Review Bao Baby Bao - Auckland Central

Emily Guile
Cute and delicious eatery in a good hall. Really enjoyed the Angry Bird Bao and Bao Belly Bao lunch combos. We also got the Food King Duck Dim Sum - the cinnamon heavy sauce almost reminds you of dessert. Nice place to grab a quick bite in a unique space.

I was looking for a specific dish that is soft shell crab and that is the reason I’ve chosen this eatery. The soft shell crab is one of my fav amongst Vietnamese dishes. I previously only eaten it as an appetizer with a slaw on the side. This eatery serves it on the bao. I dont specifically have a bog love for any baos but it was a good experience to try. The soft shell crab was seasoned and fried very well. Not oily at all and super crunchy ! It has a right amount of sriracha ( maybe) -lime mayo and a spring salad-slaw. Price wise i think it is the same as i would’ve pay for an appetizer dish . The P’O bao costs $12. The place is located inside Elliot stables. You dont have a sitting inside the cafe but plenty of tables to sit and enjoy your food right out the door. Its like a food court type establishment. I have seen previous reviews about other food items. Can’t tell anything beside that I’ve tried. Its great for a quick grab but not a place where you would go trying to enjoy serenity and calmness while you eat. People are swirling around as its located in busy CBD area.

Honest review, it’s the first restaurant in Auckland I’m giving 5 star for the amazing food. Ordered Philly cheese Steak and it taste heavenly. Already decided to come again later :P Oh it’s inside Elliot’s Stables everyone! It’s not a shop on the street. Bonus: Cool vibe inside and super friendly staff :)

I had a fantastic experience trying Bao Baby Bao for the first time. I ordered the vegetable dumplings ($12) and loaded fries ($12). I was very surprised with the amount of food, high level of presentation and taste for the price. The dumplings sold at Bao Baby Bao are interesting flavours that I haven't seen or tasted anywhere else. Although slightly more expensive than dumplings I have had elsewhere, I much prefered these ones, and they were packed full of the filling. They are also served with a delicious seasoned soy sauce (which is great for dipping the fries into as well...)! The loaded fries were very good too! The bulgogi beef was not chewy, and very flavourful and savoury. I loved them. I'd highly recommend Bao Baby Bao to anyone vising Elliott Stables eatery, as you can't go wrong for the quality of food for the price!

We were in town for the Van Pimpenstein show. Great food, fair prices. I ate here several times. The pork belly bao made me feel like a dinosaur, in a good way.

We just came by for the fried ice cream but also ended up getting some baos since we were there and still a bit peckish. they have quite a few different flavoured baos as well as other food items like chicken wings and fried noodles. I had the soft shell crab bao and that was nice. The crab was crispy and the limey mayo went well with the slaw and crab. The best part is the fried ice cream, crispy and smothered in chocolate. It was served over a fried bread which was also really nice. Definitely, a must try dessert. We also tried the monkey business, a banana and walnut spring roll. I thought it was ok and was a lot nicer with the salted caramel sauce. it was almost like a banana fritter. Not a bad option for food if you're in Elliot Stables. One of the best parts is that they do have seating in the shop if the stables are full.

Incredible food!! It was delicious and the Elliot stables eatery was very cool. We had the pork noodles, beef and rice and dumplings and they were all delicious!

Always a delight to dine here. For my nth visit, I ordered Philly Cheesesteak with chips. (I always order the chips for their spicy dip!) First time trying the flavour out and man, it was sooo good! Waiting time is pretty decent and service is commendable. They have a promo on lunch time so come by then for a cheaper and yummier lunch option.

Great little hidden gem with amazing tasting food that’s quick, affordable and delicious. We got the crab bao, pork belly bao, dumplings and Korean fried chicken. Full of flavour!

I got pork n prawn dumplings and duck spring rolls. Pork one is kinda common taste? Good enough, but duck spring rolls were absolutely fantastic❤️ it tastes like peking duck. my new favourite dish in Elliot stables!

Pork and shrimp dumplings ... good value for money i think nice and tasty and well presented. Calamari dish has a nice coating and the calamari is tender and again good value for mony totally worth the visit. Had to go back and have more we tried the Beijing beef salad that was reccomend by the staff when i asked for something light and fresh... omg wow another great dish . Well done bao baby boa. I totally rate this the best eatery in Elliott stables .

Had the lunch combo- mean green and it was delicious. Super crispy eggplant with a good amount of sauce. The thick chips were yum as well ! Definitely recommend:)

We try to order local during lockdown. But our favourites were closed for ordering and I was craving a Bao and some dumplings! Let me tell you I have tried dumplings and Baos left right and centre. But my meal from here was the best I have had in so so long. I actually told my partner it was the best takeout I have had in the last year 😅. The pork and prawn dumplings were soft, sticky and filled with flavour and filling. Literal chunks of whole prawn and goodness. The sauce was to die for (I may or may not have sipped the rest out of the tub once I had finished the dumplings 🙄). The Chicken Bao bun was SO soft and pillow like I forced my partner to touch it just to see how nice it was. Best thing was even being delivered all the way from central (I'm in Sandringham) everything was fresh and hot/warm. 100% will order again and can't wait to come in person once we drop alert levels. Thanks so much guys, very satisfied 😊👍🏻

For pre-theatre show dinner, we checked out Bao Baby Bao in Elliott Stables. I ordered the angry bird bao, spicy mango salad and chicken ginger dumplings and I thoroughly enjoyed every dish. The bao was adorned with sriracha mayo and pickled cucumber, in texture with the crispy chicken thigh and flavour profile of creamy meets sweet and spicy and the chilli mango salad was exquisite!
joy kim
Chicken bao + chips = 10$ for lunch set! Bao was super delicious too 👍
Melissa Martin
Love love love, this place! They serve amazing food and reasonable prices! The dumplings are delicious! I had the prawn and chicken dumplings and they were phenomenal! The steam bao buns also looked great!

Food is tasty, portion sizes are quite small. The chicken/pineapple dumplings are the best. I didn’t really enjoy the crab bao but would recommend the pork belly. I would recommend getting a drink because the meat options can be a tad heavy. Many people don’t realise there’s an upstairs as well.

The food is delicious, I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Lunch Combo with Bang Bang Salad, staff was friendly and I was able to order without trouble.

The Philly Cheese Steak was well made and it was a satisfying meal, the side of salad was also a nice touch.

My only downside, though this is mostly because this was my first time coming here was managing the bao. It became quite tedious to eat the more I ate it, though this is most likely from lack of experience than anything.
@theelliottstables has been one of our favorite places since they opened. It is an enchanting Dining Village set in a beautiful historic building. They offer a wide range of international cuisines, from Western 🍔to Japanese🍱, Mexican 🌮to Indian🍛, Italian 🍕to Asian fusion🥟. Excellent choice for date nights, family gathering or just brunch with friends.⠀
⠀
@bao_baby_bao has been on our list of places to try for a while and we finally got to try their 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒅 🥗this week. Soy pull chicken was full of flavors, not too salty. The cucumber, carrots provides crunch for the dish. Along with soy chilli dressing, the whole dish was mild yet flavorful, juicy yet tender. Simply refreshing and divine.⠀
⠀
Bao Baby Bao is an Asian fusion restaurant who will take you to the Philadelphia streets via the Shanghai express🚝. They were created when American chef Robert Aylwin and Chinese chef Yolanda Chen met in New Zealand and became business partners. We can't wait to come back for some more noodles and baos 😝⠀

Ordered the beer battered fries- crunchy on the outside soft on the inside and really enjoyed the siracha mayo. The spicy Mongolian beef was average unfortunately I think the meat was slightly over cooked only managed to eat half of it. It was also a good portion size. The chicken dumplings were nice just a bit odd with the addition of the pineapple. Luckily it wasn’t in the dumplings it was on top of. The chicken bao was pretty great Just needed extra sauce which they happily provided. The chicken wings were tasty
Kelly
Absolutely amazing angry bird for just 5 dollars! and the service is great!
Charmed Foodie
Staff know their stuff and very informative on what food to offer, price is reasonable and food is great... crunchy chicken wings (you can have it by 500g or 1kg - 10pcs in 500g) and its fingerlickin 😊 the bao especially the angry bird with its crunchy chicken perfected with the sriracha and aoili sauce is a good combo...all food served are delicious and will be back for more 😊
YumTum
Yum! Absolutely loved the KFC(Korean Fried Chicken)! 1kg def beat - next time will order the 500gram. The chicken dumplings were perfect and the filling in the crab dumplings were more than adequate! The curly fries were def a nice add on to our meal!
Mike Currie
Second time we have eaten here. Deliciously fresh bao buns and this time we had a light and tasty sweet and sour pork. Go to the upstairs area to get away from the crowds. Recommended
LV.N
This was delicious and well priced, some of the nicest spicy chicken wings we have tried. Bao were very flavourful
Ditoya
Came here around lunchtime and got the angry bird bao. It was really good and only $5!! Service was very prompt and the staff were friendly. Will definitely come back.
Daneka Geaney-Jones
Got the “angry boy” buttermilk chicken bao!! 😍😍😍 for $8 cant beat it! Juicy tasty piece of chicken, soft bao and yummy sauce!! Would defs come back
Dora The Food Explorer
oh my! soft pillowy bao bund with the juicy meats. We ordered the Angry Bird, crispy chicken bao and the Bao belly bao with pork belly. Both with a side of cruncy fries. The simple siracha aioli was also to die for. Would highly recommend Bao Baby Bao some decent lunch time baos! 👍👍
Lizzie
Had the $10 lunch deal and it was super generous - big bao with a big piece of chicken and delicious fresh crispy chips with plenty of dipping sauce. Well worth it and will be back!

Had dinner at Elliot stables last night and decided to try Bao Baby Bao for the first time. Had the Spicy Mongolian Beef and the Pork and Prawn dumplings. Both dishes had the right amount of spice and were full of flavour. Absolutely enjoyed my meal here. It is a bit pricey but definitely recommended going here :)
Crackerjacker
I really enjoyed my meal here. I ordered the wagu beef bao and it came out very very quickly, maybe 3 mins? Anyway, it tasted just as I would expect with the Philly cheese. Absolutely delicious
Amindha Fernando
Come here on a weekly basis and have never had a bad bao. Despite being a die hard meat eater, I find myself ordering the Mean Green Bao on more than one occasion it's that good!

Caught this place at their last half hour of business on a Friday night. The staff were busy but really relaxed and friendly, we had a nice chat with Misty, on a working holiday from Shanghai. The happy vibe in the kitchen was reflected in the delicious and interesting food. We ordered chicken, lemongrass, coconut dumplings, pork belly bao, and soft shelled crab bao, with the bang bang side salad. All of the food was YUM! We’re already looking forward to our next visit so we can order all of the other bao and dim sum.
Ang Sarap
If you are looking for a different kind of bao then this is your place, Bao Baby Bao. If you think the usual barbecue pork filling just don’t make the cut anymore then try of their unique fillings like crispy chicken, cheese steak, softshell crab or beer battered egg plant at try. They also sell the usual dim sums like the Pork and Prawn, Chicken Lemongrass, Crab Rangoon and Mandarin Glazed Duck confit.
Karina
Came into Bao Baby Bao for lunch with a friend and we both had the angry bird bao which is a chicken bao. I enjoyed the bao, it is probably the best one I have had so far. The price is pretty decent but i'm not a fan of the location as it is very busy and stuffy in there so I would recommend branching out to get a restaurant in another location thats free standing, which would probably get them more customers as-well. Overall a good meal though and will be back.
Anastasia Matiatos
Bao Baby Bao was damn amazing. The girlfriend and I went here for the first time and both loved it. We both got the Angry Bird Bao which costs $8 although we got the lunch special so it only costed us $5 each. The service was very efficient and the staff were so lovely and sweet. Our food really pulled through like damn shits amazing can't hype this place up enough. 10/10 highly recommend x

Baos have definitely blown up recently and this place does them amazingly. In comparison to other places this is cheap, tasty and convenient
Conway Karaitiana
I don't understand the 1-3 stars? I literally go there religiously with the whole office. Staff are awesome and food is even better. You have to have 2-3 baos to understand the experience, either 2 Philly Cheese or one with a Belly Bao. If your not really feeling like the 2 Baos you can always order a $10 chicken for the wrap place and then have a side Bao to get your fix. Get a"Bao Better Mindset"
Lina Jocelyn
Chicken Dumpling- Very fresh and delicious, dumplings made well. served while still nice and warm. will definitely recommend. Paid $10 for 8 pcs. value for money I think. I've paid more for less tasteless dumplings. This is well worth my $10.00

Came here for work lunch. The lunch menu is quite cheap. $10 can get you a bao and chips. The food came quite fast too. Go early though as the queue can be quite long at lunchtime. I got the pork belly bao, the meat is tender and soft with crunchy crackling.

Have been here a few times as a quick lunch stop. The most delight Baos! Have had the angry bird and Bao Belly, both were so fresh, full of flavour and so tasty, could eat 10 of them! It came with a side of fries, home made, the perfect cut and cooked to perfection. Lovely staff and very prompt. Will be back for sure!

Bao baby bao is amazing. Such yummy baos (and we have tried a fair few bao places in Auckland). Such fresh ingredients and the chicken was so crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. The beef tacos were also amazing. I don't have a bad word to say. Yum, yum, yum. Will definitely be back!

I was there this Monday with my friends as highly recommend by ppl here on Facebook. Therefore I decided to give a go however, not only food is soso. You won’t believe what else I found out. The water I have been served got little full cockroach floating on the water surface. Luckily somehow I checked today before I drink, I mean sometimes ppl just drink straight away. Can you believe that or image if I drank the whole cockroach in my mouth n into my stomach? I am not what is their hygiene ranking but here u go!! Also food is way over too sweet for my pork belly noodles and bland for my friend spicy beef on rice? Maybe enough for ppl who don’t know asian cuisine but definitely a no no for asian. Thx.

Pretty good restaurant in elliott stables and we tried their crispy potato chips, fried icecream , pork dish and everything was nice. Service was quick and we decided to order everything from drinks to dessert from here instead of heaps of restra around :)

Angry birds bao was soft, crispy and delicious. Price was okay but portion was quite small. Meat tasted fresh and sriracha sauce was provided. Honeyt garlic fried chicken was bomb. The sauce did not make the fried chicken less crispy, but enhanced the flavour and crunch in the whole chicken. Absolutely loved the honey and garlic combination. Was unfortunate that my friend didn't like it too much. Bang bang salad was really nice too. The salad sauce really complimented the cucumber and carrot slices. Bean sprouts gave an extra crunch to the other vegetables.

Bao have been pretty popular recently, have seen a lot of places in Auckland offering now but this is my first time trying.

I think the normal prices are about $8-9 but for lunch they are $5 each which is a pretty good deal in my opinion. I came around 12pm lunch time and the wait wasn’t too bad, about 10 to maybe 15 minutes.

I got a Philly Cheesesteak (top) and also a Bao Belly Bao (bottom). The Philly Cheesesteak had a lot more filling - you can see how it’s basically overflowing compared to the other one. But the taste was just average, the meat wasn’t too flavourful. The Bao Belly Bao was really delicious though, the pork belly was nice and there was also some crackle that provided good texture. Really satisfying to eat, definitely recommend this one.

Hands down THE best bao I've ever had!! I couldn't believe how good it tasted!it was so good that I said atleast 3 "so good!" While I was stuffing my face with all the deliciousness. Now I know where to get me some good bao!
Desmond Lucali
I can't get enough of those chicken baos! That sauce is the standout for sure but every component is perfectly balanced and a star in it's own right.

We ordered off the restaurant month menu: calamari, korean fried chicken, pork noodles and bang bang chicken salad.

The calamari needed a more even coating as most parts weren’t crunching. Probably a thicker coating too. The flavours were pleasant as well as the sauce.

The korean fried chicken was tender and coated with a sweet spicy sauce. This was delicious.

The highlight of the night was the bang bang chicken salad. It was sour and savoury and really had you wanting more. Everything was perfect with this dish.

This restaurant is in Elliot stables but it has a few more tables upstairs.
First visit to this place was great! They have the most Divine Baos and they bang bang chicken salad was amazing! Staff are awesome too, I asked the our server if they had a cocktail menu, which unfortunately they didn’t but she talked me through what she could make for me, which was super nice of her. I ended up getting a sangria which was great. Food was 5/5 but the service from the staff made our night!
Aleisha T
Such cool decor. We sat upstairs which really takes you out of the busyness of Elliot Stables. We ordered 3 plates to share plus dessert to come out after (Dessert came out only a few minutes after the mains - should have been later!) All the food was really yum and had a unique twist. Hard ice tea was pretty decent too. The owner was a cool guy with lots of exciting ideas. Will definitely be back!

Came here for dinner. Wasn’t that hungry so ordered just the angry bird bao bun which was the perfect portion. Also got the lotus root chips and chunky chips that we shared. It was pretty good and reasonably priced for dinner.

Loved this place. Atmosphere in Elliott Stables was great and the food here was fresh, delish and left us wanting to come back the next day.

We started with the chicken dumplings, then foo king duck spring rolls and an angry bird and a philly cheesesteak bao. All four dishes were sensational, presented beautifully and the staff were just lovely.
Bibina
Ordered angry bird and belly bao. Food was fairly tasty but the wait time was insane! Two baos took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. Would be nice to know if the wait time is going to be that long for two small baos so I could have ordered something else in Elliott Stables.

Was happy to support Taiwanese business but the efficiency of this place is not quite authentic and therefore disappointing.
Sophie Allegra Unterhofer
OMG! You must go here! it is absolute perfection. We had the Angry chicken Bao ea, Lotus chips, sweet and sour pork and the yum yum belly.... and my god i think it might be one of the best Baos i’ve ever had! so fluffy and light and the yummiest fried chicken. the yum yum belly had more juicy pork than noodles which you don’t get a lot ! I will be telling everyone about this 💕💕💕
LoveLims
Very tasty philly cheese steak bao. The crispy onion is adding sensation between the tender beef and soft bun.
The lotus root crisp is a must try here
Dale Spencer
Tasty!

Fresh ingredients on a small but perfectly formed menu, something for everyone

Service was quick for anyone racing to a show or movie.

Deep fried potato wedges with extra crunch and surprised to report the peanut slaw was the crowd favourite here.

Great for a quick stop off!
Dotxfood
The Angry Bird Bao was delicious! One of the best Bao’s I’ve had! The Korean fried chicken was so disappointing though. The sauce that was coated on the chicken was overpowered with soy, making it really salty and too sour. The size of the chicken was also too small for the price. It was the size of chicken nibbles, maybe even smaller? And it was about $14-15. The fries were really good but it was shaped like wedges so that was a bit misleading. I was expecting shoe string fries. Nonetheless the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would go back to this place and try their other Baos.
Diogo Reck
Yum, yum, yum. Love the Angry Bird bao, the bun is amazing, the chicken so crispy with a licking finger sauce.

Wanna come back so many times.
Grace Huang
More and more bao restaurants are popping up all over Auckland, so I decided to pop in on a Sunday afternoon to see if it’s worth the hype.

Service: 10/10
Every time we asked them for something they were so quick to help us. The lady was very kind and didn’t get annoyed when I only ordered a small bao.

Food: 10/10
I found this place after craving pork belly. I got the pork belly bao. The meat ripped apart and was so tender. The peanuts contrasted the soft bao and allowed such a varied texture throughout the bao. It was so good I can’t wait to come back.

Ambiance: 10/10
It’s a little like a food court but there’s still seating inside. There are high chairs that make it feel like a snack bar. The dark wood makes it feel a little more traditional to emphasise the asian culture.
Amit Tripuraneni
Philly cheese steak Bao. Full on fusion magic that absolutely rocks. Busy little place but the food more than makes up for it. Friendly and pleasant service.
The Poor Foodie
$10 lunch deal on Tuesday!!!
I got Cheesy steak bun and chunky chips and I didn’t regret at all
The cheese sauce went so well with the shaved wagyu beef and the sriracha mayo is soooooo yum
Take me money! I’ll buy a whole jar home hahahaha
Diner8Here
came down to the former horse stables site again as i wanna try these yummy looking dumplings selling here. Got the chook dumps here and as seen in my pic looks delicious with the fry lotus root chippies too on the side.
Those of yous who do not know what lotus roots is a melon like root that grows in mud, some of yous may know them as telephone dials, more commonly used in stir frys or stew
Veggie Delights
The newest addition to Elliott Stables and it has quite a few vegetarian options!

The decor in the restraurant is very cool and modern - I love the art on the wall and the mahjong tiles under the counter!

They have my favourite vegetarian bao I have tasted - it is the only vegetarian bao I have seen that does not use tofu. Instead the serve it with a big piece of crispy eggplant! The bun is so soft, the eggplant is crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside, and the sauce goes really nicely with the dish.

I also tried the vegetarian stir-fry and was very happy when they let me change the rice for noodles for $1 extra. Generous portion and nicely presented. I really liked the sauce and they use a lot of different vegetables which were all well cooked.

Service was really friendly and they were very helpful with advising me about their vegetarians options. Just waiting for them to add vegetarian dumplings to the menu and I will be even happier!!

I love getting the Bao's here. Seriously my fav shop. I just had one for lunch today, the Pork Belly Bao, and seriously this was by far the best one I have had. The pork was so tender and just melted in my mouth with every bite. It was balanced perfectly with the sauce and the veges/herbs. I was very tempted to go back and grab more but I shouldn't be a 'big eyes'. Went to tell all my colleagues when I got back to work. Super guttered I didn't get any photos though

Had a vegetarian bao at this restaurant today. It was very tasty and fresh. The sauce was a good match for the meal. Highly recommended to anyone!

My overall experience was great! The inside atmosphere was vibrant and engaging. The staff were kind and helped me choose delicious food.I had the pork and chicken bao's which were amazing. It's like eating a cloud XD

Polite and friendly staff. All the food was amazing, Angry bird bao was definitely my favourite! We also had the desserts and WOWOWOW! We will be back.
Azana Bhatia
Loved the Angry Bird Bao from Bao Baby Bao. The chicken was super crispy and cooked superbly. I really liked the sriracha mayo because it complemented the bao really well, and the coleslaw was not too bad either. The bun itself was the right thickness, but for the amount served, I didn't think it was worth eight dollars. It was smaller than my hand. We also tried the Bao Belly Bao, and before I tried it, I wasn't too sure if I would enjoy the pork belly. It was perfectly cooked, however, and the crackling was amazing. The hoisin sauce covered everything and added a lovely flavour to the bun. Overall, I liked Bao Baby Bao, and will definitely come back to try the mains, desserts and dumplings.azanagoesbananas.weebly.com

Booked a leaving party with Bao Baby Bao for 20 people and every single person was blown away by how delicious the food was and how incredible the staff were. It's not easy to get such a large group of people together and have everyone thoroughly enjoy the food the way they did here. The room upstairs was nicely air conditioned and they were happy with us arranging the tables however we needed. A huge variety of food was ordered and every plate was finished off nicely and with not much wait. I have a severe meat allergy which they went above and beyond to make sure everything was explained and taken care of. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in Auckland looking for tasty, fun, good value food and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be wishing they had been around for longer and will be returning for sure! Thank you a million times over for creating such a wonderful place to enjoy, somewhere you always feel looked after.
Miura Elikana
This place is located in Elliott stables on the right side before the bathrooms. Budget friendly options and fast service. I ordered mine takeaway and they offered water while I waited 👍🏾. The angry bird was crispy and full of flavour. The steak bao was delicious and the cheese sauce very rich in flavour. I will returning for the deep fried ice cream. There’s also seating upstairs as well for more privacy. Definitely recommend

Lovely place in the stables. Staffs are friendly and the food was AMAZING!!!! The belly bao just melted into my mouth, the po bao was no joking at all. Why? Because they use the whole crab and so crispy. Overall we would love to come back and try other dishes for sure!
David Han
Amazingly good. I've grown up eating bao in my family and I gotta say the Philly Cheese steak bao is one of the greatest creations ever. Highly recommended. Amazing decor and atmosphere, and really great service by the staff. My partner had a food allergy and the staff went above and beyond to let us know about any cross contamination.

Will come back later!! Saturday brunch couldn't have been better.
Alec Mckay
Lovely new eatery in Elliott Stables. Everything I've tried here has been fantastic and the pricing is pretty affordable. Special shoutout to the angry bird bun!
Sherman E C Ng
Had the Dandan Noodles and Sweet and Sour Pork. Both were tasty and fresh. The sweet and sour was particularly nice, home made flavours without the scary flourescent artificial colouring.
Wine & Dine
I have been here a couple times in the last 2 months since they opened and was very pleased. I often visit the stables to go to Bonz because they are amazing. As I came in last night I noticed they had changed there menu adding some great looking dishes. So I skipped my favorite Jerk Chicken from Bonz and indulged in this fusion extravaganza. I couldn't have been happier with my decision, chicken dumplings with coconut, jalapeno & pineapple WOW, pork belly bao awesome, little piggy ribs and peanut slaw OMG, wings, noodle, kung pow chicken all amazing.
This place ticks all the boxes cool atmosphere, great service, amazing food & priced right. Now my problem is how do I choose between Bonz & Bao Baby Bao.
Keep up the good work guys I love what you are doing.
Becca Barnes
Very tasty new Bao place in Elliot Stables. We tried the pork, and the soft shell crab - both were great. They had a good deal on, $13 for a Bao and their chunky chips. We also tried the dan dan noodles and found them a bit plain for our taste - would be good for a family though. (We would’ve really enjoyed them with a side of chilli perhaps?) The iced tea was cold and refreshing. Staff were lovely and the service was fast. All up it was very reasonably priced. Thanks for a good Saturday lunch!
Zen Loo
The food here was awesome.. very good priced as well... the Dumplings were very nice, you can taste all the ingredients, and the Chicken Bao was to die for...
Patrick Lee
Absolutely wonderful staff complement the delicious array of dishes on the menu.

I recommend getting a bao each and some dishes to share. My personal favourite is the pork belly bao! Their iced tea is also to die for, super refreshing.

The decor is incredible as well, from their mahjong wall to their mural, such a beautiful atmosphere!

Newly opened eatery at Elliot Stables, and was super keen to try it out! I ordered the Bao Belly Bao with Chunky Chips lunch special, and my friend got the Philly Cheesesteak Bao and the Dan Dan Noodles. This eatery is Asian Fusion, which is why there's a little twist to it. The Bao Belly Bao (consisted of Pork Belly, pork crackling and slaw) was really nice. The pork belly was drizzled with Hoisin sauce, which made it flavoursome. The pork belly was quite tender, however the bottom part, I found quite hard to chew. The fries were just made to perfection. Super chunky, sliced potatoes, not too salty. Dipping it in that spicy mayo sauce was so good! The Dan Dan Noodles was contained peanut sauce, instead of the usual Sichuan spicy sauce! My friend found it a bit salty for her liking. The Philly Cheesesteak Bao was stuffed with shaved wagyu beef with melted cheese and a bit of slaw. Overall, this place was lovely to dine at, with delicious food!
Ben Lilley
Really enjoyed this place, and probably the best food I’ve had at Elliot Stables. Big flavours, quick service and reasonably priced. Awesome work, will come back for sure.

So glad we found this little gem..! We ordered quite a lot off the menu and were delighted with all of the food. We ordered the pork, beef and chicken bao. And the pork dumplings , chicken dumplings and the beef salad. Really love the baos. We have been to a few places like chinoiserie and happy boy where the bao fillings are similar that u can't really taste the protein..here however , is a different story. The chicken angry bird bao is to die for !!

The dumplings are nice and juicy and handmade..the braised salad is generous with protein..totally recommend this place. Keep up the good work and totally love the decor especially the mahjong tiled wall.
