Review Raw Power Cafe - Auckland Central

Timothy Lucas Tan
This was kinda my first foray into vegan food and I must say it was amazing! And trust me, coming from a meat lover, I think it says quite a bit. Put it this way, it was so good that I actually came back a second time. Jimmy the owner was helpful with the choices and real friendly. Can't go wrong here. Thanks again Jimmy,! See you when we get back to Auckland!

Amazing smoothies! We didn't get a chance to try the food but it all looked really good and healthy.
Emmanuel Beaufils
Very good Cafe with vegetarian and vegan options. Nice place to be and worth to go. Had the tofu burger it was lovely.
Hayley Courtenay
Amazing food! Loved every but of it. Large portions. Very busy and loud.

Nice little cafe on the busy Vulcan lane food court area. The menu comprises of mostly healthy stuff and majority raw ingredients. The serving size is generous for the prices. Lots of options for vegan and vegetarians are available. The staff is nice and friendly. The place can get busy in the lunch hours. Only drawback is the location which is on the first floor and stairs are required to reach there. Well recommended nevertheless.

I have only been to this café twice but on both occasions the meals have been delicious. Today I had the Vegetable Pie which was jam packed with pumpkin, broccoli, carrots, peas and corn and topped off with a slice of brie. I also had the Vegan Carrot Cake and it was amazing. I was super hungry and wanted something really filling and tasty. I am neither vegetarian nor vegan yet thoroughly enjoyed it and left feeling satisfied but light at the same time after what was a large serving. I will definitely be back :-)

Great vegan options and atmosphere. Order at the counter. We had a nice table at an open 2nd floor window overlooking Vulcan. Very pleasant Tofu burger was excellent with avocado and mushrooms and I liked the pumpkin curry soup. Clean restrooms.

Came here on a weekday morning and it was pretty quiet so we were served pretty fast. I ordered the big breakfast and a berry juice and really enjoyed it. Appreciate the vegetarian and vegan options, super delicious and would definitely recommend

I have been visiting this place for almost 3 years now... and they have amazing vegan and vegetarian choices... Most favorite is self served salad bowl ... great lunch options... Definitely a loyal customer 😊
Jordan Woodhouse
Really good food. Had the scrambled tofu which I recommend. Strange name to say most of the food here is cooked. The place has a bit of an island vibe which is okay and in a good location. Top notch that they are open for breakfast. Reasonable prices.

Wow really yummy recipes all vegetarian food should taste this good!! Great location overlooking Vulcan lane & nice decor. Menu slightly dated circa 1990s (think carb heavy, spirulina drinks etc). Service can be patchy obviously is just a business not a passion for the new owners. Still a must check out for vege heads! :)

Amazing food. Great vegetarian dishes. Delicious smoothies and drinks. Very friendly service. I don't miss out on a lunch here when in Auckland. Highly recommended

Terrific vegan vegetarian restaurant wonderful hard working staff. Best restaurant in auckland. I’m amazed it’s not busier but from a selfish perspective it’s fabulously peaceful

What a find! Lovely healthy food. Loads of choice and great service. Very popular too which must be a good sign!
Brian Chen
Amazing vegan and vegetarian options. Food is very tasty. Meals cost between $15 to $20 per person and very good portions

Found this place online when I was searching for a cafe that had a vegetarian menu. I ordered their pancake and a mocha. The pancakes came out fast and they weren’t short of flavour.

The tofu burger is a stand out must have! A delightful and satisfying establishment - especially if you manage to score a window seat overlooking Vulcan Lane.
Lizzie Clarke
Really good portion sizes. Veggie breaky and homemade hashbrowns with creamy mushrooms were both really yummy. I wasn't such a fan of the blueberry smoothie, it was a bit on the bland side. Would definitely visit again for the great veg/vegan food!!

The 'Pumpkin & Corn Fritters' are very yummy :) have had them several times now. However, the cakes I've tried at Raw Power Cafe (carrot cake, chocolate cake and lemon cake), are really not good at all I'm afraid :( Would recommend the staff try the cakes themselves to form their own opinion but myself and 2 other girlfriends were not impressed with the cakes.
Sheridan Eyles
Had a delicious brunch here yesterday ... HUGE servings of pancakes and French toast (both delicious), lovely fresh juice and great coffee. Would definitely recommend.
Jill McMaster
I'm not a vegetarian but they have the best food and the most amazing salads ever!
Hayley Mapley
Loads of awesome vegan options. I had the scrambled tofu and it was great value for money and so delicious! The juices are fabulous too!
Sophia Frederike Noakes
I loved Raw Power when I worked on Queen Street. I got it almost everyday for lunch! Now that I've moved to Newmarket you need to open up another store here!! You'd get a lot of customers with such a high demand of healthy lunch options here and not much to choose from!
Grace Goldsmith
Awesome cafe, Yummy food, Nice atmosphere and staff.

I had a absolutely yummy lunch here with a friend! My juice and tofu burger were delicious and I really enjoyed the friendly, cute and cosy atmosphere in the cafe. Lovely and prompt service and very clean.

The Vege breakfast is excellent bang for your buck, large portions of hash brown and a whole (deliciously marinated) tofu block, along with eggs, tomato, mushroom and toasted bread.
The cafe is up a small flight of stairs and has a comfortable ambience and welcoming decor.
Nice touches of the cute vegetable salt and pepper shakers on each table!

Tofu sandwich was good. French toast lack a bit of syrup. Juice was delicious service was very nice!

After seeing the great reviews about the tofu burger I chose that and a kale smoothie. The tofu burger was served by itself but had plenty of fillings: both pieces of focaccia bread were smothered with a delicious peppery humus, the bottom was layered with sauteed mushrooms, the tofu patty was large and juicy, the salad was well dressed with a pesto(?) dressing and it also came with slices of cucumber, tomato, and avocado. The kale smoothie was warm, bland, and a bit underwhelming. I noticed that they also had daily juice specials for only $6, and they also had a self-serve salad bar that looked appetizing. I might try that next time (around $10 for a bowl or $15 for a plate). I went in around 11 so it was quiet but I really liked the cozy atmosphere - the large windows opening up to Vulcan Lane (upstairs) let plenty of fresh air in, and the staff were patient & friendly even when I was fumbling around trying to pay via Zomato. Also had wifi to my delight.

Currently they have a 15% discount if you pay with Zomato - which made the small smoothie & burger around $18 for me but it was a filling and pretty health lunch so I'm happy 😌 would definitely suggest trying this place out - they have a lot of healthy and different options if you're looking for something other than the old big brekky or eggs Benedict. They also had a range of cabinet food but I only took a picture of the smaller cabinet of the two.

I am so surprised that the food from this cafe is so good, taste is good and service is great. my friend bring me there and we order 2dishes plus two drinks, price is reasonable and taste is 4 out of 5, definitely over my expectation.
will be back, great experience.

Located between bars in Vulcan Lane this brightly lit café has a variety of food to suit vegans and non-vegans and very affordable. I tried their vegan cheesecake and I wouldn’t have known that it was vegan, made from cashews, walnuts, coconut cream etc it was such a treat! I have also tried their vegan carrot cake and I’m sure the size of the slices are meant to be for two people, so pretty and delicious especially the thick icing and bits of date inside the bread. They are open for breakfast and lunch too, with a great salad bar. They serve great coffee too.
Sam Diprose
Came here just after they’d opened on a Saturday morning. Place was almost completely empty. Food was made quickly and was delicious, I got the potato stack and my friend ordered the big breakfast. Would definitely recommend

First time to this place for lunch. I have chosen the self served salad bar with over 10 varieties of salad to choose from. You can stack as much as you want in a plate for about $15. I have tried a but of everything. Taste is good and would like to come back again.
Andy Hur
The food/drinks are creative and refreshingly unique. The tofu burger is tasty, must try it out.

The staff is friendly and helpful - this place is worth dropping by for sure!

I always really look forward to visiting this cafe. They have a very creative and tasty vegetarian smorgasbord and is super filling. It's great that they can make healthy food so tasty. However, my favourite menu item by far is their freshly squeezed juice! Will keep returning

Really enjoy the healthy and tasty food here. Big meal! View from the window is definitely another highlight~ A great place to spend time with friends!

Popped into this little gem of a place for brunch. Ordered the French toast as pictured. It was delicious and great for the price point! Prompt and polite service. A nice view from the window down onto Vulcan lane. Would come here again
Mona
Being a vegetarian its really hard to find good places and good food options to eat. Finally found this gem. We ordered big breakfast, pancake and self-service plate of salad with smoothie and juice of the day. Everything was just perfectly made. Thanks team, would definitely come again.
Amber
I have had a few tasty meals from here including from the salad bar, but it was the Tofu Burger that won me over. So juicy and flavoursome! I never thought tofu could be so yum! Nice one Raw Power :)
CocoOnFire
The food is just delicious. It's a vegetarian cafe. We bought a voucher for two and went on a saturday lunch, friendly services at the counter, food comes fast, taste still really good without meat. 👍👍👍
Will be back.

WOW. So happy I’ve found this place on Vulcan Lane. Hidden between 2 bars.

Great menu. Was feeling hungry so opted for a salad. Salads are not usually my first choice when eating out but this was not your usual boring green salad. They have a self service salad bar which ranges a variety of different salads that you choose from. From coleslaw to beans, potato etc. you can basically pile as much on your plate.
On my plate it all looked a little oily but overall good combination of flavours.

I also had a Jumbo size Berry Tango smoothie which only had blueberries, banana & apple juice- tasty wasn’t too sweet. It was served in a massive glass- not sure how many mls but imagine your standard large size BUT BIGGER.

I’m surprised at how cheap they are considering they’re vegan/ vegetarian- Not many cheap vegan / vege places like this around. Both kept me full for the rest of the day. Just what I needed. Defs would go back & recommend for those wanting a healthy, filling & affordable meal.

My wife took me to this cafe to begin Father's Day activities and we were not disappointed. We both ordered the Vege Big breakfast and it was sizable, tasty and has a lot of elements that work well together for a hearty brekkie. The poached eggs were dry and overcooked, but overall everything else was enjoyable. It's nice to have a cafe that avoids greasy sausage, fatty bacon and oily frying pan cooking. My main issue is that I personally do not like having to go to the counter to order food. This type of service is more suited to fast food, so I'd recommend offering table service instead, but that's just me. Decor is a little tired, and themed condiment containers look like they need an upgrade.

The sinking feeling when the girlfriend explains we need to try this vegan/vegetarian cafe. But what a pleasant surprise....The breakfast was huge and apart from the vegetarian sausage everything was really tasty......and wait for it.....The tofu was exceptionally good; who knew tofu actually had flavour. Will definitely be back.
Nikkita Eilenberg
I had the tofu open sandwich. It was delicious and quite big. It has a great vibe for a small cafe. The coffee was a bit weak, however the food is cheap and big portions. Will definitely be coming back!
Latha Hegde
LOVEEE the food, and service is great- very informative about the menu and polite. Highly recommend this vegetarian/vegan cafe to everyone! The location is also great.
Namkool
Good food. Was a very busy day so some bits of the vege big breakfast wasn’t fully cooked through (tomato slice). Portions are excellent and well worth the money for the location. Would recommend.
Ronagrail Totanes
Great place for vegetarians and vegans. Their menu is amazing! Their falafel pockets are good and i also loved the dressing of the side salad.
LOONA
I haven’t been here for a while but was craving some good vegan food. I went in a little late so I wasn’t sure if they’d still be cooking lunch food but I was in luck so I ordered the tofu burger. It’s a really big portion so great if you’re hungry and tastes really good. The tofu they use is really nice quality and the dressing is delicious. It’s on the second floor so it’s nice to sit by the window for fresh air and view and the staff are very nice.
Oksana Zhang
Came here to grab their salads since I’ve heard so much about them!
It’s a self serve salad bar so you can essentially fit as much content into the container as you wish.
I got a little bit of everything; ranging from quinoa, kale salad, beetroot, pumpkin, risotto, broccoli, some peanuts and some Greek yoghurt.

It was delicious!!! There’s a mildly sweet yet refreshing dressing in some of the salads and everything goes well together! I got a M size which set me back my $14 and it filled me up!
Service and friendly and is a very popular place! I’ll be popping in more frequently!

Food: 10/10
Price: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Service: 10/10

This is my favourite place to eat in Auckland city! I could never find anywhere healthy to eat in the city so im really glad I found this cafe. Has lots of options for anyone whether you vegan, vegetarian, gluten free or are just looking for a good meal for what you pay for.
Nancyguonz
Love the groovy cosy atmosphere, affordable meals with a good range of options! Love the salad bar! Had the falafel pocket which was good but I found that the dressing was a bit too sweet and wasn't a fan of the pairing of the tomato sauce but good portions and decently fast service. Would recommend
Aimee.
I love vegan food. I love this place. The staff are super friendly and patient. The food is AMAZING and they give you huge portions. I couldn't finish my meal and I usually eat a lot... the prices are extremely reasonable if not cheap for what you get and how much you get. Recommend to everyone.
Addy
Love this place - great coffee and healthy, fresh food. I haven't tried the salad bar as I usually order a meal; The corn and pumpkin fritters are my favourite.

One thing different about this place that I really like is that it's upstairs and overlooks Vulcan lane - tables/seats by the windows are the best.

Very reasonably priced with fast and friendly service.
MegWantsVeg
Great place, great food. Tasty and fresh. Can't ask for more. Raw Power always delivers. We had a big breakfast and the potato stack. Portion was very generous, I was absolutely stuffed at the end of the meal.
Emma Willie Wilson
Had a groupon voucher for this place. Food was tasty and he voucher was worth it!
Can't recall what full price on the menu was though sorry!
Anna
Being a meateater myself, I was taken by surprise and absolutely blown away with the food here! I came here for lunch with a friend last week and got the Falafel pita pocket and would highly recommend! The portion size was generous and the flavours worked well together. We also got the 'Elvis' juice. So yummy, and can't wait to try the self serve salad bar and the rest of the menu soon!
Annie Low
Good ambience and cozy place! Ordered French toast, omelette as well as eggs Benedict! The food was just average.... egg Benedict was very disappointing! As you can see from the pic..... There's no runny egg yolk at all 😭 lol but they serve a good variety of vegetarian food!
Sonam Naidoo
I got the Flafel Pita Pocket. Mmm so good, I love the sauce that they use. This is one of my favourite meals to get here, always fresh, decent portion and that green sauce they use is just Devine, great service, and the food stays consistent every time I come. 👌🏻👌🏻

Such a nice café tucked away from Queen Street! Went here today and got the Roasted Kumara Sandwich with a side of eggs and the Blue Moon smoothie. My meal was delicious and great value for money!! The meal came with an very yummy parsley sauce, plus it came out super fast considering it was slightly busy. My friend ordered the bagel which she thought was super yum too!! This café has a really nice vibe and great, friendly customer service! Definitely will be coming back here if I'm ever out in the city again with friends!!

Tucked in a hidden place corner on the first floor, it is great for vegetarians. You have good number of options in the salad bar and you can fill as per your wish. You can make your salad creamy, juicy or whatever you like. The salad turned out to be fulfilling enough (for 1), and can even satisfy that craving of eating something (for 2). I also tried their banana chocolate shake which wasn't too cold or sweet and that's the way I wanted it. They make fresh salad every morning, so if you are looking for something good for the body, go here.
Charlene Weaver
I liked this place but was expecting a bit more! I was really excited for the self-serve salad bar but found that the flavours fell short.

They have a wide range of fresh juices and smoothies available and the food that came out for other people looked amazing, the portions looked huge too.

For the self serve salad bar it's $10.90 for a smaller bowl and about $14 for a larger plate. They had roasted pumpkin, potato wedges, soba noodles, salad greens, steamed vegetables, stir fry mixes etc. I loved the condiments they had to top off your bowl including olives, jalapeños, nuts, sauces and cottage cheese.

I didn't like the parsley sauce they had, it tasted sweet and quite sour, just didn't match any of the options I chose.

Overall not the most amazing flavours however if you are after a healthy, quick lunch this place will hit the spot.
Gorgeous_mojo
I've been wanting to check this place just out of curiosity for Raw foods, went in today and I was surprise that the menu mainly consists of food that needs cooking. I ordered the French toast, waiting time was nearly 20mins. The staff was not friendly at all. French toast was soggy and overly sweet as it is drowning in syrup, it leaves an after taste of burnt when you eat them. Presentation is ok, I wasn't able to finish it as it taste awful. I won't comeback to this cafe again. Paying $14 for soggy french toast is a waste of money.
Madeline
I went with a group of meat eaters and we all thought the food was amazing. Good prices, huge portions, and heaps of variety both on the menu and in the cabinet food. I'd definitely come back here.
Simran Singh
Being a vegetarian, I understand the plight of not only looking for vegetarian food but GOOD vegetarian food. I've been to Raw Power about 5 times now and I've never been disappointed even once. Their tofu burger is to die for and will keep you filled all day long. Considering the wide variety of food on their menu, i'm sure non-vegetarians would like it too. I'll defs recommend it as a 10/10.n The ambiance is very casual. I personally think the place is a little dead and could do with some music, although if you sit by he window you get a nice view of Vulcan Ln. But the food is great so not gonna complain. They also have an amazing variety of healthy juices. I tried 'The Elvis' and its nice and refreshing. The 'Tofu Scramble' is quite nice and can be shared between two people as it is quite filling. Great way to promote vegetarianism! I'll never stop visiting this place!
Georgie @ Georgieats
I absolutely love having breakfast/lunch at Raw Power. It is about a 30 second walk from my work, which makes it an amazing location! They serve a range of delicious vegetarian meals and salads. Their breakfasts are out of this world! I usually order the Lemon Pancakes ($13.90) which comes with grilled banana, mixed berries, maple syrup and creme fraiche or the French Toast ($14.50) with the exact same accompaniments. Both are very filing and delicious and will keep you full till lunchtime!
Jazmin Lee
My friend introduced me to this cafe and I loved the idea it was hidden upstairs so you can see Vulcan Lane down below! First time I ordered pancakes and it was so amazing! I love how this cafe is affordable but still promoting healthy food choices. Second time I came here I ordered a falafel dish. The portions are hella huge but not much variety, I wish they had more stuff on the plate so the salad ration is evened out, lots of food options and drinks! The juices were so so good I recommend this place 10/10!! You can make your own salads as well, the seating is good to handle some people and the atmosphere has a earthy, comfortable vibe, wills recommend if you're watching your food choices and if you're super hungry and need a feed! Could never go wrong, the food caters to all! 🍎🌻🌿
Veganista
Have walked past this place a few times but never went up... I am so glad we did today! The vegan varieties were vast and the interior had a cool vibe. I chose a bowl of around 6 different salads which came from a buffet where you could pick your own, and a huge slice of chocolate cake! It was awesome to see a place that sells beautiful raw salads and delicious hearty cooked food also. Will definitely be back to try something hot!
Dre Holland
This cafe is in a great location and has a very nice, peaceful interior which is great for a busy workday lunch. Unfortunately, I don't feel that the salads are really up to par for the price. Several dishes are just steamed or roasted vegetables with very little seasoning. If you're looking for an exciting vegetarian meal, the Revive cafe up the street will serve you better.
Aarti Dayal
We had breakfast here at 7 am right after landing at Auckland airport from India. Very good food, although not sure about how healthy it is. A good beginning to our two week NZ trip!

Have been going here for years and it has never disappointed.

They have a good variety of food, that will appeal to people who aren't just vegans and vegetarians.

Shoutout to the tofu and hash with creamy mushroom.

Really great vegetarian/vegan menu for breakfast and lunch! Super chilled atmosphere and great smoothies. Do not hesitate to try and yes the food portions are quite substantial so if in the mood of a big brunch get the Big Breakfast;) will be back!
Heidi Chapman
Pretty good food with big portions. I'm not even vegan my friend just really wanted me to try it and it's not bad. A little expensive though so not for daily eats but still worth a try. I got this plate of food plus a drink for $22
Danny
While a place like this might appeal to people on a strict vegan diet, I was sadly left quite disappointed after my recent visit.

I'll make this clear. I am not vegan. I am not even vegetarian. So I decided to go for the Big Vege Breakfast with poached eggs. The eggs were decent, the bread was boring and the mushrooms were a bit too salty. But the grilled tofu was the worst of the lot. Tucked under the rest of the food and the mixed with the mushroom sauce, it was a soggy, salty mess. I don't think it's that hard making eggs taste good without sausages/bacon on the side. All you need are some free range eggs and good quality bread. And all this dis(h)appointment for $18? I wasn't impressed. And neither was the half-eaten salty tofu patty which was sitting on the plate staring back at me...
Sarah Herman
Little unassuming cafe on Vulcan Lane. All vegetarian or vegan and super healthy. Had the salad bar which was amazinggggg. All the other meals looked delicious too. Would definitely go back when in town!

There's a time in every meat eater's life, to take a day off from our carnivore habits and refresh ourselves with some vegetarian goodness.

Coming on Grabone voucher(Fantastic Deal), we grabbed a Vege Big breakfast and a tofu burger with some smoothies.

WOW were we surprised at the portion sizes, my colleague's burger looked like a tower of green and my big breakfast was bigger than most cafes' big breakfast .

Our meals tasted refreshing and sweet, the tofu was a little oily but the crunchy skin was a good touch. We really enjoyed our meals albeit feeling like the food lacked that killer taste we usually crave.

The smoothies tasted natural and invigorating.

Showstopper: The portions are huge and the food is super fresh, what's not to like?

Overall grade: A-

After weeks of Tank juice and smoothies, it was time to try a different place. What better choice than Raw Power Cafe? It's one of those cafes you tend to miss or wonder what it'd be like as you pass it but never get the time to actually climb up the stairs to the first floor to see. Once you are inside, you'd be surprised by its bright walls, the green plants, and a spacious room full of wooden tables and chairs. The cabinets are full of healthy treats, but their juices are the stars, and there are lots of them. I don't come here as often as I would have since my smoothie maker purchase, but Raw Power Cafe is worth a visit - especially if you are after something that makes you feel healthy.
Joanne Johnson
Have eaten here 3 times in the last week. The corn fritters and juices are fabulous! Few things need sorting, the vegan, gluten, nut free Bliss balls were full of rum which was not noted on the label, there are no take way menus to take back to the office and the perfunctiobary service could do with a smile. I'll keep coming back though as food is tasty.
Cookie
Please have the Chocolate Cake.

They also have a self service salad bar which is amazing. There is a roast veggie type thing going on and it's really yum. I also had a Booster juice which was a liiiiittle on the warm side, but good.

The service is quick and good and friendly!

Get the chocolate cake.
FoodieOodie95
■ Unique dishes
■ Great price
■ Nice interior

■ Huge portions
■ Hidden from main road

Came here months ago after being recommended by a Vegeterian friend and was so impressed! So healthy and semi- guiltfree haha. I remember having some kinda dish with Hollandaise sauce and remember not being able to finish it coz of it's large portion! They have some really special dishes that I wanna try including some Kumara ones and their smoothies also are apparently pretty popular! Hidden at the end of a little alleyway off Queen Street, this place boasts good, clean wholesome food. Think I needa pay another visit here again sometime soon!
HJ
Would never have found this place on our own! But thanks to some good reviews on Zomato, it was worth checking out. Hidden away up stairs on Vulcan lane we were pleasantly surprised to find a healthy cafe with a lot of character. This place is well maintained and pretty clean.

The menu has some great options for vegetarians and if you are slightly health conscious then this is a spot worth trying. The service was very good - the man that took our order was helpful with his recommendations and our food arrived quickly.

We ordered the Tofu burger and a blue moon smoothie. This was the perfect size to share for a light lunch. The burger was tasty, well portioned and filled with satisfying ingredients. The food and smoothies / juices are all reasonable priced - especially the smoothies compared to some places!

The experience here was pleasant and we would return again if we were in the area.
Auckland Food Tours
Being a confirmed meat eater this place was never on my radar, but also being a sociable person I agreed to meet my vegan friend here, and I have to admit I was impressed.
The food was tasty and filling, delicious in fact...I'll be going back
They have a buffet style salad bar where you can help yourself to as much as you want (2 sizes), they were all great.
L.E.N.S
I have wanted to try this place out for ages.. Unfortunately didn't have time to dine in. But was so happy to see the take away salads available. Located on the second floor on busy Vulcan lane, the decor is pretty DIY/simple, and coincidently I would use the word "raw" to describe it.

They have lots of fun vegan "takes" on your favourite meals, but I opted for the salad- which comes as buffet style. I chose a combination of chickpeas, pickles, quinoa, lettuce, pumpkin and cottage cheese. I also bought the vegan, sugar and gluten free blueberry cheesecake, which despite it's gritty texture, and lack of tangyness, was actually really yummy!! They have quite a wide range of meals on offer and in the pantry, and prices are pretty reasonable.

Overall, a healthy and humble little cafe full of yummy vegan alternatives to your everyday favourites, will come again to try the kitchen dishes.
Di
A small cafe located in Vulcan lane, its front door was quite hidden and actually the cafe is on the first floor. I came here in the late afternoon and ordered a Tofu, hash&mushrooms with some green salads, overall it was very healthy and fresh, but the outlay of fried Tofu was not crispy that was the only one I was not very happy with.

Despite the potentially misleading name (it isn't a raw food cafe but in my opinion that's a good thing!) this cafe is the tops! The meals are super cheap, tasty and filling. I've had everything ....the lemon pancakes (at less than $15 with beautiful grilled banana, thick pancakes and heaps of maple syrup you can't go wrong), the tofu burger ( no words), the tofu scramble (again just awesome) and of course their vast array of cakes and salads. The salads are soooo tasty and the variety is awesome. They aren't too salty, oily or creamy and have a good balance of carbs and vege options. The coffee is okay but not great. If you come here make sure you are very hungry cause everything is very large portions and you want to have room to try it all.
Situated above Vulcan lane it's a great location and the interior is pleasant. You can sit and read the paper and listen to city sounds (no music plays ever unfortunately) but it does get loud if Vulcan lane is busy. The service is again okay, everyone is pleasant but they seem to struggle to understand you so if you have special requirements you have to lay them out very clearly! Overall, well priced lovely food and a definite winner. Improving on the service and ambience would do a lot to make the cafe excel though :)

Landed straight into raw power cafe after a 26hr long journey from Delhi. Ordered a Chorizo breakfast and another portion of mushroom for wifey. Really really nice breakfast. Enjoyed it, specially the chorizo one. Was too full by the end of it otherwise would have ordered something more to eat.

Been wanting to check out this gem for a while and was finally able to tick it off my list today! A creative little cafe that adds an innovative twist to vegan/vegetarian foods. They have a great range of salads however I couldn't resist the corn fritter! They were pan-fried and had a lovely texture. The sweetness of corn also went well with the lavish cream and feta cheese! However when indulging in food this rich, fresh salads always helps, which is one thing that Raw power still needs to work on... the "green salad" was a tiny handful of greens and the mushrooms and tomatoes also came in just 1 slice. The overall portion was definitely enough, just more salads would be nicer.

I came to Raw Power today at 3pm after an exhausting event. After hearing super good things about Raw Power, and since I was about to dine with a vegan friend, we managed to get here before it closed at 4.

There was no one inside when we came in today! I ordered the French toast and the berry tango smoothie. Erica ordered a tofu burger which has been said to be amazing! Our meals came out in about ten minutes, and wow. The portions were huge especially for the price and value. My French toast was so good. The bread, berries and grilled banana complemented each other perfectly. The smoothie just topped the meal off. It was such a good smoothie!!! Erica had no complaints at all about her tofu burger. The presentation looked amazing as well!

Overall, very happy with my experience here. Couldn't fault it at all. Service was friendly and efficient.

It was a bit hard to find because it was in between two stores and it is on the second floor. Good size for their servings. The French toast is quite good but too sweet for my liking. The staff were not very friendly compared to other stores I've been.

Incredibly yummy raw food! Healthy never tasted so good! Easily the best vegan joint in Auckland 🌽 So much choice it makes it so hard not to try everything on offer.
Luke Alexander
This place is amazing! Vegan heaven with such a plethora of options.

My favourites are the scrambled tofu and the pita pocket. One grumble is that the pita pocket is vegan optional - they take off the yoghurt but offer no substitute and still charge the same amount ($13.90). They also use those really gross, gritty, watery tomatoes so don't even bother eating them. This is super disappointing - when you're paying that much for a pita you expect quality produce.

The coffee is awesome and so are the baked goods!

Came here expecting what the name implies- fresh and energising food. The cabinet food and salad bar appeared old and not very appetizing. Ended up having a takeaway juice which was unremarkable. Staff were not very friendly. Unsure if I would come back for a sit down meal- would probably prefer to go somewhere with fresher food even if less vegetarian options.

We went here over the weekend with a Grab One voucher, and it was easily the best brunch we've had in Auckland... And we eat a LOT of brunch. I had the tofu scramble, which was fresh tasting and savory. The celery was a great touch. My partner had some sort of potato stack with poached eggs on top, which was creamy and cheesy. They were both fantastic.

They seemed to be a little understaffed while we were there - perhaps the business brought in by Grab One was unexpectedly big. But the staff were courteous and friendly and were obviously trying hard to meet the demands of quite a few tables. We will be back.

Delicious breakfast had here this morning. The location is great easy to find and the lay out is bright, clean and comfortable lots of seating space.
The menu is extensive with plenty of options and everything is very reasonably priced especially since the servings are large. they also have a salad bar which is great you can choose what you like and they have a nice selection of sweets ranging from dairy, gluten and sugar free for the health conscious

We ordered long blacks, the vege big breakfast and the tofu mushroom hash. eggs were cooked nicely and the tofu as well as the hash cakes were yummy. Our coffees came promptly and meals arrived fairly quickly after within 10 mins of ordering. Really impressed with the portion sizes and quality of food we loved everything and will definitely be back to try the salad bar and smoothie/juice menu

I'm a meat eater. A happy and content meat eater. However, the occasional visit to Raw Power is always a good and welcome change. The salads are tasty with a good selection. It has a good menu with a range of vegetarian and vegan offerings. The juices and smoothies are good too.
Unfortunately service is usually a little slow with meals and drinks arriving at the table sporadically, but I think that is likely due to the kitchen size than the staff speed. Not a bad place to eat and is definitely a haven for the veggies and vegans of Auckland.

After hearing great things, I brought a vegetarian friend along for lunch with high expectations. It is very hard to be healthy when eating out, so I love places that cater to that. We both enjoyed our meals and we had a nice seat by the window overlooking Vulcan Lane. Definitely recommend for people who are looking for healthy options in town. They have a wide range of vegetarian food, so even though i'm a big meat fan, I felt tempted by quite a few choices.

A solid 5! These guys have not disappointed me since the first visit (not realizing the huge portion sizes/meal here relative to a lot of other cafes we over-ordered!). Really impressed with the friendly service, delicious vegetarian food + coffee, and fast serve time. The interior decor gives a tropical happy vibe and is well lit. The Pumpkin soup is a true star for a cold Winter's day.

Only suggestion: Please consider opening on Sundays too! You guys rock!

Came here with my grab one voucher and was surprised by the food. The eggs Benedict were great, the only draw back is the size of the eggs which I'm not used to, they were smaller than what I usually received at other cafes but otherwise was great.

The omelette with mushrooms however won me over! For the meat lovers we are we enjoyed what we had.
Claudia Serra
Yuuuuum! Love the selection of food here - salads, cabinet food and menu food. Last time I went I didn't love the salads I chose, but everything I have had on the menu has more than made up for it! I have the vegetarian lasagne at least every second time I go here - never had better! The fresh juices are always tasty and they have a good selection of those too :)
Sungsam7
The self serve salad bar always a hit for me usually so I was disappointed with my last visit as it tasted as though the ingredients wasn't as fresh tasting or up to the usual quality. Hoping it was as a one off though

Popular vegetarian venue in the CBD - just walk up the steps on Vulcan Lane. SImple healthy food, especially the poached eggs and various pasta and tofu mains. I was disappointed with the choc cake and the coffee is pretty basic.Good option but the space is cramped and too busy - needs a clean out to create less business.
Bianca Lilley
Always love stopping in here when I'm in the city. I always get the falafel pita pit, which is delicious and very filling. I insist you check out all the vegan cakes in the cabinet!
Very friendly staff and great atmosphere, especially when you get a seat by the window :D

I cannot express how much I love this hidden gem!

I've had the best smoothies from here!

I love their marinated tofu! And their meals are filling and you don't feel guilty afterwards!
This cafe is seriously a little hidden gem tucked away on Vulcan Lane. If I had to describe it in a few words, it would be affordable, healthy and YUM!!! Although the " raw" in the cafe's name is misleading, the cafe does offer a wide range of delicious healthy options that are cooked and uncooked too , i.e. salads! I came here on a Thursday morning at 11am for brunch with three other friends. We all grabbed a menu and started browsing the cabinets too which contained delicious looking pastries and pies and wow the cakes were impressive too! huge slices being sold for around 6 dollars :)

In the end, I opted for a small sized salad ( I think around $10.20). now this was the cool part. They gave me a bowl and told me I could fill it up with whatever I wanted from the salad bar and WOW that salad bar! there were around 10 options and each of them were scrumptious! My favourites would be the tofu caeser salad and the barley. The best part was there was also unlimited peanuts, gherkins, olives and cottage cheese you could add on heheh. I thought it was extremly money worth ( as you can see from my photo), I barely finished half and had to take it away, definitely reccomend!

The others from my table ordered the potato cake, the roast vege tart and the corn and pumpkin fritters. Out of the three, the potato cake would definitely be the one I'd reccomend! It was absolutely delicious and the potato cake itself was stacked with layers of ooozey cheese inside with perfectly poached eggs sat on top yum! The flavours were amazing! the roast vege tart follows closely as it had a lot of flavour too and was relatively cheap!
The corn fritters however, were quite disappointing as they did taste slightly floury and bland; wouldnt reccomend this dish as other places do offer nicer fritters. We ended our brunch sesison with a vegan chocolate and jaffa cake which was a bit too sweet for my liking, however it was very moist; just not my cup of tea haha ( I'd reccomend walking down to little bird for desserts).

Overall, it was a really good experience and didnt do too much damage on the wallet! I would definitely like to return to try more of their menus or even to get a takeaway salad :)
WeiTing Ashley Shyu
Delicious food! I love the variety that they have and all the healthy alternatives that 'Raw Power' provide for those dishes that you love - such as baked kumara stuffed with deliciousness! Lovely salad bar. I like how it's like a little hidden gem in the city up a stair case. It's a lot more quiet than the other popular health joints where you can hear the constant hustle and bustle.

GREAT PRICE for the food too! one of the cheapest cafes with decent food! Slightly old school though....
Alicia Croft
I was only so disappointed as I thought it was a raw food cafe and was hoping for a green smoothie (none of their smoothies had greens or low sugar options) I had a vegan lemon cake which was extraordinarily stale, the coffee was nice but service- just general courteousness- was not there. Good options for vegan, df, gf. Hopefully just a random glitch in usually good food. Not raw though, or low sugar
Kat
Great range of vegan and veggie food items. Menu includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, desserts and fresh juices. Good value. Good service and nice ambiance. Recommend the tofu burger which is unique and delicious!
Rojas
Great to find a vegetarian restaurant in the CBD. Definitely not a raw food place but they do have a good range of vegetarian and vegan options. The tofu burger, although a little bit too salty for my liking, but was ok overall. My friend had the fritters which she quiet enjoyed. The cafe itself has a great, relaxed atmosphere.
Lauren Coleman
Although it's definitely not a raw food cafe (check out little bird or wise cicada for that) this place is one of the few vegan friendly retreats in the cbd and has full cookie jars of whoopie pies, brownie slices, melting moments (I think they rotate what they have on display) as well as a cabinet with carrot and chocolate cake slices, lentil pies etc. I often wish there were more places in Auckland to help you be an unhealthy vegan! I've only been here a few times. I've had the tofu scramble which kicks ass! Filled me right up and not bland at all. I've had salad from the salad bar which disappointed me a little bit only because I think I came too late (I came at 3 and was left with scraps since they close at 4) which is the main downside. Always been delighted with the baking treats. Such cute random retro decor too it's so quirky and really suits being on Vulcan lane. Love the bright orange walls and pot plants !
Michelle Tan
the salad bar here is absolutely on point. i love how youre able to select everything you want yourself because it just makes things a lot easier - you can take as little and much of everything you want and dont want - that way theres no wastage. basically it means i can have all the pickles i want and as little crispy noodles as possible which makes me a happy customer.

there are quite a lot of options and varieties of salad to pick from and although at first glance none of the choices appear attractive, they all definitely taste better than they look. i dont know what they season everything with but everything tasted so good to the point i wouldnt mind being vegetarian.

the soba noodles, chickpeas and barley were all absolutely delicious with the chickpeas being the standout of the day. the salads were all fresh and crisp and seasoned well and were super tasty - but the only thing i wasnt a fan of was their roasted vegetable salad. the potatoes were rock hard and dry and ill definitely be skipping them when i return. same goes for their broccoli.

also i wasnt really a fan of their juice - it was far too sweet for my liking and almost tasted like sugar water rather than fresh juice youd normally get at tank.

but would i come here again? yes definitely but only for the salad - its hard to find a good salad bar when youre eating out that is relatively affordable and convenient to visit for lunch. i would definitely recommend getting a small sized bowl instead of a medium because even though the bowl doesnt appear that big, when you fill it up it to your hearts content it is definitely more than filling.

salad bar 9.5/10
apple, lemon, orange and pineapple juice 4/10

Had a coupon purchased off grab one for a medium salad and large juice. I completely forgot about the voucher expiring and the owner was so lovely and kind enough for let me use the voucher a week after it had expired. The service was a good highlight and the food was really good. The salad was fresh and was such a large portion. For anyone who wants to eat healthy fresh food that is also vegetarian this is the place to go.

Really awesome food! Great for Vegetarians :)

Today I ditched an early morning lecture to search for breakfast and decided on raw power. I've been here a couple of times and have always enjoyed it.
Today I ordered two poached eggs with a side of mushrooms and avocado and a latte. My latte was good but I think I was a little optimistic ordering a large one. My eggs were a bit overdone but I got over it because the mushrooms were awesome. I could quite literally live on them, and I wouldn't say I'm a huge mushroom person. I also got a substantial amount of avocado and they also added some side salad. I was pretty stoked this all came to only $17 so value for money is awesome.
Overall I was really happy with my food! It's nice to find a place that does simple, healthy food. Definitely going to continue to go back.

I was here yesterday, for lunch.

I went for the soup of the day- pumpkin curry, and my partner went for the felafel pita.
Both meals were tasty and reasonably priced. I love the little touches in this place, like the vege shaped sat and pepper shakers.
From my perspective I enjoyed that it was busy, the more people eating vegan or vegetarian food, the better, but the crowdedness of the place could put a few people off. When it's busy, there isn't much room to move.

But if there is one reason to go to The Raw Power Cafe, it would be for their desserts, I went crazy, getting cakes, biscuits and rum balls (I did share...) I love vegan baking, I truly believe it tastes better than the alternative.

A cute little spot in the middle of the city with great cakes- what more could you want.
James
Tried this place with deal voucher.

The people here are very nice and friendlly.

The food from the menu that I have tried is good, but the baked cabinet food is very good.

I thought the coffee is okay.

Overall, really enjoyed the food and experience here. Would surely recommend this place to others
Melody
Extremely recommend this cafe! The moment my friend and I entered and saw the salad bar and cabinet food, we knew we'd love.
We ordered the falafel pita pocket and tofu burger, both very delicious and arrived in good time!
To end the meal we both tried the vegan chocolate cake and lemon ginger cake! Absolutely divine, so yum and a very very good size.
Honestly can't say more good things about this place, very pleased and will definitely be back again.
Cheers for the filling, tasty and healthy meal!

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I've been frequenting Raw Power since 2010. There are so many great vegetarian and vegan options to choose from - there's the a la carte menu, cabinet selection AND salad bar, along with smoothies and coffees.

I have the salad selection every single time - I absolutely love all the different salads they have from leafy greens to barley to potatoes.

I used to think it was expensive but it really isn't compared to other places. I pay $11 for a big bowl of salad and $5 for a massive slice of vegan chocolate cake (I've paid $6 for a pathetically small slice in other places).

Keep up the good work, Raw Power!
Sarah Ure
I went here yesterday, and I really enjoyed it! The location is lovely, and I got the tofu burger and a spirulina juice. People said it is very expensive in reviews, but I don't think its any more expensive than most cafes and restaurants. My tofu burger was a bit over $14, and I thought that does seem a little expensive, but it was a huge burger, what looked like a whole block of tofu was used in it, and it was delicious! The spirulina juice tasted really good too. I got a piece of vegan chocolate cake too, and this wasn't as great because it was quite dry, but the icing at least was really yum. I would definitely recommend the tofu burger and smoothies though!
Louise Connell
The food is excellent if you are looking for a healthy vegetarian meal (i am not a vegetarian). The best options are the pita with falafels, soup and the salad bar.
Jordan Lee
The food here is great. I like the Tofu Burger in particular. I do agree with others that it is a bit expensive. But the location is great and there is a nice feel to the cafe. The window-side tables are especially nice as you get a view over Vulcan Lane.

A very disappointing experience at Raw. I went here, off the back of the Herald Review and will never be back again. Pricing is not in line with the quality of food that they are putting out. I would pay more for actual organic or good quality ingredients. This place is also not vegan-friendly and they use eggs from battery hens. NOT OK.
A couple of good points though - I will be able to reuse the plastic container that my soggy tandoori roti and cheap mescalin salad was supplied in and the service was friendly.
I can only assume that this place has changed management at some point over the last couple of years, as you couldn't sustain serving such sub-par fare and expect to stay afloat for such a long time.
Jonjon
In terms of price I felt that this place was a tad bit expensive.

In terms of food it was very good, and suprisingly an array of selections to choose from - from tofu burgers to pancakes and to lasagnes and a lot of cake selections.

Despite it's name "Raw Power Cafe" it's not a cafe that uses raw food for it's meals. I don't think it's important to dwell and judge the cafe solely by the name because a name is just a name, the cafe owner never claimed that it was a raw food cafe.

There are vegetarian and vegan choices and some salads and juices if you want something on the healthier side. The cooked meals were very tasty and I'd definitely come here back again when I have time
Maree Webster
This is the perfect healthy lunch place in town. Surprisingly delicious salads. My friend says there must be something addictive in the green dressing, it tastes so good. Fresh squeezed juice delivered straight away. Nice relaxed vibe too.
Melissa
For people who have eaten at raw power you will understand why I have given this cafe five stars. Firstly, the food is amazing. I am not a vegetarian or a bloody vegan yet still love the taste of this mouthwatering fresh salad bar!! My boyfriend loves his meat yet he is always wanting to come here. I have not tried anything off the menu because I cant pull my self away from the salad bar where you can pick and mix your own salads of chickpeas, kidney beans, ghurkin, crutons, nuts, noodles, potato and many others. The staff here are super friendly and the place is cute with little vegtable salt and pepper shakers. I would recomend this place to anyone who likes good healthy food :-) love love love
Shirley
I came here the other day expecting to discover delicious vegan food, and the blackboard - which exhibited the main meals - contained a meagre few choices that were 'actually' vegan (apparently 'some' of the recipes can be altered to be made vegan..).

Moreover, the title "raw" is not very representative of the major features of the menu which are evidentially not raw at all...

Somewhat disappointing, sorry!...
Casey
Great tasting food! Auckland needs more of this! Love going to RAW. I do wish however that the eggs were free range! Add on .50c to each meal, buy in bulk and do it! Otherwise they are perfect!

I go here a lot and the smoothies in Jumbo are a god send!

The portion sizes are also very generous.
Bonsai
I'm taking one star off for the use of battery hen eggs, otherwise this would be a five star review. Raw Power is the best place in Auckland to get vegan and vegetarian food. The tofu open sandwich is to die for, as is the scrambled tofu. The choice of fruit for the smoothies has diminished over the past few years, but it's still one of the few places to serve proper, pure fruit and not those "99% fat free" fruit flavoured, sugar filled monstrosities that pass for smoothies these days. Yum yum yum!!!
Lilminx
The food is good but this cafe is completely hypocrytical when it comes to how it markets itself. The cafe is full of animal welfare and ethics promotional material such as SAFE donation boxes for battery hens, yet they use caged eggs! We even checked twice! Not only is this unethical but they are misleading their patrons.
Cherie
This cafe is fantastic. It is relaxed and informal, clean, and a bit quirky and cute. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. The salad bar is fresh and all vegan and they have a great menu you can order from, as well as vegan and non-vegan desserts.

For lunch, I either order the Curry Vegetable Soup ($8.50) which consists of pumpkin, carrot and onion and is served with focaccia bread or I really enjoy the Toasted Feta Sandwich ($10.20) - both are equally delicious. But the real deal is definitely their salad bar. You can choose from a bowl or plate size and fill it up with as many salads as you like. Some of the salads include: roasted mixed vegetables, salad greens with avocado and cucumber, soba noodles, pumpkin, beetroot, chickpeas, kidney/broad beans and cauliflower/broccoli. Then when you've finished piling it mountain high, you can add as many olives, nuts, gherkins, jalapenos and cottage cheese to your salad as you wish. So amazing!

They also make hot drinks, smoothies and juices. I have ordered a Mocha twice and both times, it was delicious and extra extra hot (just how I like it!).

I recommend this cafe to all. I'm not a complete vegetarian but I do enjoy vegetarian food a lot. The food is great, the service is quick and friendly and the portion sizes are perfect.

Absolutely delicious every time!

The best salad ever!!

I was fairly suspicious when a friend asked me to go to a vegetarian cafe on Vulcan lane in the heart of city. But it was amazing. It was buzzing with heaps of people in the lunch time. The range of salads is the best I have seen, from fresh green leaves to kidney beans, chickpeas and barley, couscous…… And the meals we had were excellent. The tofu burger was fantastic. A whole slab of homemade tofu, mushrooms, avocado, hummas and green salads served on focaccia bread makes for an artisan and delicious treat. Vegan cake like carrot cake there was also awesome and yummy. There are also vegan options available and gluten-free which is a huge bonus and seldom if ever found elsewhere. For people who enjoy healthy vegetarian food, this cafe is a must. The staffs are friendly, helpful and service is really quick. Highly recommended!

I finally visited this vegetarian café after having it recommended by two of my friends. Although I’m not a vegetarian myself, I love eating vegetarian food, so I was excited to try this place out. The menu was quite extensive and the salad bar looked pretty appetizing as well. Since it was brunch time, we (BF & I) decided to order the vegetarian big breakfast ($17.90) and bagels with jam & cream cheese ($5.30) to share. We also took advantage of the upstairs location by picking a window seat; the perfect spot for people watching on Vulcan Lane.

The service was quick and the food looked great. The bagels were pretty standard (still delicious though) but the big breakfast plate was brimming with vege goodness. It was reasonably filling, and at $23.20 for two people, I’d say it was a great price too! I’ll definitely be returning to this café very soon; I’m wanting to try one of their freshly squeezed juices that I’ve heard good things about as well.
