It is lovely and warm and the owners are a lovely couple. I have been healthy with an egg cucumber bun but also indulging in a cheese and onion scone which I have to say is excellent. The coffee is supreme and they make a very nice coffee. Well worth a visit.
It is November 2018 and back again. I just had some really yum scrambled eggs and bacon. And a lovely soy flat white highly recommend Expense $-$$

On recommendation of a local, my partner and I went here. Really enjoyed the experience. Great decor - love the mix and match approach, that was tastefully done. Love the food, real homemade kia, but well prepared. Coffee was nice, and it gets five stars because service was top notch. Looking forward to going back.

Yes, you can get good coffee here but the food should be mentioned. They offer many healthy options, meals that feel wholesome and also some sweet treats. I've always found the staff friendly and I like the atmosphere of the shop too.

Great little cafe. Very tasty and reasonably priced food with a lot of variety and a good selection of organic free range and gluten free options. Lots of quirky stuff to catch your eye on the walls and a heap of reading materials from daily papers through to a full set of enclypedia to browse through. Well worth a visit.

Wholesome soup of broccoli, corn & spinach with five-grain toast . . . stunning espresso - smoothly mellow and lasted a good couple of hours. Unobtrusive service and relaxing ambience. An unpretentious gem.

One of the best coffees in Papakura (Coffee Supreme) but disappointed that they automatically put our three coffees in take out cups - we didn't specify, but they didn't ask, and we clearly went to sit at a table after ordering.

27/06/2020: Recently 'All Tea Teatime' posted a very negative review re Mottletop. My reply to 'All Tea Teatime' is: 1) if you can't post a positive message, then don't; 2) suggest you go to McD's, KFC, Wendy's or another coffee and food provider more your style

This is the most amazing place. And best of all it is in papakura. Well thought out establishment. Friendly staff cool theme and superior coffee. This is my local place to get my coffee fix. They have an awesome Baker you will be tempted with the amazing range of cakes, muffins and beautiful club sandwiches. Would highly recommend this to all coffee lovers.

No service. Staff were only concerned for their conversations amongst each other. Watched what appeared to be a staff member on their day off stand there eating hot chocolate marshmallows out of the jar with his bare hands. Coffee was forgotten but when reminded was made and kindly given a brownie as an apology. There was a jammed packed tray of dirty crockery, cups and cutlery stuffed in the corner next to our dirty table which staff just kept walking by. On exit no staff were to be seen. Was curious to see what this cafe was like and can safely say I will not recommend or return.

This was my first time at Mottletop as I have recently moved into the area. I was pleasantly surprised to be introduced to such a lovely place with a easy, laid back atmosphere. It was certainly pumping with the amount of people who came through there.
I would like to thank one person in particular (I found out his name) Dylan. Your service was extremely good and might I say, even under pressure, you kept a clear head and was very polite and accommodating.....thank you and I shall be back.

Demanded our money back after waiting just on half an hour for 2x coffees - and they didn't forget as we asked several times where they were after 15min wait. Hopeless service, cafe was hardly full, lady behind counter seemed intent on first serving takeaway coffees to customers who ordered after us. Very disappointed as they sell a premium brand of coffee which we now drive to the city to get - otherwise they would have our custom being just 3min down the road. A real shame.

Lovely place to have a bite to eat. My partner and I got a mushroom and spinach eggs Benedict and a chicken and cranberry bagel. The Benedict is the nicest we’ve had around here and the bagel was really tasty.

Have been here several times and always had good service and food. This time was not as busy as it has been but still a few tables full. Empty plates had not been cleared from tables despite staff walking past with empty hands. Ordered ham cheese croissants, coffee and tea. Coffee came out first with tea pot. Eventually had to ask for a tea cup. Croissants were out of cabinet and were cold and took a long time. Highlight. of mottletop croissants in the past was the gerkin but this was a very small thin piece in both croissants today. Disappointing. Looks like we may need to find a new Sunday brunch spot.

Salad is great. Flat White, very seldom to have such good coffee taste. Cheese scone is with some onion chops inside. Yummy. <br/>Just the price is a little bit high. But worth to try.

Great little spot in Papakura. Quirky decor & odd chairs & tables that don't match which adds to the atmosphere.<br/>Coffee nicely made. Had a pear & bran muffin on this visit, but usually have their housemade mince on toast. Well worth ordering if you like that kind of comfort food. The porridge & corn fritters are also really yum.

AMBIANCE: Honest and homely. Family kitchen feel with natural woods and exposed brick. This is one of those cafes that is miles away, but everyone makes the journey to it anyway because it's so good. At least that's what it seems like..<br/>SERVICE: Friendly and prompt. Onto-it staff makes the process glide.<br/>COFFEE: Bean brand used is 'Supreme'. Top notch. One of my favourites and found throughout top level cafes in Wellington. The milk was a little over cooked but I'm not complaining with the standard of everything else going on in that paper cup. <br/>FOOD: Displayed across the counter elegantly. Freshly baked items were delicious. A main meal wasn't ordered on this trip. <br/>PRICE: Very reasonable for the quality.<br/><br/>OVERALL: I will return. This place would make a great 'regular' for the locals. Worth a weekend trip for those further afield.

Papakura suffers a severe lack of decent coffee places. My wife and I usually drive 25min out of Papakura - past around 12 other cafes - to our favourite coffee place. We had heard mixed reviews about Mottletop; but that they served a good coffee so decided to try them out one morning. The place wasn't busy by any stretch, we placed our order and sat at a table outside. After watching several other people come in after us and go with their takeaway coffees while we waited, I enquired as to where our coffees were. The reply was that it was still coming. After half an hour of waiting, we went in and grumpily asked for a refund. <br/>I don't mind waiting for coffee - 10 minutes say, and I will happily wait longer -and understandably - if the place is busy. However having to wait half an hour, while other people come and go with theirs, while it is quiet, is totally rubbish. Great customer service is so hard to come by these days, and it is a surprise to find an independant cafe offering such lax service. One would think that they would be trying their hardest to make a good impression on customers, especially non regulars, to keep them coming back. So it looks like we will continue to drive 25min to get great coffee, receiving it within 10min even on a very busy day.
