and jerk chicken.

When I first moved back from America years ago, the one thing that was lacking was the variety of Southern American and Mexican establishments available and I am always on the lookout for anything that might resemble the dishes that they have over there. I had read a review on this place on the herald and thought 'yay!, I must check this out!'. When I got around to it it was exactly what I had hoped for and more!

The jambalaya is by far the best I have ever tasted and the Buffalo wings are a bit on the small side but are packed full of flavour and the right flavours too (so many places get it wrong!). I had a mix of 3 sliders of pulled pork and chicken, at the end of it I wanted more (but couldn't cause I was so full!).

It is a little pricey but when its that good I just don't care. Between the two of us with sides and lemonade will set you back the same price as going to a normal restaurant.

Its located in Elliot Stables which is just a fancy food court but has a great atmosphere. If you want good Southern American food it honestly is the best place to go!
Keri
Whenever I'm in Elliot Stables, this is where I choose to eat. Everything I've tried there I have loved. My favorite would have to be their ribs and corn bread. Also get their homemade lemonade! Service has always been wonderful.
Keith
I was really looking forward to eating here and so I ordered about half the available menu. Southern style cooking is about feasting right?
The chicken wings were fantastic with a sweet, spicy sauce. The Jerk chicken was juicy and flavorsome and of course curly fries, curly fries are always great. Best of all was the Southern fried chicken. So much flavour, that's how the Colonel should be making it!
The corn bread was a bit sweet for my taste especially when paired with the homemade lemonade but I think they're both worth a try.
Value for money was good, $65 for a lot of food between two people and you can't beat the atmosphere of Elliot street stables on a good night.
Chris Baldock
I'm one of those annoying people who has spent some time in New Orleans and so holds any attempt at Louisianan fare to a high standard.

These guys nail it.

Excellent (and authentic) tasting gumbo, fantastic ribs, spicy jambalaya and delicious savoury-sweet slabs of cornbread. The curly fries, slaw and sliders are also all spot on.

To top things off, there is a pretty decent selection of beers to help wash all that comfort food down.

Try hitting Elliot Stables (where Bonz is located) early in the week so you don't have to fight your way through the crowds.
Fleur Peps
RELEVANT TO MY NOMS.
This place is just fantastic. I will list the good vs. bad for you.

Good =
1. Homemade lemonade for $5? uh, yes please!
2. Chicken wings / buffalo wings that are actually spicy? YES!
3. Ribs are amazeballs
4. Curly fries in a mini bucket, so right.

Bad =
Nothing really, my only gripe is with Ellliot Stables being so blimmin loud and hard to get a table. Also, the cobblestones don't work so well after a coulple of wines. Aside from that - this place is a fave!
Ann Appleton
Food was great. Would have appreciated being informed there was a 1/2 hour wait when we ordered. We ordered blackened fish + 3 fish sliders & curly fries. When the meals came, there were only 2 fish sliders. We mentioned this to the waitress (the same person who took our order). Her response - ‘I’m pretty sure you only ordered 2 but I'll check.’ She returned to tell us we had indeed ordered 3 & that she’d be straight back with the 3rd. Had to wait a further 8 minutes for it.
David Parussini
Finally got to try this establishment after reading these positive reviews..I had an awesome gumbo and shared some very tasty chicken and pulled pork sliders plus the Ribs with the kids...food wasn't overly spiced, possibly toned down for Kiwi palets?
If I had to be picky, the only let down was the initial service from one of the girls..the place opened 15 mins late, not a major, however how she informed me - no apology, smile, etc and like we were a hindrance - was disappointing..the positive, however was the great service received later from a young guy there.
Will definitely head back here to try other items on the menu.
Jesse James .
The crispy chicken wraps advertised on the board out the front are just amazing. Often my workmates and I will go there and all order the same thing. It is a bit on the expensive side, but its a complete meal and just delicious. They also sell a home made lemonade which is so nice.
$10 for a crispy chicken wrap, but it's honestly worth it. Also expect a long wait, but as I said, it's worth it.
Kiri
I probably go here too much, but the food is addictive. My goal is to try everything on the menu and I'm half way there. To sum up this place in one word "Amazing" love love love the Jambalaya. Just go and try it out, you won't regret it.
Jasmijn Liekens
Absolutely delicious Cajun style food! We tried the Cornbread which was really flavorsome, crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, the Gumbo- tasty chicken & sausage stew with rice, packed full of veggies, the beautiful Hot Crab Dip- really creamy with big chunks of crab, with corn chips on the side, the Jerk Chicken which had a great blend of spices and was really juicy, and the best bit- 2 Pulled Pork Sliders which were served on a soft rich bun and sweet sticky sauce.

Well worth the visit, we will definitely be back!
T Pritchard
I've eaten here a couple of times and I really love the fried chicken. It's boneless but so tender, crunchy and tasty. The ribs are great also and the prices are really reasonable. Look forward to my next visit.

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday and decided that I wanted my special meal to be from Bonz. I had been there a couple of times previously for ribs, which are amazingly good. This time I wanted to sample their other mains. When I explained situation, they offered to prepare me a sampler of their menu -- some of almost everything. I call that great customer service. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the prices are quite reasonable. The two styles of chicken were wonderful (actually, three styles counting the wings). My only disappointment was that the crab cakes were not available - I'll be back to try that. All of the sides are tasty as well. I cannot recommend Bonz enough -- it's a real treat.
Sachiv Mehra
Had the $15 slider lunch special.

Food took ages and we were there before the main lunch rush.

Worst part is let's say a slider is $5 each for what I considered to be a really small slider, there isn't $5 worth of chips on the plate.

For $15 other shops in stables will feed you far better..
Service was OK but value for money on their lunch special it ain't. The sliders about 1/3 the size of a cheeseburger from mcD
Alex Whisman
I work near the Stables and often enjoy eating here. Bonz is one of my 2 favorite places to eat when I go to the Stables. The service is always top-notch and friendly, ready with suggestions and eager to answer questions. The food is the tastiest and freshest I've had in a long time when eating out. I was worried everything would be spicy, but this is not the case (although they will spice it up for you if you want heat). The Southern Fried Chicken pieces are tender, juicey and flavourful.

I had the bbq crispy chicken sliders today and washed it down with a root beer float made with Kapiti ice cream--Excellent for an end-of-year lunch treat!

I arrived there as part of a group, they misplaced my order and when I queried them about the order, the incredibly rude staff blamed me. No apology, just asked to leave or order something else. I felt like I was in a Fawlty Towers episode, verbally abused by none other than Basil Fawlty himself.

Please stay away and spare yourself poor service and abuse from the staff.

My response to Robert A's version of events:

I did not ask for a free meal or "rant and rave". Why would I as in your own words state "One person in the group your supervisor as he was paying for everyone ..." so I didn't need to pay for the meal anyway. I was expecting an apology but was instead met with an arrogant altitude and rudeness from your staff. Readers, please refer to the review from Ashley M. below who also experienced rudeness from one of the staff.
It's always busy at the Elliott Stables because it's so good. Our favourite is the Cajun Kitchen. Genuine baby back ribs. Simply fall of the bone and the best Gumbo chicken in the World! Bar none!
The price is great and you can get an ice cold beer at any of the other cafes inside. We finished it all of with Apple pie and ice cream from the dessert shop. thoroughly recommend.
Ashley McClain
I thought the food was great but the service was terrible. The woman at the counter was rude and made me feel uncomfortable ordering! She also told my friend that he ordered something he didn't and sat it down in front of him twice expecting him to eat it and not receive what he actually ordered.
What a shame because the food was great but now I don't think I will ever go back!

Went to Elliott Stables for the first time last night with my partner for dinner- we had a deal voucher to use. The whole place was packed and we were SO GLAD the waitress who served us told us there would be a 30 min wait for our food and also informed us that they were out of quite a few items on the menu. We left and decided to go back today for lunch. We had Jamaican jerk chicken, southern fried chicken, corn bread, curly fries and 1 Litre of lemonade. Easily the tastiest food I've had in a long time. Portion sizes were generous and pricing more than reasonable. We were both very impressed with both food and service. I'll be taking my sister down there for lunch next weekend. great stuff!!
Ed
It was our first time to Bonz and tried the Jambalaya which was tasty. But the best dish had to be the Jamaican Chicken which was very well marinated and tasted great. We would like to return and try other specialities like the ribs.
Peter
Excellent food, been there twice.
Had the Ribs, crab cake and corn bread. Must say it was the best meal I have had for the reasonable price there.
I was served by the young chef and he doesn't deliver a quite friendly customer service, very cold. The girl that works there is very friendly though.

Overall, best meal in the area
Susan Bromley
We haven't been to the Stables for ages - but popped in for a dose of welcoming atmosphere and saw this place had opened. Checked out the menu & our first impression was 'this sounds great food for an amazing price'. We had the Jerk Chicken (soo tasty) and the tuna salad with twistie fries - Yum! Yum! The tuna 'salad' is actually little tuna bread rolls - like tiny burgers - which may confuse some people (in the USA the things they mix in with the tuna is what they call a 'tuna salad'). We were so impressed we told the guys we would give them 11/10 for price, service, uniqueness of the food and definitely the taste!

It is so great to find a place that serves up immense value for money with the added bonus of unique flavours and delicious food! Excellent!!

Two words Jerk Chicken, you have try it! Since spreading the word a out this great little spot it seems my friends love it too.

Can't wait to try the crab cake next time. I love the concise menu, what they do, they do well and they regularly change the sliders for a bit of variety.

If you are tired of all the pretentious places serving up the same stuff, go and get a taste sensation, which is completely different to anything else around town.
Christy
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the stables but it closes too early.
Amazing food. Cornbread was sweet & hot. Baby back ribs were good but I have had better. Great prices - $34 for full rack of ribs with fries & slaw, cornbread & drink. Has great potential but needs a little more on the menu.
I will be going back :-D
Andy Williams
I have been to the Bonz Cajun Kitchen 6 times now and wow I am never disappointed by both the price and the quality of their food. They are a great group of people and the service is great.

Can not give these wonderful people enough praise anyone interested in great food and a fantastic atmosphere should visit Bonz and enjoy :-)

Thanks guys will see you soon :-)))
Jess
Wow this place was amazing and well priced we had 4 sides and 2 mains and 2 Drinks for $68 baby back ribs, southern fried chicken and corn bread a must !! Atmosphere of Elliot stables is awesome Will defiantly be coming back for more

I have been to Bonz 3 times now and I highly recommend it if you are looking for something different that's affordable and super tasty. I am slowly making my way through the menu, but its hard to get past the tastiness of the Ribs and the Jamaican jerk chicken. All I can say is if you are wanting a cool dinner out that won't kill your wallet this is it, Elliot Stables is a wonderful setting with a guitarist playing and fantastic BYO area making an atmosphere that will have you raving to your family and friends and no doubt dragging them to Bonz yourself!! Can't wait to go again :D

I had always wanted to try corn bread and jambalaya and finally got my chance at Bonz Cajun kitchen :) I got the lunch special which was only $12!! A great place to go for some great soul food.
Frank
Best southern fried chicken and coleslaw in town by far! This dish is always cooked perfectly, tastes amazing and never fails to amaze me...!
