Review Popa's Pretzels - Auckland Central

Nay X
Always wanted to give it a go as it's normally packed in front of the shop - and it lived up to it. Among the very few pretzels I've ever tried, this is the best for a reasonable price. Crunchy outside and soft inside. As a huge bread fan, I especially adored the smell and taste of the pretzel itself. That being said, the minced beef stuffing is still good. Def will pay another visit.

Clearly those that have rated this place badly have no idea how a real pretzel needs to taste, feel and smell and how difficult it is to make them perfect. Pops Pretzels nailed it. The dough was perfect, crunchy on the outside while soft and tasty on the inside. Loved the pretzel sticks too, the meat was good and works well with dough and cheese, very yummy. I like the business ideas you have incooproated with sausage, fill eyc. My original pretzel was perfect thank you. I will be back for more

Adorable service, and such filling pretzels at such a good price! I know they look exactly the same, but I managed to munch down a savoury one (the feta cheese and veg? something like that) and a sweet one (chocolate I’m pretty sure!). But the fillings were an absolute damn delight, with the pretzels themselves being fluffy and crispy and just proper crack. Ten outta ten recommend, thank God for such a conveniently located stall so close to uni tbh😍

Really cheap and filling meal. They have interesting filled pretzels. They also have something called a manakish, which is almost like a calzone (folded pizza). They didn't have the lamb one when I was there so tried the traditional one and it was interesting. Crispy and cheesy. It had olives but it didn't make the whole thing to salty. Really friendly service and knew which order went to whom.

Since I tried their manakish (almost 10 days ago) I have tried almost everything their menu offers. If I try my best and find a mistake then it is possibly in the fact they do not offer spicier versions for people (like me) who love a bit of chili. The pretzels are soft, warm. fresh and crunchy at the same time. Can't decide whats better the pretzels or the attitude of the staff. In love with the place.

My all time favorite food shop in queen street. I could eat from Pretzel’a literally everyday and never get tired - but obviously I don’t. Sometimes my friend goes to get a pretzel for here self and something else for me. It’s nice that they make it all fresh right in front of your eyes, and it tastes really delicious. You could grab one on the go for lunch or even dinner. The only downside about them is that they close too early in the evening!
Aicha
Defs the best manaesh in NZ! Always get the spinach and cheese one with jalapenos and they never fail my expectations. Fast, affordable and very very yummy. I could eat there everyday. They do not respond to call orders as much as they should and they close too early!

This location has amazing food !! The one dish I always go back for is the lamb manakish it's such a nice dish, the staff have always been friendly and they are right in the heart of Auckland across from aotea square. Food is halal certified with the cert too. If your looking for small meal to fill you up tey the manakish here

Smells good, looks good, tastes good. Pretty quick service (well, as quick as an oven allows) and friendly lady behind the counter. They have coffee too apparently. I'm getting a pretzel dog and an apples & cinnamon pretzel to round it out.
Ahmed Al Ghusaini
Best preetzel place in town. Choose anything from the menu, and it will never be a wrong choice. I usually have spicy lamb and pretzel dog, both are super amazing 😍
Angela Yang
Got a classic poppy pretzel for $3.5. Was really good, came fresh out of the oven, nice texture and taste. Would buy again.
Nicole Biddle
Awesome staff, awesome value, highly recommend to all my friends and they love it too. Fast service, excellent food what more could you want?
David Forsyth
Delicious, quick, tasty & cheap. The perfect snack to keep you going. Can recommend the Spicy Lamb pretzel.
Yasir Al-Hilali
Pastries and pretzels baked fresh to order. Loved the wraps that they make and would prefer them over the kebab shops on the street.
Lisa Joe
I have tried all their flavours and they are just as good as the next one whether it's a classic rock salt pretzel or a cheesy chicken one, they are all to die for - plus it's cheap and quick
Y D
Great, fresh, handmade food! Supernice staff! Loved the Hot Bretzelsdogs and the TwoFranks. - no chance to sit there. 😅

You'll love the awesome Pretzels in town! Try the different flavors and they have loads of choices for vegetarians too...

I never eaten a pretzel or pretzels b4 but the one I had here is not your usual out of the bag snack, but a large apple turnover like pie in a shape of this, and call a apple cinnamon pretzel served hot too and was not bad.
Amit Tripuraneni
I had their Mince and cheese manakish and it was stunning. Flavorful meat, perfectly cooked and the bread was fresh too. Added jalapenos and that balanced everything perfectly. Good value for money. Must try.

Probably ONE OF THE BEST PRETZELS I’ve had in long, long time! <br/><br/>Tried their popular Chocolate and Walnut Pretzel. It’s one of those moments when you bite into it, and you go ‘THIS IS IT! THIS IS IT!’ I assume no matter what filling you are after, Popa’s Pretzels have a crisp, chewy texture - what a winner!!! <br/><br/>Although there was a long queue, their service was pretty quick. Very friendly service. Oh yes, convenient location and a clean premise.<br/><br/>Will definitely be back to try other pretzels and manakish from them.<br/><br/>Remember, it’s baked, not fried. So pretzels are better alternatives to all the other deep fried ‘goodies’ sold nearby. <br/><br/>If I can rate them 10, I would! I highly recommend Popa’s Pretzels and wish they could open a few more branches outside of CBD.<br/>

Delicious! Great location. Cute little shop. They had an issue with their ATM, so we had to pay cash. I ordered the cream cheese pretzel and that delicious, made me wanting more - but I'll definatley visit again to try others on offer.
SpoonMe
Ordered a cinnamon dusted pretzel $4.5<br/> Waited for less than 5mins which I thought was super fast considering they make it to order and god it yum good! <br/>Crispy and fluffy and warm on the inside! <br/>Great on the go lunch if you get the cheese filled one I think!
Alex Lenton
Really tasty!! Thry do an amazing salted caramel pretzel and also have savoury options!! The only bad thing about this place is that they close too early! :(
Rao
Get a fresh pretzel where possible, a premade one is just not as good. I haven't seen them premake in a while so perhaps they've stopped.<br/>The salted pretzel and walnut and chocolate is amazing.
Sam Diprose
this place is delicious. Fast, fresh (you can see it being made right in front of you), hot (sometimes too hot, almost burning my hands) and convenient for when you want something on your way up Queen st. I tend to go for the sweet options :)

One of Denny Setiawan fave’s food is pretzel.. and here they have filled pretzel so we give a try the one filled with cheddar cheese and yes it’s melted inside of the pretzel.. so yummy🤤🤤
Abdul Eraki
Great place, great food and great people. Best place to go for a warm snack that wont give you the guilty feeling. This place uses the best quality ingredients !! Keep up the good work

Perfect winter warm up treat love the chocolate and walnut one and the cheese and vegemite is also a winner. Service always fast and with a smile
Bailey
Brought lunch from Popa's Pretzel a couple of times and thought it was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Sehaj Mehra
Cannot get over Chicken Tandoori Manakish. It makes you drool. Also, staff is extremely friendly and reliable. Quick service and crispy pretzels steal the show. Favourite place always.
Gastrophilist
We had chocolate & walnut and cheddar cheese ones. Nice, crispy, and hot on a cold winter day. The portions of the pretzel where fillings were present were awesome, really yummy. Other parts were rather flavourless though.<br/><br/>Service is quick and good. Will be trying other varieties for sure.

Delish. Got the cream cheese n zatar pretzel. Hot an yummy. Wish that the filling was more evenly spead. Anyway can't wait to try the cheese n marmite next time I'm in akl. Nice area with different small and select food stalls/shops

How can you go wrong with a delicious pretzel when on the go?<br/><br/>I finally got the chance to try out these pretzels after seeing the reviews on Zomato.<br/><br/>Service: 9/10<br/>There was only one employee and a lot of people so I don’t blame him for being a little slow. He was very kind and prepared the pretzel within 10 minutes. <br/><br/>Food: 9/10<br/>I got the cream cheese and zaatar filled pretzel. It was overloaded with zaatar so the flavour was really strong, if there was a little less zaatar the flavour would be great with the cream cheese. The pretzel is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and warmed me up on a cold day. <br/><br/>Ambiance: 10/10<br/>It is a small stall like shop on queen street alongside many other snack shops. There isn’t a lot to talk about except that there isn’t seating but the overall shop is clean and the bright red colour creates a warms and vibrant feeling.
Tony Ma
Pleasantly surprised. <br/><br/>I was waiting for another order for food next to this shop. And I kept glancing over seeing people make orders and walking off then picking up. <br/><br/>I couldn’t help but to order the spicy lamb pretzel myself. <br/><br/>It was very very good. Made fresh, nice and hot, perfect seasoning.<br/><br/>Next time I’m gonna try the cheese flavour!<br/><br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Food Quality: 4/5<br/>Food Quantity: 4/5<br/>Presentation: 3/5<br/>Environment: 4/5<br/>Price per person: $8-$10

Every time I've ate at Popas it's been beautiful! Loads of vegan options and all very tasty! My favourite is the chocolate filled desert pretzel
Abdullah Mustafa
Had given a 5 star review last year, i am a regular there, at least 3 times a week. Everything used to be fresh, now certian items in the menu, specifically the pretzels are premade, so any adjustment to the order (i.e. extra cheese) they cant do. Unfortunetly the downside of premade food is that the quality decreases too...<br/>Hope this place goes back to how it was..
Tariq Az.
Love this place. Great menu, always served hot and great staff too. Spicy lamb pretzel really hits the spot on those cold wintery days. Got to be one of the best street food shops in Auckland serving halal food. Highly recommended.
Kiwi Eats Asia
I love this place, pretzels and mannakish made fresh for you with various fillings and topping. Watch them get put in the machine and roll out looking amazing. Every one I've had is absolutely delicious. My favourite savoury one is the "house " flavour with a herbs and cheese and olives inside the pretzel. I love the apple and spice one for sweet. Also love the mannakish version. This is a small hole in the wall kiosk with no seating but you can just pop across the road to Aotea Square for plenty of benches. Cheap, friendly and delicious - definitely worth making a stop in my books :)

I like to get a classic rock salt pretzel on my way to school. And grab a coffee. Perfect breakfast. And snacks. And lunch and dinner. O___O
Ravi
It's a good place with a decent customer service. However I was expecting a better dessert with a very yummy taste. In respect to a good overall review I was bit not satisfied.

I was strolling down Queen Street and had a craving for something sweet but warm. I always go by Popa's Pretzel but never realised that they sold sweet pretzels. <br/><br/>The lady serving me was super friendly and helpful. She recommed the Chocolate and Walnut filled Pretzel which I ordered. It was also vegan which was a bonus. <br/><br/>The pretzel was oozy with it's warm chocolate filling. Perfectly golden and chewy. For $5 it's a great sweet treat. When my sweet tooth is triggered again I'll definitely grab something from Popa's.
Rena Holstein
Such a nice place! Food was done pretty quick, the vegetarian options are great as well and there's heaps of it! The money you pay is well worth it!
Nikita Dipak Sarangdhar
Amazing manakish vegetarian as well as vegan!!! Loved it. I had it almost like 20times in 3months span!! Mamma Mia !! Worth paying every penny :)
Amesirv
Service is always excellence here and both the pretzels and manakish are incredible!!!!! Recommend the chocolate and walnut sweet pretzel, spinach manakish and vegan pretzel pie - All are delicious!
Annie Wilson
Absolutely delicious. Their pretzel are the best and made fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. With a wide range of flavours to choose from. <br/><br/>I miss going to university as I'd get one everyday before or after classes. <br/><br/>Their food goes well with a coffee too! <br/><br/>Super cheap pricing and good value for money!
Bogdan Cluj
The best pretzel in Auckland.<br/>You can try them sweet, plain or with filling. The taste is great and having them aleays fresh adds to the quality. <br/>Go and have a bite!
Jade0289
Been here multiple times and they always serve freshly backed yummy pretzel.<br/><br/>My favorite is the spinach& wasabi cream, the chocolate& walnut and the cream cheese one. So full of fillings and the bread is crispy outside& soft inside. The size was quite big and they are even bigger now! How generous!<br/><br/>Very nice quick bite and perfect with beer!
Vibha Sekhar
I went to this place on suggestion of my colleagues who told they have good vegetarian manakish. I have had the spinach and three cheese manakish and it was really tasty! Highly recommended for vegetarians.
Joseph Taleni
Came here after dinner tonight. Was my second time here and I came with the intention of getting the manakish. <br/><br/>My first time here we got the halomi pretzel and it was ok. I also got the sponach manakish both last time and this time. <br/><br/>Loved it this time but loved it even more last time. What was different? Last time I brought it for lunch the next day and refrigerated it. Heated it up the next day and I s**t you not... it was 5/5 <br/><br/>Also tried the pretzel dog.... ut was alright. <br/>

What a little gem of a find! For us this is the best snack In Auckland that we had. We went 3 times In 2 days they were so good! We ordered the spicy lamb pretzel, the cheese and spinach and the chocolate and walnut. All were incredible. We have big appetites and we're full after having a savory one each and shared a desert one. Great customer service too. Highly recommended! :-)
Heidi M
I have been here on three different occassions when I lived in central cbd I always order the custard and berries pretzel and it is always great for a quick dessert.
Tavita Milford
I tried their Chocolate/Walnut Pretzel and I was amazed how you can actually put fillings into a pretzel. Such innovation with food these days, it's great.
Nidhi Nangia
Very yummie food. We had lemon chicken manakish. It was worth visiting there. Value for money. Very cheap and all time favourite. The lady who attended us was nice and kind. Good service. Clean and tidy place.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos
Amazing little place with delicious snacks.<br/>We tried the spinach feta pretzel and the zatar pretzel.<br/><br/>Both delicious and good portions.<br/><br/>I love arabic food and these guys have got it right.<br/>

One of the best places in Auckland. I have been to several countries around the world and this place is my fav. Thanks Nick for the excellent services. <br/>Ehab

Food: I had the custard and berry Pretzel, amazing taste and crunchiness.<br/><br/>Price: Cheap! Only $4.50.<br/><br/>Environment: Super crowded looking kitchen, but the combination of all the small shops create the "street food" vibe.<br/><br/>Service: Biggest let down. The server would call out the order, then turn around to check the pretzels whilst during this time the person would have placed their hands up to say its their order. Then would call the order out again and get agitated that no ones owning up to the order. <br/><br/>Service was terrible and I believe its the service adds a huge part to the "street food vibe"

I used to come here all the time for their Caramel pretzels, now they only have the salted caramel ones. I usually love salted caramel things but this one is just too salty for me. I can't handle how salty that one is. Miss the caramel pretzels so much though, they should bring it back. Even my friends used to enjoy the caramel pretzels and now we've stopped going because it's not there anymore. Due to my love for the caramel pretzel, I'm giving 4 out of 5.
Rita Qin Hu
Had one dog with cheese, such a treat at 4:30pm when you are starving and the dinner is still far away. The staff was nice but looked very tired as we can tell the sunshine hit them very bad.
David Kravitz (Fandorin)
Great place, a friendly service and great food, I know them for 4 years now and they deliver every time. Try chicken and dill pretzel pie, it is amazing
LilMiss Foodie
I asked for their best seller, the nice guy recommended their cream cheese pretzel.. it was really nice and cheesy. LOVE IT! ❤️ You just earned yourself a regular customer yay :)
Lulu
I'm slowly making my way through all of their manakish everytime I'm in the city. So SO good! Always a bit of a queue here. Yet to try the pretzels.
Michelle Ma Belle
I seriously could not fault this place, it is that amazing. Our go-to place for a quick snack, or whenever I do not feel like making dinner. <br/><br/>It is a family-owned business and the guy serving us is always super friendly. The fact that you could observe the entire process of your order being made from scratch is also very attractive.<br/><br/>The pretzels are not the hard and crispy type which most people are more familiar with, but soft and chewy in its texture. They also offer a variety of fillings. My favourite is the plain cheese one or the cream cheese (I like anything cheesy!) Husband really fancies their pizza flavour - with pepperoni, tomato, olives, mushroom, and cheese. The Italian flavours are so well balanced that it truly converted him into an olive addict.<br/><br/>If you are not into pretzels, try out one of their manakish! Which is essentially like a pizza ;) They also cater to vegetarians and vegans.<br/><br/>For dessert, I really enjoyed the chocolate and walnut one, which is essentially like soft bread with nutella filling, but also crunchy bit. The apple & cinnamon one is lovely too.<br/><br/>One  of the best places in the heart of the city.<br/><br/>(Sorry but this was the only photo I could find! Normally finish it before I even think about taking a picture :p)

Rude owner. Was extremely short tempered with my partner who almost wanted to cry. We would never go again based on that alone. Customer service was great when only when his wife is there otherwise get ready to be blasted...like the responses he gives to other reviewers. Love the pretzels. no problems with time and price but with such attitude I would rather spend my $$ elsewhere.

A unique halal food experience! Tried their manakish - lemon chicken bbq, spicy lamb bbq and zaatar today as my partner and I were looking to grab a quick lunch on the run... All 3 of our orders which were freshly made were super delicious, warm, soft and perfectly spiced. The lamb bbq is a must have! The last time I tried the chocolate almond pretzel and wasn't quite impressed specially with the really long waiting time. Today we happened to be here an hour before lunch time.. And it was a good experience different to last time. The staff were very friendly, and the service was up to the mark. Try to be earlier than lunch hour here as they can get really busy at lunch hour.. I'm definitely coming back for more!
Tom
I have been twice to this place now.<br/><br/>Pros: <br/>Great choice/selection of pretzels.<br/>Fillings are really tasty.Great value for money.<br/><br/>Cons: Minor point - staff member who served me could have been slightly more enthusiastic.<br/><br/>Overall I really like the pretzels and intend to return soon to try out the other varieties.
Cool Cat
Such an amazing, cheap tasty snack! Often come back for more than one! Would highly recommend the pretzel with cream cheese and zartar, could honestly have this every day. Thank you for giving something hot and tasty for me to look forward to during my long uni days Popa's Pretzels! Service is always friendly and fast. Pretzels are made right in front of you fresh to go. Love, love, love
Winnie
This was my cheat eat while going back home from the library. So you know the time when you are so hungry that you forget to click a proper pic. This was that. <br/>This is a nice cozy place for eat on the go. They serve soft and regular pretzels. Savoury and sweet pretzels. Hotdog and apple cinnamon pretzels. A good visit. A small shop that the eye can miss amongst the hustle of queen street. <br/><br/>Price wise: $4.50 for a soft filled pretzel $3 for soft baked pretzel. <br/>Return I must :)<br/><br/>Please pardon the lack of proper pics
Emma Patricia Katili
Popa's pretzel is the epitome of dough perfection. Their pretzels are soft and chewy without seeming undercooked. I ate the cream cheese pretzel and the filling isn't overly salty or overwhelming the taste of the pretzel itself.
Purita Mok
Thank you so much for having a vegan option for the manakish! It was so so delicious and filling. The herbs and mushrooms and walnuts went well together! Look forward to trying your vegan pretzel as well!
Rachel Sun
I frequently visit this stall near civic for their delicious pretzels, and for such good prices! The owner is very lovely. Each pretzel is a decent size, enough for a snack or a light meal. My favourites are the pizza pretzel which come with a generous amount of mushrooms, sausage, cheese and olives, and the marmite & cheese pretzel. A friend really enjoys the spinach manakish, especially because it is vegan. There is usually a five minute wait for a pretzel as they are made on the spot, but it's so worth it as they come out soft and warm. A must visit on Queenstreet!
Mat
Who doesn't love a good pretzel? I've walked past this joint many times but have never had an empty stomach to scoff down a pretzel- until the other week.<br/><br/>I ordered the chocolate powdered pretzel and enjoyed nibbling on it- soft, doughy and warm, what more can you want. I'm Interested in trying out some of their Manakish options from the menu board.

■ Good flavours<br/>■ Cool staff<br/>■ Cheap eats<br/><br/>So soft, warm and fresh out of the oven. Dunno how I havent heard about this place before but I think they're a fairly new setup on Queens. Their savoury pretzels are so good! The prices are really reasonable as well and they are pretty huge in size so good bang for your buck. I tried their Vegetarian Pretzilla today and even though the combo sounds really spicey with the Wasabi and Jalapeno, it was actually nothing you can't handle and the Feta cheese and spinach gave a really nice & creamy texture to the filling. I wasn't a huge fan of the peas though, just coz it was real crunchy and just felt a bit weird to me.<br/><br/>The guy working there is so chatty and friendly!! I was the only customer at the time and I dunno if it was coz the place had been quiet for them during the day but he said that I was making him nervous hahahaha.<br/><br/>Great service on the go and the  Chocolate & Walnut pretzel's definitely on my bucketlist!<br/><br/>
Annie Ren
I've always heard amazing things about popa's and it's great to be able to finally give their pretzels a taste. I had the cinnamon pretzel as I had a sweet tooth today and the pretzel was lovely. The pretzel was kept warm in the oven and the dough was so tangy and soft at the same time. The cinnamon flavor also seeped through the pretzel really well without being too overpowering. I'm definitely keen to try their signature stuffed pretzel next time!
Ryoma
Yummy. But the poor buggers who work in that environment wouldn't think so. Welcome to New Zealand, thank you for working so hard in that shitty environment to deliver yummy pretzels.
Issie
Consistant quality and the owner is really friendly. I never had a thing for pretzels but now i loveee them. Whether sweet or savoury this place knows how to do it best. Great bite to have but 1 pretzel is pretty filling already. Prices are reasonable and they are made fresh which is the perks of this pretzel place!
SS
Those little salt covered crunchy knots in bags are giving pretzels a bad name!!<br/><br/>Popa's pretzels are seriously mouth watering. They’re freshly baked warm doughy delights filled or topped with whatever pleases you - seriously ranges from sesame seed to mince and cheese!! We tried the pizza pretzel (cheese, olives, salami) and the cheese filled pretzel. I loved them both and seriously cant wait to try more!! <br/>
Rojas
If you like good food you should come here! The best pretzels in NZ by far! The owner is very friendly and great to chat to. My partner and I tried the apple and cinnamon pretzel which tasted great; the right mix of apple and spice with a semi soft preztel. The cream cheese pretzel works supririsnginly well with a good mix of sour and sweet flavours. The chocolate pretzel is the perfect sweet treat and oozes chocolately goodness. The preztel pies are fantastic! The chicken and mushroom is absolutely amazing combing chicken, mushroom and cheese packed into a soft, delicious pretzel, unlike anything I've ever had before and totally addictive! My partner and I also tried their house manakish; a perfect mixture of cheese, mushroom and light spice. We will definitely be regulars here and try everything on their menu. Well worth a visit and very reasonable prices and great service!
Emma Wingrove
This is one of my favourite places to go in the CBD and I always recommend it to colleagues.I normally get the vegetarian pretzel pie and am too scared to branch out in case I'm disappointed but today I went for the cheese and marmite pretzel and a chocolate and walnut one. Far from disappointing. Melted cheesey goodness followed by melted chocolately goodness, what more could I want?!<br/>These pretzels are always perfection even though the staff are always going flat tack no matter what time I go, and service is always great no matter how busy they are. I always find they they hit the spot regardless of how hungry I am and they have a real comfort factor to them.
Chloe LeMunyan
Amazing vegan options. So tasty. I was only in Auckland for 2 days and ended up going here two times!!! Love the guy who works there too. Amazing service.
Adeline
I got the chocolate and walnut pretzel and it was delicious. It was freshly baked so nice and warm, and the filling was balanced right so not too sweet. It was also discounted as part of a christmas promotion- even better!
Jesse James .
This was my first big pretzel, i had never tried one in the past because when I think of pretzels I think of those horrible small crunchy things. I got the chocolate and nut filled one - absolutely amazing.<br/>
Annette Wong
Awesome service and food! While I have never eaten a large pretzel before, this did not dissapoint! My favourite food combination is spinach and feta so I jumped at the chance to try this on a pretzel. The feta was oozy and warm bunched in the spinach. The pretzel nice and toasty with a crunch <br/><br/>Recommended to all <br/><br/>I will be returning very soon!
Meo Méo
Amazing taste, very nice staffs ! I come to have this delicious manakish severals time per week ! My favorite fastfood in town !!!!!! Just love it !!!
Marcella
What a tasty little treat!! Read good things about this place and I was not disappointed! <br/><br/>After some discussions with the friendly lady, I ended up getting their pizza pretzel and man, was that delicious! Loved how soft yet crunchy the pretzel dough was and the filling was just the right amount. It had everything that I love- mozzarella, olives and pepperoni. Yum! I liked the sauce as well, tangy and sweet. <br/><br/>Can't wait to come back to try the sweet pretzels next time. Chocolate and walnut, here I come!
Athena
Always fresh and delicious, the only problem is that if you go after 6pm, the wait can drag upto 30 minutes. The manakish have to consumed within a few hours as they become hard the next day. Favourates are sausage, zaatar, spinach & jalapeno & feta (ask them for half quantities otherwise it can be overwhelming)
Jess
Warm, delicious, and crispy. Good variety of fillings. Great location. I got a cream cheese filled savoury pretzel. The wait was a bit long, but it was worth it.
Benjamin Levy
I just love the place, what a great alternative to all the fried food. Always fresh and crispy, there is a large choice of products from savoury to salty to fit everyone wishes. The regularly update there menu and come up with new delicious recipes so make sure to come back. <br/>If you have never tried real European pretzels, you should give it a try, because it's the real deal and i bet you won't be disappointed.
Manu
My first time trying this place out and I went with the safe option of Chocolate and Walnut sweet pretzel. Overall I'm satisfied with it. It was enjoyable. I would like to go back and try some other options as well. Lady was nice especially early in the morning.
Veganista
Absolutely delicious! I loved pretzels before going vegan, so it was great to be able to have them again. They were chewy and crunchy in all the right places. Can't wait to try one of the sweet ones, as I've only ever had savoury. Awesome to see many vegan options :)
Razelle Icaro
Conveniently located by Aotea Square, really close to uni. Their pretzels are the best when freshly made and the caramel pretzel and the nutella and walnut flavours are probably the best. I do want to try their savoury ones next! ZomatoStudents
Helena Chen
Pretzels should definitely be a more common thing in NZ! This place really fills this void and does some amazing flavours with their pretzels. I've tried the pizza one, which is filled with cheese and meaty pizza toppings, as well as a the poppy seed, which is nice and simple but so good at the same time. The texture is great and they make the perfect snack between meals. Such a handy location, and friendly staff too. Try it out if you have never had a full on, doughy pretzel before!
Ridad
Pretzels are soo yummy. Freshly made and warm. I tried the chocolate and walnut which was amazing and hubby got the cream cheese one, which seems to be extremely popular. Lots of other things on the menu which we'll go back and try. Service was great, the guy made me a fresh one even though he already had one ready; because we were going to be waiting for my husband's one to be made anyways.
Conrad Fraser
Popa's Pretzel's pretzels are amazing. My first one was a chocolate and walnut pretzel and it was one of the tastiest desserts I have ever had. It was hot and fresh and the chocolate was still melted. Yum! Last night I went to an event run by AIESEC called "In-Touch" and they provided us with some of Popa's Pretzels. They must have been fresh because they were still warm and delicious. I highly recommend!
Kevin Sim
I've never tried legitimate pretzels before, I've always had those small one in packets but trying the real deal was sooooo worth it! I love the texture and how soft it is in side haha. Bought 2 to take to the movies with my girlfriend ^^
Kuna Santhrasergaran
Small little place on upper queen street with the best pretzels i've ever had. Always warm and tasty and the staff are always so nice and friendly as well. Absolutely love the chocolate and walnut ones, sooo good!
Yi Zhang
Pretzels are always nice and warm here. Super tasty to the last bite and really good for when on the go! Friendly service every time I go there as well :)

There is absolutely nothing bad I could say about this place! the pretzels are delicious! The man who worked there was so nice and friendly which made it even better. My pretzel was freshly made so when I received it it smelt like fresh bread and was super warm. <br/>I bought the salted caramel sweet filled pretzel and the texture and taste of the dough was sooooo good! It had a nice crunch and colour to the outside of it but fluffy and soft on the inside. I had the salted caramel as he ran out of sweet caramel (but I am totally fine with this as salted caramel was probably what I would've chosen anyway) and it wasn't too thick or too runny and it was warm and just the perfect balance of salty and sweet. <br/><br/>Definite 5/5 on this one! Would definitely be coming back again and again :)

Popa's pretzels is a hole-in-the-wall style snackery, offering pretzels in all varieties and flavours. It's perfect if you're hungry but just want a snack and not a full meal. They have regular pretzels, pretzels with fillings and now pretzel pies, pretzel sandwiches, hot dog pretzels and pretzel banh mi. That's a lot of different ways to serve a pretzel. On my first visit I got the cream cheese& zaatar filled pretzel and it was so good I haven't been able to bring myself to try any of the others although I have sampled the apple & cinnamon and custard & berries which were also both really tasty. It seems I only go to Popa's when I'm in a savoury mood. Next time I think I will try the marmite & cheese, that sounds good. At $4.50 for a filled pretzel it's pretty good value.

I used to come here when it was upper queen street even though it was a bit out if way - but now that they've moved a bit closer to busy queen street its even better! Business seems to be a bit better for them too as I've noticed new staff! The pretzels are ALWAYS fresh and delicious, so happy that the owner has exposed real pretzels to kiwi land! The staff and owner are super friendly! And it's well worth the wait if theres a line!!

Nice hot pretzels. Some different and unusual types that can be hard to find too. A nice cheap and tasty snack to pick up if you're nearby. Quick service.

Love it <br/>First time I had the caramel pretzel <br/>Ohh Mann. <br/>It wasn't too sweet and it was like a thick custard texture And it oozed out of the pretz <br/>I love how it bakes fresh out of the Oven <br/>With a caramelised outer shell and the soft bread dough on the outside <br/><br/>It was soo good that I came back half an hour later to purchase another one. The berry and custard one was also lacking in sugar but not in a good way <br/>I was not expecting the filling to be pink. It great that it had berries throughout to give it tartness but it was t for me <br/><br/>But the second time I had it a week later <br/>The Carmel was much too sweet <br/>Did not like it at all <br/><br/>maybe I will try the savoury ones one day <br/><br/>

Was feeling like savory today so decided to go with the cheesey marmite filled donut. It was $4.50 and I got a free salt pretzel with it, what a deal! They were both freshly made which was great. Looooveed the cheese and marmite filled one. Was so warm and gooey with the perfect amount of crunch to it. The 2 ladies working there were very friendly and smiley! Can't wait to go back and try the caramel and custard filled ones! Yum!

Visited Popa's Pretzel on Queen Street today and sampled two pretzels. I have tried their pretzels before and was keen to try again.<br/><br/>I got the salted and cheese topped pretzels and I was not disappointed. These are the best pretzels I have had outside of Germany.<br/><br/>Great soft but crunchy bread, and just the right amount of salt and cheese. I did have to wait a few minutes as the guy in the shop was cooking up a batch at the time, but what's a couple of minutes. All it meant was that I got fresh pretzels straight out of the oven! I will definitely be heading back to try more of their options soon!<br/><br/>Check it out, they are great!

The best pretzels i have had in Auckland. I love their cheese filled pretzels and their chocolate filled pretzels. Sometimes there's already some on the heated platform but the best ones are the ones made as you order. The service is exceptional too. Their very approachable and friendly. Love having this snack when i finish a long day at Uni.

Reminds me of studying German back in High school. More precisely the 'Bretzel' (pretzels being the smaller, crispier snack size version), can be cooked to order if you want that warm fluffy texture. My favourite is the chocolate and walnut or simply their 'original.' If in doubt, ask for samples!! They will be more than willing to give you samples on certain flavours. This place place has become one of my favourite after meal visits as a dessert or for a late night snack. Try this place out!!!

I normally eat the delicious chocolate&walnut and Apple&cinnamon, but tonight I went against tradition and had the spinach manakish; it was so good.<br/>Cannot recommend this place enough. Very good value for money and heaps of choice.  The staff are always friendly and will quickly whip up a fresh pretzel for you while you wait. <br/><br/>Go and enjoy!

Pretty freaking amazing! Bought the Cheese & Marmite Pretzel and the Custard & Berries Pretzel (below). OMG! THE BOMB!! I'm not one to like marmite but DAMN it tasted soooo good with that cheese! But was a little too salty after a few more bites. <br/><br/>The man who served me was very nice and made my pretzels FRESH! Crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. Totally worth that 5-10mins wait. Highly recommended.

Popa's Pretzels are AMAZING! I ordered them for a work function to go along with some beers and they were perfect. I ordered the Sea Salt, Cheese, Sesame Seed and Poppy seed pretzels, they were delivered hot, fresh and so deliciously soft. Narcis (the delightful owner) also made us up some fresh creamy dips to go alongside the pretzels. <br/><br/>Divine!
