Review Blake Street Cafe - Auckland Central

Owners Andre and Shelly do an outstanding job of making clientele feel welcome whilst providing delicious food and coffee. There are preserves and jams available to purchase, made by Shelly’s mother. The indoor plants lend charm yet the decor is modern. One of Ponsonby’s hidden gems.

This Cafe has fantastic food & service. The Owners, Andre & Shelley make lovely breakfasts, freshly made juices, chutneys, sweet slices, savouries, salads and have an extensive menu. Also coffee, teas & wine available. Very popular with the Locals & their dogs woof woof and return visitors. Parking also available. Very dog friendly woof woof.

What a fab cafe this is, so good it is always my go to knowing the coffee will be 10/10 and the food will be absolutely superb, never faulters. They preserve there own chutneys of all variations which are available to buy, tasty and diverse flavours. Can’t rate this cafe high enough not only for the food and service but the cosy size and atmosphere run by an experienced team.

I love this husband and wife run cafe. Today had slow cooked lamb on a bed of pasta with a slice of sourdough bread, Perfect. My lunch companion enjoyed a beautifully presented smoked salmon bagel with green leaf salad. After 15 years Blake Street Espresso has a comforting feel

Lovely cafe owner, great food and good coffee. A hidden gem of Ponsonby, used to go to Didda but got put off by their arrogant and rude staff, so Blake will definitely be pur new favorite cafe place. Keep you good work guys!!!!!

This is quite a find. Great coffee and a menu of breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon tea. Situated around the back of 3 Lamps and behind Glengarry on Jervois Rd. Corner of Blake and Prosford Sts. Friendly staff deliver great service with a smile.

Tucked away from the pretentiousness of Ponsonby Road is this lovely little cafe - the coffee is "best", the food is yummy and the service is friendly and warm. You can't go wrong with this one - great place for brunch and did i mention the coffee is super?

I've been to Blake Street 2 or 3 times for breakfast and each time it's been good. The menu has some standard breakfast dishes plus some different dishes like bubble and squeak with chorizo. Blake Street is worth a try

Coffee needs more work. Ordered a soy moccachino - it tasted rather bitter.. hmmm. However, the french toast + banana + bacon + maple syrup was passable (although I must say the bacon was rather burnt around the edges). Service was okay, the male owner was rather friendly, but we were quick to notice that he wasn't accustomed to honouring bill discounts - it was always followed by some sorta 'comment', this time, it was "oh, it's one of those again, isn't it?" (referring to our entertainment book voucher). <br/>Which is really odd - is such a negative response even necessary? Of course we would use the discount - we bought the entertainment book for a reason (spent a good $60 on it too). Makes me wonder why do business owners decide to advertise their services in the book in the first place if they are so particular about giving discounts. Odd.

Don't see a reason to go back - especially with those great cafes just around the corner. Altogether everything was quite average. The warm food we had ordered was there within 2 min and a croissant with butter took for ages. The warm food must have just been chucked into the microwave and that's what it tasted like too. The side salad didn't really deserve its name as it was just some greens with bits of raw onion and dressing. My stomach was also rumbling a bit afterwards, but not sure what in particular it hadn't liked.

Our experience of this cafe was a bit of a shame. We really enjoyed everything that the cafe provided up to a point.<br/>The food was great with strong, hot coffee.<br/>We came to this cafe because of the review from the herald. We were happy with everything up until we came to pay.<br/>At the moment it's a real treat having breakfast out at a nice cafe. We use the entertainment book when we can and so that's what we did today.<br/>The response from the owner when he saw the voucher was "I could use that voucher but I won't and I don't have to" he went onto say "you come back again and you can use it"<br/>If cafes don't except your voucher well maybe they need to think about if they want to be part of the Entertainment Book.<br/>As for the owner the review has obviously gone to his head!A real shame.

The paninis were yummy, and the coffee was hot and strong (just how I like it), the only letdown was the very average green salad, (mostly iceberg lettuce)

Because this place looks nice and relaxing, I've been sucked in a couple of times to go back there. However I have never had such terrible service as I consistently have at Blake St. You are ignored when you walk in, are left hovering uncertainly by the counter, or if you sit at a table are ignored for up to 15 minutes.<br/><br/>They clear the plates at empty tables around you instead of taking your order, the owner is snippy and distracted and slightly rude even when they're not busy.<br/><br/>So if you go to Blake St, make sure you've got time to spare. You'll be waiting a while.

I stopped to pick up some lunch on my way to work. I was running late and saw a sign for it so thought I'd try it. I paid $12.50 for a very average sandwich - one quite frankly I could make at home. I was going to get a piece of chocolate brownie too but the cost of that would have brought the grand total to $18.50! Won't be going back, I won't pay that much for something that I could make at home and it taste a lot better.
