Review Atomic Roastery Kingsland - Auckland Central

Carly Peart
We came here on recommendation from a family member and so glad we did. The service was fantastic and we were made to feel so welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. Coffees were large and strong. They roast their own beans, so I bought some to take home and enjoy. The food was delicious (we had the homemade corned beef hash) and they very kindly spread it over two plates as were sharing. It’s clearly a popular choice with locals as it was fairly busy and there was a lovely buzz in the air. I’d definitely come back here and would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Delicious vegan options 🌿 I recommend the vegan bean and avo burrito 🌯 but the smashed avo on toast looked great too. This cafe is busy, so don't expect a quiet spot. You'll be able to find a table though, as it's big!
Jina Kim
Lovely coffee at a reasonable price. They roast their own beans. Great Saturday morning vibes. Relaxed and friendly. Ordered a Cold brew and a Tasting Tray (consists of espresso, cold brew & piccolo). Along with the coffee we ordered a bran muffin with blueberry and a hint of white chocolate.

Just had an awesome experience thanks to Mitch at Atomic!! I went there to get get advice on decaffeinated coffee beans. I was delighted to get the "real deal" from the processing of the beans, how to grind and what type of maker to use. To top it off, I left with a complimentary coffee & scone. Oh, I brought decaf beans too. I'll be back. Well done Mitch and Atomic Kingsland.

5/5 Cabinet Breakfast Burger 5/5 Black Coffee (they gave me foamed milk on the side to try out) 🤌 5/5 coffee variation (try the coffee tasting menu) Overall, very satisfied with my visit. A lot of attention to detail is appreciated. Thank you Atomic crew🙏

felt like trying a "new" coffee shop this morning , I was in my pyjama trousers and came to this one. Coffee is not bad ,to be honest.I was considering to get some beans from here to try for real. Service was...hmmm.... ok. (there was a guy was very nice and patient, dunt know his name. ) Maybe will come back for a takeaway coffee . Interesting interior and structure, very impressive. Worth to come to see

Cappuccino, coffee trio, french toast and sausage xxx. Definitely will visit again!

This gem of a cafe serves beter Mexican food than most places in New zealand. Get their Huevos Rancheros. The last time o was here i was good the 2nd time it was even better.
Ross Batchelor
Great coffee & kai. Dogs allowed outside only, but comfy spots there. Staff had a certain disinterested-chic vibe on a Sunday morning - seemed they could all do with a pre-shift Powerade or cold shower!

Came in this morning for an almond flat white and was not disappointed. While it does take some extra time due to the popularity, it’s well worth it. Hard to find a place that does almond milk well, so worth holding onto when ya do! The woman at the till was super friendly and gave me a discount for bringing my own cup! While I got a take away, the environment is lovely and welcoming as well. Will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.

Excellent coffee and very courteous staff. My better half got her breakfast order mixed up. They still made her a different breakfast and did not charge us more which was very customer centric of them:)
Emma Bartlett
Love your coffee, and brunch this morning was excellent- roast pears and cinnamon labeneh a good twist on traditional French toast. Just a shame about your rude waitress who said " it's counter service" in a very snarky tone when I asked for a menu ( doesn't seem unreasonable in a cafe!). An unpleasant edge on an otherwise super visit.
Trish Strongman
Coffee is really great but service is not. They promise if you order before 12 you will get your beans the next day. You won't. Ordered 7am Thursday, emailed in at 4pm Friday to say it hadn't arrived and still no reply (it's now after 5)......and this is the second time this has happened. Pity because the beans are good. Remember this when you place an order

Ultimate spot for great coffee (obviously), amazing food and good vibes. :-)

My Auntie and I went to The Rocket Store on Ponsonby Rd this afternoon and ordered an Iced Mocha and an Iced Coffee which we paid $10 for. I had asked for cream and was not given cream in my drink, We were thoroughly unimpressed as we couldn't drink what was made. We are both coffee lovers and drink coffee on a daily basis. I spoke with customer service asking where the chocolate was in my mocha and was told to stir it. We were so unimpressed and disgusted with the lack of service and the product that we left our quickly tasted drinks on the table and walked out to another cafe.

Good food & Coffee, friendly service.Great place to start the day.
Grant Backhouse
Great coffee and terrific food. Just what you need from the cafe round the corner

Love Atomic: always offer healthy and indulgent food options, fab coffee, great staff.

Just had the smoothest soy cappa this morning down in Queenstown. Perfect morning pick me up, great work guys

Great place, excellent crew.. friendly, funny and relaxing

$6 for an undrinkable 8oz flat white... coffee was burnt and tasted like dirt. Won’t be back even if the coffee was free

Coffee that goes BOOM! - awesome staff too... _ VW _

That avocado smash and crispy salsa verde! OH MAN YES! :D
Scott Tibbutt
Great vibe to hang out & chill on a weekend morning
Matt Anderson
Solid coffee and staff who took pity on my clearly sleep deprived state to help me deal with eftpos and subsequently gave me a free cake. Absolute heroes.
Ken Allison
Great atmosphere! Great food! Great service!

What happened to ure coffee. I really use to enjoy ure coffee now it's so bitter and discussting. I heard u gave training to cafes recently. Since then I can't stand atomic coffee.

Fran is a genius as are her team - food and service %
Jun Arita
Nice and loved it!!
Charles Ho
Food is bland. Bit overpriced to quantity of food.
Meghan Kerr-Phillips
Brilliant, consist good coffee.
Shannon
Busy cafe but plenty of inside seating. Had the smoked salmon bagel and tasting tray. Salmon was great, large portion and good quality. Would have been nicer warm though. Liked the novelty of the tasting tray, great way to try coffee in a variety of ways.
Greg White
Great coffee, cool atmosphere. (And sparking water!)

LOVE atomics coffee - I’ll usually just stop off when passing to grab one. Consistently good 👌🏼<br/>Their food is pretty yum too. None of that hipster fairy floss, just good, “normally” brekkie food<br/>I like sitting outside here, it’s got s great vibe, especially if summer as it’s north facing.<br/>Highly recommend 👍🏼☕️
I'm Hungry
Went here to buy ground coffee, and got a free coffee to drink!! Isn't that great. You can bring your own container and they fill it up - NO PACKAGING COFFEE.
Tanya Chalermtip
Definitely one of the best cafe, I have been here a few times and I always love the coffee and drinks from Atomic cafe. Good quality beans! This time I also got a chance to try a donut, which is really nice as well, soft and not overly sweet.

One of the few spots in Auckland where you can pop on in with your laptop and work away while enjoying some delicious coffee. They do a nice egg on toast here but honestly, I just like it as a great spot to work at or catch up with a few friends.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Coffee is fantastic.<br/><br/>Overall Grade: B+

Arrived at 2:59 to buy coffee beans and they refused to sell because they closed at 3pm. They should advertise their hours as “close at 2:59 pm not 3:00pm” - I think this is more accurate. I understand that staff want to leave by 3pm but one transaction that lasts literally 15 seconds is not going to delay them. Appalled at the customer service .

One of the best coffees in Auckland. Definitely. We went with some friends for brunch. The place is not that big, but was packed! Very popular. Great food, well prepared and big plates. Really enjoyed it. Definitely returning soon. A gem in Kingsland.
Auckland Foodie
Absolutely loved this place! Came here for breakfast, coffee and to study (as they have free WiFi). I ordered a yummy granola and their tasting tray which had an espresso, a cold brew and a very small latte (only for $6). Presentation was beautiful as well. I also bought coffee for my coffee machine at home and afterwards received a card for a free coffee because of this. Staff was super friendly as well. Will definitely be back here for another study session!

My local in Kingsland.Always consistently great coffe & food. Staff are always friendly AND they have sparkling water on tap, alongside still that you can just help yourself to.Can get busy and that just adds to the vibe, it still never feels cramped or unable to hear yourself.Always have meetings here as parking is generally accessible and it's easy to find.
Alisdair Watson
Been a regular customer of Atomic over the years and always keep coming back for the great coffee and amazing cakes and treats. Can get pretty busy in the weekends but still a great experience! <br/>
CarlyB
A buzzing cafe with great coffee. Even offered my husband a tasting of coffee he was interested in. Food was good (we had a mix of cabinet food and menu dishes) although took a little long to be served. Would go back just for the coffee.

$10 for an avocado chicken wrap was way too much (which also tasted like cardboard), I only came here because I was running late to work and had to find something to eat quickly. <br/><br/>Atomic is too hip for me.
Farshid Hakimi
One of the best coffee I ever had it was this place .<br/>We had some breakfast here.<br/>My favorite of on this dish was homemade hash brown .<br/>It was crispy and tasty.<br/>Bacon was cooked prefect too.<br/>Loved it.<br/>Customer service were on point too.<br/>There is lor of place to dine in.<br/>Must recommend it.

So after a morning massage at the golden thai fingers in kingsland, me and the flatmate went here for coffee and cake. We normally get coffee here regularly, my flat mate swears by this coffee and hes pretty much a coffee expert. Looking forward to a breakfast here sometime (been to full every time we come)<br/><br/>THE FOOD/COFEE (4/5) <br/>We got a passionfruit type cake which was on point. Enjoyed the icing. <br/>I had a mocha and he had latte which couldnt be faulted. <br/><br/>THE ENVIRONMENT (3/5) <br/>The design is trendy, but I personay dont enjoy raising my voice for normal conversation. People bring dogs regularly which is a bonus for me. <br/><br/>THE SERVICE (4/5) <br/>Although their not the most amazing staff, theres something about them i am quiet fond off. <br/>

Always an old favourite in Kingsland, this was the perfect place to cozy up in to revel in the aroma of freshly roasted beans (we mean it, there's a roaster right there behind glass panes) and warm baking. Today we were particuarly intrigued by the Vietnamese-flavoured pull-pork baguette (can lime and lemongrass go wrong, ever?) and the pumpkin & quinoa salad. Such flavour, surprisingly hearty. Seatings never the highlight of this cafe, but we trust it's consistent cuppa and cookery! <br/>Briar had the pulled pork baguette. She said 'Couldn't tell what the herbs were till we realised — star anise! genius.'<br/><br/>Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/atomic-cafe-apr-2014

Popped in today for a quick bite and coffee, service was good, but the omelette omg was good I could get use to this vegetarian life so much flavour and it was hot right through till last bite yum, coffee beans a brewing right on site so you no it's gonna be good and that it was, maybe back tomorrow thanks guys 🙏

Love their coffee and cabinet food. The breakfast wrap is a must try along with spicy chai latte. Modern setting with large glass doors. The waiting period can be a problem if you are in a rush but it's worth it.
Travels4Food
Nice, open and modern setting with good cabinet and cooked food. I had the omelet with goat cheese. I was hoping the goat cheese made more of a cut through the egg but it was quite foamy. To be expected when put on top of a hot egg I guess. Large generous mushrooms though.

We went to Atomic on 31st August. We ordered salmon bagel. Bagel was freshly toasted and fried capers gives a crunchiness and flavour to the dish. It was simple dish but pleasant meal with a good coffee. <br/><br/>
AL
Waitress was terrible, I was first in line to order at the counter and she served the person BEHIND me first, how incredibly rude, when I tried to order she said 'I'm speaking to him first' ??? soured my entire experience after that day, I used to be a loyal customer from when they were just a hole in the wall shop with the coffee roasters. Won't be returning again
Wildpantry
2 stars for service. Food took 35-40 minutes at 12.30pm Sunday seating with the cafe less than 50% full. Waitress forgot our water. No one else noticed the entire time. <br/><br/>The Ham, provolone omelette was delicious 4.5 stars. Generous is size, ham and cheese. Also nice big topping of salad greens on top to freshen the meal. <br/><br/>Hash cakes with bacon and poached egg is 2 stars. The poached egg was over cooked, no runny yolk and the potato hash cakes looked great and had a golden crunch on the outside but the insides were too wet. <br/><br/>It was a hit and miss like last time which is probably why we only frequent here once a year.
ShoRt
Highly rate their coffee! Roasted in-house I know that they value their coffee quality. Baristas are well trained and my dry cap always taste delicious. <br/><br/>Food wise, I love their freshly baked muffins / cabinet food (also prepared on site!). However the breakfast menu doesn't have anything that I really fancy. But do keep an eye because menu changes. <br/><br/>Decor - loving the black and copper look. Very cool hanging lights and great natural sunlight too. Sit by the window and people watch :) <br/><br/>Service is quick and friendly.

atomic its a nice place, good coffee and enough place to meet with friends.<br/>also its nice to see how the roast coffee!<br/>

My Flatmate visits Atomic most days for his morning coffee. I joined him recently for lunch and grabbed the avocado and edamame bean smash. The portions are definitely on the light side here but it was delicious and just the right amount of food. Would definitely visit again.
Nicola Chapman
Came here today for the first time after it has been refurbished and I was so impressed. The coffee was amazing and I would highly recommend the smoky creamed corn - I'm still dreaming about it! Prices could be a little cheaper and seating was a little bit of an issue but these were minor details. Nice one Atomic!
Love The Experience, Love The Brand.
As an experience, it has it all. Typical kings land hipster coffee nerds, and a smart but chilled vibe. No problem getting coffee, smooth flat white and a fresh and tasty V60.
Emma McMillan
I really enjoy coming to this place. It has fantastic coffee and a great atmosphere. The staff are always really nice and seem to enjoy their jobs. I've never been very impressed by the food however. It's very generic food and quite high prices. The fantastic coffee often makes up for that.
Aabhas Dole
This place is a perfect breakfast destination. Amazing service, ambience, location and most importantly the quality and taste of the food and coffees.<br/>Would totally recommend this place on a nice sunny day so that you can sit outside on their interesting seatings.<br/><br/>Will I come back here - Yes.
Frank
With its industrial style fitout, concrete tables and coffee roastery in behind the tables, this place oozes style. Compared to Citizen Park nearby, the seating is more limited, so it was difficult to find somewhere to sit the four of us. In the end we scrounged some chairs and a wobbly table together :-) No table service, so tricky to order. My salmon bagel was fabulous, but the other diners weren't as satisfied. I liked the edgy flair, but it let down a bit, however it could still be something sensational with a small bit of effort!

I came to know Atomic because it was on metro eats for the best Cafes in Auckland 2014.  So I have visited today with some expectation but end up with great disappointment. <br/><br/>The food was quite pricey consider the portion size, and taste was just average, coffee was quite good. The services was the WORST that I have ever experienced in Auckland so far. The lady at the counter was EXTREMELY rude, I was so close to tell her that her services was unacceptable. <br/><br/>Anyway, I will NEVER come back.  And by the way, this is the very FIRST time I have ever leave such a negative feedback for any cafe so far.
Justin Leung
It was a fine experience in the atomic. Interesting decor and quiet environment for a quick lunch and coffee. Overall, average coffee but the food is good. A little overprice compared to ssimilar cafes. Staff should have more interaction with customers and smile. Do recommend this.
Paul Evans
Great coffee, stylish industrial fit out and beautiful cabinet food. <br/><br/>Small menu, but it's nice because it's not your usual brunch fare. Baked eggs all the way.
Jessie Tan
Coffee is great. Had the barrister Trio with espresso, cascara and a piccolo included. And their coffee art is on point even with the small as cup. <br/>Food however is a little over price for its portion but quality is great. I had the mushrooms and taste was amazing. French toast was average<br/>
Sarah Marie Reynolds
I wasn't overly impressed with the coffee both times I've been here. It didn't really leave a lasting impression on me. Although, I really do enjoy the minimalistic decor and atmosphere - concrete and brass accenting really set the mood for this place! And the staff is quite friendly and attentive.
HungryGirl
Some of the best coffee in Auckland, mix that with awesome cabinet food and lovely service and you have a winner. Will definitely be returning ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Two Dark Coffees
I think Kingsland is the next up and coming subrub, with cafes like Mondays and Citizen park, it's only time until Ponsonby has a bit of competition.<br/><br/>This week alone I have visited Kingsland's Atomic four times and I expect this number to grow. <br/><br/>Sitting at the end of a concrete community table with a continual supply of fresh coffee suits me just fine. Additionally with seasonal menus, Atomic keeps things interesting and fresh for regulars and people looking for a decent bite to eat. <br/><br/>With up to date magazines for a light read and a music playlist you could spend all day listening to, this space ticks most of the boxes. <br/><br/>Unfortunately the kitchen closes at 2.00pm which I feel is a tad too early but foot traffic does start slowing down at this point. <br/><br/>Large glass windows towards the back of the cafe allows you to peer in to the roasting room and see the magic happen. On top of that you can buy their beans straight over the counter, but why not try a cup in-store beforehand? <br/><br/>Sarah Reynolds #Challenge

As a long standing hospo worker I'm generally pretty forgiving when it comes to service however, today's visit left me a little disappointed, especially in what is one of Auckland's best cafes! The coffee was to die for and the food fantastic - though my bagel did come with lettuce instead of rocket - obviously not the biggest deal but it would've been nice to have been told that this was the case. Our Brioche never arrived either, but none of the staff who brought us coffee/food stuck round long enough for us to mention this & I wasn't willing to wait in the line which was now out the door. This also deterred us from ordering anymore coffees.. There is definitely something to be said for table vs. counter service. I completely understand that weekends and Sundays in particular are mad rush busy but in the customer service industry this, to me, is no excuse to not flash a brief smile and double check to make sure everything is OK.

This place is always happening and always serves fresh, delicious food. Their coffee's great and we love coming here for brunch. Even though they don't have a standard eggs beni dish, you can pretty much taylor make one from all of the offered dishes. But why would you, when there's so much more on offer? Their cinnamon brioche's are always fresh too. This is a great place for Saturday brunch. Definitely worth more than a 3 in my book!
Sungsam7
I love everything about this place. The decor, atmosphere, service, food and the coffee...just primo! If you get there early enough at the weekends there is parking right out front. The pancakes are one of my faves with that beautiful syrup ??
Amy @ My Dining Journey
Food: With coffee taking the spotlight at Atomic, there are only a handful of dishes on the menu. My fluffy coconut pancake with baked apricots was a perfect example of sweet and tart balance. We highly recommend the creamed corn with bacon, grilled tomato and toast. A mixture of firm corn kernels in a delicious light buttery cream, a great use of fresh seasonal ingredients.<br/><br/>Coffee: Atomic coffee (of course). I had the Barista’s Trio which was comprised of a piccolo, a cool glass of casara and an intense shot of espresso. Nothing short of perfection – beautiful aroma with a rich lingering taste<br/><br/>Price: Dishes range from $5 to $18.<br/><br/>Location and Parking: Situated on New North Road and at the start of the Kingsland shops, you can find ample street parking around Atomic.<br/><br/>Dining Experience: The three of us brought the pups with us on our doggie day out and we sat outside to enjoy the sun and people-watched as the locals walked by. Service was friendly, food came out in a timely manner and overall, Atomic has a calm chill vibe, making it an ideal location to sit back and unwind.
Jess Fu
Enjoyed the food and coffee but it was a shame that the person at the till was a bit rude. They got my order wrong and the girl didn't apologize or anything and acted as if it was an inconvenience that i didn't want the chicken wrap, which i didnt order.
ANDREW RITSON
Good coffee, good quick service staff not that friendly a bit to cool for school I always try to be friendly with staff as I work in the trade I know what it can be like but being polite and having conversation skills never go a miss would make it a regular place otherwise but not feeling that inclined to until it's addressed.
Elena
I heard that the coffee they serve was great so I had to take my family there . Coffee was really good. Really small menu on black board, not much option for breakfast. I ordered scramble egg for my kid but they said not on menu so cant do it . it was disappointed. my sandwich was nice. Great place for coffee but not for a good breakfast or lunch .
Stella T
Love the baked goods on offer especially canales, brioche and the most amazing marshmallow caramel slice! Delicious!! I don't order from the 'boring' menu (cos it's boring of course! muesli, toast, eggs etc) I always have the parsnip cake, ham hock and apple witlof salad, one of the more interesting brunch dishes Ive seen in a cafe. My partner tried the new bagel offering house made pastrami, white bean smash etc and it was lovely. Also recommend the venison meatloaf sandwich, I've had this about four times now, very tasty! Keep it up atomic, love that it's a "foodie" place not just about coffee.
Rich
Atomic is in a great location and makes great coffee, but they need to up their game with the menu selection.<br/><br/>While there is a reasonable selection of cabinet food, the brunch menu is a pretty light, and hasn't changed for a long time. I asked why one of my favorite menu options had been removed (Oaty Pancakes) and was told it was because they update their menu frequently - although nothing else had changed, so a pretty uneducated response really. <br/><br/>I also asked if they had wifi and was told they don't cause they don't want people sitting there all day - but is that really going to be an issue? - probably not, especially given the location - this isn't a touristy part of town where people seek out free wifi.<br/><br/>Decor is ok, just a little cold feeling in winter - bit of colour would be nice. <br/><br/>There are two guys that work weekends that are always friendly and smiley, but the girls that work there seem pretty over it - sort of consistent with other reviews.<br/><br/>The only thing that would stop me going back is the stock-standard menu, once you've been there a couple of times you've had everything - and cabinet food isn't really brunch style food in my opinion.
Erin.j.wellington
Choosing something from the menu that sounded appetising seemed hard as all the things which probably tasted better than what I got was on a menu labeled "BORING" so I went for the baked eggs with mushroom tomato and sour dough bread. We ordered coffee with our breakfast which we finished in the half an our we were waiting for the food. Who knew it took that long to make some eggs and pancakes.<br/>After getting burnt on the dish and then having to ask for a plate because there obviously wasn't enough room on a tiny chopping board to eat a meal I started to eat.<br/>the toast was very very chewing which didn't help that it was overcooked, however I don't know what they did to it cause the other side of the toast was soggy. I couldn't even cut the bread with the knife let alone chew or bite it.<br/>The yolks of the eggs were powdery and over cooked. It's like they were uncertain if I like a runny yoke so they cooked it so the very centre was soft and the rest of it was hard.<br/><br/>This absolutely ruined my morning and I left the cafe feeling physically ill. If my partner had have served this to me I would have thrown it out. <br/><br/>I also thought the pricing was really weird. it was $10 for poached eggs on toast but $4 for a side of two poached eggs?<br/>What bread are they using that's more expensive than eggs.<br/><br/>The coffee was good but I would never order something from the menu ever again.
Sean Simpson
Yes the staff can seem a little detached &amp; 'robotic' as referenced in other reviews. But hey - it's Kingsland, what do you expect!? I have personally never has any level of rude service - quite the opposite actually. <br/><br/>The interior is a little cold but very relaxing and spacious with plenty of light. All manner of coffee related paraphernalia is on display which adds to the whole experience, as does the ability to watch the coffee being roasted though large glass windows.<br/><br/>So I take off half a star for - wait for it - the coffee. Yes, hard to believe it myself, considering Atomic was, &amp; perhaps in many minds still is, the Godfather of coffee roasters. But it's not the coffee itself - it's the way it's made. It falls short of consistency - a pre-requisite for those who love their coffee, and surely something an institution like Atomic should not fail to adhere to. <br/><br/>The fact Atomic does onsite training makes it even more ironic that this should ever be an issue. In short, there are issues with temperature (too hot or not hot enough) poor frothing affecting texture (and no doubt temperature) and what seems suspiciously like extraction errors resulting in taste issues. Clearly I'm not an expert, but I do like my coffee.<br/><br/>I will add, however, that when it is made right, it is still one of the best, all round coffee tastes in Auckland.<br/><br/>On a positive note.<br/><br/>5 stars for the food. Every dish I have ever had here has been at a whole other level compared to the usual cafe fare. Whether it be the baked eggs or a simple banana &amp; blueberry bran muffin, the food clearly tells the story of chefs who take pride in their chosen vocation and their food.<br/><br/>Congratulations must go to the person or persons who have created a simple, uncluttered yet inspiring menu that covers enough of the bases to keep most people happy. <br/><br/>Well done and although I live a fair way from Kingsland, I will certainly continue to keep coming back.
Sheryl J
Great coffee, probably one of the best in Auckland, like the food, but is slow and staff are not that welcoming. The design is not really inviting, so Ill get my coffee and move on. The good thing is the fresh items from the counter, those are YUM, so if you are in the area is worth the try.#
Dan H
This is our regular. Great coffee, lovely counter treats (covered too for hygiene - an all too rare consideration!), and a regular variation of specials all within budget. Why go elsewhere.<br/><br/>Im genuinely surprised to read comments about service, 9 times out of 10 it is excellent so perhaps other reviewers chose an unlucky time to be there. Ive never had a similar experience in 2 years going. Its the cafe of choice of take friends and business contacts.<br/><br/>I too would like to see them open a little later, 3pm is good for the staff but Im sure 3-6 trade would be worth it once people became aware it was an option.<br/><br/>Ask about the coffee cards, great way to save money especially if you order large, soy, or decaf.
Megan504
I used to work in Kingsland so would visit Atomic on average once a week. The staff there are so unfriendly and are always too busy concentrating on clearing tables as opposed to serving customers at the counter.<br/><br/>The worst experience I have ever had which has made me never ever go back there is ordering the soup of the day. I asked for bread when I ordered it and the person serving me looked annoyed and rolled their eyes. I waited 10-15mins for it and she gave it to be in a large coffee cup which was a complete rip off for $10!!!<br/><br/>I left with a paper bag which I thought had toasted bread it in and when I looked in it it just had a spoon and napkin. The soup was bland and watery even though it was advertised as 'creamy.'<br/><br/>The staff there need to improve their service, and maybe even smile once and a while. I am definitely never going back there or recommending it to anyone.
David
I am not sure what to make of this place. Don't get me wrong the food and the coffee are excellent. Once I'm in there I feel compelled to leave again. I stop there with friends when all else is full in Kingsland and never been disappointed with the food. The staff are robotic and very intense - not inviting people at times.
Sunil
good quality coffe no doubt but service is slow. Every time i drop in there are many staff chatting behind the counter and only 1 making the coffee. Last time I went I had to wait about 8mins before one of the staff wondered why I was the only one waiting and still no coffee. The guy making coffee hadnt seen my order so quickly made it- it was rushed, milk was luke warm- not a nice coffee so wont be waiting there any longer. Overall - good coffee - need to improve on service and speed. Surely you could look at running 2 machines ?
Juku
Pro: good coffee, good pastry, good atmosphere, access to Tomizone wifi<br/>Con: Close too early<br/><br/>Very nice cafe, but would be even better if they were open longer. I asked about that once before and they said that nobody wanted coffee in the afternoon. I do! And as they sell savouries too, why don't they just stay open in the evening as well? I think it would be great to have some more cafe options in Auckland for the afternoon and evening - especially on the weekend!
Nicholas Van Oldenborgh
Was offered free coffee with coffee bag purchase. <br/><br/>Asked for another free coffee with second bag purchase.<br/><br/>Three staff, looked at me as if I was crazy. How rude! <br/><br/>Never going back. Telling all my friends.

Environment: Very clean and spacious. Great for catching up with few mates.<br/><br/>Food: Try the chocolate mouse, they are rich and delicious....

Popped in Atomic for a quick coffee before work but ended up having breakfast! I have always been intrigued by this place and I'm very glad we went in this morning.<br/><br/>I ordered the almond butcher with poached pear and rhubarb. The muesli was super filling, and tasted amazing. The fruit was poached perfectly. I also ordered the cold brew coffee which was an excellent start to the morning.<br/><br/>Fraser ordered a toasted beetroot and chorizo sandwich which also tasted great. I didn't expect the portion size to be quite to large, but it was appreciated. The service at Atomic was very efficient and the whole cafe has such an awesome atmosphere.
Rebecca MacDonald
I have heard great things about Atomic Cafe in Kingsland so as part of my endeavor to check out all the local cafes in my neighbourhood I headed there this morning for brunch with my mum. She had already eaten so only had a coffee but I was starving so I ordered a 'clean' breakfast from the sides menu, bacon, eggs and avocado. It was cooked for perfection, the bacon (Harmony) was free range and delicious and the wedge of lemon with the avocado was yummy and a nice touch.<br/><br/>What Atomic are probably more well known for is their coffee, they sell beans and supply many other cafes, and again, this didn't disappoint.<br/><br/>I will definitely be visiting Atomic again.
